So I think I have a new favorite sandwich where, you know, as Pennsylvanians, when we take sandwiches extremely seriously for some reason.
Starting point is 00:01:10 And I honestly think that I found a new one. Usually it used to be, you know, an Italian with extra mayo, extra vinegar, extra oil, salt pepper, oregano. Yeah, no. Found a new one. Have you ever had a gizmo? Yeah, of course. Okay. For those of you don't know,
Starting point is 00:01:32 Gizmo is a footlong hoagie roll, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and then you take two cheeseburger patties, cut them in half, lay them across the bun, and then cover it in like deli ham.
Starting point is 00:01:48 It is so fucking good. It's fat. It is probably the worst decision I could make in my life health-wise, but God damn it, I love it. But anyway, welcome to the tape form podcast. My name is DJ. And I'm Raz. And this episode's going to be a little bit different. This is going to be the first one of
Starting point is 00:02:10 what I believe we're going to be calling our catch-up episodes. They're designed to be shorter. And they're just a way for Raz and I to kind of catch up with each other throughout the week, kind of learn what we're, what we've been doing this week. Now, before we get into that, I do want to issue a little apology, both to the listeners and to you, Raz, because it is 100% my fault that we have not released an episode since, what, October? Yeah, sounds about right. I think the last one was Casper. So it is my fault.
Starting point is 00:02:49 I got really into the numbers of the podcast. and seeing things not progress the way that I wanted them to got a got me a little depressed and made me kind of step back. But it made me realize that while, you know, growing this show into a like a large community and a, you know, creating a career from this is a dream. It's not the goal of the show. The goal of the show has always been. to make my best friend watch really bad movies with me and we make fun of them.
Starting point is 00:03:29 Like that, that is the goal of the show. It's not to like, like, yes, let's get rich, whatever. No, it's let's have fun and let's watch some shit movies. But I think I started losing that plotline before we even released the first episode. I know, like, Raz, you and I've talked many times about changing the format of the show, that the format's not really working and I just say fuck it and keep doing the same thing and completely expecting a different result. So I apologize. And there's going to be some changes coming to the format to the show. One of the big ones we're planning on trying to do
Starting point is 00:04:14 one of these catch-up episodes a week to kind of keep the banter on the main line series to a minimum, kind of get it more onto the minisodes, just so the main lines seem more streamlined, more easy to digest. No, for sure. And I do want to say, without going into too much detail, you did have that a little bit of a medical issue, just in your defense. Sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:44 And, I mean, you're very passionate about this project, too. So I can definitely see how that kind of got you down a little bit. And I think as long as we focus on on that on our passions, I think we'll be fine. Fair. Yeah. The other thing too, you know, straight from the get, I was like, we should be doing, we should mimic what these other people are doing. Just because they're successful. Instead of like, let's be ourselves and let's, you know, let's do things our way. it was let's try to be as successful as these other people and that's a that's a really shitty way to go into things so now that we are allowing ourselves to be us i feel like everything will come a lot smoother for us uh making these episodes should be a lot easier um
Starting point is 00:05:43 and honestly i am excited to start going into the shittier movies because that's what I love and I know Raz that's what you hate. So I feel like it's going to be a lot more fun once we move into that. No, for sure. Yeah, I mean, what can I say? Like I thought we started already. I mean, with Monkeybone, but there's definitely some worse ones. It gets so much worse.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Just wait. Yeah, I don't think I've told you what the next movie is, did I? No, no. And good. God, I'm scared. You should be. Quaking over here. Honestly, it's one of my favorite movies, but we'll get into that next episode.
Starting point is 00:06:28 But anyway, yeah, I wanted to issue an apology. And I want, I hope that everyone can bear with us as we transition into finding more of ourselves instead of trying to mock other people. That being said, the first thing for. my little catch up. Now that this one's going to be a little bit longer because I am going to go all the way back to October. Just because like Raz alluded to, I had a little bit of a medical issue. We didn't really interact too much since October, a little bit here and there. But there are some stuff that has come up media-wise that I didn't get to talk to Raz about, which I am very excited to.
Starting point is 00:07:17 The big one is back in October, I got to see my first live play as an adult. You know how like we used to have to go, what are they called? Like field trips on school to go see plays and shit. I used to hate that shit. I absolutely hated going and seeing plays. I think it was just because I was a shitty little kid and couldn't sit still. you know a little too hyper hyperactive yeah and just like you're sitting here watching people sing and shit like i don't give a shit about that like there's a giant playground outside i want
Starting point is 00:07:57 to go play on that um but now as as an adult um i got to see we saw dr jekyll mr hide a nice little local theater close to us and honestly i loved it it was It was honestly one of the greatest experience that I've had in a long time. Have you seen a play since any of that shit, like any of the school trips? No, I'm not cultured at all. No. Okay. Let me ask you this.
Starting point is 00:08:33 How do you feel about musicals? No, not my jam. Not really. Unless you count, God, I forget what it's called. weird owls weird musical but fictional biopic oh okay um is it just called like yankovic i think it might be i don't i can't remember but um yeah usually i'm right there with you i hate musicals but there's something about seeing it live and like seeing the the acting come come alive and everything it was actually a lot of fun i mean i can definitely understand that i mean
Starting point is 00:09:12 for one, I'm not a big a sports guy, but I do love going to sport events. Okay. There's just something about being there in person and being part of the experience that I can definitely, you know, understand. See, I'm not a sports guy at all. I absolutely despise sports.
Starting point is 00:09:31 But there is only one sport that I will go and see live. And I think it's because of just the atmosphere. And that's hockey. Oh, hands down. Hockey, I think, is the best sport to go see in person. Exactly. And if anybody knows me, they know I, I am hot-blooded, I guess, is a good way to say it. I run extremely hot all the time.
Starting point is 00:10:00 It's like, it is 70 degrees in my room right now, and I am drenched and sweat. So going and seeing hockey, and it's only like 40 degrees in. the arena. I fucking love it. Compared to like going out to a football game. Well, football is a little different depending on what time you go. But like a baseball game, absolutely not. Nope.
Starting point is 00:10:26 I fucking, I hate it. First of all, baseball is boring as shit. Second of all, it's hot. The only thing that I like about it is the beer, but it's so hot drinking the beer. You end up getting sick anyway. So I don't see a point to. going to most of that shit. No, I'm right there with you.
Starting point is 00:10:46 I've gone to a couple football games and some baseball games. And compared to hockey, it's, there's nothing else like it. Yeah, yeah. And like, I know a lot of people, they don't, I get it. You can't see the whole rink if, uh, if you're down in like the nosebleed seats. But what you do get to see is a play. smashing other players face against the glass. And like, you'll never be able to see that at like a baseball game.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Yeah, no, I, I would actually say it's kind of the opposite. Hockey rings tend to be a lot smaller than most other, you know, sports arenas. So I think you can see more of it no matter what. But then I think going, being down there right next to the glass, right next to the, the Plexi, it just gives you a bonus when they get into those fights and you can see all that. But a lot of people that I know, they don't want to be down there. They want to be up higher so they can see everything. Really?
Starting point is 00:11:47 Yeah. That's what throws me off because I'm like, I'm only here for the fights. Like, and the, the smell of beer. Like. See, normal people go to baseball games and football games hoping to catch a ball or, you know, something like that. Maybe a bat if they're lucky. You go hoping you find lost teeth. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Yeah. Or I lose some teeth myself. Yeah. Yeah. Like, I would be the person that wants to sit next to the penalty box just to be able to, like, reach over and be like, good one or fuck you. Careful. You might become the next target then. I mean, if it depends how much of a pussy the fight was.
Starting point is 00:12:32 I mean, that's fair. You know? Like, dude, come on. You let him beat you. But anyway. back to the play. Yeah, as I said, we got to see Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It was actually a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:12:48 We were going to go to see Elf in December, but I ended up, you know, damn near cut my finger off. So we had to reschedule that one. But yeah, it definitely, I would recommend going and seeing, And just for the hell of it. You know, see a little bit, see something. You know, it also helps if you enjoy the source material. I mean, that's fair.
Starting point is 00:13:19 It's definitely something I would be open to, but it would have to be either of the right play or with the right people. That's fair, yeah. On a semi-related note, actually, and I didn't even think about sending it to you. I sent it to one of my other friends, Anthony. but I should have sent it to you because I feel like you might have liked it, but they were doing in a town nearby us, they were doing a burlesque show.
Starting point is 00:13:45 Really? Yeah. That's cool. I remember, before we started recording, we were talking about Studio Ghibli. And back in the state that I was living before I moved back home, I worked at a job, and there was a guy who came. kept inviting me to a studio jibbley play. I'm like, okay, that seems cool.
Starting point is 00:14:14 So as the time got closer and closer, I can't remember what exactly it was, what the play was. But as it got closer, he tells me where it is, and I realized that it's like a movie theater. And I'm like, they do a play at the movie theater?
Starting point is 00:14:33 He's like, yeah, so the play takes place in Japan and they record it and then you watch it at the movie theater I'm like so it's not even a live play it's a recording of a live play and he's like yeah I'm like I don't want to see that like that sounds stupid like for all that I just go to the movie theater
Starting point is 00:14:55 and watch the actual movie it seems so much yeah I don't know I don't know I mean I could see that being interesting entertaining, but that's definitely not something I would do all the time. I don't know. Like, think about all the times that we had to watch, like, the replays, the recordings
Starting point is 00:15:16 of school plays. You remember seeing those? Like, because we had a TV show every Friday for our school. I don't remember. I remember the show, but I don't remember seeing the replays. Now, you participated in making that, didn't you? Yes, I did. Um, so maybe that's why.
Starting point is 00:15:39 But why you remember it, I should say more than I do. Fair, yeah. So it wouldn't, it would be more like a news story and you see some clips. It's not like we would sit and watch the entire thing. No, I do remember that a little bit. Because they did. They had two people as like anchors and they, um, they had shared news and stuff like that. Some of it was entertaining.
Starting point is 00:16:01 Now, very, very important question. Yes. What are you drinking? What am I drinking? I am, I am drinking a Miller light. Okay, okay, that's fair. How about yourself? A nice Modelo Cervaza.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Ooh, okay. Getting fancy with it. You're over here, fancy drinking, and I got the weight trash. I don't know. I wouldn't say mine's much better, but I just, I don't know. I can only drink gingling so much. Actually, I can drink gingling a lot. I can drink and gingling a lot.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Yeah. I want to something different. Like, so I, I think it was Fourth of July last year. I went and I bought a 12 pack and they just been sitting in my cupboard because I only drank one on Fourth of July. If you don't drink that much, you got to get something fancy then. I'm obsessed with THC drinks. I'd rather drink five milligrams of THC than any beer. That's fair.
Starting point is 00:17:04 good plug right here Good Feels Go to get Goodfields.com and use code tapeworm to get 20% off of some nice fancy THC drinks,
Starting point is 00:17:18 little 5 milligram THC get you a little buzz Sounds like a great behind of me How many slavers do they have? Four? I don't fucking remember, dude. Sorry, I was trying to help you
Starting point is 00:17:30 with the plug there. I know, but honestly, I don't even know if it's legal anymore. I don't see why not. I don't remember. Because they, um,
Starting point is 00:17:43 they banned THC. They banned THC, um, stuff with the, um, what's it called? When they reopened the government, they banned a lot of THC.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Oh, okay. I don't remember seeing that. I know Ohio passed something. I, uh, believe. Yeah, actually, I don't think we might have anything federal level. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:11 They, they closed the loophole for the THC, like the Delta 8 THC and everything that happened with the Farmers Act or something. Like, I think CBD's ban now too, because of that shit. I'm looking at Goodfield's website, and I'm not seeing anything right now. So we might have actually lost that whole deal. I'm logging in to see if they're, if they are anything anymore.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Yeah, I'm seeing something from March of last year, and it looks like there was a November 12th deadline for our state. Yeah. Shit. Well, that's a shame. I mean, I'm, I tend to be a little more socially liberal. I definitely think some of the laws are too restrictive. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:12 I definitely think. Economically conservative, socially liberal. I'm like a schizzo. Yeah. Shit. I can't think of the, I'll have to do it on my phone then because I can't think of my, I can't think of our, um, password for our. what's it called?
Starting point is 00:19:35 Sponsorship website. Yeah. That's something we'll have to look into then. Yeah. We'll get it. We'll get it. We'll definitely, once, you know, weed becomes legal,
Starting point is 00:19:46 we will definitely, you know, find a sponsor with a good T.HC drink because, yeah, makes life a lot better. Yeah, and it's a lot healthier than smoking. Yes, it is. Yes, it is. It's also, I'd argue,
Starting point is 00:20:01 it's probably healthy. than beer or two. Honestly. Yeah. Yeah, because most of the time they are seltzers. They're just, you know, carbonated water. I mean, I like alcohol as much as the next guy, but it is straight poison. Yeah, it is.
Starting point is 00:20:19 Yeah, anyway, that was my first thing. We got a little off the topic there, but. I mean, that's what these episodes are for. It's one to help us catch up. Two, to get us into the groove of recording. And three, to bring our listeners a little bit into our personal life and into who we really are as crazy, demented people that we are. Exactly. Yeah, I have a, I have a THC problem.
Starting point is 00:20:53 RAS has a alcohol problem. That's, no, no, honestly. The problem is they don't make enough. No, I'm kidding. No, yeah, and like, I, I know how I look, but I don't actually smoke as much weed as you probably think I do. The 27 piercings, you think that makes you look a certain way? Yeah, and the hair and the, yeah. Yeah, honestly, like, I'm going to sound old as shit right now, but this new weed is too strong, man.
Starting point is 00:21:28 like I remember back of the day we used to smoke a little weed and we would giggle now we smoke a little weed and I'm like I'm having a fucking heart attack somebody call an ambulance like that's why I mean and it's partly true they have been they have really focused on getting the THC I'm not an expert in it but the THC content a lot higher
Starting point is 00:21:53 yeah dude I remember like back like when I was big and into smoking, it'd be like 25, or sorry, it'd be like 5% THC. Now this shit's like 30 and it's terrifying. I think the lowest stuff you buy nowadays is like the best stuff we used to get. Yeah, dude, 100% and like it's like the, dude, I remember buying it and it'd be like brown and crumbly. Do you remember that back in the day? Dude. Some of it, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:26 I was thinking about this the other day. Do you remember sitting and watching that giant projection screen TV back when we were living with Rob? I'm trying to think because I remember the night in the apartment next to the courthouse. Okay. Us doing something similar. I'm trying to think when we lived with Rob. Okay. So, we were sitting.
Starting point is 00:22:56 we were sharing a black and mild. I don't fully remember why we were sharing it. Probably because of the last one. Probably. And we were too late to go buy more? Yeah, that makes sense. And if I remember correctly, you weren't smoking at the time. You probably had just started smoking.
Starting point is 00:23:18 Meanwhile, I was the one that, you know, I started smoking at 10. We were probably like 19 at the time. which is funny because I've now quit and you're the one that's still smoking, aren't you? I know, I know. But hey, I haven't smoked in 16 hours. That's actually pretty good. Yeah. It's going to be the first three days and after the first three days you're pretty much clear.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Yeah. I have Nicorette mint things that I'm biting in half. just to get me by. Okay. But. Makes sense. Eventually weaned myself off that. But yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:24:02 Go ahead. I'm sorry. No, you're good. I was just going to say, like, I stopped vaping pretty much a week ago, and I was smoking, like, basically my last pack of actual cigarettes. And just from stopping the vaping, I noticed a huge difference. Yeah, definitely. Definitely. And just, I had quit smoking years ago and switched.
Starting point is 00:24:25 over to a vape and then just that I've noticed the huge difference and then when I quit the vape it was like night and day it's kind of crazy yeah but yeah no you don't remember the the giant projection TV that we had in the living room at Rob's I don't oh oh I'm sorry I'm an idiot I was thinking of projector okay no no the projection TV okay okay um do you remember I I think how it went down was you went to the bathroom. We were sharing a cigar. It was black and mild. I,
Starting point is 00:25:04 while you were in the bathroom, I decided, fuck it. I budded the cigar. I pulled out all the tobacco. And I just stuffed it with straight nugs of weed. I didn't even like break them down. I just stuffed them.
Starting point is 00:25:20 And you came and you took a hit and you're like, what the fuck is this? And I'm like, I just stuffed a bunch of weed in there, man. And you're like, for some reason I didn't know, but you were like, did you break them down?
Starting point is 00:25:40 I'm like, no. He's like, or you go, you know that like the THC is on crystals on the outside. So if you don't break it down, you don't knock that off and you're just getting like pure THC, right? And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:25:53 Okay. Dude, I specifically remember we sat there high as shit and we watched scared straight and cops on repeat high as shit. I must have been gone because I don't remember that night. I specifically remember because we had just bought some with our buddy Dave. And it was like, it was white. I forget what the name of it was, but it was white and, uh, white purple and orange hairs on it. It was like something like white lightning or something.
Starting point is 00:26:37 Yeah. Was the name of it. And we had just bought some. So I was like, fuck it. Let's use it. And yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:46 I think I remember picking it up with Dave, but. Yeah. There's, I don't remember that night. Yeah, I was gone. A couple of times. Yeah. Speaking of which, RIP to both Rob and Dave, always end up forgetting about that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:03 Realize. RIP, man. Yeah. I forgot about Dave. Yeah. Rob was actually, my dad brought it up the other day, my dad and stepmom, because they were like, how is your, how's your friend that lives at the end of the street, blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, he's dead. Like, he died almost a decade ago.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Like, what? Yeah. Yeah, shit, I remember one time we were at, we were over at your dad's house, when he moved towards the capital. Mm-hmm. And it was soon after you, soon after it happened. And he asked how Rob was doing. And like, you looked at me and you had this face of like, oh shit, did I forget to tell him? And you told him and he's like, oh, damn, I do remember that.
Starting point is 00:27:59 I'm like, okay, good, because I didn't want to have to be the one to tell. But yeah, it sucks, man. That. Yeah, I try of, well, because my father moved back into the area. So I drive by the house now and then, and it's, it's sad because I remember those times. Yeah, it is. and definitely like just I wish that I could buy that house you know fix it up to do do what it needs to but yeah it does suck I mean hey that's life so I mean to any are all listeners out there you know just the people around you just you know don't take them for granted because you never know and on top of that if you're thinking about any anything like Like, any kind of self-arm, you know, get help.
Starting point is 00:28:56 There are people out there for you that want to help you that don't want to see anything bad happen to you. Yeah. And like, I don't think a lot of people understand how much, like, how painful it is for the outside parties to go through that. Like, you don't necessarily think about that. No, I mean, when you're, when you're going through that, whatever you're going through that, whatever you're going through, that brings you to that point or close to that point, that's just not on your mind. You're going through a lot at that time.
Starting point is 00:29:31 So, you know, how do I say this? We're not trying to shame anyone for, you know, not thinking about other people, just to get people to recognize that, like, that they have something so bad to them that they're even considering taking that next step, that you just want to watch out for them. I guess is where it comes down to.
Starting point is 00:29:54 Exactly. Yeah. I don't like, I'm not, I don't want to shame anybody on anything, but like, you know, if you really stop and think,
Starting point is 00:30:04 like, it's all consuming. Yeah. There, there are definitely people that are willing to help you and don't want to see you go through anything like that. Um, and sometimes all you got to do is just one,
Starting point is 00:30:20 one little reach out could completely, change your life. I wish that we had somebody that we could like recommend, you know, like a like a better help or something, but I don't know. I mean, there are there are suicide hotlines. Yes. So please at any time you can reach out to them. 9-1-1, they will, they will, they will always, you know, they have a lot more resources than what I even know about. Yeah, 100%. I know if you're in the U.S. it's 988 is a suicide hotline.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Or even just crisis hotline. It's not just suicide. It's anything that's so bad, but not 911. If I'm not understanding correctly. What was the number on that? 988. 988. I've honestly
Starting point is 00:31:11 never heard of that. You can also text them. Really? Yeah. Huh. That is cool. I didn't know that that. existed at all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:21 Yeah. I think it's somewhat recent. I don't think it used to be a full like 1-800 number, but... Yeah. Yeah. What was that number? The 1-800?
Starting point is 00:31:34 I have no idea to be honest. Wasn't it 177? I know Logic had a song that the name of the song was the number. It might have been. Yeah, I think, yeah. Well, we devolved. Yeah. It was completely off topic, but I mean, a serious subject.
Starting point is 00:31:52 It is. It is. Yeah. Definitely. Yeah. If you need help, reach out and help. You're not a, you're not a burden to anybody. It's okay to not be okay.
Starting point is 00:32:05 But anyway, back to our. On liner news. Yeah. Yeah. What have you been up to recently? I mean, I don't have a life. I pretty much. sleep and work, but in between
Starting point is 00:32:21 I've been listening to quite a few audiobooks, so that's been consuming my life the whole time. Yeah, I know I recommended one to you, and I know you kind of struggled with it, which I understand. You know, no one's perfect.
Starting point is 00:32:37 I won't hold it again too much. I'm obviously a little salty, but no, but it's called Red Rising. And for anyone listening, Um, those that know, you know. And if you don't know, read it or listen to it. And you're either love it or you're not normal.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Sorry. I guess I'm not normal. No, I will give it another chance. It's just I, I don't know. I don't know what stopped me from listening to it. Maybe shit, it could have been like I was having a bad time at work. And it just made me not, I mean, I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:33:17 It was right in that time frame. You know what? Yeah. This was what, like two, three months ago, four months ago. So like,
Starting point is 00:33:24 yeah. You know, you had other shit to worry about. Yeah. But yeah. It's just, it's a great series. It,
Starting point is 00:33:33 it's very much a guy series, so to speak. Yeah. It's very, you know, kind of actiony male bravado. But for you women out there, or,
Starting point is 00:33:43 it's all about love. I mean, mean, it really is. It's about brotherly love. It's about a man and a wife. But it's also like a hierarchy. It is. That plays a big part into it as well.
Starting point is 00:34:01 It is. It's basically give you a real quick, high-level synopsis. Humans take over the solar system, colonize the whole thing, and they create basically neo-fascists, neo-Nazis, essentially, perfect genetic engineering and create a caste system based on colors, gold, silver, bronze, etc. But are they, there is a weird thing with like,
Starting point is 00:34:35 I guess, kind of the races too, because the different colors seem like they are, I don't want to say different races, but. No, you're partly right. And that comes down to the, essentially the lore behind it is basically certain groups of people colonize certain areas of the solar system. And that played a part into it. Basically when the color system was made up, the people who were at the top or in certain jobs already just became that cast. So you didn't have a whole lot of.
Starting point is 00:35:16 of, you know, diversity there. And then obviously once the cast system was made, you only stuck with your cast. They made it crimes to, you know, sleep with and breed with people outside your cast. So, yeah, it did devolve into almost like a racial caste system in a way. But that was not the intention. But it does touch on topics like that. that. Very minorly, but yeah, I mean, you're not wrong.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Okay. Makes sense. How many books is the series total? Oh, God. Six, and the final one is coming out, I think, early next year. So, hold on. Is it six including the final or six release currently? I will tell you in just a second.
Starting point is 00:36:13 Okay. It is six current. me and the seventh will be the final. Wow. Okay. So I listened to the first one. So you're telling me that I have six more to get there. You do.
Starting point is 00:36:30 Well, don't put it that way. Okay. The other two ones I really got into was I could talk about writing or even more, but I don't want to spoil anything for you or other listeners. But the other two series, three series, really, I kind of got into, was he who fights with monsters. God, there's so many. I forgot how much of a note life I am. He Who Fights with Monsters, Dungeon Crawler Carl are two really great lit RPGs.
Starting point is 00:37:04 And I recommend both. For most people that Dungeon Crawler Carl is probably going to be your more mainstream option. but it's incredibly intelligent in some of the humor and things they do. They even bring up like real world events like totally randomly it seems like but they're on topic in the context of the story. Okay. Like a local one actually. The I forget what it was called. Yeah, the Avondale mine disaster, which caused the death of 110 workers.
Starting point is 00:37:41 and if I remember correctly helped start some legal protections for mine workers. Really? Yeah, it came, it happened in Plymouth Township, Pennsylvania. And completely randomly, it was part of this book. And they brought it up and talked about it. So it's interesting. Now, let me ask you this. do you have somebody else that you can talk to red rock talk about red rising to no um i'm like jerry
Starting point is 00:38:18 signfield signfield okay i have my two friends and that's it and you're okay so fair i didn't know if you have been fanboying with somebody else about it because i mean people are scary i don't talk to other people. Fair. I was going to say, you know, could, could make that another show. Have you talking about Red Rise? We'll talk about it. It would be great, but it is only seven books. You can only do that so long. Yeah, but you start with those seven books and then you can, you can, it could be a one-off series, you know. That's fair. That's true. Just it's out for what it is and then, you know, people can listen to it whenever. We'll figure it out. Yeah, do you have any other audiobook recommendations? Oh, God. Well, Red Rising, 100%.
Starting point is 00:39:15 Anything in the Cosmere by Brandon Sanderson. Okay. Definitely more young, adult-ish, but they're fun. They're good, good listens and good reads. Those are kind of like my big ones I'm waiting for the next ones to come out on. Okay. There's a couple other ones, but I think those are the big ones. I will say one audio book, and it's a short, it's a short listen.
Starting point is 00:39:44 It's only three volumes, three books. They're pretty short. Yeah, I think each one's only about 18, 20 hours if you listen to it. Okay. But it's called The Perfect Run, and it's basically just the world ends pretty much, and people get superpowers, and this guy has a time looping ability where he can make save points and when he dies he goes back to the save point and it's basically him trying to get the perfect run trying to 100 100% his goal mission pretty much actually considering he can make every
Starting point is 00:40:21 single mission 100%. But it was a short one but it was really really fun and really nice to listen to that that sounds fun that's a cool ass idea like trying to speed run life or something. find glitches in life. He did. He does. Yeah. Some of his runs, he just goes on a murder hobo spree
Starting point is 00:40:41 just because he knows there's no there's no repercussions for it. That's pretty cool. Yeah, I think that's about it from my audio books. Yeah. So back in the day, well, actually back when we were living at Robbs,
Starting point is 00:40:59 with that projection TV, you recommended a TV show to me. You had me watch the first episode and I thought that that episode sucked and I didn't understand the hype. Uh, since several more seasons have been released. Am I gotta hate you? No, no, I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:41:22 I don't think so. I don't think so. Um, and if it was mainstream, I wanted to hate it. But I don't think I gave it a chance. chance. So earlier this year, I gave the entire series a chance. And the series finally finished this year. So I'll give my review.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Have you watched the entirety of Stranger Things yet? Oh, God. No, I think I'm on like season two or three. Really? Yeah, I stopped paying for Netflix and I just never got back into it. Fair. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:07 So you showed me the first, because you were like, dude, it's D&D. Yeah. I'm like, I get it, but like, I don't really give a fuck. But, you know, so technically it's based off of a conspiracy theory in real life called the Montauk project. And like it's, if you get a chance, look into the Montauk project. It's fucking crazy. There's like time traveling psychic boys. that are being kidnapped all over Long Island.
Starting point is 00:42:35 It's cool. But anyway, so to save you from spoilers, I will give you my full Stranger Things review. Okay. Okay, go for it. Season one is good. You know, it's, yeah, yeah. Season two is, hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:59 season three is oh fuck yeah and then season four is yeah okay and then season five is ah okay uh uh one of those choked in the final quarter but like so the way that season five was released it was released in like three parts or something like that and uh like the first part was like, oh, fuck yeah, dude, this, this, this season's going to be fucking crazy. It's going to be better than the last season. Because to me, the last season was a little weak. Um, I think if I did the math, right, I'm, I'm kind of forgetting what happens in each season. But there's one season, like, in one season, hop isn't in the town. And it's like, what the fuck are we doing here? Like, all of this would have been, none of this would have happened if hop was in the
Starting point is 00:43:57 town anyway it's it starts out and it's like fucking yes this this is going to be awesome the ending of the first part of the the last season was like gave you chills you couldn't wait till the next one came out right and then the middle one it kind of just started to slowly fall apart and then the last one it was like fuck it i don't give a shit anymore just like me like it's the like it's the like it felt like a hop out. Honestly, it just felt like, yeah, whatever. Like, we'll finish it however we want to finish it. Like, let's just wrap it up and be done with it. So, like, I recommend watching it, but like, it has a good, you know, little message at the end, a good little conspiracy theory type deal. Um, but I don't know. It just, I don't think it was worth the hype. And like, I can, I can,
Starting point is 00:44:56 I can really understand people hating the way that it ended if you sat and waited. You know, if you if you watched the first season, how many years ago was that now? 10? Nine? Yeah. Yeah. If you watched that first season and you had to wait this long for the fifth season, I would understand why you'd be pissed.
Starting point is 00:45:18 It's a little bit different for me because I watched it all this, or not this year, but, you know, 20, 25, I watched everything. So, you know, I didn't have that hanging over my head watching it. But yeah, it was a little underwhelming. I mean, I can see that. Yeah. Especially like you, you waited all that time for it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:47 I mean, when you're waiting that long, there's so much height that kind of builds up and then so much expectation that it can be hard to satisfy that. Oh, yeah. Now, we're currently watching a new, not a new TV show, but a new to us TV show. It's a TV show from the 90s. We'll get it. We'll talk more about it next week. But the original series ended in like 1993, I think. It was, how do I say?
Starting point is 00:46:22 Season two ended in 1993. season three came out in 2014. Jeez, okay. Yeah, and it's like a limited, limited series. It's definitely, it's something that I want to talk about. I'm having a lot of fun with it. Actually, I think next week, all of mine are going to be TV shows. It's going to be three TV shows that we've been really into for the past month.
Starting point is 00:46:49 So I'm kind of excited to talk about those. All right. Sounds interesting. I'm curious. You shouldn't be. One of them, the first one, the one that, you know, season, the 90s, season two was in the 90s, season three was in 2014. That one you can be excited about. The other two, yeah, whatever.
Starting point is 00:47:13 They're a thing. They exist. Yeah. Yeah. They exist to make me feel better about my life. But anyway, that was a quick little. Well, I wasn't quick. It was about an hour.
Starting point is 00:47:25 But a little catch-up episode, get us all up to speed. So that way, next episode, we can talk about the sphere. What year did the sphere come out? 1998. 98-98 sphere. That is starring who Dustin Hoffman, Samuel L. Jackson. I think I saw Queen Latif in there, didn't I? Yeah, she was in there.
Starting point is 00:47:57 And I don't know the other people's names, but next episode, we will be talking about the sphere. Excited to talk about it. We're going to be experimenting with a new format. Hopefully everything works out pretty good for it. But if you want to see more from us, go ahead and follow us on the socials at Instagram and TikTok at Tapeworm Podcast. So join us next episode for The Sphere and have a good one. See ya.
