Tangle - We're taking a break, and you should too (please, hear me out).
Episode Date: November 27, 2024Here at Tangle, we’ve just had a year straight of one of the longest, wildest, most unpredictable, campaign seasons I've ever witnessed. From two assassination attempts on Donald Trump to the shocki...ng first debate to Joe Biden dropping out to Kamala Harris's coronation as top Democrat and everything that happened after that and in between. If you are reading this newsletter, you are either a voracious news consumer or someone who is at least spending a few minutes a day trying to stay informed. To that end, I'm doing something very few media outlets tend to do: I'm telling you to look away. Just for a few days. It's okay. It'll all be here when you get back, and if you genuinely take a break you’ll feel refreshed and ready to return when it’s time. We're going to take a break, too, and I’m planning to recharge. We'll keep an eye on things for you while you take a break, and we'll update you on what you missed when we return (which will be Tuesday, December 3rd — I've ordered my team to take off tomorrow through Monday). In the meantime, we are running a special Black Friday deal for our premium podcast memberships. You, or someone you might want to recommend us to, can click on the following link to get 25% off the first year of a premium podcast membership! From executive producer, Isaac Saul, this is Tangle.
Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening, and welcome to the Tangle podcast, the place
we get views from across the political spectrum, some independent thinking, and a little bit of my take.
I'm your host, Isaac Soll, and we have something a little different for you today. We do not have
a normal podcast. In fact, this is just a message to all of you about what's going to happen here
at Tangle the next few days and what I think you should honestly do in your personal life the next few days.
The 2024 election season is over. Here in the United States, Thanksgiving arrives tomorrow,
which means most people from our highest elected official down to your run-of-the-mill regular old
American are going to get a brief respite from work, the news, politics, to spend some time with their families or their friends
or however you spend Thanksgiving. As President-elect Trump continues with his transition process
and President Joe Biden wraps up the final days of his presidency, members of Congress are
dispersing for the holiday and I suspect the fire hose of news across the country is getting turned off for a brief
moment of calm.
As the founder and CEO of Tangle, I get an opportunity to set the tone for my colleagues
and our readers about how we should handle moments like this.
So here's what I've told them and what I'm now telling all of you, our listeners.
Log off.
Seriously, go spend some time with family or friends, break bread with
loved ones, do some volunteer work for Thanksgiving. If none of that is in your plans, just take a long
walk, touch some grass, turn off the TV, enjoy a break, hit the reset button, rest. Check in with
the real world that surrounds you, your neighbors, your place of worship, your family, your community,
not the one that lives online or in the front pages of our newspapers.
Here at Tangle, we just had a year straight of one of the longest, wildest, most unpredictable
campaign seasons I've ever witnessed as a journalist, from two assassination attempts
on Donald Trump to the shocking first debate to Joe Biden dropping out to Kamala Harris's
coronation as top Democrat and everything that
happened after that and in between. If you are listening to this podcast, you are either a
voracious news consumer or someone who is at least spending a few minutes a day trying to stay
informed. We're going to keep an eye on things while you take a break and we'll update you on
all the things you miss when we return, which by by the way, will be Tuesday, December 3rd.
I've ordered my team to take tomorrow off all the way through Monday
to give them a nice, long weekend.
So that'll be our first podcast back.
For now, I'm just doing something very few media outlets tend to do,
but they should do more of.
I'm telling you to look away, just for a few days.
It's okay. It'll all be here when you get
back. And if you genuinely take a break, you'll feel refreshed and ready to return when it's time.
We're going to take a break too. And I'm going to do my best to recharge by spending some time with
my family. Before we do though, I do want to give you a heads up that right now and until Monday,
next week, we're actually offering a major discount on our Tangle Podcast
subscription. So some of you guys are already Tangle members, but we are offering 25% off
for Black Friday. So if you go to tanglemedia.supercast.com right now and buy a Tangle subscription,
before you purchase the subscription, you can apply a promo code Black Friday in all
capital letters and that'll get you 25% off your code black Friday in all capital letters.
And that'll get you 25% off your first year of a Tangle subscription.
Just want to make sure people are aware of that because we're advertising it in
some channels, but this is probably the place where most people who are interested
in that are going to be.
So again, if you go to tanglemedia.supercast.com and you buy a Tangle
subscription to get ad free and premium podcasts.
This week only, you can apply the promo code BLACKFRIDAY in all capital letters to get
25% off. We also have information about that discount in our show notes.
Okay. Until we get back, if you want to get your last bit of Tangle content before we
sign off for a bit, reminder that you can always go to our website, www.feedtangle.com.
You can go listen to last week's Sunday podcast, which was run without me, the first ever Sunday
podcast, Sans Isaac.
Or you could follow along with our Instagram channel, Instagram.com forward slash Tangle
News, or our YouTube channel.
We are also Tangle News, or our YouTube channel. We're also Tangle News on YouTube. Barring any major breaking
news, we will be back with the podcast on Tuesday. And until then, I hope you guys all enjoy your
break. Thank you so much for all the support. Thank you for sticking with us through this totally
nutty election season. I'm excited to catch my breath and recharge a bit. And I can't wait to get back
in the host chair with you guys next week. So we'll see you Tuesday. Have a good one.
Peace. Our podcast is written by me, Isaac Saul, and edited and engineered by John Wall.
The script is edited by our managing editor, R.A. Weitzman, Will
K. Back, Bailey Saul, and Sean Brady. The logo for our podcast was designed by Magdalena
Bacopa, who is also our social media manager. Music for the podcast was produced by Diet75.
