Hello and welcome to Talking Baseball.
Trade deadline reaction episode.
We got a lot of trades that have already happened.
Then we're live for the last hour 15 to see if some new trades come in.
Someone give me a bet.
Just throw something right here.
Hello and welcome to talking to baseball.
It's August 1st.
We are an hour and 17 minutes away from the trade deadline.
And we've already got a ton of trades that have happened.
My name's Jimmy. His name's Trevor.
Jake is here.
BBD is behind the dish.
It's brought to you by Seat Geek.
And what?
Did you do a hum?
I just heard something.
Yeah, stop talking, Jake.
I try to give you a signal that we're doing a full Seat Geek read if you want.
BPD signaled at you that it's a seat geek.
Oh.
Let's do it later.
Treb, how are you?
I thought you said, hmm.
Hmm.
I thought I heard of him.
I didn't say, hmm.
But I am here in studio.
Yeah.
I'm having a great time.
I'm wearing a
Serreiro's hat.
We got this famously as
James fell and heard himself
in the sausage race.
Yeah, you did.
You made that noise that everyone likes to hear.
I had
a great time this weekend.
Awesome.
I was in Montauk.
Oh, my gosh.
I'm told Jake Burger to the Marlins.
Oh.
We eat in.
Game.
That was.
the one I was worried about.
Yeah, we found it out.
We did it.
Well, there's so many trades.
There's a lot of trades.
This episode, it's not going to be incredibly structured.
It's more like we're just a hangout session, talking to the live chat, reacting to trades
that have happened.
And then if any come in, they will come in.
So that's going to be what today is.
Also, I did order food from this place Jake Likes.
And they upsell you stuff as you go.
And I had no idea what it was.
I just read the words.
And I was like, I had never heard of that.
I don't know if this is a dessert, an appetizer.
It's really heavy.
It's in tinfoil.
At some point, I think maybe we open it and eat it.
Reveal.
It is heavy.
It is heavy.
It's heavier.
Yeah, this is like.
Do you know what the word for it is?
Are we not trying to spoil it?
Well, if I did remember it, it would be spoiled.
This is like, for sure.
There's got to be some meat in this.
Maybe, yeah.
I don't know.
It's not a bread option.
So we'll get, I have.
Oh, that was heavy.
And it didn't just get smashed.
No, it's very structured.
The table got hurt.
Yeah, so we'll eat that at some point.
Is that just a five pound weight?
We'll eat that at some point, Jake.
Jake, your favorite trade of the deadline thus far.
Don't tell us that, but give us like maybe your seventh favorite.
Jimmy, Trevor Davis, everyone joined us.
We're live.
Did you say, hmm?
We're live.
That's first words of the show.
You know, we're not always live.
So it's good to be back with the people.
And my thing on this trade deadline is you could see everything,
Probably from nothing to guys leaving to some guys coming.
Not really sure what to expect.
Well, to be fair, that's specific to one team he's talking about.
Oh, that was a quote from Aaron Boone.
Today.
My seventh favorite trade of this deadline is Michael Lorenzo to the Phillies.
I mean, Jake Burger goes for Jake Eater and you don't even care about Jake trade?
I'm jaked out.
I already jaked on.
Welcome to most people that listen to the show.
Michael Lorenzen.
Slots in where?
Jake?
He's going to Philly, Trough.
And he can slot in as their five.
Okay.
If he performs,
which he has been recently,
who knows what he could be.
No,
this is good.
This is good pitching debt for them.
He's a guy that's come out of the bullpen
in past lives, too,
if they need that.
He's also yoked out of his mind.
Yes.
Yes.
Oh, and he's a Cali boy.
Yeah, I like seeing him because he's a...
He wore the fans on the field.
Yeah.
So sack.
I do like that.
I haven't really given it a ton of thought.
I think when I was younger,
I would have thought that was like super, super cool.
But as I've gotten older,
I'm not really sure how I feel about it.
But we like this.
I don't know how we're structuring the show, James.
I'm trying to talk,
but there's been so many trades.
Yeah, well, Jake just gave us his seventh favorite,
Lorenzen.
People lie all the time.
General managers lie all the time.
They say things in the media that aren't true.
This person's a very.
No, he's not.
Well, yes, he is with the right price.
I think my seventh favorite, I'm just going to go ahead and say it.
It's Mark Kana to the Brewers.
Really?
Yeah.
I think he fits in there.
I think you can slot over our good boy, Sal.
Maybe he goes to center field.
Yeli stays in left.
Mark Kana goes to right.
Maybe there's a platoon there with Weamer and Sal and center field.
With who?
Weamer.
How do you say it?
Gilly Weimer.
Yeah, there could be a platoon in center field
with those two guys, depending on, you know,
what happens, who performs.
Canada can do some first base days
and Santana D.Hs.
He has been listed as a corner infielder,
but I don't know, man.
I think those days are probably behind him.
But I like the move.
We're always asking the brewers to get a bat.
And he's a pretty steady bat.
He's a slightly above average,
probably like a 107 to 110 OPS-plus type of guy.
I like it.
He plays to the Midwest crowd, too.
Very basic looking.
Like kind of like a generic Middle America guy.
I mean, chafing.
I don't know if you love that.
Chafing.
Yeah, he wouldn't like that.
Chafing.
His personality doesn't match his look.
Yes.
Sure.
Chafin, though, to Wisconsin.
Yeah.
That guy was born in Wisconsin.
Like, there's going to be 20 fans at every Brewer's game being like,
am I on the mound right now?
Yeah, brewers are kind of fun.
I mean, we always want them to add the big piece,
but Carlos Santana, Marcana,
and a relief pitcher Andrew Chaffan,
that's like checking every box along the way.
Do you think their decisions changed when the Cubs didn't sell?
What do you think they were, like, going to go after some of the Cubs?
No, no, no, maybe they just weren't going to add as much.
I think the brewers were going to have the same deadline.
Yeah.
If they were leading division, wild car.
Yeah, they do what they can do.
I like that.
They operate within their rules.
On the Lorenzen trade, which is Jake's seventh favorite trade,
just to follow that up.
Jason Stark did say that he is going to go.
in the rotation.
They have no off days the next two weeks.
Well, six man coming.
So,
or they have no off days until August 14th.
So they're going to run a six man rotation until then.
And then you'll see what happens.
Lorenzen also two or fewer runs in 11 of 18 outings.
I need that 11 to be higher for that stat to be,
you know,
I think you get to like 14 at 18 or 13 at 18.
I like that more.
11 at 18 is close to 50% if you just kind of do like,
rounding math.
You round 11, closer to 10 than 20, for sure.
18.
I'm going to go with 11 out of 18s
much better than 50%.
The Jake trade so messed up.
It's 61%.
The Jake trade?
That's...
You know they laughed about it.
That's front office as being...
We want Jake Berger.
Okay. Well, we'll give you Jake...
Edder.
Basically the same name.
Eater and Burger?
Jake.
Eater!
If it's pronounced Eater, or you can pronounce it.
eater, then you got eater burger.
So who got, okay, wait, are you going to ask about my seventh favorite trade?
What's your seventh favorite trade?
Yeah, we are actually.
De Young.
That was out of necessity.
That was Dalton Feeley's, no, Bichette's okay, Dalton Feeleys notes on our trade episode,
what teams want?
He said, a bench bat.
And it's kind of funny because you never really hear that.
Just like, just a bench guy.
And Bichette got injured.
They didn't know the severity of it.
That's out now.
What's that what happened?
I believe the most recent report was that.
Came back negative.
They're not sure if they're going to put them on the IL.
There was only one like shortstop who can hit.
The Lillys run into homers.
And DeYoung was it.
I thought the Dodgers might go,
but they went and got Kiki in other places.
But Blue Jays make that trade.
And that's all they needed.
Oh, baby.
Two-parter.
One, Brandon Donovan out for the season.
Why?
Cardinals.
Having surgery tomorrow.
I don't know.
But the big one, Jeff Pass and Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers had a trade in place for Erod.
But Erod invoked his 10-team no trade clause that included the Dodgers and the deal is now dead.
Wow.
Why doesn't he want to go to the Dodgers?
I think he's probably saying, what can you give me?
It's the only, it's like leverage.
So maybe he's saying, I'll go if, but right now I'm good.
Because how much time do we have left?
And I mean, how many ifs can he throw out?
you can say
I want a transaction fee
added in a bonus if you will
you can say I'll only go if I
I don't know what his contract is
it's an opt out right it's not an opt out after this
so okay so then he could just make up anything
he can demand shit right now of course
which side is it like a
the Dodgers the Dodgers
Is it like when realtors meet in the middle for you on a house
The Dodgers would have to cover whatever he's asking for
Well, unless the Dodgers turn to Tigers
And say, hey, you really want this prospect?
Yeah.
Cover half of Erod's fucking charter.
That's the way it goes.
I mean, that's why guys put out opt-out closures.
I don't want a locker next to Moncy.
I do want a locker next to Walker.
He's probably thinking, what can I demand?
Oh, you just alert to be in the trade.
I'm thinking about it right now.
I think he loves Detroit.
I think he loves Detroit.
Could they get them like a house to live in for two months?
Like where do the lines get drawn?
You can do whatever you want.
This is professional stuff.
He says,
I want to live in the owner's house for two months and I'll go through with the trip.
And no Skittles in the fucking clubhouse.
That sounds like the Twins Clubhouse right now.
Sick of that.
Skittles?
So he has his deal.
Are they trying to live in the owner's house?
18, 16, and 15 guaranteed over the next three years.
He's out.
He has a chance to opt out.
Yes.
He could say,
I'll go if you full.
Guaranteed those years plus
tack on a
$7 million signing bonus.
Dude, he could just be out.
What if he's just not in L.A.?
Why would you be out?
Didn't Adam Jones do this?
You're an L.A. guy.
Why would he be out?
He might not be in L.A. guy.
I think Adam Jones did this
when Baltimore tried to trade him
and he had like 10 and 5 rights
and he said no. And then he tweeted
about he was like, I want to
uproot my family and shit.
And then he moved to Japan the next year.
And then he, now he lives in Spain.
So I saw him at the All-Stra.
game is telling me. He's like, I live in Spain. He's been doing
stuff with the Orioles. He's been into the splash
zone. I love him. He's a
great guy. He does have those priorities.
Let's ramp the app up a little bit. Jake, your third favorite trade so far.
Ooh, top three trade
for me.
I will go
Paul Sewell to my snakes.
What's up with that? What's up with the Mariners doing that?
You're surprised the Mariners are selling.
Well, one of their strengths would be a bullpen.
I mean, their pitching is their strength.
I witnessed it in firsthand.
He comes out to, like, a really cool, like, song out there.
Like, he's the guy.
And all of a sudden they're saying,
I think he signed as, like, a minor league free agent a couple years ago.
So are they saying, like, let's just sell high?
Like, this guy's worth a bunch and let's go do it?
I think they're smart enough to know that their season...
What do you...
Like you've been saying, like, the Mariners can click.
It can all come together.
They could go, but they are really behind the eight ball.
That if they could cash in on Paul Seewald for a year and a half,
get some real stuff they're looking for
while still having a strong bullpen.
Like, yes, you know,
you're going to need different guys to step up,
but they do that.
They're kind of cautiously selling.
And the snakes really needed a reliever.
And let's be honest,
with where the snake season has been heading,
if you get a pure rental,
that could hurt a little bit
where they get a guy that, you know,
they can come into camp next year
and be like, you know,
Paul Seawall could be their like bona fide closer.
How much time does he have left?
Like a bunch, right?
Let's see.
Seawald, Paul.
No, I think it's a year and a half
because I think he just pitched a lot for the Mets
and wasn't that.
So what's the,
the get back is Josh Rojas,
who's had a really, really tough year this year.
A 64 OPS course.
This year and next year.
Okay. You get that,
then you get some prospects back.
You're getting Josh Rojas, like I mentioned,
you're getting Dominic Kenzoni.
Kenzoni.
Did I say that right?
By the way, Nikki Cass is out forever with me.
infielder Ryan Bliss.
So he had the 19th prospect, the 29th prospect,
plus an infielder with a bunch of control, I'm assuming.
Free agent in 2027 has had better years behind him.
I mean, that's a Mariners trade everyone all the time.
So I guess I'm not, I shouldn't be too surprised.
But to me, it's like, they are so close.
It's depth.
They're so close.
Kanzone has been, he killed it at AAA this year.
It's the PCL, but he's,
He's 25, and he's made it to the big league.
So, like, I don't know, that's a guy that you could call up and down for your outfield,
worst case for the next two years.
And then, yeah, Rojas is just like a super versatile guy, which EBD was chuckling.
And I know the, um, uh, the Cespitous guys were saying they traded for your boy,
Jace Peterson right after that just to fill Rojas's role.
So they kind of scratch that itch that way.
So, um, I don't know.
It's one of those trades that, hey, if the snakes do find themselves in the playoffs,
Paul Seawald could be pitching in the ninth inning for them.
If not, they can say he's our guy going in next year.
You have a question.
Snakes fleeced Seattle?
Like, is that what I'm gathering?
Like, is there any other way to talk about this?
Sorry, Mariners fans.
I don't know if I'm out of the loop here, but you're getting the closer of the Mariners.
Right?
Yeah.
And then you got a utility infielder who's had a really bad year,
but then you replaced him quickly with another guy who's like,
Like, can, right.
Same.
Similar skill set.
And you got two prospects.
Sounds like a good deal for the snakes.
I don't know.
That does sound like a good deal when you put it like that.
So that's why it was the top three trade for me.
For the snakes.
Yeah.
Playing for rings.
I'll go my third favorite.
Okay.
I am going to go with the Lucas G.
Lito Ronaldo Lopez to the Angels.
Wow.
They made a lot of moves.
That was maybe going to be my third favorite.
I thought I was going to say that as his third favorite.
I took it.
AJ Pollock that fuck.
Oh, man.
Oh, sorry.
Actually, he said hi to me, so he's my friend again.
Hey, oh.
Boom, boom.
I like the angels going for it, dude.
I mean, how can you not?
So, you know, we talked about what else they've done, Eddie Escobar, Mike Wusakas.
But, you know, they needed another starter, and they needed some bullpen help.
And this was about best case scenario.
And I know that package was probably out there to a lot of people.
like a lot of teams were like, I like that.
I didn't want the package.
And the angel stepped up and paid the cost.
They gave them number four,
number seven in there.
Was it that?
Something like that.
I think it was three and four.
Oh,
yeah,
maybe it was.
But they don't have a great farm.
Exactly.
So they have to go a little higher up because that was pretty steep.
Yes.
So,
I don't know.
I think that the storyline to me of them going for it.
And then what are they sitting right now?
They're close.
Like they're three and a half back.
Wildcard, I believe.
They're three-backed of a wild card
on baseball reference as we speak
right now. And everybody
in baseball wants that. Dude,
everybody in baseball wants Mike Trout to come back healthy
and they want Shohei Otani
to just continue to do what he's doing
and see what happens.
That's all we want. So, like, them doing all these trades
and that's, you know, there's more. I think they made like six
moves or something like that or got six
new players on their roster.
I'm into it, dude. I like it.
I like it as well.
I think I liked this when I was more shocked when the Angels announced that second trade with Gritchick and,
um,
Crohn.
Who had been playing first?
Trey Cabbage would get into reps.
Trey Cabbage got the call up.
Yeah.
A little bit of moose.
Moose has been over there.
And then, um, more so the locker.
He's just a glue guy.
Ward gets, gets hurt.
So they replace him with Gritchick.
Yep.
That's like, that's the angels really doing it.
I'm very excited for them and about that.
and I hope that they go to the playoffs,
and that's where my brain is going.
Like, I want to see Angels in the playoffs.
So now I'm rooting for them.
So my third favorite trade, since you're still yours,
since you're still-
I'm saying the Angels real quick.
Yeah.
Moniac moves.
So Mike Trout comes back.
Say Moniac moves again.
Moniac moves.
He's got them.
I thought it was like, I like him a lot.
I thought that was a very, very cool guy.
You guys would like him.
Does he move to left or to right?
Does people call him Mickey Money?
Money, Mickey.
Probably.
I tried to,
I try to name my son.
Mac.
Mickey, but
Olivia wouldn't let me.
Also,
Kelly.
Okay.
Think of all the badass
Kellys that are out there.
Kelly Slater.
Kelly Johnson.
Kelly Johnson.
Bad news bears.
Kelly Leak.
Yeah.
Kelly Kapowski.
Kelly Leaked.
All over them kids in that movie.
He's spoken heaters and riding a motorcycle.
I watched that.
I don't know if that's cool or not.
I'm pretty sure that.
I watched that movie the other day.
That's out.
It was like very cheap.
My third favorite trade,
and this is going to surprise people.
Okay.
It's kind of a meme favorite.
is the Dodgers grabbing Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly.
I made a little reaction.
You guys probably already talked about it.
He's starting right now, isn't he?
But so much, who is, who is Lynn?
Is it a home game?
First start for the Dodgers.
Is it a home game?
I'll look it up for you right now, James.
Maybe it's tomorrow.
No, I thought it was today.
It is today.
We put out a graphics.
Baseball reference would you just update your score page?
The heck, Dodgers?
It is at home against the A's.
Oh.
So let's get started off from their right foot.
Because my, I've been having so much fun.
I don't think Lance Lynn might be part of the playoff picture for the Dodgers.
That's where the Joe Kelly side comes in.
But I've been having so much fun picturing Lance Lynn on the mound in L.A.
Okay.
In Dodgers uniform during a sunny, hot day game.
Oh, yeah.
No undershirt.
And like wincing because the sun's really bright.
Oh, yeah.
And kind of like sometimes at Dodgers Stadium, the sun is so bright on the mound.
It's reflecting.
like off the uniform, makes the uniform look like a mirror, like a reflection.
Like I just really enjoying that image of that and how much attitude the Dodgers just brought to their mound.
And, but yeah, Jake talked about seeing Joe Kelly, like he will be in the playoffs.
So I'm excited about that as well.
Sixth inning, big game.
Here comes Joe Kelly.
Just chomping gum.
Any, any.
I like him because he'll pitch in any inning.
Like, what do they call?
Not sure where his fastball's going.
Like, I think if there's guys who are actually effectively wild, I think Joe Kelly's one of.
of them.
We did the over under on walks for him and it was crazy high for a reliever.
Are you guys able to use a fire extinguisher?
Just if I put one in front of you?
I don't know if I've ever used one, but I've seen my buddy when in college we had a buddy who would routinely if you pass down on the couch spray.
Oh, it's tough.
It's tough.
It just washed off.
It never happened to me.
It never happened to me.
But our buddy was just like dust.
Twice, right?
I think he did it to Ken twice.
Okay.
Well, twice is pretty much.
But more than once.
That's probably the only two times that he has been somewhere where Ken was sleeping in a fire hindrance was next one.
Right.
So it's two for two on opportunities seized.
I just,
The instructions are on there.
It looks like the sand lot.
You know in the sandlot when the whole thing blows up because of the vacuum?
Yes.
And the kid walks out full of dust.
He's a ghost.
And then he just goes,
that was a basement.
You should not sleep any.
That was what our buddy looked like.
Well,
I just was saying that Joe Kelly is a fire extinguisher because he comes in, puts the flames out, any inning, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, maybe even the ninth.
So I dig it, man, and I don't know.
Where did you guys rank in your trade rankings?
Where did you guys rank the Jamer Candelario to the Cubs trade?
I have that a solid 10th.
10 on the nose.
Yeah.
I'm a little bit higher on that one.
The reversal of fortune for Cubs fans is something that I feel like.
makes it higher on my list because we were talking two weeks ago about belly's gone
and like this is exactly why they brought him in they bring him in on a one-year deal
they flip him they get some prospects their windows coming up next year shit Marcus
Stroman they can't get him extended we'll figure it out and all the sudden we're adding
yeah and and and you know in a market that doesn't have a ton of bats and he and here's one
the better bats and they got him and here's where everyone gets upset with me
and my blah blah blah old band takes the 500 cubs who have three teams ahead of them
buying at the deadline is a state of baseball that I do not enjoy why go back to less wildcard
teams and put all the best rentals on the top four teams and each league and let me like to be
like basketball and let me know it's not like it's what it used to be and let me see the best
teams utilize the rentals and the playoffs no the fact that the 500 team is buying to just
exist a little longer sucks.
That's not why they're buying, bro.
I feel like they're buying because they need to give their fans something.
Dude, this is the way I look at it.
I swear, it's time now for a lot of these owners too,
and because you can get in the playoffs with a 86 win, 87 win season.
Whatever it is.
The Cubs did a bunch of moves.
I would be for it.
I don't, I mean, what do they necessarily need?
I don't know.
The angels are in similar position,
but they went out and fucking...
I think their roster
desicitated that.
In M-I-M-O.
I'll say this.
You're both right.
No.
Go fuck yourselves.
I think when you look back at this deadline,
the Jammer Candelario trade
has the number one
we could look back at this and laugh.
Because if the Cubs have a bad week,
they drop back to three games under 500.
They're playing the Reds right now.
Like if the Reds give them the business this weekend,
you're going to be sitting there like shit.
But you're also right,
We're like, screw it, man.
Your team fought.
And like, it's Wrigley.
And they just built that beautiful draftings.
They built so much around the stadium for people to go spend their money.
Like, they want more people to be there, dude.
For the business of the Cubs, it's kind of the right move.
And if they do get one of those 2% magic seasons, which I know you don't like the
fan necessarily dreaming of that because it's not a good argument.
The business side of it is a fun argument and go, like, do I believe in the Reds?
Not really.
Do I believe in the Brewers?
A little more.
You said it.
I mean, Reds fans are mean, bro.
Well, whatever fan...
Could the Reds win the Central?
Yes.
Could the Reds miss the playoffs?
Absolutely.
Whatever team gets really good,
their fans are mean
because they tune into shows
because they're so excited
and I think everyone's going to talk nice about them.
And then you're like, well, you know, who knows?
And then they're like, well, look.
I think the angel situation is almost the same.
Talk about my team.
Wait, you don't believe in my team?
Fuck you!
It's the same with the Angels.
I think Artie Moreno is trying to
get some like
PR.
Hey, if you want O-Tani
to even talk to you
about coming back,
you needed to do
what the Angels did.
I don't think so.
Always quotes down the stretch.
Tani's like,
I want to go somewhere
where I can win.
I want to go to a team
that's going to win.
I've said many times
on this show what I think
it's going to take to get O'Tani.
And I think that's part of it.
He's going to want to go to a good organization
where he can play in the playoffs.
100%.
But there's multiple of those.
you can talk.
I mean, shoot, the Orioles are one of those now,
and they weren't that way last year,
the year before that at all.
So getting Otani is going to require a very unique contract.
I think there's going to be a lot of stuff
that he's going to ask for.
I don't think he's going back to the Angels to be.
I don't think he is either,
but I don't think they're out of it.
Even if they traded him,
I don't think they would be like, oh, he's not going back.
I think he's going to explore all options.
Which you should.
Yes.
I think we should explore all our options at Seat Geek.
Yeah, and maybe cut open this food.

Go see a game.
Trev, he went to go see a game.
Would you see?
I saw the Yankees beat up on the Mets.
Oh, they made the Mets sell.
Sad.
Very sad.
Click the link, use code talking.
I got a big old green bubble.
Yeah, you do.
You know what I'm saying?
Hey, there's a team you guys mentioned
that I want to hear you guys spill the tea about.
Are we going to open the food first?
Open the food while I'm asking this question.
We have less than an hour to the end of the trade.
deadline.
I'll say an hour because sometimes you'd leave that at last 10 minutes for a trickle.
Smells like that's always a trickle.
That's just how long it tastes together.
Well, they're processing the papers.
You just mentioned the Baltimore Orioles.
Yeah, I did.
They got to do something, right?
Who are the other teams right now that we're on watch for?
Like, you got to do something.
The Reds?
You got to do something.
It's the Reds and the Orioles.
The two teams that were like, what are you going to?
And the Dodgers, I think.
You got to do.
And we know they were in on E-Rodd, so yeah.
Dodgers are searching for a pitcher.
But what's weird is...
Flaherty is Celastigo.
He will get traded.
The Dodgers, when you really break down, like, they're pitching.
Like, I think bullpen, like, the bullpen's actually been a lot better over the last, you know, four weeks, five weeks.
But if you look at their pitching, like, if Kershaw comes back good, whatever, great.
He's Kershaw.
Great.
Julio Rias hasn't been pitching.
Great, but he's Julio Ruiroes.
He's going to be fine.
Catter-D.
going to be fine.
Right?
Wow.
He is.
On the field.
On the field.
Maybe not off the field.
Because I still, I don't know.
We'll talk about that.
He's as pitcher as a pitcher can be.
Bobby Miller,
I feel like you're going to have him as like a four or five guy down the stretch.
And then who am I missing?
There's someone on missing.
Emmett Sheehan.
Emmett Sheehan's the other kid.
Grove is the other kid.
Grove has been getting hit.
Walker Beeler is supposed to come back.
I think he's going to be in a limited
role, obviously.
He's still saying September 1st, but I don't think that's going to be the case.
Maybe mid-September.
Mid.
I was just looking at the fan grass, the roster resource like the other day, and I was just like,
the Dodgers, like, don't necessarily need the pitching.
It's great for depth, but once you go down into that playoff rotation, they don't really
need someone.
And they got Lance Lynn as depth.
I could see them 100% going after some more bullpen help.
I mean, even the Flaherty thing makes a ton of sense to me for him to go there.
because same same zies as lance lynn first pregame outfit side by side next to lance lynn's
first pregame outfit i just think it makes sense it makes sense they don't need to go after they
were trying to get erod trying to get verlander we haven't even talked about verlander still might if
they let erud stay in the house erud come to the hills baby come to the hill so it's like a pancake
with cheese in the middle not a fan of that thing is my guess because that cheese looks like it's
congealed that's a combination of work
that I really wasn't hoping it here.
Well, you have to try it.
I'd have a bite.
We hyped it up as part of the show.
You want to talk Verlander?
We haven't even talked about it.
I mean, we're jumping to Verlander?
Okay, we don't have to do.
Maybe do your fourth favorite trade.
You got a whole hour on the clock here.
I don't want that.
It's definitely cheese panes.
Oh, I will not eat that.
What kind of cheese is that?
That looks like ricotta.
That's a, that's a, seriously, it's like old cheese.
It's like the, like, you know, the Mexican dessert cheese.
Godia?
I don't know.
Okay, throw it.
I mean, obviously you're trying.
That's the whole segment.
So he sponsored it.
Did,
Did Kendall Graveman go to the Astros too?
Yes.
Oh, my gosh.
Reunion season.
Yeah.
It's the reunion deadline.
Not bad.
You need all of it?
Yeah.
Probably with some guava on top.
Guava?
Yeah.
Like the fruit?
Is that cinnamon or is that burnt?
Have a piece.
It's burnt.
It's burnt.
It's burnt.
It follows up.
want it at all.
Bebs, do you want a piece of this pancake cheese sandwich?
I guess.
That there's not yet a reason known for the Rod Vito yet.
He wants something.
That's the reason.
Yeah, guys.
The unknown reason.
That's pretty good.
Call pass and ruin his, like, five minutes.
Put us on the rocks.
Not his five most important minutes of the year.
Put us on the rocks for the next month or so.
He's got a broken back still just like calling.
I just, I really want to know in detail what all these guys.
do to get their sources and get the info out so quickly.
Like are they like, please, sir, like, I'll buy you this at this store.
If you tell me and not this guy, like, there's got to be bribes, right?
No, it's just a bunch of losers.
I'm not privy to this information and I need to be privy to this information.
We've been on the beat before.
People that like you and want to see you break news hand you info.
But that's not, it's different, bro.
But then you have routine people.
Why does pass and get it 30 seconds before everybody else?
Like Jake has gotten it twice from the front office.
Jake has gotten it twice from the same person.
I've gotten twice from the same person.
Yeah,
but consistently in all these different front offices,
he's just that nice of a guy.
I've met Jeff Passing.
Jeff,
I love you,
you're nice guy,
but dude,
I'm not just going to give you an...
I think he's grease in pockets.
Say it.
Say it.
I'm saying if I had the info in a front office
and I was going to leak it out to somebody,
you know what I want?
A dinner or something.
Like when they're finalized,
it's not a leak.
It's a team sending it out.
No, no, no, no.
That's the difference.
If the question is, does Jeff pass and pay for some people's dinners?
I think yes.
I don't think it goes much further.
I'll go back to this all the time.
And this is so stupid.
This is so dumb.
But it's an example that makes sense.
The Alamo.
Not the Alamo.
Gosh, that's so many thoughts on Montalk, and we'll talk about that afterwards.
I signed a minor league deal with the Rangers.
I was at Disneyland with my family.
You and Todd Frazier.
Okay.
Yeah.
And before, like I said yes to the Texas Rangers on a minor league deal, mind you, okay?
Before I could even tell anybody else.
I told my agent, call them.
Before we could tell anybody else, we wanted to tell other teams, all this stuff.
Ken Rosenthal had it.
And it was on Twitter, and my agent made him take it down.
But like, it was so fast that, like, he has somebody.
I didn't care.
What the hell did I tell him to take it down?
care. My agent was mad because he's being an agent.
I'm saying, I'm not mad about it.
I'm saying how the hell, like they have people here.
If I was a cop right now, grease and palms.
If I was a detective right now, I'd say this.
Okay.
It's not my agent.
You only knew and you told who.
My agent said yes.
You can go back.
I guarantee Ken Rosent also has it.
Sounds like your agent's cubicle mate told Ken.
No, we were all together.
agents leak it because they want people to be excited.
Just to tell them to take it down.
That's silly.
That's to win your heart, man.
You got double played there.
No, I did.
It's just dumb.
And I know these guys are grease and palms.
And guess what?
Everybody in the front offices, I'll grease your palms a little bit more.
How about that?
Is that the game?
Did I just win the game?
I don't think you know.
I'm off of it.
You hate breaking news.
I got scared.
My fourth or fifth favorite trade is Montgomery to the Rangers.
Okay.
because he's just going to give you innings.
Like if they want to use them as the Lance Lynn
and just make the rotation deeper they can,
but he's also been very, very good this year
and a lefty that he pencils in actually higher in their rotation now.
And, you know, there's another trade that they did
that might be higher than four.
But I do think that's a solid trade
because you're getting a guy who's going to ride the season out for you
and give your bullpen a rest,
which is huge when you're in a race downstretch
that you can lean on a guy.
to give you, I think he averages six innings a start right now.
And you need that down the stretch, especially when you're in a pennant race
and the bullpen arms are going to be used a lot.
You need starters that can help out.
I mean, I just love it from the fact that they had a couple starters go down,
guys they were going to rely on.
And instead of standing pat being like, like, we tried to do this.
They're like, let's continue to do this.
But I also think there's something admirable.
about knowing you have a gaping hole on your roster
and not doing anything about it for years.
This sounds like Yankees talk.
Sounds like you're getting your pockets greased when you say that.
I just think it's admirable to be like...
Oh, like left-handed hitters.
You want to do some left-handed hitters?
Yeah, or lefty bats or left-fielders.
I think left-handed hitters and lefty bats, I think are the same.
It's admirable to go to the public and say,
We know that you know we need lefty bats and left fielders and we know it as well
And then never do anything about it
That shows a lot of balls and courage
So yes, it is nice that the Rangers lost some guys had holes and they filled it immediately
I just think don't always get so down on people that don't do that now would you consider the Texas Rangers the best offense in baseball
No, the Braves are pretty good aren't all the Braves?
Texas Rangers have the first spot in average,
the first spot on base percentage,
the second spot in OPS,
and the first spot in the most important.
Runs.
Runs.
Yes, I'm not, I'm not,
I was more inquisitive with my answer than saying it,
but I would like,
the last time I looked at the Braves were asked.
People get mad because the Braves are so good,
and gosh, we always talk about how good they are,
and they made some moves too that will get to,
because we still have some time.
But the Rangers need a little bit of,
like help like propagandizing
propaganda ing what's that word
you want the rangers to get more hype
yeah their offense man yeah
I think they kind of slumped at a bad time
going into the all-star break that they weren't sexy for a second
they are a half game up on the Astros
which is horrifying because it just got Yordon
Altuve and Verlander
yeah and Jose Bray who's crushing the ball
and Kendall Graveman and Kendall Graveman who gets hit but I don't
No, how.
So that's, as much as I love, even the whole storyline of Texas,
like we got so caught up in San Diego and we got so caught up in the Mets and now
they're selling.
The Rangers essentially did the same thing.
They bought a whole pitching staff.
They signed two awesome middle infielders.
Then they had a couple young guys click.
Now they've gone out at the deadline.
They bring in Scherzer.
Like, it's everything you want.
But, like, they're still in a trick.
They're, like, not out of the woods.
Like, remember how Tampa had the best April ever,
and it was like,
will anyone ever catch this team?
The Orioles are in first place.
Like, we could, by the end of today,
the Astros could be the first place Astros.
Everybody knows that.
And then your halos are coming.
Gritchick and Crone.
Hot.
Handsome CJ?
This is great fodder right now.
Listen to this.
I just...
Let's go.
Now try this cheese pan cake.
I'm not touching that thing, bro.
I've been eating poorly on this trip.
Don't like my body.
I think I had a bad bite.
Okay.
They say before your...
You smell this thing.
Oh.
I mean, what's it smell like?
Cheese pancake?
A burnt cheese.
Yeah.
So the Rangers, 5.75 runs per game.
The Braves, 5.6-2 runs per game.
The Dodgers are next,
which I also think their offense
doesn't get enough credit because, you know,
everyone says they're very top-heavy
and they don't have enough to sustain 5.56 per.
Then it's the raise.
I want you to guess who's number five.
And don't you dare look at it.
In OPS?
Runs per game.
Oh, the big one.
That's my new favorite staff.
So we went Rangers, Braves, Dodgers,
and Rangers.
It's literally the game is the game.
The Boston Red Sox.
Boston Red Sox are number six.
Fuck.
I don't know ball.
List all the teams again.
and I can't see your screen.
Rangers are number one.
Braves are number two.
Dodgers three.
Raise four.
Blank is five.
Boston Red Sox six.
Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays, my friend, are below league average.
I thought they were.
I thought you were.
I thought you were trying to trick me.
I'm not.
I kind of am trying to trick you with this.
You're not going to get it.
Okay.
Marlins.
It's the freaking angels.
more what's up with that dude nobody talks about that nobody talks about that the angels are
fifth fourth fifth and runs nobody's talking about the angels being the fifth highest run scoring
i actually did tweet that out earlier today i just used emojis and i can i can i can i can
i can go even better with you guys because i'm now i'm getting freaked out all right
texas rangers number one and o ps plus alana braves number two and ops plus the rays are number
three at OPS Plus.
The Dodgers are number five in OPS Plus,
and the freaking Angels are number four in OPS Plus.
Now, I get you.
We're talking Shohay Otani's a lot of that, right?
Yeah.
But that's surprising.
To me, I don't know.
He hits and then he plays the mound.
But only once a week.
So we're all in on the Angels.
We're all in on the Angels.
We want to be, I think for the first time.
program history, we want to be all in on the Angels.
Whoa.
We've wanted to be.
I want the Angels to be a playoff team.
I always have.
That is never...
I treat the Angels the same way I treat the Yankees in which, when I say, what the
fuck are you doing?
Please get me a team to the postseason with a winning chance.
Right.
So I don't know if I think they do have a bit of a way to go here.
But yeah, I want them to do it.
Now I'm wanting more from them.
I'm wanting another move from them.
I'm wanting a bullpen piece.
Like, why didn't they go get Paul Seawald?
Nevin versus Hyde in a playoff series?
That's so much masculinity and raspy voice.
That might be the raspiest managed series to ever happen post.
I think Hyde's a little younger,
but I think Nevin is in better shape.
I've seen both of them recently, and Nevin is just...
Nevin's got into really good shape
because he got COVID and he got scared.
Oh, really? He looks great.
Yeah.
Oh, it actually was the brawl versus the red socks.
Yeah, you got Phil Nevin.
Yeah, there was a brawl versus the Red Sox and Nevin was out there bouncing around.
And he said that like when he saw himself back in that video, he was like, I got to lose some weight.
He looks phenomenal.
Awesome.
Uh-oh.
Luis Patino to the White Sox.
Four.
Cash.
Cash.
Who was he with at this point, the raise?
Rays.
I thought that guy was going to be a superstar.
Snell trade?
He came from a.
Madres.
Still 23.
How much cash did they do?
Do they just need a clear 40, man?
I think so.
They just saw Uncle Stevie buying players,
so the White Sox were like, let's do that.
Yeah, 23 and 279 days today.
I can't believe he's still that young.
The White Sox email out to every team, like,
give us a price tag for each prospect.
I think it was the opposite.
Let's buy a prospect.
We've got 700 grand.
Was he on the 40 man?
Petino?
I believe so.
We've got 700 grand to spend and we're bored of shit.
And we're a starting pitcher.
Where are you moving to?
Where are we dropping, boys?
We haven't really talked about Verlander yet.
We haven't really talked about the Padres going Rich Hill and G. Man Choy.
That, my friend, does nothing for me at all.
That's their attempt at a meme trade.
And it's not, I'm not falling for it.
Rich Hill and G. Man Choy are fan favorite.
favorite memeable players, much like I said with Joe Kelly and Lance Lynn,
but I'm not, we already had one meme package, and I'm not falling for this.
It's feeling, you like teams that have a weakness or an area they need to fill,
and you like when they fill them, right?
This is the same thing.
I mean, Rich Hill is going to be a fifth guy, innings type of guy.
Waka is coming back, so they're going to go have a six-man.
Like, they need it.
I like this because this is the soft buy.
This is, hey, we need any hitters in the second half of our lineup.
We'll give G-Man a shot.
G-man hasn't been good this year.
But his career numbers, he's a 114 OPS plus hitter.
Like, that's good.
If he can be that, the Padres have been dying for that.
And yeah, Rich Hill is a figurehead in this trade.
If they could get a handful of five innings, two or,
and run starts from him, like they would applause and maybe he will.
But yeah, those locker room vibes.
Old Man Hill and Hot Boy G-Man.
G-Man is a platoon DH for them, and who is he splitting time with?
I think they're trying to trade for someone else to split time with them.
Yeah.
I guess I'm not like, if you're out of the wild card right now, then and you're soft buying,
it's not moving the needle for me.
Okay.
I mean, this is what I have here.
This is going from MLB.com.
You're in the wild card and you're soft buying to just, you know,
solidify some holes.
I like that.
Choi brings the lefty power bat that San Diego has been searching for.
You guys have seen him hit homers off a certain pitcher on your team.
I mean, they had Cruz and Carpenter and O'Dore.
So what the fuck?
Well, Cruz is a righty.
Carpenter's still on the roster?
Cruz is Ritey.
And he's not on the roster anymore.
Carpenter's.
Is he still in the roster?
He still is.
He still is.
He still is not Carpenter is.
Yeah.
And Ador is not.
He'll start at D.H against right-handed pitching
while coming off the bench against lefties
to allow both of the team's right-handed hitting catchers,
Gary Sanchez and Luis Capisano to start.
Go Gary.
So he's filling the Matt Carpenter role.
Padreys are a team I want in the postseason.
I do too.
Just letting you know that.
I do too.
I love Juan Soto.
They're going for a W-4 tonight, right?
Like, if they had...
They saw the Rangers.
If they had trickled in,
last couple days they'd i don't think they'd be doing this so i don't know the vibes are still high like
just keep the train going upwards say trickle trickle thanks jake used a phrase in one of his
trade recaps that i thought was awesome what did you say yeah that was one of the first phone review
videos phone trade review videos it's it was good you said like uh like dripping hope or like
yeah drips of hope drips of hope that's not saying though it's not
No, he created it.
Okay.
I like that for you.
Drips of Hope?
That's just like a band name.
Yeah, maybe that like a really, one really good song that you know.
Some people say drips of hope is just crying.
Awesome.
Is it here?
No, no trade.
But Tommy Fam poked his head into the manager's office and left the clubhouse in street
closed.
No word yet that he's been traded.
That doesn't mean any.
That doesn't mean anything.
But Faye just started at the strip club.
Seems like he left the state.
Pacers is a beautiful establishment.
Pacers?
Yeah.
Been there on a bachelor party one time.
I got one to go to.
It's actually hilarious about Tommy fan.
What about the Braves bringing in?
Jack Flaherty.
Bradhand.
I like it.
That's me and Jim's number one trade.
Is that number one for you guys?
I'm on it.
I'm on the Braves being like,
we don't really have much to do,
but we just don't want to sit here.
like we want to do some things.
Brad Hand is good at baseball.
I know they wanted a lefty reliever.
I said drips of hope to the G-Lito,
Ronaldo Lopez trade.
And then you trademarked it.
Yeah.
That's ours.
That is ours.
Everyone back off.
Yeah.
Drips of hope.
Braves are still going to add a starting pitcher.
Like, I think Jack is in play for them.
It's 30 minutes left.
Erod, if he doesn't have his 10-team block list for Atlanta.
Well, who's on his list?
All those teams should just see what's good.
Oh, my.
Brad Hand has been really good.
except for one outing.
Was it against Yankees?
He had a bad outing against Detroit,
one inning pitch for Ernie's.
But other than that, he's just been like...
He's Braden.
This year, that is.
If he exclude that outing,
I bet you his ERAs in the threes,
low threes.
Oh, hit it.
A awesome.
Colton Wong
saying goodbye to teammates in the clubhouse.
Of the Mariners, Colton Wong, right?
He didn't get traded already, right?
He's still with the Mariners.
Glaber to Miami,
Colton Wong, to the Yanks?
What does that mean?
DFA?
That's full rumor.
Full rumor.
Austin hedges to the Rangers.
Austin Hedges.
To the Rangers.
From the pirates.
Chris Rose rotation.
Chris Rose rotation to the Rangers.
For Jonah Heim being out.
Yeah.
Jonah Heim was one of the better.
You lose.
You refilers.
Yeah, exactly.
Except Jonah Heim is a beast.
He's a dog.
Looks like Jack Davis sometimes.
We'd have a nice night with him.
I think Jonah.
and I would get together.
And, yeah.
No, not Jonah Heim.
Jonah Heim doesn't like me.
Oh, I would, I was just that I would,
him and I wouldn't get together,
and then I would send him over to you.
Hedges looks like if Postman didn't get tattoos
and go in, get into music.
Ooh.
Hmm.
I think Post-Billin's skinny now?
That's awesome.
So do you think the Rangers are going to send down Sam Huff?
Huff.
What does they just be?
Is Sam Huff the second catcher now?
Who else do they have on the roster?
Oh, my God.
Literally your best friend, Mitch Garver.
Mitch Garver.
It's true.
It's not my best friend, but a friend.
A friend.
Sometimes I lose track of backup catchers, bro.
I'm going to admit that right now.
That's fucking rude.
That is such.
I'm sorry.
I knew Mitch was there.
I could make more backup catchers and starting catchers all time.
I know that he's in the game, but they trade teams a lot, right?
Am I right about that?
Come on, guys.
At least give me that.
Don't make me feel bad about Mitch.
Backup catchers always move at the deadline because everyone wants a little
I love Mitch Garver.
He's been on sequence.
a good hitter.
Colton Wong this year,
negative 1.3 war, 34.
I mean,
that might,
I don't know,
what's his,
isn't he on a deal?
He's been bad.
Yeah,
I know,
but what's,
like,
he's a free agent after this year.
Him and Winker
got traded for each other
and they've both been off.
Here's the,
here's the disappointing thing.
Yeah.
That's a trade where you want to say
both teams were wrong,
but both teams were right.
Here's the thing about Colton Wong.
This guy stinks.
They were either going to both be wrong or both be right.
I don't want to start invoking the chat
Hold on one second
Someone said Tommy fan to the twins
Trev you've covered the twins this year
Tommy fan shows up in that locker room
What's the vibe?
Oh I'm just getting some text
I thought it was somebody from the twins
Are you greasing wheels with the twins?
No I'm not I'm not
Who's our guy? Dustin
Let's raise him up
I tried before
Let me finish with Colton Wong real quick
Right
He has at the start of this year
Nine years and 45 days
If he is DFA, is he going to be just shy of 10 years?
I have to do the math.
I think so, which is, sucks.
What are you looking at service time?
Yeah.
Anyways, what would Tommy fan do to the Twins locker room?
I think he will liven it up.
Tell you that much.
Sure, word.
He's him and Correa.
9.045 service time for Colton Wong.
At the start of this year.
So he's got.
Yeah, it's the pre-2020
value.
So he got another
three-quarter year, whatever,
and I'm assuming he's like
really freaking close, man.
Anyways, Tommy Fam, I think,
would be great.
I mean, they're looking for a right-handed bet.
The twins are.
I've been clamoring for Paul Goldschmidt.
I guess that's not going to happen.
The thing with the,
that is weird to me
is they have so many outfielders, dude.
So, like,
they need to trade some of those outfielers.
and I know we're kind of
we'll deep dive into the Twins farm system here
but like in AAA like Matt Walner's come up
and he's done he's hit the ball
extremely well in the big leagues
but he doesn't have a place.
Trevor Larnick has kind of
he's been okay
like has shown that he's a big league hitter for sure
but he doesn't have a spot
and then you have Kirillov at first base
but he can play left field
you have Max Kepler out there
now you're bringing in Tommy Fam
it's like dude I don't think
I get you need a right-handed bat
but you don't need another outfieler
so some of those outfielers have to go
And I was hoping either bullpen would come back
or Paul Goldfman will come back
and Louis Varlane would be in the deal.
But, you know, I like Tommy Fam.
It's an upgrade for the twins,
but I don't, it wasn't my first choice.
Okay.
It's your first, it's your least favorite non-traded.
Is it official?
No.
No, no.
Not even really.
I'm still hoping for Paul Goldschmidt.
I saw Hayman tweet that twins would be an option.
Did you guys already talked about Blue Jalbush?
Jason Hicks.
Before you do that,
just Pirates got bonus money
for hedges.
That's what the return.
Bonus money.
International bonus point.
Nice.
Well, I love that Hedges
is now in the running
for a World Series ring.
Great for the rotation.
Who's the guy that has
multiple
Benji?
Chances for the
World Series ring.
Taylor Hearn.
Taylor Hearn.
That's right.
Now he's got three chances.
He pitched for the Braves for an inning.
So he's got Braves,
Phillies.
No.
Rangers, Braves, and now he's on the Royals.
So if they go on a run.
Okay.
Well, two chances.
Royals are bad.
Yankees swept them.
The Yankees are awful.
The twins got swept by the Royals, bro.
It's bad.
That's terrible.
When the Royals came to Yankee Stadium,
they swung at every single pitch thrown.
It was impressive.
Okay.
It was a team.
Bobby Wood Jr.
hit a walk up Grand Slam.
And that little girl didn't see it.
She saw, she heard it.
She wasn't.
She heard the roar of the crowd.
She turned and saw the...
Is that why she was crying?
Not tears of joy.
I missed it.
That's horrible.
Oh, my goodness.
Someone was filming her specifically for a reaction.
They don't nudge her and be like, hey, he's up.
I think it was her dad.
You think the whole thing was an act.
I don't know.
No.
I don't think it was an act.
Give me that juice.
Do what, Jimmy, you should do a fan fiction.
Because, you know, we know that there's some rules we have to abide by now.
I kind of stay in nonfiction.
That means real.
Fiction means...
I want you to do a tweet
that's like the Tommy fam showed up to the clubhouse
and was seen in street clothes.
Because technically that's nothing.
Well, it was that he left.
I already did a tweet.
I know you did.
I know you're just looking for a little more of a lane.
I think there's something there.
I can't.
I wish I could do troll treats,
but then the people that do them, I like...
No, don't do you...
What is troll tweets?
No.
But I don't want to troll fans,
and get their hopes up,
I want to troll the reporters
who are sending,
can you read that Marosi tweet?
Can you please?
Can we do like comedy hour of the day?
Oh, okay, comedy art.
But no, I'm saying, who is that tweet about?
I'm saying you should do it,
you should do a tweet that's like,
Teasca Hernandez showed up in an Uber Excel today.
That's good.
Yeah.
Interesting.
Were you guys Yankee fans when Jose Tavada
just walked out of the minor leagues?
Do you remember that?
No, but I was a Yankee fan with Noblo
just walked out of the stadium,
Mariners are not engaged
In discussions
Wait is this the Marosi one?
Yeah
Can you do like a sound effect
That's a comedy tweet of the day?
I fucked my dog on that one
Oh my goodness
The Mariners are not engaged in discussions
About trading Logan Gilbert
With less than three hours to go before the deadline
Posted two hours ago
That's pretty big
That's pretty big
Yankees are not in discussion
With the Padres about trading one Soto
With 30 minutes to go
In deadline
That's the same thing
You don't know that because
I just said it.
They were on my list.
Oh, please take that sound off the soundboard.
How many people do you think we're tweeting at Morosi?
Give us the fucking Gilbert to the Marlins update.
Give us the update to the point where he had to be like,
guys, they're not talking.
Oh, all the replies are about how Nightingale
used Logan Gilbert earlier.
So the replies scrolling through their RMS.
Oh, that's, is it this reporter war between Nightingale?
Nightingale Morosi?
Nightingale gets things wrong on purpose, and he is winning.
Yeah.
We've decided.
Everyone loves.
We've come around on your guy, Bob.
Yeah.
How could you not?
That's, he's the only guy I trust.
He's playing the game.
He's playing the game.
Haman lives on the moon.
Heyman doesn't know he's playing the game.
Bob knows he's playing the game.
Buster only is weak.
I can do my Haman impression.
I think Buster would agree with you.
He called me soft.
Charming soft.
Charming soft.
Charming soft.
Get it right.
Hey, also, that's like, you're not cool because you said Charmin soft.
I don't know.
It's not.
Too soft for me, Charmin.
I don't like feeling like I'm just brushing.
This is the one I should have done before.
Expectation is the Cardinals will still trade Jack Flaherty,
perhaps in conjunction with an outfielder such as Dylan Carlson or Tyler O'Neill.
Oh, so he's going to a good team.
Wow, he's going to the Yankees.
The Dodgers still want to add SP, perhaps the Braves, too.
Is that Hayman?
Joel Sherman.
Well, if he's, if you see Joel's.
Conjunction up the bruce.
Joel tweeted
There's like a half hour left of the deadline and 29 teams have made a trade since
July besides the Yankees are the only one.
Oh,
the teams looked good.
Sounds like Jake and Joel Sherman are the same person because you have been nasty.
Joe Sherman has, he wears white pants every now and then.
So that does put him in the Jake.
I need a new pair of white pants.
Yeah.
Yeah.
My white pants are very 2015.
You need to get some Jack Flaherty cut white pants.
I don't know if that's good for your body.
Verlander's the biggest trade.
And I kind of like Cohen.
Being fucking so reactionary.
All right.
Didn't work?
We suck.
Let's do it again.
I'm gonna power through.
I think he's got like a reason.
Like I feel like he's like made up.
Yeah, he's like made up a reason in his in his head saying like, yeah, okay.
Let's get rid of these guys
Restock the Farm System
I thought I got a bunch of winners
Turns out I got a bunch of guys this summer
If they're good
They'll trade the prospects they just got
If they're bad
They'll do it all over
Well we talked about
I don't know
I guess that was whenever our last show was
Friday
Yesterday
Maybe it was yesterday
We talked about him
Saying
Okay I tried the free agent market
Didn't work
Sell let's try it again
Like there's a bunch of good free agents
this year.
And if he's like, dude, what are our chances of getting to the playoffs really?
And they said 17%.
He's like, I don't like that number.
And then once we get there, what are our chances of winning?
And they said, man, I don't know.
Yeah, he's treating it how I want it to be treated.
Oh, we want to win the fucking World Series.
We're not interested in going to a wild card and like barely competing.
Justin Burlander's last nine starts, 55 innings pitched a 195 ERA.
so he's still got a little bit of juice in the chamber.
What?
Didn't he go to the Mets because they gave him an extra year
and the Astros wouldn't give him that extra year?
Yeah, I mean, he cleaned up.
And now the Mets just gave him that year,
so now the Astros get the years.
So did he?
He did the George Hill.
Well, they get that year for free if he takes it.
It's like the money the Mets gave.
And that's the big, is that the biggest,
It's the top 50 overall prospect that the Mets got in return.
Depends on your list, but around that 50 range.
Drew Gilbert.
Fangraphs.
Joe sent an audio message.
Should we play this live?
It's 34 seconds long.
Oh, my.
I haven't listened yet.
So wait, let me just ask this question.
So the Mets are paying for Verlanders next year.
So he's going to be pitching for free.
Same with Scherzer?
Yeah, I believe.
To the Houston Astros are going to have Justin Verlander for free next.
year. Is that what you're telling me?
It doesn't count on next year. Next year's already on the book. I know it's 54 million total
going to there, 53. I haven't done the exact number on what prorated for what this year is
and next year. Okay, it says mess will pay $35 million. They purchased prospects. I think that
third year is $35 million, so it's that plus remainder of this year's money. So maybe next year is
the year they pay. I was saying like maybe Steve Cohen's like, hey, let's get under this
Steve Cohen tax real quick.
but like all that money is counting towards it.
I think he's our $1 million over it.
I know he doesn't care.
He didn't want a single article to come out saying
Steve Cohen's trying to get under this Cohen tax.
That's a terrible look for him.
So he's like, hey, let's just.
I'm going to trade for prospects and I'm going to make sure we stay over my tax
because I hate you guys.
Think about this.
We were talking the other day.
I think we were talking about the Angels.
And I compared them to your Los Angeles Rams, Matt, staff.
What up?
That's Matthew.
That we were saying, you know, they sold out.
They traded all their first picks every year.
They got to a Super Bowl.
It kind of left them in a bad spot,
but they won a Super Bowl.
They built up their team, all of that.
Angels, they kind of pushed in all their chips.
The other way to do this is if the Mets,
I just touched on it,
but like, if Uncle Steve goes out and buys whatever players he wants again
and say they're bad again,
he'll just buy more prospects
until the next year, where he'll buy more free agents,
they'll be good,
and then he's got this plethora of prospects to cash in on if he wants to.
Like, I think he's kind of gaming the system here,
and I think it's awesome.
And I wish the Yankees would have realized to do this a decade ago,
because your advantage is having a big payroll.
Yes.
Half the teams in the league don't give out big contracts.
What's the Yankees payroll right now as far as top 10?
Are they three or four?
Two or three?
Three or four?
Yeah, two.
He goes the Mets to the Dodgers, to the Yankees.
That would be my guess.
Yeah, it's allocation.
It's been terrible.
Joe's left us a message.
I don't know if these numbers have been adjusted since the deadline.
Looks like Mets 1, Yankees, 2, Padres, 3.
Podres forgot about that.
Doing nothing is crazy.
Oh, 10% battery.
Oh, there was more.
I'm scared to hear the rest.
Doing nothing is.
That's okay.
They ended at a great spot.
See, I sweat right now.
If the Yankees don't at least sell, if they do nothing, I am going to lose my shit.
Losing nothing is crazy.
I swear.
Trade them away.
Get something.
One more he said losing nothing is crazy.
He's so mad.
Losing nothing is really good, actually.
Losing nothing, the Yankees the 20-23 season.
I think they're
Bro, everything is right in front of them
Fuck
We have
It's in the clubhouse
Yeah, you forgot that
But they're
It's all right in front of them
It's all right in front
Hey, uh,
You got a blue moon over there
Check it up your butt
It's warm blue moon
Still tastes good
They're kind of chilly
A little bit
A can
Definitely been scoled
The cans chilly
There's no way the
I mentioned that you could go to
Seatkeek
To watch some of these new guys play
if you're looking to stay at home,
you could watch at Valley Sports.
Oh, you know,
your other employer.
Give me one of those in the stead.
Slip me a short boy.
Yeah, I'm here.
I got you.
Hands team, hello.
Valley Sports.
You know, 18 regional sports networks.
I think the twins.
I think the twins.
He's a Valley's cat.
I'm employed.
Brew, crew, go watch Canada.
Go watch Santana.
Go watch your team play.
Or maybe if you're a Yankee fan
and you're feeling like that voicemail,
go find.
Find a new team and watch them on Bally's.
The games are shorter and faster.
More people are attending baseball games in the last decade.
More people are watching baseball games.
It's true.
We might be tied to that.
Bally's is making short boy beers, which feels hella targeted because the games are faster.
So, no, they have 8.4 ounce can, so I don't know.
Tie that together if you want.
Go watch some games.
It's Short Boy Summer for baseball and for me every day.
Download the Bally's app or watch it.
on your cable or click the link.
How about that?
Treves' Bally's.
What Joe's just said
about the Yankees,
you could do that with the twins.
What are we doing here?
Like, I've said this on air before,
so I'll say it again.
I don't think there's some
extended leash for Falvi and Levine, right?
Like, you got to go,
you got to go do something, man.
I know you got Correa to come there.
That's great.
But, like, you're sitting there right now.
Nobody's trying to win the division that you're trying to win.
The Guardians aren't really trying to win this division.
That's their point.
They're not.
They're not.
The twins are trying to win the division.
So, like, you got to do something.
We got to make some moves.
If it's Tommy Fam, it's Tommy Fam.
Great.
But, like, let's go.
So losing nothing.
Awesome.
Tommy Fam has been traded.
to the Diamondbacks.
Oh, my God.
Joe's posted the video of that,
and Noah was just in the back on his switch,
and a lot of people saying Noah is the Yankees' front officer.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
Give me some fingerprints.
Now, where's that rank?
Jake, does that crack your top 10?
It's currently not in my top 10.
The Diamondbacks have had depthed outfield all year.
Like that, remember one of the preseason storylines
was like,
backs are going to trade one of their young out.
Alex Thomas probably gets traded or Jake McCarthy and said they're bringing in
Big Dick Tommy fam and I don't know.
I guess set the tone.
How do you know?
Be the light.
That's an assumption.
It's an assumption.
By the way, Tommy carries himself.
He's all right down there.
All right.
So what are those guys been up to?
I'm looking at Jake McCarthy.
He's got a 672 OPS.
Alec Thomas 679 OPS.
Although honestly, when I watch Alec Thomas,
I'm like, dang, like he looks like a baller.
Covers ground.
He's just got to hit a little.
Every single time I watch the guy play, he's doing something cool.
Overall, offensively, neither of those guys have gotten the job done.
So obviously there's a little bit of an upgrade there.
I know we make some Tommy fam jokes because he's giving us some good ammo and content, to be
honest.
he's also raked to this year.
So like, if you get the Tommy fan that has an 820 OPS this year, any baseball team can use that guy.
So I'm not mad about it if I'm the stakes.
Hell, maybe he comes in and, like, scare some of the kids a little bit.
And he's like, all right.
I guess we got to win now.
He's also Tommy fans are righty.
Correct.
Yes.
All the Diamondbacks outfielders were lefties.
Yes.
So is he just going to be a once just rotate through?
I know.
It depends.
I mean, he's outperforming these guys.
Yeah.
Anyway, so he'll probably get the starts.
They're pushing, right?
For a while.
Hey, unless something bad happens.
And I, hey.
You're adding against lefties, which isn't that common.
We've talked about,
No, but I think he'll play.
I think he'll play.
I think he'll play.
I think he'll do everything.
And then they'll probably bring in one of these dudes in the eighth inning
for a defense replacement.
I had to guess.
And you're giving yourself another lottery ticket.
His numbers of Friday are,
uh,
his numbers are Friday aren't bad.
Tommy fam could be great for two months.
Yes.
Yes.
So why not?
People have been writing the snakes off,
including myself.
Like they just kind of like fallen from grace, but they're still like,
they're still right there.
I think they're in a playoff spot still.
They're a game back of the Giants.
It's right.
They're three and a half back of the Dodgers.
Has their current playoff odds is 46.
I happen.
I just like that we're adding.
This is one that we're excited about.
Okay.
Orioles.
Jack Flaherty.
Close to acquiring Jack Flaherty.
Let's go.
I like that.
Kibian Flaherty?
Yes.
The old man in the sea.
Oh boy.
Who's the hot boy?
that equation.
We know it's Gibby.
Wow.
Peter Moyden just text me.
What did he say?
Let's see.
You have a tiny penis.
You know he has a bigger accent.
If I was good Jack.
Whoa.
I love Peter.
Awesome.
Okay.
I love that.
I mean, this is number one,
I'm a Jack Flaherty fan, as everyone knows.
We are.
And I wanted him to go
some place that had a chance to win this year.
And obviously they do.
They have the best record in the American League, right?
Tell them to hit it to left field.
This is, it's good.
The Orioles need to the starting pitcher.
I think Jack,
I think Jack going to a situation like this,
I think is going to thrive.
No statistics to back that up.
I just think that the added pressure
is going to be good for him.
Like, I think he likes that.
I know it's one of the biggest fights in talking baseball history
that me and Jimmy were trying to explain to you
that Gabe Kapler wasn't Philly hot,
and now he's displaying to the world that he's San Francisco hot.
Jack Flaherty.
Jack Flaherty is like kind of Baltimore sexy as fuck.
Oh, I don't know.
Yes.
Gibby's Baltimore hot.
No, no.
You've been to Baltimore?
No.
I've been to Baltimore.
Gibby's Arlington hot.
Jack is off the radar.
I think, no.
He's not even on the radar
I think Jack's hot.
His voice is normal.
Wait, I'm not saying Jack isn't hot.
Looking at the game logs.
I'm saying that he's too hot for Baltimore
that he stands out, that it's an eyesore.
Baltimore's like kind of cool.
They want their hotness to be relatable,
and Jack doesn't do that.
Ravens are cool.
Baltimore, like, Orioles are cool now.
Last start's not great.
For Jack, I mean, we got a quality start,
six innings pitch, three earned runs on July 16th,
then a six innings pitch, four earned runs,
then five innings pitch, three earned runs.
What do we think Jack's best 10 game stretches this season?
I'm looking at it right now and it includes some sixes in there,
so that's tough.
Yeah, but I mean, in that, okay, 10 starts from May 9th to July 6th?
I'm guessing it's like a 4-1.
58.1 innings, 309.
3-09, okay.
Although sixes didn't really hurt him.
Yeah, his catcher didn't even know what pitches he was calling him.
So you get out of the rush from back.
That's a good point of catching him.
And I just like the trade for everyone involved.
Because I think Jack is going to thrive in the pressure.
And the Orioles did need a starting pitcher.
I don't think it's going to cost him a lot of their prospects.
Yeah.
Do we ever return for it yet?
No return on that one.
The return for Tommy Pham was Jeremy Rodriguez, a 17-year-old shortstop.
He's going to be great.
He's going to be great.
wait what was the return for Monty
I'll find it
that to me honestly
I don't know Chris Stratton went with him obviously
oh I don't care then
if it's just flyer damage
I'm interested it gets muddied when there's multiple people
I don't know
who's still out there as a starting pitcher right now
cease if you want to
cease they've said they won't
erie maybe and erud
So, like, are the Orioles?
So where will Eiride go?
He doesn't like the heat in L.A.
Baltimore.
He's going to double down.
I guarantee.
Rosenthal just said that there's still an outside chance on that.
He's guarantee he's going to L.A.
I guarantee it.
He's just asking for stuff.
That's all.
I want to shower alone.
Five minutes ago, Rosenthal tweet was Dodgers talking to Red Sox about Pax and still
outside chance for Erod.
Who would need to reverse decision on no trade?
Both are considered long.
Go for it.
Orioles.
Get Paxson.
You need a lefty.
That's what I'm thinking.
I'm thinking the Orioles with going after Jack,
who's not going to cost a lot of money because he is a rental and the numbers aren't great this year.
I think that they're probably going to go out and do something else too.
Five minutes left.
Did Jack Texts?
Is it 6 p.m.?
Is it really?
Did Jack texture yet?
55.
No.
What would you guys give as a current grade to this deadline?
Five minutes before close.
Seven.
6.9.
There's been a lot of movement, but there's nothing.
The Mets tapping in was pretty good.
Scherzer and Berliner helped out for sure.
And I like that, but I just...
Otherwise, it's been a pretty standard deadline.
What team got...
What teams World Series out just went crazy?
Astros.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Which thing fucking A.
Why do they always do this?
Still had them as the favorites in the AL.
First pick in our second half wins draft anyway.
Text from one of my buddies.
Worried about Joe's.
Yeah, a little bit, a little bit.
I will say as far as rating the trade debt,
uh-oh.
The return for Jack Flaherty.
Cuban infield prospect, Seizar Preeto.
How old is he?
Twelve?
C-Preet.
Let's see. He's Cuban, though.
C-Pri.
Did you hear my new roster that I want to build?
24.
He's going to be great.
He's great.
A handful of Cubans.
A couple veterans and a couple fast guys.
And I'm going to win everything.
I'm going to win baseball.
Okay.
That's all we need.
Cuba didn't win the World Baseball Classic.
I get the handpicked my Cubans, man.
How are you spelling Kelvin P-D-O?
C-Sar-P-R-E-T-O.
P-R-I-E-T-O.
Yep, I wasn't even close to guessing that it was going to P-R-I-E.
The Yankees really did nothing.
It's not over yet.
We got three minutes.
We got probably 10 minutes left.
But they still don't even know what they still don't even know what they wanted it.
Here we go.
Here we go.
The New York Yankees are acquiring right-handed reliever Kenyon Middleton from the White Sox.
There we go, boys.
New York.
New York.
Starting to feel like ring season.
How mad are you right now?
I mean, I've always fancied Kenyon Middleton's game.
Yeah, pronounced Keenan.
So I love that Matt Blake will get a chance to tap into him.
Former Harbor Wesley pitching coach, Matt Blake.
Matt Blake.
That's not who it is.
He's on the white socks.
Ethan. Ethan Cats.
We'll need a New Jersey number because 99's taken.
They get their guy.
I don't know, man.
I'm not even like Joe's level angry
because, like, this team's already broken me.
You're done.
Why even do that?
Is he a true rental?
Looks like he entered this year with five years of service, so yep.
Yeah.
True rental reliever.
Rental reliever.
What are you talking about?
That should fix the offense.
It's all there, bro.
What else do we got?
We have two minutes left.
Here we go.
Who gives you?
Millies and Pittsburgh have made a trade.
McGarver.
Bailey Falter for Rodolfo Castro.
Okay.
I can't believe they pulled him.
Bailey Falter, a starting pitcher?
Yeah, he started this year.
Yeah, yeah.
They got Lorenzen now.
For what it's worth, Middleton's Svon is pretty drippy.
Okay.
But who cares?
Who cares?
That doesn't help the offense.
Sell.
three years.
If you're not helping the offense sell or...
I don't know what it could be.
Maybe something else is in this.
I think I got to ask Joe's.
I think doing nothing's better than your only move is a rental
relief or I'm putting it on him.
Kenan Middleton.
No,
Kenan's right.
Kenan's right?
Yes, I miss read it at first because Kenyon's a name I've heard.
No, it's spelled Keenan.
It's spelled Keenan.
I had, I dyslexia swapped the N&Y.
I don't have this.
Nickname made your key.
Clear to the people.
This is what happened.
The way of the Yan is.
Yankees do it, their GM,
because this is how it happened when he was assistant GM.
They split the league in half.
This isn't a joke.
One guy gets these teams,
the other guy gets these teams to go make the big-ass trades.
And then what happened was there was like another dude,
and this is where I'm making it up in the room.
It's like, hey, you guys didn't do shit,
but like I have this Keenan deal.
Should we just punch that?
And then they spent an hour debating,
should we do nothing or should we do the Keenan deal?
What's going to look worse?
And then the White Sox were like,
hey, angels kind of want Keenan.
Let's do it.
Okay.
That's so sad.
It's now 6 o'clock, guys.
Yeah, moved.
No way.
They rushed to Keenan Middleton deal at a deadline.
The last move.
Left that taste in your mouth.
Iron out the team.
Don't cease not traded official.
We're waiting.
There's going to be a few pass.
Yeah.
Baby, can you go find every beat reporter that tweeted out pencils down and mute them?
Tell me.
Tell me.
I was about to find some joke about it, but I feel like the joke is a dangerous place, but yes.
Is Erod going to turn down the Dodgers?
I think that's one we might see.
They agreed in principle, so, like, they have some time to work it out, like, I think.
Technically, the paperwork's already done.
That's going to, like, Ten Rosenthal is going to tweet that.
and we're going to be like, okay,
and he's going to say he finally got whatever he wanted,
which maybe he's like a new car.
Who knows?
It could be fucking...
Should we get to this stadium right now?
How did the Yankees not?
Fox Sports NLB pencils down.
Muted.
How did the Yankees not sell their rentals?
For anything, man, for 18-year-old short stops.
We're not sure.
We're not sure yet.
But like, do you trade Tommy?
They have to admit they're wrong.
They still haven't done that.
Go get all the 17-year-old short.
short stops that might become Trevor Poofs for seven years.
Oh.
And just have them.
Or they become, the 17 year old shortstop becomes a fucking phenomenal double A player.
And you trade them again.
Like, play the game.
To just sit out the game is so sad.
A historically bad team for the Yankees.
To just sit out the game when you have moves is nuts.
Did Joe's treat a video out?
So what else do we?
Here someone sent me the Ken Rosenthal tweet.
The White Sox traded six different pitchers this deadline.
Trevor Poof, indeed, as if it was rumored a ton or other like there was scuttle butt about it.
Like he was like stamping it.
He goes out as I reported and then redacted.
It's pretty funny.
Oh, that's why I said indeed.
I don't know.
As I reported, then retracted, then the fine, something confirmed.
My agent was so mad.
Top response.
Journalism 101.
Don't report something until multiple sources confirmed.
Yep.
Obviously.
It's good.
taught him a lesson that day.
Okay.
I guess it's it because usually by now we've had more passings.
Oh, no, you get, I think you get a 10-minute trickle.
Awesome.
Mets have traded reliever, Dominic Leone to the Angels.
Sure.
Keep going, baby.
Yep.
Let me see what Leone's stats up.
Long DFA, the chat's been wanting me to say that forever.
I think we already had said it.
Okay.
Okay.
So who have been our quiet boys?
Cincinnati.
Sinci.
With the Cubbies making a ton of moves.
Is the O's?
Would Jack Flaherty legit?
Yeah, yeah.
That's done.
Yeah.
That's done.
They got the Caesar Preeto.
Okay.
Yes, that's right.
So they didn't compromise their next six years at all.
Jim, what are you thinking about?
You had a look on your face.
That was a little.
Erod invoked his no trade clause with the,
Dodgers citing a desire to remain closer to his family on the East Coast.
Wow.
East Coast guy.
Detroit?
He's in Detroit.
Pretty east.
East Coast time zone.
East,
it's east of Atlanta.
Can't say coast.
Yeah,
I don't say coast.
I won't say more great...
His family's on the coast, so he's closer to them.
There's airplanes now.
Erod, I mean, I don't love that answer.
I mean, I don't love that answer.
I don't.
I do.
Trey Turner.
Your boy,
Trey Turner had a similar...
It's two months and then you get to opt out.
Two months in travel.
You're traveling.
You're on the road.
Don't you want to try to win a World Series with the daughters?
And like,
he already has a business.
I don't want a red flag.
Erod,
but he also left the team last year
to check out of family stuff for a year.
That's true.
That's true.
I don't know.
I don't know enough about the situation.
I can't believe MLB Network just posted
like a whole graphic about Keenan Middle
and
no way.
Yanks for clicks.
Yeah.
Wait, hold on.
What's the graphic?
What could they have prepped?
Yanks bullsured their bullpen.
No, they didn't.
6.3-215, good for fighting.
Dodgers,
official no moves for Minnesota Twins.
Trade deadline has passed.
That's insane.
Here comes my tweet.
That's insane.
What?
I don't know.
13.
This guy was in Minnesota.
What, I mean, what happened?
This deadline,
I think,
very messy because too many teams are in it because the wild card is stupid and a lot of teams
are leading that we're just were not prepared for this phase of the like do you think the reds
had a trade deadline plan prepped in April of this caliber you don't need it in April bro yes they
do these teams map out shit like crazy I think I guess maybe some of the asking prices were
big who did not get traded that was supposed to get traded though nobody I think a lot of teams
deciding they were in. Cardinals traded none of the outfielders.
Yeah, but I mean, those guys weren't rentals.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They just seemed like they were more than a year and a half.
That doesn't happen.
The Padres.
That was why last year's trade-down.
It was crazy.
Yeah.
Podre's opting in.
The weird Marshall O'Hoppy one is wild.
They're if they had the options just hold on to them there.
The other two teams that were kind of juicy, like the HALOs and the Cubs.
Rodgers and E-Rod officially not trade.
I think the rank.
So E-Rod's the only one that was like.
I like what the Rangers did.
I like what the Angels did.
I like what Baltimore did.
They could have done more.
They only got Jack.
They got Jack.
No, they traded for the A reliever a while ago.
And he just shut down the Yankees.
Fuji.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
He's been pitching well.
Well, the Yankees are one of the worst offices in baseball, but he did.
They checked the deadline boxes.
He's got a starting pitcher and a relief pitcher.
Yeah.
They canceled three of his pitches.
They should.
He's got a great splitter.
That's what the orders did.
They should.
The splitter's nuts.
Wow.
I mean, I'm disappointed in the deadline a little bit, I think.
Only because, you know, there wasn't, I mean, there was some massive names moved, I guess.
And it's the same damn team is making the smart moves, like the Astros.
Like, just, I feel like won the deadline.
I'm surprised the White Sox didn't move more of their hitters.
Like, if you were going to, you're going to send out the traders.
Burger.
He's been like their own, their only hitter.
Yeah, he was like, he's like team control and stuff.
Yeah, I don't know how good
The other Jake was their number four prospect, I think, so.
I'm not sure about that.
Yeah, I mean, if I had to pick a winner, I think it's the Astros.
Usually is.
Just because they added Justin Verlander for two years
And there's a bunch of money getting eaten by.
Have we got the Colton Wong deal yet?
DFA.
That's it?
Yeah, yeah.
Can he still be traded?
Or now he can just be signed, right?
I think one, yeah, I think once he's cleared
Who won the trade draft?
I had Flaherty going, so that's like five points for me.
I think I got like third place or something.
I think our guys are crunching numbers.
Did Jolly go shut out?
C's, no, Erod, no.
He would have, he had Erod to the Dodgers too.
He tweeted after the first report, like, Erod, he can't be serious.
That was good.
Estabez didn't trade.
Hader didn't trade.
Ely didn't trade, and it seems like Snell not traded.
So Jolly shut out.
That's for not inviting us to the party.
you all loser
only six picks
um you're not a loser i'm just jealous
at the raise
raise got savalli that's pretty
we didn't even talk about that one it's a really solid arm
oh so that was my ninth
texas did a tonne
i like what texo added that bench bat
the dalton was on and hicks hold on
and hicks and hicks and we like that
aaron savall has been really good yeah for the race to
to get him is five in six you know they're locked the most
out of a guy like that
Mets were kind of proud they sold.
Sure.
I'll put that stamp.
Proud.
Phillies, they needed a fifth starter.
They get Lorenzen.
They did more than that, right?
Well, they flipped,
falter for Rodolfo Castro at the end of it.
Okay, that was it.
And they had DFAed Josh Harrison.
I'll say,
Rodolfo Castro, young, talented player,
and they just tapped into,
like they did this with Marsh.
So the Twins' only trade is
Dylan Flores.
for
Jorge Lopez.
Reliever for reliever.
Did the Braves do anything?
Yeah, they got Nikki Lopez,
Brad, Han, and Pierce Johnson.
I don't, but they do enough.
Like, that doesn't change their, like,
it doesn't guarantee.
The best team.
What a weird deadline.
I like when, like,
the good teams fucking get crazy good.
Like, the Astros getting Verlanders,
a team going, like,
yeah, they're going to make the playoffs.
The two Texas teams.
Yeah.
The two Texas.
Those were, yeah,
those were big moves
that both them made.
And I think, like I said,
you know,
Atlanta doesn't really need
They don't need to do anything.
Like Max Fried is coming back like this weekend.
I hope the Angels
It's true.
Get to the playoffs and win
because they did a lot.
Like if you're a Cubs fan,
you probably feel like you won the trade deadline
because you didn't trade the guys
and now you're going for it.
That's like an amazing feeling as a fan base, right?
And you got Jamer.
Yeah, you got Jamer.
Like that feels like an absolute win.
If they believe,
if Cubs fans believe in their ability to win in the post,
I don't think it even matters.
I don't think it matters, dude.
I think you have that.
It's your Yankee fan because you do fucking 30 rings, whatever it is.
Yankees could have made trades to get to the postseason.
I wouldn't have liked it.
Trickle.
New York Mets are acquiring pitchers Phil Bickford and Adam Kalerica.
For the Dodgers.
They both been DFA.
I think both.
I know Bigford did.
Yeah, Bigford.
That's just a round out of the season.
I think so.
And now our bodies coming in.
Matt, give them Kintana or something.
What are we doing?
It's probably because the Mets want starters,
so they don't have to start any clocks on young guys for the rest of the season.
So.
Those are innings.
I should know this.
We should know this.
Bebers,
maybe you've got to look this up for us.
But there's no more waiver trades.
August is done.
No more waiver trades.
Like you can.
No,
the only way is the guy can get DFAed and then you should pick him up.
Those are waiver trades.
And I think you can,
you can do trades for people not on the 40-man roster.
Yeah, I think it's,
I don't think that's minor thing.
Oh, yeah.
Right, right, right.
Yeah, I'm kind of going,
over.
Oh, awesome.
Uh-oh.
The Miami Marlins are acquiring first baseman Josh Bell from the Cleveland Guardians.
What?
For infieler, Gene Seguer and infield prospect, Khalil Watson.
I mean, that's a trade.
That's a, that's a, that's a trickle trade right there.
I love that because that's just a piece for a piece.
Like, those are teams in it shaking it up a little bit.
No, that's freaking.
Garrett Cooper also.
That is the Guardians not wanting to win the division.
Why?
They're getting two.
Cooper and Seguer could outplay Josh Bell the rest of the year.
I know that Segarry's been bad, but a big bad.
Wait,
Garrett Cooper went?
Cooper went.
Interesting.
Wasn't in the past.
The tweet was in the Rosenthal.
That's an interesting.
That's a left last.
That's how the Guardians trade, man.
Interesting.
Okay.
Garrett Cooper, I'm assuming, has, oh, he's a free agent after this year.
Cooper, I think, has an opt-out that I'm guessing.
No, he's a free, he has a player option.
Yeah, so opt-out.
Interesting.
Okay, I like that trade.
Marlins want some pop.
A little bit of pop.
What's he been doing lately?
His overall numbers aren't great.
Who's the other guy the guardians got?
They got Seguer and the third.
Khalil Watson, infield prospect.
Don't know where he's at as far as,
is that a real prospect or rolling, looking into it.
Josh Bell has not been great for the,
Their biggest free agent signing ever
Besides
No
One year 16 and a half
It's not
Two for 32 with player
That was the biggest free agent deal ever
Not biggest ever
I think it's second to
The one they did a few years ago
But they don't do signings
Okay
Well on Corella
Going to the White Sox in the Keenan Middleton trade
Hell yeah
Okay.
That's all.
No more trickles, Jake.
Are you closing the trickle clock?
He's writing a tweet.
I'm reporting a trade.
A banger.
He's trading his fandom to the Minnesota Twins.
Cleo Watson is the Marlins number 12 prospect.
20-year-old and high-e.
We get to interview Boone tomorrow.
That's crazy.
Um.
Get to his loosely use.
I have breaking.
news.
Awesome.
Luis Urias to the Boston Red Sox from Milwaukee.
You just broke some news.
I just tweeted it, yeah.
Nice.
It's not out there anywhere but you?
I just tweeted it.
Craig Mish said something.
Not that.
Have you been working on the fucking...
Garrett Cooper's in that trade, I guess, or in that cycle.
So is that a double flip?
I don't know if it's a double flip or technically two different trades,
which makes sense why Ken Rosenthal had some words switched
because he said they get Josh Bell from Padres for Garrett Cooper.
Cooper was going to the Padres.
Bell used to be a Padre.
Wait, what happened?
Were you working on this the whole time?
We're trying to do a show here and you're Jeff passinging me on the side?
I had birdies come in at the buzzer and I finished might as well finish the trickle, you know?
Well, you know, finish that trickle.
Flick, flick, flick.
I had, in my, in my trade prediction video,
I said the Orioles were going to trade Drew Rom to the Cardinals for Monty.
They traded Drew Rom to the Cardinals for Florida, so I was close.
How rare is it to get the prospect correct and the rental wrong?
Drew Rom.
John Rom's brother.
I think that's it, man.
I think the Yankees are
loser faces.
Absolute buttheads.
Both of our teams here didn't do anything.
When they should be like
trading with each other.
Seriously, we have outfielders for you guys.
I've been looking for a left-handed outfielder.
Come to the twins.
For two years.
You could have them.
They're in St. Paul.
They're not even on the fucking roster.
I hate that I have to listen to
what Boone and Cash are about to say.
Do you have a new number seven trade now?
Or is it?
Um, yeah, I think Flaherty becomes my seventh.
Now Garrett Cooper platoons with G-Man.
Long.
That's where Cooper went.
He ended up on the Padres.
I love that platoon.
Who would the Yankees give us for freaking, I don't know,
Matt Walner, Trevor Bonner.
The Yankees faked an injury yesterday to showcase Johnny Brito,
and he got lit up.
Okay.
And that trade fell through.
You guys have a really good bullpen, right?
No.
I thought you guys have some really good bullpen people.
He's especially...
To trade?
Yes.
Yes.
Can we have some?
We could have made this trade.
No.
We'd rather be indecisive and starve.
The Yankees' front office is like, you know, a couple deciding what to eat and fighting
with each other.
The other has to make the decision.
And then it gets to be like 8.30.
And you're like, well, let's just have snacks now since we were just both so stubborn about that.
Ryan, well.
there's the piece traded for Garrett Cooper by the Padres.
Cooper loop and cheat.
All our mics just went out.
Yeah, mics are out.
See you guys.
Hello.
Step on a box or something somewhere in there.
All right.
Bye guys.
Sounded like we're out.
Does it have any right-handed hitters?
Jake sucks.
He doesn't really have that either.
Dodgers have required Ryan Yarbrough.
