Hello and welcome to Talking Baseball.
Homa, Homa, it's time.
The annual Homer draft, we get a team.
So do you the people.
That's how we're different.
Let's yuck ball.
Read Depmerch.
Harmon Killebrew.
Get it out of the lake.
Hello and welcome to Talking Baseball.
Best baseball show in the world.
I'm Jake Story Ellie.
That is Trevor Plouffe.
Rob Chiracroko is producing his butt off.
Dalton Feeley got us all the stats and information for everything you could want,
home run-wise, as we do the Homer draft today, building out a lineup.
Each player we pick a team gets eliminated.
So watch me and Trev stumble over that a couple times.
And that will leave an all-fan team at the end that we put together for the people.
We have last year's results.
and a fun way to kind of look into what's coming up for this season,
Trev, and to look back and be like, oh, yeah, Cal Raleigh did do that last year.
He went off last year.
He was on my team.
Yeah.
I had two big boys on my team.
You somehow still got me by nine homers last year.
I know that's why you were setting me up for that pop.
I'm okay.
We'll give you your flowers.
You did a great job.
I had Cal and Shoah.
The rest of my team didn't really put on for me last year.
year.
Yeah, it's, well, I guess we'll get right into it.
As Trev mentioned, yeah, I guess Lil Poppy took it home.
I mean, just strategy, ability.
I landed with 254 home runs, Judge Early, a good pick for me.
Shea Langaleers, you know, pulled his weight from the catcher spot to not get destroyed
by your Cal Rale.
And then, yeah, you had Shohei.
I had Yordaun, so I lost 49 homers from the D.H. spot from you.
And then, yeah, I just kind of chipped away.
Pete, Catelle-Marte, Jose Ramirez, Bobby Witt, James Wood, Luis Robert,
Judge and Yordawn.
You were Cal Vladdy, who Vladdy's always, the offensive profile is there,
but 23 home runs.
It's be interesting to see if he, we always do this debate.
Like, is Vladdy ever going to try to try to,
change his swing a little and then we're like no yeah why would no because it works really good
what's his what's his career high no what hurt you coach trev Matt mclane and royce
rois lewis you played the royce lewis card um elliot romano again i might again jake yeah
i know you might and that's and that's the concern uh the fan team so a we're fools uh nobody
took anyone from the Phillies. So they got Bryce Harper at first, William Contreras behind the
dish, Nolan Gorman at second. Caminero gave the fans a 45 burger. Seeger with 21. Riley Green
with 36 was a great pick from them. Michael Harris, two at 20, Kyle Tucker, 22, and then Jorge
Saler kind of tanked their team. So what's that? I knew Vlad had a big year. 48. I forgot about that. That was in
2021. That was the
Dunedin Park.
Not to
Dunedin to Buffalo
to Toronto. I think that was that
year that there was some
again, no allegations
of anything, but I think the ball
was getting out of there a little
better. It's one of the oldest
ballparks. Oh no,
Buffalo. One of the oldest ballparks
in professional
baseball. In Buffalo.
Okay.
Okay.
I know maybe we should have done this.
Would it be, again, it's a lot of work on the fly for Dahl.
I wonder if we should just do a fans.
If instead of giving them a team, we just got their best possible.
I think they'd beat us because, like, they would have got Schwerber.
I don't know.
We'll see if that happens on the back end.
Let's get into this year.
Last year's gone, dude.
It's over.
How many of those homers roll over to this year, Treve?
Zero.
None.
New season.
Hunter Goodman?
Let's get into it.
We're just going to go back and forth, side to side.
We did decide.
I think we've landed on a good thing to figure out who should get the first pick.
And by the way, I don't think the first pick super matters.
I think the first couple picks are kind of obvious.
Well, let's see.
I think Rob is going to pick a player for us,
and we're going to guess their career home runs.
Well, here are the players.
off of a baseball reference.
Darren Oliver, you want to do.
Darren Oliver.
He might tell me butts.
We got Larry Deerker.
Do you guys have a preference or do you just want me to choose a random?
Maybe pick a position player.
Pick a position player.
Yeah, we're going to want a position player.
I think your safest bet is Sedano there?
Which Sedanio was that?
That's Cesar.
Yeah.
Oh, baby.
Okay, we got, like that Cesar.
Uh, Caesar Sedano, how many home runs does he have?
Trev, would you like to go first?
Can I get like the years played?
He played for 17 years from 1970 to 1986.
I'm, I'm going to write down, I'll type my answer into the computer so I could, you know, no funny business.
I'm doing a little, I'm going to do a little math here.
I'm going to go with, um, 50 career stolen bases.
That's a little telling for me.
Caesar could run.
Cesar could run.
How many?
550. Oh, I thought you said 50. I was going to say that's crazy.
550. Okay, it means he played a lot.
17 years. I'm doing a little math. I'm going, I'm going to go seven a year,
which would put me at 119. Okay. That's not. That's not.
That's an incredible math of it's right. But there's no way. Is it? Wow.
I wrote on my computer 79.
In my head, I've heard of Caesar Sedano.
And I have him being all speed that I'm picturing old school slappy that I wrote down 79.
Caesar Sedano has 199 home runs.
What a baller.
200 homers?
He had a few years, Jake.
You don't know Caesar Sedanio?
26, 25.
22.
26102?
Oh, my goodness.
200 homers 550 steals from Caesar Sedanio.
I'm glad we're paying some respect to a guy.
How many gold gloves was that, Bob?
Was that four?
Back in the day.
We didn't look at defensive war.
Five.
Five.
I'll pull some strings, get Caesar to Daniel on the hall of pretty good.
Oh.
Look at you.
using your powers for good.
The internet do your thing.
It's going to happen now.
Well, coach, you have the first pick in the draft
and I'll just do it quick again for the people.
Building a lineup, so we've got to hit each position.
And it's a team eliminator.
So if Aaron Judge were to be selected,
that would rule out Austin Wells at the catching position.
It's, you know, this is a two horse race right here for number one pick.
It's between Shohei, who?
has 153 homers over the last three years,
20203 to 2025,
Aaron Judge 148.
Sometimes I worry,
like,
is show I ever going to feel fatigued?
Right.
Like,
is he going to be tired?
Some year he should be sleepy.
Like,
he should be tired.
He does a lot.
But you know what?
He loves more than anything,
Jake?
What's that?
Sleep.
This guy is like a sleep master.
That's why he's never sleepy.
Right.
I forgot about that whole thing.
Yeah. He like travels with his own like mattress, like easy.
Yeah. So a guy that takes care of his body like that, I'm going to be in LA. It makes sense. I'm going show Hey, Otani. That's my DH position. Dodgers and Shohei off the board. Number one pick. Wow. Greg. Solid pick. And I thought it was a three man race for that first pick.
It could be.
But, I mean, and not to get the draft off to maybe too speedy of a start,
because I can't.
If I pass on the big fella, there's just too much regret there.
And I could give some, you know, catching stuff,
and we've never seen that before.
But yeah, I don't know.
I guess you're kind of right.
It had to be Judge or Shohei.
And you know what?
I think for a second I was like, oh, great,
here we are starting the Homer draft with Judge and Shoah.
Good.
We should start off more show.
with Judge and Shoah.
We should do episodes on just them.
That Aaron Judge will be my right fielder.
And I'm pretty good with that.
Only 53 last year.
But pretty good year for Judgey.
Can I read some stats of his actually really quick?
I want to ask you something before you do that
because it's going to be a little segue into it.
A lot of talk.
I do a show of Dan Rourke, big Yankee fan, big Judge fan.
A lot of talk about Judge being.
possibly the best right-handed hitter ever.
That's like going around.
What say you on that?
I mean, man, I'm not like a baseball historian at that level yet.
Like as I'm sneaking up on full midlife crisis,
like I think one day I'm going to like Kirkajan,
Busterolni, just lock the doors in a Vermont cabin and like do it.
But as of now, as far as four-year run,
go.
62 homers, 58 homers,
53 homers.
And I think the other part that's cool about it.
And I don't know.
Like, Judge won the batting title last year.
That's what I'm saying.
I think he's so well-rounded.
Power, average,
everything is there for you.
He's in those three seasons
because he missed 50 or so games in 2023.
But so in 2022,
22, 23, and 24,
or excuse me,
22, 24, 25.
So Cal Raleigh, who might be a upcoming pick in the draft,
out homers him last year.
But he led in Homer's two of those three seasons.
He led in walks all three.
Like the batting averages, the last two years was 322, 331.
So, yeah, I'd have to dive into the history books a little bit.
And in my lifetime, like, I feel like we had these conversations with
miggy cabs and pool holes at certain points.
And off the top of my head,
this current stretch that judges on,
out does kind of their best,
their best stretches that,
yeah, man, I know you opened the show with,
did you drop a Harmon Killebrew at the top?
I did.
Like, you know, I'd have to go really dig into some of those dudes.
But I'll tell you what,
it's not like it's just us or Dan Rourke throwing those words around.
Like, you know, you'll see passers.
articles or you see but so the fact that if it wasn't a conversation that's when the old heads
come in and they would shoot it down and they'd be like why don't we put why don't we put some name on
skinny lucorelli's name um but they're not doing that because judge is that guy obviously it's
it's a conversation always you know it's ongoing judges in the prime of his career how old is
judge right now.
31?
Judges going to be
34 in April.
Wow.
Right?
It looks great,
by the way.
Looks great.
Looks great.
Not slowing down.
Knock on fucking wood.
Okay.
Well,
that was our judge talk.
I have some interesting
kind of game planning
here for you because
great.
The next,
you could wait on
Kyle Schwerber if you
wanted to do.
Only caveat to that is
I could just pick a Philly.
You could take Harper?
Yeah.
I could take a, I could take a Philly.
Brandon Marsh breakout.
I don't know.
Yeah, I'll, I'll, will some things going on there.
It doesn't matter what I do, Jake.
So there is that gamesmanship, but I'm just going for me.
I'm not even thinking about you right now, Jake.
Love you so much.
I like that.
I'm not thinking about you.
I'm doing my thing.
It's me time.
And the catcher position, there's such, there's a massive drop up.
I love Hunter Goodman.
Yeah.
I want everyone to know that.
my guy this year. But there's, there's the big bad man. They just won the Super Bowl. He was there in
Seattle. Cal Freak and Raleigh over the last three years, 124 hit 60 last year. The lineup around
him keeps getting better. Brendan Donovan, by the way, in a Mariners uni, looks phenomenal. Oh,
wow. I haven't seen this yet, but you should have seen how quickly Bob just went to the keyboard.
We'll get it in a second. He had the teals on.
what do they call that marine green whatever it is i don't know gorgeous he looked great there he is
oh wow doesn't he look good that's a nice tone because red is harsh dude red is harsh like it's
you got to be the right kind of like player for red i don't know man i didn't fully realize that i went
my high school uh was red and a i mean you're dealing with some high school acne in a couple
photos that that's just, I mean,
just accentuating it. Yeah.
And then you know,
you've seen, you know, the brilliance
of Jimmy's brain that, you know,
Jimmy'll say, oh, I don't wear red.
Like, that doesn't work for me.
Blue, gray, white,
make those eyes pop, big daddy.
Cow's the pick
because of the 60 homers last year
that no catcher
has ever done before.
It, um,
I don't know,
Mariners fans don't care,
but it's going to be an interesting thing to watch this year.
Like if Cal gets off to a hot start,
I mean, everyone's going to be losing their mind again and good
because we've never, we're talking about we've never seen it from Judge.
We've never seen it from a catcher.
If he gets off to a slower start, I wonder the noise in Seattle.
People just care if they're winning.
That's kind of what it comes down to.
Seattle, they're on a high right now.
Baseball team good.
Football team. Unbelievable.
Brendan Donovan, Cal Raleigh, they go, they'll go in the woods and shoot an animal, right?
Is Cal like that? He's such a nice guy, man.
Nice guy.
Can't believe how nice he is.
Florida State.
Really?
Charlie Woods.
I always have Florida State as this, like, party school, which I think it is, but it's also like a good school.
Yeah, it's a nice, it's a really nice Florida mix.
What does that happen?
Even like Florida people talk smack on Florida State.
Talonasty.
Never went to college.
Never went to college.
Central Connecticut State.
So I'm going Cal Raleigh.
I had him, Shohei and Cal on my team last year.
They carried me.
So I'm back, coach.
Great picks.
And if we're being honest, the draft begins.
And like you said, it's this weird thing.
Mentally, we want to play defense, but it really doesn't matter.
It's just kind of like.
No, it matters.
I have my next ticket.
Yeah, I'm ready.
I'm ready for this draft this year.
I think I might surprise you.
Well, I think we're thinking to the same guy.
That's the problem.
Really?
Yeah.
But if you do that, then I have a counter.
Do you want to give me, my pick is locked.
Do you want to give me the last letter of their last name if we're thinking of the same guy?
Last letter to the alphabet, baby.
Yes, we are.
Ooh, this is fun, coach.
Well, Schwerver is not on your team then.
Oh, shoot.
Should I take Schwartz?
You know what, Trev?
I think this is the beauty of it,
and this is where the conversation really begins.
We are thinking of the same guy.
It's not Eugenio Suarez, by the way.
No.
Who also hit 50 last year?
Maybe it should be.
And this is really dumb.
I don't know.
I guess this kind of reveals the cards,
and maybe this is a sneaky storyline of the season.
Some dudes are different, man, and I know the baby face.
It might be deceiving.
If this guy did it on your team, you would be screaming from the rafters.
I'm going with Nick Kurtz.
Let's go.
Big Amish in 117 games last year hit 36.
He got off to a slow start, which if you start butternifing the stats, things get even crazier.
And Trev, I think.
the secret option that was probably in the back of your head is the fact that they're playing
another season like we already referenced Vladys 2021 they're playing in a little bit of a cheat
code ballpark um that i will take kurt's comma nick to be my first baseman i love it i mean i thought
that was going to be my sneaky pick until i realized that you know ball just like i know ball and
i knew that was coming he's we talked about it there's guys
The only thing you could say is, look, is the league going to figure him out?
Sophomore season?
I've said on this show, he doesn't seem like that type of hitter.
There is swing and miss in the game, but I mean, you get that when you have the power that he has.
He also takes good hacks.
Swing decisions are good.
So, like, I think he's going to be fun.
He looks the part of a guy that's going to be around for a long time mashing the baseball.
So, yes, the park helps.
but I also think he, I don't think it matters where that guy plays.
He's a dude.
Yeah.
And again, I just, I've told the people on here before,
but I remember all the prospect people,
when they start talking with a certain level of confidence,
because you can't do that with prospects.
They were like, no, this guy, he's going to be on the team very soon.
And I think he's, I think if he wasn't an athletic,
he might have already been up.
And yeah, the butter knife.
which I don't, it doesn't make the numbers that more, much more impressive.
He started off slow, his first 23 games at the big league level,
208, 259, a 558 OPS.
So, you know, first three weeks of games got out of the gate slow.
In 94 games, 35 home runs, 309 batting average,
409 OBP, a 1.1 OPS for his final 94 games.
So I'll take a chance on it.
I think he might just, there's a chance he joins the ranks.
There's a chance he doesn't, but I'll go down swinging with him.
The opposite field power, Trev.
He one dotted it, man, last year.
That's silly.
It's just silly.
420 at bats.
Shout out.
Oh.
Good pick.
Now, it puts me in a bind here a little bit because do I play defense already with my
third overall pick?
I'm in your head like that. That's fine.
No, no, no, no.
Because Schwabers still available to you.
I could block you by taking Bryce Harper right now.
Take Royce Lewis.
You would counter that by taking Pete Alonzo with your first base.
So I could either take Pete from you or Kyle from you.
And I'm deciding right now which one to do.
Because Kyle Swarber obviously is, he's a banger.
He's a threat to hit 50 homers.
That's correct.
I don't know if Pete has that in the bag.
I think I should block him.
And if I go Harper, if I go Harper, was there a second baseman I can take or like an infielder?
I don't think so.
If I go Harper, he's got the Dave Dombrowski chip on his shoulder, man.
The naughty leaf in the batting cage.
Wow.
You love GM quotes.
You love GM quotes.
I, first of all, stroke of genius by.
Dave Dombrowski for
figuring out how to motivate
Bryce Harper.
Basically, you just shit talk them
in the media.
And Bryce is like,
what?
There's a chance Bryce hits 50 this year.
He's pissed.
Not happy.
I'm playing.
It's a little defense.
It's a little.
I think Bryce is going to go off here.
I'm taking Bryce Harper
for my first base slot.
Look at you and me.
We're living up to our old man or young man reputation.
Do I have all old?
No, I'm just saying Kurtz and Harper back to back with kind of like,
what could Nick Kurtz be?
And both of us also just being like, I don't know.
Bryce Harper's younger than Judge, right?
We've just seen Bryce Harper for an extra decade.
I'm big on like the Bryce Harper massive 2020.
six train. I'm driving it.
Do you drive a train like that? I don't think so.
Ooh. How do you drive?
I think you're like this.
You normally see them.
I think speed is the biggest factor.
Yeah, but I mean, don't you just go like this once?
And they're like, all right.
I have no clue. What is a train conductor?
I have no clue.
Is it rigid?
Does he push the door open button?
Is it a rigid process to become a train conductor?
You'd like to think so?
Ain't no way, go.
It can't be easy.
Harper is 33.
He turns 34 in October next year.
He's younger than Judge.
We've just seen him as a 16-year-old on Sports Illustrated.
Yeah, man, I never bet against talent.
He hasn't had, I guess he had 30 in 20, 24, 35 and 21.
And yeah, I'm ready.
Like, when's the Dumbrowski-Harper picture from spring training going to drop?
I want Bryce to not even.
even look at him.
Dude,
I want him to,
like,
hold the grudge.
No,
I've got...
He doesn't really mean it.
I've got Bryce wearing a massive,
not elite shirt and like shaking his hand.
I'm like,
Hey, Dave Dombrowski is smart.
He'll,
he'll double down.
In spring frame,
no way.
Bryce came in.
That's a mutiny.
I thought he,
you know,
would look.
You know,
it maybe needs to focus on his off season weight training program a little
little more.
Just give it.
He just keeps going.
Yeah, Harper looks a little bit sheep.
What was the, uh, during the CBA times, didn't it?
Bryce went out.
He told Manfred, get the F out of our clubhouse.
Yo.
Old man Bryce is going to be fun, dude.
Ooh, interesting.
That might be a, that might be a keep him off at Twitter.
Um, okay, Trev.
You better take Vinny over Pete because they move.
the fences in it, Kaufman.
So something you kind of missed is
Nick Kurtz is a first baseman. So my
first base position is
locked. I mean, you're right
about that. It did kind of miss that. But
the main thing was to block you from Schorber.
I like it. And maybe defense
wins. Okay. And a
quick update. So
an instant veto. We had
Dalton put together the best
fan best
possible team from last year. And they would
have dusted us. So we're not doing that.
They have the advantage of hindsight.
Just picking, like, okay, Joe Adele gets on there with his 37.
But no, sorry, fan team.
You're going to be locked in just like us.
Ooh, Coach Trev.
So I need everything.
The Kurtz picks.
I don't want to say I regret it because I live without regrets.
Man, Camerero's an interesting one.
Because they're leaving.
They're going back to the drop.
They're going back to the drop.
Like how much do I think a baseball stadium really affects home runs?
Kind of a loaded question, right?
Ask Willie Adamas that.
Dude, Willie.
Couldn't see, coach.
That was crazy.
You know what?
I know what I'm doing.
Because I think there's a position that's sneaky,
a little tricky to find the homer ball.
Let me just make sure I've got my positions right.
No, there's a couple guys over there.
But I think I still want this guy,
because I think Speed was the name of the game last year.
I think Soto's going to have his crazy Homer year.
Give me left fielder.
Juan Soto, which allows me to put him in the corners with Judge.
Remember?
I do.
They were a pretty nice tandem.
Give me Soto the left fielder.
I think he got his speed fix-in for one year to be a trivia question.
His career high in Homer-Homers was with,
was it with the Yankees or did he clear it last year?
He did.
So his past two years, Soto went 41 homers,
43 homers.
Those are his two career highs.
Just a reminder, we just played the age game with Harper and Judge.
So, it was 27.
Dude, it's insane how young.
He does not look 27.
No offense.
None taken.
No, you're right.
It feels like Juan Soto should be 30.
He's not.
That he's boosted his career home runs the past two seasons.
He led the National League and Steele somehow last year.
Don't know what to do with that.
If he starts locking in 40 a year,
when you start thinking about where his career numbers could potentially start going,
Soto and Judge, I've seen it work.
Yeah.
I have an interesting draft strategy.
I'm trying to go, like, where the discrepancies are.
Like, is there a player at this position that is, like, so far ahead and above everybody else?
And I thought, like, this would kind of be another one of those positions.
I'm looking at the shortstop position.
Last year, I had Gunner Henderson.
I'm a big gunner bounce back guy, like, obviously.
Like, that's, like, the easiest take of all time.
So I'm deciding, coach, between my two doppelgangers.
Oh.
Gunner and Bobby.
And how about those names?
I don't think anyone's ever.
Does Bobby ever change?
Bob Witt?
Can't.
Robert Witt Jr. is pretty good.
That feels like some good Vinnie P.
messing around.
I'm high on the Royals this year.
I mentioned they brought the fences in at college.
often. That's got to help a little bit. Gunner is going to get protection from Pete. I'm assuming.
Whoa. Whoa. This is, this is tough. Okay, for the last three years, I'm going to get that sheet up.
Nice, Trev. Look at you. You're a front office man. Looking for the weakness in the market.
Are we even, are these guys even on this list? Bobby Witt with 85.
and then obviously, you know,
Gunner was hurt last year,
so that kind of hurts his total.
I can't block anybody from you.
Trust your heart.
With, like, the Orioles pick or the,
you already have a first base and so Vinny's out.
I think I'm,
I'm gonna go with who I think's the more dynamic player.
And like,
the guys are both,
I'm going Bobby Wood Jr. here.
I'm taking Bobby Witt.
Trev, I think that's a pick.
Interesting from Bobby.
Bobby, 23 and 24, 30 homers, 32.
He went down to 23 last year.
He did lead the league in doubles and a little talking baseball special.
They moved the fences in a little bit, right?
You said that?
You said that?
I stopped listening.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
That's a little talking baseball special for you.
I said out like at least three times.
I stopped listening.
I'll be honest.
I got my draft board over here.
I'm really focused.
Also, in Baltimore, who knows what the fences are going to be this year?
They change every year.
Yeah.
Move it back.
Move it in.
Make it higher.
Make it shorter.
Kind of crazy.
Bobby's a pick.
I think he's as safe as it gets.
Yeah, I like Bobby.
Gunner's great.
No qualms with Gunner.
There's another shortstop option that I like as well.
I want to say why another reason, AL Central pitching.
Oh.
You're going there.
I mean, that's nasty work, Coach Treve.
But you might be right.
All right, so you're Cal, Bryce, Bobby Shoah.
Oh.
I have Soto Judge and Kurtz like that a lot.
I think, Trev, you got my brain spinning about position of weakness.
I'll be high and tight with it.
I think there's only, oh, well,
There's one power second baseman, or there's one best second baseman at this point.
It's Catele-Marte.
I will take him, plays in a great hitters park.
That team hits every year.
Second base, there's jazz, but Judge would block you on jazz.
I think that limits the field over there for you a little bit.
And I just think who he has been the past couple years at the second base position can't be denied.
He had 28 homers in 126 games last year,
36 and 136 the season before Ketel.
It's a really good pick.
It does limit me.
It's a nice one.
I thought about going Ketel there.
Corby and Carol, get out of here.
Yeah, it's tough.
Another second base option also hurt Jackson Holiday with a hamate bone.
I wasn't really going to go ham, but...
No.
You might have sometimes at the end of these drafts, you get a little loopy that I could.
I could have seen a last round Jackson holiday.
Because I could have blocked Gunner from you.
Stop playing defense.
I like you.
Start playing offense, pal.
We're hitting homers.
You also forgot about one guy that hits homers that plays second base.
It's on a new team this year.
Oh.
I don't need to pick them right now.
Okay.
I mean, Caleb Durbin late.
That's fine.
Is Caleb?
What's Caleb Durbin listed at?
He's listed at second.
I think they're going, it's currently mayor,
mayor at third, Durbin at second.
I don't think that's the case.
If you talk to Red Sox people,
I think he's going to play third
and Meyer can kind of play wherever.
I think they might move Meyer to second base.
You know what?
Me and Jolly Olive,
who does some baseball content on the internet,
we had a chuckle because we do the tier list
before every season.
Last year's second base tier list
when we recorded it,
the Red Sox second baseman was
Christian Campbell
Alex Bregman
Oh, because he was
That's right, that's funny
So that was never right
Was never right
No, everybody knew that that was not the truth
For about one week
Alex Bregman was the Red Sox second baseman
And that's when me and Jolly Oliver recorded last year
You got the ball coach
I do have the ball
And I think I'm going to fill a nice hole here
God, this is a kind of a stacked position.
Look at the third base position.
It's pretty stacked.
You talked about Junior Caminero.
Obviously, Gino.
He's in Sinci.
I don't have anybody from Sinci, do I?
No.
God, that's a good one, isn't it?
Not bad.
That's...
Gino and Sincereo.
Some value.
There's value there.
Center field is still in place.
for both of us.
You know who I'm going to pick
in center field.
And we should have, we should.
You know who I'm going to pick in center for.
I feel mad we didn't say this before.
Julio getting just blocked by,
Julio getting blocked by Cal being the best power hitting catcher of all time.
It's kind of brutal for this draft every year.
But.
Why?
Well, Julio's amazing.
I think he would probably be the first center fielder off the board.
But he gets blocked.
by the first catcher off the board.
Byron Buxton would like a word.
Make it happen.
He's doing it. He's going to just run it.
People are going to fall in love with Byron Bucks on the international stage, baby.
Can't wait for that.
I fight for my guys, Jake.
That's good.
No, I'm happy.
Buckson's going to become international after this step back.
All right, where the heck do I go?
This is fun right now.
I'm having a really, really good time.
We each have four picks in.
You're currently projected to have two more homers.
Projecting.
Yeah, we're doing it.
I did have the first pick, so that's good for me.
I think I am going to go with a guy who's like,
tool is homers.
Sure.
Who just went to one of the best Homer parks in all of baseball.
And I'm going to go with another Z name.
Yeah.
And Eugino Suarez.
Names that end in Z.
as a lot of shows traditionally highlight.
Yeah.
I'm taking him.
It's a great pick.
He is familiar with the park.
NL Central pitching.
That's pretty good.
Shoot.
Some pretty good pitchers in the NL Central.
There's some not-so-good pitchers as well.
It doesn't matter.
What he does is hit Homer.
So I'm taking Aeohenio.
Projected for 33.
I'm taking the over on Aaheino and 33 homer.
So thank you.
Put them in on the draft board for me.
argument for best pick of the draft so far.
Gino 49 last year and going back to 2021, so that's what, five seasons, he only has one season
under 30.
Like, we do this every year with Gino.
And again, that contract, God, I hope he balls out so the nerds have to apologize.
Because to hit 49 homers and then hit free agency and it goes down like that, that's insane.
I've asked you
to use the word nerds anymore.
Again, I use it as a term of endearment.
Not that time.
Yeah, a little bit.
You're right.
That's fair.
I'll put my hand up.
I think we all have nerdy sides to us,
and I think that should be embraced.
I think the nerds and where they've landed on Gino
just doesn't sit right for me.
The fact Pittsburgh didn't throw like three years at him,
oh, that last year might be bad.
Who cares?
You might have to trade away skeins if you don't do something.
Great pick, coach.
And speaking of great pick,
and near the halfway point in this draft,
why don't you guys go check out PSA?
That's right, people.
We're talking cards.
You know those baseball cards you've had since you were a kid,
the one sitting in your parents' basement.
God, I had a box.
I would just go through every night.
Maybe it's still there in your house.
wondering if they're still worth something.
Stop wondering and find out with the help of PSA.
With the PSA app, you can quickly scan your cards to find out their estimated market
value.
Love that.
Then you could ship them to the hobby's number one authenticator to get them graded
and ready to sell from there.
Seconds away from listing them on eBay accepting zero fee cash PSA partner offers on
eligible cards or storing your items in the PSA vault.
No taking pictures, filing out long selling forms, or dealing with potential.
potential buyers. Just one app, one shipment are all it takes to go from sitting at home to
graded enlisted for sale. Step up to the plate, turn your cards in a cash with the power of PSA.
Head to the link in the description and use code Baseball 25 for $25 off your first grading submission
terms apply. I had a big old box of cards right next to my bed growing up. It was a mix of football
and baseball. Or I should have said baseball and football cards. That was the
emphasis I was trying to cook because you don't see a ton of football cards.
And dude, I would just, I literally could reach from my bed, not see in the box.
So I was just playing roulette basically every night and be like, oh, okay.
There'd be like O. Lineman cars.
That's how I learned who Anthony Munoz was, Hall of Famer.
Okay.
Before the, before his commercials.
Anyways, great pick, Coach Trev.
Some are saying the pick of the draft.
Some aren't.
I'll be honest.
Um, let's see.
Center field, I've got just staring at me.
That's the current position that you and I would not be,
or you and I both don't have is center field.
Um, oh, should I buck daddy?
Oh, that's interesting.
We've, we've gone just completely opposite.
Yeah, we've kind of.
Except for first base because I tried to block Schwerber from me.
That's it.
Might clean up the end of the draft?
Might not.
We might get dirty.
Man, I could take Buxton and ruin your day, and that would feel pretty nice.
What?
What?
Say something.
You know, I have another friend that's a center field.
I know.
We have two friends that are center fielders.
God, does that team have other home run hitters?
It's just like everyone on that team kind of hits home runs.
Maybe I'll leave it, because I like both of our friends there.
that was that was the conversation I just had with myself.
Wow, when Door got taken off the board because of our actions.
He's also hurt. Let's see how that plays out as we do this.
I'm going to be true to myself, man.
I think this guy's back in a big way.
I've talked about it on a lot of different forums.
Give me Gunner.
Give me Gunner.
I think Gunner's going to be back.
I think he had that injury to start the season.
I think the Orioles season got off to the worst possible start
that baseball gods can give you, including his injury.
2023, he hits 28, 24 he hits 37, fourth in MVP.
Last year he hits 17, which is a fine shortstop season,
but he came into the year banged up
and then he had some like launch angle
the swing was just a little bit off
everything was just a little bit off
last year for Baltimore and Trev
I know there's
there's a lot of numbers that say line up protection
doesn't matter
I think anyone that's ever played
or watched baseball knows that's not true
and dude with Pete behind him
yes
give me the huge gunner year
I believe
you mean seeing more
strikes, pitches in the middle of strike zone is not good for you?
Hey man.
What forums have you been on, Pop?
Dude, I'm just, again, I guess it's been a couple years since I've looked, but there's a lot of,
a lot of the analytics teams have research lineup protection and they say it doesn't matter,
which I, I haven't done the research they've done, but I, I feel like it does.
Hitters hit. That's like an old school saying.
Is that what they're saying?
I don't think they're saying that.
I think that's what they're saying.
I think it kind of is what they're saying.
They're kind of like if you're good,
you'll find out a way to be good.
So I do get that.
But I think if you're gunner and having that guy behind you,
I think that matters.
That guy rolls out of bed and it's 300.
How many times I heard that?
Real scat.
Nobody does.
Basically arise and nobody wanted him.
Oh my God.
Don't.
Arise is the biggest buzzword in the industry right now.
Yeah.
Look out.
Kind of need him and Gino to ball out this year.
Just for like the better.
You're in on that, huh?
I don't know if I'm in.
I'm not in on his defense.
He can hit.
He can do the,
yeah, he can hit.
He can do the hardest thing to do in the sport.
So we just need to figure that out.
As we've talked about, like,
if Ron Washington does what he's supposed to do,
I want to see, I want to see,
I want to see him in like the middle of the pack second baseman defensively.
That's what I want to see Ron.
I think you can do it.
Okay.
I have no outfielders on my team.
Correct.
Look at this.
Interesting.
Yeah, this is interesting.
I think I'm going to go with a guy here.
It's huge.
Who is sneaky,
who did a,
really good job last year
and who's like got like some of the best
swing profile of anybody in the big leagues
he's a freaking monster
I'm gonna go oh gosh
I just saw somebody else pop up
uh oh oh
who do I believe in more
Riley Green who's a pretty established here
also 25 like we've
we have a little Riley Green fatigue which is just
He's 25?
Yeah, dude.
He's a stud.
Or do I believe in James Wood to just absolutely go off?
Back to the Youngs.
Have you looked at his savant page?
Yeah.
And James Wood, I don't know if it was injury, fatiguer than Nats, but he kind of limped down the stretch last year.
But he was out of his mind for a little bit.
That's a tough one for me.
Let me just one sec.
Okay, a little late research.
15 seconds.
Can I ask what you're looking up for the people?
Nothing. Don't worry about it. I'm taking James Wood.
Okay. I'm taking James Wood. The guy is,
hits the ball harder than anyone. Average X-DV though is 94.3. His bat speed,
76 miles an hour on average. That's in the 95th percentile. He doesn't chase a ton.
He does swing and miss. He walks. He does everything right.
I'm taking James.
It wouldn't surprise me to hit 40 this year.
He is 23 years old.
Yeah, man.
Both those guys strike out a lot,
but I guess what I would push back on
is if you do everything else they do,
then I don't care.
That's how the strikeout formula
should mentally work for people.
And yeah, if he, if his full season,
because let me,
I'm getting to the splits right now,
In the second half, he had a 690 OPS, which is nothing like, I don't know, shouldn't kill the team, but we expect more from James Wood.
Only seven homers in the second half.
So if he can put it together for the full season, like 40 is there for him.
I don't want to say easily, but.
Yeah, me, 31 overall last year.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Good pick, coach.
Proud.
Okay.
I need a catcher.
I need a third basement.
I need a center fielder.
I need a D.H.
I think D.H is a little wonky if I'm being on.
Um,
ooh.
What'd you just find, big boy?
Huh, ha, ha, ha.
I know who you're going with.
Okay, no, I've got options.
I got options.
I didn't think I was going to like what I saw when I saw D.H.
But I got options.
You know what, man?
I'm just scared you're going to do something dumb.
I've got only one catcher I want left.
it's time for Hunter Goodman respect season.
I'm scared you're going to take Bretton Doyle from me or something like that.
I just can't risk that right now.
Dude, Hunter Goodman got so screwed by Cal Raleigh last year.
That is just an amazing catcher offensive output season.
That he had the same amount as Langaleers.
They both hit 31 last year.
I think Langalear's got some headlines
because his second half was just so nutty.
But what Hunter Goodman last year was historic
from a young catcher, 31 home runs,
520 slugging, Coorsfield.
I couldn't risk not getting him at this point.
I might have picked Mickey Moniac for my right field.
Oh, you love Mickey Moniard.
I do, bro.
You love Mickey Moniard.
That's my freaking guy right there.
A great pick. Hunter Goodman.
I always call him Josh Donaldson lookalike,
which is a big compliment.
Josh Donaldson, Gistice.
He's kind of like a psycho.
Like in a good way.
Josh, if you hear me say that,
I mean that in a loving way.
A good competitive athlete psycho.
Like,
that's what you want.
Like on the field,
just a wild man.
Yeah.
Yeah,
there's some chips on the shoulder still.
Yeah.
I'm coming for you in golf though, Josh.
Look out.
Okay.
All right.
That's a good pick right there.
Catching position is interesting.
I know what you're looking at.
for DH.
And I still can play defense.
I've got a couple.
I've got a couple.
You can,
no head games over here.
I got bodies I like.
I'm curious because here's the thing.
I know you're still looking at Yordon,
which is obviously a great pick.
Love him.
At the end of the draft to get Yordon.
I could go Altuvae.
We have enlisted as a second baseman here.
Is there,
is there a renaissance?
Is that where you'd call that?
Altuve.
Atene.
Sneaky hit last year.
year. It's not his peak level.
He's not 26 homers. Yeah, man. He got, he got really hurt. He started out really slow, didn't he?
His war is nothing from last year because they played him in left field. And apparently his second
base defense just doesn't, doesn't pass anymore, which the few times I watched Al Tuvei last year
didn't feel toxic, but also I would refer to Houston fans on that. Wow, he actually was better in the
first half. In my mind, he came out struggling. Maybe that's because we saw him in left field.
Yes. Yes.
And 801 OPS in the first half, 76 in the second. He still hit 26 homers. And I could, I could play.
This is, this is a elite defense right now if I went there. Let me just see who else is a
bill. Because I think I was in to go Brandon Low. Brandon Lowe. And again, now you don't know which
side I'm playing. I thought
when I saw Lowe, I was like, dude, that would be
a nice little Pittsburgh
respect pick.
Because he did have tied for the most
home runs at second base last year.
But
I'm...
You said you have other names
at D.H. I mean, those are
the names. You can't take Rooker.
You're going to think this is BS. I have
I have names
I like at D.H. I have like
four names I like. I'm trying
think like who's moved into the dh spot that i haven't thought about yet are you going to go
miguel trout on me he's he's a good baseball player huh you like his baseball card i love his baseball
i love mason mike trout i also like mason mike trout you know what mike moustacus member at trout
national that doesn't that doesn't connect as well as he's he's he's invited me to go play with
them there that's very nice if you think they're going to let me in that's like a very exclusive
Oh, I didn't fully put together what you just said. Yeah. Tell him you, me, Bob will go promote the damn thing.
Even though I don't think they want promotion. I think they want that at all. They don't want normies there.
You know, Jason Vargas is like this like sneaky, like super rich guy. Really? Yeah. I don't know how much you made in his group.
I think it's a lot. I think a little bit of everything because he's Moose's boy and he tells me all about this stuff.
doing like dang bro rob can you bring up the picture of jason vargas's postgame interview where he looks
ridiculous but there's also a time traveler that's interviewing him this was a talk in baseball special
i know exactly what you're it's one of the more wild pictures we've had i can't when rob brings
i'm going to send it to jimmy because it sparks emotions in him what is that no way a hey and
And with all due respect to Jason Vargas, if you,
that doesn't look like a professional baseball player in that moment.
I know he was doing a lot of hair stuff at the time.
He's a lefty picture.
He's a lefty pitcher.
The time traveler.
In the back.
That is, it's one of the craziest pictures I've ever seen.
Jason Vargas spends, I think he's in Scott still,
but he spends a lot of time in Malibu.
He's thinking about moving.
out here. Like, this guy's like an international man of mystery.
He looks like it there. And I spent, I think he also like spends time in Cabo like throughout the
year. Like, he's just doing the right things. I wish I could do if I did videos like Jolly Olive
of just, I would do a video of lefty pitchers that you consume as, as fans and you're just like,
I don't know, like that's just a guy. But they're probably the best athlete in one of the richest
people you've ever met.
Like Jason Vargas,
Jay Hap.
Like you just look at them and you're like,
oh, who's this, like,
who's this friendly,
who's this friendly dad character?
And you're like, no.
There's a lot of them out there, man.
Those guys are MFers with nice little
wallets to go with them.
Shout out to them.
So have you picked?
I'm going Jose Altuve,
coach. I'm taking your gone from you.
I got to do it.
Look, like my options are B. Low.
Polanco is listed at second base here.
He's a first baseman.
So, like, he's out.
You know, like, is there an Ozzy Albi's power year?
Is there, you know, like, the Simeon find the stroke?
So it's basically, to me, to me, it's,
and it's B. Lauer Al-2-Bez.
So I'm taking out-tube.
I couldn't take two.
It's a great pick.
It's a great pick.
What's the wow about, coach?
I just remembered.
I just remembered a player who I don't know if either of us are still eligible to pick.
Dude, there's a couple, there's like a couple stars.
Like we talk about, you know, baseball and what does a star mean?
Like, Shohei is an actual superstar.
Judge, I think, is a superstar.
There's a couple guys who are stars that we haven't even, like, flinched at yet.
Oh, I have one in the future.
There's an...
Good luck.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, I'm happy for you, or whatever.
Um, let's start getting ugly.
Don't you dare.
Are you looking at a third base position right now?
I'm good with my third bit.
I have two third basement options.
If you want to get ugly, knock yourself out.
Give me Byron Buckson.
He's about to be an international superstar.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You want to dance?
You can't do that.
You want to dance.
I want a polka.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Go Twins, go.
He's such a stud, man.
Traded to the Yankees mid-season, I don't know.
Don't, don't do that.
I did.
He said, first of all, no trade clause, pop.
Yeah, you know how those no-trade clause works.
Make my wallet feel a little bit.
You guys have your center fielder.
What are you talking about?
Trent's versatile.
Steepy Trent.
Cody's versatile.
Is in your sleep?
That's what you guys call him?
Cody to first, Ben Rice, behind the plate.
Cooking with gas.
Hey, did I see Austin Wells show up like pretty thick?
Oh.
Was that not what I saw?
Rob just went to the keyboard.
I'm very excited.
We leave tomorrow, or as we record this, we're going to Tampa for spring training.
And Joe's McFly, one of our favorite people on the world, proud Dominican man is going to link up with Team DR's catcher, Austin Wells.
No, Treve.
Okay, there was somebody else.
Okay, he looks great.
Oh!
I know who you're talking about.
What was that?
One of the Yankees, like, hitting coaches.
Okay.
With Max Fried.
With Max Fried, yes.
Yes.
One of the Yankees hitting coaches is like Austin Wells' powerful uncle.
Yes.
I was like, dang, bro.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
I'm glad.
Austin Wells looks great and he can dance.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Shout out that.
He doesn't look bad.
No, that guy's a beast.
I should look up his name.
If that was Austin Wells, we'd be like,
what did you do this off-sostics?
That would, it would, it would be covered,
it would be covered on, I think that's, is that Casey Dykes?
You're up, by the way, and sorry I took your guy, but I'm not.
That's okay.
I have center field and right field left.
In case you want to do something stupid at third base,
I have to get this pick in now.
It's one of the superstars that you were talking about.
it's my guy who just like he might hit 50 this year it's Ronald Le Cunia Jr.
Yes.
Thank you for my right feel there.
What that's great pick.
Great pick.
No, I, um, dude, I just had a moment of panic where I was like, we haven't mentioned Fernando
or Ronald Acuna Jr.
We hadn't mentioned any Braves until Ozzy Albies while we were doing the whole first base thing.
Matt Olson never got brought up.
I, it's tough for him because when we're talking about, I block.
you from Kyle Schwerber with the Phillies.
So I took Harper.
And then Nick Kurtz is kind of like this lotto ticket.
Yeah.
I took a chance.
But like it's the highest upside you could do.
That Yankees coach was Preston Claiborne assistant pitching coach.
Yeah, dude, my realization, if people want to rewind back to that on the YouTube, was Ronald
Ocuna.
Like I compared him to Manny earlier this offseason.
I think Ronald Cunea is about to have a second half of it.
his career that might overshadow his first half of his career.
Like that's how good I feel about him.
Matt Olson, I mean, just over since 2021, 39, 34, 54 in 2023.
Where were you at in the MVP in 2020?
Four?
What happened?
Dude, there's a lot of studs.
54 and 139.
That was the Ronald de Cunia year.
Yeah.
He went 41.773.
Mookiee Betts went 39107
and Freddie Freeman in front
See the Freddie Freeman one doesn't sit well with me
He should not have been in front of
Wow, Matt Olson
Look at you
L.A drama
Yeah Matt Olson should have been number two that year
Gunner's nine war year
He finished fourth in MVP
That's insane
It's tough man, tough sport
Okay Trev you thought
Byron Buxton was me being nasty
Get ready
Where are you going right here?
I told you there's a few DHS I liked.
I'm going to make a defensive play and a safe play.
Defensive play, you can't defend me from anything.
What if I take Sayah Suzuki as my DH?
That's fine.
You're good with that.
I thought you might go like Matt Chapman and be like, oh, look, I got your guy.
PCA out of center field.
That takes the cubbies out.
Yeah, I got my guy.
I love PCA.
Okay.
Um, that, yeah, I'm, um, official?
That's official. That's locked in.
I, I debated Mike Trout. Um, uh, also I could have, uh, George Springer.
George Springer had an amazing year last year.
We have no, we have a Blue Jay. No, we'd have no Blue Jay.
You have no Blue Jay. Oh, no. That's who I thought you were excited about in Center
Field. Okay. Now what? The plot twists again.
Blue Jay's fans. Look, you just want to.
They're a contact team.
David Popkins.
They don't want homers.
They don't want homers.
They don't want homers.
Okay.
This is, okay, I do have an interesting decision
because my last pick is a center fielder.
So you took Buxton,
can't take Julio,
available to me who, like, has a true chance.
PCA now gone.
He had 30-something last year,
31, I believe it was.
Jackson Merrill,
who
30 year guy, like he's hit in the 20s before,
like really feeling it.
He's, what is he, 24 now, 25 now?
So could he be coming into his own?
Do I do the Joe Adele?
Because, I mean, he does, that's what he does
is hit homers.
It's a homer draft, Jake.
It's a homer draft.
It's not who's on the best team or whatever.
go do real quick. And by the way, while you do that, you know, we spent more time on the
time traveling reporter than Sayo Zizuki, who hit 32 last year. And every year he just hits.
Cubs fans were mad at us a couple episodes ago. So yeah, we should talk a little bit more about the
Cubs. Yeah. No, Seah is a MF and dog, dude. 130 OPS plus the last three years. He is a dog.
And they have a great team this year.
Great team.
And the brewers are going to be going to be going to be.
They're going to be toe to toe to with them the whole way, if not ahead of them.
Jackson Merrill's tough.
And like Joe Adele.
Yeah.
Now last year was his like first year of like full kind of full season, 152.
He hit 37.
The year before that put 130 games hit 20.
But he's a guy that gets streaky.
This guy could hit.
This guy could hit seven in a week.
That's the kind of guy he is.
So he really hurt me.
No one took Matt Walner.
No.
Which is like he's going to be the steal of the draft
if we would have taken him.
Dalton Varsha.
This is a tough thing.
Yeah.
I thought,
I thought Varsha, who was,
I thought that's who you were waiting for in center field.
His home run hitting stats last year were nuts.
Like Popkin stays away from him.
27, 2018.
He had 20 and 71 games.
extrapolate that coach i'm extrapolating god and we're yeah this is a make-or-break pick for me this is the pick of
the draft everyone's saying how old is he i got it our show highlights he's 29 this is age
30 season he's from milwaukee didn't know that about he's tough he's tough dude doesn't give a shit
It's a grinder.
Why do you want me to take him so bad?
One to take Toronto fans off our backs.
He's really good.
When I looked at our sheet, I thought it was him or Jackson Merrill.
Joe Adele 37 last year, Pop.
I know.
A Halo fans have a reason to be mad.
I debated Zach Netto.
I debated Miguel Trout for DH.
I debated Joe Adela.
I mean, you can't do Netto over Gunner
or Bobby.
Yeah.
I mean, he's really good.
I love Zach Nett.
I'm a Zach Nett.
Truthor.
I've been since the day
I saw him debut.
26.
Give me Dalton Bar.
Oh, what?
Oh.
I said,
Dalton Fili.
It's hard to ignore
20 homers in 70 games.
That's a lot.
But,
Joe Adel did it.
He did it.
He hit 37 and 150.
50. So he actually did it. He's done it. Former top prospect. Give me Joe Adele.
Good pick.
Good pick. Wow. We are getting some of the teams that are going to be left for the all fan team.
Podres. I think so. That was your last pick. That was my last pick. I didn't realize that.
Holy cow. Yeah. I thought I was taking my time, bro. I have fantastic news.
Oh, actually, I don't.
Crap.
I have third base left.
And I thought I was going to take the layup in Jose Ramirez,
because he's Jose Ramirez.
He's as safe as the bacon gets.
There's a ray out there.
Junior Caminero hit 45.
This guy is a...
Was he the number one prospect?
And he did it?
He hit 45.
No, Jose Ramirez is so dumb.
Okay.
You're getting 30 from Jose.
You're getting 30.
It's just done.
It's just done.
You're probably getting 30 from Junior Camerrano as well.
Right?
Like, he's that guy.
He's that guy.
Have you checked out his savant page?
If you have it, it's pretty good.
Miguel Vargas for the White Sox.
Give me Camerro.
We're playing homers.
We're playing homers.
Why be safe?
There's no reason to bet against Junior Camerro.
Yes, maybe the ballpark gave him a little boost.
He's also, you know, his age, Trev?
He's 22 years old.
He swings the bet harder than anyone in the big.
He's his average bat speed is 78 in a half.
It's 22.
He's 22.
Holy sheesh.
Cannot rent a car.
That's kind of a myth.
They just charge you more.
Think about,
renting cars is crazy.
Think about the guy
that swings the bat.
You're like,
this guy is a fucking monster.
Let's just go Aaron Judge.
Okay.
He's a monster.
Talk about him again.
Yeah.
Junior Cameron Arrow,
it's actually a good one.
Swings the bat a mile and a half harder
than Aaron Judge does.
Aaron Judge, obviously, no slouch.
77 miles per hour average bat speed.
So Junior Caminero is just whipping that thing through the zone.
And with results,
at BatSpeed definitely has a correlation.
He's surrounded at the top by O'Neill Cruz and Jordan Walker.
So, hey, I hope the light bulb fully goes on for those guys.
Joe Adele, Schwerber, Kurtz, Judge, Vladdy.
And at number nine, the Minnesota Moose, Matt Walner.
Dude, bat speed is one of the leading indicators of, like, ball.
And Walner's there.
I've been working, got the leg kicked down.
We've been talking.
He wants it.
Would have been a good pick.
I just, I'm on show his page's page.
I want to see what his bat speed is.
Also very good, a little bit below those guys, 75.8.
Like, basically, like, yeah, whatever.
He's one dotted it each of the last three seasons.
It might be more.
I've just had the last three up coach.
It's pretty good.
Holy snikies.
Pretty dang good.
Trev.
Okay, so your final team...
Oh, this is hilarious.
Your final team.
Cal Raleigh, Bryce Harper,
Jose Al Tuvae,
Gino Suarez,
Bobby Witt,
James Wood,
Joe Adele,
Ronald Acuna Jr.
Shohei Otani.
You are projected
to hit 269 home runs
this season.
Nice.
Pretty good.
My team,
Hunter Goodman,
Nick Kurtz, Catelle Marte, Jr. Caminero, Gunner Henderson, Juan Soto, Byron Buxton, Aaron Judge, Sayas Suzuki.
We are projected to hit 268 homerals.
So, you have won the draft.
Let's fill in the people's team.
And this is a fun exercise for me.
And Bobby, I think Dalt might be floating around if there's anyone who stands out,
I think shortstop is Corey Seeger.
I think we did that last year.
Yep, for Texas.
So Texas is off the board.
I think that's got to be the pick for them.
Or no,
Willie Adomas is also there.
Seeger.
Seeger's our guy.
Because he has a chance to go.
Yeah, they have to do that.
Plus it leaves a good option for us,
third base.
And then I think let's go to right field and go Nando.
We need a Padre?
Yeah, Tate's, yes, yes.
Go Nando there.
He could win the MVP outside of Shoah.
Let's go Varsho and Centerfield
because we don't have a Blue Jay.
Like that.
Well,
Oh, baby.
Did Riley Green not get picked?
I think he should be in the corner then.
I was thinking about Jackson,
Churio, but Riley Green, let's go him,
because we need a tiger.
I think we did this last year.
Is William Contreras the best
catching option left.
People love Ivan Herrera.
We don't have a Cardinal?
We do not have a Cardinal.
We have Sal Perez cannot be there.
Yeah, I mean, it's, yeah, we have to do it because we need to do the team.
So let's go, Ivan Herrera.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
No, I think that, I think that plays.
This is where it gets a little crazy.
I'm looking at the first base now and we've picked all of the guys.
Let's Devers.
Devers is still projected to hit like 30, yes.
Oh, my gosh.
So that allows Devers at first.
You could go J-Ram at third.
Oh, my gosh.
You can go.
This cracks me up every year, dude.
We can go B-Low.
Absolutely, Brandon Lowe at second base.
At second.
This team is nasty boys.
What position do we have left?
So center field, I think we're locking in Varshow.
Yeah.
Let's lock in Varsho.
And then I would say Miguel Trout at DH.
What other options do we have?
Yeah, let's go.
Mike Trout.
Just love him on the team.
And then we can take a second and digest and see who else.
We have one left.
We have, no, we're done.
Wait, did we use an angel?
Oh, we did.
Joe Adele.
I'm sorry.
So we can't.
We need a different DH.
Yelly from the Brewers would be an option.
your guy.
You do not have a brewer.
I'm not sure who the Red Sox are D-Hing.
Who are our teams?
So the final teams left are the White Sox,
the Brewers, the Marlins, and the Red Sox.
And again, we can do one last-
Is Marka-comi going to be a DH?
So-
Can we butter-knife that a little bit?
I'm open to it.
He's listed his first base.
And by the way, the projection people
have him hitting 30 this year.
that in a way it means nothing,
but they also, like they have Soto hitting 34.
So the projection people think Murakami is going to run into a few this year.
It's thinking.
I'm thinking right now.
No brewers would be the most brewer's thing ever.
Murakami, I mean, we joked about this.
He's on the group chat last night.
Chris Gets thinking Acuna Jr.
Or no, Acuna, Luis San Hell, is a switch hitter.
That's tough.
That's tough, man.
Because he's like tripled, quadrupled down on it.
We make mistakes all the time.
Make mistakes, but we're not GM.
I don't know.
General managers.
I'm very interested to see, because this is going to get back to him.
Like, is he just going to say, I screwed up?
Is he going to say it's an accent?
I don't know.
I don't know what you do with that.
You know what he could just say?
He's like, we tinkered around with having him try to hit Switch.
I think they're going to go with that.
We liked his profile from the left side.
I think we go Murakami.
Yelly hit 11 in 2024.
We love Yelly.
With a 406 on base.
I don't think we can, dude.
That's cheating.
Okay.
Third base and first base is what he's listed on baseball reference.
Then it's Yeli.
That's the only like DH.
So it's Red Sox?
Red Sox, Marlins.
Isn't?
Contreras is playing first.
Right now their D.H is listed as like Duran,
which that doesn't even make sense.
He was on my team last year.
Okay, so Red Sox, Marlins,
White Sox, Brewers.
It's Yelly.
It's Yelly.
He had 29 last year.
Like that's...
Okay.
So the three teams not picked,
and this is where we can second guess the fan team,
the Red Sox, who they don't project
to have a home.
Homer, Homer guy. It would be like Roman Anthony, or if Contreras goes nuts this year.
Is that picture of Roman Anthony real?
Lealierbray, what I haven't seen.
Oh, he's massive.
I think he's a beast. I think he's, like I think.
Bobbo, I know you're on it. There's a picture of Roman Anthony behind the cage.
It's nice up.
Oh, my gosh, he's massive.
That's not real, bro.
No way.
That's not real.
Is that real?
We're not sure.
Bob, run that through the AI machine.
That can't be real.
That's not real.
That's not real.
No way.
What would you do?
I mean, Roman Anthony was just, shake your hand and crush it.
He looked like the mountain there.
That's not Roman Anthony.
No chance.
We got video.
We got video.
You can't fake video.
You can't, I guess.
You can't fake video.
I don't fall for the fake videos yet.
No.
That's a normal, that's a normal human.
That's pretty normal.
I don't know.
He's a beast.
Like I'm not, oh, Bob.
Barefoot.
I love the socks.
Socks without socks.
I think we're home.
I think we're home.
What are they projected for?
211.
The fans.
Feels a little dirty, but yes.
We smoked them last year.
It's fine.
As we take the top 20.
The top 18 projected Homer guys.
Yellywood's 16 projection.
Come on, he's Christian Yellich.
Get over yourself.
It's a tough ass from the fans, I'll be honest,
but it's where we're at.
I think the three teams we left off make a little bit of sense.
Someone on the Red Sox is going to go nuts.
Murakami is kind of the White Sox hope to go nuts.
And then Marlins, I guess you can make an Augustine Ramirez.
or stowers or stowers.
But let's see the young guys get it done.
Anything else you need to get off your chest coach.
Ball is here, man.
TPP's starting next week.
Yeah.
We record next week.
Two weeks.
We record next week.
They're not coming out, people.
Relax.
Maybe next year we do the all-blocked team.
So then it's like all, it's like Alonzo.
It's PC.
I get that.
Yeah, maybe we work on that.
That's the best left over, though.
That's just the best left over.
And that leaves more teams out of it, which I don't like.
Yeah.
I like that three teams get left off.
That's kind of dirty.
Speaking of, Trevor Plouffe, Jake Strombole,
let us know everything we got right.
You'll probably let us know what we got wrong.
We will be back.
Monday, Wednesday?
Wednesday.
Today is Monday.
We're Lincoln Horn soon.
Woo.
Jake sucks.
The vibe of the city right now.
Jersey City?
We put on a New York night?
We need one.
We always say that never happens, Coach.
I want to go out.
Let's make a res and go out.
It is President's Day today.
Wow.
Happy President's Day.
Favorite president, go.
Ted Roosevelt.
