I'm going to be honest. But the baseball was hot in the streets. My main man, Albert Pujolos, has an argument for the best hitter ever. Speaking of... That was embarrassing. Trevor, what? That was like I went for a high five, essentially, and you were, like, looking at the other guy. Oh, the main man?

Yeah, I thought you were talking about me either. I was... I don't think you really know Albert Pujols, to be honest with you. That was Arod's ridiculous video that he posted. That was my main man. It's September 12th. Like, I think a couple teams might have died this weekend. Oh, yeah. We heard about that in our text chain, bro. Yeah. A couple teams might have died this week. I mentioned my Yankees on the outset. They rose.

I think they locked up the two seed in the east, which is pretty big in the east. What? And the AL, as people like to call it. And yeah, the National League Braves and Mets are going to do a dance the rest of the way. Rowdy Tell us hot. Trev, let's get into the games,

Good on them. They should. Because when you go Cindergarde Suarez, Nola versus where these gnats are at, that's kind of what to be expected. The nine hitter for the Phillies hit all weekend. You got to love that when you're getting contributions down there. How about Hoskins and Real Mudo with homers in the first game? They get four homers in that second game,

and then we're having a bowman as Alec has a go-ahead to run Homer in that final game to sweep them. Phillies keep their good juice going to stay firmly in that wild card. Speaking of the wild card, your San Diego fathers, they hosted the Dodgers for three. And hey, they win that first game. Ten innings. Five, four Padres. Get welcome to the Crohn Zone, my fellow Jake with the walk-off single. But then, did you piss off the bad guys?

The Dodgers take the next two games. Turner with the big go-ahead three-run double in that second game. Freddie Freeman with four hits, and that's obvious. And then Max Muncie and Justin Turner, we've been trying to tell you guys they finish it off in the last game. Dodgers, the first team to clinch a playoff berth. Holy smokes. The Mets faced off with the fish.

Are they still with the fish with arms? Tough to say, they won that first game, six three Marlins behind their guy. Cabrera. Mets lose the NLE's lead. They were getting loud in Atlanta. And then guess what? The Mets win the next two. Cookies Carrasco. Jerry Blevins' kids' favorite player, six innings, one earn run, and then Taiwan Walker with a big start as former J.M. Silver Daisy contestant, Brandon Nimmo has a big homer in the second inning of that third game. Met's take two out of three and reclaim that top spot again. Cardinals take two out of three from the pirates,

and that's obvious. Contreras shoved for the pirates in the first game. O'Neill Cruz loved that he's getting going. But then, ya boy, Jack Flaherty, and my boy, Albert Poolehost, with big knights in the second game, and then Kintana shuts down his former team. Actually, Keller goes toe-to-to-toe with him,

but the machine does it again. Albert Poulos that go ahead to run Homer. Go crazy, folks. How about the power from him? Thick, thick. NL Central, they used to be competing with those Cardinals. Now it's looking wildcard only. The Brewers, they take two out of three from the Reds.

They get Lidoloed in that first game. The kid, he's pitching, well, 11 strikeouts. How about you? Reds had a big first inning, put that one away. But then, Hauser. He comes away. Six innings pitch, one earn run. No K's, Trev. How about that? A little old school 90s, 80s pitching. And then Woodruff follows him up and he says, I'll show you the way. 11K's Mandalorian season three. Willie Adom is rowdy to Les when those guys are doing it.

That's when you know the Brewers' offense is clicking. Cubs Giants, both teams kind of out of it at this point. Drew Smiley with a good bounce back start. But then the Giants, They come back, they win the next two. Your guy Gabe Kapler's talking about the young players, giving them some efforts. My guy, Tyro, Joey Bart. This series kind of didn't matter. It ended on Sunday night baseball.

Little rally in the ninth gets shut down with a double play. Giants take two out of three. And then formerly My Rocks against currently My Snakes, the last series in the National League. What do you need to know? Rockies take two out of three. Zach Gallin's scoreless streak comes to an end. But another great start by him, six innings pitch, three-earn runs, 11Ks.

How's your 44.1 inning scoreless streak? Passes Brandon Webb for the longest in team history. And that's what happened in the National League. Is there anyone firing off, like Jake Story Alley is firing off right now? You look crisp and clean in that fucking polo. Your hair looks good. You got you're jacked. Yeah.

You got it. I don't know what it is. How are your hands right now, though? I'm shaking. Are they tight? I'm shaking. I'm not getting them in enough. I'm not getting them in enough.

I tell you who is. The New York Mets, they have a game and a half lead on the Atlanta Braves and the NLEs. Your Phillies, 10 and a half back wild card season for them, and that's fine. The St. Louis Cardinals have an eight game division lead

in the central, 83 and 58. Poppy Gordo placed a couple bets on them preseason looking good. The Brew crew, eight games back, 75 and 66, two games out of the wild card. Dodgers, 96 and 43, dominant. 20 games up on your Padres. How do you like that? 76 and 64 from the fathers.

They are your last wild card team currently. Two games up on Milwaukee, a game and a half back of the Phillies. And Trevor, we're a Kron Pod. The first team we talked about, they swept, they hold on to their firm spot in the wild card. Your Philadelphia Phillies. Yeah, good for them, taking care of business.

The last game, massive rain delay. I guess it was the longest in that park's history. Over three and a half hours. It's tough. Rob Thompson had to decide whether or not to start NOLA because the new rain was coming in. He said, I'm going to do it. So he gets two innings out of NOL.

and that's it. So that's always tough on a manager and a team, but you end up getting a victory. Hoskins getting hot, hits a big homer. He crushed a ball. He crushed it. To the right field.

That thing was loud, bro. He's one of your favorites to watch. His swing is so good. I remember going to Philadelphia and talking to the hitting coach there. I was like, what do you have to do with him? You don't do anything with this guy. Good for you, bro.

Like, take a seat. Just feed him the ball. balls. His swing is legit. It's timing for him. It always is. But yeah, great series. You took care of business. I want to see, how are those, how are those Phillies guys' numbers looking on the year now? Because I know, you know, Harper was out for a while, but he's been killing it. Look at the, I mean, Real Mudo and Hoskins, 813 OPS from Real Mudo, 815 from Hoskins. That's kind of right where you'd want those guys. Cassiano,

on the IL and his numbers are still down. Schwabo with a funky year, those 37 dons, a 795 OPS. You'd expect it to be a little higher with that kind of numbers. But that Philly's offense, end of the day, kind of funny. They're ending up where you thought they would. Reese doesn't know how to have a year with an OPS under 800. Right?

He doesn't know how to. Couldn't it do it. Good for them. I mean, yeah, they are in the wild card right now. they are one and a half up on San Diego, which means they're three and a half up on Milwaukee. So it's going to be tight, man. They haven't ran away with anything.

Like, they're not in the playoffs yet. That's kind of like that was the field in the clubhouse. It was like, hey, like Reese was talking, we're going to have to keep going. And you couldn't ask for anything more as a baseball player. Meaningful games in September. You got the lead. It's in your hands.

It's kind of where they're at. It's a good place to be. If you're a Philly's fan, you got to be happy. And Nola, look, two innings pitch, your arm's fresh now. Yeah. Yeah, I wonder if they have a little road trip at Miami and at Atlanta. I wonder if they do a little shuffle.

Nola's originally lined up for Saturday. I don't know. I mean, again, they got Gibi, Cindergarde, Suarez, and Nola, so how much do you really need to shuffle? Again, some good contribution from Maiton. He's been hitting for them. And yeah, kind of like we, we've talked about with a few teams now. I mean, three and a half in the wild card, you know,

with what, three and a half weeks? Like if you're the Phillies, you just can't slip up at Miami, at Atlanta, with some off days around that. So you get some fresh bullpen. And yeah, their offensive team numbers on the year are, you know, sixth in OPS, seventh in homers, and they're a team, you've said it from day one from their TPPs. You know, if they got their top three in their rotation and they got their dudes in their lineup, we're starting. We're starting. We're starting to get close enough, and I teased it with the AL with the Yanks and the Astros, you can really start mapping out the playoff series. Where the NL is screwed is with the Mets and the Brave still doing the no-pants dance

for that two-seed. That throws off that whole playoff bracket. But good for the Phillies, taking care of business. I was looking at the Wheeler injury. I was wondering he was going to come back. I guess he's a little bit further behind than they want him to be September 20th, I guess when he can come off and they don't think he's going to be able to. That's something to look for.

You hope that you can get him back to make a regular season start before the playoffs or you just take him back at any time. I don't know, man. That's something to definitely keep an eye on. The team that is currently in the wild card closer to those brewers looking in are the fathers. They're hosting the Dodgers for three, which is a bad task for anyone.

even if you're at home. But hey, that first night, Croninworth with the walkoff, he's got the quotes after the game about how good that feels. Yeah, I bet. Don't have to tell you, Trevor Walkoff, ploof. But then they kind of messed with the bull and got the horns. It's just unreal. I mean, seeing that Turner has two home runs in that third game,

you know, Freddie Freeman with a four-hit night, he can just do that. And they do that against Snell, who'd been really good of late. We've been talking about that. So it's tough. What do you do? And Drury gets a con, he's got a concussion. So he's going to be out until at least Thursday.

And, you know, we talk about playoff stuff and we'll see what sorts out in the NL. Dodgers have won eight straight series against the Padres. Yo. Dodgers have been to the postseason 10 years in a row. They just clinched a postseason spot last night. And I love that they're like, you know what? We're like two games away. I think the elimination number is two, I believe, for the division.

Let me see. Three, excuse me. So they just did a little champagne toast last night. Like, let's save the spring for, you know, two days from now when we clinch the division on September 14th or 15th, which is ridiculous. Yeah. Yeah, a couple things.

You mentioned the rain delay in that Philly game. FYI fans, if you don't know, we're up against it at the end of this year. so we're seeing a lot of that. The Yankees and the Rays, they delayed their game for a couple hours to sneak it in because we're running out of days in the schedule. So you're going to see some longer rain delays to get games in. And one of my favorite days of the year is after a team clinches,

after those Dodgers clinch, seeing the lineup the next day, seeing the kids thrown in the lineup. You see a couple more pairs of sunglasses on the bench. That's the good stuff. I only clinched one time my career, Jake. Okay, I noticed my first. first year in the big leagues. I was a rookie so you know my ass was in that lineup the next day. And you still want to party. It's not like you're a rookie and you don't want to party.

So yeah, it was tough. I think I got a knock though. I bet you did. Hey, this is an interesting note, Max has here. And I don't know the full context of this. Okay. Apparently Joe Musgrove declared Justin Turner not a huge threat. That's in quotes. And since that time, he's gone 59 for 159, which is a 371 batting average with eight homers, 40 RBI, and 44 games. He's a pretty big threat. Yeah. The whole lineup's a threat. Did you see the picture of Turner, Bellinger, Gallo?

I went off on baseball today on belly. I was not happy with him at all. Yeah, you didn't like that he went fake top? because he's a young dude. I mean, he's tall, skinny. Like, I'm sure he has, like, some abs. Like, just go and show him off a little bit, man. And if you don't have abs, like I said this morning,

you should have abs. Right. You're Cody Bellinger. Like, you know. Cody Bellinger. That shouldn't be soft. But he is a dad. Hmm.

So maybe that's what it is. Joey Gallo looks great. Who's the other guys? Like Andre Jackson out of the pen. Yeah. Look great. I get why Turner had to do it You know that

But that was good I love The Dodgers are just like Yeah we're just have We're just have fun right now Champagne toast We'll wear some silly outfits This is what we do

Yeah those silly outfit I mean Does it get better than being a Dodger right now wear your team's record at and then they have the silly outfits after the game. I mean, that's kind of what it's all about. And they probably, where are they going right now? Your Dodgers. They're heading to Arizona.

So my snakes. My guess is they got in Sunday night, ended up at like Mastros in Old Town and had a team dinner. That's my guess. Yep. And for those of you keeping track at home, Dodgers are first. OPS, they're first in run scored, they're first in starting pitcher, ERA, and WIP, third in relief pitcher ERA, first in WIP.

So, yeah, yeah. On early November, we could be shrugging our shoulders and saying, yeah, they're different. I think going back east, the New York Mets, because the Braves are actually the Interleague, if I remember correctly. Yes. The New York Mets,

they take two out of three after losing that first night. It's a nervous, a nervous Friday night in New York. The Yanks lost on Jets night. The Mets lose their division lead. You know, Braves fans are peacocking, chests are out a little bit,

and then they flip the script on them. So, you know, Garrett Cooper with the big game in that first game, but Cookie Carrasco comes in shuts them down. Can a grand slam? Yeah, big inning for them, eight-run inning for them. That guy feels like he's always in the middle of it. Sneaky, awesome, awesome move this off-season by them.

And then our guy, friend of the pod, Taiwan Walker, seven innings pitch, one earn-run-run, 10-Ks. That's not his normal night at the ballpark, but huge start for them. And that's where this MET team's got a little bit of resilience to them. there's also that funny buck show Walter fighting with the umps and the broadcast you see that the ground rule double

they got stuck under the wall and they're like wait Angel Hernandez baby Ah Angel Hernandez So Mets they get kind of They get another punch in the mouth And they respond and that's what they've done all year Yeah I've been calling them gritty People thought I was silly

But they really do have that to them I think You know they don't want to be in this position they'd rather have the lead in the division obviously but to answer like this you give up that division lead for the first time what was it all year or fucking something like that

it's been a long time and then to go and win the next two games and then you get to watch you know the Braves kind of like go through the gauntlet out there in Seattle you end up getting the division lead back it's I think that's good for the soul I think that's good for the Mets

you know to get punched in the a little bit and say, oh, I could take it. And now you know. And it's, it's game time. Cana knows it. Everyone on that squad knows it, man. I don't think they're going to shy away from it whatsoever. I think they're really going to enjoy this month. My guy and actually your guy, Eddie Escobar, his last 12 games. How's your 19 for 42? 452 batting average, a 489 on base, a 1.347 OPS. he had been below his standard up until that point this year. And he's got a chance with a, when Eddie gets hot, he gets hot. But if he keeps it rolling, his numbers might end up in Eddie Escobar land.

So, yeah, I mean, it's one of the biggest storylines of the season continues to be kudos to the Mets. And, dude, them and the Braves, I had someone on Wakenjay comment was in the comments saying, like, Mets do this every year. Braves are going to win the division. We don't care. Like, this is so Mets. And it's like, I don't know. I don't know.

But we're going to find out in the next three and a half weeks or so. Because it's getting real. The Braves had their night. And then, yeah, man, it's Mets fans aren't used to the Friday night. Oh, shit. And then being back there on Sunday, like, okay, the boys got this. Yeah, it's going to be excellent baseball. I love it, man.

That time of year, dude. Mets have a homestand Cubs in Pittsburgh, so they can stay hot in the Braves. I know where they're not there yet, but at San Francisco and then the Philly. So, you know, the best division race left in baseball, kind of won a two division races left in baseball. Marlins, they got some bad news. It kind of looked like it, but Jazz Chisholm will be out for the year. That stinks. We don't understand what's happening down there, man.

I mean, Jeter just left before the season. I want to talk to you like off-camera about the whole Jit situation and speech and everything. I want to talk to you about it. But let me tell you something. I'm wearing a sweatshirt and it's like 100 degrees. I'm going to go turn on my fan, so just be there with me first. Maybe even pop that top.

Cardinals pirates, I don't think there's much there. Sorry, it's just two out of three Cardinals Pirates this point of the season. It is what it is. Um, from the series, from baseball history standpoint, Albert Pujos, uh, a two homer series, uh, he ties Arod 696. And then a go ahead two run homer for 697, man, this is, I mean, I've given this guy awards. I've given him stand out, uh, real ones on the show know that, a young me copied this guy's batting stance when I was growing up.

And it's unreal what we're seeing. I mean, it feels like we've seen, leading up until this year, we've seen five years of this older Albert Poolhost. You know, he can't run well. His numbers at the end of the year just seemed to land around like 20 homers, and he hits lefties good, but the rest isn't that great. And here we are, Albert Poulos has an 866 OPS. He's hitting, the fact he's hitting both sides of the plate,

I don't, I mean, he's still demolishing lefties, but the homers this series were off righties. That, I don't know, man, I'm in, I'm loving it. I'm in a certain point of baseball Nirvana with it. I would have lost so much money on if Albert could have got 700 this year. and I'll pass it to my righty power hitter, Trevor Plouf, raising his hand. Do you know what the difference is this year? He's not in Anaheim.

The body likes to produce these chemicals. Yeah. Are they chemicals? I don't know. Testosterone, endorphins. He's showing up to the park excited to play right now. When you're not in races, dude, and you're playing. for individual statistics,

the game is boring and shitty, and it doesn't day in and day out, it gets monotonous. When you're playing for something, you love it. It's the best. When you're not playing for something, it doesn't have that same feel. You have to convince

yourself to get up. I know it sounds stupid, but look at, that guy's played for so long. The novelty of a big league game has worn off for Albert Poo host 12 years ago. Yeah. 19 years ago. okay this is his life this is his work dude okay it just it's different when you're doing that for when you're around the boys and you have a common cause and you're reaching it together and

like it's just different dude i mean i didn't have that that often so like when i did get it i know i appreciated it dude and it didn't it felt different you talk about performance enhancing that shit's performance enhancing bro the bottom line. In the second half, Albert Poulos, if you think we're blowing smoke, 37 games, 340 batting average,

395 on base, a 1.142 OPS. It's not that Albert Poulos has been good for him. It's not that Albert Poulos has been good for the Cardinals. Albert Poulos has been one of the best hitters in baseball since the All-Star break.

And it's unreal. I mean, the guy is 42, years old. He was born in 1980. The dude was three weeks from being born in 79. And he's out here mauling pitchers, half of his age. And Trev, some of that stuff you're talking about, go check out after he hits that Homer, the hug he gives to Yadir Malina, or more so the hug that Yadir Malina gives to him. Because that's, you're right. That's performance and answers, dude. That's something you can't replicate. Some guys that have been through some stuff together

over the past 20, 25 years or so. And it's, it's on, dude, he's three homers away from 700. Oh, he's gonna get there too. You know, like they have essentially clinched their division. Yeah. We're talking about this this morning with C. Rosie, like, essentially, like they're locked into their. spot. They have a chance, an outside chance at that number two seed overall seed, but they got

to make up a lot of games. So it would, in my mind, Albert's going to get a couple extra of bats throughout these last three or four weeks or three weeks, whatever it is. But he has to. Like you're in position already. Let the dude get the A-Bs. I think Marmal understands. And I think he's got enough veterans on his team that are like, do you put, let's get Albert's Mabies. We'll circle up on them in a bit. Cleveland Guardians, they have a two-and-a-half game lead on the Chicago White Sox. Minnesota is four and a half games back, and they are one game under 500 RURO. I think the wild card is wrapped up, especially with the Yankees, taking care of business against the race, which would kind of leave your seating in the AL Central to determine your final playoff teams in the American League. Athletic put out an article about kind of what happened this season. The relievers didn't show up besides Duran, who's had one of the better relieving years of anybody, especially for a rookie. The rest of them have been pretty bad. They have not hit with runners in scoring position. They haven't been able to stay healthy whatsoever. It's just they had a sizable lead in that division, man.

And in his article, he points out, if they just played regular, you know, 500 baseball, they still have that lead because the guardians and the white socks haven't like run away with anything. It's just the twins that played so poorly. But now they're looking back. And I don't know, man. They got a road ahead of them.

But the Guardians took care of business. You got to hand it to them. Like I said, looking at that series, you saw Quantrell, McKenzie, and Bieber lined up. And you're like, okay, that's going to be tough for the twins. Maybe they squeak out one. Well, it didn't happen. Now, Quantra only goes five innings pitch.

But I think I had a, where are my notes? I had notes. He's got notes, people. He's prepped. Guardian starters. 18 and a third innings pitched in this series, two earned runs. That's how you get a sweep. Yeah.

Right there. I mean, they were up 7 to nothing in game one. Final score 7 to 6. So Minnesota tried to come in. Claice said, no, we're good. 6-0 leading game 2. Twins put up four on Shaw on the 9th. They have to bring in Claise.

He shuts him down. That game Archer had to come out with a peck issue. so that's tough. And then two one game entering the ninth, Nailer hits a double, which is like, I don't even know how it happened. It was like a chopper over the first baseman's head

that also bounced over the second baseman. And I don't know. That was one, this was after, the day after Class A had to come in, Karen Check closes this one out. So it's like, just a bad series for the twins.

And I know you wanted to talk about Karen Checks's hair. I already talked about it with C Rosie, but kind of curious how you, what you think about that. Yeah, I want to circle up on this a little bit, because I got some schedules up in front of me and that we are at the time when it matters the most. I mean, Guardians, three versus the Angels.

They got a one-gamer versus the White Sox, which is funny. Before they play the Twins for five, so if you believe in baseball and anything, you know, you've got some hope there. And the Guardians have two series, or no, they have four games with the White Sox the rest of the way. So they've got that weird. one gamer and then they've got three right after the five with the Guardians.

So is there a sliver of hope that if the Guardian's wheels completely fall off, that the AOL mid can end up being open again? Yes. And when the division's been like this all year, I'm not going to rule anything out. Although, credit to the Guardians, they've been fairly consistent. They really have, especially for a young team and what's going on in that division. and kind of the one thing you couldn't do was get swept and they got swept. And, yeah, that's, I guess we'll find out, right?

Like, we're going to find out from these twins if they're in the locker room and each day they come out with the vim and vigor of we almost have to be perfect the rest of the way. And they do. Good on them. Or, you know, the other side of it is the wheels can fall off. And, you know, they're a game under 500. And I don't know. The twins, I think when they signed Correa,

the expectations went up big time this year after last year. And they were there. And then it's all kind of falling apart that, I don't know. I don't know. And yeah, man, it was just kind of a dark,

You know, an awesome night. So they do the Jeter stuff. They got all the Yankees legends. We're having a blast. You know, the one thing you ask of your starting pitcher, Frankie Montas, don't give up a run in the first inning because, you know, let's keep the juice in the stadium. Three pitches, one run on the board.

Rays go pop out double double, and it's one-nothing raise. And you're like, okay, yep, you are the raise, aren't you? And then the Hicks incident happens. It's 4-0. You're looking in the lineup. how are we going to score four runs? We're not.

The Yankees lose. The Rays are three and a half back. And it's just this kind of deep-sinking moment of like a team has never blown a 15-game lead in a division. The Rays, I think at that point after that game, they were 20 and four in their last 24 games. That it felt like it was going to, it felt like it could really happen. and then the Yankees dug deep. They put up two crooked numbers in the first inning. Cluber, they put up six in the first.

The next day, they put up three in the first on a glaver bomb. Tyone gives a good outing. The bullpen's great the next day. The Yankees stretch it back out to five and a half. With the wins, they have the tiebreaker over the raise, that it's really an exhale. And Stanton hits a couple homers. Donaldson comes back and looks good.

Glaber looks good. you go from having a lineup of one and a half guys to feeling like, hey, if Rizzo comes back, which he just got a good update, and Harrison Bader is rehabbing, like, okay, do we now have six or seven guys? It's, uh, I'll be honest, Treve, it feels good. You guys been talking about this forever. Like, this isn't our lineup. We're not trying in August. Now apparently you're trying.

I'm happy for you. Keep trying. That's my advice to these Yankees. Keep trying. Same. agreed. Hey, Jee's is intense. I didn't not, like,

So for the lineup to do that early, I was, like, proud of the team, which is, you know, just kind of a weird emotion for a young 30-year-old guy to look at their sports team. But I really was. They dug deep and they Torres, big games from him, Stanton back-to-back home runs. And if people think I'm being a dramatic Yankee van, Giancarlo Stanton,

your All-Star game MVP, he hadn't had an extra base hit since before the All-Star game. Struggling. So this was massive for them, and as Rizzo comes back and Bader joins the team and maybe one or two other guys,

they got some pitchers, Sevy, Britain, Chapman. Five runs in the third, our guy, Braggie. It's hot right now with the Grand Slam. He was talking after the. the game about the consistency of the

abatts is extremely important. He's saying that's what they want to have going on down the stretch and into the posties. It's not necessarily big swings like his grand slam. It's just passing the baton. You hear guys talk about that all the time. It's really funny because you hear hitters talk about that all the time. Pass the baton, good at bats.

But then you have all the people who think they know about hitting saying, oh, you got to get your ace swing off. No, you know, let's hit a 27 degree launch angle. we can hit the ball over the fence. Like, no, man, like, there are times for that. And you can practice that, and you can have that tool. But hitting is so, so much more than an optimal ace swing.

It's plate discipline. It's getting a tip on a pitcher like you think the Yankees might have had on Kluber. It's understanding this game situation, man. And you do not, as a team, want to be reliant on, you know, the long ball or a three run homer, you just don't. Like if that happens and you can do that, fuck yeah, that's the best way to score runs is hitting a homer.

Everyone knows that. There's no secret about that. But grinding at bats, like, it takes a toll on a pitcher, man. I thought this is really cool. This is kind of off subject, but I want to talk about it because guess what?

I didn't realize. And, you know, he's been in the news quite frequently lately about talking about how, like, you know, he doesn't like the way the game's going, talks about analytics, blah, blah. And like the point didn't really hit for me, like the way he was trying to hit. But one thing he said, maybe think about it. things he's like you know the hitters stepping out of the box gathering themselves giving the pitcher that much time to reload and get his breath back under him and like it's the game has changed because of that and you can do that by just grinding out abs too like even with this pitch clock

coming in making these guys come in if you start grinding out of bats man it the pitchers are going to get tired. And that's what having these quality of bats does. It breaks their heart, man. What do you call Taylor Walls? The chiropractor? Backbreaker, baby. Because when you freaking go 02 to 3-2 and you work a walk, that pitcher hates that. And guess what? The infielders and the outfielders hate that. So, I mean, that's my little tangent on quality of bats. They matter, dude. Like, I get it. You want to hit the ball hard. You want to hit the ball in the air. But, like, if you got a team that can string together quality of bats like this team can

and can also hit the long ball, that's why they're so fucking dangerous, dude. I had no idea that you were that deep in Rod Caru's newsletter. Or boys. Yeah. Honestly, it's so cool to say that on friends of Rod Caru. I don't even know if you know that. And you out-holmered him, if you remember that from last time. He's the best.

Man, I'm, hey, let's go. Okay, let's get fucking weird, right? That's what these are about. Trev, without the shift next year, and some of the moves that baseball is taking, and some of the moves baseball was already taking, seeing, you know, I think we've seen a tick up in guys putting the ball in play and like,

wait, strikeouts kind of are bad because you're not giving yourself a chance. You know, don't just ground out weekly, but, you know, put a bit. barrel on it and see what happens, that baseball is moving in a good direction that I think you're going to see, you're going to see more of that. You're going to see more of an emphasis on good defense, and you're going to see more of an emphasis on guys having, quote, unquote, good at bats. So I don't know. I guess I'm just happy about the direction of the sport.

And we'll continue to see guys that strike people out at alarming clips. That's the bottom line. So I don't want to hear any pitchers complaining about this, dude. And I know what's going to happen. Oh, we had to ban the shift. We had to do this. Why don't we just tell you what's coming now? Well, it's like, dude, that's kind of the point. We don't know what's coming. It's very hard to hit the baseball and you win way more, way more than you lose, buddy. So like, there are just some things that needed to happen. And the baseball world is, I think they're split on some of the stuff that's coming, but I'm optimistic about it making. a product better.

I reserve the right to change my mind. If it doesn't, if it stinks, I can say that. But right now, I believe that the changes will make the game better. I have no idea how we got here, bro. What we talk about the Astros? Got emotional. The Astros got it out of us. And Trev, it's because it's Mike Trout has six straight games with a home run.

And it's like, what? Are you insane? They went on Otani Day. Like you said when you were going through it. Like, yep, guess what? That guy's a freak show. And then surrounded by all of that is how good of a team the Astros are that they take two out of three. They keep rolling.

Verland are supposed to come back this weekend. Circle that one to make sure he's where he needs to be. So, yeah. Astros, angels. Let's move on. I was just going to, yeah, I just started thinking about the Angels offseason and I need to get away from that. So, and the next team is the White Sox, who are part of the conversation. They take three out of four from the athletics.

They take the first three and they lose that last one on Dave Stewart. Retirement Day in the Conoiseum. I love it. But yeah, White Sox are hitting a little bit. Miguel Cairo is the acting manager. Tony Larusa showed up and he's, I guess he got cleared mess. but not cleared to manage. So there's some moving parts there, I guess.

I mean, White Sox are more alive than the twins, so we haven't been saying that all year. They've been hitting. Yoha Moncadu hasn't had like a great season. I think his OPS is in the low sixes, five hits and five RBIs, the two homers in the first game. They absolutely dominated that game. And you have Dylan Seastowing, six shuddy, nine K's doing his thing.

That was an easy win for them. The second game was actually watching the end of this. game. I believe it was 3-0-0 A's going into the 9th and like White Sox just kept going. I mean, Puck was on the mound. He's had a good year. He's a nasty pitcher and they,

there's a solo homer, there was a walk, and then the bottom of that lineup that they had out there. Not a lot of guys you'd be familiar with. Vaughn gets a base at the middle. Everyone knows him. I think he gets it within one. And then, or maybe he tied it.

I think he tied it. Someone gets hit by a pitch. There's another single. Then Andrews comes up. O-1 pitch just double down the line to take the lead. It happened so quick. Yeah. Against a really good pitcher,

and I believe it was all with two outs, or at least the last three runs were all with two outs. Like, that was an excellent victory for the White Sox. I know you're playing the A's. I get that, but like that's not easy to do against that type of pitcher. So like some things that happen in Chicago.

They win the next one. Big 10, too. Lance Lynn does his damn thing. What was his line? Six innings pitched two unearned runs. Andrews is like raking. Yeah. Like we're seeing all these stats.

It's like Joy Minesis going off in Washington while Juan Soto is struggling there. And then you're seeing like the Eugenio Suarez stats compared the Jesse Winker stats. Like those are pretty fun. I'm sure we'll talk about that. Right. White Sox are getting it, man. But I did mention, you know, the Guardian sweep. they actually lose a half of a game here in the standings.

But they're close. They're within striking distance. This is where they want to be. That offense continues to roll and they get the pitching. It's going to be a dog fight, man. Yeah, something to, man. White Sox have two versus Colorado, Detroit. Yeah, you just got to win games.

Win games. I mean, I see Cleveland's on the schedule. They got that weird one gamer with them. Stay winning games. stay hitting because that's starting pitching. If you stay hitting, you'll end up kind of being the team everyone expected. And like we talked about, I mean, whoever wins the AL Central is going to be home for that wild card series and they're going to play the six seed.

So, you know, I don't know how it sorts out between Ray's, Seattle, and the Jays, but, you know, three home games to win two out of three to go on to play probably Houston. you know, end of the day, I don't know what it does because, you know, we just drooled over Houston a little bit. But become a fun part of the season, Chicago. How about that? I think they will be. I like that.

What else? Did Pinder do anything? I love Pender. It's always want to mention his name. We talk about the A's. It's my guy. It is your guy. Hot.

Rangers, Jays. Jays take two out of three. They lose the final game. Martin Perez. God, where are you? his season at six innings one or and run again. But the Jay's put up some big boy numbers and they've been hot and they've been hitting. Eight and two in their last 10 making up games.

They still think they have their eyes on the division. I don't think that's the case. But you get this offense hot. I mean, Bichette, this is a great stat that Max threw in here. First, NLB player with 13 extra base hits and a nine game span since himself in 2019. Wow. so bow getting hot i mean we're we're getting some scuffles out there in in uh toronto against the orioles that was fun james had a breakdown toronto fans did not like that making some friends in

the great north yeah but i mean this is what they this is what they had to do got to keep pace you got to keep going wild card what are they up five and a half just got to keep winning series focusing on that and like i said i think this team would be really scary in a three game set the wild card set And I guess that's where I've, I kind of asked the Blue Jays a couple weeks ago, like, let's go, let's go, and they kind of have. And they're a team that, and I think it's where some of Jimmy's ire is with them,

they're a team that acts like they've kind of already been about it, and they kind of haven't. You know, they didn't get invited to the dance last year. And, you know, they could, this, the ALE East, especially what the Yankees did, should have been more up for grabs than it was. And we'll see how things finish. hey, maybe they go nuts on the raise

and they make themselves a part of the mix. They've got three games left against the Yankees. We will see if those become more in striking distance. I think this team could have the on switch. Like I don't very much believe in that in baseball, but they got the names right, and they've got, especially in the playoffs when you trim some of the outskirts of that roster.

Like, they're a damn good team. Yeah. And, I mean, they're half a game back about Toronto and Seattle. I think teams really want that first wild card seed because they're going to play one of the, you're going to play the AL Central. So. Or no, that's not how it was the last wild card. The best wild card team will get home field.

So for Toronto, Seattle, and Tampa, massively important, obviously. Thanks, Booger McFarland. But if you're Toronto, like, we. We've seen how nuts that place goes. We've seen how nuts Seattle goes. Tampa and the Trap is kind of its own. More so teams don't want to go there than a home field advantage. But, yeah, no, there's definitely something for those.

Maybe stay in the third spot. Maybe just stay in the third spot so you can play whoever comes out of the Hill Central. I think that's going to become a conversation down the end. That's me. I hate it, but I guess we'll see. For some reason, I was thinking the first wild card played, that doesn't make any sense, but... I like it.

And Trev, this... I think this one's quick, and I think it's almost more so a funeral. The Orioles. They lose two out of three to the Red Sox. Five and a half out of the wild card. You think they're dead? I mean, yes, and I'm not that guy.

Like, yes. Got a lot of games to make up. I mean, I'm not going to say they're dead just yet. I mean, they're not where they want to be now. Because they're looking up, I mean, five and a half games at this point in the season, you know, having to play the people that they have to play and jump. Those teams that are in front of them are pretty damn good. I don't know, man. Don't make me say it.

I won't. I won't. Although if you do, maybe that would help. Hey. Braddish, though. Keep doing your thing, man. Keep shoving. Hey, good on the socks.

I know it kind of doesn't matter, but if they could get above 500, I feel like it's not a win. It's obviously not Red Sox fans. goal every year, but it would, you know, from where their season was heading and some of their young players pitching, uh, Bayo, uh, with an okay start, you know, you start the hype train for next year, hopefully. Uh, a funeral of sorts for the Orioles. I'm sorry, man. They're not hearing that they, they're still, they, they believe they're still in it. They have to get hot. You understand that 10 game winning streets can happen, but it's got to start now, baby. We're hyping up.

It's got to start now. Hyping up a lot of 10-game winners. You want anything from Tigers Royals? No. I think this is one we can skip over. Tigers take two or three, and Brady Singer does this thing in the last game. Yeah, no Brady Singer.

Joey Wentz, first career win. Hoss, two homer games, sure. And then the other series that you got big and you put the team on your back, Mariners, Braves. Mariners hosted the Braves for three up in the great northwest. And they take two out of three after dropping that first one. Kind of when we talked about the Mets, the Braves won that first game.

Mets lost their first game. And then they flipped the script in a crazy last game. My goodness, back and forth at the end. Quality baseball. Quality baseball all throughout the damn series. Six, four Braves, they take it to him. Money Mike doing his damn. thing. I said it. It's the most

aesthetically pleasing series we've had this year. I loved it. And I think Friday night was the Apple TV game. I like the lighting in that. It would just, it be hitting for me. Okay?

And then the last game, yeah, I think that's when we could really focus on. I mean, it's for the series. Braves come back and they just stun the Mariners. I mean, they stun them. Money Mike goes triple deck. And then Grossman, my guy goes and gets the lead, and they mash those balls. Like, and it happens so quick.

And then boom. You forgot. Julio's on the Mariners. Homer. And then our guy, Eugenio. That's a signature victory, a signature series. One that you can hang your hat on, like, you really can. I know it sounds corny as shit, but you really can, like, draw from that when you have series like that.

because you know that's a damn good team who just came and snatched something from you. It's like you're walking down the street and this big motherfucker comes and you got your girl with you and some dude like takes her purse from her. What are you going to do?

I'm going to get that purse back. I'm going to get that purse back. You better go get that purse back. They went and got the purse back. It's impressive, man. It really is. I just, it's hilarious that I declared them

dead and here they are. I'm just, I'm, I am praising them to the heavens. But that's what, that's what they did, man. This year, they have been, they have gone on a run. They flipped it, bro. I mean, it starts with Julio, but there's a lot of other guys doing things there. They flipped it and they're one of the better teams in all baseball right now. Everything you said, plus just the, every, everyone listening to this has, when you think back of your good teams and your, whatever team you like, their history. They've got that never out, that comeback in them,

that if you get punched in the mouth, you still got a chance. And Trev, the ripple effects from even, you know, being the bullpen guy that gave it up, and instead of being in that sad, sad locker room and knowing you're the one, it's a party in there, and I got you, I got your back.

I mean, and if you're the Braves, I don't know where they're flying to next, but I bet it's a long flight because Seattle's out there. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's not as much.

Well, they actually went to San Francisco. So not too bad. It's the shortest flight they have. Hey! How about it? MLB schedule people. Julio is insane.

Eugenio, if you haven't figured out, you're going to hear more about him later. Max Reed, your casual six and two. Yep. He's a guy. And a lot of Braves fans chatter about

Kenley Jansen. I said this morning, I think where he's getting on he got unfairly judged in LA. I think people are fairly judging him in Atlanta. He leads the league in saves, but I also believe he leads the league in blown saves. He hasn't he hasn't earned that trust yet with the Atlanta faithful. So I can understand some frustration.

But I said this morning, he's one of those guys that can just go on a run and and be dominant. Like Braves fans had to learn their lessons from last year. You have to learn your lesson. Like you went in, your bullpen was scary for you going into the postseason and ended up winning you the postseason. So like you got those guys back there, the fucking night shift. They're there, man.

And then guess what? If Kenley ends up continuing with his struggles, they got guys that can step into that role. They got a guy that's got paid $50 million to be a closer for the angels. He's pretty good. Like he could do that. They have other guys. My best friend, call him accused back there.

What can he do? Any of those lefties. Yeah, it's, you know, I'll tell you, let's see where Kenley's at when the postseason comes. I'll tell you, I mean, the moment won't be big for him. No. Like, he's been there and he's done that. So I won't bet against that guy,

and it really bummed everyone and if we're being honest and full disclosure, Glaver Torres, he listens to what's going on. He's pretty connected. He's active on social media. He's, you know, he's 25 years old. He's in the mix. A Yankee post something on Instagram.

He's in the comments, and I love it. That's what you want, right? We want our guys to be real people, and he loves the dudes on the team. He had a really good all-star case. Those trade deadline rumors, if you remember that. You know, he could have been in the Pablo Lopez. trade to Miami. Those rumors were happening, and then they came out.

He was on the struggle bus, man. How about 32 games? A 165 batting average, a 461 OPS, and the Yankees needed him. You know, a lot of other guys were injured and out. Recently, he got it going, and he had a two-homer day in that final series, including the first inning three-run homer that really, was the sigh of relief. Like, we're going to go on and win this division.

Glaver Torres, when he is right, man, it feels so easy. He's got soft hands. He can drive the ball the other way. It's just a mix of everything you like in a ball player. My scouting report is, if he's going the other way and he's smiling, that's a dude you don't want to see on the other side of the field. Huge game and day by Glaver Torres. if the Yankees want to do special things this year.

You know, Judge has to be judge. Rizzo and Stanton have to be versions of themselves. Kind of that next layer of making a postseason run. Circle Glaber Torres, Donaldson, some guys like that. Glaber Torres is a guy that can help bring this team to the next level and help locked in the division for them. So big game, big day by Glaber. I like watching Glaber play ball.

you're right when he's when he's right his swing is very pretty he looks like a ball player like that he uh he wears his emotions which sometimes isn't good for him because he can he can go into puppy dog mode which it's an emotional game people like not everyone handles things the perfect way like chill out a little bit you know what when he turns a double play he's got a little cano on him too a little easy little it's it it's not a sport to make look easy and he's one of those guys. Yeah, there was that video when he was miced up not too long ago when he turned the double play. I thought that was really cool.

Yeah. He's fun, man. He had one of my favorite press conferences after that game. A beat reporter asked like, how did it feel when you were, you know, struggling so much? And he was just like, it felt bad. It's like, yeah, okay, let's be open about it. And I hope he finishes strong. So who's, who do you got, Treb? dude there's just so many great performances i kind of was going back and forth i was going to talk more about

oscar gonzalez because i just watched his swing and it's so so good but so violent and loud i'm just very impressed with watching him swing the bat but i'm going with my guy sticks yeah and i hope bd didn't choose him for friend of the week okay good seven innings pitch shuddy five K's two walks. I mean, he's been getting it done all year, but Francona had some quotes after the game talking about, you know, the maturity level. You know, he said like guys start to figure out a routine that works from him. And it wasn't that Tristan wasn't working hard in between starts is now that he's working more efficiently. Like, he understands what he needs to do between starts. And I'm very proud that Tristan is doing that. Like, not a lot of guys take that step

where they understand like they they they find a routine it works for them they he's not afraid to make adjustments like he's kind of got the right head on your shoulders to to continue to get better and that's what we've seen now he's i said he's been good all season but against the twins he's actually been shitty so like in a big series in a big moment to flip that narrative and shut him out for seven in his pitch is very very impressive i guess his Vila was there he was averaging 93 on his Peter, which is like a full mile an hour harder than he usually averages. I mean, I applaud him because we have been following him pretty much his whole career. Like I had him on sequence really early.

I think after like his first start or something like that. And I like the way he threw the ball, but you never know. The guy could be back home already. But sticks has figured it out, man. Like he's kind of like at the big league level had to make adjustments and figure things out in front of everybody, and he's done it. Like, he's turned the page this year. 26 starts.

He's got a 305 ERA. A couple good ones down the stretch. If you're starting your ERA with a two, I mean, either way, an incredible year. And if you're listening to this right now, and you're like, how could you not be talking about, bleep? There were 14 guys that had two homer days. And that's before getting to the pitcher.

So the standouts this week, I don't know. They were incredible. You could have went a million different places. A lot of good pitchers, too. Eugenio we talked about Michael Harris. Justin Turner was like, I was going to talk about him because, I mean, he's just crushed the ball. Yon Monskata with a five-hit two-homer day. He needed that one, Yon.

It's a crazy list. It's a crazy list. And yet, at the same time, baseball can be a humbling sport, Trev. Slump ranch. Trev, we got a couple dudes on Slump Watch this week and I need you to hype them up the right way. I don't really prep for this one. Here we go.

How about our guy Hassan Kim? I mean, normally known for the glove but does enough with the stick. An 0 for 11. Hey, who cares about your bats right now? Those are going to come. Make sure you get out there, separate the offense from the defense.

Go play ball. Go save us a run. You didn't get that run in there? You struck out with a runner and scoring position? Who cares? Go save us. us a run, take control of the defense, be a leader out there. He might be on that all Tommy Edmund team, a 699 OPS, but four war this year.

My dude makes plays out there. How about Brandon Lau? O for 10, new off the IL, but, you know, a key cog in that Ray's offense. Be loud, you haven't really been there much this year for us, but you know the kind of player that you are and you can be and we're here in the stretch run and this is what matters. No one gives a shit about the first five months of the season. All we care about is now. I saw you separating the offense from the defense. He went up the middle with a nice little backhand glove flip to wander. They didn't get the double play, but it was nasty. So that tells me

your heads in the game. I have no problem with you doing what you're doing right now. It's going to come, kid. Would have made that first inning a lot worse if he doesn't get that ball. Mitch Haniguer, Oh, for nine, five punchies. Mitch, we're friends on all the social media accounts. What more could you ask for? You're gonna be fine. You rake. And I believe, I think this is the right person.

He does some crazy workouts where he's gripping things. He's like a climber. Oh, okay. Get into your climbers' mind. Breathe a little bit. You can't be panicking up there on that wall. They'll be panicking right now either. Trust your hands on the wall.
