Starting point is 00:00:01 Hello and welcome to talking baseball. It's the trade deadline. It's happening. Who did your team get? We're giving out later grades. Lie, but we're going to have a lot of fun. Let's talk ball. Later grades?
Starting point is 00:00:12 Later grades? I grew up in the South. We're giving out later grades. Doing out later grades. That was got me as sigh. I didn't even read the book, though. That's kind of a win. Hello and welcome to talk in baseball.
Starting point is 00:00:29 It's the trade deadline. biggest days baseball has to offer. For some of you, maybe it's the last day you're really locked into your team. For some of you, you're hoisting the World Series and your litter greeds. Jake Story Ellie, John Boy, James O'Brien, BBDs on the ones, twos, and threes. Trevor Plouf is going to be here in a second. We've decided he's our first guest. And we're going to have a lot of guests. Chris Rose is going to come through. Shelfies, Phillies, fillies, are they going to make the nuclear move? Joe's McFly, Jolly. Anyone we can, maybe a prank call to Jeff Pass and to ruin his day.
Starting point is 00:01:05 We'll see. And it's deadline season. How you doing, Jim? I'm good. I'm doing swell. I haven't, we've been, it's been a busy day. So as far as the Yankees goes. Right.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Oh, Treves here looking great. Oh, first guest. Wow. Our first guest. Our first guest. We'll call me a guest. Our first guest that will be here for the whole show is Trevor, Paul. Ploof.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Yeah, Beavers, you got to hook me up here. Give me a little smaller, bro. I'm working on. I'm working. Yeah, scoot to the back of the room. Trev, tell us where you are in detail. Oh, I don't mind. I got to hold this thing list.
Starting point is 00:01:41 I'm at City Field. I'm in auxiliary booth, too. They reserve this for me. There's a sign on the door. It says reserved 4.30 to 6 o'clock. And that's for me. I like that. I'm watching the Mets take batting practice right now.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Pete is in the cage right now. Oh. What's he singing? He actually just yelled music because they're not playing music right now. That's like that's a Pete doesn't. Pete doesn't hit without music. And if nobody does, there's no music, it's in his head. Trevor, your hair looks nice.
Starting point is 00:02:12 I don't want to hold this anymore. This is your broadcast hair. Yeah. Like we don't get that hair. Yeah. Well, check me out. Hold on. Do you do that yourself?
Starting point is 00:02:23 I do. I do, Jim. And Treb, let's get the clubhouse reaction to the Trevor Richards deal. The twins get their work done. Trevor Dick. Wait, what? Treve. Am I, I mean, did I miss a trade?
Starting point is 00:02:35 Oh, my God. As I was setting up. Your twins make the move. Trevor Richards from the Blue Jays. Really? Change up like Santana, hair like John. I literally went from the bus
Starting point is 00:02:51 straight here to set up and we made a trade. Yeah, it's the least, it's the least like, maybe the least sexy trade. And the least written a peasant. out. Like, I think, I think Rosenthal tweeted, he tweeted the twins have acquired right-handed Trevor Richards in a trade with the Blue Jays as per the athletics Ken Rosenthal and Dan Hayes.
Starting point is 00:03:09 That was tweeted. And no one's really else has followed up. Like, I don't even know if anyone responded. It was like, for what? But it happened. It's very interesting because really the twins need right now is a left-handed bullpen guy. You know, last night, Brock Stewart. He threw against the Mets and it didn't look very good. Actually, the last two stars or appearances haven't been great, but he's like working back for an injury. I don't think that's really a need for the twins.
Starting point is 00:03:40 I saw the salary, so I understand kind of it makes sense because they're really trying not to add anything on. He's probably owed only a million bucks for the rest of the year, something like that. Holds lefties to a 506 OPS, Trev. You got your lefty and a righty. That's what we talked about. Doesn't have to be a lefty that gets lefties out. Um, so okay.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Like, I'm in on that. At least they did something. Well, what you, then did you also miss Tanner Scott to the Padres? I did miss Tanner Scott to the Padres. That's a big one.
Starting point is 00:04:12 It's a big rental. One of the best reliever rentals on the market, I think. So the Padres got Jason Adam and Tanner Scott. Yeah. To put in their both. And I like that. I mean, look,
Starting point is 00:04:22 Padres are always making deals, man. And those are two of like, you know, the better arms available on the market. Who owes the package for, uh, Tanner Scott?
Starting point is 00:04:29 he was like the left-handed reliever at the deadline. So for a true rental of Tanner Scott, a reliever, which when you talk about that at this point in the season, could be, you know, 15 appearances. Bobby Smith. Bobby smells. And Brian Hoeing. Bobby Snelling, their number two prospect,
Starting point is 00:04:49 Adam Major, Graham Pauley, who's got a little run for them. So two, four, and five in like a well-regarded farm system. Wow. And James Shears. Yeah. They're two, four, and five. That's where they were ranked.
Starting point is 00:05:02 The prospect rankings, and this should is actually good to get out there now. Prospect rankings are absurd right now, and we're actually going to buck the trend because they're from before the season and all of these shuffle. So like, there's no way. Two of these guys have lost stock, one of them. Some of them have to be doing bad. You don't trade your three of your top five unless your farm system isn't awful. Or they're just not ranking.
Starting point is 00:05:28 I'm reading Tanner Scott off the market. Pitching prices are high. That's the early scouting report. Well, my worry about that is that the Angines aren't going to do anything because pitching prices are high. Sure. It's like a catch-22. Like you want your organization to go out and do things.
Starting point is 00:05:50 But it does, I mean, who knows? Is it really high? I mean, I guess if you're just talking rankings, then yes, it seems like it's high. But again, all these trades with the prospects are like, okay, maybe. Maybe it's high. Maybe it ends up being a great trade for your team. Let's churn through a little bit what's happened since we last talk. It's all brought to you by Manscape.
Starting point is 00:06:11 That's right, Trev. Take care of your downstairs and your upstairs too. The lawnmower 5.0 Ultra. They've taken grooming precision to a whole new level with their next-gen, dual, skin-safe blade. the 5.0 also has a bigger LED light. You want to see what you're doing down there. A bigger what? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Dual temperature feature, thoughtfully engineered to embrace, and, oh, flatter multiple skin tones. Join the 10 million people worldwide who have put their confidence in Manscape for all things grooming and hygiene. Head over to Manscape.com. Starting point is 00:07:00 Two free gifts, and that's 20% off with codockein at Manscape.com. A pile of relievers, Mark Lider Jr., Cubs to the Yanks, Lucas Sims, Reds to the Sox, Lucas Erseg, popular name, this. A's to the Royals. Chaffin to the Rangers from Texas, and that's obvious. Your guy shags to the Mariners. I'm trying to see if there are any other. reliever so we could kind of check that.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Yeah, the Mets just obtained Tyler Zuber. Oh. Not in my book. Well, it's from a race. You know what? Not in my book either. Okay. Yeah, I think that's all the relievers.
Starting point is 00:07:40 Do any of those jump out to you like interested? Not interested? Lucas Urstage to the Royals, I mean, they are very active. They've been active to try to bolster the bullpen. They're like the first team to make a move, bringing Hunter Harvey over. And they just continue to try to make their team better. I mean, I feel like I'm envious of the Royals in the way they treated the offseason, the way they treated this season, and because they have Bobbywood Jr. at shortstop,
Starting point is 00:08:03 obviously. But, yeah, I mean, that's a big time move right there to bring him over. That's a big move. Erseg position player turned pitcher. And Jim, I know this has been one of your topics as we talk all these trades. Erseg has, like, his full control left. He has like five years of control. So if we haven't gotten the Royals package yet, I don't think.
Starting point is 00:08:24 but seeing some of these other packages, they probably cough something up. There was another one that I saw that was full control from yesterday. Who was that? Let's see. I'm blanking. The Dodgers got, I mean,
Starting point is 00:08:39 the White Sox are getting all full control for like Vargas. White Sox trade is, and I went to the White Sox subreddit to see how they felt about it. They don't like it. It's unbelievable. Yeah. Unless the White Sox organization is great at, developing players, which I don't know if it is.
Starting point is 00:08:56 I don't think it is, but I don't think it's bad because they have had talent, but a lot of it's Cuban talent that you don't really develop as much as, well, maybe you do, I don't know. I don't know how some of them were older. What I'm saying is they got Vargas, that's five years. Say Vargas the way we love. Vagas! They got him for five years.
Starting point is 00:09:18 That's cool. That's the Mets, remember they had that dying pigeon coach? Yeah, they had the dying pigeon. Ghost interview him, the reporter. Oh, my God. Yeah, yeah. The Mets had this reporter who was from 1870, and he was asking the pitcher Vargas a question.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Vagas! That was awesome. Anyway, White Sox got two, like, teenagers. I feel like they... They did. If you're pillaging the Dodgers or the Cardinals system, you got to go get someone that, like,
Starting point is 00:09:53 the Cardinals and Dodgers system, a seasoned a little bit because their development is better than yours. Like the Yankees are not good at developing hitters. Glaber came out. He was a Cubs development guy when the Cubs were good at developing studs. So that's kind of what I'm saying. Like the raise can go get teenagers because they're going to improve them. White Sox deal is real weird.
Starting point is 00:10:14 That three-team trade is awesome for the Dodgers. It was reminiscent of like when the Brewers got Wilson Contreras, not because of he doesn't they don't have enough team control of you know uh fetti or fam like i think feddy has one more year of control at a very i think seven and a half million dollars so that's great for them but to only have to give up Tommy edmund and a prospect like seems like the cardons like yeah yeah card card whatever you guys sure that sounds great and the dodgers side they need MLB players and they get Fetty and no they got Kopeck and um but for two years for this year and next year. So yes, I like it for two of the three teams. I think the other the Dodgers and Cardinals
Starting point is 00:11:04 laughed. They had a group chat together with the White Sox and then the Dodgers GM and the Cardinals GM had a solo chat and they laughed and that's I just feel bad, but that's what happened. This is a crazy time for Chris Gets, man. And this is a guy I've known for a long time. We came up at the same time as players. And now he's running this organization. And they're in such a, I'll call it a transitional period, I guess. I mean, they are on the way down.
Starting point is 00:11:37 And he knows he's got a hit on these trades. And he actually did a good job bringing Feddy in. He was the GM that signed this dude out of Korea, gave him $15 million. And now he's got, you know, I don't. I don't want to call it a golden ticket, but that's about as golden as it gets. He made Garret Crochet a starter. Another golden ticket. And all of a sudden it's like, okay, I got to cash these in, but who's, can I actually
Starting point is 00:12:01 cash him out for gold? That's his problem right now. And you think it would be easy. You know, I think we're all sitting back here being like, oh, they'll give you anything. But he hasn't been a GM for that long, dude. Like, I'm wondering, like, how do you get practice? at trading. Like how do you get,
Starting point is 00:12:21 do you do mock trades? Like how do you get practice at the, the art of the deal, the negotiating, like all these guys have been together for so long. And they've made all these trades and they, like are, do they have chats without Chris Getson there?
Starting point is 00:12:35 Like, how is this happening? Well, when we interviewed Brian Cashman and asked him, you know, he, they just text each other gifts and shit. Like,
Starting point is 00:12:44 it is very much like your fantasy league just with more stuff going on. and why wouldn't it be? There's not like formalities. They're just texting each other. I think what it comes down to is sometimes you get what you want and it doesn't hurt for the other team to give you that and you're like, whatever.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Other GMs want to make it hurt. And I think the Cardinals and the Dodgers don't walk away from that trade. Neither of them going like, ooh, that stung, but we got what we need. I think they're both being like, cool. I think it's much easier for the Dodgers and the Cardinals.
Starting point is 00:13:18 to say they won the trade because they're getting Major League product. Chris Gets isn't looking for Major League product. He's looking for... Yeah, I know. Tickets, I guess. So, like, I think it's easy for us to dismiss. Usually it's like you get two, like, near ready guys and then two teenagers that you're flyers.
Starting point is 00:13:40 In the past, that's what packages like this have been. And, like, it's like the quantity. Like, that's what the Padres did forever. And the raise. Like, give us four to... some of them will work out. Well, that's, and that's, that was the criticism that's going on right now of the White Sox is the raise. I think the raise did their first three or four trades selling.
Starting point is 00:13:59 And they ended up with like 12 prospects. Or I think it was like 11 prospects in three trades where I think the White Sox were like body for body at one point. That it's just no one knows baseball well enough to do trades that way. Like even look, look at Boston right now. The Mooky Betts trade that they got. critiqued for, which is incredibly impossible because you're trading away mooky bets, the best piece from that deal right now is Connor Wong, who was like the last guy mentioned. So that's where you kind of, like Jimmy said, usually it's like,
Starting point is 00:14:31 all right, these are the pieces we want and these are, hey, this guy's got a big arm, this catcher's got raw power. And I think that currently for the white socks, I think that's the toughest look that, you know, Treve, we laughed on Monday's episode. I was like, the race brought in 11 guys to join us. their minor league system. And they all were in the top 30 now, something like that in their prospect, in their rankings,
Starting point is 00:14:54 which is whatever. Let's, the race sold well. Ha. I'm happy for them. Who said that? Who said that? Who said that?
Starting point is 00:15:03 The chat? I'm happy for them. They're selling. I think there was also. Due to bad performance. Since we last went, last night we got the Jorge Solair and Luke Jackson back to the Braves.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Love it. Incredible. Montas and Kukuchi, two of the big starting pitch. go and Lane Thomas. So if you guys want to cook on that, and then maybe we'll get Chris Rose on deck. Did you hear that the Montas,
Starting point is 00:15:28 David Bell, and India, India cried. And David Bell said, this is like really sad. He was a really, like, a big part. Like, Montas was a big clubhouse presence for the Reds, I guess. I didn't know that. I can see that. I think it's cool.
Starting point is 00:15:44 I like this trade because the Brewers can take pitching and improve it. We know they can. They don't, they can't, not only can they develop it from young and work on over years. They can also snap their fingers and kind of fix the guy for at least a little bit. So Montas not having a great year has potential. Has like five pitches. I'm guaranteeing the brewers are like, let's do three.
Starting point is 00:16:07 You know what they're going to do? I've already looked into this. And it's not as easy as like the snapping fingers. I think we give organizations like too much credit. Like I've been going through this, this hellhole about infield. positioning. Do the Yankees do this? I'm going to ask you this right now. We're going to get off topic of the trade real quick. So the Yankees always play infield in no matter what. I don't think so. Like run our first and second, no outs, like aggressively play infield in. That's what the twins do.
Starting point is 00:16:36 The Phillies do the same thing. That is like common, that's like common baseball positioning now is aggressively having the infield in. Double play depth is almost like gone too. Like traditional double play depth is out of the game. They're not doing it. So you have to have someone really special to turn double plays. It's going nuts. But all this is is just data points being ran over and over and over
Starting point is 00:17:02 again. So I think, like, getting back to Montas, I don't think they just like put him in a lab and say, do this, do this, do this. I think all they say is, hey, dude, your sinker's working this year and your splitter's working this year. So go throw those two pitches. I think it's as easy as that. Like, I think you have to be able to convince him to do it. And maybe you try to tweak some of the other pitches.
Starting point is 00:17:21 But the usage is, I mean, the data is right there. It's like people shouldn't be afraid of like analytics. I feel like everyone's afraid of analytics. You don't want to feel dumb. But it's like, these guys aren't that freaking smart, dude. I'm sorry. They're not. I was told.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Sivant page and say, Splitter, oh, Splitter has been working this year and the sinker's been working this year. So let's just throw that because that's how these teams think nowadays, dude. I was told recently by someone within the organization who told me, Jimmy, these teams aren't as smart as you think they are. There's some smart teams out there, but a lot of them are really dumb. Agreed. Trevor agrees.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Yeah, okay. Well, if you're the brew... But they want to make you feel dumb. Well, it's also the problem. Like, whenever we meet a player, some don't like the stats, that's fine. But I'm showing them like all the stuff that's public facing on Savant. They're like, what's that? What's that?
Starting point is 00:18:14 Now, some of them are into it. Others aren't. But a lot of teams have their stat guys who send them. the papers down. And this is what happened with the Yankees. They have their own models. Everyone's got their own models. I thought math was universal.
Starting point is 00:18:26 That's what Judge just changed last year with the Yankees. And they hired a stat guy in the dugout to receive those papers and kind of check them over from a player's point of view. I mean, like, not it. That's bullshit. Yeah, that's what the Yankees changed their system. Because Judge was like, we're just getting this info that you have and you're telling us. And it just says, we're good. Like I kept asking for help because he felt like he wasn't playing good defense.
Starting point is 00:18:51 And they're like, no, you're good per our metrics. And he's like, wait, but I'm asking for help. I've been saying that since I played with the Phillies and that's what Sam Fold's job originally was, before he was a GM was like a liaison between the analytical department and the players. I said every single organization needs to have a guy like this, Stanford educated, like myself, coming and relaying the information. Like, that's genius that they're doing that. And judge the cat, baby.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Yep. If I'm the brewers, I say, hey, Montas, your cutter, you're throwing it the third most this year. It's got a 388 batting average against and the 694 slugging against. Don't do that one. Let's just cut that one out. See what happens? Cut the cutter. Cut it out.
Starting point is 00:19:36 Okay. Honestly, Jimmy, like you're doing what the front office people do right now. You just did it. I mean, that's exactly what the Yankees do. They trade for a reliever and then they say, these are your two best pitches. don't throw anything but that. And it works most of the time, but not for the FERG
Starting point is 00:19:53 or they just trade it to the Astros. Oh, we missed a reliever there. Paul Blackburn to the Mets, I think that's a good one for them. And we brought somebody else in. Okay. Ooh. Go, go, guardians.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Ladies and gentlemen, it's Chris Rose. Welcome to talking baseball today. And Chris Rose is brought to you by hymns. Your sex life is important. Oh. And so is your busy schedule. You don't have to go to the doctor's office to get treated for your ED.

Starting point is 00:21:07 active. A more active deadline than I think we thought up into this point. We're still looking for the buzzer beaters. How you doing, Rosie? I'm great. I am great, guys. How are you?
Starting point is 00:21:19 We're all good, man. Look at this. This is a weird family portrait. It is. How are you feeling about Lane Thomas and your guards? Let's start there. Lane Thomas. Most Guardians player ever.
Starting point is 00:21:33 You know, they will maximize his potential. He's going to be more of an everyday ball player than not, but they'll still sit him against certain righties, I think. He's got a 26 game on base streak, which I believe is the longest active one in baseball. He's played his numbers overall since the middle or end of May are pretty good. He's got speed. So, yeah, he fits exactly what they were looking for, I think, without,
Starting point is 00:22:02 although they did pay kind of a hefty price, I don't think it was a huge, huge price. And then they went out and got, who doesn't need a 37-year-old guy who's got a bad hip? I mean, if there's a guy who can appreciate that, Treve? It's me. Oh. No, no.
Starting point is 00:22:18 It's me. I always knew Chris Rose of the bottom. Really? That was a joke right there, people. That was a joke. BPD, don't squeal like a little girl when he's saying shit. He flip them. I don't know how chaos that is.
Starting point is 00:22:35 I get the joke now. Yeah. I didn't get it for a long time. Yes. Now we're back. Take that. I do both. I do both.
Starting point is 00:22:43 Everyone knows I do both. You're a very giving. Yeah, you're a nice lover. Just be careful with that down there. Talking baseball. Hey. What, I guess what trade do you like the most so far from this deadline, Chris Rose?
Starting point is 00:23:00 Can I, can I, I'm not here to stir the pot. I honestly believe this. I think barring something monumental happening over the next 59 minutes, I believe the San Diego Padres are better suited to make the World Series than the Los Angeles Dodgers. Oh my gosh. Okay. Oh, baby.
Starting point is 00:23:22 All right, let's look at the Padres. Let's look at the Padres. What can we work for again? I'm just telling you. I love the moves that they've made. What did I tell you, Plufe, at the beginning of the year, about AJ Preller. What did I say about it? And what did I say?
Starting point is 00:23:38 I said, I thought that he was working for his job for the next year. You and I disagree on this. You don't think so. I do. Look at what he's done. According to Bob Nightingale, I imagine this was in between sips of something. He tweeted out that the Padres are going for it. They have sent their number three, four, six, and twenty nine ranked prospects to the Marlins in the latest deal that brought
Starting point is 00:23:59 him two pitchers. They have now traded 12 of their top 15 prospects this year for cease, arise, and now Scott and Honing. If that's not going for it, meaning that your job is on the line a little bit, I don't know what says it. I mean, Dave Dombrowski does that all the time. Is his job on the line. I think that's just called realizing you're in your window and trying to maximize whatever prospect capital you have. And the funny thing about prospects is, they have a new set of top 10 prospects now. So whoever was, you know, five, now is their number two prospect. Like, that's my take on all this. Like, you can give up your number two prospect. You might be like, hey, I don't think he really fits in this organization. And maybe he fits it better in your organization.
Starting point is 00:24:40 I applaud the Padres for doing what they're doing. I think it's been great. But I'm not, I don't think Pryther's GMing for his job or president of baseball operating for his job. I think they like what they have down there. They realize that the window that they're in. I mean, look, man, they almost made the World Series two years ago. Like, it's, it's, they have a good team. Okay. And they've added bullpen reinforcements. I have a question for you.
Starting point is 00:25:06 Out of the 26 guys on their active roster right now, how many do you think were added last offseason or right now. Like were did not play on the Padres last year out of their 26. Is this me or Rose? Open forum. I already know. You make it seem like it's a lot. I only have my Zoom page up.
Starting point is 00:25:33 I don't have my other screen so I can't sneak a little. So now you have to guess what you think I think is a lot. I know. You're kind of like doing that to me right now. I think it's half. I was going to say half. I was going to say 13. 18.
Starting point is 00:25:47 18 guys did not play a single game for the Padres in 23. And I'll tell you this. It's because Preller's wheeling and dealing. Well, they might have resigned someone that played last year, but I counted that if they signed them in free agency. We're looking at Luis Arais, David Peralta, Kyle Higachioca,
Starting point is 00:26:10 Donovan Solano, Tyler Wade, Bryce Johnson, Dylan Cis, Michael King, Randy Vasquez, Matt Wald, Trin, Tanner Scott, Jason Adam, Jeremiah Estrada, Yuki Matsui, Stephen Colic, Galepsie, Austin Davis, and Aniel de Los Santos.
Starting point is 00:26:33 It's a lot of guys. Can I hop in here for just one second? I just want to notice with the chat, not myself, says Rose always takes the opportunity to shit on the Dodgers or no reason. It's obvious why. Number one, there is no obvious. reason. And this is my opinion. I'm not taking an opportunity to shit on the Dodgers. In fact, it helps me personally if the Dodgers do well. Oh, by the way, two of these six people on the rose rotation wear Dodger blue. So it's actually beneficial. So I would like to see them do well.
Starting point is 00:27:05 What does it do for your house? Value of your house. The value of the house. Yeah, well, that's just going to keep going up regardless. Okay. Hell yeah. Go Dodgers. Big ass house he's got over there. Hold on. Matt Waldron, they didn't sign him back? What is that? Now, Rose, I don't know. I don't know. I've read all the numbers.
Starting point is 00:27:28 We're off of that one now. I changed the page. If I read a name that I didn't, I just read 19 names then. Rose, do you say this? I'm guessing you are saying this because the Dodgers are very top-heavy and the Padres are a little bit more balanced,
Starting point is 00:27:44 even though the Dodgers' top of the lineup. That's amazing. but it is very top-heavy. And the bullpen now for the Padres is a plus? Yeah. If you- Well, first of all, I think that the Dodgers,
Starting point is 00:28:02 they've got a lot of question marks with their starting rotation. There's just so many unknowns. I feel good about the Padres top three. If you include Waldron in there, Michael King has pitched very well, and nobody has pitched better than Dylan Cs over the last several weeks. So even if you,
Starting point is 00:28:19 Darvish doesn't throw another pitch this season. I feel decent about those three going in. How well, there's two ways to strengthen your rotation. Go out and get a stud or build up that bullpen and make it a five-inning game or even less on days where you don't have confidence in your starter. I just, I think that they will be the wild card team to beat barring something huge happening in the next 53 minutes. I like their bullpen ads.
Starting point is 00:28:48 I wonder if the Dodgers have so much talent. pitching that when you shrink the staff and you throw some of the other guys into the bullpen or your three starter throws, does it balance out a little bit there? Because a deep bullpen is great for the remainder of the regular season. But come postseason, it shrinks a lot because some of the starters get more run because they have more innings. So I think they're, I guess in a playoff series, that top heavy lineup can still do so much damage for the Dodgers. But you can also say that about any team Like the Diamondbacks
Starting point is 00:29:22 Made it to the World Series last year The playoffs when you get into a series Like I mean anybody can win So I don't think that's like a far I don't think anybody can win You know what I mean I think anybody can win It's not a hot take
Starting point is 00:29:35 You said it was a hot take I didn't say it was a hot take I said it was I don't think I don't think I said it was You said this takes lukewarm Didn't the Padres Bounce the Dodgers two years ago I mean they've done it already So I think that they have a great roster
Starting point is 00:29:47 that's going to be a competitive series if it comes down to it. I mean, I'm still on the Phillies to take the whole dang thing. I think they've done enough as long as everybody stays healthy. I think you have to consider them. I mean, you have to consider them the favorites going into the postseason. Maybe if the Orioles do something crazy, there they are. Phillies lost last night, though, Treve. Who were they playing, James?
Starting point is 00:30:14 They got their butt kicks. They were playing jazz chisholm. So the two teams that had to throw position players last night are probably going to be in the World Series, twins and Phillies. That's what everyone's saying. Twins. Back to the Trevor Richards deal. Chris Rose, what do you think?
Starting point is 00:30:31 Dodgers, anything else before the deadline? A starting pitcher? Well, see, I think they're wrong if they don't go out and get a Jack Flaherty at the least. At the least. Should we text Jack right now? Yeah, I would. They're games done. You're not bothering him.
Starting point is 00:30:49 I'm going to make a list right now. Okay. Who needs to be traded? Yes. From now in the next hour. Jack Flaherty? Flaherty. Like if they don't move him at sunken cost, really, like they have to, right?
Starting point is 00:31:02 Yeah. It's a ridiculous. He's going to get moved. I know, but so who else? The angels have to have rental still available. Kevin Pilar. Yeah. But I would say, you know, Tyler Anderson's really.
Starting point is 00:31:15 interesting because he's had a great, great year. I think he's making $11 or $13 million next season. Yeah. So he's in a different boat. But if they don't get what they want, he might not. The rentals have to go. Luis Garcia's had a good year for the Angels out of the pen and he's a true rental. So people always take flyers.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Right. I mean, if I'm the angels, I am just selling everything. Anything that's not tied down right now, I am getting rid of. So that is that. Man, I guess, I guess true, true rental vagabond gun for hire guys. I don't know if there's a lot more. They all gone?
Starting point is 00:31:59 What about the nationals? Trevor Williams. Dylan Floro? He can go. Joey Gallo. What about Finnegan? He's got a year left. I think they should move him now while it's like high,
Starting point is 00:32:12 but, you know, there's players. traded him in the eighth inning last night. Wow. All right. What's another team that's dumping? Miami, are they all done now? They are. Oh, guess how many players Miami have on the books for next season?
Starting point is 00:32:34 You're talking about like veteran deals? Guaranteed money. Well, I mean, they still have to pay out of a sale of Garcia's contract. Yeah, that's not on the term papers that I'm looking at. Got it. It's less than the numbers I'm holding up. Okay. It's one.
Starting point is 00:32:55 Sandy Accantara. Sandy Accanta. Everyone else is arbitration and they can just like wave them. What do you guys think about Blake Snell still being a giant in 49 minutes? Weird. Well, I don't know. Those contracts are hard to move. And people, the injury stuff lingers.
Starting point is 00:33:16 Like we heard, that's why a lot of teams were out in the offseason because they thought there was an injury looming. I don't know the, I don't know anything more about that. But those contracts are tough or eight, or when you have an hour to negotiate and then you got all those rivers and causeways, like it's hard to,
Starting point is 00:33:36 that's not a straight negotiation. On the books for the Marlins, so people don't get mad that are not no longer part of their organization. Tim Anderson, woo, suck, go. Christian Bethincourt, Bert Smith and Avicel Garcia. Our contra is the only one that's,
Starting point is 00:33:50 going to play for them. We haven't heard Birch Smith's name in quite some time. Rosie, you talk about this morning about the Giants being like a team in the middle. You have to pick a direction in this league and it seems like they kind of haven't. With the Snell deal, I mean, you think they'd really be inclined to move him. He just posted a 15 strikeout performance. So at this point in the season, he's had a couple good starts in a row now. Like this would seem to be the ideal time to move him. And it just happens to line up with the trade deadline. So you get away from, hey, if this guy gets hurt at the end of the year, he can't exercise his player option, like all those different things. Like, I think they would
Starting point is 00:34:30 want to move them unless they're saying, we still want to contend. We still want to try to go this year. And they traded Alex Cobb to you guys. And that was supposed to be, you know, another guy helping them in their rotation. So like, they keep making moves that keep them in the middle. They're not, they're not picking a direction. Look, what has Farhan's Achilles' heel been? This is a trivia question. It's not a trivia question. Jake, what has Farhan's Achilles heel been?
Starting point is 00:35:00 His good looks? Yeah, it's not quite that. I'll get back to you on it. Believing in a 2021 season that was fluky? It's not being able to sign a stud. A big guy. In the off season. So, you know what, it's a great way to maybe,
Starting point is 00:35:19 get a good like trade Blake Snell who's going to opt out anyway. So I don't know. I just think this is a missed opportunity by the Giants. BPD, they don't trade it. BBD hit the passing button. What do we have? Brian Dela Cruz is a pirate. Wow.
Starting point is 00:35:40 The fish had more to sell. I looked at, I was like, does this guy have splits here? Is he a righty or lefty masher? And he's not. He's pretty much not a platoon. guys. That's an interesting move by the pirates. I'm not really sure. I don't know. I'm happy to make you moves, but
Starting point is 00:35:56 still kind of waiting on that one big move for the pirates offensively. Just get all the cruises together. Yeah, his numbers have not been very good this year. He's interesting, though. It feels like there's more talent. A couple good games recently.
Starting point is 00:36:15 Okay. I said anything. He goes literally nothing. I said, are you just chilling at the yard? And he said, me a picture of his feet up in the clubhouse, just watching MLB Network. He's going to go get traded. Just wait and that's what he's doing. Find out where he's moving. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:36:30 Send a, send a picture to BBD so we can all see his feet. Send a few pictures to BBD. That's weird. Only, me and Jake have only bounced. Hey, it is such a weird time for these guys. He knows he's going to get traded. I mean, at least he assumes he's going to get traded. It would be the most, it'd be on the.
Starting point is 00:36:49 Trevor's story level of like confusing non-trades if he didn't go anywhere. I went to his house the other day. Flex. And he had, he, no, it's not a flex. I'm just saying he had everything packed up already. Like he's like, he is ready to go. And the crazy thing is, so I guess here, actually, let me walk that back a little bit. I don't think Detroit has to trade Jack Flaherty.
Starting point is 00:37:14 Does he have a qualifying offer attached to him? No, I have a reason why. If they'd want to keep them. A guy comes over there, he's 28 years old, has success, likes playing there. He's expressed to them, I like playing here. I would like to be part of the future here. Well, he should help it out. So, yeah, you could say that, hey, go get traded, come back, sign of the off season.
Starting point is 00:37:37 But guess what? Price tag goes up in the off season. When he's able to be a free agent. So the only thing that would keep him there. And Tigers fans, I guess you might rejoice if you hear this. news. The only thing that will keep him there is if they say we know we can work out of deal with him before the end of the season to keep him here long term. So as much as we're saying, they got to trade him. Maybe that's what the tigers are thinking. We pair him and school together. We get some of these
Starting point is 00:38:03 young guys back in the rotation. Maybe we go make a splash and free agency to bring some offense aboard and they think they're closer than anybody else because of credit for it. That would be a reason that Jack would not get moved. So we can't just sit here and say, they're idiots for not moving him. if that is in the cards. They also cannot move them because they are wrong about how much they want in return and teams aren't playing their game.
Starting point is 00:38:29 They're idiots for not moving them. I'll say it. Stryker breaks in the chat. A, $10 super chat. Thank you. That means we're sneaking up on the postseason. I forgot about the super chat times. Love the trade deadline stream. Great group of dudes. P.S. Detroit Tigers
Starting point is 00:38:44 Let's get a deal shipping out, Jack. So that's probably where Tigers fans are head too. Rosie, you know we want to cycle a few guys in. You got any parting thoughts till we see you maybe around the witching hour? I will be listening to Trevor Plouf broadcast tonight. It's a hard fight. Yeah, you know what?
Starting point is 00:39:04 Because the Guardian's already got a dub. And so that means we can solely focus and more importantly listen to you. That's a hard fight in the Rose household. As much as the boys love you, they're like, kind of watch the Guard. on the big screen with the audio. So tonight, tonight we get the dulcet tones of one Trevor Pluth. And I will say this,
Starting point is 00:39:26 at the beginning, every time on the, is it two or three tonight? It will be a three shot, or is it just you as the analyst? It's just me. Okay. On the two shot tonight,
Starting point is 00:39:35 Michelle goes, she's good looking. Oh, he's like, come on. In Detroit, they had the worst lighting. I looked horrible in Detroit. I couldn't believe it.
Starting point is 00:39:45 I was actually going back. I went back home. I need, I need some help, dude. Then I come to New York. And this dude's got the lighting dialed in. I'm like, dude, I'm back. You look great. Let that be a lesson to everybody.
Starting point is 00:39:57 So you were like a Detroit six, but a New York eight and a half? I'm still pretty hot in Detroit. Someone said, asked Jack and I if we were brothers. Wow. You're hot for visitors. Locals, they don't like your look. Yeah. You know, if.
Starting point is 00:40:14 It depends where you're at in Detroit. Yeah. Yeah. People forget Detroit is actually in Michigan. No one really does. All right. Who are we getting it in here? Where do they think it is?
Starting point is 00:40:26 I'm going to leave on that note. But where the hell do they think Detroit is? I just think Detroit is like, I mean, it's like SoCal and NorCal. Like Detroit is different than a Grand Rapids or a Lansing or something like that. Stanford, man. Trevor Plufe. I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:40:44 I figured it out. What I mean? Yeah, it makes sense, Trevor. Gentlemen, it's always fun. Because you're saying you're hot in Michigan. So clearly you're hot. Programming notes for everybody that's listening. Thank you, Jimmy.
Starting point is 00:40:55 We are not going live Wednesday morning on baseball today. We will have an episode out first thing in the morning because we're going to be taping it tonight after all the baseball action. So it'll be out first thing in the morning. So go watch it. Thank you. Thanks, Rosie. Thank you baseball today, man.

Starting point is 00:42:17 Can I give you guys a personal update? Yeah I'm starting to get worried about the Yankees Oh, okay So What's this mean? Uh-oh Oh, I agree
Starting point is 00:42:29 You're doing it with your ring finger That was cool What is that? It was this It felt different Anyway Yeah Can I tell you a quick
Starting point is 00:42:38 Jerbert 28 just donated $28 And there's no way That in the one For sure year The Yanks have Soto Cash only adds jazz and lighter Jr. Right? Because cash loves coming back saying prices were too high.
Starting point is 00:42:53 We can't do it. But Martino, who covers the Yankees and seemingly has good info with Cashman a lot of times because he wrote a whole book about him, said his quote was, The Yankees know it's not the year to be risk adverse. You have to take risks when you have this window and this many needs. So if I seem distracted. or tense, it's because it just hit me like a ton of bricks that were 20 minutes away
Starting point is 00:43:20 and there's a chance they don't go get anything and they need a lot. So just letting you know, who we bring it in? Jolly, Shelfi, Joe's. Joe's gonna just reiterate what I just said. He's freaking out too. Yeah, I don't think it's Yankee o'clock yet. Get Jolly in here.
Starting point is 00:43:35 Jolly thinks and get some Mets updates. This is how messed up the deadline is. Again, if people are just tuning in, I'm talking to Flaherty who's probably the biggest piece left or I guess Crochet is still out there and he's mentioning some teams to me and like who is saying this?
Starting point is 00:43:57 He goes, pass him. Like this is how guys find out there's nobody talking to them. He's sitting in there alone and he's watching MLB network. He's passing his tweeting stuff. He's, oh, I guess that's where my future is. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:44:12 That is crazy. Jolly Olive, popular John Boy Media personality, hair just continues to be on fleek. He joins the room. I also, I love saying this story for Chris Rose and not Michelle Rose, you know, thinking about you and flipping the channel to Twins games. I like when we started talking baseball and we were like a little overwhelmed, we're like, Chris Rose, how do you stay up to date with baseball? He's like, I watch like six games a night.
Starting point is 00:44:40 We're like, whoa, horny Chris Rose. Jolly, do we have you? Test test Hey there you are Welcome Jolly Olive of the Shea station What was that story about Chris Rose about right there He watches a lot of ball I was trying to hype him up a little bit
Starting point is 00:44:56 He does he knows ball He knows ball he knows good man Jolly how do you feel about your Mets I feel a little Luke warm is the word I'm using Because like they made a good move To replace an ineffective starter in the rotation I like Jesse Winker
Starting point is 00:45:12 As like a fan that gets me excited Dude, he looks great in the uni, by the way. And he looks like he fits, right? He does. He does. He has, like, their own celebration already. They've known each other for, like, 24 hours. But it doesn't feel like they're going to make their big move.
Starting point is 00:45:27 And part of me is, like, I like competing, but, like, damn, this team could have sold and been, like, real big winners at this deadline scene. If they're as smart as what the Rays did? I mean, if they had, like, the talent pool, too, of, like, I feel like the race are still going to win ball games in the second half. And they're just stripping everything down. you know that's the conundrum of being where the Mets got themselves kind of yeah because and this is what the Yankees in 2017 and I'm sure there's other teams that have done it that I can't bring up as easily as I can you're not supposed to win oh shit we're winning yeah oh my god we can't trade the pieces off that we're going to help us Cubs last year they got hot right before the deadline
Starting point is 00:46:06 Bellinger was the big piece they held on kind of bit them in the ass but what the well what what I'm saying is in 2017 they went all in they made a big they made a bunch of trades that helped them. They brought in Todd Frazier to play third base. They brought in Canley and Robertson to help the bullpen. And it was all one trade. And they did Sunny Gray as well. That was a big deadline for them.
Starting point is 00:46:25 Because they were like, if we're not going to sell and gain, then this can't be like a wild card and out season. We need to go in. So from that point of view, where do the Mets have to do to not make you like so upset? I mean, like there's still 40 minutes and there's always like a lot that happens. Like the thing I was referred to is like the Cesspitus deal, which is like the famous Mets trade happened at 358 or something, like two minutes before the deadline. I'm holding out hope that they can be like a suitor for like a Blake Snow. The Giants are like kind of bluffing a little bit and they actually don't want to pay the money.
Starting point is 00:46:59 They're like one of the only teams that makes sense. But I don't think they're in play for like Garrett Crochet or like Jack Flaher. I don't think they're going big for a rental because that was never the plan and it doesn't make sense for the future of the team. So if you stand pat, you're a good team, but you're very clearly missing your starter, your ace, Kodai Sango. Like that whole injury has kind of just thrown everything off for them, I think, really thrown this deadline playing out the window.
Starting point is 00:47:25 But like, you kind of have to do, you can't do nothing. You can't just be Paul Blackburn, you know. Yanks did nothing when they got to there last year, and it was a different place, but they did nothing. I mean, Winker and Blackburn is something. It's not nothing. Winker's good. He's having a great season.
Starting point is 00:47:37 Winker's been like a top 10 National League outfielder. And the storyline is awesome. And the storyline's great. Like, that is good for vibes and it's a vibes team. But you need it. I mean, Sevy is a great one right now. But, like,
Starting point is 00:47:48 he hasn't gone this deep into a season in a while. Give me something good. The Pittsburgh Pirates are finalizing a deal to acquire super utility man, Isaiah Kiner, for Lefeufa. Wow. So that and Brian Dale O'Courouz? He's going to ball out over there.
Starting point is 00:48:04 He's having a great season. That makes that line of a lot better, actually. A lot of length. Yeah. All right. So the Blue Jays. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:48:11 Do they have, since they're trading, which we've known, but now they're trading, do they have any rentals left, the Blue Jays? They traded Turner. They traded Kukuchi. I know he had years on, but like, his contract is kind of crazy too. Chad Green's a true rental. And then, I think all the funky options have been decided.
Starting point is 00:48:28 And they're shopping Bassett, but Bassett has another year after those, or another two years? I think it's another year. Another year. Okay. Wow. Treve, you're live from the Metz Stadium. So go get Basset.
Starting point is 00:48:40 And you finally got the camera. shot you've been looking for on this show. It's walking a lot of guys this here. Yeah, me bigger than everyone, yes. Jolly, I disagree with the winker trade. I think that's like almost exactly what you guys needed. You put him right behind Pete. There's like a little bit of protection. He's kind of saw it last night. And I think he really fits
Starting point is 00:48:57 to that line. I'm still happy. He was. Yeah. For a line up it was already long. It's, he's, I think he's a really good addition. And they subbed him out really early. They was a defense. Last night defensively. Yeah. Because they have like five outfielders. went and robbed my boy Ryan Jeffers.
Starting point is 00:49:14 And went two for two. Yeah, I mean, last night, everybody got a hit, John. All right. I mean, it was Oprah's show out there. All right. So what would you be more excited about? Jack Flaherty?
Starting point is 00:49:26 All of a sudden, they steal Jack Flaherty and they get him. Or Chris Bassett, who's got a year attached? That's actually a really good question. Thank you very much. Great question by Jimmy. Flaherty, I think, is the better pitcher right now, but like the Mets getting a rental anything besides like a bat kind of doesn't make sense because they need to, you know, kind of do what they did this last offseason, again,
Starting point is 00:49:50 this offseason by just making a rotation out of thin air. So if you can get guys with control. Why doesn't a rental make sense for them, Jolly? Like they didn't they didn't go under any thresholds. There's still a max threshold. And they're in a good spot because of money doesn't mean anything. And then you're taking that money off the books anyway. Why doesn't it make sense?
Starting point is 00:50:07 Well, yeah, I'm glad you brought that out because actually they're in a good spot right now with Verlander's vesting option, which they're also supposed to pay. He's been hurt, so they're probably not going to have to pay that. They don't have to worry about the tax anymore. The thing with them is that you have Sevi, who's a free agent, and is he going to get a multi-year deal, and he deserves it for sure. Kintana's going to hit free agency. Manaya has an option that he's probably going to opt out of because he's had a solid year.
Starting point is 00:50:28 So there goes your top three starters. Now the guys you have under control are Senga, Paul Blackburn, and then three question marks. So you really want to get a guy that you have control of for next year and possibly the year forward. It's like Jameson Tyone is a piece that makes sense for them. Like he said, Chris Bassett. How about Tyler Anderson?
Starting point is 00:50:45 How about Tyler Anderson? Someone like that. A guy with the second year. Flirty is the best pitcher of that group, but I think the Mets are not even entertaining it because they know they're not going to be able to sign them in the off season. Or at least they'll have to compete to. Yeah, I mean, I understand like you'd want to get someone to control
Starting point is 00:50:59 to fix some of those issues now, but that's also something you can kick down the road to the offseason. It's true. I think they could still add somebody. I had a question for the Yankee guys here because I saw someone put this on. This is a speculation trade. We're here. Nothing's really happening.
Starting point is 00:51:11 Yeah, of course. Devin Williams just came back for the brew crew. We've seen the Milwaukee Brewers trade their relievers with years of control. If they were to say, hey, give us Jason Dominguez, you can take Devin Williams. Would you guys, is that like a trade that would happen? I am so bad at like value for value. No. Dominguez for Devin.
Starting point is 00:51:33 The Yankees won it. Not that one. I'm not saying it's wrong. Doesn't he have two years of control left, too? I like your brewers. buy-s-el idea. Yeah, but I think it's more relief pitching versus switch hitting center fielder
Starting point is 00:51:44 middle of the order bat. The balance is there. Negotiations would probably start. Well, that's, no, we don't know that for sure, but that's the hope. David Williams, like, the best reliever in baseball
Starting point is 00:51:54 when he is on the field. Yeah. Devin Williams for Nestor, straight up. I mean, do you guys, honestly, do you guys, if the trade deadline ends and you guys get like Flaherty or something,
Starting point is 00:52:04 are you happy knowing that Clay Holmes is the closer for the run now? He is the closure for the run no matter what they do. I have to accept that. I ask him in that today, basically, and he just, like, he was like, they're going to be stubborn and die. I think even if they had gotten Tanner Scott, it was going to be like, yes.
Starting point is 00:52:21 If the lefties are coming up in the eighth, especially, like, it's still going to be Scott in the eighth, claim the ninth. I think they actually just believe. Holmes is the guy. Closer, Luis Heal. I don't hate it. There's that noise.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Thank you to Ryan Olson for donating. 20 bucks. Go Padres. Jake sucks. Let's get a Shelfi in here. Good Shelfi. They need to do something. Jolly's going to the game.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Just a reminder, if you pants him, you're eligible for a free t-shirt. No. Not true. By the, uh, the Co-O-Shing-Gi shirt. The boxers can't shift at all. Buy the grimace shirt. It's really good. Where are you sitting, Jolly?
Starting point is 00:52:57 Oh, one pancy. Upper deck, right field. Uh-oh, that's a pantsing area. Oh, you can get so pants there. I'm going to go find a charge. Hi. Thanks, Jolly. Remember, was that?
Starting point is 00:53:09 Oakland games that people were making love in the stands for a little bit there? It's a very romantic atmosphere there. Jolly planning. Why do you zoom in on me when you started talking about making love? J.M. Mets trip during the trade deadline. Yeah, no, that works. It's real clean.
Starting point is 00:53:26 Speaking of real clean, it's getting rotten in here. It's getting forgotten rotten in here. It's very rotten in here. Lord Shelfy of Philly's Lord. Yeah, this is almost, this is too rotten. for me. Shelf, how you doing?
Starting point is 00:53:41 I feel good. Just playing a little NCAA. You know, keeping my eyes on the hot stove. Grinding. You look good over there, Trev. Thank you. Oh, thank you very much. Me and Sam Fold have been in contact all day to do it. He wants the ploof Tomey Bowl in the World Series, Twins, Phillies, which is a very realistic scenario. Sign me up. Sign me up. Daniel in the chat, Brewers fan. DeWill cannot go. McGill just went down. We need help in the
Starting point is 00:54:08 pen and a $10. They don't care about that. Yeah, they don't care. And Robin DeHood said he asked his girlfriend to do something in the seats. In Oakland, Shelfy, the Phillies. The Phillies. We saw Sir Anthony leave. We saw Estabez come in.
Starting point is 00:54:24 Austin Hayes, obviously on the edge of that. If this is it, are we okay? Or what? And if there's one more thing, I guess what do we want? I don't think they're doing anything else. Okay. I just think the values aren't really there. Twitter's chaos.
Starting point is 00:54:39 right now with the Phillies. They're just, when you're not playing good at the deadline as a competing team, things get a little bit crazy. You know, the whole fan base wants Luis Robert. Right now, they wanted Tanner Scott before the Estevez deal. I talked to Trev about the Kevin Pilar. I thought Kevin Pillar and Estevez were going to go to Philly together. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:58 So for me, my expectation level, Austin Hayes, I kind of like a little bit more than Kevin Pilar, just because it's the upside with the bat, especially the way he hits lefties and they're going to use him as a platoon with Brandon Marsh. So I like what they did. I don't know what the reaction's going to be. It's just they're in a crazy position because they haven't had a good farm system like
Starting point is 00:55:19 they do right now in a long time. And with the price tags that we're seeing right now, if you're going to go get a Luis Robert, it's going to cost you Andy Painter. It's going to cost Andy Painter, Aiden Miller. I don't think they want to pay that toll. You know, when you signed Bryce Harbor, the window, the fan base and a lot of people are out there right now. The window is now.
Starting point is 00:55:36 Go right now. I agree. on that side. I'm with that. But it's got to be the right player too, though, right? You know, if you're going to get rid of everyone, is it an injury prone outfielder? That's the question.
Starting point is 00:55:50 That's the holdup right here. How many, if you give up the farm for Luis Robert and then he's sitting on your bench, you're in a nightmare scenario. You go, they need to go get him. It just puts you over the top where you can say, like for the next two years, years because that's kind of where
Starting point is 00:56:09 everyone has all signed up to go together. You can confidently say we have the best roster in all of baseball. You can say that without a doubt if you add Luis Roberts. So like, that's what you want. That's what Dave Dombrovsky's supposed to do. If I got the text right now, I'd be on board.
Starting point is 00:56:27 I'd be on board. What is sports for, guys? What is... Now we're talking. We're distracted. There's a distraction. We don't think about death. Yeah, kind of.
Starting point is 00:56:38 That's a great point. I guess so what's the best way to not think about? I can't sit together of sleep. To keep guys from war and murder. Deep sleep. That's not working right now. Working right now. I think the Phillies are good enough right now.
Starting point is 00:56:53 I think they're good enough right now. I think they're just playing bad at a really bad time. And it looks bad when you're a World Series caliber team, not making good moves and playing bad. They got the case of the don't cares. It's August. When September comes around the Phillies, have a winning record again.
Starting point is 00:57:10 And they've been in the playoffs a lot. They've been playing big games. And they just don't care right now. Nobody would look back and say, oh my gosh, we gave up this prospect for, you know, whatever.
Starting point is 00:57:22 They'd be saying Dave Dombrowski fucking went for it, dude. Like, that's great. What is, Tin Cup, man?
Starting point is 00:57:31 Like, no one's going to remember who won this tournament. They're going to remember the shot. Like, like, let's go. Like,
Starting point is 00:57:36 the perfect move for them. shots brick though, Kauai Leonard. And in the hypothetical scenario where you make that trade and he comes here and he doesn't play. So what? What do you?
Starting point is 00:57:48 So what? What? We're talking about speed number rebill. You got to go for it. They're going for it already, in my opinion. I think the team that they have right now can win the world series.
Starting point is 00:57:58 Of course. I picked them to win the world series. Chef. Me and you forgot. Yeah. Forever. We're in lockstep here. I'm saying there is a center fielder
Starting point is 00:58:05 available to you, a game. changing center fielder. Yeah. And what's it going to cost, bro? Everything. Some prospects. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:58:16 We're not even good ones. What is Joe's yelling about through the glass? We just heard the first Joe's yell, which might have just been out of the fact that Yankees haven't made another trade yet at 536. God, I see no news. I mean, Louis Robert. Luis Robert is not going to be expensive anyway.
Starting point is 00:58:35 I don't know about that. I think that, I think if I had to guess, that's why this trade hasn't happened. I think the White Sox are still treating Luis Robert like he is valuable at $20 million a year potentially for the next two years because he came last year. What is he, 38 home or something like that?
Starting point is 00:58:52 Yep. The Phillies are looking at Luis Robert as a potential injury prone. But the White Sox window has just been announced with their trade already that they, it's like, they're like years away. So you wouldn't care if they gave up four 19 year old prospects?
Starting point is 00:59:08 I understand your opinion that they don't need it. I am all about adding. I'm all about adding. But if we left, if we went into the second half of the season and Andrew Painter and Aden Miller were both with different franchises, I would be concerned about two years from now. Because the Phillies,
Starting point is 00:59:26 they just don't do a very good job of putting, it's been a long time since you looked at their prospects and saw numbers next to multiple guys. You don't see it. And to Treb's point, that puts them in a unique position to go out and get somebody, sure. I personally prefer Brent Rooker.
Starting point is 00:59:42 What about Eddie Tate? I think Brent Rooker fits a line of a glove, and I would rather have bad defense and left with less of an injury concern. What if the trade costs you? Eddie Tate. And Rooker would be a sneaky Phillies move. Brian Rincon and Starlin Caba. I would do that deal.
Starting point is 01:00:02 That deal I would do. I don't think that gives it done, though. That's three of their top four. White Sox don't know. that's fair. If they don't know that you can sign me up for that. We just talked about this is his first big time
Starting point is 01:00:16 trade deadline. He's his head is swimming. That's actually why he might not even think about dealing the Reese Robert or Garrett Crochet right now because he's probably like I need to get out of the pool like I'm drowning right now. Let me just wait to the off season. Let me get
Starting point is 01:00:32 some help here. Let me breathe a little bit. I can absolutely see Crochet and Lubbob staying just because of that fact where he's like, dude, this is too much. Like, I need to take a fucking break right now. Teams also thinking like cycles of three, and you have them for four years if you opt into those things. So if they're thinking that their windows are going to open back up in 2027,
Starting point is 01:00:55 Robare's part of that still. A couple super chats. John Tucker, favorite team also with Trev is the twins, and he wants you to buy the twins. Work on that. Sweet retap. Yanks got to do something else. Jake does not.
Starting point is 01:01:07 suck, hot. Is it Robert or Robert? Let's go Bucks. Nope. That was rude. And they said the Twins, a Tigers beat reporter just said the twins are in on Jack Flaherty. So I don't,
Starting point is 01:01:23 I don't know. The rumor mill is getting there. 539. Let's bring Joe's in because he's melting. He is. He's out there freaking out. He's freaked out of all the dragons that came about in this last episode. I might be talking to you in a minute.
Starting point is 01:01:36 What's that man? She started talking dragons. Oh, Bebs is behind. Me and Joe's had a 30-minute combo about dragons. Everyone. I'm watching tonight. Check out all our jam gaming stuff. A lot of shelfy.
Starting point is 01:01:53 And we're probably going to be seeing them a lot in our postseason streams. You're going to see a lot of me in the postseason. A lot of people are like it. For at least two to three rounds worth of those bad ones. Jackson Holiday is now out of a lineup. He was in the original lineup in Norfolk. They know what they're doing. They know what they're doing.
Starting point is 01:02:09 They know what they're doing. They're acquiring Oskar Brazaband from the Marlins. Okay. Nope. Dalton left his phone with me from the reason. Yeah, I saw that. That was actually powerful. The Marlins are pressing all kinds of buttons today.
Starting point is 01:02:19 Is Jackson Holiday getting traded? Your big prediction? I'm God, you guys, Jackson Holiday for Copic. Elise Robert. One. Copec's already on Dodger. Crochet.
Starting point is 01:02:31 One gamer out. And Robert. Orioles? I'm a Yankee Fairf. Ladies and gentlemen. What was your mock trade, Trev? Was it? Wasn't it crochet and...
Starting point is 01:02:42 You had crochet and Robert for Jackson. Yeah, like... Holiday for crochet. In my opinion, we just got one step closer from that happening. Went from zero out of 100 to 0.1. Holidays pulled. Before we get to Joe's Ryan Sharkey, NL Central Talk, do the Cardinals have any chance to catch Milwaukee with Fetty?
Starting point is 01:03:01 No. Plurf, which might be Trev's cousin. $5. Can someone tell me why Ken Giles is just chilling in Braves AAA in this economy? I don't know,
Starting point is 01:03:12 but that's why we have Joe's Mcfly here, ladies and gentlemen. Why did you let out a scream before? My name is Joe's McFly. I'm wearing a Yankee hat. I am wearing a Yankee hat. How you doing, Joe's? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:03:23 Any updates on your phone there? No updates. I'm looking right now to hopefully something happens. I need the Yankees to do something because this is... What are you scrolling? Just Twitter?
Starting point is 01:03:32 Yeah, that's the only place to be right now. All right. I would like the Yankees to do something. I mean, I like, I like jazz, like the jazz move. I even like the lighter move. You know, I even looked into it and looked into his numbers. And I said, okay, I can see this. But, okay, Blake, you got your, you know, your guy you could be able to turn around
Starting point is 01:03:50 and have a great season from. And get me some surefire guys, man, because this is a Soto walk year. And I don't want a prospect hug, bro. Just don't, like, do something. bro, come on. I just thought about the pain. That is, your team doesn't make any moves.
Starting point is 01:04:10 And then you check Twitter and every single person tweets pencils down at the same time thinking it's something. And then you are in two years ago, this was us. And I was in a ball of agony and pain. So do you think,
Starting point is 01:04:25 Joe's that if they trade for Jack Flaherty, that's enough? Flerty, Leiter Jr. and jazz? How is that not enough? you guys, stop being so greedy. Because we're not trying to just make the wild card. What do you mean?
Starting point is 01:04:41 What do you mean? Let me look at something right now. I took a picture. This is MLB. Put this up. They said, Needs, frontline starter,
Starting point is 01:04:49 multiple relievers, versatile infielder, and a right-handed bat. Yeah. That's what they put. They need to get a reliever. It's not even me. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:04:58 that is. That's not Joe's. Yeah. Didn't they get that? No. If they get Jack Flaherty? Well, It depends if you're considering a lighter
Starting point is 01:05:07 A high-end reliever, which I don't think he is. I think they've got to be trying to work on a trade right now that is a starter and a reliever from the same place. Yeah, and then if you don't hit on the position player, then it is what it is. At least you've got two of the three, right? But to get zero, O for three, Pop, come on, now let's buck up. Let's do something here.
Starting point is 01:05:31 20 minutes to go. 17, to be honest with you. All right. Please. Do you have an NL team, Joe's? What other teams are suffering right now? I saw Shaugh, shout to the Pirates. I saw Shay Lars donate in the chat
Starting point is 01:05:45 and Travis Reardon, Chosh Pelt to the snakes. Oh, yeah. Huge. Is that because Walker's hurt? Yeah, kind of. So that's not. I think so. And he was available for just taking his money anyway.
Starting point is 01:05:59 I'm just waiting because I already know that it's going to be Yandi Diaz to the Astros. That's probably going to happen. Everyone's doing stuff. Saddam Feeley reaction. Hold. Baltimore Orioles are finalizing a deal to acquire Eloy Jimenez from the Chicago White Sox. Now we're talking.
Starting point is 01:06:18 Now we're talking. This is a trade I want to see for a long time because Eli's, Eloy's value is messed up because he's a DH only. He's gotten hurt a lot and he hasn't performed well. He has a team option for 16-5 next year as a DH-only that hasn't been hitting a lot. But he has all the potential. I've seen it. He's got a team auction in the next two years.
Starting point is 01:06:42 Yeah. But I mean big money, especially for DH. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know if he's going to get that. But so it could just be a rental. The Orioles are having a good deadline. Am I wrong? You're right.
Starting point is 01:06:56 I'll be interested to see for how much prospect capital ends up going out for them, which for Eloy I wouldn't expect a lot. Right. I guess for me, Eflin and Rogers, I don't know how much those two factor into postseason for them, which if you're the Orioles, you need to be thinking postseason? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:13 That I just- I mean, Eflin's going to have a shot to be there. Trevor Rogers probably not, but they get them for next year, which helps them out. I still feel like they're like sneaky, like, they might try to- Efflin's been pretty good. He has a, or maybe those Rogers.
Starting point is 01:07:27 One of them had an albatross, like, that ruins his E-R-A. I think Rogers has been good lately, and he's got the years of control. I like that move. Where's flarity going? So you want flarity, it sounds like. No, I mean Boone already put his face, which could mean the other way. Could mean the other way.
Starting point is 01:07:45 But where's he going? Well, not the Orioles. Or maybe the Orioles. I thought he was going to. No, the Orioles already got two pitchers. I think they're happy with where they are. Okay. You know what I heard earlier?
Starting point is 01:08:00 This is just hearsay crap. Here's say crap from Trevor Pluth. There was a Nestor Cortez, Max Kepp. Declan discussion contingent on Yankees getting Flaherty. Okay. Well, yeah, that's what they did with two years ago. Where'd you? I would hate that move.
Starting point is 01:08:17 I love Max Kepler so much. So have Max Kepler and Jack Flaherty on the Yankees will be very, it'd be very tough for me. Max Kepler doesn't make sense for the Yankees. What's your shirt? They need Ritees. We got out of like also. And infields. I agree.
Starting point is 01:08:32 So maybe maybe the Yankees call. the twins asking for someone else. Santana. Well, yeah, but I'm... He was on the last bus today and people are like, why is Max on the last bus? Is there some trade talks? I'm like, no, dude, he just like isn't playing tonight
Starting point is 01:08:53 and probably was walking around the city. What about Carlos Santana? That makes sense if the Yankees were trying to talk. There's no way they love him too much here. They value him. I'm just saying, this is why you're not in the front office, I'm just saying if the Yankees were to the motions.
Starting point is 01:09:10 I've talked to the front office and they value him too much. If the Yankees were to call over. I've actually been in cahoots with the twins front office if you can believe that. Oh, I've been dealing. I've been wheeling it dealing for some teams. What do you want to go, baby? But I mean, you know, Treve, it's nice to have that.
Starting point is 01:09:25 But if the Yankees put Henry Lillane on the table, you're saying no. Not in my book. I hope he is one day. I'm ruined for you, Hank. I also too. Trevor looks great. Thanks, Joe's.
Starting point is 01:09:39 I told him about how we talked about dragons for like 30 minutes. Guys, me, Joe's, and Trev watched an episode of House of Dragons. Background noise only. The dialogue was off and it was just the background noise. It was... I thought it was an artistic choice. 2.30 in the morning.
Starting point is 01:09:56 Yes. And we were like, there's five minutes in. And we were like, hey, are we not? We thought that the scene was like she was in such a state of shock from seeing... It was after the war. terrible thing that like all the dialogue was muted in her head. Yes.
Starting point is 01:10:11 And then all of a sudden we were like, we're like, oh, Phillies just made a trade. Joe's? Philly just made a trade. Robert Murray. The Phillies are acquiring left-hand or Tanner banks. I'm the White So the White Sox are just doing stuff right now? Sure. They gathered all their receipts and they're just like going to the bank and deposit them one at
Starting point is 01:10:31 time. There's no way they just completed both. Good job on them for keeping them secret. Is it going to get crazy right now? Lefty reliever. I mean, my Jim said it, and there is the sucky side to it when 6 p.m. happens, and everyone's like, oh, the deals are done. And you know there's going to be three to four that leak in.
Starting point is 01:10:48 Last year we didn't get any. We got leaks last year. I think all the Yankees ones were leaks. There's always leaks. Yeah, he's did nothing last year. They did Keenan Milton and Spencer Howard. Apologize. Okay.
Starting point is 01:11:01 Apologize. Tanner Pierce Banks, huh? TPP. I'll let you guys know all about him. He is, went to Salt Lake Community College. He went to the University of Utah, born October 24th, 1991 from Riverton, Utah. Utah.
Starting point is 01:11:19 Eight games finished this year. Five home runs allowed. Does that statue on it? So tell his story. That's good. What's going on? Why are the angels not trading people? That's a great.
Starting point is 01:11:35 Angels got to trade so many more people. Is this a, just the angels become? And the Rockies? There's teams that are trading that I'm not not trading that I'm looking at like, why haven't you guys moved anybody yet? Because they can't get into the same rhythm. My God, Jen Baseball with a $10 donate. And Eric Branky, Mark Lider Jr. is good.
Starting point is 01:11:57 ERA is played by a fat few bad outings, Jim. That's good. I watched a lot of scout. I watched a lot. The splitter Jake is nasty to lefties. I just seen something on it. Joles, where have you been? You have the best game reaction channel.
Starting point is 01:12:12 Hey, thanks. From Enrique, thank you. Enrique. That's the best one I've ever watched. Hey, thanks. Appreciate you, pa. Joseph, let's kick you out for a minute.
Starting point is 01:12:22 We'll bring you back in when the Yankees make that big deal. I hope. Yeah, it'll happen, right? Do something, please? There's no shot, right? I'm going to go over there and scream a load. Jake, stop it. We have like a clock.
Starting point is 01:12:33 We can put on 10 minutes to go. No. By the way, my last ever. Professional home run in spring training was off Mark Leder Jr. Wow. What pitch? Fastball. A little sinker down.
Starting point is 01:12:44 2-1 heater, yeah. Yeah. I watch this. I watched tape on him today. All right. Scouting report. It wasn't Dunedden, so it didn't count. These final 10 minutes plus the final 10 minutes after where you get a couple
Starting point is 01:12:58 trades are brought to by the Dan Patrick Partnership. John Boy Media and I Heart Podcasts have teamed up. What do I mean? Your two favorite John Boy Media shows can be now. found over at the Dan Patrick Show. Jimmy's Three Things and Wake and Jake have joined the IHeart Podcast and Dan Patrick Show family. The best part you can still continue to enjoy them, how you do.
Starting point is 01:13:20 We're friends and family now. That's just how it works. They've honestly been super helpful to us, so we thank you, Mr. Patrick. Mr. Dan, I call him. And we couldn't do stuff like this without everyone's support. So thank you guys so much. as we enter the witching hour trademark. I'm out.
Starting point is 01:13:43 Six minutes left. No, it's nine minutes. No. More Stanford. I think the Yankees put too many irons and too many fires. Here we go. Excuse me? I just think they got too many irons and too many fires.
Starting point is 01:13:56 Then none of it works out. They always do this. Well, we'll trade you this, but first we've got to make this move. That happened last year or two years ago and they didn't do it too. And I'm worrying. I think my assessment of Chris Gets is spot on. I ask them. The Yankees have optioning Andres Gomez to AAA.
Starting point is 01:14:17 That's out. That's out. No more fake passings. I just think Chris Gets is overwhelmed right now. And I think he's going to wait until the offseason. That's, I'm serious, dude. I'm being serious. He just traded Tanner Banks to the Phillies.
Starting point is 01:14:32 Did you see, like, the full interview about... And Eloy. And Eloy to the Orioles. You missed a lot. No, I heard you guys were in my ears the entire time. That's not, those aren't, yeah. Weird. Did you see the interview when he was talking about Garrett Crochet and his agent
Starting point is 01:14:50 and how he was like, you know, hurt from that and all this stuff, whatever? No, I didn't. So he was, I mean, he's very close to Crochet, apparently, and, like, got a little too close. Like a lot of these general managers, they're not going to like, they're trying not to befriend anybody or, or they take the emotion out. Gets, I don't think has been able to do that in some regard. And again, I think that he's seen, you know,
Starting point is 01:15:16 maybe he makes these trades and reads the tea leaves on them. And he's just like, dude, I, I have these guys. They're not going anywhere. The years of control are still there. The extra half year right here, yeah, maybe it means something. Maybe it doesn't. So I at least can go into the honest season with these guys, have more time.
Starting point is 01:15:34 More people now are actually buyers. Awesome. The off season. Kenner Rosenthal says Garrett Crochet will not be traded. Thank you. How much of that? So it seems like the White Sox are done.
Starting point is 01:15:47 It seems like they just had their big conference call. We traded Eloy. We traded Banks. Was that it? Banks. Tanner? Yeah. And we're not trading Crochet Click.
Starting point is 01:16:00 I don't know how much the extension. thing, you know, shied teams away. But if you go into the offseason on Garrett Crochet, you probably add another 10 teams that are going to be calling for him. Probably shied people away a lot. And if that was... Crochet never clicked for me. Everyone was like, this is the guy to go.
Starting point is 01:16:17 But he's breaking his... He's breaking his innings limit immediately that you don't know what you're trading for. And then... So it's Paul Skeens. You don't want Paul Skeens? Everyone wants Paul Skeens. I'm not an inning's limit guy. The past three years. Gerard Crochet is a monster.
Starting point is 01:16:33 And you have him for six years. I'm just saying, dude, I'm just saying innings limit this year. It doesn't do anything for me. Like, this guy doesn't go throwable. The Yankees acquired, Daniel De Los Santos. Sure. Reliever, okay.
Starting point is 01:16:49 Oh, is he San Diego? No, San Diego. I just named him on the Padres. Okay. So damn it. Okay. All right. Aniel de Los Santos.
Starting point is 01:17:04 We got room. I'd like Luis Robert to get moved. But again, I think I think that's, I think I'm right there in Chris gets his mind right now where he just needs a breath. And I think, I think kind of what you're saying, if Luis Robert has an okay month or two,
Starting point is 01:17:20 I think his value, if anything, goes up. Like, I think both of those don't have to. Kevin Kiermeyer to the Dodgers. Then that's meant to be. Sex. His eyes are going to pop. Oh, yes. Oh, in the blue?
Starting point is 01:17:35 Oh, man. Oh, giant reaction in the room. Giant reaction in the room. Giant reaction in the room. Hold. Hold. Hold. Still holding.
Starting point is 01:17:49 Jack Flaherty to the Dodgers. Oh. Wow. Wow. Wow. They get their business done. Dodgers get it. He's going to look great in Dodger blue, too.
Starting point is 01:18:04 I have the best trade draft. episode ever. I cannot believe that you would hit the way you hit on that. Are the reporters just calling the GMs in waves and the Dodgers just did their dump? Can I get the Yankees down at some point? Eniel. Do you want to? Enel got two years of control.
Starting point is 01:18:22 So they just went out and got Mark Lider and Aniel de Los Santos, who they have for this year and the next years. So there is. Why are we talking about those stupid deals? Do you know. I'm putting a ribbon on it. Jack Flirty goes to the Dodgers. There is a ribbon on them. Bring Chris Rose back.
Starting point is 01:18:35 Jack Flaherty. To the Dodger. Man, they had to give up one of those good young arms, right? With the prices, everyone's been paying? I don't know. We got to see. I'm very, very curious to see what the package is. Jack has to be stoked.
Starting point is 01:18:51 Yarbay to Toronto, I think part of the Keirmeyer deal. Oh, not stoked. It's on the Dodgers. That's tough. Wow. That was the last probably big domino. should I try to FaceTime him Like when he gets back to me and say hey
Starting point is 01:19:08 You want to come on our show? This is a sick show bro Yeah Do whatever you want with Jack My guy Try anything My tequila buddy Oh man
Starting point is 01:19:20 Okay now The Dodgers Is Chris Rose think the Dodgers are still The Podgers are going to beat the Dodgers I mean They haven't gotten Hold on They have they said right now
Starting point is 01:19:28 I love what the Dodgers have done Because it's just so many Versatile pieces to play the hot hand. I don't think anyone they added instantly like is, okay, you're the guy and we need you to perform. Otherwise, you know, the middle of our order is not there. But they've added Edmund, they've added Rosario, they've added Keirmeyer offensively.
Starting point is 01:19:54 And they're just giving themselves so many more options for matchups, which they love doing, for hot hand. They weren't getting that much out of center field. I think their OPS is center field. was like one of the bottom five from the position. So Kiermire might help there. It's a retirement tour, and he's flashy. His eyes are going to pop.
Starting point is 01:20:13 Oh, my goodness. I have this Bob Nightingale tweet from 53 minutes ago. He says one hour remains until the trade deadline with two of the game's biggest starter still on the market. Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox and Jack Flaherty of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Like he messed up the tweet, but he got it right. Bob always knows. That's Bob Nightingale right there.
Starting point is 01:20:41 We'll get age Chris Rosen here. 558. Less than two minutes till the pencils down tweet. Dodgers. Glass now, Kershaw, Flaherty. River Ryan. River Ryan. Dana Gordon.
Starting point is 01:21:03 God, tick, tick, tick, tick. I saw a tweet that said, or from Fine Sand, that the rays were not moving Yandy DS. I know he was one of the last potential pieces in play. Yeah, I guess at this point, you're looking for a Snell bomb, Brent Rooker, C.C. comes back for the Yanks or something. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:21:30 Britain out of retirement. 30 seconds left, and then we get the flurry of little trades that happen in the moments after? Feed off of them. Let's see. Then I have to go prepare for a big league ball game, guys.
Starting point is 01:21:46 Atlanta, I mean, I guess they got that Soler and Jackson trade. Everyone thought they would do kind of one more thing. Did they announce John Peterson to the Braves. Dylan Carlson to the Braves? Dylan Carlson to the Rays.
Starting point is 01:22:02 Rays, okay. Interesting. Tap into something. Did they give them something? They had to have given some pitching. You'd like to think. Yeah, they have a bunch of outfielders, man. Dylan Carlson finally gets traded after two years of rumors.
Starting point is 01:22:27 The return for Jack Clarity was Theron Leranzo and Trey Sweeney. Trace Sweeney. Yankees' former Yanks first round pick. Great trade for the depositors. I don't know, man. They run La Rizant. Lorenzo? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:48 Is that from Game... House of Dragons? The fuck. Shon Armstrong has not seen the latest episode. Nobody spoil it for them in the chat. It wasn't a fan of the BBD. The Penult of it. Yanks weren't topping that.
Starting point is 01:23:09 Luis Garcia, angels to Red Sox. Ooh, I like that. They had some bullfair. They had some... Theron was, according to the fans. Van Grass fourth ranked for the Dodgers. ETA 2027. Yankees weren't beating that.
Starting point is 01:23:30 Their old prospect, they already traded. Kevin Kiermeier, Jack Flaherty, Tyler Glassnell, Kiki Hernandez. Just all of it, man. Ken Rosenthal reports that Jack Flaherty has been informed. He's a Dodger. By Trevor. From his tweet. From a text view.
Starting point is 01:23:53 Trevor Plouf. Oh, can you FaceTime me? Who reported that he's been aware? Can. And did Ken report the trade? He's among the everybody that reported it. He reported just 35 seconds ago that Flaredes been informed. What?
Starting point is 01:24:13 It's good. It's a good tweet. Has anyone ever tweeted that the player's been informed before? I feel like sometimes they say like players, are being informed now, I've seen in tweets. All right, I want to hit, I think Chris Rose is on his way back. I do want to hit just one more Yankee note that got discussed, and Joe's will probably be the closer today.
Starting point is 01:24:38 He's our Danielle DeLo Santos. The reason Jim's gone a little quiet, the reason there's a little less pep in our step, is what one of the first super chats was, was technically this is Soto's only years a Yankee. The Yankees are. good. They made a couple moves, but I don't know. I think there's just a big Yankee fear of this team has holes, which I know a lot of teams do, except like the Phillies, who will have a
Starting point is 01:25:10 good chance to go to the World Series, Chris Roses, Dodgers. But man, that's a, felt like there was some interesting, like Trev, you brought up Nestor. It felt like there could have been a Nester flip for some sort of asset and then you do Flaherty or something like that that, I don't know, Yankees are currently a little exposed at 603. And your ace has body fatigue. That's very interesting.
Starting point is 01:25:37 A lot of things going on there. I agree, but look, man, at the end of the day, and we say this all the time, sometimes you have to believe the front office when they say, hey, we were trying, it just didn't work out. Somebody was willing to offer more or they jump to the chance to get those guys and not our guys.
Starting point is 01:25:54 I mean, that's, it's true sometimes. Takes two to tango. You can't just say, I want that guy. Here's what we have. Take it. Like, it's, when you're going back and forth and somebody else says, you know, F it, here's, we'll give you more than what you asked for.
Starting point is 01:26:08 That's the closing deal, man. And maybe that's what you're asking Cashman to do. But I think that was a pretty dang good trade deadline right there at the end. Yeah, the Florida nuke was fun. that it came at the end. Chris Rose is going to come in. I have to go and prepare for my show. Never make any fucking moves.
Starting point is 01:26:30 Good luck, Trev. Thank you, Trevor Plouf. Everyone follow him on Instagram. Yeah, that's my favorite platform. Plouf. Do you want to break and do Yanks after Rosie? Or do we going to do it here? Yeah, we'll get, let's get.
Starting point is 01:26:43 Yeah, I'd record all you yanks after. Get Rosie for some closing thoughts. And then if we want to bring Joseph in for, for a post-talking Yanks. We'll see if there's any other trickle. There's been a minute or two now. All they did was get... They added two relievers and jazz chisholm. That's not for this year.
Starting point is 01:27:05 Right, no vagabond, no... That's just to be cheap the next two years so you can get Soto, those relievers. If those guys were rentals, they wouldn't have got them. They just got warm bodies for the next... Warm and cheap bodies for the next two seasons. You're not going to convince me. me that they went out and targeted Mark Leiter Jr. and Niel De LaSantos because of their skill
Starting point is 01:27:28 and what they can do to help the Yankees this year. They'll say that, but that's not true. They traded for two guys that they can just have really cheap next year so they can afford Soto, which is fine. Right. But they never like trade for this year. Yeah. The bullpen's a huge issue. DeLos Santos isn't even a high leverage reliever. Yeah. And I mean, I guess the only counter there to you would be how many young players become relievers. Like, you know, Delo Santos and Leiter Jr. for relievers somewhat get paid. You know, like they're in the pay cycle for veteran players.
Starting point is 01:28:09 Yeah. Yeah. Let's do a quick check off the board. Baltimore ended up doing a lot of work. I think you can have different thoughts on it. I saw a couple Baltimore people tweet in, like, Eloy doesn't seem like the fit, but there is talent in there. Boston does does some work, and they add.
Starting point is 01:28:30 Good on them. Boston excited. White Sox hard sell. Cleveland, Cleveland moves. Detroit sold. Houston ends up. They got Kukuchi. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:28:42 I guess they didn't need, I mean, they hit all year. I thought they were trying to go get a first baseman. Thought they would do a little more. Kansas City Royals did a lot of work, kind of. Who in the AL did a lot? Baltimore did. I like what Baltimore did a lot. I like what Baltimore did.
Starting point is 01:28:59 Where Texas end up landing? They added a couple relievers. Seattle kind of did some work. They did Randy. Randy and Justin Turner. And they did some relievers in, relievers out, Garcia and Shagawa.
Starting point is 01:29:17 Feels like the Ann Al did a lot more of the, besides Baltimore. Let's see. Arizona, some smaller ads. Nice reliever and puck. The Braves did their reunion tour they do every year. Cubs sold, but kind of soft so. Well, they also have it parades, which is a multi-year move.
Starting point is 01:29:38 Cubs put themselves in a blender. Red soft sell. Rockies quiet. That's insane. It's insane. They're so scared of the deadline because they don't want to, that's what they said like a couple years ago. They were like, they didn't want to get mocked for making bad trade,
Starting point is 01:29:57 so they just kept the guys. Smart. Dodgers end up having a big deadline. And speaking of the Dodgers, Chris Hot Take Rose, are you back on the Dodgers train with Jack Flaherty joining the party? As I was saying earlier, I think that the Dodgers are better equipped to make a run to the World Series than the Padres.
Starting point is 01:30:20 Very simple. Just following up on that. All I said. All I said was if something didn't get done in the next 53, and it did. Right. It got done. Right. How are we feeling, Rosie?
Starting point is 01:30:36 It's something I've been saying actually for several months now with the Dodgers that I thought it would be irresponsible on their part to not try everything they could to arm themselves. And, I mean, literally, arm themselves, because that was the big question. their starting pitching looks awesome when you put the phrase if everyone's healthy in front of it. So they can't rely on it. Like Yamamoto, he said a few weeks ago, well, I hope to be back in September. But you hear that, and immediately sirens should be going off. Clayton Kershaw just through his first outing the other night and went four innings. We think he'll be reliable.
Starting point is 01:31:18 But let's remember the three guys they trotted out there against the Arizona. your snake, Jake, last year. Lance Lynn. It was Lance Lynn in game three in a do-or-die game. Bobby Miller in game two, who is now in the minors, and Clayton Kirshaw,
Starting point is 01:31:35 who was thrown exactly four innings this year and didn't get out of one inning a season ago. Obviously led to off-season shoulder surgery. So they had to protect themselves, and this is exactly the way you do it. Okay. What else? We kind of went around.
Starting point is 01:31:51 We were hopping around the league a little bit. I think the team in the A.L that we landed on is kind of the biggest deadline in the American League was Baltimore. I mean, it's the two starting pitchers in Eloy. Do you like that from them? Do you like any of the Ailes? And Pachet and Sir Anthony. Deadline.
Starting point is 01:32:10 Why would they have traded for Eloy the menace? There's talent in there. Is there? I think so, but at a high risk. Like what he's a d h yeah So are you telling me they don't have enough guys to go dh at some point they do If anything they've got too many guys so I just don't I don't understand it That move made me scratch my head
Starting point is 01:32:36 The f one one I'm fine with um The rogers one I don't know it doesn't do much for me like this is the year Who's the oriel's d h right now is it a lefty is it just going to platoon and then have them be on the bench? Is it, uh, uh,
Starting point is 01:32:53 uh, Uh, who D. Mount Castle O'Hern, first base, DH and make someone else in there. Just, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:33:02 He doesn't do anything for me. And neither is Rogers. What does he do well? Well, what if, and I don't, I'm just proposing this. I ask him.
Starting point is 01:33:11 What if Elo is the bench, like a, like a playoff bench bat. Like people have that, like, you know, the lefty reliever in. They can drop him in.
Starting point is 01:33:18 Wouldn't be bringing this up if we weren't doing an Orioles conversation, but they just got Austin Slater from the Reds as well. Your guy. A.C. Let's see. Here's what I think. Here's where I think the miss is for Baltimore.
Starting point is 01:33:31 Nobody had the ability to do more at the deadline than the Orioles. Yeah, that's true. But no one else in the AL did. They still did the most, I think, in the AL, and they didn't give up that much. Great. That's part of the deal is that not all these guys are going to stick. Like that's the beauty of having a really deep farm system is that they're not there just to become Baltimore Orioles.
Starting point is 01:33:55 They're there to make the Orioles better by going elsewhere. And you have guys that team would love to have. I mean, you're telling me, I get at the end of the day, you have to make sure that the tigers want to say yes to dealing scubal. But there's a lot of guys that would have thrown in their face and said, here, you need everyday ballplayers. We have an abundance of them. They're not all going to play for the Baltimore Orioles. But you know what they don't have at the end of the day? A guy signed after this year who's a game one starter.
Starting point is 01:34:31 Because Corbyn Burns might be out the door. And by the way, I don't know if I feel great about who's pitching a second game this year. It's true. Not wrong there. A couple buzzer-baders. Mark Kana to the Giants, obviously. Okay. I think I saw one more.
Starting point is 01:34:54 That might have been a chat rumor. I don't know, Rosie, we're a little morose over here because we're going to record a talking Yanks in a second as we wrap this up. And we're not on cloud nine right now. I understand that. Okay, so if you were to rank the American League teams right now, since we now know what these rosters look like, Everybody said, well, it's not fair to do until July 30th.
Starting point is 01:35:22 Well, here we are. Where do you put the Yankees, guys? Rest of the year or like the wild card series, like a three-game series. And it just seems most likely to represent the American League in the World Series. Like, you like this roster the best. Where do you put them? Well, maybe in the top five, I still think. Of course, Jimmy.
Starting point is 01:35:52 Top five. They're way higher than top five. I like the three game series. Their bullpen's terrible. And they didn't add to it. And you need good bullpen. Right. So now they're hoping that Clark Schmidt,
Starting point is 01:36:03 it comes back as healthy. They're hoping Luis He'll last the whole season. They're hoping Cole gets back to form. And that Rodinor and Esther can go to the pen. Like, I don't think they have an equation where they have a playoff bullpen. There is, but it's like all, every upside hits. I cannot believe. And sorry, I would say this.
Starting point is 01:36:22 Starned Nix that they did not go get like a solid reliever or a starter to push someone into the pen. A more known quantity. In 2020, they fucking lost because they had no bullpen or starter depth. They always go into it with two starters and two relievers thinking that's enough. In 2019, they lost because the relievers at the end of the postseason were like, we needed help. That's too many innings. So they're just running back the same thing.
Starting point is 01:36:49 It's crazy. So I'm pretty down on them. Top five. Jake? I mean, it's them, Chris Rose, no offense to your guard dogs. It's them, the Orioles in Houston for me. That's fair.
Starting point is 01:37:10 That's the three I have. I mean, one team has the most talent, Baltimore. One team has the track record, Houston, and one team we really like. So I don't know. I think talent-wise, if this was a talent-wise, if this was a talent simulation, just all parts in, it's Baltimore. I think like real stones on the table, like if Houston's at the dance,
Starting point is 01:37:36 I don't want to dance with them. I've seen what happens, man. I've seen what happens. Yeah, yeah. Houston's is scariest, just especially when you get to the playoffs with their familiarity with it, their calmness with it, and their lineup stills, Altuve Brigman Alvarez. Right.
Starting point is 01:37:52 I get all that. and the three-headed bullpen monster, which really hasn't, it'll really show itself in October. That's when you shorten games, because they're going to have to start pulling back on some guys as far as innings. And I think that's part of the deal with Kukuchi. I didn't love the trade for them, but I think they're going to go to a six-man rotation. Verlander and Garcia were supposed to throw today to hitters, so we'll see where they go. but I have the same three with you guys. Here's what makes the American League really fun this year.
Starting point is 01:38:28 You can poke holes in all of the teams that are going to make it. Easily you can poke holes in them. You just talk about the Yankees deficiencies. For me, I don't know who the game two starter is in Baltimore. And I also don't, I think their bullpen's got questions. I mean, I don't think anybody's going to feel great about Craig Kimball in there in the ninth inning with a four-three lead. We know what Cleveland's deficiencies are in their lineup. their rotation. Can it get the ball to that great bullpen? Houston's down this year in terms of
Starting point is 01:38:58 starting pitching. Seattle, if it makes it there, can they hit the freaking ball? And the twins, I don't know how we're going to come for Trev. I mean, they make one move for a bullpen piece, and that was it. Like, all we heard is that they don't have the finances to go after guys. Like, this is that damn good team. That's a team I would be scared to play in October if they just added, I think, one more piece. they didn't yeah that's kind of weird twin twin's lineup has been really impressive lately very good and i'm and royce lewis is standing up right man they are that is a good lineup yeah pablo joe ryan bailey ober um all i can tell you is it's gonna be fun i can't wait maybe i'll
Starting point is 01:39:42 come up there for game one of the guardians yankee series again and get all fired up when quan takes garic cold deep and then everybody in the chat tells me to get the fuck out of here and back on the next plane to LA. Orioles acquired Gregory Soto. So another reliever. So another Philly's trade. Look at that. He's been horrible.
Starting point is 01:40:02 Just a little pipeline for them. Yeah, yesterday. Saw him last night. Last night. Chris Rose, I think it's talking Yanks time for us. Go. Go do it. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:40:17 Everyone go check out baseball today, tomorrow. Um, God, do you already have your questions written? I'm about to go right. I'm doing a lot of work today. It's been a fun work day for me. I've loved this. It's, uh, Chris Rose, I don't want to, you know, I don't want to docks you right now, so I won't give out your phone number again.
Starting point is 01:40:38 Um, but, you know, Chris Rose and I were texting last night. And I said, yeah, you know, we're figuring out the time timelines where we want to rotate everybody in. Uh, and Chris Rose said, I'll be around. I'm a loser. And that hits the core of at least everyone in this room currently, probably a couple people tuning in. Thank you, Rosie.
Starting point is 01:41:00 I didn't text that. Michelle stole my phone. Yeah. Yeah, I was going to make a joke that I wouldn't have come back from. Goodbye, boys. Have a good talking. Ooh, the trade in that trade for soda was Seth Johnson to the Phillies. He likes the warehouse.
Starting point is 01:41:18 Yeah, he's a friend of warehouse games. So he's working his way up towards us. Forgotten rotten, Seth Johnson. Can't wait to call him in the next warehouse weird event. Yes. All right. Thank you everyone for tuning in. Bye.
Starting point is 01:41:33 Bye, bye, bye. Goodbye. Go, if you want to see us get emotional, check out talking Yanks in a second. Thank you, everyone, for deadline times. If you're listening right now and you're not subscribe, subscribe. We'll be back Friday. This is the episode.
Starting point is 01:41:49 So digest. Arcana.
