Like very, I mean, I'm still some that are playing, but most are our coaches.

That's kind of cool going from player to like. 80s size more is the twins' first base coach. Hot. Look at those stats. He's like legit hot. He's ridiculous. I walk up next to him. And no,

It might be a little slightly different episode. I feel like the American League might be a little more topical because, you know, I was shocked. Shout out to our social team. Kyle, like Judge slash Otani, not winning MVP in the AL this year is kind of a conversation. It might just be a Bobby Witt conversation. And the American League was already wide open,

and now it feels a little more wide open. So A.L. might be a little different. NL's got a little bit of sauce to it between the Braves continuing their dominance, the Phillies and Padres ships passing the night. Why don't we just do the damn thing? Because it's Friday. And it's now the fourth time I've mentioned it.

Shelfies Phillies. Congrats on baby number three to Shelfy. and the Phillies get three wins. They sweep the Padres. Brando, not so much, man. Bryce Harper with the big homer in that first game. Christopher Sanchez, scoreless streak, ends in the seventh inning after 50.2 of them. What a freak show.

And then they get her done. As Zach Wheeler goes no hit into the sixth, that Phillies formula, stars on offense, dominant pitching. It came through in this series. Asking questions, whether it's Fernando's power, whether it's Machado's batting average. They've got some issues. The Diamondbacks and the Dodgers, the top two teams out West now, split a four-game set. The D-backs took the bread games.

Game one in game four, E-R-R-A. Having an impressive season so far. That ERA's a 2-24. And then that final game, they get it done. because in the middle game, the problem was Shohei Otani pitch. He has a 0-7-4 ERA, also got three hits, and the Dodgers jumped out big in that second game to split four against their division rivals. The Braves take two out of three from Toronto.

Matt Olson, we had Lou Gehrig's Day this week. And by the way, Matt Olson, the ninth longest consecutive game streak all time, while raking his homers, the difference in, game one. Maricio DuBall goes big fly in that second game to help them get the win. Blue Jays looking down Chris Sale and a sweep, they knock them around a little bit. They salvage the set. The A's and the Cubbies. Oh my God, Gage jumped all over him in that first game to keep the losing streak alive. And then it's an extras the next day that the A's win the set despite Ian Hap's thousandth career hit. The Cubby's about to get swept.

Welcome to the PCA festival. The highs and the lows, it ends with a high. The Cubs come back, a dramatic fourth-run ninth inning to salvage the set and hopefully end the losing streak, but who knows, people. The Giants and the Brewers played for, and man, the Brewers dropped it on them. Those first two games, 16 to 2, 8 to 3. It felt like two very different franchises, which is what they've been. But the Giants, Logan Webb and the boys shut them out in game three. And then Casey Schmidt sets the tone as the Giants end up splitting four.

Jung-Hul Li, I see ya. Against the crew, the Marlins and the Nationals. The Marlins sweep the Nats. How do you like that? I can watch these two teams play all day. snaps a five-game losing streak to create a three-game winning streak. Sandy with a strong outing. Joe Mack home runs. Why not? And Max Meyer, will you hear more from him later? I think you might because he pitched really well. The Royals and the Reds played. Where were you? Uh, the Royals,

take two out of three. How do you like that? A.L. Central, why don't you join the party this season? Royals snapped a six-game loser. Don't know if I love that. Reds won on Blake Dunn walk off in that middle game, but Nick Lofton's two-run Homer off of Tony Santion helps them get the series. And then your final National League series, the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals played three. Cardinals starting to get a little shaky Rangers win the first two game. Jacob de Grombe as the Rangers win five straight after winning the second game.

Jimmy Crooks' RBI single? Excuse me? Baking powder? Cardinal salvage set is Alex Burleson drives in three. Jordan Walker gets three hits. St. Louis gets the win. Salvages the set. Andre Palante. That's what happened in the National League.

Trev has the standings ready. He's not clicking around for him right now. I just don't understand the joke of Jimmy Crooks and baking powder. Oh, I'm just not familiar with Jimmy Crooks' game. What does that mean? That's a different way to say. say a beg your pardon. That's new to me.

sitting at 33 and 29 the nationals they can hit they're under 500 now 31 and 32 the Marlins I need to have it we need to have a Sandy Alcantara discussion sure can't wait to bring that up to you they're 29 and 34 and the Mets 27 and 35. I feel like they're, they want to get going,

but they're sputtering. It's like a car that's got a good engine, but bad tires, maybe. That's the analogy that I had. Okay. In the Central, the Milwaukee Brew Crew, 37 and 23.

Four and a half games up on the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are second in the division people. Look out. 34 and 29 for them. The Cardinals, 32 and 28. The Cubs, 33 and 30. And then Cincinnati, 31 and 30. Out west, the Dodgers starting to have a commanding lead.

Split the series, but there are six and a half games up on the Diamondbacks, 40 and 23. The Diamondbacks 33 and 29. The Padres is a half game behind that at 32 and 29. And then the Giants, Logan Webb, not staying at the Fister Hotel. He wanted a good night's sleep. 25 and 38, my goodness, and the Rockies, 24 and 39. Those are the standings of the National League. And I think it's the most important because I was doing a dance with the Phillies that was like, hey, you know, you've done the hard part. You got back to 500. but you can't like sputter again and they haven't. They kept rolling, I want to get the stat right because I think, are they 24 and 10 under Don Mattingly now,

which is so funny that we keep track of things like that because I think the other thing I would tell you is that their rotation ERA under Don Mattingly is 279. So Don Mattingly not known for his pitching coach abilities, but it's kind of what's been the significant change in Philadelphia and what helped them dominate the Padres. It's actually been crazy. If you look at the Phillies and kind of the turnaround of that rotation under Don,

and you're like, okay, well, they got those bats, right? They got those bats. They are not hidden besides Schwabre, Harper, and then you can put Brandon Marsh in there as well. Other than that, we're talking nobody with an OPS Plus, Jake, over 76. It's crazy. Like we're talking. I think Bryson Stott's a pretty good baseball player.

No, Justin Crawford starting to struggle as a rookie. You can understand that, but they counted on him to be the guy in center field. T. Turner, my guy, one of my favorite players in the league. Not getting it done. J.T. Riumuto, not getting it done. Alec, boom, play up.

He's a free agent after this year, right? I believe so. OPS Plus right now is negative. 0.7, B.WR. 65 OPS Plus. us. Now what you want. So they're getting the, they're winning,

and they're winning with starting pitching, and, you know, the bullpen, Duran with a freaking incredible savior, striking up three guys on 14 pitches in this series.

So, like, I almost, I said this about the Padres early in the season. It's like, you expect the offense to wake up a little bit. Like,

the Padres are winning games because of their bullpen early on. They're getting some timely hitting, but overall, the offense has been brutal, especially the guys that you're supposed to count on. And I was like, oh, they're going to come to life.

Well, they really haven't. And like maybe the same thing is here with the Phillies, which makes me think, what do you think old big B.D. Dombrowski is going to do at the deadline. He's going to do something stupid. He's going to do something stupid. You know it. Don't say stupid.

You're going to do something fun. Fun. Fine. That's a better word. Fun. You know, like the... In two or three years, you might be like, oh, that was stupid. The hottest, the hottest name.

in the street trades these days is I there's an odd amount of teams looking for a right-handed power hitter which it's like what happened to the game I doesn't exist like call Trevor ploof if you want that you know the hottest name is esot paredes oh yeah Christian Walker isog praetis and Casey Schmidt those like the only guys yeah voice Lewis that you know it's kind of funny and I know my Yankees are talking ESOC the Red Sox are talking ESOC which everyone's like what the hell are you guys doing let's save that for the Yale um But yeah, no, I mean, the Phillies, it's what makes them, we know if they need to press the button.

They were so close to getting Bichette. Hey, maybe call up the Mets. Why don't you send Bo over? We'll clean this whole thing up. I don't know if that's going to happen. But you're absolutely right, Trev. And I just think, I think the highlight that everyone should know. I think everyone, if you're a baseball person,

you know that Christopher Sanchez is the lead for the NL. Siong, 50, the longest ever lefty, scoreless streak, like that's insane. Dude, I didn't even realize that Wheeler was like this. Eight starts a 231 ERA. He's no hitting the, like with thoracic outlet syndrome, which was another popular topic on my internet yesterday, it's the worst pitcher injury that we still,

we play more scared than that than Tommy John. Tommy John, you know, there's a longer timeline necessarily connected to it. but thoracic outlet, and I think they did something different with Wheeler. It said it was one of the newer surgeries, I believe. But like he looks like Zach Wheeler. So now if you want to play the Phillies, Wheeler and Sanchez, you almost have no shot. And that's like Lazzardo, Nola's thrown a new curveball this start,

which, okay, that that's, if you're getting that kind of starting pitching effort every day, which kind of leads to the Padres problems too, that yes, the hitting's been horrific. dude, you look at that rotation right now. If we didn't respect the Padres as a franchise a little more, I think we'd be talking about that rotation very differently. Agreed. I agreed. I thought I had something else to say.

Oh, Sanchez. Just incredible. I turned the game on just as he gave the hit to Merrill, which is crazy. Like literally the pitch. Yeah, tough for me. But I got to say something. I just gave Brandon Marsh credit for what he's doing to play.

We got to make a better thing. throw here. I think we can hose this guy out at the plate. We're going to show it here. Let's see. We're potentially building up ball in the hole. Brandon Marsh. I think Ty France running two or three hopper. Treve, you know that's one of my, it's one of my biggest bugaboos and I just don't know if it's blind or I just think it's we don't practice that stuff more. But 90s 2000 baseball, like a throw home used to be a throw home. And like,

they never practice throws home. No, I think guys. This is a crazy thing, man, is infielders are out there every single day doing the side work. Then they go take these ground balls. And now in today's day and age, I mean, they are smoking ground balls to these guys before the game.

Something that if I was planning about, hey, guys, chill out. Yeah. Like, I'm just trying to get my hands warm here. And now they are doing like, they are freaking rocketing balls at these infills. every single day and they're throwing and outfielders know what they do and they get a tennis racket

and a tennis ball and they just go and they run their little routes but like all right that's cool but like let's make some freaking throws they just don't do it if if they do and then i rarely see it and i'm like you know when i go on these trips i'm down the field like i like spend my time during batting practice before the game watching these teams work i just love it i fucking love being on the field I'm a loser. I bring my glove. I don't care what anyone says. They don't do it, man.

I never see out for those making throws. And I just, again, maybe we add this to our binder when we take over the twins. But like, I don't know, man. Like, maybe my, the most fun thing to do in a baseball practice, like, hey, let's line the boys up in left field and throw home. Put a bucket there. You hit the bucket, you win. Like, we've got the most competitive people on the planet. Have some fun with it.

I'm kind of like There's a tiny little guy There's a world where I'm technically as like direct boss, so I don't think I can, I think I can be doing that. Are you my boss? I don't think so. I think there was a sketchy kind of eight months there where they wanted that. And I think this isn't going to work.

This just is not going to work. Let's chew through the rest of the National League. Where I think, Trev, we can kind of hit these series a little high and tight because we have our four-game split rule, which that's where the Dodgers and D. The debacks are going. A little spoiler for you. I'm actually going to talk some show Hey, O'Tani later in this show.

Okay, I got three things on this series. First of all, keep talking about Erod and what he's doing out there. My goodness. I'm talking about him later. Oh, you are? Okay, great. Great news for you. That takes away one of the things.

You're also talking about Otani. That takes away my second thing. Third thing was hell of a comeback in the last game for the debacks. This team's so fun, dude. I feel like they are like the cardiac kids. I don't know. And it's been over like three or four seasons now. just seeing them like they fight.

And, you know, they'll put up, they'll give up crazy innings, but then they'll answer back. We always say that. But here, see Corbyn Carroll with the knock. Then you got Perdom, or the Homer, then you got Perdomo with the knock. And then freaking, Ketel Marte. Yeah, man. About as cool as it gets on the walkoff Homer.

That's his second. That's your guy. Yeah. His second of the year. And I don't think. Come on. Show, show that swing. He didn't have a walkoff homer coming into the season.

And the Padre is always blind to me at least. But yeah, I mean, they're great. They, on the other hand, not like the Phillies, have seven people, seven regulars with a OPS plus over 100. And we always talk about young guys coming on the scene, like Waldschmidt and Tommy Troy, and now two top 100 prospects in the outfield on a given day for them.

So, yeah, the recipes change there. Erod, who I will be talking about in a little bit. You know, did you have, where did you have him coming in the season? And like, they have a bullpen recipe back there, which how often do we talk about them? Sheenis is coming back, right? I hope so, because that guy's a freak show. And then Corbyn Burns at some point, like, those would be big ads.

I think he just had a step back. What else was I going to say about them? Oh, before everyone gets crazy on Max Muncie, like, that was just a weird situation. Yeah. And I think he explained it really well after the game. If he just didn't know, him and Ildemar Vargas got in the collision. First of all, pitcher nowhere to be seen covering the base. Like, get your ass over there.

Second of all, if you look, like, Ildomarro's running on that foul side of the line. And so Max Muncie breaks towards the inside of the line. And then they just kind of, it happens so fast they hit each other. This was not malicious by Muncie whatsoever or Vargas. Like it was just this crazy play. And Jolly put it out there. We've talked about this before. Like double bag it at first.

Let's go, man. What are we doing? I'm all in. I think our whole company might be consensus all in at this point. because what are we doing? Like, it's put another bag there. I know there's a couple weird quirks that might come with it, but I don't know if the Dodgers lost Max Muncie for the season

or if the snakes lost Zildomaravar. Is it worth it? I'd rather look at two first base bags. Maybe that's old head. Yeah, going to talk some show hey, because he's, you know, just on track for the best season ever coming up as he doesn't allow an earned run again, Frederick. Let's go to Atlanta.

The Braves hosted the Blue Jays. 17, 2 and 1 in series this year, Coach Trev, continuing to have the best record in baseball. More Matt Olson appreciation, because we do stumble into it every now and then. But when I saw it the ninth longest streak all time, 844 consecutive games on Lou Gehrig's day, with an OPS in the Nines,

with a game-winning Homer in that game. game. And then it's a little more, you know, you're not expecting Du Bonn to provide the widow maker in game two, but he does it. They, yeah, snaps for the Blue Jays for surviving sale. They're getting some runners on the bases. I don't know. What else did you see? Two quality starts by Atlanta pitchers in the first two games. They get the victories because, yeah, they have some dogs in that freaking lineup. I still remember when I told about else of these probably got more pop and let me fix you and he's like I'm just going to hit 500 homers in my careers shut up please please don't talk to me mr. ploof we had a great dinner one time um last game

I was actually watching this last night there's three to two um jays were up and I was like barlin's warming up big part of the order for the braids is coming up like I can't wait to watch this this is sick and then rinaldo lopez gave up a bunch of runs and barlin still came in because I think he was just like already hot, like whatever. And it kind of ruined my viewing experience. So I texted Peter that after the game. I was watching the post game with him. And is it Nick Green?

Ooh. I'd have to double check. I don't know. I think it is. I think it is. So, I mean, look, Braves are awesome. Toronto kind of getting back in the swing of things. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's an ALE's conversation coming. I think them and the Orioles have the same exact record. their bullpen does get it done in that final game. Ten hits, ten plus hits against Chris Sale, which that's happened.

It's the first time since 2021. So, yeah, they're, like them and the Orioles are showing signs. It's just getting over that hump, getting that one hot streak. And right now Atlanta is not the place to look for that one hot streak. Ronald Cooney Jr. staring at balls. I think you're talking about a little bit of that coming up later. I can't wait. I think the last big topic in the National League,

the Chicago Cubbies who have just been an absolute tailspin, shocking. Literally since the day we did the power rankings, basically, their season has fallen apart that they're now staring at the 500 season record. And Trev on that final game, because I, well, actually, I don't know, because this series had a lot of everything from Gage Jump,

jumping on the scene, if you will. A guy throwing 99, that could change your athletics outlook for the year. And then that just amazing Cubs comeback and hearing Riggly roar on a Thursday night, not much better in this sport that where do you start? I mean, look, I think the A's definitely caught the Cubs at the right time. And maybe, I don't know, I keep thinking they're going to come out of this thing. they're going to be a better baseball club, but that is yet to be seen.

I thought the A's did a great job. Yes, when the starting pitching gauge looked incredible and that does change things for me and my outlook on the A's. I was watching last night as they mounted the comeback. I believe that a three-run lead going into the night

that was six to three and they end up coughing it up. A couple of balls I thought Lawrence Butler might get to, but didn't get two. Maybe my perception was wrong. wrong on the TV. But yeah, I mean, that's a tough one for the A's. You go looking for a sweep there and just cannot get the job done. That was a tough play right there. Right. That ball gets fielded and we're not talking about this. We're talking about the Cubbies in a tailspin that I'll be very...

That ball very hard, though. That's a weird spin on it. Sure. In between hopper right there, yeah. But it's, hey, you know, Cubs fan. That's not right there by Danesby was great. Huge at bat by Danesby. He was currently on the interstate. And yeah, I think you're just, in baseball, you're always looking for the moment that Cubs fans are very much hoping that in two weeks they look back at this game and they say, oh, we've gone 10 and 3. Biggest series of the Cubs season coming up, because after a win like that, you got to keep the momentum roll. Like, if you get punched in the gut, they're playing the Giants, you got to, you have to keep it going now.

Okay, dude, we used to be schedule snobs better on this show. I think I'm going to get back. into it. Cubs have the Giants, Rocks, Giants. It's time to go, Cubs. Go, Cubs, go. Oh, gosh. On that, I just keep going back to Lawrence Butler on that, even on the PCA one right there, Burns on second and third tie ball game. Like, where are you playing? I was shot, like, the way that ball comes off PCA's bat, you're like, oh, that's going to end up in a glove and then to see it not. But like you're saying, I think that's more positioning, which would be the coaches and not. And, you know, he's just a big boy.

I don't think he runs particularly well. He's a big boy. He hasn't graded out well defensively, but I think where he starts that play, I don't think he's going to get there. Rob, I know you've been rolling through all these. Can you get Haps Homer that I think he's in like the seventh inning of that game? Because obviously where Ian Hap stands,

It's be available for your guys when they need you. And I don't know. Maybe this wasn't the case for them. So like that's that, I feel like that's an issue because he went, because he went to a hitting guy. And ever since he did that, he hit the ball a lot better.

If you're talking realistic case, you're probably looking at two months, two months plus without Aaron Judge, a Yankees team that has been scuffling a little bit, and an AL that in a way the Yankees were a favorite.

We'll talk about the raise in a second, but it changes the whole dynamic of the American League. Yeah, I went back and looked on the rib guy here. Everyone knows that. Yes. When I cracked it, hit by pitch, 2016, I was done for four weeks. So there is a world where he gets the re-imaging done earlier

or at that four-week mark. It's really like with a rib, it has a feel, big dog. That's it. There's nothing else. You're not in a cast. You're not doing anything. It's like, is the pain gone, essentially? So I lean towards six weeks to back in action.

I don't think it'll take longer than that. And with the caveat of it could be even sooner. So, you know, a tough blow for the Yankees, but I think he'll be okay, especially come down the stretch, all that stuff, like he'll be there. But definitely if you're talking, like, which I do like the conversation of like MVP, ALMEP, he's not going to win the MVP this year.

If the Yanks win tonight and the race lose, who they're having their worst stretch of the season, the Yanks would be back in first place. So like Tampa, who I guess has been the other favorite in the American League up into the, this point. They're now having their first bad time of the season. Well, two of these teams, it's not weird to lump together because they're AL East and they're both birds, the Orioles and the Jays. And then like you said, the Texas Rangers, where they are in the standings, Texas Rangers had the exact same record with the athletics. On any given night, they would be in the playoff picture. They've been a tantalizing team for years. So have the Orioles. The Blue Jays did it last year that one of these teams is going to happen in a big way.

I still don't know which one. I mean, the Orioles are the team that's playing the best out of them right now. They are. Boss, you know, obviously big trade for them. He's looked better as of late. So you're looking at the starting pitching and them getting better. That helps a lot. But really it's like they did get healthy.

So like their bottom of their lineup has been performing much better. And I think that's a big part of the success here. Gunner Henderson still got to go a little bit. But the lineup overall has just been so much better as of late. And then obviously their record has shown that. And man, like it's we're at a very funny part of the season where there's a lot of teams that are doing like, Adley Rushman trade rumors. Guess what?

Uri Perez on the IL before that, like he was just okay.

It's kind of a mess down there in Miami. And I was thinking like, is he going to be their all-star representative? but they have a couple guys on offense so it'll probably go before him. There's a ton of dominant starters in the NL right now. So it doesn't look good for Max Meyer, but he's had an all-star caliber start to the season. Give me, I don't know why I'm daydreaming of Red Sox trades.

Give me like Augustine Ramirez for Brian Bayo. I'd have to look at some actual analysis there, but I don't know. It feels like Bayo's, Bayo needs a change of scenery. Red Sox need a hitter. Augustine is in AAA right now. Bayo for Bayes. Yeah, right?

There's been some nights off when he's pitched this year, which I think is important because you don't,

Since that day, so May 15th until now, that's a span of 18 games, the numbers, offensively.

and it's been a hot topic we've had the 2019 ball something went awry there because everybody was hidden homers love those baseballs didn't get to play with them would have loved it though the problem is is we still have no we have no quality control of these balls necessarily.

They come out different in batches. Someone has to be because they're hands sewn, which is crazy to me still. I don't understand that aspect of it. They're coming out different sizes. As we saw, we saw Ronald de Kunya Jr. sitting on the bench looking at two baseballs being like,

hey, these are two different sizes. We can't have that. We cannot have that. It's taken a turn for even worse than that visual for majorly base. That's a bad visual right there. That's not great. It's really bad. It's funny.

It's funny. It's gotten worse because now there's a formal complaint by my guy, the nightmare, Bailey Ober, who's blaming his IL stint of a mild right flexor strain from his last start in Boston. I was in the booth for this start. It was a rainy day. So it's obviously going to be slick as it was. He said it was the baseballs themselves were the slickest he's ever encountered

and he's been pitching for six years. He goes, they were completely white, barely rubbed up and it looks like they came straight out of the packaging. Now, if you know baseballs, pearls, beautiful, love them. Beautiful. There's nothing better than a pearl. But they are slings.

slick. They come out. You got to rub them up, which again, this is another problem I have with the baseballs. There's one company. You get the mud. And just think about that sentence. I just said, there's one company that gives us mud to rub up on our baseballs. Okay. Now, that job falls to a clubhouse guy or maybe a bullpen catcher or maybe just someone who's available before the game. because you got to rub out. I believe it's nine dozen is what they start with each game. That's 108 baseballs that you got to rub up with mud. And then the umpires come in and they look at like a colored charler.

Oh, this looks good while they look at like two of the baseballs. It's a it's a barbaric. Archaic, I think, is the right word that I was looking for right there. Barbaric, not so much. System that we just need to figure out. The Asian leagues, especially the, the MPB. I'm not sure about Korea, actually. They have Takify baseballs. They come out of the rapper, ready to go. Their white as can be, but you don't have to rub them up. You don't have to

rely on someone to do that. And then an umpire's discretion, all this stuff. Like, it's crazy we don't have that. And there's a, there's a situation. It truly is. If you ever saw it, you go down in the tunnel and see two guys sitting on the stool, pissed off at life because they got to rub up these baseballs. It's a crazy thing that we do. A crazy thing that we do. A crazy thing that we do. We got to figure it. Anyway, back to Bailey Ober. He's filing a formal complaint. He's never been on the IL in the big leagues with an arm injury. He had

Tommy John earlier in his career, but that is fine. That tendon is fine. So he files a complaint with Major League Baseball. Derek Shelton filed one on his behalf to Major League Baseball. So now they're going to go and investigate and determine all this stuff. I don't know what he's seeking. Like damages. You know, you're missing starts.

It's going to miss a month of starts here. And that means something to a guy going through arbitration. Sonny Gray's quotes, on the conditions brutal brutal brutal absolutely brutal it is what it is it was brutal for everyone ober when he came in talking about multiple relievers that he talked to he said everyone that came in after me the relievers they all said the same thing when i was in the clubhouse they all came in and said man those balls sucked i talked to sonny and danny cologne right after the game who both pitched for the socks and they both said the same thing he talked to the umpire says we got to do

some of these balls and uh will little who was the plate umpire basically was like just keep throwing them out if you don't like him so he kept throwing them out same thing over over and over. They were just too slick. All this to say, we got to figure something out. Like that we can't be doing this with baseballs. 2026 shouldn't be hand sewn. They should all weigh the same. They should all be the same circumference and they should all be pre-tacified. It's crazy that they're not and we need to figure it out. And it's also crazy we still use different baseballs in the lower minor leagues. So let's just get one baseball. One baseball. Please do that. Don't forget the balls. Major League Baseball.

I mean, it's crazy that that's kind of been a recurring segment on this show. And it's wild and it doesn't make sense. And like, how can that not be viewed as such an easy problem to fix? That I don't know. I mean, you know, we've got friends with MLB at this point that maybe we need to be the spark on this one. Because, yeah, it's crazy. It doesn't make sense. Why?

And teams have to want that. like they don't like they're wasting millions of dollars when people are on the aisle this is a multi-million dollar problem probably like in the nine figure range each year maybe even more i don't even know crazy also last thing on balls okay i've said i don't know if i says on this show but we need smaller balls for our youth players why are all the balls the same size for kids that who have hands that can't hold a baseball. Right.

I've kind of given my spiel on him before. I think he's a Hall of Famer. I think our vision of pitchers is going to change with how we view innings and everything.

And a reminder, like, I don't... What's going to be the next part for Jacob de Grom? I mean, I'll knock on wood, but he threw 174 innings last year. He's got 64.2 this year. He's getting paid the next two seasons, if he wants it, a mutual option. And we've seen some, you know,

It's not a Velo problem. Like if Jacob deGrom wants to keep playing, he'll find some spots that let's see where it lands. I was just laughing. Something that used to matter a lot more in this game was the win. And Jacob de Grom gets his 100th win. I also, and this tweaks it a little bit, another pitcher was going for his 100th career win on Monday night.

It was Erod. On the snakes, which it's been a wild journey for the debacks from injured to not performing to now he's performing, a 2-24 ERA in his 72.1 innings pitch. It's made him one of the best pitchers in baseball this year, which has changed the Diamondbacks outlook. And it was just a reminder of how we've evolved as a sport, where we check out things like war

and how the win used to be everything. He doesn't get the win. They come back after Taylor Clark comes in and he gets a win.
