And it starts out in the ATL, obviously, because it's always been a Jimmy baseball show. Some of the guys getting it done on the Braves, we've been telling you about Jim Jarvis. Trev's got a new name for you coming up.

Dom Smith is still getting it done, a three-run homer in that final game. Oh yeah, Chris Sale. I thought about doing the whole ep on him. 11 strikeouts, nine of them on the slider. How do you like a wipeout pitch in baseball these days? Braves take three out of four. The sneaky bad National League team? Your San Diego Padres, who have the worst record over the past two months.

Fernando! Him and Machado had a big game, but I don't know, Coach Trev. Getting weird out in Sandy Bego. The Dodgers and the Phillies, NLCS matchup, Red October. Phillies, they win that first game, and it's Treves Trey Turner, three for five with two yobos. But it's Treves Dodgers the rest of the way. Dramatic fashion in game two will rewatch the base running fiasco.

Dalton Rushing, playing really well at the catcher position. The Dodgers take that final game. Tommy Edmund, you're going to hear about him, people because he's bawling. Speaking of balling, the Milwaukee Brewers take two out of three from the New York Mets, and maybe that's obvious. Although Freddie Peralta gets knocked around going against his former mates. Cooper Pratt and Joey Ortiz from the left side.

Might hear about that coming up later. Milwaukee wins the bread games, and that's obvious. Yelly, two RBIs in that final game. We love them. Nice guy. Tigers in the Cubbies. teed it up for three. And the Tigers, they take the first one in 10 innings dramatic.

Dylan Dingler, man, we might have to talk about him more. Four for five in that first game. If there's a two-strike count, you do not want to see him at the plate. Or maybe you don't want to see how you lead. How's your power? Three-run homer in that final game as the kitties take the series. I told everyone the Marlins are awesome. They've lost nine in a row.

And that includes three to the Houston Astros because your Don is back. Jeremy Pena is back, three straight games with a Homer. Don't throw it there to ESOC either. Houston, you're going to want to see where they are at in the standings because the Cincinnati Reds took two out of three from the Seattle Mariners. Seattle, it might be what is you doing baby season. They win the first game. There's Cal Raleigh.

A little grand salami, but then Chase Burns dragged his grand salami. on the mound and then Sal Stewart, Southbish, three-run Homer off of that Lamborghini Bazaardo to get the series for Cincinnati. The A's, they face the Diamondbacks. Diamondbacks take two out of three. How do you like that? Diamondbacks are sneaky hot. They win that second game in extra innings.

The German Max Kepler, yes. And then they roll them in that final game. D-backs put up a 15 burger. How do you like that? Lane for rings in the desert. They're in the postseason as of today. Your final National League game, it's the Washington Nationals. They took two out of three from the Rocks, and that's obvious.

Cade Cavali with a nice start in Cours. You don't often see that. There's Andres J. Pajaparro. C.J. Abrams is all over the box score, and that's obvious. Will he be traded? Probably not. Probably not. That's what happened in the National League.

South Stewart, me. you, Miami, Yonder Alonzo shows up. The night goes awry. Javi Sanchez houses us at his place. Trap, have you watched Jimmy and Zach's pure artwork video of Jimmy asking the players if they'll get ejected? It's so good. It is so good. Sal Stewart and Jimmy interacting.

Those are my two worlds combining. Sal Stewart doesn't know that. but really a must-watch video. Zach Esposito does incredible work for us. He absolutely cooks. When you say Zach Esposito does, and then you leave a blank, I mean. Yeah, it could be.

He loves John Boy Media. How about two of baseball's kind of rugged-looking guys, John Schneider and Derek Shelton, love them some Jombino. They do. Look at that. I mean, that looks like a proud dad. That's insane.

Sorry about that pointed beard to define the jawline. That's twice I've said that on this episode. I have the standings. You haven't asked me for them. I love them. I did. And especially that nationally wildcard. My God.

National League East. the brace, congratulations. You got to 60 dubs on the year. That's probably more than some of these teams are going to have total, which is fun. 60 and 42 for your four and a half games above my Philadelphia Phillies who are 56 and 47. The Miami Marlin still one game over five along with the Washington Nationals.

They're both 52 and 51. And the New York Metsu Jolly Olive said, we're going to win the division, our 17 and a half games back at 43 and 60. That joke will never get old. It just won't because he set it with his chest. Oh, the brew crew. You know, they lost that best record in baseball, but they're still playing pretty well.

64 and 38 for them, a seven game lead over Ian Haps, Cubs. 57 and 45 for them. The Pirates, okay. 53 and 50, half game over the St. Louis Cardinals, who are 52 and 50. Then the Reds bringing up the rear.

They're 16 and a half back at 47 and 54. Dodgers best record in baseball, 65 and 38 for them out west. They have an 11 game lead over your snakes, who, yes, have been playing great, eight and two in their last 10, 54 and 49 for them, 50 and 53 for the Padres. What is you doing, baby? What is you going to be doing, baby? 42 and 60 for the Giants, that's a real one. Shane Robinson, my best friend at coaching first base for them, love that.

41 and 63 for the Rockies. So if you're keeping score, the Giants are only two games. above the Colorado Rockies right now. Okay. In the wild card, Jacob, in the National League, the Chicago Cubs have the first spot. The Philadelphia Phillies have the second spot. And then the Diamondbacks, as of right now, are in that third position. Right behind them, the Pirates won game back, the Cardinals one and a half, Miami Marlins and Nationals two. And that's where all stuff. Those are the standings in the National League. Thank you, Trevor.

Because I think two topical teams for two different reasons did play. The Atlanta Braves took three out of four from San Diego. Atlanta, like you said, still in control of the division, you know, from the charging fish to the charging Phillies. They still have a nice little padding there. And they showed, man, it's still a weird, Graves feel to me? Like the studs are studs, whether it's our guy Matt Olson, Drake Baldwin visiting the chop house. But dude, you're still going through some of these box scores.

Jim Jarvis. You're looking at, again, Dom Smith. And then we've got a new Brewer, Hicklin. Come on. He's a rookie. He's 30 years old. That I don't know. These are great stories, Jake. This is what teams need. Martin Perez, back off the I.L. throwing four shuddy again. Like some of these efforts the Braves are getting by some guys. There's a little bit of, again, I know too much of this time of year we jump to the deadline that I'm looking at the second half of the Braves lineup.

And I'm like, what's going on here? But you need it, coach. I know. You need a Jimmy baseball, a short king to come up and be a stud. And Dalton, I talked about this. Like, he could be their answer at shortstop for the rest of the year. Hassan Kim and had come back off the IL shortly. But if he continues to play this way, like what's what are you going to do?

Now, are they going to still shot for a shortstop at the deadline? Yeah, probably. But if they miss out, they got a guy that stepped up and is won a role for them. So that's, again, you need things like this to happen if you're the Braves. I had a thought about Austin Riley. And maybe I've said this before because I kind of like, there's Brickland. Look at this. They showed him running the bases later in the game.

And, you know, it didn't look like Jim Jarvis running, I guess you could say. Well, Jim Jarvis is running on his horse all the time. He can't stop if he wanted to. No. Austin Raleigh looks like a Velociraptor in Jurassic Park. Interesting. In a good way. Like, he's a handsome guy.

Okay. And he's very, he's loaded. This is an interesting series because it almost represents, yeah, what these teams have done this year. The Padres, you feel like they're close. And then there are three games under 500. You got some good performances. You know, Machado, a couple homers, took a 3-0 pitch into the left field seats. And Tatis has been really good, you know, over the last month, month and a half, maybe even longer than that.

But they're just, the Braves are just a little bit better of a team here. And the Padres made these games close or at least that game three. and then the Braves steal one from them in game four. It's like this is the guy, what's the word I'm looking for, the dichotomy of the season for both of these teams, essentially. Yeah, I think for the Braves, you're looking at what's looking like a well-timed All-Star break. They lost 19 of 29 going into the break. After the All-Star break, they're 5 and 7 after this series.

And the Padres, 2 and 5 on a 10-game road trip. Literally the worst record in the NL the past two months. and Trev, that counts the Rockies, that counts the Giants, that counts the Mets. Like, the Reds, remember how bad they've been playing? The Padres have been worse that, man, I kind of got excited during the midweek because I saw like, ooh, Machado, kind of getting hot, Fernando, kind of getting hot. But now here we are a couple days later. They lose three out of four.

People are questioning Craig Stamman's managerial decisions. He has a couple in that final game that don't look so great. that man, all these Mason Miller rumors that, you know, we make fun of Chris Rose for opening up the trade episode, but it's also starting to feel like where there's smoke, there's fire there, and if you're the Padres, I just don't know what the reality is internally in that organization with this year and their upcoming years,

because, man, all those contracts that we loved San Diego giving out, there's a second part to that that's starting to get scary that I don't know what that means for this current window. Well, they're going to try to attach some of these contracts on, I mean, at least that's what they're thinking with like a Mason Miller if they decide to go that way. Because you're right. I mean, those contracts are going, if they're not already hindering,

they will be. The managerial decisions you talked about in that last game, Kyle Hart, lefty, lefty for Michael Harris Dubb. He takes him out, puts in Griffin Canning, Harris homers off him. Then he's got a lefty ready to go up against Dom Smith and leaves Griffin Canning in. And that didn't work out either. And that was in the Chris Sale game.

You know, it's, again, I'll go back to my first point on this series. It just felt like this was the Braz are just a better baseball team than the San Diego Padres right now. And they end up wing three out of four. They are. And I'll end it because I debated giving him an award. But people know that would be a little slutty of me because I've been bragging about his handshake. Chris Sale is insane. Ninety-fourth career double-digit strikeout game.

Seventh all time. Here's the cats ahead of him. Nolan Ryan. Randy Johnson. Crazy name we just ignore. Max Scherzer. Roger Clemens, Cody's dad. Pedro Martinez and Sandy Kofax.

That's it. Silly. Silly. Do you see the broadcast kind of get Freddy for Mean there? Oh, oh, yeah, they called the strikeout. Yeah. Well, I mean, that's, yeah. Yeah, he's going to throw, he's going to throw that slider.

He's going to strike out Freddie, number 11, drop him to a knee. He did just that. Can I get slutty for a second? Yeah. Beautiful note by Dalton on the sheet. The 11th straight non-COVID season for Mani Machado with 20 or more homers. Yeah. That's really good, people.

Yeah. I feel like 20 homers doesn't get like enough. like recognition, but like people will kill for 20 homers. Yeah. They would. It's a weird thing with modern, it's a weird thing with modern baseball. It's not that weird. It's if you play, if you're an everyday player that's now become almost a standard,

which I think it used to be a little more of an achievement, but you have to play every day, which is really hard to do. And you have to be good. It's interesting. I wonder how many 20 homer seasons there are every single year. Do you think it's to a team? Do you like averaged out to two a team? so 60.

It's probably less than that. I would say it's more than that, man. There's a lot of people that try to hit homers that, you know, a lot of... You got researchers on it right now. Jolly, maybe. Also, hey, the reason I said I wanted to get slutty, Machado also. A little bunch single in that first game. Where's he from?

Miami. I'll take him and Mason Miller. Fuck it. Figure it out, Yankees. Oh, look at it. He knows. That's a... Know what?

I think he saw that. the Trevor Plouf Bunt montage. He might have been inspired by Robbie Sorocco. Wait a second. Christopher Nolan, Robbie Sorocco. 5 p.m. tonight, people. If you see Rob, pants him at the movies. Dodgers Phillies. Two teams we've been talking about in the National League and for a long time, Coach Trev. Your guy, Trey, the base running play that, you know, took over the internet because we sometimes get shocked by that. And then kind of a dominant dog. final win. What did you see?

An interesting series, you know, I don't think the, well, yeah, there was some, there was some instances of bad baseball from Philadelphia here. There's no doubt about it. Even when Trey Turner did have, he hit a couple homers, right? In that first game, the first game. There was some defensive lapses by him. This to end the game two, which is tough, because the Dodgers were showing it on on the screen for audio listeners only. Two to one Dodgers, second and third, one out. The Dodgers are actually conceding Justin Crawford's run on third base,

which you don't really see anymore. Usually teams are always infield in. Now, I guess with this matchup and also, you know, with the run on second being the winning run, they decide to play him back, which to me is like, I don't understand that because if your numbers, tell you that's the way you should play, why don't just play it all the time?

This is old school baseball right here, so I'm thinking it makes sense to me, but the numbers say a different thing. Anyways, the only person in, in the infield is Max Muncie. Fraising. And Marsh hits it right to him. It gets Crawford and run down.

J.T. goes and does the right thing, gets to third base. And then for some reason, he sees Crawford kind of like coming back, back to the base and he's like, I guess I'll go back to second. But there was never an instance where Crawford was going to be safe there. Yeah. So it just was a, it was just a bad, a bad, a misread here.

I don't know what else to say. I mean, that ends the game, coach. Ends the game. It's a two one game. Yeah, it's not what you want. And like we say, a lot of these series, a lot of these games come down to one or two that if you're a Phillies fan, who knows what happens next. Maybe Tanner Scott punches a ticket and you move on and that's it.

Maybe someone puts a swing on a ball. It hits the foul pull and we're talking about how amazing Philly is and said we're not. And hey, man, the Dodgers make these plays. Like, yes, they've got Hall of Famers. Freddy's numbers on the year are nuts. Mookie gets moved down the lineup. How's your multi-homer game? Like they've got a lot going on.

I'm talking some Tommy Edmund later. But dude, I think one of the biggest things that will get overlooked with this Dodgers dynasty is their ability to make plays. And again, I will, hey, Yankee Jake will show up for a second. It's the opposite of what the Yankees do. Like, just making the good fundamental or the high IQ plays when you need them, it seems to not happen for my guys. The Dodgers have that, and it's because they have high IQ players all over the field that in those moments don't panic and they make the right play and elite plays. Like, Mookie Betts is throwed. get J.T. Real Mudo there? Not the easiest throw, to be honest. And he did that to my Yanks

last week. So yeah, you need the guys to do it and they have them everywhere. He just brought me back to the World Series. Mookie making to play at the end of the game. Shout out Dalton Rushing. He's having to fill in for Will Smith. He was an 0 for 19. He homered, had to go ahead to run double. A guy that, I don't know, he seems like he understands there's a lot of pressure on him, not only on the field, but a little bit off the field as well. But I'm curious to see kind of, well, Will Smith's supposed to be back early August. So I think that'll be kind of what the Dodgers do in that situation. You know what? I'm on. I'm Dalton Russian fan now.

Travis, that's so funny. I thought about doing the same thing. Like just going full team Dalton rushing. I'm fine with them. It's lining my pockets. I know what I like. He's got the sixth highest weighted runs, creative plus amongst catchers with 200 plate appearances this year. I like that. I like that from a guy that was, you know, hoping to be a backup this year to arguably the best catcher in baseball.

And yeah, he told Trey, why don't you return to second base, please? And that's fine. That's a tough one for me because you know I love Trey. I know. And Trey's like, what? He's like, why are you talking to me? I am. Philly.

Philly's starting pitching watch, NOLA, 25 homers this season, most in the NL. And I know that's, he's got a new contract. I don't know. Again, that second game ends differently, and it's a different tone all around. But the Dodgers find a way to have this tone. Throughout the rest of the National League, Trev, I'm actually, I'm chazy to get to Marlins, Houston. But some Mets Brewers, again, we could start doing some good team, bad team. and I actually am talking about some brewers later

including some Pratt and Ortiz on the left side, the law firm. What did baseball's coach Trevor Ploof see? We're seeing how they're deciding to handle Mizorowski down the stretch and they're trying to limit his inning. So he actually only goes four innings, 65 pitches in the first game. He's got 115 on the year already. So they have to find a way to make sure he's good to go in October and can pitch to his maximum ability. And this is the way that they're trying to do it.

A pre-planned four-inning. I wonder how long that goes. I wish they would just kind of say, hey, here's the plan. I know they'll never do that. But wouldn't it be nice to know, like, okay, next outing, he's going to go another four innings. And then like, when do you decide to ramp it up? It's a very interesting kind of like decision that they have to make because there's no, like, there's no like right answer, really. It's just like let's try to keep him fresh the best we can. So I don't know. Let's do four today. Let's do five the next game. Let's have him skip a start. It's, I don't know what goes into those discussions. But, you know, here he is. They win that first game. They beat up Freddie Peralta as he returns to Milwaukee, seven earned in five and a third

for Freddie Peralta. And he has just had a bad year. And a lot of people think he's going to get traded. I'm curious what team is going to trade for him. I'm sure somebody will take a flyer on him and try to see if they can fix what's been going on with him. Might just be a change of scenery type of thing. Then after that, yeah, I mean, Brewers are you talking, Joey Ortiz

later? Sure am, so shut your butt. But maybe, hey, Metz, Zach Thornton. Yeah, nice. 6-3 24-year-old lefty from born in Winona, Minnesota. I didn't know that.

Yeah, but he went to college in Arizona. I don't know, but if you're the Mets, you're looking for anything like that. There's a Luis Robert Homer. Could he be traded? That was a bomb. Does Louis Robert end up back in Philly? Never, I guess not back, just trade rumors-wise back. I'm excited for the deadline.

I'll say you what. Tigers Cubs. I mean, a classic animal matcher. I think Chicago wishes they were like grizzly bears in that situation instead of Cubs. Well, a Cubs always has a mama bear. Oh, so you think they get protection? Oh, dude, that's an interesting fight.

Like a mama bear protecting her Cubs versus a tiger? I think I'm taking mama bear. I think so, right? Because if they just get one good swipe, it's kind of game houses. Yeah, and like they're not slow by any means. No, no. But it feels like a tiger would have to do. do about five moves of really good damage,

and it feels like the bears just got to get one swipe in. Yeah, I'm like now, you know, there's those books. My kids have them, like, who would win in a fight? Excuse me? Yes, I mean, I don't know if you know this. There's books out there. It's like, you know, dinosaurs facing off who would win. Like the book describes, like, what the battle would look like.

I'm sure there's one with tigers and grizzly bears out there. I know there was like TV shows and stuff about that and tons of like social media accounts. This is like a Nat Geo type thing. Shout out Nat Geo, by the way. I mean, are they like, we're like killing the other animal? That's for kids. You say who wins in a fight? They don't like, they don't say it in like his guts were thrown all over the jungle or something like that.

Kind of alludes to it. Yeah. Animals win a fight one way. You know what I'm saying? Kids need that. There's no tapping out in the animal. kingdom. Sometimes you know

like when a guerrillas fight and then at the end they kind of just like hold their hand out like done or they go like that I think I don't know. You and me should go down and maybe lockout season. Maybe we go down an evolution wormhole because what the fuck dude?

I told you I started watching that one show about it was like dinosaurs I think Morgan Freeman was narrating it and it's like you know this era and then like Fast forward a hundred million years. Right. What?

You can't, you can't just, you can't do that to me. No. Some of it's made up. The nerds are guessing. No, it's not.

There was a period for two million years straight where it rained everywhere on the planet. Right, but I'm saying like, okay, two million years.

Think about that, Jake, you don't gloss over the fact that it rained for two million years. I don't want to gloss over that. I guess where I get held up is, like, the real answer could be it was,

instead of 2 million years, it was 1.7 million years. Okay, that's... Or it was 2.3. And then I've got a 600 million year gap that these geeks are just playing off like they know. And I don't think they do, dude. Dylan Dingler's really good. And that was Tiger's Cubs.

I mean, I don't know. Let me take it over, Coach. Okay. First game, great game. This is the Kelly Jansen in. Cubs have a chance there. They load the bases. They walk Pete Kromstron. He's not happy about it.

Loaded bases for Alex Bregman, gets it to 3-0, coach. One more pitch, and the game is over. One more ball. Kenley dots on the outside corner, cutter on the inside part to get strike two looking, and then foul ball, and then he gets them, ties them up inside to send it to extras, and the tigers end up getting a couple there.

Weird air by Nico Horner as well. They win that first. game. And then the second game, that's the tough for Framber. You know, the box score looks bad, but there was some plays. Who was playing second base in that game? It just looked like there wasn't any effort going on here. For the kiddies, is that Heath, is that Lee? Let me see. Yeah, no, it wasn't Lee. And just put some respect on reliever Paul Blackburn's name because he has joined the Luke Weaver, Brad Keller party of bad starters that have figured it out in the pen. I'm happy for you guys. Ben Rice at 30 homers is crazy to me. What a stud. I've actually grown to really like him as a player and a person. feel like he's perfect for New York,

Might have an argument for Best American League second baseman with the way he's kicked it into gear. And two playoff teams linked up in the White Sox one.

Yeah, I mean, first two games kind of like offense explosion, offensive explosion, one for the White Sox, then the Rangers matched it to Kumar Rocker. It has a really good outing. The splitter was kind of really nasty for him. He's been kind of figuring that out over the last couple weeks. So if you're a Texas Rangers fan, you're like, hell yeah, need that out of you, Kumar.

Then, yeah, you're right in the final game. My draft does it. White Sox relievers, like sneakie been really good. and they're kind of rounding into a complete team. I'm telling you people, like nobody wants to believe me, but I do like they're starting pitching, and now this bullpen is happening,

and their offense can go off at any given point. So I'm big on the white socks, and it's kind of like an example of why this series. But Rangers still kind of an enigma to me. I always say that them and the snakes are my two teams. I can't really figure out. but I guess this one is more about the White Sox and kind of what team they can be moving forward. Like when Ben Attendee is driving in runs like this, I mean, their lineup can go and be deep.

It's long, like kind of pesky at the bottom, but it seems like there's like this article out right now about Derek Shoman and kind of like their hitters meetings and what they do. And it's basically like they're just a bunch of bros hyping each other up. And then they'll do, this article is very fascinating because I think right now in the game of baseball, we always kind of lean towards, oh, it's the analytics are killing everything. And these guys, all they're trying to do is hit the ball in the air. They don't care about Shagull. It's like, dude, you have no idea. Go watch these guys work in the tunnels.

They're not doing anything groundbreaking. They're doing some angled flips. The difference in the information era is just that. There's more information and they're able to categorize it and maybe have like a reason why you're doing this drill. They can really specify, hey, I'm doing this drill because angle flips have been around forever. Engel everything has been around forever. But now they're like, okay, well, it's this reason we're doing this is going to get your path back to this. And we have all the biomechanical data that's going to lead to this.

We want to get your swing back here and we can compare guys, all this stuff. In the end, dude, it's just, hey, you're a fucking stud, man. let's go. Here's a drill I think will help you. That's it. It's still that. Hitters are still, pitchers on the other hand are different. Hitters are still like, dude, we're just, let's just do it, man. Let's just pump each other up and do some drills. So I said, okay, let me go look at these splits and see if I can find one that he's not good at for his career and for his it's can you get him under a 900 OPS for his career right handers 97 left handers 960 shit can't get it there um if you go home his home splits 963 oh it's a great place to hit maybe on the road he doesn't do as well 994 on the road first half yeah maybe he starts out 967 second half he gets better 994 you can keep going I found two I found two.

You can talk high leverage, low leverage, medium leverage all over the nines. You know when you can get them, Jake? In May. Oh. It's a mere 879 OPS in May. Everything else is over nine or mostly one dotting it with this guy. Then I was like, what about like opponents? Like who has his number?

center and it's just nobody else in the game does that like maybe Aaron Judge and Otani but nobody else like he's so consistent. And this is what I always talk about with him. Like he's never off balance right there. That pitch is so good and he just, there's no panic with Yordon Alvarez at the plate. And you see that a lot with hitters. I know the feeling very well. When you're up there like, I can't. I got no chance right now.

It just isn't that way with Yorda Alvarez. So I give him the last Trigonian award. He's unbeatable. I hope he wins the majorly baseball triple crown because I feel like he just, he just, flies under the radar still. Oh yeah, he's a great hitter. He's only a D-H. Stop trying to mess with our formula. Because these guys are doing it. Joey Ortiz for the past month. Cooper Pratt, the light bulb might be going off a little bit.
