Hello and welcome to Talking Baseball.
Today it is the annual trade episode.
Trevor Plouffe, Jolly Olive, Chris Rose.
Let's...
Wow.
Wow.
My camera.
Oh, shit.
Bombers.
Raw power.
Bye, baby.
Still a hitter, though.
Still a hitter.
Still a hitter.
Hello, and welcome to Talkin Baseball today.
We have the best baseball minds in the universe.
and Trev. Jolly olives, Chris Rose, Trevor Plouffe, BBT. Yep.
And we are coming live from our All-Star Break House.
Yes.
The Corona House, the Mountain Dew House. If any of you follow any of us on social media, you've seen it by now.
If not, pretty crazy. We got a nice setup down in the ATL.
And per usual in this episode, you can hear a little bit in my voice.
We actually behaved last night, and I can't believe I'm going to start with giving you credit.
We were looking around the room last night.
Should we hop to another party?
Should we get another drink?
Trevor Plouf said, you know what, guys?
We should probably go home.
We should probably go home.
We did.
So, Trev, you kind of bitched out.
Thoughts?
I'm running on fumes, and the bed was calling my name.
Although Chris Rose was in my ear, like the little devil.
Like, you know, we got a long two days.
ahead of us.
We better get...
True, though.
It's true.
It is true.
And I'm happy we did it
because now I am awake for this.
Because last year didn't go so hot.
It did not.
It did not.
Gere crochet didn't get traded during the season.
How stupid is that?
Yeah.
Your list didn't shine bright.
Just to go over last year's standings very quickly.
Jake is our defending champion.
Thank you.
Nice.
Good job.
You had 45 points.
You crushed the field.
I think that's a record.
Sheelphi and yours.
truly tied second with 20 points.
Trevor, you'll be on the clock first because you stunk with 10.
So sorry about that.
But he came very prepared this year.
Yeah.
Jolly, by the way, welcome back.
Last year, you missed the festivities because I believe you were in Italy, right?
Yeah, it was in Italy.
That's tough.
With my now fiance.
Yes.
Oh.
Yeah.
I'm not talking to you about that.
I'm not snapping for that.
I'm happy for you, but work first.
Hold on.
If we change the draft order and if you move up, do we get better seating at the wedding?
Oh, interesting.
Okay.
He's like, you're not.
It'll look the same when you're sitting your ass in Los Angeles.
It's really just family and friends.
I just learned that you're all invited.
So I got to fucking work that in, I guess.
We'll be there.
Should we go over rules?
Yes, Chris, we need them.
Okay, the rules are pretty simple.
We're going to go eight rounds.
So we will each pick eight players.
32 players will be on the move.
Goals to get as many points as possible.
If we get a correct match,
because we have to pick a player going to a team,
you get 10 points.
If a player just gets traded,
but to the wrong team, you still get five points.
There's also incentive because we want bigger names
to get moved in this show.
You get an additional five points.
If the player made the All-Star team this year,
even if they don't play,
but they still made it,
like if you wanted to trade,
Alex Bregman, you get a plus five points.
And if the player moved has won a major award,
that's a Cy Young, an MVP, a rookie of the year,
then he'll also get five points.
So I'll give you a, for example,
if you say that Aaron Judge gets traded
from the Yankees to the Marlins and sure enough,
it happens, Joe's about to run up here.
Yo, bro.
He was just here.
He was?
Yeah.
Okay.
So you would get 10 points for getting it right.
You would get an additional five points because he made the All-Star team this year
and five points because he has been named at MVP.
It's not five points per MVP.
Okay?
So there you go.
You would get 20 points.
Thanks, Bob.
Nice.
Hope that makes sense.
The order of the draft is pretty simple based on last year's results.
Trevor, you will be on the clock first.
Jolly, I'm going to go second since you weren't here last year.
I tied this Jelfi.
And then you're going to go third.
And Jake on our snake draft.
means I'm last.
Yeah.
I think you like the wraparound, though.
I think you do.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was going to call it something else, but I've, it's...
Where were you going to call it?
I was going to call it the reach round.
Yeah, it's probably not best.
And, yeah, if you go through the history of this episode,
there's been some bloodshot eyes, there's been some raspy voices.
Yep.
And I think Chris Rose, I think it was...
I don't want to say our first bonding opportunity,
but I think it was the first time I pushed some limits with you.
Oh.
When was this?
This was Colorado All-Star game.
And at one point, I just, in the middle of the draft, I just said,
I was such a big fan of yours on intentional talk.
And Jimmy lost his mind.
I was a big fan of years at MLB Network.
Did you guys plan that?
You guys are so cute.
That was us.
So, with that, thank you, everyone.
It's interesting.
Because nobody says anything nice to me anymore.
So let's just do this.
Here we go.
A thousand comments just spawned them.
Oh, my gosh.
Trev, you're ready then.
Here we go.
I am ready to go.
One, one.
Okay.
Let me just check.
Two-time All-Star.
Wow.
So I'm getting points for this one.
Only if he's an All-Star this year.
Oh, this year.
Yeah, well, he is.
Okay.
I think.
I actually have no idea.
Oh, great.
I'm going to start out with a guy who a lot of,
there's going to be at least three to four teams after him,
including Jake's,
Yankees.
I'm not going to put him there, though.
I'm going Eugenia Swares to lead the board off.
And I'll tell you what I want to see.
By the way, I mean, he's having a phenomenal.
If he's not an all-star, what's going on?
He's an all-star, right?
Yeah.
Okay.
889 OPS.
He's got 31 homers, already 78 runs driven in.
For the Diamondbacks, who I believe just announced that they are shopping everybody.
So I like this pick for me.
Milwaukee is a team I would love for him to go to.
Like, that would be a dream scenario for me.
I feel like it is an acquisition they would make.
I don't think he's going to cost a ton.
He is a pure rental,
2026 free agent.
Then there's Chicago,
and then there's the Yankees.
That's kind of like the three teams I'm thinking.
I'm going to put him on the Cubs, though.
Eugenio Scores to the Cubs.
I just, back to the NL Central,
they need to go.
Like, their offense is great,
but adding Gino at third base instead of shopping.
there, I think just lengthens the lineup.
So I'm going Gino Swarres to the Cubs.
Where did everybody else have them going?
Just out of curiosity.
Cubs was my two, and I liked that.
I had them going to the Tigers just because they have a really good farm system,
and I feel like they have the pieces to get it done.
I had them going to the Brewers,
and the only reason I didn't was because of the money situation.
Yeah, so that's...
I wrestled with it.
Tigers, to me, McKinstries filled, like, filling it nicely at third base.
I think they would probably put the third base position lower on their pace.
liking order.
Okay.
Nobody liked him on the Yankees.
Nope.
I did not have him going on the Yankees.
Okay.
Nope.
Yeah, I don't either.
I think, yeah, I think it's Cubs or Detroit.
Yeah, Trev, you think Detroit's out of the game on him.
I'm still in.
Okay.
I'm still in.
Look, I think Detroit, Milwaukee are the two more interesting fits for him,
but I think the Cubs are like very into 2025.
Yeah.
Okay.
Who's going to be responsible for typing that in the sheets?
So that we, that sounds like a jolly thing.
Jolly.
Yeah, jolly.
Good news, bad news.
Yeah.
Welcome back.
That's what happens with the only guy in your 20s.
Yeah, how about we're all responsible for our own?
Oh, okay.
Wow.
Look at that.
All right.
I'm not going to change up my strategy,
and even though I should.
So I'm finding extra point getters.
So Ryan O'Hern will be playing in the All-Star game on Tuesday.
the question, who really needs like a DH?
Who could really have them?
Well, there's a team that is very much in contention
that doesn't like adding a ton of payroll,
but does like moving bodies to and from their team
at this time of year.
In fact, they just picked up a reliever
from the Baltimore Orioles, Mr. Baker.
I think Ryan O'Hern is headed down to Tampa Bay.
They only have to pay him about $3 million
the rest of the year if it gets toward the end.
end of the month. Only fellow
All-Star Jonathan Orando will have a higher
O'Hern on this team.
He doesn't give you a tremendous pop.
I think he's got 11 homers or something like
that. And I just think it's
like a strategic move.
Give them more balance in their lineup.
I think they could certainly use
a guy who can drive the ball a little bit
more and a good high OPS.
And he doesn't cost much. And he won't
cost them anything in terms
of prospect value either.
So Ryan O'Hern is
headed to Tampa Bay.
Feels like one of the smart teams are going to go for it.
The way he hits against Ritey's.
I actually, I like him for Milwaukee,
just because he's got Milwaukee energy to me.
Like, you mentioned he's a DH,
but he could go out to the corner outfield for a game.
He could play for his base for a game.
Like, very, very Brewers, let's make this work.
Yeah.
That would have worked.
So that's it.
And if he leaves the L. East, that'd be fine.
You're okay with it.
That would be fine.
Wow.
All right.
He's from Dunedite, Florida.
He's from where?
Dunedden.
Yeah.
Maybe it goes the J's.
Oh.
But they play their games in Toronto.
Yeah.
Well, not for 20-20.
All right, y'all.
What do you got?
Good insight.
Great.
I feel like I'm having a tough time figuring out who's going to be a surefire seller.
Because so many teams are like three games under.
Yeah.
And, like, might still buy.
Yeah.
A lot of them are like where the all-stars are that you can pick up easy points.
Hey, dumb quick question.
Could Swaros be a Mett?
Probably not.
Okay.
They have like five minutes.
That was a late-night thought for me.
What's up with Swaggy V?
Three hits yesterday.
Good.
Hey.
Getting hot right at the break, which is tough.
So we'll see.
Enough Mets talk.
Yeah.
I know that you want to keep going, but enough Mets talk.
I'm going to, I'll play it a little risky and I'll go for just a pure trade that I think will happen with no guaranteed points attached to it.
Phillies need bullpen.
Phillies, they have one of the worst bullpen years in baseball.
I pulled this stack because I thought it was kind of fun.
Eight different Phillies have a save this year,
and none have more than eight.
So they've just been passing that roll around
and haven't been able to find any rhythm there
since Alvarado got suspended.
I have Kyle Finnegan going to the Phillies.
Kyle Finnegan.
Yeah, he's been locking down a lot of saves from the Nats.
I think they're like one of the five guaranteed sellers.
And he, I think they signed for like a really,
low-cost deal.
Feels like a Dumbarowski guy to just make a quick swap with.
I don't know how much the Phillies can do with their
pharmacism because they really want to protect guys like Andrew Painter and maybe
Mick Abel.
So this feels like a nice, easy trade to help them out where they really need it.
So I'll just go for something that I think could possibly be a 10-pointed.
I'll take Caliphon again to the Phillies.
Okay.
Don't hate it, Jolly.
Thanks, man.
That's kind of a deep dive in round one, but I mean.
I don't know.
I mean, yeah, he's going to get to get plays.
Well, you guys have
traded.
I like that.
You guys had different approaches to the draft.
I had the one pick.
I had a slam dunk it.
I don't need to over research.
I would have win Gino-1-1.
So there you go.
Jake and your oversized research screen are up for the next two picks.
Yeah, this is...
You didn't want to use a computer, huh?
This is a full-size iPad.
I've just got these big hands.
I like the job.
That was not the consensus at the Players Alliance Party last night.
As every great outfielder from the last 20 years just walked in like one in a row.
It's great.
Name them.
Adam.
Adam, I never know where you're at anymore.
You're just traveling the world.
I'm happy he's in Atlanta.
It's true.
Jolly.
Kenny Lofton.
He was at the draft too.
They waived.
Nard Span.
Justin Upton.
Chris Young.
You didn't know.
These are all my peeps.
I got a big hug from Eric Davis.
Yeah.
Nice.
That was a good one.
Michael Boren.
We forgot him.
Michael Born was there.
Yes, he was.
There was a lot.
It was awesome.
Okay.
I am.
The Gordon Brothers.
Yeah.
Fred McGriff was there.
Fred McGriff.
Wow.
Andrew Jones.
Dave Justice.
Dusty Baker.
Terry Pendleton.
That's a plan.
That was a great party.
We stood out.
Do you think any of them are like,
Jake Story.
Yeah.
Yes.
Ever since the MLB deal went through.
Chris Rose.
yes.
I'm going with a guy who I think absolutely gets traded.
I don't think there's bonus points attached, sadly,
but, you know, it's not always about that.
It's Josh Naylor.
Put him where I wanted to go.
Let's go.
I think it's the right answer because I was trying to find,
is there any team with a short right field
that the Josh Naylor value prop is better?
And, like, Milwaukee comes into play.
a lot of the teams we've mentioned already,
I think it's just clear as day.
Send them to Seattle.
Like, my goodness.
Thank you.
Like, they need it.
And as I was just going down the other teams,
like the first base slash DH position
could get, could become a situation.
And at Seattle, it's not.
And just go get Josh Naylor.
So Josh Naylor to the Seattle Mariners.
To end the first round, thoughts?
Okay.
That's where I had them.
Seattle consistently bottom three in terms of offensive production in first base.
And like it's a true rental, like, it just works.
Seattle would love the way he plays.
Where do you put them?
Do you put them behind Cal or do you keep Randy there or do you do?
Put them behind Cal and that's the other part of it.
Like get Cal Raleigh some protection the rest of the season.
Once you get past the top four hitters in Seattle, it's pretty light.
It also gives them an option.
I know this isn't what they want to do, but like, hey, maybe you could slide Julio down to five.
And does anything happen there?
Like, you can do some different things where right now their lineups, although contributing more this year, it's been limited.
Yeah.
Bring in Josh Naylor.
That's a simple one.
That's a good one.
Thank you.
Let's flip it over.
So I'll begin round two, correct?
Yeah, please.
Very nice.
I'm going to go with another.
No, don't be basic, Jake.
He that guy.
I live in New York.
I'm a fan of New York sports teams.
That is why Zach Gallen, also from Arizona, is going to my Mets.
Really?
Wow.
Really?
Jolly said no.
Mets need some more arms.
You can't have enough arms come October.
There's the whole Zach Gallen had his two best starts in New York this year,
although he just had another good start.
Interesting.
I think the Mets, like all these teams we're about to talk about, they're looking for arms.
I think with what they can do with their pitchers, I think Zach Gallen, down the stretch,
playoff experience.
I know it's not his most impressive statistics.
Mets tap into Zach Allen, milk in the stands in October.
Okay.
Good.
Okay.
Really good.
Not what I thought you were going to say.
I think that's fun.
I don't know if I agree with it.
It's fine.
I had him going to Toronto.
I've got a guy for that.
Adam Cubs, maybe.
Because I feel like they might need some pitching.
Sure.
They might make a big mo.
He looks great in every uni.
All right, Jolly, you're up.
Wow, I kind of rock my world a little bit.
Okay.
Well, you didn't have met, so I'll do Yankee.
Oh, yes.
I like this.
A little casting couch swap up here.
What the fuck?
You have street crud now.
You got to cool with that.
You've got to clean it up.
And speaking of which, I feel like I got to clean up the couch
based on what your comments is just.
My camera might be watched.
There was an MLB representative last night that came up and said,
oh, you're like, congrats the deal's gotten done, blah, blah, blah.
And he's like, you know what?
It was funny.
People were wondering if we were going to control your guys' narrative.
And he goes, about two days after the deal, Jimmy had a post ripping the replay.
He's like, yep.
We're still alive, baby.
Hey, I'm a company, man, MLB, whatever you need.
You pay it?
I'll say it.
Okay.
Just kidding.
So none of us had Gino go into the Yankees.
Correct.
But I do have the Yankees getting a third baseman
because I don't think they can do the second half.
This is fantastic.
With Oswald Pross at third base.
Chipper Jones?
Who are you bringing in?
Do you know what Oswald Prosses is OPS Plus is?
Okay.
62 games?
41.
29.
Oh, God.
Yeah, it's bad.
Okay.
Can't measure heart.
You.
This guy can't play the position with the best of him, but he's been hitting, and he fits
the Yankees mold.
They lead the league in walk percentage.
This guy walks a ton.
Plays for the Angels currently.
Yeah, a good one.
They might do maybe a soft sell.
I thought the Yankees might go after him in the off season.
Tainted Love.
There's a side quest going on over here.
Yon Moncada, going from the Angels to the Yankees.
Feels like an easy win.
I don't know if they want to trade Spencer Jones or any of the big dogs.
They wouldn't have to do that to get this deal done.
I don't know if the angels are going to sell
because I don't ever know
what they're going to do.
You never know.
How excited would you be with that?
I used to be excited about that.
I would still get excited.
Sure.
Someone talked me off on Moncada
that the prospect of that old
White Sox switch hitter
get some Yankees juice did excite me
and now I'm not.
But third base has become like our lowest priority.
We need pitching bad.
The only thing that would worry me about Mankata is that like three days after showing up, he would pull his buttocks or something like that.
The Yankees.
The Yankees have had a history with a lot of injuries that I don't know.
He's also too handsome for the Yankees.
They're an ugly bunch.
Wow.
And the truth comes up a guy like that.
What happened to the California Yankees?
You normally say it's all these Cali boys.
These are my family.
The good players, I'm just saying they're not.
I don't know if they're the best-looking team.
Agree or disagree.
Comment below.
That's my pick.
Good pick.
Thanks for.
Rosie.
So the Cubs are in need of a starter,
but we often talk in the baseball landscape of a good way to help your starting pitching
is to continue to fortify your bullpen.
Now, their bullpen has actually been pretty good,
and Daniel Palencia has been one of the really good stories this year.
The question is, if you're able to out.
outless the Brewers and the Cardinals and to some degree the Reds to win the Central.
How good do you feel giving him the ball in the ninth inning of a playoff game?
Multiple playoffs.
Pretty good.
I feel.
He is filthy, so pretty good.
In addition, he is.
He's really good.
Yeah.
But, I mean, there's nothing wrong.
There's nothing wrong with saying, hey, go get some tough outs in the eighth inning.
We're going to need that, too.
Yeah.
And like I said, with everything gets condensed in the playoffs.
everybody gets to Panicsville.
So starting pitchers,
sometimes they don't see the fifth inning.
They just don't.
So you need as many good arms as you got back there.
Plus, the Cubs have Presley, Thielbar, Brazier, Keller,
all guys that have been big part of what they've done so far in the first half
that are going to be free agents after this year.
So I want a guy who's not just a rental,
who's going to be there to help us in 2025 and beyond,
which is why Emmanuel Claisse is going to,
to end up on the north side.
I knew you were going to take it before anybody else did.
Holy crap.
This is a huge, because in part, it's a perfect matchup, trade partner-wise.
The Cubs have a couple of outfielders down in the minor leagues who've been knocking on
the door for years, and who knows what's going to happen with Kyle Tucker.
But there's limited space available out there in Wrigley and the Ivy.
So Owen Cassie, we'll see in Cleveland soon enough, buddy, because Emmanuel Claisse is headed
to the north side.
What's the matter with that?
I think he gets traded.
I think Cleveland does...
No, I knew you're going to take him.
I'm going through similar things with the twins
and our back end of the bullpen.
I don't want it to happen.
AL Central.
We out here.
I'm not going to pick one of Griffin Jacks to Yon to run
because I don't want it to come to fruition.
Say his name.
Griffin Jacks to the Dodgers, done.
He's the nastiest.
I think he's the nastiest pitcher in the big leagues.
That's crazy.
All right, let's keep going.
and this isn't the Twins podcast.
You can go find that somewhere else
where you like and subscribe.
I can't have you just traded Classy.
I've been trying to do it all off.
It's insane.
It's insane.
But if they had listened to me,
they would have been better off.
They don't listen to me.
They should listen to me.
Yeah, damn straight.
I don't like having two picks.
Back to back, Treff.
I know.
I have one in the chamber right now.
Then do better.
I'm doing, what are you talking about?
Dad, dad, go to sleep.
Go back to bed.
I am going to go, we'll just start with the name.
Meryl Kelly is going to get traded.
I am on the Diamondbacks.
I'm on the Diamondbacks trading, especially since, what is it?
Did Bob Nightingale come out and say that yesterday?
Trusted source.
No doubt about it.
This is.
He's right a lot.
We're going to come out of the bike.
He was there last night.
We're going to come out of the break.
Diamondbacks are going to reel off 12 in a row.
All of this first two rounds.
will be irrelevant.
It's so true.
I got one thing to look at.
Hold on, guys.
Here we go.
Don't worry about him.
Take your time.
I had this.
Okay, yeah.
I had this guy going.
Well, there's a lot of teams I could use.
Merrill Kelly has been probably,
he's been better than Zach Gallen numbers-wise this year.
Does that mean he costs more?
I'm not so sure.
I think both those guys are going to rentals,
but still have to get some stuff up.
So I could place him on the Yankees.
I can place him on the Cubs and just do like a Swares Kelly,
just like a part, a package deal.
So where are you placing him?
I'm putting him on the San Diego Padres.
I want them.
Yeah, I feel like he just fits the vibe there.
Interesting.
I feel like Meryl Kelly fits the San Diego Padres vibe.
They need some help.
I'm putting Mero-Col on the Padres.
Okay.
Okay.
All right.
I like that one.
Okay.
That's another, wow.
I think they have a couple other needs, but.
Yeah, they do.
It's not bad.
Yeah, we probably should have mentioned him when O'Hern guy.
pick that's another a guy on their vision board but uh Padres okay Treff and who else I'm
gonna go with Marcelo Zuna damn yeah that's my next one and I mean every team needs bats
every team needs bats I'm gonna put him on well you put Josh Naler already to the Mariners they got
room for both I want to put him on the Brewers but it's not that's not gonna happen
Trev, can I tell you something?
You had him on the Brewers?
That was my next pick.
I know.
That's my exact next pick.
Wow.
So he's a true rental.
Like, you have to go, when you're talking about a true rental, I feel like those
teams come into play, the Rays, the Brewers, and Seattle.
So should I do it?
You want me to take your pick?
You can take my pick.
Oh.
I feel like Seattle's the better fit for him.
They need a right-handed bat.
I'm going to Seattle.
Marcelo Zuna.
Oh.
Up to the Mariners.
You talked to me into Milwaukee.
I flash forward to October.
I like the Milwaukee fit.
There's people with,
I can't see him in a brewer's jersey.
There's people with bear paws on in the outfield.
I can't see him in a brewer's uniform.
I can see him in a manor's uniform.
I just feel like they need a player like that.
So you have in Seattle?
Put him in Seattle.
Okay.
So I just want to remind everybody that is you're going to comment away,
which is perfectly fine.
And you say, well, you're only have certain teams that are doing this.
Well, right.
I mean, we're all,
kind of four individual companies, so we're not working in cahoots to make sure that the 32 players end up in the perfect spot.
We're competing against each other.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I think Josh Nailor is going to the Chiavelochie.
Oh, look at this.
Oh, perfect.
What is this?
Are we going to the bullpen already?
Selept shop?
Jake's going to take you guys down.
Oh.
So you guys just walked in the house.
Yeah.
It's like Jake's cousin or something.
All right.
So I'm up.
Now trade like Cade Smith to the Yankees.
Let's clear out that whole pen.
Yeah, we're not going to do that.
We're not going to do that.
Cade Smith doesn't make any money yet.
Yet.
But I am going to help out my friend Jolly Olive a little bit.
Oh, boy.
What do I get?
What do I get?
You need left-handed arms out of that bullpen.
Do you not?
I do.
Okay.
This might be another one of my picks.
Yeah.
Ryan Baruchie.
Rural.
So he's been up and down in recent years.
He was so nasty when he was in Detroit.
I was like, God, dang, that guy with Guardians, twins,
they're always going to have to deal with this guy for years.
Then he got traded.
Then he got traded again.
And now he's being traded again.
From Baltimore to the New York Mets.
Gregory Soto.
Over 10Ks per 9.
So it'll give you a little bit of swing and miss still.
He has pitched in the playoffs.
to varying degrees of success.
Okay.
And I just think, you know, it's not an earth-shattering move,
but one that I think can help you.
Congratulations.
It feels like a David Stern's move.
Okay.
He'll go out there and find some bullpen.
They do need bullpen.
Yep.
And he's having a nice year so far.
So are you okay with that?
Yeah.
I watched him pitch against us with the Phillies.
Had some pretty nasty stuff.
Good.
Yeah.
So I'm not upset.
Yeah, I know.
The only thing is that sometimes, like,
he'll come into a critical.
juncture in the sixth or seventh inning of a playoff game.
And as a fan, you're sitting there going, oh, my God.
Really?
Okay, I'm looking forward to it less now.
Yes, so.
All right.
There you go.
Jolly, you're up.
Oh, I'm up.
Great.
Okay.
I might just go for a guaranteed points player.
Wow.
Because I don't have one yet.
I feel like I should.
I got my next two picks already lined up.
Ooh.
Oh.
That coffee slapping.
I just don't think the Red Sox are selling anymore.
No, they're going to be in the World Series and lose to the Dodgers.
You got to settle down over there, man.
You got to really settle down.
I don't think the Giants are selling.
It's hard to find a lot of sellers.
I got one that I think might, because this is a pretty good contract.
He is an All-Star this year.
Okay.
Ooh.
One of our favorite people from the Kansas City Clubhouse when we went there.
Oh.
Carlos Hestavis.
Yes.
I think he's a possible candidate to get traded.
I know he just signed.
He's got that club option, but he's been good for a while now.
and I don't know how many pieces they really have to sell
and I don't know if everything's in the cards this year
for your Kansas City Royals
I've been playing some pretty bad baseball the past couple months
but I have to figure out where I'm putting them
because I don't think I want to do Phillies again
I don't know if they'll just do a straight-up reunion with him
Yeah
Is in-division trade crazy?
I don't know how much better the Tigers can get
especially with the bullpen.
But I'll put them on the Tigers.
Okay.
I think it's a good move.
I think it's like kind of,
they're already rich with talent.
Sure.
And maybe they could use someone who's a little bit more proven.
They got a lot of young guys there.
A decent contract.
They got money.
I like Will Vest at the back end,
but I do think that it's good.
It doesn't even need to be closing games.
I know.
But that's the thing.
I think they've got a lot of guys
that they would feel comfortable with in the ninth inning,
which I think can be great,
but also a little bit scary.
when you get to the playoffs.
I think it's a good pickup.
And I'll lock up five points if nothing else.
We're playing the game.
Because you think that he's getting traded.
Okay.
We're playing the game.
Good.
Great pick.
Thanks, man.
All right.
Jakey, you get the next two.
Jakey, Jakey, the pillow snakey.
Okay, where am I going to go?
I, um, oh.
Oh.
Oh.
So is what this whole deadline was supposed to be about.
But he's been pretty bad.
Yeah.
But I think someone puts the chips on the table.
Really?
You think so, huh?
I do.
He's got a 722 right now with a 1.4 whip.
He had that stretch of like four starts that were good.
Half of them were against like the worst teams.
But you're making an investment in Sandy.
This is his first year coming back.
You would, in theory, get him through 2027.
And it's a flashy trade.
Like you trade for Sandy.
Oh, you put them on the Mets, aren't you?
No, no, no.
I already got them assets.
We're good.
There's a team that didn't know if...
You wouldn't want them?
There's a team that didn't know if they were going to be a part of this season.
There's a team that has struggles signing free...
Teams that struggle signing free agents.
There's a team who didn't know if their best player was going to stay around and said he got half a billy.
Grab your passport.
Sandy north of the border.
You're heading to the Great North Sandy.
Flashy.
I like that.
Right?
Like, they struggle.
Hey, if you can't sign guys, trade for them.
Yeah.
They need some pitching.
Him and Max Scherzer yucking it up,
all those veteran pitchers.
Like, a flashy Toronto.
Bus Bassett and Scher free agents after this year.
That makes sense.
Why not?
Of all the places to put him, I think I like that.
I do, too.
A friend?
Come on, guys.
There's a reason the champ is here.
Okay.
All right.
I like that.
I, uh,
I will double dip in the starting pitchers.
I will go, I have such a not sexy pick for later.
I can not wait for it.
My sexy pick will be the Yankees need their pitching.
I'm pretty plugged in.
Tucking Yanks, subscribe.
Losing Clark Schmidt.
Yikes.
That affects multi-year plans.
We needed pitching anyways.
We don't necessarily need.
We need high-end starting pitching.
We need innings, and we'd love some upside.
Mitch Keller, shower off the Pittsburgh, my friend.
You're coming to the Bronx.
Okay.
Yep.
Interesting.
I don't mind that one.
Is that our first?
No, that's our second year.
Is that, yeah, but that's the first starting pitcher to the Indians.
Yeah?
Yeah, I think they're definitely going to make a move first.
I think, you know, there was an argument for true rental before the year.
Now with Clark Schmidt, I think it's changed their plans a little bit.
And they really, I think they like that trade of like a year plus control.
Year plus.
And does Mitch Keller could use some Matt Blake pitching coach secrets that Pittsburgh doesn't have.
Tough.
Yeah.
I'll copy you, man.
Okay.
I'll also send a starting pitcher to the Yankees.
Oh, gosh.
Oh, yeah.
Yankee round?
I'm a little over.
Should we go Yankee round?
Oh, boy.
I mean, it's just one of the clear-cut needs.
God, I wish the Angels would just sell.
I just don't know if they're going to.
Nice.
Sorry.
Let's see.
I'll take a risk.
I'll take a risk.
This might be their big move.
And he's been really good.
He's an all-star this year.
Oh.
We have a new coworker that's probably going to be very excited to talk to him.
Oh.
I think moving you say Kukuchi could be a really good idea for the Angels.
Okay.
I know that they are on the fence about South.
and they probably won't.
But if they do, this is one of the more lucrative pieces.
They didn't trade Tyler Anderson last year when I thought they should have.
Yes.
He's a rental this year.
I think we moved this year.
And they still have the worst farm system in baseball.
They just passed up some really good players with the second overall pick.
And this is the team you're banking on.
It's assigned for a little bit less money.
I'm hoping that some kind of skid comes about and they do sell.
I'll send you say Kikuchi to the Yankees because.
Whoa.
I just think that they need high-end pitching,
and they have a really good game one game two starter.
But the AO is wide open.
And if you lock up your game three starter,
the Yankees become so much more of a force than they were before.
Another lefty could be fun, too.
Three lefties in a row.
Interesting.
It's kind of interesting.
Yeah.
I don't know.
We'll say.
You say the Gucci to the Yankees.
I hate it, too.
That's fine.
Do you hate it?
I don't hate it.
I don't hate it.
The money, the years.
Sounds like he hate it.
I don't, I would, if it goes down, I'll be happy and we'll probably make shirts about the three lefties and stuff like that.
Yeah, no, great job, Joel.
All right.
Okay.
All right.
One team we have not mentioned yet is the hottest team in baseball.
The Boston Red Sox.
You know, five to eight days ago, we were like, man, is Bregman going to go?
Is Jaron going to go?
is the oldest Chapman going to go?
Is Lucas Gialito going to go?
And instead, Gialito is now their hottest starting pitcher.
Chapman is here in Atlanta.
Alex Bregman is back, and Jaron's been hitting the shit out of the ball.
So now, what do we do to help this team?
Right?
I mean, why not?
It's the American League.
It doesn't feel like there are great teams.
There are some really solid teams.
But this could be it for the taking for them.
So what's the area where they need?
I would say outside of a roll as Chapman,
they don't have a ton of swing and miss
at the back end of their bullpen.
So let's get them some help there.
So I'm going to go,
Sir Anthony Dominguez.
He's going to move from Baltimore.
Why not?
He's back over 12Ks per 9.
Nice.
He still can be a little bit of hit and miss.
I'm not talking about swinging miss.
I'm talking about hitting miss out there on the mound.
But he does have playoff experience with Philadelphia.
He has been great at times,
and he's been Orible at times.
But I'd be willing to go with that from the right side.
And I think that he and Chapman are a nice pairing there at the back end of the bullpen.
So there you go.
Baltimore's selling.
Well done.
Thank you.
Rating the Baltimore bullpen.
Yeah.
I mean, if Mike Elias sits on his hands this time, what are we doing, dude?
What are we doing, dude?
What are we doing, dude?
I love your little pun right there.
Which one?
Such a dad joke.
What's that?
I am going to go.
I have two, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, you sure do.
All right, Twins Territory.
You know, look, we've expanded.
Rays up, twins.
We've expanded the territory.
It's even into Alaska now.
We're coming for your state.
Okay?
That's my job as I've been expanding Twins Territory.
Did they broadcast the games yet?
Did they figure that?
Colonizing other states, no.
I'll let that one slide.
Yankees are going to be out of the playoff picture in three weeks.
There's a guy.
We're going pirate rating now.
Nice.
Oh, yeah.
We are.
We are.
and I do think Detroit will add to their bullpen.
I do think that that is A.J. Hinch's calling card.
He wants to be that guy.
Don't let him tell you any different.
David Bednar needs to get out of Pittsburgh.
He's had an interesting year so far.
Yeah, he has.
He got sent down.
Sure did.
But since coming back, I believe he was just the NL reliever of the month in June.
It's been very good.
So it's the perfect time to trade him if you're the,
Pittsburgh Pirates.
And he just seems to me like he would fit right in that Detroit Tigers.
You're taking the yins here out of Pittsburgh, though.
Native guy.
Ouch.
That's my first pick.
Okay.
It's good.
I said Twins territory.
I'm coming for you.
There's one guy there, and we've talked about him quite a bit on our show, who I think
goes.
And I think the twins do end up trading some pieces.
If I'm being realistic here, look, love for them to get back to the race.
but I do think, maybe not the guys that you want,
but they are going to trade.
I mean, Chris Paddock is not going to be there, I don't think.
And this guy, I think, should get traded as well.
He's been great for the clubhouse,
and he's been a great player for them.
I am going to go with Harrison Bader.
And I'm going to put him in a spot
where we've been asking them to make a move for years.
I'm going to put him on the Philadelphia Phillies.
Oh, okay.
Yes.
So he and Marsha, Platoon.
and center.
Put him out there.
He can still play a very, very good defensive outfit.
And he's been raking as of late.
He's got postseason pedigree.
And think about, like, I mean, you know the swag there.
Yeah.
Like, he fits the Phillies.
Yeah.
Really does.
I think he'd eat up playing in that atmosphere.
So, yeah, Harrison Bader, go play center for the Phillies.
He's had a great year, hasn't he?
It's been a lot of fun to watch.
Yeah.
He's come on with the bat as of late.
He hit like four homers in a week and kind of up his numbers.
But he's, he's good.
He's been putting together good at bats.
And he's a dog, man.
Like, he's a real deal big leaguer.
Like, he's good.
Almost 10 years in the show.
Yeah.
Let's go.
All right.
This one is, this one's going to be interesting, I think, for a lot of people.
The catching position is not good offensively in this sport.
It's just not.
And there's two teams out.
West who desperately need help behind the plate.
And so I'm going to get one of them some help.
The Giants have like a 550 OPS from the catching position this year.
Only the Astros are worse.
And we look at San Francisco's got three pitchers that are in the All-Star game.
They made the huge trade for Raphael Devers.
It has yet to pay off handsomely.
But we all know that he's a very, very good hitter.
So anything that they can get,
additionally in that lineup can help them take what has been a very good run in the first half
and keep them around.
And they need this.
They need to make a move.
He's going to make $15 million each of the next three years.
Sean Murphy is going back west to the Bay Area.
Of course, he came from Oakland when they used to have baseball team.
Not sure.
I'm old enough to remember that.
I don't know if you guys are.
So I think he's heading out.
I know that San Francisco may be depleted themselves a little bit in the Devers deal,
but Buster Posey, more than anybody else in this sport,
knows what it means to have somebody reliable behind that dish.
So Sean Murphy, going to San Francisco.
It's interesting.
Anybody?
I want Sean Murphy to be traded.
I think it makes sense.
Braves fans get very defensive at that concept,
and I can't tell if it's just fandom,
or if it's like we can have Murphy and Baldwin,
and they're used to having two catchers.
I'm very much trade him.
And I think so many teams would be in and pay that price tag that I think it's a no-brainer.
But I can't tell from Braves fans if that's their heart or their brain.
Drake Baldwin is really good.
He's very, very good.
I know.
Some people will say, well, now you turn him into an everyday catcher.
Does he get exposed in some areas?
Maybe.
But so what?
You're dealing.
Find out.
Very few teams have really one good option.
offensive catcher, let alone two.
So why not deal it?
It's not happening this year, even though I said a month ago I thought it was going to happen.
It's not going to.
I like the idea of Buster Posey being like that shady dude who like anytime like a girlfriend
and a boyfriend have like relationship issues, he slides into the DMs.
That's like what he's looking for chaos on rosters and he goes and expose it.
I like that for him.
Wow. I thought you.
Oh, you have two.
Oh, you have two catchers.
and this young guy's taking over for the older guy a little bit.
And they're not really treating you right?
Come on over.
Okay.
I thought you might say Padres there.
You don't deserve that, baby.
I got nice crisp white socks on.
How about you?
Baby.
All right, I'm going to get gross in the back of.
Nice.
Like that.
Hi.
What's that?
There's some energy here, guys.
I like it.
Let's go.
Who ordered the pizza?
What the fuck?
It's a food reference.
Can I just pass my...
round after that just don't want to pick anymore.
Is there an intern that gave me some coffee?
There's got to be, right?
Jimmy was just here.
Like, I respect our intern.
Intern Jimmy was just here. That was crazy.
I think I'm also going to do a Giants pick.
Giants are fun.
Giants are fun. Giants need a first baseman.
Lamont Wade, that did not work earlier this year.
They got Dom Smith, my guy.
Yeah.
I'm in first base every day.
I don't know.
how hard they're going to be buying because Devers was a pretty big deal for them.
That's their first base one.
It's missing a lot of workouts at first base.
That's cute.
Will Clark hearing about that.
Why don't you go get a vet?
Why don't you go get someone who gets traded all the time who says,
if they pay, we will play.
Carlos Santana.
Carlos Santana is going to go over to the San Francisco Giant Switch hitter,
vet, a lot of experience.
Yeah.
I think it's a purely beneficial move.
It's a rental.
So if you want to reset the position after in the offseason, go for it.
Devers can train in the off season.
You don't have to make him do it mid-season.
I like Carlos Santana to the San Francisco judge.
So a couple things, having watched him every day for every three years, it feels like,
because he ends up back in Cleveland.
First of all, even though he's 39, he's an exceptional first baseman.
So you're good there.
He has been, he's, you're going to plug him in.
and he'll give you decent numbers at this point.
He doesn't move the needle a ton.
It makes sense from Cleveland's vantage point.
They've got a kid named CJ Kaffis,
whom they can bring up,
and he would play first base.
So from that standpoint, it would make sense.
I don't know how much it helps San Francisco offensively.
That's the one thing I worry about.
Low risk, low reward.
C.J. Kavis mentioned.
C.J. Kaffis.
You didn't have him?
Wow.
Okay.
Just remember the name.
We were all sitting here.
Yeah.
When C.J. Kaffis is doing nice things in the show and you just be like...
Do they, uh...
Bryce Eldridge?
Is that the giant super prospect?
I wonder if that's...
I wonder if that's Buster's next card.
I'm interested to see.
They should get someone.
Right.
To call on.
Great pick.
All right, Jake.
You're up for double dipping.
Maybe ass.
I, uh...
I, uh...
All right, I'm going to do one sexy pick, and then I'll do...
One not sexy pick.
My sexy pick, as I mentioned, a New York sports guy.
Jolly, what's the advantage your Mets have?
Overall?
Yeah.
That Jolly's a fan?
I'd say a very deep roster depth.
Sure.
How about those pockets?
Oh, yeah.
Sure.
They got deep pockets.
So you can take a chance financially and hope something clicks.
Okay.
Can Luis Robert get traded?
No, he's never going to get triggered.
He has to.
No.
He has to.
And if you're the Mets, I don't want to compare it to Javi Baez All-Star.
But Javi went to the Mets.
He kicked into gear for a couple months.
Take a chance.
And if it clicks, it's one of the coolest things ever,
and it's the outfielder you guys have been looking for,
and the lineup's crazy.
If it doesn't, all right, you tried.
And you, how many good white socks are there this year
that had to escape Chicago.
Yeah, isn't Andrew Vaughn?
Like, killing him?
Gavin Sheets.
Andrew Vaughan early returns.
Yomi-Gonzalez.
Yeah.
Clears right now.
It's a sexy pick.
I don't know how much I truly believe in it.
Try it out.
I've thought about it.
They have,
so they're working with Tyrone Taylor and Jose Siri right now
who are both defensive upside can't hit.
I just think bringing another one to the fold
that's like a questionable offense type
is going to be a tough sell.
But I agree.
If it does work,
every team should be making that move
because his contract is awesome
if he's the player that he was two years ago.
I just don't know if that's still there.
If you were to summarize
Luis Roberts' career at this point,
how great would it be?
It's one good season.
Yeah.
I think we keep expecting,
I think we keep expecting
if, if, then, then
contract, contract,
and it's just been,
yeah.
Well, that's where his,
His option years originally looked like nice.
Yeah.
Now they don't.
That again, a lot of teams wouldn't make that trade.
It wouldn't cost too much.
It would not cost too much.
Someone called him the Cuban Mike Trout one time,
and everyone lost their mind and has been thinking about that ever since.
How much war do you think he has in his career?
I'm looking at his page right now.
The number shocked me.
Oh, he's a 765 OPS guy.
I know.
I just didn't think he was that eye.
He's close to a Trevor Plouffe.
Okay.
Nobody called me the California, Mike Trout.
14.5 is the number.
946 OPS in 2021.
Everything else.
That's been, you know, he had a 2023.
2023.
Good.
All right, Jake.
2023's not too far away.
Okay, I'll be honest.
I want this guy in the Yankees and people don't know why.
And I've got some stats.
He's doing it.
He's doing it.
Go ahead, say his name.
Do you know?
Is this the third year in a row?
No, no, no.
I don't touch Rockies.
Okay, okay.
That's how I won last year.
Rockies are out.
This is my sexy, baseball loser sexy.
Mike Soroka.
Yeah, real sexy.
Wow.
Former All-Star Mike Soroka.
Put a little respect on it.
Still, age 27.
Yeah.
Wow.
And people are like,
why do you want Mike Soroka on the Yankees?
His numbers aren't good.
535 ERA this year.
The problem is Mike Soroka is a relief pitcher.
Masquerading as a starting pitcher right now.
Mike Soroka, I want him on the Yankees.
For this exercise, I am going to pick the Philadelphia Phillies.
I think the Phillies are a smart franchise.
I think the Phillies need bullpen.
He can pitch in a multi-inning role.
And, yeah, Mike Soroka this year,
a starter, his first time and second time through, first time through opponents have a 560 OPS,
second time through a 705 OPS, third time through a 1.1.1.5 OPS.
So let's not let him do that third time?
It's good I do.
Maybe not even the second time.
Mike Soroka for two innings, I think, can be a playoff weapon.
And my final piece of evidence on this, my cousin Vinnie.
Your Honor.
Trade
Trade uploading.
What is he even saying at this point?
Last year, he got kicked to the bullpen
and Mike Soroka was absolute nails.
Show pitching roll.
Here we go.
As a starter last year, Mike Soroka
and nine starts had a 639 ERA.
As a reliever last year,
16 games, 36 innings.
He had a 2-75 strike.
out 60 batters in 36 innings.
It's crazy.
If we only knew Mike Soroka, the reliever,
he'd be one of the sexiest pitchers this deadline.
Did you say Utes?
Okay, good.
15K per 9 as a reliever.
Yankees, go get him.
Someone go get him.
But you said Phillies.
I said Phillies.
They need bullpen and they're a smart.
They're a smart, well-run team.
Got it.
Jolly.
Yeah, I like that pick a lot, Jake.
That was a good one.
Or not, maybe it's don't know.
I still still your line.
I'm going to keep it gross.
You know what team we've sent nobody to,
who is going to be in the ALCOs?
Houston Astros.
They haven't sent anybody there, and that feels like a miss.
Okay.
They do have preseason ranked
to the second worst farm system in baseball.
So keep that in mind.
They have two great starting pitchers,
and then the game three ball is kind of up
in the air. So what is a low-cost move that they can make for a guy with having, you know,
a very surprising first half after not being on a team, signing to a team, and then pitching that
same day? Did you guys know that Adrian Hauser has a 1.56 ERA?
Yeah.
And nine starts for the White Sox.
Wow.
He's having, like, the best year of his careers.
Senor puke.
He's got three war in nine games, and he wasn't on a team in April and most of May.
I think the Astros can go get him, get some reliable innings in their back end
in because some of the starters, they're getting out there every fifth day
are not guys that I think they won out there in the October games.
I'm not saying that Adrian Houser is going to be the answer,
but I think he is a better option, and it definitely wouldn't cost them much.
And I just think I can see him in that uniform because he once wore that uniform.
He was involved in a trade, I think, like 10 years ago with the Astros for a guy named Josh Hader.
Yep.
So I'll send Adrian Houser back to the Astros.
a jolly olive video right there was
in person
so when you said we're going to
continue to get a little gross you really
did nail it with his big
it's good
do you want to talk about Kevin Correa
now do you want to get into it
can we talk about it you big league me for
six days
he's uh
Kevin Correa one of my favorite
teammates we had a fantasy football
team together named North Korea
Ah.
See, I knew you'd have something good.
That's good.
That's why I texted you.
Pooh is normal.
And how'd you do with that one?
Did you finish last like you did in this?
No.
What?
I think we did good.
I don't know.
That was a long time ago.
A lot of fantasy football teams.
That's why this episode is brought to you by North Korea travel.
North Korea travel.
They just opened up a beach.
I think it's for Russians only.
What?
For all of our listeners, go check that out.
That might be all gone.
I love when we talk politics.
All right.
Yes.
Do you remember when I just recently traded Sean Murphy to the Giants?
Yeah.
What did you say?
I thought you'd send them to the Padres.
Right, because.
They need help.
Yes, they do.
Catching situation is tough.
You doing a reunion?
I'm not doing a reunion.
Oh, Gary.
Gary.
Diaz and Maldonado have been just horrible offensively back there.
Just.
terrible.
So we're going to take a guy who is under control through next year.
We talked about teams having two good catchers.
Ryan Jeffers is staying put.
Yes, he is.
That's good.
I think that the Reds are going to get out of the Tyler Stevens.
I thought about it.
I thought about it.
Right.
Tavino's had such a good year for them.
And people say, hold on, hold on.
You know, we DH him sometimes.
he's still this massive human being, good guy.
All that is accurate.
But I think that you could get something,
and A.J. Preller cannot sit on his hands during the trade deadline.
He just, he doesn't care.
He does the whole, everything must go from the minor leagues at some point.
So I think the Reds can probably take advantage of that.
And the Padres definitely needs some help.
Now, he's not slugging at the way that he did last year,
where I think he had 19 homers.
like you get that out of your catching position, you're feeling great.
But I do think that Tyler Stevenson is heading west.
I like that.
San Diego.
I like it.
I think that's a good.
Some team believes in the upside.
The Reds can, I don't want to say sell on a high note, but there's been some ups and downs that.
Yeah.
I like it.
I think right now he's a sub-700 OPS, but he's shown it at times as long as he can stay healthy.
He's a big body.
Yeah.
nice kid though
I like him
bodies
all right Trevor
I got I got a couple
I'm gonna go
NL or excuse me
AL East here
ALE East heavy
where they're going
I am gonna put Ryan McMahon
on the Yankees
just because it's a fun pick
and we've talked about it
for three years
look at that
I don't know
obviously
the bat has not been
as good as the glove
this year but I think
I think he's in Colorado
you can't take
any stats seriously
for a team that's on pace to lose 130 games.
You just can't.
Guys are not showing up acting like this is the big leagues.
That's just the freaking truth.
So change is scenery is great for him.
That's my first pick.
Next pick, I'm going to go a little different here.
I actually like this one.
I stumbled upon it here.
At first glance, this guy, this is a starting pitcher.
His numbers don't look great.
Then you realize where he plays, and then you look at the splits.
Okay.
At home, not good.
12 games started at home.
He's got a 6-6-8 ERA, and that's gross.
But away, eight games started.
He's throwing to a 304.
Ooh.
A guy he's got post-season acumen.
He's already been in the ALE, so he's familiar with the division.
I'm sending Luis Severino to the Blue Jays.
Oh, okay.
Another contract kind of thing, too.
Okay.
He's got, yeah, he's got control, a player option through 2027.
And, yeah, we talked about, for the same reasons we talked about before.
There's a couple guys impending free agents there.
He could kind of bridge that gap.
And I think he needs, I think he needs to get out of the A's.
A's had to spend money so they're going to get let out of the revenue sharing program.
Now they can trade it away.
Good for me.
And he wants out.
Yeah.
Dude, can you imagine pitching there?
No.
Can I tap into the McMahon move for second?
Please.
Because whenever you're talking about a guy who spent his entire career.
in Colorado. You have to talk about splits.
8.13 OPS at home, 664 on the road. I'm not saying that it's not, we tap, dude,
we had this conversation every single time. Yep. It affects you when you go on the road as
well because you play your games in Colorado. You don't see the ball moving the same.
Then you go on the road, all of a sudden the ball's moving more. And it affects you.
I don't get them out of there, let them get acclimated to not having half his games in Colorado and
everything changes.
Okay.
I think in my defense,
DJ LaMayhew's splits before he came over to the Yankees were very similar to that.
Very different hitters,
but it's just the Rockies are just an interesting case study that I will crack as my retirement job.
We.
This isn't your retirement job?
I don't know.
I'm in debt.
I'm in debt.
I have one silver stock.
It's not doing great.
Oh, I want to have some fun with my picks.
And I don't know which direction to go.
All right.
I'm going to do a reunion.
I like reunion shows.
Okay.
Why not?
Let's do this one.
This weekend, I believe on Sunday I saw,
that the Rangers' DH first base combo was,
Alejandro Osuna and Ezekiel Duran, neither of whom had a 550 Ops.
There's no way in the world we all thought if the Rangers had an issue this year,
it would be their lineup.
But it has been.
So they traded Nathaniel Lowe in the offseason.
They are going to bring him back now.
You know exactly what you're getting.
Even though he hasn't had a great year, he's still going to give you mid-20s homers.
good solid first base will fit seemingly back in that clubhouse.
In fact, I think they need a little bit of like,
Nathaniel Loz is a goofy guy.
If you've spent any time with him, funny,
kind of an oddball sort of.
You think they're too serious in Texas.
I do.
I think their lineup, like you look around,
Seeger and Simeon are focused.
Like they're not the ha-ha-ha-ha sort of guys.
I think they need a little light.
And Jack Peterson hasn't been good.
or healthy.
And he can provide that.
But when you're not playing and you're not producing,
it's hard to be the,
all right,
guys,
follow me,
sort of D,
right?
Isn't that accurate?
Hard to be that guy if you're not producing
and you're not around.
You can't really be.
The one thing that Daniel Lowe is,
is dependable.
He shows up every day.
So I think it's,
and I think he's got another year left on his deal.
So we'll bring him back home.
I like it.
I like a real.
I thought about it, Rosie.
You did?
Yeah, because it's just fun.
Yeah, that's why I did it.
I might do some, I might do some reunions.
I think reunions, I think reunions are really funny.
I might be rounding off my draft with a couple.
Okay.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Why are you looking, man?
You don't want my picks.
I've got to guess that didn't look great on the camera.
It's a terrible picks.
You don't want them.
BPD says thumbs up.
That's strike two for you.
That's strike two.
Read that, Merseman.
Read Detmer's.
No, no way.
He's good out of the bullpen now.
I know.
And I shouldn't have picked two angels.
I regret it already.
The Padres need a starter.
There's still no timetable on Michael King.
They got four starters on their roster resource right now.
11 different guys have made a start for them this year.
That's cool.
I already sent them Merrill Kelly.
I'm not worried about that personally.
I think they'll buy a little lower than that because I do think their front-end guys are still there.
They got Udar, Vishnik Paveta.
I still believe in Don't.
and cease. I know he's had a really weird year, but I still think he's a good pitcher.
I haven't given up on him. They need some innings, though. And you know who kind of just always
ends up on a contending team in the thick of things? I feel like I see him in the playoffs a lot,
making big outings. Andrew Heaney. Andrew Heaney always ends up in a big spot. I think
they could use a leftie too. Yeah, they have four righties in their rotation now. They can use a
lefty. Andrew Heen dog is going to go to the Padres because the Pirates are selling. And I
just think he makes a ton of sense.
Someone already wrote it in for me.
Thank you.
I did that.
His case per nine are down this year.
Yeah.
But he kind of is who he is at this point in his career.
Yeah, except that where was it that he went?
Was it Texas where he went crazy?
He was out in Texas.
Yeah, he was a little nice years there.
Yeah.
I don't think they need that, though.
They should need anything.
All right.
Jake, your last two picks?
This is it.
This should be fun right here.
I have a team that I can't believe we haven't mentioned yet,
but it's because everyone, it's kind of a whole new world.
I got to give someone to my Dodgers.
Yeah.
And they're going to get pitching.
And we just kind of don't know what level of pitching.
I think I've stumbled into the guy.
He's a rental.
He makes a little bit of money,
but not any money that would make the Dodgers flinch.
And this guy has experience starting and relieving
and has some high upside.
How about Nick Martinez to the Dodgers?
Whoa.
The Reds are in it.
Kind of.
Back-to-back Reds.
Kind of.
He's, bro.
And I think the Dodgers aren't scared of a prospect price tag.
I think the Reds, oddly enough, have pitching depth that I think if you're the Dodgers,
you bring in Nick Martinez, he might start.
He might relieve, and he could do both for the Dodgers, and they could probably even tap into something more.
I like that aspect of it.
He's like a swing man.
It's great.
Thank you.
Come on.
Crowd goes nuts.
I'm going to chase some real slutty points at the end.
Actually, no, I'm not chasing points.
I'm going deep sea fishing just because, you know, why not?
Playing with a little house money from last year.
Two filthy options.
Chris Rose, there's bonus points in this for MVPs and Cy Young.
Yeah, I mean, if Sandy goes to Toronto, you're loving life.
You don't even believe it.
I'm, this would be, okay, I'm going to do this one because I do think it's more realistic.
Okay.
Chris Sail back to Boston.
Come on.
Hey, we're doing reunions.
What are we doing, though?
He's got an option for next year.
The Red Sox need high leverage pitching.
You just did the Nathaniel Lowe thing.
The Braves operate a little differently, right?
So, like, I don't know.
I obviously, I don't believe this one with the passion of just looking at these names and looking for what can be the weird Jeff Passon tweet that drops.
Chris Sale is going back to Boston.
Wow.
That's incredible.
I'll go for it.
Why not?
You should.
Why not?
I mean, we're here.
Why not?
Trade them von Grissom back.
I was going to say, that'd be great.
Grisham or Grissom?
Everyone gets mad when I say it.
I will say this.
Okay.
Robert Murray said Atlanta has not discussed sale.
and will not consider moving the left-hander or any player under control beyond 2020.
Can I tell you something about Robert Murray?
Yeah. Handsome.
Very handsome.
Hansome.
That was worried.
That was going to go.
Nice guy.
Handsome, nice guy.
Credit to me one time.
It was cool.
All right.
Are you a Bob Nightingale or Bob Nightingale Jr. guy?
I'm seeing.
I'm senior.
We'll wrap with that.
Jolly, your last pick.
Who is it?
Yeah.
Should I be stupid or should I be safe?
Yep.
Come on, stupid.
Plenty of room in that boat.
Let's be stupid.
I'm going to use your rationale for Luis Robert to the Mets,
but for a better player.
Oh.
The winner of the 2025 home run.
If you, no chance this is happening.
I'm telling you right now, don't do it.
Oh, yeah.
The Mets need an answer.
Oh, yeah.
The Twins, they don't want that contract on the.
the books, they're strapped for cash.
You know, you can take all that cash off your hands, Treve.
It's not a lot of cash.
It's not a lot of cash.
The New York Mets make a blockbuster move for Byron Buckson to take over in
centerfield.
You're going to be okay?
No, I just, they won't, they'll trade.
Hey, this is my pick, man.
I'm just, he asked.
That asked.
He asked.
Right, but opinions can change.
Maybe the Mets offer up so.
like a Godfather package.
You guys change your mind.
I don't know.
He's like,
I truly consider him
probably the only untouchable player.
We'll see.
Wow.
Like they would consider legitimately everybody else.
I don't know, Trev.
That's my pick.
It's a little silly.
That was fun.
We had fun.
Which is why I'm going to be boring as possible.
Oh, come.
Sorry.
Boo.
I have cleaned house on Orioles relievers.
Nice.
Except.
You do not have.
Another one?
For Andrew Kittrich.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yep.
Oh, God.
Philly's need as many arms as possible.
He has given up 11 earned runs this year, which sounds horrible, but three outings cost him eight of those runs.
So he's been really dependable, blown up three times.
So I like him.
I think we just keep sending guys to Philadelphia and I hope a few stick.
Because their window is, uh, feels like it's shutting.
And it's not going to cost you much to go get them.
So hi, Andrew.
Welcome to Billy.
Three Orioles, Bull.
It kind of feels like the intentional walk of this draft.
Yes.
I had Soto, Dominguez, and Kittridge.
Crazy.
Bitting a do to the Charm City.
Get hot Oreos.
Trevor, are we beefing?
No, no.
I'm happy you picked this is a zero burger for you.
Trevor's going to round.
I don't have a great, like, I want like,
cool thing to trade to end
Lindor to the Twins. Yeah, do something funny.
Come on, no. Lindor to the Twins. I don't want him.
We have a Brooks Lee.
Nice kid. That's a quote.
Great kid. Talking baseball quote.
No, no, no. Come on.
That's a really good one.
Like, nobody picked Jake Bird to go anywhere.
Rocky.
I had him going somewhere.
Yeah. Okay.
I almost did it.
I'm going to pick Jake Bird and put him on the Dodgers.
That's where I had him going.
There we go.
I don't know.
It's like a safe thing.
I know.
I'm trying to win this thing.
I got last last year.
Soft.
I think he's going to get traded.
Dodgers seem like, you know,
everyone could use a Jake Bird in their bullpen.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's good.
Did we cover all the teams?
Houston got one player?
I sent someone to Houston.
So we covered, I think, 13.
I think we had 13 teams picking up,
which is pretty good, to be honest with you.
Like, did we leave any team?
that feels like a definitive buyer out?
Oh, good question.
I don't think so.
It's hard to...
We sent someone to Milwaukee, right?
Like there's a possibility...
They're not definitive buyers.
You never know what they're going to do.
The raise didn't get...
Oh, the rays got Rine O'Hern.
Okay, that's nice.
Did we send somebody to Milwaukee?
We did.
Who did we send there?
Oh, we didn't.
We talked about it.
We talked about it, but...
Yeah, a lot of...
You chickened out.
We didn't.
Hey, they're good.
Yeah, they are going to answer.
somebody. Sorry, Milwaukee.
Yeah, they usually add someone.
Yeah. Well, that's our bad.
Let's see. Metz Yankees, Philly, no, we,
a lot of, a lot of the locked-in buyers we got.
Yeah.
Tampa and Milwaukee operate a little differently, being honest.
I did get Tampa in there.
Did we trade anyone from the Royals or to the Royals?
Yes. Estavis.
Okay.
From the Royals. Yeah.
Yeah.
We got to check out.
Because I think the three AL Central teams, like one of those teams,
could buy.
Cleveland, Kansas City, or Minnesota could buy.
Minnesota will be like the softest
buy you've ever seen in life. Right.
Or like a major sell.
They're going to trade
They're going to trade
One of
Like Willie Castro? Is he going to get traded?
He could.
Who plays center for them?
For whom? The twins.
Bader.
He just traded for him. I know. I just want to.
Like, is he available?
What?
Jesus. I can't believe we're
Here's what I would say.
Hey, when we are at the Homer and Derby today,
I'm going to tell Byron Buckson, don't talk to that.
That's crazy.
That's crazy.
I want to know the one person we left off the list that is definitely getting traded
and the one team that we missed out on.
Or you can give us your perfect trade.
That's perfectly fine, too.
You guys only talk about the coastal cities.
That's not true.
Hit the Midwest.
That's true.
We did hit the Midwest a couple times.
Taylor Rogers.
Maybe.
My other fun, half ridiculous one at the end, I was going to do Verlander back to Houston.
That's a fun one.
So he could actually get a win this year?
They need a couple of innings.
San Francisco swaps him out.
I don't know.
All right.
Well, this is always fun.
We got to wrap things up because we got to go do some All-Star stuff.
But you want to sign us off there, Sunshine?
Jolly.
Thanks for listening.
Subscribe.
Yeah.
Short scaring.
Thank you, guys.
