Starting point is 00:01:06 From LA to London, they spread the vibe, two queens of comedy side by side. Hello there and welcome to Talking Shit with a Yank and a Brit. I'm the Brit doing an Australian accent and with me today is Kate who is all the way over in America. Hi Kate. Hi. Forever will I be doing an American accent very well. Oh, that's such a great accent. Well done. Thank you. I've been practicing for my entire life. I was born this way. I am coming to you from location, on location in Shushide, Iowa. Oh, my Shushide. Shushide. I don't know why I did that.
Starting point is 00:02:10 You do a speech impediment. Probably going to upset some people if we do that. I just wanted to do the cool tooth whistle, but I can't. Much like how I... Yeah, there you go. Shushide. I can't do it either. No, better than what i was thinking i like it what are you doing in sea you're scouting um you know it's due time for me to come home i also have a sad reason i'll be going to a celebration of
Starting point is 00:02:41 life tomorrow for a friend's mother who passed away. Yeah, it is a bummer. But taking the opportunity to see my own family and other friends, too. Well, you know, I guess there's good and bad that can come out of it. Yeah. I'm sorry to hear about your friend's loss. That sucks. Big balls.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Big ones. I'm sure she'll appreciate it when she hears this Well I hope the weekend's alright for you Yeah it'll be fine What are you up to this weekend? Not a lot Actually I'm sort of looking after the dogs
Starting point is 00:03:24 Because Coif is away um got back in practice on sunday and that's pretty much it are you turning into me because like i feel like i've been pretty used to you being super busy on the weekends and i'm like i haven't left my house in six days yeah i am turning into you i'm quite looking forward to it actually just some alone time doing nothing I love that journey for you thank you I'm so looking forward to it um it is it's weird because you go from like kind of zero to 60 and then when you come back down to zero it's like I appreciate this but I also feel like it's wrong. Yeah. You should be panicking. Like I need to do something. No, I'll be fine.
Starting point is 00:04:11 I like doing nothing. I'm very good at it. Good. Good. Well, just let me know if you need tips because also very good at doing nothing. Yeah. It's a skill that I've developed over many years. Got to put in those 10,000 hours. Yeah, I think people need to embrace it. We're too busy in these modern lives that we lead. And we just need to learn to sit down and literally do nothing. I sleep. Don't talk to anyone.
Starting point is 00:04:41 Don't turn on the TV. Social distance, guys. Don't speak for three days. Don't think. Don't talk to anyone. Don't turn on the TV. Social distance, guys. Don't speak for three days. Don't think. Don't do anything. Yep. Okay. Into it.
Starting point is 00:04:52 We should create like an online course or something. Sour knowledge. How to not do anything. How to collect dust and cobwebs on your body. Yeah. How to do nothing all the time. We're going to make millions. Fuck this podcast.
Starting point is 00:05:09 It's certainly not making us millions, is it? No. Losing money at this point. Actually hemorrhaging money. But you know. Really wish we wouldn't have bought that billboard that was really expensive. Oh dear, yeah. I really wish we wouldn't have bought that billboard that was really expensive. It was in Alaska too. Literally no one's seeing it.
Starting point is 00:05:37 I think it froze over. Even the people that lived there didn't see it. It seemed like a good investment at the time because according to our stats, we have at least one person who maybe accidentally listened one time in Alaska. Exactly. I think we've got one Japanese listener as well. Say hi. Konnichiwa.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Again, probably came here by accident, but we're glad to have you. Yeah. May have been a bot, but who knows? You know. Do bots download podcasts? I hope so. Me too, I guess. Some more listeners for us.
Starting point is 00:06:19 And we're teaching them how to feel. That's how AI is getting to be so good is by listening to us emote oh god imagine if we taught ai how to feel ai would have to see a therapist it's funny that we're talking about this because just recently I had, we had a staff meeting and cause the, a new policy at work about like the use of AI in our work. And of course, like it was like, well,
Starting point is 00:06:54 I think the answer is we don't use AI in our work, but obviously that's not what the policy says. And a colleague of mine and I are like, does it need to actually be specifically spoken aloud that we're not supposed to use ai when we're like writing reports like do we need to say that aloud just to make sure everyone's on the same page there i feel like you do me too but we'll see we'll see what happens some things though you know i mean we got colin we couldn't get one-eyed paul but we got colin we got colin yeah i mean i've used it for like like bios and things and like um rewording descriptions of stuff that i
Starting point is 00:07:42 when i have no brain power to do it and like make this sound nice please and it does it i suppose in the early days of our podcast because i know we're we're on episode 46 which i feel like is a lot but i suppose comparatively to other podcasts who are in like the hundreds and hundreds now maybe not but in the early days of this i know i had two podcasts that have just started that have only done two episodes so far ahead of them we're so far ahead but i did use like i was a chat gpt to just be like give me some funny like things about the uk and america and it was like it was so dumb and remember when i had it write her jingle oh yeah and it was like so cheesy and happy and it was like best friends forever jemma and kate they like to talk is she bitty bob it's like you need to have some stuff happen to your life in your life first
Starting point is 00:08:40 and get a little grittier before we have you with this jingle. Yeah. Yeah. The computers aren't great at writing songs or I'm trying to rap yet actually. That might be. Go ahead and input that while we're talking and then when it's
Starting point is 00:09:00 finished we can see if we can turn it into a number one hit. anything gonna work all the technology in my life's just decided to just do nothing do nothing yeah stop listening started you're a brilliant rapper gotta hype it up first yeah you have to give him give him a job you're of the ilk of
Starting point is 00:09:33 Snoop Dogg Eminem yeah Nicki Minaj Kid Cudi Young Wang Nicki Minaj oh montage nope menage nope fucking autocorrect is doing my sweden at the moment talk about an invention that actually just has made our life harder
Starting point is 00:10:01 autocorrect. Write a rap about a podcast called Talking Shit Talking Shut Talking Shit with a yank
Starting point is 00:10:22 and a Brit. Which is hosted by two funny women. Go. Yes. There we go. Done. Cool. I feel like we have done this before because this is ringing all kinds of bells, what it's writing.
Starting point is 00:10:44 It's very long. Is it chatGPT? Yeah. Well, it's probably got the knowledge of what I imparted on it last year. It's listened to all of our episodes too. Yeah, should I tell it to listen to our episodes? Give us some content. Could you do some homework first?
Starting point is 00:11:07 All right. Well, I'll wrap that later. Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. You were going to do a reading for me, right? What, like a... No, like a tarot reading. Oh, I thought you meant like a poem or... like a poem.
Starting point is 00:11:26 No, I'm doing a second word. Yeah, let's do a little tarot. So I've been doing, I was telling Kate off air, I've been doing three card pulls every morning just to give me this sort of, you know, the energies for the day, anything I need to look out for, anything I need to be aware of, you know. It's usually weirdly spot on. But they've all been very
Starting point is 00:11:50 positive. Which is nice. I can't wait for mine to be like, the worst. Like, you, something horrible is going to happen to you or someone you love. And it's going to devastate and destroy everything for the rest of your life i don't think any of the cards say that to be
Starting point is 00:12:10 honest we can try all the day all right so let me tune into energy kate let me tune in to my guides and all that okay anything specific you wanna um some guidance around maybe getting re-energized or motivated or maybe trying to make some changes with or maybe trying to make some changes with career, perhaps? Or just like, where should I focus some of my reserved motivation and energy? Should it be this podcast? Should it be a hobby?
Starting point is 00:12:58 Should it be that facelift? Should it be the butt lift? Or the butt lift? Which one? Should you start waxing your bum? That's a good question. Been wondering that for a while. Okay, so you've got the seven of wands.
Starting point is 00:13:21 The emperor. And... Ooh, the herefint reversed. the Emperor and... Ooh, the Hierophant reversed. I don't normally do reversals, but it's come out reversed, so... Great. So there you go. Seven of Wands, Seven of Wands, Seven of Wands Seven of Wands Seven of Wands Okay so we'll show you That little picture there We've got a lovely man on a horsey With some people and some wands
Starting point is 00:13:54 Yep So it's a man Standing On a tall hill being challenged By the opponents below I mean that's not the vibe I'm getting No I guess how would we know This person's on a hill Yeah On a tall hill being challenged by the opponents below. I mean, that's not the vibe I'm getting, but okay. No, I guess, how would we know this person's on a hill?
Starting point is 00:14:09 Yeah. Actually, it looks like some sort of gay little parade. Am I doing one, two, three, four, six of ones, six of ones. Numbers are hard. Oh, dear. Okay. So, key words for this one is success, victory, triumph, rewards, recognition, praise, acclaim, and pride. I mean, loving that for me.
Starting point is 00:14:47 So, Six of Wands depicts a man who is currently wearing a wreath of victory around his head. Okay. He's depicted riding a horse through a crowd of people who are cheering. The horse is white, which is well known as a symbol of strength, purity, as well as success. The crowd is there to show the public's recognition for the achievements of the man riding the horse. So they're all celebrating you. Oh. for the achievements of the man riding the horse. So they're all celebrating you.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Oh. So this particular card is all about public recognition, victory and success. Not only have you managed to properly succeed in achieving all of your goals, but you are also being publicly acknowledged for them. And the results that you've managed to attain, you may have received an award or some sort of public acclaim. No?
Starting point is 00:15:28 I mean, not yet. Not yet? I'll check my mail. The card is indicative that you have managed to harness the strengths and talents that you have within you in an attempt to bring a particularly successful outcome in your life, which I would say is very true of your career. You have managed to properly get through the confusion which is brought by the card before this one, the five of wands,
Starting point is 00:15:51 and manages to properly minimise distractions, thus successfully focusing on your goals to achieve them. It's also worth noting that there is a slight downside. Apart from the overall positivity that stems from the card it can bring self-importance as well as egotistical behavior and arrogance this could make you think that nobody is better than you i will like i don't speak very highly of myself very often but i will say that i don't think that i think i'm better than other people. I think I'm the worst of everyone. I think it's just saying be careful
Starting point is 00:16:28 because you're going to be so successful that you might become really arrogant, which I can see happening. Rude. Next one is the emperor he looks sexy he is hot stuff what a hot old man i love that beard so some key words on this one is stability, structure, protection, authority, control, practicality, focus, and discipline. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:10 So the Emperor Tarot card is a stoic ruler, a figure who can be seen on his throne, which is adorned with the heads of four rams, representing his astrological sign, Aries. I think we're in Aries now, aren't we? We are. I've we're in Aries now, aren't we?
Starting point is 00:17:25 We are. I've got some important Aries in my life, Levi and my friend Matthew and some other people that I'm not mentioning, but I didn't forget about you. I'm sure there's loads. In one hand, he carries a scepter representing his reign and his right to rule, and the other an orb, a symbol of the kingdom that he watches over. The long beard of the emperor represents his vast experience,
Starting point is 00:17:48 and over time he has learned much about what it takes to rule, to establish power, authority, and complete order for the benefit of his people. There's some stuff about what's behind him, but I'm going to skip that. So this card is all about control when it comes to the emperor. For this card, for this card, sorry, means authority, regulation, organization, and fatherliness. That's rude considering my dad died. Yeah, sorry about that. Terror card doesn't know.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Yeah, sorry about that. The tarot card doesn't know. So the emperor represents a strategic thinker who sets out plans that he must see through. He is a symbol of the masculine principle and eternal figure in life that gives structure, create rules, systems, and imparts knowledge. Where the empress's desire for their kingdom is to create happiness, the emperor's desire is to foster honor and discipline he guides with a firm hand following the calling of the crown above all else and he is a ruler sorry he although he is a ruler he understands that to reign is also to serve and
Starting point is 00:18:58 thus he acts rationally and according to what is for the greater good of the kingdom. So to see him in a reading represents a chance to grow in terms of the goals that you have set for yourself. It represents a successful future as long as you pursue your goals similar to the fashion that the emperor does methodically and strategically. When you see him in a reading, a possible interpretation is that you could be put in charge of something important. It could be a position at work or any kind of organization or institution that desperately needs order and a clear, decisive mind. You may be called to act in the place of an emperor, using his wisdom to bring clarity to the project. Oh, no. No, I don't want to.
Starting point is 00:19:47 I mean, just considering the last card, too, and I'm involved in some kind of, like, related but not linked fully to my position. I'm sorry. It's okay. It's, like, a good thing thing but it's just like I never Envisioned this for myself Well The cards have spoken Well there's one more
Starting point is 00:20:16 That could fully exist We've got the hero font Reversed I mean he looks like a party She looks like a party she looks like a party um okay so some keywords for this one rebellion unconventionality non-conformity new methods yes love this so let me just skip to the old but. But if it's reverse, does that mean conformity? No, that was the reversed keywords.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Yeah. So when you see the hero phantom reverse, it may mean that you are feeling particularly restricted and even constrained from too many structures and rules. I am. As a result, you have lost quite a lot of control as well as flexibility in your life. You have a particularly strong will and desire to go ahead and reign control as well as to break free from the shackles of convention.
Starting point is 00:21:14 You are tempted to try unorthodox approaches or to function in a way which defies social ties and norms. ties and norms. The Hierophant reversal meaning is mostly about questioning certain traditions and making sure that whatever it is you do, you do the right thing for you in this certain moment. Interesting. Very interesting. Yes. I am wearing a crop top. What?
Starting point is 00:21:42 So already. No way. I mean, I'm wearing a shirt under my crop top what so already no way i mean i'm wearing a shirt under my crop top so so i'm like really not showing any skin really but like rebelling but sticking to the rules yes exactly yeah i like it well there you go i think you know you've you've clearly reached some success um which you've been've clearly reached some success um which you've been celebrated for and people are celebrating it for
Starting point is 00:22:08 maybe it means that the podcast is going to go viral and we're going to get public recognition who knows yeah um
Starting point is 00:22:15 and then the emperor um yeah that's going to be a rule a role of authority
Starting point is 00:22:24 that you're going to have to take over and put in some new processes in place, take control. But I can do so in a non-conforming way. But yes, you're also going to rebel and follow your own fucking rules. Who gives a shit about how it was done in the past? Do your own thing. Fuck, yeah. Love that for me. I'm glad no one's dying.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Yay. Am I experiencing a devastating tragedy That's great I wrote it down So I didn't forget Yay Thank you for that You're welcome I hope it brings you
Starting point is 00:22:58 Clarity and You know Vision into your Murky future. Loads of money so he can break even. Yes, and that. We'll see. We'll see how that goes, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Good. Well, once we wrap up for today, I think I'm going to have to have a think about all of my new power and how I'm going to shake things up. Shake it up, girl. Like maybe... What do they call it? Girl boss. Yeah, girl boss.
Starting point is 00:23:33 I think I'm going to... Maybe I'll wear pink on Thursdays instead of Wednesdays. Yeah. You do. Get ready for Las Vegas-style action at BetMGM, the king of online casinos. Enjoy casino games at your fingertips with the same Vegas-drift excitement You do. 90 plus to wager Ontario only. Please play responsibly. BidMGM operates pursuant to an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. There.
Starting point is 00:24:19 I saw something the other day that I wanted to share with you. Okay. So it was quite interesting. Did you know that it's the egg that chooses which sperm fertilizes it? Like naked attraction. Yeah. Like naked attraction. The bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:24:43 So I didn't know this because, again, I've said a few times I have a very poor understanding about my body and what happens in my body. Sex education was lacking. Yep. Let me educate you. Please do. So it's always been said that the fastest sperm is the one that fertilizes the egg. But now we know that this is false. So it turns out that not only is there no sperm race, no race is happening.
Starting point is 00:25:15 They're not going. They're just kind of floating along. Yeah, they're just kind of bumping into the walls. Where am I? Here? It's like this. Yeah. Just bumping into it. It actually is.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Yeah. So there's no sperm race, but the egg plays a much more decisive role than previously thought. Andrology specialist Stephanie Sanchez says the egg chooses the sperm to allow access to the fittest. A study by the Pacific Northwest Research Institute claims that the egg is don't know why I could get out. Claims that the egg is not a docile and submissive cell in the reproductive process, as was thought until recently. Much like women were thought of as submissive and docile until recent times. That is, if the sperm is of good quality and healthy, it will be able to fertilize the egg regardless of the order of arrival. So I wonder why the myth was spread.
Starting point is 00:26:42 Because we wanted to make it seem like the men had all the control, I guess, on how babies were made. I don't know. Yeah. Like, you know, survival of the fittest. Yeah. All that. I'm thinking about like a sperm being like, and I got a really short tail and I'm kind of balding, but you want to give it a go?
Starting point is 00:26:58 And the egg's like, no, I'm going to go for the hot, dumb one though. It's plainly what happens. Yeah. Interesting. Interesting. Yeah. I thought that was interesting. Thank you for teaching me that.
Starting point is 00:27:17 You're welcome. I love that you teach me so many things. Well, it's what I'm here for. Yeah. you teach me so many things well that's what I'm here for yeah um another thing I saved is uh how to make your own bread oh yeah let's talk about that because I love making bread do you yeah I I got into it like COVID like everyone else and I started a sourdough starter and bought a lot of equipment and made bread. It was actually really therapeutic for a bit.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Just like the kneading, letting it sit, kneading, proofing, shaping. And then, of course, bread's so fucking good, especially fresh made bread. Yeah. I actually have been thinking about like I need to start a starter again and get back into it. Yes, I have been thinking that too because I've got a little sourdough kit. Do it. I need to make a starter and I keep forgetting. I really want to do it.
Starting point is 00:28:13 But obviously I'm not eating carbs at the moment, so I'm like, oh, I won't do it yet. Fair. Yeah, I might want to wait then. But it is, if you think you can kind of just enjoy the process rather than you know maybe indulge in the finished product then you might still i mean you have people you can give it to and share it with that probably would enjoy it so yeah and for me it's like bread is one of the most processed foods we eat these days there's so many ingredients in it and the worst are wraps have you seen how much shit is in wraps are we talking like tortillas but like yeah the kind that are huge and green and this one's spinach
Starting point is 00:28:56 and this one's tomato basil and yeah not even that just the plain ones like i saw something about it online and then thought yeah that's a fair point actually because literally the other day i checked my cupboard and i still had a packet of tortilla wraps in there that went out of date on the 23rd of december and they're fine they were absolutely fine no mold no nothing yeah i was like's concerning. They should be fucking dust by now. They are not. And then I looked up like how to make tortillas. Literally flour on water.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Yeah. And they're fucking good when they're fresh too. So I was like, right, well, I'm going to make my own tortillas. You should because you could probably, I mean, there's different types of flour out there too. That would be more like keto friendly, right? Yeah i did make some keto wraps the other day nice uh they were they were all right it's one of those things where it's like the real thing is obvious like this tastes like a diet cookie i mean bread is fucking nice so yeah I don't think you can beat bread although I've bought keto bread offline great well I mean I guess it's like what's the point of getting even like keto bread if it's gonna suck you know so I'm glad that there's now ways where it's kind of like it's it's actually pretty
Starting point is 00:30:19 fantastic you know whether it's not you can't tell or just tastes good in and of itself that's good because I think about before I had any business dieting i'm talking about when i was like in middle school or like high school and it's like oh you can have like a slim fast or a lean cuisine and it's like this actually just tastes like shit yeah and it's just a lot of processed crap as well yeah whereas you could just have a smaller portion and eat some more vegetables yeah you probably lose weight get in a calorie deficit you'll lose weight yeah yeah i think that's also why it's kind of like exercise as much as sometimes it can be asked it's like well i do want to eat things like i want to eat pizza. So I guess I'll also go for a jog. Yeah, that's it.
Starting point is 00:31:07 But it's funnily enough because I've listened to a load of fucking podcasts about health and things like that. And so many experts say that exercise actually has really no contributing or very little contributing factor to weight loss. little contributing factor to weight loss because in order to burn enough calories to put yourself in a deficit you'd have to like run a fuckload and you know do a ridiculous amount of exercise which then also increases your appetite so it's like a swings and mirrors thing yeah when i was trying to mirrors i don't know what that means wings and mirrors i? Yeah, when I was training for the marathon. Swings and mirrors? I don't know what that means. Swings and mirrors. I understood what you meant. Smoke and mirrors? Yeah, smoke and mirrors makes more sense.
Starting point is 00:31:57 When I was training for the marathon, I remember burning a lot of calories, but I also couldn't eat enough. I was like, I'm legitimately not hungry. But I would be hungry, but then there'd be times when it's like, okay, it's like five in the morning and I have to go for a run. I am not hungry. But if I don't eat this, I'm going to have a really shitty run. So, but I think it really is just like you burn calories so that you could eat more calories. But I think I've heard you're going to be most successful. I think really it's going to be in the kitchen and what you eat, what you put in your body. So for sure but exercise is good for you you know in other ways like your bones your heart that
Starting point is 00:32:31 sort of thing so having like muscle is super important as you get older because we lose it and then especially women yep and you can't get up and you can't do things you can't get up and you can't do things. You can't get up. Help me. I can't move. Yep. I mean, I noticed pretty early on in my 30s, every time I get up, I go... Gravity. Something always brings me back to you. Gravity. So many songs about gravity.
Starting point is 00:33:03 It's true. Defying gravity. Okay, we've identified three. What else? There's three. That might be it. That's it, I think, yeah. But three out of hundreds of millions of songs is quite good.
Starting point is 00:33:25 Yeah, it's true. It's true. Speaking of songs, is that rap done? Oh, yeah. Let me sing you a rap. Let me rap you a rap. Oh, God, I'm really shit at rapping. This is going to be awful.
Starting point is 00:33:44 Do your best okay yo listen up i got a story to spit come on it wasn't you it was just how it started okay it wasn't you it was the it was what they wrote okay sorry start over back up this is in the start of eminem okay okay so so bad okay yo listen up i got a story to spit about a podcast that's a certified hit talking shit with a yank of the brit, two funny ladies, you can't miss it. Once from the States, one from the pond. Oh, from across the pond. Their banter's so wild, they'll make you respond.
Starting point is 00:34:41 They'll tackle topics with humor and wit, bringing laughter and insight bit by bit. Yo, yo in brackets yo from pop culture to politics they dive no hard no holds barred they keep it alive with sass and charm they steal the show every episodes a must go yo this is the chorus talking shit with a yank and a Brit, their podcast game. They don't quit. From L.A. to London, they spread the vibe. Two queens of comedy side by side. This is definitely more in the style of Will Smith, I'm just going to say. Yeah, I think it is. I think that might be my delivery as well.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Yank brings the fire, a Brit adds a spice. Together they're dynamite, taking no advice. They roast each other like there's no tomorrow, but deep down their barn's hard to borrow. They dissect the news with comedic flair.
Starting point is 00:35:39 No topics too taboo, they're fully aware. Okay. With guests dropping in, it's always a blast talking shit they're unsurpassed in brackets bring it what what word so if you're looking for a good laugh, play on their podcast. Carve your own path with humor. I've lost the flow. With humor as sharp as a razor's edge. Talking shit.
Starting point is 00:36:13 They're all the rage. Okay, that bit didn't rhyme or anything, but fine. I was just going to say that was a couple stretches with some of those words and trying to say that they rhymed. Good for a laugh. Carve your own path. Good for a laugh. Coffee run puff. Razor's edge. They're all the rage, I guess.
Starting point is 00:36:32 I don't know. Chorus. Talking shit where they're yanking a Brit. Their podcast game, they don't quit. From L.A. to London, they spread the vibe. Two queens of comedy side by side. This is the outro. So here's to these ladies, raising the bar
Starting point is 00:36:50 in the world of podcasts, they're shining a star. Talking shit with a yank and a brit, remember those names, don't forget. Mic drop. Name? Names? Are our names yank and brit? Yeah. Remember their yank and brit names
Starting point is 00:37:07 that gave us a lot of credit it did didn't it yeah but you nailed it thank you i mean what i would say is i told chat gpt that it was a brilliant rapper yeah i'm not sure it embodied that that title maybe it googled brilliant rappers and unfortunately only came across yeah like will smith ha ha ha ha stay in school when you're not asked you to do the dishes Ha ha, stay in school. When your mom asks you to do the dishes, don't wait five minutes, do it right away. Get jiggy with it. Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.
Starting point is 00:37:53 Well, there you go. Oh, that's going to be so much fun to make clips of. I really had to, like, reserve my laughter for a minute. Like, I had to like reserve my laughter for a minute. Like I had to restrain my mouth. To restrain my mouth. Good stuff. Good stuff. That's some quality.
Starting point is 00:38:21 Lyrics. That's the words. Lyrics. I can't wait to win a Grammy for that one public acclaim oh my god but we're going to have to share it with chat GPT unfortunately I'll make
Starting point is 00:38:35 I think I should turn that into our intro I think you probably should fuck the music we've got at the moment let's go with that behind it or behind it yeah okay i'll record a version over it shall i do that see how yeah i mean that might help give you a sense of the rhythm yeah and then i can just like again just be a hype person and yes let's do that are y'all ready for this jemma jess is from la to new york mental
Starting point is 00:39:15 what mate nothing she hasn't seen before you like it when i rap i don't know actually she's like i've never heard you rap mommy i've only heard you sing don don't know. Actually, she's like, I've never heard you rap. Mummy, I've only heard you sing. Don't know what you're doing. She's like, I stick to the day job of normal singing. Fuck you, Jess. Well, I think on that note, let's wrap up with an Am I the Asshole? Yeah, do you want me to bring the mood down a bit? I've just looked at the title again and I'm like, oh God.
Starting point is 00:39:45 100%. I want you to bring this mood down and we're going to rap on a low note. Okay. I need some liquid. After all that rapping. I'm playing a sad violin. Okay. Okay. Right.
Starting point is 00:40:11 Am I the arsehole for refusing to allow my daughter around my brother-in-law for something he did years ago and leaving my husband because of it? Okay. Trigger warning on this one. Re-sexual assault. I was worried about that. Okay, back when my brother-in-law was 28, he had, in quotes, a relationship with a 15-year-old girl. Ew.
Starting point is 00:40:40 He ended up in prison for 12 years on kidnapping and rape charges, and he just got out two years ago and moved back to our home state three months back. Okay. I'm glad he went to prison, I guess. Yeah. Now, my husband and I have a 13, almost 14-year-old daughter, his stepdaughter technically. And I absolutely refuse to allow my brother-in-law around her. and I absolutely refuse to allow my brother-in-law around her.
Starting point is 00:41:07 Everyone in the family is extremely pissed at me because he did his time and paid his dues. And they've all tried to convince me several times that what my brother-in-law did was a one-time thing and that since my brother-in-law is mentally delayed due to childhood trauma, that he really didn't understand that what he did was wrong because mentally he was on the same page as the 15 year old girl i refuse to buy into that excuse and have stood firm behind not allowing this man near my kid i don't care if he is in quotes reformed and in quotes
Starting point is 00:41:39 found jesus um i don't care if he openly admits that it's a mistake and is apologetic. He still wrote to kid who is close in age to my daughter. Well, yesterday the family called us and they said they needed to have a family discussion and asked to come over, which I allowed. My mother-in-law, father-in-law and sister-in-law were all here and said that our niece's 12th birthday is coming up next week and that they want us to attend but that the brother-in-law would be there. They asked that I put up with it for a few hours for my niece's sake and said we will all make sure that John isn't around your daughter and we'll pay close attention and basically begged me to just put it behind me for a few hours.
Starting point is 00:42:21 I said absolutely not. They all have this belief that he is reformed. So I don't trust them to keep an eye on my kid because they all think he is cured and that he wouldn't do that to the family. They left pissed off. Well, I walked in the bathroom last night and heard my husband crying. I knocked on the door and found him sitting on the edge of the tub and he unleashed a world of hurt on me. He said he is fucking sick of being caught in the middle of all this bullshit and feels like I am making him choose between his entire family and me because of his brother. Sorry, because his brother will be at all events from this point forward so he knows that he won't be able to go because of it. He said that he is pissed off at all of us
Starting point is 00:43:05 and is starting to hate us all because we won't shut the fuck up and stop giving him ultimatums. In brackets, I have never given him any. I simply walked out and went to my mother's with my kid. I know he's hurting right now, but I will never tolerate the lack of concern for my own child over what that man did. Am I in the wrong here?
Starting point is 00:43:29 A couple of things that i'm confused about can someone not know what they did because of any sort of cognitive cognitive delay yet be reformed is a question i have and also if it were true that he were delayed to the extent that he either couldn't appreciate or understand the consequences of his action or the criminal nature of his actions, then that would have probably changed whether or not he could have been convicted even or tried because there are, depending on where they're at, they might not be in America, I guess. convicted even or tried because there are, depending on where they're at, they might not be in America, I guess. There are laws or defenses about whether or not you could be guilty of a crime that you did commit because of your cognitive capacity, ability to understand and appreciate your actions. My guess is because he was convicted and sent away for 12 years, they didn't find that. Now, it could have been they didn't raise that defense, but whatever.
Starting point is 00:44:28 And so I guess that also is like, hmm, then they're kind of making some excuses that I don't think or maybe they're just excuses. And then they talk about reform and finding Jesus, but I think we haven't really touched upon this, and finding Jesus, but I think we haven't really touched upon this, but I know for sure that our prison system isn't exactly in the business of rehabilitation, really. So as someone who worked as a professional in the criminal justice system, particularly when it comes to kids, I do think, I believe there needs to be a rehabilitative effort so people that can like kind of move on with their lives, right, is what I'm trying to say. But I just know that that doesn't exist. And so like I think this person's concerns are justified. I can understand how her husband is caught in the middle. And I think probably
Starting point is 00:45:23 if this is his stepchild i wonder if it was actually his biological child if he would feel differently about it i don't know i don't think this person's an asshole she's being protective and she's not convinced that this person's safe so yeah i completely agree um i don't think she's an arsehole. I mean, regardless of how reformed this person is, I think if someone has the capacity to rape someone, regardless of their mental age, they have the capacity to do it again. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:46:01 Yep. and pedophilia typically is not something that people get over that's why we have sex offender registries exactly um and i yeah i think she's fucking well within her rights really i mean i am i don't understand the families but i understand where they're coming from yeah they made a choice to be supportive of this person regardless of what they did which fine but they also have to accept the consequences of doing that exactly um and yeah i think she's she's fucking well within her rights like
Starting point is 00:46:41 she shouldn't have to put her daughter at risk um i think i mean i don't think she should leave her husband for it oh oh i think we're back okay we're back okay you were saying i don't think she should leave yeah i don't think she should leave her husband for it um And I understand it's hard for him But she says she hasn't given him any ultimatums It's simply the fact Like he can still go to these family gatherings She just won't go with her kid
Starting point is 00:47:16 I don't think she's stopping him From living his fucking life Because of his perverted brother Yeah I think they just need to communicate like here's the deal i get it this is where i stand on that what is your reaction to that is there a middle ground here where it's like an agreement that like if there's if he's going to be there we won't be going but we're not going to stand in the way of you going someone's made a very good point as well saying i really don't understand this a truly reformed man should remove himself from the
Starting point is 00:47:48 equation doing everything to make amends by staying the fuck away from kids but he's delayed so yeah yeah how can family members put the comfort of a child molesterer above the safety of a child all he has to do is lose a few parties with children what the kids have to lose is their health safety and if it comes to the worst their lives since a significant number of former sex offenders kill their victims if they relapse making absolutely sure that a child is safe should trump any support for a grown man who has already hurt a child before. Yeah. But people always will I think protect abusers over victims and
Starting point is 00:48:33 that also means child victims are potentially child victims. It's crazy. It's crazy. Yep. Well there you go sorry about that brought the mood right down after the little rap there you've ended with the rap just do a little rearranging creative editing i just think you know we ran the gamut of today and today uh you know talking about tarot and success
Starting point is 00:49:06 and not getting to be too big-headed and then you know that then had a marvelous rap about all of our acclaim and skill we really peaked at that point i thought yeah and then of course we have to talk about sex offenders obviously obviously It's not an episode without that. It's not an episode without bashing men in some way or another. Well, you know. Yeah. Sorry about that. Sorry to our male listeners.
Starting point is 00:49:34 I'm not saying you're all pedophiles or rapists. Most of you are fine. Most of you are fine. Most of you. Most of you are good. Good people. But if you're ever in this position go ahead and remove yourself yes please do walk away well i hope you have a wonderful weekend perfecting that rap and doing nothing i will i'm just gonna lay here and just bust out some lyrics. Just, you know, that's what I do in my free time.
Starting point is 00:50:07 I just, I've got all these ideas in my head, just running around, all the rhymes, you know, just laying down some rhymes, some thick rhymes. Some sick, fat beats. Sick, fat beats. You know, perfecting my beatboxing as well. That's something I like to bring into the mix every now and then, just to really showcase my skills and my talents. Once you finally get this song polished, I do think, and nay, I insist that this become part of your band's rotation. Oh, 100%, yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:40 I don't see why we can't bring the two together. Exactly. This is something I've discovered today. I didn't realize how talented I was, actually. And you also didn't have the tarot card that said, don't get a big head. So I can just run with it. Yes. Or maybe there was some confusion between.
Starting point is 00:51:00 Maybe it was your vibes. Maybe the being publicly recognized actually is going to be you for this. Oh, yeah. That's probably what it is. Yeah. And I'm probably just going to be, hi. I'm here too. Sure, sure, sure.
Starting point is 00:51:14 No, you're my hype man. Yeah. Yeah, I guess. I'll practice some of my hype words. Yeah. Are you guys ready to have an okay time? Me too. But I'm going to have a nap first. First I'm going to do nothing.
Starting point is 00:51:34 Well, we brought it back up. I think that's just wrapped there. We've brought the mood back up. See how we do that? We're so skilled. So skilled as the wraps up. As the tarot card said as well. Yeah. Can't lie with that shit, mate.
Starting point is 00:51:50 Tarot's spoken. AI's spoken. I have spoken. Talking shit with the Anken. And a Brit. Yay! Ta-da. Find us on TSYBpod, on insta tiktok twitter youtube uh you can write to us and tell us
