Starting point is 00:00:01 Hello and welcome to talking baseball. Step right up and greet the New York Mets. The San Diego Padres will always come back. We got some young bloods we got to hype up this up too. Let's talk ball. Cambo. Hello and welcome to talking baseball. Present to you by Seeky Code Talking 10.
Starting point is 00:00:34 I, Jake StoryElly, captain of my middle school baseball team, the Memorial Mustangs, Trevor Plouffe, Cresby High Captain One of the best high school baseball players of all time It's kind of fucking true man Go fuck yourself Welcome to talking baseball Hey kids
Starting point is 00:01:00 It's September It's real My God Trev I know I do this and I have my little whiny voice that pairs perfectly with my Hobbit hair today For everyone on the YouTube but like three weeks dog it's coming down to it what what is your hobbit name what happened um i'll let you work on that because oddly that's something that's something that falls more in
Starting point is 00:01:30 your lane one of the best high school baseball players to ever play watching rings of power right now and it is it is doing it for me but you definitely are a halfling there's no no doubt about it yeah I'm more a Seelor than anything Although things change for him Look there is a lot of good baseball to talk about I think you're right There's some young guys we gotta talk about I'm gonna give an award to a guy
Starting point is 00:01:56 Who I just can't quit Wow You're gonna give an award to a guy who's 6-5 Which you know I love But there were some sweets There was some I think the playoff race is a Kind of is no hitter combined.
Starting point is 00:02:16 I think the playoff race is that kind of buns. There's one left, right? I think. Well, and we might get stimulated at the end of this because a couple things have changed. Like the Orioles have taken back first place from my, or maybe the Yankees have given up first place. There's some good sports fodder.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Maybe the Guardians are a half game back of first place in the AL. The guard dogs are here. The Houston Astros hate the Cincinnati. Cincinnati Reds. They haven't beat them since 2016 or something. Yeah, what is up with that? I don't know. I don't know what that's about.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Kyle Schwartz is back in a big way. The Cubs? Two losses to the Pirates. And the comeback Padres, man, because they actually jumped the snakes. So they would be hosting in San Diego where you go every weekend now. I don't think they would, actually.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Is that true? San Diego jumped the debacks in the standings today. They're a half game ahead of them. So are the standings. I got to, I'll figure that. Why don't you get those ready, pal? I'll get that ready.
Starting point is 00:03:23 It's Friday, so we will talk some National League baseball. It's brought to you by under 510. Okay, this feels like a setup. If you are under 510, eh, no shame in that. No shame in it. Don't be a heightist. I had no control over my height.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Maybe I started pushing the weights around too early, and we've seen the results of that. Maybe it had something to do. That's a great story to go with. Maybe it's something to do with my father being the exact same height and my mom being two inches shorter. Maybe that was something to do with it. Under 510, I will tell you this.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Medica Short King on the subway said hello today. What up? If you're under 510, this clothes is literally made for you. The clothes fits better. I'm wearing their pants right now. That's a fact. Because I'm going out to a nice dinner tonight.
Starting point is 00:04:19 So I need to wear a nice pair of pants. So I go to my under 510s. I've got those. I've got their joggers. I've got the t-shirts. They have everything for the shorter man in your life. Don't like... This isn't a time to be proud.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Insert Lord of the Rings quote here. Or be proud. Or be proud. Yeah. Yeah. I am under 510, and I wear under 510, and you should too. And this $10 off coupon should help you out. Click the link in the description.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Under 510.com slash talking baseball. Go check it out. Game change. Do I want some goofy, tall, uncoordinated guy yielding a sword for me, or do I want a quick, nimble, athletic hobbit with a dagger that glows blue when the orc were around? I'm telling you who I'd take. God. There must be so, not so many.
Starting point is 00:05:14 There's a few listeners that just don't know what to do with you. When you start, I think Jimmy's one of them. I think you start talking the blue sword. And Jimmy's like, Treff, come on. Yeah, that's a sword. I said it's a dagger. But for me, it'd be a dagger for you. It's a sword.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Okay. Let's do some National League baseball. Why don't we? Treff, we mentioned this. The Houston Astros. We'd have their Achilles. heel. We just need this team to be better than they've been for 50 years. The Cincinnati Reds sweep the Houston Astros. It ends. Hunter Brown and louder for the people in the back.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Brett louder. Wake Forest Braves Ashland shoutout. She had it first. 6.1-0 earned runs. The Reds opened up game one in the fifth inning. They've won four in a row. Ty France. I think he went like nine for 11 in this series. People forget he's a Cincinnati Reds. Hey, Reds are the only team that don't have a problem with the Houston Astros. And yeah, the Astros haven't beat them since 2016. Joe Espada ejected, wild. Speaking of Wild, Trev, you might have to take a trip to flushing
Starting point is 00:06:35 because the New York Mets have won seven in a row, including a sweep of the Boston Red Sox. which might have ended their season and started the Mets. Luis Severino, David Peterson, each with six plus innings. One earn run. Frankie Lindor continues to pursue a runner-up MVP trophy. Not exciting, and they don't give you a trophy. Jesse Winker has found a home?
Starting point is 00:07:04 Like, let's just get that extension paperwork done now. He finishes, he has a homer and four RBI in that. final game, haven't seen Trev and Mark Vientos in the same room. Oh my God. Padres, they take two out of three from My Tigers. Joe Musgrove and the fellas shut them out in the first game. Go check out Jason Adams stats since becoming a San Diego Padre. A U. Darvish is back. Not an impressive line, but impressive comeback. It ends with Fernando, who's also back for San Diego. They just come back in games, Jackson Merrill, three hits. But my guy Parker Meadows, you're not shutting us out.
Starting point is 00:07:48 A little grand salami to take the lead, take the win, get the zero off the board. Haven't been a lot of those in baseball history. Talk about that later. The Brewers and the Cardinals. God, I feel like Trev, you were built for both these teams in these cities. It just didn't happen. It's happening for Jackson Truro. Four RBI and three walks in that first game.
Starting point is 00:08:10 Yo, Adamas and Hoskins with home runs. But your St. Louis Cardinals, what's dead may never die. Twelve innings in the second game. Ten innings in the final one. Luke and Biker with that one-for-one RBI hit. Built like a goddamn refrigerator. Gets the pinch hit off Jill Pye-Aps. I guess the Cardinals are alive.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Hey, the Diamondbacks, snakes alive, baby. They take two out of three from the Giants, and that's obvious. Man, fun first game. Randall Gritchick with two homers to help save them. God, that fuck. God. Zach Gallant's sick shutout. You're going to see him pitching in October again.
Starting point is 00:08:56 He's going to have a big basement one of these days. But we understand Giants fans. Patrick Bailey. He's really good. Walk off hit. Two for four, three RBI. Tyler Fitzgerald. Kind of ruins a game.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Good Merrill Kelly Stark. Pirates take two out of three from the Cubbies. Cubbies had been rolling, but they can't get through a Skeens Day in that second game. Nice little pirates comeback in that first game. And then no hitter, no hitter. Shoda passes it down the line. PCA is flying around the bases every time. It was a fun one in Wrigley, 12-0 and a no-hitter.
Starting point is 00:09:37 How do you like that? The Braves take two out of three from the Rockies, and that's obvious. Chris Sale, sure, familiar with him. And then the Nats and Marlins split two, which I'm sorry. It's just not that time of year. McKenzie Gore with a nice start. And same with Valenti Beloso. We'll dive in that into the third hour.
Starting point is 00:09:59 That's what happened in your National League. Trev should have the standings. We'll see. Jacob Young's outs above average. Oh, my. Gosh, don't get me started on Jacob Young and my young Nats. Well, Houston Tap and a Patrick Corbyn next year. Congratulations, Pop, you are just incredible with your burns.
Starting point is 00:10:19 Don't do that again. I want to mention baseball reference, top players right now on the homepage is maybe an all-timer. We got Jose Abrae of the Astros with the little braids down here. You know I'm a huge Jose Abraeuf fan. I get how it ended there. No big deal. Darrell Strawberry. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Mike Hampton, I believe was the first $100 million guy. Is that true? Oh, interesting. Get the research on it. And then here's, this is for you. Bernard Gilkie. Oh, good thick. Get you a Bernard.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Good thick. Guilky. And the standings. I'm assuming you want the National League stands. His name is thick. His play was thick. I would love the National League standings. Guilky.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Bernard Gilke is a thick name. That's a big name. that's a good opening page baseball reference. Kevin Brown was the first $100 million guy, and I think Mike Hampton right after him. Anyways, let's start out east. Okay, my Philadelphia Phillies, eight games above Atlanta and the Mets, 84 and 56 for them, 76 and 64 for the Braves and the Mets. In a dead heat, you got to love that. My national, 62 and 78, Jake's Marlins, 52 and 88, eish. In the Central, man, Milwaukee. They know what's up.
Starting point is 00:11:42 They know how to win games. 81 and 59, nine games above. Those Cubs who are 72 and 68, the Cardinals one game back, 71 and 69. The Reds after the sweep, 68 and 73, and the Pirates, 66 and 74. Out west, go west, young man. 84 and 56, a five-game lead for the Dodgers over the Padres who were 80 and 62. The Diamondback, 79. and 62 a half game back.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Giants, 69. Nice. In 72 in the Rockies, 52 and 8.9. And Jake, you were right about the wild card because as of right now, Milwaukee would be hosting either
Starting point is 00:12:22 the Braves or the Mets who were tied for the third wild card spot. And then San Diego would be hosting Arizona in San Diego. They have a half game lead
Starting point is 00:12:38 on the Diamondbacks who have a two and a half game lead over the Braves and the Mets. And those are your National League Saints Cups, four games back. Yeah. Thank you, Trevor. Thank you. That's really good. Yeah, the, I mean, the two biggest things in the National League right now, the Mets and the Braves do you know for the wild card.
Starting point is 00:13:03 And I think the snakes and the Diamondbacks jockeying for position. because like as I joked about and you're going back there this weekend, but where what San Diego and that whole town has turned into as a baseball city, the Arizona Diamondbacks, I think it matters a little less for them. They kind of did a road warrior thing last year, so they could probably lean into that. But if San Diego with their pitchers and their lineup and can have that crowd, San Diego worse at home this year.
Starting point is 00:13:35 That's very shocking to me. That is surprising. 542 winning percentage at home, 586 on the road. And maybe if, Beavs, if you can get the Padres, Padre's snakes head to head. Because Braves' Mets are five and five. They have a series. Also five and five for Padres snakes. Jesus, man.
Starting point is 00:13:58 So each of those teams is going to have a series coming up. The Yanks and Orioles have a series coming up. So that's going to be fun in a couple weeks. Hey, let's just check a weird box first because I think the Mets are the main topics. But you and I kind of looked at each other with this Astros Red series, and it's kind of like, I mean, Astros kind of don't give a damn.
Starting point is 00:14:25 If you're an Astros fan, it's obviously frustrating anytime you lose to a lesser team, especially get swept by a lesser team. But all the work they've done to get themselves in this position, And they get a dud from Eric Eddy, who had been electric. Yeah. Doesn't make it out of the first. And then, hey, I hope this turns into,
Starting point is 00:14:43 I don't know how much Red's talk there will be the rest of the way. But Ret Louder, the kid, a lot of clout out of college. He's up with the big boys getting a start. You know, there's a lot of the names that we liked for this Red team all year, but it's, I don't want to. Too little, too late. Seems dramatic, but probably accurate. whatever you'd like to discuss with this.
Starting point is 00:15:07 So, I mean, obviously a great series for the Reds. Verlanda, they tried to get Verlanger through five, and he gave up a little blooper right out of the reach of Altuve in game one that scored two. Then he ended up given some other runs up that, you know, inherited runners that the bullpen gave up. But the Reds take that one. Then they opened it up against Aragetti, like you mentioned,
Starting point is 00:15:28 just a, I mean, two-thirds innings pitched nine earnies on the, he had a couple of those, I believe, at the beginning of the season, if I remember correctly, to put that on the old ERA muscle, that hurts. It's tough. I've seen Bailey Ober has that problem with the twins, just blow-up starts. I think I might tell Jimmy for, like, Jimmy's three things that he should do something on Araggeti. Because Spencer Arrogatti's B. War page right now says negative 0.1, 7 and 12 with a 526 ERA. But before that start, he'd been one of the best pitchers in baseball for like two months.
Starting point is 00:16:08 Yeah. So you shake it off. I'm just keep going forward if you're Erigetti. And then, yeah, there was a great young pitching matchup in that last game. I believe we might talk a little Red Louder later in the app. Two starts for him. We're not doing that anymore. No, we're talking about him now.
Starting point is 00:16:26 Okay, let's talk about Ret Louder now. I mean, two starts, I believe it's, is it 10 in a third total? I don't have it up in front of me, but he's been a really good. Only one-earned run. And now you can look, and if you're in Cincinnati, you say, damn, we got a bunch of young pitchers. We're supposed to have this electric offense, too, like, okay, like, what's up? I think you can dream.
Starting point is 00:16:49 If you're a Reds fan, and maybe even dreaming too much. Maybe you're sick of dreaming, you just want to wake up and get to work. I'm not sure how it is. But if I was a fan of the Reds and I saw Hunter Green having the season he's having. Red Louder come up and do the things he's doing. Understanding you have Abbott and Lodolo and these guys that can get the job done.
Starting point is 00:17:08 I think you're... You can find yourself in a good place, but you definitely just want the results. I don't know, man. This is a great series. Shout out Ty France. I think you went nine for 11. Homeward in the bottom of the seventh
Starting point is 00:17:20 of that last game. For the sweep, that's... I told you, man, once you... I don't know if I was starting, you or Chris Rose about that, but taking the lead in the bottom of the seventh or taking the lead in the bottom of the eight. We talk about that, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:31 So freaking awesome. Oh, you just know, hey, six more outs, three more outs. It's just going home, dog. Yeah, Reds fans and every team. You guys know your team better than we do. We'd love to know where Reds fans are at, because, yeah, I mean, it feels like the excitement for their pitching staff next year between, I know Hunter Green's on the IL right now,
Starting point is 00:17:55 but he kind of broke out Ladolo, Abbott. Ashcraft had a run earlier this year. Now Brett Louders up, Williamson, like, I don't know. It seems like they have talent every year, or everywhere, excuse me. And this year, you know, they had the injury bug early and the suspension that, yeah, I mean, there's going to be like the same Reds hype train next year, and it's going to be an interesting game of chicken of who's ready to get hurt again. For the Astros, they were winners of five straight going into this series.
Starting point is 00:18:27 I think they'll be able to wash it. It will be interesting. I know we've kind of dissed our Seattle Mariners. Mariners, that's talking baseball Midwest. Mariners, you know, they're pitching, man. That Brian Wu. The Mariners are four and a half back. So this time of year, that's a big old hill.
Starting point is 00:18:49 That's got to turn into two and a half, which would mean the Mariners would have to get hot and Houston would have to stay in the bad place, which I don't think anyone believes in, but it's of note for now. I think the team we need to talk about, Trev. No respect. God, me and Rodney Dangerfield.
Starting point is 00:19:09 The New York Met sweep the Boston Red Sox, which as of Monday, and I think there was actually an ESPN article that was like, is any team not in the playoff picture currently going to make the playoffs? And I think the Red Sox got a handful of votes because they thought either Kansas City
Starting point is 00:19:28 is going to limp to the finish line, your twins, potentially, with the Red Sox maybe just finding it. Meanwhile, the New York Mets have now tied the Atlanta Braves for that last playoff spot by sweeping those very Red Sox during Interleague.
Starting point is 00:19:49 And Trev, it's, I know this sounds obvious, but it's all facets of the game. Like, they've got guys doing it on offense. starting pitching efforts. Never mind the oh my God and the trumpets effect in baseball, which how do you even measure that? Is Grimmis back? This series in your Mets, Trev.
Starting point is 00:20:13 It's the polar opposite series because you mentioned the Mets are, you know, getting crazy offensive output from Francisco Lendor and a host of other guys. They found these pitchers in the scrap pile that have been electric. I think they've found a lane. They have guys that can get it done in the back end of the bullpen for Boston. They're just not scoring. They're starting pitching hasn't been good.
Starting point is 00:20:39 And the bullpen's been horrible for them. So this is the outcome of this series isn't that far-fetched. Just sweeps are hard. I understand that. But these are two teams going completely different directions. And you mentioned my twins and the Royals. honestly if there was any team I said this with Chris Rose
Starting point is 00:21:01 if there was any team that is playing competent baseball behind them it wouldn't shock me if one of those two teams was not in the playoff picture at the end of the season but Mariners just can't get the job done I mean it's been year after year of this Detroit is like the only team that you could maybe say
Starting point is 00:21:18 hey man like they're playing good ball but really do you believe that Detroit's going to overcome a five game deficit probably not and then Boston is just on their way down man but yeah Mets are going so Lendor is having such a great season
Starting point is 00:21:32 you mentioned you know second place trophy all this stuff I think that is the case I think they're like I don't know how there could be a first if show hey gets 50 50 I don't know how there could be a first place vote for Lendor but there might be because he plays
Starting point is 00:21:45 every day and doing it defensively as well I think I wouldn't be mad if he got some first place votes I don't think shortstop doing his thing helping a team that wasn't supposed to be there. Shohei, on the other hand, it's only deaching on what's supposed to be a juggernaut team.
Starting point is 00:22:03 I wouldn't mind if Lindor got a few MVP won votes. I think it would be fun for him. How about this? Instead of an MVP, just know that Teddy Ballgame is going to be wearing your cleats this season. Lendoor has some fire new
Starting point is 00:22:18 balance kicks. Are these both new balance guys? I think Shohay and Lindor. They are. Oh. New Balance, catching it in. Makes you think. Can show it get some signature stuff like New Balance? What are you doing? What a rebrand by New Balance? Snaps for them, man. They were, when I was in college, those were not, not the play. You had like the old school kicks. Like if you were like a hipster, you probably wore back in the day, you know, and then dads because they're comfortable. Yeah, but now they've gotten into the sports
Starting point is 00:22:53 for sure. Jack Harlow, Cameron Brink. I mean, this is basically all my Instagram follows. You got a little Jack Harlow and you right now. That's what it is. I think he can't be tall either. I think Jack Harlow's half tall. I'd say he's six flat. I think me and Jack Harlow would have a good time. He's kind of like a sports loser. Like he shows up at just like Louisville games and stuff. Listed 6-2. He's 6-2. You, Jack Harlow, who's the other? other guy you have a good time with? A lot of people. We talked about him earlier in the episode.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Bernard Gilky. Bernard Gilky. Shout out Mets, man. They are, I mean, dude, the pitching has been crazy. We talked about Boston early on in the season. Like, hey, man, like, what are these guys doing? How are they doing it? Like, I think this trumps that.
Starting point is 00:23:45 Luis Severino coming out of injury doing what he's been able to do. Shamanai finding, like, a new gear. David Peterson is like Sandy Kofax. Like, what the heck's going on there? Like they are, it's awesome to see. I'm happy for the Mets. I hope they, I really hope that we have this setup come the second to last series when it's Mets Atlanta. That'd be really fun.
Starting point is 00:24:10 Man, there's something about a punchy upstart Mets team that's in their blood. It's like part of their DNA. Maybe it won't be in a few years. Maybe Stearns is a genius. They got the richest owner and it's already happening before our eyes. Dude, that lineup is deep. And Trev, you mentioned, when we get to playoff times,
Starting point is 00:24:29 and maybe we should do something like a playoffify teams a little bit and actually get their top three starters and their top three guys in the bullpen and find a way to either gamify that or actually diagnose it. I know Mania Severino Peterson doesn't necessarily send chills down someone's spine. But God, man, those guys have been pitching their asses. off.
Starting point is 00:24:54 That, and they, you know, Edwin Diaz and what a down year for him is still a guy you don't want to see at the end of that game. Man, I mean, you know Adam Adivino's going to strike out a ridey and make him look bad. You know that's going to happen. Like, he didn't strike out Whitmerfield and Whitmanorffield was going to be pissed. Dude, I, uh, again, the older you get, I have more respect for the old. Adamadovino pushing 39, just slinging that Frisbee up there.
Starting point is 00:25:24 And the fastball still got a little juice on it too. And by the way, I want to get this out there. And maybe this will be a music video at some point. But I think you, me, and Jack Harlow would do pretty decently on a three-on-three basketball run. Like, I just think it would click. You, him, and who else? You. Oh, me?
Starting point is 00:25:44 Yes. And I know that's not your bag, but I think you would find kind of like a power forward role that you'd really love. Is that the other rebounds? Yeah. What is that? What? What does the power forward do? I would not have guessed a rebound.
Starting point is 00:26:01 I thought a center rebounds. That's why it's talking baseball people. I'm not good with the one, two, three, four, five in basketball. I don't know what that mean. I never played organized basketball, dude. Yeah. When I tell you my one basketball story real quick. Real quick.
Starting point is 00:26:17 We got to get back to the National League. I changed schools my eighth grade year. So new kid coming in town. there was just one kid. His name was Tim, forgot his last name. He was like the guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:29 And first day, I'm talking first day on the basketball court, we show up. I'm like, all right, here we go. Let's see what this guy's got. Steal the ball from him right away. Go make a layup.
Starting point is 00:26:40 And I just see everyone's face like, oh, he just did that to Tim. And I was like, yeah, I'm establishing that I'm the guy now. Right. That was it. That was great.
Starting point is 00:26:53 More of that. that later. It's a great moment for me. I still do. Dude, those moments stand out in a young boy's brain. I've got basketball stories, but that's offseason. Because we need to talk about your Padres a little
Starting point is 00:27:08 more, Trev. And hey, I mean, the Tigers really shouldn't get golf claps. I did tell them just survive the Padres series. It would have been a lot cooler if they won. They did not, they are of the
Starting point is 00:27:22 the kind of dead teams, the zombie teams remaining, they're the team playing their best baseball, where we look at the Seattle's or St. Louis or whatever, and it's just like, we've seen so much of this. The Tigers are playing a different brand with young guys and feeling the energy. That being said, they ran into San Diego Padres, who Joe Musgrove is back in dealing.
Starting point is 00:27:46 Jackson Merrill continues to continue. And Fernando Tatis Jr. is back, A little more on that later But I will say this This is going to sound interesting maybe If you're a Padres fan You went to all three games Monday, Tuesday off weird
Starting point is 00:28:03 Wednesday Thursday This is like as good of a series As you can go to Because you're feeling all of the feelings Number one you get Musgrove back And he deals right in front of you Podres get the shutout Luis a rise
Starting point is 00:28:17 A little knock there to drive in some runs Second game you get the comeback I believe they were down 5-0 at one point, I think. And you get the Jackson Merrill Homer. Opposite field. He's feeling himself. I believe now he has the most runs driven in by a Padre's rookie in Padre's history, which is nice. Mani Machado ties the game up.
Starting point is 00:28:43 And then you get the Nando walk-off. So you're just feeling all the fields right there. And then the last game, you're a strike away from a 9-1-1-9-1-1-0. another shutout and you get your heartbroken. Like, I love it. I think that's all the emotions that you need. You need the lows with the highs. Jake, yeah, did you want to sweep? Sure. Don't be selfish, bro.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Like, take two or three. Get your heartbroken a little bit so the highs feel high again. That's what I'm saying. I think this is an awesome series. More on the rest of it later, I think. But yeah, this was fun. Potters are great, man. I'm a San Diego guy.
Starting point is 00:29:19 I went on a San Diego radio show yesterday. It's all San Diego for me. Your Padres B-War leaders this season. Jackson Merrill, we found out about him basically on the flight over to Korea. To Korea to start the season. Michael King, his first year as a starting pitcher and the main piece in that Soto trade. Dylan Sees traded. Hey, if you can catch the plane, we'd love to have you out there right before the season.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Thorpe and Michael King. Yeah. And then so then Thorpe goes and sees. That tree is weird to me. It's a good tree. It's going to be a good video in a couple years, jolly. And, I mean, if you want to keep going,
Starting point is 00:30:05 number four jerks and pro far, the $1 million man. Final Padres note for me. Fourth on the Padres and home runs this year, it's Machado, 23, leading the team. It's kind of wild. you think, I don't know. Jerks and ProFar
Starting point is 00:30:24 and Jackson Merrill are both tied with 22. Jackson Merrill. How about that? Number four. Kyle Higigashioca, the home run stroka. I was going to say, that was an obvious answer. Wow, how many is that? 15?
Starting point is 00:30:39 16. He's tied with Croninworth. But, yeah, the Padres have been getting it in a lot of different ways. That's how you like it. Got me. Oh, I originally went on the Padres page because I wanted to look up. Trev, I know you've mentioned it and trying to drive it home,
Starting point is 00:31:01 but Robert Suarez has put together a fantastic season as their closer throughout the year. Jason Adam, since coming over, 17 games, 16.2 innings of 054 ERA. And Tanner Scott, 17 innings. is a 212 ERA. So when he's, the Padres playoff formula. It's real, dude. Cease King Musgrove Darvish,
Starting point is 00:31:32 if he looks good, why not? And then Suarez, Tanner, Scott, Jason Adam, you know, you want to. Like if the Padres won the World Series this year, you'd be like, okay. Like, that's not a shot. This is not, yeah, this is, this is a real deal team, man.
Starting point is 00:31:47 And all these guys are together forever, right? Like, is there anybody that's coming off the books? They're just there. I guess pro far. Pro far, yeah. Sign him to one year. But he'll find a way.
Starting point is 00:31:58 He'll sign with the White Sox for 75 mil and then they'll trade him over in half a year. Let's see. What else happened? Matt Beerling hit Homer in this series. He did. I was gonna, off Darvish. I was gonna, are you guys Darvish bros?
Starting point is 00:32:13 Did you get you? No, I got a couple knocks off them. Okay. No Homer, yeah. I ain't fucking with you. Um, Tigers, you're getting a little more later, and you guys, you have a chance and you don't.
Starting point is 00:32:31 Cardinals, two out of three from the Brewers. We got two extra inning Cardinals. I was going to say comebacks here. More your guy, Luke and Baker. I don't know. The Cardinals, maybe their fans are mad that they're not getting more zombie love because they just did it against the Yankees.
Starting point is 00:32:50 They did it against the Brewers now. I don't want to say I'm out on the Cardinals, but I'm a little worn out on them. You're a little worn out on them. Game one, all brewers, Adomis and Trio, these slow-pitched softball swings they're taking up there. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:33:13 It's really fun to see. Adomis, I think, has almost 30 on the year. Good for you. He's got 29 on the year. We're going to talk about his basement soon. 100 RBI, dude. 29 homer, 16 steals. And then Siani, next game,
Starting point is 00:33:30 Goldie hits a hanger, which is really fun to see. I love hanging breaking balls when they get deposited into the seats. He did a really nice job of that. I love when Goldie hits. It's fun. Yeah. God, he's a violent swing.
Starting point is 00:33:42 It's a lumberjack violent swing. He's a big earmust, motherfucker. Oh, okay. Sorry. And then Siani, great play and then a knock in the 12th. It'll oppo base knock to get the job done. You got to love that.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Then he mentioned, yeah, Lucan Baker coming. I believe he was off the bench, pinch hit, a little single through the hole. Okay, Lucan, you can hit homers and have that kind of approach. Just get the run in. Touch grass, bro. That's all you got to do. Look, I wish the Cardinals would have started this earlier.
Starting point is 00:34:16 I want them in there. I want my guy Gibby to be doing it. I want Katie Wu to be able to cover a playoff team. you're going to have to do the royals now? I don't know, man. Damn. I don't know. Sometimes I really do be like that.
Starting point is 00:34:29 A little too late. Too little too late for my, my, Cardinals, if you're asking me. But I'm happy they had a good series, fun series. Pat Murphy had some quotes that were Pat Murphy-ish.
Starting point is 00:34:42 I don't know. They were put on our sheet that he was like, yeah, you know, our young guys. Because they had, I mean, dude, they just had a, sounds easy to say
Starting point is 00:34:51 when you're not a fan of this team. But they had a baseball series where they went 0 for 15 with runners in scoring position, which happens sometimes. And like that's, when you have two extra inning games, that feels even more brutal.
Starting point is 00:35:03 0 for 21 to finish their game on Sunday. So Pat Murphy was, you know, he was like, hey, you know, we got a lot of young guys on this team. A lot of sometimes young guys try to do too much. And dude, I'd... Facts. Right.
Starting point is 00:35:18 The fact that we're even like, something like this would pop up of like, whoa, is Pat Murphy crossing? No, we need more of this. Well, he also has the, he has the background to be able to say this. And people are like, okay, that's right. Like you remember Rowdy Tellaz being like,
Starting point is 00:35:37 man, I had the best game in my career and Pat Murphy telling me I stink after the game. Like, you know, that's just kind of his personality. He's a baseball wifer. Like he's a guy. He's a rat, dude. He's in the trenches with these guys. So he's got a great relationship already.
Starting point is 00:35:54 That's why I think it was such an easy hire for them. You know, this transitional period after counsel, it's so you could go outside of the org, but when you got a guy like Murphy who has these connections with the players and has their respect, I think it was really easy. And now, like, how funny is that? You got the $8 million man over there, you know, struggling to try to get in the playoffs at the end of the year. and then Pat Murphy's just sitting on the iron thrown
Starting point is 00:36:21 and being like, I told you, bro. I got dragons. We got dragons. Those brewers, man. Interesting October. Trev is in the rest of this, I mean, D-BACs Giants, unfortunately, I mean, a really fun first game.
Starting point is 00:36:41 Happy for our boy Matt Chapman getting paid. I don't know what you have there. Cubs Pirates, it was kind of like, Oh, Cubbies. They had so much momentum. They lost the first two games. Maybe they get all the momentum in the world back with a 12-0-0 combined no-no in the last game.
Starting point is 00:37:00 And that's kind of it for me in the National League, although the Braves are the other side of that Mets combo. But I'll let you run for a couple minutes. I mean, snakes keeping pace doing what they can do to see if they can host a wild card set, although I believe their like splits are exactly the same home or road. They don't, they don't care at all.
Starting point is 00:37:24 I don't know what to make of this Giants team. I think they're setting themselves up for the future. Love the Matt Chapman deal. I think he's earned every cent of it. I really do. And then, you know, there's the story about how he turned down money from the A's and that's tough,
Starting point is 00:37:41 especially when you get injured and you're not feeling like yourself and you feel like, man, I left a lot of money on the table for him to, go through free agency, take the one-year deal basically, and then do this is really cool. Did you see the presser? No.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Oh my gosh, man. Beavis, if you can get the presser up, if you can, please, I'll wait, I won't even describe it. You'll just know why I like it. But they have a, I feel like they have a group of players, and that's why it was important
Starting point is 00:38:09 to get Chapman. And sorry, Snakesfins, I know I'm stealing your series here, talking about Chapman, but he's a leader, man. Yeah. Like he's a guy that you can say he's going to show up and show guys how to work. He's good in the clubhouse. Like he's all those things that you need. So now you got Tyler Fitzgerald, Elliot Ramos, Matt Chapman, a Junghu Lee. You have a core. They have a core.
Starting point is 00:38:33 They can sell two guys in the offseason. It's been, you know, they had a good off season this last year. They weren't able to get guys to really stick around. It was one year deals. Maybe that was their fault, whatever. But I think you can sell this core now. Just a little bit of a background in terms of how this guy just signed for a hundred and whatever million dollars i mean how awesome he signed uh the deal back i do like that where you wear your suit i'll wear my suit yeah well said the pipes going the backwards hat my arms look good too on mattie chapman he's got a good body he does i don't know if i answered matt chapman i was not familiar with your arm game i thought oh really i thought he was kind of just like baseball body i didn't
Starting point is 00:39:17 I put him on my hot boy list and people didn't get it, but I've seen this guy. I mean, now with that bankroll and with those biceps, that's kind of my game too. He's roped up. He can dance. He's a gold glover. And with an arm like a freaking rocket, he's hot. Treb, the, uh, something I stumbled into, I think it was an episode of Waken Jake where I was talking about your boy, Maddie Chapman. And his whole free agency made sense.
Starting point is 00:39:42 Like, in a way, his offensive numbers have been on the decline. there was like an injury connected to it. The defense is going to be there, and he's shown that, and it looks like the offense is back. I think there's like a little, there's some Marcus Simeon parallels to be drawn of like hard worker,
Starting point is 00:40:00 you know you're going to get great defense. The offense is going to have high highs that not a lot of people can match. There's going to be some down points that that is what it is. But to give a hard worker, a guy that you know you're going to get contributions in one way, and have that be part of your core and a guy that's bought in on the Bay Area.
Starting point is 00:40:18 Think of some of the BS we've heard about players in the Bay Area recently. That's exciting for San Francisco. I will say this. Because I was a part of it, I have experience with it. That group that was together 2017-2018-2018
Starting point is 00:40:34 with the A is a very good mentorship group. Think about who you had at the helm of that team. I'm not saying I was necessarily one of them. I definitely talked to Chapman a lot in spring training of that 17, told him how good he was going to be, hyped him up, all these good things. But Marcus Simeon went from being
Starting point is 00:40:52 just a horrible defender to now being one of the best defenders in all the baseball. He's out there working every single day. You got Stephen Vote behind the plate, you know, kind of like making sure everyone knows like he's a grinder obviously. I mean, Stephen Vote was
Starting point is 00:41:08 not supposed to be the player that he was. And the list kind of goes on and on there. There's a bunch of good guys who set the precedent. And I think, you know, guys like Matt Olson and Matt Chapman learned from those guys and have just carried it on. Now I think they're seen as the leaders and now they're passing on. It's cool to see.
Starting point is 00:41:29 Go Diane Beck's go. You guys are great. You are great. So is Chris Sayle-Sye Young. So is that Marlins Nat series. I guess do you have any, I feel rude that I don't think we have anything else on the combined no hitter, but we're kind of not. I don't want to say we're not about that life,
Starting point is 00:41:47 but you lost the series. Combined no hitters aren't sexy. I think this is a great, Jared Jones, Paul Skeens. You love that. Yeah. You love that if you're a Pirates fan. You win those two games.
Starting point is 00:41:59 Skeens versus Hendrix is a really fun matchup. Just a guy that throws absolute fuel with the guy that just his fastball is Paulske's change up. Yeah. Not even. Which I love. And the last game, yeah, I don't know. I guess the talk is,
Starting point is 00:42:14 number one show has been great all year long. the talk is should he counsel have left them in I think the Cubs you know they lost Justin Steele to the IL so they weren't taking any chances as a fan obviously I think you want to see show to being able to do that I don't fault Craig counsel for doing it I feel like it's just like that's the safe move right he doesn't want to get in trouble and they they're still trying to make the postseason so he wants to be as safe as possible, 12-run lead. You know, I get it. But I would have liked to see him go back out there.
Starting point is 00:42:53 I would have. It was nice watching that your Porter Hodges slider had some serious bite on it at the end. Let's get to some American League baseball. We're obviously hitting more ball the rest of the way. And we're hitting it with Pickett. Today's episode is brought to you by Pickett. P-I-K-I-T and it's man, it's that time of year.
Starting point is 00:43:17 Football is back. I know. You know, it's an interesting if you want to put on the tinfoil hat a little bit, Trev. You know, a little rain delay before the game. That allowed like 30 more minutes. That's kind of gambling prime time. I don't know. Just like a little theory.
Starting point is 00:43:36 How many bets were made? Are you saying they were cloud seeding? How many bets were made in those 30 minutes that we could. got before the game. Pickett tracks those bets. This is basically your analytics department. We are your baseball analytics department. Pickett is your sports gambling analytics department.
Starting point is 00:43:57 They tell you what you're good at, what you're bad at. You've been killing it at college football? You might get those stats. Hey, you've got to slow down with the Nerfis. Pickett is the place to be. Download Pickett now with code Johnboy to get $3 or $100. or sent directly to your PayPal or Venmo. Wow.
Starting point is 00:44:17 The app is super free and helpful. Scan the QR code on the screen or head to picket.com today. Click the link. Let's do a tidy a.L. As always, we start with America's Division, the Centrale, the guard dogs and the Royals. And the Cleveland Guardians took two out of three. Thank God the Royals got that last game.
Starting point is 00:44:44 They were tail spinning and it tied in like, exact timeline of losing Vinnie P. Tommy FAM! He's on the Royals now. He hit a big three-run Homer to open up that game. Otherwise, before that, it was guard dog season. Josh Naler and Lane Thomas, lefty-righty, they both go Big Fly. Tanner is a vibe. Bibi, six innings, one earn-run run. When Brian Rochio contributes offensively, I feel like this game wins every game. Not to be rude to the kid. I'm just, you know, he's a glove first young shortstop. In game two, four RBI, two runs, contributing in a lot of ways. Kansas City, kind of spinning, hoping not to tail spin. The Minnesota Twins, eh? They split two out of
Starting point is 00:45:35 four with your Tampa Bay raise. The Trevor Ploof Bowl, some are calling this. David Festa with a high strikeout rate. Nice. A double opener game in game three. Treb's going to tell you about some of this. Royce Lewis started his first game at second base. He did have one throwing error. Matt Walner, the Minnesota Moose, home run. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:45:59 Treb's going to talk about it and we'll all listen. Yankees Rangers. About the third straight recap that I've just been fine skipping the Yankees series. The Rangers take two out of three. Yanks win game one. Kind of fun. Colvers Jack Lider The Young Bull and the old
Starting point is 00:46:17 calf had that reverse Carlos Rodon had a great start ruined by Clay Holmes 11th lead-legging blown safe Wyatt Langford breakout happening in live time with the walkoff and the three-for-four the next day and you know Nate Avaldi shut down the Yanks
Starting point is 00:46:33 Yeah He Tough Mariners and A's split four That's kind of crazy The A's the walk-off ace, four straight games. Two they got walked off and two they walked off to start this series
Starting point is 00:46:49 against the Seattle Mariners. And the Mariners, they bounce back. George Kirby with a nice start. Victor Robles, man, he's been balling out for them. I hope he breaks the Mariners offensive player curse because he's playing well. Cal Raleigh with the yacker in that final game. Phillies in Toronto, they played two.
Starting point is 00:47:11 Kyle Schwerber. My God. Four homers in two games. One game he hit three. He is an absolute sick puppy. Christopher Sanchez and Bouten, Francis. That's a nerdy little September pitching matchup if you like ball. Cody Clemens, September callup.
Starting point is 00:47:29 He hits a home run in that final game, too. Phillies win with some good mental fortitude. Dodgers and Halos, they split two games. The return of Shohei, a lot of fodder on that. Walker Bueller, five innings to earn. Can he build on that? We're interested. Mookie Betts.
Starting point is 00:47:48 Don't pitch to that guy. Don't walk the guy in front of him. He will make you pay. But Taylor Ward and the fellas get it done the next night. Mickey Moniac won one with the homer. And the Orioles. They take two out of three from the White Sox, which in a way, that's a disappointment this time of year.
Starting point is 00:48:06 No. They rolled them those first two games, winning by an average of nine and a half runs. Then the White Sox, they get to Albert Suarez. You can't predict baseball. Nikki Lopez, Deep Fly. Dom Fletcher haven't seen us in the same room. Baltimore takes two out of three from the worst team ever.
Starting point is 00:48:27 And that's what happened in the American life. Great job, Poppy. Did you say Old Bull and Young Calf because Garrett Cole's Calf? Maybe. There could have been something Freudian there. A little double entangra right there. Is you okay? A little crampy cramp?
Starting point is 00:48:43 He's fine. Cole's fine. Drink some... Stop going on getting hammered every night. Cole, drink some water. That's what I've been hearing. He loves fine wine. I've been hearing Garrett Cole is just getting hammered everywhere,
Starting point is 00:48:55 not taking care of himself. I see you and Garrett Cole. Just kidding. Having a couple of bottles of wine, the night's going incredible. You guys have like a deep cut baseball fight. Like over the cutter. And it gets hot for a minute, and then you guys are buddies for life.
Starting point is 00:49:16 A couple Southern Cal baseball guys. I know you went to UCLA, I mean Southern California. UCLA Stanford, both with stunning, delightful wives from everything I know. You know the standings? Yes. We're going to start out east because it is Friday, September 6th, and the Baltimore Orioles are in first place, a half game above those Yankees. is 81 and 60. Yankees 80 and 60. Nice round number, Yanks. All right. Speaking of round numbers.
Starting point is 00:49:51 The socks, 70 and 70? Right. That was a jump scare this morning. Okay. Tampa Bay, one and a half game is behind those Red Sox. 69 and 71. We are going to lose our double lock bet. It's okay. I watched them play. They're not a good baseball. Come on. Toronto is 67 and 74 in the central speaking around numbers we're doing it today people the guard dogs are fighting for the first overall seed in the American League they are 80 and 64 games up on my twins who are 76 and 64 Kansas City a half game behind that at 76 and 65 the tiger still over 500 71 and 70 and then the white socks I thought this was supposed to
Starting point is 00:50:42 be a balanced schedule this year, but all the AL Central teams get to play them. They're 32 and 109. They are cruising to being the worst team in all of baseball. And Grady Seismore, I believe it's what, four and 20? Nice. That's got to be tough. All time Johnboy breakdown. Grady Seismore rejection. Pretty good. Umpire. Good gum throw. Jesus, dude. Hunter Wendell said just relax a little bit. He was waiting. He just, a young manager stands no chance against. Yeah, that was, that's a great call. That was like, that was a baseball nature documentary.
Starting point is 00:51:20 It was. Watch, watch as the young manager approaches the umpire. And he doesn't really know what he's about to get into, but he's going to learn his lesson the hard way. You just got here. You just got here. Like, Hunter, you're an umpire, bro. grown men still just screaming go F yourself in each other's face.
Starting point is 00:51:42 I don't know, man. I think we got to like reset a little bit. We got to check in. No, I think that's one of the most pure things that we can do is men. Sometimes you just need to yell at each other. Like, that's okay. Like, there's no chance that it's ever going to end in a physical altercation. Right.
Starting point is 00:51:57 It's just emotion coming out. I think that's probably good for guys. I don't know. That's just me. Sound off. At West, 75 and 65. Kind of a round number. even though it's not around?
Starting point is 00:52:12 Do you consider Fies round? I don't know. The Astros have a four and a half game lead over the Seattle Manors who are 71 and 70. Texas 68 and 73. Oakland, 61 and 80, although they've been very good since the beginning of July 7 games over 500 for them. The Angels 58 and 82. And in the wild card, the Yanks hold the top spots. Minnesota half camp on Kansas City for the second spot. Kansas City obviously holding the third.
Starting point is 00:52:40 So right now, what it would be, it would be Houston hosting the Royals for a three-game set. And the Yankees-posting. The Minnesota wins. Hmm. I would not like that, if I'm being honest. You know, the Yankees' Achilles' heel
Starting point is 00:52:59 is lefty starting pitching, which the twins... You can find some. We'll throw Caleb Thielbar out there for a little bit. there's no one close guys I can't give you anything else Seattle 5 games back Detroit 5 games back Boston 5 and a half Tampa 6 and a half
Starting point is 00:53:16 I think the AL is set It's just jockeying for position That being said like I mentioned earlier Kansas City and the twins are not playing good baseball right now They're playing against each other this weekend They're playing And those are the standings in the American League Basically whoever wins the series this weekend
Starting point is 00:53:33 is almost locked into the playoffs like with another set of three games. I want to say that they have another set at the end. Oh, wow. Oh, I want to say this before. Padre Snakes last season of the year, or last series of the year. So they're probably going to be playing last series of the year
Starting point is 00:53:55 and then wild card. Who hosts? That's going to be. That's going to be a nutty. No, this is the last series for Kansas City. They play, the twins will play Cleveland again, but that's it. They end the year with Miami and Baltimore. I have money, money that I'd be willing to set on fire,
Starting point is 00:54:18 and maybe I'll do this. And it's not a lot. Poppy's not doing so great financially. Maybe like a $10 on the Tigers. I think they're the only team. They're just playing young and dumb baseball. and if the Royals are twins, the royals are kind of spiraling,
Starting point is 00:54:38 if the twins start to spiral, I don't know. That's the only... Don't get me started right now. Don't get me started. I don't think that's going to happen. I like where your head's at. Let's burn through this a.L.
Starting point is 00:54:52 quickly. Yeah, Trev, you go, because I'm honestly not super saucy on any of it. I think it's going to be tough for the royals because of any. I've said that many, many times already on this show. the loss has really hurt. First two games, three runs combined. You mentioned Rokio doing his thing.
Starting point is 00:55:11 A little homer down the line. I didn't hit many homers in Kansas City. It's a great park to hit at, but not for homers. It's a big ballpark, big outfield. Big ballpark, but it is deep out there. 900 OPS against you, by the way. What's that? 900 OPS against you, Darvish.
Starting point is 00:55:30 Oh. Wow. Thank you, Bebs. Wow. They appreciate that one. Tasty. The guard dogs have a formula and it's scary and I think they deserve
Starting point is 00:55:42 all the credit here. They don't need to score a ton of runs although it's like Jose Ramirez is going to pump you for a homer. Josh Naylor is going to pump you for a homer and then one of the other guys is going to do something. Stephen Kwan, it hasn't been great but he might come up big
Starting point is 00:55:56 or it could be a Rokio or it could be a lane freaking Thomas. Somebody's going to do something with a runner in scoring position. Stephen votes got him hypnotized somehow. He's doing it. And then it's, they kind of have a rotation now, which is cool. Like they found their lane, Matt Boyd and, and Alex Cobb, our guy 20 spring training, and then they kick to the bullpen. So they have a formula. And they are, I believe it's half a game back. Okay. For the best record in the American League. So go Cleveland, go, man. I'm such a believer now.
Starting point is 00:56:36 I don't understand how it's. come to this, but they are playing great ball. And Stephen Vote, I don't know, man. Like, is he a lock? Hill manager of the year? I haven't really thought about it, but probably. I think when we last looked at the odds, he was in lock territory. That's what I got from that. Kansas City, man, it's keep going. I know it's tough without Vinny. The twins split the series. They are in an interesting situation here. The Pablo Lopez is. really come on. He's been great. He's been a god send for him over his last
Starting point is 00:57:16 12 starts or something like that. He's been really, really good. But everything else is, you know, the bullpen isn't great. They probably have like three guys that they can trust back there right now. Michael Tonkin is back on the team, which is awesome. He's gotten around
Starting point is 00:57:32 this year, my guy, Michael Tonkin. They need Bucks them back in the biggest way. They do have a little bit of a controversy with moving Royce Lewis to second base. He really doesn't want to play there. He made an air on a throwing erred to home. He's had some quotes, all these things. The twins are in an interesting spot, man. Like they're still getting the job done enough, but it's only because the teams behind them haven't been pressing them at all. They're, they're scary right now. They need, they need
Starting point is 00:58:04 Correa. They need Bucks them back. And I don't know what else they need. The pitching is the pitching is I think questionable to say the least. If you're a person that likes to revisit old trades, when the Clevenger trade happened, Cleveland sent Clevenger to San Diego. Everyone was a little disappointed because they did one of those grab bag packages where they didn't necessarily get the biggest name.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Josh Naylor was in that trade. Austin Hedges, our guy. Matt Waldron. I imagine Josh Naylor on the Padres right now. Matt Waldron. So I don't know Just a funky one to look back at And yeah, they got three straight
Starting point is 00:58:42 Six innings, one earn run starts So watch out from that for Cleveland I keep hearing you say Twins need those guys back Let's get those guys back Trev like Buckson is coming back I believe today or something
Starting point is 00:58:57 I think he's back Correa I don't The longer he's out The more it makes me think he's maybe not coming back And I don't have any inside info on that But, man, I don't know. Crazy.
Starting point is 00:59:11 They need him in the worst way. Your Yanks. Garrett Cole comes out. He's going to be fine. Closer situation is a mess. White Langford with an absolute tank job walkoff granny, which is awesome. Bullpen by committee now? Closer by committee?
Starting point is 00:59:29 That's the word on the street? Well, not their words. They would never say. The Yankees would never say those kind of words. What was the Boone quote? The closer situation is interesting. They're going to get creative. They're going to get creative.
Starting point is 00:59:43 They're going to get creative. Maybe they'll put two pitchers on the mound. I don't know. Yeah, man. If you want some Yankees thoughts, go check out talking Yanks. We were live on the Yes app doing an alt stream when they blew that game. The Yankees are very good. I don't know, man.
Starting point is 01:00:07 They're horribly frustrating. And I, Trave, I genuinely like to think, because at sometimes you're right, you'll call us out and you're going to, like, guys, this is Yankee bullshit. Like, come on, be better than this. They just play an infuriating brand of baseball sometimes. And I know every team does, right? Every team loses 60 games. So, so locked in. Every team goes through that. I get it like, for you guys, it's weird stuff. It's like, guys not hustling down to first base, which obviously really, really frustrates fans. There's no doubt about. that. Infield defense. There's a lack of infield defense. Yes. Frustrates fans. Those are two of the most frustrating things and and blown saves. Those are
Starting point is 01:00:47 maybe the most three frustrating things you can have on a baseball field for fans and you guys are dealing with all of them. Yeah. You'd almost... But I do want to point this out. You still have the second best record in the American League. I get it, man. I get it. You have Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, so there's
Starting point is 01:01:03 this juxtaposition of, wow, this is really cool. And then you have those three things. but I just... I'll allow you to be frustrated. With this Yankee season, they've let a lot of games slip away that it could be a four or five game lead.
Starting point is 01:01:19 And Orioles fans are probably saying the same thing. I get it. That's baseball. But if this Yankee season, the one year with Juan Soto, at least as of now, I do think he gets resigned, but... Garrett Cole's getting older.
Starting point is 01:01:33 Aaron Judge is getting older. Like, if they end up in a three-game wild card and Cole Riggins, just drops that thing on them? Because the Yankees are one of, if not the worst team against, it's probably the White Sox in them versus left-handed starting pitching.
Starting point is 01:01:51 I can't imagine that twins are good against lefties either. I can get some MLB expanded. Let's move on from them. Let's move on from that series. We get it. The Yankees, you guys are mad. They're still in second place, the American League. Mariners, Oakland.
Starting point is 01:02:08 More on Mariners later. Oakland. Shout out. I mentioned your record since July. I had it in my head. I can do the math real quick if you really want to know. In July, Jake, they want 15 and 9, then 14 and 12. Now 2 and 3. That's 31 and 24. So seven games over 500 since the beginning of July. Shout out. That was coming off the heels of a 7 and 20 month. I like what they're saying about Lawrence Butler and Brent Rooker, new Bash brothers out there. That's always fun. We've got to I started hitting homers in Oakland to talk about Bash Brothers.
Starting point is 01:02:42 Yeah. Kind of love that for them. They got a young core there, but they always got a young core in Oakland. Hey, they passed last year's win total. Like, go, go ways go. Philly Toronto, Philly sweep a two game set.
Starting point is 01:03:00 You mentioned Swarber. I don't know. You talked about him later. I'm not sure. I don't think so. You kind of talked me out of it. Okay, good. I mean, yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:06 He hits homers, dude. Yeah. This guy's an absolute beast. I love watching. him play. They go take care of business up in Toronto and Vladdy continues to make me kind of look silly. I mean, I challenged him to be the guy that he could be. I was just wondering if he is just going to be a 780 to 800 OPS guy or is he the 900 OPS guy. Those are two completely different things. He's proven this year that he's maybe somewhere in the middle. This year he's
Starting point is 01:03:34 crushing the ball. Dodgers, Angels split. Awesome. game show his game back it's angels fans are pointing out they didn't give him a video tribute because they already did that on the preseason freeway series in spring training which is fine who cares i don't care about stuff like that they end up walking him and then moogie betts hits a homer on the first pitch a slider that was awesome to see and then they beat up on bobby Miller, which is not a great sign for Dodgers fans. Their rotation is so interesting. I'm sure they'll figure it out. I think Yamamoto is coming back on Tuesday. Yeah, how about that? Which is great. And then Baltimore, two out of three from the White Sox. You saw the highlight. You saw
Starting point is 01:04:22 the drop flight ball. Miguel Vargas is not having a good time. That's it. We hate, we hate sad Vargas means. Yeah, at one point I was going to give Schwabes my standout, and then I debated giving my award, and the award was going to be something along the lines of, like, I don't even know. I was getting ugly. I was getting in the weeds and, like, nerdy Game of Thrones stuff. You know, Shohei has been incredible. Marcelo Zuna has been incredible. Here comes old dog Schwartz, and he's like, he's back to having a really special season. And, dude, he's just one of those players. When we're actually old windbags, like Kyle Schwarbs.
Starting point is 01:05:06 Remember him? Because he's kind of like 13 career war because he doesn't play defense, but he's going to hit 40 homers again. And the whole slash line is there this year. Like the batting average is up to 244. Last year he was like getting close to the interstate at times. Kyle Schwabre at bats in October kind of don't get any better. I didn't hear that last sentence.
Starting point is 01:05:32 Okay. That was brought to you by Tommy John. Tommy John in under 510. That's literally the bottom half of my body today. Tommy John, they're my everyday underwear. I made an adult decision. I had one pair, and I would plan my week around it. I said, you know what, Jake?
Starting point is 01:05:51 Why don't we just make this a thing? And I did. Tommy John, comfy. If I'm being athletic, if I'm in the gym, if I'm chilling, date night, it's always Tommy John. Any situation, they keep you two to three times cooler. That's kind of what I need down there. A lot of heat.
Starting point is 01:06:10 Shop Tommy John right now for huge summer savings. 25% off your first order at Tommyjohn.com slash talking. 25% off at Tommyjohn.com slash talking. See site for details. There's a link in the description. I just re-uped again. You know, these are something you have to, you know, get rate semi-annually, something like that.
Starting point is 01:06:33 And I went with the four-inch length this time, just a little more leg. I don't know. Feels like my sweet spot. Anyways. Stand out performances. Stand out performance. Who stood out for you, Treff? I would have stood up and had my Tommy Johns on.
Starting point is 01:06:54 I had him on yesterday. I know you got him on. You were disgusting with the people at Fanatics Fest. We're going to see him again in our up front. You were like saying, you like, fooled the guy. I almost showed my biscuits at Fanatics. The bird, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:13 Hayden Birds on. my standout. I've forgotten now. Oh, no, I did. I was excited to hear you talk about this. Yeah, I'm excited about this too. Because we haven't talked about this guy a lot this year, and he started off very poorly. And sometimes when that happens, you get lost in the shuffle, especially when your team is really good. There's a lot of guys on. I'm talking to Cedric Mullins and the Baltimore Orioles. Three for six, a double, a home run. Three runs driven in. Three runs scored on Monday. We talked about Lubbob going over there. Take the Center away from him.
Starting point is 01:07:45 That's what we talked about, Jake. And I think at the time it was justified. Do you want to hear some statistics? I love them. May 31st, this guy was hitting 185, 230 on base, 327 slug for a 557 OPS, just not getting the job done.
Starting point is 01:08:06 Not what we've been accustomed to with our guy and Cedric Mullins. But, Jake, since June 1st, We're talking 58 games started, 247 played appearances. A nice chunk of the season here. 265, 347, 451 for the 798. So right of that 800 mark. This is what I love.
Starting point is 01:08:31 24 walks to 41 stolen bases. Excuse, strikeouts. 24 walks to 41 strikeouts. He does have 26 stolen bases. on the year. But if you go overall, this year, he's got 33 walks to 86
Starting point is 01:08:53 strikeouts. So you're talking before that, it was nine walks to 40-something strikeouts. Like he just, he wasn't seeing the ball. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:06 All of a sudden, June comes around, starts walking a little bit more, starts striking out less. And we see, the fruits of that happened. So I'm happy that he's got it turned around. He's obviously a big part of that team. I'm sure he'll make an incredible catch out there
Starting point is 01:09:22 during the playoffs, probably hit a big home run at some point because he's that guy. But I'm happy for Cedric Mullins. The overall numbers right at league average for OPS Plus, he's right at 100, 696 OPS. You'd like to see that a little bit higher.
Starting point is 01:09:38 But he's on his way. So with a good September here, you can get probably back to his career. norms. But I wanted to highlight him because he's gotten lost in the shuffle there in Baltimore. Thank you, Trev. Yeah, I was almost going to white sock you because it was against the white socks, but I like where you extrapolated it to. Yeah, I mean, since June, Cedric Mullins, 850 type OPS guy with what he can do defensively and on the bases. And you're right. I mean, this was a guy that felt like he was fading out of the picture. And there's been a
Starting point is 01:10:13 a couple injury things in there and maybe it's health or maybe it's just something clicking or seeing the ball. Like, you know, your walk strikeout theory. There's got to be something there. That, yeah, he's one of the most entertaining players in baseball. And good. Good for you, Orioles. Great.
Starting point is 01:10:31 Still getting it done defensively. 86 percentile outs above average. You got four. Hmm. Hmm. Trev. For my standout, like I talked about, Kyle Schwerber was here. at one point. He was my award.
Starting point is 01:10:45 He's not here. A lot of names. A lot of dudes I like. I decided, I mean, you know, it's playoff time. So like, sorry, Shoda. Sorry, Zach Gallen. He's always mad at us. The Austin Gomber's name. I'm trying to get better. David Peterson of your New York Mets.
Starting point is 01:11:05 It could have went to Sevee, who had arguably a better start. Seven innings, one earn run, 5Ks. David Peterson, six innings, one earn run, 11Ks. Okay, 11Ks from David Peterson. And, you know, David Peterson wasn't really promised anything going into this season. I feel like Mets and Mets fans were kind of down on him. Last year was kind of supposed to be his year, and he got hit around a little bit. It was 111 innings to the tune of a 503 ERA.
Starting point is 01:11:38 You know, and whether that was bad luck, adjustments, whatever. He gets tabbed in this year, because he's, he kind of came in as their sixth starter. Like, we're going to use David Peterson this year, but off the season he had. Trev, 98.1 innings, a 275 ERA. The strikeouts down a little bit compared to an 11-inning performance, but I don't know what that means,
Starting point is 01:12:04 and I don't know what's going on with your Mets lefties right now because Mania has tapped into something. And David Peterson has been fantastic for the Mets, this whole season and that's one of those things that like his last 13 starts, they're 11 and 2 in them. That you feel that.
Starting point is 01:12:28 Obviously the stats speak for themselves, but there's another level when it's like, you know, I don't want to say a guy you gave up on, but a guy you were dreaming on, he had a tough year, you're not sure this is a big pivot season. If David Peterson has a bad year, that could be it for him as a Met,
Starting point is 01:12:44 instead he has a fantastic season and he's a big part why they are tied with the Atlanta Braves with three weeks to play. I love it. Hey, just be a 6-6-6-lefty. Like you'll be okay if you figure things out. That is the truth of all truths in baseball.
Starting point is 01:13:05 Just be a tall lefty that can throw strikes like someone will give you a job. But yeah, I'm happy for, I'm happy for Peterson, man. It's just another feather. in the Mets cap, whoever the pitching coach is there, the pitching coordinator, whoever the game planned guy is deserves a lot of credit for where they're at right now because they've turned these guys into a formidable force at the end of the season. Exactly when you want them to be going, they've been nice. They've been nice. They've been nice. Jeremy Hefner is the pitching
Starting point is 01:13:38 coach. I don't know how much credit he would deserve on it. Sinker. He come from the twins? Sinker looks like it's up this year. The question's everyone asking. Did Jeremy have come from the twins? I think he did come from the twins. Man, it could have went to Gritchick. It couldn't. Paul Goldschmidt swinging his axe. Tie France, just dominating the Houston Astros.
Starting point is 01:14:01 I'll tell you what. Go check out Shee Landjolier's body. He might be all-Storelli team. I was on his reference page today, 25 homers. He's doing it. He gets to play how a young Trevor Plouffe should have been allowed to play. Hit a home run kid. And he does.
Starting point is 01:14:20 He hits him. But Trev, God, can we do the best part of the show? Dirt nasty's on Fuego. That means I'm on fire, baby. Like Waco. I don't do that anymore. This is a fun one. There's a lot of good guys, a lot of stats here.
Starting point is 01:14:39 We'll start out with a series. Your boy Wyatt Langford against the Yanks. six for 13, two doubles, two homers, eight runs driven in. We talked about the walkoff Grand Slam. It was the eighth regular season walkoff Grand Slam in Rangers franchise history. In the first, since Marlon Bird, I coach his son. Speaking of. He's a big boy.
Starting point is 01:15:03 Marlon Bird's huge. Actually, no, I'm thinking of the wrong guy. Marlon Bird, I don't coach his son. Okay. He is a workout, Weck Method guy. not want to mess. Yeah, we saw Marlon Bird at an eastern event and I thought it was a former NFL guy at first and they're like, oh yeah, Martin Bird's always here. It's like, what? That's a middle linebacker. Yes. First Rangers player with three walkoff hits in the season since
Starting point is 01:15:30 Josh Hamilton on Wednesday, he recorded a different type of walkoff. Ooh, this is just to the Yankees. He robbed John Carlos Stanton of a three-run home run, which ended the game. Yeah. Love that. Nice. Ty France, you mentioned first basin for the Reds, nine for 11, I already talked about that. The best series by Reds players
Starting point is 01:15:50 since Cy Seymour. Say that again. Symore. He did the same versus the Cardinals in 1905. Oh my God. The world wasn't a real place then. It was not.
Starting point is 01:16:04 What was the world back then? There was that great show Yellowstone was doing like a knockoff, like yellow stone i don't know i liked it though um we're going to skip that one because he's the corona player of the ep oh um jackson triillo 10 for 24 in the sea uh the week excuse me um four doubles three homers seven runs driven in six walks he's currently on nine game hitting streak since the beginning of june trios batting 319 with a 929 o psalms and 53 runs driven in 13 stolen
Starting point is 01:16:42 basis as well. The NL rookie of the year is an interesting convo because we had Jackson and Meryl slated in to do this and win the thing, but look at the stats people. They are kind of neck and neck and they're both playoff teams.
Starting point is 01:17:00 So I think it might still be up in the air. I'm not really sure. Beavers, I am writing you something right now. Let's move on. Freddie Freeman, and I do have a mosquito around me. Get away from me. What the freak, dude. Freddie Freeman
Starting point is 01:17:18 for the week, 8 for 22, four homers, 10 runs driven in, four runs scored two walks. We mentioned he had the little break that David Robert suggested. He's came back and he's done marvelous thing since then. How about Lars Neupbar in the week? 9 for
Starting point is 01:17:35 21, two doubles, a homer, six runs driven in, two stolen bases for the 1.1. Two weeks, this is the part you want to be on, Jake. I don't think you've ever been on here, but you can still keep working hard, bud, maybe one day. Thanks. David Peterson, you just did.
Starting point is 01:17:50 You threw a career best 16 consecutive strikes. How about that? The first met started to earn a win on his birthday since Dylan G on April 12. Dylan G is in my book. How about that? But in the two weeks, 20 and a third innings pitch, 18 hits, only four earned runs for the 1.77.
Starting point is 01:18:09 How about Seth Brown? A couple of A.L. West Outfielders here. Seth Brown, 18 for 46, a triple three homers, 12 runs driven in for the one daughter, and Taylor Ward, 15 for 49, three doubles, five homers, 10 runs scored for the one daughter. Now, for the Corona Extra player of the ep, why don't you ever talk about this guy? We're talking about him now, Mariners fans. He's got a big old, big old, big old butt. Kyle Rowley? Say his name in a southern accent. Oh, is it soft? Is it soft? Is it soft? It's like Col Reggans. Coleragins, Cal Raleigh. Exactly, exactly. Six for 17 in the week, a double, one double, two homer seven runs driven in. He's recorded 87 runs driven in on the season. A new Mariners benchmark for the most in a single season by a catcher.
Starting point is 01:19:04 And the reason I highlighted them. Do you know who he passed? I do. his manager. Dan Wilson. That's got to be great clubhouse fodder right there. Hey Dan, nice season you had, but I'm better than you.
Starting point is 01:19:23 Don't tell me anything. And for that reason, Cal Raleigh is my Corona Extra player of the app. Big Dumpur. Congratulations. Fantastic stuff, Trevor. We covered, I mean,
Starting point is 01:19:35 everything from Dylan G to Cy Seymour, who in 1905 led the league in hits, doubles, triples, RBI. 377 batting average, a 98 OPS. I don't, I give no credence to any of that. No Dominican sliders. Yeah. Just a bunch. Come on, average white Ritees on the hill, I would have, I would have thrived.
Starting point is 01:20:04 Get out of here with that. I'm going to stop, because then Symore's family is going to come after us. The best part of the show is followed by the worst part of the show. It's the I.L. update. And we had John Gray, Texas, go to the I.L. Also, Corey Seeger might be shut down for the year. I mean, their season aspirations are out. Let's see what that looks like.
Starting point is 01:20:27 You mentioned Justin Steele for the Cubs sitting out to turn. Lordus Gariel Jr. for my Snakees. Don't like that. Max Kepler, Trev? And Austin Hayes' second I.L. for the Phillies in a tight period of time. Returning from the aisle, which we like a lot more. Fernando Tatez, he is back.
Starting point is 01:20:51 Xavier Edwards slapping it around the ballpark. Christian Walker for the debacks. He's back. He got a hit in his first game. Let's go. U. Darvish, 900 OPS. Trev. Luis Heel returns for the Yankees this weekend,
Starting point is 01:21:05 along with Clark Schmidt and Hunter Renfro, as those veteran Casey Royals fight for their life Trev let's start everyone's weekend Did we start the Oh my God dance? Oh my God Ours looks old
Starting point is 01:21:25 So I know you guys hate my long words At least Jake does I'm gonna keep it tight again Yeah you do Oh my gosh it's been a long day You talk too much at the end of the episode Whatever man
Starting point is 01:21:39 Here's a thing I feel like everybody's had the one that got away or the, let's just go in general, guy or girl, one that got away or maybe the one that kind of treated you badly, but there's just something about, like you can't quit you. Like there's something about like someone not wanting you
Starting point is 01:22:03 that makes you want them. And I don't know why that is. It's just a human element that we have to go through. It's cruel. It really is. It's one of the cruelest things on the planet. It is, man. I got to be honest.
Starting point is 01:22:18 And this is going to sound a little d-baggy, which is kind of my lane. I haven't had that. There hasn't been someone that's treated me. I'm being serious. I really haven't had... I didn't have a lot of girlfriends growing up. I just didn't.
Starting point is 01:22:39 Right. So I really haven't had someone, like... toss me to the side and say, like, no, like I want somebody else. I just didn't have a lot of girlfriends, dude, okay? One when I was like in high school, another one at the end of high school that was like, that's never going to work out. And then I met Olivia. I met Olivia really young.
Starting point is 01:22:56 Yeah, you did. I can't imagine if I met Olivia and then I didn't marry her. Like I would be in shambles. I'd be a completely different person. I would be, I don't know what I'd be, dude. She's my mute. I wouldn't be you. I wouldn't be here.
Starting point is 01:23:14 I want to be here. She was my muse. 100%. But I do understand the longing for something that you can't have. I understand that. But I really want to focus on that aspect.
Starting point is 01:23:27 Someone that did you dirty that you just can't quit. Led Zeppelin has a song about it. I believe it's a cover. I'm not really sure about that. I can't quit you, baby. It's a great song. Go listen to some Led Zeppelin
Starting point is 01:23:37 if you haven't recently. Just turn it on and let it play. There's so many good songs, so many different genres, if you will, bluesy, some folk, some hard rock, whatever you need. They even tried to do like a Jamaican island sound, a fool in the rain, I believe it's called. Anyways, the I Can't Quit You Baby Award goes to my guy, Fernando Tanti's true. Okay. Now, obviously, he came into this league and lit the world on fire. I mean, do you remember Fernando Mania, our Fernando Mania? Obviously, the Dodgers had their own, but this was ours. This is, we saw this kid come up and, dude, the season he had.
Starting point is 01:24:23 Yeah. 84 games in 2019, he hit 22 homers. In a shortened season, it's 17, 2021, 130 games hit 42 homers that led the National League. This guy was 969 OPS, 937 OPS, we were saying this guy is, the new superstar Phil Hughes spent so much money on buying his rookie cards so much money and then things started to go weird man we had like the motorcycle
Starting point is 01:24:54 incident where he was getting hurt and then all of a sudden we get a PED suspension and you know Jay I'm not into that I don't like it cleanest guy in the game Matt
Starting point is 01:25:06 now he said he was treating tape ring worm ringworm what i don't know what that's about i don't get it i don't care like you can't make like there's just no excuse man that i've heard too many excuses to buy your excuse is basically what's going on here um and it hurt i think it hurt a lot of people then fernando came back 2023 switch positions when's the plattie glove out of no that's amazing. Doesn't do it offensive last year.
Starting point is 01:25:43 770 OPS, okay. I said you got to get back to the player that you were before the PEDs for me to really be back on you. And I lied about that because I'm back on Fernando Tatis Jr. He's not to those levels yet. But seeing him get that walkoff hit,
Starting point is 01:26:01 you know I'm a San Diego guy now, seeing him with a shirt off. Yeah, that core was nice. he's a earmuffs he's a fucking superstar dude yeah like this guy is signed through 2032 I believe
Starting point is 01:26:20 he's going to have so many moments and like it wasn't like a great walkoff hit he pulled a ball through the six hole but it was a walkoff hit and we saw the excitement and what this guy can bring to the field is something that not everyone can do that he has the it factor man
Starting point is 01:26:36 and we love the it factor as a society. So I can't quit you, baby. Like, Tautis, I'm all in. Don't break my heart again. Like, you got me back. Don't break my heart again. Bernard and Tadis gets the I Can't Quit You Baby Award. Powerful stuff. He is a superstar. You know, there's something, there's it factors in life that will
Starting point is 01:27:03 will never be able to fully bottle up. It's kind of what makes special. Stephen Tyler Go watch an aerosmith performance Steven Tyler has an it factor You know the kids Your girl Sabrina Carpenter I don't know what it is
Starting point is 01:27:22 But she's got it right now She's spicy Like Fernando Tatis has it Dude I mean that's a That look Look how bad my hair is today It's problematic Fernando Tautis's look is just dialed and natural
Starting point is 01:27:44 and not a lot of people can even go for it and if they did a lot of them would look awful and he's just there. That's just cruising for him. Dude, he's going to hit a homer and he's going to have like a massive bat way, way up in the air, like touching the clouds. I mean, yeah, you just can't compete with that, dude.
Starting point is 01:28:04 He looks like a rock star. Let's get our bodies like that Want to do that? Want to do that? You could go around the streets of like the yuppie Connecticut towns and show them that picture of Tatis and be like, are you guys bad bunny fans? And they'd be like, oh yes, we love bad buddy. He looks like a rock star who happens to be one of the most talented baseball players in the world. Not the best walkoff, but you know, it's a walk off.
Starting point is 01:28:32 Exit Velo, Tigers. Treve, great award. I'm sorry you haven't dealt with more heartbreak. We'll work on that. Blitzball Battle 5. My award, you know, football kicked off last night. We had the flyover. Flyovers are sick.
Starting point is 01:28:54 They flew over one of the new planes. Like, too billy? I don't know. We'll dive into that in our political funds pod. What? I've got us another fighter pilot, Trev. Ted Williams, famously, the only, not the only guy.
Starting point is 01:29:14 He's the only guy in a second. But a great fighter pilot. The stories were like he was the best. And it was almost like one of the biggest feathers in baseball's cap for a little bit. It was like, hey, our guy who's like the best hitter, he just started flying planes and he's the best at that too. Makes sense, right?
Starting point is 01:29:32 Hand-eye anticipation. I can be started on Ted Williams and, like, all the baseball guys that went and fought in World War II. Hope this ends in a good place. No, like, that's incredible. Okay. You're kidding me? Like, men were men? Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 01:29:45 Right. It's pure Americana. It's the greatest story in U.S. history. Okay. Before we get into that. I don't know. I just made that. I might have us another fighter pilot because someone did, would only Ted William,
Starting point is 01:30:03 had done. In MLB history, two players have come to bat on the road, their team down three, and out away from being shut out, a zero on the board all day, and then hit a grand slam to win the game. Ted Williams, Teddy ball game, and Parker Meadows. Parker, welcome. I mean, I think this baseball thing is the path he's pursuing now. And hey, man, I don't, I'm loving something with these baby tigers. What are tiger? Tiger Cubs?
Starting point is 01:30:43 But we can't call them Cubs. These young tigers are having fun. Parker Meadows, I guess my Tim Kirkagin is showing, not my Hayden Bird song. But anytime something like this happens in baseball, the grand slam to take it from the Jaws of Victory, Three nothing, one out from the shut piece to a grand slam for the lead.
Starting point is 01:31:09 You can see something new almost any time you're at a baseball game. And this is not new, but one of two. Okay. I'm all about Parker Meadows, 6-6, Opo Homer. You know like when you have... Yeah, show me that, Beavs. Bottle this up, Trevvon, sell it and we're rich. For all those sad boys who are getting their heartbroken,
Starting point is 01:31:36 like you'll never understand. Sell them this in a bottle. Do you think I ever will get my heart broken? I mean, I sure hope not. I think we would rather not have this conversation. Okay. Love the Ted Williams talk. Love the Parker Meadows stuff.
Starting point is 01:31:53 That's one of those things. I think everyone's been in this situation at least. Maybe not fighting in World War II or being a fighter pilot. But everyone, you know, there's those situations. It's just dire. and 99% of time it doesn't work out in your favor. But the one time it does?
Starting point is 01:32:11 You remember that feeling, dude. Mm. We'd love to be on the bench for that one, that one's all I'm saying. Beavs, do we got a quick stim in us? Oh, yeah. Stimulator Fridays are here, and because it's Friday,
Starting point is 01:32:29 we'll start off in the National League, and if I'm reading it right, I think we have the Braves in because technically on percentage, on division percentage points, they would have the Mets. That'll get solved because the Braves and Mets
Starting point is 01:32:44 will tie each or play each other. They will break this head-to-head tie. So the current five to five will end. So the Braves are in. Congrats, Atlanta. Sorry, Mets fan. Brutal start to the simulator. So the Hank Aaron Bowl continues.
Starting point is 01:32:57 And the Braves are in. Braves take Milwaukee. Chris Sale. shouting. The Padres host the Arizona Diamondbacks this time. Padres. Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow. Which means those Padres would go on to face the Phillies or the Dodgers. We've got the same percentage points there. I believe Phillies are the one at the moment. Okay. Then they play the Hank Aaron Bowl. So which one is the simulator calculating right now? Simulator. Give me something.
Starting point is 01:33:39 Dodgers. Great. Dodgers. Okay. Philly's Padres. Wow. Running that back. Padres.
Starting point is 01:33:52 Padres. Wow. Okay. Let's go to the American League where the New York Yankees are hosting the Minnesota Twins. Yankees. Yeah. Yeah. The Houston Astros are hosting the Kansas City Royals
Starting point is 01:34:08 Astros. Okay, AL Central, thanks for showing up. I believe that sets up the Yankees and the Orioles. I believe so, Orioles. Whoa. Guard dogs Astros. Whoa. Sheen's working quick today.
Starting point is 01:34:29 Astros, Orioles, a lot of orange in the AL. Oh, yos. Baltimore, fulfilling the prophecy. Who will they be playing in the World Series? They're playing the Padres. Wow. Wow. Talk about electric young baseball fandom.
Starting point is 01:34:50 Your World Series champs are the San Diego Padres. That bullpen Fernando Tatis, the simulator works. Everyone, enjoy your weekend with the Draft King's Sportsbook.
