Hello and welcome to talking baseball.
It's hot in the streets.
It's July.
Pitchers are yelling at their hitters.
Two Texas teams sprinting the opposite way.
Let's talk some ball.
I got no chance.
Hello and welcome to talking baseball.
Presented to you by Seeky.
People.
It's July.
July 4th maybe go to a game.
I might be going.
No real July 4 plans might try to sneak my way to see my Yanks
versus the Reds in the
big city.

Thank you to Seek, our presenting sponsor.
And I don't want to get the people too riled up,
but we've got a fun new partner.
coming up later in the episode.
Speaking of partners, Trevor Plouffe,
happy July 1st to you.
How are you?
July 1st, tough day for me.
The juxtaposition of the first week of July is extremely,
well, it's tough for me because today
is the anniversary of my good friend, Tyler Skag's death.
Aye, sorry.
So not a great day, but I also love 4th of July.
So it's like I get this like low today
just to ride that high at the end of the week.
So I don't know how it goes.
I'm sure Tyler looking down on us is like,
probably just like, go have a good time.
Yeah.
And he's probably excited about our sponsor.
Man.
That's how I think about it now.
Well, I'm sorry for that a little bit.
It's okay.
It's okay.
Our thoughts with the Skaggs family.
Are they still doing,
they're doing some Skaggs Foundation stuff?
Do we need to?
Of course.
Okay.
I'm probably going to go see his wife, Carly,
tonight and then they have an all-star game this weekend, which is awesome. They bring
like high school seniors out and do a high school all-star game, which I usually coach,
can't do it this weekend. But we're good. Don't worry about it. Okay. I'm more of a celebration
of a life guy than a morning guy. Okay. Well, we will celebrate some ball this episode.
I get in a completely different note.
You mentioned we were at a cricket thing this weekend,
the World Cup cricket finale,
and we had like a booth set up.
We were promoting our warehouse games and the ball and play.
So it's me that we got ice guys, Justin Penick.
And they were like, yeah, you know,
you guys are going to do some like trivia and giveaways and stuff,
and we're going to have some warehouse games highlights.
I'm like, yeah, sure.
You know, I'll knock it out of the park.
Why not?
I didn't know we were presenting it on the main stage.
So there was a ton of people getting ready for the World Cup finale.
Like the second most watched thing to the soccer World Cup is a cricket World Cup final.
So think about this.
A bunch of India fans wanting to watch the biggest game of their year.
And an hour before the game, it's me.
We Got Ice and Penaic with Warehouse Game highlights.
And I'm sitting there thinking like, hey, if this was a Yankees World Series game,
The last thing I would want to see on stage is whatever the opposite baseball version of that is.
But the people were very nice.
We had a good time.
But you know what?
I think it was one of the first times that the We Got Ice guys saw me like a little nervous.
Like I'm just, the only time I'll get nervous is if I think I'm going to ruin someone else's time.
And I was like, there's a chance I'm going to ruin these people's times.
There's a chance that was like the worst part of their day.
Yes.
And they won.
So they won.
So that was huge.
Yeah, we get, well, we get an assist there.
Like we're part of a good memory now.
And it just turns out people are people are people
because there was a highlight of Joe's getting hit in the face
with a line drive and the crowd lost it.
So, you know, at the end of the day, we are basic people.
And at the end of the day, Trev, July 1,
All-Star game in a couple weeks.
Gunner just announced he's in the derby.
We're going to be at the derby,
and we're doing our All-Star Game event in Dallas.
So if you're down there or you're going,
make sure you get tickets.
I think the VIP's sold out.
Whoops.
But come on through.
It's going to be a good time if you're going to be down in Dallas.
Let's just talk some ball at this point.
American League Mondays.
And, man, I've never seen a diamond in the flesh.
We'll never be royals.
That's what the guards are saying.
They lost three out of four to the Royals.
They'd been scuffling a little bit.
They had a really tough schedule,
but they take down their division rivals.
Speaking of taking down, I hate to start here.
Our guy sticks.
Tristan McKenzie knocked around and sent down.
Baseball comes at you fast, man.
But on the other side of our friends,
Vinny Pasquintino,
all he's been doing is driving in runs,
like the last seven games or something.
Cole Riggins, the only game that the Cardians won.
They took him down.
And I think you're going to hear about Seth Lugo this episode,
because he might be starting that all-star game we just talked about.
Kansas City Royals, back at it.
A rematch of last year's playoff series,
the Texas Rangers and the Baltimore Orioles.
Your stat about never getting swept in the regular season previously.
Orioles, they take down the.
Rangers, three out of four. John Gray gets knocked around, but he says, well, yeah, I would have
knocked around some of those pitches. Hey, Orioles fans in Heston Kerstad, I'm over it. He's got one of
those dumb power swings that it's like, wait, did he pop that up? No, it's a home run. He's in the
mix. And watch out Cedric Mullins with a couple good games, along with, oh, Albert Suarez is back
shutting people out. Sorry. We almost got away from that.
Fun note on that last game, Wyatt Langford. How's your cycle for the kid?
That's fun. And some guy named Derek Hill hit two homers. Rangers fans, tell us more about him.
I'm not familiar with his game, but I want to be. Texas? Are we floundering?
See you in a couple weeks.
Twins, take two out of three from the Seattle Mariners who hosted last year's
All-Star game. That first game goes to extras.
We have the whole Mitch Hanager waved home and Carlos Santana with not the throw you're looking for.
Logan Gilbert's 21 scoreless inningsree comes to an end.
But Seattle wins that game because here come the twins, babe.
Luis Castillo, Joe Ryan, it kind of looks like what me and Trev look like in our outfits right now.
Luis Castillo's getting a B's.
Don't love that for him.
How about the Minnesota Twins?
Nice little road trip.
Trev, six and three out on the West Coast.
We can build on that.
Joe Ryan hot.
The New York Yankees headed to the Great North
to face off with the Toronto Blue Jays.
They split four games,
and every game was a blowout in either direction.
Rodon gets knocked around.
George Springer just went from one of the worst players in the game
to one of the hottest games in here.
You might hear about him in Enfuego.
Stroman yells at the boys slash glaber and the offense goes nuts.
Thank you, Juan Soto.
Go look what Aaron judged it in June.
And then we get another Blue Jailout and then the Yanks finish it with one of their own.
So I don't know, not the prettiest baseball.
If you're looking for pretty baseball, it's always Detroit and the Angels.
The Angels going for the four game sweep.
They don't get it.
Detroit holds them off in that final game.
Hey, two first names, first MLB start, Davis Daniel.
Okay, young fella, eight inning zero earn runs.
A historic first start for a young ball player.
I don't know.
Luis Renhifo on a lot of teams' trade list.
He had a couple big games in this series.
Logan O'Hoppy's highlight reel is starting to become gross.
The throw he made from his knees.
Justin Henry Malloy, we love a hyphen, and we love a homer in that final game.
Keep hitting, and we'll learn your name.
San Diego Padres, they take two out of three from the Boston Red Sox.
I've got Padres fans tagging me because I said, hey, get five games above 500.
And they did in that second game, although they dropped back today as Waldron gets outpitched by Josh Winkowski.
Padres won the first two in a blow.
lowout, Machado, Merrill, Kyle Higashioca, breaking Padres catcher power hitting records.
We love that for our king.
The Nationals in race, two of America's teams.
They played three games.
The race win another series.
Watch out people.
Zach Eflin with a big start.
Taj Bradley has entered the chat with his 11Ks over 5.2.
Jose Siri does not give a fuck.
He hit two homers, though, in that first game.
Esauk Parades, all he does is mash.
In the series, everyone was talking about,
Rocky's White Sox.
14 innings on Getaway Day?
That's tough, Pop!
And we're the people that like baseball.
Drew Thorpe, great start.
Paul DeYoung, where will he be playing in a couple weeks?
And you know when I can get Michael Tolia's two stolen bases in the mix, I will.
That's just tough.
That's just tough.
That's what happened in the American League.
God, I need those standings.
It's a big a.
Hey, Brett and Doyle had some nice catches in that series, bro.
God, he can go get it.
Leave my rocks alone.
You're taking them, huh?
No.
Okay.
Okay.
I want Ryan McMahon.
Yeah, every team.
I want to be Ryan McMahon.
Every team does.
Do you want the standings?
Need it.
Need it.
What did you just do, the American League?
You did.
Come on.
It's Monday.
Come on.
We're going to start out east.
Yeah, finally.
That's where I want to go because those birds are chirping out there.
The Orioles tied with the Yankees at the top of the ALE East.
They're 53 and 31 while New York, actually they're head percentage-wise,
but in the standings tied.
54 and 32 for the Yanks.
The Red Sox.
Okay.
Padres are hot.
It's all right, people.
44 and 39, the raised, 42 and 42.
The A at least was bad for a while.
Now it's looking good.
I like that for them.
Toronto, 38 and 45 at the bottom of that division.
In the central Cleveland, still a firm hold, Jake, on the division.
Six games above the twins, 52 and 30, excuse me.
The twins, 47 and 37, 10 games over five.
The Royals, 47 and 39, one game behind the twins and the Tigers, 38 and 46, white
Sox 24 and 62.
Quick check, that is the worst
record in all of baseball.
That's insane what's happening in Chicago.
And then out west, some would say
it's the best coast.
Seattle, still maintaining their division lead.
Three and a half games over Houston.
That looks like it's shrinking
and going to be gone soon.
No offense. We're both rocking our Seattle
All-Star year. Seattle's 47 and 39,
three and a half games above Houston,
who's now one game over.
500 at 42 and 41. The Rangers,
what's happening people?
38 and 46, only a game and a half above
those angels who got on a little heater there.
People are chirping me. 36 and 47
and the A's 30 and 56 in the wild card.
Right now, Baltimore and New York are tied
for the division lead and the top wild card spot.
Minnesota with a one-game lead
on the second wild-card spot
and Kansas City is sitting
in the third wild-card spot
with Boston a game and a half behind them
Houston three and a half out
Tampa four games out
and then everybody else kind of stinks
and those are the standings in the American League
Thank you Trevor
Are you shocked at the Angels? Is that what you got shot?
Yeah man I you know Texas Rangers
it feels like a week ago they were in the same boat
as Houston like all right guys
almost at the halfway point,
kick into gear and you're still going to be okay.
Houston is kicked into gear,
and I don't know,
when I look at those standings,
I currently have them catching Seattle.
Like, sorry Mariners fans,
but I've seen it too many times.
You guys saw it happen last year.
And Seattle hasn't won the division since 2001.
The Texas Rangers, when you see their one loss away
from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim,
that's pretty,
that's pretty eye-opening.
I mean, the Angels just went on
like a six-game winning streak.
They're on a little bit of a heater,
lost that last game, but yes, it is.
It's not a great place to be
for the defending champs.
I'll say that.
I just, I forgot on another screen I opened.
I was really excited to see Chris Rose interview
Stephen Kwan on Chris Rose rotation,
just because I know how.
He's very happy.
know how happy that makes him.
Yes.
And I forgot it was playing.
Let's stay with Orioles and Rangers really quick because, again, I'm kind of more so
blown away by the Rangers.
And the John Gray quote, I liked it a lot because I don't think it was shots fired.
I think he was just trying to say, like, hey, man, I didn't have my goods today.
I put pitches out there that should have got hit.
But I don't know.
I guess I wasn't even prepped for this
because I'm just doing a head tilt
I think we expected the Texas Rangers
to join the party and I
I don't know
Obviously they dealt with a lot of injuries
And some underperformances from some guys
The offense really hasn't clicked
Now they're without Corey Seeger
I don't know
Do we have an update on him?
He got hit in the wrist
And again if we're starting to put things in the Texas bucket here
the x-rays came back negative for seger he'll be re-evaluated on sunday
um i guess so i don't know we don't have any updates on that just yet
um this is also interesting for them because josh jung was supposed to come back
now he's getting re-evaluated probably won't be back until after the all-star break um
i mean that's your that's your left side of the infield although joss smith has been really
good uh for them one of their better hitters all year you know those are the guys you
on. White Langford's finally getting hot for them. He was struggling all year.
Carter's been struggling. It's, you know, it's, they needed a lot of things to go right.
And now you're getting some more of those things going wrong. So you needed everyone back.
You needed everybody back on the same page playing winning baseball. Then you have a couple guys
like Seeger getting hurt, Josh Jung not being able to come back. You know, it's nice seeing
Scher do his thing in his first start back. But is it, is it,
going to be too little too late for them.
It kind of seems that way.
They'd have to really, really get on a heater here
to turn their fortunes around.
I just try to do the quick math in my head.
I think they're 16 and 29
going back to May 8th.
So it's July 1st, almost two months of baseball.
They've been one of the worst teams.
They're about to play San Diego,
who it looks like San Diego's clicking.
I mean, the Tampa Bay Rays,
who look like a different version of themselves.
And they finished, they got a Halo series
who were actually playing their best ball.
And we just talked about how close they are in the ceiling.
Finishing with Houston before the All-Star break.
You know, it's funny, we did this last year with Seattle.
Remember, they were hosting the All-Star game,
and they'd been struggling, and we were kind of doing, like,
wait, is Seattle going to sell?
And are they out of it this year?
Seattle finished strong heading into the All-Star break
that it was enough that we were like, okay,
Like the vibes in Seattle were
We're good during the All-Star break
I, man, they got to find something quick
Otherwise it's, I think the whole tone
Of hosting the All-Star game
When you're the defending World Series champs
To we might be selling guys
I don't know, that's a, that's a gnarly feeling for a fan base
I guess I'm trying to think like
Yeah, do a lot of,
Are a lot of Rangers fans going to be going to the All-Star game?
In Seattle, you know, we were at the Homer and Derby.
There's a ton of Seattle fans there rooting for Julio.
We don't go to the game, so I guess I don't really know, but that makes sense.
I got some more Rangers bad numbers, if you want them, just to really pile on.
Is that okay?
Yeah.
You went back a little further than this, but since June 3rd, Jake, so about a calendar month.
Before yesterday's game, they had lost 16 of 24.
So 8 and 16, only the A's and the Rockies were worse in that span.
3.4 runs per game in that stretch.
That was the fourth worst.
It was the Tigers, the A's, and the Marlins.
So, yeah, this is a team that I believe led the AL in runs per game last year.
So a stark contrast of what they were doing, basically.
Yeah.
And the record shows it.
Yeah, the Seattle Marrars.
last year were 38 and 42, and then they finished 7 and 2 to get one game above 500
before last year's All-Star game.
So vibes were good.
Vives were good.
So, yeah, I'm interested to see with Texas, and I guess on the other side of it,
the Baltimore Orioles, like he talked about, Corbyn Burns, seven innings, one-er-and-run
barely gets mentioned because that's almost the expected.
this has always been an Albert Suarez pod.
And yeah, dude, the Kirstad, it's not the,
like I talk about Otani and how just silly the ball comes off his bat
and it's just easy power.
There's a couple other easy powers.
Kirstad, I literally clicked on the link and I was like,
oh, Heston Kirstad, Homer, and I was like, it's not that swing, right?
looked like he missed hit it and it's just out.
That again, this guy, this guy ended up turning into a depth prospect for them.
And he might be the guy who is replacing Anthony Santander next year
because he just set the Orioles record for the most homers in the month of June
and he's going to be a free agent this year.
And he is a switch hitting corner outfielder with consistent power.
And he is going to get paid.
they have an embarrassment of riches there.
They really do.
And, you know, everyone talks about
the guys they have in AAA
and what are they going to do with the deadline
with those guys.
You typically have, when you have a log jam,
you have a team like this,
you look to make improvements at the big league level.
We'll see, man.
Cade Povich, Max, Freed Light.
Is that what you call before the show?
Yeah, they've got a little copy and paste to them.
God.
And the Orioles, they just played 29 games in 30 days.
and I know BPD was looking at this for the Yankees.
The Yankees just had one of their heavy game schedules
that they have a lot of off days the rest of the way.
And I don't know, that's something that's pretty important to the team
in resetting your bullpen and just, I don't know,
having a stable mentality going through the season.
I believe you're only allowed to play 17 in a row nowadays.
Might even be 13 days in a row,
although 17 makes more sense than the numbers you just gave.
of me. You have to have an off day.
I think as far as like properly scheduled,
but things can get messed up by rainouts and mutual off days
get taken away.
Okay. I don't know if any specific circumstance
happened to the Orioles, but
that could have been 14 in a row than 17 in a row
or something. More Rangers rain.
Sometimes you need rain to wake up a little bit,
to get the plants horizon, if you will.
There were 17 games over 500 at this point.
in 2020.
Yeah, like they crushed last year
and we were almost ignorant to it
because it was new
and we're like Bruce Bojee hot.
I don't think we said that.
I think we said that.
I think that was salient head.
He's not my type.
How about, okay, it kind of is mine.
A team that got out to a hot start this season
that I think we were skeptical
in a similar tone to the Texas range.
The Kansas City Royals
Got out of the gate really strong.
The pitching has been there throughout the top of the lineup.
They just went through a really rigorous part of their schedule.
They played, I think it was five first place teams in a row or something like that.
Between Cleveland, Seattle, New York, the Dodgers.
I guess San Diego wasn't.
But a lot of playoff teams that they were limping a little bit.
they win a Miami series who had been
Miami had been beating some teams so good on them
and then three out of four against Cleveland
which the division's at six games
Cleveland hasn't really been showing signs of slowing down
I guess the bigger thing was looking at the American League wild card
and being like hey every year baseball happens
and teams have good first halves bad second halves or vice versa
that if you're looking at teams and pedigrees
The Kansas City Royals kind of stood out as like,
there could be some fools gold here with the Red Sox lurking,
with the Astros looking, with the Ray's lurking.
This is a big series for them,
and dude, they have been incredible at home.
They have the most wins of any home team this year.
That, hey, like, there's an identity trait.
And the other thing is you need players who play good baseball,
and whether it's Lugo, Vinny, Witt,
like, they got dudes all over the field.
Yeah, they're going to be one of the most interesting watches in the second half.
Definitely at the deadline, see what they end up doing.
We're going to talk a little bit more about the starting pitching later in the show,
so stop talking about it right now.
Oh, okay.
I mean, and this is a series, I'm hesitant to say it.
They could have swept it.
Did you see the home run call?
Make home run call.
Yeah.
And I'm going to mess up his name,
even though I've said it a million times because I've done it with Chris Rose,
John Kensey.
Noelle.
You're struggling with John Kensey?
I shouldn't.
It's just what I see the letters all jumbled up.
I'm like, what is that name?
But I'm better.
I'm John Kency.
That was interesting because he pulls the homer down the line.
It's a big homer in the game.
Calls it fair.
Immediately, Royal's manager, I always mess his name, Quattrero.
Quattraro.
I think it's a little soft at the end, yeah.
forgive me people
immediately he's like
challenge
it so they get together
they bring it to New York
it's clearly a foul ball
like they show the
they show the angle looking at the foul pole
the ball disappears
and then you're like oh wait but did it
did it hit the back end of the
foul pole because it definitely gets directed
down quickly
but then they show it and there's like this little
black metal bean that holds the fencing
up and it hits that.
It's like clear as day, bro.
Yeah.
It's like not even close and they still rule it a home run.
Like what are we doing here?
Yeah.
So that was a tough one for the Royals again.
Like, you know, all these games, all these games matter,
especially when you're going up against a team that's in front of you.
And, you know, that was a big swing in the game.
So that was, that's messed up.
But yeah, they look good.
They're going to be interesting because, you know,
I still feel like they have so many guys
overperforming, but maybe I just don't know what the
freak I'm talking about.
As far as the Guardians go, they just
I just had this up.
And Rose has been alluding to this,
and we've seen it all year long.
Like the starting pitching has not been there
for the Guardians.
They get Gavin Williams back.
You mentioned the option sticks down there.
There were 24th in the big leagues in ERA in June
at a 497.
Oh, here it is.
I mean, this is like clear his day.
I count that fair ball, bro.
That's insane.
It's insane that kept that.
That's insane.
And I believe it was like, I think Las Diaz was the one to call it.
But it's like he's not in the booth.
But still, it's like, class, come on.
Right.
Why are you involved in all these bad calls?
Come on.
Come on.
So the Guardians, I mean, like, you rake, you play good defense, you do all these things.
Your bullpen's incredible.
you got to figure out starting pitching
or else like eventually that's it's got to catch up to you right
or am I just crazy like because they do have like
seven or eight dudes in that pen that are
that have pitched high leverage rolls for them
so like just do they just have enough of a bullpen
or like just give us five innings please
and keep us in the game we'll figure it out
or do they have to go get a starter like it's
they're do they have the best record in baseball right now
It's tough, so I need to correct myself on that.
The Phillies do have more wins at home than Kansas City.
Kansas City has the most wins at home in the AL.
The Guardians are 52 and 30.
They do not have the best record in baseball.
No.
But like they're one of.
Best in the AAL.
Best winning percentage in the American League.
It's literally the only team ahead of them is the Philly.
So again, the fact Cleveland's sitting here,
and that's been a fun game that got played around the office this week
because it was, you know,
the Yankees who have been going through a really tough two weeks,
it was, hey, if you had told everyone around the office on March 25th,
hey, you know, the Yankees are going to have a record of 54 and 32 come July 1st,
every Yankee fan would have signed up for that coming off of last season
where they missed the playoffs.
But sometimes baseball just feels funny when your team's in a funk are going through it.
that yeah, and I guess the only thing I want to put out there too
with kind of the talking baseball mantra of you know your team better than us
slash nobody knows baseball.
Like we would have told, if you told us before the season that the Guardians were going to have this record,
we would have told you what?
They have a top two starting pitching staff.
And instead our guy sticks get sent down like they're looking for answers there.
We knew Cookies Carrasco would be twirling it for them.
but that's all we know.
If I told you that Ben lively was going to have the highest war
for a starting pitcher on the Guardians,
you would have said,
okay,
that's probably not going to be good for them,
but he does.
And Tanner Bybee's been a little bit better
over the last couple starts.
He had a good month.
He's actually had it,
yeah,
his numbers look good overall in the year now.
Ben,
my guy,
fingerprints all over all these rosters.
But like it's,
I don't want to put that out there
because they're doing it.
They're winning.
it sustainable, I don't know. Chris Rose seems to think it's not. I always mentioned that.
Here's what all... He is also hypochondriac, so...
Yeah. They have the White Sox coming up, which has been a lot of teams' best medicine.
And then just like a funky finish. They're finishing with San Francisco, Detroit, and Tampa
that if you're Cleveland, I've talked about this, this pre-all-Star break stretch
where you can kind of change the tone of your first half
and the start of your second half,
don't limp in Cleveland.
Like, I don't want to be in Dallas, Texas, at our event,
and, you know, their division lead is down to three,
or two and a half or something like that,
because that changes your whole second half.
Good on Kansas City.
I think we're both talking about them a little bit more coming up
so we can keep it grooving and shaken.
Do you have any twin stuff?
I'd rather not, but I know you'd like to.
Jorge Polanco back for the Mariners.
He had a nice hit against them.
I know.
I'm hesitant to kind of like give them a ton of praise,
but the offense has been really good.
I mean, Correa is like him going has been, I think, the biggest,
well, Buxton is probably the biggest reason why they're, you know,
they had this six and three road trip.
He's been really hot.
And he's like been kind of like down the bottom of the lineup like hitting seventh usually.
Is this his first hot stretch this year?
Like hot?
I think he was okay.
This is his hottest stretch for sure.
Okay.
And I think it's, I don't know when I said this, but I had a conversation with them about this.
After they played Colorado home, I was there.
And he just was like, man, I just got to.
I just can't think so much.
Which is awesome.
It's a great place to be in as a hitter if you can go up there and just kind of.
go numb. He's also just so
talented that he could do that, but he's, him at the
bottom of the lineup and him doing what he's doing
has been really good.
And like Santana's been hot as
of late. Royce
is actually been the one that's been struggling over
this road trip. I don't know, they look
good, man. Like Pablo Lopez
had a good start. Joe Ryan's
he's, I don't know who their all-star is
going to be. I'm thinking it might be
Joe Ryan.
They have some bullpen guys, but they typically
don't make the team. So we'll see. I don't know.
They're playing good ball, though.
Correa is getting close, man.
Correa could be it, yeah.
Yeah, I know there's a lot of moving parts,
and sometimes we hate talking about the business of baseball,
but I know the twins figuring out their TV contract.
Obviously, that's a thing that's close to you a little bit,
is I don't know.
Like, looking at it, I'm not as dialed in on your twins as you are,
but, like, okay, Correa has shown me he can still be that guy.
I love that.
Royce Lewis, I'm on the bus.
Buxton.
So my brain just jumps to like,
does this team need to add a lefty bat?
I mean, I know Kepler has been around league average.
Larnack has been solid.
Like, I guess that's just where my brain jumps to,
but it's also, it doesn't feel like a need,
but it feels like a World Series move,
but that's kind of not what the twins are known for.
Sorry.
They've been talking about, you know, bringing in a bat, but like Jose Miranda has been good.
So he's like somewhat at first base essentially.
But Jose Miranda has kind of forced himself into the lineup.
He's been really good.
I mean, if I'm the twins, like they're, like they don't really have like a huge need right now.
I would, I would still like try to find a starter.
And a bat is always good.
But they don't really have a glaring.
They sneaky have a lineup right now, Treff.
Yeah, they do.
I mean, they can put a...
It's getting long, yeah.
They can put it up going and Miranda going.
That's really helped out a lot.
Okay, I'm interested in that.
I'm interested in that.
Go get heen dog.
Mariners fans, I guess let me know.
Are you guys as nervous about where Houston is in the standings
as the general fans are?
Because they are coming.
They lost seven or guess eight of the last 11 games.
now. They've only scored
how many runs did they score in that last game?
So they scored 36 runs
in the last 11 games. That's not
what you need right there. But that's what we
always talk about with Seattle. It's
more of the same, man.
Seattle has
the Baltimore Orioles coming up.
Castillo struggled as of late as well.
Before Sunday start,
he was 1 in 3 with a 675
over his last four starts.
Hey, everything I said about Cleveland, like Seattle, don't.
Let's not look back at June 18th when it was 44 and 31.
And then we look at the All-Star standings and it's ye.
I think the only other, well, Padres Boston, it's a deep A.L today.
I'll do some Yankees, Blue Jays real quick.
I mentioned it on the way through.
Stroman lets out some frustration.
general frustration at Glaber,
like the play that he actually gets mad at,
Glaber was kind of fine on.
It was a pretty routine.
It was going to be a tight double play.
Volpe, you know, it was a high chopper.
Volpe gets it to Glaber.
Glaber plays fairly nonchalant,
but it was a solid turn.
Like it was a B plus, A minus turn.
Like Stackcast, I didn't even know they measured this,
but they measured it as like an above average
transfer. I thought it was smooth, but Vladdy beats it out. Strowman lets it out on the mound
and then in the dugout a little bit. And with the Yankees who have been losing a ton of ball games
recently, kind of one of those fighter flight moments. Next inning, Soto Homer's. The
Yankees end up putting 16 on the board that game. And then...
Glaber homers after that, right? Glaber homers in that game, which, yeah, that's a, you know, a nice
moment between him and Judge, and him and Stroman, kind of.
And then Garrett Cole comes out in the final game, and he has a nice start while the
offense goes again.
Dude, Judge's OPS has been sitting in 1.1 for a while.
He's been 1.3ing since the end of April.
That, yeah, the Yankees got their first taste of decent baseball in a little bit with
Glaber hitting and Verdugo got a couple.
And then the Blue Jays, I don't know.
They split this.
George Springer, who had been atrocious.
He's going nuts right now.
Vladdy looks great.
Yeah.
There might have been a joke on talking Yanks about him auditioning for maybe some new threads
around the league.
Oh my gosh.
He cut the hair, which again, I don't want to come off as like Yankees bullshit or just
dumb white guy bullshit.
He looks great.
He looks like a beast, dude.
That I don't know.
What does that have to do with the Yankees that he cut his hair?
Because that's the whole Yankee thing.
So you think Vlad cut his hair and he's going to demand a trade to the Yankees?
That's not how it really works.
That's not what I'm saying that.
That's why I'm not saying that.
I got to stop you right now.
I stopped me.
You can't stop what's been stopped.
What's dead may never die.
We are ironborn.
A lot of thrones.
lately. Heard there was a scene in last night's
drag. I didn't, I was too tired to watch it last night. Don't
be saying it. I heard it was something my
my buddies. I'll take my Valerian steel out right now through this
freaking camera, bro. My buddies were surprised to see
what was happening on. She hadn't seen that in a little bit.
Will you stop?
I didn't know they're allowed to show that.
Ooh. The only other series that
jumps off the page for me
San Diego and Boston, man.
The Don Orsillo rivalry series.
Padres, again, hey, snaps to you guys.
I said get five games above.
I'll start taking it seriously.
The talent has always been there.
You know I love my king, my king.
He goes six innings one earned.
Jackson Merrill has been on it lately.
It feels like the Padres for the past month or two.
have been the version of the Padres that we've wanted that, yeah, I don't know.
I guess I'm in.
I'm willing to let myself be hurt again by them, but they, like, if we just went around
baseball and we did like genuine power rankings, like who do we like?
Which, by the way, our power rankings up did good.
We might have to do another one soon.
I don't know.
I think we like the product in San Diego.
we like it a lot.
Yeah, Machado's been a big reason for that.
He's been absolutely tearing the cover off the ball.
Then I think this is my favorite quote of the year.
You guys know that I'm a real bros of Simi Valley fan.
We had a quote that was very reminiscent of that from Jackson Merrill.
So he grew up a Red Sox fan.
He had a homer on Friday.
Quote, probably the dopest moment of my baseball earlier.
Yeah.
We need to work on some adjectives.
Tis with you? That's all right.
Disagree. Disagree.
I just imagine going like this.
You know why he can say that? He's leading the Padres in war.
Not you, Tatis.
Not you, Mani. Not Croninworth.
Not Hassan Kim. Not Profar.
Jackson Merrill, the kid.
There's some other cool stuff. The Padres have been great. I think they've won 9 of 11,
getting fired up. I like that.
This is a team that needs to play all fired up and feisty and doing all that.
stuff. They're fun to watch. The Red Sox
are fine and also fun to watch.
I'm still big on the Red Sox.
But one of the other cool
stories with Matt Waldron pitching there.
And apparently he had a chat
three years ago with Tim Wakefield. They spoke
on like a Zoom call.
And, you know,
gets the pitch or Tim Wakefield pitched.
Yeah. Pretty cool.
That's like, you know, that's a
small group of guys that throw knuckleballs.
You know, it's a tight group. That's a
community.
and for him to be able to go pitch there
that's awesome he's a Padres
pitching in Fenway
so it was awesome
that's cool to see
that's just cool vibes if you will
Padres had won nine out of ten
before losing that final game
to the Red Sox
and I
I mean Boston
you guys if you've been keeping tabs this season
you guys kind of know they've been getting pitching
Devers has been doing it
I know we bring him up
because I think it's another name that we get intimidated by.
But while you're a brave, man,
an 8-11 OPS for a young ball player,
that guy, that guy's a stud.
Rafael's been crushing the ball lately.
Last 14 games, 392, 426, 529.
Oh, yeah.
314 overall in June.
So, and how about this?
You're just stat.
Only Jackson Merrill has more.
RBI from a rookie.
Hmm.
Then Raphael.
He's got 41, Jackson Merrill 42, or that was going into Sunday's game, excuse me.
Two of the best rookies in baseball.
Who had them on their bingo card?
I guess the Jackson's, all three Jackson's.
Yeah, that was talked about.
That was discussed.
It was discussed.
And Jackson Holiday is still in AAA.
Beams, quick Jackson Holiday numbers check for us, please.
Time for our monthly Norfolk Tides update.
Other series, yeah, well.
White Sox Rockies.
14 on Getaway Day.
14 on Getaway Day.
I mentioned Brent Doyle,
a couple of nice catches to keep the game going.
So you're like stoked if you're a Rocky.
And then you're like, bro, we got to get out of here, bro.
You can just let him.
Brett and chill.
He already got the gold glove.
You don't want to talk to Ray's Nats?
I mean, that has your fingerprints.
I know.
I know.
And Jose Siri,
two home or day on that first game.
I kind of hit like what I wanted on the way through.
Like Todge Bradley 11Ks in 5.2.
He's really, really good over his last five starts, I believe.
It's been my go-to statement on the raise.
Sure, there's still some ugly numbers.
Like their win differential is ugly.
The names in their winning box scores have changed a lot.
That it makes me, I don't know.
excited and nervous for their second half.
Going into Sunday's game, so here it is.
Taz Bradley has given up four earned runs.
I'm doing math now.
This is tough.
Oh, God.
And his last 29 innings pitched.
Yum.
It's happening.
Yeah.
Don't yuck my yum.
BPD, the tides?
Jackson Holiday has an 895 OPS for the season in AAA since going back down.
it's an 847 OPS.
All right, it's good.
It's good.
It's fine.
C.J. Abrams, my guy,
who apparently is not a good short stop.
A lot of people have been telling me that.
Well, the other thing that we need to note,
James Wood, our guy, Nationals top prospect
that we've been asking for a little bit.
He's getting the call.
So that's exciting in Nationals.
I don't know what their front office is thinking
because if they're trying to get this wild card,
why didn't you call this guy up two weeks ago
when you were game out?
It's good point.
CJ Abrams, over the last 14 games,
going to Sunday, 453, 533, 532, 7774.
11 extra base hits.
Do whatever you want on defense if you're doing that.
Also, Randy Rosarena has been getting hot.
I like when you say yum.
This episode of talking baseball is brought to you by booking.com,

Any of them?
Any, yeah.
Give me a U.S. city.
And I'll booking.com you and get you there.
Memory, Louisiana.
Yeah.
Booking.
Yeah.
That's where it comes.
comes from. We're heading up to, we're heading up to Baston in July. Is that, when is that,
BPD? Are you on that? I don't think I'm on that. I think I'm separately going to Boston that
weekend. Oh, and that's why BPD's staying at his, that's why he's at his not family-friendly
hotels, but booking.com has all of it covered, depending what you're looking for for your

You're going somewhere.
It's summer.
Usebooking.com.
That's all I ask.
In your National League, how about the San Francisco Giants?
They're not dead yet.
They take two out of three from the Dodgers,
which that hasn't been too much recent Dodgers,
Hiante's baseball.
But Brett wisely,
with the walk-off two-run Homer off of Blake
trying and eat my shorts, man.
The game the Dodgers win.
They put up a crooked number in the 11th to win 14 to 7.
Yikes.
But the Giants, they get to James Paxson.
We always love when we can talk about Elliot Ramos.
I always get it kind of wrong.
Jorge Soler, you know I love that, and you know Trev loves Maddie Chapman.
Giants.
Elliot Ramos.
Keep themselves alive.
Here's fun.
Craig Counsel and his Chicago.
Faced off against formerly his brewers, and the brewers just kind of teabagged them, for lack of a better term.
You know, I don't like speaking like that.
Do we need a term for, like, grand slams in Milwaukee, like four beers, around for the table?
Because I think it's five grand slams in eight games for the Milwaukee Brewers.
And Freddie Peralta with a good star, seven innings, one earn run.
on that final day.
Justin Steele is yelling at the lads in the dugout,
even though Ian Hap homer's in that second game.
Whoops.
Brewers, they beat the Cubs, man.
And this series is kind of symbolic of both teams' first halfs.
I.M.O.
Speaking of the two hottest teams in baseball,
the Mets and the Astros,
they teed it up in Treves flushing.
Mets.
They won the first game.
The offense got it going.
Frankie Lindor, man, he's kind of become underrated.
And it hurts me to say that a little bit.
The Astros come back.
Framber gets knocked around, but it doesn't matter because Jake the Rake Myers.
He goes Big Fly.
Jeremy Pena, we're miced up.
We're making errors.
We don't love that.
But they do love that they won the final game in 11 after the rain day,
fighting off the Mets comeback.
and a Brandon Nimmo two-run homer.
Houston wins another series.
Marlins and the Phillies, they split four.
How do you like that?
Man, our guy Christopher Sanchez,
he keeps growing on and off the field.
A complete game shut piece from him.
You know what?
You know the Phillies, guys.
So how about I talk about Jake Berger and his big home run?
Nick Gordon and Nick Fortez, Forts?
The two Knicks.
have nice days at the office.
Marlins, I love it.
Whenever I can see Otto Lopez name brought up,
something about that does it for me.
The Cincinnati Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals four games,
they also split.
The two games, the Cardinals one, they shut them out.
And man, if you haven't seen what Lance Lynn is looking like
in that Cardinals uniform these days,
there's a lot of hair, there's a lot of man,
and there's a lot of shutout.
He out pitches Hunter Green in that final game.
And Andre Palante out duels Frankie Montas.
My Reds, hey, Noelvi Marte's back.
He had a big game.
Jonathan, India.
If he's not an Enfuego, I'm throwing my challenge flag.
Braves, they take two out of three from the Titsburg feelers.
Got myself.
Skeens versus Freed.
Hello.
Wow, a lot of sex, a lot of future money on that field.
And Adam Duvall with the walk-off RBI single.
Pirates, they salvage the series behind an O'Neill Cruz homer.
And Big Rowdy gets rowdy with his homer.
Braves take two out of three.
And as expected, the debacks do the same to the Oakland Athletics.
The milkman, Zach Gallen, brings it home along with Brandon Fott.
I see you gel off in Langeleers in that first game,
but it's Catelle Marte.
It's Christian Walker.
Snakes take two out of three from the athletics,
and that's what happened in the National League.
You're electric.
Where are those standings?
I'm on the baseball reference homepage.
Who pops up?
Jesse Crane.
My guy.
Your guy.
It makes me very, very happy.
Canadian?
I do have the standings.
What's that?
Is he Canadian?
He is not Canadian?
but maybe as, oh, he is Canadian.
Wow.
He's like, he went to high school in Colorado.
Okay, so he's knockoff Canadian.
Yeah, he's like, I don't know.
Gotcha.
I do have the standings.
Now he got me on Jesse Crane's baseball reference page.
And because it's Monday, you know, I'm starting out east.
Philadelphia, Philly's best record in baseball, 55 and 29, the Atlanta Braves.
Eight games back, they're 46 and 36.
And those are the only two teams, Jake, above 500 in the ALE East.
The Mets sitting at 40 and 41.
The Nationals at 39 and 44.
And then you have the Marlins down there.
They've been winning some games as of late.
30 and 54, only 25 games back.
In the Central, Milwaukee, 6 and a half game lead.
They're 50 and 34.
The Cardinals, 43 and 40.
Those are the only two teams above 500 in that division.
Pittsburgh is at 40 and 43, Cincinnati, 39 and 45, and the Cubs, 39 and 46.
The Cubs have the third worst record in the National League.
Okay, that checks out.
In the West, the Dodgers, seven and a half games up on the pods, okay.
52 and 33, Paddrich, 46 and 42.
Those are the only two teams above 500 in the division.
The snakes, 41 and 43.
the Giants, 41 and 44, and then the Colorado Rockies,
28 and 55 in the wild card.
Atlanta sitting firmly in that top spot
with San Diego holding a half-game lead on the Cardinals.
In the second spot, Cardinals had the third spot.
Then there's the Mets two games back, Arizona, two and a half games back,
San Francisco and Pittsburgh, three games back.
It's still jumbled up there in the National League wild card.
Those are the standings.
In the senior circuit?
Hmm. Yeah.
Yeah. I think that's what they call it.
Yum.
I mean.
Speaking of yummy.
Okay.
For me, it's Pat Murphy.
Oh, I don't know.
I caught some of the post game interview after they won that final game.
And that was a guy who was feeling pretty good about where him and his brew crew are at.
Part of that is Jackson Tariot.
joins the Grand Slam party.
And by the way,
he's having a nice little three-week stretch,
which remember the Brewer's offense that was going insane.
He was like the worst hitter on the team during that time period.
If he kicks into gear,
that should change how you're feeling about your brew crew.
But yeah, man, I don't know.
Things are hot in Chicago.
Justin Steele's yelling at the boys to,
to focus it up a little bit.
And this series, I said it on the way through.
It just felt like it encompassed this team's,
each team's first half of the season.
Cubs got a hit.
Council after the game,
just like this, like, sullen, just sad press conference.
That's basically the only thing he could say was,
we just need to score runs.
Like, we got to score runs, essentially.
It's kind of been the M.O. of the season.
But I agree.
This is, what's the record now between these two teams?
Because they face off quite a bit as of late.
I'm going to go get it right now.
It's been all Brewers.
I do know that.
Let me see real quick.
So Milwaukee against the Cubs.
Oh, I guess it hasn't been.
Six to four.
Okay.
I thought it was a little bit more than that.
But yeah, the Brewers have been hot, hitting Grand Slam.
Yelly had a great Instagram post about, hey, man, I tried my best.
I just hit a regular homer.
Yeah.
Like, I did everything I could.
That's when you know times are good.
Yes, when you can joke about stuff like that.
Hendricks actually, coming to the last game,
he had been really good in June after getting kicked out of the rotation.
So like, I guess Cubs, you could look towards that.
I mean, the pitching hasn't been the problem for them at all.
But to get Hendricks back looking good,
I know the start wasn't great for him in Milwaukee.
at least that's something you could like say okay this is nice
but yeah it's been it's been the offense for the Cubs man
and Kyle Hendricks
feel like we're going to see him on a new team
I don't I don't know it's been a lifelong cubby
but there's there's a lot of contending teams
that are looking for just a little bit of starting pitching
that you wonder you want he's been going
he's been going back and forth he made two starts
prior to the Sunday start in June he had a
1-27 ERA in the five appearances.
He started lowering his change-up usage,
started throwing his curveball a lot more.
This is the highest curve usage in his career.
He threw one four-seamer over his hundred pitches against the Giants,
and that's the lowest four-seem usage of his career.
So this is a good, another good stat.
I got some good Hendrik stats up.
95.9% of his pitches thrown, Jake.
That's almost all of them.
Yeah.
In June, have been below 90 miles per hour.
Yeah, he lives there.
He lives there.
Get him.
I'll stop before Cubs fans get mad.
Hey, the five grand slams.
Tarang, June 22nd.
Our guy, Reeser Hoskins, Monday.
Jake Bowers, Wednesday.
Jackson Trio Friday and Bryce Terrang today.
Remember how fun Slam Diego was?
A, just because the words worked out really well.
But when you have this energy,
now every time the bases get loaded,
everyone starts looking around in a good way.
Like that...
Dude, baseball's so contagious, dude.
It's insane.
It's insane that...
Where's your data to back that up?
Yeah.
Yes.
My data point that I'll point to
is the Brewers currently
and go look at every Yankee at bat for two week before Wandsoto Homer
and then look at all the abats after Wandsoto Homer,
the monkey came off their back and they were playing ball again
and vibes are good.
Yeah, the brewers, once you make this a thing,
like that's where I was trying to think of a creative,
something with like four beers,
and maybe it's a round for the table
because like that's what the brewers are doing right now.
Let's get another.
Let's get another.
I love when someone buys a round for the tail.
I'm like, yes.
That's probably a good you and me overlap.
I'm a big buy the first round guy.
Just because, you know.
So you just set the precedent.
Hey, I bought mine.
Then you're done for the rest of the day.
Just because, like, hey, if the night,
I don't know where the night's going.
But hey, first round, it's here.
I've done my part.
Let's see what happens the rest of the way.
I'm a big sneak my card.
Like, go to the bathroom and sneak my card to the waiter.
And then all of a sudden the bill's already paid.
Yeah.
What?
Wait, Trev did that?
No, guys.
That's so cool.
God.
Fucking bonus, baby.
I want to do that.
12 series losses in their past 14 for the Cubbies.
That's a problem.
What are they going to do?
I mean, I think they're four games back of a wild card spot,
so they're not like, it's not like it's all is lost,
but when you have the third worst record,
excuse me, five games back of the last wildcard spot.
You got to jump six or seven teams to get there.
That's the problem.
You can't just look at that number and say,
we're five games back.
It's like, well, these other teams are closer than you
and they're not all going to go on some slide
while you go on a winning streak.
And then you've got to get on a winning streak.
Hey, the calendar just changed.
If you remember last year,
they got hot enough to not trade belly.
That was the thing.
It ended up kind of not paying.
off, but yeah, I think that what could end up being a good thing for baseball, the trade
deadline, and everything in general, like as of a week ago, that number was three games back,
which any baseball team sees three games back, and you believe, like you believe in September
if you're three games back.
That number keeps getting to five, five and a half, six.
Then you've got to start asking some real questions, and the Cubs would have some assets to move.
I mean, you know, Cody has his weird opt-out contract.
That, like, what does that look like?
I mentioned...
See, I don't think they do have a lot of people to move
because this is, like, their team.
Like, they built this team.
Now, you can, yeah, you can say Bellinger.
But other than that, these guys are like theirs and they're around.
So if you start to break up, this is like their roster, their core.
They don't have a ton of guys.
You can talk about some bullpen pieces, sure.
You can talk about Bellinger.
but other than that, like, this is their team.
Like, they set this team up to win.
So if you're breaking this team down,
that means you're breaking up the team for next year as well.
Like, who are they moving?
I don't, I mean, I don't want to be clickbait, but like,
and he's our guy.
I guess this is a genuine question.
Could Ian hap, like, be on the table?
He's two and a half.
He's getting paid a little bit, but he's a switch hitter.
Like we've talked about depending who's available or not.
Like, I guess in my head, it's belly would be available.
What does Ian Hap have on his contract left?
He's signed through 26.
So yeah, he's got some.
It's two and a half.
I mean, the full thing's three for 61.
What are you going to, what are you going to do?
You're going to find someone better than Ian Hap in a trade?
I mean, not for this year.
So you're right.
Like, Camis.
Michael Bush, you just got him.
He's got a ton of years of control.
Nico Warner, that's your guy.
He's got a ton of years of control.
Danzby just signed.
Morel's got years of control.
Hap you signed.
Suzuki you signed.
So it's like,
and PCA, like, yeah.
I guess the follow-up, though,
like,
I don't know.
When's the last time this Cubs team
has been in the mix?
So if this is your team,
do you need to shake it up?
You know?
It's tough days out there.
Cubs have not been to a real playoff series
series if you take out
2020 and they lost
a one game playing wild card. They haven't
played a real playoff game since
2017. That's
it's not what you want.
Yeah. It's not what you want.
Trev,
the NL outside of this, it gets
a little thin. I mean, we do have to talk Houston
and the Mets. Dodgers in San Francisco.
You're my L.A. guy.
I don't. Interesting
series. I mean, look, this is always
always a rivalry series.
A giant still doing a thing where they have three starters.
So they had a couple opener, like, bullpen days in a row.
They keep having to navigate that.
It's very tough.
I believe they have a bunch of guys who lead the big leagues in appearances
because their bullpen has just been used so much.
The Dodgers needed that too.
Their bullpen got taxed.
And then they had James Paxton was trying to, like, eat up some innings.
But he only went whatever he went.
Three and a third or four in a third.
I mean, get on the Giants, dude.
Hey, every recap I'm learning a new Giants player.
Spencer Bivens gets five innings in that final game.
Who is the handsome boy from last series?
Oh.
He had a fun name.
Let me get in there.
The guy with a fun name.
Giants.
He had some, like, beautiful curls like I do.
Great eyes.
Hayden Bird Song
Hayden Bird Song
Pitching tomorrow
I forgot his name
I mean are the
Spencer Bivens
He um
You know where he made his like
Started playing
Baseball
Where's that
France?
Oh
Yeah I mean the Frenchman
There's a chance
The Giants are just AI generating pitchers at this part
Yeah we want a guy
Unique name
He grew up playing in France
Bivens
See the ball boy save Otani, Trev.
Yes.
Thoughts?
He deserves a lot of cash.
If I was Otani, I would just go around, just go,
here you go.
Well, hey, we heard, I don't want to give away all of our sources.
But only in IOUs, because he's only making $2 million this year.
Right.
I don't want to give away all of our sources.
Do you think he's like, do you think he's like,
like dumb and dumber when they start filling the bucks?
That's Otani.
You might want to hold on to this one.
We heard from a very good source
that when Otani was in Colorado,
he bought the whole Rocky's ground crew sushi.
So that's pretty sick.
Oh, I know who you heard that from.
I also know him.
Some sleuths will be able to put it together.
But yeah, I don't know.
I think we like when people are good people.
This broke that original, that first game broke the Migi Rojas
if he hits the Dodgers win.
24 games.
That's nice.
24 games.
That's a good feeling.
I was actually watching that game yesterday at the pizza place.
I told you I went and had a beer after this youth baseball I watched.
We were watching the Giants just put it on.
I saw Matt Chapman hit a home run live.
That was fun.
You love Matt Chapman.
I do.
God, we could...
Very nice guy.
We could probably...
He's sitting at 3.1 war.
He signed an interesting contract.
Let's see.
I'm going to butter night
his numbers the best I can.
Let's see.
We've got a 5 OPS.
Let's go from here.
Matt Chapman's last 38 games.
Who!
38's a chunk.
Matt Chapman's last 30s.
385, 392, 892 OPS.
Still plays a fine third base as well.
Go get a follow-up bag.
This is an incredible note on our sheet.
The Giants allowed seven runs in the 11th.
The last time the club allowed that many in extras
was August 6, 1922 against the Cubs at the Polo Grounds.
Love me, the Polo Grounds.
Something else the Giants.
Anything you can bring up the polo grounds, it's fun.
Yeah.
Something else the Giants did this series that stuck out.
Move to Jorge Saler to lead off.
Yeah.
Like that?
Yeah.
Big man.
You want to start the game?
Look at this.
The stats say it sparked them.
Trev, I think kind of my final series met's Astros.
Two hot teams, the power of grimace.
Houston getting to above 500
and reintroducing themselves
to this baseball season
I don't want to blow up my spot
or Lindsay Singleton spot
one of our biggest fans of the show
Jess posted
one of my friends had a baby shower this weekend
and I was there and there was a lot of kids
and we ended up by a bar that was kind of near the street
so we were playing kid defense
you know, don't let the kids by the street.
Just posted that.
She lovingly called me gunkled Jake.
And we just finished up Pride Month.
Happy pride to everyone.
Lindsay Singleton did DM me and she asked if I was gay.
And I told her, I was like, no, that's my wife posted that.
But I don't know.
It's a question that gets brought up kind of monthly.
So.
No, I mean, I'm whatever, what is it, fluid, fluids?
Yeah.
you do love some fluids.
So if you have anything on this series,
you're more than welcome.
This is the two best teams in June.
Yeah.
Going at it.
And they split the first two games.
So the Astros actually ended up
with the best record in June
as they won the last game.
But that was, you know,
both these teams needed this June
big time.
And then, you know, the Mets could have won this series.
They blew a five-run lead in that second game.
And they came.
back in the last game.
They 4-0,0 made it 4-4.
So this is two teams to definitely watch.
I think we had these teams written off big time before this June.
And you have a month like that, get back in the swing of things.
And now in the standings, Houston's still three and a half games back of the division
and the wild card.
And the Mets just two games back of the wild card.
Not going to win the division, but it's totally changed the fortune of
the season or the, you know, the trajectory of the season for these teams.
If you had to, life on the line, bet, who wins the AL West?
Who would you pick?
Life on the line?
Life on the line.
Are we talking like, can I like, as is team or like add additional pieces to the team?
What's going to happen the rest of the way?
At the end of the 2024 regular season, who will be atop the AAL West?
Houston.
tough to not pick them
it's down to three right
because they're starting to get some better
like starting pitching from the guys
like Brown and Araggeti
like oh he needs to
he's had one good start
but he needs to continue to go
I mean that's the biggest thing
they've had so many injuries in their pitching staff
that kind of happens
and they figure something out then
nine and one in their last 10
same old song and dance
with Seattle let's go
They're back.
They're back.
Trev.
God, there was a lot of ball.
Four games.
You're not talking about, like,
you're not talking about Jose Iglesias
and what he's doing, dude.
You want to talk about that?
You're free to.
He's hidden over 400.
He has a concert after the game.
The song's actually a banger.
Number one on the Latin charts
in the Apple Music Store.
Like, this is, like, real.
Did he come back
played just to promote his song. That's my question.
And in the process hit over 400
and like be a spark plug for the fucking
Mets dude. Accidentally been hitting. The Mets
always have the most
outrageous story. It's just never easy.
It's just. It's insane.
Like they're, it's like reality TV with them.
Yes. It's like so bad
that it's good, but then when it's good, it's really
good. Like this is
it's insane. No other team can't
No, if I was to say, hey, man, there's a, there's a team out there.
And one of their players is going to have a smash hit single.
They're going to be really bad.
They're going to be really good.
And this guy has kind of like been out of the league.
He's going to come back.
You'd say the Mets.
Like, this sounds like the Mets.
Who's going to have their win streak fueled by Grimmis?
That's good.
The Mets.
This happens every year.
It's, it's insane.
Dude, they, we talk.
They brought in Buck Showalter to try to, like, not Mets themselves
because he's, like, one of the most respected guys around the game.
He couldn't.
Like, we need a stronger wizard.
We need Dumbledorf to come back.
Who's Dumbledorf?
Um, we're, Trev, we're, like, running.
I think we got to get it going.
I feel bad.
I'm, like, happy for our Braves.
Reds and Cardinals dry humped each other over the field,
but I think we got to start getting to standout performers.
Okay.
Standout performances.
Standout performances are brought to you by Trev Magic Spoon.

We love ourselves some Magic Spoon around the John Boy Media office.
Trev, who is your standout?
Well, I'm going with Miguel Rojas and he went three for five, a four-runs driven.
You kind of just stole it for me there at the end, talking about his streak.
But I wanted to go in and I'm just, let me get these numbers up real quick.
You know, Mookie Betts goes out on June 16th.
And, you know, hey, what's going on?
What are we going to do?
We're going to make a trade.
Is Willie Adomis going to come play shortstop?
Is Boba Shet going to come over there?
Meanwhile, Miki Rojas is like,
nah, dude, I got it.
Since June 16th, he started to play every single day.
A bat's 14 hits.
He said in 350, 386, 450 for the 836 OPS
while playing good defense.
He's like, guys, I got it.
And when Mookie comes back, move his ass to second base.
I got it.
I think that might happen.
If he continues to hit like that as a serviceable bat,
It doesn't even have to have an 836 OPS,
but a guy that can put good abats together,
which he can, play shortstop.
I don't know if Moogie comes back and plays short.
I don't think he goes back to the outfield.
I think he might move over to second base.
There's a lot of things they can do.
But having Miguel Rojas on this team,
worst teammate ever, right?
That's what we heard.
It's not true.
I heard that from one source.
We heard from a lot of other sources.
He's like the best guy in the league.
Five million dollar team option
for next year. Early reporting by me, Dodgers might be snagging that.
On the year, 297, 344, 446 for the 790 OPS.
Yeah, I think that's the surprising part.
Like, Miggie Rose had a couple seasons where the contact has been there,
but there's a little pop behind it right now.
A lot of doubles.
Good on him.
And yeah, I also, talking baseball listeners, may remember this.
I was big Willie Adomis to the Dodgers.
In my head, it made sense.
Our social team posted a clip of me saying that.
And Miguel Rojas just replied to that and said,
we're good.
And Blue Jays aren't trading Bo Bichet.
They're not.
Someone's got to get traded.
The Dodgers don't need a shortstop.
No.
Six short stops.
I can't promise you, Bo will outplay what Miguel
Someone was in, who was playing center field for the Dodgers yesterday?
Because it wasn't, it wasn't great.
Okay.
This is a fun game.
Was it Pahe's?
Trevor Ploof, which shots fired.
A couple, a couple he just kind of gave up on out there.
But there is a lot of room out there.
And it's not an easy center field to play.
It was Pahes.
Yeah.
Um, and Pahas.
And just a reminder.
Are Pahas and Pahas related?
Did we look that up?
Oh, okay.
Well, I just brought up Spencer Bivens picture.
And I do know who.
who he is, so I feel better about that.
I think we looked up the Pahas boys,
and I don't think there's a connection.
Like St. Louis, is he pages?
Oh, no, because there's one Tildae,
or Asento on Pedro, but not on Andy.
And I also believe Andy is Cuban and Pedro's Venezuelan.
Pedro is also Pahez.
I mean, two Pahezes at the same time?
But the Asento's not there.
On Andy.
Well, you know where the Ascento isn't, Trev?
Davis Daniel.
Hmm.
Yeah, hey, not a lot of Halo's love on this program,
even though they are currently streaking a little bit.
I think they might be tracking to get that over now.
I need BPD to check on that.
And I'm actually doing a pitcher's double dip
because Davis Daniel, I got to watch a chunk of the start.
And it's always funny when it's a kid's first,
day at the office because they were they were like the commentary in broadcast was like after the
fifth inning they were like are they going to pull the plug on this like this is an incredible
start for a kid's first start he goes eight innings um zero earn runs i again this is my
manalytic stat but it was like the best angels rookie start ever because it was eight innings
shutout uh so good for i call him a kid i think he's 27 uh but had a couple of
bullpen appearances. This was his first start on the major league level, and he goes eight shut
piece. And then I had to pair him up because this is technically the better start. Christopher
Sanchez, who's become a talking baseball legend in his own right. Trev, I mentioned it with the
Phillies, and it just feels like they're in a good movie slash video game. Hey, they give him the
extension to buy out his arm and I think get one more year on the back end. Since then, he's just
hasn't given up a run.
He goes complete game shut.
Like, we talked about some other organizations.
How many other organizations would we say that if they gave the extension,
their next start, the guy would get rocked.
I won't name teams.
But I think the listeners at home can figure them out.
Where the Phillies, hey, you know what?
We're going to give this kid the bag he deserves,
and he's gone out and only pitched better.
So those are the two pitchers I want to give love to.
Scott Baker signed a deal in spring training.
People remember Scott Baker,
but as vanilla as they come.
Love you, Scott.
Wow.
And he got rocked in his next start.
And Clubhouse was quiet.
Delman Young goes,
Hey, beg, don't worry.
That contract's guaranteed.
Just like flat like that.
And he was like in his,
he wasn't happy.
Then everyone started.
are laughing at him.
I'm like, yeah, it is.
That is.
Good point, Del.
That's, uh...
Yeah, I had another player I was going to bring up.
I'm not going to bring it up.
And it's mostly...
What's that, these?
My quick math has the Angels getting...
They are right on the line of their over-under pace right now.
Let's go.
Halo's baseball.
We didn't even give it to Wyatt Langford.
He had for a cycle.
He's been going...
I'm a fucking nut job.
Man, we left a lot of teams out today.
It's just because there's so much juice right now.
What happens on Monday apps?
I think we're coming up on the juiciest part of the program
because the best segment of our show is brought to you by Corona.
It's the official servesa of talking baseball.
Me and if you know Trevor and I,
we could not be more hype for this.
If we get an excuse to have a couple more coronial,
especially around the...
And we did.
And we did.
Just in New York.
And so we did.
Guys, like, I feel like I don't even have to tell you.
Here's what I will tell you.
And I'm supposed to be reading so much off this sheet,
and I'm currently not.
But this is what I want to tell you.
I didn't get into the Corona Extra game for a couple years
because I was like, you know what?
I'm a light guy.
Corona light.
I'll live here.
I know what I like.
The Corona Extra.
Just a little more juice to it.
it, if you will.
And whether your team's having a good day at the office or a bad day at the office, the best
teams are going to lose 60 games.
You're not losing if you've got the corona in your hand.
So, if you love the game, beyond the game.
Corona for the fans who never lose.
Yep.
Get yours at order corona.com.

Order Corona.com.
Trev, let's start.
I got a couple of Corona tics.
Number one, congratulations to your advertising team
consistently some of the best commercials on TV.
And I believe there's one commercial
that's been running for like the longest,
like the longest running commercial is the one where
the Christmas tree, the Palm Tree Christmas Tree.
I think we've talked about that on this show just
I think we did for some reason
that commercials came up
For whatever reason that hits our core
But this hits your core
Dark Nasty's on Fuego
That means I'm on fire baby
Like Waco
We're such a good show that we've already talked about
Pretty much all of these guys
We'll start for the series
In that Toronto outfit remember him George Springer
Yes
What's 7 for 11
that's nice. Two doubles, two homers, eight runs driven in, three runs scored for the two daughter.
Unconscious. On Thursday, Springer. Unconscious.
Springer hit both of his three-run homers in the first and second inning. The last player in the Major League Baseball to do this was
Hanley Ramirez. But the Red Sox, I love Hanley Ramirez. We don't talk about Hanley Ramirez enough.
That was in 2016. One of the sweeter swings. I loved and still do love Hanley Ramirez.
Baltimore outfield or Heston Kirstad
5 for 8 a double
2 homers 8 runs driven in for the 2.2er
How about Jackson
Merrill talked about him as well
Jackson
7 for he should be on
the Orioles
7 for 14 that's a 500 average
2 doubles 2 homers 5 runs driven in
he's hit 9 homers in June
which ties Ryan Schmiff
for most homers by a Padres
Rookie in a nice note right there
for the week
uh-oh, Jake and Beavers.
It's that bad man.
Kyle Higashioka went six for 17, two doubles,
three homers, 10 runs driven in.
Over the last week, his 10 runs driven in are the most.
In the National League, Yelso, that homer hit is a grand slam,
was a big fly on top of that building and left.
Byron Bucks didn't mention hit. Oh, my goodness.
Buck.
Buck, Dad. The Buck truck.
Oh, the chain down.
though. Orrin, 8 for 19, two doubles, three homers, nine runs driven in. Over the last week,
he's boosted his average from 238 to 260 and his OPS from 672 to 769. Matt Chappie,
my guy. Stole my job, still love him. That's how you know he's cool. 10 for 26, two doubles,
three homers, nine runs driven in for the 1.2. He even stole a base, by the way. Jonathan India is on this
twice, so I don't know how to do. Yeah, I think this is a first. I think this is a first. I think this is
the first. Dalton, maybe he was watching
House of Dragons while doing this.
We'll just go for the week. Dalton didn't touch
Jonathan Indy. I made sure
we got our guy. Oh, double.
Okay, so this is a BBD double
double. Let's go for the week.
14 for 26 and the week 10
doubles, speaking of doubles.
Five runs driven in and then for the two weeks.
He's 22 for 48.
12 doubles, a homer
six runs driven in for the 1.2.
We spoke about Vladdy, the
haircut, the juice, kind of getting down.
He sparked the Yankees season because he ran a hard 90.
19 for 52, 365 average, 5-double, 6 homers, 20 freaking runs driven in.
He's recorded multi-RBI games in six straight, which set a new franchise record.
That's the best type of hit and you can do right there.
And then we've got a couple pitchers to end this off.
How about Milwaukee's starting pitcher?
Freddie Peralta, our guy.
Three games started, 18 innings pitch,
nine hits, three earned runs,
22Ks for the 1.5 ERA and the 0.83 whip.
And then Tanner Scott,
I feel like he's on this every freaking...
He's been in Fuego all year long.
Whose team will he be pitching for?
Eight games started, or excuse me,
games pitched.
One and O, four saves, eight innings pitched in those games.
Only four hits, no earned runs.
That's a zero ERA.
So that's kind of what you want.
And that's his in Fuego.
Brought to you by Corona.
Corona Extra baby.
Yeah, we really did catch everyone on the way through.
Good on us.
Besides Tanner Scott, which hopefully he'll be,
he could be pitching for your team very soon.
Probably just got to give up a couple middle prospects.
Jonathan India has been going absolutely bonkers.
Doubles machine.
I'm happy for him.
That's a doubles number.
Marte came back. We didn't talk about that either.
He had a nice game.
Who's that?
Marte?
Yeah, Marte. He had one.
I think the rest of the series wasn't there.
I texted the Hess and Kirsta at Homer that has me frustrated with his power
because he's a boy.
He gets jammed on a cutter and it's just out.
Yeah, jammed on that?
To deep right center.
It's inside.
He doesn't get the fat part of the bat on it.
Freaking lettuce.
Dude, the black batting gloves right there.
He's wearing that uni nice.
I like when you say BGs.
So if you could do that.
Yeah, you're right.
That's their city connects, right?
Yeah.
Those are nice.
Not bad.
Baltimore's got it going on.
What doesn't have it going on is the IL segment.
Brought to you by Jake.
Placed on the IL.
outfielder Will Brennan for Cleveland.
He's one of their AI-generated outfielders.
The young prince Tyro Estrada and his old uncle,
Wilmer Flores, they both hit the IL for San Francisco.
How about this for Philly?
We haven't talked about this yet.
Harper and Schwarber in the same game.
Go down and they're on the IL.
Circle that, watching the next couple weeks of Philly's
baseball as we head towards the All-Star break,
along with Spencer Turnbull had been so good for them.
Speaking of, Jared Kainick, my God.
That guy had been lights out for Milwaukee.
Returning for the aisle.
Hey, Philly gets Cody Clemens.
Sounds like some at-bats just opened up.
Let's see if he can get hot again.
Martine Perez for Pittsburgh.
Lamont Wade Jr.
It's getting late in San Francisco.
Zach Gallen return.
Chowey Park for Pittsburgh.
Elias Diaz, Gavin Williams for Cleveland, and Charlie Blackman.
So we love that.
And now it's time to start our weekend.
Trev, kick it off.
What a beautiful baby announcement for the lynches on Instagram.
They're painting walls.
Well, that's a, it's always, I think our best growth strategy for John Boy Media and
Toggin baseball is make more baseball fans.
And we're basically, we are in shirts.
We are ensured that we have another listener coming up.
I didn't.
I like new Kelsey love baseball.
Obviously, Casey Lynch, her husband is a baseball coach, loves baseball, them getting together.
Yeah.
It was wild.
Okay.
Speaking of LSU.
My award is called the Statute of Limitations in Louisiana.
I'm excited.
I know you are.
I was a young pup at one point
2004 comes around
I get drafted by the Minnesota Twins
I end up going to Elizabeth in Tennessee
where I meet
I meet
San Francisco Giants pitching coach
J.P. Martinez
We become fast friends. He's an old soul
we listened to the same type of music
at that point. I was into a lot of
classic rock. He's an eclectic guy
So he's put me on some folk.
We just, we hit it off, man.
We'd have a couple pops.
Even though I was a little longer age, statute of limitation.
And we bonded.
And we became roommates throughout the minor leagues and still very good friends.
And I still talked to him.
At one point, he made a trip out to California and rented a red convertible,
I think a Mustang convertible and drove up and down the coast.
And I said, what is going on?
This is not on brand with what you are.
because you're kind of like a hippie indie dude
and you have a red convertible.
That's besides the point.
Early on, I mentioned I was a young kid
and what a young kid sometimes do.
And I'm not saying you should do this
if you're a youngster listening, don't do this.

They get fake IDs.
So, JP, he gave me his driver's license to use.
And this is, again,
it doesn't seem like that long ago, but it was 20 years ago.
Yeah, it happens quick.
It happens quick.
His license was like a piece of paper.
It was like, I was like, what's going on in Louisiana where this is just a piece of paper with like, it looked like he just went and like photocopied it at, you know, your high school library or something.
So I had that.
It was from Metery, Louisiana.
And I had to like memorize all the stuff on it.
You know, I had to memorize the age, all that stuff.
And I'd never used it.
Wow.
never used it once. So I had it, but didn't use. I didn't like need to. Like I just wasn't
getting carded anywhere. You know, when I was playing, you know, a couple places. Tennessee, they
don't care. Right. They just drink moonshine all day long, have a good time. Florida,
no one cares in Florida. So I didn't have to use it really ever. Until one day, I was in
California. Now, California's a stickler for all things like this. I, um, we took my uncle's RV
shout out the Raj Lodge.
It's been around since 1986.
We took it, me and a couple of my buddies, went beach camping,
and we filled our cooler up.
I wish it was Corona extras.
I'd be lying if I said it was, though.
It was a Kor's original, the banquet beer.
We filled a cooler up, and we just were having a fire,
responsibly just having some pops around there.
Then all of a sudden, officer comes by.
So now we start shaking a little bit.
Right.
And he goes, where do you guys?
You guys having some fun, drinking?
We're like, yeah, not doing anything, Rowdy.
What are you doing?
We need to see some IDs.
And now, really shaken.
My two buddies, so I was with, they don't have an ID.
So, like, sir, we don't have an ID.
And he goes, what about you?
And I go, and I start thinking.
Yeah.
I do have one.
But what do I do?
Because this thing looks like a piece of paper.
and in that moment
I gave it to him
wow
and he looked at it
he gives it back to me
the other two
got MIPs
wow
he also made us pour out
all of our beers
in front of him
yeah that's tough
but I got away
scott free
statute of limitations
can't hold this against me
court of California
so I got away with it
never used it again
I was too scared
never used it to get right um but it was metery louisiana i'll never forget that you know who's
also from louisiana and bringing this thing all around right now i'd love to find out how about
our guy jacob set lugo wow shreveport yeah louisiana went to parkway high school in basier city
Louisiana. Then he went to Centenary College of Louisiana. This guy is Louisiana through and through.
I could have used his ID if we time traveled and I think he's younger than me, so that doesn't make any sense.
This guy has been on a heater and we've talked about him from time to time, but I don't think we've talked about him enough. Jake, he's had 18 starts.
14 of them have been quality starts.
Right now, baseball reference has enlisted as a 4.2 war.
He's sitting with a 1.034 whip.
He leads the league and a lot of things.
How about innings pitch?
Do you like that?
I do.
You like innings pitch from your pitcher?
Oh, you do.
What about ERA plus?
That's good.
He leads the entire big leagues in that with a 196 ERA plus.
He leads the big leagues in ERA and winning percentage.
Game started.
If I was to say, hey, do you want a pitcher that leads the league innings pitch?
Game started.
ERA plus and ERA, would you like that?
You'd be like, yeah, I want that.
That's what Seth Lugo has done.
And it's for me a nightmare type of pitcher because he throws a million types of pitches.
Those is four seamer 24% of the time.
His sinker 20% of the time is curb ball 16.7.
His slider 10.7.
His slurve 10%.
Change up 8%.
cutter 7%
and throw the sweeper
which is probably
just not even real
but 4% of the time
8 pitches
Jake
8 freaking pitches
nothing over
24%
that's a hitter's nightmare
so he comes to
Kansas City he's had some good years
with other organizations
with the Mets comes to Kansas City
solidifies the rotation
you got Cole Reagan's
there doing his thing
but Seth Lugo
I don't want to say out of nowhere,
but kind of out of nowhere being the guy.
And we keep waiting for the ball to drop.
I think that's the way you use that saying.
The expected stats aren't really there with them.
Kind of like a mid-pitcher if you're going by expected stats.
But Jake, we like tangible things.
Yeah.
He's got the best pitching run value in all the baseball.
His fastball values 97 percentile.
breaking ball value is the best in the 100th percentile.
This guy is an absolute stud.
Again, 14 of 18 starts have been quality.
It's been incredible, and he's the reason why the Royals are still in a playoff spot.
And he's signed for 15 this year, and next year he's got one more and then a player option.
15, 15, and then, oh, no, yeah, 15, 15, 15, and then a $15 million player option.
Is Kansas City going to say, no, we're good?
Like, let's just rip that one up and give you a new one?
I don't know.
He's 34 years old right now, doing it.
But I feel like we've talked about Seth Lugo, but I haven't really talked about
Seth Lugo.
So I wanted to make sure we shouted them out, gave him an award, Louisiana boy through and through,
which I did not know.
Did you have that on your radar?
I've been on Seth Lugo's page,
not coming into this year.
I've been on it a lot this year.
And Treve, I mean, just...
Well, statute of limitations in Louisiana
award goes to Seth.
What was the RV place you shouted out there?
Well, my uncle's RV was called the Raj Lodge.
Roger Plouf, the Raj Lodge.
I thought that was a business for a second.
I'm glad I'm not giving out this award,
because I had one of the worst times of my life in Shreveport, Louisiana.
So I'm glad you took us through that journey.
He's said Lugo's probably been the best pitcher in the American League.
And the other thing that I don't know enough about it,
I guess I should ask Jolly, or maybe it's going to be a Jolly Olive video.
You know, he comes up with the Mets,
and they're kind of like those Generation K Mets, like Cindergarde, DeGrom,
Mats is around, Harvey's lurking, that, you know,
he got some starts at a young age,
but then he got kicked to the bullpen.
And he had some swingman starts and stuff like that,
but he was a valuable bullpen asset.
And for me, I just wonder, you know,
how many days was Seth Lugo in that bullpen being like,
I'm, I think I'm a pretty good starting pitcher.
And it's kind of the pitching version of like,
this is a little different, but, you know,
everyone comes up as an infielder, more or less.
Like, we see outfield prospects now.
But a lot of guys played shortstop.
A lot of guys, you know, Nick Cassiano's came up as an infielder.
The guy, random page I just clicked on for the example.
Lordus Gurriel Jr., his rookie year with Toronto, second base shortstop.
He got kicked to the outfield that, you know, it's funny,
the opportunity that gets provided by your team,
like if Lordus Gurriel Jr. came up on another team and they needed a first baseman,
he probably would have figured it out and we'd be talking about him as a solid first.
Baseman.
Said Lugo, hey, you're a major
leaguer. That's sick, dude. You're a pretty good
bullpen guy. Spin that curveball. Let's
see it. He told them
like, no, I really
want to start. He's forced
his opportunity. He's starting to get paid
real money, and he's looking
like he could start the All-Star game.
Shout out San Diego
for giving him that opportunity.
He's been in 319
games in his career. He's only started
82 of those games. He's finished
66. He's almost finished more
the same amount that he started.
He's been incredible, man.
Like, what if
at that age to just kind of like turn your entire
career around, you love that.
Good. Good on him
for when he hit free agency
at 32, 33 years old, he told teams
I want to start.
And again, I hope it starts
a trend. We talked about it with Jordan Hicks.
We talked about it with a couple other guys like, hey,
Ronaldo Lopez.
If that arm is built up, and that, you know, that's Jakey Medic kicking in.
I mean, what crochet's doing is almost so scary that I think we don't talk about it
because it's like, hey, take it easy on my guy.
You convince the Padres to give you seven and a half, they'll say, I can be,
and that's kind of like, that's a newish trend, reliever turn starter.
It's a newish trend.
You convince them to give you seven and a half.
You go out and do your thing there through 26 starts.
You pitch a full season, and then you guarantee yourself 45 mil.
It's not bad
Not bad
Especially in Louisiana
Bro you could
Oh
We got we got Gatos
We got everything
Does he talk like that though
I don't think so
I don't think so either
I don't know
No idea
Too much time in the big city
Think about that
Right
Louisiana got to the big city
Lost a lot of money
In Shreveport
Rulet table was not
Bouncing the right way
Um
Crab
Incredible award
I think some people loved it
I think some people blocked our program forever.
I won't help it.
I guess I'll try to be high and tight.
I'm going to give out the steak in the morning award.
I'll do long story short because we're running kind of long,
and I may have told this on here before.
We did have a roommate in college for a little bit that was an alcoholic,
and he's strained things out.
He's on a really good path.
We're happy for him.
but one night he pulled an all-night bender overnight, you know, just that, you know,
kind of scary look in his eye.
And he woke up.
And so we had a bunch of guys in our house.
We had guys going to class.
We had guys who were working at the time.
Like one of our buddies was interning at like a law firm.
So we're, so I don't know.
It's 8 a.m.
There's a bunch of guys in the house getting ready, pretending to be real humans.
And that, our drinking roommate, he, uh,
he's like, yeah, I'll make breakfast and try to blend in.
And it was like, dude, you are not blending in right now.
You are very much standing out.
That he made eggs and he had like a leftover steak from the night before.
And he was like, yeah, you know, just grilling up some steak and eggs.
Our buddy walked pie and, like, looking at the scene, like, what's going on?
And he just goes, steak in the morning.
And he stormed out the door.
It was just, it was really powerful.
No who's been having stakes in the morning and at night
And whenever he wants them
It's a Kansas City award show
Vinnie Pasquintino
Our guy
Seven straight games with an RBI
Yo
The numbers for the last two months
Again he had a weird injury
And missed a ton of time last year
First month came out of the gates a little slow
He's been basically an 800 OPS guy
For the past two months
And hey sometimes we like some
basic traditional stuff in baseball,
if you're at first base,
you better be driving people in.
And Pasquatch has.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
Seven straight games, driving in runs.
Sometimes we get worried when we get biased
because we know these guys too well.
And everyone might know my Vinnie P. story.
But he's an awesome dude.
Thanks, Chris Rose is cool.
He's been a big part of Kansas City.
having a strong start to their season.
And not to bring it full circle,
full circle,
you know where he went to college?
I don't.
Old Dominion,
Justin Verlander,
a little bit of a sneaky baseball school.
You know where Old Dominion University is?
Louisiana?
Norfolk, Virginia.
Oh,
I was like he's not in Louisiana,
but I thought you didn't do it.
No, that wasn't as full circle.
So yeah, shout out to my guy, Vinnie P.
A lot of stakes for him lately.
10 homers on the year already matched his career high.
He's also playing a nice first base.
Two outs above average.
That's nice.
The range is there.
He's great.
It's a professional hitter.
He gets really good at bats.
Doesn't swing and miss a lot.
Swing looks locked in right now.
So I'm all on the Vinie Paskintino chain.
Got it.
I think he finished that Guard Dog series with a 7 for 12 in the final three games.
Yeah, and he's been a 790 OPS the last 53 games.
I didn't know he strikes out this.
Yeah.
I did not know where you were going with this because you put steak in the morning on the sheet
and under it was a raw dis Chapman sets the record for the most K's in major history by a left-hand or a lever.
So I thought like you were going to do like, is he eating a bunch of steak in the morning?
He's just striking people out.
So I put a note next to that.
I don't know if you want to read it.
I did see that note.
I didn't know who put any of the.
that in the sheet, but I was glad it was in there.
And man, I'm glad to be talking ball with you.
A little lengthy talking baseball.
We're back. It's July.
Make sure you like, subscribe and all the good stuff.
We'll see you back in the midweek.
We'll see what goes on this whole week.
Fourth of July?
All J.M.
Friday?
All J.M.
Oh, my gosh.
A Robbis Chapman milk video.
Don't call it the milk video.
His grandma?
I think that was his mom.
Mom?
Same as same.
Is that a long episode?
We can't cook it.
