I wouldn't be where, what I am without it.
I love that.
Make me cry.
I feel like crying.
Hey guys, welcome back to T-It-4.
I'm Billy.
And I'm Lauren, and this is a podcast where we talk all things that normally say in the group chat.
And we had a very exciting week this week, didn't we?
We did a very Christmassy-themed meet.
We met the incredible pop sensation.
Pixie Law.
Yeah, it's very exciting.
I think 2009 me would be screaming right now.
2025 me is screaming.
She's an icon.
She's an absolute legend.
So Pixie was promoting her newest Christmas film called Christmas Karma,
which is directed by Corinna Chada, who did Bennett Like Beckham,
and so was a perfect snogging, lots of iconic films.
This just felt very surreal for us.
We were chatting everything from like nostalgic Christmas past,
the fact that she's a gay icon.
Gay icon, absolutely.
The icons she's worked with.
Yeah, it felt very surreal for us to add another.
fun celebrity to our roster so enjoy this very cool interview with the one and
only Pixie Lott. Hi Fixie, hello. Lovely to meet you. Nice to meet you too.
Thank you for coming on our podcast we are from T at 4. T at 4 yes and this is
just gonna like slot into the episode of the week so we get to celebrate the film
and chat to you amazing amazing so congratulations on the film I have to ask
what is it like working with the icon that is Grenda I feel like you know
Bend it like Beckham, Angusongs and Perfect Snogging, Supremacy, and now you're part of Christmas Karma.
What was it like?
I feel so lucky to be part of it and working with Garenda because she is a powerhouse and just amazing to work with.
Obviously, I know the fabulous stuff she's done beforehand, big fan of Grenda's work, but to actually work with her, the energy that she brings, the passion, the attention to detail and the direction to really get you into the Zahynda's work.
was just so cool. I loved it. I loved working with her.
She is a legend. Do you have a favourite project of hers before joining this?
It's got to be bending like Beckham. Come on.
But yeah, have you seen the film yet?
Yeah, of course.
Yeah, it's so much fun.
You liked it.
Yeah, it's so good.
Well, since the film is a modern adaptation of a Christmas Carol,
we thought we'd take a look at your past, present and future today.
Uh-oh.
Uh-oh.
D-ton-d-d-d-d-d- If you're up for it.
No.
No. I'm joking. I'm joking.
Perfect.
Okay, so first up, let's look at your ghost of Pop Past.
We'd like to take a trip down memory lane.
We're talking boys and girls.
We're talking Mama-Doo.
Mama-do?
Mama-do.
The whole era.
I feel like for me, your music is synonymous with what I describe as the peak Christmas nostalgia.
Oh.
So it's like 2010 X-Factors on the TV.
I see One Direction.
and out is at the top of my iTunes, life is good.
That's so nice.
Do you have any feelings when you look back to your early days?
Like what does that bring to mind?
I feel like I can't believe how time was just gone.
Like that that was then and now is now because it's weird.
It feels like yesterday, but at the same time it feels like a million years ago.
And I was just this young spring chicken who just didn't know anything.
Not that I know anything now.
Nothing has changed in that aspect.
But I loved it.
I just loved it with every second.
And I still do.
I love music.
I love this business still so much.
I still have such a fire burning for it
because, yeah, it's just never kind of gone away.
But those times were, like my mum would do,
as you mentioned there twice.
I mean, it's ingrained in my brain.
It was my mum's ringtone.
Really?
Of course.
It came out when I was 18, so I have just the best memories from that time.
I'd grown up wanting to be a singer and have my own singles and my own album and make my own
pop videos and so for it to actually happen and, you know, the first day I walked on set
for the music video of that song and all those people were there just for me to film
my video.
I was like blown away by it, it felt like it wasn't real.
At the same time I'd been working towards it like my whole life and all I was like
driven towards.
But I just had the most fun.
I was 18.
I said just soaking it all up and going out and having fun and just yeah and traveling all over the place.
So yeah, very fond memories.
I love that.
I mean we still love your music.
Like every time I listen to it, it takes me straight back to being like in the high school corridors
with my like girl best friends.
They're wearing Paul's boutique.
Oh, Poverty.
Yes.
It was changing their BBM statuses.
Ah, I used to love BBM.
The Blackberry needs to come back, I feel like, don't you think?
I agree.
I agree.
I'm ready.
Yeah.
And like, it makes me think, like, how much you were inspiring them when we were at school,
like you were such an icon.
Who was inspiring you at that time?
Which year are we talking?
We can go in a year, 2009, 2009, okay.
That's when I first, yeah, that's when my first song came out.
So I think during that time, who was kind of around?
I mean, growing up,
I loved all the big singers, so I loved like Mariah Whitney, Celine.
I loved the teen girls I grew up listening to Brittany and Christina.
And you know, I see baby hit me, hit me baby one more time.
And I just thought it was the best video of all time.
So I definitely grew up loving all that.
But around that time, I think I was when my first single came out, I think there was
a bit of an indie.
Resurgent.
Yes, going on.
I hate it.
You hated that.
Yeah, I was such a pop girl in.
Oh, sorry.
No, no, you know what you're on the do?
Like all the boy band in DC, what you bring to the table.
I was like, thank you.
Oh, yes.
Okay, good, good, good.
But I was listening to the, the, yeah, I hate to put a spanner in the way.
No, my gosh.
But I loved like the cooks and that Arctic monkeys and like all the very non-sounding stuff I was making.
But that was around at that time, wasn't it?
So I definitely was listening to that.
I remember, and I loved, I loved, I think James Morrison and Paolo Nuitini were around at that time.
I loved their voice.
Anyway, he has an amazing voice, I will always love.
But I love the pop girlies as well, of course.
I just love it all.
And you've obviously worked with a lot of huge people.
Have you got any kind of memories that stick out for you?
Over the years, I would say working with,
Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder and John Legend.
Unreal.
That's incredible, isn't it?
Yeah, that didn't feel real as well when that happened.
What do you think 2009 Pixie would say to you now?
What would she say?
Oh.
I can't believe you're still doing this.
What you're doing?
Have a rest.
I don't know if I would be surprised or,
because I guess I am kind of still doing the same stuff,
but I'm a mum now and I've got family.
So that was a massive change.
I feel the same in some ways, but I think I have changed in a lot of ways, hopefully, in that I've learned things as in like what's important, boundaries, what you need to focus on.
As you get older, you realise life's short and what you want to spend your time on, what songs you want to be singing, what projects you want to be a part of and just like the power of saying, no.
I think when you're younger, you're kind of like, I'm a very go-of-the-flow person as well, so I've learnt that over.
over the years and I think that's been really important
and a very good learning curve.
Yeah, I think she'd be proud.
Yeah, I think so too.
I think it's only right we bring up to present Pixie.
So you're obviously nothing short of viral moments.
One of my favourite being you being carried on stage
in the splits, five months pregnant,
which I will give you a flowers for that.
Thank you so much.
And I was actually there for that.
I was in the girls.
Yeah, I'm at Maita hoopla.
Oh my God, that's so cool you were there.
It was so cool to watch you and like gag us straight away because it's like, what the hell?
And I was run by all my gay friends and we were just living for you.
You're such a gay icon.
Oh, what?
What does that community mean to you?
I've just had the best times of my life with the gay community and I felt so much support.
And I always want to give the support back 100%.
Mighty hoopla was just so much fun.
But I love playing prides.
and I will always support their LGBTQ plus community always and I love it
I've had the most fun times of my best nights out the best shows
and I wouldn't be where what I am without it
yeah that's beautiful making the cry I feel that crying
oh well obviously now you're in the star-studied cast of Christmas karma
could you describe your favourite day on set I think the day where we film
the, they're actually sad scenes in the house, but it felt like we kind of got to know each other a lot that day, like the cast, because there was the downtime bits.
So it's where we first met Billy and he came in and was amazing and just so charismatic and he told this story.
And I was just like, just talk all day at me.
You're amazing.
It was a really hot day.
So we went to the ice cream man and got some ice creams.
We're all in our Christmas.
In Christmas.
Yeah, I know.
And they make it look cold in the film, but it was a really hot spring day for the ice cream man to be around.
And so we had like the downtime where we were having our ice creams and Danny was making me laugh.
So I think that's one of my fun days.
And it was really nice weather.
Yeah, that always helps.
Yeah, that always helps.
Now, you've obviously said that you're still making music, you're still in this industry.
I asked you earlier who was inspiring you back then, but who's inspiring you at the
moment I'm actually going to say a few people I'm going to start with I love Cynthia
Arevo because she is at such a talent I saw her in the color purple and Broadway and it's
probably the best thing I've ever seen that she felt everything with her whole body and I was
just crying my eyes out it was one of the best things I've ever seen and then the new pop
girls that I love Erin LeCount is fantastic Sky Newman and
And Ciena Spiro or Spiro, I'm not sure.
I don't know these.
You've got to check these girls out straight away.
Amazing.
Big voices.
Love that.
I love Lola Young.
I think she's real.
I'm trying to think who else.
Oh, I really like Charlie Puth's new song.
I'm just thinking what I've downloaded Residio.
It's got that slight throwback, nostalgia, vibe, but it still feels new.
So I love that.
You didn't say what songs are you like in the moment.
What was the question?
No, it was partly that.
Like, who's inspiring you?
Who is inspiring?
Yes.
Yes, I'd say that group of people.
I love that.
And like you said earlier, you've had a huge year.
You've been touring, performing.
You're also welcomed a new child interval.
Congratulations.
What has this year meant to you?
It has been a full-on year in the best way.
Loads of just amazing festivals and summer shows
and performing live is my most favourite thing.
I love loads of things about this industry,
but that's my number one favourite thing to do.
And Mighty Hooper is one of my favourite shows ever.
I said the highlight is the birth of my baby, definitely.
But that is there after.
And just juggling it all together.
I think I've been really lucky with my family helping me
so that I can do that.
So I was doing shows right up until my little boy was born.
The last, I did a performance at the NFL two days before he was born.
So I literally did it right up until the last.
And I just felt really good and fine to, I just felt fine to be doing it.
Like, obviously if I didn't, then I would be resting at home.
Don't everyone know that?
Not being made to do this.
But yeah, it just felt really great.
And I had just a jam-packed, really fun summer.
A few little logistical nightmares getting around
and drug and everything.
But yeah, it's been an amazing year.
I'm releasing new music
and I've got a new song coming up before Christmas as well
about my baby's first Christmas.
Oh, God.
And I've got a Christmas show, a week before Christmas.
I keep saying Christmas, obviously, it's all about Christmas.
At Union Chapel on the 17th of December.
So please come.
Oh, I would love to.
I'm doing all my old stuff, new stuff, Christmas songs,
getting festive.
And I'm really excited about that,
because Union Chapel is so beautiful
and I think it's just been on my bucket list for so long
so yeah, can't wait.
Oh, that's gorgeous.
That sounds like a new Christmas tradition for us.
Are we willing to take up?
Yes.
You know?
I feel like we've done the Royal Albert Hall.
We've done the streets.
What comes to you?
They're very good.
The pressure's on now.
Yeah, let's make this a Christmas tradition.
I love that.
Well, it only seems right, and we've kind of covered this,
to move on to Pixie's Christmas.
future. So what is next for Pixie Lot? What's
2026 going to bring past Christmas?
Ooh-hoo. I don't know actually.
No, what do I kind of? More music. So I had a big
gap in between my album before and my album I put out last year.
And I don't want there to be a gap. I can't speak English anymore.
I'm sorry, it's the baby brain. I don't want there to be a big gap again. So I want to,
keep releasing music and the music business has changed so much there's that
freedom where you can write something and put it out there and it feels
really exciting to do that so I want to keep writing keep putting music out
there starting with the Christmas one coming up and then lots more next year
that I've already started I just did a writing trip in Nashville I've got lots of
new stuff and more acting projects yeah all the fun
staff really. I would love to ask. You've obviously been in Christmas Karma. Do you have like a dream
role you'd love to do? I'd like, I mean, I love films that just have like a lot of heart and soul
in it. So I'd love to do more like that. But I love characters that have loads of layers that you
can really suck your teeth into. And I feel like the more the older I get, the more life experience
to have. So that helps with acting projects. I feel like you bring it all to and every character is
completely different. So I feel like you keep learning with acting and projects.
Whereas music, not that you don't keep learning, because you do, but I feel like I know my kind of sound and I've done it for years.
Whereas acting, I feel like with each project, I keep learning more and more and more.
So, and there's so many different opportunities and roles out there.
It's exciting to think what is around the corner.
Anything could be around the corner.
Dun dun dun dun dun.
Do you have like any actors that you look up to you that you'd love to just be able to?
to work with one day.
This was such a big cast.
Yeah, I loved working with this cast.
That was definitely a dream come true.
I love Julia Roberts.
Yeah.
Let's make it happen.
I feel like you could also,
you kind of look like a younger Julia Roberts similarly.
Could I play the younger?
Yeah.
The younger one.
Oh, guys, you need to cast it so that I'm in it.
We talk to our Rewards.
One, come I'm a botch.
Yeah, perfect.
And just to kind of round up,
what would future Pixie tell present Pixie
right now.
I think the things in life that I always try to remember, but it's easy to forget when
you're in the rat race of life, you know, which is to live in the moment and to not sweat
the small stuff, which is what I have learned, like, in the recent years, I think, but it's so
easy to forget and I have to keep reminding myself.
Because you think it's a big deal, but it all works out in the wash, doesn't it?
Yeah.
So just don't worry about it.
Just chill out.
Just chill.
And then finally, we always like to do this when we round up podcast.
Do you have a rose, thorn and a banana when you look past?
Yeah, I've got a rose from the banana, always.
So Rose is your kind of like maybe a career highlight.
Thorn is a learning curve.
And then a banana is something you wouldn't expect him, but it was a lovely surprise.
Ah, and you slipped on it.
And you slipped on it or it made a lovely banana split.
I think now, because I'm doing like my shows and releasing music that I'm
writing that I love and bringing my family with me, it has an extra layer of special for me.
So I'm going to say that for the rose.
Learning curve, I think going back to what I said earlier, you know, when you're kind
of like starting out and just so excited about everything and I don't want to lose that,
but just the power of saying no and having the boundaries and doing stuff that is authentic
to you and that you love.
And I do think it is good to go with the flow sometimes, but I think I've learned now to have
those parameters and know when something's not right and to do the things that speak to you
only because life is sure, but also now I'm a mom.
I don't want to waste my time anymore because I want to be with them.
I think it makes you prioritise things and just like know what is important way more.
Newly said.
Thank you.
Yeah.
And then banana.
Just before all my, like music came out, my first single.
and stuff like that.
I auditioned for a ITV drama called Britannia High.
I love Britannia High.
Right?
It is iconic.
It is iconic.
I didn't make the cut.
No.
That's right, you did better things.
Yeah.
You're still going, that one, isn't it?
But I met some amazing friends I'm still friends with now.
And that's how I first met Ed Sheeran as well,
because he was on the same audition process.
But it's funny how it's all meant to be,
because if I did that, I wouldn't,
it's a sliding doors.
things. If I did that, I wouldn't have then gone on to do whatever I did next. So at the time,
it can feel like, you know, very, you know, gutting, but then it's actually meant to be.
If in hindsight, you look back, you're like, oh, if I did that, wouldn't have done that,
wouldn't have done that. So I think that is good to remember when you're going through something
in the present time and it's not working out how you'd hoped, there's always a reason for it in the
end and you know you're going off to do something that you're meant to do instead.
Absolutely.
That's all our time.
Thank you so much for chatting you guys.
It's too, lovely to meet you.
It's so lovely to meet you.
And happy Christmas karma.
Merry Christmas karma, guys.
Well, it might be November, but that's certainly got us in the Christmas spirit.
And it believe?
Absolutely.
It's never too early.
Never too early.
Thanks much for watching.
We'll see you again next week.
All right.
