Hello and welcome to Talking Baseball.
The powers of the National League are showing off the Dodgers.
And how about the dominant Milwaukee Brewers?
Let's talk ball.
throws up the force.
A sign of respect.

Watching on the road,
the magenta status that hooks you up at the ballpark,
whatever you're doing, head on over to T-Mobile.
T-Mobile.com slash network.
I am Jake.
That is Trev.
Rob Seraco producing.
Dalton's on the live stats.
Our social team's cranking.
We're looking for a Dodgers creator.
Coach Trev, I thought you were,
and now you showed up in the Padres gear.
How you doing?
Yeah, that's called a,
bait tweet. That's what I learned
about that. Yeah, I'm actually the newest Padres
creator because Ryan Cohen stinks, so
here I am. Just kidding.
I do love Ryan. This is my coach's
outfit the first time I think you guys have seen you
in my actual coach's outfit. I have a gator
here so my neck doesn't get all red.
How about that?
Through a lot of BP today, watched a lot of
baseball today. I'm excited to talk ball with you.
At least I was excited to talk ball with you.
We got a little fight before the show.
Yeah. A little transparency.
You got a bottle of... This could be a real, like, you know,
We always say F or F.
I'm hoping to F.
You got to bottle up that energy.
I think the Eagles just had their annual Jalen Hertz,
Sequin and A.J. Brown get together and have it out.
That's how we're going to end the episode.
Treve, an amazing, I mean, A, nothing early on in Philly, L.A.
Those lefty pitchers, they needed some righty mashers out there,
people looking at the program.
And then what looked like the Cubs could,
get out to that early playoff lead we talk about and change the narrative.
It felt like the two teams that should have done opener or not done opener,
they swapped.
And then here we are later on.
The National League powers look good.
Let's go Cronpot.
That's what we do.
Phillies fans would turn to Jesus as they'd hope Lazzardo could shut down the Dodgers
who are starting to snell the repeat with Blake.
twirling it for LA. Fun game to watch if you like pitching. Six innings. Both
Southpaws allowed zero earn runs and only one hit, but in the seventh, Freddie and
Teosker back to back. Orion belts a fastball, but Kike can't be stopped in any galaxy.
Will Smith steps on stage and slaps one, and the Dodgers show hangs a four spot
with Otani's RBI single.
It's 4 to 1 in the 9th.
But Dave Roberts is trying to steal outs with Blake.
Castellanos with a deep drive to left scores 2.
4 to 3 bunt.
But it's really good defense by the Dodgers
and two pitches from Roki.
Snell to Sheehan to Trinan to Vesia to Sasaki.
Dodgers win 4-3 final.
The standings of this series, Dodgers 2 and O.
Phillies, O and 2.
Both games at the bank.
I guess because it is a team like the Dodgers who have, you know,
obviously a very good roster, you could see it.
But my goodness, this is not what I expected out of this series.
It's not, man.
And I know they made it close there at the end,
and we're going to get into the Dave Roberts decision,
which is we've had some interesting, interesting managerial decisions
so far this postseason.
But the Dodgers, man, you're right.
I guess we should start with the lefties.
because Blake Snell was filthy.
He looks like he's
as locked in as maybe he's ever been.
I guess I can't say that.
Didn't you have a season in 2018
where he was unhittable?
He looks the same though.
It's nasty.
So much so that Chris Roses text to me,
how do you hit Blake's Snell slider?
I have an answer for that.
It's ridiculous.
Everything comes out of his hand the same.
That's why it's so difficult.
And that pitch right there,
that change up,
I know we talk a lot about the curb,
ball the slider. The changeup, having
the, having control of that as well.
I mean, it was
nasty. I believe there was
one about, I think it was right there where he threw
Trey Turner four in a row.
And what are you going to do? It looks like a heater
coming out of his hand. He doesn't, sometimes
pitchers
they'll get around the ball or with that
change up, they choke it so much that you
can see it out of the hand. But
the way he grips these pitches,
everything's coming out like a fastball
and then it's just not a fastball.
and I mean he was he was lights out and obviously Lizardo no slouch either but um you know that was
very very impressive from Snell to go in there and have an outing like that yeah it's just a
certain level of unhittable that Blake Snell can provide and we saw it in the world series going back
um you know 20 20 we've seen it uh you know his sigh young years like again i people have
heard me frustrated on this program for how we treat Blake Snell.
And remember his free agency where he basically got a one-year contract with
your Padres, where he just went out shoved again.
And then the Dodgers signed him.
And everyone, like, I remember when that one dropped.
And, like, I think the rest of the 29 teams gave a collective, like, oh, he's going
to those guys.
Like there was almost because, oh, Snell walks guys, he doesn't go deep into games.
That I don't know, I feel like fans were doing this.
Like, I don't know, some bad team might reach for Snell and he might walk people.
And then the Dodger signed him.
And everyone was like, oh, wait, that's because when he wants, he can make a game so you don't hit him.
And that's what he did today.
There was one hit.
It was a broken bat.
End of the bat bloop in.
And yeah, I think the thing that ends up making this frustrated for Phillies fans,
there's a lot of things that make this frustrating for Phillies fans.
Lazzardo went toe to toe with him, which good for him, man.
He was his own level of nasty.
Like, we're almost familiar with Snell and his slider change up.
Like, he threw a 2-0 slider out of the zone that I forget who was against it.
But it was one of those desperation, not desperation, but you're a hitter.
Trev is like, okay, 2-0, he's looking a little wild.
he's going to give me the fastball right here.
I'm going to give my A swing.
It was a slider out of the zone.
And it's just like, wait, did he just trick me?
Or is that effectively wild or what is that?
It doesn't matter because it's just been dominant
since he's been in the league.
They had a chance there in the bottom of the six.
Harper comes up with two guys on,
ends up striking out,
which is, you know, Jolly Olive had a tweet
that got sent to our group chat about the Philly stars
and what they've done in the postseason.
And it hasn't been great.
and that was an example right there.
And then you knew top of the seventh who was leading off.
Your guy, Teo starts the rally off.
Kike comes through.
I'll be like, you know, a sod off ground ball.
It doesn't matter.
Like he still gets the job done in that inning.
And you felt like at that point, when they put up those runs and made it for nothing,
you're like, okay, that's game.
No, it wasn't that.
but it really felt that way.
Here's the Kike ground ball, man.
Trey made a nice play on this.
Really nothing you can do.
Throw could have been a little bit better
towards the third base side of the bag,
but the way he had to manipulate his body right there
is very difficult.
Had to be perfect and wasn't, essentially.
Yeah, I was interested to see how you would break down that play
because it's on the first base side.
It's a good effort that I don't know what level of you're like,
I mean, this is a playoff series.
I guess if you're a Philly fan,
how much should you be saying like, hey, I got to have that.
Rob, play that back for me if you can.
I want to see where in relation to the mound he was.
So he's coming in.
It's such a slow hit ball.
Yeah, he's trying to, I think he's trying to avoid going up the slope of the mound right there.
So if he just carried his body, you know, in where he was running, he would have hit the mound.
But he had to kind of, like I said, manipulate the body a little bit, go more towards the third base side.
I mean, look, yeah, he could have made that play.
Right.
There's no doubt about it.
He could have made that play.
very not an easy play to make whatsoever throwing across your body um and he
he almost got him man but once that happened you felt like the floodgates were an open
up and they did um a little bit there um but i guess that brings us to the dodgers bullpen and
everyone's been telling me it's going to be a problem and i keep saying i don't think it's
going to be a problem and it's been a problem jake it has been it was it was funky watching this one
with Shelfy, your forgotten rotten teammate and big Philly's fan,
because he was in an absolute pretzel,
because he's, like you said, the Philly stars didn't star.
And these are guys that became Philly folklore legends, Schwerber, Harper.
You know, they go Ofer in this game,
that they had a couple at bats there,
that if that goes different, things change a little bit.
So Shelfi's sitting there and he's like,
okay, I can't really be mad at those guys,
because those guys have given me a lot of really good memories.
And then he was frustrated with Dodgers fans because he's like,
he's like, everyone's telling me how bad this Dodgers bullpen is.
And in game one, I see Glass Now in Roki Sasaki.
So I haven't exactly seen that.
And then when he's at his lowest moment, it's 4 to 1.
Like they get one off Emmett Sheehan, which is like, I don't know, they're like golf snaps.
Okay, it's 4 to 1.
Is this really going to mean they're going to go to Roki
and he's going to shut it down and we're going to be sad again.
they go to Trinan out of the bullpen
and everyone lit up
literally the Phillies
if you were watching the game you're just like
he has not been the Blake Trinan from past years
that we've talked about with the wicked slider
and just unhittable what he wants to be
that they go he doesn't record an out in this game
and then they goes to Vessia
that I don't know
I guess I want to go to the bunch, Rev, because I, you know, beforehand we were talking about the show, the testosterone was flying.
And you're saying it's, it's not a pure wheel play because Mookie should have been there earlier.
I guess break down the bump play for us.
Well, I want to, do we have the, I mean, he went pretty early.
I thought in my mind, when I saw it live, I thought he kind of waited there.
Obviously, he was going to third base.
but typically you start going
even sooner than that on a wheelplay
because you want to make sure that you're there.
I guess Castellanos is running
and that's the other point is
because they don't put Bader on the IEL
base hit their in a pinch hit a bat
but they have to run for him
so they can't run for Castellanos
any other time of the year
with a regular roster
as soon as Castellanos
we didn't even talk about his double.
You said it was a deep drive to left field
it was a John Boy Blitzball swing, dude.
A Joe's McFly Blitzball swing.
I couldn't believe my eyes when they did the replay.
I thought it was bad at live, but they did the replay,
and it was a three-quarter swing.
It was insane.
Anyways, you pinch run for him the second he gets on second base,
but they can't do it because, well, they need someone to run for Bader.
Weston Wilson is going to run for Bader.
So I think that
If you're a Phillies fan
You're like
I don't know how we
Fucking found ourselves in this situation
Like our guy, it's great,
Bader he did his job
But also he
He playing words here
He hamstrung us a little bit
There having Castellanos
You like that?
Are we back now?
Treve, we've never left, bro
We were a little gone before the show
I was mad at you
The only thing I can say is
I know you're supposed to draw the third base been in on the bunt
to get the guy the third base.
Could we have a clip of that again?
Where's Freeman at during this?
I want to see that.
Yeah, Freddy's in too.
He came in in-in-in?
So this is, I want to preface something for you.
Oh, yeah, they're in.
I love this.
I love, like, this is how you're supposed to play buntz.
Like, be aggressive.
Don't be afraid of getting hit with the ball.
Like, everyone's, oh, you can't go that close in.
you might hit it by you so what yeah if you think if you think they're going to bun and you're
saying and that's what dave robert said we knew they were going to bun get your ass in there
because when you're bunting and you've got guys barreling down on you and you have nowhere to go
lines are covered the pitcher's there in front of you it's almost like that's where you want to go
is to the pitcher it's it makes it like impossible because that was a good bun pipe by right
this thought problem is they're just right on you and and a lot of times it won't matter if you
actually have a runner, but Nick Cassianus is probably the worst guy for the Phillies to have
running in that situation.
Travis, I thought the baiter being hurt and not having the extra base runner was going to be
my moment of brilliance, but it's your moment of brilliance because it really, it changed this
entire game.
Because I watched that replay because the other thing you see is the Dodger players start
getting panicky about second base, because they're wondering if Stats,
going to go to second. So they fully abandoned second.
Like Freddie Freeman ends up sprinting to second that when I initially watched the replay,
because hey, hey, credit to Max Muncie, who was kind of threatened by this Dodgers team,
like, you better be able to play third base, big man. Otherwise, we don't know if we're going
to have a spot for you. He makes a great play. Mookie Betts, playing shortstop, a reminder.
He gets the running advantage on Castiano's to get ahead that when I initially went to look
that replay with Rob, I was wondering,
wondering, like if Castellanos was going to be so beat on it,
that if he could turn around and go back to second,
again, this isn't Castellanos's stretch,
that I think if it's a faster runner,
they're not in the position he's in,
that it's probably more step by step with Mookie
that Mookie would have to make an amazing special tag
or not have a play.
Or if it's a speedster that somehow Mooky beat them by that much,
maybe they know second's going to be
open that you can bait that throw and go back that we, if that had happened, we'd say this is an
all-time, heady speed baseball play.
End of the day, it's an incredible execute, well, I guess I want you to call it out if it's not.
From my viewpoint, it's incredible execution by the Dodgers, which a lot of these teams,
how often, Trev, do we hammer the table?
It's July in the season.
We're doing a Friday episode aged up, and we're like, none of these teams play defense
anymore. Here are the Dodgers
and the biggest moment of the biggest game
making the play that you
practice in February.
And it's incredible.
I mean, this is, you know,
we talked about it last year in the World Series,
them trying to play fundamentally sound baseball and doing so.
And this is, I think, a little bit
above and beyond fundamentally sound.
I mean, this was an aggressive
defensive play.
And Freddie,
covering second base, is great there.
The other person that might have gotten there,
was a center fielder.
I know he's probably playing no doubles.
I have to look.
He wasn't playing too far back,
but he could also come in
and try to get there as well.
But no, it was perfectly, perfectly executed.
And we don't practice bunt plays.
And you don't, they didn't practice this type of play.
But, and maybe it's changed now.
Like, guys don't grow up doing the wheel play.
But, like, all these guys that are on the field,
especially these veterans,
they grew up, you know, with three or four bump plays.
And then even the minor leagues, and it's changed now.
When you get to the big leagues, at least in my experience, this is what I experienced.
Spring training, you practice first and third plays and you practice bump plays,
and then all that went to shit and you just threw to second base or you held the ball on first and third,
and then you got the first out, the out at first with a bump play.
That's all you did during the regular season, just to minimize mistakes.
This was aggressive, it was beautiful.
And maybe the only thing I can say that the Phillies didn't do right.
was maybe when they saw those guys crashing in, pull it back and say,
I'm not bunning into this.
Let's let me hit now.
Because that would be the solution to that.
Because you're not really going to get a button down anywhere there if those guys are up.
So one team executing, the other team kind of put themselves in a behind and not executing.
And it's Rob Thompson quote after the game.
I was playing for the tie, which, you know, when things,
things don't go well.
That doesn't feel as great.
And yeah,
Trev,
I'll give you some analytics that don't matter.
Bryson Stott's birthday.
So if you're a Phillies fan
trying to believe in something,
you see that defense coming in,
let them swing,
let them try to tap into something.
We get to double,
we get to question it
because it didn't work out.
I think the true answer is,
it kind of shouldn't be Castiano's on second.
What are they going to do, though?
I don't know,
especially because,
Bader got the hit now.
Right?
Like, Philly fans are like, what?
I don't know.
I don't know.
Well, that's where I think a couple of plays.
The bunt obviously stands out.
The, who was it?
Brandon, did Marsh get picked off when Schwerber was up?
That, you know, at the time we were, at the time we did the dumbfounded like,
hey, Kyle Schwerber's up.
I don't care that's two strikes, two outs.
Like his one swing in the back could change the game.
You know, that's an outs.
that, hey, the final batter in this game was Trey Turner,
in front of Schwerber, in front of Harper,
that if you could have extended this, one more, like,
I don't know what we could be talking about.
Instead, we're talking about the Dodgers.
Dave Roberts, man, I know he's got, he got some bling now,
but that was a, I was shocked.
I couldn't believe he did that with the bullpen.
his explanation was that he didn't want
Roki going two out of three
which I now I'm taking two out of three days
because they have the off day
right but what do you have in the bullpen for
like if he's not going to bullpen for you
like the rest of those guys
they give him a day off and they're supercharged up again
like he's got if he's in that role he's in that role
and you could say also hey I want to I want to see
if we can give trine in the ball in the
postseason and maybe it just flips.
Right.
And you had a three run lead and you had a row right handers.
So I like, I can see a little bit of like the gears moving.
But I think the player means like we, we're going to, we can win this game.
Yeah.
We got a three round lead.
Let's put our best guy in there and go to two and no on these dudes and not even
chance it.
We've seen the bullpen flounder definitely in the second half of this year.
don't leave anything up for chance man
and I
and here's the other thing
he's
he's never come in with like
to put a fire out he's had a clean inning in
so like not only could you have given him the clean inning
with a three run lead which is a much less
pressure pack situation than what you put him in
you put him in there facing the batting champ
and like go go get it big guy you got a one run lead now
so like
yeah I was it was a headscrow
I was on my way back for my practice.
I had my phone going in my car.
And I'm like, there's, it's something,
did I miss something on the broadcast?
Did Roki get up and then like say he can't go tonight
or what the heck was going on?
It turns out, no, it's just Dave.
Yeah.
And that last throw, Tommy Edmund chokes it a little bit.
Freddy Freeman with a nice pick that,
I don't know, man.
It's a sick little sport we like that.
And Muncie puts that throw a little bit further up the line
And it rolls in the outfield
We're talking about how genius the Phillies are for bunting
And said,
Uh,
it feels like a foolish play.
And,
uh,
Philly loses both in Philadelphia.
Uh,
they drop six out of seven at home,
um,
in their recent playoff games.
And that,
like,
that was the,
that was the scary place for a little bit.
Red October and how crazy it was there.
And now,
It's completely, completely gone.
I got two more things on this game.
I think I'm good to move if you are.
Number one, since I am in my coach's outfit, shout out SoCal Padres.
I don't get many looks running around L.A. and this, do I?
Yeah.
That's, I mean, Trev, that's full, you're full Padre.
Dude, we go to these tournaments and people just talk shit to us.
I'm like, dude, it's a nine-year-old team, bro.
Kids team.
first thing I tell these guys
like literally the first
oh it's two things I say start down stay down
and then always expect a bad throw
I think that's like some of the best advice
that I ever received as a player
always expect a bad throw and Freddie right there
ground ball to second base
and routine as it gets he could have just
a lot of guys would do this too even the big leagues
would just stand there ready for a good one
and all of a sudden that ball's down in the dirt
and it gets by him
Freddy is ready for a bad throw
and he scoops that thing.
And my goodness, can you imagine if he didn't?
Tommy Edmund was nervous there.
Saw Trey Turner barreling down the line,
and that thing felt like a golf ball in his hand.
You could see the slow-mo, his hands are like this at the end.
I've been there, bro.
I've been there.
A little laundry.
Freddy, oh.
Did I have another thing?
I'm not sure.
I said I had two things.
and I forgot.
I did.
I said everything.
Okay.
I do want to get out our Best Western Road Warrior.
You know, we've done it all season long.
Best Western has been with us since the start of the season.
Life's a trip.
Make sure you guys check out BestWestern.com wherever you are going coming up.
There is a Best Western there.
Blake Snell, it's where we started, and I think it's where I want to finish.
Six innings, one hit, zero earn runs, 9Ks.
Third Dodgers pitcher to have 18 strikeouts and allow two earn runs or fewer in their first two
playoffs, Sandy Kofax, Clayton Kershaw, Blake Snell.
The other one that's just insane to me, Snell now has four career postseason outings with nine plus strikeouts
and no more than two hits allowed.
That's the most by any pitcher in postseason history.
And again, twice was a free agent.
twice your team could have went for him
twice they didn't
I guess I know he went to the Giants
that was one did the Padres also re-sign him
on a one year or did you he went to the
I think he just went to the Padres
and then became a free agent
he got traded to the Padres signed by the Giants
for the opt-out deal that's my bad
so I got 32 that year and then the Dodgers
The whole NL West reeling
reeling right now
yeah
I guess
Trev, not necessarily a full preview of what's coming up,
but game three, it's Nola with Suarez, maybe following.
Suarez, I think he got hit by a line drive.
The shelf he's pretty convinced he's banged up and not sure where he's at.
Oh, and the Dodgers have Yoshinobu Yamamoto going.
With Glassnow and Otani backing him up in the next, after that.
I mean, that's, oh, I think I remember what else I was going to say about this.
It's, it's, I'm getting sad now because I, I love this Philly's team, maybe more than anybody.
Oh.
Like, I got, I got a little taste of this Phillies team in my last hurrah.
Like, I was with these guys.
And I know, like, I like, I like, Trey Turner, one of my favorite players.
Shout out, Investor, great.
Like, I love Bryce Harper.
You know I love J.T. Realmuto.
I think he's one of the hottest guys in the sport.
Yeah.
Max Kepler's there.
This is an awesome team, dude.
Talk about the pitching.
I love this team.
And you mentioned, like, they're not winning at home in the postseason,
and it seems like this, the chance for all these guys to be together and win is shrinking.
And maybe at the end of the day, we'll just say, well, the Dodgers just came and took
this whole dang thing over and that you just got to tip your cap but i thought with 100% certainty
that we would see a world series title out of this squad and now i feel like it's in peril and
hopefully they prove me wrong when you're swarber is an oh for 21 going back to the regular season
he's a free agent right so like that's it's uh yeah yeah i we shouldn't get there yet
but oh the other my other play that people forget about that
this game just because it seemed at the point, seemed end the moment that it was just, okay.
Matt Strom comes into phase Shohei out of the bullpen and Shohei hits another RBI single and we're
just like, oh, okay, well yeah, that's Shoah, here come the Dodgers, they're up for nothing.
Think about where this game landed.
Like, that was the game winning run in this game and it's just kind of glossed over at this point
because of everything else that happened.
He, I mean, they held him down enough.
You know, I think he was just sick of it.
He said, I'm done with this.
I'm done striking out looking all the time.
I'm going to swing the bat this time.
I might as well just hit it.
We will see.
Oh, yeah.
Game three, potential deciding game will be Thursday.
Or no, today just turned Tuesday.
My bad.
Wednesday.
It, it, it, maybe a.
game I look to go to. I don't know.
Whoa. I don't know.
Teddy. That's Bryce Harper.
Bryce, my guy.
Bryce. Maybe I'll see Scotty B. there.
Maybe.
Let's do a little Cubs brewers, huh?
Which Shoda would show up for Chicago with Imanaga,
hoping to sober up the beer makers.
Mysterious bullpen day for a manager that likes to keep
warm food in his pockets.
Top one, big boy three-run homer by say.
Oh, oh, Cubs jump out to a three-run lead.
Bottom one tie game.
That Andrew Vaughn is one fine piece of ace.
Somehow finds a way to break both Chicago baseball team's hearts.
Bottom three, Will I Am?
As Contreras goes solo dong,
and that hamstring looks pretty good to me.
Churio for three, bang,
7-3 lead for the brew crew,
and it's hard to come back
when Milwaukee's Penn
combines for 7.2 innings of one hit ball.
Mears to Misarowski, to Patrick to Canig,
to McGill to Yerebe.
Brewers win 7-3 final.
The standings in this one, Brewers,
2-0, Cubs.
Oh, and 2.
Didn't see this one coming, Pop.
I think I said that for the Dodgers, Phillies.
I thought this was going to be a very, very competitive series.
And it just hasn't been.
That was my other piece offering for you and me, Trev.
I took the standings out at the end of my burn.
I traditionally have them in there, but...
We're good.
I love you.
I love you so much.
We've been through a lot.
We have.
Seen it all.
People forget the RV.
We never shower together, like in a clubhouse or anything.
We can change that.
You can bet on that.
I hope we ever will, though, Pop.
Oh, we can shower.

Where do you start, coach?
if the Cubs fans and the Cubs in general
could just like pause this show in the top of the first,
it'd be happy.
Everyone would be so stoked.
Yeah.
We got a lead again.
All right, things are going to be good today.
And then the brewers are just so mean.
Just snatching it back and not even wasting any time.
That's the most disrespectful part of all of this.
You didn't even let the Cubs fans enjoy a three-front lead
because Andrew freaking voice.
on. And I, you know, we talked about him a ton during the regular season as he came over there
and really changed everything. Went down and like fixed some things in a swing and,
but during the postseason to do it too, what a find for the brewers, man.
Crazy.
Like, unbelievable. What a beautiful swing. I think that was a three two pitch, but I'm not mistaken.
Shota tries to spin one up there. And he just goes, majestic. That thing must have been a
40-degree lawn shangle up in the, up in the,
the air forever and fold the cameraman a little bit right there because it got out even further than
he thought and all of a sudden it's a brand new ballgame and if you're a Cove's fan, you're like,
oh my God. Like what, what happened? Yeah. Yeah, man, it's, uh, it's insane. And I,
Treve, you're, you bring up, uh, David Popkins a lot on this show who is the man credited for a lot of
the Blue Jays turning around their hitting season,
and we've talked about how good the Brewers' org is.
And, you know, we've got a lot of baseball people around this company.
If you said, who are the best organizations in baseball,
our top 10 list that, you know,
everyone would probably have the same seven, eight teams on there.
And the Brewers, I mean, look what they've done with their pitching.
How many names does the average fan know in the Brewer's bullpen?
Well, they've been nasty for a decade now.
Yeah.
And it's been different names.
They tap into a...
They've started tapping into a different starting pitcher every year.
Hey, Chad Patrick.
He got an inning today.
And now, Trev, if they've figured out this final missing thing,
tapping into Andrew Vaughn and getting the production they've got out of him.
And yeah, Trev, there's a weird baseball side to you and me that I think we're like,
hey, we need...
Where's the juicy series right now?
Where's the, like, especially the NL.
The NL have...
Yeah, I think we have one in the...
Yeah, yeah.
We have one-one series that I do want to,
I have to Chris Rose you at the end of this and say,
which O2 team has the best chance of making it happen?
But, like, I don't know, you're right.
When the Cubs came out and hit that home run,
Sayah, 3-0, it was kind of like,
all right, let's fire it up in the mid-vest.
Sorry, my Nordic accent leaked out there.
And now here we are.
the Brewers, in a way, it almost stings worse.
Like we went up 3-0 and then they just put up 7 and shut us out?
I mean, I think they didn't, I mean, they didn't score any runs after that.
After the first inning, they get shut out.
I mean, that's not a great formula there.
So I think a lot of the credit clearly has to go to the Brewer's bullpen
and Murphy finding the right lanes and them just having dogs and Jacob Miserables.
acting like a little kid out there in the best way possible.
I'm not talking down about him.
I'm just saying like he's acting like a little kid out there.
Like his celebrations are hilarious, dude.
Like this is hilarious right here.
That's literally...
Like that is what my team does on the field
when something could happen.
I'm like, guys, relax a little bit.
Especially the pitcher keeping it running the whole way by himself.
That is pretty little league.
It's pretty little league.
But it works because you eliminate a throw right there.
But, I mean, I saw something
his first 10 pitches were over 100 miles an hour.
It was all heaters.
So, like, yeah, he acts like a little leaguer,
but he blows cheese.
And you know what?
They had a quote from Murphy saying,
like, he hasn't even learned to pitch yet.
And that's the scary part.
No.
Yeah, man.
And it, I still don't know how to fully process this.
But, yeah, Mizorowski comes in.
we've got 103s.
I think we had a 104 on the scoreboard.
Palencia's pitching for the Cubs on the other side.
Here's your 101.
And it's, you know, the state of baseball that we've talked about a lot.
It just, it feels wild.
And yeah, he had that big adrenaline dump,
which my guy, Jom always tracks that with relievers.
Mizoroski, obviously not your average reliever.
And almost maybe him dumping some adrenaline was a good thing.
So he could sit at 100 and throw strikes.
but yeah, it's, he looked great, which that changes the Brewer's formula, right?
Like we came in not knowing if Mizorowski was going to be a go-to guy for them or kind of out of the mix for his second half results.
And now he looks like one of the worst guys you'd want to see coming out of the bullpen.
I hope he is a starter because I think we've seen this a couple times now.
Like Aaron Ashby was supposed to be the Brewer's next big thing, right?
Starter wise.
And now we find him in the bullpen.
I want Mitz to be a starter.
Like, I want him to figure it out.
You're talking about Palencia Thona Hunt up there.
Jackson Trio doesn't care.
Does not care.
Doesn't care.
And I thought he was going to be sitting out this game.
I think we, I know I talked about with Chris,
but we talked about too, like,
inconclusive MRI.
I said you didn't see him grab anything when he came out.
So that's a, to me, that's a good sign.
Because if you really pull something,
you're grabbing it immediately.
And here he is.
like not only did he hit this one there was a fly ball down the line when miserowski was
pitching that he kind of had to like he was running all the way down the line had to pump the
brakes up next to the wall and i was like dude if that guy can do that right on those legs he's
fine he's fine so that is a you know a bullet dodged by the brewers is clearly he means a ton
to their lineup and they look um they look really really good jake they're a team you know
offensively we know can score runs uh with their legs on the
the base pass, you know, during the season, didn't hit a bunch of home runs.
If this is a team now that can do, they can small ball, you take the extra base and also
now they're finding their slug.
I mean, look out, dude.
After a trio hits the homer, what does the next batter do?
Tries the bun.
He popped it up.
That's a terrible bunt.
But still, like, that's their mentality.
I love that shit, dude.
That is a stuff that keeps you on your toes on defense, and you're just like, oh, what the
heck is going to happen?
So they're playing a fun brand of baseball, and the Cubs, unfortunately, I mean, they're not.
Yes, which put them in the bucket with the Yankees and the Phillies that have had, like,
a lot of those teams have one inning of excitement so far in these two nothing or down two oh in the series.
Jackson Churio, I'll play the coastal elitist card here that if this guy plays,
on either coast, people would go nuts about them.
Eighth player in MLB history to have at least three career postseason homers through his age 21 season.
Soto, Miggie Cabs, Bryce Harper, Andrew Jones, Mickey Manel, Rafael Devers, and Cody Bellinger.
But again, just, I will, I'll stand for the people in Milwaukee there.
If this guy played in the east or the west,
I think there'd be more fuss about him
as he brings it in another postseason game.
And yeah, the other thing that was just making me laugh
when I was watching this game,
I was, A, I was surprised they didn't go with Quinn Priester.
I don't know if there's something there.
They have them lined up for game three now.
But I had the openers reversed in this game.
Like I thought the Brewers were just going to,
Quinn Priester had a pretty nice year.
I thought they would let him,
start. And then Shoda, last game, they used the opener, which I like that you called Craig
counsel out on having the utmost confidence in them, except not the first three hitters of the game.
And then he goes out and man, when you give up that Andrew Vaughn Homer that just the left
fielder is tracking and that ball's in the air and it's in the seats. It's not how the game really
works because it's not over, but God, it certainly fell over.
39 degree launch angle for that Vaughn one, so not 40.
Thank you.
I guess when I talked about pausing the game after the top of the first,
you could actually go into the bottom of the first with two outs.
You get two strikeouts to start the game for Shoda,
and then two out knock, two out knock.
I mean, that is just...
I will say this about the Cubs team.
We're seeing a stripped-down version of what we saw early in the season.
So when PCA was going off,
they look like a different team.
When Cade Horton was going off,
they looked like a different team.
PCA has not been able to find it.
I know we've seen a little bit of a mechanical adjustment out of them
in these playoffs.
He's spread out, trying to make contact, still ain't working.
Like, he's going to have to go into this season
and change some things.
Like, he's going to come home.
He's going to say, wow, like, hey, pretty damn good season.
Right.
But the way, overall, yes.
He's going to come home disappointed.
He's going to come home disappointed unless they come back from this deficit
and go in the playoffs and whatever, whatever.
But in general, when you end the way that he ended, that's all you can think about.
So he's going to come back, he's going to make adjustments.
He's going to have to figure that out.
And he's realized now that, hey, man, this is a very tough league.
They have a ton of info on me, and it is my turn to – like, I'm up.
Balls in my court.
I got to make the move.
But, you know, him struggling and no Kate Horton in this team of,
looks completely different.
Yeah.
And Cubs are two and 17 with runners in scoring position this postseason.
That's not good.
And what was I going to add at the top of that?
Oh, Craig Counsel came out and said,
we're not going to win if we give up two, three run homers.
That's probably a fact.
And when we talk about teams playoff history and we're,
you know, we're doing the whole Brewers dance before this.
Like, is it going to work?
is this the year?
When the two three-run homers
are the first three-run playoff homers in Brewer's history.
Milwaukee fans had never seen their team
hit a three-run or four-run homer in the postseason.
That's insane.
Ryan Braun, where are you at?
Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder?
What's the other guy's name,
the tall right-handed guy?
Corey Hart.
Richie Saxon.
Paul Molliter.
I'm always a slap hit.
Aramis Ramirez.
I don't know.
Paul Moller's down in Mexico City
with his daughter and his wife right now, okay?
I hear great things about Mexico City.
I want to go.
I heard it's super cultured great art scene.
Can I just say something out of pocket right now?
Absolutely.
Finally.
We talk about Aaron Judge.
Okay.
and he's getting to Clayton Kirshaw status
where we talk about the postseason now.
Yeah.
I was just looking at Kyle Tucker's numbers.
Oh.
It ain't good, Pop, in the postseason.
And, I mean, I got him up right now.
Total career postseason, 226 hitter,
235 A-Bs.
He's got eight homers.
Like, that's decent.
668 OPS.
He has not been the,
hero of the Cubs that they thought they were going to get.
I don't think he ever was going to
say, hey, I had a great time in Chicago.
I'm going to come back and play.
Like, he's going to take the bag.
But we talk about
other guys in that vein.
I think it's only fair to mention that
because this is, he's supposed
this guy is supposed to be
carrying this offense.
Right. He's the hired gun.
He's the kind of the difference
maker, Dan's V. 17. Yeah.
17 A-Bs, no homers, no runs driven in, no stolen bases, 439 OPS.
Trev, again, we talked about this for different,
coming into today, Kike Hernandez, 271 played appearances,
an 880 OPS.
Kyle Tucker that you just brought up,
who's, you know, Kyle Tucker is about to get $400 million, we think.
262 played appearances, a 673 OPS.
I don't know what you do with that, man.
And it feels a little messed up doing this right now
because he's clearly banged up and just came off the IL.
But a lot of those years, he wasn't.
And if you're out there playing, that's pretty wild, man.
People were in my mention saying,
Kiki has ADHD and he locks in for the playoffs.
I'm like, you can't say that.
And then he actually said it.
So then I was like, oh, okay.
I think, okay.
I'll buy it.
I have no argument against it.
I'll put that as a note in our Colorado Rocky scouting binder.
The clubhouse is going to be out of control.
But, hey, if you get guys playing like Kike this time of year.
You and Kiki can't be around each other.
Can't.
Can't.
Not a lot of shirts being worn.
Too much tongue.
A lot of necklaces.
Hit me with your Chris Rose question.
Trev, my Chris Rose question.
is brought to you by Seat Geek, people.
It's the off.
And your team might not be in it.
Your team might have one more game left.
Or hopefully your team's about to go on a run.
Either way, you can go see them with Seat Geek
or, I don't know, concert seasons going on, football.
They're playing preseason puck and hoops.

playoffs, 10% off your next set of tickets at C-Geek.
That's 10% off at any tickets with promo code J-M playoffs.
Okay, Trev.
Now first, how good does my wife Michelle look?
Oh, my God.
Pretty good, Chris.
Pretty good, Chris.
Pretty good, Chris.
Which of the O-N-2 teams,
I won't even say has a chance to win it
because our social team could run hot with that.
I guess which of our O and two teams have the best chance to take it to game five?
Who's starting for the Yankees?
Yankees are Rodon and then Schlittler, your guy.
Oh, that's right.
So it was heel and then it was free.
It's no Rodon is going.
So I want to say it's the Yankees.
And I want to say the other two teams it's not going to happen.
But I, okay, I'm using weird words here.
But I want all of them.
to go longer.
I like, you know, good series.
In my mind, the Dodgers close it out on Wednesday.
I think the Cubs close it out on whenever they play.
Is it tomorrow?
No, another off day.
Wednesday as well.
They're also on Wednesday.
Yankees.
I'll go one.
And I don't even really believe that either.
I'm smiling.
I'm just trying to be a nice guy to you because we fought before show.
Trying to be nice.
It feels like the answer, which is,
crazy because if you said, okay, if you just laid out the teams and you said
Phillies, Yankees, Cubs, I think I'd pick the Phillies, but with what the Dodgers just
look like right now and two in Dodger Stadium, it feels like it's not coming back.
The Yankees have their argument.
I guess for the Cubbies, it's similar to the Yankees where it's kind of like what's
gone right for us.
And I guess if they didn't pitch Quinn Priester today, maybe that's the guy we can
get to from Milwaukee to change the narrative, but they've been pumped.
They've been pumped.
But maybe home field matters.
I want to believe that in this sport, that maybe home field matters, which again,
doesn't help my fills.
I just, the Cubs don't seem like they have any fight to me.
Who?
Do they to you?
Uh, they seem worn out.
Like Kyle Tucker is banged up.
and worn out and, you know, his next baseball, the next baseball game he loses, ends up with him
figuring out who wants to pay him $400 million.
Their pitch, losing Kate Horton was huge, man.
That's a huge.
Think about the young guy pitching performances we've seen so far this point.
Look what Mizorowski did today.
Look at Schlittler.
Who's my, you savage that just destroyed my yanks.
You're trying to raise that one from your mind.
It's kind of, yeah.
Wait, what's that guy in Toronto's name?
is it Burrios?
Yeah, man.
That, you know, what if Kate Orton came out in this game, too,
and just dropped it on these brewers,
and that three-run lead held up until the sixth inning?
Like, what would we be talking about?
So, yeah, you're right.
It's a little harsh, but the Cubs,
the Yankees have their douchey where the Yankees were back into Bronx,
like watch this, that sometimes that works,
sometimes it doesn't.
The Cubs energy feels worn out,
And maybe the good people at Riggily and a couple homers will spark that for them.
I mean, Justin Turner was batting lead off today.
That's a lot of mojo and it didn't work.
It's a lot of mojo.
And I think it was the Andrew Vaughan Homer Rob played.
There was the cut shot of him rounding first.
And you saw the side view of Turner, which is just, that's baseball.
The other sports don't get that.
A lot of red.
The pouch is becoming pouchy.
But hey, I'm, I'm team pouch as well.
And I don't know.
Just putting Justin Turner out there going for the spark.
I get it.
He's Justin Turner.
He's played in a lot of big games.
Everything we've talked about.
I think it's this shot, which I don't feel good about right now.
Oh, that's a little, that's a little demoralized.
That's not the energy you want.
That's not the energy.
That's mean is what that is.
That's not the energy you want.
That guy's a freaking L.A. legend.
I'm not going to speak down.
He's a legend.
I don't need the L.A.
He's an L.A.
He's an L.A.
It is Padres coaching gear.
You got anything else for the people, coach?
We'll be back at it tomorrow night, baby.
Back at it.
The American League goes at it,
where the Yankees could be playing
their last baseball game of the season,
and we'll see who gets the leg up
between Detroit and Seattle.
Thank you guys so much.
We love you.
Jackson.
A couple super,
Chat's on the way out. Jonathan Montgomery, Palmer Sheldon, external void.
Hell yeah.
I felt that. DeMise. Thanks. I was walking to the book ferret out of the school today.
I hear, hey, ploof. Joe Ryan in a black car coming into my neighborhood.
Wow. Oh. Coffee tomorrow?
