Hello and welcome to talking baseball.
The season rolls on.
I saw two players blow kisses into the stands.
We've got a big episode.
Let's yuck some ball today.
Mariners sweep?
Okay.
Okay.
I don't have a ball.
I'm going to pretend that with the bat, though.
Logan Gilbert.
Me and Wiffleball yesterday on the beach.
Gone.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Yeah.
Hello and welcome to talking baseball.
I'm presenting you by Seat Geek.
The MLB season is here.
Make sure you use code Talking 2025 with our partners at Sea Geek.
My name's Jake Storelli.
That is Trevor Plouf.
Rob Chiracco is here producing his butt off.
And we are diving into ball.
Trev,
a couple of our teams, our Mariners with the big sweep.
My Rets had a big one.
And it was just, I don't know,
there's still some nasty, not baseball weather going on.
There's still some 40 and rainy, which I know the fellas.
The fellows don't love playing ball.
But also we're seeing some teams, I don't want to say separate.
It's a couple weeks in, but like, we got to talk some Padres.
Like those guys, my goodness.
The Dodgers have lost six of nine, so maybe everyone celebrates that.
But Trev, how are you?
I'm doing great.
I'm out here in Florida on a beach vacate, but still putting the work in.
I did dominate yesterday.
A little bit of kickball, a little bit of
wiffle ball down there in the beach.
I had to assert my dominance.
That's what we do.
But yes, a lot of good baseball is played.
And, you know, look, the weather,
don't talk about the weather.
Everyone's got to play in the weather, Jake.
All right.
Yeah.
You're right.
You're right.
You're right.
And I can't wait to hear your word today.
I have a good one, and I can't wait to hear yours.
Wow.
PCA.
Blown kisses.
That was to his mom.
Okay.
Yeah, that was nice.
Jeff Hoffman, a little more malice in his kiss.
A little bit.
Yeah.
We like kisses, but a mean kiss kind of like I kind of like it.
It wasn't the players that said, you can't be on our team.
Unless the team doctor was there that turned down his physical,
then that kiss is actually kind of badass.
But I don't think so.
I think that's just athletes being athletes, which is all we know.
Trev, I mentioned, let's get into the ball.
I mentioned Seek golf the rip.
in 2025 people.
10% off any tickets at Siki.
Go see your team.
I'll tell you what, New York City,
I think we're seeing a six on the thermometer today.
Needed that.
Not six degrees, but 60 something.
And it's time to go to the ballpark.
Go see your team.
Code Talking 2025.
It's Siki.
They've got tickets to everything, literally.
Concerts, whatever.
I'm going to push the baseball.
because we're here
and you're going to save yourself 10% off.
Talking 2025, whether you've used the code before,
whether you haven't, 10% off at Seekek.
Go check it out.
Trev!
Let's do some A-L, huh?
Do it pop.
And it starts with your Seattle Mariners
who busted out the broomsticks
against the Texas Rangers
and they did it with a little offense
and they did it with a big butt.
Cal, Raleigh, big dumper.
Three straight games with a home run.
Torpedo bats came in, pop.
He's swinging one.
It went well for him.
Also, they got five innings, one earn run out of each starter.
That's more Mariners baseball.
Bryce Miller, Ryan Woo-woo, and Logan Gilbert.
Help get it done for them.
Man, Jacob de Grom gets clipped a couple times in that first game.
Jack Peter.
really struggling for Texas.
That's none of the Mariners business
as Andre Munoz slams the door
in impressive fashion.
Mariners, back on track.
The Braves are not.
The Rays take two out of three
and something feels off, man.
I texted Peter Moylan.
I don't know.
It just feels clunky with the Braves right now.
It all became an accumulation on that
on the rubber match.
Chris Sale gets knocked around early.
Braves lose that game, 8-3. Joe Boyle, a lot of arm talent there.
He looked really good for the raise.
And they got it done. Christopher Morel kind of has his raise breakout that they've been waiting to see.
And anything from their catchers position.
Danny Jansen, Danny Jansen chips in as Junior Camerro gets a couple big flies going.
Rays take two out of three in Tampa.
Giants take two out of three in New York.
The Yankees embarrass themselves.
The first game, asking to please cancel the game via rain,
because we're out of bullpen and we're out of option.
Not your father's Yankees.
They bounce back, they win that second game.
Will Warren.
Ben Rice is doing some.
Go look at that baseball, Savon.
Blood red, as Trev would say.
But Junghuli doesn't give a fuck about it, Ben Rice.
The hooligans were going nuts.
Two home or day.
He had a massive weekend.
Three-run homer off Rodon gives the Giants the series.
They are just winning ball games.
I think they're 10 out of 13, something like that.
Go Giants, go.
The Laundry Bowl.
Red Sox versus the White Sox.
And the White Sox, get her done?
What?
They roll them in game one.
Davis Martin with a nice start.
White Sox put up 11.
And then Dick Fitz versus Martine Perez.
Luis Robert gets his first home.
run of the season. Brooks Baldwin with the pinch hit after another great Louise Robert at bat,
crochet, and our guy Trevor's story come in salvage the series. Not what the socks, what the red
socks are looking for when they were playing the white socks, but they salvage it somewhat. Hey,
go white socks, go. They called up a kid who walks a lot in the minor leagues. Chase Medroff. Get
excited for that. Royals guard dogs. Guardians take two out of three.
Shut him out in game one.
And Arias and Martinez
kind of go nuts in this series.
Here comes your next wave of Guardians baseball, babe.
Carl Riggins, God, he's good.
7.2-1 earn run on that final day.
A little comeback by the Royals
to not get swept by their division rivals.
Speaking of division rivals,
your angels, Trev.
They lose two out of three from the Astros.
You're going to hear some Esauk Peretti's coming up.
because he's fine in the Crawford boxes.
That's why they brought him in.
That's what he does.
What a play by Jake Myers in the Gap.
And Hayden was Nesky.
Circle him.
He was another body in that Kyle Tucker trade.
Might be more than a body.
Six innings.
Zero walks.
10Ks.
Kyron Paris still getting it done for the Halo.
Same with that trout guy.
But Astros.
They win two out of three.
Twins Tigers, Trev.
Twins lose again.
Tigers, take two out of three.
Spencer Torkelson is on another planet right now,
where he is putting baseballs in stadiums.
It's not a place baseballs often go in stadiums.
Also, Jackson Job, six shut-piece.
I know you've hit a couple home runs there, Trev.
Hey, Mets win two out of three from the Oakland Athletics.
The Mets pitching, I don't know how much we're going to talk about it
if we need to keep talking about it,
but they hold the A's to one run in those final two games.
And Pete Alonzo, Trev, your RBI bet.
Watch out, because all he's doing is driving in runs when Lindor hits the team wins.
Kodi Senga, how's your ghost for seven shutpiece?
And the final series only ended up being two games because of rain out.
Orioles, Blue Jays, the return of Anthony Sondheim.
Orioles, they win game one.
Cedric Mullins with a couple big moments in this series.
But the Blue Jays come back.
They rally, take them down in extras.
Like we talked, Jeff Hoffman, blowing kisses.
It was a juicy AL today.
That's what happened.
Great job.
Pop, Jacob Wilson out there.
Let's go, man.
Yeah.
He had a 16-game hitting streak.
Ended in the last game there in that series.
Do you want the standings?
Over.
Every time.
Okay.
In the east, Pop.
Toronto is number one.
Nine and seven a half games up on the Yankees
were 8 and 7. Boston still sitting under 500 at 8 and 9. Same with the Tampa Bay
raised at 7 and 8 and Baltimore. Your favorite number, 69, 6 and 9 for Baltimore. In the central,
those tigers are on top. Yes, they took 2 or 3 for my twins. It was not a good weekend.
9 and 6 for them. Cleveland sit at 8 and 7, Kansas City at 8 and 8 and 8. And then the twins
in the white socks on the bottom. Twins 5 and 11 white socks, 4 and 11. What is you doing, baby?
out west everybody saw this coming although houston takes the series the angels are still in first place at nine and six right behind them the rangers nine and seven eight and eight for the mariners houston seven and then those are six in ten so very tightly contested out west jake and those are the standings in the american league beauty per usual it's great to see your wife olivia this morning she popped in the zoom what'd she say
She said I had great skin, so I don't know.
Could mean anything.
Trev, the Seattle Mariners swept the Texas Rangers.
The Texas Rangers are a team we've given a lot of love to,
and here it comes this year, the young guys, DeGroms back.
Game one of a series, and I will say,
getting back into the flow of baseball season,
it's so good to feel a series.
Like the over three games, what can happen in the momentum swings
and what can make a good weekend and a bad weekend?
one pitch, Ask Carlos Rodon.
Eighth inning, game one of the series.
Cal Raleigh goes big fly, two-run Homer.
He was all over this series with literally a home run in each one.
But this is the Mariners dream.
This is what we think can happen.
If they're going to get this starting pitching effort,
which just becomes boring,
they just need a little bit of offense,
and they actually got a lot of bit of offense in these first two games.
Yeah, exactly. This is the recipe for success.
You know, have dominant pitching, have guys come up, clutch.
We're going to talk more about Cal later in the show.
Jorge Polanco still going off.
He gets the homer off to Grom game one.
But yeah, this is, you know, Julio had a big hit in this series.
Like this is what they expect.
Again, I'm going to talk a ton more later on the Mariners and Cal.
But to have your division rival come up and to sweep them in front of the home crowd.
like this is this is what we're like i don't say this is what we've been waiting for because it is a three
game set but this is what this team can be jake they can be this freaking team that goes out and
sweeps the rangers by the right by the way the rangers are good like this isn't some like hey we
swept the you know whoever the white socks or the twins no offense to those or maybe maybe a lot
of offense to those two teams yeah but this is a good team that comes in and you take care of business
at home uh for the mariners you got to love that
Yeah, hey, Mariners, you get back up to 500, like you're having a slow start,
and then all of a sudden you're not, which is the beauty of April 14th baseball.
Yeah, and they're starting pitching also, you know, I was talking about how a series can swing.
They're starting pitching.
Each first inning was a struggle.
Bryce Miller with 30 pitches in the first, Wu with 27, Gilbert with 26.
So that first inning, when you kind of, that might be your best time to get a starting pitcher sometimes.
time. Ben, but don't break. They all put in very good starts after that. And this is what it should
look like. And Andres Munoz, man. That a, Senor smoke. Yeah. Kick change. Bullpen was great.
And then, you know, collectively over the last two series, you're five and one against two division
rivals in Houston and Texas. So, I mean, maybe, maybe Texas needs to step it up with their
teams. Don't come up to the Pacific Northwest. Yeah. Hell, yes.
Everyone in Texas is like, we got it.
Yeah, we're good.
We'll go up there whenever we want.
People in Texas are.
They're insane.
But in a good way, I do like Texas.
Hey, we need them.
If you're a Mariners fan, yeah, I think what you said,
five and one against division rivals,
that's, if you're getting off to a slow start or a hot start,
it is what it is.
But having those in your back pocket,
those can carry through the year.
Go Mariners go.
We want a route for you.
Give us more weekends like this.
And we will.
And we will.
Rays Braves, Trev.
A little thin for me.
Actually, no.
Go race.
Taj Bradley with a big start.
Like I mentioned,
Caminero looked really good.
And Chris Morel, man,
this was a guy I used to talk about a lot.
When he went over to Tampa,
the light bulb didn't go on.
And, again, it could be a bad 40 games.
I really liked him and Jose Siri,
just like baseball and sex epitomized
on the field. He has
kind of his breakout game
with the Ray's Homer, couple stolen
bases, looked better in this series.
Yeah, Ray's going to raise. It always
feels lazy when we do that. On the other side
for me, Braves' concern is getting actually real.
The offense
just hasn't come along, Jake.
And when you have a game, like
game one, I first, the first thought
about this series as I was getting into it
and watching some ball was the City
connects for Tampa don't really match up playing in Steinbrenner.
Okay.
Doesn't doesn't look right.
But yeah, the, that's, I'm getting the OPS up right now for the team hitting right now.
And the Braves are 21st in baseball.
And that's just not their game, Jake, especially right now when they're waiting on pitching.
And, you know, have some guys injured.
Like, they have to bang the ball around the park.
And they're just not doing it.
So, you know, that's my first takeaway.
but yeah, Danny Jansen came into the game like one for the game one for 29 or something like that.
He ends up getting three hits.
He hits the Homer.
And so a good start for them.
And then they win the rubber match, eight to three to three.
Like you said, three runs shots just get out.
They got out ahead.
But the Braves, if you're not scoring runs, you don't really have a chance, especially in that ballpark.
You'd expect them to go in and do some things.
So I guess credit to, you know, Tampa's pitching.
But also the Braves just got off to an incredibly slow start offensively.
Braves are one in nine on the road.
That middle game, the 5-4 win,
their only road win of the season.
So that's a little alarming.
And yeah, I mean,
people are talking about Chris Sale
and some of the mechanics look off
and some of the arm angle.
The arm angle's different, yep, yep.
Starting off that game by getting tattered by Yandi Diaz.
Put it by Braves fans.
You're in the same boat as the twins and the white socks.
Right.
I like that you're including the twins when you
I have to do
I have to and I'm probably going to get fired for my job as a broadcaster
but they're they're making you know it's just it's tough right now man
like I really expect a lot of let's not talk of the twins
comment comment below fire coach trev
well I have good news for you
because we get to talk about the Yankees
and again more so it should probably be about the giants
because the giants have one of the best records in baseball
right now. It was fun to see them live. And what I told you, when they became one of my dirty
little secret teams, I was just looking at their MLB pitchers that didn't make the team. We had
guys in AAA. Know who had a huge moment in this series, a guy I've made a lot of jokes about,
Hayden Show Me Your Bird Song. He's pitching out a bullpen for them. He gave them two innings
of just wipe out filth, of just you're not going to hit this. The star of the weekend was
Jung Hu Lee, who the hype train has kind of left the station.
And I said Matt Chapman has to be there.
MVP votes guy, like how good does your best player need to be?
It could be this dude.
He's nasty, man.
228 OPS plus right now.
He's slugging 704, 1, dotting it.
Yeah, you saw the two homers, both off lefties right there.
Beautiful.
And the thing with this Giants team, Jake, is they really haven't.
Or the guys you'd expect to click offensive?
really haven't been there. I mean,
Chapman's got a 687 OPS,
Willie Domus, a 506 OPS,
Lamont Wade Jr. 479.
It's guys like Lee has stepped up.
Mikey Stremsi has stepped up. And then
Wilmore Flores, don't count him out.
Leads the big leagues with six homers.
19 runs driven in already.
I mean,
when this team, like,
collectively gets it going offensively,
like,
we talked about them a lot in the offseason,
about how they have the right mixture there.
We like the roster a lot.
What can, like, can, we thought it was going to be, is Elliott and Fitzgerro?
Are they going to step up and be guys because if that happened, then look out.
But then here come, you Stremsky and Flores.
And that's just, it's a perfect recipe.
They don't, they play like very sound baseball.
They play great defensively.
Their pitches are going to keep them in games and they're getting big hits.
And again, some of these guys haven't even clicked yet, Jig.
So to go into the Bronx.
I know they just crushed Roman in that first.
game. But to go into the Bronx and take two out of three, man,
and like you said, that weather was tough too.
They didn't seem to care about it at all.
The Giants team is very, very impressive right now.
No, and this, again,
an embarrassing performance by the Yankees on Friday night,
which is not the Giants problem.
But yeah, and I could easily be banging the table
saying the Yankees won two out of three after that embarrassment,
but I'm not. And most of that's Jung Huli,
who had an amazing weekend.
and Rodon keeps having one bad pitch, a couple bad pitches that ruins his start.
Yeah, and the Giants.
Shout out Randy.
Shout out Randy Rodriguez of the Giants, by the way.
I'm going through the stats right now.
Seven and a third innings pitch.
12Ks, no walks on the year, Jake.
I don't understand this.
This is why I caught my eye.
He's got a negative FIP.
What does that mean?
He's got a negative.
0.27. What does that mean?
Illegal. I don't know what that means. I don't know. That's always
Sometimes the stats end up in a funky spot. I don't know what to do with that.
I just know they're like I'm excited to talk Padres in a little bit and they're maybe
the team around baseball that should be talked about the most. Maybe the team behind them is
the Giants which brings in the whole NL West.
NL dominance right now.
It's crazy that the D-backs, the Dodgers, all those teams being in one division.
Wow.
Red Sox, White Sox.
Like I said, White Sox take two out of three.
Head turn.
This Red Sox season, it's funny, you know, there's a lot of Red Sox Yankees stuff on my Twitter timeline.
And Friday night, it looked like it was going to be a meltdown as White Sox won 11 to one.
Yanks lost of the Giants 9 to 1 in five and a half innings.
And then here's what I'll say.
The White Sox, it's cool to see.
And I think we saw this with the A's in the past couple years.
I don't know where their final season's going to end.
It's probably not going to be pretty.
The product has taken a step up.
I feel like a lot of the young guys I'm seeing take the mound have actual stuff.
Davis Martin in the game.
Shane Smith with a good start on the final day.
Yeah, they're not going to be, well, let's see how the season plays off.
They're currently not the pushover white socks.
And if you're the Red Sox, this has to sting a little bit
because, hey, your defense continues to be awful.
The errors are insane.
And you're just trying to get that winning stretch going.
And Boston hasn't really found that yet.
Yeah, I'm glad you gave some love to the Sox.
I mean, they put it on.
Well, I guess there's two socks.
I'm glad you gave love to the White Sox
because they put it on the Red Sox.
Like you said, that first game,
there was four innings of crooked numbers for them.
And every starter had a hit besides Vaughn.
So that's like a great offensive day.
And then you go into that second game.
Luis Robert ties it up, ties it 2-2,
and then Brooks Baldwin comes in off the bench,
pinch it, walk off against Chapman.
So that feels good.
And then the Red Sox, you know, to salvage,
it's great when you have a guy like Garrett Crochet that can do it.
I thought it was cool.
It's Chase Midroth.
That's how you pronounce it.
And he was in the trade for Garrett Crochet.
He ends up being the guy that breaks up the no-no,
one-two pitch,
that kind of down the little slider just kind of shoots it in the six hole.
But you're right about the White Sox.
It looks better, but still, I mean, what are they?
They're three and 11.
Right.
So it's still going to be tough.
Congratulations on the series win.
I mean, you deserve to be talked about.
But I think my thought process here is Boston just hasn't come into form yet.
Like, it's been sloppy at times.
They've had offensive outbursts at times.
But overall, the product for them has been.
inconsistent at best.
Yeah, and man, we got really excited about their defense
because on paper, you know, we showed the Raphaelah
highlight last episode.
It's like, what can't that guy do when he's right?
Bregman at third, like Trevor's story being back,
we built this narrative of the Red Sox defense.
Yeah, I'm interested to see because it comes down
to just doing it.
And right now in defense, they are not.
What do you do?
I'm actually looking at it.
I'm curious to see if there are numbers on on everybody right now.
I mean, you just have to,
there's nothing you can do during the season to improve it.
I mean,
I get guys out there and work early,
but it's more of like a focus thing,
I guess.
Because they don't really have people playing out of position there.
Like they have,
like they're playing where they're supposed to be playing.
So it could just be a week's worth of games,
whatever it may be.
But I believe long run,
they're going to be fine in that area.
A series I got a little jealous of this weekend,
because my Yankees have been playing a lot of National League teams,
which is, it's fine.
But it's just like, you know, these series in the long run of the season,
I don't know what it's going to necessarily mean.
Royals and Guardians teed it up.
These are two teams that want to win the AL Central.
And the guard dogs did it in guard dog fashion the first two games.
There was a costly Jonathan Indierre that I think Robbie has queued up
that ends up leading.
to a home run,
which that's got to be one of the worst feelings
on a baseball field,
potential double play ball,
throws it off the bag,
home run comes after that.
Everything I talked about in that first series
with the Mariners, how quickly a weekend can turn?
And you see Arias there,
he finds that right center field wind tunnel.
Trev, this is your central.
What's this mean?
Well, I mean, I actually enjoy watching these two teams,
but India had another air on a pop-up over the mound that he also zood.
So it's kind of uncharacteristic for the royals on that end as well.
But yeah, it was just a great series for Cleveland.
I mean, Arias goes, Oppoh Homer back-to-back games did it in the first, did in the second game.
A guy like Anhele Martinez, he comes up with insurance runs in the eighth in that second game.
And they needed it because Class A comes in and gives up some runs.
Like, that's what Cleveland does is they just have guys step up, different guys from time to time.
Um, but, you know, Royals win that last game, 42.
Michael Garcia had the big two RBI knock against, um, was it the fifth off by guy lively.
So, so good baseball.
Um, I think that's going to, you know, this is what the central is going to be,
whether the twins are involved in it or not, it's going to be the royals, the tigers and
the, the guardians battling it out for that, for whatever playoff spot they have.
And I guess something I'll be tracking, uh, with the guardians.
are these young guys
because we know this is their lifeblood
and Arias with a big weekend
he's 25 years old.
Martinez is 23.
I mean a switch hitting outfielder
we've just seen.
Don't look at Claisse's stats right now.
That's alarming to me with the Guardians
because obviously what they did last year
with their pen and he was a huge part of it.
I mean they won a lot of games
because they knew they had that pen.
They could rely on, get it to them,
get the job.
It hasn't been that way so far,
especially what Claisse said.
base runners hits everything for him this year it just hasn't looked right and i still like
don't really understand uh how he's not like a strikeout guy the stuff is there but it's just
it's too over the plate right now he's walking guys putting bass runners on getting himself in trouble
um and just it's just been a really rough start to the to the year i'm curious what they do
like he ends up staying in that closer roll maybe they you know do the thing where they take him off
and put them in a little lower leverage situations.
I'd be curious to see how that goes with voter.
Yeah, I still have it as glass half full
because the rest of the bullpen is pretty much doing their thing.
Again, they're doing their job.
That's what I'm saying.
Matt is, Aaron.
Yeah, I've got that as like, I don't really have to worry about that guy.
But we'll see.
We'll see.
It's definitely, it's entering an interesting area.
Shout out Cole Reagan,
Second Royal in franchise history, 10 plus strikeouts and three consecutive starts, joins Kevin Apier.
Wow, Rock and Fire.
Kevin Apier, shout out, okay.
Rock and fire. Remember that.
Trev, your Astros and your Angels rivalry game for you.
Astros take two out of three at home.
Like you said, Halo's still on top of the division.
It took a pretty special Tyler Anderson outing in that middle game to get the win.
And outside of that, we saw Houston's formula.
Like maybe it's Formula Week, Formula Un.
Paredes, Yiner Diaz, hunting out those left field box seats along with, you know,
we questioned Jake Myers in the outfield.
He made a couple crazy catches this weekend, along with Hayden West Nesky,
and Cam Smith is playing for these guys.
Your guy, like, we're seeing, we got excited about the Kyle Tucker side.
got nervous about this side, this weekend was a good sampling.
Well, I had this circle as like my favorite series to watch just because of what the
Angels had done.
Four straight series win.
Now you go into Houston.
Like, is there some sort of changing of the guard?
I know it's very early on in the season.
I don't want to get too excited.
You really like the angels.
I'm just saying, like it doesn't have to be like they made it to the top of the hill.
But like, are they, is the trajectory going upward for the angels right now in that division?
It is a tough division.
I mean, the Rangers are very good.
the Mariners are very good. Houston's been there and done that. But, you know, the Astros, we know have, you know, they gave, give it away players. Some really good players. They move Jose Altubito to left field. It just looks like a different team. But in the end, Houston, he does what they do, man. And that first game, Yiner hits the Grand Slam. They'd only, before that had only one hit with the bases loaded all season, Jake. So he kind of opens the game up. There's a three two game, becomes seven two. And then, yeah, you're right in the middle of game, Tyler Anderson does this thing. But then Peratus, three straight games.
games of the homer gives an elite off hendricks they hold it after that like it's
Houston can be very good um but again i think it's it's um i need to see more out of them man
for them to actually be there at the end it hasn't looked hasn't looked great in the early
goings for houston no but i think paredes is so important for them and that the spray chart
we've talked about a lot like he pulls the ball it's working he's he's one of you know there's a
handful of players that have accumulated one war, and Esauk Paredes is one of them.
And so is Kyle Tucker, ironically.
But they also got Cam Smith and Wesneseke.
That Astros look good.
Astros look good.
Trev, a couple ones to wrap up.
Jay's Orioles, again, they ended up playing two, some good action there.
The Mets pitching, I feel like, is a big storyline of this season,
because we know the lineup's going to come through in some way.
And then here's just a couple notes on my page, Trev.
The Minnesota Twins are 17 and 38 since last year's collapse it's listed as.
And then I don't know where Dalton got this one.
He said they're playing at roughly a 50-win pace for a full season.
It's not good right now.
Not good at all.
Do you want to go into that series?
I don't think we really need to.
Shout out of Detroit.
You mentioned Torkelson continues to be hot.
The Tigers team is interesting to me because they're getting production out of Torkelson.
They're getting production or production out of Glabert Torres.
And if you look at Javi Baez, what he's doing.
Like he's hitting again.
I think he's hitting over 300 right now.
Like, okay.
Like that's, I mean, with the way they throw the ball right now, that bullpen,
they got four legitimate starters there.
The tigers are a scary team.
And they're by far a better team of the twins right now.
Like I'm, I'm, you can hear in my voice like what's going on there.
And look, have I been on?
shitty twins teams yes so like i'm i've been there i understand what it feels like but it just
they they they got to figure something now i know brooks lee came back
Jose miranda got sent down i don't know if you saw that play he ends up sliding the second
base he was safe because there wasn't they didn't they wouldn't step on the base um i think
robby's going to pull it up right here they call him safe but he doesn't see it even though he's
looking right at the empire starts going back to the dug out they end up tagging him out he was
struggling at the plate, they end up sending him down for Brooks Lee after this game.
And, you know, he's a guy they expected to really produce. But it's been, it's been really bad for
the twins. Six sports sometimes. Jose Miranda, the longest hit streak ever, or at bat streak.
I do want to just briefly touch on the Blue Jays Baltimore series. Go, go Mets. The A's are really
fun to watch, too. I want to point that out. Like, even the game they lost, putting up a couple runs
off Diaz or at least putting traffic on the bases against him before he gets
Jacob Wilson to ground out.
It was awesome to see.
But the Blue Jays Baltimore series, I think, could have been great if they had a third game.
San Tandere, he goes back to Baltimore, hits a homer for his first time with the Blue Jays.
That was awesome to see.
And then you get Kirstad and Adley, get the game tied.
Then Mullen's his the triple.
That's awesome for Baltimore right there.
And then you mentioned the Blue Jays.
a big comeback win.
It was six to three.
They ended winning seven to six.
The bullpen goes five innings pitch.
What?
Three base runners total.
Hoffman goes two innings,
four K's,
and then he does blow the kiss to the other.
I think it was to the other dog.
Maybe his family was in the stands.
You don't know.
Yeah,
I don't think it was.
Okay.
Maybe it was to the other day.
Oh,
he did talk about it after.
I didn't see that.
Both these teams have a little bit of piss and vinegar.
Just like,
I don't know,
it's just athlete.
I think you just need to, you need that part of your head being like, screw those guys.
He's been, he's been absolutely great for them too.
Adley Homer was sick, 2-0 pitch.
Just absolutely turned on one.
Trev, it was a jam-packed AL, which means it's a little bit of a lighter NL, but I'm excited to do it.
Let's get into it right now.
You know I'm starting off with my Rockies.
Who got swept by the Padres and sheds?
shut out the entire weekend.
Haven't seen that since 2017.
Full pension Piv.
Been hyping him up.
Seven shut.
Kyle Hart.
Okay, pal.
Six innings shut of his own.
And then my king,
my king,
nine innings,
two hits,
zero earn runs.
That dude is about to get paid,
paid,
was.
And that's all around.
Jose Anglacy is showing up.
Fernando.
We're going to talk some Padres in a second.
team in baseball. D-backs take two out of three after Kintana wins, which was big because he beat
every major league team puts him in some rare air, seven-in-ning shutout. D-backs come back and they
come back in a big way in that final game. Josh Naler with the big hit. Corbin Carroll's playing out
of his dome. How do you like Freddie Peralta and Zach Gallant on a little Sunday rubber match?
Debacks win the set. The Cincinnati Reds. Sweep the Pirates. You know I'm in
into all of that, and I'm so into Hunter Green right now. It has happened. Seven innings pitch,
zero earn runs, his third straight start of seven innings. Ellie De La Cruz, how's your grand slam
on Bobblehead Day? That's what the people want, Trev. They're there for him. He's there for them.
And my pirates, yikes. Not an exciting weekend. Brady Singer, getting run support from the Reds.
That's always a fun thing that happens.
30 runs in his three starts.
So just do that, and that'll be good.
More on Hunter Green later.
Phillies and Cardinals, Cardinals take two out of three.
This Cardinals offense has a little juice to it.
And so does Archie Andre Payante.
Seven innings shut out in that first game.
Chris Sanchez keeps growing and wins the middle one.
But St. Louis, they win the series.
Liberatore six-shot piece.
Wilson Contrera is starting to hit.
He hadn't been there for him.
He's starting to go.
Cardinals, enjoying baseball this year, which feels different.
And the Marlins, take two out of three from the Nationals.
The Sandy Trade Watch continues, although not his best start.
Griffin Conine with a couple two-hit games.
And how about never-nervis Matt Mervis with a couple home runs?
Look for his name on the home run leaderboard.
Enjoy it, kid.
And closing it up, our best way.
Western Road Warriors, it's time for Road Warriors brought to you by Best Western Hotels and Resorts.
Life's a trip, make the best out of it.
And that's what the Chicago Cubs did, baby.
They went in to L.A.
We don't care about your stinking Dodgers.
They give them their worst loss in franchise history at home.
16 to nothing in game two.
Ben Brown on the mound, some rhymes there.
Carson Kelly's playing out of his don't.
Two-homer game.
How about Pete Crowe Armstrong with a two-homer game in front of the family?
A nice kiss.
A nice kiss from the weekend.
The Cubbies get their redemption from opening day across the big pond.
They get it done.
Michael Bush redemption game.
Justin Turner.
That's what happened.
Cubs take two out of three from the Dodgers.
Great job, Jake, boy.
Yeah.
You see it with a very nice kiss to his mom.
Beautiful.
How can you not like that?
Do you like blow kisses to your mom?
I don't know unless I blew a kiss to my mom was.
Yeah, I guess not a lot of opportunity for that.
Just do it next time you see your mom.
I used to, you know, my soccer playing days, I'd usually play in the fall.
And I, if there was a game on mom's birthday, I was scoring.
Yes, you were.
And I was scoring, and I usually would.
So good for me.
Do you have some standings?
I do in the NL.
start out east where the Mets
who I have missing the playoffs.
Don't know about that, Trevor. Or 10 and 5
atop the division, one game above the Phillies
who are 9 and 6. The Marlins,
sitting over 500.
Jake at 8 and 7. The Nat
6 and 9 and then the Braves, as
we mentioned before. Same record
as the White Sox, 4 and 11.
In the Central, the Cubs, it is
the Craig Council effect. No,
it's not. A lot of players are doing really well there.
11 and 7 on top of the division.
No other team is over 500. That's about
right for the NL Central.
Eight and eight for the Reds,
eight and eight for Milwaukee,
seven and eight for the Cardinals,
and then Pittsburgh down there at five and eleven.
And then out west,
this is the dream division right now,
13 and three for the pods.
Are you kidding me?
11 and four for the Giants,
11 and six for the Dodgers who are in third place.
They stink, just kidding.
Nine and seven for your snakes,
and then Rockies,
three and 12,
and those are the standings in the National League.
Trev, in sports,
coming off of Masters,
weekend. We want stuff to matter. Rory drop into his knees on the green.
It was awesome. If you're in the golf world, even if you're not and you tuned in, you loved
what you watched this weekend. The Yankees fifth inning, bro. Whoa, World Series.
Padres had the Dodgers beat. Their division rivals. The constant bad man.
And we do this whole offseason. The Dodgers sign everyone. Hell, the snakes had a great
off season. Here come the
father's 11 and 0
at home. Tough to pitch
with them. Tough to hit with them.
Jose Iglesia
showing up in box scores this weekend.
This is a special weekend,
man. We haven't seen a shutout
over a week. August 2017.
I know it's my rocks,
but the Padres look like they're
playing motivated baseball.
Could I bring the Padres
down real quick?
No. No, you can not. And then bring a
Back up.
Okay.
Okay.
It's just a little jab and then I'll let them knock me out.
The teams they've played have not been great.
Okay, it's fine to say that.
They're four no against Atlanta.
Atlanta looks,
they stink right now.
They played the A's.
The only team that they didn't win the series was the Cubs.
Then they played the guards and the Rockies.
So like I am in,
I'm in on what they're doing.
It's okay to mention the soft schedule.
And now do I hate the Padres?
Do I love the Dodgers?
Do I hate the Dodgers?
I'm not really sure.
Nobody knows. I keep you on your toes, people.
I don't know, man.
I love what they're doing.
Tatis is going off.
I don't know.
You mentioned the catch at the end of the game in game two to end it.
But this is what I thought was awesome for them.
Okay.
You can talk about the dominance of Povetta.
You talked about Kyle Hart and the Michael King gets the complete game shutout.
In the game, game three.
Do you know who got it done in the first inning for the Padres?
It was Oscar Gonzalez,
this Yuleiguriel and Jose Iglesias.
Right. That's beautiful. That's baseball right there. So yeah, they have guys. They have a
Tatis doing it. Obviously, Merrill's on the IL now. They have the superstars, but they're
getting the contributions from the bottom of the lineup. And that's a beautiful thing. And yeah,
we question the pitching. There's no doubt. We did. You know, we didn't know if they had enough.
We knew that, you know, Sees and King were going to be there. But the signing of Povetta seems to
be incredible. We thought Seas might get traded.
Right?
And the offseason we thought they'd be traded.
Yes.
But once the season started, we're like, okay, they have C's and King and then kind of some question marks.
C's has had the huge blowup start against who.
Was the A's got him?
The A's got him.
I have to double check.
But yeah.
Yes.
But Povetta's been incredible.
King's been incredible.
And again, like they, they just have like the it factor.
And they've had, they've had the it factor.
And I don't know what happened during the off season.
some rumors and some front office stuff had us looking over on the wrong, like,
in the wrong place.
Like the roster was still very, very talented.
And here they are at the top of the division.
Zander Bogart's hitting a little bit.
Like that's, you kind of forget how much he can hit.
The biggest thing that jumped off the page for me, Padres 1-5-1 bullpen ERA is the best
in the majors.
No Padres reliever has entered a game with a lead in relinquency.
that lead. That feels pretty cool. When you're buzzing that phone and you feel that, right?
They have so many guys in that pen. Gavin Sheets is still doing it. Like, they're, they're firing on
pretty much all cylinders right now. Feels like 98. That's what they're saying.
Trev, I want to jump to my Reds. I, the Red sweep the Pirates after a slow start to the season.
three and seven start.
They've now won five of six to get back to 500.
I have more on Hunter Green later because I think it has happened
and it's happening even more.
But again, this NL Central where we kind of get these blinders on
and we get unexcited a little bit,
we might be able to start getting excited about the Reds again.
We've always said they're an exciting team.
They just haven't really done it outside of Ellie and, you know, Hunter.
and that's kind of who took over this series anyway.
Candelari hits the Homer in the first game.
He's really been struggling.
So if he starts to hit, you know, what does that mean for the Reds?
That's, we need more length in that lineup.
What I love, you know, talk about Ellie.
It's the Grand Sound Bobblehead Night.
I feel like we've seen that quite a bit this season.
Like everyone hitting homers on the Bobo Head night.
But there was an inning.
It was bottom three.
Ellie gets on.
He steals second base.
Spencer Steer walks.
Ellie steals third.
base or it goes a third on a pass ball.
Andy Rodriguez tries to throw him out, throws it away,
steer and Ellie end up scoring.
Like that's like the pressure that they can apply it.
They have guys that can hit homers and they have the pitching,
you know, Abbott through well in this series.
And obviously Hunter Green, I think you're going to talk about him later.
Like they have all the components to be a very good baseball team, Jay.
We just kind of been waiting around for it.
And hopefully we got a sign of it this weekend or
we could look back in a couple days and say, well, that's unfortunately Pirates baseball.
Trev, let's do Cubs Dodgers.
Cubs Dodgers.
I mentioned it through the best Western Road Warriors,
and we talked about our general excitement for them.
I guess what did you see this weekend besides the blowout game
and then an awesome comeback win against Glass Now
and an awesome Sunday night baseball game.
I saw two really, really good baseball team.
You know, especially for the Cubs to come back and take the next two games,
Yamamoto deals in that first game.
Boyd matching him kind of pitch for pitch before Edmund hits up.
Why is Tommy Ebben all of a sudden a home run hitter?
You got to figure that out.
Love it for him.
I believe that was a one-o slider.
The boy kind of hung you went down and got.
But then, yeah, after that, it was like Michael Bush, he wants blood.
He's like, I should have been a Dodger.
I should have done that.
Homer's in the top of the second.
Tries at a grand slam.
Paheys robs him of that glory.
But then after that in the game two,
the Dodgers bullpen just got absolutely blown up.
Casperius had a really, really tough out.
He's thrown so much for them this early going in the season
and just kind of all unraveled for him there.
And then in game three, it was the PCA game.
Two homers and a triple.
I was actually watching that last night with everybody talking about PCA
to do it against Glassnow too, like two local guys in L.A.
And this Cubs team can be very, very exciting.
And I think you have to really give credence to the fact they went into L.A.
and did this, especially after, like I said,
Yamamoto dealt against them.
And Sasaki also dealt against them.
But they go and get it out of the bullpen.
It's just good, clean baseball.
The Cubs have been playing right now.
They came in as the best offense in baseball
in that game one before Yamamoto shut them out,
and then they showed it the rest of the way.
Go check out Rob worked very hard on our vlog of our Chicago trip.
PCA featured in that a little bit.
And he's a special talent, interested to see.
the next steps with that kid, because if you look
where those homers went, and the
way he can run the bases, it's
all the tools.
He has all the tools.
And yeah, Michael Bush is this weird
like, Dodgers
traded him for prospects. It
felt off at the time,
and he's becoming a very
good Major League First Baseman.
Yes.
Trev, I think the last N.
One we're really going to touch on
today. Brewer, Snakes, what do you
got uh this was a lot of fun we talked about corbin burns going up against uh them again kentana
makes his brewer's debut in game one is and is dominant that's awesome um brewers put it out of reach
four runs in the ninth uh they get uh brewers get three off of burns in game two which is
awesome trurio hits the home or i don't think we talk enough about trurio i know we try to we
really do uh so brew crew up four nothing uh entering the bottom of the ninth uh
Chad Patrick starts for the brewers, the rest of the bullpen does a fantastic job.
Then there was four walks in the ninth.
There was one intentional walk.
Great.
This is the one I want to focus on real quick.
In that inning, your guy, Perdomo has a great eight pitch AB to get the walk against McGill.
And then McCarthy's like, I know this guy does not want to fall behind me.
And he's hunting fastball.
gets the first pitch fastball ties the game before guerrille junior hits the sack fly but just
the answer back since we called him last year too yeah and here they are doing it again um and then game
three it just felt like they were just always applying the pressure essentially they got five the two
and the seventh nailer and alec Thomas deliver and then a j puck comes and shuts it down by the way
he looks thick like he used to be like a tall skinny guy yeah all of a sudden did he is that like an
offseason thing did i miss something last year he just looks thick this year just big
Country vibes, man.
I mean, he, he looks like every meal goes to his legs.
I just think this is great baseball.
These two teams play fundamentally sound baseball,
and the dime backs just have absolutely no quit.
It's exhausting.
It's got to be exhausting playing them because they just don't,
they don't stop, dude.
It's like quality of bat after quality of bat,
and they continue to go.
They have different ways to beat you.
Like I said, I think that per domo at bat was the bat of the game.
Yeah, he's on some war leader boards this year.
contact stuff we've talked about.
You're right. Relentless. And I don't know.
It just feels like everyone's got a party trick too.
You'll see Thomas or Carol swing and you're like,
oh, dude, those guys fly. McCarthy.
Yes. And Naylor's been awesome.
Did you see him in Old Town?
Cards. We got eyes on your offense.
Like we've told you guys, fish, we're so proud of you.
It's tough to hit every series. We'll get more of you next time.
Cardinals keep winning.
Go Matt Mervis.
Hey, go check out James was 3-0 Homer.
That thing was a line drive that went 10 feet off the ground out to left center.
It was insane.
Let's go check it out.
But first, let's go check out standout performances.

You want me to dance?
No, I'm going to go.
I got Isok Paredes, you know, pick a game.
On Friday, he went three-for-four of the Homer and RBI.
Three runs scored, two walks.
Homer's in three straight games.
We know in the off-season.
We're like, okay, Gregman's not coming back.
So how are you going to replace that production?
Well, Isok Paredes right now.
276, 382 on base for an 831 OPS, 143 OPS plus.
He's got nine runs driven in.
Alex Bregman, no slouch, but the numbers for Paredes are better.
Yeah.
So, you know, big shoes to fill.
He's been filling him, Pop.
He, again, how quickly did it happen?
For him a couple times now where he was a big time prospect,
It wasn't clicking in Detroit.
Although it's always funny looking back at these guys
They get called up when you're like 21.
And it's like, well, if you're getting called up at 21,
you've got some special tools in the belt.
It didn't click with Detroit.
He goes to Tampa and everyone's like,
oh, the race, they found another guy
And all he does is pull homers.
And then he went to the Cubs.
And it was like, I don't know if Wrigley's a great fit for him.
And it kind of wasn't that now he's in Houston,
which should be a dream fit of a ballpark.
One war on the season, three homers over the weekend.
I think he's going to earn a lot of fans in Houston very quickly,
and he is just going to turn on the ball.
He doesn't have a homer to center.
They're all just...
He doesn't need to.
It's no need.
Josh Willingham said he goes,
what's the closest distance they hit a homer,
down the left field line?
That's where I'm going.
Big weekend for Houston.
and Isak.
Hey, I mentioned this guy a lot at the start,
and he deserves to be mentioned more now.
Jung Huli, the hooligans in San Francisco,
are going nuts over this guy.
First ever lefty to hit two home runs off Carlos Rodon in a game.
Second in OPS in the majors behind Aaron Judge, excuse me?
Excuse me?
the grandson of wind,
one of the cooler nicknames to ever exist.
Oh.
His father was a son of win.
Yeah, Rodon, you can ask questions about the pitches.
Did Yankee Stadium help the home runs?
Probably a little more than playing in San Francisco.
Don't care.
That's where they played the games.
And yeah, man, I guess I was reading some articles early on
about this baseball season.
And, you know, it was like hot-takes.
It was an ESPN hot take article.
And one of the hot takes was,
Jung Hu Lee will win the batting title
and be a top five MVP candidate.
And I was like, hey, that's a hot take.
It's also one of those things
where after seeing him for a weekend
and knowing what he can do,
it's like, well, in the middle of the lineup,
missed a chunk of last season because of injury.
If he's back and he's the guy I watch this weekend,
I don't think he's going to have three homers every weekend,
but he can do everything on a baseball field.
And he's part of the Giants getting off to this electric start.
For a long time, I've talked about the Phillies Clubhouse
and just how good it is and how locked in everyone is
and how they gel together.
I think the Giants might be the new Phillies.
With like the personalities they have in their good mixture of veterans,
they seem to me like they're having a great time playing baseball.
know that sounds stupid, but I'm telling you over a 162, you got to have a good time or else,
you know, it's just you play a lot of baseball, you spend a lot of time around each other.
You got to, if you have the right mixture of guys, it matters.
And I really feel like they do.
Right.
And it's showing on the field.
They're tough, man.
Their bullpen, Ryan Walker deserves a shout out.
That guy was one of the breakout players from last year.
He freezes judge to end the game.
Their bullpen is deep.
They're pitching.
is just really deep.
Like you said, they don't make a lot of bad defensive plays.
They just need one or,
they need one or two guys to have a good game offensively,
and they're there.
Man, they've got a little, they've got a little, oh,
I'm on Cleveland schedule.
Let me see, who do they have coming up?
God, the NLS, Trev.
They're going at Philly and then at your angel.
So let's close off this road trip,
and then if they get back home, man,
they're fun to watch.
They're fun to watch.
Another thing that's fun to watch for me, Trev, is when you do Enfuego.
Who you got?
Fuego brought to you by Corona.
For the series, Gabriel Arias goes five for ten, two homers, five runs driven in.
Ozzie Albies for Atlanta has a great series.
Also five for ten, two homers and three runs driven, two stolen bases.
but Kyle Stowers for Miami
who didn't really get to talk about that much.
Him and Matt Mervis doing it.
Seven for 13, three doubles, six runs driven in.
This is beautiful, by the way.
Eddie Julian makes it.
I've been singing his praises
and just hasn't worked out.
He's made some swing adjustments.
It looks a little bit more through the ball.
He goes five for 11 against the Tigers,
a double a home run, two runs driven in.
Homer was to the opposite field.
Hit the home run off of Casey Mize,
his teammate at Auburn.
Funny story.
Eddie Julian grew up in Quebec, speaks French fluently and not any English.
Goes to Auburn, which is in Alabama, I'm pretty sure.
Didn't know how to speak English.
Can you imagine?
No, literally no.
He figured it out.
Go Eddie Julian.
Like, dude, help the twins out.
William Contreras, Milwaukee for the week goes nine for 23.
That's a 391 average.
He's slugging 889 on breaking pitches this season.
Second best in the NL.
Only behind?
Jackson Trio.
that's awesome. Pete Alonzo, my guy
who was 8 for 22, 4 doubles,
seven runs driven in on the week, three walks.
He is going off. Taylor Ward,
7 for 27, 5 homers.
That's a big part of why
the Angels are doing what they're doing right there.
Jonathan Oranda, 7 for 14,
a double homer five runs driven in, and then like I said
before, Matt Mervis, 5 for 14,
three home runs, seven runs driven in.
He's got five homers over his last
six games played in that.
Jake is who is in Fuego.
It's beautiful.
stuff. Beautiful stuff, coach. Unfortunately, I think this now leads to batters who are struggling
in the IL, which yikes. I did, Jack Peterson, three for 50. That's an 070 batting average. This was
one of my favorite signings of the off season. He's just not hitting the heater. 042 on fastballs
this season. It's the lowest among hitters with 22 plus plate appearances. Hey, at least you
have identified the problem. Now you just got to start. It's kind of an easy one to fix if we're
being on. You just got to get started a little earlier. That's it. Yes and no. You still got to
hear major league. You can time up fastballs. It's if it's if it's your pitch selection, if it's,
you know, there's a plethora of other things
that are difficult to fix.
If you're not on the heater,
you just got to get on the heater.
You just got to get started earlier.
I fully expect John to figure that out.
Alec Bome,
for the film.
So again, lost the series to the Cardinals this weekend.
Nine for 60, a 331 OPS,
really struggling,
an OPS of 200 with runners in scoring position.
Those are the ones the fan base remembers
just a little more.
Alec, a guy who's been brought up in trades, feels like every offseason and deadline.
His career has been so fascinating, like up and down, super high, super low.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm curious, like, what the future holds for him.
Michael Toglia of my Rockies struggling a little bit.
49% of swings with two strikes this season.
That's the highest in Major League baseball.
I don't know.
I felt a little bad for the Rockies.
A, facing the Padres pitching,
which every team is going to have to do,
and they'll have to do a lot.
But also, like, it's the reverse course effect thing.
I try to bring up.
They left the friendly confines of course field,
and pitching literally seems harder
while you're facing probably the best team in the big leagues.
Yes, yes.
What do you think about the new city connects?
They're okay.
Oh, I loved them.
Okay, good.
I loved them.
Someone said it looked like 1990s Taco Bell
colors and like that got me a little bit.
But overall, I thought that's what they're supposed, like city connects should look something
like that, like completely different from your actual jerseys.
Let's see. Let's see if I can get. They're good. They're good. I kind of like the, I like their
first ones. I like I did too. I thought that was cool. I did too. Yeah, I've got no qualms with that,
but let's see. Finishing up, Carlos Correa, Trev. I,
I'm interested to get your perspective.
Nine for 55.
Really bad on played appearances that go five plus pitches.
That's,
that's unique.
He's actually looked okay.
He's hit the ball hard,
but he's just topping everything.
So,
you know,
I actually did this on a Twins podcast that I went on.
He has,
he's too closed off right now.
The shoulder's too closed off in,
so he's not allowing himself space to go through the ball.
And that's kind of,
I mean,
he needs to fix that.
He's to just open up a little bit more, whether that's the hip,
whether you start your shoulders a little bit more square.
But you have to give yourself space to stay through the ball.
He's not doing that right now.
So he's making good contact, but just bad launch, I guess.
Well, I don't want to ruin your bad contact.
I did see Jackson Joe break his bat at the handle.
You don't give yourself space.
Yeah, you're going to be going to do.
You're either going to go too quick and top spin everything,
or you're going to get sought off.
Those are the two options, so you don't want those.
Yeah, those are bad.
I'm having...
Those are bad options, Jake.
I'm having bad flashbacks right now.
Those were...
Towards the end of my career,
those were the two options.
Get jammed.
I'd rather a million times
at a million get jammed
than top of spending a baseball.
Because if you get jammed,
at least you could say,
hey, my hands were inside the ball.
Like, I just got to get started a little earlier.
When you start top spinning balls
to the pole side, it's like,
dang it.
That's the bad swing.
Okay, yeah, you just sent me into like...
Yeah.
This is an episode of...
Everybody thinks.
think about that.
Jesus, I'm picturing every ball.
That was the end.
The last guy on the struggle bus.
Max Muncie, who I feel there's been a couple times that it's like,
hey, is it happening now?
Is it happening now?
Struggling on the inside pitch so far this season.
Nine for 50, a 180 batting average.
He, I mean, we talk about them having one of the best rosters of all time,
and that includes Max Muncie being like a freaking stud hitter, at least.
at third base for them and just hasn't been that way.
Him and Andy Pahas have struggled for the Dodgers this season.
But I don't know.
I expect Max his numbers to be where they need to be.
I feel like he's been streaky throughout his career.
He has been down and he has.
There's been some times where he just strikes out almost every at bat.
Right.
And then he has 10 for 20 with five homer type week.
Yes.
And you're worried about the Dodgers?
Is that what you're saying before?
I'm not worried about them.
No.
Oh.
No.
Oh, okay.
I missed reds.
But they've proved to be beatable.
Right?
Three straight series.
Like, isn't that...
Everyone complaining on the Dodgers and the officers,
they're going to run away with everything.
I think I even said this might be the year
that is run away with everything.
And they still could happen, no doubt about it.
But now if you're the Cubs,
and you face them in the players,
like, do you remember?
Like, these are the things that happen.
They can be beat.
the IL
who got place on the aisle
I guess it's not all rainbows in San Diego
Jake Croninworth our guy
he goes on the aisle
I knew he had a broken rib
I knew it did
because he played for like three games
after getting hit by the pitch
I did the exact same thing
and that like fourth day
the swelling goes down
and you have a broken rib
and you start to feel it
and that's exactly what happened
he got plugged
and like the ball just dropped
like science class, energy and momentum.
All of it went into that rib.
Yes.
He's going on the IL.
A couple of relievers, Hunter Harvey, Ben Joyce.
Pablo Lopez, Trev, for your twins.
A little hamstring thing.
He's okay.
He's not okay.
He's on the IL.
That's my bad.
That's my bad.
There you go.
A couple young shortstop.
C.J. Abrams and Mason win for the Nats and the cards.
They both go on the IL.
Marcus Stroman for the Yanks, some knee inflammation after his no good, very bad start.
Dick Fitz, on the IL for Boston.
A couple other utility guys.
This is what we need more of, the returning from the IL.
Edward Cabrera for Miami.
That guy used to be a trade rumor.
Freddie Freeman for the Dodgers, Glaber Torres for the Detroit Tigers is back.
Andrew Abbott for Cincinnati gave them an outing over the weekend.
Nolan Gorman for St. Louis.
Okay, more hit and sure.
Brooks Lee for your twins.
I saw the hit up the middle.
Go nuts, kid.
Go crazy, folks.
Go crazy.
Let's start everyone's week.

Coach Trev.
My award is called the Standin'Am Business Award.
There are times where, you know, you might feel yourself and your things are going
really well and you say some stuff that you got to back up.
Or there are times where you're down in the dumps and you say some stuff and like, are you
emotional or do you really mean it?
And then you have to deal with the consequences of your actions and your words after that.
Especially when you're a public figure, Jake.
You start getting in front of the press and saying some things.
Right.
People are going to hold you accountable.
That's exactly what we've done with our guy, Cal Raleigh.
I don't know.
I mean, we've talked about this before.
September 3rd, 2023.
Where were you at, Jake?
Oh, 2023.
I think I was in high school.
I don't remember.
No, you weren't.
No.
Well, the Mariners had just been officially eliminated from the playoffs by the Rangers in game 161.
30 minutes after the game, Cal Raleigh was in the dugout, I believe.
And he had this to say, we've done a great job of growing some players here within the farm system.
But sometimes you've got to go out and you have to buy a shot directly at the front office.
and coming from a guy with two years big league experience at the time.
And he hadn't like crushed it necessarily.
He hit 30 homers that year, 75 runs driven in.
So he started to feel himself a little bit.
A couple of like nice seasons, but still like a young guy.
And to be able to take that shot at your ownership in front office at that point,
that's usually reserved for like leaders of the team.
And guys that have, you know, a lot of dirt on their spikes.
And at that time, I wouldn't really consider Cal having.
that. But he said it. And then he's stood on his business, Jake. I don't think we give him enough
credit to what he's become for that Mariners team. And again, they have not gotten the job done.
Missed the playoffs last couple of years. But Cal has become the leader of that franchise, almost the
face of the franchise, Jake. And we thought that was going to be a Julio Rodriguez thing. We thought that
was going to be some of these pitchers. But we all know pitchers can't really be leaders,
because they only, especially starters, because they only play once every five days.
So you need a strong presence to lead your team and to be the guy that stands up in front of the press and says what needs to be said.
Now, the Mariners have not taken that advice whatsoever, but I obviously think they should.
I just think it's been great to see what Cow Raleigh's become for them.
next year after saying that hits 34 homers 100 runs driven in five homers this year already
eight runs driven in he became the mariners all-time leader for homers by a catcher and he just
keeps going man it's won a gold glove signed a massive deal um i just think it's crazy
that he he's become the guy uh out there uh with the mariners and they do need to listen to
They still haven't gone out and got him the bat that he's asked for that we've all asked for.
But when I started to think back about that moment, because I actually do think about that,
for some reasons, it's that kind of in my mind quite often.
It was a ballsy thing to do.
To stand and say that about your ownership, again, when you just, you're a pre-arb guy,
Cal Raleigh did that and he stood in his business ever since.
This year, 849 OPS, 156 OPS plus.
he has a platinum glove he's got he we talk about catchers in baseball now and how we think
that this might be one of the best offensive sets of catchers we've ever seen he has a case for
being the best catcher in baseball and he stood on his business jake ever since he said that i just
love it for cal so i wanted to give him my award big dump coming it six two two thirty five coming in
yeah and that might be that might be a little light could be a little light i don't know it could be
coming in the season, it was him and William Contreras for kind of the best catcher in baseball.
And it's kind of what do you like?
Do you more the defensive-minded guy with more pop or the all-around hitter that's also become a pretty solid defender?
Cal Raleigh had a massive weekend.
Switch to the torpedo bat.
He did have a torpedo bat.
I forgot to mention that.
I had in my notes.
I forgot about that.
There hasn't been a lot of torpedo bat talk.
but also baseball players and all athletes are silly that I don't know if the torpedo bat hit those
home runs.
I think Cal Raleigh, the 30 homer guy did, but sometimes something feels good in your hands.
And man, that swing on Avaldi, 3-2, kind of that split change out of the zone.
He changes swing, man, and I guess we're still coming out of a generation of baseball
where I was told, you know, always get your A swing off.
Like, even sometimes it's okay to hit and miss,
to swing and miss as long as you're getting your A swing,
because if you do your B swing and you ground out, that feels dumb.
I don't know.
I think baseball has been adapting the past couple years.
I think we're seeing more of it.
And not many people can get their B swing off
and still send it into the cheap seats,
and that's part of what makes Cal Raleigh special.
Yeah, a lot of power behind that.
I mean, you're right about putting the ball
in play. I mean, I always say this. Overall batting average of balls put in the play is what,
250, 260 or something like that. Overall batting average of strikeouts is zero. Like,
make them make the play. That's analytics 101 by me. That was. That's the Stanford, your Stanford is
showing. I mean, does that make sense? I don't know. I'm sorry. Glad you picked, glad you picked
big, big Cal. I'm going big too. I'm giving out the big game Hunter,
award. And it's one of my lazier puns, but...
That's a great game, by the way.
Great game. I thought about... Buck Hunter is it?
Buck Hunter. I mean, you find that at the wrong bowling alley on the right day.
You're about to have one.
We should be more excited about Hunter Green. And I feel like I've been saying this throughout
the offseason and one of my taglines this offseason was the Hunter Green breakout
happened. He had 26 starts last year to the tune of a lot of a season.
a 275 pitching in Cincinnati, which raids out as tough of a ballpark to pitch in as there is.
He finished eighth in the Sigh Young. He's 25 years old. And I don't want to say there was a
boredom that kicked in, or maybe it's a little bit of Cincinnati. Like the Cincinnati hype train
happened and then it kind of left last year because it didn't click. But he did click. And Trev,
this guy is a monster. Like there's some.
Some guys that throw 100 and you, you know, the body goes flying and they end up throwing off the mound,
he's under control because he's a massive human being and he's learned how to pitch, man.
And some of his fastball location stuff was disgusting at 100 miles per hour.
No one throws the ball harder than him in baseball.
No one has still hit his slider, a zero batting average against it.
That's good.
Dude, the energy that this guy was pitching with yesterday, look at him.
A little slap of the chest to O'Neill Cruz after he punches him out.
This guy's a star.
And I think we can have some baseball side-off conversations of what it takes to be a star.
Like, Shohei Otani, star.
Judge Star.
Mookie, I think Star, after that, Bryce Harper, like it starts to get,
are you a star within baseball or are you a star outside of baseball?
Give me this guy on whatever stage we have.
because he is
four starts in 098 ERA
so good start to this season Hunter
he's gone seven innings his last three starts
like this is this is the starting pitcher we want right
this is the this is the sell the ticket
who's pitching this guy
and he's a stud and you're going to see something
you don't see a lot of pitchers do
like these are the kind of guys
that can be the face of baseball
and change baseball handsome guy
did some fun content stuff with Jolly and Spring Training.
Reds gave him that little buyout his contract
that he's going to be here for a little bit.
This guy's a star.
He really is.
He really come into his own.
And if people remember,
he was,
it was a huge deal for him coming out of high school,
went to Notre Dame high school,
my rival high school,
to my Cresby Carmelite.
But I heard about this guy forever.
He was a two-way guy coming into the draft.
But yeah,
it took him a little.
bit to understand his fastball.
Because prior to the 2024 season, it was getting absolutely shellacked.
He just wasn't locating it.
You know, it was flat.
You threw it hard, but it was flat.
And that's what I'm talking about.
Majorly Base players doesn't matter how hard you throw.
Like, unless you have movement or location, like you can, you can catch up to 110 if it's, if it's straight.
But he's figured that out.
His fastball has been great.
The slider has been great, like you said.
And, you know, we talk a lot about the on-field.
stuff with him, but he's great off the field too.
He's constantly like having these programs where he's giving kids, cleats and gloves and
just providing the youth with baseball gear, which we know is very expensive.
And some of the underprivileged kids don't have the money to have gear.
He goes and takes care of it.
Like I love everything about Hunter Green and he's starting now.
Obviously success helps this, but he's getting really, really comfortable in his own skin.
And I think we just, I mean, the way he's looked now is the pitcher that he's going to be.
Like, I think we just scratched the surface on a beautiful, beautiful career.
Because you mentioned, like, he just, it's effortless.
Effortless 100 mile an hour BBs with a slide.
He's basically a two-pitch pitch.
He started throwing a splitter in 2024, but it's, you know, 9% of the time.
He's a fastball slider guy.
But the location, the movement, everything's ticked up.
And now we're seeing like the true potential of what he can be, which is a Cy Young winner.
I, uh, watching the highlights, I was like, oh, shoot.
Like, you know, I, I understand why there's Skeens mania and rightfully so,
but like Hunter Green can enter that realm.
Um, and like you're saying, he's all around dude, all around dude that I,
if the Cinty train does take off this season, like, give me that guy in a one game
wild card.
Because right now, literally no one has hit his slider.
Yeah.
Zero.
Zero.
while throwing like the hardest in the game.
He also, his Instagram game is just on point.
Like I always make the comparison.
I feel like him and Drake have the same Instagram.
Like he's always just posting these sick pictures
in a new outfit or his new car.
I don't know.
Is Drake out?
I think he's back.
Drake's so out, bro.
I don't think he is.
I think he's back.
He dropped the banger of a song.
Nobody really cares.
He's selling out tours overseas.
I guess comment below if Drake's.
back or not. Comment below.
Trev, excited to see you at the midweek.
Again, midweek's more topical, more recaps during this.
You guys know your team better than us.
Tell us what we miss. Tell us what we should be talking more about.
We love you guys.
That's called a sunburn. Yeah, Jake sucks.
You heading back to the beach?
Olivia gave me oil with like SPF 15 yesterday, dude.
She's got this bronze Egyptian skin, and I don't.
Can't do that.
Oil's a day four thing after you've already established your base tan.
I did not do it.
I used to be proud about sun tan.
Give me the good stuff.
Give me my face.
Give me my shoulders.
That's it.
