And then we won three games yesterday. So, you know, we played well. This is our last tournament. We're off for six weeks, coach. I'm going to get my weekend. Wow. Yeah. Red.

At one point, I mean, I went to a concert Thursday, but that was, before the show, Rufus, shout-out. And then I was tired and old from the concert, so that was Friday. And then Saturday I did something. I don't know, man. I watched a lot of ball. I watched my yanks a lot. That was fun.

Speaking of mopped and mogged. God. What does moog mean? Not sure. I think, like, steal attention from is what I fake have it as in my head. Like, you mug me. Like, if I'm in a room, you would walk in and try to mock. me. Let's talk

some ball. What did I do this weekend? I watched American League Baseball and I watched the New York Yankees get mopped and mugged by the Boston Red Sox kid. No's a bad strategy by the Yanks giving up six unurned runs in the first game. And they said, all right, let's mix it up.

How about we get no hit the next three games in the first four innings? One of them even went into the eighth. Sunny Gray. You played with him, Trev. He looks fantastic, mowing down the Yankees hitters, or this version of the Yankees, Peyton Toley, Jake Bennett, sure. Why not, dude?

Red Sox, a little sign of life in the Commonwealth? What did I do on Saturday? Yanks got mocked. The Astros almost mopping mog. They take three out of four from the Motor City, kiddies. Tat, Tatsu, yeah. He's starting to pull.

punch out double digits every time. I think I did what he does on Saturday. Astros, they put up some runs in those final games. Cater Montero, who told you first? That guy. That guy tried to tell you. Carrie Jesus was a carpenter with the Grand Salami. We're down 3-0. We're up. That was big. And man, Issoc Perettis is showing up all over the Christian Walker with the big game. Houston, these AL West standings, watch out people. The Seattle Mariners dropped two out of three to the Cleveland Guard Dogs,

a couple tight ones. The Mariners win that first game. Colt Emerson, bus out of a two-week slump. That's tough, Dalt, but I like it. I like it. Slaid Saccani was dominant in that middle game. Randy did his best, but it was not enough. As Cleveland gets to say, we got some jawing in that one, a lot of amateur lip readers out there.

We're going to have to check with the big guy to see what's going on with Hedges and Naylor. Not talking Chris Rose. White Sox take two out of three from the Royals, and sadly, that's obvious. How's your 22 burger on Friday night? My goodness, like the holidays, everyone's coming home. Game two, Michael Waka looked fantastic, that high right-on-right change-up. What do you do with that? Not much, but when the White Sox have the magic.

Oh, Treff takes that up top. Excuse me. Jacob Gonzalez walk off. Royals avoid the sweep. I don't know what it means. Carter Jensen's hot? Great. Nationals take two out of three from the Baltimore birds.

Tight games, close series. Luis Garcia Jr. Wait. Little teaser, he's in Fuego. Because he is going nut job right now. two homers in that final game as they take the Beltway series. You know Foster Griffin shoved. That's just a regular, just AI that is a regular update for this show.

The A's and the Angels played. Where were you? The Angels take two out of three. Are the halos getting hot? Is it the right time of year? And that ALE West, maybe it is. The A's won that first game as they erupted on Walbert Urania in the fifth inning. But then it's all Halo's late.

Joe Adele. See where. Jonah Haim hit a baseball this weekend? My goodness. Sam Aldegheri, my Paizan, five innings of one-run ball. We're not going to talk a lot about that. What we will talk about, those Minnesota Twins and the Colorado Rockies, if you like, baseball's getting bludgeoned. Those first two games, nine, eight, and ten innings as the twins walk it off. Cody Clemens, rock it in the booth. How do you like that on Sunday night? Hunter Goodman deserves to be talked about. Because he had three home runs in that second game.

Like they're starting pitching, I always have. Wilson Contreras is a freaking maniac. 48 and 35 for your Yanks. 39 and 45 for the Blue Jays. I thought they were going to get hot. I thought that was going to happened. No. No. Baltimore, 39 and 46. Boston, 36 and 46 in the NL, or the, excuse me, the AL East, in the central. Cleveland won't go away. We keep talking about the White Sox. Oh, hey, what a story.

This is the, Cleveland's right there. Forty-three and 39 for the White Sox, 44 and 40, tied at the top of the division for both of those teams with the guard dogs in the White Sox. My Twins, four and a half back, 40 and 45. The Tigers. 35 and 49 and the Royals 35 and 50 and then out west this is just another shit show 42 and 42 for the Rangers there at the top of the division

half game up on the Mariners were 42 and 43 the Astros half game back of that 42 and 44 the A's 40 and I can never tell if the A's are playing well or playing I don't it's day by day I guess I love I love

Law Dog 40 and 44 for them 36 and 49 I didn't really want your take right there for the Angels in the American League wild card. Your yanks would have the top spot. Then Chicago or Cleveland would have the second spot and then the Mariners hanging on to the third spot. Half game back. The Houston Ash shows. One and a half. The athletics. Two games back. My twins, Toronto, even though they just got mopped. Two and a half games back. Baltimore three. Boston, four and a half all of a sudden. And that's where. all leave it because the other teams don't get to get mentioned.

Not until you're above five games close to the wild card. Those are the standings in the American League. Jake, now I do want some of your opinions on the ball. Thank you, Trev. Magnificent job. Every team is Boston played with some Vim and Vigur like their season was on the line, and the Yanks didn't really have that

where they almost somehow sneak out that last game on a wheelier, a Brayu throw, which that's insane. I think this story is the Red Sox pitching, 11 straight consecutive quality starts. They've got those four young talented lefties. And then the other guy is Sunny Gray, who shows he can still drop it on any of you when he wants, that if they are going to, this is it, Trev,

because you're right, like, you look at the A.L. standings, and sadly, I shouldn't say sadly, that was my Yankee showing. They're kind of not dead. They have to keep it going. The best way to keep it going in baseball, as you know from your Twinsdays is when the starters get hot and everyone just keeps hand in the ball to each other.

They're doing that right now every night. Yeah, I mean, that's the biggest thing to me. I got some more on their pitching staff coming later, but it's so interesting because it's so left-handed that sometimes I think that's a fault, but it doesn't really matter. As long as you're getting the job done. And I do think, like there is,

and they haven't performed this year really, but I do think there, is okay I'm going to take this back actually I wanted to say like I believe in the offense more than maybe it's shown because there are there are flashes of this offense that can go it has not been there this year but I think maybe this series we saw the best version of the red socks without garro crochet without Roman anthony because if they do pitch like that they don't need to score a ton of runs but they have the ability to do that wills Contreras is a freaking animal dude I talk about A great pickup right there.

Right now sitting at three war, almost a 900 OPS sitting right at 898. He's an absolute menace. And in like the worst yet best way possible, like if he's on your team, you absolutely love him. 17 homers on the year already, 50 runs driven in. Like this guy's having an incredible season. And if you're talking about like hanging in, if you're the Boston Red Sox, he's like probably the biggest reason why you're hanging in there. Yeah. And it was funny talking to some Red Sox fans.

this weekend because we do talk injuries with a lot of teams like, hey, remember how good Trevor story was for them last year, driving in runs and playing shortstop? I mean, Roman Anthony was supposed to be like the guy, guy in baseball this year. Like his WBC story was building up for him to become a superstar in this game. If you wanted, you could go to the rotation and do crochet and Crawford and Hauke and Oviedo and Sandoval. Don't have to.

This team's had a decent amount of injuries. The pitching is there. It still is looking at that. offense and wondering, can it get hot? Can Caleb Durbin stay as hot as he's been? Because he has been out of his mind. Can Jaron Duran, someone we've seen put up an eight war season in this league? Like, they need more offense. Wilson Contreras felt like he had a chance to put it together like a righty at Fenway, like not catching anymore, playing first base. And that has happened. I'll be interested to see. I can't. I'm not going to start.

believing in the Red Sox yet just after four games against the Yankees that are a limited version of the Yankees right now. Like this isn't, this isn't there a squad. Not making excuses. It's a long season and you got to roll the ball out there and play. In my sicko, I'll give some sicko Yankees fantasy for the people. The Red Sox are about to play the Nationals. I hope the Nationals score 20 runs a game against them. So that's where I'm out. Okay. Yeah. I'm a Yankees fan. I'm a Yankees fan. say Anthony Siegler's name one time, former Yankee. You know I like some Anthony Siegler.

He's got, I think we talk about T and some H&H and some F and F. He's got all that in there. You know, we also talked about Red Sox, oh yeah, they're going to sell their, their tradable pieces. But then we came to the conclusion that Craig Breslow can't do that because, like, this is like possibly his swan song. Like he's got to get back in the race or else he's gone. So he can't.

So maybe this is, you know, you could say, It's four games and the Yankees, their C squad, whatever it is. They freaking won four games. They went and lost a series in Colorado, a bad series in Colorado. I believe they didn't get into like super late before the first game of the series.

And so it could have snowballed on this team. Instead, four games in a row against the Yanks. It's about as good as it gets for the Red Sox. I mean, this is the happiest Red Sox fans have been all year. Easily. Clay Buckelts having a couple beer makers with Breslo up there. Why not? Where is Roman Anthony?

They just transferred him to the 60-day I-L. I'm not sure. Marcelo Mayer goes on the aisle before this series after kind of, you know, a lot of finger pointing on that last year. He pointed his own finger at himself. Shout out to Suu Che Chang out there at shortstop. bopping and doing his part. Yeah, hey, Red Sox.

And I think it's where Benetti ended the broadcast. He's like, hey, that city, similar to New York, they'll rally around you if you give them something to rally around. This weekend could be a start from every data point they showed us before this weekend. It hasn't been that. But hey, if you go now, there's still time in this American League, which is disgusting. Yeah, I mean, they've been horrible at home, too,

so what four at home is... Okay, that's good. I got more red socks. He's got more red socks. Then let's keep it moving with some of these AL powerhouse. Oh, the Astros and the Tigers. Hey, the Astros got a chance this year, right? The Tigers have the easiest walk to the playoffs.

Doesn't look like it. Houston is kind of charging in what this American League has turned into. It's been a Tatsuya on my show from the... start and he's been showing us why. Three straight starts, double digit ponches, although we debated, can you only get a ponche if it's looking? Isok Paredes has been hot. Houston, Josh Hader's back. Again, some of the things have actually, there's been material change with Houston, and it's

leading to more wins and more activity in an AL West that is wide open coach. that's not how you use that although I think there was a material change in this in the series of I'm not mistaken a lot of a late inning rallies for the Astros and yeah look look if they can if they can get some pitching if Tatsuki am I the experience goes well like they're going to score runs like this offense can do it Walker has been great Cam Smith has been great like they can do that it's all about can we get that starting pitching on her brown back Getty's been getting touched up. He was like, he was the one keeping him in the, the season early on. He's just been getting bludgeon to death over the last, I think it's like five starts in a row for him that have not gone well. I do have more on this series coming up as well. But the Astros right there.

I just read the standings pop. I mean, not only in the wild card of the half game out, but only one game, one game back in the American League West, too. I mean, they, I think they have been the beneficiary of this slow AL start, maybe more than any team. Because when this team does get fully, fully going fully healthy, I still think there's like a, I don't want to call it a championship quality ball club there. But certainly one like you could, you could be scared to face because they do like, here's what I think about the Astros. I think there's a lot of teams in the AL that feel this. same way to me.

Like, they have, not a lot of teams. I was thinking about the rays in general, but the rays are kind of in a different thing. Offensively, when you have a guy like Yordon Alvarez, you can win any series. You truly can. And then you got guys around him too. So the decently long lineup for the Astros. You're right, you got Haterback, back in the bullpen, kind of shoring itself up.

And then where do you go from there? You get five innings out of a starter. You're going to start to win series with that offense. back into the bullpen. I'm, it's kind of like not surprising the Astros are where they're at. It's not. Yeah. He didn't healthy at the right time.

Hater, what was it? Is he eight for eight now and save appearances after that final game? And yeah, Trev, they, Houston has the best record in baseball since May 20th. So that's over a month now. The Houston Astros have been playing the best baseball. And you landed the plane there. Houston, yeah, I don't think you can hang your head. had on like champion pedigree.

But you can very much say like, that's a team you don't want to see across from you. When it's the seventh inning and Altuve steps up, if it's the eighth inning and Yordan steps up, they still have a little bit. If it's the ninth and Hader comes out, those are guys that have seen some real shit out there that, yeah, they do have an argument for biggest winners of the week AL first half so far. Taylor Tremel turning on baseballs. Whoops.

I'd be remiss not to mention your Don leading all of baseball in on base, Slug, OPS, OPS, Plus, and a bunch of other statistics. I don't even know what they mean. That's good. That's pretty good. A little tiger stuff coming later. Their defense hurts them, which has hurt them all year. There's going to be a lot of scuba talk, maybe even a little bit on our special midweek episode coming this week.

Watch out. Trev said a lot of M words this episode. Mop and Mug. We think we know what the second one means. The other team that in your standings leads the American League West, the team that torments me the past few years now. It is those Texas Rangers. And we got a little bit of all of it.

We got McKenzie Gore looking nails. How's your backdoor cutter? The Rangers, big first inning in that second game. And Avaldi with seven shut. Corey Seeger is back. I hate to say this because I've been the guy waiting for Texas to go. Wyatt Langford had two of the best weeks in baseball. And now he goes on the IL for four to six with a hammy.

So that's a massive blow. But hey, at least Texas Rangers fans, it's June 29th. You're in first place, kind of. You are. You are. I mean, this series is kind of what, I mean, obviously they win four games. so you're excited about. But this series to me is what I think a lot of Rangers fans expected coming into the season.

Like starting pitching lead, offense kind of chips away, does its thing. You look at what McKenzie Gore did. Obviously, quality starts, seven-eatish pitch, three-runs, and runs. And Iovaldi is just an absolute dog. Still probably one of my favorite pitchers to watch in all the baseball. Seven shuddy, Calquantral filling in, four innings, no runs. And then Kumar, I mean, they need the guy. at the back of their rotation to go.

They did this series. And again, you mentioned it. Yeah. It's just up, kind of up and down the lineup for them, which when I saw them play, the twins was not the case. They were not getting the job done. But in this series, they did. Justin Foskey, we mentioned him. You love him. Interesting name.

A couple homers this series, I'm pretty sure. Sure. Chuck Peterson still doing his damn thing, which is awesome to see. Start the game? Why not? 11 pitches? Huge a bet for. him in game one seven pitches

off foul seven pitches off before hitting the 11th pitch 4202 foot homer they also had a a pinch run scoring on a wild pitch from second base with Kelnick Skip Shoemaker has a great talk about that

the bench coach says we got to run for him puts in Jared Kellnick which is really he's just bounced around a ton love it for him just an all around great series for the Rangers and they needed it They needed it, coach. Rangers rotation showed up. The Texas Rangers, they are 32 and 10 this season when they score first.

So I don't know. I'll add that to our manager binder. And yeah, this AL West has a, it has a chance to be very fun. Like you mentioned the athletics briefly who are still in the mix here. There's four teams in the mix that we all thought had a chance to be in the in a way that that sounds cool. The brand of baseball just has to be a little better. And yeah, I'm a little spurned by Lankford getting...

If Lankford didn't get hurt there, I think I'd be slamming the table and be like, this is why I stood by the Texas Rangers. This is what they've been waiting for the past three years. And by the way, the last time the Texas Rangers mugged the Blue Jays in Toronto, 2023. And they just won the whole damn. thing. Oh yeah, they did do that.

How do you like that? I know who's thrown in double A for them that I was looking at before this? Jordan Jordan Montgomery. Okay. Firing it up. Dalton just threw up bad diamond backs. Yeah, that was not a great yeah, they didn't like that. Ended bad. I did see, you know, speaking

of, we'll talk about the Blue Jays a little bit. Vlad struggling, not hitting for power. I saw an NLB network, Albert Poole's breaking down the swing a little bit. Talking about a little bit too much of movement up there with the hands where he's getting too long. There's some sort of mechanical adjustment needed.

I mentioned it. It just didn't look like the lower half was working either. Like he was closed off, couldn't get the hips through. Some Blue Jays fans have mentioned he's dealing with a back issue, whatever it is. It's something that needs to get fixed and fixed quickly for Toronto. And hey, as we're talking dead or alive, Toronto Blue Jays are two

games ahead of the Boston Red Sox. So the Red Sox that it felt like their whole seat, leaving Colorado, it felt like their season went as bad as possible. After four games against the Yankees and after the Blue Jays play four games, they are, they're two games apart.

So yeah, zombie Red Sox, that's a horrifying, that's a horrifying phrase. Six straight losses swept in the third time in 2026 for Toronto. Yikes. I just want to, This is a great note by Dahl.

After Gore gives up that Homer, the three-run bottom fifth in game one, 19 consecutive scoreless innings for the Rangers rotation. That's how you do it. That helps. So you get the early leads. Oh, so that's how Texas and Boston modged. Starting pitching, not allowing anything.

That's smart. Why is it that you just, if you score first, it's just so good for your demeanor. And it just feels so good. It's true. There's got to be. some, right? There's got to be some actual, A, you have, you have a run on the board, which is conducive to winning, but also you're just like, runs on the board or runs on the board.

They stay on the board. They don't come off. But you probably play more relaxed. It's nine innings. You're like, okay, we got the lead in the first that matters. Why would that even matter? But it does. It does. I don't know. I, uh, I do think it's one of the, some football for you and Dahl because we're, what, 11 Sundays away? I think, I think Scott Hans put out his signature tweet. I'd say there's two or three football games a year where you see a defense just like fly around and they're like, yeah, like we were relaxed.

We knew if we did our thing, we were going to kill them. And we did. Yeah, there's something to play in sports relax. If you feel good and you're confident in what you're doing, okay, Jake, shut up. Mariners in Cleveland. I just send a picture to the group show. You mentioned football.

I mentioned Carter Jensen's hitting streak. that's kind of cool and hopefully something you can build on probably sadly towards next year. White Sox last 30 at home 24 and 6. Whoa.

Again, this is almost, dude, this is almost like a copy pace of Royals White Sox a little bit. You got the middle game that comes down to the United States. the wire and the team that has been winning this year, the Nationals, goes on to win, where the team that the Orioles that can't get the train out of the station, they lose it. we've mentioned Foster Griffin a ton. He was great. 112 pitches in that game. And then you get the go-ahead single off Helsie with Dale and Lyle and then you get my guy Justin Lawrence in their bases loaded in the bottom half. I watched this guy not be able to throw a strike for the twins.

Like literally couldn't throw a strike. Nice guy. Like him. But when he came in, it was like, dang. Like this, we're not like really going for it. That's how it fell when he was in. And here he gets Basile to ground out to win that second game. And then it was the Luis Garcia Jr.

And it's been the Luis Garcia Jr. show for the better part of what? I don't even know, like a month and a half. Yeah, he's a little tease. he will be on Enfuego because it's crazy what he's been doing. Yeah, I mean, I'm, you know, no offense to the Orioles. If Justin Lawrence feels like a guy when he lands with the Brewers or the Dodgers, we're going to be like, oh, crap, look at this freak.

But it hasn't worked out for him. And yeah, man, two of the last Orioles losses, like this one in extras, and then going back to last series against the Angels, in this American League where we're getting ourselves hyped about the Red Sox right now, if those two losses were wins, which they easily could have been, like the Orioles would be basically a game out of the playoffs right now, and we'd be like, oh, baby, is it happening in Baltimore? And just hasn't.

And it kind of hasn't been with a lot of these teams. Trevor Rogers' last five starts. So basically every start in June has been nasty, 205 ERA. I wanted to shout him out. He wins that first game. But yeah. That's good. That's real good. A's Angels, we're hitting that time of year, Coach Trev.

So if there's a dude you want to highlight, now's the time. He's got to Robert Urania, who's been the best starter for the angels. I thought we were going to step in front of the mics today, and it was going to be, well, Milwaukee played close games, and that's what they do, and they win the series. The Cubbies who were in the bad place for so long win a series, and they got it, you know, they fired Mendoza, basically.

This could be big for the Cubbies. We've talked so much about their injuries. Their lineup had that look in their. eye a little bit. I know that's some real advanced scouting from me, but they were like, hey, we need to lock the fuck in. And they kind of did, man.

This was a big week in the Cubs season. Love me some say as Suzuki. Just continues to get the job done. First of all, takes Mizorowski up top in game one. I know they end up losing that game, but I mean, I guess we should talk a little Mizorowski. Some of those, like the cutter, I think is the nastiest pitch.

You know, these guys like waving at it, like it's into the left-handers batters box for these right-handers. I almost think I'd rather just swing and miss and be done with it than make contact. That feels like it would hurt to even make contact with that pitch. Interesting. Yeah, this guy's an absolute nut, dude. Absolute nuts. Not fair to strike PCA out on that pitch after throwing 105.5 earlier in the bat,

then you break them off with a curveball to end it. Anyways, go Brewers in the first game, but then it was the Cubs after that. man you weather a Kyle Harrison start then get to the bullpen and Ian Hap with obviously a freaking huge knock three run Homer into right because of course he's a study you said he was in LA 10 I didn't say he was in LA 10 I said I said he was Pittsburgh tough in LA hot I will so I'm gonna I'm gonna retract my my stink face when you said that because what people LA he'd do great in LA I mean yes he would do great in LA Oh, I'm a pro ball player, lots of money, and I'm a businessman.

Good looking. That's exactly what thrives out here. Check, check, check. Yeah. Short, funny. And yeah, and then, you know, and then in the final game, getting into extras there,

you know, the Cubs are able to do it, man. Gary Sanchez with a chance. Ends up hitting into the double play, ball in on his hands. Nice turn. I don't know, man. I still think Milwaukee's the better overall team. Sure.

I still think the Cubs are going to need to be searching for pitching. But for a series, they went and took care of business. And, you know, the Cubs fan showed up. Like, after this game ending double play, man, they were going nuts there. I was going to say there was a lot of, I'm not calling out the beautiful people. Okay. This will get us in even more trouble. San Diego?

A lot of Dodger fans. in the building. A lot of Dodger fans in the building. I mean, it's, again, we're talking about these rivalry games. Like, there's, guess what? There's Yankee fans in Boston. They just didn't have anything to cheer about. But yeah, there was a couple final plays that I looked back.

Because the Dodgers, did they have a game-ending double play or something? And people, they did. Moody bets. Yeah, yes, you looked in the stands and it was like, oh, shoot, there's a, that blue pops. That blue pops. Cubs win their first one-run game in Milwaukee since 23, so that checks everything out.

And I'm glad you shout out, say, man, that guy has been an absolute rock for the franchise. This could have been, man, the Cubs are down bad. You know, brewers have bases loaded in the last inning, nobody out. And again, like, you know, Wix gets out of it. But, yeah, I don't know what I'm trying to say. Good job by the Cubs getting out of that.

It could have been a completely different series if they just come through when usually they would. I feel like the Brewers are a team that usually comes through in that situation. They didn't this time. Again, I think my point is, still like the Brewers a ton here, but for a weekend, Cubs on top.

I'm very curious to see what the hell they do with the trade deadline. Their chips are already pushed in. You can't take them back out of the pot. So I feel like they need to continue to be aggressive, right? Keep pushing. Why wouldn't you? And hopefully you get some guys healthy. The Cubs, like I mentioned, great last week.

They also have some off days coming up, which the way they're juggling their pitching, that can be really helpful. And yet, the Brewers were brutal with runners in scoring position. Some of their starting pitching stats are still insane. Let's see. Oh, they're about to play Cincinnati for four, which if listeners of our show remember the Brewers in Cincinnati Reds history, Yeah, watch out for that.

Cubby's Padres this week. That might be a little, that might be a little, that might be a little, that might be a little flipperoon. Don't say flipperoon. I mentioned Dodgers Padres. His name is Mooky Betts. He is back in a big way. And him and Freddie, both over the past two weeks,

are one dotting and back in the formula. That massive inning in game two, you know, the Padres win the first game. We're playing some good ball here. They put up a nine spot. One, one game. turns into 10-1, and then the Dodgers continue to push it to win the series. Shout out Walker Bueller.

A nice start game one. I think you give you have a home run to Mookie Betts, I believe it was. And then after that, kind of settled down. He's been great for him. And that's got to be an interesting start for Walker Bueller, right? Like, going up against your boys, gets the job done, though. They win that first one. You mentioned Dodgers got after it.

And then, yeah, it was basically what? It was a Freddie Freeman walk and a Mookie Betts knock. to get the job done against Michael King and the Padres in game three. You're right about the double play to end the game there. That was a nice one reminiscent of a lot of people were saying. World Series. World Series. Yeah.

And then Emmett Sheehan. Nice bounce back start for him. So I guess you could say Dodgers very resilient after, you know, it's a hostile environment. You mentioned there was a bunch of Dodger fans there, but going down in the San Diego. lose the first game, but come back and take the next two. Yeah, Mookie Betts back in a big way. Although, what do you think the Dodgers record is

down in San Diego? We got people for that. In my mind, I just said it's a hostile environment, which I guess it can be. Right. But I don't feel like I have the Dodgers like getting like any sort of like bad record down there in San Diego. Okay. We'll get some stats and info on.

Yeah, need it. Need it. Let's kind of wrap up the West. Sorry, Diamondbacks. The Giants and the Braves, which is somewhere we landed last episode and we're like, oh, maybe this will be good for the Braves because the Giants have been on the struggle bus this year. Well, they kind of ran, well, they ran into Logan Webb, who's back to looking like Logan Webb. And Raphael Devers, who I, sometimes I question myself defending him as much as I do.

He is a guy that can run very hot and cold We've seen in a lot of ways He is on a heater right now It is funny, his career Giants' stats When you remember that he used to play at Fenway And now he plays in San Francisco Like OPS plus-wise, Raphael Devers, the Giant, isn't that far off

Than what he was on the Red Sox It was just playing at a hitter's park Versa pitchers park And the Braves are They're having their first struggle That you know, as we talk about Where the Phillies are in the standings that means the Braves had to come down to Earth

and it's kind of for the first time this year they have. That Devers one that he just hooks is insane. What is that? Weird swing. Weird swing. It's a cricket swing. Yeah. Juan Soto had a swing like that. Going down and getting it.

How does that go out? My goodness. Did the barrel pop? Just put it on the barrel. Braves' offense hasn't been good. They're scoring under three runs a game. It's bad for me. Since June 10th.

Not going to win a ton of games doing that. Logan Webb, you mentioned, not feeling good, still dominant. He does this thing. Giants bullpen good in game two, perfect eight and nine for Homes and Hensches, good for them. And then that last game, yeah, they kind of hold off the Braves who kind of were booting the ball around, pretty uncharacteristic for them. And that's how you lose series. You boot the ball around. You're not scoring runs.

You're going to start to lose series. And like we mentioned, man, Philly, three. game is back. It's nuts to me. I thought they were going to win that. I thought the Braves were going to go on and win the division by 10 games, dude, and just has not played out that way. Yeah, it happened quick. The Phillies got going. That's ahead of Schmidt. Philly's 18 and 6 in one-run games this season. So, whoa, that's a crazy number. And the first team in MLB history to go from 10 games under 500 in April to 10 games over 500 before July. So, yeah, I don't know if it was the managerial change. I don't know if it's all those alphas looking at each other, but they have fully, they've basically completed the turnaround.

Like it was getting to 500 and then it was where are we going to go and they've continued to go. Trey Turner showing some signs of life like the Phillies, are they going to, is it going to be a catch the Braves by the All Star Game type bit in Philadelphia this year? Whoa. I can't wait to see Philly fans. I'm excited.

Mets are on the opposite end of the spectrum, lost eight of their last nine games. They had to fire their management. everyone is down bad. Still, you know, Soto and Lendor played 12 total games together or something like that. You could point to that or you could just say

this season's a disaster. And I think most people are saying that. I think a little of both. I think a little of both. Ray's sweep the debacks again. Sometimes it's weird when we do a national league and you're like, wait, what's this? The raise took first place in the ALEs again.

We talked about that a little bit. Junior Camerero is on a full-blown heater and I was, again, when you're homering, the way he's currently homering, where that can bring your OPS. But just like a reminder, the race who, you know, best record in the American League, going back to World Baseball Classic Times, junior Camero, he's still 22, Pop. He's got 22 homers this year. Yeah, maybe you don't love some of the third base defense,

but when you're on pace for your back-to-back 40 homer seasons, as he turns 23 in a couple days, July 5th. So, like, this guy's an absolute freak show. And the snake's rotation didn't have it or the second half of their lineup. No, Zach Gallen, he's down bad again. This actually was like not even a bad start for him, the way things have been going. Ends up pitching into the seventh, gives up five earned runs.

And, you know, obviously, Penn Bay Rays can throw the ball. We can't talk enough about Rasmussen and what he's been able to do. Another shutout start for him. Yeah, I think it, for the, for the debats. I got to watch Jose Cabrera make his major league debut. He shut my twins down for five innings. He gives up four here, but I mean, you're not going to win with those starting lines. And that's been a big problem for them.

Gallin gives up five runs. Cabrera gives up four runs. Merrill Kelly gives up five runs and six innings. And you're right. Junior Camerro, it's been a three-person party for that raised offense for a long time. Camerrero looks unstoppable. I think it's the prettiest right-handed swing, him and Bob, shed or my two.

So I'm going for that in baseball. But don't sleep on Ryan Vallade. You know, the bats are starting to get there. We're like, okay. So it's become a four-person party down there on the Tampa offensive side. But this is a little bit, and no offense, dull, because I think my twins aren't very good either. It's kind of a good team bad team.

He's the tough is on his D-backs easily. He's very scared about the pitching. They just dropped to under 500, 41 and 4. 42. Caminero, only him and Carlos Pena, seven homers in six games in Ray's history. So that's pretty impressive. Tied for most by a hitter, age 22 or younger, Bryce Harper in 2015, Willie Horton in 65, and Book Powell in 64, 463 feet on one of them, special player. And hey, as we're looking for what matters in the American League, the raise, 31 and 12, at home. That's the best record in the AAL.

So those white socks who are also incredible at home. Yankees tradition of using that porch. Maybe that can be the interesting storyline as the AL starts to take form. Trev, the final two National League series. I mentioned the Reds on the way through. One Aeuhaneo Suarez swing

changes how this series looks at the end, even though there's... Two swings, really, because it would be the first game, Nueve Marte, with the big pinch hit two-run home. or in the 8th to get to win on the Paul Skeens Day, then yeah, you mentioned freaking, you know, in the rain. I don't even know how this ball got out. Dude, so every home run in this game,

the righties that went opposite field, you see them off the bat and you're like, I don't think so. And they went. So I'm guessing there's literally a storm going on. I'm guessing the wind was blowing out pretty hard there because all three homers that I watched land in the right field bleachers in this game, I was like, oh, God, we're just putting it up in the jet stream.

Yeah, this is Pirates fans' worst nightmare. It's what they've been saying all season long. The bullpen, you're giving up games to a team that you probably should beat. There's nothing worse. There's nothing more deflating for a fan base and for a team than to give up runs and cough it up late. And they did that twice in this series. And they're kind of at that point now where it's like, okay, where do they go? What do they do?

I think you just have to keep going. Connor Griffin, obviously, is back, so that helps. But you've got to do something with that bullpener. You're going to continue to see this. I actually like Montgomery. It was the shit out of the ball. Yeah. Homer's like that ain't going to help.

Reds improve to 4 and 17 against NL Central teams this year. So that's shocking. If they were 500 in their division, they'd be one of the best teams in baseball, and said they've been the opposite of that. You know there's some S. Merlin Valdez, more news and notes coming. which you look at the rotation and you keep bringing up the bullpen. They're waiting for a hot streak, and I did get excited for this the other day. at the Philly All-Star House episode and stuff like that. Like there's a team that will march on the scene with a strong lead into the All-Star game, and I like that every year. Oh, I thought you were going to give us an example of a team he thought was going to do it. It's probably not going to be the Pirates because I got their schedule up for entering the All-Star break.

Philly's Nationals, Braves, Brewers. It's not what you want. Not what you want entering the All-Star. Depends what braves you're getting Yeah, I still, I remember one of the, what was it? Our final team that Trev, I'll let you, I'll let you chef because I have a guy from this series as my standout performance. The hottest team in baseball, it's the Miami Marlins. it's insane. Nine versus one, put that on a shirt. These Marlins are hitting and relentless, and when they get pitching, they don't lose. And I guess we've said that for a few teams now.

But they're different, man, 18 and 6 in June. They've won 7 of 8 series. Yeah, whatever you see. They have the best starting pitching year, and all the baseball this month, and that's going to get you wins. And as you mentioned, when they get the lead, They continue it here.

The Cardinals scored three runs the entire series. I mean, that's how you take two out of three right there. Max Meyer has been incredible. I don't know who you're talking about from this series, so I don't want to spoil it. I think it's Max is Max Meyer. Okay. So if you scroll down a little bit, you'd see that.

I'm just looking at the series right now, man. Well, that's why I want to talk about him. So we will. I guess the little Cardinals on the way out. I guess if you're a Cardinals fan, maybe you're a little scared. Cardinals, 43 and 38 at the halfway point. They were 44 and 37 last year, which doesn't feel real. And then they had a, they very much limp to the finish line.

So that never is great for me when I'm talking about do I like the guy or not. Usually that's a bad start. But again, bad 2025. And then I saw some videos of him throwing in, you know, whatever performance lab that he was in.

And he was just like throwing the crap out of the ball. But it was like, you know, balls high in a way. He was throwing hard. But he was, it was, it just didn't look great. And he was like screaming after it. And I was like, oh, man, I really don't like this guy. I just, I just don't. Of course, I don't know them.

So that's not fair of me. That's like, you know, you can't do that. See some guy on the internet and say I don't like him. But I did it. Right. And I'm admitting it right now. That's, you know, I need, maybe I need to work on myself a little bit. Because Peyton Tollie and I didn't start our relationship out great.

He doesn't even know who I am. No. But I pass judgment on him because of an off-season video. Here it is. He's in a controlled environment. Throwing seeds, by the way. But, like, you know, this, you know I don't like this type of thing. Correct.

And in a vacuum, this behavior's tough. Just, you know, ball up out of the hand. I don't know. So it didn't start off well for me. But then you start to watch this guy pitch and the way he's been throwing this season. He's just been letting it eat, Coach. I love everything about him.

278 ERA on the year and 12 games started. Only a smidge over a one whip in this series against your Yankee, seven innings pitch, one hit, no one runs, walks to K's seven. I saw him give the business to my twins, especially in this dominant first ending of his. I think the twins actually end up getting a few runs off. But what he's doing this year is just great.

He just throws fastballs. He's one of those guys that went foreseamer, sinker, cutter this year. But this start against your Yankees actually used the breaking ball a little bit more than he usually does. So mixing it up a little bit. Maybe I'd like to see him do that in the second half of the season. I don't know. Maybe he doesn't even need to do it. But he's turned things around completely.

And now this is a guy I want on my team. And I don't even care that he's yelling. He's a big boy who throws Ched, who comes right at guys, doesn't walk people. I'm all in on Peyton Toley, and I was out on him without even knowing him. So I wanted to give him my standout and apologize. That's on me. Yeah, he's one of those guys, Trevor, it's well done because I think if you just catch a glimpse of him on social media, you're curious. You're like, wait, is he the coolest guy ever or is he trying to do too much or what's going on?

And I think now that we're getting more data points, I think he's the coolest guy ever. The mustache is fantastic. The You're So Pretty on his glove, like his mother who's passed used to yell that to him to embarrass him and kind of take the edge off him when he was pitching. Now he has that on his glove. The fact he's 23 and looks that much like Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec is just nuts.

Like I'm 14 years older than this dude, and he looks 10 years older than me, which, again, there's a couple things going on there. And, dude, he's just, he's everything, you know, we can be tough on pitchers because we're hitters. He's everything you want from a pitcher. Like, dude, even the way he holds a ball in his glove, kind of like, I can't wait to throw this thing at you because I'm going to get you out. All of the fun pitcher personality traits of like being the alpha, the omega, and all that, he has it. And it's fun to watch.

A guy we talked about a few times this year. The King of Minnesota, which you fought me on. Former top pick in the draft, number two pick overall, I believe. Max Meyer, for the Miami Marlins, who you mentioned had the best starting pitching this month. He is the reason why he is undefeated, which, God, did that use to matter a lot more. and I get the other stuff.

But Max Meyer is undefeated. That matters a lot for your team. In Marlins history, that ties Levan Hernandez and Pat Rapp for two 9 and 0 starts for the best record to open a season in Marlins history. Amongst the 129 major league pitchers with at least 10 starts, Meyer is the only one without a loss. We just talked some breaking balls with Tolly. The sweeper has become Myers' go-to pitch this year.

Last year, he only threw it. 11% of the time. This year he's thrown at 29% of the time. Batting average last year was 368, so that's why he wasn't throwing it. This year it's 222. He has just become a high-level pitcher in this year's Major League Baseball season. These Marlins, if they're going to continue to roll like this, the 27-year-old kind of ace of staff, I guess it was Sandy, and then we thought Yuri was next. Max Meyer, who was the third overall pick, and part of the reason I wanted to go there,

this was the 2020 draft, which, okay, you know, the world was a little weird on us. First pick, Spencer Torkelson. It's been a little bit of a roller coaster with Torquist. Heston Kerstot, second pick of the draft for the Baltimore Orioles. Let's see what's next with him. Max Meyer was the third pick, who, of those three right now, Max Meyer would be the pick, which before the season, I don't think he was.

Next is Asa Lacey, who I mentioned on the open of the show, never made it to the Biggs, didn't throw a professional pitch after 2022, ton of injuries, tough break for the Royals. Then we get into your Austin Martin, Emerson Hancock, Nick Gonzalez, Robert Hassel the third, Zach Veen and Reed Detmer's round out the top 10. So sometimes... Are you saying not a good draft? If I went to the 11th pick and I mentioned Garrett Crochet, I think you'd like the draft it a little bit better. But yeah, that, and I think, if I remember this correctly, I think the NBA

He's hit safely, Jake, in a season high, five straight games, and is slashing 368, 410, 684. So he's 3, 4, 6 in it over his last 14 games.

And last but not least, your favorite hitter in the big leagues? He's not, but I just said that. Ryan O'Hern, 10 for 26, three doubles, two homers, nine runs driven in for those pirates. I said it right away on the group chat that I wanted to do this. Friday night. Look, we know what happened last week in Venezuela. Two earthquakes back to back, like both seven on the Richter scale, which that's a big, it's a big earthquake. Right now it's 1,500 people is a death toll. the damage that's been done down there is it's a lot and i talk often about you know my latino brothers and having to leave their home countries come to the u.s and look they they love to do it and it's a great thing and um obviously there's a ton of opportunity here but it's still hard

to leave your home country and uh you know you got a lot of family back there so when something like this happens obviously it's going to weigh crazy um on these guys minds we were down there the WBC. We saw what Venezuela, what their fan base is like and just how much pride they have as Venezuelans in this baseball culture. I mean, they were the loudest fan base there. Yes. Not even close. Easily. Not even freaking close. It was awesome to see. We got to see it first hand. They ended up beating the U.S. huge victory for them. I'll never forget that. That was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life. Well, I was going to talk about almost all the Venezuelans because he had the Contreras brothers going off.

But on Friday, one of my guys who I've always been, I had his back, Cater Montero, and then our guy, Emmanuel de Jesus. So two Venezuelans take it the entire way for the Tigers and just have an incredible, incredible game against the Astros. I mean, you're striking out, Yordon, Alvarez, getting it going. and they take the game, like I said, the entire way with a heavy heart. They're wearing the VZ on the side of their hats. And immediately when I saw the side, these guys are definitely going to get my award.

So I wanted to give it to them. And then I want to talk a little bit about Cater and just exactly how good he's been this year. It's been kind of an up and down kind of career for Cater. They've asked him to do a bunch of different things, whether it is come from the bullpen, piggyback, whatever it is. but he's stepped in in the rotation that, you know, had some injuries, and he's been such a bright spot for them. You know, overall, in the season, the numbers are really good.

A 3-3-9 in 15 games started. The whip, Jake, is under once in 992. In his last three starts, 20 to third innings pitch, only three earned runs. He gave the business to my twins not too long ago. The difference with Cater this year is just being in the Zon, own more. The walk percentage is down in the fives. So, you know, vast improvement there. But he's just been getting it done. And I don't know. As soon as I saw them go and finish that game,

I said, I want to give my award. I want to give a shout out to all my Venezuelan brothers and, you know, sending well wishes like we talked about last week, a difficult thing to go through. But there's such an important part of Major League Baseball that I felt like they deserved an award. So shout out to De Jesus and Cater for pitching on heavy hearts and getting the job done. Both their families, just in case everyone's won. Both their families are safe, but they obviously know people who are in trouble down there. So yeah, shout out to my Venezuelan brothers. some people in Venezuela are comparing it to 9-11. And I was like, whoa, like, what's going on? So I then, I was like, I got to look into this a little more. I got to be better. And some of the images are pretty jarring. You know, they show like a beautiful image of like a Venezuelan shore town with like, you know, like high rises. And a couple of high rises are gone.

They're just on the ground. So very scary and sad. So I don't know if there's any way to get involved or help out do it. And for a lot of you, you guys follow your team and probably got a couple of Venezuelans. guys on there that, I don't know, do what you can for those guys. A Eugenio. A Eugenio, man. The weekend.

And basically, Jimmy was trying to say like, hey, dude, I know this might not be your best offensive lineup, but can play your best defense. Like the Yankees' defense hadn't been a topic.

And then they started moving guys all around the field again and guys are playing their second best position and the defense was bad again. We end up laughing every year that the Cleveland Guardians are a really good baseball team because they throw the ball and they catch the ball. The Brewers, they have now started to multiply on that. But if you're a team that can throw it and catch it,

you can win enough games. You're going to have some tough stretches. Trev, there was a play at the end of Cleveland's second game to Seattle that I was like, they're going to win this game? I thought when I was watching the highlight, I was like, oh, shoot, this is how they're going to lose, this is brutal. Chopper up the middle, I believe that Josh Naylor, who's become a popular topic of this week. I mean, look how high of a chopper that is.

And I know he doesn't fly down the line. Brian Rokio, who's been a hot topic this year in Guardians Land and like jokingly play off Rokio during April. Like, what are we doing? He's had a very solid offensive season, although it's slowed down a bit. Rob, if you could get that original play again, it's such a high chopper that Rokio starts turning his body to barehand it

because he thinks that's the only way he's going to have a play. And the ball usually spins that way, like it normally spins to the bare hand. the way it spins, it spins back to his glove, and he just reaches out and snags it, and then instantly into the hand with a quick transfer, this is the final out of the game. If that out isn't made, and another batter comes up, who knows what happens?

It could be a broken bat double down the line. It could be a 500-foot home run. Kate Smithkus punches ticky. He does that. Guess what? We didn't have to find out. because Rokio made the play. And if anyone watched Sunday night baseball,

the only reason the Yanks had a chance in that game, Wheel Year, who's one of the best defensive outfielders in the game, throws a ball into nowhere, which ends up leading to like two Yankee runs. And we talk about it and we harp on it defensively, how it feels like the game is still sloppier in some aspects. That play by Rokio, I don't know how many, I know shortstop is the hands position.

He's getting ready to bare hand that ball. If he doesn't make that play, you say, yeah, that's a really hard play for Rokio and let's get the next out. He makes it, the game's over. So I want to highlight, oh, Rokio, Rokio. Yeah, I mean, it's a tough play because you really want to try to come get the short hop right there because once that ball bounces that high, that hop that he's going to get right there, it's like a soft hop. So, you know, there is, I did look like he wanted to bear hand it and it kind of went the other way, like you said. But once it does that, the transfer there is the hardest part because balls like not sticking in your glove on a soft top like that.

Like that thing is going to rattle around a little bit. And then to be able to have a clean transfer and then still get some on the throw, basically with no momentum going towards first base is a very technically difficult play for a short stuff. Like you might not seem. I mean, it did seem difficult. but like there's a lot more going on than I think that people give it credit for but yeah he's uh he's one of the best out there when he's on he can make some incredible plays the the bray you throw I was trying to say like somebody needed to be there nobody needed to be there yeah like I was saying I was like where okay where's a short stuff short stuff ends up going after

it Caleb Durbin comes off the bag and tries to get it uh and I was like oh maybe the catcher should go up the line and get it but then I'm like okay nobody's like we'll be at home plate then and pitchers backing up third base. So it was just like in the perfect spot where literally no one was there. There's a very weird no man's land that you just, you don't see in baseball a lot. You don't see from wheelier a lot. That yeah, I mean, that.

It's like nobody's like usually someone could read that and be there. There's so many infielders right there. But it was like in the perfect spot. Weird.
