Let's talk ball.
Trev's hype.
Good eye.
Is that my favorite football team?
Jeff's kids on that team?

just talking to a major entertainment network.
You jumped off the call so we can start talking ball.
I just had to tell a couple high up execs.
I've got to step out.
Why don't we keep...
You know, it's time for me to yuck some balls.
Why don't you guys just email me the notes, okay?
Pop.
Isn't that what AI is for?
That's what I'm saying.
AI, don't take the world over.
Take my notes.
Jimmy was in the meeting messing with the settings on the camera.
It was electric.
We got a lot of ball to cover.
Obviously what Kyle McCann is doing for Oakland.
We're not mentioning that series at all.
If you're here for the Angels A series, it's not happening.
Brooms sticks.
God.
Beck Netto.
Brewer's Rangers.
Nickymoniac.
Man, the NL Wildcard is actually like, we have to give some team
snaps.
Yanks tail spin continues.
God, Grimits.
Grimmis is just mocking me
everywhere I turn.
I hate grimace so much.
You know what I need to do?
Yanks are in a funk.
I got to get, been working too much.
I got to get out of here.
And I'm doing that with booking.com.
Booking.
Yeah.
Summer is here.
Actually, I think next weekend,
And next, it's a holiday week next week, right?
Like, Fourth of July.
If you don't have a plan, go to booking.com right now.
Go see where your team is playing.
I think my Cincinnati boys are in town.
So, you know, fingerprints are all over that team while they're playing the pinstripes.
Booking.com, they take care of all of it.
They got hotels, bed and breakfast, vacations, resorts.
Whether you're trying to do Trez family-friendly resort or BBD's not.
family-friendly resorts.
You're going somewhere this summer.
Book it through booking.com,
an official accommodations partner in Major League Baseball.
Do it on the booking.com website or get the app.
Or click the link in the description.
If BBD is going to these naughty hotels, I need to know, Bieber.
Yeah.
You know how to reach me.
Yeah.
Okay.
It's Thursday slash Friday.
It's where we start.
I think we start with the All-Star game, and then we go to the Interleague.
No, it's National League, because, God, San Diego?
Let's talk.
Hot in the streets.
I got all the stock.
They're real.
Maybe?
Hey, NL Central, you better start swimming hard because teams are making it happen.
And Pittsburgh takes a kind of important series from the Cincinnati Reds.
Reds come out in that first game.
Oh, Ellie, India, Spencer Steer, sure, crooked numbers.
But the pirates come back and they win next to the new Senor Pew, Hunter Green.
Mitch Keller outpitches him.
And don't look now, our guy Rowdy Tellez is knocking the ball around the ballpark a little bit.
Pirates infield?
Luis Ortiz, a nice outing for Pittsburgh.
they get potentially an important series win.
It's becoming more important because the St. Louis Cardinals are hot.
They take two out of three from the Atlanta Braves.
They win the bread games.
They beat Spencer Schwellenbach, Lance Lynn, opposing him on the bump.
God.
You guys know I love Alec Burleson and Brendan Donovan.
Haven't seen him in the same room.
and Matthew Liberator
Cardinals fans tagging us
saying give him your standout
he's not
but I'm happy for him
Braves fans
little hiccup but Jared Kelnick
taking over that leadoff spot
and he's been racking him up like Willie
this was a fun one
the Texas Rangers had a little juice
the Milwaukee Brewers
had a tough stretch
uh oh
ain't no thing but a G-3
Gruehers sweep and it was grand two grand slams in the bookends.
Reese Hoskins, welcome back.
He hits the grand slam in game one and there's Jake the Rake Bowers in that final game going
Big Fly.
Trev, this will put some lead in your pencil.
That last game pitching matchup, Avaldi Kichel.
God, fingerprints all over it.
Brewer's bounce back.
I see a trio that is.
inside the park homer.
The San Diego Padres sweep those pesky nationals, literally America's team.
Uh, Kyle Higigashioka, the home run stroka.
He goes, big fly, jerksin pro far with the walkoff.
Um, Dylan sees Higgy two homer game.
Uh, did the Padres light of fire?
They sweep this series.
They're winning ball games.
Check out Trevor Ploofs, NL Wild Card Stannings coming up.
Nats.
Hey, they have Harold Ramirez now.
How nice is that?
Chicago Cubs?
Uh-oh.
They get swept by the San Francisco.
Well, excuse me.
They get pre-swept.
They're playing the final game today.
They've lost three to the San Francisco Giants.
Justin Steele can't get a dump, and it's not his fault.
He's pitching well.
But these pesky San Francisco Giants, Matt Chapman, fingerprint season.
Luis Matos, my fingerprints, I don't think so.
We got a Wilmer Flores walk off.
That ends a five-game loser for the Giants.
And then here they are winning three straight.
Back-to-back bullpen games.
Did the Giants do that every year now, that they just give up on a rotation mid-season?
And we like their starting pitching depth.
Ain't that baseball.
The twins and the snakes are finishing up right now.
Twins just jumped out to a big old lead.
D-backs won the first game.
Joe Ryanbert first Brandon fought.
Told Jess, do not watch that game.
There's a lot of high tea on the mound, along with Citell Marte.
Twins, they roll them in that second game.
Willie Jose, Carlos, Trevor, and Carlos again all have two plus hits.
My goodness.
And it looks like the twins are about to win that series.
And then it looks like this last series, Mets, Yankees, I don't know,
not a lot of fanfare around it.
Don't really don't think we need to cover it.
Oh, Colin He'll start.
They must have did well.
The Power of Grimmis.
Mets win both games.
You might hear about Mark Viantos later.
And you haven't seen me in Francisco Alvarez in the same room.
That's what happened in the Interleague All-Star game.
I mean, you are electric, Bob.
I feel like a Jason kid YouTube
mixtape right now.
You and Francisco Alvarez,
me and Mark Viento's never been seen the same.
Oh, okay.
I'm starting, I'm a look and I'm like in Mets fans.
Let me tell you that right now.
I do have the standings, Bob.
And because it's Thursday slash Friday,
we're starting out West.
Because that's what we do.
Go West, young man.
The Dodgers, 51 and 30.
31, 21, 20 games over 500. Math Pod. Padres, three games over 500. We're doing it. We're going streaking. 44 and 41. They're eight and a half games back, but don't worry. There's the wild card. Arizona, about to get the business from my twins today. They're sitting at 39 and 41, going to be 39 and 42. Please don't drink. Please don't drinks it. And the Giants, 39 and 42. Colorado, 27 and 53. There are only 23 games back in the division. So a lot of games left.
In the east, we're going out into Philadelphia, 53 and 27, I believe that's the best winning
percentage in the big leagues.
Atlanta behind them, eight games back on June 27, 44 and 34.34.
The Mets sitting right at 500, 3rd and 9.
It's not because of grimace.
My gosh.
Washington Nationals, they were flirting.
They were flirting with a good season.
38 and 42 after getting the biz from San Diego and Miami, 28 and 48.
52. In the Central, of course, Milwaukee, six games up on the Cardinals, 48 and 33. I thought it
will be more games. I'm being honest. St. Louis, playing well. Good ball. I saw Ali Marmal
smile in the dugout. I'd never seen that before. Analytics. Unreal. 41 and 38 for the
Cards. Pittsburgh, 39 and 41, Cincinnati, 37, and 43. Weren't all these teams supposed to be good?
Cincinnati 3743 in Chicago
The third worst record in the NL 37 and 44
My goodness
And that wild card's starting to look a little bit different
Everyone used to be within two games
That ain't the case anymore
Atlanta has the first wildcard
Three and a half games up on the Cardinals
And the Padres. They're tied for that second and third wild card
The Mets one and a half games back
Cardinals
Diamondbacks, two and a half games back,
Pittsburgh, two and a half games back,
and then everyone else, three or more,
and those are the standings in the National League.
Pure Cinema, per usual.
Yeah, that the NL wild card's starting to somewhat take form
in the American League wild card that we thought was kind of dead
is starting to show some signs of life,
but we're not talking about that yet.
Because you know what, Treve?
I'll start where Dalty had it on.
the sheet. Saw a little pep on your step. I got emotional the other day. I said, let me know when
the Padres are five games above 500. It's gross. It might be two nights away, Trev. The pesky
nationals that I feel like every time, you know, feel like the Nats are a big, oh, it's Friday.
The Nats just beat someone episode. The Padres bust out the broomsticks. The boys are bopping. My guy,
Jackson Merrill, what he's doing amongst the rookies this year.
Kyle Higigashioca, did San Diego win the Soto trade?
People are asking.
As of the past week, yes.
And jerks in Profar, dude, I know we've done this a lot,
but has literally been the best outfielder in the NL this year.
And more trash gets talked and more trash gets responded to that vibes are high,
in San Diego since they've been since
22?
And why is everyone talking so much crap to ProFar?
They're all coming at him, dude.
He keeps answering the bell.
It was a really testy series out there
in that first game.
Nick Zenzel puts the Natsup 3 in extra innings.
Then you have the Jackson Meryl single
and you have the ProFar walkoff.
Now that started everything because ProFar, you know,
guess what?
Jake, he was happy he walked the game off.
Did you know that?
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
And he was in his home stadium, so he said, this is my house.
They walked a rise in front of him.
And he came up big.
He was a little happy about that.
Crazy, right?
What's he getting paid this year?
Can't believe ProFar was so happy about winning a baseball game when the guy in front of
he gets walked.
Crazy stuff.
You can never see that again.
The next day, Kiebert Ruiz wants to come up and put his hands on him.
And what was he saying to him right there?
There's no reason for any of that.
We have the benches clearing.
both sides get warm.
Mackenzie Gore hits him on the first pitch.
I don't think it was intentional,
but you got to toss the guy after he warned both sides
and he hits him on the first pitch.
Whatever, it all goes down.
Mani Machado takes the next pitch,
hits a home run.
I think ProFar ended up hitting a Grand Slam in game two.
And then you're right.
It was the Yashioca game and game three
to get the sweep two homers.
The Grand Slam went on top of that building in left field.
He had six runs driven in.
it was all San Diego.
And like you just,
I mean, the biggest thing was,
why are we firing this San Diego team?
Why are you mad that ProFar was celebrating on his home field
after hitting a walkoff hit?
Davey Martinez had some pretty bad quotes after it.
I kind of blew him up on baseball today.
But San Diego's hot, man, and they're looking good.
Treve, I think the best thing for San Diego is them and the Cardinals
have a little bit of the good sauce right now.
It's a long season.
Like you've recently talked about your bouts with Yankee fans
because they are in a death spiral
while still having a fantastic record,
but it's how baseball works.
Is that whether it's injuries or slumps,
like baseball comes and goes by the day,
Luis Campasano goes down.
The young catcher, like big prospect.
He's shown moments.
He's out right now.
And Higgie is going off.
That's a good feeling.
Zander Bogart's is out for them right now.
Tatis is out for them right now.
And they are still able to put together a very strong lineup
between ProFar, Kim, Croninworth, Machado,
Donnie Barrels has been hitting for them.
Donovan Solano.
All he does is hit.
He can't get a free agent contract.
But when he does get on your team, he will hit for you.
That, yeah, I mean, the vibes are higher in San Diego than
they've been in a little bit and it's also
look at, I mean, look at the rotation.
Everything I just said,
Darvish and Musgrove are on the aisle right now.
And Cease King and Waldron are going to church.
So like, San Diego, you believe in what's happening right now
and you've got room to grow.
You've got reinforcements coming back.
You know they're going to be active at the trade deadline as well.
So, I mean, things are on the up and up in San Diego.
That is for sure, my guy.
Hey, Matt, I know you're American.
Christine, might not be a bad year to sell.
That's all I'm saying.
Do you remember I asked you?
Like, why is C.J. Abrams the worst rated shortstop?
People came at me, big time.
Have you watched him play?
Yeah, I've watched him play.
Right.
And then they brought receipts.
They sent me all these videos on my Twitter.
You were on their side.
No, they're saying no, he's not.
Right.
He actually is a bad shortstop.
That's what they were telling me.
Okay.
The way you phrased that was a little weird because I was YouTube comments are, it's the Wild West.
It's, you have to go in there, like hand on your holster ready to go.
And it's like reading Yelp reviews.
You have to understand if you read the one-star Yelp review that says,
there was two flies in my, so we waited 75 minutes for my kid's party table.
It's like, okay, you had a bad day.
This might not be the best review of the restaurant.
YouTube comments he kind of have to do that
the YouTube comments on
CJ Abrams were kind of
like yeah CJ's okay
he has tough moments and it's like
ooh
okay so the defense has some question marks
so from the videos that I got sent
again that's kind of like cherry picking
and they're just showing me his bad plays
it seems like he puts himself
in a bad position like with his footwork
and throwing he doesn't have a strong enough arm
to really make up for it so he gets caught
like you know deep in the hole or
deep behind second base
and just he's not able to make the throw.
So I think he gets
his range
he gets docked for his range
because of that because he puts himself
in tough positions where he can't finish the play.
He might get to the ball, but he can't finish the play.
Your range gets cut down. That's how the outs above average is so low.
What I would recommend to him
and Nats fans, instead of just telling him he stinks,
let's try to figure some things out. How about that?
Let's be positive here. You got to play in.
Okay.
Got to play in.
Because then you at least make some of those plays.
If you continue to play back, you're never going to have a chance.
You might cut off a little bit of your range playing in,
but at least you'll be able to make the throw.
Right.
I don't know.
Or maybe they move in the second base.
A lot of people said that too.
It's the reason they call him Coach Trev.
He's still young.
He's still young, too.
So we might have some room for growth there.
Padres, feeling a lot more real.
And that's good news.
I guess screw it.
The other team that I wanted to put in the bucket
and has made the NL feel a lot more less sad
than seeing an under 500 team in the playoffs
and questioning everything about the sport, really.
The St. Louis Dirty Birds,
they beat the Atlanta Braves.
Why it's also important,
I mean, technically they're three and a half games back of Atlanta
for the top wild card sports,
spot.
Still feels odd, especially if you look at run differential.
St. Louis is still not in a good place, which again, half glass full, half glass empty.
But they take two games from the Braves, who the Braves had been trending upwards.
This St. Louis team, man, I don't, I mean some parallels to San Diego, right?
Like, I guess they had a little bit, you know, St. Louis was a well-run franchise.
guys, if you remember the first expanded wild card,
Helsley comes in, they got a lead in the knife.
Bingo Bongo, it ends and it felt like it ended St. Louis for over a year.
And if they kick it to that Ryan Halsley guy in the back end,
that's a really good formula too right now.
So St. Louis firmly in the National League playoffs.
Bees, before I start talking,
If you could find the highlight, it's in game three, it's Brendan Donovan singling in Paul Goldschmidt.
And then just let me know when you have it and I want to play it for everybody because it was one of the more hilarious highlights I've seen in a while.
Yes, but look, great for the Cardinals again.
I saw Olly Marmall smiling.
That's like seeing an albino rhino, this is rare people.
So things are good out there in St. Louis.
They get Wilson Contreras back in the lineup for game one.
an RBI single.
You're right about the back end of the bullpen.
They've been doing their job, which is nice.
And we're just, I think more than anything,
we're just seeing the offense kind of go.
And, you know, analytics,
you've got to score some runs to win games.
So, you know, Berluson gave them the early lead
with the RBI double in the third game.
And then if you have that video,
I love to show it to people.
I'm in pursuit.
It is.
Brandon Donovan hits a single
It's like a
He fists it, you know
Through the six hole
So it's kind of like a slow hit ball
But then you see Paul Goldschmidt
Running around third base
And it looks like it hurts
Yeah
He's running very slowly
And then I believe it was Adam Duval
Out in left field
And it might be the worst throw I've ever seen
Oh no
We gotta see the high that I'm telling you
It's so bad that it's electric
Well, BPD's on highlight duty.
Something for St. Louis that also has to feel a little good.
Matthew Liberator, I mentioned six innings clean.
He was the piece they got back for Randy of Rosarana.
There's been a lot of St. Louis Cardinals' trade jokes going around.
You know, they've got a lot of pieces on the league that it was like,
hey, they were a St. Louis Cardinal, and now they're not.
And that bullpen.
I mean, our guy, Jojo Romero.
he's he's another one you can put in that bucket he was traded for enbundo sosa he's helped lock up the
back end they made the Andrew Kittridge trade before the season so uh good on st louis seeing some
of these okay donnie's about to deliver on the youtube screen just watch this people please all right
here's the pitch fisted through the hole oh no oh no what did we got going on here
I mean, that might be a case of double old.
Like maybe Adam Duvall banged his shoulder sliding into third or something because that's
Like if we just show this as somebody's never seen baseball before, they'd be like that is
That's a three-phleticism.
That's a three-hopper from shortstop.
Yeah, I don't love that.
Look it.
Just he, you know, obviously I started grinning when you said he fisted that ball.
But he sure did.
He sure did fist it right there.
offense to Goldie, who I think is one of my favorite hitters I've ever seen play the game.
He's out here grinding, and they just took down the Braves.
And I did this with every team last episode, and I think it ended up being almost a bad segment.
But like, all of these teams are still in the same.
Like, we've got four elite teams.
We've got five awful teams.
And then everyone else is kind of the same.
Yes.
So for the St. Louis Cardinals to have one of those series pop up with the Atlanta Braves,
win that, that means something.
And there's actual, you know, the grimace Mets,
who maybe they never slow down,
but they're a game and a half back.
D-backs might be about to go to three games back,
facing those hot, hot, hot twins.
And then you're looking at Pittsburgh.
Like, you're looking at under 500 teams.
And now in the wild card,
we've got two teams three games above 500.
Like, okay.
This is good.
I was just trying to butternife a bunch of stats for the Cardinals' offense,
and it is just not happening.
Yeah.
I'm not finding what I need to find to support my argument.
Again, it's either glass half full.
They've got more coming.
Because I think my guy, Alex Burleson,
has been one of the best players in baseball the last week.
Let's see if we see him down the sheet.
And then Braves, you're okay.
Zach Short, two RBI single.
So huge for the compound
Might be some big compound news coming
Little teaser
Me and Ian Haptext in yesterday
Not a big deal
Okay
Just normal
Kelnick in that leadoff spot
Watch out for that
He's been going ham
Straight upgrade from Bologna
Let's see
17 for 47
That's 362
Okay
Yeah
I just thought you've done that to me
I don't give you round numbers
Dude don't give me something like that
That was ridiculous.
You said 17 for 34, I would know what that is.
I still don't.
500.
Let's go.
I hit this quick on the way through.
Brew crew, Texas.
Another thing that I'm enjoying in this part of the season right now,
Houston Astros, back at the party,
Tampa Bay Rays, back at the party, Mets, back at the party.
Like, this is, you know, this stretch of the season is oddly important.
as I mentioned with all those teams in the middle area,
that if you get it now, you're covered to the trade deadline.
And I thought Texas was one of those teams that were getting back in the dance.
W-4, getting some guys healthy, some more guys on the way.
Unfortunately, they ran into the buzzsaw that is the Milwaukee Brewers.
And, you know, you can't take two grand slams off the board.
But I wonder, Texas fans, what are you feeling?
Did you, besides two grand slams,
I think you won the bread games of this series,
instead you got broomsticked.
That's, I mean, so often in these series,
it comes down to, you know,
who gets the big hit, who has the big at bat there.
In game one, it was Hoskins.
I was in the six, first pitch, turns on it.
And, and, I mean, that's it.
Those are ball games.
They put away ball games, and you can do that.
Yelly, we kind of glossed over it a little bit here.
He's got, I believe, what is the 200 stolen bases, 200 homer club?
Oh.
That is a rare, rare thing.
And I think we need to get some snaps.
I don't think he's one of our awards or standout.
If I looked at the sheet correctly, 200, 200 stolen base.
He's got 300 doubles, 200 homers.
That's kind of like rarefied error.
So snaps to Yelly, he's been doing it.
Yeah, if you mentioned Kikell coming in, making a spot start, I'm assuming.
didn't look great there.
He gives up the early lead,
and then Trio with the inside the Parker,
ties the game.
And then Monasterio, he won it in the tent there
with the walk-off.
And Pat Murphy had some really nice things to say about him.
The brewers are all about timely hitting.
And getting guys on, getting them in,
they do it with the best of them.
Same thing happened this series.
And Texas' offense has stalled
and has not looked like it should.
Yeah, I feel like the Brewers are very good
it that take advantage of,
Tao,
you know,
that inside the park home run,
a game that goes in extra innings,
if the center fielder just
keeps that in front of them with the body,
what are we talking about in this game?
We'll never know.
Another part of that game,
the Brewers Bullpen,
your guy, Jacob Junis,
Hudson, BPD's,
Pye amps, McGill, and Kainig,
six shutout.
Canning's been nasty for them.
It's been disgusting.
It feels like you're going to turn on the all.
Star game and say, wait, what?
They, yeah, God, Jonah Heim ties it with the home or Nate Lowe brings them back into that
game and it's just, it's not enough. Rangers have lost 16 of 21 on the road.
Yo.
And I think the Brewers are silly at home.
I think they're like 21 and 5 in their last quick math.
That would be 26 games at home.
home.
So yeah.
In a time of the year when we're, you know, in the AL,
we might talk about Houston creeping back up.
St. Louis has been playing a decent brand of baseball that,
let's say the Texas Rangers did win two of these games.
We would be saying Milwaukee.
Like their division lead would be down in the fours.
You'd be like, okay, we might have a race in the Central.
I still don't believe in that.
25 and 12 for Milwaukee at home
They just keep doing it
They're just a well-run organization
Speaking of the opposite
Do you have your Cubs funeral speech ready to go
I mean we can
I'm not going to say that stuff
But it looks pretty grim out there
In Chicago we mentioned third worst record in the NL
The first game they were going to lose
No matter what
it was
all the Giants
were 24
for Willie Mays
end up
they're down
for nothing
Chabman hits the
Homer
kind of gets them back
in the game
and then
they had the
bases loaded
walk off
walk
which is
kind of cool
to see
it kind of
ran away
with game
two
Chapman again
in the thick of
things
he had two
RBIs
in the eighth
to make it
or
to make it
51
um
Suzuki
tied the game
in the fifth
of the third
and then
Motos answered
right away
4-3 in the 5th
and then they go on to win that game
Bullpen shuts them down.
I mean,
they're playing another one today.
Right.
If they get swept today,
I mean,
we can start talking like
one foot in the grave,
one foot on a banana peel
type situation.
Third worst team in the NL,
they're five games back of the wild card
with a lot of bodies in front of them.
It's go time
and it's been rough for a while
they got hot to a good start.
And yeah, I'm a naturally slightly annoying person.
I've come to grips with that.
I mentioned I talked to Ian Hap yesterday.
Whenever I talked to Ian Hap on the phone,
I end the phone call with, hey, hit a homer for me.
And it sounded like he didn't love it.
It sounded like a guy that the team's been in a funk.
Hey, dude, I'm trying to do my best.
Please don't say that to me.
and new name alert in Major League Baseball.
Hayden Bird's song.
Like that?
Made his MLB debut for Los Huidore Hantes.
Three and 13, the Cubs are in their last 16 road games.
Is that good?
Giants bullpen has been asked to do a lot as of late.
I mean, they're down to like two starting pitchers,
and they keep answering the bell.
Every year.
I feel like he got to mention that for sure.
weren't we talking about their starting pitching depth
and all of a sudden we're not.
We're talking about the lack of depth.
Blake Snell has got some comments going down.
Triple A, he had like a setback down there.
It'll be interesting to see how that plays out for the Giants as well,
what they want to do.
Where are they at in the standings?
They're down.
They're not too far ahead of the Cubs.
They are three games out of the Wild Card.
So two games ahead of the Cubs.
Man.
They, uh, Alex, you can make a pretty nice rotation.
Robbie Ray, or Blake Snell, Robbie Ray, Alex Cobb, Kyle Harrison,
and then if you want Tristan Beck or Keaton win,
that's a pretty serious IL for the Giants.
Yeah, not a lot of numbers pop off that team page,
but maybe it's a second half in the Bay Area.
Every time I open Fangraphs, my computer freezes.
which I don't know.
A lot of information on that site.
Might have to email them.
What else do you have in the NL, Trev?
I mean, Pittsburgh Sinty mattered a lot.
We got some puke on the mound.
Other than that, I'm kind of okay.
Brian Reynolds needs to be talked about.
Reynolds is doing his thing.
He's got 23-game hit streak.
Ellie was on full display that first game game.
of that series. He hits the ball up the middle off
of Gonzalez's gloves. Like a ground
ball up the middle
off the glove.
Center fielder kind of runs in,
I believe it was Swinsky, and
just not fast enough.
Or Ellie's too fast. He gets a double
on a ground ball up the middle. It's a joke,
dude. And then, later in the game,
hits a homer off the boat.
Yeah. In center field. Like, it's insane
to watch that guy play baseball. Like, he does
things that nobody else can really do, Jake.
it's it's starting to feel like and hey reds are excited for a second half noel v martay just got activated so
let's see what they can tap into but they've got to tap into it quickly but yeah like you know the highlights
from this series you mentioned ellie in that first game and hunter green with a first inning puke which
i didn't love that didn't he puked and then gave a homer right away to yeah didn't didn't love that
uh putting him in my daily fantasy lineup
Also, if you start to puke and you're like wiping your face off, like, you probably don't want to like touch the ball.
And nobody wants to touch you.
It's got to be a bad feeling.
Bad feeling.
Hey, did anyone see that?
Oh, yeah, I'm the pitcher on the mount.
So I kind of hate that for our guy there.
Ryan Reynolds, Trev, longest hit streak since Kenny Lofton on the Pirates, didn't it?
Didn't it have that?
I added him on in Fuego.
We'll talk about him afterwards.
He goes off in the second game.
And then game three, it was all our favorites, man.
Cutch, Homer, Routing, Homer.
And Pirates kind of run away with that.
This guy Luis Ortiz, by the way, he's been like the Bolt guy.
They'll have, and I don't know the guy's name.
It's a weird name.
Like, it's not Molchinsky, but it's Majinsky, I think.
Yeah.
He opens, and then Luis Ortiz will come in.
Luis Ortiz is filthy, dude.
Like, he's got nasty stuff.
So just chalk that up to another nasty starting pitcher for,
the pirates
and they need to add some offense
man I mean they're
apparently they're doing it
but a nice series win for them
we can go quick
in Minnesota and Arizona
you're right
Brandon Fott and Joe Ryan
like talking together
they would talk to each other
but they wouldn't listen to a word
the other one set
like Joe Ryan would be talking
Brandon Fott would be like
thinking about Louisville or something
and would pay no attention
and then he would say some,
and Joe Ryan would not pay any attention to what he said,
and we'd just go back and forth.
They'd have a conversation,
but they have no idea what each other said.
They'd like each other.
Yeah, I think they'd get along.
They might have two separate conversations,
but they'd be like, yeah, I like that guy.
Tell Marte in the first game, he was the answer.
I mean, he had a home run against Ryan in the first inning,
I believe it was.
Yeah, it was the first inning.
And then he had an infield hit,
just beat out like a chopper to second base.
That was a deciding.
running that game. So little power, little speed. He'll be in the All-Star game.
Twins gave him the business last night. They're giving them the business right now.
The offense is kind of heat up. Royce Lewis, though, says he doesn't slump.
Mumping a little bit. I don't, I don't slump either. Yeah, I don't know. That Royce Lewis quote
might come back to get him, Treff. What he meant was, I don't think about it like that.
Right, right. He's still a kid, man. We just brought this guy, David Festa. He's 6-6. He's nasty. Look out.
Is he related to Matthew Festa?
No, no.
Okay.
I'll ask him.
He's from New Jersey.
Okay.
I could research it real quick.
Mitch Keller, I know we just left this,
but 47 straight starts of five innings or more,
that's...
Like that.
That's dragging...
Yes.
That's dragging something on the mound.
Yes, it is.
And yeah, you're right.
We don't have to talk about the Yankees,
so we can probably go to...
Here's what I'll say.
Yankees are spiling right now.
It's baseball.
The lineup depth is very scary,
and I know there's going to be a day that changes,
but it doesn't feel like it's going to happen soon.
On the opposite side, my analytics binder,
the Mets have hitters at every spot right now.
Like, they're scoring double digits.
Last 30 days, they have an 879 team OPS.
It leads all of the big leagues by 30 points, 35 points.
The next closest team is the Baltimore Orioles,
and then my Minnesota Twins.
Whoops.
hitting 293, 364, 515 over the last 30 days, bro.
Nimmo's going nuts. Alvarez can't get out right now.
It scored the most runs in the big leagues in the last 30 days.
This is how you win ball games.
And you're doing it.
And you might be hearing more about Mark Vientos in a little bit.
And I wonder if Marky Mark...
Oh my gosh.
What's that?
Buckson just went way up top.
I like that.
I wonder if I'll be seeing Mark Vientos
At Luke Combs, it's official, I'll be in the building
Listening to Luke Combs
I want to say it's like July 19, 20th, something like that
Come back from the All-Star game
And I'll be listening to some songs from his new album
12 tracks recorded entirely live
And I'll be honest with you
My Luke Combs stuff that I'm a fan of, mostly live at this point.
So get in there.
It features Combs' most personal songwriting to date, reflecting on his own experiences.
Being a dad, Trev, and a unique bond between parents and their children.
A quick anecdote, I was standing near the height chart in our office the other day,
and I saw Teddy Plouf's height mark on there, and I was like, wow, how far away is he currently from that?
and how close is he to me?
It's enough about me.
Go check out Luke Holmes album,
Fathers and Sons,
wherever you listen to your music.
There's a link in the description.
And yeah, I'm pretty hype.
I'm going to be seeing the big man live,
so that's going to be sick.
Live music is the best,
especially if you have a guy that can actually perform live like Luke can.
So I'm stoked on that.
I've got, this is a dumb, quick anecdote.
I had a friend who lived in your,
New York City and they're like a city person.
Like they love the city.
Like they feed off the energy of it.
And one night, I had a free night and I was like, I need to mix it up a little bit,
but I think there was like a Yankee game I wanted to watch on.
So I hit them up and I was like, hey, what's a good spot in the city where, you know,
there's some TVs with sports on, but I could listen to some live music.
Like I was in that mood.
And they were like, those are the two things I don't like at a bar.
Sports on the TV and live music.
Is there a place that shows has a TV and does live music?
That's kind of...
I mean, yes.
Yes.
Like, you just don't have the audio on.
Maybe that's our new bar.
Hit up Matt Stafford.
We'll loop in pro far because he needs to be making more money off the field because...
What would our bar be called?
Brofar and pro far.
No.
We'll work on it.
No work on it.
You ever have the owning a bar dream?
No.
Yeah.
Everyone says it's a lot of work.
That would be very bad for me to own a bar.
It's a lot of work and it fails a lot.
And I'd be drinking all the time.
Can't be doing that?
You're right.
If you could lock me into it, not failing sounds fun.
Yeah, it feels like there'd be good nights and bad nights.
Speaking of, the Baltimore Orioles, they're incredible.
How good have they been?
They're going to overtake the Yankees.
Here come Chris Rose's Cleveland Guard Dogs.
Tanner is a vibe.
He shoves in that first game while Jose Ramirez does his dance.
Ties Manny Ramirez for third all time in Guardian homers.
Jesus.
The next game, I mean, this looked like some ALDS baseball.
10-8 final
The Guardians kept putting up runs
And the Orioles were like,
We can do this too
But they come up a couple runs short
Bone-naler triple mix in there
Orioles, they salvage it in the last day
Cedric Mullins Homer
Can that get him going?
He's kind of been a missing piece for them
Oh yeah, and Gunner Henderson
Treff
This guy's doing different stuff
Our guy John Can See Noel
Gets the call
homers in his first game. Really cool video of his AAA teammates watching him go big fly.
If there's a feeling, I know that one.
Phillies, they take two out of three from the Detroit Tigers. Trev, you mentioned in this one,
your highlight of the year of the Matt Veerling triple play. Back to the pitcher.
Not enough people talking about that. Instead, we're talking about Bryce Harper,
who I might be talking about later in the episode. He has a big day with Noel on the bump.
Terrick Scoobo, man.
Sexy Syung pick coming into the year.
He is trending that way.
But the Phillies get it done on that last day.
Brandon Marsh, welcome back.
Four-hit day at the office.
Four RBI day at the office.
Cheese and biscuits.
The Tampa Bay race.
Hello, 500.
Goodbye, 500.
As they win the first two against the Seattle Mariners,
Yankee fans don't look at what bad.
Ben Roortvets doing this year.
And I mentioned this.
We talked about this in the midweek.
The names are changing.
Taylor Walls is back for them.
Yandi Diaz with a two-hit day follows that up with a homer.
Rays win the first two.
George Kirby and the boys get it done on the last day.
Cal Rally homers.
Ray's back in the mix.
And Mariners, I don't know.
That schincter's getting a little...
Red Sox.
They played two with the Blue Jays.
split them. That third game gets rained out.
Oh, Bassett versus Halk.
Those are kind of our guy guys in that first one.
Red Sox outlasts him.
An All-Star, Jaron,
how can you not have him on the team?
He gets the walk-off and another three-hit day for him.
In that second game,
watch out for George Springer.
Been one of the worst hitters in baseball this year,
ran into a couple.
Let's see if that does anything for him.
They split to.
Dodger sweep the White Sox.
Really no surprise there.
Garrett Crochet doesn't give up runs anymore.
That could be an interesting piece for your baseball team coming up.
Neither did James Paxton.
Good on him.
When Miggie Row hits, they win.
Easy formula.
Gavin Stone, nine innings shut piece.
Might be more on him in a little bit.
White Sox fans fans.
how we don. Benny went yard. Awesome.
A's Angels, you said we're not talking about this? The Halo sweep.
Renhifo's on every team's trade deadline list. Taylor Ward goes yard. Moniac.
This is tough. This is tough. Good for my angels trying to get that over 63 wins that we talked about.
Kansas City Royals take down the king slang Miami Marlins as they win the big games.
a Cole Riggins.
Cole Riggins goes six innings, one earn run.
Brady Singer says,
I check race, 7.1, one earn run.
Oh, that first game, this is for you, Trev.
Big Sal, Vinny Pass Quintino, and Hunter Renfro.
Go deep fly.
Freddie for me, I'm familiar with your game,
but I want to be more familiar with your game.
It seems like you're always contributing.
And speaking of the Houston Astros,
They take both games against the Rockies.
They get to 500 Spencer at a gate.
Seven shutpiece and the boys are bopping in Houston.
And that's what happened in the American League.
It is a treat to listen and watch you work.
I have the standings.
Do you want them?
Need them.
Okay.
We're staying out west here in the American League.
Seattle.
You mentioned some B-hole with Seattle.
I don't know if they're feeling that yet.
46 and 37 for them.
You can't go into the trough
and expect just to play regular
baseball. It ain't going to happen there.
There are four and a half games up on
those Houston Astros who are 40 and 40.
The Texas Rangers, 37 and 43.
The Angels 33 and 46 in Oakland,
29 and 54.
We'll head out east.
Go west young man.
Head east, you
young boy. I don't know.
52 and 30, your Yanks.
one game up on the Baltimore Orioles who are 50 and 30
and the Red Sox keep coming.
43 and 37.
Tampa Bay Reyes.
They're coming at 40 and 41.
And then Toronto, 36 and 43.
They're 14 and a half games back in the central.
Cleveland, 51 and 27, man.
We're going to hear a lot about them later in the episode.
My twins, 44 and 36, about to be 45 and 36.
They're up 11 to 1 right now.
Kansas City, 44 and 38, Detroit, 36.
and 43. What are they going to do?
What are they going to do?
Jack Flay already sitting there.
They're going to trade him. Okay.
And the White Sox, 21 and 60.
There are only 40 games under 500 people.
Not a big deal.
In the wild card. Minnesota
has a second one. Baltimore, obviously,
continues with that first wild card.
Minnesota is sitting there in the second
wild card. There's a tie with a third
wild card between Boston and Kansas
City and then right behind them.
Yeah. Houston. Scary.
Tampa, scary.
And then it gets a little less scary.
Texas, six games back, Detroit's six games back.
And those are the standings in the American League.
Trev, those wild card standings.
Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros.
A couple teams that we always expect in the mix.
Are back in the mix.
W7 next to Houston.
And the socks, they just don't slow down.
Artwork.
Let's start out with the best baseball real quick
because it's Guardians Orioles.
I said DS.
I mean, this could be the CS.
These are two young, talented teams that my problem with the Guardians
in the past was that lineup wasn't relentless.
It's getting more relentless every day.
And like you've talked about a lot this year,
having that bullpen at the end of the games,
just makes them more and more daunting that this was a big series for both of these teams.
In Cleveland, they end up winning the first two games.
Jose Ramirez's numbers are on the season are back to being where Jose...
I'm going to talk a lot about Cleveland later in the episode.
I think we can kind of skip over the series.
They take two out of three.
You're right.
Jose Ramirez is a nut job.
He's got two runs driven in the first game.
Then the three-runs shot.
top of the fourth, which was interesting because there was an open base there in two
outs.
Then the pitching a Jose, he ends up hitting the homer.
It was eight to four after that.
I don't know if that's, they went like a one-oh inside fastball.
Like, I just don't think that was a smart play there.
Hindsight is obviously 2020, but this is Jose Ramirez, who's, I believe, has, if a notes
are correct, where is it?
72 runs driven in
on the year
it's June 27th people
it's absolutely crazy man
Gunner Henderson is a G there's some notes on him
that Dalton put I guess I'll read those off
and give the Orioles a little bit of shine here
he's on pace for 52 homers
32 doubles 8 triples 140 runs 110 runs driven in
only Alex Rodriguez
has 50 plus homers while playing 50%
or more games at
shortstop and Gunner Henderson is on pace for 11.8b war this season. The record for a shortstop
is 11.5 set by Honus Wagner in 1908. So Gunner Henderson is doing some very, very special things.
And if you watch him play, you know, he's just a dog, man. He's insane. But yes, more on the
Guardians later, plenty, plenty more. Jose Ramirez is since 2017, a 1,4.
40 OPS Plus.
Doesn't really miss any games.
You, you know, you were giving your boy Yelly a little Hawk Tua for his 200-200-200 club.
Jose Ramirez has been in that club.
Yeah.
And every full season since 2017, he's finished.
What's a Hawk Tua?
Every full season since 2017, he's finished top 10 in the MVP voting.
He's legit, man.
Clockwork, bro.
It's crazy.
Clockwork.
Trust me.
Cleveland, you're going to get your shine.
I got a lot of numbers to read at you.
Has Chris Rose hit you with the ClickBay, ALMVP, Gunner, Judge?
No.
When you get a chance, because I know this isn't really your bag either way.
Look at those numbers side by side.
Oh, Gunner.
Yeah, I mean, they're insane.
They're...
That boy, nice.
Absolute freak shows both ways.
Let's see.
What else in the American League?
I guess let's just do Houston as a topic.
I mean, this Rocky series, you know,
I don't think America was dialed in,
but they are one of the top stories of the American League right now,
whether it's three out of the wild card,
whether it's getting to 500 before halfway through the season,
or whether you like the four and a half back of Seattle.
They're coming.
And a big reason, you know,
they have a lot of people, a lot of pitchers on the injured list.
Hunter Brown was horrible at the beginning of the year.
But then I don't know when it was.
I guess the twins went into Houston.
I talked to Ryan Jeffers afterwards.
He's like, dude, that Hunter Brown dude is nasty.
And he hadn't had good numbers so far in the year.
But then he, it's last like five or six starts have been great.
Spencer Erigetti, given them this.
That's by far his best start of his career.
Seventing's pitch, nowhere runs 10Ks.
If he can find something, lengthen the staff out a little bit, it'd be great.
they're going to get some reinforcements,
but I expect them to...
Like, in just within, what, two, three weeks,
they totally changed how people perceive them?
Like, how can you let go of Bregman now?
How can you trade Bregman now? You can't.
Can't.
Dana Brown, their new GM, he had some quote saying,
we want to add, but we're not going to add anybody, like,
as a rental.
He goes, we want years of control.
That's how we're going to operate here.
So you can kind of now say,
okay, well, like, who are these guys are going to go get?
You know, do they have enough to go fire
and get a crochet
I mentioned this on baseball today early.
Could they say, hey, Jack, Flaherty,
we'll bring you in if you pick up the team option.
Maybe we'll throw some extension on top of it.
Like, you know, there are things like that that could happen.
I'd be interested in to see where they go for their upgrades.
They don't need a ton.
They just need to like play to their skill level, essentially.
I could see pitching depth for sure,
possibly just like an innings eater type of guy.
But they're coming, man.
Can I ask you to not bring up Jack Flaherty to Houston again?
Why not? He's going somewhere, man.
Because that fits too well.
Although, God, I feel like he's always wanted the pinstripes.
Big one this weekend, Met's Astros.
That's going to be fun.
That's going to be a lot of fun.
Everybody hitting in that series.
Of the remaining series, I think the one that has the most sauce to it,
Seattle and Tampa.
You mentioned going to the trough, and that's, you know,
that's always a daunting task.
At one point, the raise had won seven of their last nine.
They're winning a lot late in the game,
which you wonder, I don't know, is that luck,
is that belief, is that positioning yourself right?
Is that the bullpen kicking into gear for them?
You know, they get to Munoz.
He technically blows the save.
and Seattle, excuse me,
a little bit of a road trip from hell for them
that they're happy that that'll be winding down.
I guess I'd love to get more of your thoughts on the raise
because I've kind of been talking myself into it
just because I keep saying that like the names are different,
like the bodies have literally changed in a way.
And I guess a little bit,
we talked a lot about Houston and now Seattle,
they haven't been reeled in, but four and a half from where we were.
That feels a lot different.
Yeah, I mean, I could see them, you know, they like where they're at.
Clearly offensively, they still need help.
I mean, that's like, you know, how many times we have to say that.
But as far as the raise, I think it's, again, just like Houston,
it's as simple as just having some of your guys that should be better players,
start playing better.
Like Yandi Diaz, they need him to go at the top of the order.
So what does he do?
In that first game, he gives in the league, it's kind of like a weird hop.
Mitch Garver puts Seattle up, 3-1 in the 7th.
And then Yondi hits this weird, in-between hopper, bad hop in the 8th to answer back.
So he takes that in, they win that game.
Then in the second game, first pitch off Luis Castillo, table setter, tone-setter.
Yondi, if he's that guy for the raise, I think you can kind of build off that momentum.
And the second game, tie France.
He tied it in the fifth.
Then your guys are you talking about.
Isaac Paredes and Ben Roetvett, they put the game at a reach for them.
And then the third game, you know, Seattle does their thing.
Cal Raleigh, right in the thick of things, man.
Three run homer in the six.
Gives an elite three to one.
Then our guy, J.P. Crawford kind of opened it up there with a two-out and two-run single.
Yeah, I mean, again, I think for a lot of these teams,
it's just like if you started out poorly, some of your guys weren't doing it offensively.
now you start, you know, regressing back to the mean,
getting back to the guy you are,
and you start to go on these runs.
I think Tampa's kind of, we're seeing that.
We need a little bit more of that out of some of their guys.
We need Randy to keep going.
We need to be loud to kind of, you know,
go a little bit more than he is,
733 OPS for him right now.
Yandi's going nuts.
I don't know how much I believe in the race.
I'll be honest with it.
I understand all of it,
because as much as I just said some of their good stats about
close games in being late. I think they're also the third worst team at blowing leads.
And I think it's like them in the white socks.
Where did I just have that staff?
22nd loss of the season after holding a lead. That's third in the majors
behind the White Sox and the Rangers.
Yandi Diaz's fun fact. And baseball people like hearing good baseball names.
19 game hit streak
Tying the Ray's record by
Jason Bartlett
Oh
Jason Bartlett
Short stuff Jason Bartlett
Your fingerprints are everywhere
Let me just get up one thing real quick
Yeah
Mariners Road record
I'm 19 and 25
Only division leader
With a losing record on the road
something.
Typically, our guy,
Julio,
has started to get it going
in the month of June.
So far, though,
it just has not been the case.
216, 289 OBP,
330 slug for the 618 OPS.
We got to figure something out here, coach.
This guy's on a massive deal.
A massive deal.
Clearly he has all the potential,
all the skill in the world to do it,
but you got to go, man.
It's bizarre,
because I expect him to
and he's done this.
God.
It's weird.
It's really weird.
Like, yeah, I don't,
I don't know.
I know all JM we dive into some of this stuff,
but like,
88 OPS Plus.
We talked about it in the episode
about the over-under,
like them wanted to cut down strikeouts.
It's all we heard
and they still lead the big leagues
in strikeout percentage.
So is that like,
and didn't they just,
They fire their hitting coach very early on in the year
or their offensive coordinator, I think he was called.
I don't know, man.
Should we go up there?
They won that series and we were like, hell yeah.
Fire your hitting coach, score some runs.
We might have to talk to the fellas.
I don't know what to tell you.
And if people think we're being dramatic or weird,
these are Julio's OPS by month in his career.
Career, April, 642, May 768, June 723, July 8, 850, August 991, and September, October, 934.
So when you have, when Julio hits at an 850 OPS, he is an all-star baseball player.
when Julio hits in in the nines,
he's like a top five baseball player.
So, hey, maybe that's coming for Seattle,
but there's also another side of this.
Like, we can't do this every year.
He's young.
He's young.
Seattle Mariners have 838 strikeouts.
The next closest team has 802.
That's the A's.
And then drops all the way down to 760.
That's the Boston.
Red Sox.
their OPS is 26th in all of baseball 668.
They're only above the White Sox, the Marlins, the Pirates, and the A's.
I don't get it because I look at the names and I'm like, okay, like,
this is the middle of the road offense, right?
And they got the pitching, so it makes sense.
But they just can't perform like a middle of the road offense.
They're performing like a bottom tier offense, basically.
Similar story.
Add Vlad. Why not?
We'll see, man. They gotta do something, man.
You have that pitching, we always say.
Don't be the Marlins. You have pitching. Go do it.
Make moves.
Don't be the Marlins.
I have some Philly stuff I want to talk about later.
So if you have anything there, cook, but otherwise I'm pretty good in the A.L.
Good to see Marshback, like you mentioned.
He kind of took the game over in that last one.
he had the Opoh Homer
shot back up the middle for four runs
driven in. In the second game, Scoobel was just
unhittable. He's nasty.
It's basically, it's him and Tanner Howick, man.
And I guess Seth Lugo, you put those three guys
and those are the top three pitchers in the American League.
Crazy.
Nuts.
I think Scoobel, everyone thought that would be the case
or at least up there, but don't forget Corbyn Burns as well.
Yeah.
He'll be pissed if I don't mention him.
And then what else we got?
Dodgers.
Great job.
Snaps for the Dodgers.
Swept Chicago.
Yeah.
I'll round that out in a minute.
Let's get to standout performances.
Dand out performances.
Are we already here?
Okay.
Standout performances are brought to by the farmer's dog.
They are the standout performer in the dog food world
because they're making it with actual food.
No kibble, no cans.
Real meat and veggies portion for your dog.
So if you got an older dog, a younger dog, big dog, little dog,
whatever kind of Dr. Susie dog you got,
farmer's dog gets the right food for them.
And it can lead to all sorts of good stuff.
Healthier coat and skin, better digestion,
smaller, better poops.
Their words in here.
Uh, it's the right time to invest in your dog's health.
And with the farmer's dog slash talking,
about 50% off your first box and free shipping.
That's 50% off your first box and free shipping at the farmer's dog.com slash talking.
Um, your dog just might love it.
I've seen it.
I synced it.
Uh,
where are you going with your standout, Trow?
I am going with Mark Vientos of the New York Mets.
He had two homers in the game.
Was it both homers off of coal?
I believe it was.
One pulled, one oppo.
He's been just a massive part of why the Mets have turned this whole thing around,
was not on the team to start the year.
Gets a little cup of coffee at the end of April.
Since he's been up on May 15th, he started the play.
every day
since May 15th
the numbers are
293-354
553-907 OPS
8 homers
20 runs driven in
he's looking like the guy man
and I went and followed him on Instagram
and I just checked his page out
I like the vibe is all I'm saying
there's not a lot of Mets
where I'm like I like this guy's vibe
when's the last time I said that about any MET?
Yeah
okay
not you Trevor May
I didn't say that about you
I like you
T2
Mark Vantos is the guy
I think there are times where, you know,
you know that you need to take advantage of the opportunity that you are given.
He's 24 years old, gets thrown out there, gets an opportunity,
has some initial success, and then you're like, oh, okay, I can do this.
I think that's what we're seeing from him.
He's understanding, he's confident enough now to be like, I am a big leaker.
And I don't think he's been able to say that yet.
He hasn't had that moment.
yet, but this good month, two months of baseball,
it's cemented in him now.
He knows.
Yeah, he, um,
he sure looks and feels the part right now.
And it's always, it's the fun game of, you know,
is this young player on a heater and,
and let's see what else or, you know,
this guy was a real prospect.
The pop seems very real.
Uh, so if he can keep putting the barrel on the ball,
uh, everything else will come.
And yeah, I mean, you know,
I know Vientos and Beatty was a discussion
and Mets fan fandom for a while.
Viantos is here in that,
you know, I will give Grimmis credit
where credits do, unlike yourself,
because some things are bigger than sports.
And I don't know if you saw it.
Did you see the video of the knockoff grimace
during the rain delay, slugging beers on someone's shoulders?
I did.
I did.
That's Mets baseball.
So I don't know.
If you look,
Baseball reference has the Mets has a 60% chance to make the postseason right now.
They are streaking at one point.
They were 24 and 35.
Now they are 39 and 39.
So they have a lineup, man.
Nimmo's going nuts.
Bader's on a heater.
Jady Martinez is playing to his baseball card.
Lindor, same.
Pete Alonzo.
Like, Mets got the juice.
They got the juice.
Who you got?
Yanks do not currently.
Great record.
So many good guys here, Tref.
Higgie, two home or day.
I love Higgy.
Dylan Cease keeps doing these seven innings one hit starts.
Know what I like?
Complete games.
Sure, it's the White Sox.
Get, you know, whatever, man.
They're a major league team in a way.
Gavin Stone
These Dodgers, where are they going to get innings?
Who's going to be in their rotation?
How are they going to get it done?
15 starts for Gavin Stone.
A 273 ERA after nine shut piece against the White Sox.
I've said it before, so a lot of you probably know.
Some of you might not.
His brother, Colin Stone, is a big warehouse competitor for us.
great, talented pitcher and now a floorball player for McFlurry Power.
Yeah, when we first got linked with them,
and they're like sweet Southern folk.
Collins's like, yeah, my brother's pitching in the Dodgers org.
They're like, okay, cool, man, sweet.
And then we looked it up and we're like, wait, your brother,
wait, no, no, no, your brother's pitching in the Dodgers org.
And Trev, it's almost July.
I mean, we might be two starts away from Gavin Stone at the all.
star game might be joining us down in beautiful Arlington, Texas, where we'll be doing our
event. Make sure if you guys are down there, come join us.
That, yeah, the Dodgers, it's always the constant strength of this organization, besides
the big wallet, that they have been funneling pitching through there for a few years now.
Gavin Stone is now one of those guys, and he's put together a fantastic first half of the season.
Yeah, eight quality starts out of his 15,
a beautiful start against the White Sox.
Yeah, he just, he's,
that's why the Dodgers have been able to, you know,
kind of sign guys with injury risks, if you will,
because they feel like they have guys that can come up
and from their system and perform.
When they get to the big, these,
Stoner's one of the guys they relied on.
He's been great for them.
I'm hoping an All-Star game.
How many guys can they send?
That's like the thing.
Well, yeah, it always gets,
I think the.
trickier part with pitchers is like, you know, if you're lined up for that Sunday start,
you accept, but you decline. So I don't know, I can see young Gavin Stone, like,
especially in that Dodgers org, bro, where you're looking at all these other top prospects,
like, am I? Like, we look at their TPP before the season and we're like, I don't know,
I know one of these kids is going to be awesome. I don't know which one. That, yeah, I would not be
surprised if whether by default or not by default if he he gets the invite, which would be incredible,
25 years old. October 15th birthday, a Libra like myself.
Great standout, pop.
Man, Trev, we could have given it to Bryce Wilson for his great bulk outing.
Love that that made the doc.
But Trev, these, this is where the show begins, if we're being honest.
Dirt Nasty's on Fuego
That means I'm on fire, baby
Like Waco
I could use some of that right now
No doubt about it
Okay
In Fuego
Jake likes to call it
The Best Segment
Yeah
Of the episode
For the series
How about this guy
We haven't talked a lot
About Jonathan India
As of late
The Cincinnati second base
Went seven for 10 in the series
Quick math
700
Yeah
five doubles, two runs driven in, three walks, six runs scored, love that, and two stolen bases.
He had non-base streak reach 11 straight plate appearances before popping out in the bottom sixth on Wednesday.
That's awesome.
Bryce Harper going off MVP, 6 for 13, 462 average, three doubles, two homers, six runs driven in in the series.
How about Gabriel Ares?
Cleveland's utility guy, six for 11, 546, two doubles,
a homer five runs driven in, three runs of stolen base in the series. For the week, Gunner Henderson's
like on every single list there is. 12 for 27, three doubles, four homers, eight runs driven in.
He had two stolen bases to boot for the 1.5. Oh, I talked about Yondi Diaz getting hot. There
we go. 13 for 33 for the week. That's a 394 average. Two doubles, three homers, nine runs
driven in. He extended his career best hitting street to 19 games, trying to raise record set by
Jason Barlett. You mentioned that. He extended his career best
RBI streak to eight games,
tying a franchise record held by what?
Rocco Ball Deli,
Carlos Pena, Ben Zobris,
and who, our guy,
Jose McFly's best friend, Evan Longoria.
How about Brendan Donovan?
St. Louis Outfeiter,
11 for 22, quick math.
500.
Two doubles, two homers, seven runs driven
and three runs scored.
He stole a base also for the 1.4.
And then this, my friends, is a list
you really want to be on. And I even added two people.
to this list. I went rogue on the sheet
today. I went rogue.
Ben Hortavet, you talked about this guy
a lot. What's up with that? 10 for 29,
three doubles, three homers.
14 runs driven in.
His 14 runs driven in
over the last two weeks, ranks
tied for third, or tied for third, excuse me,
in the AL only behind
Anthony Santander and Aaron Judge.
That's good company. How about Carlos
Estavis?
For the Angels, five games,
five saves, five innings pitched.
Only one hit, eight K's.
That's good. That's what you want out of your closer.
He had a streak of 26 straight
retired batter since May 21st, snapped
on Tuesday by Tyler
Soderstrom's two-out single.
That guy's a stud.
Baltimore relief pitcher
Higgen-Iakin.
Five James, nine innings pitch,
no hits, one earned run
from the walk, one hit by pitch,
10ks. He's not a lot of hits
in suffering a blown save on June 12.
that's good.
I put these
next two guys in.
Pittsburgh's
Brian Reynolds,
23 game
hit streak starting on
June 1st.
I like that.
The hit streak started
on June 1st.
Nice and clean.
We know.
351 average
during the hit streak
1.046
OPS.
Rev.
I'm okay.
Six homers,
16.
Do you remember
when you couldn't sneeze
during COVID?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Oh,
bro, you should have seen it on the train, dude.
Someone sneezed.
You were out.
You wanted to throw them off the train.
It looked like one of those zombie movies where, like,
you're sneaking around being quiet and then someone steps on a piece of glass,
like everyone would turn.
We don't do that here.
You couldn't even clear your throat during COVID.
I'll clear my throat.
I'll clear your throat.
Six homer 16 RBI during that hit streak.
And then our guy, Jaron, Duran.
He's 25.
for 63 over his last 14 games.
That's a 397 average.
433 on base, 587 slug for the one daughter, 10 RBIs and five stolen bases while
playing great defense out there.
He's been going off.
And people used to say that Andrew Benatendi had big biceps, Benny biceps.
Duran puts him the shame.
Puts him the shame.
I'm never calling Benny.
Benny biceps again. I'm not.
And that's who's in Fuego.
Great in Fuego.
Feel bad for Benny at the end.
Shrapnel.
Trev, one of the things you may have done in that segment
was put Carlos Estevez on every team's trade radar.
Halos, how he's performing this year.
His recent stats, he's been pretty good.
And Trev, more importantly,
you know, some of these pitchers are big boys.
and we kind of shrug it off.
What do you think Carlos Estevez is listed at?
And I know we've struggled with some listed height and size on this,
but normally it's guys underselling.
What's he listed at in the weight department?
Both height and weight.
6.3.245.
Baseball reference has Carlos Estevez at 6.277.
Yo, okay.
That's a left tackle.
That's a left tackle throwing cheese at you.
Dang.
That's bigger than your boy Whitworth right now.
That's not.
That's nice.
The biggest human I've ever seen.
Different frames.
I'll say that.
Trev, incredible.
Love you adding to the sheet.
Don will be slightly hurt, but he'll understand.
And dude,
potential thesis.
at the end of the year.
You talk about how the raise are like, screw it.
Go do you, man.
We brought you in here because we think you're a good ball player.
Go play good ball.
The Yankees kind of don't have that unless you're like a well-respected veteran.
We made a lot of jokes last year.
They treated Roort Vet.
Pretty rude.
Like, Garrett Cole used to like scream at him on the mound.
Do you remember this?
I do.
Like, Garrett Cole was showing him up mid-fet.
game.
One that's I young.
Demanded he catch him, but would be just berating him.
It was wild to watch.
Cold hasn't done this to any other player.
Penny Rovick goes down to Tampa and he's having a blast down there.
I think 120 OPS plus.
Everybody's yelling at me.
Because, oh, I get treated like a member of the team.
I don't know.
Might be a potential follow-up thesis from me on that.
Let's do the worst part of the show.
That's how life works.
a place on the IL, this hurts right off the rip.
Adam Frazier.
Oh, come on.
Where's he playing these days?
Come on.
No time for that next step.
T.J. Friedel returns to the aisle.
That hurts.
And I was wondering, you know, we don't have a Matt McLean timeline.
Remember how many Jonathan India trade rumors there were?
Then everyone got hurt or suspended.
Yeah, but they just got, um, they just got their third basement back.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Something to think about.
Uh, Fernando.
That hurts.
He got hurt by a pitch.
Nick Ladolo for the Red Starling Marte, Chris Paddock, Brian, woo-woo.
Our guy El Gary, Javier Assad, this stinks.
This is why I hate this.
But there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
Uh, Wilson Contreras.
You mentioned that treff.
Uh, returns to the playoff, St. Louis birds.
Yeah.
Uh, Michael Massey.
Kansas City loves that cat.
And when he pisses on one, it,
goes. Jorge Polanco, can he get it going for the Mariners? He's supposed to. Bo Bichette,
can he get it going for Toronto, seeing as they're facing the Yankees probably. And then,
you know, my thigh bro, Miguel Sanoa's back for the Angels. That's a, that's a deep cut talking
baseball interview right there. Yeah, I don't know if that ever saw the light. I don't think it did.
I think that interview didn't get posted, but it's a great pick. I think, me,
and Miguel, at one point he was speaking English, I was speaking Spanish at once in a like it.
Our bodies became one at one point as NR17.
Let's start the weekend for everyone.
Oh, what?
God.
And you know what you need to do, Trev?
And this is, I'm so excited for the end of this show.
Summer's here.
Nothing more you like doing than being at the grill.
Oh.
And what about-
Dude tonight?
What about being at?
at the grill with Clayton Kirshaw's beef.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That is, I am Clayton Kirshaw's beef.
Quality beef direct to you from Clayton Kirshah.
I don't know what else you want to hear.
This is a baseball program.
And his big league box loaded full with 100% American beef.
That's right.
That's right.
Feed your family, feed your friends,
or save it all for yourself.
They don't just have steaks.
I'm talking Italian sauce siege.
I brought the meatballs home with me on the subway.
Got a lot of eyeballs.
American-grown Italian sausage.
Give it up, baby.
That's on my baseball reference.
Sliders, hamburger patties, fajita beef, stew meat,
more, whatever meat or beef you're looking for,
Kershaw's got it.
Snag your box today at Kershawbeef.com.
Use code Jomboy.
15% off your order.
That's curshaw beef.com, promo code Johnboy.
Curshaw beef, no curveballs, just beef.
God, that's...
I need some curfshaw beef.
That's all I'm saying.
That does something for me.
Where's your award going, Trump?
Okay.
So I haven't been given...
Oh.
Oh.
You just got diced up.
I forgot about that.
Hey, not for nothing.
And I know it is what I've got, but my calf next to Canoe, it's popping.
What's up with his hair?
I'm glad you said it.
And then you got the Nike socks on Under Armour's shoes.
That's like you can't do that.
Yeah, I know.
You guys really got on me for that, and now I abide by the rules.
You can't do that.
That's like you can't.
Okay.
So I'm going to give an award today, and it's going to be called the Say My Name
award. And if you don't know, say my name, say my name. It's a song by a popular
female pop group, Destiny's Child. Yeah. Frontlined by Beyonce Knowles, Kelly
Roland, and... Oh. Oh. Michelle Williams. Yes. I... That's tough. You're beautiful
well, Michelle Williams. I don't know why. I feel like people always forget her. But there's a reason
for that. It's a reason for that. Uh, back.
in the day, did you know that Destiny's Child was actually called Girls' Time?
Oh.
With a T-Y-M-E, not T-I-M-E, T-Y-Y-M-E.
And it was, originally, there was four members of it.
It was Knowles Rowland, Latavia Robertson, and Latoya Luckett.
The latter two were like, nah, we don't like the way this is being run.
So, Beyonce's dad, who was the manager, is like, all right, you're out.
See you later.
Let's bring in Michelle Williams.
and one other girl, the other girl only lasted a couple weeks,
and she's like, I'm out of this.
And then it became a trio.
And thank goodness because they've given us
some incredible, incredible music.
No, no, no, bills, bills, say my name,
bugaboo, booboo, jump and jumping.
I mean, independent women, Survivor.
Bootylicious was, I felt dirty listening.
Ladies of your man at home.
This is for the ballers and I'm going to groan.
That's jumping, jumping, jumping.
But like that's a deep track for them in that song.
They have hit after hit after hit.
Houston.
One of the best pop groups of all time.
Yes.
And shout out Kelly Roll and so underrated.
My gosh.
Okay.
So say my name award.
They were girls' time.
They turned into Destiny's Child.
Then they turn into sensations.
Do you know who else changed their name and turned into a sensation?
Giancarlo Stan.
Kind of, yeah, good one.
Okay, but you go.
The Cleveland Guardians used to be called
the Cleveland Indians.
Not so much anymore.
They changed their name to the Cleveland Guardians.
And many people, after our episode last,
our last episode, checking in on our over-unders,
they said you didn't mention the Guardians.
And that was, we didn't mean to do that.
We thought we mentioned every single team,
but for some reason.
Too good.
We didn't talk about the Guardians.
I'm going to talk about the Guardians right now
because they're the best story in baseball, in my opinion.
Jake, they have a 619 winning percentage in June.
That's their worst winning percentage of any month.
619 in June.
It's their worst.
They're 13 and 9 in one-run games.
They're 15 and 5 in blowouts.
They don't care about the game script, bro.
We'll beat you in close games.
We'll beat you in blowouts.
They're 2-1.
against Baltimore, four and two against Seattle, five and two against Boston, five and oh against
my twins.
26 and 9 in home for a 743 winning percentage.
25 and 18 on the road for a 581 winning percentage.
They are just winning baseball games, and they're kind of doing it in an interesting way.
We know they have a new manager.
A lot of times it takes a while to get things figured out, especially when you have a roster
that kind of has like an incomplete pitching staff, and I always say one of the manager's main
jobs is managing a bullpen figuring out
votes done an incredible job doing that
they have like six or seven
high leverage guys they can kind of throw out there
at any given time. It's why they have the best
bullpen in baseball and they have
the best
you know
I've compared them to the 2015-16
Royals where if they get a lead it's over
Clause Gaddis Sandlin
Cade Smith, Harran, Hensches, Barlow
they've all pitched in high leverage situations
okay Cade Smith
this guy is a genius apparently
Chris Rose told me this story today, off camera.
Cade Smith wanted to be an eye surgeon.
The only problem, his hands are too big to be an eye surgeon.
You can't make that stuff up.
So I'm just going to be a big league pitcher instead.
Tanner Bybee has been great for them in a starting role.
Ben Lively has been great for them.
The rest of the guys have been doing enough.
And then offensively, we're just getting crazy performances.
I mentioned Jose Ramirez already has 72 runs.
driven in. People, that's a good season. That's like a legit season. You're driving over 70 runs.
That's legit. It's, we just got to the halfway point. Stephen Kwan, struggle last year.
He was making contact with everything. They thought, oh, that's good. He's making contact,
but he's making weak context. They said, hey, swing to bat a little bit harder. You're probably
going to swing and miss a little bit more, but your production will go up. Well, his slugging has
gone up. He is swinging harder, but he's still making contact at the same.
rate. So it didn't matter how hard he swung the bat.
Basically they just said swing harder, it's going to be
better for you, and that's what he's done. 988
OPS for him. David Frye, 941 OPS.
Josh Naylor, 20 homers, 58 runs
driven in for an 825 OPS.
They have the highest OPS with
runners in scoring position at an 859.
380 on base percentage
when guys get on, or in runners and scoring position.
How about runners in scoring position with two outs, Jake?
The highest OPS in all baseball with an
861. So they actually get a little bit better
when there's two outs for runners in scoring position
and you're saying, okay, that's great.
They got a great bullpen.
They're doing enough with a starting pitching.
Is that going to be sustainable?
We'll see.
But if you have that many people in the bullpen,
like you're not going to wear them out.
What about their defense?
Oh, they're just third in all of baseball
and defensive run saves at plus 41.
This is not a fluke team.
I don't think a lot of people had this on their radar.
Whatsoever.
I believe they were projected for seven,
73 and a half wins, according to draft king before the year.
They are blowing by that.
They're almost there already, and it's the middle of the season.
This team is just...
They're the real deal, man.
And I just had to say their name, say their name.
The Cleveland Guardians say my name award.
No one is around you.
Say, baby, I love you.
When Destiny's Child used to come on.
The body's two booty-licious for you, baby.
I think you're ready for this jelly.
I don't think you're ready about this.
Copyright.
It's one of...
It's one of those things that...
Well, let me start with Destiny's Child
before the Guardians.
You know, for me, Destiny's Child,
when they were slapping,
that's like a school dance song.
Like, that's...
Sure.
You know, and it's, you know,
teachers, get ready to break up some dancing
because, like, you know,
it's going to get physical out there.
I can only imagine what the bars were like,
like Destiny's Child, if that came on at a bar?
Oh, God.
Anyways.
The Guardians are great.
The Guardians are great.
And yet, that second game, man, when the Orioles turn, like,
the Orioles have, like, a lizard mode
where their eyes roll back in their head and they're like,
we're just going to hit until you lose this game.
They went into that mode, and the Guardian said, no.
we're going to hit more
and then we'll pitch enough to get it done
Jake they were last in the league
in homers last year
they were eighth in the league in homers this year
basically just saying guys
fucking swing a little harder
yeah and they took those seats out
that's uh
that's true that's one of those sneaky fun
that's one of those sneaky fun baseball stories
of this year brought to my attention
by T1 Trevor May
um
it's a
great award, Tref. Artistic. Beautiful.
I'm going to send us into the weekend with something that'll get you going even more.
I'm giving out the Hot Boy Battle Award. And this could be a double-edged sword.
Because on Wake and Jake this week, I dove into some mid-season awards. You know, sure, is it an easy
click? And there's some obvious stuff. Like in the AL, and I teased you with this before.
I was like, you know what? It's looking like, like,
Like Gunner and Judge, Gunner's doing historic things,
Judge is doing historic things.
Let's kind of see where the chips fall where they may.
You know, one or two other bodies floating around,
Bobby Witt's falling off a little bit,
Soto will be around.
But those two guys, and that's kind of what I expected.
NL MVP, I've kind of been...
Remember, Mookie was going nuts?
And it was just like, well,
Mookie's playing shortstop and hitting it a historic level,
so it's probably him.
you know, Shohei.
And right now, if you go to Draft Kings and you look at the odds,
Shohay's the favorite, almost even money.
And I was like, who's number two?
Like, who's Shohay competing with right now?
The other guy that's up top.
And then it's a hodgepodge, like Freddy's in there,
a couple other bodies, William Contreras.
Shohei Otani and Bryce Harper.
I like that.
Treff.
I mean, we've got one thing going on.
You got Shohei, the year he's not pitching.
The year of Ipe, Mookie goes down.
Shohei's still leading the league and a ton of stats.
I knew Bryce was bawling.
I didn't know how deep we are into it.
Bryce, 987 OPS.
He's got 20 homers.
He's on pace for 40 plus this year.
305 batting average,
402 on base, 585 slug.
It's just a reminder.
Bryce Harper now playing first base, by the way.
So when end of the year war comes up,
like Shohei's not getting any defensive war points,
and I don't think Bryce is racking them up at first base
because that's a tough spot to rack up defensive war.
But just the fact he's in the field,
there's going to be points to that.
that I don't know.
I was kind of, I had my eyes on the prize with Judge and Gunner.
So when I turned my head to see Show Hey and Bryce,
it's a hot boy summer, man.
I'm hyped up.
They're won two and a lot of the significant statistics.
Slugging percentage.
Otani, 643, Bryce's second, 585.
OPS, you mentioned Bryce at 987,
show hey at one dot in it
104 5
so show hey has the leg up on him a little bit here
but Bryce is having an incredible season
and you know the kind of runs he can go on too
and you know like the Phillies
if they continue to have the best record
like little when you're getting into players
who are this good
little things like that
can be separating votes that
I don't know man I got hype
the other day. Do you know who's like
sandwiched in just right all around
Marcel.
And pro far, dude.
It's crazy.
He leads in on base percentage
over Otani, over Harper.
He's fifth in Ops, right behind
Freddie Freeman. He goes, O'Tonnie Harper
Ozuna Freeman Profar.
Has someone written the Profar article yet?
Like, did he give up
vegetables this offseason or something?
Like, what?
No, no. How did we get you?
He doesn't look good in a uni right now.
It looks a little thicker.
Oh, maybe thick jerks in.
That's the sauce.
Okay.
So I don't know.
I guess it's kind of an excited for baseball award that, sure, Gunner and Judge is pretty sick.
Maybe Bobby gets back in the mix.
I'm not against it.
But man, Bryce and Shohei?
I like that.
We'll see him at the All-Star game.
We'll see them in Arlington and Dallas.
I hope we see everyone down there.
And I hope everyone has a good weekend.
and make sure you like and subscribe everything on this video.
A little Thursday drop.
I think we'll save it for tonight.
Get the people rowdy.
Not talking to Les.
Although having a great June.
Great June.
Chicks sucks.
I'm going to grill some meat tonight.
Kershaw's.
Got to get you and Maddie a box.
Matthew, excuse me.
Yeah, call Matthew, okay?
Thank you.
I can get a say.
Me, Matthew, Jimmy, Chris Stapleton.
I see live at a country concert.
He was hot.
It was hot.
