Hello and welcome to talking baseball.
We are live from Milwaukee where the Brewers just went up to nothing on the Tampa Bay raise.
Let's Talk Ball.
Ian Seymour.
I'm Cooper Pratt.
Yeah.
It's what everyone's saying.
You are Cooper Pratt.
Hello and welcome to talking baseball presented by Fanatic Sports and Casino.
If you're locking in your baseball bets, Fanatic Sports and Casino is a place to do it.
Winning hits different here.
I am Jake Sterilely.
That's Trevor Plough.
Bob golf, Bobby Seraco is producing, Dalton Feeley's getting us some stats and info,
because we're live. We're live from Amfam. We were just at game to wild game,
a wild couple innings that we're going to go through it all the best we can.
It was crazy, amazing atmosphere. We're going to be all over the board tonight, people,
because it's an exciting night for Milwaukee. They go up to nothing.
They come back from down 4-0 again. Coach Trev.
How are you doing?
I'm doing well.
You're right about the atmosphere.
I mean, we got here at 1 o'clock, and then they let the people into the parking lot,
and then it all kind of just exploded from there.
Such a great night at the ballpark.
The air got taken out of the stadium in the first,
and then Milwaukee just kept bringing it up and up and up.
Before you know it in the ninth, this place was rocking.
That last out they got, I felt the dang stadium shake, man.
That was awesome.
Yeah, and I mean, 4-0 is a conversation in this town.
It was really cool.
I mean, just hearing the different fan things before the game, hearing the fan things after the game.
Like, my God, the Milwaukee men's bathroom was the most testosterone-lated.
It was.
It was crazy.
It was crazy.
And there's a whole storyline that I don't know how much we're going to Chris Rose wax poetic at different points of this.
But like, this city and this stadium was nuts because it's different generations of, like,
like 44 years of not thinking this was like on the table that it's,
it's been while.
I've never seen anything like it.
If you live here or around here, you're a Brewers fan or you're in a Packers fan.
Those two things just come with the territory.
So yeah, it is.
It's multi-generational.
We saw that everywhere.
You're right about the urinals.
I heard so many guys be like, let's go, boys.
Let's get one.
I'm like, are we in the clubhouse or are we in the bathroom?
No boundaries.
It didn't matter.
I can't wait to hear your burn.
Let's, yeah, we'll burn the game.
Again, it's a different perspective.
We're in the building, so we didn't get every replay.
We didn't see where every pitch was.
So if you come here for that, it's going to be a little different.
And then we'll lay out what there is for the Rays.
And, man, I mean, this city, this city is mentally preparing for a parade.
But let's get through the game.
Let's get through all that.
And let's burn through it.
Game two, the Rays would send their vote.
Viking King Rasmussen hoping to win in the good land or go down two nothing to Henderson and the crew.
Top one, four score in seven games we go.
As Hicks goes to the sticks, four nothing raise.
But how about the fortitude by Contreras and Mitchell, two RBI singles, fortitude after one?
Buckle up Rasmussen and Henderson.
They're out before the fourth is over and an E3 that's going to play.
a round to John's brain. It's four to three until the six. Short Kings raise up.
Sal gets a free lick on Seymour like a good night out. We're tied up at four and
it's seventh heaven for Brewers fans. Coop Pratt and Hittney with the RBI
single and then the Brewers pitching Henderson to Jocho to May to Hall to
Yerebe to Ashby the Brew crew win five four
and they go up 2-0 on the series.
Nice job, coach.
You got a little wild right there.
Man.
A little suggestive.
Pratt and Hittany.
That's some good for nobody.
Maybe one person that works at Pratt and Whitney.
Oh, I don't know what you're talking about at all there.
Oh, they make like plane engines and stuff.
Oh, yeah.
Big Connecticut company raise up.
Okay.
Anyways, Trev, where do we start?
I have a plane.
to start, dude.
Maybe the first inning?
First inning.
I think pregame.
Because we were down on the field for BP.
Thank you very much.
Well done.
And that was fun.
I think that's something that maybe this is just for us.
But in Milwaukee, it's been such a different experience from last year in L.A.
or even like the All-Stragan, these places that we've gotten to go to, which we're
very thankful for.
This was like open, man.
Like you're down in the field.
Everyone's around.
All the players seem so relaxed.
like just kind of coming up, saying hi, doing interviews.
It did not feel like it did last year in Los Angeles,
where everything was just so buttoned up.
But we got to talk to a few people.
I think the discussions that I had with Chabatola
and then Kevin Cash, he came over, and we started talking,
they were so relaxed about the entire thing.
And I don't think they'll be mad at me for sharing this,
but they're like, you know, look, we had a shot last night.
You know, we got our best guy on the hill tonight.
They were very, very confident going into this game.
And there was zero sense of panic on the Ray's side whatsoever.
There's me and Yelly, just two units right there.
But I do want to make that point.
The rays weren't coming into this stressed at all.
They felt like they were in a really, really good spot.
Like I said, you get Duluk up there in the ninth,
got a chance to win it, it doesn't happen for you.
But the race were ready to go out and win this game,
and you get to the top of the first.
And oh, my gosh, it seemed like it was going to be a right.
runaway one of those games that just gets away from the Brewers.
Yeah, it is a good sports point, Trev, that, you know, whether it's like a Super Bowl or a big game and you talk about, you know, in the Super Bowl, you have that first big hit and it's almost like, okay, we're playing football again.
It's almost like both teams came to the stadium and the rays were like, okay, so we lost game one in Milwaukee and Miserowski was on the bump.
And the Brewers were like, whew, all right, we won game one.
Now we still have to go win a series that it was like, both teams were here, let's do it.
and they do do it in the first, and it's a crazy first inning,
which is probably going to take up the next hour and a half.
And it's brought to you by booking.com.
Booking. Yeah.
An official travel partner of MLB, booking.com,
makes it easy for every baseball fan to travel and catch a game.
Wherever the team's schedule takes them,
a playoff game, a weekend series,
even a random Tuesday in a city you've never been to.
The thing about following baseball,
every ballpark comes with a whole city worth exploring.
The neighborhood that turns into a tailgate.
We saw that.
The food spots, locals,
actually go to. I'm filled with cheese curds. The streets that buzz a little differently on game day.
Every stadium has its own version. And booking.com makes it easy to find a great hotel or vacation home.
Right in the middle of it. Once somewhere gets in your head, go on. Book the trip. It's easy.
The easiest way from where you are to where you want to be. Booking.com, booking. Yeah.
An official travel partner of MLB, Major League Baseball trademarks used with permission.
In the first, Coach Shreff, the place is buzzing.
It's buzzing. People are tailgating.
in and drinking service arrows outside at 1 p.m.
Before they could get in the parking lot, which I don't know who parked the car after that,
but that's not my problem.
It's a great environment.
Your guy Ryan Braun's hyping it up.
And then whammy.
Yandi Diaz beats out a ground ball to short that Cooper Pat Pratt throws away and everything
we've been talking about in the defense.
Going back to yesterday's episode where we might have had a little buzz while we were
recording and we will finish this episode with what Dalton did at the
Steakhouse last night because some of you asked and some of you will still be shocked
that it was like whoa okay we're back in the world series the Burrish just made a
defensive miss queue and now there's a runner on second nobody else so yeah I mean look
seven pitch a bat good job by Yondi there still hitless in this series but is able to
put the bat on the ball and Cooper Pratt just kind of rushes it and I think when we
came up here at Dalton made a really good point he goes you know eventually we're
going to get to the good part of the game for Cooper
Pratt, but we're going into
yesterday and some of the abats he had
taking his foot off
of the base on the double play at the end of the game
and even early
in this game, not really coming through
but so, I mean, that's
the start of his game and
you know, we're going to get to the good stuff and I
always tell my youth team
and anybody that plays sports, like you just
got to forget about it. You know, you make an air, so
what, he's so good defensively that he'll be
fine, but it does lead to a guy on
second base and Chandler Simpson who I think
I have him as like the X Factor in this world series.
Like he's got to come through it.
And he does in that first inning right there.
There was like a big kind of delay,
umpire mass delay.
So our guy Jim Wolfe kind of like killed the vibe a little bit.
But then eventually Simpson lines this one up the middle.
I'm like, okay, here it is.
One nothing raise.
Yeah.
And Simpson pressure, threat.
How about that?
Threat's a word that I think gets thrown out a lot that depending your statistic,
Christian Yellich, didn't have the best year, but he's a threat because he's Christian
Yelich.
Chandler Simpson, I think normally you think threaten.
It's like, oh, if I miss with this guy, he's going to, dude, Chandler Simpson is just such
a threat every time he comes up that he's kind of the bad man.
I mean, him in Kamenaro, there was a good, I heard a Brewer's fan in the sand when Kamenaro
came up for his third or fourth at bat, and, you know, he's coming up every inning, huh?
and that's what it did feel like for a little bit.
That they get the two RBI hits,
and then here comes Liam Hicks.
I'm going to give Trev a little juice,
because we don't play this game a lot.
I think we each took two shots at this game,
and Trev goes, I think Hicks might just,
might lean into one.
Well, Chandler Simpson's Steele's second base,
that's another thing.
If he gets on base, he's stealing, he did it,
and Camino comes through.
It just felt like there was momentum on the raised side,
and I thought that swing put the game away.
I did. I thought here comes the raise. Their offense is going to explode today. Four runs already. You really could feel like the, I mean, the whole vibe of the stadium changed after that. It was like, oh my gosh, did we really just pay $4,000 to come watch this game where our team's going to get destroyed? That's not the way the Brewers play ball, as we know, especially now. But that was massive, massive for the raise. And it just felt like it was going to be a completely different game.
game. Yeah, and it ends up, it's going to be a credit for Henderson, but you're right,
you're looking at pitch counts. Like, is he going to get through the first or how far is he
going to go in this game? And his playoffs have not been fantastic. This is his first start ever.
Four, four run. Never happened, right? 25 pitches.
So, yeah, him settling down, and there is that whole middle inning of pitching for the
raise shouldn't be forgotten even though, or excuse me, the Brewers, even though Yerebe and Ashby
get a lot of the stars.
So it's a four-run first inning.
The Rays are here.
Here we go.
Game time.
And then here comes Milwaukee,
bottom of the first,
and you're like, all right,
what kind of answer back do they have?
What kind of, you know,
this Milwaukee grit?
And let's be honest, Trev,
a lot of the talk around the stadium today,
and you were kind of given that,
I played for the Ray's head tilt.
Like, a lot of the talk was like,
are the Brewers just going to do this?
is it going to be a sweep?
Is it going to be five games?
Have they changed baseball?
Are they like, Pat Murphy's perfect in this city and everything going on?
They got punched in the nose, and that bottom of the first they had to do something.
That has been the vibe.
It was like, Will Wicke's going to sweep.
They're the better team.
Joey Votto's going on social media and talking on MLB Network about how, like,
this Brewers is just, they're just a better team.
And yeah, they are up to nothing, but these games have been extremely close.
But at the same time, it never really felt like it was going.
Besides the top of the first, it's never really felt like the razor in control, dude.
Because you're right, the Brewers come back, and they end up scoring two.
Trurio's been awesome.
Lead-off single gets there.
Then Jake Bowers does it, so Yelie's got a chance to do something.
He ends up striking out.
But then this is something I forgot.
I'm reading the notes right now.
William Contreras is up with two guys on, hits a foul.
ball pop up and we're like, okay, is it going to stay fair?
Is it going to stay fair?
It did stay fair.
And again, we didn't see any replays because we're down watching the game.
It didn't hit the fence, nothing, just clanked it, right?
You clank it, and you can't give them an extra opportunity because what does he do?
It gets the base knock.
That starts at the end up scoring to that inning.
I think it's a very, very important inning, not only for the brewers to, you know, just,
oh, I forgot this was the hit.
Yeah, man.
I forgot this was the hit.
Nuts.
Nuts. Bowers ends up
taken off. Jake Bowers,
the first baseman, not a speedster.
3-2 pitch.
And it really looked like,
because that one they did show the replay
on the Jumbo Tron, it really looked like
Contreras tried to do that.
In a 3-2 count, he pulled
the hands in and was like, I am going to hit a ball
to second base, and he did it.
Can I tell you what, Trev?
He did try to do that. Crazy.
Because watch William Contreras when he's got a 2-0 count
in swings. Don't look like that.
It's so difficult to say, I'm just going to do that.
Does he have any idea that Bowers is going right there?
I mean, I don't know.
He's not looking at the signs, is he, Contreras?
And all of a sudden, Bowers goes, and he just knows he's got the baseball IQ.
He'll be like, all right, like, in that moment, World Series,
he's just like, I'll pull the hands in ground ball to second base,
score run.
That was awesome.
So that was a big one.
Both starting pitchers are at 29-plus pitches through the first inning.
What, you know, Drew Rasmussen and what he was.
supposed to mean for Tampa and the fact they get that they get the zero off the board it's a
massive first inning that we exhale it's a four to two game you're like what we've been through
one inning of baseball I think I had I'll be honest with the people I had one 16 ounce beer
drank it in the whole first inning it was like 40 minutes of baseball um that it was just wild
Milwaukee needed it and it definitely like the crowd is looking around the brewers are looking
around like okay. Obviously we have work to do but getting out of that 4-0 hole that things hey credit to
the starting pitchers they settle back in. Logan Henderson who again tough postseason as bad of a
first inning as you want he starts to lock in he starts throwing his change up a little more and he gets
every out is so important and you feel it more so later in the game that I don't want to take away from
him locking in in those those earlier innings along with Rasmus.
and that brings us to basically the bottom of the fourth.
Obviously, there's more going on in that game.
I don't know.
You see anything there you want to hit?
Not really.
I think you did a good job there, segueing it.
I do agree that, you know, so you have the response inning,
the answer inning from the Brewers in the bottom of the first.
Equally, I think, as important is, yeah,
for Logan Henderson to go back out there top second and put up a zero,
give his team a chance to get back into it.
Rasmussen started to settle down a little bit.
We get to the bottom of the fourth.
Cooper Pratt
works a seven pitch
Walk here
So he's after a really bad first
I think he struck out in three pitches
Gets down O2 here
Ends up
Fighting his way back into it
Ends up getting on
On base right there
And I think again this is like
The maturation process
A young player
A rookie playing in a World Series
Made a big air, big inning
And he's able to kind of
Get over it, move on with the game
Forget about what happened behind you
Love it for Cooper Pratt night.
Man, I keep seeing Aronda.
Big Sal Freelick night.
We'll get there.
We'll get there.
My guy.
Yes.
In that inning, Jonathan Aranda, he has the chopper to first.
I'm curious about that because, again, we're looking here.
It's first and third because Freelick gets a single and Pratt goes to third.
So we have first and third one out.
The replays I've seen.
I'm assuming he's.
coming home with the ball, but I don't think we ever really got a chance. He didn't really make a move
anyway. Yeah, you see it. It hits the butt of the glove. It looks like he's turning his feet
for the option to throw it. Run it back again if you can. I just don't think the play right here
is to home. You're not turning two here. It doesn't look like it. Unless you step on the base,
but then if they get in a run down, the run scores. Yeah, his feet turned a second there. Yeah, so I think
a play like that with Hamilton running is you're going home.
And I don't know if he was trying to do that or what.
He looked like he was just trying to stop the ball.
Like a hockey goalie did not stop the ball.
Yeah, again, we're guessing at this point.
I guess my best one, because he's not looking home and Pratt's on third and he can run pretty good.
Yeah, but you're infilled up.
I don't know.
Yeah, it's a chopper.
I don't know.
It looks like he was planning on fielding, giving second a look.
And if it's there, firing the second to get the lead run.
Either way, that goes off his glove.
Again, if you're an official scoring
aficionado, it's going to be, it gets an RBI either way
because they thought the run was going to score.
So I guess you don't end up knocking that run-wise.
But as we're tracking every pitch,
as the relievers come in and you're wondering,
how long can Booser go and how long can all these guys go,
every out, every pitch, like Cooper Pratt battling for seven pitches
and not swinging over the fourth pitch in the aback
because he's frustrated from before.
Like, all of this matters throughout the game.
And, I mean, if you're a raised fan,
I know they believe in what they do,
and you get corny-based, corny sports stuff.
Like a series doesn't start until a home team loses.
Like, I don't know.
I think the raise, I think you're right,
the raise mentality and talking to Kevin Cash for a little bit today,
I think they're going home and they're kind of okay,
except maybe Jonathan Iranda's mentals.
Those two balls would be in my head.
pretty harshly.
But yeah, then it's 4-3 on the scoreboard, and it's, I don't know,
the energy, it's what you're saying that we haven't been able to encompass
that it felt like Milwaukee was going to win this game,
basically after they answered in the first.
Well, I mean, it's just difficult to score on this bullpen.
And, you know, regardless of who it is,
we always talk about the big three, Uribe, Ashby, and McGill,
but Jojo-O-Mero, D.L. Hall, they do their thing,
that's the May does their thing, does his thing.
We're talking about coming back against very good pitchers who were kind of like rolling right now.
So look, they had their chances.
And we could go to the top of the six.
Liam Hicks gets hit by a pitch.
Richie Pelosi puts down a sackbunt.
Johnny DeLuca ends up striking out.
And then it's Victor Mesa Jr.
He singles.
But like, the send is crazy, dude.
The send is crazy.
I mean, Jackson Truro is 120 feet away from home plate, maybe a hundred and twenty feet away from home plate.
maybe 150 max and Liam Hicks obviously not like the fastest guy and they end up throwing him out
and I don't know man I don't know I guess I guess who's up after Victor Mesa Jr. is it
is it Duluca?
Walls.
No walls okay.
Yeah which hey maybe you get aggressive okay maybe that's it but it was a little too aggressive
it's raised it's raised baseball to a degree it feels like part of their identity.
dude i don't i mean you're right i mean there was no hesitation and i mean jurio like it's not his a throw
because he's kind of just like if i if i get it to the plate yeah you're me so yeah i i i would wonder
raise fans a raise up and i i guess let us know like do you see that i genuine question do you see
that and you're like that's raise baseball we're going for it do you see it and you're like no
don't send the catcher or do you know like taylor wals is i i
I don't know.
Okay, so say they don't send them, first and third.
Do you pull the Williamson card at that point?
Who was pitching at that time?
In the sixth inning, my God.
Is that Hall?
It might have been Hall.
Hall, the lefty, and has Valade pinched?
So I guess there's an argument you could have shot that.
Interesting, interesting.
I don't know.
I mean, and that's, I don't know.
I guess we should do more bigger picture stuff at the end,
but I would say two things that are becoming very apparent.
is like the raise.
We've seen some teams with benches that it's like, ooh,
like are they going to deploy them?
The rays, we're kind of looking like.
I mean, this is no offense to Ben Williamson,
but as far as pinch hitters off the bench go,
not striking a lot of fear.
And then the bullpens,
which was kind of what made my decision before this series.
And it feels like whoever's coming out of the brewer's bullpen right now
feels like a dragon that's they're going to win
and whoever comes out of the raised bullpen,
it's like, will they survive?
We've questioned it.
Like, we know who the good bullpen, quote-unquote,
is for the brewers,
and we don't really know who it is for the race,
besides Baker.
And I guess you say Wells,
and after that, it becomes like,
you know, a lot of guys knocking on the door,
maybe trying to get in this good club.
Get in the club.
Yeah.
We're doing that later.

Sixth inning.
So as the chaos ends in that inning, the play at the plate.
Hicks is out.
Here comes Ian Seymour, who against my Yankees looked sharp and was definitely a weapon for them and in the trust tree.
He kind of has a little bit of that raise, throws like a weirdo, his head jerks to the side.
He doesn't look at home.
He's reversed splits.
But they're using inverse lefties, and especially as we've seen with these brewers, a lot of the bigger numbers would tell you, you know, Garrett Mitchell's not going to hit a homer here.
Sal Freelick sure isn't going to hit a homer here.
and Sal Freelick hits a homer everything in his body.
I think they said is the second fastest home run swing of his career.
The first one was in the postseason earlier.
He had four homers in the regular season.
It's his first homer since July 11th.
His first left on left since opening day.
And Sal Freelick goes Yabo.
And I don't know.
I didn't know if he'd remember coming to the office in 2022,
to so I wasn't too aggressive with them.
We had a nice situation.
We have similar bodies.
I've never hit a ball that far, and I can't do a lot of, what are you questioning right now?
I mean, similar bodies is interesting.
Heights.
Okay.
I think we're both Italian.
I think I've told you there.
You're missing a few of the quick twitch muscles.
I sure am.
You and Luis Laura.
I'm missing a lot.
Upstairs, downstairs.
Trev, we were going throughout the stadium, which, by the way,
Ruckus.
Yes.
A lot of the Brewers fans that had tickets up top were just floating around the other levels.
And they, again, reminder had been drinking in a parking lot since 3 p.m.
A lot of talking baseball fans here.
We love all of them, by the way.
The place exploded because it was sell, because it tied the game.
Nine pitch it bat.
Yeah, this is where I'm questioning because, again, I didn't even, I wasn't focused on this for watching the game.
Nine pitches, all fastball four seams or sinkers.
His number one pitch to lefties throughout the year has been his change-up.
Probably mix one in.
Nine fast balls in a row here.
I don't know.
Yes, it's one of those weird playoff.
I mean, we're going to talk about Uribe in a little bit.
And look at Sal Free.
Like, round in the place is losing his mind.
He gave everything he had.
Literally.
Little extra T-level because it's the World Series.
I mean, that was awesome.
And you're looking, because it's also kind of difficult
with the really tracked the ball.
We had a few balls out into the gaps.
We're like, is that gone?
Is it not?
And this one just kept going and kept going and kept going.
Then all of a sudden you just see it disappear over the wall.
Tie game, this place.
This place was going nuts.
It was awesome.
And then, again, like, as we're saying that there was a brewer's expectation that they
were going to win, but that's when the game fully went from like the hunter, the hunted
to the hunter.
It was like kind of, how are the brewer's?
is going to get this done.
And the Ray is just feeling like they're surviving each inning,
like each pitcher coming out trying to battle through.
While now our kind of eyes wide open moment was like,
so wait, is it a tie game and the Brewers have Uribe, Ashby, McGill
ready to go?
It's like, okay, so they've almost won the war.
They had nine outs to get in a tie game.
They had the score one more run and they had their three best options available to them.
So yes, it felt bad for the raise.
at that point. And then again, I guess add this one to the speech about every out mattering,
every pitch mattering and the next steps coming in the game. The third out that wasn't the third
out, the pop-up that Taylor Walls had a clear beat on and is out there for defense. And then
Chandler Simpson comes bombing in. And normally I think that is an outfielder's ball. And
Chandler Simpson has made great leaps with his defense. He calls off walls, ends up,
trying to make a diving attempt at it catches it, ball pops out.
And then it almost becomes a moment of panic because the Brewers you're looking around,
I think it was Yelly who hit it.
He ends up at first because to be honest, it was just one of those moments where everyone was watching the play.
Like Jake Bowers is running from first who were complimenting his running before.
And he breaks it down because you just had to see the result of the play.
That it was almost one of those Brewers moments like it was the first time.
is like, hey, are we going to look back at this and be like,
ooh, should he have scored there if he was hustling?
Should Yelly be there?
And just as the race fans, like this was,
this felt like everything was spiraling out of control.
Yeah, I mean, as a shortstop,
you're just waiting to get called off on a ball like this.
You keep going back, back.
It looks like he got called off early,
but I don't remember how loud it was in the stadium at that point,
but I'm assuming it's difficult to hear.
And, yeah, I mean, that's Simpson's ball all the way.
Yes.
And he got to it and just kind of when he stumbled,
it ended up coming out of his glove.
All of that was for nothing.
What, who comes in?
Tyler Wells comes in, gets Contreras to ground out to you in the inning.
But again, you're saying, all right,
you kind of know who's coming in for the brewers now.
You know that Yerebe is warm and he's going to come do it.
So that already is like, you know, not great if you're Tampa.
You know these guys have been very, very good.
And time is of the essence.
and the game is getting late early, if you will.
And basically that's kind of, that's what happened in the seventh.
They got Taylor Wall's leadoff walk, which is like, okay,
like we've seen some Uribe this postseason where, like,
he might walk some guys.
He had, I think, only one game.
It was in the DS or the CS, and the CS that the Dodgers got to him,
and he got a little erratic.
And we're like, okay, is this going to happen again?
It did not.
The people here love Uribe.
I think he got the biggest.
ovation of anyone today.
Besides Paul Molter, the igniter who threw out the first pitch.
The igniter.
Yes.
Paul Molitor.
Did I text him?
What a beautiful moment?
Yeah, I did.
And he responded.
Love you, Trubb.
No, right away.
Oh, I didn't think he responded.
He's my guy.
He's my guy.
Okay, that's neat.
Bottom seventh.
Bottom seven.
Here it is.
Bryce Terang lead off double.
Pretty swing.
Fastball up.
Gets to it.
Pretty nice swing.
Right.
center field gap.
Garrett Mitchell with a D-fly ball, catch by Victor Mason.
We thought Gary Mitchell was going to vote.
We thought it was like, oh, Brewer's ball time.
Here we go.
He's not bunting, surprise, and then he hits a missile.
Victor Mason Jr. gets there, so it ends up working as a sack fly, gets the third.
Kevin Kelly comes in the game for Wells.
And Kevin Kelly had an amazing year for the raise.
Not the biggest strikeout guy.
I think the K per 9 is around 7 or something like that.
Sidewinder.
But he gets ground balls.
Grows 92 gets ground balls, but also is that what you want with infield in?
Yeah, it is what you want.
In a way, yes, but also all the batting averages fly up.
And you're playing a Brewer's team that is going to put the ball in play
and is so good at what they do.
And it's young Cooper Pratt who ends up having a signature moment.
Like, would you rather have a ground ball guy?
How about this?
Think about the pitchers that came in for the brewers after this point.
It's Ashby throwing strikeout bowling balls or making up pitches, basically.
Uribe, you know, the slider fest he puts on Caminero coming up after this.
Like, I would rather those guys coming in than Kevin Kelly.
Of course you want strikeouts right there.
I mean, he has a decent strikeout percentage.
It's 22.6, so 52nd percent up, but he's 98th percent down ground balls.
So, like, I think it's for the raise.
I mean, name a better option.
I mean, you're going to go to Baker?
Well, that's the point.
Yeah.
As we're finding out the differences.
Well, is it already pitched?
Yes, as we're finding out the differences between these two teams and we're zooming in on these games, that was kind of apparent.
It was like Cooper Pratt is going to put a ball in play here, and you're right.
I don't know.
That wasn't a foregone conclusion because I don't know if you remember the guys around us when he swung at the ball in the dirt, they couldn't believe it.
You know, one of those.
How did you swing out of my house?
That was a nice.
You had a nice.
That was a former player.
laugh out of you like fuck you guys like every single one you shut up like and i actually i was kind of
with you in that moment because that was pretty tough the kid comes through fights went off to right
field huge um uh youngest player in world series history to record one plus hit a walk in rbi i run in a
stolen base in a game a couple qualifiers but they're all good but think about that again like man yes
i think just in general like in life like keep plugging keep going keep just you know one foot in front
of the other, that is the Cooper Pratt game today.
Like early on, not great.
Last night, not great for him.
But you just keep going, put it behind you.
You know you put the work in.
It's going to happen.
You get up in that situation.
And when he hit that ball and he looks in the dugout and he's just fired up,
like, I did my job, man.
You could just tell what a sigh of relief that is.
And I do think moments like that are such teaching moments for people and players.
Like, this is something he's going to take.
Oh, yeah, dude.
Forever.
Like, you know, like, I was down, man.
In the World Series, in the most harsh environment there is,
I felt like I was letting my team down,
and then in the end you have the game-winning RBI.
Baseball is a great sport.
Trevor, you felt this city this weekend,
like Cooper Pratt is going to be coming to Brewers games
for the next 50 years.
You know, the Igniter Part 2, people are saying.
Let's go easy with that.
Who texted me and said, Cooper Pratt, what did he say?
I didn't know who that was either.
Oh, you still don't know?
No.
I saw a first name.
I didn't know who it was.
He said this Pratt kid has some ploof-like athleticism.
So I will confirm Trevor got this text.
Let's find out who was from.
The year that's important with this player is 2006.
Eduardo Nahara.
Justin Moreno, MVP, 2007.
God damn it.
I did see Justin M.
Fuck.
I don't know.
Maybe.
Maybe Cooper Pratt and I.
Let's hope there's better things in Cooper Pratt's future.
Hey, dude.
No, I know.
That was me being rude because why not?
He's already signed a deal, bro.
Shout out to Chris Rose.
He's just a hardworking guy.
I love Chris Rose.
My feet are so tired.
I don't know how Chris Rose does it.
We're almost there, coach.
I got an Uber picking up in four hours to go to the airport.
Crazy.
He's in Chicago.
The rest of this, I mean, dude, depending how you do the rest of this game, there's a ton of action.
I guess it starts in the 8th, and it's Uribe and Ashby, and I hope we do circle up on the other
Brewers pitchers that keep the game close to the route.
But Uribe comes out, and you're talking about, talking about this time of year we see a lot of
tendency breaking because you have the full scouting report.
That Uribe, I mean, him and Camerero, all slide,
all DR, all like, is it coming?
Are you going with the hunch?
I think he threw one up, right?
No.
He didn't at all?
I threw one up, okay.
No, he left one up that you and I both looked at each other.
Well, they have like the spin metric and like the break and stuff on the board up here,
and you can just see like the one had like this much horizontal break and the other ones are like this.
Sometimes that's enough horizontal break.
That he gets him.
And man, I mean, we've, whether the course of the.
this program or now the way bullpens are used.
We saw what that Braves bullpen turned into in 21.
We've seen guys just have octobers to remember and Ashby.
Yeah.
I mean, we're talking about Milwaukee Legends right now.
Guy hasn't given up a run.
They let him right out the game.
That's what I was going to say.
They didn't even bring McGill in because of him.
Here's a stat line.
15.2 innings pitched.
Five hits, zero runs, three walks, 17.
Ponches.
The guy is locked.
That's, that's, he's real deal.
I mean, that's what gives you or your manager
the confidence in you to go close this game out,
even though you got one of the better closers
ready and willing to go.
But I think that's also important in this series.
Another time that McGill doesn't have to go in the game
through 20-something pitches last night.
Change up nasty.
Oh.
Yeah, I mean, look, it is a different look.
But at the same time, I think the best way to describe it is,
he's just filthy, dude.
He's filthy.
Talk about the look a little bit because he's listed six foot.
He's very over the top and he kind of like it doesn't look like he strides that far
and he just kind of like catapulted.
It's incredible arm action with every single pitch.
And yeah, I think he hides the ball really well.
So if he gets the ball down there and then all of a sudden the arm just kind of comes at you.
So he's not an extension guy.
He hides the ball and then it's just like fastball, curveball change up.
it all looks the same coming out of his hand,
and you're just, you're tasked with making a swing decision,
and you know, you have this a finite amount of time to do that,
and he just, he makes you make bad decisions.
We see it right here with Yandi, and man.
First pitcher in postseason history to get at least five outs
and six consecutive appearances and not allow a run in any of them.
So, again, what he's doing kind of hasn't been done before.
Let's, again, credit to our sales team,
Brett Joss in the building tonight.
Our last full one, Nutrafall people.
Every October, somebody's rally cap comes out.
Lucky socks.
Same lineup card.
Don't step on the foul line.

Trev, we do get a little action.
Actually, we get a ton of action.
I mean, we get the play at the plate for Milwaukee.
I don't think that was that close.
I mean, maybe they were, I don't know how they were talking about it on the broadcast.
Depends how you consider close.
I think we watched, once we watched the, it looked out in live time.
We saw a first replay and we're like, oh, shoot.
And then we watched the final replay.
It's like, oh, he's out.
But that's close.
Okay, you're right.
It was close.
This is the 1980s.
I think we're like, oh, my God.
I think it was very safe.
They only show you here on the JumboTron what you want to see.
They don't show definitive angles here ever.
So at first I thought, okay, did Fortez block the base?
And then you look in and say, he did not do it.
And the rule is you have to give him a lane to slide in,
but once you have the ball, you can completely block the base if you want.
So he did it.
And then it was just like, okay, yeah, does his toe touch before the glove hits it?
It didn't.
This is an out.
Nice play by Wallace here.
Get to the bottom of the ninth.
Ashby is still in there, or top of the ninth,
excuse me.
And who's up?
Midnight Johnny Delucah.
Midnight Johnny.
So what does he do?
It's a double, dude.
And this is, you know, look, we talked about this between these two teams.
They practice bunting all year long.
It's not just a couple guys.
I think get out there and do it.
So Victor Mesa Jr. comes up, and I'm like, he's going to bun.
You tie this game up and figure it out.
It does not do it.
I don't know.
How many bunts does he have on the year?
You got it up?
Dalton.
It's on it.
Thoughts on it.
It might not be something you do throughout the year, but when it comes to the postseason
and you need to tie the game up or move the runner, you've got to be able to do it,
especially lefty, lefty there.
And that's been our whole conversations about these teams.
Like every man has to do their job and like, you know, old Belichickian lines.
And in that moment, I told you, I've gotten to watch a lot of Victor Mesa Jr. this year,
and I like him.
Like, his play style is electric.
Sure.
I never thought he was going to bun.
He's got two sack bunts on the year.
don't think he's on a left on left.
But that's the time to do.
Exactly, right, because that's when you're not in the power seat.
I also, look, I get it.
Like, you want to hit a ground ball.
You got Bowers kind of crashing in on you.
Like, you think, hey, I'll just yank on one and see if I can get it and keep this
inning alive.
Maybe we put up two.
But, like, I just think in that moment, man, like, go ahead and get the bunk down and
then just see what happens after that.
Make him bring him to Gil.
there's moves you can make.
I think Valade comes in after that, right?
Or is he already in?
No, Valade already pinched earlier.
Williamson came in.
That's who it was.
Yeah.
Who against Ashby, again, it's not like,
there's been bigger pinch-hit threats in baseball history.
Good on Williamson for fighting.
He grounds one off, fights one the other way.
Two outs, runner gets the third,
which Ashby was also spiking balls.
And we also were wondering, okay,
is McGill being saved for Yondi?
Everyone starts looking around.
Murphy's not coming out. It's Ashby's game, which you're just like,
on a day that felt so Milwaukee and after being down for nothing,
the game was there as you're like, is this guy one bad pitch
and is it a Tampa game and a happy flight and shock?
It was not. He got to 3-1 and threw two curveballs. Is that what happened?
Yeah.
So he gets a 3-1, not going to give you my change. I've seen it.
not going to give you a fast wait.
Those occur by which he hadn't thrown since the first, the double,
and gets Yandi to chase.
I actually thought that, and here's the siding.
We didn't really get to see this.
I'm curious.
Felt like a swing lot.
Go do that again, Bobo.
Oh my gosh.
Whoa.
James Hoy over there.
Felt like a swing live.
Yeah, that's a swing.
That's a swing.
That's a swing.
It went.
We don't have a rule, which maybe we'll talk about that in the coming CBA.
Here's my thought, though, because during this, we had Hamilton at third base and kind of like faking it at DeLuca and then just getting on the grass almost.
Not on the grass because that's illegal, but as far back as he could, I thought DeLuca should have got way off the base.
There was a couple instances where Contreras made great picks and blocked balls later in the game.
But again, I just thought maybe some pressure there.
any sort of ball that is five feet away.
DeLuca could have gotten off so far and could have scored.
It didn't come down to that, but that's something I remember saying to you.
I had a slightly emasculating moment where I asked you about taking leads off third earlier in the game.
Just because I don't know.
I mean, what do you mean?
I care about learning.
Amasculating?
I don't know.
You don't ask me about taking leads off third ever.
I don't know.
I think I did ask you about the rule about blocking the plate because sometimes I'm like, dude,
These rules change all in time.
And by the way, that's one that I've officially bowed out.
That one's Jimmy and the Ups.
Ashby is a hero.
The place erupts.
People are going nuts.
I guess let's, I mean, we got some great notes here from Dalton,
and we still have to talk, Steakhouse.
Teams that have taken a 2-0 series lead have gone on to win the World Series.
81% of the time, including 17 straight.
The Brewers comeback, four-run comeback.
for the second time in three games.
They did it to the Dodgers to close out the series.
Remember that super team a week ago that they swept?
This is a bad stat right here.
Which one?
The race of the first team in World Series history
to score four runs or more in the first inning
and not score the rest of the game.
That one hurts.
Teams to score first this postseason are 24 and 13.
Brewers, when allowing the first run, are six and one.
So they're just testing themselves on all,
Front's first team to win six of the first seven games.
They allowed the first run in a single postseason.
And they won World Series games, one in two by one run.
The first team to do that since the 2000 New York Yankees.
How do you like that?
I don't.
Let's do some vibes for a little bit.
It's getting late in Milwaukee.
I mentioned some of my depth things.
Another one that jumped out, and I almost made myself laugh
two minutes ago if you rewind and watch me just like giggle to myself.
Nick Fortez comes in for Liam Hicks.
And when he's behind the plate, it was noticeable.
The Brewers stole four stolen bases in one inning, I believe.
He had a bobble back there.
He had a block that was kind of suspect that it was like, oh, that's interesting.
Like, you know, Liam Hicks has become an impact piece on this team.
It was Fortez, like, was their catcher early on this year?
And it was noticeable.
What made me laugh, because as I'm going through,
through and I'm like, okay, so the bullpen looks sharper for Milwaukee.
They're depth pieces.
Like Hamilton, we didn't know if he was a starter coming into this and like he's looked great.
Like that all around they've looked a little sharper.
Know who is the coolest man in the building tonight?
Gary Sanchez.
For a second, I just asked myself, I was like, who's Milwaukee's backup catcher if they
need him?
I don't think William Contreras is coming out of a game.
No.
Like, even if it's like death, you need a pinch runner.
And the other reason that made us laugh, Gary Sanchez showed up to the field today,
rocking some pink chillers sunnies.
And I would too, because I don't think he's playing.
So let me stack on top of that note you had right there,
because this team is very reminiscent of the 2014-15 Royals.
We keep saying it.
They got horses in the outfield.
They can track down all the balls.
They got a bullpen that's nasty.
Relentless kind of.
I don't know if the Royals had a relentless offense.
Sorry, Moose.
I love you, Moose.
But the one thing that Ned Yose says that he regrets is taking Sal out for a pinch runner
and not allowing him to catch the final out because it was my good friend,
Drew Buterra, who's in the freaking videos.
And so, like, yeah, Murphy's not going to make that mistake.
He's not going to make that mistake.
No.
I guess give me some other broad thoughts because, I don't know.
We were zoomed in a lot on this game.
It's 2-0.
It's not nice to call him broads.
Oh, come on.
Never mind.
It's late.
It's late.
Do you want to say it?
No.
Okay.
Well, no.
What do I?
I was going to talk about the baseball game in the series.
And if you had any thoughts that you thought you should let out.
I still, look, again, these are two.
one-run games we just saw.
We're talking like it's the Ray's funeral.
Yeah.
We're talking like the Reyes have been run out of the freaking building,
and they haven't.
They haven't at all.
Like, they've been stymied late in games.
They haven't been able to score,
but, like, at the same time, they did.
Didn't they score last night in the last inning?
So, like, again, it does feel like,
obviously all the momentum is with the Brewers.
They're up to nothing.
We read the stat 84% of the time, 17 in a row.
But I think if you're the race, I don't know, dude,
we could have won both of those games.
We just got to keep going.
So I don't feel like this is going to be some easy series for the Brewers.
Maybe I'm just reading this completely wrong.
But again, I think the facts are we've had two one-run games.
It doesn't feel like that, though.
So I guess two more good baseball points,
and we don't want to call women broads.
Call them women, okay?
I would never do that.
Drew Rasmussen, three-run runs in 21 innings in his first three posties.
in games.
He allowed three earn runs and got through 3.2 tonight.
He was the bad man of this postseason.
The Brewers knocked him out before 4.
The guy that was the bad man of the postseason before Drew Rasmund, Yamamoto.
They knocked him out, man.
Yeah.
Like their formula on that side of the ball.
All the foul balls tonight.
It was ridiculous, dude.
It was insane.
It's whatever it is.
It's 12-11 local time and we're still recording this because the game went forever because they kept running counts up and fowling pitches off.
Brewer's fans, I know every baseball team does this in along at bat,
but Brewers fans rooting for foul balls like, hell yeah.
I'm glad.
Keep doing it.
This crowd was hilarious.
We had some funny jokes.
There were some funny people tonight.
Jojo Romero, trade deadline ad.
Do the Brewers need more pitchers?
Big inning from him.
Dustin May.
Yeah.
Oh, the Brewers want Dustin May.
I don't know.
I always want Dustin May, by the way.
I agree.
I mean, there's a reason.
There's a reason why.
D.L. Hall with one inning.
They each gave up a hit, but they did not give up a walk.
They did not give up a run that set up the Uribe.
Uribe.
Hey, that I like that Uribe again.
Uribe.
And Ashby at the end.
So what was it?
It was six shutout innings, right, by the bullpen?
Six shuddy by the ballpark.
Four hits, one walk.
Yep.
Sheesh.
Yeah, I don't know.
I think we have a time for our playoff predictions brought to you by
C geek of what can the raise do to win game three or maybe bigger picture get back and win
this series coach they kind of did it today I mean go out there and score early but you have to
continue to do it they just they could not do that and you cannot give any extra outs whether
it's a drop pop-up and a air like they have to play extremely clean baseball the rest of the way
because it does feel like Milwaukee is going to continue to put
runners on throughout the game.
They're going to steal bases.
They're going to do all these things.
So if you give them extra outs,
they're going to continue to score,
they can't have that.
They can't.
The bullpins don't match.
They don't match.
So they need to get to Gasser.
They need to find ways to not have this like A plus bullpen come in.
The game can't be close because I think,
I think Murph will,
if the game's close, he's going to deploy these guys.
And he has enough of them where he can do it.
Yeah.
They got to make it so that's not even a thought for him.
They got to go back and get this next one or else it's over.
Yeah, I think the first thought that jumps in my head is going back to our World Series preview.
These were the two best home teams.
So, okay, go back to Tampa.
It's one of the more unique stadiums for a few different reasons that fastball Freddie, like redemption game against it.
Like, is it nuts to script up like, oh, raise win game three, four to one.
Peralta was great.
Bullpen hands it off.
Brewers don't use their great bullpen.
it's two to one.
And then if it's two to one,
now you've got a game four
where the rays are playing
to tie up the series in the World Series.
Like that...
Who will be pitching for that?
That would be like a...
That would be a Griffin Jacks.
That would be like that bullpenish game.
It would be bulky.
And the same thing for the Brewers.
Yeah, Robert Gasser probably deserves
more love for what...
No, Gassers took the next game, right?
Oh, excuse me.
So about game four, I think, is a bullpen game.
May was listed, but yes, it would be
spikes on.
So, yeah, and then if the brewers have to do two games using their bullpen again.
Make them use the bullpen.
Yeah, like there is a path.
I'll say a couple things.
Milwaukee, I love you.
I'm moving here.
Yeah, you be great here.
I think I love it.
You're at Milwaukee.
We got, we have four Milwaukee nines here.
What you don't understand is you're too pretty.
Yeah.
That actually docks you a point in Milwaukee?
We have four Milwaukee nines right here.
That I'm moving to Milwaukee.
It's my favorite place in the world.
I'm the only one that's done manual labor for, like, work before.
What are you talking about?
You're a fool.
My first three jobs in my life are manual labor.
You sold both.
What are you talking about?
Yeah, for seven years post-college.
I was a party rental and supply delivery guy.
You should have seen those days.
Oh, here's 20 chairs, tables, and the big cahuna weighs 700 pounds.
Yeah, you had the clipboard.
My first job, maintenance on a golf course.
Could there be more labor?
I don't know what you were doing
I don't have to defend myself
glad
your pool man lineage
stops with you because Teddy's going to be a ball player

I've been
obviously feeling the storm in Milwaukee
like the different generations of
Brewers fans that are at these games
because again there's a lot of people
that have been Brewers fans for about
40 years that didn't think this was a reality that I was, my line today was, if the brewers
win tonight, it's Brewers in five. If they lose, it's Brewers in six, which was my original
prediction. I'm now, as I'm feeling less brewery and dreaming up the Tampa part of this,
like I'll stay Brewers in six, but it's feeling like their year. And I mean, if you gave me
the options right now of Tampa and seven or Brewers in four, I would take Brewers in four.
Like, they just, it seems, the yuker, dude.
Like, it seems like there's heavy shit going on.
Also, with the first team playing proper baseball in, what, since the Royals, basically.
I mean, I don't know about that.
Moose.
Freaking Moose.
I took a picture of a Moose Brewer's jersey today.
I didn't send it to you yet.
Yeah, we got, he'll love that.
He gets a lot of love out here.
How about Ryan Braun just pumping up the crowd?
We did find out that he used the same speech for two games.
Yeah. And he's good, not great with a Mike.
I thought he, yeah.
Good not great. We love the RVA. It's a lot of pressure. Live Mike in front of all these people.
Nobody loves it more than him. He did great. I guess this will be a shout out again to the city of Milwaukee Carnivore. Our dinner last night was insane.
Oh, yeah. I forgot about that. Rob Seraco, who's producing on the fly, Dalton Feeley. Trev, why don't you take it from here?
Well, I mean, look, we put in some apps.
Put in some apps.
I got bone marrow because I said, we're going to get high tea levels.
And so we had bone marrow.
That was an interesting thing for a lot of people.
Wasn't blown away by the bone marrow.
Kind of weird.
I don't like food I have to do that much work for.
It's like caviar.
Same thing.
You need like the accoutrements with it to make it taste good.
Anyways.
What do you want to get to?
Do you order?
Because we all end up getting steaks.
Steakhouse.
We all got filets.
And then like, okay, do you want a sauce on them?
I'm like, give me a peppercorn sauce, baby.
Steak apoi.
I got the Bernice.
Yeah, you did.
Why not?
No, it's, okay.
Your steak comes out.
Bang.
My, Rob's state comes out, bang.
My state comes out.
There's one stake left.
It's Dalton's.
Never seen this move.
Ever?
I respect it, but I've never seen it.
It was a nice cut of steak?
What was it?
Filet?
A filet mignon.
A barrel cut, too.
With a nice egg on top of it.
A fried egg.
Fried egg.
Again, I'm in steak and eggs.
Great.
Just never seen an order like that.
He did it.
He did it.
With the confidence of 10 men.
And now that I'm talking about it, is it that weird?
No, I love egg on a burger, which again, we're not that far removed from it.
But a filet with the steak is crazy.
It's very French of you, I think.
It was shocking.
And then what's going to be as my few memories that I'll remain from this trip one day
and, you know, how cool Milwaukee's been.
And, you know, you give the look.
We're a couple hours into the dinner and the game.
Brandon Jennings was sitting next to us.
Shout out, the dude.
And you give the dessert, right?
Like, we're at a nice place.
Let's get dessert.
What a bottle of red open?
Should we? Let's get a cheesecake.
You look at me.
I basically smell of cheesecake.
Like, okay.
I fake fight you on it.
And the cheesecake comes out and Dal looks and he goes, well, I've never had cheesecake.
And I almost, I had a little.
I had ancestors like come out of me of being like a doll.
I don't know if you're standing on religious ground here,
but you're about to eat cheesecake.
Loved it.
Yeah.
I mean, how could you not?
How could you not?
It's one of the best desserts.
And the mighty took out a ton of the crust, which is the best part.
Yes.
So for those that are deep, deep in our talking baseball world, you enjoyed that.
For some of you, you're like, what the hell was that?
What are they talking?
Shut up and the show.
Yeah, eat a bug.
Thank you guys so much.
We're going to pack this out.
Trev has an Uber to the Chicago Airport, the Chicago Airport, they call it,
in about 35 minutes.
So thank you guys so much for allowing us to do this.
It's crazy that we're on the field, like getting to yuck with the guys and the players and the media and all that.
The owner of the Brewers.
The owner of the Brewers, shout out.
Papa Adonacio.
It might be, could be a big week and a half or so in Milwaukee.
We'll see what Tampa's got up their sleeve.
We'll be back recording after the game Monday night.
You guys are the absolute best.
We can't thank you enough.
Shout to my friend Jimmy,
known as John Boy.
Let's get out of here, please.
