Good morning, good day, good evening. I'm, as always, your host, Brody Robertson, and today we are back for, hopefully, episode 89.
But if you don't know what happened last week, where there wasn't an episode, that's because all of my recording completely vanished.
So, hopefully, hopefully that doesn't happen again.
Hopefully, that doesn't happen again.
My strategy this time is recording in 30-minute blocks.
So you might notice that there's going to be four cuts throughout the recording or three cuts or two cuts.
However long I record for, I'm going to break it up into 30 or so minute chunks.
So if I lose one of those chunks, well, sure, I've lost 30 minutes of content,
but I don't lose an entire podcast. And that, I've lost 30 minutes of content, but, like, I don't lose, you know, an entire podcast.
And that, I think, is much better.
I could certainly break it up into smaller groups, like, you know, 10-minute blocks.
One is just two fucking one-minute blocks.
Every, like, sentence, I just break it or something stupid like that.
But I don't want to waste my time.
And I know that if I do that, like, you know, it's going to break up the way the conversation is actually working.
But with half an hour blocks, that should be enough where any topics that I was doing are wrapped up.
And obviously, it's not going to be like perfect 30-minute blocks.
Maybe I'll go 25.
Maybe I'll go 35 or whatever, anything like that.
It's going to be roughly 30 minutes.
So that's just how it's going to work from now on. And yeah, let's actually get into the actual show. So today it is the
middle of November. Okay. It's the middle of November. Keep that in mind. It'll be the middle
of November when you're seeing this as well. It'll just be different middle of November.
And in the middle of November, in Australia,
it's spring.
Do you want to know what the fucking temperature is right now?
So let's actually find out exactly what it is.
Because I'm pretty sure it's like,
yeah, it's 12 degrees Celsius.
And it was 9 degrees overnight.
Tomorrow it's going to be 15.
Now this might seem normal
if you live in the northern hemisphere in places where
you know the end of the year is cold. It's not cold at the end of the year here. It's supposed
to be like mid 30s. It's gonna be cold all week. I don't understand. This does not make any sense.
I don't know what is happening. I don't know. I'm just like, I'm dealing with this. I was wearing one of my jumpers before.
I decided to take it off, but I may end up putting it back on afterwards.
The only reason I took that off is because I was doing thumbnail pictures.
And, you know, I want my thumbnails to look a certain way.
I don't wear a jacket or a jumper during my thumbnails.
I have the shirt and the Hawaiian shirt, and you know what, wearing a
Hawaiian shirt when it's 10 degrees outside, uh, isn't, is not the best feeling, oh god, but hopefully
at some point it'll start warming up, and then when it warms up, I'm gonna just be complaining
that it's hot all the time, so, you know, I'm never gonna be happy, I would just like consistent, I would like
a season where it rises and it falls, you know, like nice, nice curves, because then I can like
accept it, I can deal with it, not when it goes from like fucking 35 degrees back down to 15 the
next day, that's annoying, but that's enough of me ranting about shitty weather. Let's
actually talk about something that people might care about. One of those things is the PlayStation
5. So I was on Twitter the other day and I was like, why the hell is EB Games trending? EB Games,
if you don't know, is the Australian branch of GameStop. I believe EB Games is also in Canada?
I don't know.
It's the branch of GameStop that exists in places that aren't America.
And yeah, they were trending on Twitter.
The reason they were trending is because...
I wonder if I can still find it.
The reason why they were trending is because they actually had PS5s available for pre-order.
But they were actually doing something really sensible.
So normally when pre-orders go up for any shop, it's going to be, especially nowadays,
it's going to be pre-orders online.
And, okay, I was right, Canada does have, um, does have, uh, does have EB Games.
But the, um, the pre-orders, right, normally they're going to
be online pre-orders, and the problem you see with the PS5, this is the reason why it's,
it's one of the reasons, obviously the chip shortage is going to lead into it as well, but
one of the main reasons is people have bots set up to automatically buy them so they can scalp them,
uh, and the only way to compete with the bots who are scalping is by also using the scalping bots to out-scalp the scalpers,
basically. In this case, though, if you wanted to pre-order a PS5 from EB Games, you actually had
to go into one of your local stores and pre-order there. So you had to, like, actually go outside,
there. So you had to, like, actually go outside, touch some fucking grass, so you can buy your console. Now, you can argue that, oh, you know, it's less convenient to do that or anything like
that, but most people are probably not going to get a PS5 if they have to compete with scalping
bots online. So, honestly, I think this is a pretty big improvement. I kind of hope to see
other retailers basically do the same thing. If not for all of their pre-orders, maybe have like,
I don't know, a couple of units per store where it's like, you can pre-order this,
but only if you actually show up at one of your stores. And hopefully you can actually get one.
of your stores and hopefully you can actually get one uh in my case though i have um no interest no interest at all in buying one because in australia if you're not trading in a ps4 pro
i believe it's like 750 dollars now that might sound like you know it's not too crazy because
australian dollars it's it's still it's still a lot of money. It's
I think more than the
I think it's more
than the equivalent of what
it should be in
like, if you convert
the price. Yeah, it's way more than it
should be. So the disc
model is $750
and then the
digital only version
is only $600. But either way,
that's a lot of money
and I don't want to spend that.
Because, look, there's...
The only reason I would buy a PS5
at this point, because there's like
two games I want to play on it.
There's, um...
There's Demon's Souls.
For me, there's one game.
There's one game I want to play on it. Everything else
I can either play on PC or it's
available on the PS4. Like Tales of Arise
for example, I can play that on
Linux. It works perfectly under Proton
or I can just buy
it for my PS4 and it will be
fine. Sure, it won't look as pretty
but it'll be fine.
The only reason I would buy a PS4 is,
um, oh, sorry, buy a PS5, not buy a PS4. Buy a PS5 is if you put in a PS4 game, because it's
backwards compatible, the PS5 basically operates as a PS4 Pro, so any games that are Pro-enhanced are gonna be enhanced, basically, but I don't really care to spend, um,
$600 just on that, so I'm gonna, like, hold off. The way I usually buy consoles, I think I've
mentioned this before, is I will wait until, like, the generation's basically over. And then buy it then. I bought my PS4.
I think two.
About two years before the PS5 came out.
Probably going to do the same thing with the PS5.
The reason why you do that.
Is firstly games are out.
There are games to play.
Also when it's getting to the end of the console life cycle.
You're usually going to have game bundles.
Whether that's like.
Oh you're going to get like. Or this game and this game and this game, or maybe you'll get lucky
and you can choose games out of this selection. And if you can choose games,
you can actually usually get some pretty good choices. When I bought my PS3, for example,
I think it was a choice of... One of the choices was Assassin's Creed...
Brotherhood?
No, not Brotherhood.
Wait, what were the...
Assassin's Creed.
Assistance, no.
Assassin, no.
Brotherhood was two, wasn't it?
Assassin's Creed games.
It was whatever number 4 was
um
was it Revelations?
is that what it was called?
um
main series
Assassin's Creed 2, Assassin's Creed
yeah Brotherhood was 3, yeah 4 was Revelations
so one of the games you could select with it was Revelations, and
that's what I got then. The PS4,
did I get any games bundled with this one?
Did I get any games bundled with this one?
I don't remember.
Um,
I'm looking at my list of games right
now. I don't,
I don't think so?
Maybe Bloodborne was bundled with
it?
Maybe?
I'm not too sure, actually.
I've had the console for a while now that I actually can't remember.
But, yeah, look, I'll get a PS5 one day.
Honestly, if I buy any console, it's going to be a Switch because there are actually games to play on the Switch.
Like, I want to play Shin Megami Tensei V,
and I want to play the new Pokemon games. I have some people bugging me to play Animal Crossing,
because I know, look, I, I know that I'm gonna love Animal Crossing, and it's going to eat into
a lot of my time. So, I will probably end up getting that if I get a Switch as well, but
Shin Megami Tensei V, I think, is one of the games
that is sort of like, it's sort of like a killer game for the console that I want to play. Um,
I still need to finish Shin Megami Tensei III, but V looks really good. Like, I, I, all of the,
all of the SMT games, besides, like, outside the ones I've played,
look good in their own ways,
with the exception of 1.
1 looks... No.
I have no interest in getting...
No interest in playing
Shin Megami Tensei 1.
You do things like,
if you summoned your demons,
it costs money
every single step you took
or something ridiculous like that.
But,
how much is a Switch?
Switch, oh, there's a bundle
with
a bundle with Animal Crossing.
That is $470.
So
what, you would drop
the price by like $70
and it's $400 for the console, and,
uh, for, yeah, $400 for the console, about $70 for the game, uh, or I could get a Switch Lite, but
I don't, I know, obviously, like, you can't dock the Switch Lite, but I presume that it doesn't have HDMI out. And if it doesn't have HDMI out, then obviously I cannot record it.
I'm actually not sure if it does or not.
Because I know capturing a base model switch is very easy.
All you do is you just take the output that was going to be going to the TV, and you
just put it through a capture card like my, uh, my Ava Media, but I don't think the base, I don't
think the light you can do that with, I could be mistaken, if someone knows, I'm happy to,
happy to hear, but I'm not sure, With this Dialga and Palkia edition,
do you actually get the Pokemon
game with you? Games sold separately.
This is a... I hate
this when they
do a custom
console, and you don't get the game
that's associated with the actual
console. That's...
Honestly, that's really mean.
Like... Can you do it over USB-C? No or maybe, can you do it over USB-C, no,
you probably can't do it over USB-C, yeah, like, it didn't used to be a thing back in the days of the DS, at least I don't remember it being, like, you'd get a Legend of Zelda DS, and you'd get
whatever Legend of Zelda game it was associated with, and, or, like, a Pokemon-themed one as well,
Legend of Zelda game it was associated with, and or like a Pokemon themed one as well.
Um, this one
I believe does come with the game, if it
shouldn't? No, it does not come with
the game. Ignore everything I said.
Well, okay, that's not
cheaper. It's just the same price as a
regular Switch.
Can we stop? Can we stop
doing this? If you're gonna do
custom additions, actually
bundle the game, please.
Just do that.
But yeah, I'll probably end up
getting
base model Switch.
Or I will...
I could always find a second hand.
You can actually find...
They're not super cheap, but you can find second hand Switches
for relatively cheap.
And, look, I probably don't really care about, um, about, like, you know, the handheld stuff.
So if the Joy-Cons are a little bit jank, well, that's fine.
I'm going to play it on my screen anyway.
Uh, I, look, it's cool that you can carry around a Switch,
but I like my big screens and capturing it.
That's also that.
So I'll probably end up playing it with whatever the...
Is it called the Switch Pro Controller or whatever it's called?
Switch Pro...
Yeah, it's called Switch Pro Controller.
I'll probably end up getting one of those as well.
And that adds more to the price.
That's more things to worry about.
So, hey, maybe if it comes down on Black Friday, I'll buy the Switch.
It won't come down on Black Friday, though.
It's not going to do that.
Yeah, that's not going to happen.
We're just not getting a Switch.
But hey, maybe.
Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe.
Black Friday is coming up soon.
So I am interested in...
There's some things I want to buy.
I cannot say words.
But that's...
I am looking at buying some things.
That's where I'm going with this.
Mainly the new lens that I want to get.
And also I'm thinking of replacing my main screen.
I talked about this in the episode that got deleted.
Or got nuked.
So my current screen is basically...
It's the cheapest 27-inch 1080p monitor I could find,
because I wanted something 27-inch, and this is what they had.
But, you know, there's better monitors I could get, so maybe I'll look into that if something nice comes down in price.
If nothing comes down in price, I'm just, you know, not going to bother.
But, maybe, maybe I'll be lucky and I'll actually find something that is worth buying.
It's a possibility, I guess.
Not holding out much hope, but it's a possibility, I guess.
And it won't affect you guys, but it'll be nice to have a nice screen as my main screen.
And then a second screen that's not as shit.
My secondary screen is not bad, but this is the cheapest.
So we have a combination of the cheapest 27-inch monitor and the cheapest monitor I could find.
So I'm not exactly working with the best visual hardware you could find but besides
that the only other thing i'm considering buying for uh for black friday is going to be like
christmas presents because at this stage i've i've got everything that i kind of want and i think I'm pretty good.
Yeah, I think I'm pretty good.
Look, it's very likely that I'm just going to think of something.
I'm like, yeah, no, actually, I kind of want that as well and I kind of want that.
But at this stage, I don't have anything
that's desperately wanting to burn a hole into my wallet.
It's more like, hey, that might be
cool to buy, and when it's, that might be cool to buy, I'm just gonna put it off for, like, two years,
that's sort of why I put off, like, my mic upgrades and stuff, where, like, I don't need this microphone,
but, like, it would be cool to have, and then eventually, I got around to buying it, and, you know,
it, it's cool to have.
That's it.
Like I wasn't wrong.
It was going to be cool to have.
But actually speaking of spending money on things you don't need,
I was actually going thrift shopping the other weekend.
I, shit, where did I put those?
Give me one sec.
I'm going to see if I can find them.
I bought some,
I'll tell you the other cool thing I bought.
I'll see if I can find the. Um, I bought some, I'll tell you one, the other cool thing I bought, I'll see if I can find the
the, the, the, the, the not
the not weeb trash thing that I
bought.
Um,
did I put them somewhere and then
forget where I put them?
That would be really dumb,
wouldn't it? If you bought something
from a thrift shop and then you forget where you
put it, and it's just
hidden around your house somewhere
Hmm, where did I put them?
Is it over here?
Yes, okay.
We're good. I didn't lose the things that I bought
So there is a shop in Australia called Savers.
So Savers, unlike a lot of thrift shops,
they're sort of more in line with like the Salvation Army
and like charity shops
where they don't know how much anything they own is worth
and they just sell it because people donate it to them
and they just, you know, donate it to them and they just you know want to
sell want to sell things at a not at a loss at at enough to cover their operating costs basically
and i picked up something actually really cool so this is um i actually got two sets of these
these were two dollars for each set this is a set of um so you can focus on it this is a set of, um, let's even focus on it. This is a set of, like,
Australian-themed coasters.
And honestly, I think they look
they look really cool.
Um, this set is just a set
of different hotels
around Australia.
So, that first one was
the Empire Hotel in
Koori Koori, uh, New South Wales.
The second one was the Commercial Hotel in Braidwood, New South Wales.
I guess...
Oh, I was going to say this one's focused around New South Wales.
But no, this one is the Imperial Hotel in Ravenswood, Queensland.
Then we have the Drover's Arms Hotel in Gornong, Victoria.
There we go.
The Maldon Hotel in, surprisingly, Maldon, Victoria.
This one, which was not part of the set, but they just left it in there.
I think someone stole this from a pub.
And this one, which was clearly very well
loved, the Albion Hotel
in Grenfell, New
South Wales.
So this set was,
as I said, $2
for all of those coasters, and I feel
like it's a pretty good score, to be
honest.
As for the second set this was also two dollars
this one was more of a a focus on like australian scenes and i can't read it because it's all
written in really annoying cursive um and my cursive is not very good
anyway uh here is the first one.
I know this is probably not great content for the audio guys.
Check out the video section for this section because these actually are like really cool.
This one is down on his luck.
Actually could read that one.
Then we have...
Is this the drover?
I think that's what it says.
As you can see, there is obviously some damage to them.
They're probably very well loved.
They sort of just donated them because they didn't need them anymore.
This one is...
I have no idea what it says.
But it looks real cool.
And then this is Winter
Evening.
And you know what? For $4
for all of that, I feel like that was a
pretty good score.
And actually kind of was fun going down
doing some thrift shopping.
Just getting out and doing something that's not the same thing I always do.
Like every single weekend is usually just me staying home,
playing video games or doing something else like that.
But I wanted to go outside and I wanted to go outside.
First, full stop, I wanted to go outside.
I wanted to go out and actually do something different for once.
And actually enjoy the world.
And that was one of the things I thought of.
And that's what I decided to do.
But that was just at Savers.
Now, I didn't just go to Savers.
Savers was just where I started.
Because I knew that Savers had a lot of...
They're good for books.
And for random shit like this.
And for cutleryy and general house stuff.
Also, I got my, the other, I think it was a couple weeks earlier.
Um, I got my MSI hat also from Savers.
So, like, you know, already got this good score of five bucks. I've got to go back
there again and see what else I can, uh, see what else I can score there. But I decided to go after
that from Savers over to, uh, over to Cash Converters, better known as Cashies. Cashies is
basically, Cashies is a pawn shop. Cashies is a pawn shop. It's a place you go because you have rent
to pay and you got to sell some jewelry or you got to sell your console, things like that.
And they're there to make money. So obviously you're not going to get crazy deals. Back in
the early 2000s, they didn't know what they had. So they you know really rare shit and really expensive shit for
fuck all money because that was based on like what they thought it was worth and what it was sold to
the map but since then like they've learned you know like ns nes games for example you can sell
for hundreds of dollars and people will buy it um but at some of the stores I went to, it
seems like there is a bunch of weebs
who are offloading some
anime figures. So,
I'll show you one of them that I got.
Now,
this should not
have been at the price that I
paid for it.
this should not have been at the price that I paid for it.
Because this thing has been out of production for a long time. And in the secondhand market, it's a bit closer to like $70 or $80.
Maybe about $100.
This is one of the Nendoroids from the original season of Love Live.
For reference,
so this is Nendoroid
500. My Nekopara
Nendoroids are at like
1,300, or
1,238 for Vanilla,
oh sorry, 1,238 for Chocolat and
1,248 for Vanilla. So like, there's been a lot
more Nendoroids since then,
and it wasn't just those figures, there was a lot of others. There was a, like, there's been a lot more Nendoroids since then, and it wasn't just those
figures. There was a lot of others.
There was a, um, there was a
a, what was it?
It was a K-On! figure. Like, one of
the original K-On! figures.
There were a couple of figures in there
that were in, like, the $200 or $300
range they knew were
$200 or $300.
So, I'm going, going like i'm not gonna go
every week because that's dumb like you're not gonna have new shit shop then but i might go just
look it's fun to just browse stuff even you don't buy anything and go down there like
i don't know once once every month or so and maybe bring some uh bring some people along and just find some crazy shit there.
Because even outside of my stupid anime figure collection.
Okay, so I mentioned to you guys that I use a Yamaha MG10XU.
Yamaha MG10XU.
So that is this. That is, the fuck was that, that is this mixer board right here, it's way overkill for what I need, but it's a really good mixer board, but this is not
the biggest version that Yamaha makes, they also make a, like... I guess it'd be a concert version
where there's, I think, like 20 inputs on it or something.
There's, like, sliders for everything.
It is massive.
So the big brother of this thing,
it was at Akashi's.
It was... I think... Yeah, here we go, it's the, it's the, uh, the 20XU,
this guy right here, this guy showed up at a, uh, at a cashies, and I think they had,
what, I think the price they had on it was, like, far, no, so $750, $750 is what they had on it,
So $750.
$750 is what they had on it.
It's just like, Jesus fucking Christ.
When it comes to audio gear, there is a lot of audio gear you can get there.
If you want a fucking blue Snowball, go to a cash converter.
Because I think I spotted eight blue Snowballs.
That is, if you don't buy a blue Yeti when you start doing youtube you buy a blue snowball that's that's sort of how it goes so eventually a lot of people offload them
and they just show up in places like that i actually still have my blue yeti i might need
to get rid of it at some point because it's it's just sitting there doing nothing i might as well
sell it so uh you know i have i get some money off it, rather than just collecting dust, basically, but yeah, that was there, um, there was a lot of camera gear there,
there was a lot of, like, six, seven hundred dollar cameras just chilling,
there were a lot of, um, I actually noticed I had a bunch of camera lenses as well,
I was looking to see if there was anything that
was catching my attention, I might need to take a, uh, a better look next time, and see if there
are any lenses there, which, you know, might be worth buying, because while, okay, the problem
they have is a lot of the lenses there aren't, aren't kept in the best condition, like, they'll
be missing lens caps, they'll be very, very dirty.
Like, not just, you know, the lens being dirty,
but, like, the casing being dirty.
So, clearly, it wasn't, like, kept in a good environment.
And I don't know the sort of quality the lens would be in.
So, I don't know.
It'd be weird buying a lens from a source like that.
Like, if you want to
buy a second hand lens
there are stores that you can do that through that
refurbish them and things like that
I don't know if you'd want to go to a
thrift shop to buy yourself
like a $600 or $700
lens, you could do it, and maybe
you'll find a good score, like
you know, the figure I found, like
there are, these things are basically perfect condition you'll find a good score. Like, you know, the figure I found. Like, there are... These things are basically perfect condition.
You can find good things there.
It's just that there's going to be a lot of stuff there that's not.
Actually, at one of the stores, I was just, like, going through.
And then I had to stop for a moment and sort of backtrack.
And, like, did I actually see what I thought I saw?
There was just a fucking katana just chilling in one of the cabinets.
Like, why?
Why is there a katana here?
Who sold a katana?
Is it a tin katana?
Is it a steel katana?
Is it a steel katana?
I have no idea.
Why is it here?
I don't understand.
But cashies is fun.
Honestly, just going to, like, going to random thrift shops is fun, it's not as fun if you go to some of the smaller ones, but I live fairly close
to, like, the, um, I live fairly close to the city, so there's a lot of the bigger stores where they'll
have, like, crazy shit, obviously, the boring stuff, like, TVs. Hey, man, you want some fucking drills?
You want some fucking drills?
You want some drill batteries?
Man, you can get yourself a fucking drill battery pretty cheap.
Also, there's these...
If you've ever...
If you've ever been on a construction site in Australia,
or you've been near someone who works on a construction site,
you have seen one of these things.
I have seen so many of these fucking Makita Bluetooth radios.
I think in one store, there was seven of them lined up next to each other.
Never buy one of these at full price,
because you can buy them second hand at like
half the price, I don't know, like they don't sound good, the only reason you buy them is
because they're made to be run over by a truck and continue working while they do that, like
that's, that's why you buy them, um, but yeah, if you want one of these, hey yeah man, cashies,
cash is a good way to go. Or anime figures, apparently.
Actually, pop figures.
I hate, I fucking hate pop vinyls.
But if you like your dumb pop vinyls, yeah, you can get pop vinyls there.
Because, you know, when you collect shit like this, you're going to eventually run out of, you
know, room, run out of space, and, um, yeah, eventually people are going to just offload
them into a store like this, and they just crowd all the shelves, oh, why do they look so bad? Like, look, compare a Nendoroid.
Compare one of these.
Okay?
Compare this cute thing.
This cute thing compared to this absolutely cursed being.
Like, why?
Why would you buy Funko Pops?
I know that these things are more expensive, but like if you're collecting things
like
Surely you don't like every single one of the series you're buying right like I know people who collect Funko pops
not because they like the series that the Funko pops are from but because they just like the idea of
Collecting Funko pops and if you want to collect figures
Go to Japan Japan's got Japan's got some much better figures you can
find.
But, hey. It is what it is.
Spend your money how you want to spend your money, I guess.
I will laugh at you for it, but people will laugh at me for buying the anime
figures in the first place. so I guess we're basically
in the same camp.
So it seems like my strategy
of breaking down the podcast into
sections actually works out
pretty well, because there was no problem with the
audio there, so let's just
keep going forward, and hopefully there's no problem with the audio
this time, because
actually that reminds me of a dumb problem
I had the other day so I was
recording something I was recording clips for whatever video I was doing that day and I recorded
the clip fine next one fine next one fine next one fine next one fine then it breaks I changed
no settings nothing happened it just stopped working Why did it stop working? Well,
oh no, I don't know. I got no idea. I didn't change anything. Nothing changed on my system.
I restarted my mixer and everything was fine. So I don't know if it was the mixer board playing up or if it was my drivers playing up or if it was something else, it was OBS playing up,
it was something playing up, and I, I've not really been able to sort of get down to the,
get down to the bottom of the problem. I sort of just have been trying to mitigate the effects of
the damage, which is something I should have been doing, honestly, for a while. But, um,
moving back to topics.
Do you want a really shitty keyboard?
Because I know I do.
God, this thing is ugly.
So for anyone listening right now, I'm sure you've seen these before.
But it's one of those keyboards that have the circle keycaps.
They made sense on a typewriter
because it was a very big unit.
It was a very physical unit.
This is just a regular keyboard,
but it has circle keycaps.
And...
It's not even a good color scheme.
So this is part of Logitech's
cutesy pop keys keyboard.
I don't know what makes this keyboard cute.
I'm actually unsure.
It's...
Okay, no.
Forget everything I said. This keyboard's
actually amazing. It has got
hardware emoji keys.
It has got
fucking hardware emoji
keys. it has got fucking hardware emoji keys oh my lord okay you know what this is the greatest keyboard i've ever seen it's also a
is that a 60 is that what it would be i guess it's modified 60 because you've got
extra keys here for your emoji stuff.
I think, yeah, I think you'd call this modified 60%.
So because it's modified 60%, oh, it's also a Mac keyboard.
Wait, I'm sorry, what?
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Is it a Mac keyboard?
Wait, what?
Okay, now I'm very confused by this keyboard.
So it's designed to work on Windows and Mac, Wait, what? Okay, now I'm very confused by this keyboard.
So, it's designed to work on Windows and Mac,
but the... Like, the...
The button prompts on it are Mac prompts.
Except where they're not.
So, it's got...
I hate that.
Okay, so instead of having, you know,
you have, words, you usually have the Windows key
that has a Windows icon on it.
And, you know, if you're using Mac, you're not going to...
Or using Linux, for example,
you're going to see the Windows key.
You don't really care about it.
What if we change it from Windows to be Start?
It's no longer a Windows key, is it?
It's a Start key now.
I guess, look, if you've got it running on Windows, it's technically not wrong.
It is a Start key.
It's just, I've never seen a keyboard that refers to the Super key as Start.
Could we just, could we just put Super on there?
Like, just put Super on there.
That'll be fine. I guess you could, like, make custom keycaps for there? Like, just put Super on there, that'll be fine.
I guess you could, like, make custom keycaps for, like, a mechanical keyboard and do that,
I'm sure someone has done that, but, like, just put Super there, not Start, or at least a Windows
logo, at least a Windows logo, and I think we're good, um, but logic, wait, this is a mechanical
keyboard, this is a mechanical keyboard, it's got, wait, it's got browns on it? Hold up, hold up.
What the fuck is this keyboard? The more I look at this thing and the more I'm confused.
So it's got
Circle keycaps, it's got
hardware emoji keys, it has got a start button, not a- a Windows button, and it has got a start button not a uh a windows button
and it's got brown switches
what who okay who's looking for brown switches on a keyboard like this you know look some maybe
someone maybe there's one person out there who wants a keyboard like this you know it's like some maybe someone maybe there's one person out there
who wants a keyboard like this with brown switches but what the hell considering it's browns though
you could swap out all the keycaps for sensible keycaps if you really wanted to for some reason
but i guess then it would just be a a 60 keyboard that has a shitty purple and baby vomit green as the background.
This is such a weird keyboard. Also, I was going to say, I don't understand Logitech's logo,
because they seem to have like three different logos they use at the exact same time.
So this is my G305. That's the front of it.
The back of it has a different logo.
That one has one that says G and a Logitech.
Then there's apparently one that says Logi on it.
But there's also one that says Logitech
that still sometimes uses their old logo.
And I don't understand Logitech's marketing department.
You would think that you would want to um,
you would want to homogenize.
Yeah, that's the one. You'd want to homogenize your logo use and
use one thing so that people know
what you're doing.
Um, but I
guess not. I guess
like the G could just be
for their gaming brand, I guess?
Maybe?
I don't know.
I know that they still
use their other logos for other things,
like, their webcams will have a different variation
of the Logitech logo,
so, like, I don't know.
Man, I'm sure there's
a reason for it. There's gotta be a reason
for it, or they just, well,
they're just trying to keep themselves in a job. There's gotta be a reason for it. Or they just... They're just trying to keep themselves
in a job. That's also
certainly an option. I could certainly
see that as well.
In case you couldn't know, I...
I'm not
exactly planning to buy this.
Oh, it's also $99.
Yeah.
So, like, the price of
two of these...
Actually, how much is this one?
I forgot how much my Cherry Stream was.
Maybe it's one of the Cherry Streams.
I do like my Cherry Stream.
It is a beautiful keyboard.
And people can bully me as much as they like
for using a Scissor Switch keyboard,
but it is a great keyboard.
Yeah, it's two of them.
This is a $52 keyboard in Australia. It's
So I guess you buy three of them then because if you go with the American price, yeah, it'd be much lower
Mmm
I like my keyboard. I'm not playing to replace it anytime soon. There's no problems with it
It's doing everything it should do. It's got nice media keys on it. All of it feels lovely to type on.
There were some issues early on with, I guess, buttons feeling a bit strange.
But those were sort of, I guess they were sort of factory issues.
What I mean is sometimes you'll buy like a keyboard, you'll buy a car, you'll buy anything and
after you use it for a while, it's going to operate a little bit differently.
It needs to sort of burn in the, or burn in, burn out.
It needs to like get used to actually being functioning.
You don't want to like break off a little bit of extra plastic that's stuck on there there's just like you gotta you gotta make sure the the the key lube is being spread
out all that sort of fun stuff um like when i initially got this some of the keys like squeaked
a little bit but as i've been using it more like that problem has completely disappeared so at this
point i i honestly i don't think I could use a different keyboard.
I feel like this is the
best keyboard I've ever had, and it's
$52. I've
used multiple $100
mechanical keyboards before,
and honestly, nothing lives up
to my Cherry Stream.
There's, um...
Build quality is,
uh, you know, you can work on that one. But, as for the rest of it, I think Build quality is...
You can work on that one.
But as for the rest of it,
I think this keyboard is the one I'm going to stick with.
Now...
Actually, that leads us perfectly into something.
So I found this article over on The Verge.
And I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
So this is sort of a dumb story,
and I don't know what to really say about it.
Basically what happened is...
Okay, it's not...
Where is it?
Let's see if we find typing.
So basically there are trials that are going on.
And the judge that was there basically lectures everyone sitting in the public section that they are typing too loud.
Basically, there are journalists.
There are people who are at a trial, you know,
trial people, whatever you want to, whatever people end up being at a trial, and, um, yeah,
they're basically typing too loudly on their laptops, which laptops don't have, like, loud
switches, you have to be typing pretty fucking loudly to be making noise with a laptop,
loudly to be making noise with a laptop especially because a lot of these people are probably mac users as well and mac like the mac switches are notoriously light um but this is just such a weird
story i don't really have anything to say about it all i just wanted to say is this is hilarious
that there's someone who's getting this angry about
people lightly typing
on a, um...
on a, uh...
thingy. On a
laptop. Or you get
a touch... Oh, this is not a good
suggestion. Please never suggest
that someone should buy a touchscreen
if they want to make their typing
quieter. I'm sure you guys have, you know, used phones before, but
have you ever used a full-on touchscreen keyboard?
Something that is like a big piece of glass that you just type on like a keyboard. Because I have.
They're fairly common if you have to like input stuff on a, um, on like a big
big, um, tablet screen, for example,
they're bad, they're very fucking bad, or, like, you go to, you know, McDonald's, and you want to
search up something on their, their, like, um, their, their, their, their self-order thing to,
uh, put all of the, the, the wage slaves out of business. It's so bad.
It's awful.
It's such a bad typing experience.
Why would you ever want to do that to yourself willingly?
It feels like a kind of light torture.
I would much rather just never type again
rather than having to type on something as shit as that,
like, to be completely honest, like, I, look, I, I can just handwrite stuff the rest of my life,
I don't need a type, I, I, I'm good here, I'm good, we can type and we can use voice, that's all we need,
actually, you know what, voice might be worse. There's someone
in my Twitch chat
who shows up and
does all of his comments while he's
in his car through
voice commands. Like, he will
use, um, what's
the word? Is it
voice
transcription or whatever the feature
is. Whatever you would call it,
he converts what he says into text, whatever that thing is called, um, and god, the amount of
mistakes he has, I don't know what's worse, to be honest, typing on a touchscreen, or
not typing, and just using voice to type,
because I'm sure the idea of using voice to type can be good.
It's just to make it good,
you need incredibly complex and incredibly powerful AI models
and they take up a lot of space
and don't exactly fit too well on a phone, for example.
Like they can, but they don't fit too well on a phone, for example. Like, they can, but they don't fit too well on a phone,
and you end up getting these
questionable,
questionable messages. Like, they're not bad,
and they're probably fine if you have a
fairly, a fairly
clean accent, but
judging by some of the comments I get,
yeah, he doesn't.
He does not, and, yeah,
there's no way to get around that so like
stop just just stop watching my streams in your car like that's all you need to do i'll get the
abort in your car but like there are other things you could do in your car rather than
listening to live streams hopefully he's not actually watching them he's just listening to
them uh if you're actually watching my streams please don't do that while you're driving. I highly suggest against doing that.
That seems quite dangerous.
But if you want to listen, well, look, I'm not going to judge you.
I'm going to judge you for doing that, but I'm not going to say that you can't do that.
Yeah.
I'm so fucking tired. I'm always tired. Can't do that. Yeah. Ugh.
I'm so fucking tired.
I'm always tired.
Tired is my existence.
Maybe when I move to my new place,
I won't be tired all the time.
I won't be tired all the time because I'll actually be able to sleep
because I don't have a housemate
that wakes people up at 7 in the morning
by playing a stereo every morning.
I wish I was joking.
That's actually what happened.
My life is great.
It could be worse.
To be honest.
I'm actually doing pretty good.
Besides that shit going on.
I'm enjoying what's been going on with the channel recently.
I've been enjoying making content. To be honest. I've enjoying what's been going on with the channel recently. I've been enjoying making
content. To be honest, I've actually been enjoying making videos way more than I have in quite a
while. Like, there are times where I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut, but the channel where it's like,
I'm doing the same things over and over again, like, not obviously the exact same videos, but the same style of videos,
like, it's always, oh, we're doing a, a news video, we're doing a Vim, I haven't done Vim
videos in so long, maybe I should do that, actually, um, but, like, I'm doing, I'm doing
software showcases, and after you've done however many videos I've done, it does start to,
it does start to drain on you a little bit, but I've been sort of experimenting with doing
more, I guess, trying to add more humor into my videos, I think is a good way to put it,
I think is a good way to put it where I'm
I'm leaving in
some mistakes that I think are
funny
I'm trying to set up comedic
bits to sort of
engage the viewer more
I'm trying to
make my videos better
than they are before
because there are different ways
I can make my video.
Or I can improve my video. I can change up
my lighting and make that better.
I can get a better lens.
I can get, I can't really get a better mic.
There are better mics, technically, but, like,
I don't need a better mic.
This is as good as anyone should
sensibly go. But, like, that's the point I'm getting at.
Like, there are physical things I can
do, and, but it becomes, like, a limitation like a limitation on how much you can improve the content like that.
There's a lot of places where maybe not I can improve my videos,
but there are obviously places where I can do that as well.
But places where I can sort of change up the way the videos are structured
to make them potentially more engaging.
But it's sort of a lot of trial and error in that case.
It's a lot of, hey, does this work?
Maybe a little bit, but not as much as I would like.
Oh, maybe I can try this instead or this instead.
Oh, that actually hit really well.
Maybe that's what I should try doing as I go forward.
And that's sort of what I've been doing recently, plus digging into things that I hadn't really dug
into before. Things like digging into the Linux kernel, looking at different kernels, looking at why you might want to run them, testing out different kernels.
My Zen video will come out when I stop being lazy and decide to do the data part of it.
And yeah, I've actually been enjoying making videos much more than I have been for quite a while.
It's not like I ever stopped liking them.
Like, that's not what I'm getting at here.
Like, there's a difference between being excited to make videos
and being content making videos.
I think, yeah, that's a good way to put it.
I think for something on, like, a long-run scale,
you can't rely on excitement to be the thing that drives you forward.
But being fulfilled, being content,
feeling like you're actually doing something good
and that you are actually getting better.
Things like this, I think that's what you need to focus on for more long-term engagement in something.
Not just in content creation.
That could be in a sport.
It could be in some skill.
It could be a hobby like woodworking, for example.
in some skill. It could be a hobby like woodworking, for example.
Like, if you hate the idea
of whatever
you do, chiseling, cutting
wood, whatever the fuck you do in woodworking,
if you hate the
idea of, like,
if you hate the idea of the general grind,
no amount of excitement
is going to keep that being cool.
Because even if you hate the idea of woodworking,
there would be certain parts of it
which would be incredibly exciting.
Or like working on cars, for example.
I'm sure doing burnouts is a lot of fun.
But if you hate the idea about,
like if you just hate the idea
of having to change tires,
having to like service your own engines,
things like that,
I'm sure you would hate the idea of being a car guy,
but if you feel fulfilled by that, if you feel content by it,
if you feel like you're actually doing something good,
or at least you're...
Maybe not...
How would I phrase doing something good in a better way?
Doing something...
Doing something that's leaving your mark on the world,
I think is a good way to put it.
I think that's what you need to make sure something is
a long-term...
A long-term...
Project to focus on, I think.
I could be talking out of my ass,
but that's the way I feel about it,
and I think a lot of the psychology literature
sort of backs that up as well.
Something like excitement.
Excitement, for for example or happiness or um joy things like that these are
very these are very time specific emotions like feeling happy feeling joyful feeling excited or
great things but you can't be excited 24. Unless you're some sort of absolute loony, most normal
people cannot be excited 24-7. They're going to have, you know, those bits of excitement,
and excitement is going to be what ends up getting you to make a change in your life,
and get started with a new thing. Like the first day you do.
Taekwondo for example.
Like when I did that as a kid.
Sure it was really exciting.
But I didn't really care.
To keep it up.
So even though there were bits of excitement.
Like the overall thing.
Was not something I really cared to.
Cared to keep up.
Cared to like keep going to.
But then there's YouTube, for example,
where, sure,
it's really exciting
when I upload a video and it gets
10,000 views in
the first 12 hours.
First 10 hours,
apparently.
And it has a 10-minute minute average watch time and I'm getting
43,000 views
in a 48 hour period
like all of that's really exciting
but even when that's
not happening
I still want
to
I still want to keep making the videos.
And I still feel like it's something that is...
I still feel like it's something very important to me.
And something that, even if less people are watching it,
it's still putting a positive mark on the world.
Even if not everyone understands the points that
i'm making uh for example in today's video which today is uh when i uploaded the the lightest tech
tips video the first part of that so in today's video um i i added a lot of context to the way, to what Linus and Luke were actually doing
as they were going through Linux.
But a lot of people, I guess not a lot of people, there was a couple of people who perceived
that as me being critical of the way they approached Linux, like this isn't the way
that you should have been using it, like, that's not what I was doing at all, but what I had expected with that video is Linus and Luke were
gonna go through their things, and then Anthony was gonna add commentary to the video afterwards,
Anthony didn't do that, so I sort of wanted to. I wanted to add that extra context there.
To sort of explain.
Why Linus and Luke.
Did things wrong.
Like what was wrong there.
Why did it go wrong.
How would you not do it wrong for example.
And I feel like by doing that.
I can add.
I can add a lot of.
Positive information. To. to a topic that needs...
It needs some...
I can't say I'm unbiased.
It needs some voices that are willing to accept their biases.
I think is a better way to put it.
Because you can't say you're unbiased like it's it's very difficult to do something from a completely unbiased perspective you're going to
have your innate biases that you cannot you cannot eliminate but you can be aware of your biases to
make sure that your biases are not clouding what you're doing, what you're saying.
And I think that's the way I wanted to approach that video.
But because you're being critical of their favorite YouTuber, or it seems like you're being critical of their favorite YouTuber,
there's going to be people who take that as a, um, take that as a personal slight
against them, like, not just them as the creator, but them as the viewer, takes it as a personal
slight against them, because they sort of base their entire personality around the, around the,
the creator's personality, around, they base their personality around the personality.
Personality meaning the content creator.
The influencer.
Whatever you want to call them.
Things like that.
And when they see them being attacked.
They feel like it's a personal attack against them.
And you end up getting.
You end up getting people being defensive
and not really paying attention fully to what you're saying, but even with people that were
being defensive about that, I've noticed that if I sit down and just be like, yo, this is actually
what I'm doing here, this is the way I approach this video. Every person I've talked to so far
has been like, oh, that, you know what? That actually makes a lot of sense. I,
I can see what you were doing there. That, that makes sense. I don't agree with all of the, um,
all of the points that you brought up. Um, but I can see where you were going with that.
I have had some people disagree with one of the points I brought up, though.
And been, I guess, willing to get into an argument about it.
So, in one of the points that Linus made, he was saying that Linux articles, Linux journalists, basically have no idea what they're doing.
And post a lot of information that sort of contradicts each other.
And we all agree with that.
Journalists, for the most part, are shit.
And there's good apples among them.
Most of them, though, you know, most of them aren't great at their job.
There's too many of them.
And when you have that many people, you're going to have a lot of people who are kind of shit. There's a lot of people who are kind of average gonna have a lot of people who are kind of shit
there's a lot of people who are kind of average but like a lot of people who kind of shit as well
but what he said was uh in one of these articles it described ubuntu as easy to use and user
friendly but then in the cons it said hard to or hassle to get gaming set up and my argument was that those things don't
contradict each other in fact they can both be true at the exact same time but in Linus's video
he said they seemingly contradict each other which I feel like is entirely inaccurate, because you can have something that is easy to set up, easy to use,
and just generally 99% of the time is a great experience, but then you have 1% of the time
that's the gaming, and you're like, okay, well, gaming is a hassle, but all of the rest of it
is perfectly fine. For anyone who doesn't, like Like anyone who. I'm sure most people get.
Get what I'm saying here.
I'm going to draw you a.
I'm going to draw you a diagram.
So.
Let's say.
We have.
Linux.
I could make this bigger.
But I'm not going to do that.
This is Linux.
Right.
Right.
This circle is Linux.
And.
Let's say that all of this, all of this colored in section is Linux being easy to use It is then not a contradiction to also say that Linux is easy to use but then
This section right here whether that is whether that is a gaming whether that is video editing
image editing
kernel modifications is a hassle and difficult to set up. All of this
pink section is easy and that makes it an easy to use distro but this one little bit is difficult.
I don't think that having those two statements being true at the same time
is a contradiction. The point he was making was that these articles do have contradictions
and that is true. But that point was a bad example. And I'm willing to argue that point
as many times as people want, because I feel like I am completely right here. I can,
look, I have pictures. I can draw examples of why I'm right, but
the point he was making was true, not the example, the point though, so there are, uh, articles that
say that Manjaro is an amazing beginner's distro, and then you'll go to the next search result,
and it'll say Manjaro is a horrible beginner's distro, and you'd never use it, so you'll still
find these contradictions, it's just, I don't think the contradiction that he brought up was
actually a contradiction.
Moving on from that, I want to talk about my new mouse and I did talk about this during the Lost episode,
but I feel like it's sort of better to talk about it now anyway, because during the Lost episode,
I actually hadn't had a chance to go and test it yet so right now my my
MMO mouse this that's why I bought a new mouse this is a Logitech G 600 it's got
three primary mouse buttons because this is a fucking weird mouse and it's got 12
buttons on the side because it's an MMO mouse, and I am
honestly loving this thing, it is fucking great, so it was a bit of a pain when I first plugged it in,
because I've never used an MMO mouse before, the most I've used, I think the G502 is the,
yeah, I think that's the, the mouse I've used that has the most amount of buttons on the side.
So I've never used an MMO mouse before.
This has been like a big learning experience for me.
And as for the working with the buttons on the side thing,
so I had previously watched Zeppelin's video
where she reviewed the G600.
That's one of the reasons why I bought this mouse.
One of the things she did to improve her experience using the MMO mouse
is change the way her hotbars were actually laid out.
So normally when you lay out your hotbars, you're going to have bars that are 1x12.
So they're going to be these long bars that go across your screen. But you might notice that the button array on the side here
is arranged in a 3x4 manner. So Final Fantasy XIV actually allows you to have your hotbars
in the exact same layout. So what I did is did exactly that. So now I actually have three hotbars in the exact same layout. So what I did is did exactly that. So now I actually have three
hotbars that are all laid out in that 3x4 manner rather than three 1x12 bars. And that makes it so
even if I forget what button I need to press, I can map what I see on the screen to what is on
the mouse. And it's made it so it's been so
much quicker to actually learn
how to use this mouse.
It hasn't been perfect. And
even now, I've been using this for about
two weeks or so.
Even now, it's not
perfect. I'm still making mistakes.
But I feel like
I'm already doing better
than I was doing before. One of the
problems I was getting to with the with not having MMO mouse is I feel like as
you get to higher and higher level content if you're great with MMOs I'm
sure you can handle this but I'm not I'm still fairly new to the the hotbar
style MMO.
Having to hit buttons that go all the way across your keyboard is not a comfortable or a pleasurable experience.
And getting to avoid that is great,
because I was starting to get to the point where I couldn't keep up my abilities.
I couldn't keep up my GCD abilities, keep up my GCD abilities my global cooldown abilities
But when it came to off global cooldown stuff there were
Frequently times that I pressed the wrong button uses the wrong ability where I would think I just not hit the button quick enough
and sort of waste time with getting my damage out, especially when it's a
off GCD that's
Not like a situational thing where it's a, um, an off GCD that's not, like, a situational thing, where it's, like,
just extra damage output, so, obviously, it doesn't matter as much for your, actually, no, it kind of
matters even more for your defensive stuff if you're a tank, um, because you want to make sure you're
reducing damage to not put as much stress onto Onto your healer. But.
When it's like less situation.
Or when it's more generally situation.
At the point I'm at.
A lot of my.
Interrupts for example.
Interrupts I don't need to worry about.
Because there's just not really any situations. Where interrupts really matter.
Like there are things I can interrupt.
To make it a little bit easier.
But like you don't need to. But when I started using this mouse, holy shit, I feel like I,
once I, I got used to it, I just went up, like, 10, 10, 10 levels of, of ability to play this game,
because now I can actually use all my hotbars, because to actually access my other hotbars,
use all my hotbars, because to actually access my other hotbars, rather than moving my fingers off of the movement keys, I now just hit my pinky on either my control or shift and access those
bars. So I can actually keep my fingers on the movement keys and still, you know, use my abilities.
So in the case of, let's say there's an Ao AoE. There's a, like, a red circle AoE or orange circle AoE.
I guess it is in Final Fantasy.
You can move out of that AoE and also use abilities.
That's something I couldn't do before.
Like, there were maybe ways to do it by, like,
leaning my thumb on the S key
and, like, moving my fingers like that or something.
I don't know.
But combining getting the MMO mouse
with moving over to the sensible,
the only correct movement, legacy movement,
I have gotten so much better at this game
and it's gotten more and more fun.
If you don't know, basically in Final Fantasy,
there are two styles of movement.
There are standard and legacy,
also known as legacy and
wrong. So, legacy movement, actually, we'll start with standard. Standard is the style of movement
available in games like WoW, where your movement direction is based on the direction...
direction your movement direction is
how do I describe it?
Your movement is based
on your camera.
That
No, sorry.
Your movement is based on where your character
is facing.
Yeah, no, sorry. I got that backwards.
Based on your camera is correct,
it's based on where you're facing, so if you're facing forward, and you press forward, then you'll
move forward, but if you're facing forward, but your camera is facing off to the right, you're
still going to, you're now, you're now going to move to the right, like, to the right, based on
where the camera is facing, so you have
to sort of worry about where your character is facing, plus when you do standard movement,
you can't back up, you just, you press S, and you slowly walk backwards, because it's trying to do
this, I don't know what it's trying to do, it's such a bad system, but you switch over to
legacy movement, also known as, I play video games, and I know what movement actually is like,
and the way that works is, like you're playing literally any other game, so it doesn't matter
what way your character is facing, it's entirely based on the camera, so if you're facing an enemy right and you have the camera
so you're facing an enemy actually no we'll we'll do like this yeah yeah you're facing an enemy
that's in front of you the camera is over here so you as the player are looking like over in this
direction when you press the w key you're going gonna move over here. You're not gonna move
in the direction you're facing.
It's such a basic thing, and
I don't know why it's called standard
legacy. Legacy makes it seem
like it's, you know, a deprecated
thing, an old thing, a bad
thing. It's called legacy because
that's the way the old game used to work.
Like, that's how
RPGs usually work. That's how the old Final Fantasy used to work. Like, that's how RPGs usually work.
That's how the old Final Fantasy used to work back when it was shit.
But, yeah, doing those two things,
the legacy movement and the MMO mouse,
has been absolutely great.
I've been enjoying dungeon content way more.
I'm slowly
playing through
I can't lie I'm not playing through MSQ right now
I'm actually doing gold sources stuff right now
yeah I don't know
why I discovered
that gold sources was kind of fun
and I discovered that platforming
is kind of fun and now I'm doing gold sources
stuff for some
unknown fucking reason,
um, but I should go back and do MSQ, because I am in Realm Reborn, and, you know, there's, um,
there's a few hundred hours before we get to the, like, the modern content,
oh god, but one day, one day I'll finish MSQ,
Oh, God.
But one day, one day I'll finish MSQ.
One day.
One day.
Maybe, I don't know,
will be two or three expansions after Endwalker by the time that happens.
And maybe by then I'll finish Heaven's Ward.
It's possible.
I don't fucking know.
Now, I'm thinking I'm at, like, level...
I think I'm at level 30 in the MSQ.
So, you know, I'm past the halfway point pre-patches.
Because there's still the patch content to do with Realm Reborn as well.
So that's going to take a while after that.
But I've discovered the joys of dungeon content.
Like, early dungeon content isn't...
It's not bad.
Like, I don't want to say the early dungeon stuff,
like the level, you know, level, like, 10, level 15.
It's as early as dungeons 15.
Level 15, level 20, level 25 stuff is bad.
It's not bad. It's not bad.
It's just not good.
What I mean is it's very basic.
It's like, oh, you are...
It's Babi's first dungeon.
To be honest, that's what it is.
So it sort of makes sense why it's so easy.
But then you get to places like Aurum Vale.
You get to places like Cutter's Cry.
And you're like, oh, you could actually die in this.
Like, prior to that, the only time I died in a dungeon is when Alhela DC'd.
That is the only other time
I died. But then when we got to
Aurum Vale and all that fun stuff,
then I started actually being like, yeah,
I totally get the whole dungeon thing.
I get why people run dungeons.
I get raiding. This is probably
where I'm going to live and
spend all of my time. Except that
I'm probably also going to be grinding out glamours
because that just sounds like fun.
Final Fantasy is a great game. I was talking about
this MMO mouse, and I got sidetracked
by Final Fantasy.
Back to the mouse itself. So I said it has
three primary mouse buttons.
So we got your left,
your, your, your, your, your,
that one, left, left,
you got your right, and you got your right-to-right.
So basically
when you hold this, your ring finger
sits on the right-to-right.
I don't know what to call this mouse button.
I'm going to call it right-to-right.
I haven't found
nothing, because I've never used
a mouse before that has three primary mouse buttons
and when I hold this mouse
I very frequently
hit that button. So if I haven't found
something actually useful, well
it's not going to go too well for me, is it?
So I don't do that.
I just let it be.
I let it exist
and let it just
Let it just do its thing I guess
Mmm
But I I have seen some people who buy this mouse who say this is like one of the killer features they buy it for
Like this is this is the reason why they own the g600 because of the third primary
Third primary mouse button.
And I can get it.
If you get used to it, I'm sure that having a button on your ring finger is probably great.
And for whatever you're using it for, it's probably really, really efficient.
It's just, I've not, I could probably get used to it. I've just not found a use for it. That's my thing. Like, I, I just don't know what to do with it. Like,
I probably could, like something that, it has to be something I want to hit very often,
but I don't want to hit too often, if you get what I mean. Like, I want it to be something I
have to hit very often but if I
accidentally hit it it's not a big deal
and I just can't think of anything
that sort of fits that problem
because most games are designed around
two primary mouse buttons
so like there's not a
third very important action you'd want to put
there maybe
I
no I can't think of anything.
I mentioned this in my G600 review,
but if you can think of anything,
I would absolutely...
I would love some sort of idea.
Just any idea, whatever you
got, that could help
me out with that, and I'll take it.
The mouse
is also very, very comfortable,
and overall, it's great great one thing i didn't
mention about the button grid i'll see if you can see it with the camera actually
yeah you can probably see it so the buttons actually aren't just a they're not just a
they're not just a 3x4 grid.
It's actually two 6-button grids.
So, two 3x2 grids.
And the buttons in each of the grids actually curve inwards to the grid.
So, you can sort of feel where your finger is without having to, you know, work with completely flat buttons. Plus the fifth key and
the eighth key have these little plastic bumps on them. So you can very easily work out where the
center is as well. So it's a great mouse. It's great on Linux as well because Piper supports
it completely perfectly. And I still love my G305. Um. Yeah.
So I'm actually.
I'm actually using two mice right now.
I've got both these plugged in.
And you might think that's crazy.
Why don't you just use the G600.
And you know what?
I could.
Because G600 is great.
But.
I love this mouse.
It's a beautiful mouse.
It's great.
It's light.
It's.
It's very.
It's not got a fucking cable on it.
That's actually the best thing. And I'm keeping the G305. It's. It's very, it's not got a fucking cable on it, that's, that's actually the best thing,
and I'm keeping the G305, it's, it's still my favorite mouse, but it's not gonna be my favorite,
it's not going to be my favorite mouse when I play Final Fantasy, and I think it's perfectly fine to have a separate mouse for Final Fantasy, because there's no different from having a flight stick, for example, or a flight stick or a fight stick
for your flying games and your fighting games, or having like a DDR pad, or having a Guitar Hero
controller. I think it's perfectly normal to have specific peripherals for certain games. It's just
most people don't think about their mouse as one of those peripherals.
It's just like, oh, I have a mouse
and that's just the mouse I have.
But I think there's certainly some value
if you are getting into a hotbar MMO
to look at one of these mice.
If not the G600, maybe the Razer... Naga? No, it's not the Naga, is it? No, it's
definitely not that one. Razer MMO mouse. What is it called? No, it is the Naga.
Yeah, it is the Naga.
I don't like... Yeah, this has not got...
This has got, like, somewhat of a...
A curve, I guess, but it's nowhere near as pronounced as it is on the G600.
On this one, you can see, like, they're angled inwards,
inwards, but not, like, in a curve. They're more, like, just angled inwards, like a V.
Also, the 5 and the 8 don't have plastic nubs on them or plastic bumps on them,
so it makes it a bit harder, I would presume, to work out where you're placed. I'm sure you can get used to it.
I'm also just not a fan of Razer hardware to begin with.
I've never, I've never really, not never.
I haven't been a fan of Razer hardware since I was like 13 years old.
Ever, ever since I discovered Logitech and discovered like their gaming brands.
Yeah, I've been look as much you shouldn't simp for brands. I've sort of been like a Logitech shill for
Probably a good ten years. There's been a very short amount of time where I've not been using Logitech mice I don't care about the keyboard. I don't really care about anyone's keyboards except my cherry, but
mice. I don't care about the keyboards. I don't really care about anyone's keyboards except my Cherry. But for mice, Logitech is generally my go-to. Corsair also has a mouse that does look
pretty interesting. I know... Actually, I don't know if the Razer mouse is easily configurable under Linux. I know there is a program called Razer CFG
that allows you to configure stuff on...
Configure the Razer hardware under Linux.
But I don't know how well it works for the Naga.
Okay, yeah, no.
It seems like it's entirely stable for every, all of these versions of the Naga.
I don't know...
What is the current version? What is the current version actually called?
It is the...
That's the Corsair.
Naga Trinity, or maybe...
I was looking at the Trinity there, and Trinity's not in this list.
So, I don't know if that would actually work on the Linux,
or whether it wouldn't.
It could be the exact same internals as another one of the Nagas, though,
so maybe it's fine.
The G600 I knew was going to work, though.
As for the Corsair, that is the Corsair Scimitar.
That one I think is the cheapest of the three.
But this one...
The way that this one makes it so easy to work out the buttons
is it has...
Firstly, it has a bump here, which is great.
But also it changes the texture of the button. So rather than
using a curve method, it's flat, great, flat, great, I guess you'd say. I don't think, they
are also curved inwards as well. So not curved as a cone.
But they are V's.
And they are changing materials.
So button 9 here and button 8 would feel physically different.
Even though they're in the same row with the same material. I think that the Scimitar is a better design than the Naga is.
This is just going by images.
I haven't used it, so I can't really say.
But judging by the pictures here,
it does look better than the Simitar would be.
Better than the Naga would be.
I believe that there's good...
Good configuration software under Linux as well. Yeah, CKB Next, that's the one you use for
Corsair mice, and, oh no, this is just for, this is just for RGB, um,
is it, maybe, maybe CKB Next does more than that, uh, it actually might,
Maybe CKB Next does more than that.
It actually might...
Corsair Scimitar on Linux.
Let's have a look.
Generic Excel drive will work for... Yeah, we know it's a mouse.
Configuration.
This is always something you should check
when you're buying hardware like this for Linux.
Oh, okay. You can use CKBnext for it.
I thought CKBnext was just
RGB. But no,
it does all of the same stuff that Piper does,
but holy shit, that is an
ugly interface.
It's not like Piper
is great, but that diagram
is not very good.
Let's see if we can find a picture of Piper with G600. is great, but, like, that diagram is not very good. Um...
Let's see if we can find a picture of Piper
with G600.
Nope, because that's bringing up
a picture of a plane.
Um...
Basically, it has, like, a really good
like, industry-style
diagram with lines going
to the things you want
to modify. I think it's a
really clean diagram. It's just that
the application doesn't make a great use
of space, and there's a lot of
just empty screen,
basically. I feel like they could
eliminate some of the tabs on
high-resolution monitors and just put everything
in one place. That, I think,
would be a good
change.
Or even just doing it on, like, low...
Like, no one has, like...
I guess, except the weird people.
Someone at a concert's going to say,
oh, but I have a 720p monitor.
I have a 480p monitor.
I'm sure you do.
I know those people exist,
but, like, most people have at least 1080p.
And, look, you can make better use of space.
Like it literally just has a diagram in the center of the screen.
And then I would say like 60% of the screen is just empty space.
So like there's a better way you could be using that space.
And you really don't need five separate tabs just for all of the information.
Some tabs are nice, but
there's a bit too many of them.
So yeah, I would recommend
the G600, and
it's great to configure under Linux.
It saves everything on the mouse if you want to do it on Windows,
but you don't have to.
And yeah, it's a good mouse.
Moving on from
my mouse, so I don't keep talking about Final Fantasy.
Let's talk about...
No, actually, there's nothing to talk about here.
I just want to show you this video.
I love video game modding.
And this is the reason why I love video game modding, because stuff like this can happen.
So this is...
I just can't see it like this if I fullscreen happen. So this is... I just can't see it like this on full screen.
So, this is
Dark Souls. This is a sniper rifle.
And we are hunting
um...
I guess...
I don't know, what are they called?
What are they called?
I know the evil one. You call the evil one an imposter. I don't know. What are they called? What do we call them? I know the evil one.
You call the evil one an imposter.
I don't play Among Us because I'm not 10 years old.
And I'm not a Twitch streamer who likes to make shit loads of money.
I think that way. Is that a replacement for an assassin?
I think it is.
Man, video game modding is great.
Dark Souls in 2021.
That's basically the state of Dark Souls in 2021.
You gotta make...
How old is that game?
You gotta make a 10-year-old game fun somehow
if you've played a thousand hours.
Dark Souls numero uno.
Came out in 2011.
Jeez, it is 10 years old.
Is Dark Souls 1
hard? Not
really.
It's really not that difficult.
What is the hardest video game
boss ever?
Yo! Let's have a look at
this list.
Okay, let's see the hardest video game
bosses ever and how to beat them.
And obviously.
There is a.
Is that Dark Souls 3?
I think that's Dark Souls 3 there.
Uh.
I have not played Street Fighter 2.
Dark Link in Zelda 2.
The Adventures of Link.
Okay.
Dracula in Castlevania.
I like how. Three of the first games on here are old games that are jank because they're old games.
And we just didn't know how to make games back then.
Aha.
Sinister from Sinister.
Whizpig from Diddy Kong Racing.
Sure.
Emerald Weapon from Final Fantasy 7.
I've never actually played 7, I should go back
and play 7, actually does look like, it does look like a, uh, a fun game, um, oh god, did I just,
did I actually just see that on this list, okay, okay, here's the first one we're gonna, we're
gonna see that's dumb, I should go back and play a lot of the older Final Fantasy games, the only,
I should go back and play a lot of the older Final Fantasy games.
The only one I've played all the way through is X,
which is a fantastic game.
It's an absolute masterpiece,
but VII, I hear, is also very good as well.
Ornstein and Smough.
If you thought taking on one Dark Souls boss at the time was already hard enough
try squaring off against two at once
this is what makes defeating
Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough
one of the most challenging boss
battles in the entire series
are you fucking
high?
if you want to make things easier on your shelf
summoning an L player is always an easy way out
fair enough
after one of the enemies
is defeat
after one of the enemies is defeat
the other will absorb the powers
of the fallen foe
therefore focusing on using
therefore
focusing on one at a time is a must. Ornstein is likely the easiest
to defeat, uh, since he's the hardest to distance yourself from. Using some lightning resistance,
armor, and fire-based weaponry will also give you a slight edge during this most, uh, this brutal
and unforgiving fight. Ornstein and Smough is a fucking joke. Like, if we're just going with Dark Souls 1,
I wouldn't even put Ornstein and Smough in, like, the top five list.
Like, Ornstein and Smough is so fucking easy
because there are pillars around the entire arena.
And it doesn't matter who you defeat first.
It's probably better to kill Ornstein first.
But, like, it doesn't matter who you defeat first
because they'll both get stuck on the pole.
You just walk in a circle and you win.
And that's while doing melee as well.
That's not a difficult boss.
If I was going to give it to a Dark Souls 1 boss,
Artorias?
Manus?
Calamite?
Any of those are harder than Ornstein
and Smough? Actually, let's
look at a full list of Dark Souls 1 bosses.
I'm trying to remember all of them, but my brain
is...
It's been a long time since I've played Dark Souls 1.
Dank Souls 1. Dank Souls 1.
Dank Souls 1 bosses.
Okay, let's see a full boss list.
Asylum Demon.
That's funny.
The Cheese Demon, sure.
Belgargo.
I think Belgargo is difficult the first time you fight it,
but really not a difficult fight.
Capra Demon is annoying, not difficult.
Ceaseless Discharge is a joke.
It's a joke
because it's insanely difficult, and it's a joke
because you can just
cheese it and don't fight it.
Centipede Demon...
What was the Centipede Demon?
Shit, what was the...
I don't remember the centipede demon
uh
vitamin then you won't have to worry about oh this one
yeah no that one's easy yeah that one's that one's easy Chaos Witch, Quelaag
Quelaag's nothing
Quelaag you just, you hit once
and you run away
Priscilla, I don't remember Priscilla being
difficult, Gwyndolin is
broken because you can just hide behind
the pillars and don't take any damage
Demon Firesage is
just Asylum Demon
with one extra attack
Four Kings
I would say Four Kings is fairly difficult
The Gaping Dragon
is also
No, Gaping Dragon is just annoying
Gaping Dragon is not difficult
Sif is not too bad
Sif is a pretty easy boss, I would say.
Gwyn, Lord of Cinder.
I would, honestly, Lord of Cinder is way harder than Ornstein and Smough.
Obviously, you can cheese this fight by parrying every attack.
But if you don't parry attacks, I think Gwyn is actually much harder than Ornstein and Smough.
Uh, Iron Golem? No, Iron Golem's easy.
Moonlight Butterfly?
No, Moonlight Butterfly's very easy
It's just using attacks and you dodge them
I guess that's every fight
It's not a difficult fight
Nito is broken because they forgot to
design the endgame properly
Onsen Ismo
as we said, not difficult
Pinwheel? It's not even a boss
Seath? Honestly, Seath is harder than Onsen Ismo Stray Demon is just difficult. Pinwheel, it's not even a boss.
Seath, honestly Seath is harder than all I've seen in SMO.
Stray Demon is just Asylum Demon
with more steps. Taurus Demon
is broken because it can jump off the
edge of the arena, and also you can get
half its health defeated, like
the Asylum Demon at the start of the fight.
And Bed of Chaos is
broken because they didn't
finish Endgame.
Expansion bosses.
Artorias, way harder.
Black Dragon Calamite, way harder.
Manus, way harder.
Sanctuary Garden.
Sanctuary Garden.
Sanctuary Guardian.
Nah, I would say all of these are way harder than Artorias and Smough.
Anything in the
mini-bosses?
Honestly, the fucking Hydra
is harder than Ornstein and Smough.
To be completely honest, the Black
Knight. I don't think we can call a Black
Knight a mini-boss.
Or the Channeler.
Yeah, no. Look, I disagree. If we're going to put a or the channeler yeah no
I disagree
if we're going to put a Dark Souls boss on here
it's not going to be Onsen and Smough
Alma from Ninja Gaiden
Mike Tyson from Mike Tyson's Punch Out
okay
I hear that is a difficult fight
C'Thun from World of Warcraft.
The problem with World of Warcraft is...
Well, yeah.
Defeating C'Thun is increasingly easier over the years after a number of patches.
Basically because you increase your item level and you just win.
Nowadays, any of the early patch content is just easy.
Goro from Mortal Kombat.
Yellow Devil...
Yellow Devil... That's a weird font, Yellow Devil
from Mega Man, okay, Senator Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, I should go and actually
play Revengeance, that honestly looks like a really fun game, Platinum makes amazing fighters,
and, like, I, I've never played Revengeance, uh, Sans, fucking Sans from, Sans from Undertale,
I hate Undertale, I don't know if I've said
this before, but I genuinely hate Undertale
and don't care about its existence at all.
Um,
Orphan of Kos
Bloodborne.
Okay, this is Bloodborne
DLC. I was gonna say, because I haven't fought
this boss yet. I am playing through
Bloodborne at this point, and
you know, this boss yet. I am playing through Bloodborne at this point, and...
You know, actually, I'm going to look at the Bloodborne bosses. I'm going to look at the ones that I had difficulty with. Bloodborne bosses. So, some of the bosses were an absolute
fucking cakewalk. Some of them were really difficult. Blood Starve Beast was a joke.
Very easy. Cleric Beast
was only difficult because I was
just starting the game. I don't think
it's actually a difficult boss.
Father Gascon,
Gascoin, whatever you want to call him,
defeated him on first shot.
Witch of Hemwick is a fucking joke.
I got stuck on Vicar Amelia for a very long time.
Honestly, I feel like that's harder than most of these other bosses.
And Shadow of Yharnam, it took me like three attempts, I think.
But Shadow of Yharnam's an annoying boss.
I think out of the bosses that I've fought so far,
the hardest was
probably
Amelia, I would say.
Yeah, I
reckon.
Uh,
oh, we did fight
Rom the Vacuous Spider.
I
fucking hate Rom.
It's not difficult.
It's just...
It's just very...
Very time consuming.
I actually should go back and fight some of the optional bosses.
Because I know there's going to be some of them that I have missed.
Chalice Dungeon bosses.
I have not done... Is this endgame stuff, I actually don't know what
this is, yeah, okay, this is Endgame stuff, that's actually kind of cool, I didn't know that was a
thing, um, enemies, yeah, honestly, some of the enemies have been harder than some of the bosses,
to be completely frank, the, uh, the, the Bloodlickers, ers, this is where we're at right now, fighting the
guys with giant nutsacks, anyway, moving on from this one, Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts 1, I think
that's entirely fair, in 2, Sephiroth is difficult, but 1, he's a whole different beast, Sephiroth is so much harder, um,
this human, is he an alien, I didn't know that, Dark Souls 3, The Nameless King, I have not finished
Dark Souls 3, so, yeah, I, I can't comment on that, really I've defeated like one or two bosses in that game.
So I don't feel like I'm going to spot comment on that.
I know I...
Is this...
Oh, it's a bullet hell.
Skolas from Destiny.
And what is it number one?
Absolute Virtue from Final Fantasy XI.
I've never played XI. So yeah, I can't comment on that, but,
I disagree on the Dark Souls one, because, wait, wait, let's look up hardest Dark Souls bosses in
order, uh, hardest Dark Souls, we'll go one. Hardest Dark Souls 1 bosses.
Yeah, here we go.
Game Rant. Thank you, Game Rant.
Okay, what are the hardest Dark Souls 1 bosses?
So, 15.
Asylum Demon.
Is there 15 bosses in this game and it just put Asylum Demon in 15th?
Because it's...
Because it's the first one you fight.
But no, this, if there's more than 15 demons or 15 enemies or 15 bosses, this shouldn't even be on the list.
Uh, Bell Gargoyles.
I think the first time you fight them, they are difficult.
Because the first time you're fighting two bosses at once and it looks very, very intimidating.
Because it's the first time you're fighting two bosses at once.
And it looks very, very intimidating.
But.
You can sort of.
You can focus on one of the Gargoyles at once.
Iron Golem.
Aha.
Honestly, Sen's Fortress is harder than the Iron Golem.
No, no, no.
Ceaseless Discharge is the easiest boss in the game.
Um. No, no, no. Ceaseless Discharge is the easiest boss in the game. You can fight the Ceaseless Discharge, but like...
Honestly, if you know the cheese, Ceaseless Discharge is easier than the Asylum Demon.
That's not even a boss. That's not a real boss.
Centipede demon? Okay.
I don't know. I feel like send to be demon... I feel like send to be demon is easier
than gargoyles, if we're being completely honest.
Capra demon? Okay.
Sure, that's fair.
Seath the scale...
I don't know. Capra Demon, okay. Sure, that's fair. Seath the Scale.
I don't know.
I feel like Seath should be higher on the list,
but we'll see what else they have.
Gwyn, Lord of Cinder in eighth place.
Yeah, Gwyn is a joke if you can parry,
but if you can't parry, Gwyn is incredibly difficult.
I think maybe in that case, putting it dead in the middle sort of
makes sense. Sanctuary
Guardian is 7th. Okay.
Four Kings
is 6th place.
Um.
I personally would see
a bit higher on the list and
Sanctuary Guardian lower. I feel like Seath is way higher on the list and Sanctuary Guardian lower.
I feel like Seath is way higher than the Sanctuary Guardian.
Uh, Bet... Bet of...
No, Bet of Chaos isn't a boss fight.
No, Bet of Chaos is not a boss fight.
Bet of Chaos is...
Okay, so if you don't know anything wrong...
Um, if you don't know the problem with Bet of Chaos...
Basically, the endgame for Dark Souls 1 was rushed,
and there were a couple of bosses that were left completely unfinished.
Mainly things like Nito, Bed of Chaos.
This is why they don't really do much.
They just were never finished.
Bed of Chaos especially, you don't fight the Bed of Chaos.
You just dodge the Bed of Chaos, and you smack a fight the Bed of Chaos you just dodge the Bed of Chaos and you
smack a little harder around
and you win. Bed of Chaos
should be way way way way
way lower on this list. Seath is
way harder than Bed of Chaos
Fourth is Ornstein
and Smough
I would put
Four Kings above Ornstein and Smough for sure
The most notorious boss duo in gaming history I would put Four Kings above all and send in Smough for sure.
The most notorious boss duo in gaming history.
What are you talking about?
They're not that difficult.
Third place... Manus...
Okay, if Calamite is not first place, I don't know what's going on here.
Manus is third place.
Okay, Calamite's's gonna be first place for sure
Artorias is second
okay this I can agree with
this layout I can absolutely agree with
no doubt
Calamite is insanely fucking difficult
it's not difficult once you know the strat
but it's insanely difficult before that
Bed of Chaos should be in like 15th
Bed of Chaos at't be in, like, 15th, uh, Bed of Chaos at 15th, I think,
I think, no, sorry, shit, what's easier, Bed of Chaos or Ceaseless Discharge? I think Ceaseless Discharge is easier, because you literally don't have anything to do, I think 15th goes to Ceaseless Discharge, 14th goes to Bed of Chaos.
I think that's a more fair way to put it, in my opinion. I've played Dark Souls 1 in a while, but
that's how I would do it, at least. So do you guys know about Twitter Blue?
Apparently, Twitter has a subscription thing.
I actually didn't know that that was a thing.
I literally learned about it a couple of weeks ago.
And there are really basic features being added.
It should just be fucking basic Twitter.
So, Twitter will now let you pay to undo tweets and read ad-free news in the US
and in Australia, Canada, New Zealand as part of Twitter Blue.
I don't care about this.
Like, if you want to read ad-free news,
you block, just download that.
But this, why is this not a standard feature?
Do you know how many arguments could be stopped
with the ability to one edit and
Undo tweets sure you can delete your tweets. Yeah, that's that's fine, but
Why is that not a feature that you just give to your regular users?
I look I'm fine with you having a paid subscription. That's fine
I'm never going to pay for it because that's
stupid. That, like, that's genuinely dumb. Why would I pay for Twitter? Like, if, if Twitter
ever made it so I had to actually pay for it, like, to just do basic shit, or you had, like,
a number of tweets you could do every month and you had to pay for it if you did more,
I just would stop using Twitter. Like, I don't care about Twitter enough for that.
using Twitter. I don't care about Twitter enough for that.
But Twitter Blue costs
$3 US
a month. That
is
probably going to be
$5 Australian.
Let's actually see what the Australian price is.
Twitter, because it says
equivalent price, but
I have a feeling it's
not as equivalent as it could be.
How much it's going to cost in Australia?
Gizmodo Australia, give me the deets.
Give me them deets.
Will it change how I use Twitter?
Well, it will because you can undo tweets.
$4.49 a month.
So what's more important?
Do you want to get...
Hmm, what could you get for $4.49 a month?
You could get four frozen drinks from McDonald's.
Or you could pay for Twitter Blue.
drinks from McDonald's or you could pay for Twitter blue
Why would you bookmark tweets
Stop See apparently you can bookmark tweets
That you can't already do in your web browser for free.
Why would you pay for that?
Undo tweet, which is something that should be free.
Reader mode.
Wait.
Gone are the days of trying to read lengthy threads that feel clunky and split up.
You can read the whole thread in plain text.
Another thing that should be a basic feature.
But luckily, there are third-party apps that let you do that and you don't have to pay for it.
I can see what they're trying to do.
They're putting these really, really useful features that people have been asking for, for, I don't know, like since the day that Twitter was born, basically behind a paywall.
Like, oh yeah, we could give you undoing.
We could give you a proper way to read threads or, or you could pay us four and a half dollars a month if you live in Australia and $3 if you're in the US.
I'm just like, you know what? I don't care enough about Twitter to do that I'm just gonna I've been using Twitter for for this long without that feature so I'm just gonna keep using Twitter
for much longer without that feature or I'm gonna use something else it's not the main Twitter
client you could even use the Twitter client that Twitter owns. That is better.
Called TweetDeck.
I don't know why people use the main Twitter website.
The main Twitter website is god awful.
TweetDeck is so much better.
Or there are like really good.
Really good third party clients. That you'd use as well.
That is better as well.
Twitter.
Speaking of massive corporations. Who want to take all your money.
We all know.
I don't know.
Do we all know?
We probably know about Amazon Game Studios.
Amazon Game Studios.
The developers of such fantastic titles as New World.
They exist.
They make games.
They're also making. titles as New World, they exist. They make games.
They're also making as players
leave Amazon,
as they leave
as they leave
New World,
they're
probably going to go to a new
game that's also published by
Amazon, being Lost Ark.
So, Amazon loses players in one game they go to another game that is published also by amazon uh so amazon doesn't lose anything
these are some ridiculous costumes i've it oh it's a south korean mmo That makes a lot of sense. Like, look, I don't, I don't hate these designs,
but like, I really don't like the design. I really don't like the designs in Korean MMOs.
Like, if you think Japanese MMOs have ridiculous armor, go play some Blade and Soul. Go play the Korean version of Lost Ark. Go play any Korean
MMO, and you'll see it's so much worse than it ever possibly could be in a Japanese MMO. There
is obviously, like, a level of ridiculousness there, like, more than you'd have for an American
game, but it's, it's, like, orders of magnitude less. Anyway,
where I was getting at with this was that apparently this exists.
There's a Netflix gaming.
Like,
Netflix, obviously they have
their like, they have
their like
series stuff,
but like,
they actually like have more than that.
I don't,
like, Netflix has like a game publisher thing.
I didn't even know this existed.
And they're actually doing things.
Oh god, no, no. Oh, it's just a picture, they're actually, like, doing things. Oh, God.
No, no.
Oh, it's just a picture.
Okay.
It's cool, I guess.
If Netflix wants to get into gaming as well, that's cool.
That means more companies that are going to jump onto the NFT thing.
I don't know if you've been hearing about this,
but a lot of fucking game studios have been jumping hard onto,
let's get NFTs into gaming.
Guys, you want NFTs in your video games?
You want to make money from your video games?
It sounds compelling, doesn't it?
It surely does.
Well, why don't we just integrate NFTs into our video games?
And sure, there's use cases i guess for like you
know owning skins and selling them you don't exactly need a blockchain to do that um you
you don't need a blockchain do that you can do that with a regular database um but EA has been jumping on the NFT thing.
God, can you imagine what's going to happen when EA integrates NFTs
into their sports games?
I was listening to Mudaha talk about this the other day,
and when that happens, can you imagine how absolutely insane they're like their fifa is
for example there's going to be people actually trying to make so much money selling fifa packs
and selling like specific specific soccer players from the FIFA packs.
And it's going to be hell.
This is just more of a reason for me to just play indie games.
Like, go to indie developers who just want to make good games,
who don't want to integrate NFTs into everything.
They just want to be like, you know what?
I want to play some Stardew Valley.
I want to play this game.
I want to play that game. I don't want to deal with NFTs in my video
games and just let us
all have a wonderful,
wonderful, wonderful fun time.
But, it's not
going to happen. It's not going to happen.
It seems like the way the AAA
gaming is going is like this.
And I know that Square Enix is
doing it in some of their mobile
games, and you know what? If it's in their mobile games, that's
fine. I really,
really hope that it
never comes
anywhere near Final Fantasy
14, because if it does,
honestly, that's going to be enough for me to
quit the game. Sure, I love
this game. It's great.
It's been a big part of my life for the past couple of weeks.
But even if I'm with it for a couple of years,
if they decide they're going to integrate NFTs into the game,
look, I don't want crypto in my game.
Just let me play my damn video games,
and I'll do my crypto stuff not in my video games.
Just imagine NFTs in a video game and how bad and how absolutely like bad and also endorsed by the
developers real money trading is going to be. Like, imagine FIFA, but
NFTs, and then you can, like,
buy and sell the best athletes for, like,
$300.
It's basically...
It's basically card games
on crack.
Digital card games on crack.
That's what it is.
Or you could even do it with
digital card games. Like, make... Like, I don't know, one of the digital Yu-G could even do it with digital card games.
Like make, I don't know, one of the digital Yu-Gi-Oh games
or digital magic games, for example,
and do exactly that.
And just create the most fun and pleasant experience
that everyone is going to have a wonderful time with.
Anyway, I have so many other topics on here that I just did not talk
about, I've just been, I think it's just because I'm actually, like, feeling happy about making
content once again, like, feeling excited about making content once again, I just didn't talk
about most of it, I talked about random other shit, um, could that be that I went outside and
actually did things, so I actually have stuff to talk about, that is a possibility, but,
outside and actually did things, so I actually have stuff to talk about, that is a possibility,
but, I don't know, um, so I think that's going to be pretty much it for me, I think we're close to time, I actually don't know what the time is, because I, uh, you know, split
it up into four parts, all the parts have worked perfectly, it's been great, this is
the way I'm going to be doing it from now on, and it seems like it's a perfectly good system, and I think it actually works better for the, um, for splitting it up
like that as well, because it gives me a chance to sort of think about what I'm going to talk
about for the next half an hour or so. I can, like, check over my topics and be like, you know what,
maybe I'm going to cover this one, and this one, and that one, rather than just trying to wing it
for two hours in one massive long string. It does make
the recording go for a little bit longer, but I think overall it makes for a, at least, slightly
better experience. But let me, let me guys you know, let me know down below what you guys think,
and if it's shit, I'll do something else, I, I don't know what I'm gonna
do, but I'll do something else, so if you like this podcast, and you watch, and you watch,
and you want to watch the audio version, want to watch the audio, you want to watch the video
version, it's available on YouTube and Odyssey, the audio version is available basically anywhere,
basically anywhere you can find audio podcasts.
Just knocking shit off my desk.
I've got a gaming channel called Brodie Robertson Plays
where I live stream twice a week.
Upload about five or six YouTube shorts.
My main channel is Brodie Robertson.
I do Linux content.
I do Linux content.
And I do Linux content.
So if you want to go check that out,
that is Brodie Robertson on YouTube and on Odyssey,
and I think that's gonna be
pretty much it for me.
Actually,
if you want to channel the checkout,
go...
I've been watching
not Zeppela's main channel,
I've been watching her
live stream clip
channel, and it's fun
go watch Zeppela's stuff
she is
she's great
yeah that's all I have to say about Zeppela
that's going to be it for me
buy anime figures from
thrift shops because apparently you can get good deals
sometimes and find some
cool old stock and
I'm out
