this beautiful baseball community. And I really mean that sincerely. You're fresh off a flight from Toronto. Straight here. I got my hotel room at 4.30 in the morning last night. On my 40th, here we are talking ball for the peeps. Yeah, it was one of those moments where I was kind of like, man, it would be really cool if we had that like Kirk Herb Street,

Stephen A. Smith treatment when it's like, oh, look what Kirk Herb Street's doing. He's doing the pregame show in Oregon. And he's flying private to the game. And he shows up and calls the game. And it's like, okay, he's got his dog with him. Like, I'm here. I got BBD and Zach hanging all over me. I'm stripping sweat in the back of an Uber.

That doesn't matter because this is what matters. The beautiful people of Toronto were fantastic. A lot of, oh, we loved watching you guys last year. Your guys' reaction videos when we beat you in the postseason. Those were so funny. They're like, yeah. Glad you're watching. Let's take the picture.

but the Yankees got the last laugh in the Great North this weekend. Happy 40th Coach Trev. Your service to baseball is second at this, third at this company to probably Chris Rose and Jimmy. Okay. So I don't know. I've been in the game since I was four years old, but okay. Yeah.

I mean, Chris Rose has that tripled. And I don't know. Jimmy Time. He's younger than you think. Jimmy Timeway. He's younger than you think. That's a good Chris Rose insult. I can't wait for that.

Happy birthday trip. Rob's got something for you. Maybe we save it for the standings. I think we dive into it because it was a big week in a ball. As you're covering your twins, I guess I was covering my Yanks. Yamamoto, perfect game. Mookie Betts intentionally tanks it. I can't wait.

And we got some legendary names in the game now. Lou James Grover. Groover. Groover. Yeah. It's always been a name sport, sneaky. And Trev, I guess. Donovan.

Don't worry about Donovan Walton. Don't worry about Donovan, although I liked his Homer the other day. Trev, we're a, well, the World Cup is here, so that's a whole deal. And go soccer. We support our soccer brother and football. The NBA and NHL are done. Like, if there's a seat geek read, they're out, Pop. It's baseball season.

Summer's here. I'm dripping sweat. You're going to see through this shirt by the end of the episode. So, hey, congrats to the Knicks. Congrats to the Canes. Your guy, Shelfi's cousin is on the Hurricanes, Robinson. He's from a family of winners. Yeah, that's true.

It's true. So congrats to everyone that you can now finally enjoy baseball. baseball season and because it's Friday, well, it's Monday. Straight off the plane. Straight off the plane, people. I don't know what to tell you. Sat next to Jimmy on the plane. That was nice, you know, a nice moment.

Propeller plane. So again, not what Herb Street's flying on. Yeah, dude, it was a whole. Sam's like the queen of Toronto now because she married a Canuck. So she's got this like sneaky Toronto airport, but they don't let big planes in. So yeah, it's literally, we were like cruising. I think we did a 360 at one point to land it. Let's talk some AL baseball.

And look at this. We start out in the Great North. The two winningest teams in the American League last season teed it up in the ALB. Says the Yankees went to Toronto. Don't pronounce that second T. And after the Blue Jays, one game one, Alejandro Kirk is back. How's your three for three? not bad, but the Yankees grinded in that game, got to Toronto's good bullpen, and did that matter

later in the series? I think it did after the Schlitter-Gossmann pitchers do well. The Yankees, Paul Goldschmidt, and then the Yankees put up five in the ninth inning of that second, third game, to win the series. How do you like that? White Sox, place the Dodgers and the White Sox win two out of three. These Chicago White Sox at home, I think we're 20 and 4 in our last 24 games. A little math there for the people. Like we mentioned, Yamamoto basically pitched a perfect game. Mookie, a little sabotage.

Outside of that, it was a lot of White Sox baseball. Antanachi, get your hands through, kid. Montgomery, the United States. The M&M boys in the south side is what people are talking about. They take two out of three from the mighty Dodgers. Guardians, two games sweep over the Tigers because we get a rain out. And it's the scores you'd expect. 3-2-3-1.

The unfortunate news, it's another Hamate episode. Jose Ramirez with the Hamate. He's going to be out for a while where Terrick Scouble came back in this series. didn't help Detroit as Cleveland takes the two games. The Boston Red Sox kid, they win a home series, which that has been horribly rare this season. Insanity. The first series they've won at Fenway since April 6th through 8th. We're looking at July 4th on the calendar soon, people.

And they did it with a little help from Scotland. You want to see a crazy baseball crowd. Go check out Sunday night's game. with Connolly Early representing the Scots. It is the game that Boston lost in the series, but that's none of my business. They take two out of three. Rafael, man, I love him.

Oh, Red Sox player, whoops. Astros take two out of three from the Royals. Did you watch Trev did on his flight in at 3 a.m. Astros take the first two games. The Astros' offense had to come through like it has had to all year if they're going to win. Bryce Matthews with the dagger pinch hit home run. And then they, Kansas City Royals, if you're looking for a cursed team this year, not turning that double play.

Golly, in the ninth inning. And then losing that one. They salvage a set because that's what they do. The twins, where are they in the standings? They take two out of three from the Cardinals. A dramatic 9 to 8 first game. They lose that second one, even with Ivan Herrera launching two yakers. But the twins take the set.

Ryan Criedler. A modern Trevor Plouf, two hits off the pine, maybe more of a story, Ellie. Angels take two out of three from the Reyes. Oh, race still kind of scuffling. While the halos shut them out in that middle game, Jose Soriano back on his BS. Denser Guzman, where were you went? Two hits, sure, don't care. Ace, take two out of three from the Rockies.

We're in Vegas. The A's rally in that second game to win it. But the Rockies do hang a 23 burger in that final one. So if you like runs, how do you like that? That's what happened in the American League. Nobody better, Pop. Donovan Walton, my guy. It is Monday.

You mentioned that before you started there. So I will start. Let's go west on the West Coast, Jake. Where are the Seattle Mariners? I have one game leading that division. 37 and 36 for them. They're getting healthy. Calralli is coming back.

Okay. The A is one game under 500 tied with Texas. I'll see them tonight. 35 and 36 for both of them. The Astros, 33 and 40, and the Angels, Swilly Deportes, 29 and 43. And then in the Central, you mentioned the White Sox.

Are they the most aged up team in baseball? Yes. No, that's the Giants. but they're close. 38 and 32 for them, tied at the top of the division with Cleveland, who's 39 and 33,

and then you mentioned my twins. They're six and a half games back, Jake, okay? Okay. Seven games under 500. The hitting's been good, the pitching, not so much. 33 and 40 for them. The Tigers,

it's starting to get into what is you doing baby time. Yeah. We'll talk. 29 and 42 for them, a half game in front of the Royals who are 29 and 43, and then you're Yanks.

Jake, boy. Yeah. One game lead on the Tampa Bay race, 43 and 27 for you guys, 41 and 27 for them. And then Toronto, 34 and 38, Boston 34 and 39 and, or excuse me, Baltimore, 34 and 39. The sticks are coming out for them. And then Boston is the 29 and 40 team if the wild card was a start today. Tampa Bay. The A's in Texas would all be in the playoffs. Toronto, City, one and a half games back, Baltimore and my twins, two and three games, respectively.

Today we salute you, Mr. Member Guest Winner. Mr. Member guest winner. When conventional wisdom said the Braves were not going to win the 2021 World series, he predicted it anyway. They won in six games. You have 106 home runs in the show, but none more important than hitting one-off a position player. That game was going on forever!

You're a Minnesota Twins legend. Over four war in 2014. And someone who would do anything for the Twins. Why did he cover that hand? So this day is for you, Mr. Coach Trev. We know you'll have at least 80 more of these. Wow.

I love you, Bob, that was nice. That was nice. Going to be an emotional left. Was that a little real men of genius kind of spin off a little bit? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That was beautiful. Wow, I don't know if I can tell you all.

I'm happy you got the baseball bat size blunt in there for me. That bad boy. Holy smokes. Because you know who I saw this weekend? I did see Nameless Joe. No, the guy? I did. Yeah.

Love me. some nameless, Jeff. All right. Happy birthday. Let's talk some goddamn baseball. And why don't we start off in Toronto? Because we did leave Joe's McFly up there still. We went up. A lot of fun. A gorgeous stadium. I don't know if that's where I should start. If I was kind of blind-ranking stadiums and just some of the ones I haven't been to yet, Roger Stadium A with the roof open, a little bit of a cheat code, because you have the CN Tower there. It was a beautiful day. But the sight lines throughout the stadium were gorgeous.

Really, really loved it. Walked away better than I thought on the stadium. And the baseball, we got there for game two. Schlittler, Gossmann, with a fun little pitchers duel. Gossman had some amazing swing and miss stuff. Schlittler kind of had to grind a little more. Toronto had tough at bats throughout the series. But the Yankees, again, through that Toronto bullpen,

they end up scratching out two wins late that the Yanks, without Judge, without Jim Carlos Stanton, who just got bad news on his calf injury, the Yanks have a new look. A lot of young guys kind of fighting for playing time, a lot of platoon stuff that when it's working, it feels phenomenal. It feels like, you're, oh, we're going to put our lefties in today. We're going to pinch it here. This is great.

When you lose, you're like, hey, I'd love to have Judge and Stanton. But right now it's working. Yang's getting off to a nice start in June. That is a very accurate way to describe a platoon split. When it works, oh, of course it's going to work. Look at this guy's numbers. When it does, you're like, this lineup stinks. Yes.

Where's our guy guys? Yes. That's a great way to look at it. I know the Yanks won the series, but I was going to give Okamoto my standout performance. We got to show the ball that goes into the fifth deck. Crazy. Oh, we got to show that.

Well, maybe we'll think. Maybe we have Bob dig up both homers because, yes, he goes fifth deck, which is insane. This, no, bone, look at Vladdy's face after this. And you know, like, you know, people, I love that. He's got 15 on the year, by the way, leads the team. And a lot of times we talk about these Japanese hitters that come over. We're always, oh, I don't know if they can handle the Velo. we gotta stop saying that.

We gotta stop saying that. Look at what these guys are doing in this league, dude. Okamoto was the- They're going to be fine. Okamoto was the guy. They were like, I don't know if he's going to have the power stroke. It looks like there's something there.

He's got 15 already. First guy to go up top, up top, up top, since 2017, that old Hunter Goodman MFer, Josh Donaldson, visited the roof, the Rogers.

He was probably against the twins. He probably, He hit 30 homers against us in my time there. And then Rob, yeah, I don't know if you can get his one-off camp Schlittler. Schlittler, your AL-Sy Young favorite, look where this pitch is. It's up and in like it's going to hit him. And he just goes tank job, 98, out of the zone. Yeah.

Yeah, it was kind of funny. When the Yanks played the Blue Jays the first time, Okamoto was in his first slump of the year, I think he might have went hitless. And then this series, he was their power threat. that yeah, hey, these Blue Jays are also super banged up. I know we've said this a lot. Vlad is out for part of this series. Jimenez gets banged out.

Where's Varsha? Like, they are, where's Addison Barger? They are missing guys. And yeah, this, hey, if you did this series, you put it in the simulator machine a couple times. These eighth and ninth innings go a little different. And I don't know what happens with the Yankees, but I know what happened this weekend that they win,

they win a nice series and they're it's fun man they've got like chippy okay we got runners on base are we going to steal are we going to is the bunk coming out which again sounds good when you're winning sounds horrible when you're losing yeah i mean it is a different look team for the yankees for sure and then you know what paul goldsmith has meant yes so far this season can't go understated uh nobody takes leave arlin up top like that and he did literally nobody has first homer of the year oh man good for you guys that's that's a fun brand of baseball to watch i wanted to touch on um the caballero stuff people need to stop getting on him what's you're out on it no i'm in on it i everyone else should be out on it um if you

don't know jose caballero he is messing with the pitchers in the pitch clock um that you know You have to be a batter in the batter's box, and you have to make eye contact with the pitcher at the eight second mark of the clock ticking down, which is the batter's defense to the pitchers being able to stand on the mound and hold the ball forever. He just, he picks and chooses, and dude, the umpires take the bait every time,

and it's so delicious. He held the stadium hostage for three minutes. But, like, the point of what he's doing, doing is. So yeah, like I know it doesn't happen all the time, but if, if you are a hitter and you feel like you are getting, again, yeah, you lock eyes at 12, 13 seconds. And then the pitcher holds the ball until two, like standing there for 10 seconds is a long time. It seems like an eternity in the box. I wouldn't want that. So I think a time, if I was playing in the pitch clock air, there's no doubt I will be doing some semblance of this if I felt like I wasn't getting like my fair share in the box.

Yeah. I have no problem with it. What he's doing is legal. He openly talks about being a pest-type player. Before he was on the Yankees, he pissed off Garrett Cole so much. Cole threw one over the backstop while he was in the batters box. He knows his game that he's out there to be a pest, be speedy, be versatile defensively. And maybe that's where to close off some of the Yankee thoughts.

Go check out Talking Yanks recorded live from the hotel at the stadium. They had Caballero in that game. I believe he played second base, third base, and left field while being the Yankees' primary starting shortstop. So Max Schumann is getting moved around and playing a ton of positions that the Yankees have this like, it's a fun hodgepodge weaponry group right now from the Yanks. And as long as they keep winning series, we'll like it,

and then we'll beg for Judge to get healthy. Anyone could have had Paul Goldschmidt One year 4 mil For Hall of Fame player Who worst case is going to bash lefties And he's been doing more than that He's been awesome Awesome

Another thing that looks great when it's working And wouldn't if it wasn't Is Jazz Chisholm wearing John Carlos pants and using Judge's bat That's another thing Jazz gone jazz He's entertaining after a slow start he's been he's been pretty good it's um

Trent grisham gets banged up in this series yanks yeah i got two Toronto things number one got to figure Vladdy out got to hit homers Vladdy got to be the guy in the middle of the lineup um and then you got to walk ben rice in that situation open base jason domingas who had just gotten called up like i'm taking my chances with him every single time it's a tie game so who cares you're putting somebody on i believe this got to like a two oh count Right?

When you worked into a three, two, count, whatever it is, I think it's, you can't pitch to him right there. You can't do it. I think you're probably right. Ben Rice is still second in a lot of, like, offensive categories to your Don right now. That, yeah, if you're not treating Ben Rice like that, you should.

And maybe after that swing, they will because my God. Yeah, Vlad's got some lower back stuff. Blue Jays, hasn't clicked this year for Toronto, whether that's Blue Jays or baseball, or whatever it is. We're starting, you know, it's mid-June, middle-middle-June, if you will. They're like, some of these teams

got to figure something out. Lou James Groover. White Sox Dodgers, two of the better teams in the sport this year. One was expected, one not so much. And the White Sox continued their domination at home, Treve. You know, I've told the people this, we do a lot of, you know,

the MLB has the 15-minute recaps of the day, after. I do a lot of watching those to try to do some quick catch-ups. And man, watching these, like, these mighty, mighty white socks and seeing Chase Midroth go opposite field and start screaming around the bases, there's something that just tickles your baseball core of like, look at these young dudes who everyone thought they were going to suck again this year. And they've been, you know, if you go through the league standings, they've been consistently one of the better teams since mid-April. this year.

Yeah, I mean, they just, well, I think they swept the Braves in the two-game series, and then now you beat the Dodgers. I mean, you're feeling pretty good about yourself. But they do. They have the energy. I mentioned, like, are they the most aged-up team around? Like, they're close. Like, they do play with a certain sort of, I don't know, energy.

Energy. I was going to say gusto, but does that, that's? Yeah, that works. It worked. Works for me, yeah. They do. And the stadium's coming back to life. I mentioned that a few times.

It's really fun. How about like Miguel Vargas? Yeah. You know, big double in that first game. Obviously, could have been a World Series champion if you were still with the Dodgers. But hey, you get traded. But now they got a good thing going here. I'm a big time on the White Sox.

I had them. I called it earlier. They're going to win the AL Central. I truly believe that. And I don't love to use this phrase a lot. But I do think there are times during a season where you, like, Like you look, okay, how do we really match up against these teams? Yes.

They've passed that test. They passed the litmus test, man. They really have. So, like, this is a very confident bunch that's playing great. And then even to, you know, you win the first game. What is it? They scored five in the seventh. Something like that.

And then you get basically, you know, no hit by Yamamoto. And then come back and you win that last game, win the series. and that just tells me like they're they're a legit contender in the AL Central. Like that's what it feels like to me in Chicago. I have some more White Sox coming up. Their domination. Eight straight series wins at home. Best record in the AL since May 9th.

Like again, there's a lot of very real stuff here. Trev, I'm dying to hear what your Yamamoto, Muki Betts, perfect game thoughts are. Okay, pull the video up, Bobo. What up? Stop it. If stop it at the point of. contact oh you're you're deep in it ground ball to short right there where's the ball can you see the ball i currently don't see the ball yeah look at the infield it's it's this happens from time to time

it happens from time to time it happens there more often um than it should uh if you go go go like take videos we're going to show more clips throughout this uh the series like you'll notice the color of the dirt like that's very difficult to pick up that ball right there really in with that they use a lot of top they call it like turfis or whatever the heck it is they use a lot of that there i'm not the biggest fan of that infield but you it's very difficult to see the ball right there mookie's got to make the play other ground balls were feel or feel it during the game but that's that's difficult man okay uh yeah dalt just noted i think on the dodgers broadcast they're They talked about that a little bit.

I think it was Caros. Yeah, that's some inside the game stuff. I don't have that in my bag. That's just tough. Tough. Perfect game. We're due for a perfect game. That guy's sad.

You think you're going to watch history. You handle it perfectly, by the way. Oh, I'm shocked. But go white socks go. I mean, they're doing it, Jake. Go white socks go. More on them coming up later from the little guy. Guards two games sweep.

It's like I joked about it's a little bit Guardians. You know, Schneeman comes in and hits the two-run Homer. Absolutely. Why won't he? Scoobles back. It doesn't help Detroit this series. And I think the bigger thing is, how is Cleveland going to survive with J. Ram out? He was just starting to get hot.

Like he didn't have his greatest start to the season, but in his last 10, he was really starting to go. De Lauder and Angel Martinez go down to that, okay, it's like that Guardians, that time of year that they're looking around like, all right, we have to do this now. I want to say it's going to be almost impossible for them to keep up with these guys out, especially obviously J-RAM because he, even if he's not performing at his best, he's still obviously the heart and soul of that team. When he's not out there makes it very, very difficult. But then I'm like, is this the Guardians? Is this when they go on like a 15 and 5 run with like all the big players stepping up? Like that kind of seems like that could happen.

But in my mind right now, it's going to be very, very difficult for them to do that, man. That's, I guess I haven't looked at their schedule coming up. But like, J-Ram's going to be out for six weeks, six to eight weeks. Yeah. You just, I think if you're a Guardians fan, you just kind of hope, Can we play anywhere close to 500 baseball during that time? I have good news and I have bad news. Okay.

Guardians are about to start a road trip at Milwaukee. At Houston. At Chicago White So, yeah, it's going to be an interesting stretch. You're right that 500 maintain. And we see it from this team. And this should be complementary in this. moment, whether it's Schneiman getting more run. David Fry, was he an All-Star?

Like, they've got some plug-and-play dudes that's, let's see him plug and play. Bazana, go nuts. Reese Hoskins, our guy guy. Yes. There's still obviously enough there with the way that the Guardians play baseball. And by the way, Detroit, maybe that rain out is a blessing because they still need to, they got to go. And I know they got scoble back.

but like they need to start winning a lot of games fast and this weekend was not that. This year. This year was not that. This year has not been. Let's see. Chewing through the rest of the AL. Red Sox win a home set.

Snaps for them. Rafael. Three hits, two doubles, Homer. When he's, he's been contributing all year. He's a really fun baseball player. And then he does it again in the seventh inning of that next game to have the Red Sox win the first two games

and then they lose that final one to Texas. Texas still sandwiched in that A.L. Playoff picture and the Sox still not, but Scottish night was as electric as baseball gets. They must be so confused because the Red Sox during this series were like all the colorful jerseys that they have. I'm sure they didn't know what's going on. But Red Sox offense coming to life here in the series

and it has been really, really tough for them in Fenway, man. I saw it firsthand, but they finally get that series of victory. I mean, we're probably not going to talk about this in the long run just because of what Boston is doing this season. But the contraris trade is looking like one of the best of the offseason. He's been phenomenal for them. He's been like their one steady force all year long, man. I mean, damn.

that's a bomb right there. Yeah, he, 965 OPS on the season right now. It was interesting, you know, talking to St. Louis people before the season and being like, can he play first? Or like, what's the deal? And they're like, yeah, he can play first. And you look at his offensive stats every year. I mean, as consistent as it gets. And you remember so many of those years he's playing catcher that, yeah, if he gets, you know, if he gets 160, 150 games at Fenway,

he's easily going to have his best offensive season and he's on path for that right now. Him and him and Sonny great from the Cardinals. Like he's forgetting that they got Sunny this offseason as well. Yeah, and they... Sonny's been great too. That was the whole thing. They didn't have to pay a ton of prospect capital.

When I watched Game 2, the Royals about to turn a double play, to head into the bottom of the ninth tied. And Lofton just, he throws it away and you're just like, what? Like, that's, when times are bad, that's what happens. That the Royals go on to lose that game and lose the series and you're just like that it's a pretty normal double play ball

that's Christian Walker running like what are we doing? And the Royals have had a lot of that vibe this year and Vinnie P has a hamate that he's going to be out for those five to seven weeks or whatever it is that it's

my Royals hope may be officially gone. It's hard to do it in the A.O. right now but yeah, I get what you're saying. Both these teams are struggling or having struggles in their own respective regards. I mean, the first game alone, insane pitching lines from the starters.

Both exit before the first inning even is done. Am I, I can't tell. Again, I've watched him pitch sometimes. This guy's got great stuff. Other times he looks like this. It's what a roller coaster ride. He is. But this was, we've talked about it almost all year.

I mean, Houston's offense is legit and can be really legit. but when you have to score 10 runs just to win a game, it becomes difficult. Your Don, a couple big homers going Dead Central as well, and then Bryce Matthews are a couple really nice swings for Houston. But again, it's like, all right, great. I've been on teams like this. So you can bang the ball around,

but it just never seems like enough. It eventually becomes daunting for you, except for your Don, nothing's daunting for him. Nothing's daunting for him. Mike Burroughs, who I was like, Watch out in that trade. Might be the best guy available. He's giving up the most home runs.

So we'll see what happens there while Brandon Lough, Jake Mangum, continue to contribute for Pittsburgh. Yeah, I'll say this for Houston as I'm starting to get a little tougher on teams. This was a funny week standings-wise because there's a lot of teams that are in the, like, 33 and 38. And so those teams looked a lot better than the teams that are like 29 and 42. I know that's literally just mental gymnastics with numbers in my brain. But Houston, that AL West, dude, we gave the Mariners a lot of snaps like, oh, dude, Seattle's back, bruh. And it's like, wait, they're 500.

The athletics are still around 500. The West can have a fun finish of this season, but it's been sloppy, sloppy. Three games out for Houston of the wild card. Right? That's something. What's gone right for them outside of Yordaun? Well, Christian Walker's been great. Christian Walker's been good.

Yeah. Good counting. Their offense has been fine. It's just or even better than fine. Just the pitching has been very, very tough for them. Tell me what happened with the twins and the cards. Twins win the series. Big comeback game for them in the first game, Cody Clemens,

who really is. He's gotten like a ton of the big hits for the twins. It's a three-run homer. And then, you know, take the lead after Royce and my guy, Brooks Lee. Mm-hmm. Goes your idea. Cody Clemens, he's got some sneaky pop, dude. The lineup has worked for the most part.

Okay. And it's different guys. And it's, it is like, I'm not going to call it rag tag. Because Byron Buxton is still leading the charge there. But, you know, a different guy every night. it feels good. It's fun to watch. The offense has been fun to watch, but the pitching staff has not been good lately. Pre-Lip and Todge Bradley, not great starts here. They haven't really been pitching that well after starting off really well. Is first baseman Royce Lewis a thing? Yeah, it has to be. They're really close to, they called one outfield they're up Fedcoe. We'll see how he does. He's been raking. But Royce is great since he's came back. And I mean, the twins,

really, really needed that. Because if he can, if he turns into, I mean, look, he's had his ups and down in his career. When he's going, when he's hot like this, you just, he's, you put him in the middle of the order and let him go. I got more cardinal stuff coming. I think they got one off of him, and we were doing talking yanks, and this is me doing a little too much pat on the back. And I think Jim was like, yeah, you know, you got to be a little

more scrappier against, I was like, dude, I don't, I don't know what you can do against this guy, because if he's going to put it over the dish at 103, and then he's going to bang that slider when he wants to. You're weaponless as a hitter. These are the Phillies, Treve. I know their offensive output hasn't been elite this year, but a lot of those guys are pretty elite all-time baseball players. This guy's on something else right now.

No, I mean, he, I don't know what you do with it, to be honest with you, because the fastball comes out of his hand and then kind of darts all over the zone. Like, I feel like sometimes he gets his fingers around, the ball and he'll cut it a little bit. Sometimes he's got him on the inside part of the ball and thing just runs up above the zone. I don't know if he's commanding all that or if he's just

chucking it. But you watch these pitches, like, yeah, some of these pitches of Schwerber are just diabolical. Like right there, what are you supposed to do with that pitch? You're trying to time it up. It comes out of the hand. One's going this way. The other one, I don't know, man. But he is on a historical run. Last eight starts a point one. That's the lowest in any eight-star span since earned runs became official in 1913. So he's special, man.

It's a lot of fun to watch. And I don't know. He keeps throwing harder, Jake. Yeah. Every star. Like when does that stop? I don't know. And Pat Murphy's calling him Forrest Gump and he's playing in forrest Gump.

And like, yeah, there's, if you want to chop up these final eight starts anyways, it's like Chris Sale kind of did this once when he broke out in 2018. Otherwise, nobody has one year after his MLB debut. So maybe, maybe he's just figured out, just figured out the league a little bit, Treve. I had this theory because the next day the Phillies come and just like crush the ball. And I had this theory in my head of the, oh, like, I got to go look up like after Mizorowski starts.

How does the pitcher do the next day? Because he probably looks like, it looks like meatballs, right? It's not the case. Yeah, it's the brewer. First bit of research I did. I was like, no, never mind. Turns out. Because Kyle Harrison backed him up a few times and just been nasty too.

And it's, yeah. It was a tough break for Shane drone that day as the Phillies put up some big numbers. Brewers almost scrap back and win that game. These are the, okay, Chris Rose is going to show up for your birthday. Are the Brewers better than last year's Brewers?

Yeah, because, I think so. A deeper starting pitching. I think the, I think the offense is probably the same, which, you know, that's always going to be the concern

with the brewers, even though they have guys that can do it. But I think that's just in everybody's because of what's happened in the past. But I think they are a better pitching team this year than last year. I mean, you get, Miserowski and Harrison back to back is nightmare stuff for hitters. It really is Harrison.

His highlight, like, guys are missing. It's not Snellian, but just, I was going to say, how much guys are missing his pitches? You're just like, what? Like, that's... His fastball actually looks like a... ice ball the way it shoots up. Like the slider,

line drive double play there's nice. But yeah, he's been, if he was on another team, we'd probably talk about him more, but you need to spend time talking about Mizorowski. That NL. Sy Young we're talking about. Mizorowski and Sanchez have now flipped. And yeah, we'll see if anyone else can join their party. But at this point, my God, freak.

Shout up Blake Perkins, who's six for seven in his career with the homer five runs driven against sanchise and he's been he's been raking chourio's been raking the brewers are on a heater you know all the all like the reports of like oh they can go get scuba like i hope they do something really cool at the deadline they just brought up uh what's what's the kid's name they just brought up cooper pratt got the extension yeah yeah yeah let's see let's see what other party tricks the brewers have this year. Is that what they're going to do?

Like we don't need to trade. We got guys at home? I don't know. I mean, the thing we were told about Cooper Pratt was he's like, yeah, he should stick at shortstop. I don't know what that means offensively, but I don't know. We're not a prospect pod. They feel like they have a little more ammo this year and what does that mean for Milwaukee?

Phillies. Philly still have some scary numbers. three and nine against the division leaders this year. A couple guys off, like, do we need to do a tray turn or standing O again? I don't know. I don't know. But the Phillies, they need a little bit of juice. Or maybe they just ran into Jacob Mizorowski throwing 104.

The Mets and Braves played three over the weekend. Your guy Bichette showed up. I'm sorry Jolly didn't show up for you. I don't know what that is. is a little grand slam, six ribbies, good stakes. Do we have a good Mets split? Does it? Braves have gone 24 and 15.

The Mets are 22 and 18 since the end of April. Okay. Yeah. Hey, the Mets have been a winning baseball team since the end of April, which by the end of April, we didn't know if we were going to talk a lot more Mets baseball. Bichette, looking like this is obviously, a big deal for them.

He hits a couple bombs. One goes, Oppo, it's a beautiful swing. That's what I texted jolly. It's my favorite right-handed swing and all the baseball. It's like really one of the only pretty right-hand-old swings.

I don't have it as a pretty swing. I have it as violent. These views of here, the side views are as pretty as it gets. Okay. Come on, man. I mean, I'm not saying it's an ugly, so I have it as one of the more like

You got to love that. Some of the young guys Ewing with a good game. And then I think on the brave side, it's like more pitching injuries.

Like Spencer Strider, like, I mean, right elbow. inflammation. The Vila was way down. That scary. J.R. Richie, my guy, my Hackysack guy, did come in and fill the void, but that's not great news for them. Luzer Kunia, now you're losing Strider. But Martim Perez, who I've, I think I've mentioned on the show on the show before what he's been doing. And he's kind of been on like the bus up and down this year, but doing a great job for... Hold on.

What am I saying right now? What are you saying right now? Because they, like, DFA'd him and, yeah. Yeah, he's been up and down all year for them, but... I don't know what to make of the Mets and if they can firmly get back into everything. I want to believe, Jake.

Scoobel, I have the Braves as my favorite scuba team so far just with where their pitching's at. So I still won't entertain it. It would be fun if they did. Shamaniah back in the rotation. He's pitched well like in a bulk relief type of role. Now they put him back in the rotation. He had a pretty decent start. Their team's bullpen numbers are kind of the nicest on the team, which that kind of felt like the question mark coming into the season.

He had it like literally in the glove. It was because, you know, that game was already a little out of hand, but it was cool seeing Michael Harris too being like, damn, I had that.

that's really, again, trying to get back in the swing of things. I know the Padre's record is, they're still over 500, but the offense has been a big question mark for them. They kind of get it going here. Merrill's starting to hit a little bit.

I didn't know he was from Maryland, makes his, you know, come back to Maryland. That's great. Machado loves hitting in Camden Yard. So, like, that looks better. You mentioned Tatis kind of getting it going. It's there. The power numbers haven't been, but he looks good.

Walker Bueller has been kind of a nice addition to the San Diego Padre staff. He has got a great start here in this game. Griffin Canning's still not looking good for them. I know he missed a lot of time and missed spring training, so he's still trying to work it up. don't know how long of a leash that he's got, but it'd be nice if he, if he started to figure it out. But I don't know. It's a nice, nice, nice series win for the Padres. Yeah, Orioles. They're always been playing good. And at home, first losing homestand of the year. I didn't have that in my

Orioles bag, a little three and four homestand. They start a big West Coast road trip. Seattle, Dodgers, Anaheim. If you're going to go, go Baltimore, as they've been in their that pile of teams in the middle of the American League all year. And yeah, San Diego, it's kind of like have they righted the ship? And are we going to, Machado and Fernando and the guys we were looking for are going to start going? Because you are right, when you look around standing-wise, outside of the powers of this baseball season, I'd say in the AL, the Yanks and Rays have been pretty top tier throughout.

You take out the 40-win teams, which there's five of them. Like, the next tier might start with San Diego, depending if you like them or not. It's like San Diego or St. Louis or Philly, that all those teams are pretty flawed. That, again, it's been the San Diego conundrum this year, that it, they've been in a good spot while it's felt off throughout the year. That that can either continue and feel terrible or, It can be right, but negative run differential, and those offensive stats are tough.

Yeah, they've, you know, they've held leads in games because of their bullpens. The one-run games, you know, and early in the season, there was like a lot of comeback victories where they would, you know, wouldn't start out well, then they would get going.

So they have that. What do you got on the, the whole Gunner Henderson getting hit? And, you know, they missed him a few times and going at him again. I don't love the whole situation for being honest. Yeah, I mean, I normally revert to you a little bit. You're my hitter.

You stood in that box and you talk about never liking that. And yeah, I don't know, we're hitting summer, right? Like, Stammon, this is his first ejection. And there was some early reports from a guy I work with that was like, Stammon kind of wanted to be ejected. Like they're trying to send some messages in San Diego. Like, we, it's time to go. if you throw at a guy and you miss them that's all you get that's my take on the whole thing

like continuously going up and in is i don't think is uh what it should be like you get one shot if that's what you if you if you have to do it you get one shot i don't hate that can we make that a rule at all like if if the ump thinks you go back to back you're out i don't know i think so Why not, right? The Nationals have a better record than the Mariners. Like, what are we doing here? And I don't know, the product on the field, I know it's three games and it's not how we should measure it,

but it, you know, you talk about litmus test series, and I don't think this is for either of these teams. teams. I think they're looking at it as a weird little interleager. But I don't know. How far apart are these two teams? And the Mariners are supposed to be one of the powers of baseball. And the Nats were supposed to be one of the worst teams. I think the way we just look at teams, at least the way, like I always try to stack up rosters that I always start restarting pitching. And you think, okay, well, the Mariners have that in spades. But I think the six-man rotation is kind of wearing their bullpen thin,

because obviously they're a guy down with that. And like Luis Castillo hasn't looked good. So I wonder how long they keep it up. I know that they've already had some talks with him. He was in a voice some frustration when him and Bryce were doing the piggyback thing. But I think eventually they do go back to a five-man rotation. I think that makes them better. But offensively, I mean, there's no comparing these teams right now. James Wood obviously headlining it with C.J. Abrams,

but like up and down that lineup, they're getting, you know, Luis Garcia Jr. has some big swings here. You know, they, Dale and I think it was a. Bobblehead Night 2 getting knocks. They are going to score runs. There is no doubt about it. They're also going to have times where they gave up a ton of runs. But offensively, they completely clear what the Mariners are putting out there right now.

So I think they're just getting it done two different ways. I think over a season, I'm still probably taking the Mariners to finish with a better record. But I mean, what they're doing offensively, like Dylan Cruz, he's starting to play a little better. So that's like another guy who, you know, continues to lengthen their lineup. He had an incredible play in this series. I forget who hit it. Great catch. He had a great, he had a great catch.

But he also had a, he was on first base. There was like a single up the middle. And he scored from first base. Oh, yes, yes, yes. Yes. Yes. So you're talking about, you're talking about this lineup that can, score in a bunch of different ways. They have the power.

They have the speed. And again, like, it just seems like the lineup continues to lengthen as the season goes on. We're seeing the guys step up and do it against, if they can get a guy like Dylan Cruz kind of going. And, you know, we know the draft pedigree

with him. That's, why wouldn't they make a big trade? Yeah. Or, you know, if I was a national I would national fans, you guys know your team better than me. I would love, if I was a nationals fan, God, how sweet would it be to see the headline be, C.J. Abrams extended. James Wood extended. Like, I guess that's a better point.

You know, like, let's set up shop, man. Because you look at the lineup, everyone's Keybert Ruiz on the baseball reference page is listed as their most, their oldest player by, starters. He's 27. Like, these baby Nats, man, they cook. Bryce Miller, dominant. Good for you, Bryce.

Against a really good lineup. He's, I think he has my favorite stuff of the Mariners starting pitchers. Okay. I know Eno. Bravely to say, because you're an Emerson Hancock guy. Well, I just think he's got the funk. Eno's such a big Logan Gilbert guy.

I always questioned myself, but when Bryce Miller's right, I just don't know what you do. And that was talking Mariners. Trev, final couple of National League series, Debex Reds, D-Backs trying to get back above water as they've started scuffling. The Reds have continued to scuffle. Cubs and Giants don't really deserve to have anyone talk about them,

although the Cubs are starting to get back on path, and then a little Marlins, Pittsburgh. So start running through whatever you want to run through. Shout out her all. Obromo, always one of the most underrated guys in the league. Terry Francona walks the batter in front of him in the first game, ends up probably being the right play because Perdomo hits that ball to Dun. Dun just kind of zooted, tough play for him, like a sinking line drive right at you.

But then Prudomo comes up big in game three. You mentioned Obay Marte when he's doing. That would be great for the Reds if he's, you know, rounding him. to form or can keep this up because they need something. This Marlins team is a lot of fun, like just a good product between up the middle, like we talk about. Stowers is back now. Roberto, Joe Mack behind the dish. Like, it's a, Marlins are a fun team. Yeah, they're another team that they can kind of beat you in different ways.

And when the lineup is clicking the, way it has been like you can say oh that's a pretty long lineup you know oh in case and doing he doing his thing um all the way down to our you know our guys in the middle there so when sandy when sandy pitches the way he does or the way he did uh this game and then you got max mire kind of sneaky being one of the better pitchers in the national league this year they can beat anyone and they have um the only team to be otani miserowski and skeins this year the miami marlins which is which is awesome man

talk about Liam Hicks and what he's been able to do this year I don't know they are fun team and I feel like you know with these teams the nationals with the Marlins just because we haven't seen it

in recent history you just wonder like okay like is this actually for real should we really be buying into it and if I had to choose between the Marlins and the national for like who I think is real. I think I'm choosing the Marlins.

You? I've got a little natitude right now. I don't know. And I'm just, I'm worried about our, like we, we're trying to talk ourselves into the Mets. What if they continue to play decent? Like we could be looking at a last place,

Marlins, although at one point they won six in a row. So I guess they've won seven out of eight. Sandy, highest Velo of the year. You think teams care about this? That could become an interesting topic. Yeah, obviously he's going to get traded, which sucks. That's what I'm saying. Tyler Phillips is becoming a starter.

Now's a thing down with the Marlins. So that helps my case out a little bit. He's been good. Two outfielders. Brian Reynolds with a casual three home run robberies. It's a little wall. You still got to catch it. Oh, yeah.

And Jacob Marcy, my Pison with those eyes. That catch he made in center field. Holy smokes. I didn't know Homeboy got down like that. Oh, yeah. And this was, I mean, this is possibly, I mean, it's definitely a basis clearing double, possibly inside the park grand slam if he doesn't catch that ball.

Dude, that's, uh, yeah, I don't want to, I don't want to be old on your birthday, but that's, that's a young man's dive. You hit, you hit a certain age and you don't dive like that anymore. You don't get up. You don't get up afterwards. That's a one-way ticket.

Get him, coach. I'm going with a, just kind of, I feel like a talking baseball legend. Javier Assad of the Chicago Cubs. Just, you know, when you need somebody in a pinch, like look at kind of who the Cubs are trotting out there, twirling the pill right now. Hasn't been pretty.

Javier Assad has been great as of late. Last two starts, both against the San Francisco Giants. So you can say, okay, but the Giants actually haven't hitting the ball. Yeah. I know they have that negative connotation on them now, but they've been hitting the ball. Two straight starts is usually not good for a starting pitcher, but Javier Assad does not care about that. 12 and a third scoreless innings against the San Francisco Giants four hits. just absolutely dominant against them.

And again, they really needed someone to step up in that rotation. And he's been the guy. You know, he's been in the bullpen. He's been just kind of jack of all trades for them, up and down, all those types of things. He's given up 17 earned runs on the year, Jake. 15 of them have come in two games. So the rest of his other eight appearances, he's got a 0.57. He's been nasty if you take out the bad games.

But I wanted to give a shout up because, again, if you're a Cubs fan, you're fighting through this season, you need somebody to step up in times like that. Javier Assad has been that guy for the Cubs. Yeah, I was watching, what was it? It was the Jameson Tayaoen got hurt game. He came in for him. And they were like, yeah, you know, a guy like that, I guess Cubs fans let me know, but he's been thrown into every position with the Cubs. And he puts it on the line. And that's kind of all you want from that kind of dude.

Also kind of throws his sinker, 63% to righties. So that's got to be a nice feeling. Like, this is what's coming at you, boys. Deal with this. Fun guy to watch. Fun guy to watch. I'm going opposite end of the spectrum a little bit. And I thought this was my award.

I forgot I'm doing it as standout. But it's going to James Wood. Bobbo, if you could get his baseball savant page up, I know, Treve, you like the blood red. It's the red wedding. It's as bloody as it can get with James Wood. Six foot six. By the way, still 23 years old.

OPS by year, 2024, 781. Last year, 825. This year, 972. He just hit his 20th homer of the year. He can do everything. He's got 13 steals if you care about that. 281, 414 on base with the 558 slug. And Bob, if you could get a final zoom on that spray chart,

it's maybe my favorite part of James Wood. Pitch it where you want, pal. I don't care. I'm a massive human being. I'm going to put the barrel on it, and the ball is going to go. He has been at the heart with C.J. Abrams, who deserves his snaps, and we give him his snaps. I just, your team has a prospect right now you're talking about who's 23 years old. This is James Wood's third season, and he's one of the best players in baseball.

And if these Nats got a little more respect, I think James Wood deserves a little more respect for basically anchoring the best offense in baseball this year. he's got a beautiful swing I mean the bat stays in the zone for so long and obviously he swings the bat hard and he's big and he's strong but just the path alone to me is what's special about him because he can go

if he gets beat like he can still just drive the ball like a right-handed hitter to left field he's he's special man he's um he just keeps he's getting better and better you talked about the on base percentage this year okay yeah man like that's that's what I'm saying You're starting to get into that. Dudes that get on base and it starts with a four,

that's usually silly territory. And he's got all of the other stats that go with it. He's currently leading the National League or MLB in runs and walks and OPS Plus. Like he's that guy. He's that guy. So, first standout. You guys know. It could have been so many guys.

But if you remember Blaise Jordan, another reason I wanted to give him this award. Bobby, you got those videos up at him? When he was 10 years old, he was hitting 400 foot bombs. When he was 13 years old, he was, this is in the old Texas Stadium. Yeah, wow.

Good Homer Stadium. Hammering balls. Good Homer Stadium. Look at this kid, dude. So these videos were like viral. And then, you know, a lot of times what I'll tell Teddy is, hey, you don't want to be the best 10 year old. You don't want to be the best 13 year old. Like, you know, you want to continue to get better.

A blaze says, f that, dude. Look at this guy. Just freaking doing it. So I started to think, like, everybody has that guy. Because, like, under some of this, I was looking at some stuff online with him. And there's a lot of comments under the Blaze Jordan videos. Like, man, I saw this kid in high school. He ruined my job.

dreams like all this stuff and I started thinking like who are the guys that I played with they were like dream ruiners I think I might have been oh one of them like you know I hear that from people like you know you you think you're good at baseball and you see someone that is actually good at baseball like for me it was Delman Young who was just like better than everybody and I'm actually happy that my guy like that made it to the big leagues because then if you think about the guy that was so good that you couldn't stand it and he didn't even make it to the big leagues and you're like oh shit Do you have someone like that you played with?

So the Connecticut legend, and I'm so happy this gets to get shout out, Charles Chancio was the kid that showed up at the Little League tournaments. And my God, he was different. It was playing with an adult. And yeah, he played like four years of college ball. But yeah, yeah, yeah. My brother's probably one. You know Marshface?

He was an incredible youth player, huge hit bombs. and I had to play with football against in my entire life probably helped me out in the long run if we're being honest. But I wanted to throw that out there to the comment section. Like name your, the guy that you played against. It was like,

holy crap. Like, this ain't going to work for me. Yeah. Because Blaze Jordan was that guy for a lot of people. And now, like the Cardinals need a new freaking toy, man. Like they need a new toy.

They're about to play the Royals, and I'm just like, yeah, give me gnats all day, because I don't think the Royals can score with them. There's another team that Trev, maybe you had it first, and I'll give you credit. I'm giving out the M&M Boys Award. You know, Eminem, it's something as a young Yankee fan. You get introduced to very early, Mantle Maris, and you're like, whoa, like, who are these guys? And it's just an all-time American candy.

Eminem's, I mean, that's forever. They're kind of, I don't want to say they're undefeated, but for what they do, Eminem's got it covered. And then you get peanut Eminem's, where a go-to snack for a while. I'm giving some love to the Chicago White Sox. And Trev, I got to laugh, you know, hanging out with my guy, John Boy this weekend, as the Yankees are about to play the White Sox. And he goes, wait, they got back-to-back Montgomery's in the lineup?

And I was like, yeah. Colson Montgomery is a dog and has been killing it and needs to get mentioned more with the young shortstops in this league, as he has 17 homers in an 801 OPS as a 24-year-old shortstop. They called up. Braden Montgomery talked about him. last episode. You know, he came from the Red Sox, by the way.

Good start early on in his career. That, hey, you're seeing two Montgomery's. That's kind of funny. And you're just like, wow, how about that? So I'm pretty excited to, tune into these white. Garrett Cole taking on these baby white socks. I want to see what that looks like. Are they going to piss on four balls and put them in the stands? Or is Cole going to get old man nasty on them and say like, why don't you boys watch this one? I don't know what's going to happen.

I'm excited to find out because I know I can't really lump Sam Antonacci into the M&M boys. But God, he got his hands inside on an up-and-in heater that I was like, okay. That plays, man. All of these guys play at the. this level. It's a lot of fun to watch. I'm excited to watch it up close and personal this weekend and maybe my Yankees catching the L. This series reminds me of our spring training

2021 when we saw the Dodgers and the socks who share a facility down there. Yes. I couldn't believe the different attitudes. It's actually when I chose the White Sox to win the freaking world series. They're a completely different team, obviously. But yes, that was the last time you're really excited about the socks and they did something that I didn't think could happen. Those Chicago Bulls inspired jerseys, Koso Montgomery made it look cool. I didn't like him at all. I didn't like him at all, but he puts it on and the way he moves around the park, like, I'm in.
