Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello and welcome to talk in baseball. It's time to look into the future. See into our mind's mind for what's coming up this season. Because it's happening this week. Let's talk ball. Orion Kirkring. Chapper back to the mouth. That's tough.
Starting point is 00:00:25 I don't mean that. The audio wasn't high on that and that's good. Hello and welcome to talk in baseball presented by Fanatics Markets, markets where fans can trade on sports, Fanatics markets available now on the app stores. That's right, people. Our new friends at Fanatics, they're fans of us. We're fans of them.
Starting point is 00:00:47 I am Jake Storieli. That is Trevor Plouf. It's almost the night before Christmas, Coach Trev. Baseball is being played this week, 48 hours or so. Yankees Giants will be live streaming it. Make sure you guys go check that out on the Talking Yanks channel.
Starting point is 00:01:06 And then opening day, for everyone else the next day. We're here. Out on the left coast. Trevor Plouffe. Hi. Hello, everyone. I'm excited to talk ball with you today.
Starting point is 00:01:20 I immediately regretted saying Tapper back to the mound. I'm not that guy and I acted like that guy. And I just was talking to you about people that I hate before the episode and I became one of those people so quickly. Well, that's what I'm saying. I mean, Ryan Kirkering is really good. think he's going to be defined by that moment because I will not be I think he's going to shove this year maybe I can find a number on that real quick um but yeah you just went with your instinct there and I'm
Starting point is 00:01:49 sorry I'm sorry that's how it happened hey Phillies fans we will talk the Sanchez extension a little later in this episode so uh you know that's some I already thought he got an extension I thought we already did that and well he did he had a con he had a contract yes I can't wait to talk about that because there's some people that I need to tell to shut up. Wow, that's fantastic. Tune in later this episode as Coach Trev tells the people to shut up. No, just one person. Just one person.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Just one single person. Okay, that's even better, a little more person. You've wanted more drama on this show. And we are doing an annual episode of sorts. We're going to go out. We're going to find some lines and some numbers, and we're going to see what the board is telling us. And we're going to talk some baseball.
Starting point is 00:02:39 I know a lot of you don't necessarily live in the sports betting space, but a lot of people do. And for us, it's a good way to talk about ball. Well, for those that do live in that space, find some numbers we like. And something that just, you know, doesn't pass our sniff test or super does pass our sniff test. But, yeah, it's a way to facilitate some ball talk
Starting point is 00:03:04 because that's what we do here, Coach. Should we jump right in, Big Daddy? I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. Well, and we're kind of also putting a bow on our TPP season. Thank you to everyone that's been tuning in. I know it's a new format this year it helped us out a lot. We have our final two teams coming out tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:03:26 That will start off with the easy stuff. Let's start off positive, Trevor. There's a lot of negativity in this world, you know? I've seen it. Social media. That let's start off with a team, a team that we think is just going to go over. You and I did a lot of over-unders this year.
Starting point is 00:03:46 I think it's time to kind of, you know, when push comes to shove and, dude, the lines have changed. Like, since we started doing our team profile and projections, we've had a bunch of injuries. And we just got found out Spencer Strider, who was also on my Cy Young draft. he's going to be starting the season on the IL that a lot has changed for some of these teams
Starting point is 00:04:09 going back to January, February when we started doing this that now here we are March 23rd and you just got to pick one and that's when we come back to the scoreboard and we look back year over year. By the way, little poppy went 3 and 0 last year. No big deal. When we look back,
Starting point is 00:04:29 you get to pick one team to go over with the new lines and on the full open board. Where did you go, Coach? I had a couple teams that I wanted to talk about today, and this is actually, I'm guaranteed Dalton Fieldy's going to laugh at this one, but the more and more I think about it, I said this on their TPP. I want to reward teams with my positive vibes,
Starting point is 00:04:55 teams that actually went out and did what they're supposed to do. So I was going to pick a different team for this over, and then I started getting into it and then I remembered what happened in the WBC and who kind of took over the WBC especially for Team USA who just was an absolute guy
Starting point is 00:05:13 do you know who I'm going to talk about? The electrician from the check saw him on Pich ninja the other day. I did like that guy. Yeah, that was nice. I said for Team USAJJJ. Oh, okay, okay, I missed that detail. Paul Skinner's
Starting point is 00:05:29 He's got a name that you'd expect from a guy from the south. Oh. Gunner Henderson. The Baltimore Orioles right now on the app are 85 and a half. We did this on the TPP. The more you start to look at the lineup, the more you start to look at the rotation,
Starting point is 00:05:56 the more you start to look at the bullpen, you're saying, all right, I understand they're in a gauntlet of a division. But I do believe that the additions that they, made bringing in i think peter lonzo's going to be such a game changer for that lineup that's pretty obvious gunner henderson is going to be we don't we always say oh well you know the baseline for the royals is bobby wood junior and his eight war like gunner henderson like kind of is bobby whit junior like are we are is that not true like i i they're they're like neck and neck maybe bobby's up by a hair i don't but i maybe i don't even really believe that i think they're kind of the same player
Starting point is 00:06:32 well careful now is that weird weird to say. No. Give me pushback on that and tell me why. I don't, I don't. So they're starting out with a guy who's going to be a perennial MVP candidate, okay, at the top of the line that you bring in some big time pop, you bring in Taylor Ward, you're bringing Pete Alonzo.
Starting point is 00:06:50 You got a young DH, a guy that a lot of people believe in in Basayo, a bounce back year from Tyler O'Neill, a bunch of like, it's like young, it's veteran, it's everyone. I just think that we're going to see an Orioles team come out. and I have them closer to like the 88 win total this year. I have them in the playoffs. I'm taking the Baltimore Orioles over. Again, they addressed everything that they needed to address this offseason.
Starting point is 00:07:18 And I'm kind of just pushing those good vibes towards the Baltimore Orioles. Trev, this is funny because we were planning this episode beforehand and how are we going to do it. And a little spoiler coming up, we're each going to pick a 30 home run guy. my pick was going to be Gunner. I like the number on it. And I just think he's a dude, and you're right. I now have my signature speech that I've given about Bobby Witt.
Starting point is 00:07:46 It's like, okay, Bobby Witt Jr., he's Mike Trout. He's the best shortstop in baseball. He's the best baseball player, not named O'Tonian judge. If those guys didn't exist, we'd be talking about Bobby Witt so much more about who he can be in the face of baseball and different things like that. I truly believe that. Those other guys are pulling more than their weight, so I'm happy for that.
Starting point is 00:08:12 And Gunner is right there. He had a nine-war season in 2024. He had an injury right before the season that had him get off to a slow start. I mentioned there's an article out there that talks about his launch angle and his swing. It was basically the modern version of his swing being. a click-off. And his swing being a click-off still led to him being one of the best players in baseball. And shout out to Orioles fans who called me out.
Starting point is 00:08:42 I talked about how Gunner, you know, he was showing a motion on the field, and I kind of called him a Southern guy that I haven't seen a lot of that. They were like, no, dude, he, Orioles games day in, day out. Gunner brings that. And it's like, yes, all right. So I'll wear that one. You have a question or a statement. Bobby Witt and Gunner
Starting point is 00:09:02 basically have the exact same like career at bat so far or like they started in 2020 you know actually Bobby played 150 games in 2022 Gunner played in 34 okay
Starting point is 00:09:17 and then they had full years 2023, 2022 4 and 2025 their B-WR is essentially the exact same we're talking about again, Bobby Witt gets put on this pedestal, and for good reason, he's an absolute stud. He is one of the faces of the game, and somehow Gunner kind of gets left behind, and he shouldn't.
Starting point is 00:09:40 I'm in on the Orioles. I got him in 88 wins. Take the over on them. It's 85 and a half. You got it. Amazing work. Also, for those watching on our YouTube, the graphic that Rob had for you is an amazing picture of you.
Starting point is 00:09:57 I'm worried that my graphic's going to come up, and my picture's not going to have that same genesee qua. Where's that from? Sometimes that's how it works. Where is that from, is that? That's spring training 2022. Oh, that's an old pit. It is.
Starting point is 00:10:13 It is. That's why I look so good. A few years ago. Do you want to share your skin care product you've been using that we found out at our trip to the World Baseball Classic? You put some on my face? Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it's this, it's salmon sperm, something, but I don't know the brand
Starting point is 00:10:30 of it, yeah. It works. I mean... No free ad, but you are putting salmon sperm on your face and my face. For the guys listening out there, ask your lady about it. For the ladies listening up there, you already know. I-Y-K-Y-K, if you will. No, it's a good pick.
Starting point is 00:10:48 I like the birds this year. I just think that start just sprinted away from them, and it was because they had no pitching, and they should have more pitching than that. And Gunner, yeah, it was everything you gave about why people kind of like the Royals. If you start with Bobby Witt, if you start with Gunner, you just need a couple things to go right. And you can have an elite off at, like, yes, that I like the birds this year.
Starting point is 00:11:18 Good pick. Good pick. Today's episode is sponsored by Amazon. Starting point is 00:12:02 I'm going a little more grindy. Because Trev, the secret here is we're playing numbers, you know? My over that I'm going to lock in is the St. Louis Cardinals at 69 and a half. That number is too low. Oh, my God. I like all of the NL Central this year, which that's a problem, except the Pirates, which is the team that everyone else likes. So this is where I'm swimming upstream,
Starting point is 00:12:36 like those same salmon. Yeah, see, the picture just popped up on YouTube, and that's not as... It looks like you're doing a face. You're doing a crazy face. It looks like a crazy face. Crazy guy. But you're doing it on purpose.
Starting point is 00:12:51 I am too close to the sun with the Cardinals coaching staff. Everyone knows that from winter meetings this year. Trev, it was also just a weird moment when we were doing their... team profile and projection that we looked at the Cardinals Ross and we're like, this isn't, this isn't horrible. And 69 and a half wins, you're talking about a team going 70 and 92. Like the St. Louis Cardinals, there's still talent on the field.
Starting point is 00:13:17 The pitching's the scary part. Like, there could very much be a point in this season where we're like, yo, look where the St. Louis Cardinals pitching is. I do think that can also go the other way. Like Libert-Torre, who's getting the pill on opening day, I can buy into that. Dustin May has a bounceback moment. Like there could also be a time when we're talking about like,
Starting point is 00:13:39 hey, these Cardinals aren't a bad team. J.J. Weatherholt getting the, like, is he going to be the next guy? We're getting caught up Connor Griffin, who's not starting the year with the team, our guy on the Tigers, who I'm all in on McGonigal. Like, Weatherholt might be a part of that crew, and we haven't talked about him that way, that if he is, like, these Cardinals can be putting an okay product on the field that I'm playing the line here. And 69 and a half just feels low for what I still view as a proud franchise that stumbled into a couple blast seasons.
Starting point is 00:14:14 It is kind of a, let's see what we got in the organization type year for them, let the young kids play, we're going to sort the roster out type of year. So, I mean, there is a best case scenario in situations like that. So I see what you're talking about. We did talk about this lineup and the players, you know, them having talent on the field. I do agree with that. The pitching obviously is, like you said, what scares you. And then I, you kind of mention it.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Like you like all the rest of the central. I'm just kind of trying to push back a little bit. I'm not even sure. I didn't even look at this line. So it's me analyzing in real time. The NL Central is going to be a very, very good division this year. So I know it's a more balanced schedule. It's not as division heavy as it was in years past.
Starting point is 00:15:09 I feel like the NL has so many damn good teams. 69 and a half wins. I can get on it. I can get on a 70 win Cardinals team. I guess that's where I kind of jakey reverse engineered this, A, they won 78 games last year. A 62 win team loses 100 games. This team doesn't feel like in that realm.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Like when we're looking around the teams of baseball, they could lose 100 games. The Cardinals don't register on that scale for me. And I don't know, man, there's part of me that feels like they've turned a new leaf, like where Aeronado's stats landed last year, were kind of tough. I know Grand Contreras leaving, those are two guys we like for this year for the Red Sox,
Starting point is 00:16:03 but also it just feels like this organization has turned a page that between Mason Wyn, Herrera, Jordan Walker, can one of those guys be a breakout player this year? I think absolutely. Weatherholt with a chance to make the team out of camp, and I kind of like their bullpen that, I don't know. You're right about the Central. It is, you know, depending how,
Starting point is 00:16:26 you look at it this year. It could be a much better division than I think we've given it respect to in past years. But I think the Cardinals can be a little bit of a part of that. That I don't know. I'm playing the line there, if I'm being honest. Can I help you out here a little bit?
Starting point is 00:16:43 Fan graphs just came out with their projected standings. They had the Cardinals last in the NL Central. But they got him at 75 wins pop. I feel like you're playing with House Money a little The pirates, the pirates finished last place in the central last year.
Starting point is 00:17:00 They won 71 games. So, and the last time, this is Dalton on the fly, the last time a Cardinals team had less than 70 wins in a season, 1978. What were you doing then? Some other simulation. We were both salmon sperm at that point. Could have been a salmon at that point.
Starting point is 00:17:25 Enough of the niceties. that had me on delay that was good trep um let's go with an under you know hey oh talk a bit these guys oh they love every player they love every team let's not coach uh let's lock in a team under where are you looking see you're gonna hate what my answer here really because i'm going to talk about a really good team that i really do like perfect i am going to take the under on the Los Angeles Dodgers. It is shot up to 103.5 wins. There is a world, Jake,
Starting point is 00:18:08 where this team wins 120 games. This is a great roster. We said the same thing last year. We said the same thing last year. I just believe fundamentally that it is very, very difficult to win that many games during the regular season. I think having a six-band rotation is a little odd.
Starting point is 00:18:28 It kind of throws most people off. We saw their bullpen kind of implode last year. Now, did they bring in Edwin-Diaz? Yes, can we expect better things from a Tanner Scott? I'm assuming. They do have the starting pitching depth, but it gets tested year in and year out. And then I firmly believe that we say this all the time on this show.
Starting point is 00:18:52 They're not really looking at the regular season. they're not really looking at that. They are planning every year for October. Whether that means rest days or not, I don't necessarily think it has to mean that. But I do think it means keeping pitchers on a schedule and not chasing wins during a regular season, if that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Like they're going to keep those guys on a schedule. I don't think Edwin Diaz is going to go a ton of back-to-back-to-back games. I think they're going to space him out. I think that's going to be their plan because they know that they're going to be in the playoffs. They know that that's when it matters for them. So I just don't think they're going to be chasing wins. And again, 104 wins is nuts. They were a very, very good team last year.
Starting point is 00:19:42 They had five out of six winning months last year. They had won a 10 and 14 month. And they won 93 games or was it 94 last year? 93 games. It just seems to me like they have their plan, and their plan isn't for the regular season. Like, they have a great team. They're going to be in every single game. They can out slug people.
Starting point is 00:20:07 They can outpitch people. They have it all. I understand that. I'm not trying to knock the Dodgers. I just think thinking about a team winning 104 games is just too much. Too much. And I feel like we kind of do this every single year with them. I'm taking the under on the Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:20:24 at 103 and a half. Yeah, and we have their TPP coming out tomorrow, so we deep dive into it a little more. That's a big number. I mean, that's an amazing season, and sure, that can happen, but the Dodgers who are going for a three-peat, the last three years, 93 wins, 98 wins, 100 wins.
Starting point is 00:20:41 A hundred wins season is a great season. 102 wins is like a, you know, historic-ish MLB season, depending how you're looking at it. Does this team potentially have that rest of it? Absolutely. But if one or two things go wrong or one month goes wrong, which I believe when we were looking at,
Starting point is 00:21:01 I think the Dodgers had a pretty rough record in July last year. It was 10 and 14, real rough. You have, I mean, that is a tough month. It's a bad month, but I'm saying that was the only one. Look, if Heisson Kim was on the opening day, Ronster, maybe I think differently. Right. There's a lot of talk about that.
Starting point is 00:21:19 Katie Wu saying, hey, I got 957 OPS in spring. and they keep Freeland over you, what's going on? That to me is telling you that they don't care about the regular season to start. They want Hassan Kim to go down there and work on a swing a little bit more because guys, we want him for the back end of the season. The interesting part of the convo is that if there's any team that hasn't had to worry as hard about regular season wins, I think it's this Dodgers team. it is quite genuinely postseason or bust for a team going for a three-peat.
Starting point is 00:21:58 I think that's the best place to hang your hat. And we don't need to, again, the TPP is coming out tomorrow. Go check that out. The team has some potential weaknesses, but on such a different level than every other team. Look, it's reasoning behind this checkpoints. It's just really hard to win that many games. I don't think they would necessarily care about the regular season.
Starting point is 00:22:20 And then you mention it. I mean, back to back. World Series victories. I mean, you're running deep into October. Like, I think it catches up to teams. I think it catches up to players as well. Like, you have a shorter offseason. Every single time you do that, it's,
Starting point is 00:22:38 I think they're going to be great. But 104 wins is a lot. I mean, coastal, coastal elitists. Maybe we are not, Coach Trev. I'm going with the Mets. I don't know. I feel like I'm walking into a buzz saw a little bit. The New York Mets have totally retooled their team.
Starting point is 00:23:02 They landed at 83 wins last year, and obviously it was a tale of two kitties. The Mets were the best team in baseball for about three months. They were not for the rest of it. It's a long season. They have bolstered their pitching, which ran out on them last year. I love, Freddie Peralta was my favorite move of the off-season.
Starting point is 00:23:23 I have questions about the bullpen. I have questions about the lineup. I have questions about how it's going to settle. You obviously have one of the biggest staples in the world in Juan Soto. That as we're talking about building out a great team, that, you know, Lindor Soto-Bichette can be special and dynamic. And I'm actually, I'm not really doubting any of those guys. I can give you a fake Bichette, a new place, first year speech.
Starting point is 00:23:47 I'm not. I love Bo Bichet. I think he just hits. There's a clear season that's an outlier on his career. career. Lindor, could you do something? Maybe he has a slow start because he missed spring training. Sure, but I don't care.
Starting point is 00:24:00 He's Francisco Lindor. For me, it's just the, like, Luis Robert and Simeon moves. I don't know what those are going to be this year. And, like, we're, I know they can play defense, but offensively, they've been in a, tough spot. And hopefully both of them just need a shot of life leaving two clubhouses that we're having some weird times. And then they've got young guys.
Starting point is 00:24:25 Is Beatty going to follow up or build on last year? I like Alvarez. Is Benj the guy in the outfield? Or is it going to be more Tyrone Taylor, Eviantos? And the bigger thing is that division's just tough, man. The Phillies won 96 last year. I think the Braves are going to put a better product on the field this year. Although, with the way the injury bug is rolling, maybe they don't.
Starting point is 00:24:50 And I need to get that out of my field. my head. I think the Marlins are pesky. I just think, yes, some of the ads are great. You also lost Pete Alonzo. You also lost Edwin Diaz. I think the Mets can have a nice season and still not catch that 90 and a half wins. I don't hate it. Because I do really like this Mets team. I didn't know what the over-under was right there. I thought it was going to be closer to like 88 and a half. And then, you know, I was going to push back a little bit. I could, I can see. that a 90 win Mets team would be a phenomenal year for them.
Starting point is 00:25:31 I don't know. I'm bought in, though, on the Mets. So I don't have a lot of... I'm not agreeing with the under necessarily. It's, I... As far as my picks this episode, it's not the one I feel the most confident about. I picked a ton of overs for teams.
Starting point is 00:25:49 For me, it's like what you just said, I think the line should be a little different. Like I, for a team, for Edwin Diaz, who without him that bullpen last year was, oh my God. And then he brought in so many guys for that bullpen. That's the only thing. They bring in Devin, they bring in Luke. You know I love me some Tobias Myers. Hey, a bullpen can change quick that I would then point to the other side of the ball that like,
Starting point is 00:26:15 hey, what Pete, I know we're going to, hey, a lot of guys are putting balls in play now. And Polanco and Bichette, that's just a very different dynamic. than Alonzo, but it's also a very different dynamic than Alonzo. Like, that's a lot of homers. That's a lot of runs batted in. I know we don't care about that stat because, oh, well, it doesn't necessarily mean how your season was. Well, your team matters about that stat because those are literally runs on the board.
Starting point is 00:26:41 That, uh, I, I think a Mets true number should probably be like your 86 and a half, something like that. Um, that that 90 and a half just feels like a big number. And I don't love a lot of unders right now, which is a little. scary and injury just dictates it. I'm a, they're probably the most fascinating team for me to watch this year because they did have such a massive roster overhaul. I mean, it's completely different than it was last year. I do like the moves they made. I think they had, I know that you can play the Pete Alonzo
Starting point is 00:27:15 card and like, hey, that's, that's a big negative against them in the off season. But they really, I mean, dude, the people they brought in. These are real deal players. They addressed the areas of need. I guess, but you do see Alonzo and Diaz out. And that's a big gap to fill. I think they did a pretty good job in filling it. So yeah, they're one of my most fascinating teams to watch this year.
Starting point is 00:27:40 And I can see, I don't know, I don't see like a bad season happening for them. But I could see how you would think that lines a little high. I uh yeah with the Mets you never really know I they should they showed us both sides of it last year that I'm I'm interested to see what we get more of this year let's go to the players uh coach shrev and this one we get a little hype and these were I think these were my favorite things to look at um there was a 30 plus homer area just pick a cat to hit 30 plus homers and you could get decent numbers on like I I remember you and I laughing a couple years ago when we first did this episode and we're like, I don't think the books
Starting point is 00:28:23 haven't figured out yet. I don't think the books have this figured out yet. Like what 30 homers is in today's baseball, now you need to stay healthy, which is always part of the cheat code on this. But I, what they're offering his lines, I'm, I'm in on, I'm very interested to see which guy jumped out for you. You mentioned health. And that is going to dictate the guy that I'm talking about because over a 162 average, he's got a 3,000. 37 home run mark. He's had two years of 40, but no other years over 30.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Okay. I'm talking about Ronald de Cunia Jr. Oh, I love rackum. When he's on the field, Jake, it's a, it's a lock for 30 plus homers. Like, in any season that he's played over 119 games, um, he's hit 41 and 41.
Starting point is 00:29:19 like that's only been two seasons of his eight years that he's done that so like it is a health related issue he's looks healthy played in wBC did a great job there there's been talks about like how good he looks and how good he feels and normal offseason all that good stuff so i'm i'm banking on health because um of what i've been hearing and if he is healthy he's going to hit over 30 homers. And I think the number on it is there's not a lot of juice on it as well. Let me get that up.
Starting point is 00:29:54 I think it's plus a hundee. It's plus a hunch. Right. Over 30 homers, Ronald Kuhn Jr.: again, 162 game average for this guy is 37 homers. Play 150 games, 140 games, 130 games. You're hitting 30 homers.
Starting point is 00:30:11 I've been on a Ronald kick this off season. I'm also smiling. because you might hear something about him coming up. But yeah, man, I'm all in on a community. I can't believe his stats page. You're right. It really is all injury. It really is.
Starting point is 00:30:26 And, hey, we get on players for that same thing. This is kind of a big one for him. Like, if that happens again, I think he's going to get labeled a certain way. He's already labeled that. I think you're right. Yeah. I think you're right.
Starting point is 00:30:41 But there's a, I guess there's a couple guys ahead. of him in the injury prone rankings that I think he gets covered a little bit. Who are they? If it happens again, well, you hate it. Byron Buxton and Stanton are the two that come to mind for me. Anyone else? Oh, I'm not saying the name Dahl just said, but Mike Trout. He had a lot of years before he started.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Exactly. I mean, it's kind of fun. Like him and Harper used to be reversed how people used to use it. So you can also lose that, but it's by playing games. I like the picture of this episode is sponsored by Seekkeek. The MLB season is nearly here, not to mention the NBA, NHL, and even the World Cup coming up this summer, which is why I want to give our sponsor today's video,
Starting point is 00:31:32 Seekek, a huge shout-out with over 35 million downloads and over 70,000 listed events. Seat Geek is the number one-rated ticketing app. Each ticket is rated on a scale of 1 to 10, so you know you're getting a good deal. Look for green dots. Green means good. Red means bad.
Starting point is 00:31:49 You now know how to use the app. And of course, we got a code for you, people. Talking 2026, 10% off your next set of tickets at C-Geek. 10% off tickets with promo code, talking 2026. Whether you have the app, whether you don't, download it, put it in the app, use it when you're ready to go. Thank you, C-keek. Are you going heavy?
Starting point is 00:32:10 Are you going heavy plus with your pick? I feel like you are. So I'm just impressed that the pluses are like nice. Like I got everyone's on the Vinny Pasquitino train right now. Gunner was honestly my pick going in. I had a couple, but you already hyped up Gunner enough. That I'm going to go. I mean, Colson Montgomery at plus 195 is kind of like,
Starting point is 00:32:33 that's a good one too. He almost did that. In that division? He almost did that in a short amount of games. I'm not going there. I'm going to go with one that it just doesn't feel right. I'm going to go with James Wood. James Wood is plus 155.
Starting point is 00:32:48 To hit 30 plus homers. He hit 31 last year. And the scary thing is, he did most of that damage early on. In the first half in 95 games, he had 24 homers. So that also means the second half got a little thin, which, okay.
Starting point is 00:33:06 When you look at it back on paper, really it was his July, was really rough. You know, his bad months of August and September, he had a 785 OPS and a 724. So I think this dude is just very special. If he was playing on a team that wasn't the nationals, I think we'd talk James Moore a little wood, a little more, Jakey. 23 years old.
Starting point is 00:33:36 And the other thing I like, he hit lefties and righties. 825 OPS versus righties, 823 OPS versus lefties 6-6-2-34. The guy can run. The guy can hit. Like I think if there's another level, which for a lot of 23-year-olds, there are, like this guy can get mentioned with some of the bigger names.
Starting point is 00:34:02 I think people want to see more. But from everything we've seen, he's been awesome, basically from the start. So I'm, for that number, yeah, that was my easy. one. His savant page is great because he's a young guy and all the things that you'd kind of expect
Starting point is 00:34:18 if you are young and you are the type of player he is, I mean, it's just, it is what it is. Like he needs to strike out less. He needs to swing and miss less. But that comes with you know, more of bats under your belt at the bigley level. So like, I
Starting point is 00:34:34 believe the whiff rate and the K rate are going to go more positive in his favor. And if that happens, then yeah, like that's when he becomes, he takes that next, that next level. And I don't know if you've read some of these like articles about what's happening in nationals camp this year. All the players are just like, wow, like, we have iPads and we have like information.
Starting point is 00:34:59 Yeah. Like they're just catching up to like what every single team has had for the last like five years. That information alone, that game planning alone might help. James Wood. He might hit 70 homers this year because he's got scouting reports for the first time in his life, which is crazy.
Starting point is 00:35:20 So I'm in it. There's also talks about our guy, Blake Butera, like taking infield with the guys and getting his pants dirty and the clubby being like, I've never had dirty manager pants before. So this is a little weird.
Starting point is 00:35:33 And I'm, you know I'm in on that, because I would do that too. Yeah. Deuterra, man. Yeah. stuff out of Nats camp. I don't know what it means for this year. I hope it means a fun summer of baseball. I know we can build on that. And I think James Wood, he's been doing his part.
Starting point is 00:35:54 And yeah, if his second half was anything like his first half, he would have easily hit 40 last year. I know you can say that for a lot of different players, but he feels like a different kind of dude. You know what's funny about this list we're looking at here. There's a couple guys that aren't even available to bet. like a Swarber or an Otani or a judge or a Nick Kurtz or a Cal Raleigh. It's like a foregone conclusion. They hit 30 apparently. You got to find them on, they have a 40 plus home run line. They have a 50 plus home run line.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Judge is even money to hit 50 plus homers, which is just disgusting. That's just, and Otani is basically the same. Yeah, no, the 31 is really cool. Whoever your favorite player is at home, if you live in this world, like Michael Bush, Colson Montgomery, L.E. Day, La Cruz. I like the Colson Montgomery call a lot, Jake.
Starting point is 00:36:49 Roman Anthony, like, there's a lot of really nice numbers there. Like, you know, I don't know, whoever your guy is, and if you just want to ride with them through the season, that seemed like the most fun one. Usually the most fun one historically here has been our sprinkle. Long shot odds. Take a chance on something.
Starting point is 00:37:07 I think Jimmy got the longest win streak one year. That's so long. Such a weird thing to bet. Crazy. Corbyn's a young year I might have hit that. Whoops. Trev, A, we normally argue about how crazy the sprinkle has to be
Starting point is 00:37:23 betting wise. I think mine is plus $1,400. I don't know where you... Mine should be more, but it's just a fun bet to have. I love a fun bet. Mine should be more. It's only plus $800 for somehow. Okay. I can make that work.
Starting point is 00:37:38 I don't know why. Will there be a perfect game thrown in 2026? Yes, at plus 800. It really should be like plus 25 or plus 3,000, right? What do they know? Exactly. That was going to be my whole spiel is this number, it's way too low. I think you have to sprinkle on it.
Starting point is 00:38:03 The last one was Domingo Hermon in 2023. Yeah, athletics. Against the A's. And then before that, it was Felix Hernandez, Philip, I'm doing this on the fly. Philip Umber and somebody else in 2012. There's got to be another perfect game. There was three in 2012 and then one in 2023. There's only been.
Starting point is 00:38:31 Matt Kane? That's what Dalton. Matt Kane? Yeah. Yeah. There it is. We've had this number. It should not be.
Starting point is 00:38:41 In over a decade? 2023. The last one. This number should be plus 3,000. But for some reason, it's plus 800. So I'm, I'm a sharp on this. I'm taking it, coach. Oh, I see what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:38:58 The number should be so much crazier that it's not, but that makes you sharp. I'm going to tell you who's going to throw it. Jeez. Okay. I'm in. Christopher Sanchez is going to throw. a perfect game against the Nationals.
Starting point is 00:39:13 No. Yes, he is. Yes, he is. Wow. I'm giving you the game. I'm giving you plus 800. No, it's funny. No, where my brain,
Starting point is 00:39:23 which, hey, this is a fun. Let's do it in the comments. If you pick the pitcher that throws a perfect game this year, we'll go back. We'll get you some shirts or something. Tickets, I don't know. The first name I jumped to was Sandy. Just like bounce back Sandy year.
Starting point is 00:39:38 He just gets unlimited pitch. pitches again, basically. Like, he's a guy that could get through six innings with 54 pitches. Okay, comment below. Who's your perfect game throw this year? We should do it. I already gave you the answer, but whatever. You guys go ahead.
Starting point is 00:39:54 There might be two. There might be three. 2012. Do you remember Philip Humber, who a former teammate, nice guy? Rice? Yes. Like that shit? Like him, Wade Townsend and somebody else all coming out of Rice.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Rice was like a pitching factory John Nice no I think he was out of high school No that's not John Neese there was another guy They're all big dogs They were all big boys yes I remember that Jeff Neiman Neiman I think you're right Yeah wow
Starting point is 00:40:26 Look at us The last pitch of his was this like A ball that bounced like 10 feet in front of the plate And it looked like they weren't even to get the guy out at first base I think if he would have ran hard they wouldn't have. Are we getting it up? I think I think Bob was getting it up right now. Wow. But yeah, I just thought that was really interesting. Look at him.
Starting point is 00:40:50 Three two pitch. Watch this bangor he throws. Oh, gets away. Oh. Yeah, it's Brendan Ryan. He doesn't run it out. Who is he mad at? The umpire. On the check swing? He threw the bat. So he didn't. It wasn't a bounce was so far outside. Oh my gosh. Ryan, that's tough, dog. Wow, all right. Shout out Rice University, per usual.
Starting point is 00:41:20 I'm trying to look at, are there any other Rice alumni? Because they used to be like a baseball power. Danny Lehman went to Rice, I believe. Anthony Rendon. Bench coach of the Dodgers. John DuPlanterier. Yeah, Jeff Neiman, you nailed that one. It was big boys coming out of,
Starting point is 00:41:40 Rice. They're beef fed. J.T. Shagawa. Oh. Your guy guy. Rice is like a smart school of JT. I didn't have him with the brains. Oh, no. Oh, no. High school alumnus, Trevor Plouffe. For my sprinkle, I mentioned again, I like to live a little more dangerously. Plus 1,400 to lead 2026. in regular season stolen bases? I'm going Ronald Cunia Jr. You just talked about him, Trev. We're unfortunately we're playing a health game,
Starting point is 00:42:20 which I will say if you're trying to keep a guy healthier, sometimes you try to keep him a little quieter on the bases. Ronald wasn't running last year. I'll tell you he was in 2023 when he stole 73 bases, and that was before the base running rules changed. No, that was the first year, wasn't it? Was 2023 the first year? We'll double check that.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Maybe it was. I thought it wasn't because I was like that. Either way. 73 is a lot of stolen bases. He's led the league in stolen bases twice. He did it in 2019. He did it in 2023. He is 28 years old.
Starting point is 00:42:55 And Trev, the potential stolen base whisperer has joined him in Atlanta. Antoine Richardson. Yeah. Who was the Mets. Supposedly he was the guy. that was really big in Soto stealing all those bases last year, what if I can combine whatever his superpower is
Starting point is 00:43:18 with Ronald Acuna Jr. So it's interesting because the other thing you're playing here, Ellie De La Cruz is the favorite. We all know Ellie. Ellie could put it out there. Chandler Simpson, like if the race play him every day, there's a good chance that guy gets it. But then you're just getting in the same kind of pile of,
Starting point is 00:43:39 pile of dudes, huh? Bobby Witt Jr., Corbyn Carroll, Caballero, C.J. Abrams, and then it's Ronald O'Cunia that I just think 2023 was the first year, so my bad on that. I don't know. You know that this guy has the talent to do that on his own? Well, what if Antoine Richardson is a cheat code
Starting point is 00:44:03 when it comes to stolen bases? Like if he got Soto a 40-banger? that's good it's a good point i don't know he's just picking the pitchers out man if ronald cunia junior has that same knowledge uh he could be back to 73 stolen bases pretty easily and then also if he's stealing a bunch of bases then his competition becomes himself that maybe he chases down that 73 i wonder what like is there a stolen base line out there would love to see what it is for ron lecunia that's that's great that's great like finding a little loop in there with Antonin Richardson.
Starting point is 00:44:42 That's what I'm saying. They could. If he's got the secret sauce, I know, and Ronnie's already looking pretty good. He was playing in the WBC, like, Evamo. Trev, it's time to hit him with the lock. You know, we could throw it all out there.
Starting point is 00:44:56 But the lock is the, it's what matters. It's, hey, this is what I'm putting out there on the table. Last year, you and I did great. You had the Red Sox to make the postseason. That happened. I had Cody Bellinger's over in batting average. Got there. Bang. This year, you got to lock in one bet. Coach Trev, what is it?
Starting point is 00:45:17 I'm going to do an over-under here. And this is another, you know, you talk about you see some lines and they just don't look right. And sometimes you're like, hey, that's fishy. What am I doing here? This one just seems flat out wrong to me. I'm locking in the San Diego Padres at over 83 and a half wins. I still just really, really like this roster. You know, we got to have a full year of Jack Samarrow. Like, everyone has to stay healthy because I don't know if there's like a ton of necessarily a depth going on there. But the roster that at the big league level is very, very good. I think the offense is going to be better than it was last year, especially we're talking
Starting point is 00:45:56 about homers, 28th in homers last year. I just don't see that happening again. So that means more runs. They're 18th and runs last year. I just see an uptick there. I know you can point to the starting pitching, but I think we're going to get enough innings out of those guys to where we can. turn it over to the best bullpen in the league.
Starting point is 00:46:14 And when we get leads at the end of the game, we are going to hold them. So at minus 1.15, you get the Padres to have 84 or more wins. It just seems like they're like at least an 88 win team, 93 and 90 the last two years. So I'm in on them. 90 in 2025 and the 93 and 2024. The line just seems too low for.
Starting point is 00:46:40 me. I think you can take advantage of this one. Everything about that lineup to me just screams like better this year. And again, to me, the biggest thing is, what are we going to do on those close games? Are we going to hold the victories with that bullpen?
Starting point is 00:46:56 We just saw Mason Miller. Like, what's going on with that guy is insane? I'm locking this one in. I'm all in on the Padres. I like it. The Padres last four-year speech. You know, 89 wins, 90 wins, 93 wins.
Starting point is 00:47:12 In 2023, which it was kind of their year with the most expectations. They won 82 games. That was a Soto year. I feel like that left too much of a stain on everyone's kind of view of the Padres. Because otherwise, they've been great. And I guess everything that went on with ownership, like there was a cloud hanging around the Padres that kind of ignored that they were just, they've been a great baseball team.
Starting point is 00:47:36 They were, of the past two years, they were the only team that really, Well, I guess the Blue Jays. But they were the team that gave the Dodgers the best series. Like they were right there up two to one. Yeah, I think you're right. I think for what they've been as a regular season team, I think how they have been as an organization, they deserve a little more respect than that, that I like it.
Starting point is 00:47:59 I also think they don't have, like, they're not trading anybody. These guys are locked up. Like, this is their team. I don't think there's a scenario where we're like, we're dishing out pieces right now. And I know this is an AJ Preller, lead team, so it seems a little bit crazy to say, I don't think they're going from the big league roster trading, at least important pieces.
Starting point is 00:48:18 I agree with you. I agree with me. Good pick, Trev, for anyone that's been listening to the show intently, or maybe you don't. Maybe it's a background show for you. Maybe you'd get some cleaning done around the house and you just want to listen to some voices. You've known where I'm going from the start. There's a couple ways you could skin this cat. because it's the same way.
Starting point is 00:48:43 I'll actually, because I was going to go with either to make the playoffs or I was just going to go with their wins over total. I've decided I like the wins over total, just a little more, just in case the NL takes off this year. It gives me a little more insurance on it. It's the Milwaukee Brewers, people. It is insane. The level of respect or lack of respect this franchise gets treated with.
Starting point is 00:49:05 The over-under is 84.5. and this is going to be the last time I give this speech, people, before the season happens. So here we go. Last year they won 97. I'll go in order. 97, 93, 92, 86, 95. 2020. They were only allowed to win so many games.
Starting point is 00:49:26 2019, 89, 2018, 1986, 2017, 86. Since 2017 in a full season, this team has not been under that total. Like, their 86 win 2022 is that team's like, oh, they had to remember trade and hater and, I don't know, these brewers, who gives a bleep? Caught myself there. That got close.
Starting point is 00:50:01 They won 97 games last year. They were the best team. They won 90 the past three years. And I think their wrestling, is still getting fine-tuned. The amount of pitching talent arms they have to potentially tap into this year is scary.
Starting point is 00:50:21 This might be their best starting pitching staff they've had in a long time. Could be their best lineup. And those other years, they still find a way to win 90 games. It's ridiculous. Pat Murphy will literally kill somebody if they start to lose too much,
Starting point is 00:50:36 so you got that going for you too. Like, what if they got a good start last year? We're talking about this team winning like a hundred and four. five games. It's, it's incredible that the world has not figured this out yet. It's my current investing plan that, um, I want to say, I'm on this as well. You, I just let you take it. You are on this as well and you did let me take it. I'll give you a half lock on it. Um, so that's good. So that's our, I mean, that's, that's that. And I think I appreciate Rob, Rob changed my picture on the fly in there. Uh, we got a different.
Starting point is 00:51:12 team baggage picture going on, boing, boing. Those will be on the graphic. The other thing, the other part of this world, if you're here, you're here, if you're not, welcome to the future. We're going to look at some of the season-long baseball markets presented by fanatics markets. This is the whole new world.
Starting point is 00:51:33 Trade, trading, predict probability, outcomes. You know, Trev, you and I come from the world of silver stock and things of that nature. That, again, for some of you that have been in this world, this is brand new for you. We're kind of similar that we're right in the wave on this. That as you guys have probably known or seen, this is a really good way to check out kind of how people are viewing each,
Starting point is 00:52:00 how do I say, the NL and the AL. And again, you can trade on this people. It's a whole new world that we're going to find out on our way there. I guess, Trev, I want to look at the AL for a second. second, because the way they have this listed out, and you can also, the part of this that I like, if you just have a no on a team, you can also go on the no side, which not a lot of places offer that market-wise. In the ALE, it has Seattle as the one, Detroit, the Yankees, the Blue Jays, the Red Sox, and then the Orioles. I guess if you were shaking that up,
Starting point is 00:52:36 how would you shake it up? I think it would have the Blue Jays higher. I don't mind the Mariners at number one, I think they have a complete roster. I mean, the moves that they made, I was locked in on some Mariners podcast just yesterday. Yeah, you were. I really was. They have depth, man, and they have like a lot of different types of like puzzle pieces.
Starting point is 00:52:58 So like one thing doesn't work. They have, that doesn't make any sense, not puzzle pieces. They got pieces that fit everywhere. So in case one of the pieces is gone, they can just plug in something else. I just kind of like their roster flexibility.
Starting point is 00:53:10 ability puzzle pieces was a bad. That was bad. Analogy because if you put a puzzle piece in the wrong spot, right? Yeah, it's almost opposite of puzzle pieces. Yeah, exactly. What would that be? Just squares, tiles?
Starting point is 00:53:24 Just tiles, yeah, magnet tiles. Shout out. Love magnet tiles. They're expensive, though. I don't mind the Mariners at the top, but I think I'd have the, I think I would have the Blue Jays second, Yankees, third.
Starting point is 00:53:37 And then I would put the Red Sox and then the Tigers. Not that I don't love the Tigers and their chances to get to the playoffs. I have them winning the A.L. Central. But I think the Red Sox and the Blue Jays are underrated in this marketplace. Yeah, I'll be interested to see how it unfolds this year. Because I haven't tracked something like this over the season because literally the prices can go up and down. That how I'm viewing it and I'm kind of breaking what I offered you.
Starting point is 00:54:05 The Texas Rangers being so low that like, if that rotation gets going, even the excitement, and that's what I think can be the cool part about these probability in markets, is like, hey, if the Rangers get out hot and the top four in that rotation looks special, I think you might be able to get out of there, get out of there feeling good whenever you want.
Starting point is 00:54:31 But at the top, yeah, I guess for you and me, I think we're the opposite on the Tigers. I just think they're going to walk into the postseason. So I want to see what that feels. like. The one team he didn't even mention, which is kind of as Brewers-esque for us on this show, as the Cleveland Guard Dogs.
Starting point is 00:54:48 Yeah, it's always the Cleveland Guard Dogs. That's a problem. They won the AL Central last year. They won 88 games. I know. I know it. I know. They do it every,
Starting point is 00:54:59 you know I'm in a weird spot with them. And I don't know what to do with that. Coach, let's talk about our NL brethren a little bit with potential NL winners here. And yeah, the Dodgers are kind of the elephant in the room. I mean, as big of a number you're going to see on everything, that after the Dodgers, it's the Mets, which I think the people know where I stand on that.
Starting point is 00:55:20 Philly's Braves, which that might not be up to date with after the Strider News today. I guess amongst those teams, how would you reshuffle or which one stands out? I think there are some teams. You got to think, like, who can overtake the Dodgers and win the NL pennant. I think there's only probably a handful of teams. Not even a handful, Jake. Because how many is in a handful? We've got to figure that out, people.
Starting point is 00:55:46 Because my hands are bigger than some other people's hands. You've got big mitts. Thanks for pointing that out. I think the Phillies are a team that could do it. I think the Cubs are a team that could do it. I'll put the Brewers, although we saw them last year, have a chance and not really take advantage of their chance. Other than that, yeah, you have the, I go, so I guess I would say Mets, Phillies, Cubs, Brewers.
Starting point is 00:56:14 Is that the only teams you put in that category? Philly's Cubs and Brewers jumped out to me. I think those are, those are the teams that I think at the end of this season we're going to be saying like, hey, you know, we saw the Brewers do this last year, but come October, it didn't mean much. Like, the Phillies are geared up for another one. Or this Cubby's team. I just think day in, day out what that lineup is going to be that I think there, again, I love my NL Central this year. Yeah, I think those are the teams that stand out.
Starting point is 00:56:47 And yeah, you know, being straight up with the people, this is a new world to us that if you think you're interested, check out the fanatics market, available now in App Stores. And yeah, we're going to find out if this is going to be a fun lane for us. And if I can add this to kind of my Milwaukee retirement plan, because then I will. All right, all right. Coach, we got more ball to talk. And it starts off with one of our favorite players to talk about.
Starting point is 00:57:14 I mean, you get credit. You kind of brought this guy more so on the map for me. From a guy to a dude to one of the best players in this league. It's our best Western traveler check-in. We highlight an on-the-move player from this off-season, but this guy ain't going on the move anywhere. He's staying in Philadelphia. Christopher Sanchez extended by the Phillies six years, $107 million.
Starting point is 00:57:41 Part of it is part of that original deal. If you thought Christopher Sanchez had an extension, he kind of did, bought out the Arbiers. Well, now he's going to be staying a lot longer, coach, one of the best players in the league. How about that? Yeah, this is how, you know, you look at that Phillies team and you can say, hey, like, they're aging, that core. But when you got guys like this and you're extending them, Now you have him, you have Hesars Lozardo, you just have, you're continuing that window,
Starting point is 00:58:10 you're widening that window, if you will. I love this for the Phillies. And they did. They already had them on a four-year, $22.5 million deal that had two club options for 29 and in 2030. Basically, you know, they wanted to add two more years onto it. And they wanted to guarantee that money. It was kind of a due right by the Phillies, which you don't.
Starting point is 00:58:34 you don't see a lot. You don't see a lot around, but you do. It's not unprecedented. And I talked about early in the show, a guy I wanted to talk about Jim Bowden's out here saying, this sets a bad precedent for clubs because he already signed a deal. And now what? Players are going to say, well, I'm outperforming my deal.
Starting point is 00:58:53 I want new money. That's not what happened here. The Phillies wanted him for longer, and they went out and did it. And he said, okay, if you want 2031 and 2032, do, then let's restructure the deal and get these things guaranteed. That's essentially what happened. We've seen it. We saw Sal Perez, go look at his original deal, the royals gave him.
Starting point is 00:59:15 They restructured that deal. Jose Altuva is another guy that comes to mine where it was a due right deal. So the Phillies are doing things the right way. And Sanchez obviously earned this money. But this is, again, just kind of when you can keep together a rotation, that's kind of what sets up your team for success. I think the Phillies, I mean, we're going to be talking about them for the foreseeable future, coach. I mean, at least through 2030, we're going to be talking about the Phillies being a team that's going to be in the mix, in the NL for the NL pennant.
Starting point is 00:59:49 So this is, this is awesome for everybody involved. Yeah, man, Phillies, a lot of money in that rotation. Wheeler, Nola, Lazzardo Sanchez, all getting over $100 million. a few of those guys, you know, Nola, 172 million. Big year for him coming up to see how that feels like. And yeah, man, I don't know. I know you've wanted more beef. Like, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:00:13 If you look at Dumbrowski v. Bowden's resume as GMs, I don't know. You can do with that what you want. Three out of nose quick there. The comments will let me know about that. Chris, it feels easy. It feels right. Like you talked about how tall it seemed he got that if listeners to our show don't watch him,
Starting point is 01:00:35 they just look for the tall, skinny guy. Another WBC stud. Another guy that if you want to go best pitches in baseball, his sinker and change-up have arguments for that. Like the guy is a special pitcher. We did our Cy Young drafts with Eno, and we talked about how lefties can be cheat codes, just because you don't see as much of them.
Starting point is 01:00:56 You don't see lefties that tall with that good as stuff. with that good of location, that it just feels so easy that you have to love what the Phillies are doing, and you have to love that this core is going to be there. It's something we've complained about as a problem with baseball. If you're a Phillies fan and you want to watch Sanchez, Lazzardo, Schwerber, Nola, and Harper through 2031, that's pretty damn cool because there's not a lot of teams that can say that, and there's probably a couple teams that are mad that they can't have four guys in their rotation with $100 million contracts
Starting point is 01:01:28 because their team doesn't do that. I think there's also like, you know, feather in the cap about developing a pitcher like this, not going out and trading for one and bringing them into your organization, but already doing it. And Sanchez, since 2023, when he became like a starter full-time,
Starting point is 01:01:44 143 ERA plus. He's a guy that keeps the ball in the ballpark, which you love. It just, there's so much to like about him. And I think another thing that you can look at and why they wanted to maybe extend him and give him those extra years.
Starting point is 01:01:59 There's just not a lot of innings on his arm. Right. Not a lot of wear and tear on it. So you're like, okay, like we can see this continuing. It's not like hit age 30 and go down because he's thrown so much. I think they're also banking on that as well. Christopher Sanchez with the Phillies. We're staying at Best Western.
Starting point is 01:02:18 Life's a trip. Make the most of it with Best Western. And coach, kind of our final thing for today's episode. for a lot of our listeners. I mean, we're checking the boxes. It's baseball season. Maybe you're placing some bets. Maybe you're getting a new contract.
Starting point is 01:02:33 I don't know. Maybe going to work. Treves been asking. Trev's looking for that extension. There was some talk in Miami, Southbish. That's right. The final thing for a lot of our listeners, and it was eye-opening for me.
Starting point is 01:02:52 I started playing in COVID. It's a big part. of baseball and the growth of this game. MLB, the show is back. in last week's 2026 ratings reveal. Let's dive into some players brought to you by MLB the show. If you're playing, you're probably already jazzed up. We're going to do a little fun game where I'm going to test the coach a little bit and we're going to be raw because that's what we're the best at. Okay, Jake, calm down. Trev, they came out with their ratings. I know you and Rosie were doing a little bit of this.
Starting point is 01:03:26 I wanted to do a little MLB the show Coach Trev, and I'm going to give you two players, and I'm going to ask you who's ranked higher. Trevor, let's go with, okay, you like power, right? That's what you have. Power is power. Power is power. Oh, we're almost there, baby.
Starting point is 01:03:48 What about Eugenio Suarez? There's some power there. and Raphael Devers. Who do you think MLB the show has rated higher this year? I don't like that you started here because I think this is a no-brainer for me. I think it's got to be Raphael Devers. I think maybe I'm thinking about ballpark this year.
Starting point is 01:04:06 Is ballpark factor part of this? Now you got me thinking a little bit. I'll go Raphael Devers. Raphael Devers rated in 81. Eugenio Suarez in 82. I knew you were trying to trick me there. Well, no, it's funny for me that I have them in front of me. I have to figure out how to deliver them
Starting point is 01:04:27 that you don't know my pattern of who's higher, who's lower. So Jake's want to know. Let's play with your heartstrings a little bit, Trevor Plouffe. And let's keep it with one of our favorite teams. Christian Yelich versus William Contreras. Oh, wow. Teammates, huh? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:47 Christian Yelich, William Contreras. Thinking, Pence. I'm going William Contreras. It is William Contreras. Yes. He's coming in at 83. Yellies at an 82. Man, the Contreras brothers,
Starting point is 01:05:09 fighting for playing time on that team Venezuela was pretty eye-opening how good they were. But all of us were just like, Venezuela's good. Oh, I've got a gnarly one for you, Trev. Nico Horner versus Bo Bichette Wow, okay two completely different
Starting point is 01:05:31 types of games yeah one offensive one defensive what is the what is the show what are they thinking about that I feel like the show
Starting point is 01:05:43 has got to be more offensively inclined as I've heard from shelf that sometimes is really hard to hit And actually I played it and it is hard to hit It can be thinking I got it I don't got it I'm going Boba Shett
Starting point is 01:05:58 Nico Horner and 84 Boba Chet and 80 Trace Okay Nico Horner gets the nod by the show Interesting That's a Nico Horner's agent Should bring in MLB in the show For his upcoming free agency
Starting point is 01:06:13 If that's how we're viewing it Let's start climbing the board a little more Bing Bong Tyler Glassnow versus Blake Snell Friends of ours. Blake Snell. Wow, right off the rip. You're right.
Starting point is 01:06:29 Snell 87, Glassnow 86. Wow, I have glass all that high, huh? Yeah, I was... I don't... Did they take into count injuries? Because Snell's not starting the year... I mean, for both of them, they have their own thing going on. Maybe it's our lefty effect we've been talking about for baseball.
Starting point is 01:06:46 What's up with that? All right. I think for my last one, I want to give you a scare. let's what's going to throw you into a tizzy okay this is beautiful mason miller versus ronald a cunia junior oh wow love this one okay how good is you're good for both of these cats i am
Starting point is 01:07:10 i'm a guy that's going to say this no matter what position players just mean more like you're playing every day both sides of the ball but mason miller is that freaking good Is that good? I'll be disappointed if Ronald CUNY is lower than Mason Miller. I'm going Ronald CUNY Jr. Ronald CUNY Jr. is an 87 overall. Mason Miller's in 89.
Starting point is 01:07:38 It's tough. There's a reason I asked that one. How the hell do you compare those two guys and what they do on a baseball field? I think there's only four guys rated higher than Mason Miller. Five, excuse me. If you want to find those out, go check out and play MLB the show. 26, available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox series S and X, Nintendo Switch.
Starting point is 01:08:00 It's rated E for everyone. And yeah, a little Jakey side note, and people that have been on the ride with us throughout the years. Yeah, I hadn't played baseball video games in a long time, just because I didn't like hitting was brutal. And don't get me wrong, it's tough in the show. It's a really good product, what they do with the player cards and stuff, and how it allows kids to learn players in the game, and how it highlights guys.
Starting point is 01:08:25 It's one of MLB's best products. I think they know. But I was kind of blown away that it was, you know, it was teaching history lessons. It's talking about prospects. Like I knew Colson Montgomery from MLB of the show basically before I knew him as a real-life prospect. So if you're a gamer and you haven't been in it,
Starting point is 01:08:47 if you're a gamer and you already know, I'm excited for you. I know our guy, Shelfy is too. Make sure you go check out his stuff. A grindy episode, people. A grindy episode. Shout out to Dalt for putting a sheet together. Rob Chorocko producing his butt off.
Starting point is 01:09:03 Coach Trevor Plouf, myself. Team Profile and Projections 1 and 2 are out tomorrow. And then Wednesday morning, are we just getting the hype train going? Wow. We'll see you there. Thank you guys. Can I tell you something? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:21 Bryce Trang followed me on Instagram. Wow, that's big. Big one. Two Kelly guys. Yeah. Talix. Arms sleeve. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:31 Yeah. Tries to hide it every once in a while with the actual sleeves. But then when he's feeling frisky, he takes it out. He had some hand ink, too, right? Yeah. Corona. Be interested. Kelly.
Starting point is 01:09:47 Yeah. Love you, Ryan Kirkring. I love you so much. Big year.
