Hello and welcome to Talking Baseball.
Basically a breaking news up.
We got a PD suspension for ProFAR, an extension for crochet.
Freddie fell in the shower, Sacramento baseball.
We're going to talk ball.
That's what we do.
Fell in the shower.
What is that?
Anybody throwing it's a torpedo bat.
I got to get me one of them.
I might make it to the league.
Hello and welcome to Talking Baseball, your number one,
Thick Bat podcast.
Jake Thickham's story, Ellie, Trevor Long bat blue.
I don't like that.
That's got to stop.
That's got to stop.
I think people are almost over the torpedo bat.
I hope so.
Actually, I don't know, dude.
Did you see, like, Ellie did it last night?
I know.
Ellie's like, I've never heard of this bat.
Four for five, two homers.
It's like, oh, boy.
Let's see where that goes.
We're not talking a lot about that.
because we do have some other news.
Trevor Plouffe, how are you?
Me and Brunt Honeywell are
Brent Honeywell are having a discussion on IG.
I'm letting them know.
Let me just finish the torpedo bag discussion.
Okay, let's just, I'm doing great.
Right here.
Thank you.
You're doing great.
Let's finish it.
It's just another bat.
There's axe handles, there's flared knobs,
there's tapered knobs.
There's big barrels, there's skinny barrels,
there's fat handles,
there's skinny handles,
there's length, there's weight.
This is the thing.
Pitchers haven't picked up these POs,
these pitcher onlys,
haven't picked up a bat and so on.
They forgot there's all sorts of bat models.
This is just another iteration of a bat model, dude.
Go pick up a C-243 and then go pick up a C-271
and tell me what the difference is.
They feel like completely different things.
This is the same.
It's just a different iteration of a bat.
That's it.
Done with the talking of it.
about it. You start talking bat models and my blood is flowing. Um, and I, I did have a laugh. We did
talking yanks this morning and we interviewed Booney and, you know, the fat bats were, were a topic.
And, uh, he was like, yeah, he's like, you know, this, this is nothing crazy. He's just like,
he said the exact same thing you did. He's like, you know, back when I played, I, you just
picked up a bat if it felt good. You said, all right. Let's go hit. Um, this has a little more
technology on it. Take that pitchers.
Yeah.
We're here.
It is just going to be funny.
It is, not an organizational head tilt,
but hearing like Ellie and the Reds hadn't heard of it,
you're like, oh.
Like, come on, fellas.
I don't.
These were in the league last year.
They don't care.
Right.
You see the year Ellie had last year?
He doesn't care.
Yeah, that's true.
Well, we're looking for more.
And my Reds are hot, hot, hot.
They are hot.
My twins, not, not, not.
Matt McLean, is he back?
Let's talk about that in a minute
because we need to talk about
Atlanta Brace.
Talk about as bad of a start to the season as you can get.
And Jurekson Profar is suspended for 80 games for PEDs.
It's brought you by MLB 9 innings.
Today's episode, sponsored by MLB 9 innings.
a major league baseball game you can play in the palm of your hands.
A wide variety of game modes, league mode where users can play through a season
to live player versus player.
Nine innings has over 2,000 player cards to collect to build your dream roster.
Nine innings has also added new historic players to the game.
How about Adrian Beltray?
Kind of me and Trev's guy.
Derek Jeter.
Kind of me and Trev's guy.
Cho DiMaggio.
Yep.
Kirby Puckett, also our guy, Satchel Pade.
Is this just our list of favorite players?
Our friends.
It's all over friends, yeah.
There's an incredible trailer out that has Trout, Griffey, and Maddox in it.
Go check that out at MLB 9 innings official YouTube.

Trev, your reaction to this.
Because with every PED suspension, there's obviously that slow negative head shake you just did.
But a couple more moving parts to this one.
I hate it, Coach.
I mean, that's the reaction.
I hate it.
End the story.
I don't understand it either.
I guess there's a couple different ways we can start talking about it.
Like, what does this mean for the Braves?
Obviously, this was their big offseason acquisition.
He's going to miss half the year.
He's not going to be eligible for the postseason.
Who knows if he's going to be the same player?
So, yeah, now they have to wait for Acuna.
They signed Alex Verdugo a week ago.
So maybe he steps in, like, Kelnick, Brian De LaCruz.
Like, this was the guy they wanted out there in left field to play and set it and forget it.
It's not going to be that way anymore.
So they have to figure some stuff out.
It's been a bad start for the Braves.
We all know that.
They haven't hit it at all.
And this is just compounds it.
Chris Rose is at the yard yesterday.
They're playing the Dodgers.
He had some stuff that do.
And he's like, that was an interesting time to be around the Atlanta Braves.
Here's my main takeaway
And I've been through this situation before
Look
Put your
Big Brain on
Do you have one?
You don't
Maybe borrow Robbie Soraka's big brain
I don't know
Okay
Do you know like ProFar stats
Before last year?
They're not great coach
I have them up if you want
Right
He was he was
I mean he started slow
He ended up being like
Around average
And it was like, okay, yeah, for a...
702 OPS, like 90s plus.
And then last year, all of a sudden, age 31, he goes bananas.
He goes off.
It's the most homers of his career.
His average exit velocity jumped from 86.5, which is like not good, to 91.1, which is good.
Above league average.
His hard hit rate went from 31.8% to 44.4%.
I don't not say this happened for sure, but like, you know,
logically you're thinking like clearly like this was something that was going on last year okay
and players are going to continue to do this because look what happened he goes and has that year
and the the thing he got pot for is like a masking agent that's i don't know i don't know about steroids
guys i'm cleanest guy in baseball clean this guy in baseball right goes out and has that year
signs the deal three years 42 12 15 15
15 next three years, boom, why are you still taking this?
What are you doing?
That is guaranteed.
That's the most like, I'm not even talking about like, yeah, obviously he shouldn't have done it.
I hate it more than anything.
You're taking opportunities away from guys that are doing it the right way.
But just like in my mind, what are you doing still taking it?
Right.
Like, or is it just lingering in his system?
I don't know the answers to that.
But like, if he was still taking it, what is you?
doing baby you the money's guaranteed no matter what kind of player you are i don't i don't know man
this stuff really pisses me off and i've been close to these situations many different times
and uh every time i feel the exact same way like honestly is all i feel earmuffs fuck you
do you know how many guys are battling for jobs every spring training working their ass off
every off season to try to get an opportunity to play at the major league level and then you got guys
that are cheating the system.
Like that's bullshit, dude.
It's supposed to be a brotherhood.
Like, you get in the pro ball, it's a fucking brotherhood, man.
And you're stabbing your brother in the back
because you want to make some money
because you can't do it on your own.
Like, that's what pisses me off more than anything, dude.
So, I don't know.
There's a lot to unpack here, but those are my initial thoughts, Jake.
No, you nailed a lot of it.
It's tough.
because it was one of last year's kind of best stories.
It was, you know, jerks and pro far, almost start to finish
was one of the best outfielers in the National League.
There was a San Diego twist to this, too, that it was like,
well, San Diego's where he had his best years,
and was that connected to the team?
Is that, I guess we start daydreaming the stuff fans want to daydream about.
Like, he fits in better with the locker room there.
or he likes playing with those guys or something.
And, yeah, it just puts a damper on what was an incredible 2024.
He was a free agent this offseason that we're like,
man, you don't see a lot of guys break out at 31,
and it just puts the whole thing, it's gone.
The whole thing is gone now.
And, yeah, man, to be a new guy on the team,
to show up to the Braves, play four games.
and now, hey, I'll see you in 80 games or so.
That's just, it's a bizarre thing.
The Braves, literally everything has gone as close to worst case scenarios you could ask for.
And yeah, man, I think we just all wanted, you know, the real baseball sweats that listen to this show.
We've talked about it, but this guy was a huge prospect, and it didn't click.
And I think, I feel like our society has taken a growth, like a growing step from,
I feel like people used to almost get their jollies off about that a little bit.
Like, oh, top prospect doesn't make it.
I think we've gotten to a better place of like, well, this sport's really tough.
And you want guys to succeed.
And ProFar was just in this weird area of like, I don't know.
Okay, so he's become an average major leaguer.
We like that.
And then it's like, hey, maybe everyone.
was right and here he is and he gets the millions of dollars and that's all out the window it's it's
very very disappointing so i mean they're gonna have to figure things out down there again they have
they have some options they haven't had great corner outfield options as of late down there in
alana that's why they went out and got him i think they're going to be okay they're going to hit
um but you know this couple with rinaldo lopez going on the the i l like there's just
It's not fun times right now for Atlanta.
But pro far, man, yeah, it's just, yeah, I too.
I got caught up in the story last year, Jay.
Hey, Mr. Irrelevant, you know, like, hey, man, Will Smith,
why you got to be like that, you know, and it seemed like, yes,
he fit in and just felt comfortable in a clubhouse and just kind of played loosely.
And, you know, it was a success story.
People were rooting for this guy.
We made t-shirts for him.
Right.
And, you know, like he denies it.
I unknowingly put something in my body.
I can't, man.
Like, I, I'm sorry.
Like, if you get popped, I'm not, I can't believe that.
I've just, it's been too many guys that have said that don't really mean it.
So I almost would respect him more if you would just be like, yeah, bro, I did it.
And look at me.
I got 35 mil coming my way.
You know, minus five or six.
Still got it.
Like, I don't know.
Maybe I'd respect them more.
I probably wouldn't.
but.
Yeah, I don't think.
It's, I think, what do we?
I don't know.
More respect probably isn't the right.
That's probably not the right term.
The right term.
Yeah, he's, he's not paid for this suspension.
It looks like he's going to lose close to $6 million.
So, hey, I mean, that's a bit of punishment there.
This is the thing.
I mean, you have to do a thought exercise here.
I know that's not your forte, coach, but it's not.
It's with you today.
I'm all over you.
What kind of ball is?
Does that?
Is that T-Mobile Homer Bowl?
Yeah, this is a home run derby ball.
You wouldn't know.
You know what, Jake?
You graduated from Central Connecticut.
Yeah.
So, more educated than I am.
Yeah.
Would you tarnish your name a little bit to make 36 million bucks?
I feel like I do that every day.
Would you tarnish your name a little bit?
Not going to jail.
Right.
Nothing really happens.
Do you actually just get to go sit at home?
Yeah, I mean,
I was, it's funny you say that.
I was ironically running through my head like,
I don't know, I think I'd get in the gym
and like come back like roped up.
People like, what does this guy doing?
I got three months to basically
stay and shit.
I honestly don't even know.
Like I think he has to go,
he'll probably go to the spring training facility.
I believe I think he can do that.
Maybe, maybe not.
I got to look into that.
But then you get to start playing minority games
as you ramp up.
Right.
I don't know, man.
It's going to continue to happen because of we see stories like this, man.
Like guys that are hanging on and they just say, you know what, whatever.
And again, like, everybody listening to this.
Would you, would you tarnish your name a little bit?
36 mils.
What he got?
Some real money.
Would I do it?
No.
Right.
No need.
I know the answer to that.
Happy man.
happy happy family i want my kids googling my name and being like what what happened dad right that's
that's me though rob according to a i jerks and pro far cannot be at the alanta brave spring
training facility during his suspension is this guy gonna go to cabo what's he gonna do right hey i'm
i'm training in the dr training cursal this guy might go to europe and take a little
vacay with that money.
So wait, you're telling me I don't have to work for three months and I get and I got 36
coming to me.
36 is coming no matter what.
I'm thinking about becoming the dirtiest man in the game.
No, hey, we make our jokes.
There's always a ripple effect going back into free agency and we talked about, you know,
if kind of a mad team signed pro far, we would have been like, that's risky, the brave
sign them and we're like great signing.
and yeah, what other corner outfielders could have gotten that 36-mill?
Also, the brave signing of Alex Verdugo looks like he's going to end up in the mix quickly,
and we'll see what he looks like after a tough finish to his Yankee run.
And I think they just traded for my guy, Stuart Fairchild.
Watch a bad day to be a baseball around Stu.
So, okay.
I mean,
Connor Gillespie
got designated for assignment
when they brought in
Dirksen profile.
It sucks for him.
What are you thinking
if you're waking up
and you're seeing this
if you're Connor Gillespie?
Yeah.
Like that's the side of this.
You know,
like there's just guys trying to
beat down the walls
in AAA that are,
you know,
trying to get a freaking opportunity
and you're taking it from them.
Yeah.
And illegally taking it from them.
It sucks.
It sucks.
Luckily, Trev, we have good news
because we have a guy getting paid paid
more than any fourth year starting pitcher
has ever gotten paid.
I thought that was just kind of a funny way to phrase it.
Garrett Crochet, Red Sox Ace,
they made the trade to go get him.
It felt impactful,
and it feels even more impactful
because he signs a six-year deal
for 170 million.
The deal starts in 2026 and includes an opt-out after the 2030 season.
No deferrals.
Take that, Dodgers.
That's how Boston does it, huh?
Two million per year escalators in the later years for some Cy Young finishes.
And yeah, the guy that kind of got you excited for the Red Sox's upcoming season.
It felt like a significant change from the Red Sox the last three to five seasons.
They've locked him up and they've got their ace that looks apart.
Yeah, I mean, this, I love it for the Red Sox.
I love what they're doing.
Like they signed Bregman to a long-term deal.
Obviously Devers is there, although right now struggle busts.
It's okay, Dev will be all right.
Do I need to do a sequence and fix him like I did Gary Sanchez?
A special app?
Mm-mm.
You don't want that?
Garrett Cole's not even pitching for you guys.
It's fine.
I did see there's a funny tweet that was like he lost his like yin to his yang with
Garrett Cole being out for the season.
He lost,
Devers lost his powers.
Damn,
that's four homers.
I'm losing this year.
Good internet.
They're talking to Christian Campbell right now about an extension apparently.
They're deep into talks,
something you've never been.
But this was the plan.
That's three.
I'm coming for you at some point.
I don't know when.
I'm coming at you.
That's it.
I'm feeling frisky, man.
Good.
This was the plan all along.
You don't trade for a guy like this and then not extend him.
Like that's,
this was the plan.
And, you know,
I was talking to Chris Rose about this and you asked the question,
is this risky for the Red Sox?
Hell yeah,
it's risky.
I mean,
224 innings pitched in this guy's career.
First year as a starter last year.
You know,
it hasn't gone the full season.
I don't think he's pitched in the postseason as a starter.
I know he's pitching the postseason
as a reliever with the white socks
he's had Tommy John once
so again you could kind of look at that as a good thing
like he's already gotten it done
but you look at the guy's savant
you look at the guy you know as he's pitching
and he looks like a freaking ace man
he looks the part so they're taking a chance here
and I absolutely love despite their
I believe they're one in four on the season
despite their poor start I still really believe in this team
and, you know, crochet is obviously going to be a huge part of it.
Although I did see, there was no no trade clause, which is kind of shocking to me.
Usually this deal like this comes with at least a limited no trade clause.
Right.
Yeah, sometimes some details like that will leak afterwards,
even if it's like the five team no trade clause or something like that.
But yeah, I want to talk more about the workload and career starts and career innings
because it might shock people a little bit.
And I think we're probably going to land on both sides of the coin,
but I do want to hear your thoughts on it.
And it's all brought to you by DirecTV.

Trev, I, I love the, I love what you said about Bregman and it could be Campbell by the
next episode, like, well, the fact that something like that gets out, it almost makes you wonder
it's, you'd like to think it's pretty close, otherwise why, why dangle that carrot in front of
the kid who won the second base job and is now starting every day?
224 career major league innings
Okay
I mean they've been pretty damn good
224
Major League innings
I want to say the starts
It's 33 career starts
So
He's put up one season
One full season of a starter
Right like this is
This used to be a
1999
Back in your day
You're right
We took the ball
to the eighth.
I don't know.
Again, I guess if you have more of a deciding thing,
because I could tell the people how, like,
well, he hasn't racked up innings,
and maybe that's the smart move for Boston.
And like you said with the Tommy John,
he's got one out of the way,
he should be good to go for the next 1,200 innings.
Or, I mean, I'll knock on wood,
because I'm not doing this Yankees, Boston BS,
but, like, you know, the next crochet injury,
things
start to multiply a little bit.
I'm not saying it's happening.
He's 25.
I love this signing.
With low mileage.
I think that's how you have to think about this.
Okay.
So that's where you land.
Kind of.
I mean, look, yeah, TJ, the way they do it now,
the way that procedure has gone,
I mean, guys recover from that very well.
So he's gone through that.
He's done that.
Again, only 224 career innings on his arm.
You have to be thinking.
If you're in the Red Sox front office,
it's like, this is, we're getting a used car,
but like zero miles on it.
You know, I got, let me tell.
This, Gera Crochet is like this.
My first ever car was a Mercury Mystique, tan.
About as basic a car as you can have,
it just looked like a car, like an emoji car.
It just was nothing.
Used to rattle when I would, when it would idle,
it would rattle.
It was a horrible car.
That was my first car.
And then my great aunt,
passed away and left a Cadillac, 1993 Cadillac DeVille, she left it to my grandparents,
and they gave it to me. Do you know how many miles that 93 had on it in 2004?
8,000.
6,000 miles on it.
It's a brand new car, just barely got broken in.
I had that thing.
It was badass, dude.
That's what you have to be thinking, like, hey, yeah, it's used a little bit, but it's basically
brand new.
and we can sign this guy and have them
and they've needed an ace.
They got an ace.
That's how I see this.
I love it for them.
And for crochet, my goodness, dude.
Right.
There's, hold on, here's a stat.
Let me read this to you.
Just real quick, got to get it up.
Struggle with that?
No, no.
No pitcher has ever signed for that much money
with fewer than 800 innings pitched.
crochet has 224.
So,
geez, maybe last year
worked when he was like,
I'm not pitching the postseason.
Right?
I don't know, it worked.
Right?
Like, yeah, that goes back to the,
you know, I know we just did a little bit of this
with ProFar, but, you know,
I think there's a lot of unks on the couch
that were like, you know, those crochet quotes,
oh, I'm not pitching out of the bullpen.
and I'm not doing this and that
and the postseason, blah, blah, blah.
And, you know, I get it.
That doesn't hit your favorite sports court,
but also, Garrett Crochet's next eight generations
are taken care of.
The crochets forever?
Like, that's crazy money.
That's insane, dude.
Gosh.
Dude, what's the size?
He's done the cutter a little bit more this year,
which is interesting.
Last year,
he threw it 28.5% of the time.
This year,
obviously it's one start,
but 48.9% of the time.
And his four-scene fastball
has been his bread and butter
at 21 run value,
positive run value last year for him.
But the usage is down,
at least through the first start.
I'm curious to see what they do with him.
Like,
what kind of pitcher are you trying to make this guy?
Like,
are we going to see them now
say, hey, man,
like you're our ace.
Like,
we need you throughout this.
season, so this is what we think that you can do.
Like, I think maybe last year he still had somewhat of a reliever mentality.
He wasn't going long into games.
And now, like, maybe Boston will take him and say, this is what we want you to do.
This is how we're going to, you know, maximize your value, if you will.
We'll see.
Yeah.
Yeah, what do they value?
Do you just see his recent performance and you say, go do that every day and the
contract's worth it?
Or, yeah, do you start prioritizing different things?
I see why you started with the cutter.
It's been interesting to watch, you know,
as we kind of came away from the three true outcomes
and bullpen's just getting worn out by the end of the season.
Starting pitchers have made a note of it, you know,
certain at-bats, you can attack early in the zone,
and if you get the weak fly-out or the weak chopper,
you might have just bought yourself two more batters later in the game,
and once those innings start racking up,
now you're helping yourself and the team.
This is crazy.
Okay.
Arm angle.
2023 was at 43 degrees, which is, you know, up here, higher.
2004 was down to 38, so he went lower.
2025, we're sitting at 32.
We saw Paul Skeens is doing this too.
I mean, that's what I'm going down a little bit, a little bit more ride on that four seamer.
Maybe it helps you throw the cutter.
I don't know.
A little more ride on the four.
And could it potentially?
could it take a little off the elbow in the shoulder?
Could it be worse for the elbow?
I don't know.
We're not the guys for that.
That's those are the MIT.
You're not that guy?
Those are the MIT thickback guys.
I don't, I still don't have...
I still don't have the throwing answers, man.
I'd say once a week.
I'm like, how do we...
You know, we went to South by Southwest,
and they were just like talk baseball.
And I was like, okay.
Just just...
Just aim wide then.
As with Moylan and, yeah, the pitching thing,
it's still, there's just no answer.
The throw harder get outs.
Anyways, we'll have plenty of time to discuss that.
All right, Coach, Trev.
We got a couple fun slash not fun quick hitters for you.
Freddie, Freddie Freeman and the undefeated Dodgers who keep rolling.
Freddie was scratched from the game slips in the shower
Are you calling funny business there?
What were you saying?
I mean, obviously we have our jokes like,
What were you doing in a shower, Freddie?
Those are our jokes.
That's your mind run with that, if you will.
But I think, I don't know.
I guess anyone that's ever taking a shower understands
it could be a little slippery in there.
That's, it's unfortunate that this has happened.
But I feel like, you know, a little too much conditioner left by the person that's
showered before you on the bottom of your shower.
Like doesn't rinse.
Maybe the drain needs to be unplugged a little bit.
So fully flushes down.
I don't know what it is.
But here's one thing I know.
Freddie's going to be okay.
Although he's been dealing with like ankle stuff, hasn't he?
Like quite often.
I mean, that's the, if you wanted, I think you were going funny business another way.
this could be Dodgers funny business of, you know,
Oh, you think they're making this up?
No, no, no, no, no.
I think something's up with Freddie's ankle.
I think he could have played again.
I think this is news because shower mishap
just makes people laugh a little bit internally
that these are the world-class athletes.
But 35-year-old Freddie, hey, come on now.
I was just trying to Google.
I was trying to see.
if this happened at the team shower or if this happened at home?
I think I saw it was home.
Okay.
Three for 12 this year, two homers.
He's one dot in it.
If any team could be okay with an injury to an MVP,
it's the Dodgers who have a plethora of them.
Yeah.
But this is obviously something you have to monitor
because I don't hate that you're saying,
hey, maybe this was something up,
something different.
Maybe that's a little bit more serious
and they just kind of are putting that out there in the world that it's a simple thing.
And then it kind of, you've seen, we've seen that before where it turns into something more.
Hopefully that is not the case.
I love watching Freddie play.
Got to watch a little Dodgers last night.
Conforto hit a nice left center ball.
And the broadcast was like, does that remind you guys of Freddie a little bit?
And I was like, all right, let's, if you guys turned Conforto into Freddie, I'm out.
The other thing of note, our friend, Tyler Glassnow, was on the mound,
and he was disgusting.
He is disgusting.
I know, and it's just, I don't want to say it made me mad because that sounds a little
too jealous and zesty, but the hair was out.
He was like, the Dodgers are in this perfect lane of where awesome and nothing matters
that, like, Glassnow was throwing so downhill without a care.
I think people are hitting under, like, 0.075 against his curve ball,
which just looks silly.
An embarrassment of riches, as we'll follow that through the season.
Trev, the first baseball game was played in your Sacramento, California.
The ball was flying that we've heard rumors of,
and it was March.
It's now April 1st.
First home run in Sacramento,
pro baseball,
or major league baseball history goes to our guy,
Jacob Wilson, who we're on.
We love Jack's boy.
For the A's, excuse me.
Yes.
I don't know.
Did you see anything out here?
Did you get any laughs?
Because there was a lot before the game.
They showed the press room,
and that was a shed.
I guess from,
this story starting to baseball being played there.
Where are you at?
I like to have the LED lights.
I wonder if they put those in for the season
because usually minor league parks don't have that.
That's pretty cool.
It's interesting.
Obviously, it's the shed.
The press room was hilarious.
That does not help like the A's whatsoever.
They probably didn't think about that.
Like, hey, someone's going to post a picture of the shed.
And it's going to make us look really bad.
My main takeaway was it looks like.
the A's players are still kind of getting, there it is.
That thing.
That's,
I don't know. You better get some AC in that bad boy
when summer comes around. Right?
You got some sweaty reporters in there.
That's just a sauna.
My main takeaway was, obviously the ball
looked like it was flying there, but
it looked like guys were
still getting used to playing at that
field. You know, Bladay had a few balls
that, you know, not easy balls,
but he doesn't exactly know where the wall.
are. He's not versed in that like he would be at the Coliseum.
So it's going to take some time for them to get used to the grounds and and all of that.
But, you know, I told Rosie this too.
And this is a novelty that'll probably wear off.
But I watched, I went to the Chargers, a Chargers game when they played at the Carson Center, which is like a soccer stadium and got to watch an NFL game in a facility that holds 19,000 people.
And typically these stadiums are 70 plus.
And it was really cool. It was like intimate and it was like a really cool experience and I'll never forget.
And I think that you could probably get that if you go watch the Sacramento A's or you can go get that if you're out in Tampa and you want to go see the race play at the Yankee Spring Training.
It'll feel different.
I mean, it's still, it's major league baseball, but it just seems like you're so much closer to everything.
It feels more intimate.
So I mean, I would say give it a try, man.
Like I'd go, I'm going there in June.
I'm calling a game for the twins.
But yeah, if you're in the area, you might as well.
Go check it out, man.
I'd make the drive.
I'd make the trip to go see it.
I know they're playing there for a couple years, but this is not something that's very typical.
We're not going to see this all the time and a venue this small.
So I thought it was cool.
Love watching Jacob Wilson get that knock, man.
Him and Max Muncie, two really young dudes for the A's.
Both have hit homers.
They're both from the same high school.
They played together on the same team.
I think Muncie.
Wilson was a year older than Muncie.
there's a lot of good stories coming out of Oakland right now
that game last night not so good
not out of Oakland pal out of Sackdale
not out of Oakland pal out of Sackedo
sack town my bad dog
That is your bad
You see Carson Kelly running for that triple
How about it?
A little cycle
I love ending a cycle on a triple
Love that
The toughest leg
And speaking of the cycle Trev
We are going to wrap it up
With Draft Kings bet the cycle
it's time to go bet the cycle.
Use code JM baseball when you sign up with the Draft Kings Sports book.
All right, this season we're going to be betting the cycle in the midweek episode.
And we're going to be showing you some of the guys that are rolling right now
that we think you might be able to capitalize on in a certain way.
I know I might, and I've actually hot start to the baseball season for the little guy.
Watch it.
Good for you.
Watch it.
And I'm going to get the people started off with a single,
and it's one of my doppelgangers.
It's Tyler O'Neill.
I think Tyler O'Neill, who's gotten off 4-4-10 start this year, 1.162,
we know the opening day thing that already happened.
For me, I think a light bulb's going on that I'm just like,
you know what?
Maybe when Tyler O'Neill's on the field, he's a baller.
So I think I'm running out a hit a day with Tyler O'Neill until it stops.
And I don't think it's going to.
I think the Orioles are savvy.
I think they might have gotten some value in Tyler O'Neill.
We were talking about corner outfield contracts before.
I think Tyler O'Neill is going to look pretty damn good.
I love watching Tyler O'Neill.
It looks great in a uni, by the way.
So I like that for our single because I think that will happen.
I'll take the double.
So slightly better than you.
Oh.
Now it goes.
I'm going to go with our two.
home run leaders right now who are playing
each other this week. A Eugino Svarez and
Aaron Judge both lead the league
with four homers. My prediction
is they both use a
torpedo bet and hit a thousand home
runs this season. No, I'm just kidding.
But I do. I got them hitting
over one and a half homers in the series.
They're going to stay hot. Aeohenio with two,
Judge with two, maybe even more
because they're that hot and locked in at the plate right now.
A series obviously close
of my heart. We'll be in the building tonight.
And yeah, when Gino gets hot, he stays hot and judgy, man.
No torpedo bat for the big man. He just hits everything.
Why would you switch?
He just hits it. That's what Jazz said. He's like, what are you guys talking about?
Judge don't need it. My triple, this is where we're going to start taking some chances.
This is, you know, Carson Kelly lagging it out. I'm going with the kid.
Jack Lider, setting a new career high in strikeouts in a game, striking out seven plus batters.
He didn't do that in spring training.
He hasn't done that at the Major League level.
Love how he looked.
Man, he's got a jawline on him.
And that's, you know, when you're shooting for triples, that's kind of what you need.
You need that picture, moxie, grit, and pretty golden arm on him that, you know I love my Rangers.
I'm happy for the Rangers.
I'm happy for him.
he's obviously put the work in everything is ticking up this season he's got those big old legs
Jake he's always had those I remember the draft video pre draft video of him throwing on the field
he's just had shorts on and he looked like Sequan Barclay out there maybe for a reason like no
I'm gonna pitch in these shorts yeah yeah I wore some like some shorter shorts I just had like
some of my other shorts were dirty um so I went to the gym in these shorts that got sent to me and
they were shorter and Olivia was like compliment to me so much
So I think I'm going like up in the in scene.
I'm gonna like Nikki Cassett like three inches.
Yeah, I was gonna say you've said some things to Nikki about a short said you might have to take back.
I might. They're working coach. Let's end the cycle with the big dog, the Homer.
And yeah, I gotta take a big swing here. And you know who's been taking big swings and coming up with nothing?
Raffield Devers. Yeah. He's 0 for 19 with 15.
strikeouts.
I, for my homer,
will say that he's going to go
the entire series
with only two
strikeouts and
break out of his slump.
He'll get the timing going
and we'll start to see Raphael Devers
of old. I think it's going to come
to a head. It can't happen
much longer than this.
So I got Devers breaking
out of his slump
and never,
And never looking back.
I think we're going to get him back to where he needs to be, coach.
And I think Red Sox fans would really like that.
Not a guy I bet against,
although the first couple days of the season,
it would have probably worked out for you.
Yeah, I'm interested to see that.
Also, I know I mentioned Yank Snakes before.
Randall Gritchick, a celebrity on this show for multiple different reasons,
kills the Yankees and kills lefties.
Rodon, Game 2,
if you see something.
I want to get more specific on mine.
Wednesday.
Gince Eflin is going to go to the entire game without striking out.
Wow.
You are a Trevor Plouffe home run.

All right.
We're going to wrap it up with another segment we're trying out.
It's the say something nice, say something mean, AI.
We're going to bring up a random player and we're going to say something nice, say something mean.
Like an example, Trevor, I'm happy you like your new short shorts.
I think you're wearing too much blue today.
That's just a practice round.
Bobby, give us our player of the day.
Okay, the player of the day from Perplexity AI typed in,
Give Me a Random Active MLB player that we can say something nice and something naughty about.
Let's say something about Andrew McCutcheon.
Random.
You were wearing a shirt the other day.
You're not going to say something bad about him.
Simulation overload right there.
That's incredible.
I can say something bad about him.
But I'm going to start with something great.
I'm happy that you're still playing and hitting homers.
What is this?
15 years in?
The longevity is great, Kutch.
I remember you as a young pup.
You're always a great guy.
I love you very much.
17 years.
Sheesh.
I'm going to say I like that he still is having fun while he's playing.
After he hit that Homer, big smiles.
I don't know if that was family in the crowd,
but he was bopping and smiling and having a good time.
I'll get my negative out of the way.
I'm sorry your team's not supporting the offense just a little bit more, pal.
My negative is hang them up, kid.
Let the young kids play.
Go home.
Oh, my gosh.
Trev.
Our life is great, Cutch.
It's too much stress playing baseball.
Hang them up.
Talk about taking people's jobs.
How many jobs is that guy going to take away from people when he's retired?
He's going to be in every one of the networks is going to snag him.
It's so true.
Maybe, yeah, keep playing.
He'll be at every MLB event, obviously.
Because he's like a pillar of the game.
Should that be my compliment?
I want to take it back.
Hey, everyone tuning in.
You guys are the best.
Again, we're supposed to be on Wednesdays,
but we thought there was enough juicy news to get out in front of it.
We're going to do a lot of stuff like that this year, the live stuff.
I suck.
A lot more segments you guys have probably noticed again.
We'd love any and all feedback.
Comment below.
What do you like?
Side strips, outfit.
And let us know.
Let us know.
Keep watching ball.
Going to the stadium night.
In that outfit?
What a dukey green?
What do you call that?
I have important meetings beforehand, Trow.
