So, welcome to episode 10 of Tech Over Tea. I am, as always, your host, Brodie Robertson,
and today we have Kenley on the show, who hasn't actually got anything to advertise,
so we're just going to call him Kenley. Welcome to the show.
Oh yeah, I'll be Kenley. Thank you for having me. First time on a podcast, so first time
for everything.
That seems to be the case with everyone, though, so...
Yeah.
Connor at least knew what
he was doing when he was i guess talking about his stuff but pretty much everyone else i've
brought on has had literally nothing to advertise so it's fine honestly i don't even really care
it's just it's fun chatting to people yeah definitely especially during this quarantine time
yeah but i definitely i definitely see your face more than
anyone else that I know. Well yeah Connor he's not doing anything but he's
not making videos either. That's true. Like he has no excuses right now he
should be just smashing out content. Yeah the excuse he had when I was
talking to him was he doesn't have props so he
can't go out to get the props for his videos either mmm that would be a
problem like which way is is that turning it down is that turning it up
that's turning it up okay my face seemed a little bit bright oh it yeah it's
pretty bright but I'm guessing it's not the case on the actual recording I know
I'm literally recording my screen right now
because I don't have a way to...
As I was saying before, I don't have a way to do webcam loopback.
Yeah, fair.
I might just...
There. Is that better?
Yeah, that's much better.
I don't look like I have a bright light on one side of my face.
Nothing too overexposed.
But, yeah. I don't look like I have a bright light on one side of my face. Nothing too overexposed. Yeah.
But yeah, right.
He was saying he can't go out and buy props.
Is that his excuse?
This was when the lockdown was a lot more severe and when toilet paper was completely unavailable.
And now, I was talking to may the other like yesterday
he said he went to like like two shopping centers and they were there was like hand sanitizer
everywhere just like boxes and boxes of it and then i was checking aussie bargain or aussie bargain
last night hand sanitizer everywhere i haven't seen enough it's
gonna be sorry I haven't been to many other stores myself but I know that my
local Woolies they have toilet paper now they've got hand sanitizer behind the
other the front counter because I guess people are stealing a lot of it Wow and
they have a shelf of toilet paper which is pretty impressive but mice the store
I work out as well also we've got a bunch of toilet paper, which is pretty impressive. But the store I work at as well, also, we've got a bunch of toilet paper.
I don't know about hand sanitizer.
I haven't worked in a while, so I couldn't tell you about that.
Yeah.
Yeah, there's going to be a huge oversupply of hand sanitizer, I think.
And I'm pretty sure it actually expires as well because the ethanol evaporates.
Yeah, I wouldn't know about that but it probably does.
Yeah. I can't imagine they are perfectly air sealed where they wouldn't evaporate so. Yeah
I mean I don't think we're gonna get to the situation like oil where we're gonna be paid
to take it off their hands but. That was hilarious. I know. I was like, mate, just buy up oil now. You're going to be rich.
I can't believe that happened.
That just shows how much of a joke the economy is.
Exactly.
It's just all the countries and just they're just having like a pissing contest.
And then it is.
Yeah.
But hey, we still I'm still happy with the 90 cent petrol.
That's good enough for me, to be honest.
Yeah, it's actually, I think it was like 79 cents here yesterday.
Yeah, it's always really cheap here in St. Clair.
It's the northwest suburbs.
For any of the Americans watching, that would be about... 50 cents?
Yeah, 50 cents per litre.
I can't remember what the conversion rate is.
Maybe 40 or something cents.
Yeah, it's actually 50 on the dot.
50 on the dot, is it? Okay.
Jesus.
So I don't know how many litres are in a gallon.
I'm fucking no.
I actually should no I actually should
I really should set up a way to actually do
previews here
that would be cool
in the future
when you actually
have a proper place to do it
maybe you have someone who
do all the fact checking
and get up like
Joe Rogan
I need a JV like get up like a like joe rogan i need a jb so yeah just
get up like a website and if anyone's looking for a job i can't pay you but i need a jb
that's what i'll pay you in like i don't know toilet paper or something
no mate my lbc is mine i need. I need that for my Lambo. Oh, yeah.
Do you have any other cryptos?
Any other substantial investments?
Not at the level I have of LBC.
I've got a bit of Bitcoin.
I've got a bit of Cardano.
And I've got a bit of Bitcoin Cash.
Yeah.
Bitcoin Cash is mainly just so I can do conversions between other currencies, because Bitcoin is fucking god slow.
Yeah, the conversion fees are pretty high on Bitcoin as well.
Yes, they are.
They are a little ridiculous.
Yep.
I lose like a dollar or two every time I do a transaction.
And then you've got to also include the um the the exchange fees as well
yeah um the you the australian dollar is so bad right now what exchange do you actually use
um i actually use coinbase just for day-to-day just like quick transfers because i can just do
it on my phone yeah yeah but um that i actually handle it through
a friend who does the payments for me because he has like something like he has like a actually
has like a um cold storage thing for bitcoin as well so i actually store store okay maybe not maybe like $600 worth of Bitcoin on there on the cold
storage yeah so I mean that's nothing though I actually bought it when it was
like $80 like ages ago wait what'd you buy it $80 the Bitcoin the 600 actually
I think it's worth more than that actually it might be 600 us i'm
honestly not sure i just just kind of leave it there and just not worry about it i would do all
the transactions on the coin base coin base one yeah jesus christ i'm honestly if it comes across
that way i'm not a crypto guy because I know it's way too
volatile to actually be considered as a proper investment.
I'm definitely a shares.
You're more into the shares, aren't you?
Yeah, not even individual.
I'm like low risk, just like index funds, ETFs.
Yeah.
ETFs are where it's at.
So how did the economic collapse of
the other month make you feel oh um well good and bad here's the thing though even though it was
i i wish i could say that i had a plan for this and I had made like the best decision ever. But I actually sold most, okay, maybe like 70% to 80% of the stocks I had
because it was past the one-year capital gains thing.
Because that's like a, I think that's an Australian thing, I'm pretty sure.
I honestly don't know.
I'm not sure, yeah, that's not something Iian thing i'm pretty sure i honestly don't know sure yeah that's not something
i know too much about but yeah um so you pay like like half the capital gains tax if you hold on to
a share for more than a year so i had held on to most of them since i was like 19 so it's and i
just wanted to just make it easier for me and just consolidate all the several shares I had
and this was right this was like maybe a week before the shares just tanked and just went down
to like 2017 numbers and okay it was I was just being lazy and I didn't buy it back because I use, oh my
God, I don't know, self, oh God, I can't even remember the broker that I use.
Anyway, what is it called?
Anyway, so it's like a complicated thing where you can't, it's like the cheapest brokerage because Australia has like crazy high fees
for buying shares.
I know in the US there's like Robinhood and Charles Schwab and stuff
who have no brokerage share trading.
I wish that was the case here in Australia,
but it's like all the big banks have like a 20 fee
per transaction i know it's it's insane i haven't looked much into share trading but
yeah that's that's absolutely insane yeah and if you go above i think it's five thousand dollars
of shares gonna buy it's like a percentage from then on right okay that makes sense so with
this one i think it's called self-worth or self-wealth i i'm honestly i forgot because
it's been a while but anyways it has like a flat ten dollar fee for any amount of like shares you
buy but the thing is you have to transfer the money into, they give you like an ANZ account kind of thing.
It's a bit dodgy, but it's not, okay, it's not dodgy, but it's a bit messy.
But basically, you have to transfer the money there, wait for it to arrive into your account from your actual account.
And then you can use the money in that account
that you've transferred to buy the shares and this takes like two to three days just to
get there because they don't have osco right which means i had put it off for about a week and a half because I'm just lazy and doing these things.
But it turns out the stock market was tanking as soon as I was about to buy.
And I had sold most of my shares when it was almost at like peak levels so i decided maybe i should
hold off a little bit longer so yeah i i did buy them back but i didn't quite buy them when they
were see here's the thing i still believe time in the market beats timing the market.
Right.
But when there's a golden opportunity like this...
I wish I had bought at the bottom.
I don't know why.
I should have just dropped some money in there
because everything that I was looking at has shot back up.
Like my LBC has tripled in price the past month or so.
Wow.
It went from a 7th of a cent and now it's back to the price it was pre-collapse.
So it's back at like 2.5 or so.
Wow, that's crazy.
Yeah, I couldn't quite buy it at the bottom.
But here's the thing though.
Was that the bottom or is it going to go further down?
Yeah, it was what I was worried about.
I was worried about a full collapse.
Yeah.
Well, a lot of people are saying that it's a bull trap.
And I mean, I go on Wall Street bets a lot and ASX bets.
People are just...
I mean, obviously, it's all about the memes on there,
but I wouldn't exactly take financial advice
from 99% of the posts there or the people there
because, oh, my God, the people that you see just lose millions by just...
Oh, God.
It's insane, especially on Wall Street Bets.
I'm always worried about just losing like
a couple hundred but imagine imagine just all of a sudden losing a million dollars
how would that make you feel uh especially in like the u.s because there are like
no brokerage fees there are just a lot of impulse buys, I think. So you just, yeah, it's crazy.
But I couldn't quite buy at the,
well, at least the low that it hit,
but I did buy it substantially lower
than what I sold it for.
Yeah, okay.
So you did make a profit on that at least.
Definitely, yeah.
Which will greatly outweigh any dividends that I'm going to get.
Plus I actually reinvest the dividends anyway.
There's a little, I guess like a checkbox that say, want to reinvest dividends I think that's just
compound interest
I'm all about the fire
I really should
probably look into actually getting into investing
but I always take a brief look
and I'm like I'm worried
and then don't
and then I look at how much I could have made if I did
and I was like fuck
yeah I mean it's it is a bit of a gamble Yeah. And then I look at how much I could have made if I did and I was like, fuck.
Yeah, I mean it's, it's, it's uh, it is a bit of a gamble.
Oh it's absolutely a gamble, especially when you're in the crypto market.
Oh, oh yeah, that's just like the world's biggest...
Crypto is speculation, anyone who says it isn't is just full of themselves.
Yeah.
But I imagine...
Yeah, crypto can can I imagine shares
are almost as bad
but
Shares are pretty bad
if you invest in
I only invest in
two individual shares
but the rest are just ETFs
which are
broad index funds.
I don't know what it's called
in the US.
I think this is called
index funds.
I'm not sure.
Yeah.
Yeah.
If I were to give you a tip, Brody, I would just say,
if you want a low-cost, low-maintenance thing
that you can just set it and forget it,
I would recommend Vanguard VDHG,
which is Vanguard Diversified High Growth.
It's an ETF.
You just chuck your money in there,
have all the money you want forget it and just
keep it there for as long as you want check the dividends reinvested it's basically like
it's the uh three four pi portfolio which is like a like 10 this is the high growth one, so it's like 10% bonds, 30% Australian, 30% overseas, and then something else.
Right.
So that's why I wanted to...
The reason why I sold them was so I can consolidate all the individual ones.
Well, not even the individual.
It's like just the several
ETFs. So it's like
the SX
200 one.
All that. It's just
a lot less hassle
to just have fewer
shares.
Wow, I talk a lot about
shares. I was not expecting this to become
an economics podcast the instant you come on.
Oh.
It's fine, it's a- definitely a different topic from what it normally is.
Yeah, definitely.
It's a lot of games usually, and I'm not- I'm definitely not a gamer.
Yeah, I'm not much of a gamer myself anymore.
Like, I have- I have a PS4 in here, and I have-
Oh? I have a PS4 in here and I have... I don't actually have an Xbox One, but I have an Xbox One controller in here.
But I just...
I feel like I'm just wasting my time now when I play games.
That's the big thing for me.
That's how I felt back in high school.
And I've never owned a console either.
I actually never played... I've never properly played any games.
I mean, of course, I've played like A Mate's House or whatever.
It just never got me as something to waste several dozens of hours a week on.
So it just, yeah. I feel like even though i do other things that are just
time wasters like when i'm not busy with uni and stuff i'll be watching anime but yeah i feel i
don't know i just feel like when i'm uh playing a game i'm just wasting time because a lot of the
time i don't really enjoy it like especially a lot of a lot of the games i like
which are jrpgs a lot of them are really grindy i have no idea what jrpg is a japanese rpg
oh okay right so like the most i'm like 100 plus hour games and they have a lot of um
a lot of the content is mainly just grind to the next level so you can beat the next boss, and then you beat the boss.
Time to do some more grinding for a couple of hours and get up a couple more levels.
What's the... How are the in-app purchases on Japanese RPGs?
Mobile games are infinitely worse than anything the west has to offer
there are literally games
that their entire
their entire model is
hey give us some money
roll for some jpegs and then
keep playing
that like
there would just be a percentage chance of you getting
the character that you want
and just give us money
I know some guys who put tens of thousands
of dollars into it
and that is how those games survive
oh that's crazy
yeah
there's usually like a handful of people that just
keep
smaller games alive but they just burn
money on them
yeah the whales are how those games
live without the whales then it wouldn't work yeah but then some people just have way too much money
just not care oh i'm well aware i've mentioned this on twitter but because i showed this on the podcast... Right, yeah, I think I remember.
Some dude was like,
here, have 300 euros and buy yourself a better bottle of whiskey.
Whoa!
I was like, I'm sorry, what?
What did you just do?
You should just plan, just buy the Col Coles home brand, like soda, whatever.
We're just making the money.
Get some boxed wine or something, put it on my desk.
Yeah.
Just like a goon bag.
Yeah, that's the plan.
That's how I can make all my profit.
I used to have that exact same drink bottle, but then I went running with it and then I dropped it.
Yeah, I actually transitioned to this one I actually had this from when we had open like open week oh geez wow I never used it it's just on my cupboard
of unused water bottles and I broke my other one like a couple weeks ago and i just moved on to this one yeah this one's pretty
great it's actually uh like a thermos yeah i actually want to get like an insulated one it's
very beat up as you can see there used to be a handle here all right but is that one of those
that you can just hang on to like a bag yeah but i've dropped it a bunch at work and stood on it
and other stuff drop pallets on it
oh this this one's a glass one so it wouldn't yes i know i dropped it when i was running and
oh oh yeah not a good idea i should get yeah i i i should get some exercise i've i've just been
just at home or like pretty much the only time i go out like outside the house at all
is like the occasional fortnightly grocery shopping i wish i could only go out once a
fortnight for grocery shopping but i just don't have the freezer room so yeah oh sometimes it's
like once a week we have like a chest freezer i'm actually not in my room i mean like my room
i've been doing a lot of cleaning it's got like a whole bunch of boxes and chest freezer i'm actually not in my room i mean like my room i've been doing a
lot of cleaning it's got like a whole bunch of boxes and everything so i'm in my rumpus
we have like a massive chest freezer that we keep all our frozen stuff in like our meats and
i mean it's actually got a lot of room in there we didn't like panic by like like just like rooms of toilet paper i mean we just got like this
uh we just got like the subscribing subscribe or the subscription amazon oh yeah toilet paper
we just had a lot even before it went out of stock i was down to three rolls before it came back oh that that's
that's that's dangerous yeah then my housemate she managed to find some and now we're good i
ended up every single time i go to the shops now i just buy a 10 pack so i think we're up to like
40 rolls now which yeah yeah which should last a while 40 rolls sounds like a lot but normally i just buy 32
packs yeah we actually get the um 40 something pack because that's the one amazon sells the
amazon sells a way larger one than coals and it's actually funny thing it's actually cheaper on normal price on amazon than when it is half
price of course it's insane and you get it delivered there even through all of that crisis
there was actually still places selling toilet paper but it was like the big office suppliers so there's a place called i
think it's like office mega office warehouse or office mega warehouse or something i don't remember
the exact name and they were still selling crates of toilet paper but you know it's like the the
big rolls that go in public bathrooms uh yeah yeah and you can only buy them in four meter by four meter crates
how are you gonna use that well it's made for an office so you just have a room for it
i guess but yeah you could still get that and it's only like 90 for that crate wow that's crazy yeah no i think they actually sell that by like the by weight i think
like massive toilet papers i think they're sold by weight but yeah i think like like a couple
mates told me that a place that people don't expect to find toilet paper are just like servos
yeah petrol stations apparently they're always there and people just don't notice i don't know i haven't found any
down my way but i guess there would be some places that do have it like where i live in
st clair like coals and stuff it's never been completely wiped out i see the news all the time and i see people
talk about it and just like like the pasta and flour aisles are just empty but i've always been
able to find obviously there are limits but yeah i've always i've been always been able to find just everything. Well, not toilet
paper, but everything else.
And hand sanitizer.
That's weird, because for...
I guess Elizabeth is a bit different.
Like, people were just
going middle Elizabeth.
Oh, what just happened to my camera?
That was weird.
I don't know.
So, Elizabeth sold out pretty much straight away.
Oh.
Well, there are a lot of shopping centres here.
Like, maybe in, like, a five kilometre radius from where I live, there are probably, like, six coals and woolies.
Oh, wow.
like six coals and woolies oh wow so they're yeah even like a one kilometer radius there are two coals shops so jesus yeah well i think how from my place there probably is a bunch of shops but
i guess i don't know people just went mental. They just started buying up everything as soon as possible.
Not as bad as some places in the US
where people were buying multiple shopping carts worth of stuff,
but still enough for it to be a serious problem.
Yeah.
The US, I think, was...
I don't even know if they ended up enforcing the limits properly,
but even if they did, they were way too late.
Yeah, I think it was a state-by-state thing really
Hmm, maybe it was even a store-by-store thing. I'm not even sure
Probably yeah, the US is a big joke there. Have you paid attention to their numbers? I
Have it's very depressing
You they again the death rate is is is a lot higher than a lot of countries.
I mean, Australia's really done an excellent job.
I honestly thought it would be a mess, but I don't know what's happened.
We're doing really well right now.
Yeah.
Australia and New Zealand have just done an excellent job.
I think it's because in Australia, it's kind of a...
Like, everyone just drives.
So there's always just that natural distancing between people.
Yeah.
Whereas in a...
I don't know what it's like actually in the capitals.
It might be a bit worse there, but I know the total case rate in Australia is only like 6,600 or something.
But I presume most of them are probably in the capitals because that's just where the people are.
A lot of other places, it's very spread out.
Yeah, here in like SA, I think there are only like four, well, actually four cases all last week.
Yeah, something like that.
Four new cases.
So it's pretty good.
I don't know what testing like is here, though.
Testing is here like whatever.
I think we've done like 40,000, 50,000 tests.
I think we have really high test numbers by population
I know that the US is doing what the US does and there's you can get um like you're saying
before about Joe Rogan he's got he's testing all of his guests right now and the um the company
he's using is using how are they testing? Are they just like, do temperature checks just...
No, they've got a testing kit they can pay for.
It's like $200 per test,
but it's not an FDA-approved test.
It's fine.
Joe Rogan makes that from just reading his ad reads at the start.
I think he can afford that.
I think so too.
But yeah, I think he can afford that I think so too but yeah there's a lot of tests that aren't
FDA approved in the US and I think that's how
testing's getting around a bit more so I don't
know the accuracy of those tests
I don't know exactly
how we're handling it because
last time I checked the only way you could get tested
is if you came in contact
with someone who was overseas
or you were overseas yourself i don't believe you can actually just go and get a test
i think as of last week anyone can get tested oh okay if they have like symptoms
okay that makes sense yeah you know the crazy thing is Russia has like an insane
amount of like the test numbers that are insane they have like more than Germany which
doesn't quite make sense
because if you think about it like their GDP is like
like a like a fifth of what germany's is and this okay honestly the the stats about
this whole corona thing are a joke that china is definitely lying there are probably a lot
of other countries that are lying probably russia speaking of china china lying how did you this
is going to be old news by the time this goes up just because of my upload schedule right now but
recently did you hear what uh susan wajicki whatever ceo of youtube came out and said about
the who no i have not oh you didn't hear this okay Okay. So she has said that anything that goes against the WHO
and is pushing quote-unquote bad medical advice
is going to be taken down from YouTube.
So things like saying taking vitamin C, taking turmeric.
She said that it was in the context of saying it's a cure but i i've seen youtube's algorithms
mess it up so many times you're not going to just hit people so they're saying that you're going to
hear people saying that uh vitamin c is just a um a good way to boost your immunity which is
a medical fact there's there's no debating whether vitamin C is good for you.
Yeah.
But this is the same WHO that also initially was also saying,
was repeating what China was saying about how the virus can't be spread
from human to human.
Claimed that Taiwan didn't exist because they're being funded by china and china doesn't like taiwan
so yeah hey speaking of china do you want to make predictions because i'm guessing this is
going to come out in like a week two million minimum oh yeah I mean I think we're like 1 point... wait, wait, 2 million what?
Minimum... 2 million cases in China.
Oh, 2 million cases in China.
I don't know, where were you gonna go with that? I think it's a death rate.
I was actually gonna talk about King Jong-un.
Oh.
North Korea's...
Why did you bring up China?
I,
because I think they're like,
like doctors from China
going to North Korea.
Oh.
So like,
he's,
he's in a...
I,
yeah,
he's in a vegetative state.
I did hear about that.
I was gonna say,
I was gonna make a pun
and say he's in a bit of a pickle.
Oh no, I saw, I'll, okay okay I'm gonna see if I can find that because I can't do it on here uh I'll send you a picture afterwards someone made a picture where it was pickle Rick but it was
pickle Kim Jong-un oh my god oh the internet is amazing. But have you seen the pictures of his sister?
I have.
I have.
Reddit is very thirsty.
Specifically the picture of her with the toast in her mouth.
Have you seen that one?
I think I saw that this morning actually.
And it was like referencing like an anime something.
Yeah.
Was that his was that
his actual sister because i honestly don't know oh his sister is the most when sorry
i was gonna say his sister is actually far more trusted than any of his brothers
but because they have a country that's kind of um very male oriented there's no way she's leading
the country but it would be
hilarious if she ends up being the first female leader of north korea before the u.s yeah the
the first female president is going to be a republican guaranteed probably
but yeah do you think trump going to go for another four years?
Yes.
What kind of question is that?
I mean, I don't know.
He loves the attention.
He does, but...
Oh, no, as in, will he win?
Oh, yes.
Well, his only competitor is a dementia patient.
It's insane how there's no one good.
There's never anyone good by the time that he gets, by the time he gets to voting.
Well, there were.
So I don't particularly like Bernie, but Bernie could have beat Trump.
I think he was one of the better candidates.
But he's a socialist and the Democrats do not like that.
True.
Then you had yang i don't know whether
yang would have had a chance but yang was also a much better choice i think it was pretty good
and even like elon musk was like endorsing him and um tulsi gabbard she was also... She's had... She's had...
Military experience and...
She's from...
I think she's...
From Hawaii?
Pretty much she's the only one who actually seemed like an actual person.
Not a...
A angry Cheeto. No, uh, angry Cheeto.
No, not an angry Cheeto. Uh, but she's also really young.
So there's a bunch of times that she could run again. Same with Yang.
Yang could run next time easily.
Oh yeah. I mean, Trump is like, he's like,
I think he's like almost 70 or in his seventies.
Yeah. Biden won't be alive in four years.
Like he at least won't be able to speak in four years.
But, um, did you see the video that Trump put out about Biden?
No.
Oh, okay.
I'll see if I can find...
It's on his Twitter.
See, this is where we really need someone
who can like do this and then we can like
react to it and all that
yeah I have no because of my recording
mess right now I have no way to actually bring it up on the
actual stream on the thing
entertain people
well let's talk about all right let's talk about let's talk about apple
see the the new iphone the new iphone is 399 in the u.s that's um let's put before tax
in australia it's 750 base so it's um the australian dollar is pretty bad
but then again there's a lot of apple just i think does apple actually pay the proper tax
because i've heard a lot of stories that too much oh basically it was a clip of
um you had a bunch of people their faces photoshopped like obama and a bunch of other
uh democrats faces photoshopped onto these dudes sitting on a couch and they were watching a biden
um a biden press video and it was basically like Biden doing his normal thing like
we will do this for America
and I love kids jumping on my lap
it's just like what are you
saying Biden
that cliff is going to be used
like that's part of the reason
he's never going to be president
that cliff is going to be used for the rest of his life i think the trump um disinfectant
injection thing that's going to be used for a while i lost it at that how stupid do you have
to be to just even for your mind to even go, okay, the thing is it's funny because
Like a lot of the die like I do like Trump, but a lot of the diehard Trump supporters are just
Trying to come up with any reason why what he said makes any sense
Yeah, and there was a statement I think released by by um by lysol and a couple of disinfectant
companies being like yeah i think it's like that's all as well yeah don't do this it's a bad idea
because i'm guessing people were actually thinking of like putting just metho in their body
oh it's like the tide pod challenge all over again I mean there are people
who will just do anything Trump says
yeah that's the thing
just dying
the US has this
weird code of personality that just doesn't
exist here
I mean if like
ScoMo just says
something stupid we just don't care or if he I mean, if like ScoMo just says something stupid, we just don't care.
Or if he, we'll just, I mean, we've swapped so many,
we've just had so many prime ministers over the past five years.
We don't even, it's hard to keep track sometimes.
Yeah, back when that was happening with Labor,
actually not, sorry, with the Liberals,
I was talking to people and they didn't even know who the prime minister was at the point like is it still turnbulls like no
he's been gone for a while australian politics is a mess it's it's i wish it was as fun as the
u.s politics but the u.s politics is definitely fun yeah there's a reason why everyone in the world
tunes into it because it is just it's a reality show it's not politics yeah i mean it's it's
insane how much trump actually tweets about his like just ratings on like channels and stuff it's this is crazy i yeah that is so good i i think there's something like
my ratings my ratings for the covid briefings are better than cnn or something like that
oh man what are you saying uh at least the rest of the world has something to talk about yeah it definitely does it definitely
does make the uh times go by a bit easier for sure especially people who are going through
really hard times right now yeah and yeah there's this, the whole, well, the bad situation has made life a lot harder for
a lot of people.
I mean, I guess it's, it's not as bad here in Australia, but we're just, I mean, even
in the US, we're just printing out a lot of money.
Yeah.
That, the big thing that's going to be a problem is what happens after this.
I don't think the virus is going to be the worst part.
It's going to be the problem is what happens after this i don't think the virus is going to be the worst part it's going to be the knock-on effects definitely i was talking to
someone the other day and they were mentioning how virgin is going into liquidation which is
yeah very bad it's yep it's um for the people who don't know we basically only have two major
airlines here it's quantus and virgin australia hey mate don't hate, we basically only have two major airlines here. It's Qantas and Virgin Australia.
Hey, mate, don't hate on Jetstar.
Oh, I mean, Jetstar is part of Qantas, though.
Oh, is it? Okay.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
I wouldn't know. I don't pay too much attention to that.
You can even get points on the Qantas card.
Ah, yep, yep. Okay.
Not on the cheap ones, but not like the higher priced seats.
I'm a peasant who always flies Jetstar.
Oh, I usually fly Virgin.
Because the difference between Jetstar and Virgin Australia is...
Okay, sometimes it's pretty massive, but usually it's only like a look like the tiniest difference and you get like
checked on like check baggage and all that with virgin free plus um the uh if i can find it
just to oh sorry i'm only red now but i'm usually uh silver I was silver last year you can't really fly right now
it's not really gonna happen not for a while when do you think stuff's gonna
actually open back up because I know Australia's we're slowly bringing stuff
back open because we're actually doing pretty well but I'm I'm worried if we do
it too quickly did you see the app that the australian government
yeah i did want to talk about that
what is that i don't know it's been a problem this entire time um i did see that the uh
the covid safe app yeah that's that's what it's called a lot of people like the i think the
like it's got like one star on like the app store because apparently no one can get in
because some phone verification oh well that's good that the uh the citizen tracking tool can't be used i am it is voluntary so yeah for now for now and they do say they're going to
delete the data afterwards but no i mean i don't think there's too much identifiable info it's just
like bluetooth hashes it doesn't store location from what i can tell the issue is
that if that data is then combined with a location set that your phone uh your um mobile provider
already has or that google has or that facebook has there or that Facebook has,
there's no reason why that can't be a problem.
Oh, yeah.
That's true.
My connection cutting out for a moment just made that sound really stupid.
All I heard there was like...
But yeah,
basically if it's combined with a location set,
it's very easy to track people with it.
That's my issue with it.
Yeah.
I'm less worried about the Australian government having it than like Google,
but
not much,
but less.
I mean, not much but less i mean the australian government doesn't really have a excellent track record for
making large applications that can handle a lot of you know a lot of users and all that
stop ddos by using it i know right we've had that way too many times
fucking ddos the census site or there was a a DDoS on Centrelink as well,
also known as people using the website.
I think the max concurrent users was only like 50,000 or something.
Yep.
And they doubled it, which is still less than what they needed.
Oh.
Crazy.
Fuck. oh crazy i will probably trust apple more than any other like big company apple's that's just me personally no i do get behind that as well apple actually does a surprisingly good job with um
the connection yeah is it my connection is it totally because i have like nbn 100
i don't know what it is i am running on wi-fi right now so it's very possible it's mine
i am always on wi-fi anyway it doesn't matter i'm sorry i can't i don't know i might get like
an ethernet over power thing plug that in because my router's outside oh because i've got one of those like um i think
this place had cable before so it's one of the boxes outside on the wall that we have to plug
stuff into right wait so your your router is outside as well yes it the router is sitting
right next to the box it's in my carport but not it yeah right okay interesting yeah it's not a good idea i would bring it inside myself
but to share house whatever yeah uh what are we saying for uh apple and trust oh right yeah i
actually do trust apple with my uh fucking disconnection wow as soon as you said that
it's like the n NSA is watching us.
Apple.
They don't want us to talk about it.
Apple is... I trust them far more than most of the other tech companies,
that's for sure.
Yeah.
They seem to have a fairly good track record
of actually caring about security.
Now, I don't like the fact that all their stuff is so closed down,
but... And the fact that it's stuff is so closed down, but...
And the fact that it's so expensive.
Yeah, that's also a big problem.
But I do think they actually, at least for publicity reasons, care about their security.
Whether they actually care about it on a moral level is another question, but...
From a publicity perspective, I think they see the value in actually caring about security definitely i don't know if you looked into much about the new iphone
like well the se which is the cheaper version of the iphone it's basically it's cheaper
the most expensive one is cheaper than the cheapest OnePlus phone right now.
How much is the cheapest OnePlus?
The cheapest OnePlus is in the 700s.
We're talking US numbers, but the cheapest, the most expensive iPhone SE, I think, is in the 500s to 600s.
Oh, wow. So they're doing the cheap thing again, but not doing is in the 5 to 600s. Oh, wow.
So they're doing the cheap thing again,
but not doing it in plastic this time.
Yeah.
It's basically like the body of the iPhone 8,
which is from three, four years ago.
Yeah.
It's basically that, but with the newest processor.
That's about it.
Okay, well.
I think what they did is just,
because Apple were the ones who just hit the $1,000 phones
and the $2,000 phones here in Australia.
Fucking $2,000 phones.
But anyway, so they just drove up the price of all the phones and
everyone started following that i mean samsung has even pricier phones than iphones and now they just
bought even cheaper phones than androids so it's an interesting strategy yeah well i think these expensive phones to be honest i don't i honestly don't see the point
this one here this is a i'm bound to my chinese overlords this is a real me 5
it is a oppo sub brand yeah that was 350 australian dollars dollars. Don't ask how much my one was.
You have an iPhone of some description, don't you?
Yeah, it's the...
Oh, God.
I'm not proud to say it, but it was a little shy of two grand.
It was a little over two grand.
We're back okay oh fuck i need i really need i thought the wi-fi was going to be fine but i think it's going to be a problem oh it's okay it's fine most of the time but i think streaming
it's going to be a bit of a problem yeah but it's weird that it's doing it on my connection.
Maybe.
Yeah, that's.
It's coming up on my side as well.
On my side, on my end, you're the one who buffers.
And it just, like the video just goes to the side.
Yeah.
Just really quickly.
Yeah.
It also could be a Discord Canary problem.
Oh, are you on the beta thing?
I am on the beta because a lot of the time...
So when Discord updates on Linux,
it will say, hey, download the newest Ubuntu package.
It's like, mate, it's not in my fucking repos.
So it's like, okay, I'll just download...
I'll download Discord Canary
and it's been a problem from time to time like last episode
with connor yeah that's not up yet but um discord crashed
cory yeah right that one
i suppose i didn't call him connor the episode. The last episode with Corey,
I think Discord crashed four times.
Oh.
I don't know if it's the Wi-Fi or if it's Discord.
I'll have a look into it. Maybe I'll migrate to something else.
I don't know.
I've just been using Discord
just because that's what everyone has.
Yeah.
Discord has a lot of updates
like i can wait like two days on my computer and then as soon as i open up they're like
installing one of 10 updates yeah i'll try canary it's every single time you open the application
yeah i i tried to google like the chrome canary a while, and it was like, oh my god, so many updates.
And everything just kept breaking.
Yeah.
Getting on any of those beta builds is never a good idea.
You're always just going to be in for the absolute shit show.
Yeah.
The only beta build I would recommend is the, wait for it, JetBrains beta build.
They are stable, so stable.
I mean, obviously the release candidates are going to be super stable.
You'd hope so.
Yeah, but the normal betas are.
I've never had any problems with the JetBrains, any beta build.
Are you still fully in the JetBrains suite?
Fully and forever will be, unless they really mess up
or there's something that's substantially better.
Maybe Google just puts their neural nets onto code completion or something.
That would be interesting.
That would be interesting.
But until then, JetBrains for life.
For me, I'm very, very in Vim right now.
Vim is my go-to just because I only do scripting languages.
So it doesn't...
And I've got my code completion and that's all I need.
So if I'm doing Python, if I'm doingavascript i don't need a full id for that there's no there's no benefit for that
oh yeah oh i definitely agree if it's just simple stuff you definitely don't want to
open up intellij because it's it's it's definitely a big program and it's got a lot of bloat because it's actually written in java as well which is
exactly the most efficient i didn't realize it was written in java i'm pretty sure it's written
in java so but i do love because i will at work i use um it's mostly like a java react stuff so java we definitely use intellij it's one of the only
things i'm gonna happily pay for once i graduate and don't have my free student premium anymore
yeah and i think doesn't it get cheaper the longer you have a license for it does and you can actually even though it's a monthly or yearly
subscription you can get a perpetual um like if you if you hold on to it for a year you can get a
you can get that version that you had lost for the rest of oh life i guess that's cool
yeah so it's like the best of both worlds because a lot of people were
complaining when they switched to a subscription model yeah i'm not a big fan of the subscription
model myself i do like just can i just buy something please yeah like adobe it's just
it's so expensive because i know people who still run Microsoft Word 2007
because you could just buy it and then just never get a new version.
And it's on Windows, so it's just going to work forever.
Yeah, it's the age of subscriptions.
Just that cash flow.
If you're an investor, you want to see cash flow you want to see
reoccurring revenues and that's what just every venture capitalist wants you know unless you like
investing in startups and just hoping they get bought out by a bigger company
yeah that seems like a just a bigger gambler's currency speculation, to be honest.
That's true.
You can really have a lot of debt by...
I mean, advertising is pretty expensive.
And the only way to...
Because everyone's trying to make something,
and you need to advertise.
Every time you drink, I can feel the thirst.
Even when I'm watching your videos, I just feel, because I'm a Hydro homie myself too.
Hydro homie?
Yeah.
There's always the water.
I've never heard that one before. it's the it's like the super
popular reddit subreddit
I don't use reddit for anything besides
r slash command line and like
all of the linux subs
because I am a huge reddit
person
I've got like
sorry go on
I was gonna say
I use reddit more than
any other social media combined and i've got like i've got a lot of reddit accounts actually
i was gonna say tell me what you like about reddit
sell me on reddit why should i use this website? Because I fucking hate it. I want to say the democracy.
No, I'm kidding.
It's just got a lot of...
You don't have anything?
I honestly don't know.
I honestly don't know.
You never thought about it.
It's got a lot of everything.
And there are a lot of, I want to say, smart people who will just call out people.
Okay, say I post something like a fake story or whatever.
You can't just disable comments and your upvotes and whatever and just let people share it and whatever stuff.
There will be people in the comments just calling you out.
stuff there will be people in the comments just calling you out and you will just get and i like the idea of each subreddit handling the moderation and not reddit itself in some instances then
there's others where it's like we're going to quarantine the donald oh yeah that that it's definitely not foolproof but i do like the idea that not it like the reporting
um thing should not be like a cookie cutter okay thing it's it should just
fit the subreddit itself but yeah i mean i'm mostly on there for the memes, to be honest. That's fair. And Programmer Humor, that's definitely a great subreddit.
I love Programmer Humor.
I'll just let the stuff that comes out of that to, like,
I don't want to sift through the garbage that comes up on Programmer Humor.
I'll just wait for the good stuff to bubble out.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, that's the thing as well,
because there are downvotes that actually matter
i mean like on youtube a downvote does nothing well on the comments it matters yeah on on the
comments it doesn't mean anything um on content it does to an extent the for a while it's kind
of just true same ways as regular interactions but if you have something heavily downvoted...
Actually, heavily downvoted is a bit different as well, because heavily downvoted will push it in the algorithm as well.
What? In a good way?
Yeah, so if you have things like the YouTube Rewind...
Oh, yeah.
Where that became the most downvoted video of all time.
And because of that, it keeps getting pushed in the algorithm
because it's really controversial.
Oh, interesting.
Or maybe YouTube gets a free pass.
Maybe, but it happened with things like
Call of Duty Ghosts as well.
Might have been a different game, but that was also really downvoted.
Yep, like your last podcast,
YouTube is really a mystery.
Yeah, I don't fucking know how this site works.
Every time...
Yeah, I don't...
I guess, pretty much.
I have things that I think work,
but then I uploaded a video today,
as of the recording,
of me going over the hardware in my new
desktop oh yeah i i added to my watch later i haven't watched oh okay i i i watch most of the
videos except like the i'm kind of like connor i don't watch like the super hardcore linux videos
yeah because i it doesn't matter but i i love the like the uni videos and stuff
actually I've watched pretty much everything
other than the super hardcore
like the cron jobs one I like that
yeah because like I
use some cron
stuff in like
because we use a spring
frame we use the spring
framework at work yeah and
you can like
schedule stuff you can schedule
like java like a method like a metrics thing or whatever yeah you can schedule it in cron as like
an annotation and i had no idea how i just honestly couldn't be bothered figuring out how to do the
cons i just put in like the limits itself so. So that was the occasional gem that gets by, but most of the...
Oh, it's happening again.
Yeah, it's getting really bad right now.
I don't know what's happening here.
Okay, it's fine.
Just keep going.
We can already work with what we have.
Yeah, it's fine.
I totally forgot what I was saying the content the site
on super Linux II stuff is good yeah yep and yeah did you see the one I did not linux uh i don't think so it was kind of going more on the conspiracy side um it was so windows
10 now has a way to integrate the um the windows file explorer into wsl and basically it'll let you just look at all your your windows files
which microsoft has said looking at ext file systems is not possible on windows that was
bullshit they just didn't want to do it um but then i started going on talking about um
um embrace extend extinguish and yeah just going down the route
how Microsoft wants to completely
eliminate Linux
as a thing and kind of just make their own thing
it'll have to be open source
but they want to make it so different from
what we currently know as Linux
that it won't be compatible
and it actually did pretty well
because the Linux guys love the the Windows
conspiracy content oh there's no shortage of conspiracies and I mean a lot of conspiracies
that just that it's just almost too good to not be true I thought you're to say too bad to not pay attention to. That too, I guess.
Oh my god, my battery is about to die because I'm not in my room and I don't have my charger.
I've got 24%.
Oh, okay.
Do you want to pause for a moment or something?
Yeah, actually that would be great.
Okay, cool.
We can do that. Okay, cool cool we're back into the recording now
cool i just remembered when i was grabbing my charger there was this story with apple recently
where your like the like the mac laptops like the newer mac laptops would overheat
mac laptops would overheat if you charged it from like the left side because it's got like four usb type c ports and like the charger is like a usb cable so you can charge it on either side
there are four ports and you can charge it on any port right if you charge it on like the left side
i think maybe the right side it would like overheat I'm guessing that
has something to do with the way it's laid out inside yes something like that
so and it wouldn't tell you why it would just like kind of throttle and just yeah
it's yeah Apple's not exactly the best when it comes to laying out their design
for thermals no that's one thing i
i can definitely say they're not good at like um didn't they put like an i9 or something in a
macbook pro or i think of a something else i know that it's something with a an i9 and they just put
in a form factor that doesn't work for and then just...
Maybe it might have been one of the older i7s.
I think they did a couple of years ago,
maybe like two years ago,
and they put it into a MacBook Pro
and it could never reach its potential
because it would just throttle right before it so you had to like put
in a freezer or whatever to actually reach like its intended performance levels like the newer ones
are a lot thicker and i think they do better i do remember a video around that time where
linus tech tips was like water cooling a MacBook Pro
oh yeah yeah
because they would just throttle
and you can't do anything about it and that's the only way
you can do it I think
they managed to get closer to how it should
be performing
I think
Apple had the
MacBook which came out
like maybe 5 years ago it did not have a fan
at all i'm pretty sure i mean it did have like a it was like stupid thin and it was like it was
like an atom processor but maybe an i3 i don't know but yeah it didn't have like a fan at all
or the only thing it had was thermal throttling one thing i did need to
ask you about i didn't realize until just now uh you are mr apple man with all of your expensive
apple products but you still have cables uh is is it the headphones yeah the headphones
well i don't have i don't i i'm not a huge fan of the Apple headphones, although I am
wearing these.
I just wear them for like the microphone because I use the Sony XM3s, which are the noise
cancelling.
They, they, they changed my life.
Honestly, you can just work anywhere with no one distracting you.
But the thing is the microphone on it is kind of terrible
okay so i don't use it for like calls and stuff but oh no these are just the ones that come free
with the phones i just have a whole bunch of them yeah i think i ended up chucking most of those out
i think i gave one set to my mom or something
because she was like oh i need some earphones like okay you can have some now these are actually
like decent these i actually i think they retail for like 30 i don't even know what these ones i'm
using are does it say they are oh logitech cx3s but you're just using that for the audio yes yes i've got the microphone i've got
this guy here for the oh okay yeah mate the big boy well fancy i've got like a a shock mount i've
got a an arm oh the arm makes a lot of noise so i don't try to move it a lot uh good stuff can't
hear it yeah there you go yeah I can hear it squeaking.
Yeah, it's real bad.
This arm was about $15.
Oh, that's a good deal.
The shock mount was about $50, because this is actually like a branded shock mount, but the arm itself is just some knockoff brand.
And that's what I do with a lot of my gear.
Fair enough. knockoff brand and that's what i do with a lot of my gear for example this will ruin the lighting
for a second but this is a knockoff gorilla pod hey it gets the job done oh it absolutely does
yeah i and like let's be honest like most people wouldn't know the difference no yeah
my i think my selfie stick was like $10 as well.
Oh.
You don't need expensive recording gear.
The most expensive stuff here is this mic and my lights.
The lighting just changed dramatically.
The sun just went down.
It was like a thick cloud in the air.
Your lighting's been bad this entire time.
I don't think it really matters.
I'm sorry.
I'm in my rumpus which is like
kinda outside but it's like it's own room
so like the entire thing is a glass
oh
it's better than
Corey's was
that was real bad
which I think that was my connection
and his connection that were the problem there
you have a pretty internet connection Which I think that was my connection and his connection that were the problem there.
You have a pretty internet connection, though.
I do, and that's what's confusing me.
I have, like, 50 down, 20 or something up.
Yeah, I have, like, 90 down, 40, 50 up.
Oh, I would love to pay for that.
If I got the chance, like, my housemate would let let me i would cancel the current contract and go to 100 down yeah it's i mean it's not like i think we
only pay like 60 or 70 a month fucking insane but australia's internet prices are dumb yeah
yeah i think that's like a bargain compared to like Telstra which is like 170 a month which is insane
I know it's stupid I didn't even realize anyone was fluctuating their prices that much
yeah Telstra just loves to have those prices and I mean when whenever someone asks they always say they saved the best lines
for Telstra
which is with TPG
and it's been, we've never had
any issues
I'm surprised by how well the NBN
has been performing for me
I've heard from a bunch of people that it's been a problem
but in Daverand Park I got about
46 down
Salisbury Heights I got about 46 down salisbury heights i got about 46 down um para hills i'm
getting about 46 down so it's been pretty stable for me yeah i've never had any issues i've only
had like the nbn go down like once how long do you actually have an nbn connection um not that
long actually i think that's the thing because early on it might have
been a problem but i didn't get it till about two years ago ah uh do you have fiber to the node
yes we have fiber to this place it might be as i was saying before it might be an old cable house
so i'm not sure what's going on here yeah because right now we have fiber to the curb. Oh, that sounds nice.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
It's not quite the fiber to the premises.
Which we're going to be laying in 15, 20 years
because we're going to realize this fiber to the node stuff is dumb.
Yeah.
And there's places, I think in the US,
where cities or states, I think in the US, where cities or states...
I think it's just cities,
where they individually were like,
we're going to do fiber to the node.
And then they were like, shit, this was a bad idea.
And then have to start ripping it all back up.
Yeah.
Look, just do fiber to the premises
and you'll be good for...
I don't...
Like the foreseeable future
I'm going to make a prediction that's going to be wrong
Because it's always wrong when you make tech predictions
Tech predictions
But we'll never need anything better than fiber
I don't know what the theoretical limits
Of fiber are but
In South Korea you can get 10 gigabit
It is the speed of light
Yeah in South Korea you can get A 10 gigabit. Technically it is the speed of light. Yeah in South Korea you can get 10 gigabit to your house.
Yikes! Which is dumb.
Yeah
That's that's that's stupid fast.
We're gonna hit the point where there is no reason to keep increasing bandwidth usage because
It's already hard enough to distinguish 4k on a 27 inch monitor. Oh
Yeah, going to 8k because it's already hard enough to distinguish 4K on a 27-inch monitor. Oh, yeah.
Going to 8K, 16K, you're not going to be able to tell any difference.
Hmm.
And if we go back to the gaming topic for just a moment,
I think that's why a lot of games are starting to focus more on doing ray-traced lighting,
improving texture quality,
doing things to make textures look like they actually have,
I guess, depth to them.
Because you can't just keep increasing resolution.
At a point, it just becomes completely infeasible to keep doing,
and there's no reason to keep doing it, really.
Yeah, that's true.
Did you,
um,
I know you're not super into the gaming stuff,
but did you see,
uh,
Ray Traced Minecraft?
I think I've seen a couple on Reddit.
It is quite beautiful.
Yeah,
it is like,
especially like the,
um,
like the water when it's like the sun and the sun on the water, it's pretty good.
It's a bit too shiny, but besides that, it actually is really good.
Yeah.
Yeah, the gaming...
The thirst.
The gaming industry definitely really takes advantage of everything that's available
and just tries to push it to the limits.
Have you pushed your new PC to the limits?
I haven't done any benchmarks, but rendering my regular videos.
So I haven't been able to get handbrake to slow down but if we're doing it through caden live just my regular video editor i am rendering my
half hour videos in about 10 minutes but i don't have the 3900x i killed it um oh like i
got thermal paste on the on the pins because i put too much thermal paste on it tried to get it off
lifted the cpu out and yeah bad things happen oh no so i. So I'm gonna... Is this thing salvageable?
No, no it's not. I tried for a couple of hours. Okay, it probably is, but I don't have the
equipment to salvage it. Because it's almost microscopic levels of thermal paste on the pins,
which I can't salvage. I don't have the equipment for that. Yeah. But I've got a 3600X in here now, which is still much better than I had.
But I wish I had that 3900X, that would be nice.
Yeah, would have been good.
Look, having 12 threads is great, but I want 24 threads.
Does your video editor take advantage of all those threads
uh yes because it doesn't support gpu rendering because kdenlive is shit oh no
because because i've i because i used to edit with and i still do edit with premiere pro and
it always has an issue with just taking up resources
i don't know about scrubbing but i know for rendering it definitely does anyway sorry i'd
cut you off sorry and now it was just it just you can you could tell it to use every possible core
and all the memory you want and it still just uses like barely anything.
And it's not even like a Mac thing.
You can do it on Windows as well.
And it's the same issue sometimes.
Yeah, with Kdenlive, it uses this library called MLT.
And MLT is shit and Kdenlive is shit. And what happens is the Kdenlive team says,
we can't do GPU rendering properly because
MLT has problems. The MLT team says our GPU rendering works fine, it's the problem with Kdenlive
and they're not actually getting it fixed. But Handbrake and OBS, they do make use of my
my GPU. So right now on OBS I'm using about 4.5% of my CPU I don't know what my GPU's
usage is OBS doesn't tell me
but when I'm transcoding video
with Handbrake because I need to transcode it
for uploading to library
because they don't have transcode
servers which is an issue
yeah you have to
transcode locally just because it's a
it's a blockchain-y thing
and if you add a transcode service it would central's a it's a blockchainy thing and if you i mean added
service it would send me up a lot of like computing resources on their end yeah because you need a lot
of computing to render or like youtube would use like a stupid amount of resources to render
everything just like convert everything well it's also a problem with youtube
because they also have multiple versions of the same file oh yeah yeah um but with handbrake i'm
trying to i'm trying to slow down handbrake i'm doing um about 80 80 fps so work that out for a video so i record at 30 fps the half an hour videos end up getting
rendered about 12 ish minutes or transcoded in 12 ish minutes but i can probably stress it a bit
more and maybe bring it down to 60 if i try hard enough and i've just got it sorry do you just like
run them like batch render them at night or something?
I used to have to.
I don't have to anymore.
Oh, yeah.
I can just be like, oh, whatever.
I'm going to upload in half an hour.
I'll just transcode it now.
Yeah, that's pretty good.
I very easily could set up a script for that,
or I could do it through FFmpeg.
That's another way I could do it.
That would make it a bit easier to script.
Hmm.
But I've only got an RX 570 in here, that's not even a great graphics card.
Yeah.
Obviously, it's better than some people have, but...
Yeah, it's not, it's not, it's definitely not a bad one.
But I just basically have it for video output because 3600x doesn't have a um
integrated graphics which is why amd can cram so much in them intel should just drop the
integrated graphics no one uses them but then people are going to build pcs and they're going
to they're going to forget like a graphics card altogether.
If you're building a PC, you kind of have to know what you're doing, at least to a point.
Yeah, that's true.
Yeah.
Also on the AMD boxes, it does say discrete graphics required.
Ah.
Yeah.
What are you actually running right now?
I'm just on my MacBook.
What model is it?
This one's the 2014 one.
Nice.
This is the one without the crappy touch bar.
I actually have one with the touch bar.
I just don't use it.
Of course you do.
You're as bad as Jai with this sort of stuff.
Yeah.
Once you're in bad as Jai with this sort of stuff oh yeah once you're in the Apple ecosystem
there's no going back
you both waste money on
stuff that it's just like oh Jai
is like I'm gonna buy a GTR today
you're like oh I'm gonna buy a new MacBook Pro
oh
I actually have
another MacBook Pro as well but
that one's the work one that I get from work.
They give you a MacBook Pro for work?
That's an interesting choice.
Yeah.
That's weird.
I guess you're a really Apple-focused company then.
That's bizarre.
Not really.
We don't do anything that's Apple specific.
It's Java on Spring Boot.
But they give you MacBooks.
Yeah.
Hey, I'm not complaining.
And it works pretty well.
Everyone having the same laptop definitely.
That would definitely help, yeah.
Yeah.
I can see the benefit of Apple within a work ecosystem because then you have access
you all have access to icloud you can all do airdrops oh yeah airdrop helps a lot
yeah and airplay which is when we whenever we have like a spring demo whatever we just
airplay what is airplay uh we can oh it's it's like Chromecast, but it's slightly more stable.
We also have Chromecast, but it always just...
Chromecast has always been a problem for me.
I've never got it to work properly.
Yeah.
You have to do it through Chrome,
and it's just a bit of a pain.
Yeah, AirPlay is pretty good.
chrome and it's like just a bit of a pain yeah airplay is pretty good i think i was doing my chrome casting through a plex server so i don't know if it was plex at the time it was a problem
or if it was the chrome cast or if it was my internal network or what it was interesting
but yeah i i don't like the apple ecosystem but i can definitely see the benefit of
why you would run it yeah it's definitely not for everyone it's it's uh it's a very
specific it's uh it's only for a specific kind of people and once you go in
you just can't get out
especially when Apple just decides
arbitrarily they're going to do something like
oh we're just going to go Thunderbolt
now
but at least
isn't Thunderbolt an Intel thing?
yeah but
you don't have Windows systems
with Thunderbolt ports because they're usually on higher-end systems.
But at least Thunderbolt has gotten a bit more easy to access
now that it's been integrated into the USB-C connector.
So it's not like you need to get some new arbitrary connector
just to use Thunderbolt devices, unlike it used to be.
Yeah. It's definitely good to have just one,
even just like one charging cable for your laptop and your phone.
I can see that.
And your tablet and stuff.
It has been getting better for that.
I still have multiple because cheap devices, they have...
Micro SD?
Micro USB.
Micro, oh yeah, yeah, sorry. Micro SD charging. USB? Micro SD charging? And I've got whatever the hell this is on my laptop. Oh. Yeah I'm still not in the USB-C ecosystem, but that is something I would like to get into.
It would make stuff a bit easier.
Even Apple still has its proprietary lightning ports.
Hopefully, I mean, their iPads did move to USB-C.
Oh, did they?
Yeah, they did.
It's pretty good.
So you can just plug in like a usb drive
that's actually uh really surprising for apple i didn't think that would happen i know
yeah so you can you can even like plug in like a like a keyboard or a mouse oh nice
yeah it's pretty cool have you tried it i have actually have one. Does it work well or is it kind of just emulating touching the screen?
Oh, no, I haven't tried the keyboard, but I have the iPad.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
I've tried a trackpad with it.
And like the new update, you can actually get like a,
you can get like almost like a cursor on the,
because the new iPads actually have
like the stand
itself, like the keyboard stand
it has like a tiny trackpad
so you can use it with a trackpad
they're
trying to be
a laptop but with the portability
kind of like a Surface
of something you can
just take with you and then
when they perfect it they're gonna say they invented it probably probably like they always do
well i do like what apple does they never they're never the first one to jump on something
yeah but they're the ones who make it popular and even for the even when that's not a good thing like when they're like
oh we're just gonna get rid of the uh the headphone jack they are always the ones who are pushing
stuff forward whether it's a good idea and sometimes it is a good idea like thunderbolt
i think is great i would love thunderbolt to just be the standard usb it's great, but Thunderbolt is better.
Or I actually don't hate the touch bar.
It's not a bad idea.
It's just not implemented well in a lot of cases.
Or just not used at all.
Like IntelliJ actually takes pretty good advantage of the touch bar.
So like when you're debugging and stuff, like the touch bar just changes so you can like step in and okay like step through so it's it's it's good
but yeah need some work still yeah it definitely needs a lot of work and like the escape key
well it's the one i have the escape key kind of disappears
sometimes oh okay because like when when it's like a when it's like intellij and you have like a
customized app specific touch bar like the escape key kind of disappears sometimes there's like an
arrow to click it but sometimes it doesn't respond like the newer ones have a like a physical escape
key so that i guess that fixes the problem has apple started selling keyboards ones have a like a physical escape key so that I guess
that fixes the problem has Apple started selling keyboards that have a touch bar
on it if they haven't I don't know why they have no I don't think so maybe even
they don't believe in it hmm maybe because that seems like something they
would sell for like $300 or something Oh Brody I think the normal ones sell for like $300 or something. Oh, Brody, I think the normal ones sell for
like $250. I'm sorry,
what? Yeah, it's
pretty insane how expensive
they are. Okay, if you
want a keyboard that
just has laptop
style switches, get one of
these. This is a Cougar
Vantar. It is an
amazing keyboard and it is really cheap and it's got
lights it doesn't have it does have lights rgb wait can i do this has a different couple of
different modes i'll show you the stupid mode uh here we go here's the stupid mode
why would you want that i don't know oh there's a little bit of red on the side. Yeah there's just red on one part.
Uh let's see. So we'll go through all. This is like a mode where where you press stuff. It lights up.
Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Um then we have mode one was the one I'm on. This is really difficult to do. This is just red mode. It looks better when it's dark.
Oh no. Yeah. Sorry. This one's slowly fading. There is a red mode somewhere. I don't fucking know.
That one? Yeah. I don't know. Maybe I should not do that. That was actually really difficult to hold.
Yeah.
I'm not...
I didn't really like the idea of RGB.
And then I got an RGB keyboard and I kind of like it.
Oh, I've never been in the RGB...
I've never...
I've used them before.
I actually used to have one.
But I've never...
I've never... I've never liked it too much.
Honestly, I still use the Apple keyboard as my main keyboard.
Yeah, yeah.
The super expensive one.
So I hate the Apple mouse, though, the Magic Mouse.
Although it has a couple of gesture kind of stuff of stuff I hate it that's not a mouse yeah that's and you have to like put it
upside down this is and charge it this is all yeah what is that I don't know
what this is it is a maker yarn Fox fat 3 I got it from MSY, I have one of those Logitech MX.
Ooh, nice.
Yeah.
They weren't too expensive.
I think they were like 70.
I am very much into the wireless mouse crows.
I can't use a wired mouse at this point.
Same.
I don't care.
I don't care, I don't game, I don't need precision input or perfect input lag,
but I don't need it. This is fine. If I have like a millisecond delay, I can accept it.
Yeah, same. It's just, yeah, I can't, you know, when i used to be younger i used to have like the mouses that the mice that
had like a ball in them yeah interesting oh yeah i just take it out and do like play with it all
the time oh no you mean um like a physical ball oh no i thought you meant the ones that are
but like you just hold still and they have a trackball on them no you meant the actual oh no no no like the like the underside of it yeah like a ball you could take out before
we were using lasers and optics and all that fancy shit yeah hey lasers cure the bad thing
according to trump so we already said covet earlier so oh we did it's fine i get basically no views on
youtube anyway all my views come from my uh my library uploads does library care about um is
there a demonetization thing is there anything that will get you demonetized um child porn
oh oh yeah i think that's just illegal. Breaking
the law. Pretty much as long as you don't break the law or try to try to scam
people. Because we have like Alex Jones on the platform. Of course, of course he
is. There's also one called like Oi News which is, you can probably guess what oi news is i have no idea it's a june news uh thing
oh yeah interesting it's like one of the top channels oh wow and there's like red pill
philosophy and things like that what what's the uh what's the how are the charts looking between you and Alex Jones?
Oh, I'm way above Alex.
Whoa, nice.
Yeah, the problem with library is you have to...
I don't like the way trending works.
Trending is very much based on you putting your LBC back into your content.
So pretty much you can boost up your content by put by um staking lbc on it
you can then claim it back and stake on other content but basically you have to stake content
to make your content trend more so the people who have more lbc they can trend themselves higher
which i don't like because that means the people who have more money can get into trending easier
which is good for me
like I
I've shown it in videos, I have like 150k
LBC
I can get myself onto trending
whenever I feel like it
and I can put people on trending if I want to
but if you're like some dude
from Venezuela, you just can't get onto trending
do you lose But if you're like some dude from Venezuela, you just can't get on churning.
Do you lose LBC when you do the churning?
Transaction fees.
Right.
Which is like 0.001 or something.
Percent?
No, 0.001.
0.001 LBC?
Yes.
Oh, right.
Oh, that's nothing.
Yeah, no.
It's pretty much just network functioning fees, basically.
Yeah.
I mean, obviously, we do need some sort of transaction fee. Otherwise, the whole system just wouldn't work.
Yeah, I'm not too sure how it works
on the back end but yeah there needs to be something but i'm not the uh i do know some
people who are kind of crypto experts but i'm kind of the i only care about the speculation
side not really the tech side at least for me i'm all about the luck yeah so you're on the speculation side as well yeah yeah but um
there are actually like legit channels that aren't just like crazy conspiracy theorists on library as
well um we have three blue one brown i've recently passed which is sad i shouldn't be passing three
blue one brown i have no idea who that is you Wait, you don't? I have no idea.
Never heard of them. Okay.
I guarantee you've seen some of their videos.
Possibly.
I'm just bad with names.
It's a...
It's a
statistics channel.
Oh.
Are they on YouTube?
Yes, they are on YouTube.
Wait, what are they called again?
I'll just send you a link to it.
It's 3Blue1Brown.
I guarantee you've at least roughly heard of them.
3Blue1Brown.
Isn't it like Veritasium?
Veritasium is also on the platform.
Yeah, aren't they like one of the top.
I think the only library info I get is from you,
from watching your videos.
Okay.
So Tim Paul is on the platform.
I don't know if you know who Tim Paul is.
No idea.
He's a really big political commentator.
Ah, okay.
He has an EEV blog, which is a...
He has like 700,000 subscribers.
He's an electrical engineer from Sydney.
700,000 on YouTube, not on Library.
Right.
Yeah, electrical engineer from Sydney.
There's a lot of big crypto guys like Dollar Vigilante,
Naomi Brockwell, a bunch of people like that no idea who they are yeah unless you're in the crypto sphere no one knows who they are
yeah see if I can find the list I would like I've been trying to bring over some of the
some big guys that I at least know of every time they complain about youtube
i'm like hey have you tried out library yeah um but yeah veritasium i think is in third place
right now oh uh we have some oh can't zoom can i zoom in how how does how do phones work? So we have Brian Lunduk, who's a big Linux guy.
The Linux gamer, obviously a Linux guy.
Luke Smith, other Linux guy.
DistroTube.
Khan Academy.
Khan Academy is here.
I think they aren't syncing their content anymore,
but they do have a channel on here.
David Pakman. Stix Hexenhammer. syncing their content anymore, but they do have a channel on here. David
Pacman,
Stix Hexenhammer,
Barnacles,
Jordan
Peterson,
Yeah, I don't know
like 90% of these people.
We obviously have Alex Jones.
Oh, of course.
He's been kicked out of library.
Oh, sorry, not YouTube.
Yes, very much.
No one else on here that you're going to recognize.
I think he got fined um like a i think you are
like fined by like the fda for like advertising something that cures the virus oh god i'm not
surprised there there um there have been a bunch of people doing stuff like that where it's just
like obvious fake stuff but you know what i'm interested in i want to know what the preppers are doing right now
i'm sure the preppers are loving this yeah i everyone's like oh yeah i told you so
i know what a great what is my water bottle i like lost it when oh here it is i know what a great opportunity for a tv show will be we do a um a post-covid prepping thing so we go we do a tv show talking to the preppers
after they survived through covid because there were guys who thought there would be like a world
pandemic that would kill everyone um that'll be an interesting i know that show's gonna happen i would watch it
yeah i love my prepper shows yeah there's just something fun about watching completely insane
people just going about their lives yeah uh i haven't Tiger King, but I really need to do that.
I don't even know what that is.
How far...
Okay, you're on Reddit and you don't know what Tiger King is.
Oh, Tiger King.
Yeah.
Yes.
I thought you said something like High Geking.
No.
No, no.
I need to watch Tiger King.
Oh.
Speaking of crazy people.
Have you seen it yet? No, I. I need to watch Tiger King. Speaking of crazy people, have you seen it yet?
No, I have not.
Okay.
Should I?
I don't know. I've heard really good things about it. I thought this was going to be a topic I could yell on, but no.
I haven't seen it yet. If you haven't seen it yet, then we can't really talk about it.
All I've heard is that it's just crazy.
Yeah, I've heard the dude had like two husbands or something.
And I don't even know.
Tigers.
Yeah, tigers.
That didn't go anywhere.
That did not go anywhere.
I've been waiting this entire time for an oven to show up, by the way.
Wait, what? An oven. anywhere i've been waiting this entire time for an oven to show up by the way for what an oven so you know how when you're like you call up a plumber or something or
an electrician and be like oh yeah we'll be there from like 9 a.m until 6 p.m or something like that
that's what i'm in the process of waiting for right now uh is it just like a delivery uh no
he's going to install a new oven because my oven doesn't work.
Ah, okay, yup.
But it works, but the thermometer, it doesn't tell us the real temperature.
So you can set it to 200, it'll probably be like 170.
You set it to 220, it'll be like 260.
Oh, yeah, that's a...
Yeah, no, it doesn't work.
Yeah, the oven is...'t work. The oven is...
We're using the oven a lot here at my house.
Yeah, I use it quite a bit.
I think I'm really the only one who does
because both my housemates just order food a lot.
That's just unsustainable.
It is.
Unless you're like a millionaire.
Yeah, that's what I think ordering food like uber
eats and stuff it's just the prices are just insanely jacked up have you been seeing what's
been happening with uber no um what in particular oh really yeah because no one's catching ubers
right now yeah i like if you go on the uber app it just say like
it almost takes up like a full wait let me see if i can find it it almost takes up like the full
screen and just says we're open on uber eats oh yeah see look at that it just takes up like the
that's the main screen on uber it just gets says eat local we're in this together support local businesses order uber eats that's because
they're going out of business um there was a story a little while ago about uh uber drivers and how
basically they're so uber is just like whatever we don't we don't really care but what they're
doing is uh trying to get people into other delivery things so they've got like partnership
with dominoes and stuff so they can go do uh
like delivery food for those or obviously the first thing they're going to push people towards
is uber eats and yeah i don't know how well uber eats is doing right now i presume they're
it's the only reason that uber hasn't gone out of business right now it's very likely but um yeah because i i haven't ordered any food myself through uber
eats but i i'm pretty sure the delivery costs are really high aren't they well the delivery cost
that's that's that's the thing the delivery cost is only like 3.99 to 5.99 but the thing is they there's like a hidden surcharge let's just there's like
a 30 ish hidden surcharge on everything okay so let's just say you buy like you go into the store
physically and you get something for 10 it's probably like 13 or 13 if you buy it on uber eats okay so that's like the price of delivery
as shown is it's only like three or four dollars or maybe six dollars at most i've never seen
anything more than like six dollars right and they only do like a like 10 15 kilometer radius
anyway from where you live but yeah it's the it's like the the main price is
like hidden inside the price of food that's a lot sneakier yeah and you tend to overlook it
because you just see oh delivery fee 5.99 oh yeah are any of the others like deliver or any of the other ones i think all of them do the
same okay so it's probably some sort of um i guess maintenance fee for their company and stuff
yeah and i mean it's just the restaurants just passing on what they have to pay uber yeah yeah oh that would explain it yeah okay
yeah i think the prices are still set by the restaurants but uber takes a percentage
of anything so the restaurants just bump up the price. Uber actually has
parcel delivery now.
So you can just
call up an Uber
like you normally would and just
select, I think it's called
parcel or collect or something.
The car arrives, you put
the whatever into
their boot
and then they will take it to your destination.
It's a thing.
Apparently, I think, like, you can't send, like, medical supplies
and stuff like that.
Sure, yeah.
So, I don't know what you need.
Maybe, like, toilet paper.
Hmm.
I honestly don't know what that could be useful hear about that that's
interesting yeah that's pretty new actually have you been getting like many packages to your house
because it's it's an experience when a package shows up right now uh no not many okay because
a couple of like amazon ones but other than that no
because i've ordered a lot of stuff that requires a signature lately
and they don't do signatures right now so oh yeah what um is it just through the uh
you can just if you know you're gonna be there and it's like a you you know your package is not gonna be stolen you
can like log in and just say that you want your signed parcels to be left in a specified place
oh no that's what i always do yeah i haven't been doing that i've been home the entire time but
what they're doing is kind of weird i think they are gonna take the package back if i don't sign
for it because i haven't set that up but yeah they will put the package down at your doorstep walk like three meters away and just
wait for someone to come to the door oh my that's that's insane so they're like oh are you bro just
like yes I am and then do they just leave wait wait so you don't sign at all oh wow that's interesting they left like a
a thousand dollar processor on my doorstep and we're like it just walked away a bit it's like
oh are you brodies like yep oh it's a little like masks no or something i they should be but
those little places that still aren't,
like we don't get masks at work.
Yeah.
Just a...
I've come to accept the fact that it's
kind of shit.
Yeah.
It's...
It's because like most
people are like asymptomatic carriers but these the according
to tests of what only like three or four people have like community transmission here in sa
that's pretty good i feel like i probably did catch it at some point because there's no way
i haven't caught if i work in a supermarket that's true i feel like i probably did catch it at some point, because there's no way I haven't caught it if I work in a supermarket.
That's true.
I feel like I was one of those asymptomatic people and just didn't... I think most people are.
I've heard 50 to 60% or something like that.
Which is ridiculous.
So, the death rate is way lower than we thought it was.
Yeah.
And, like, you're pretty young as well even if you did
catch it you you're probably one of the most likely to be an asymptomatic that's the thing
there's been people who've been catching it who are like actual athletes and they've died from it
wow so i don't know what like this is a weird virus that's the thing yeah it
very we're gonna look back on this and it we're not really gonna know what's what's really
happening for at least another year or so and that depends if the the u.s slows uh slows their
numbers down because they're they're going for that million right now yeah i think they have like like as far as total deaths go i think they have like half the death
of the entire world like every day well that we know of because people disappear that's true
that's true have you been seeing the videos of people getting dragged away at night yeah i i've seen
a couple i don't know how legit it is but i could it's crazy i could see china doing that that's
that's the thing yeah and like only like a country like china can do that yeah and they will just
like let's just like lock people in their houses and just bolt them bolt down the
like the doors well i was super skeptical early on when there were those videos coming out of
people being welded into their houses but at this point there's so much stuff that's come out about
china that i'm i am fully on the train of China is absolutely insane. Yeah.
And it, and they have like barely any deaths these days.
And it just like,
yeah,
that's,
I can't believe 80,000 cases is bullshit.
There's no way.
If the U S has a million,
then yeah.
And China is so densely packed. It is. Yeah. if the US has a million then yeah and China
is so densely packed
it just yeah
makes no sense
unless
they killed everyone in Wuhan then
but have you been hearing
how it's very possible that
COVID started way
earlier than we thought it did, like November.
Oh, yeah.
I've heard a couple of theories and, like, yeah.
I mean, honestly, I think it's completely likely
because, like, the cases, like, the first cases just started up
all over the world at, like, roughly the same time.
Yeah.
Which meant it had to have spread
way earlier on uh we don't well it's we don't know how long china's known about it that's the
thing they could have known about it since november or even before that i i don't know
yeah and china's like known for like censoring on every platform they have.
Yeah, there could have been journalists at the time who disappeared.
And what you were talking about on the podcast with Connor,
with like, what was it?
It's like mobile phones disappearing.
Oh, yeah.
Like the lower number of phones
or whatever i think it's two million less mobile phone usages in or two million less
mobile phone users in china which isn't a thing in china yeah because you do everything with your
phone exactly it's yeah but i don't know if that number's legit i'm not sure on the source of that number
that could have come from like some crazy conspiracy site but i'm just going then again
it it would seem likely yeah that's the thing china it does definitely seem likely that's for
sure yeah this fucking connection it just again yeah it's been happening a lot
do you have any suggestions for what I should try next time
because I'm happy to try stuff out
I'm happy to try anything out at this point
honestly I have no idea
I'm
well obviously we could do zoom
zoom is an option
google hangouts I've had better experience with google hangouts I'm I'm well obviously we could do zoom zoom as an option Yeah
Google hangouts. I've had better experience of the Google hangouts plus Google actually has servers that work
That's true. Oh, yeah, I think you did the fair wasn't it? I did the first one on Google hangouts. Yeah. Yeah, okay
Fucking discord is like oh we're gonna shut down our servers today
fucking discord it's like oh we're gonna shut down our servers today uh 10 minutes i don't know that's the thing the because like i can hear you fine it's just the video that just
i don't know i think google hangouts is pretty good though
another option is to use telegram oh do they have video very soon i'm not they don't have it just
yet but very soon they will have video yeah which is microsoft teams is pretty good is that free
i'm pretty sure it is i've had a couple of meetings on there and they seem to be solid okay
i trust that microsoft and Google actually have servers that work.
Yeah.
I mean, Microsoft's been doing it for a while with Skype,
so I think they nailed the rules.
Well, Skype's not great.
Yeah, Skype's definitely not great,
but they've at least had experience.
I mean, anyone who's Amazon, Google, or Microsoft
who actually have servers are are probably gonna do good.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm pretty sure Discord just uses AWS.
Probably.
Yeah.
Or maybe it's just...
Oh, probably.
I'm sure, like...
Oh.
Someone there?
Give me one sec, I'll check.
Oven guy.
Could be...
It could be just the dog next door barking at my dog. Give me a sec, I'll check. Oven guy. Could be... It could be just the dog next door barking at my dog.
Give me a sec.
Oh, okay.
If you didn't say anything, I'll just edit that out, but...
I said something like, will Brody cut out this bit?
We'll see how I feel like I might.
If that's all you said, I might just cut directly this bit. You will see how I feel like I might. If that's all you said I might just cut directly after that. But yeah. Oh it just happened again the video.
I have been having some problems with my connection on here so I feel like it
could be my Wi-Fi adapter. But it's almost like a predictable thing,
so it may not be your connection.
I don't know.
It can't be my...
Well, it doesn't happen when I'm doing regular recordings,
so it's definitely not my USB port.
Hmm.
It might be just Discord. Yeah, it might be. discord yeah it might be discord's mainly built this is actually my
first time doing a discord video okay ever what have you guys been using for work microsoft teams
uh we use uh slack actually okay yeah it's it's the paid thing, because Slack doesn't do group video unless it's paid.
But yeah, Slack is excellent.
Never had any issues.
But yeah, we use Zoom as well, but we've moved away from Zoom.
Because they're a security hole?
Yep.
Fucking Zoom.
They took over the world and then collapsed instantly.
Yep. They're still being used by a lot of people but they have have you seen how bad not just the uh the encryption is but how just bad the security is
in terms of like joining yeah you can just there are people that just
have found a way to just join group chats yeah i don't know how they're doing it i
i think that you can like just i think it's like a just guessing a random six digit number
yeah and like i think like i think i heard something that's like
you you can just randomly join and like kick the host which is just i don't know if that's true but i have seen that happen so crazy
oh oh it just happened again it's fucking always happening this has never happened besides today
it wasn't yeah i've never had this happen then again i've never used discord but i don't know
if it's a discord thing i had it i feel like it's either Discord or my Wi-Fi card.
Those are my two options.
The cheap option will obviously be to try another video service,
but I might also just get rid of the Wi-Fi card,
sell it for whatever and sell it for,
and replace it with like Ethernet over power or something.
Yeah. That'll work.
Yeah.
Wi-Fi is just kind of sketchy on Linux to begin with.
Are you using the 5Bhz?
No, I'm not. I'm using 2.4.
Does your router have a 5?
It does. I could try that.
Yeah, you probably should.
I mean, since your router is outside
I don't know how good the
signal is
I've never tested that network
I'm not sure
yeah
I'm always on the 5G
speaking of 5G
before the
conspiracy people come at me
have you seen how just
ridiculous 5G has been getting
it's insane
I love Connor's theory
on like the
rides the 5G wave
that's so good
it's fucked
absolutely fucked
it's crazy 5G is going to get rolled out it's gonna be fine
no one's gonna die from it exactly more people are just dying from normal things that could be
prevented plus it's it's like it's on this side of the spectrum of light.
Okay, Trump said that he could treat the virus with light.
If he does, it's going to be ultraviolet light, which is actually ionizing,
which will actually cause cell mutation.
Unlike this side of the spectrum, like Wi-fi and radio waves which can i don't know how legit this is but i saw something joe rogan retweeted he likes to retweet conspiracy stuff from time
to time as well but um i'll this one i do want to find basically there was a a company that's
working on a COVID cure.
I can't say COVID.
Actually, whatever.
This video doesn't get monetized anyway.
I said the word COVID cure.
And their Twitter account ended up getting taken down.
Oh.
But basically what they were going to do was do what Trump was saying and treat it with ultraviolet light.
basically what they were going to do was do what Trump was saying and treat it with ultraviolet
light
um
now I don't know if this is legit because
the account is being followed by
Mark Dice who is
who is Mark Dice basically
that's all in this episode
I have no idea who Mark Dice is
um
yeah we'll save that for another time
here you go
so yeah you've got this account
called A2 Bioscience
basically and
pretty much they were working
on some sort of cure
where
they were gonna be like
injecting a thing into your body
and like blasting it with ultraviolet
light i don't know i don't i'm not a scientist apparently they were like a legit bioscience place
and yeah then their twitter account got taken down but it's come back now because there was
a lot of outrage about it so i don't know what was going on there. Interesting. I don't know how the ultraviolet might work.
Because if the virus...
It's like all over your body.
It would probably travel by blood as well.
Honestly, again, I'm not a doctor.
I wouldn't know.
Yeah, we're definitely not doctors.
Yeah. Yeah.
But we do have a sane brain and don't say drink bleach.
Yeah, please don't drink bleach or like metho.
Definitely don't drink metho.
That'll kill you instantly.
But hey, make sure you have some hand sanitizer with you oh yeah oh I hit a glass cup there I just
have a bunch like if if I was to move this camera you would see how messy my
desk is I have shit everywhere like I mentioned you move this camera you would see how messy my desk is i have shit everywhere like i managed to
move the camera slightly on connor's vlog sorry connor's vlog connor's podcast like the last one
towards this side and then i saw how messy it was yeah okay you know what screw it we're already
here so okay oh okay what do we start no i don't want to turn my monitor off this is your first So, okay. Okay.
No, I don't want to turn my monitor off.
This is your first look at Brody's other side of the room.
So, we have a light there.
We have an HDMI cable there.
And that's just so I can plug it into my laptop when I go sit on my desk.
We've got a phone here.
We've got some USB devices there.
You've got... Okay, so we've got some Hyland, we've got... That's a lot of wires.
Yeah, yeah it is, but it gets really bad back there.
When you get like Linus onto your
and then he will just come over
and just upgrade your stuff
and just do some cable management
you should see what it's like
where my power cables are
that's the worst part
is it a safety hazard?
only if one of them frays
oh
but yeah it, it's
not great. We'll be fine.
Also, I almost...
The back of my monitor has one of those little
knob
thingies
as its control. It doesn't have buttons.
So the cable got wrapped around it for a moment
and it always turned my monitor off.
That would have been good, for sure.
Fun.
Oh, Lord.
We are almost...
Did you...
Yes?
Have you seen...
Did you watch Mr. Robot?
No, I didn't fucking watch Mr. Robot.
Come on, Brody.
You haven't even seen the Corey episode yet and he asked me the same thing!
Oh!
Brody, you have to see it!
I will watch Mr. Robot at some point.
Okay, excellent.
But I'm not sure when.
Just watch the pilot, that's all. Just the first episode.
Okay, I actually did watch the first episode years ago, back when it came out.
Oh, right.
I've seen the first two episodes.
It's not like I haven't seen any Mr. Robot.
Okay.
I'm surprised you haven't seen all of them if you've seen the first episode.
When did it come out? What year?
Long time ago.
Many years ago.
Yeah.
Like four or five years ago?
Yeah. But it ended last year i probably watched the first two episodes and then was watching like game of thrones or something
oh game of thrones okay at the time game of thrones was really good oh yeah yeah this would
have been like season two season three times and it was good until like the last season yeah but
Mr. Robot just keeps getting better I also think yeah Walking Dead was also
good at the time that's how long ago this was
Wow don't yeah I remember watching it back in high school hmm I think first three seasons were watchable.
Of Walking Dead?
Yeah.
Yeah.
When did I give up Game of Thrones, actually?
I think I know when I gave up.
This is such a bad time to stop watching it.
I gave up on The Red Wedding.
I haven't seen the later Game of Thrones so I don't know what that is
when did you stop watching?
season 1 and 2
this would have been season 3
Red Wedding
it's fine to spoil at this point
basically everyone gets murdered
because you know Red Wedding
ah
interesting yeah how long have we been going for two hours we're gonna
beat oh yeah we're not gonna beat marty's one yeah no we can if you want to no i haven't eaten
anything all day oh okay when do you want to keep going to we can go to whenever you want to uh i don't know when
whenever we feel like we're just having we're just out of topics i haven't even touched my
topics yet oh let's let's let's go do you have a list of i do oh i think i mean i had like okay
we've touched a couple that have come up naturally, but... Yeah.
Like the crypto stuff and... Yeah, I actually had the crypto stuff on my list.
And COVID safe and stuff.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Also Apple.
Zoom.
Actually, no, we've touched a bit more than I thought we did.
Yeah, actually, that...
Yeah, we did pretty well, actually.
Excellent. One thing I did what's your what's your um?
What what are your thoughts on the non graded passes for this semester?
What do you mean?
the
Like uni SA we can wait. Do you say uni SA? I don't even know. Oh, yeah, no
I've mentioned that I have a LinkedIn they can find where I'm at
I think I've got a guy on my discord actually at
uniSA he's asking about my
project and asking if I'm doing VR
next semester
I'm like I'm sorry do you know
oh yeah you are aren't you
do you know who I am?
like obviously you know
who I am but like do you actually go to my uni
like what's going on here
I've had a couple people like that that have said things that are a bit Like, obviously you know who I am, but like, do you actually go to my uni? Like, what's going on here?
I've had a couple people like that that have said things that are a bit too, like, they know,
or a bit too much like they actually go to the uni to just basically be random comments.
Yeah.
We got lurkers.
I'm a total lurker as well.
I just like the videos and never comment.
Well, you actually know me.
That's the thing.
That's a bit different.
You knew me before I was doing this,
but there's people who have found my channel who go to UniSA.
Bit of a celebrity.
Yeah, and I can't really show up at the club or anything.
Anyway, so the non-graded passes so our university so this semester since
we're going like online and like things are a bit messed up and stuff anyone who gets a pass which
is a p2 p1 cd or hd can has well they have the option to choose a non-graded pass instead so which basically means
you passed but it doesn't like it's it's basically like that grade skips your gpa sure
so if you got like i don't know like a p2 or whatever and this is gonna like just bomb your gpa you can just
choose a non-graded pass and and you will keep your gpa beta web mining
no you see see it's it's almost got me thinking that i can get by lazier. Okay, I'm doing fine in research methods.
Yeah, I saw that lecture this morning.
The newer one.
The week 7 one.
Yeah.
She didn't really say too much that I couldn't really read.
Have you gotten started on your methodology?
No, not quite.
I've got my research questions,
but I haven't explained how you're going to answer the questions, I guess.
Yeah.
But what about your other ones?
How's that going?
Well, data web mining, I've started the assignment.
It's...
Most of it, you're just teaching yourself. most of it is teaching yourself because there's
nothing you can find on the lecture slides and you got I mean I'm I just I'm
just not gonna watch the lecture because like you always say and it's so true he
just and he just reuses the lectures from last year as well.
Hey, this is how you record audio.
Do you understand what I'm saying right now?
I don't think you can.
I can, but it's way worse than this. I still can, but it's basically this.
Yeah, your mic is pretty good.
It's basically that, but like 10 times worse,
where you can barely hear anything. Yeah yeah and it's just all sudden oh it's he has realized as of week five of last year
that he should stand near the microphone that's good but i made this argument in an earlier
episode that there is no excuses for the lecturers not to be re-recording stuff.
And I had someone comment, be like, oh, but they're probably busy doing research.
Like, no, they would be in class right now.
Yeah.
I'm glad, like, the research methods lecturer, she re-records them.
And the lectures are pretty short as well they
she doesn't like try to just do filler yeah i don't know who the hell that uh that producer
is she has i'm guessing it's her husband or something
it's like produced by whatever his name is jay or something like, yeah, post-production. Yeah. It's probably her husband or a friend's house who does video editing.
Probably.
But she's actually doing it pretty well.
I wonder how Adam's doing it.
Adam has always been doing stuff from home anyway when he gets the opportunity.
So nothing's probably changed for him.
I'm glad we don't have to go to like those
guest lectures anymore
for ICT
I mean guest lectures
are usually probably going to be
almost useless and
if you're marked on attendance
and plus
the worst thing is I had research methods
from like 9 to 11
and then nothing from 11 to 6pm
that day
speaking of ICT project what's going
on with those
um
what were they called
um
status report presentation
oh yeah
the second one didn't have a presentation at all
oh yeah and yeah that's a good point
at least i didn't see a list of people so yeah i didn't either i'm guessing he just didn't do it
probably i mean we're definitely not gonna have because i think the uni um like just killed off
all face-to-face yeah stuff so I mean we could still
have like a zoom meeting but oh it's I never thought of that actually yeah that's how I
thought they were gonna do it and then they just decided to not do the status report
hmm I don't know like the next the next status report is due next week is it next week okay
yeah it's due next Fridayiday i think or thursday
i mean the status reports are pretty pretty quick yeah yeah that you're doing like like an hour or
two i usually do them on a discord call and just knock them out in like 15 minutes uh how's your
ict project actually going well it's a bit of a mess yep that's everyone who's i've talked to about it
and this the current health situation has made it so much worse so it's it's meant to be so my
research like the topic itself it's met so one of the like the collaborators is all is meant to be mit
at the university mit and it's even in the title like the project title and mit just we had one
meeting with them which was our first meeting and they just disappeared they just go to do the rest
of it apparently we're meant to be collaborating
with them and they're meant to be doing like i mean i'm hoping half the work but they've just
disappeared and our supervisor decided to go on leave and then our industry person decided to go
on well the industry person who is supposed to be giving our data has decided to go and leave
and we only got our data like a week ago and we like like the we like um filled out the forms for
like approval back in week two and we got it back in like week six or seven. Jesus. So, yeah, because everyone who was supposed to be signing off on the approval,
like the data something approval was busy,
like somewhere in like an emergency health thing.
So it's just, it's just been a mess.
Oh, fucking hell.
Yeah.
Have you guys actually been doing a proper ICT project?
Or has it been like mine where it's just been like,
here's some things you have to do.
Here's the thing.
Our ICT project is super boring
because the main deliverable is a research paper.
Oh, yeah.
Corey brought it up last episode.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah. Oh, did he? Oh, nice. Yeah yeah but yeah it's it's gonna be like stupid boring but there is like a technical
part of it i think there's like an interactive deliverable which is going to be like
basically some maps and stuff because it's like a it's meant to be like some traffic visualization stuff
but it's mostly going to be the paper that we have to write so i don't i honestly don't know
like okay think about this we have to do an entire systems design document when we're doing a research paper. How does that even make sense?
Like, and there's like our supervisor just doesn't get it. So you're... wait, so
you're doing a project that... I've complained enough about the fact that it doesn't... an agile project doesn't map onto the project structure. You're not even building something. Exactly,
and there are like entire sections on like uh systems design database and like writing up like the classes and stuff we
just left it out and just sent off the draft but i would recommend not doing that my recommendation
would be doug did mention this in one of the early things fill out those sections say we are doing a
research paper this is why we don't need a
database obviously that doesn't even make any sense as a statement yeah but for my system i'm
basically doing a game of sorts pretty much so i'm just saying we don't have a database this is why
the client didn't think that this was useful for our project but i don't even know what you can do i'm fine yeah i honestly don't know yeah it's the
research paper it's so boring is it at least like doing experiments or is it like doing what we're
doing no it's more just like it's more just analyzing some of the data i mean there's a
there's a lot of just raw data that we have to analyze.
And it's like narrative visualizations.
So it's just like, and that's about it.
That's the entire research paper.
So there's no real experimentation.
It's more just looking at the data, finding some insight,
chucking it onto the paper.
It's going to be so much fun.
It's a bit late now, but honestly, I would have said early on to take it to Doug.
But if you go to him now, he'll probably be like, why did you wait so long to come to me?
Honestly, we didn't even know what we were doing until like week six.
And we talked to Doug and he was like, oh, since this is a full year project, nothing to worry about.
If the data approval takes a while
and stuff so if it's it's like that i would still probably go to doug and be like this is a research
paper what do we do with this document yeah what i've had to do i've mentioned this a couple of
times i've just been retroactively documenting the system because we don't have ours is a research project
we're going to do a paper in second semester
but
ours has an existing code base that has no
documentation in it
so
it's just
what I've been doing, because I don't have
until very recently
I haven't had a computer do development work.
So I've had to go retroactively document 10,000 lines of code that doesn't have any documentation.
I haven't been doing it in the code base, just in my design document.
And my supervisor was like, wow, that sounds really useful.
I was like, yeah, it does, doesn't it?
Oh, if only someone had done it in the first place.
It sounds like none of the supervisors even know what the ICT project is.
Yeah, it's just such a mess.
Because if you have one who's accepted a project that just doesn't map onto the document,
like, that shouldn't have happened.
Yeah, that's, yeah, and, like, supervisor...
Who's your supervisor?
I think, Bruce. Oh oh you're bruce okay
yeah it's i wouldn't recommend bruce is my client oh my supervisor is andrew cunningham
i think he was actually meant to be my actual supervisor yeah but he just never turned up and
then only bruce turned up what i i was
talking to cory about this but what i heard is during my first meeting but when i had bruce and
uh andrew they were talking about who should take over which project
oh so they're like oh do you want to do the gaming one or do you want to do the research one and yeah
i think that's what ended up happening so that's why you haven't even come over
we didn't have andrew at my first meeting so and bruce was never meant to be there like his name
is not even on like the first document that we got yeah so they did switch over projects because
they didn't really know what's going on hey the only hope now is the non-graded pass so if if things go south and i get like a p2
and obviously i'm gonna pass i've already put in way too much effort how long is your design
document at this stage uh yours is weird but mine's fucking like everything other than the
system design is pretty like long yeah i mean like most of the stuff from the first section is just from the
srs document yeah that made it real easy wait how did you do the systems requirements document then
well did you just kind of we just kind of winged it all right you didn't know about the project so
you would have just guessed wouldn't you exactly we we told doug so many times and like we told our supervisors well
it's just you think your project is bad you have no idea yeah i i feel bad for you mine's
mine's easy as fuck and it's just not documented yours isn't even an ict project yeah exactly it's
a research project how it's like it's like a phd yeah how did you do the
presentation then the individual requirements presentation well here's i think i got a p2
because apparently i didn't discuss the deliverables enough but there are none so
i got hit on for that one for not saying what my role is and like what I was doing and I was just
like I am the project manager I do project management work fuck you okay here's the thing
we're okay we all
because we're working in oh anyway we're working pairs, and it's meant to be a research project,
but we had to say what specific thing we're doing individually,
but we can't just do something individually if it's a paper.
Yeah.
Even like visualizations, there has to be some sort of overlap.
If you knew it was a paper,
I would have absolutely just railed them hard on the fact that it's a paper.
Yeah.
I need to
talk to Doug, like, again, for, like,
the fourth time.
Hopefully.
Hopefully. I mean,
non-graded passes, I'm not too fussed.
I haven't gone?
Maybe. Yeah, just keep going with
what you're saying. I'll be back in just a
moment uh non-graded passes what was I saying oh yeah non-graded passes so yeah if things don't
work out and the supervisor just decides to give us a p2 I'll just say non-graded passes, yes please, and just not let my GPA tank too much, even though I'm
not too fussed about my GPA to be honest.
Hey, welcome back.
No, it's just people making noise next door.
They've got a, um, they've got like a shed sort of thing set up in their garage.
And they're like, I don't know, hammering shit or something.
Like one does on a lockdown.
Yeah.
People have been doing some weird shit.
Like I've been looking at my Facebook Messenger story thingies.
Facebook story.
I'm fucking.
I don't know what they're called.
And one of my mates was like, I just chopped down a tree today because he had a
tree that was in his yard that he didn't want oh that's so random yeah just oh you finally
realized your camera is too far away it's fine it's a webcam camera there's not much you can do
yeah it's just the one built into like the laptop yeah i've been cooking a lot more than usual hmm how's that been going oh i mean i'm not a bad cook
i'm a lazy cook real yeah i'm a pretty i i just it's usually just like italian stuff that's super
easy to make that's way harder than i do like a really yeah i'll tell you just a
moment oh you're not gonna stop the style there oh sorry sorry oh no no the the web the oh okay
video just died sorry yeah so i just make like lots of lasagna i can only buy two at a time at Kohl's.
And pasta sauce, you can only buy two at a time.
That's okay.
I had some left from before.
We usually used to buy pasta sauce and stuff from Amazon.
Because it's just too much effort. If it's the same price and it's probably cheaper on Amazon,
then why bother if you can get it at your home?
Yeah, yeah, pretty much.
Sorry, you were going to say something.
Yeah, I'm fucking lazy when it comes to cooking.
So I will steam some rice, I will steam some veggies,
and I'll fry some chicken.
And that is all.
No, that's a good meal, though.
Oh, it is.
But it's easy as hell to do it's easy how do you steam rice what
how the hell do you cook rice you boil it and you let it simmer yeah steaming rice okay that's i
don't think that's called steaming if you google it it's called steaming i don't know if it's
actually yeah isn't steaming just cooked with I'm aware of what steaming is, but...
Wait, let me check.
Steaming rice.
This has now become the sit-on-your-phone show.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, first link, best steamed rice.
Is that backwards? I don't know.
No, it's the right way.
Okay.
Wow. That's funny because i'm indian and we cook a lot of rice
oh no i mean i'm i'm super lazy so i just chuck it into like the rice cooker
i'm not a huge fan of rice either oh i love rice yeah rice is is... It's my staple food right now.
I like brown rice.
Yeah.
I like the chewy.
But you have to cook it for a lot longer.
Yeah, I've got...
I was doing long grain white rice,
and that cooks pretty quickly,
but now I've switched over to...
Well, not switched over.
I opened my five kilo bag of medium grain rice which takes a bit longer
uh that's a tough one actually i can't i am asking a linux guy what kind of rice he likes
that's fine um i i don't know i think there's something different about the medium grain rice
i've only ever had long grain.
Yeah, I think the medium grain is chewier.
It's definitely chewier.
Yeah.
I like chewy.
Yeah, I can get behind that.
So that five kilos...
And I hate it when...
Sorry, go on, go on.
That five kilos?
That five kilos are going to last for a while,
and then my next bag is five kilos of jasmine rice.
Ooh.
I don't know if that's... Jasmine's pretty good idea i've never had it jasmine's quite good but all i think my favorite
it's definitely long grain that's the best for like fried rice and stuff yeah absolutely i haven't
ever done fried rice i still need to get around to doing that. Really? I mean, the stuff you do with the vegetables
and the chicken and the rice,
you're pretty much done. You just need to check in
a bit of soy sauce and then
oyster sauce and
I don't know. Open a
can of ham or whatever. Spam.
Or fry
some bacon and just chuck it in there.
I'll try it out.
Maybe some eggs. No know i can't do eggs
oh that's a allergy thing oh yeah it was a developed allergy i got it as an adult
oh okay i mean eggs are not like what as far as allergies goes eggs are really not that bad
in my opinion.
Oh, they're bad for me.
It's not in... Oh, yeah, no.
They're not in a lot of stuff, yeah.
Yeah, exactly.
That's what I meant.
Not like gluten or peanuts.
Oh, I can do a little...
If it's like egg to stick on a batter or something, that I seem to be fine with.
But if it's like scrambled eggs i i am out of you can
you can have like cake i'm not a big cake person but yeah okay at least i don't know i haven't had
cake in a couple of years that's the thing oh okay so i just haven't tried it but last time i had
okay first time i thought i just cooked the eggs weirdly and And then I was like, okay, well,
because I was vomiting the entire day that time.
The next time I chucked out those eggs,
bought another pack of eggs,
tried to cook them again,
cooked them longer,
exact same thing happens.
Like, okay, I don't know what the fuck's happening here.
I never went to a doctor about it,
but if that happens twice with two different sets of eggs then it's
yeah i don't know i don't have any allergies that i know of yeah at least yet well i found out that
i'm not allergic to bees a while back ah because i was i was uh cycling and i had a bee in my shirt
oh and it started to sting me.
I was like, I didn't notice until I got home.
And then a bee fell out of my shirt.
I was like, oh.
Okay.
That's a thing that happens.
What a beefcake.
Didn't even realize that a bee stung you.
When you're cycling like 30 plus Ks, you don't notice shit like that.
Yeah.
Got a point.
Oh, I miss cycling.
I need to get back into that as
well yeah cycling i used to cycle back in like high school and stuff i just need to get exercise
have you not been doing any at all sometimes i go on a treadmill for like a bit but other than that just to so my heart doesn't give up when i'm
like 30 yeah that's fair other than that no not really much i try to go in my backyard a bit just
to get some light but i mean i'm like an introvert so like the cabin fever doesn't really oh yeah no
for me nothing's changed i didn't go to class anyway Same Like, I'll be speaking to some people
And be like, oh, it's so difficult
To stay at home all the time
Because they're realising they don't have hobbies
Oh
Oh yeah
I feel bad for anyone who doesn't have hobbies right now
Yeah, it's a
Or if your hobby is like drinking
And with your mates at the pub
That's not a hobby
that's just
yeah that's definitely not a hobby
most people that seem to be
struggling are people that have
their hobby is I like to hang out with my mates
that's not a hobby that's what everyone likes to do
but people like us who are just like
oh it's fine I'll just program all weekend that's fine i
don't want to see people anyway it's just uh just the normal day pretty much
i don't know how you do it brody what do you mean oh that yeah
i don't i don't know if you've seen The Office.
Have you seen The Office?
A couple of episodes, but I can't say I've seen all of it.
Yeah.
There's this episode where Dwight,
well, actually, it's Jim.
He, like, plays a sound.
It's apparently, like, just mimicking, like,
an experiment done on animals.
So he plays, a like a shutdown sound
on like windows or whatever and gives dwight a like a mint and then he does that constantly but
dwight doesn't realize and then he just plays this sound suddenly and then dwight dwight just
asks for a mint that's that's what's happening i am conditioning you to drink water honestly it's
not the worst thing i could be doing yeah true water's good water is good i speak to some
americans and they're real confused when i just carry around a water bottle everywhere
it's like mate you die if you don't have water with you. I have a ICT project meeting in 15 minutes.
Oh, do you?
Yeah.
Okay.
I didn't know this would go so long.
Do you have any exciting stuff on the list?
I want to get through them.
I did have one thing, but it's going to be a bit long.
Yeah, the only topic i have was gonna be about
how fucked polish uni is but i feel like i want to save that for a longer discussion
oh okay i've got a mate in poland who was telling me about it um i'll just send you the picture of
what the uh the dean of a polish university has to wear for official events and you'll feel sad that you had to miss out on it.
Okay.
I'll send you that just after we finish
because I've got this full screen right now, so there's not much
I can do about that.
So, you want to end it there because you've got
your meeting to go to?
Yep. Cool.
I think we've covered a lot of topics.
Yeah, we did, but I feel like
it was a natural flow this time,
unlike a lot of the earlier episodes.
Yeah.
Which I feel like is partially me and partially you as well.
You actually know how to have a conversation.
Do I?
That's good.
I mean, I'm like a total introvert, though.
Yeah, but I don't know.
You seem to at least know how to talk online
that's good
I think with Corey's episode it was a bit of a connection
problem though
yeah
he was also just a bit uncomfortable talking
in general
but well okay
the Marty episode was
that was an experience
he just loves the attention
and obviously connor being
used to being on camera he was fine as well so yeah i think we'll end it there do you have anything
that you want to promote at all um not really subscribe to Brody's channel, definitely. Subscribe to Tech Over Tea.
If you're listening on a podcast platform.
Yeah, you can listen to it fucking anywhere.
Subscribe, I guess.
Yeah, subscribe, I guess.
Spotify, iTunes, Google Podcasts,
wherever it is you want to listen to.
Apple, yeah.
Yeah, literally every podcast.
That's about it.
We have an RSS feed as well,
so if you want to use the RSS feed,
then do that. Wait, you feed as well, so if you want to use the RSS feed, then do that.
Wait, you use Anchor, don't you?
Yeah, that's what I use for my distribution, yeah.
Which is a Spotify thing, yeah.
Oh, is it? I didn't know.
Yeah, they've got a couple of different side projects.
Anchor is their podcast distribution thing.
I haven't looked super into their terms,
but it's free, so...
It works. I can always migrate to something else if i wanted to but for now it works a lot of people use anchor
yeah it's definitely nice that's for sure so none of your own stuff do you have to promote
nothing at all uh not really not looking for a job right now? Not currently.
Not currently, so you're happy with what you got, cool.
Yeah, pretty happy with my job.
Hopefully I get a graduate position there, hopefully.
That would be nice.
Hopefully.
Hopefully, yes, that would be good. Hopefully I can make enough off of this so I don't become homeless
while I'm not getting work at the supermarket.
I'm sure this will turn out really good.
Well, okay.
Hey, in the future,
you're going to have like your studio,
your podcasting studio,
and then maybe I'll come back again.
You can come back way before.
When I watch...
Oh, one thing.
I didn't mention this to you yet,
but Corey's already agreed to it.
When I watch Mr. Robot, do you want to come on for a Mr. Robot cast?
Yes. Let's do it.
So it'll be me, you, and Corey doing Mr. Robot cast.
Might do it after I finish each season,
and you guys then won't be able to say anything about the later stuff,
but you can make hints at stuff and talk behind my back.
I'm just going to say that this miss robot will take
your head for a spin first episode was already weird enough so i hope the rest is you have no
idea you have no idea okay well i'll absolutely watch it for sure i might it will just mess with
your brain if i'm not working tonight i don't know if i'm working tonight we'll find out in a couple of hours then i'll i might watch the first episode tonight and give you my
awesome looking forward to it okay cool so i'm sure you'll love it yeah i'm i'm not sure how
much time we have left until you have to go so i just was trying to trying to wrap it up but yeah I have to go like pretty soon
okay cool
we'll end it there then so before I go
before discord
fucking dies and before my oven
shows up I want to thank my
patrons Nathan, Andrew, Roto, Oku, Larry, Ray
and Zilver who help make this channel possible without their support
I wouldn't be doing this as well today and I
it's only like $45 Australian a month, but it is helping me not be homeless
So I appreciate the support if you want to watch this content on YouTube library all of that's available
You can watch the audio download as well on
Wherever audio podcasts are available you'll find it there the RSS feed is also down below
So if it's not available there just copy the link to that So I think we're going to end episode 10 there it's been about two and a half
hours it's been actually a really good episode i would say it felt pretty natural for once which is
an improvement yeah i think it was a pretty good episode too so how do you want to sign out the
podcast um how do you how do you usually sign out don't have a way to sign up to do it
do it abruptly um we should um uh i i honestly don't know i'm bad at this i'm usually always
behind the camera i'm usually like a post and production kind of guy. Yeah. Yeah. Well, um,
let's think of something interesting quickly.
Uh,
um,
let's not inject ourselves with disinfectant.
I think we can all agree with that.
Excellent.
That was episode 10 of tech over tea.
Don't inject yourself with Lysol and I hope everyone stays safe.
So see you guys later.
