Hello and welcome to Talking Baseball.
How about the ALDS?
My Yankees slit the bed.
The Rays look great.
The Chicago White Sox.
The M&M boys?
We'll cover some NL.
I might get really high.
Sean Burke.
Oh, tough one.
Paul Canerco.
Oh.
A couple legendary White Sox.
Hello and welcome to Talking Baseball.
presented by Fanatic Sports and Casino if you're locking in your baseball vets.
Vets Fanatic Sports and Casino is the place to do it.
Winning Hits Different here.
I'm Jake Story Ellie.
That's Trevor Ploof.
Rob Chiraco Producing Dalton Feeley live.
Adding info for us to share with you, Monos, people.
That's what matters in this sport.
Saw some good ones today.
We saw some horrific ones today.
And yeah, we'll hit some AL.
We'll circle back on the NL.
We took Sunday night off.
Sue us.
You all had to go to listen to baseball today for once.
Coach Trev, how are you?
Wow.
Someone's little feisty.
Someone's been at the trough, haven't they?
Oh, my gosh.
I'm doing well.
Sent my son off to Catalina Island this morning.
So it's just me and the girls at home.
Took Ireland out to a nice dinner tonight.
A little date, you know, if you will.
Took my two girls out.
I'm doing great.
I don't know.
I watched some good ball.
I'm excited to talk with you about it.
It's a real late night there.
Things can get kooky.
I saw you took your Yankee hat off.
Yeah.
And I just can't have that on this show.
We're all Yankee fans here.
So I just wanted to make sure we had some Yankee representation on it.
Be careful, pal, because with some of the injury rules,
you could be playing third base for the pinstripes.
Is this allowed?
That's legal now, yeah.
Oh, you're right.
I can do whatever I want as a Yankee.
You're great.
They look better than, oh, easy.
Yeah, I'll say this, Coach Trev, before we get into that.
We'll do that game first because it'll hurt more,
and then we'll do Chris Rose's guards, your white socks.
Trev, we do talking baseball, and we, you know, I laugh.
There's usually twice a month where you get in the Instagram comments
and you'll go app people, and I'm like, I love that.
That's my dog.
When we filled out our brackets,
I know how much it sucks for me
to not put the Yankees as the winning team?
Because I really want to do that.
And you know what else sucks?
What if they do have the miracle of baseball happen
and they advance?
And now I've got Yankees telling me,
I'm a fake fan.
You don't even like the team, bro.
Talking baseball, I'm just, I'm yucking ball.
I'll tell you, if this feels bias,
I'll normally tee that up.
I don't know, man.
It's not looking good.
A little spoiler for the Yankees game.
Because they didn't look great, coach.
No, not at all, really.
I mean, four heirs.
Let me, I wrote a burn.
Starting the game off with it, you're going to talk about it.
Let's go.
New York Mets ace.
Fastball Freddie would take the pill for the raise
as the Yanks would hope to not slit their pants.
Spoiler, they did.
Put in the Ian Yankees.
four errors and another three half errors, and it also doesn't matter if you can't hit.
Peralta was strong.
Ian Seymour, whether you wanted to boost, whether you wanted to baker, the Yanks can't touch
him.
Only rice in our meals, please.
And the race, how about Brooklyn's finest?
Richie Palacios hits the dagger.
Tampa wins 5-2 and takes a two-0 series lead.
Oh, where to begin?
Our friend, Richie Palacios, okay?
stud.
2020 spring training house?
Ooh, good question.
Rob's nodding, yes.
Okay, yeah.
That was fun times.
Will Benson.
Wow.
Wow.
That house.
Yeah.
Where do you want to start?
Coach, first play of the game for the Yankees on defense?
Oh, well, if we're going to start there, I might as well tell you the eight pitches the Yankees saw on Freddie Peralta that they did nothing on.
So now let's go there.
Sure.
I mean look
You just can't this team here
The race you just can't give them free passes
McMan's
Played at the drop enough
And had fielded enough like choppers
Where I'm just gonna chalk this up to
He just zooted it I don't know
That second hop on a topper is gonna come fast
It's gonna come quicker
On the drop turf
It's usually gonna go to the left there on the second one
You gotta know that
Because that's just part of the way it plays
he squared his body up.
I told you guys that before the show.
I didn't like that aspect of it.
He tries the turn at the end there,
but you don't have as much give when you square up
as you do when you decide.
You just have a better angle to the ball.
Anyways, that happens.
Lombard actually makes a really nice play on a chopper
on this next air we're about to show.
Makes a really nice planet.
Now, the toss not so great.
So jazz actually makes a great play.
fielding that. Take that out, man. And now what will be? It'll be two outs with the runner on first and third, right? That's what it would have been?
That would have been, that was the first out of the inning. So that would have been, that would have been first and third one out.
One out. Okay. So you still got a chance there coming in.
Well, good news for you, Trev. Cam Schlittler strikes out Liam Hicks, one, two, three.
a comma catcher's interference.
I want to go back to this play.
So I think the only reason that Jazz threw that ball
to first base is because he barehanded it.
If he catches out with his glove,
he takes the out.
But there's something about bare handing that plate.
And he's like, fuck it, we ball.
Like, he just turned around and threw that thing.
Well, they're also, they played tight.
I mean, after ending the game on embarrassment
and then having to sit on it,
whether you're the no-hitter
or the one guy that got the hit,
they got embarrassed more in the media for 24 hours.
They came out, they choked there at bats,
their defensive third baseman that people debated benching.
But no, we'll keep them out there for defense.
Zoo's the first ball.
Yeah, the jazz in that moment is like,
I got to pick up my ace and try to make a play.
So, yeah, here we are five minutes into the game debating
which one of the three Yankees errors is worse.
Yeah, they also had a randa, like,
shift that second at bat like shift it in for the bunt right there he's way up on the
turf i don't know how many times around this bun to this year i can't imagine it's a lot uh dulls on it
it doesn't matter to me the nicest way i don't you know um i was talking about this game already
with my good friend christopher rose and i feel like the race just did better uh with traffic on the
bases and they did like they had they they put the ball in play and they moved around and then you see
they were only one for 13 with runners in scoring position.
And you're like, whoa.
Yes.
Whoa.
Yankees worse than that, you know, obviously.
They score two runs this entire series and it's been two Ben Rice solo homers.
Yes.
Yeah.
That's outside of Ben Rice today, they had two hits.
But yeah, it's like, what do you want to be more mad about?
The pitching is still fine.
Like if Cam got a little more help today, his line would feel different.
The guys that came out of the Yankees bullpen looked fine.
But offensively, we're running into the same thing.
And then defensively, it just, it's jarring, man.
It's one of those things that's tricky because we're like, as this thing gets bigger,
we know a lot of people watch and, you know, people with the Yankees that you don't want to just like,
you can't hammer the table and call for people's heads every episode.
But it's kind of like, what is going on?
what why how come half the playoff losses come in like embarrassing fashion that the defense has just felt off for about this decade which feels wrong and then offensively yeah it's tough to say like rasmussen deserves all the snaps in the world this is playoff baseball like cody bellinger base is loaded it's a ball to the wall that i think it was a 12 out of 30 ballpark homer that if the yankees went up five
one in that first inning and put all the errors behind them,
I bet that would have felt different for them and Cam Schlittler and the team going
forward, but it's not what happened.
Ray's just put traffic on the base pass all game along.
There were two, one, two, three innings for the Yankees in this game.
Just every other time you got someone on base and you know this team can run.
They want to move the guys over.
They want to take good at bats, which they did.
I mean, look, yeah, that could have changed everything.
I mean, that ball of belly hit.
How many parks was that at home?
running 12 of 30 12 or 30 12 or 30 did you just say that I just missed it it's okay okay um
Spencer Jones all off the ring I saw you guys get really excited about that because that
that could have been a homer not in like the the swing but if that hits the right way and nobody's
there he could have scored there too instead Iran is like I got it I came all the way from right
field and everybody lost the ball, but it just came right to me.
Like, it's stuff like that right there, you know sports are weird and like there's just
some mystery in it and there's the baseball gods and stuff.
That feels that feels not good for the Yankees.
Yeah, on our live stream, which again, it was a weird proposition for me to understand
it.
I was like, what do we live stream games and people watch us?
Now that we do it, it's a ton of fun.
Like me, Jimmy and Joe's lose our minds for a little bit in a fun way.
And yeah, we literally before that Spencer Jones at bat, we were like,
we need to clean the air.
Like that was a horrible round of a bat.
The Yankees had three ears in the first inning.
We leave the room.
We come back.
Spencer Jones, it's one of the catwalks and it lands right into a guy's glove,
which you find out if it had landed on the turf, it would have been a live,
fair ball, which we've been seeing too much of that this early in the postseason.
But all of that's to be said.
Like the Yankees, the Yankees threw the ball decently.
Everything else.
I mean, there's so many guys that are not playing to their baseball card.
And you wonder, is it pressure?
Or is the other comma here just like the rays are better?
The rays have been better throughout the season while also being the best home field team in baseball.
And they showed that these first two games.
So I'm looking right now. Five for 13 are the top three hitters in the lineup. They have to go for the raise. They did. You want somebody at the bottom lineup to come up with a big, timely hit. Pelasios did. The pitching coming through the way it has, the defense they've been playing. Yeah, it just turned into a raise game real quick. And they do look like the better team, the more well-rounded team and the team that has been applying the pressure the entire time. I feel like there has been.
been anything pushed back on them nearly at all.
Even in that one-run game, I don't, I don't know.
I mean, I'm trying to go back into that.
Like, was there ever a time where I felt like they were on the ropes?
I don't think I can come up with one.
No, Trev, because they got no hit.
Yeah, yeah, and two walks.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, that Palacios hit was huge.
Three to one to five to one in a playoff game against that pitching staff and that building
is very different.
And yeah, obviously being down to nothing, it isn't what you want.
But also, for Yankee fans, it feels like a copy and pace from last year.
They won the two games against Boston, and then they went up to Toronto,
and they got their ass kicked by the team that was better than them in the division.
This year, they beat Boston, they go to Tampa, they get their ass kicked.
So they'll get two at this, or they'll get one at the stadium.
If they do get two, it would be freed and Rodon.
The Razor worst-vers-lefties.
So you're kind of banking on that.
But also, Drew Rasmussen would be lined up for game four,
and he's the Yankees' daddy.
So it's pretty dark over here, coach.
The change-ups.
Combio poppy.
Oh, man.
Keep your hands back.
Change-ups are there working.
Ben Rice saw the change-up, just fine.
He's good.
He has to DH because he doesn't have a position,
which is.
he does. Yes, he does.
What's that?
I told you. Put him behind the plate.
Cheat code.
I'm...
Don't say Austin Wells has been swinging the bat well.
Don't say...
I was not, although he has been their second best player.
Four-17 average 940 OPS, baby.
I, uh...
Yeah, I don't know, man.
I'll give a couple dark thoughts, and if you want more, I mean, we recorded a, like, a 20-minute
talking yanks where Jimmy was just praying a mic wasn't in front of him.
But, yeah,
I almost, if you're going to have an identity like, fuck it,
play Rice at catcher, put Garcia Jr. at second.
Let's match, baby.
Get Big G in that DH slot.
I don't know.
They're not going to do that.
And they probably shouldn't do that.
But I just wish they had everyday players that were good baseball players.
Ben Rice, hey, buddy, we'll give you a contract.
But we want you to learn to catch.
We want you to be our everyday catcher.
Why is that such a weird discussion?
It was a minor league catcher.
Why is that a weird discussion?
I don't think he can do it.
Josh Donaldson was a catcher, too.
Remember that?
Sure was.
Speaking of hands.
Let's move on to the other ale game.
It's brought you by Fox One.
Today's episode brought to you by Fox 1.
MLB is streaming over there.
And this time of year, it's what talking baseball is meant for.
Fox 1 has your front row seat.
Every walk-off, every bullpen decision.
It's a test on whether your team is built for the World Series.
Feeling that, Fox.
Fox 1, MLB on Fox streams,
marquee matchups, lights out performances,
it's your home for MLB on Fox,
live as it happens, and on demand.
And they're streaming the 2026 World Series.
That's right, not a highlight package,
not a recap, the actual game live as they unfold.
At home or on the go, live or on demand, whatever works.
The race to the World Series is on, never miss a moment
by watching MLB Live on Fox 1 stream now.
Hmm.
Hmm.
A critical game, too, for Cleveland with their ace, Gavin deGraw Williams,
trying to be anything other than what he's been lately.
Taking on the White Sox and more pitching chaos, bottom one.
Cleveland, feeling some type of way.
After rich homie, Kwan, and J. Ram score on an air, it's two nothing guards.
Top fun.
Top four.
Umarikami.
Big Ballin is my hobby.
RBI single, it's two to one guards in the six.
Eric has Guardians fans chugging bottles of Sobrowski,
a three-run six by the M&M boys, Montgomery and Midroth.
Some fortitude to lead, fortitude.
Bottom eighth, Adelso's fired to the rain.
RBI triple, it's four to three,
but sweet home, Chicago, on the road.
K to Newcomb to Burt for 5.1,
and Taylor gang.
White Sox win 4-3 and take a 2-0 series lead.
You're my central guy, coach.
A nightmare.
For the guardian.
An absolute, absolute nightmare.
How is Rosie? Give me, give us a little tease.
He's just like, well, this is how every game goes.
You know, we don't capitalize, you know, bullpen cubs.
Can't get the job done.
We're not going to score his big.
thing, which I think is an interesting take here. First of all,
the same, the way we're feeling with the Ray, like the rays and the White Sox have the magic.
I know it's easy to say that when they're up to nothing, but it's just kind of been dominant.
The White Sox dominated the Astros and they're sneaky dominating the Guardians and the rays
have dominated the Yankees. I mean, these two teams didn't necessarily come in like super
hot. They kind of had their place already
destined for them
going into the playoffs.
But they've gotten hot at the right times
and it looks really, really good.
His big take was, why bring
Sabrowski in that situation or at least
when it's second and third, why wasn't
Cade Smith in?
He won the big dog and the big leverage there.
Instead, Sabrowski first pitch hack, Montgomery.
Beautiful swing, by the way.
Little shooter. And you know who's been
all over the damn box scores?
What's that?
Brady Montgomery, Kyle Teal, and Chase Midroth,
the guys they got for Garrow Crochet.
They've been all over the box scores.
Teal scores every freaking run they score.
And then a great bat here by Montgomery.
And then Midroth follows it up with a little single to right that, you know, yeah, shoot.
Sometimes those trades do work out.
You know, Trev, that is interesting with the reliever side of it.
I do feel like by this time in the postseason, we'd have some, you know,
the closer came in the sixth inning.
we shot our best reliever when we had to early because I feel like something we talk about
every playoffs is a manager doing that move and then your goal is to like extend the lead.
It's like, hey, we need to hold on here.
Hopefully we can push across two more runs so we can survive later.
We haven't seen that move in any of the series yet.
Yeah, and this was a good instance for it.
I mean, you are still have the lead and, um,
you're trying to preserve that.
So Cade Smith is a guy you rely on.
Say he gets that last out, pitches one more,
then you got to cover the eighth and the ninth.
And you've got guys, whether it's Gattis
and a couple of different guys
you can mix and match there at the end.
It doesn't make it fun.
You're definitely biting your nails
at the end of the game.
But his take, and I think this is, you know,
it makes sense.
It's like you're going to have to manage that way
in Chicago when you go there.
in game three, it's all hands on deck,
and you can't, Kate Smith has pitched twice now
in this series, both without the lead.
So if you're going to have to do that game three,
might as well do that game two.
That was Rosie's whole point.
I thought that was interesting,
and I think, you know, we have seen that for managers before.
In fact, the Guardians were like the team to do that,
their high leverage guy super early in games
to put out the fire at the biggest part of the game.
They didn't do it here.
Crazy.
They got that 2-1 lead.
If Zabrowski does get it,
at Braden Montgomery who struggled at points of sea.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's tough.
And I, Cleveland fans might hate, well, both fans will hate this.
So why not just walk into it?
Let's bring down all the Yankees guys.
I'm not done with this series at all.
I don't know.
I just think these teams are so close.
I think every year we see a series that's like the Road Road series that I, I don't know.
I'm not done with it.
again, in my soul, I thought this series was going five.
I obviously could be wrong.
Like the White Sox have put in work.
Again, they were the better team for, what, five of the months.
And then they slipped up that, you know, the youth kicked in.
Their playoff formula seems to be working.
I would also just say, like, they haven't felt the playoff fear yet.
Like, have they been, like, they haven't been down three?
Like, they, like, again, they were down.
They won every game.
They won four games.
Two runs in this game, which they cut in head.
half that yeah, they haven't lost, they haven't walked into the stadium the next day being like,
who we lost last night, that I don't know. Again, it could not happen. They could go into the next
game, go up Murakami hits one out of the ballpark, and it's like, Jesus, these MFers can't be
stopped. We'll see. I'm not done with this series.
I mean, look, they've had the ability to do two of these like bullpen-ish games now because
of the off days and everyone feeling good.
They're not going to be able to do that necessarily tomorrow.
Or is it Wednesday?
Yeah, they get another day off.
So they will.
Oh, my God.
Right?
The stars could align.
Like, I'm not going to necessarily fight that.
Yeah, I mean, look, if they can continue to do this and just kind of bullpen it up
and, you know, have the bulk guy and, you know, Sean Burke was incredible today.
You know, Grant Taylor, four outs on seven pitches.
All of them are strikes.
That's after throwing, two days after throwing four innings and getting the save.
They've had their guys, but we see this every off season where one bullpen just kind of gets locked in and doesn't matter when they throw.
They're just fired.
I mean, this is the highest tea team left in the playoffs is the Chicago White Sox.
Like Padres, they got their tea kicked out of them.
The Brewers have it, but this feels like the socks are running on pure adrenaline and testosterone every time you watch them.
even their celebration is like that.
Oh, yeah.
And no,
they say that is.
What do they make up to say that is?
A goate?
What do you think it is?
What do you think they're doing there?
Mind the balls.
That's what they're saying,
people.
Yeah.
Pay attention.
Nobody left out.
Nothing wrong with a little play down there.
Yeah, it does.
The energy feels really cool.
It feels like next man up pitcher-wise, which that can feel horrific sometimes.
Yeah, I'm interested to see the next game.
I think our guy Fettywap is looking to get in there probably with an opener.
And, you know, Jordan Hicks has been a problem in this playoffs.
He's going to be rested.
Like, could you think about opening the box score and he throws them 61 bullets if he's sharp?
Like, they have a fun dynamic right now that if you come out of their bullpen and you're bad,
well, it's probably going to be three badders and let's see what the next guy.
has you come out and look good you might you might finish the goddamn game uh and it's a lot of easier
sean burke you know he showed us he does have a family but homeboy likes ball uh and he retired 13 straight
batters 5.1 like you know this would be one of the better starts this postseason 5.1 1 hit one earn
run uh but yeah it's uh the sports in a weird spot pitching right now and it feels like the socks
are hitting it perfectly you know changes everything in this year just playing
with it. You know what it changes? It changes everything
in this series. Who's that?
If Jose Ramirez clicks one.
Okay. He's just off, man.
He's just off.
If he comes up
in the first inning in Chicago,
top one, clicks a ball for two,
then I'm like, okay, here comes Cleveland
again. Without him, they don't
have a chance. They really don't.
Yeah, him,
Martinez and Roki are 0 for 19
this series. Hey, but Anhele Martinez
He's playing a hell of a left field.
I'll tell you that much.
Yeah, he made a couple.
Nice diving catch late today.
Yeah, and I should say this.
If I'm going to give that speech that, you know,
Guardians fans probably don't want to hear right now
and White Sox fans don't want to hear.
And I forget if I mention this with the Yankees.
The Yankees, they got their lefties lined up,
the Razor versus lefties.
They'll be at the stadium.
Let's see if they feel it.
This series, I don't, I think you're absolutely right.
And I don't know who does it.
And if it is J-RAM, yes, that is more massive.
But can it be Joe Adele who hits a triple that would have been a homer in 19 ballparks?
Like, who's going to be the bad man for a little bit?
Because they just need that.
And the White Sox need to feel that because otherwise they're just,
I mean, they're just playing with the balls.
I mean, literally.
If this was the NFL, they'd be getting penalty flags and like paying fines every single game.
They're humping each other before the game.
tip to tip.
It's a great point, Trev,
and I was wondering this the other day
because my Yankees,
who are Disney and, you know,
play things close to the Tress,
they've been bench pressing
and hanging dong all year.
The hanging dong is,
that's a lot.
It's crazy.
It's like, no, it was funny.
I saw it in an NFL game,
like a wide receiver did it.
And I was like, oh my God.
Like, we just,
the Yankees have been doing that for six months.
Yeah, I don't know.
Are we part of the problem, Trev?
The twins were throwing around a sausage for a while.
Do you remember that?
It's a long season.
Yes.
That was like two years ago, but it's a long season, huh?
Let's see.
I guess this goes for both series.
In a five game set, nobody has come back from being down 02 since the New York
Yankees against the Cleveland Guard dog.
So, yeah, it was funny.
We were replaying some of that.
Those were the baby bomber Yankees.
And I think J.RAM had a quote that got put on the wall and things went from there.
We'll see.
Again, I think Cleveland's going to have more fight in this.
In a way, I hope I'm wrong because this White Talk story is awesome.
And like, even going back to when they first broke out as a team, these are real prospects.
Like, these are dudes.
like Grant, who's it, Hagan Smith, who's breaking out this postseason, like, you know, top 100 prospects.
Sure.
The whole lineup, everyone they got from Crochet, the talent is there.
And in a way, I almost said, you were saying testosterone so much.
And then I wanted to say it because that's, it's what it is.
These guys are out of their minds.
Yeah, it's, it looks like a college team, which you know, I don't love college ball,
but they're doing at the big league level on the biggest stage.
So I let it slide here.
Chase Midroth was like blowing a bubble on his RBI single the other way.
Dude, I was just laughing because we haven't talked about this.
Chase Midroth has turned into like the mature guy on the team.
There was a, I read an article.
I guess he lives with Vassal.
He's very, you know, one big guy, one small guy.
Oh.
And then on the streets, Vassel go around yelling Chase Midroth's name.
Like, are you Chase Midroth?
Second Basel of the White Sox?
I do that all the time with Jimmy Cawson.
Oh, wow.
I'm like, Jimmy Cawson right here.
We were in Chicago for the Rams Bears game.
I kept doing that and people, you know, it's Notre Dame town there.
Right.
They loved it.
Did Jimmy Cawson love it?
Absolutely not.
No.
You hate to.
Yeah, okay.
That doesn't matter to me, though.
You have a couple tricks like that up your sleeves that I think would surprise people.
Just get the people going.
You like to spark something.
Mm-hmm.
And I don't know, part of me likes that.
I would fit in on this White Sox team.
You would.
You would.
Me and Tommy fan be wrestling.
He's calling Rob Manfred out a batting practice.
Do we have video of this?
Because the quotes are unreal.
It's not as bad as the quote.
The quotes are, apparently it was very cordial.
It has to be because otherwise he wouldn't be in the league.
Like if he's phrasing that differently.
Well, what's Rob Manfred going to say to that, though?
You're gone from the league?
Well, Rob ends up looking sick because his responses, if it was intense, his responses are kind of cool guy.
It's just like, see you later, Tom.
If you have no idea what we're talking about, apparently Tommy fam saw Rob Manfred around batting practice and asked him what's going on with the balls.
Because he still thinks he hit a home running game one.
And I kind of do too.
You're like, you know, knuckled one out.
This is not, that's not from today, though.
that's not from those that's in Houston yeah either way to talk about two alphas
I'll take left two different types of alas two different types of alphas
speaking of how about some booking.com booking dot com booking yeah because they are the
they're an official travel partner of MLB booking dot com makes it easy for every baseball
fan to travel and catch a game wherever the team schedule takes them a playoff game a
weekend series, even a random Tuesday to a city you never be in.
The thing about that, with every baseball town, it comes with the ballpark, the city,
the neighborhood that turns into a tailgate before first pitch, the food spots.
Locals actually go to the streets that buzz a little differently on game tank.
Every stadium has its own version of that, and booking.com makes it easy to find a great deal
on a hotel vacation home right in the middle of it.
Once somewhere gets in your head, go on, book that trip.
The easiest way from where you are to where you want to be.
booking.com, booking dot yeah, an official travel partner of MLB, Major League Baseball
Trademarks used with permission.
Like I teed up a little bit, they're going to head to Chicago where they could do it,
and then Tanner Bybee is expected, maybe some Joey Cantillo, maybe an opener, who knows,
maybe they just get in the chaos themselves, and the White Sox, yeah, some Fetti, maybe an
opener, maybe literally everyone on the team, because that's how they've been operating.
Trev, I didn't get to see you last night.
It was a lonely Sunday, although nobody will care about this.
I think I even mentioned it to Dalton and I don't think he cared.
Snuck out a late fantasy football victory.
Amon Ra's three-yard catch to end the game,
had me win by 0.04.
Quite the rush.
Change my day.
Change my entire morning.
Sports are stupid.
We didn't get to talk a delicious National League evening that, I don't know,
we don't have to deep dive into the games
because, again, go listen to some baseball today or whatever.
But we'd love to know some of your thoughts that have us with a Brewer's 2-0 series lead against San Diego
in a game with the bad man on the mound with a lead in that last one.
The Typhrance Roof ball is crazy.
And then the Braves take one in L.A., which I believe the stat I heard is teams that split that first home field
are like 31 and 19 in these
playoff series. So like a massive
bullpen day win for the Braves
they didn't use sale. Let's do Padres
Brewers first. I mean
what a
fucking game dude. I mean
that's what a playoff game is supposed to be
like the images and the
clips from that game
the crowd, everything was just
absolutely
you know electric. I don't know where you want to
start with it.
How deep are we going to go into both of these games that happened Sunday?
How deep can you go?
I don't know.
Again, because I think if you're a baseball person,
if you're listening to talking baseball,
you already know what happened,
that we don't have to recap the game.
I guess for me,
do you think Miller was tipping?
I guess people would be interested in that.
So I do,
he was tipping his pitches.
There's no doubt about it.
I don't think you really even can combat that.
You know, Jimmy put out a big breakdown on today.
He talks about it's not as consistent as maybe you wanted,
but you still go for it as a team.
Do I think they were relaying the signs?
I'm not sure.
Yeah.
I'm really not sure.
You know, I haven't talked to anybody.
Gary Sanchez came out today and says,
he has no idea what anybody's talking about.
And he seems sincere about it.
But, you know, there's all levels to this stuff.
And I don't want it to take away from the fact that,
what they did against Mason Miller.
And the bat that the Jackson Trio put together there.
Like, I'm not taking away.
I'm mentioning, like, he for sure was tipping pitches.
Could they be relaying?
Go talk to anybody in these organizations in today's game.
Like, they have multiple people, if not a whole, you know, wing of their
baseball ops department, like doing stuff like this.
So, like, they for sure knew he was doing it.
Whether or not they relayed it or not, I'm not sure.
Some of the takes, that's what I always look at when we're looking at.
Do these guys have tip?
Like the one-two take on the breaking ball, when you barely flinch at it,
and the guy throwing 104, that sounds an alarm in my mind.
That's all I'm saying.
And it could just be, hell, the greatest take and greatest a bet we've ever seen.
And he's been that guy.
In the playoffs, like he's on track that we're going to start mentioning him if we already don't.
And one of the better outfielders in all the baseball, he can just do everything.
Talk about Jackson Trio here now.
So, yeah, I mean, either way, if he was getting relayed, the signs or not, it's a great fucking win.
And if you're San Diego, you gave it your best bullet and you lost.
And that, to me, is the most important thing that we're going to talk about with this series is that bullpen, who you were relying on to bring you to the promised land got beat.
You got beat.
and so I think that matters going forward.
I know Petco is going to be rocking.
I know the record there.
By the way, the Brewer's, what, second best home record in all the baseball?
Yeah, incredible, if not even like tied with the race or a game off.
Like they showed it today.
And I was like, oh, okay.
All the teams that are still in the playoffs have a good home record.
You need to win at home, people.
Yeah.
Anyways, it was, I mean, that moment there.
Like the abats, they worked before Gary Sanchez,
pinch hitting him and working a walk.
yelling on base,
free-lick the same way.
Like,
you know,
just tip your cap to the brewers
and taking that game to me,
that was like,
you know,
there's always going to be
little tester moments
in the postseason.
Winning that,
the confidence is through the roof
right now for the brewers.
Yeah.
And this was the series
that for myself,
it was the toughest to pick.
And I was just like,
I don't know, man.
And then I defaulted to the brewers
because I wanted,
their regular season to matter. I wanted their, I wanted their feelings from last year to matter
of like having the amazing regular season, but at the end it didn't really matter. They got
embarrassed by the Dodgers. There's a little bit of that. I mean, the ceiling thing is crazy
from game one. And then, you know, I mean, if that ball is a foot to the side, does Jake Croninworth
grab the line drive and it's a Padres win? Like, and then what are we talking about that? It's been
an incredibly even matchup.
It does feel of the teams down too low,
again, you could call me out if I feel wrong.
It feels like the Yankees are in the worst spot.
It feels like the Brewers, or it feels like the Padres are second
because I think what's hurting them is just the fact that, like,
the Brewers are really good and you had one and a half of these games
and you're down too low.
It's tough to picture a team that does everything so well.
like this and the Brewer's losing three straight.
I will say that Petco home field
has felt different
that getting back in that building
and winning game three
it could change the entire energy.
Dalton just put a stat out.
So
I think he, yeah.
He just nodded yes.
Versus Miller, there was three walks
in that, in that
inning, and it was Freelich, Yelich, and Sanchez.
There were 17 pitches thrown to those three players.
They didn't swing the bet once.
That's crazy, bro.
Right?
That's crazy.
And then that's, it makes, I don't know.
I'm not going to question Mason Miller, but I don't know.
Like, he should, a lot of the story became tipping
and not brewers are good, which it should be.
But yeah, I mean, those at bats were all.
all kind of bizarre.
And you're also like, I don't know, Mason Miller.
Don't walk the three guys.
Like even if you are tipping, why don't you see if they can hit 102?
Well, a lot of times, I mean, that's another thing.
And the way they would have had to relay these signs is from second base.
So like in those first at bats there, like, Yelich isn't getting anything.
Right.
So, you know, you have to mention all that.
It's just we're talking ball here.
And it's something that everybody noticed on the internet.
internet. Jimmy's been noticed it a month ago with what Miller is doing. And it's something that you
have to talk about because it's part of the game. In the end, the Brewers got the job done.
It is one of the better of bats I've seen in a long time with Truro and in fouling some of these
pitches off. The fastball down in the way that he just got his barrel to just to tip it. That's a
strikeout pitch. And he doesn't strike out. Yeah. And hey, even Yelly on that walk, he walks,
the captain. And then he steals second.
He goes and gets it.
Yeah.
And he showed the legs can still go.
Like, did he go for a double?
Was that earlier this game or the game before that?
Or maybe he was in just round and first yard.
And I was like, okay, belly.
Like his regular season speed was off.
And it was like, I'm empty in the chamber.
He's got so tall, long stride.
You forget how big yell he is.
The whole thing when he first came up, like,
I don't know how many new baseball fans listen to this.
But it was just like,
he's an athlete.
Like baseball doesn't see a lot of athletes like this guy.
And it's kind of,
his energy doesn't necessarily reek of that.
But he's a freak, man.
MVP?
Crazy.
Yes.
Yes.
I'm glad we're giving some love to the Brewers.
I'm internally laughing at myself for calling out Mason Miller.
Like, be better guy.
And, yeah, Dustin Mavers, Nick Povetta tomorrow.
We're doing a double stream.
I, Hardo Jake, he shows his head this time of year and in the wait room.
Because we were going to stream the 930 Brewer's game, and we still are.
Dustin May going up against Nick Povetta, your guy, potentially clinching the series.
The 6 p.m. game, Braves Dodgers, Sail Yamamoto.
What are we doing?
What are we doing?
I'm watching. So we're live streaming it.
We're live streaming both because I want in on that action.
pop. That's going to be incredible. Chris asked me who we're going to be talking about more,
Chris Saylor, Yomotam. I'm done with this show. I'm done with this Joe.

Bang.
And if that's not a way to tee up.
Chris Sale versus Yamamoto.
I guess we should wait on that,
even though I'm clearly openly aged up about it.
Thank you, Hems.
We have to go back.
And what an effort the postseason Michael Harris, too, is having,
is becoming like rare air territory for a kid that actually.
actually grew up a fan of the team, was rooting on the 2021 team from the stands.
What Ray Kerr's postseason has turned into, my goodness.
And the Didier Fuentes breakout that I think if you're, you know, those that know kind of new,
but this is what this stage is built for.
Yeah, I look, I don't think they fully knew they were going to go to a bullpen game, like right away.
I think they kind of made that decision, whether it was early that morning or late the night
before and you know, Kerr's
stepped up again and really
they never
the Dodgers really never had
it felt like they didn't have a chance in this
in this game. I was there
it was kind of a boring game to be
at which is kind of crazy to say. Completely
forgot you were at this game. I was
here. I was crazy. In right
field on the wall
trying to get some action. My kids
in Olivia were not happy with the seats
because we were so far away
from everything and nothing happened. I was like
guys, we're going to get balls down the line
and we're going to see Ronald Cooney Jr.
And Kyle Tucker run right in front of us.
Didn't happen once, dude.
There was one foul ball that Acuna came running over,
and that was it.
But it was a lot of pitching changes, obviously.
Blake Snow walks five guys.
Like, it was just kind of like a,
like there wasn't a lot of energy going on there in the stadium,
and a lot of it has to do, yeah, with Michael Harris,
and with what Kerr was able to do,
and then Fuentes was able to do that.
They just stymied that Dodgers offense.
And the top of their lineup hasn't showed up at all.
Max Buncey, of course, has because he's the goat.
But a huge, a huge game for the Braves.
And Balsey, to be honest with you,
facing going down 2-0,
and even with having Sale and Malley in your chamber for a 3-4,
you know, it's not a good place to be against the,
Dodgers. Instead, the bullpen gets the job done. And now the fact that they
waited on sale and having him on full rest and then malleted back that looks like
a stroke of genius in the game planning aspect of this series. So, I mean,
sail's great. He's been great against the Dodgers. I mean, the two games are
nuts that he pitched against him this year. Last one, August 27th shutout,
nine innings pitch, only five hits at 11Ks, no walks. He hasn't walked a Dodger this
entire year yet, Jake.
18Ks, no walk,
16 innings pitch. Yamamoto
obviously not a slouch
in his own right. He's made one start against
him, six in the third, four hits,
one run. The only one was a Drake Baldwin Homer.
He struck out eight and walked runs. So
it's going to be a hell of a matchup.
And I'm happy this is one-to-one. And I really don't
know what's going to happen. In my mind,
Braves are going to win this game. And then
it's going to be, the Dodgers' backs are going to be against the wall.
and we'll see if they can force a game five, but shit, man, I don't know.
Trev, that Chris Sails start, you mentioned, nine innings, 11 strikeouts, no runs.
You mentioned Yamamoto.
He faced the Braves, 6.1.
You mentioned the solo homer by Drake Baldwin.
That was the same game.
Yes.
These dudes were on the rubber together.
And, like, again, we don't do this with all athletes.
we end up doing it with the top athletes and we're like, oh my God.
Like, dude, M.J. was a sit.
Like, dude, the way Kobe went to the gym.
And you know all those stories about whatever athletes you know.
Like, hey, most of these guys are wired a little differently.
That's part of the reason they got there.
Like, you don't think who Yamamoto is is thinking about this one?
Like, the fact that Baldwin clipped him, I don't normally do this,
but I'll take Yamamoto and they.
game. Like, I bet Yamamoto's been thinking about that one for a while. And dude, that old school
pitcher mentality that baseball doesn't have anymore of like, you know, when sailing Yamamoto are two
old guys shooting a little whiskey at, at some game 20 years from now, like, they're going to
talk about we faced each other. Like, that was you and I on the mound. I won that game.
That Yamamoto's a sick puppy. Like, I'm so fascinated to see where the run.
come from in this game. Is it going to be big swings?
Is it one of those baseball things? We look up and it's an 8 to 6 scoreboard.
I don't think so because these guys, these guys are close to aliens.
Try to see how many, okay, 0 for 8 for the Dodgers with runners in scoring position.
So they have more chances than I thought in that game in game two.
But you're right. I mean, this is an absolute coin toss of a game.
game three is and
whoever wins this one in the driver's seat.
I have another sick oh note.
Okay, tell me.
That start.
This is gross.
Sail versus Yamamoto.
It was lead off first pitch.
That was the only ball
that they got off Yamamoto.
First pitch of the game.
I don't know.
I haven't been for a non-Yankies game.
I don't know if I've been as excited for this one.
There's obviously, dude, the Dodgers dynasty that's tied into this.
Chris Sale feels like he's been on a whole tour this year,
like the Little League World Series thing, shaking my hand,
just kind of like re-imaging who Chris Sale is.
And then meanwhile, like, will I be shocked at all
if Yamamoto goes complete game shutout like 12Ks?
No.
I think Chris Sale did like an interview today.
Dude, he's a different guy.
What's going on, dude?
I don't know.
Midlife crisis, Chris Sale, a movie.
All in on it.
I love it.
I love it.
So some Dodgers notes that we kind of touched on or haven't touched on yet.
Dave Roberts did come out and say they might reshuffle the order, including O'Tani.
I told Chris Rose, he cannot hit.
Fifth is the last spot.
that you can go without getting disrespectful to Shohay Otani.
So I could see them going Mookie Freddie,
uh,
Muki Freddie and then who?
Will Smith?
Smith,
he could go.
And then Shohay then Teo or Teo in front of Shohey.
Like,
but he can't hit sixth.
He can't hit six.
Um,
no.
No.
And I,
so you're,
Fifth is pushing the line of disrespectful to Shoheyotani.
But he hasn't,
like if he doesn't go,
like that's so you're in on changing the lineup i think we i think i move freddie in front of show
okay i do he's had some good numbers against sale and he's he just the most professional
of that's ever no matter who's pitching uh so i i would i would give show hey a little bit more time
little you know a little bit more of a breather at the beginning part of a game i know it doesn't
sound like much moving two spots down the order but it is it's the difference of being in the
in the on deck circle right away or having a two at bat's a bat
to figure out what your game plan is going to be.
It is a difference.
I do, Freddie, for Shohei.
I like that.
Like, basically you're saying we're not messing with any,
we're not messing with anything else,
except we're putting the Hall of Fame,
one of the best, like, approach hitters of all time
into the two-hole.
And Sho-hey, you'll be good cleaning up,
which we thought was the cool hitting position for 100 years.
Kika Hernandez, does he end up playing somewhere instead of Andy Pahez?
like there's that aspect to it
that's it
oh don't just mentioned
the no more challenging
from Pahas to how the Dodgers
like revoked his privilege
You know there's one way to get him out of challenging
and having some not in the lineup
got one other party trick
what do you think about them
pinch it in DePaul at the end of the game
um I don't know
that's a tough spot to go into right there
I kind of like Tommy Edmund
who's been in the game and has given
you some good at bats in the postseason before.
I get it. You need a jolt there.
You basically need, I mean, you just need to get on base.
Then you get mooky up. You got to feel good about that.
Yeah, I don't, I don't, I didn't hate it.
Like, it's something you can overanalyze.
But they talk about this kid like he's special.
And Tommy Edmund's always been better from the other side of the plate that I get it.
It is just a brutal ask.
Like to join, join the potential three Pete Dodgers.
Here's riceally.
for an abat.
Yeah, I lean the guy that's been in the game the entire time and has had these abats
rather than a rookie who was getting my postseason, his feet wet in the postseason.
By that time, we actually, we left in this, after the seventh we left.
Wow.
You're the one getting Dodgers fans yelled out.
I wanted to stay, dude.
Oh, you're not going to pin it on your job.
dates.
Oh,
I'm pinging on that.
I'm,
and Olivia told me
I got these seats I was so excited
from.
She's like,
she's like,
I don't really like
sitting out here.
That's so funny.
I was like,
okay.
I did.
Thank you to all.
We were like,
I parked in and out
of the stadium,
right field.
Nice.
Boom, boom, boom.
I saw J.P.
Martinez.
My guy.
We dapped it up.
Did one of the biggest things
you strive for in this world
is your wife thinking you're cool.
Did you get a proper amount
to love at the stadium. Did you get a couple? You got enough talking baseball.
Immediately. Immediately. And I was in one section, dude, in and out. And like, you know,
four or five people came up. Very nice, very cordial. Saul, I was with my family. But still,
that's a great feeling, man. That makes me, it makes me love doing this because we just talk to each other.
I don't really ever think about going out to people and it goes out to people. So it's cool.
It is kind of nuts.
It's nuts.
I don't know.
I took that gummy about 40 minutes ago, so I won't go into how nuts it is,
but I will thank the people.
And I know when you think you look cool in front of Olivia,
that's the peak of your life.
Oh, my kids too.
My kids now.
Yeah, true.
I'm 40 years old.
My cool days are like, out.
I'm done, I think.
I'll talk to Teddy.
Like, I don't think I get cool again until,
I'm like 65.
Then I'm like a cool grandpa.
And I better be,
I better be loaded.
When you hit a certain level of like old and chill
and you're like, you wear rest in peace,
Barry Melrose suits or something like that,
like then you're just, you're the guy.
I have 20 years of just trying not to embarrass myself and my kids.
That's tough for me.
That's the next chapter.
Yeah.
So far like, I guess I'm doing okay.
but I think about it a lot.
I know.
You're doing great, man.
Amazing.
Because it's Wednesday,
let's send everyone out of here
with our single game parlay
with Fanatic Sports and Casino.
We're heading to the game that I'm,
I was drooling over.
I'll apologize to my L.A. brother in a little bit
because there's obvious excitement
that there's blood in the water with this Dodgers team.
So I admit my bias there.
But I can't wait to see.
this pitching matchup. That's why I'm going in on it. Chris Sale, 7 plus K's. I mean,
that might be fourth inning. Yamamoto, 7 plus K's. LOL same. Might match him toe to toe.
But the one hitter that we're going to be in on, it's Freddie getting one hit. So we got
two seven plus strikeouts, Freddy with one hit. Those odds, you get into the plus mid-fours on Fanatics,

Coach, you see you tomorrow night.
Some Meno baseball?
When the hell did Rowdy tell us?
Get on the Braves, people.
Bro, Rob, don't hit the music.
Last year
Even Teddy said that to me last time
He goes
When did Rowdy Telez go on the Braves?
I was like I don't know
Routy one of the coolest guys
We got to meet in baseball
As beloved as a human gets as a teammate
I had a moment
Where it was just a brain fart
That I saw him last series
And I was like I didn't know Rowdy was coaching
And then I saw him taking in a bat
And I was like what's going on?
Half of that's a joke
But shout out
Shout out Rowdy Telez
still swinging the big set. Put a good swing on it.
Good swing on it. A real nice swing.
Lined it right to Tucker. So yeah, tenant bats this year, two hits his last game
that he suited up was June 30th.
Baseball is bizarre, man.
And he's just in the, there's another guy, Deshauncursy Jr. who was a twin.
I think he spent the entire year in the minor leagues.
And he's just a pinch runner now, which I respect and I love that.
It's maybe there will be a cool or bad.
foolish or jolly video one day,
but some of the roster decision making is wild,
especially in these shorter sets
because it's like, well, we might use that guy.
We could talk ball all day.
We'll do it again tomorrow.
Thank you, everyone.
Shout out Coach Trev.
Bob Seraco producing Dalton Feely
on everything.
You guys are the best.
Big ball day tomorrow.
Jake sucks.
Sean Cursey Jr., five at best this year, one hit.
Three runs, though.
Oh, those count?
