Yes, and I, Treve, I look at, again, I don't want to give too much away from your standings, but I'm looking at the Marlins and Nationals right now. And they'd be the fourth best team in the American League. Both of them. Marlins are hot. Our guy, we might have to talk some Tony Vitello again.

It's been a minute, him and Rafi, Scoobal, making a scene out there. These key, D pitchers, man. I can't wait. I mean, that's more of a Chris Rose question about, like, what do you think about it? But I can't wait to talk about it. Might be a breakdown coming. Let's just start. our yucking ball.

It's Monday, which means it's the American League. And we're starting off with the Motor City Kitties because they swept the Chicago White Sox. I don't know. The Tigers are searching for any signs of life. It's got to start now. And maybe it started this weekend. Scoobel first start back in Camerica since late April.

It wasn't special, but it was enough. As the Tigers win that one-run game, Kerry Jesus was a carpenter. Troy Melton, undefeated on the year. And the Ding King himself, Dylan Dingler, if it's late, you do not want to see him at the plate. That rhymed. They sweep the White Sox and stay afloat,

even though everyone's talking scoble trade rumors. The guard dogs, get the bidness from the Houston Astros who are playing a better brand, of baseball. Tatsuya, am I? With a nice start. Eleven ponches, okay? Jeremy Pena is back and balling out. The game they lose, Travis Bizzana. A little four-for-four and Joey Cantillo. But Yordan Alvarez has an MVP argument. Are the Astros back? I'm Chris Rose. The Boston Red Sox take two out of three from the Seattle Mariners. They're trying to Stay Alive and Ranger Suarez.

My God, six no-hit innings. Is there a more unassuming pitcher than Ranger Suarez? A couple of the freeze frames of him in Seattle. You're like, this guy's doing it, but this guy does it. The Red Sox, Caleb Durbin showed up and so did Connolly early. But the Red Sox couldn't get the sweep as the Mariners. Logan Gilbert, he might have heard me say something because he has been absolutely filthy his past couple outings.

The Nationals in the race teed it up. I could watch these two teams play all day. But unfortunately, this game was played in Tampa, where the Rays have the best home record in the sport. Jonathan Aranda hits a little bit of a cheapie, but it still counts. Some big defensive plays in this one. Dylan Cruz is back.

By the way, Trev likes him. And I like C.J. Abrams. Sneaky tall. More of that coming later. Rays win the series. The Red Stake 2 out of 3 from the New York Yankees, Cam Schlittler, dominant. 13 strikeouts for the Bigfella as the Yankees' offense does enough.

But it's Reds the rest of the way. South Stewart from Miami, six RBI Day. Spencer Steer steers the Reds to a win. That's stunk. And then Chase Burns continues a side-youngish campaign. Nine and one, a two-flat ERA. The Reds take care of their work in the big city. The Texas Rangers win two.

out of three from San Diego Fernando. Jimmy Norp and Ryan Cohen are at the building for this first game. They were also at the Houston series. National car rental. All right. The Rangers, they went down early. They come back in that first game. Padres winning extra in that second.

And then the Rangers get it done with Wyatt Langford. He's back and performing for the Rangers. Cardinals in Kansas City. Bobby Witt goes out in the first game. So what do the Royals do? do. They have their best offensive series and maybe they play their best defensive game to win the series in those first two games. Jack Caglione is happening people. Let him pitch. That's my only ask. Royals almost get the sweep scoring 10 runs in that final game, but the Cardinals scored 12.

J.J. Weatherholtz, two Homer Day and Ivan Herrera, Panama. Cardinals salvage a set. And the series that Trev did the most research on for some reason. The Angels and the Ace played four games, and they split them. So what are we? Gage jump? Why not? A fan made a nice catch. We've got the video of that coming later.

Elbutt showed up in a big way. Angels win those final two games. You know we're going to talk Walbert Urana and Donovan Walton. That's what happened in the American League. that's fair. It's too old for that. You know, come face to face. In the Central, my division. The guard dogs, 41 and 37. Travis Pizana, go look at that draft class that he was the number one overall pick. Nick Kurtz was there, Jack Caglione, Chase Burns,

and a handful of other guys. He's the one-one pick doing big things, though. The White Sox fall to 39 and 37 after getting sweat. My twins, big road trip, five and one. I called them all. 38 and 41 for us. We're only one game out of the wildcard people. Detroit 33 and 44 and Kansas

City 32 and 46. Then out west. It's still a mess. The Mariners, 40 and 39, the only team above 500. They got a one and a half game leading the division, and it's the athletics right behind them. 38 and 40. Texas, White Langford,

big forearms, 37 and 40 for them. Houston, 37 and 42. Are we counting them out? People? Probably not. And then the Angels, and 47. The wild car, which is always tough for me to read for some reason. I'm not really sure why. Tampa Bay would have the number one spot.

The White Sox would have the number two spot. And the Toronto Blue Jays in the mix right now? A's half game out. Twins, Texas, one, Baltimore, Houston, two. Those are your standings in the American League. The hottest team. Toronto's in a fucking playout spot? The hottest team in the American League over the last 10 games is the Minnesota Twins coming off a six-game roadie with Trev in the booth.

Yeah, Trev, I, you know, I don't apologize. But I apologize for the American League this episode because what are we doing? This pile of mid that goes from Toronto to Baltimore to Minnesota to Sacramento to Texas to Houston. I just someone rise up and I keep thinking someone will. Like I'm starting to get worried. This is the year we look at the AL Wildcard and two teams get in with 82 wins or something. Like I don't know, man. Something's got to happen.

And hey, there were some signs of life. A couple of these teams do have some things on the up and up. I mean, here, let's just talk about this real quick. Does it really matter? Like you'd rather see, you'd rather see, six teams with just bangor records and everybody else suck? Or would you rather have like a,

I mean, the league's talking about parody right now. I don't know. Everyone's within a couple of games of the wildcard. Isn't that what parity is? Yes, I think there's,

I think there's good parody and bad parody. I think the AO... I don't think these teams are that bad. I get the record. I don't think it's like bad baseball, though. And I just looked at Toronto. I thought they were on a heater.

They're not. They're nine and eight in June. They were 15 and 14 in May. They're just, if you can, can float around 500, you're in a good spot. Yeah, that's where I don't, I don't know. Part of me doesn't love it and I still, like, one of those teams has to be good, right? But run differential doesn't tell you there's anything lurking. Like, they're all negative. So I don't, I don't know.

On run differential, you know that. No, that doesn't mean anything. I kind of am too. I don't know why I bring it up. One game skews it so much. Right. That's why everyone, yeah, like, in fact, run differential in the American League right now. There's only a couple teams above it, or have a positive run differential, excuse me. But there's like four teams with a minus five to minus eight. So like one series changes all that.

And we shut up about it, right? Right. You win one game 20 to four and now, whoa, watch out for the Red Sox. Just because it's green in red. That's what's getting. Which I like.

and they're going to be. So I think they do have crazy questions that they're going to have to answer coming up shortly. But I said it on the broadcast for the twins. These four weeks right now, this is the time. You either start winning now, Or if you go the other way, then yes, there's going to be trades made and your team is going to look completely different. So, like, this is that, I don't have a good, like, term for it.

But it's, it's, you got to give your front office something to hope for, I guess. And the tigers are, the tigers are doing that. I mean, obviously you get scoble back. That's a huge kind of push. He makes his first start at Comerica since the end of April. And it's like, okay, that's a big thing to happen. Troy Melton is looking good. you win the last game because my guy Matt Veerling walks it off

and Dylan Dingler's going nuts. I mean, this is kind of what they envisioned coming into the season, essentially, and it all happened in this one series here. So like sweeps will get you back into it. There's no doubt about it. Yeah, and Dylan Dingler's probably where I'll land the Tigers ship today because they still have to show so much. But what Dylan Dingler has been in a league dearth of catchers,

17 home runs on the year. He, or excuse me, 18 now, because he homers in that final game too. And the clutch hitting from him, like some of the stats are just remarkable. Batting, this is after the second game, batting 2.92 with a 958 OPS with runners in scoring position. With two outs in runners in scoring position, he's hitting 375, 1.3. So those are the, those are inning-changing. game changing at bats that Dylan Dingler is doing as a catcher. And he had a massive impact on this series.

And if the Tigers do become a part of this season again, what Dylan Dingler has done to keep them, I mean, I'd say above water, they're not above water. I mean, the boat is filled with water. But it's just a matter if it's going to sink. And when we get to the All-Star game, when we get to that trade deadline, what does it actually look like in the American League? Will there be teams that regret not burying the tigers or the AL being better that when the deadline comes and they get some more guys healthy and scoobel is pitching?

Like what does that feel like? I don't know. I can't give them a like, yeah, like you guys did it because, I don't know, A, my yanks are about to play them. Although Framber and Scuba on the bookends, watch out for that. I don't know. I just, I need to see more. I can't get excited about one week in a baseball from them. I have something else here.

when he's on your team you love the shimmy when he's not on your team makes you want to throw up right that's exactly what this is derrick showman i talked to him when i was down in um chicago and he's like man you got you guys got to talk about this guy mike vassel he's hilarious he's keeping the boys loose he's in the hitters meetings uh you know just such a fun guy to be around so i'm like all let me let me take a look he's doing the wand stuff in the dugout do i like that no but he's not on my team i don't know like it is what it is white socks guys love him and that's essentially what this is we have a guy on our team that's the same way joe ryan does some things we call it the joe ryan experience he throws his gloves sometimes when he's on the mound he's he's he's very uh boisterous if if you

will but because i know him and i know there's no ill intent with it whatsoever he's just really kind of like that. I think it's great. If I'm on the other team, I probably don't like what Joe Ryan's doing at certain points. And that's just the truth. And you know he's my boy, so I'm speaking the truth right now.

It's the same thing with Vassel. I totally understand why Scoob's like, who the fuck is this guy? Like sit down, dude. You're not even playing right now. You're just on the bench. You got a wizard hat and a wand. Like, I get it, dude.

But again, if you're on the white socks, you're like, this guy's, he's our rally guy. He doesn't look like a typical rally guy because he's a massive pitcher, but that's all this is. So I think both sides are right in this. If you either, if you hate it, I get it. If you love it, I get it.

Your Stanford law degree is shown, because you're all over the situation. I mean, maybe there's something that, if I wanted to get ugly, I would say something about like, you know, a pitcher, Vassel got, Tommy Johnny's on the 60-day IL. Like you can't, you shouldn't really be involved in the game, but I don't know. Traveling with the team, but they like him so much.

They're bringing them along. So, and again, like end of the day, do I care? I kind of, the wand stuff's ridiculous. That's one of those. Baseball has a way of sometimes you look back three years and you're like, what the hell was going on? White Sox had a guy wearing a wizard hat with a wand. But yeah, Trev, the quotes when I was reading, A, we've seen Scoobble before. Scouble talks about how competitive he is, and when he's on the mound, he's emotional, and he should be.

Like, we want that from our athletes. That Scouble said, like, yeah, this is baseball. It's a game. It happened. It's over with. Great quote. And then when I was reading Will Venable's quotes, it was very much, like, we're children at our core. We're playing a kid's sport that he was like, well, two umpires come over to talk to us and no one talks to their side.

It's like, okay, dude. All right. Like, this is what we're doing, huh? So, yeah, I think you nailed it. I'm out on the work, children playing a kid sport. I can't stand that. You don't like that. No, because this is professional baseball where there's a lot of things.

Oh, really? Well, Rob just countered you with this. On it, on your own time, do what you got to do, Pop. Terrick Scoobel is out there dealing and he's like, who are you, number one? I am back-to-back Cy Young winner, Winter, Terik Scoobel. I'm the guy. And then it kind of looks bad because, well, they get swept. Yeah. So in the end, I guess scobs and the tigers had the last lap.

I don't know, man. It's just, yeah, I think the perfect encapsulation of it is it just depends what sides you're on. That's it. Well, let's see what goes on with Detroit. I'm excited to watch them against my yanks this week, White Sox. Let's see how they bounce back. Trev, you know, I'm an AL Central guy. Those twins are charging.

Guardians face the Houston Astros. And the Houston Astros, Trev, you mentioned, You're like, oh, the Blue J's hot, 9 and 8, which in the AL is hot. Houston actually kind of hot. There are two games out of a wild card spot, so is everyone. 17 and 11 since May 20th. So in baseball, that's like an actual heater. Your Don has been the guy and continues to be the guy.

Hater is back. Jeremy Pena is back. Jose Altovae is back. there's a case that the Houston Astros are actually a part of this American League season again. Yeah, I know I go back and forth of them. It's sometimes you watch them play and they have series like this. Yes, where Altube is, you know, tomahawking a ball into the Crawford boxes. And obviously, Yor Don's getting his.

The Tetsuya, my experience, I'll call it that. Yeah, right. That'd be a good rebrand. That'd be a good rebrand for him. You don't know what you're going to get. You have no idea. 11 punchies. Okay, I love that.

And then another game, he's going to walk 10 guys and not get out of the second inning. It's, it's, he'll complain about the mounts. I don't know. It's an interesting thing. I think the bullpen kind of getting healthy is huge for the assholes as well. In game three, you got O'Kert King and Hater, nine outs, six K's, only one walk. So, like, they come and do the job. The entire American League has me, like, kind of,

my head when I look at the teams like we were talking about earlier, and the assholes are doing that. Yeah, it's, I think, what are they? You said 17, 11, I guess it's 18 and 12 now after game three. I don't know. Depends on when you go back to. But yeah, they're in the mix, Pop. And again, we used to say they were inevitable.

Didn't feel that way this year. But maybe they're sneaking back into that territory. It's what stood out to me. You mentioned those three lefties in the bullpen. Not a lot of teams have three lefties they can go to, and that feels like, you know, over a series, if you have a big lefty bopper in the middle of your lineup and you've got to face Houston, well,

they could be neutralized for a series, which that can be impactful. Amai, Treb, I rewatch the Amai Ponches, because 11 strikeouts, that's a big boy game. One, first thing I was looking for, body language, had a little more pep in his step. I remember his first good start, we watched it, and he was a sad boy pitching.

you know, he had that pitcher little skip when he struck guys out. He was throwing, a, 97 with the V-Lo, okay, that's different. And then he was throwing his slider with different shapes. He had kind of a change-up slider to lefties, which we heard about that. He had more of a sweeping slider when he wanted it. It was like, okay, that plays at the big league level. And that's different because the whole Houston thing was no pitching. And then I'm going to talk a little Jeremy Pena coming up, spoilers,

because he missed a chunk of this season. Al Tuvei did that, yeah, I'm keeping my heart open to a bad AAL, Houston, you know, formerly the bad guys getting back in the mix this year, fire me up. Okay, I'm in. As far as the Guardians, Joey Cantillo, great start there, career high tying, eight innings, only one earned run in that second game. And then Bazauna kind of coming back doing it. We talked about him a little bit there.

their guardians are they're going to be in the mix I know they have a bunch of injuries right now they're two in four since Jose Ramirez went out they're not scoring runs they don't care they don't they don't ever score runs it's not they're going to be okay and they just retook first place with the White Sox sweep

So yeah they climb the standings With the loss Trev maybe the team that It gets you and me hot Maybe this is the FRF time The Seattle Mariners who after game too dropped back down to 500, the Boston Red Sox who, hey, you know what? Some incredible pitching by Ranger Suarez and Connolly Early.

That helps. Also, Caleb Durbin contributing. Marcel O'Mair contributing. Those are things that Red Sox fans hadn't been hearing a lot of. They win those first two games. Seattle drops to 500. They do win that final game with Cole Young, who's been very impactful this season. And Logan Gilbert, who, yeah,

It just filth. Six runs the entire series for Seattle. I mean, look, I do think Boston has starting pitching. If there's one thing that they have, they have those guys that can twirl the pill. You talked about Ranger Suarez. He's hilarious. I don't know. I don't know what there is to say.

You're totally right. Just kind of out there doing this thing. Velo was down. Velo was down. And Rangers are perfect. Yeah. Yeah. My slide ball is going to work even better today.

Boston, man, I don't know. I think they're just too far gone for me to hop back on the wagon. Look, I get it. I get this. I believe in the roster from the get-go. I look like a fool early on the season. Maybe they'll prove me right later on. But this is an interesting one.

Seattle, I don't think we talked about them deciding as a group to go piggyback, but everyone piggybacks at some different point. Okay. Yeah, we did a little bit of that with Brother Pete when you, were out. And yeah, Peter, Peter had a very similar reaction to whatever you just said, like, all right. I hope this is sick. But if you're losing, it, whenever you try something new, if you lose, it feels really dumb. Bryce Miller, Luis Castillo, which was the original piggyback situation in game one, Bryce Miller says, it was never easy coming out of a one-run game,

especially when I felt like I was rolling, but it was the plan going into it. So there's really not much I can say to change anybody's mind. That doesn't sound like he's on board. Feels like what's the phrase through gritted teeth? Is that the phrase? That's what that kind of sounded like. But to defend it a little bit, they had no part in Ranger Suarez,

no hitting them for six innings. And then getting, we were trying to find a term for this, which this show has been struggling to find terms this year. But they almost got inverted no hit. Or like, they hit in the first inning. and then they went 8.2 innings, no hit the second game. So that has nothing to do with piggybacking.

Okay. Yeah. Yeah. What is this? Does Tracy have some quotes here? Who is Chad Tracy? Corr is tweeting? Is Chad Tracy tweeting?

I know. I was just talking with the pitchers. Never mind. I saw the tweet. Yeah, you're right about Logan Gilbert. Six straight starts. They've won 149 ERA, 0.8 whip, 43Ks, and 36 and a third for him, he's dealing, he's fun.

The Mariners can be fun. J.P. Crawford making great plays there. Defensive play by him to start a double play. They can't be fun. I don't know. They just got, I mean, the offense isn't great, but they ran into a buzzsaw, I think, with the Red Sox starting

pitching. Off day. They got Pittsburgh, Cleveland Angels. All right, yeah. Ranger Suarez, Velo, down. No hit. Logan Gilbert, Velo up. dominant. A lot of ways to skin a cat in this sport. Two of the more fun teams of the season, I don't know ratings-wise how it's landing.

The Nats and the Rays baby. The Nationals in that offense. If it doesn't get you jazzed up by now, I don't know. But Trev, we had a couple fun ones in this. We had a pitch out, which you've been asking for more of and a productive pitch out that stopped a safety squeeze in this game. that's just When we first watched this before the show

I feel like I saw your third basement eyes light up a little bit Well look if you're trying to defend a safety squeeze first and third Or wherever the runners are This is one way to do it because I feel like the runner Is it's an if you're a runner on third base You're taught okay just see the ball down Get your decent secondary But see the ball down and go essentially

So you're really focused on the batter and his bat. And I know the catcher is kind of like right behind them, but it is in your peripheral and maybe you just don't notice. And you're trying, there's like this emphasis inside of you that says, I want to get a really good jump right here. I need to score. And when that happens, sometimes you get a little bit extra with your secondary.

They pitch out. You don't notice it in time. And then you find yourself maybe with your momentum going towards home plate a little bit. And as soon as you have that, it becomes really difficult to get back. I mean, a snap throw from a catcher, it happens in the blink of an eye, essentially. You have no time. I mean, that ball is so much faster than you. So you really have to be anticipating going back here, which is not the play if you're the runner. I love this. This is, I mean, the first game between the Padres and Rangers, two teams I think, yeah, in the same boat kind of finding where they're going to fit in on this season. You're the Padres. You have a Gavin Sheets, Holy Sheets, RBI, and then a Thai France grand slam in the first inning up five nothing. And then you give up six. Yeah. I mean, good for the Rangers, crazy game back and forth.

they end up winning that first one, de Grom touched up in the first inning, man. That's something you don't really ever see from him. And then Mani Machado kind of coming to life a little bit. I don't know what they scored his ball off Langford's glove, but ends up hitting a three-run homer and extras, that second one, which is great. And then the Rangers, White Langford is an absolute stud, man. He hits the three-run homer in the bottom of the third of game three, and they win that one four to three.

He threw Gavin Sheets out at the plate. Holy Sheets got thrown out at the plate. Rangers have players. I don't love the bottom of their lineup, but they can be a good baseball team. I think they showed it a little bit in this series. Yeah, Wyatt Langford. We saw some good outfield throws, which this weekend.

Yeah, Game 1, Mizorowski, this, I mean, we always talk about this could be a playoff matchup. This is going to be a playoff matchup. And if we get it, we'll be really lucky.

Like, how cool would this series be? I just feel like these two teams match up really well against each other, and they showed at this series in the first game, Dubon, you know, shortening up and just trying, I mean, all he's trying to do is just like, I got to make contact with this pitch right here. 101 coming in and sends it gives them the lead right there, two to one.

Yostremski, who's been great for the Braves, coming with some big hits this season, three to one. needed that insurance run because the throw we were talking about in the ninth Bryce Turing coming through looks like he's going to tie the game up

and then Eli White comes up and hammers that throw down and the Braves are able to hang on to that first game which was just an awesome game here's a throw right here it's one of the best throws from charge set yourself

perfect one hop throw got them It's one of those beauties where the ball and the runner arrive at the same time that you kind of, there's a pause when you first see it and you're like, wait, does the catcher still have it in his glove? Wow. Right? And he sure does. And that's the difference.

I didn't see that thing skim the first time. So there's a little two hopper, which means that that throw, the second hop is going to be closer down towards the plate, which allows, like, there's no tag needed. He didn't tag him. He just caught the ball and the runner was into it. An absolute beauty. And even watching that replay of that hit by Dubon, I mean, Albies is, he's almost out at the plate on the throw. I mean, very similar throws that those two switch and this whole series switches.

And Ozzy Albies, man, I knew we were going to talk about this, which we've told the talking baseball people, it's a weird thing where it's like, we try to, for awards and our standout and stuff like that, like, oh, we should try to hit guys. We're not going to talk about a ton on the way through. I mean, it could be an Ozzy Albee's episode. I mean, he's one of our favorite from his Instagram account. But, man, getting that, what was it?

Statcast projected 339 feet getting over that wall. And, man, he's a part of this Braves team that the tenor has changed with guys. Again, we talked a lot with Pete about it, but going back to 2020, three, it was like, oh, all these guys are locked up for a long time contract-wise. And then it got a little nervous because it's like, what's Riley doing? What's Albi's doing? Ozzie's been awesome this year. He's been great, man.

Pretty hilarious quote here. I was looking for a fastball. He threw me one on the first pitch and I fell it off. Then I went to change. I got the two strikes and I was like, be ready. And he said, I guess he threw it where my swing was. Okay. It's kind of true, right?

And the Brewers have been so good in series openers. And they lose that first game. They end up losing the series. But again, both games could have went either way. I mean, well, the wrenches that could get in the way are obviously the Dodgers. And I think we can almost start right in with Penn, the Philadelphia Phillies, because they win another set. Again, every time you bring up the number since they had their managerial change. It's significant after getting off to that 9 and 19 start. They have been one of the best teams in baseball. And Trev, there was also just a little comma that we would say with it is like that the Phillies offense kind of had and gone except Schwerber. Like that was kind of the Phillies thing. It's like Schwab's in a yeah, wow, Marsh is playing great. Harper's been around it. He kind of fully joins the party and Schwerber takes himself into basically another.

He's like, he's cementing himself as a baseball legend that, depending how long Schwabes can continue being this guy, which oddly just feels sustainable, which, you know, as players get up there in age, this is not a sustainable sport. leading 29th home run, Schwerber has, what, seven hits in back-to-back days? Like the summer might be even coming even more in Philly. Yeah, I mean, he has to do the home run derby, right? didn't do it. And then in the last game, this guy, Jose Cabrera, came up for the for the snakes and pitched great. He pitched great. Like the ball's moving all around. He was smiling the entire game, which was interesting to see. But the twins came back

and it was really on a a foolish base running play. Josh Bell tried to go first or third in Corbyn Carroll's face. I think he was going to be gunned out by a bunch, but instead the throw on the bounce hit his hand. It went in the dugout, and that's how they took the lead. So,

the twins play great. I mean, the offense has looked really good. All season long, I mean, they're right behind your yanks for most runs scored in all of the American League, which is kind of cool. But pitching still is, it's an interesting spot. So they did have a good road trip.

Still not like completely sold on them as a team. You and Ryan Kreidler are friends. Look, he had some really nice plays in this series, man. There's the throw watch. It hits his hand. That's it, dude. He had no business. Even going home right here, he should not have gone home.

Good standout. We love some Walbur. And apparently it's A.L. West Day. I'm going Jeremy Pena. In Friday's game, he had two home runs. And as the Houston Astros reenter the chat as a part of this season, just a reminder about Jeremy Pena's breakout last year. Jeremy Pena, in 125 games last year,

racked up a 5.7B war. He was on pace if he had played the whole season for a seven-and-a-half-war season, which is rare air. And I think it's funny as we're, you know, a couple teams named dead as we sneak towards the trade deadline and there's all these scuba rumors. Pena was a name that even as of a week ago was involved in a lot of trade rumors because he has a year and a half left, which is that interesting timeline that a lot of teams like the trade math just works out. You get a guy for a year and a half. We give you this prospect package, bada bang, bada boom.

Houston, who's kind of famous at this point for not giving out the long contracts, I'll tell you what Jeremy Panya is going to get, a long contract, because not a lot of guys can pick it and play offense like he has at the position in the past two years now. So him being back, A, huge for Houston. And yeah, I think the Houston stat was they were 17 and 11 in their last 28 games or whatever it is. And since Jeremy Pena has been back in their last 28, games also 1711. So I don't know. Sometimes things just make sense.

And we're at that point of the season. The Jimmy's and the Joe's on the field matter. And he's a big Jimmy or Jeremy. I'm just, I was trying to put in my head is, Julio Rodriguez is a good comp for Jeremy Pena. And in the fact that, like, yes, they get value from their defense. They play premium positions and they have offensive capabilities. But I feel like for a while, we weren't mentioning Julio as far as, like, elites and I think now we do

some of the seasons that Pena's put up are our elite yeah I think with Pena it was what is the bat fully gonna be like Julio you can kind of tell like okay that's overall 790 OPS for Julio and 740 for Pena so Julio is the better player I'm not trying to say like well I'm just saying the way that we think of them I think maybe is similar

Peña had a material change, if you will, going back to last year, that he's been a different level of hitter, that if he's this guy now, then yeah, I think it is a very similar. Over the past two seasons, Jeremy Payne, an 829 OPS. So that's a different guy than who he was in his first couple season in the big. A little older than obviously Julio as well. That's the big difference here.

Yeah, but that, I'll tell you what, those short stops, they get paid. Interesting. Interesting for Houston. Trev, you know it could have been the Panama Canal. It could have been Ivan Herrera. It could have been J.J. Weatherhole. Carson Kelly showing up. Yeah. All these got G.D. pitchers.

really talk about old Mook. Shore was the only player since stat cast tracking began in 2015 to hit multiple 450-foot homers in the same inning. Pretty good, pretty good. Travis Bazana talked about him, 9 for 21, two doubles, three homers, seven runs driven in on Saturday. It was a big one for Bazana. His first career game, four plus hits, his first multi-homer game, and first five or more runs driven in in the game. That's a lot to talk about right there. It was just a really nice day for him on Saturday.

and the guard dogs need it right now. De Lauder's out, Ramirez is out, Anhele Martinez out, look out. Josh Bell, he's really getting going. Loves the hit in Texas. I found that out. He's from Frisco, Texas, Irving, Texas, excuse me. And he's always just raked, never had a homer in his home state. Finally got one.

He also gets hit all the time. He's been hit 16 times this season. It's the most hit by, pitch by a major league rookie in the modern era prior to the start of July. So he's just in there wearing it, made a nice catch at second base as well.

If you watch the Lord of the Rings films, that's where the hobbits go. When it's all rainy, they meet Aragorn, aka Strider there. He's smoking his pipe in the corner. They love it. They're drinking ales. They come in pints. Just a great scene overall. The Nazgool come find them, but Aragorn's already hidden them. All the good stuff happened. That same end,

in, but back in the day a little bit, it's kind of where this whole thing started off. So look, Saarron is, Gandalf thinks Saarron is trying to come back. And there's this dragon named Smog that he's worried that Saarone's going to be able to use and weaponize him essentially. So Gandalf goes on this little quest and stops the prancing pony because Gandalf likes to spark it up a little bit. He likes a nice meal. And while he's at the prancing pony, Thorin, who is a dwarfish leader, is there as well.

So it's the prancing pony in and Bree. Thorin was seeking counsel regarding his ancestral home. I'm reading this right here, because I didn't exactly know why he was there. And again, Gandalf was trying to figure out a way to stop smog from happening. So the two of them kind of joined forces. and they go on this what's called the quest of Erebor. And in that quest, Bilbo Baggins ends up joining along with them.

And during that, they're in the mines. He goes off into these little tunnels. And that's where he finds the ring. So if this chance meeting doesn't happen, Bilbo's not where he's supposed to be. He doesn't find the ring. Sauron finds the ring. and all of Middle Earth and the kingdom of men,

they're all destroyed, they're all dead evil wins. But because there was this chance meeting at the prancing pony and they go on this quest, Bilbo finds the ring, he keeps it safe until then you see like the fellowship and the two towers and all that. That's what comes from that.

So Frodo, Sam, never would have happened if it wasn't for the quest of Aibor. Now for me, this week, it was a fun trip. I was out there. And particularly yesterday, I felt like there was a few chance meetings. My quest of Avarbor, if you will.

And I said, if you can bring in Pete Alonzo, do it. because you can pencil him in for 35 homers and 100 RBI. He got off to kind of a slow start this season, but the OPS is back up to 812, and if you take out his first couple weeks of the season, which I will now do for you,

because that's the gift I have, I believe if you start on April 12th, so again, literally we're talking two weeks of baseball, Pete Alonzo has been an 868 OPS, a 519 slugging, The stats are there this year. He's got a bunch of opposite field home runs this season, which we talked about how nice it is to hit in Sacramento because you can hit the ball anywhere.

Well, Pete signed with a team that they moved their outfield, their left field out and up before he got there. That Pete, who has some of the best power in baseball, do I know he put an emphasis on going opo? I don't know. Maybe he has some quotes about it. I think he's just trying to hit the ball hard because he does it every year.

every year he has played baseball that Pete Alonzo has been going. He has a career high, 10 opposite field homers this season, which is the same amount he had as last year throughout the whole season. And, Trev, if you remember, part of the reason I liked him for the Orioles, Pete Alonzo just hit his 18th homer this year. The Orioles leader of home runs last year had 17 home runs over 162. So as we're not halfway through the season, Pete has already changed. Baltimore's power output on the year.

And the other thing that has felt different because I knew Pete was going to hit, because Pete hits every year. The Milkman. Colton Couser, Colton Couser got off to a rough start this season, a 193 average of 530 OPS and 41 games to start off the year. No, Bueno. Since he hit the walk-off three-run Homer off of Ken Lee Jansen,

27 games. He's got a 961 OPS. The power stroke is there. Seven home runs, 18 RBI. And Colton Couser, it kind of went from Adley. Like, Gunner's not the personality of the team. He plays hard. He plays with intensity. We saw that with USA. We've seen that for the Orioles. Orioles fans call me out because I kind of said he was a Southern guy that does his thing. And they're like, no, dude, Gunner's got that dog on him. But personality-wise, Gunner leaves that for Adley and that shirt he wore.

And then it was Kouser, man. Kouser was doing all the interviews. Kouser was getting dumped in milk. Kouser was kind of the personality on this team. Now I think these two are the personality on this team. And they've been playing a better brand of baseball. I think it's 13 and 8 since May 21st. The AIL is still there for the taking.

When they get any form of pitching, any form of pitching, they can win games. They've got a stretch coming up. Angels, which we've talked about, Nationals, a little scary. Again, bet the over. And then the White Sox. The Orioles are sneaky eighth and runs this year.

Offensive stats aren't that pretty, but they're getting prettier as they go. Ails open for the taking. Orioles, you just want a cool series against the Dodgers. Go take it, man. They were so fun for a year. Bring that back. Bear in the milk.

This year, the Baltimore Orioles have played 79 games. Pete Alonzo has played 79 games. So I don't know, man. Yeah, the reason I like Pete, he plays every day and he averages about 40 homers a season. So I'm, if that's a crime, lock me up. I love Pete Alonzo. I love him. Dude, the way he plays is so funny.
