Starting point is 00:00:00 There should be trumpets before this before this announcement. Well, let's get some trumpets deckland You can't handle fucking thunder claps Yes, whole Everything alright a major major major release is being announced right now. This is This is huge. I mean in the I think that it's it's one of the milestone moments in this podcast history, it's young history. Right. So, excuse me.
Starting point is 00:00:31 This is one of those the moments where, and what would you call, I guess, product? I guess it's the only word you could use to describe it that will, that others will be measured against. That I agree with. Also, this is the first product that we took. Well, no, we've been doing it, but like the lessons we learned from Kickstarter, where we were like, let's not, let's not announce a project until it's completed and ready to go. It's difficult as it was for some people.
Starting point is 00:01:06 With Dondom looking in your direction. The Dondom was absolutely out of his mind, right? Like rabbit, like to the point where I'm like, what's your answer? I was like, he's definitely fucking around with me. Like somebody got a butterfly, and there's something wrong with this guy. Like I didn't truly believe he was this rabbit
Starting point is 00:01:22 to have this item released. I mean, it was literally like weekly at a certain point, this rabbit to have this item released. I mean, it was literally like weekly at a certain point, which I guess isn't that bad, but I thought he was just fucking with me at a time. So then I realized he was doing it to everybody else. I was like, oh my God. He's not that great at troll.
Starting point is 00:01:39 But he has reasons to be excited about this. As do we and everybody else involved.. So what is it? You're not going to distance yourself from it a little bit because I felt like you were I am distancing myself a little bit from what from the problem from what you're about this product you're about to and I was this himself. Well in terms of I can't I can't say that it was in my... It was not in my... It wasn't in my... That's your wheelhouse. This particular item, this particular vehicle doesn't play to...
Starting point is 00:02:13 Like, tell me what it is, I'll then explain why. Okay, it is a vinyl cast too. Yes! Woo! Finally. Four years later, in 2012, right right we became the first podcast ever Why are we in the book the Guinness Book World Records? Is it a category for that? I'll look into it because yeah, I think it's just submitting paperwork
Starting point is 00:02:36 We became the the first podcast ever to release an episode online Okay, ever in the history of the universe In the media. There may be other people who lay little asterisk though, like you don't know it. Now, because if the word podcast may be ill-defined, there may be radio shows that release stuff. Well, there was a radio shows.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Where we live and die by the podcast. Yes. It is life and death. And it took us four years Way more than when you were on the part of party. It took us four years to Come to a follow-up that we that we Deemed or they not only is it a follow-up not as it only called vinyl cast to mm-hmm, but is Since it's the second time it's ever since it's the second release.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Twice as big. Twice as big means it's a double album. Double album. Now, think about the world's greatest double albums. Quickly come into mind. Frampton comes alive. Okay. Kiss alive, one and two.
Starting point is 00:03:43 The Wall. All gonna have to take a back seat now, baby. Cause to a new fucking fucker, a new all-time great double album artist. Yeah, there's a new kid on the scene. He's the name of his tellers. Physical graffiti. Throw it out. You're not gonna need it anymore.
Starting point is 00:04:02 All right. Physical graffiti at double own. Yeah. So all of it's the same right to Well fuck all them anyway, it doesn't matter. They get all suck. Yeah, nobody's even thinking about them right now because they're here No, suck a bone or frampton What is the hotel tell the people about the concept? What was the concept? The concept is my 40th birthday was in March, so everybody got together and everybody use anybody in the tell them Steve Dave world came together this night in
Starting point is 00:04:32 Jersey at a comic book store to make podcasting history again. So roast me. Do you think they'll put that in the Guinness book with one with one direction do not hold back remember that shit that you said we're gonna say about Ming all those years ago and we had you pull it out yeah that was fucking Paul for the course and he used it and he used it and he used it and he's here well you what you thought you wondered what was crying told not to say in that Christmas episode Yeah, now you'll now it's revealed oh man
Starting point is 00:05:10 That's why when I say like I'm not at an ink distance so I saw this wrong word, but I do feel like you did great Well, we don't need to we don't need to put pick lips I said because it's so strong anyway, it doesn't matter what I did or didn't do it but I that roasting somebody and being ruthless and just bloodthirsty for with the insults, I found it difficult to do. I definitely was uncomfortable in it, but it was in Brian's, this was what Brian was built for. Yes. This is what he was put on his earth to do.
Starting point is 00:05:49 And apparently a lot of other people were too, because nobody disappointed. Ming Chen, I've dubbed him the assassin now after this, because he is literally ruthless. He says shit that you would not believe your beloved Ming Chen would say. And we were like when we did it we were like well who should lead off you know where should we place people you know we don't we all lead off with somebody who's you know maybe it's not going to be all that great in the material. So we some for some reason we thought Ming wouldn't be but
Starting point is 00:06:22 my god the bar was immediately set so fucking high that it's like holy shit And the reason that laddan though is so bonerific for the releases He fucking comes in like a fucking vicious surgeon just ripping pieces out of Everybody that was my one regret was that I didn't really go after him because I had no idea that he had that level of anger You know just a couple like throw away jokes and here's Chris the don't know and then yeah He really went for it man. He went for the jugular here. So the artist that you could look forward to hearing I have Final cast two Michael Zapsick right Get him Steve Dave another fucking another guy who came out swinging.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Sunday Jeff. All framptons. Stacy Patella, first time ever, she will speak. That's right. There are, there are some of friends of mine that could have been in the room sent in tapes. Rose, if you will, we got a Doug Stanhope comedy legend. It comes out me pretty hard.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Salvo Gatto. Yeah. Joe Gatto. Owen. Owen Benjamin. Stacey Patela makes a tape. Fucking hardly ripping me apart. Justin.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Rick and Morty. Not even Justin Reuland. Rick and Morty. Not even Justin Royalina. Rick and Morty call in and fucking roast the shit out of it. In a fucking surprising, very surprising tack that they take. Well, I don't want to ruin for you, but if you're a fan of Rick and Morty and you've always wanted to hear them viciously and vulgar-esquely rip apart in a practical Joker it's there. We got Ian K. Morris. Ian Morris, yes. Maxwell, Mikey Z, which is Zapsick. Everybody who's anybody who ever appeared on that you all your... Somewhere Frank three was like... Well Frank three was invited he did show up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:27 That's usual. Right. That's all. But this album is now available at Telmsteedave.com. Go check it out. It's on merch table, double album. You're going to get the digital download upon purchase.
Starting point is 00:08:44 So the album may ship to you, it may take a week or 10 days, but you're able to listen to the episode that as soon as you buy it. And that's already worked out with Mark's Table, right? It's already done. Done, they got it. They got it, it's done. And in celebration, the release of Final Cast 2, another major announcement cue. What's that? The re-release of Final
Starting point is 00:09:06 Cast One, the foam face edition. For all the foam faces that didn't get it on the Final Cast the first time. We said we would never do it. I was a true obviously. We watched. But it was a lot of people, a lot of listeners were bummed out they could never get this or listen to this. And you, I don't know if it was you or Brian who came up with the idea, well let's change the artwork in the cover, which we just changed a couple colors. And we put a stamp on it right on the front that says foam face edition. So there's no if ands or buts that you're getting the inferior version. You are definitely getting the inferior version and paying top dollar for it.
Starting point is 00:09:51 And a disc is white. Remember? Is that true? Oh, it better be we order them in white. If that's true, then it is. So possibly. I don't know. Yeah, as I recall, the foam face additions are all white, white vinyl. And so, in the tradition of foam. That's right. That's what we did it right. Yeah, you're fucking foam face, you're a foam face, you know what that means. But you have to embrace it. You got to embrace it, you fucked up.
Starting point is 00:10:19 You fucked up, you're a foam face, you get in the white vinyl, the foam face addition stamp. Yeah, the logo is a different color now and it says, and it's so, it's so you can't miss it. It's a gigantic stamp on the front that says phone face edition. And there's more celebration queue. Yes. We had put aside our own personal stash, some first pressing, so vinyl cast one. That's right. Final Cast one.
Starting point is 00:10:45 That's right. You originally... I was planning on sending my kids to college with that money. But since I was outvoted on the phone face edition, now being my first pressings worthless. More worth $15 more than the phone face edition. That's right. There are only, I mean, these are a handful of products. There's like 50 of them, right?
Starting point is 00:11:11 Yeah, I think there's less than 100. There's less than 100 up there. Once they're gone, they're gone. There will be no more first pressing. This is the last item. This is the aftermarket. We've essentially crushed, killed the market for the first pressings anyway, right with the foam face edition but
Starting point is 00:11:28 If you are if you are Completist and you want the first pressing it's there now, it won't be there forever So if you don't you know, please don't email me there are no more if you get there too late I think all it is like one or two reds in there to it That don't say those things, okay, we don't know for sure. Don't ever don't get people so hope so. All right, but there are as well with the vinyl cas too. Yeah, the first 350 people to order.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Yeah, we're gonna get something unique and special, a little special insert that we put in the first 350 copies. A piece of the original felt from the table we recorded all those episodes from. That's right. So when everybody over the summer was like, of the original felt from the table where we recorded all those episodes from. That's right. So when everybody over the summer was like, oh, what the fuck, why'd you take the felt off? Where is it?
Starting point is 00:12:10 And couldn't answer those questions. A special swan is included of the felt in the first 350 copies that go out. Is the first 350 copies that go out? Or is it randomly, it's not random? It's not random, I thought it would be best to do it as as the first the first for energy but they won't know if they're one of the first 350 until they get it okay well the fucking second they hear it well that's
Starting point is 00:12:36 what this what this is like Pavlo's dog right yeah listen to fucking tell him see they when it drops on fucking immediately. Stop what you're doing. Don't wait. 10 days to listen to it. You're missing out on good shit. Right. That's what makes your phone face. Yes. If you don't want to be a phone face, then it comes out. So you don't miss out on stuff like this. I know. Yeah. Yeah. What? You got you got a life you got kids. So do I get over it yeah you're doing more than listening you're down here fucking doing this shit yes so I mean if you're this is one of those reasons why you should be listening immediately as Tom Steve Dave drops right I understand life gets
Starting point is 00:13:16 in the way but still do you feel because there is no this is one of the best episodes of Tom Steve Dave ever I honestly feel the the roast it's fucking it's undeniable it will it's undeniable I know with people are like oh they're talking it up no no I think it's word of mouth we don't even need to so word of mouth will I didn't say about the first one I wasn't like it's one of my best episodes ever but it was more about the novelty about the achieving you know the, the being first, like, you know, the first man in the moon. Right. You know, that mission didn't go so smooth.
Starting point is 00:13:49 It was one of the best. I got on the moon. Yeah, they got there, though. Right. They left. They left. I hear they left a whole bunch of shit up there that they weren't supposed to. Yeah. Like they shit all over the place.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Not literal. They still go on the moon. They still went on the moon. Yeah, things, you know, but yeah, they refine that mission, or you know until they got it just right just like vinyl cast Right, it's been refined out to let's the perfect beast. So do you think that this is gonna be the start of a tell-em-stube Dave roast series? Not necessarily on vinyl Hmm, I don't know Because it's so fucking good
Starting point is 00:14:23 You know the don those out for it? Yeah, I know. Almost there. Everybody's got the next six written. I mean, it would be a mic or a wooden one. I would not be looking forward to that. Mike takes a lame basting. Mike gets pretty hard. Well, I don't mean, and I don't even mean that that Mike wouldn't be looking forward to it. I just think me and him are not interested or don't it doesn't appeal to us to sit down and try to deconstruct or right in front of everybody, you know, all their friends. Like just dismantle your humanity. Because the way a roast works.
Starting point is 00:15:00 That's how it works and why I knew going in that's what was going to be like, but I can't say that I was That I was comfortable doing well. That's why James Murray from a random joggers recused himself he he had said He it's not really his thing. He doesn't like being that mean He doesn't understand why people would even do it so he was like basically like and I you got to respect it But guys basically saying I love you too much much to sit there and rip on you. And the only reason I did it was because of the fact Final Chaos money. I sold my soul just like for fucking me. Oh, you're worse than Hitler. I sold that on my principles.
Starting point is 00:15:39 But at the same time, I did it for love Yeah, cuz the way it works right is like at some of this a day as an arm up there and They're supposed to be roasting me, but they really just it's an excuse to take pot shots at everybody Yeah, just not just you that's oh I get at least at times. I mean everybody gets Everybody gets put under the microscope and like Brian said this mantle then Some some worse than others But it's all all done, you know like people will be laughing It's it's I think some people will be shocked too. Oh, I know I think you're in I think some people Yeah, they're going to be like their jaws will hit the floor how how harsh and how
Starting point is 00:16:26 heinous it could get because that was the rule you cannot hold back we were going to the fire club what's going yeah prayers for rules so like it was like you you either come come hard or don't come at all that's your old fucking bush belt comedians I was'm like the comedy centralist. Yeah, but I would put this on par with the comedy's edge of the ones like if you're a Don't See Day fan. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. If you're looking for cruel and cold hard and going, you know, like if you need a safe word, you know, don't, if you have you use safe words, do not come into don't buy this wine, okay, it's because it's brutal, it's unrelenting and it's it should get the rated M. We should have put
Starting point is 00:17:14 a rated M on the front cover. Yeah, yeah, great Wayne Jansen comes back and he helps out with the front cover. Okay, I was like, what the fuck? Well, they're really even talking about the artwork yet. Well, you can go check it out. There's a talk about it. Go look at it on Mark's table right now. It's up there. It's ready to order. And I go review it. I don't know where you can review it, but go somewhere. Let us know what you think. Yeah. Right now, we're not selling it digitally or anything like that. We're not selling it digitally. You get a digital download. Right. But but it's off of sale on iTunes or bank amp or anything. Yeah. This is the only place you can get it. Right now. We will never release it. You get a digital download. Right. But it's Office L and iTunes are bank-capped or anything. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:46 This is the only place you can get it. Right now. We will never release it. No, don't say that. Yes. We always reliant that anyway. I don't think that the original one? No, it did it.
Starting point is 00:17:55 That'll come with our digital download, too. Oh, really? Okay. If you buy the first pressing, you get a digital download of the content. And the phone face. If you get a phone face, you're getting a digital download of the content. Well, if I don't get this, too, you're getting a digital download of the content and the phone face you're getting a digital content down low content. I'm dying vinyl cares too you're getting a digital download of the content. So with the caveat that we do lie and go back on our words, this will never be released for sale.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Digital maybe when the vinyl can when the vinyl sell out. Right. We're doing this one pressing wink, wink. We pretend we pretend we pretend a lot. So it may be a while. But yeah, if you want want if you're interested in hearing it and you're gonna wait for just about it digital only You're gonna have a long way. Yeah, that's for sure so do it man So what is it tell us you Dave that com brings you to the page? You're gonna write it to it. Don't be a foam face. This is the perfect
Starting point is 00:18:40 Christmas gift for a tell them Steve Dave Listen, right? I mean this is the or or impractical Joker or impractical Joker right that's where we got to sell this as what Joker product yeah yeah you want to hear Joe Gatto be fucking vicious Joe Gatto says some shit that like yeah it's not the only fuck the fun loving He handed it to me and he was like I hope I didn't go too far and I listened and I was so I was laughing so hard I was like this for the fucker. It's got a mean streak. It was great Yeah, he's all good with like the iJ crowd right they're all on board like we didn't we didn't burn
Starting point is 00:19:20 He bridges when you said anything about iJ Did you? No, I don't think so there seems to be some sort of like when I was like, he was not going to be your girlfriend just cut the shit a couple weeks ago. Yeah, we should. People got upset at that. You really should have fucking not said that until we release it. And speaking of that, until the release of the file gets it, speaking of like, I was trying so hard to get this out before 300.
Starting point is 00:19:40 So we have to give Mrs. Guinam a copy. She's getting one. She's, she's listening. Congratulations give Mrs. Genome a copy Congratulations Mrs. Gitton. Yeah, you're fucking So we just I don't know where she's getting final cast two she's getting a fault face Come on. There's no way she's getting the special felt swatch though, right? I mean you're gonna throw the line All right, yeah, the little extras were not promised Did we even heard from her? No.
Starting point is 00:20:06 So we don't even know what to send it. I, I, I have all her, all her. I'm sure we do. I'm getting them's crawl space. But she's, don't worry. Yeah. I, I made a hope, maybe she, maybe she was listening to this and she'd already placed the order.
Starting point is 00:20:19 You can't cancel it, Mrs. Gidham. I got to. I'm going to eat them and put it on there. Why don't you stop being such a eat them and put it on there. Why don't you stop being such a fucking skull and just order this shit instead of expecting us to hand you everything for free, Mrs. Gittam. But this is her first time she's actually getting something. What did they say about a shock once he said? Oh, the Parisian. The Parisian.
Starting point is 00:20:40 This is the first piece. This is her first actual thing that she could look at and say like, well at least I got this. Right, right. Okay. If there's nothing else. That's not bad. Say, what's with this mule and yarn and the hot dogs.ada, Leukemia. Are you worse than Jared from Subway Channel?
Starting point is 00:21:35 Tell him, Steve Dave. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Tell Him Steve Dave. Yes, yes, yes, Q. Yes, yes, what? Yes, what? Yes, what? What's happening? Are you enthused? No, not really. What should I be enthused about?
Starting point is 00:22:00 No, no. Sime. Oh, well that I am enthused about, yes, I am. I know I am. Sime is watching to introduce some cue. Sime is, say I see them, so they know who I'm talking about. Hey, how are you, Q? Okay. Sime is the, you know, Q, you don't know us. Why wouldn't you say hello to us? Sorry, hey guys, I'm super rid. Don't take this, you're the true, I mean, I guess the only way to say that you're the network executive assigned to
Starting point is 00:22:29 Impractal Joker's correct. Yep. Okay, and as such the only one Yeah, right now the only one. Yeah, we need buddy. That's right because Machine need it more than one man Yeah, you would think so right well He does a good job. What's it me short for? It's actually short for my Hebrew name Simcha So just a little yeah, so easy so fucking weird that is that was my high school nickname You look like a simple yeah, I do right? Semi is very of religious right like you keep do keep you keep the word I keep the Sabbath like
Starting point is 00:23:03 Cochua He's a comedy guy. He's not having a door about it. Christian Guy versus a Hebrew guy. Versus a sickness? I'll have to pitch a show today. I may not work so much if... You got a show to pitch to me? No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:23:16 I thought I had something to do with Hitler. I thought it was normally a toast. Oh, really? Don't worry about it. It's fine. So what happened is each network, I mean each show kind of has an overseer at the network. And Simea's hour over. How long you've been on the show now?
Starting point is 00:23:38 Years now. Three years, yeah. Three years. And everybody before Sime semi was a fucking disaster And some of them still work at the network At last time I called on a disaster. I got in trouble for it But I could say now anyway, I don't care So but semi's not going on record is saying this person was a disaster
Starting point is 00:23:58 I don't think so because he's got to work right next door to him No, I think I think the people who I'm pretty sure the executives Who used to work on the show aren't at the network anymore All of, I think the people who, I'm pretty sure the executives who used to work on the show aren't at the network anymore. All of them. I think you chased him a little away. Okay. That's great.
Starting point is 00:24:10 I mean, there's definitely people involved in the show. We have other people who work on the show, you know, in other roles. We really have problems with anybody except for, it was tough getting us an executive that way. Well, one, the president of the network was kind of, what's the word to me, asshole? I'll leave this one to you, okay. Okay, he's kind of an asshole. I mean, he had his lovable moments, but for the most part, he was very difficult to work
Starting point is 00:24:33 with. And for the first couple of years of in practical jokes, existence, I'm sure it's been documented on this show. We had a very difficult relationship with the network. New president comes in, Chris Lynn, Marissa, who found that show got promoted. Now we have a great relationship with the network. I'm semi-subiquit part of that.
Starting point is 00:24:51 We actually like him. And he's funny, he helps out the show and stuff like that. That's why he's here, because I like him. When I came on, there was definitely, there was, it felt like you guys were coming out of an abusive relationship. Yes, without a doubt. They couldn't even lift their hand to pet us
Starting point is 00:25:07 without us looking at bite. By boiling. Yeah, exactly. Wow. It tackles up. Yeah, you wouldn't think it'd be like that. Yeah, it was majorly like that. Really?
Starting point is 00:25:18 So you got treated like shipper. I don't know how you're doing first. They didn't want to do. Like the first season in the show our ratings were pretty pretty good Yeah, they're pretty pretty strong. I think we better than they are now actually because now they just play us all the time So people can watch whatever but the first season of the show we were getting high But this this crew this top crew at the time would watch the show Minnet by minute ratings wise like you they could break down that and that. And if it dipped, if it dipped,
Starting point is 00:25:47 he would look at that minute of the show, call us up to the network to yell at us about the content of that one minute. And then he would be like, well, now I want you to write jokes. All right, let's say the bit is we're working on the convict store and you have to do whatever I tell you to. This particular president wanted us to submit a packet of jokes for what we might say if an Asian woman walked in, if a little kid walked in and he would want to approve or have one of his executives approve each joke. So we would write it, send it up, they
Starting point is 00:26:26 would write yes or no next to it and send it back. And we wouldn't do it. Like we would either fight against it or we would sit or we would have a secret page of jokes for ourselves or we would just make it up in the spot and totally ignore it. It would just create all these problems. That was always a feeling I got that when you're when you're telling people to say stuff, some of that stuff might be written ahead of time, but the majority of it was just like off the cuff like we do. All the best stuff is off the cuff, right?
Starting point is 00:26:54 But in a world where you guys aren't live, this isn't happening a lot. You're in a, it's not streaming live. What terms is it make what you say that you can just be edited out, whatever joke you make that they may not like in the final cut But would belong to them because the they let it go through Right, but it's fucking fault is it that they're not happy with well then we would get to the other five years ago Well, that's a bad form then we would get to the edit and then it would be a whole mother fight like every every part was a was a joke And we don't really work like that. We don't we don't I mean I
Starting point is 00:27:23 Haven't written a fucking joke for the show in years, you know what I mean? Because now we're so used to it and we know we're doing, we just get up and just kind of do our things. We still have writers, you know what I mean? Casey and the guys and stuff like that. But I feel like the network's in a different place though. Like when you, when Joker's came out, I mean, this is even before my time, when I, when I started four years ago, a true, Jokers was already on the air.
Starting point is 00:27:46 And it was really the only comedy because you had like hardcore pond and you had, you know, you had lizard like towing, all these like toe truck shows, and we had Jokers. And it was, I feel like a lot of the people that I work probably didn't know what to do with comedy. Why did the network move away from all the towing shows? I miss them. Thank you. What's that hot to show you look for?
Starting point is 00:28:06 Weed and circle. But I mean, Jeff or Lopez was involved with the towing. Yeah, that was the shout beach toe. Yeah, I think, well, I think actually, Joker's had a lot to do with that. I think that, you know, Chris Lynn came in as the new president network and, you know, they decided that we wanted to do more comedy and yeah I think the to truck shows those shows got a pretty decent number but I think advertisers especially weren't crazy about it. They would be considered not comedy because it definitely looked like they were trying to go for labs. Yeah it was like reality comedy it was a little
Starting point is 00:28:37 different you know I mean this joke is a reality show but it's not like a it's not it's not it's not the docuseries like the the docus follow shows like, like, lizard-like towing. No, comic men's a little different. I feel like a show like, because lizard-like towing, it was sort of like this created drama, the, you know, people getting into huge fights and more people yelling at each other. Exactly. So it's those, it's those kinds of shows that I feel like the network wanted to move away from and more into shows like Jokers like Carbonara Effect, which is a hidden camera magic show,
Starting point is 00:29:09 and then we started doing some scripted stuff as well. Did they ever suggest that the Jokers tow some cars back in the day? No. Maybe not. Get in line with the rest of the work. No, we're talking about Jennifer Lopez's car. I would tow a car anyway. They did after the first season, and I think the first season, I mean, what we
Starting point is 00:29:27 got paid was just insane and laughable. And when we answer a raise for the second season, the present network of the time told us, assuming how you were not there for this, thank God, that, okay, here's what we'll do. We'll test, we'll focus test the show. And the three joggers who test the best will keep on the show. We're gonna fire the fourth one and give his salary to the other three. Like that's what we're dealing with.
Starting point is 00:29:53 I never heard that, that's a name. Yeah, just for asking for like a really good something I go along with. I was gonna say, well if you're the joke gonna test the least, you don't want that. I'm speaking from a personal. But on comic book, man, you did all the dice with that. Who? All the dice you play Russian roulette with when the cast of comic men,
Starting point is 00:30:12 you go, you walk into original media and you're like, and they present that to you. Like, okay, you want to raise Mr. Johnson. Here's what we'll do. We'll test an episode and the comic man gets the least approval is gonna walk. I feel like that's playing Russia roulette with an unloaded gun. You've been saying I would do that. Oh yeah. The Marvel.
Starting point is 00:30:38 They wanted me to stop doing talent-seep Dave, the original thing. I never heard this. They did. They've been told this. They've been threatened to sue me. Why? What were they afraid of? Well, because we were going into production and compoke men and they were worried that I was going to bleed into, because in my contract with true, it says
Starting point is 00:31:00 that I can do tell them to do it. I knew that. And that I can do any TV shows based on tell them to do and they were concerned or he was concerned I should say that AMC was Greenlit comic book men just to get back at him because he had worked for them in quit and was trying to steal steal me off the show now do you think he like you believe right now they're still getting back at him he's a true I don't know what he believes is he can be a maniac. Yeah, I don't know where he is. So Marissa who still works a true who's one of the people called me up and Was like she was in such a odd position because she was basically like I got this present at work as a maniac telling me to call you to tell you to quit
Starting point is 00:31:43 This thing, you know, and I had a very rational conversation with her and she was just like well, you're I can't ask you not to do this This is insane. So she just she went back to the network and fought for me Which is why I always have a soft spot my heart from her is a on top of that. She's also insanely beautiful A lot of reasons that I have she saved Tom Steve there. She's some the woman. How we don't even know? Not only did she greenlight the practical jok. Yeah, she green lit and practical jokers. She she was the one that got jokers made But she also saved tell me Steve. Yeah, no, nobody even knows who she is. She's an unsung hero. Plus she's a hottie She is also. Yeah, she's Importantly, no, just mentioned it. Oh
Starting point is 00:32:22 So yes, she's on most importantly, no, you just mentioned it though. Yeah. But that's overshadowed by her professional achievements. Right. So you like semi. Oh, I like semi. You weren't pressured into bringing a suit onto promote the show.
Starting point is 00:32:36 I've been, I get into fights with semi. I am? Oh, vicious fights with semi. We've gotten into it. We've gotten into it a few times. Not over religion. Not over religion. Not over religion, but like, what? I've gotten into fights with Simmy's where I've been screaming.
Starting point is 00:32:51 And then like two days later, I feel really bad. And then I go like, then I'm overly nice for like six months. That sounds about right. Yeah. So, I send me the guy sometimes when we hear you ranting and raving. Yes. I love fun that you're talking to.
Starting point is 00:33:02 That's usually Simmy on the other end. Yeah. It's been less of it though, than I think in the beginning it was more of it, right? Well, because of the whipped dog syndrome, but the latest thing was a Benjamin Catchorch, which now I'm finally getting over. So I'm reaching out to semi to try and build the bridges again. This podcast is the olive branch.
Starting point is 00:33:18 Yeah, well, didn't launch the other day was the olive branch. Yeah, right. But so, but he's also very funny, so I thought he'd be good on the show. And I want to give him the opportunity to come on here and say whatever he wanted. And I figured if he wanted to air grievances, he could. That's like playing a Russian or a letter. And he may say something that you may not like. I know. But that's what I'm willing to do for our audience. Who's the who's I'm sure every Joker is a joy to work with. But who's the
Starting point is 00:33:44 who's the one that's like that? Like that you go to like, well, let me go to him. He's the who's I'm sure every Joker is a joy to work with but who's the one that's like that like that you go to like Well, let me go to him. He's the he's absolutely the he's the easiest and I want to talk to him because he's the one that I Before you answer that why don't you guess? Um Like you know you go to this person because he's the most level head to one that not I don't want to say in a bad way But like he's just easier to deal with than you know because I'm sure they're all easy to deal with but like he's extremely easy to work with I'm gonna say it's um it's got it with it 100% it's got it. Joe yeah it's interesting I don't know I feel like I go to each of them for different
Starting point is 00:34:16 different sorts of things yeah Joe I mean Joe's the one I go to most for um for kind of nuts and bolt stuff with a show I feel like cute yeah with yeah, with Q, it's either gonna be, it's gonna get super emotional and it's usually gonna come around. There's a lot of heart involved, but that can come up. You're normally going back to Q for an apology for something. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:34:34 You gotta kind of buckle up when you're calling Q. And most, you know the conversations are gonna get heated if it starts off with Q saying, you know, this honor even give a shit about this. I don't even care about this. Like, you could do what I'm using really cares about. Rearings are really cares. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:48 Yeah, that's usually, nobody speaks more passionately about how little they give a shit about something than Q. But this goes right to the fact in that like, he's only pulling himself. Oh yeah, yeah, completely. So, okay, so it's Joe then. I've, there's no real answer to who's the easiest to talk to.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Do you ever talk to Sal at all? I was gonna say, I talk, Sal and Mur, I talk to the least in terms of like a little text or whatever about sort of things. But I feel like I talk to you, I talk to Joe most. Right. But does anybody have, does anybody have a personal relationship with you like I have?
Starting point is 00:35:22 No. Right? No. That? No. That's the thing. Yeah. I'll kind of consider this in me a friend, so we'll just touch each other. Kind of. Like I said, kind of.
Starting point is 00:35:31 Right. Well, I know you have. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I mean, I don't, no, I definitely don't have that level of relationship with the other guys where I feel like, you know, we get into a fight, really have that and then sort of come around. So yeah, it's a different relationship for sure. Who is, who would he be comparable? Who would, who would, who would he, the, the counterpart on Comp吓man? What is, who is role as he, so I just have an idea of who's the network
Starting point is 00:35:56 suit on Comp吓man? Yeah, probably, probably Marco, who you know, I don't think you know, like you met him, that maybe you met him that one day that he came in with his family. On vacation? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, okay. So this is a powerful man. This guy right here, it's true. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:12 I just it was power. You can tell you can sense it. Sime does guide the comedy in the show. Like if he doesn't like something, it doesn't get on. Oh, so there is. So yeah, he is. So is a heavy hand. I mean, I feel like I feel like sometimes you might't get on. Oh, it's still there is. So yeah, it is. It's a heavy hand. I mean, I feel like sometimes,
Starting point is 00:36:27 you might disagree with this. I feel like sometimes, like our job is to sort of, like I feel like you guys could get close to it. Obviously, you're like in it all the time and I feel like there are times, there are times, there are happen times. I feel like the times sometimes when you and I have gotten into it, it's when there's something
Starting point is 00:36:40 that you guys feel strongly about the fans are gonna love and I kind of look at it as like, yeah, but what about the, you know, all the first time viewers, all the people who don't know the show so well, that sort of thing. So I feel like that's sometimes when we get into it. That's true. So you were, you were always trying to appeal to the broadest audience possible because every episode may be someone's first episode.
Starting point is 00:36:59 So if they're calling something back. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I mean, I look at, I love callbacks. I love moments that sort of, that fans can point to and love and feel like it's theirs, but at the same time, if there's something that, if there's something that specifically wouldn't be funny to people tuning in the first time or would feel kind of self-indulgent,
Starting point is 00:37:18 that's usually when I get in there and say, well, maybe we could do this a different way. They seem like indulgent guys. Do you find yourself crossing a lot of stuff off their list? Be jokers. Honestly, there's very, I have to say, there's very little, I mean, there's not a lot that we rejected at this point. Oh, look at these looking at me.
Starting point is 00:37:34 I... Q's the most indulgent one, right? Oh, yeah. He's like, this is funny. Semi. Yeah, I know, I know funny. I think that's come up a couple times. Oh! Oh! I know funny. I think that's come up a couple times
Starting point is 00:37:51 I can shoot we get into the stat and island map. Should we get into that? We can get the style map, but I don't think you're gonna win that one. Okay, well Let's I have we have a couple of members of the jury here. They can help that with this All right, oh trial. Yes fire it's all right. Go ahead I don't think you win this one. No, but I did apologize for this You did you did and you brought it up a bunch of times. All right great. So You got the okay from Q. He's like fucking I'm I was so happy to say a really good thing. You won it. I lost this.
Starting point is 00:38:27 Kikusan, I'm not going to win it now. So now we're not going to win in the trial by fire ends. I was just... But you won the call. Well, this is a road game for me, I understand. So I don't know how. Yeah. You know, by the...
Starting point is 00:38:39 Don't, don't. These guys want me to be wrong. So, perfect. So, here's what happened. I was only on the show for a couple of weeks, probably at this point, and we were doing it. It was early on. It was early on, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:51 Because Dolgins had been there. Adam Dolgins was overseeing the show, and then he left, and then I took over that point. I liked Dolgins a lot, too. Yeah, he's a good friend of mine. He brought me in, he's a good friend of mine. So what happened was we were designing a new show open, right? If fans know the beginning of the show, it starts off and you see the guys,
Starting point is 00:39:09 you know, there's animation behind them and all that and it's just, and it's the graphic open for the show. So, the guys wanted all these statin island icons behind them in the show open, which made sense. You feel right away he's jumping a lot of impertinent facts. All right, you could fill in. You could fill in. Are there any important stuff on landmarks?
Starting point is 00:39:28 Aside from the dump. So, we got the Verizano bridge, you got the stand on, Ferry. Right. Which we put into the show over. Sure. I consider the Verizano is belonging to Brooklyn really not still.
Starting point is 00:39:40 Well, I'll give it a 50-50 thing on it. So, the guys took a look at the open, which looked amazing. Well, we didn't, well, hold on. OK. Let me stop you right there. Yeah, I'll give it a 50-50 thing. So, so the guys took a look at the open, which looked amazing. Well, we didn't. Well, hold on. Okay. Let me stop you right there. Yeah, go for it. I remember when we were standing. Going into season three, it was the day we were shooting the fatone thing. The day we were shooting with Joey Fatone at the diner. And I remember we were backstage. I was on the house when I was on the phone with you about this. I remember exactly where we were. Yeah. So go ahead. Here's what happened. Okay.
Starting point is 00:40:06 The third season of a show, at that point, they were arguably or not forming the network around this, right? This is just my perspective. Here it comes. We did not even find out that there was new opening graphics for the show until they sent it to us. So we were a little bit like, well, why wouldn't we be consulted on it? Fair enough.
Starting point is 00:40:26 That was that, that, that, okay, but that, right, that's, to be fair, that's not where you and I got into it. That's not, but I'm just saying that I'm just giving my mind, trying to work out. Okay, okay. So, so not consulted at all. So, you're not gonna ask the guy who knows funny? So the show up and comes in, it looks great. The guys love it. They said we just want some Staten Island icons in there.
Starting point is 00:40:46 We want something in there, right? So Sal asked, so at one point, it frees frames on Sal and you see, I think it was the George Washington Bridge. We are the Brooklyn Bridge. He asked to change to the Verrazana Bridge. We made that change. At the end, they wanted, you see some water. They wanted the Staten Island theory.
Starting point is 00:41:02 We did that. Q requested, there's a frees frame of Q standing at a hot dog vendor, the moment that you see when the show starts. And it freeze frames, and you just see the blue sky behind you. Q wanted a map of stat and ion behind him. Now it's just blue sky, so from a design perspective, it doesn't really make any sense. So I talked to our design team. You see me winning this one, Q, I can see that look. So let's see you winning. All right, so we got to our design team. They didn't, you see me winning this one, Keewe.
Starting point is 00:41:25 I can see that look. So, I don't see you winning this. All right, so. So, talk to our graphics people or design people. You're probably gonna win this one. And they said, they said, listen, we don't have a lot of time to make a lot of changes. We'll change the Arizona Bridge.
Starting point is 00:41:36 I'll change the time. It is a problem. Why? No, no, no, no. Why are we giving, why are we allowed to give input when they are under the gun? I think we have a lot of time. I totally hear you again, not our fight though, right? because I'm even like me at the hotdog stand by the way
Starting point is 00:41:48 But I don't even mention that but I think you're too kind too phallic Well, it's you know, you know, it was a we miss you It's a wrong message. They were just getting over the bad taste of the weir circle What's with this moon? Yeah, and the hot dogs Freeze frame That's being the opening crowd yeah Saying racial slur Yeah, no, I'm glad they didn't go on that
Starting point is 00:42:15 What was we gonna check all this whole thing? And they left it Yeah, I don't think they said mulligan Yeah, I love it So, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so he wants. Well, so Q wants this Staten Island map behind his head. My one request. Which is clinic, which is kind of clunky. It's clinic. It's not very high.
Starting point is 00:42:29 I mean, I know that you love Staten Island. Yeah. I love breaking bads on my favorite shows. I love pizza, but it'd be a little weird if in the opening credits for Breaking Bad, like a slice of pizza just floated by. It just doesn't make any sense to have a map behind your head. What were the opening credits of Breaking Bad? It was just the elements.
Starting point is 00:42:44 The table, the. It was very quick. It was just the the elements the the table the the the it was very quick. It was very quick. Okay. 10 seconds. Fine. I'm still waiting to see why it's funny though. So what happened was No, this is a different one. This is an unresulated issue. I was like, you know, I was like holy shit. I was like, I have to go to fuck. No, no, no. And I was a little mispronodant too, by the way. But yes, yes, yes. Faithful or not? How can Trump was last night? If I could have said that, he thought that that nylon map was going to be funny. Did you believe? Babyface over here.
Starting point is 00:43:14 Because it's like a map. Can get yucks. So we start getting into it on email. Q starts sending emails, talking about how, you know, this is our show, how can we not get what we want. And I said something like- The one request I had, right. And I wrote back something like, you know, listen, we gave you the Verrazano Bridge, we
Starting point is 00:43:37 gave you this, maybe you just can't win them all. And that was not the right thing to say to Q. And then we started getting into it on text. And then my favorite line that Q Taxing me that night there you could fill a book with our text messages that night was Simmy you're shaking a horn. It's nest. That was my favorite There's a lot of alpha dogs in the Joker's huh? Yeah, yeah for them The whole ensemble
Starting point is 00:44:02 Yeah, what do you mean like even behind the scenes are there a lot of alphabets. I don't know. I mean, I think I think I think like a shelter full of the bones. No, I mean, I think honestly, I think it's a great team and everyone really works together well. They're, you know, they're just like that was that was a bump and it was fine. And it would be got past it. But, um, well, I remember like, from my perspective was, this was still, to be fair, in the, in the, in the dog whip days, in the stand, when we were used to just catching shit all the time. Right.
Starting point is 00:44:36 And, and we, like, for instance, the only time we ever threatened to walk off the show was when they promised to put the Twitter handles. You weren't there for this. No one was. You are. Yeah. I was that was one of you. That was one of our fights about the Twitter handles and act for such a stupid little thing. Are you sure? No, no, we're talking about different ones. We're talking about something else. It wasn't for you. Right. It was the Twitter handles in general in general. That was before me. We were we wanted them. We were promised them. Right. And then the premier was coming up and they were saying,
Starting point is 00:45:05 well, we're not going to put them in. You mean like popping up in the grass? When we go on. At the time, we just started touring. So we were like, look, the Twitter is going to help us build the touring. So true had not true. People over there were trying to pull it because what's a hashtag? I mean in 20 years and all this stuff going on.
Starting point is 00:45:26 So they're worried about the rules of joke. You're on top of joke right? It's in 2030. Right, exactly. Exactly. Always thinking ahead. Right. So you're gonna run like the honey motors.
Starting point is 00:45:37 So we had for a new year. So far. So far it is. So we were so the only time that we were able to really the only way we were able to pull that off is just by threatening to walk off the show. We were literally like if it doesn't air next week with the Twitter handlers we're walking off the show with the Twitter handles. We're walking off the show. And that was just before Simmy came.
Starting point is 00:46:09 So that's what I meant by the shaking the horn is this thing because I was like, but I was also in a very bad way. In fairness, I do remember you saying, you're when I said, you can't win them all. You said some like, you know how many times I've lost in this battle with you guys and I was like, wait, this is a new, let's start a new relationship. And that's when that's when things started getting better.
Starting point is 00:46:24 You should come to, if you're ever, you know if it ever turns out, you, you know, you move on, you got a comic book man, there's no alpha dogs, it's all fucking lap dogs. Yeah. Everybody's the Zeta. We just, we just, we just, whatever like, crumb falls down, we, I mean, we'm what's scurrying, trying to put each other out of the way for it, but, you know, it's a slide look, you'll get whatever you want I'll say it. You need to work on a show where people have absolutely no power whatsoever
Starting point is 00:46:54 We don't have a lot of power. We don't I will say I think I think we're about to start season six I think the relationships great and you get an honestly like I would grant I'm telling the truth here Like it's a great team. And the four of them really are great to work with. I mean, we've gotten into it, but that's only because we're both passionate about the show and you know, it always ends in respect. And the last fight wasn't even about that show,
Starting point is 00:47:15 but it was, but so the map one was a little bit like, I was just left over from like just getting it from the network up the ass for fucking two years straight. Like a shrunk from, I'm gonna win this battle too. I'm not gonna win that. You thought he was gonna lose? Yeah, I just said that. I lost the battle or it was a win.
Starting point is 00:47:31 What was the, what did the graphic eventually turn out to be? Just a blue sky. Oh, just a blue sky. It's cute standing there for a hot dog, then you know, cart and then just a blue sky behind him, which makes sense. This one's making a lot worse. So it wasn't like a big-ange mural or something?
Starting point is 00:47:45 No, no, no, no. And then, and then, but do you remember what broke the argument on the phone on that one? Yeah. No. Because you got upset that I was cursing to you now. No, that is what happened.
Starting point is 00:47:58 There's no way I got, oh, dude, if you were like, fuck you, I might have been. No, no, no, no, no, I was like, fuck this, fuck that, you know how long I get angry, blah, blah blah no I would never I would never my anger Yeah, I go fuck yourself, but you had said something to me like stop would you just fucking stop cursing? It's not like that and then I was like oh fuck I am cursing a lot and then I was like I was like I'm sorry Sam I was like it's a fucking firehouse talk like I get angry we all curse at each other and the fucking and you were like No, I'm not even the you go look. I'm'm not saying I'm not a man, I can't take it. You were just cursing a lot.
Starting point is 00:48:28 And then that sort of broke the argument and moved on. Yeah. So you didn't want to be viewed as like a lady having delicate sensibilities. Exactly. If you have any psychology of courses and backgrounds? My wife's a psychologist, so I... You must talk to her about Q-Oltra. I do,.I.D.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T.E.E.L.A.T.E.L.A.T. I've heard stories and I wouldn't have thought it at first but it's time it has gone on. I guess I can't imagine it. Sal being sort of a diva.
Starting point is 00:49:09 Sal is very diva, sure. I don't know, Q, you'd know better than me. Nobody wants to commit. Sal is very particular. He likes things his way and if he does not, he's alright when he doesn't get his way. So I'm trying to, I'm not trying to be delicate, I'm trying to word it in a way that it's understood.
Starting point is 00:49:32 Like if Sal feel he feels he's right, you're wrong. Right. No matter what. There's no margin of error. There's zero margin of error. And that's when dealing with everybody on the show show that's what you have to deal with with Sal If he's late if he's two hours late to set And you display annoyance about it your just as bad as the traffic that made him get late does that make sense?
Starting point is 00:49:57 Like there's no part of him that's just like oh man. I held up. I'm sorry It was like well, what the fuck did you want me to do? I mean, that sounds leave earlier. You can't say that's a sound. Yeah, that you can't say the sound. So that that sounds Pick a little. I'll say I mean one thing that's always impressed me is that you guys like it seems like I don't know Maybe this is just on the surface, but it seems like the four of you like put out Fires in terms of fights amongst the four of you very quickly very quickly, you quickly. You know, you guys spend so much time together the four of you. And I've seen moments where you guys sort of snip at each other and then it just quickly diffuses and I've always been impressed by that. Yeah, it's a hassle.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Yeah, the fuck else you're going to do? Yeah, but you look at how many bands have broken up. You know, people spend too much time together and I feel like you guys have been able to make it work. Yeah, it's been pretty good. It's actually, actually, we, I would say right now is the best We've been in three years. It's great. Like we've we've really kind of we sat down we had like a Like a metallic a some kind of monster Sit your wife came in to the media. No, not not with anything like that
Starting point is 00:50:58 Just like the former sat down and like open the floodgates in terms of down and like open the floodgates in terms of frustrations and and hashed everything out. Was it the trust tree like anyone could say anything they wanted or yes, you think people held back? No, buddy. I can guarantee you nobody fucking out back. Yeah, but it we walked away from it a stronger tighter unit Maybe that's what we should do. We get a season seven We have a some kind of monster thing and we are we in need of one. I thought we were I thought everybody's on a good I mean just go after Mike and Ming has any disease and is an excuse but has a different from everything That's an episode why would you waste that off camera? That's true. Yeah So Joe's the most reasonable
Starting point is 00:51:42 Hugh maybe well Joe's but you know it all goes in waves like there are times where Joe's reasonable other times or Joe's not reasonable And same thing same thing with it. I feel like it just depends on how emotional you guys are about what yeah, yeah, topic at hand Because anyone tried to like push any agendas That's what happens with shows like people get like like I know Joe's into like the anti-bullying thing Yeah, I mean I haven't seen that on the show, like I know Joe's into like the anti-bullying thing. Yeah, but I haven't seen that on the show, but I know like they've asked us to not wear 10-line shirts. They've asked us not to wear tele-mustive Dave shirts, but we've just ignored it. I know tele-mustive Dave shirt.
Starting point is 00:52:18 I think it was just hate the show. It was that? We just hate it. Yeah, no, I think it was because it was it wasn't you wasn't exactly the ads department that like well why are we selling ads? If you guys are advertising your own stuff for free it was like this all the time we just ignoring it in one away for the most part for the most part that I want you to dream to work with these days. Yeah, it really is. It kind of makes for a boring podcast interview. But yeah, but but honestly there's not a lot of drama between us. I mean, I feel like the truth is we we We don't
Starting point is 00:52:48 Ask them to stop sort of pushing that stuff We if you want to do something about the firehouse. We'd love to do some firehouse because it's the show is them I mean, it's really it really is who they are So if it's all maps aside exactly Non-surgical statin island graphics like do you look back and think, oh god, why was that? No, I still deep inside. You're hoping in a next leg of season coming up. No, I've given up.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Now and now I just... Season seven, we're just gonna have a big statin island map over your face. Have you okay with that? I've here. I mean, they do, like, they miss no opportunity to let the viewer know that they love statin island. Oh, yeah, they're from Staten Island shoving Staten Island down your throat. Yeah, buddy cares right
Starting point is 00:53:34 And all for you, right? I mean, if you like all four of you are pretty passionate. Yeah, well, yeah Well, cuz it gets such a bad rap Mm-hmm. Is it a challenge out going in the season six to pull off Challenges and not have everybody know who the fuck they are there. Yeah, it's kind of amazing that like that more people Don't in those moments and we oh people ask about that all the time people in Twitter were asking about that today It's just I think part of it I've talked to Pete McParlane who's the showrunner I would talk about this all the time that it seems like part of it's the fact that if you watch the show
Starting point is 00:54:01 They go one at a time right they're usually not all four of them out there. So enough Q's shopping, you know, if he's in the, you know, the produce section of fairway and even if you know the show, it might take you a little while to realize that it's him as opposed to seeing all four of them together. So they add a context, some people don't, they just don't pick up on it.
Starting point is 00:54:19 I don't know, there's something about New York that people just don't seem to care. It's, it's, it's, 80,000,000 people on it. Seven mile island, it's like 17 mile, how long has it been in? Pretty long. Anyway, we get in the other stuff later. What do you want to do on a pitch show?
Starting point is 00:54:36 I don't know if I could do it now. Because Jimmy's Jewish? You can't pick to a Jewish. Are you the kind of Jewish person that you won't turn on a light on Saturdays Or I'll do that I actually wouldn't but that doesn't it is that preclude you guys from pitching a show about Using electricity on Shabbat Because my brother-in-law he works for a cable company Uh-huh, and if he said that there's a certain
Starting point is 00:54:56 Certain people will call him you like my TV doesn't work. Yeah, haven't come out and the hope turns you gonna Guess it works. I was like oh, okay. Yeah. Oh, yeah, and they're like they's called a Shabbos-goi They find ways What is it called TV being a Shabbos Goy. They find ways to go. What is it called? It's called TV. Shabbos Goy. Goy is a non-Jew. And Shabbos Shabbat is like the,
Starting point is 00:55:11 the Jewish Sabbath. So it's like a non-Jew who can, some people, I mean, I wouldn't do this. But some people, you know, we'll find someone who is in Jewish, who lives in the apartment next door and asks them to turn on the light or turn on the light. That's what I've heard.
Starting point is 00:55:21 But there's a work around. Yeah, there's a lot of loopholes in the show. The practical trickers is on, man, how the fuck am I gonna watch? You gotta get it. It's a joy to come over. It's not, it's probably frowned upon in Judaism. I wouldn't do that if we need it. Everyone has different levels of observing,
Starting point is 00:55:36 you know, different religions for us. I mean, if, you know, if the lights off and we need it on, I'd just turn it on, but I, we generally speaking, try not to and try to have a bye-bye. I wouldn't even put on all the time, generally speaking try not to and try to buy that. I'm on all the time. That's what you guys must you're making. Oh, I'm wrong.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Life is a psychologist. I mean, why would you have to turn a light off ever? Rowan and we just keep lights on all the time. Right. Yeah. I guess the only fear would be the light bulb of burnout. Well, I have Alexa that I go Alexa. All lights on lights.
Starting point is 00:56:01 Come on. Would you be allowed to do that? Why? That would still what? Like, you know, the the Amazon voice assistant oh yeah my lights are hooked up to hard so if I go Alexa lights on the lights I'm doing it yeah I think I'll be sure you know I'm really exactly because you're right you're you're initiating the the spark I guess and that's just Saturday yeah it's Friday night and Saturday it's it's from sundown on Friday until an hour after sundown
Starting point is 00:56:27 and Saturday every week. And then the tourist is nothing about Alexa, there's no mention. It doesn't mention Alexa or the clapper, anything else. So life is actually a little easier for you on Saturdays in the winter. It slows down, yeah. Because it's darker for a clock.
Starting point is 00:56:41 Yeah, exactly. Well, I mean, it's stressful leaving work because like if we have like a deadline to meet and it's three o'clock, I just got to get out of there because I, you know, that's one thing I won't mess with. Like I'm definitely home by that time. I guess you had a worker early. Yeah, I'm with you.
Starting point is 00:56:52 Exactly. Oh my goodness. You should, I mean, imagine not using your iPhone for 25 hours. It's pretty great. I mean, it's, there's a family, like I, like I married, we got three kids and it's nice to know that every Friday night, no matter what. And when I have crazy my life is, I'm going to be sitting there with them and it's nice to know that every Friday night no matter what. And when my heart crazed in my life is, I'm gonna be sitting there with them and it's gonna be quiet.
Starting point is 00:57:08 So there's definitely some nice things about it. You guys are thinking about it, huh? I'm thinking about it. It's pretty nice. Yeah, but the TV is not on, though. Well, then you gotta talk to each other. Yeah, so there's the... You're staying Christian.
Starting point is 00:57:21 There's the run. Well, I mean, no, I think, but like, after everybody goes to goes to bed though, like, you know, then you're like, well, you're kind of bored. Yeah, I'm like, oh my god. Yeah, I would like to TV on Thursday night and make sure to stay, you know. Yeah, I mean, I'm a big Mets fan, so I've missed some major moments in that.
Starting point is 00:57:33 Oh, with the world series, that was, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So, you know, that's where, Could you like, you can like handle? You can, yeah, I mean, you're, you know, I'm, God, and might leave a TV on in the basement. That sort of thing, and just haven't walked by. So, that is, like, who?
Starting point is 00:57:46 Oh, God, did I leave that on again? That's got to be like, you're some major league cheating, all right? Yeah. I mean, it's all, again, it's all in the loopholes. If you're not technically turning it on, but people would say, it's not the spirit of the set. You have like a sort of like what Christianity has,
Starting point is 00:58:00 like a confession, would you have like a rabbi you confess to? Like I left a TV on purpose. No. No, I just, you know. So left a TV on purpose. No. He was on. No, I just, you know. So there's no repercussions. Yeah, it's more just between you and the men upstairs, I guess. But could you, could you set a timer to go on?
Starting point is 00:58:15 You could, you could. It's, so it's, people do that. And people put, you know, we set timers on our lights in the house, that's our thing. That makes sense, okay. But it's, it's. Well, could you also have kids, the safety is concerned. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:58:26 So if it's safety related, like I will use, like for instance, we have a house, we have an alarm on the house, like on Shabbat, I'll set the alarm, even though it's electricity, just because it's, you know, it's for safety, that's what I think. So again, everyone does a case by case.
Starting point is 00:58:40 And you've always been religious since you were young. Yeah, since I'm a kid. Yes, it's always been the same the same level pretty much And there's there's people you know, there plenty of religious Jewish people who would listen to this and say like oh He's you know, he's not religious he does this and there are other people who would say oh he's crazy religious because he does that So it's just it just various wait judgmental religious people. No, no So you don't feel comfortable Hey you you can I believe in her not. So you don't feel comfortable pitching. I'm a big blind right? You can, I got my own stuff here.
Starting point is 00:59:07 You can comedy, I mean. I'm a, I'm, I'm, I work at a comedy network. If you got a comedy show in the kitchen, Brian said come up with, let's say, what was the scenario? Like, I said, one of the jokers passes away. And we need to fill the roster. We had that, we remember with the gator punishment, we had those conversations.
Starting point is 00:59:23 That's right, there was a conversation if I died. What would they do? We literally we had I was on calls with our legal team because we had a punishment for cute let off season three in Miami where he where he had to wrestle a backpack off of an alligator. And we had conversations with our legal team and they they on the call they were like, okay, so if Q gets eaten by the alligator, and what are we going gonna do? Like legitimate questions. I mean, the question really is the show can never survive if they die on screen. Like Twilight Zone.
Starting point is 00:59:51 Oh, they were so much better. But we just wouldn't care that one. Okay, keep going. But like, he was saying, we would pitch, we would make a play to fill that roster spot. If you're using the remaining three guys, so I die. Who would not you or what? Well, let's go with me because it's funny of that way so I die and then you're pitching shows that the other three guys can do Well, just to take that time slot. We're gonna come in with the Joker. We're gonna try to fill your oh
Starting point is 01:00:15 Okay, all right boy left behind like this these are ideas that like I would come with that I'd be like hey guys I'm the new Joker. Oh, you're my, cause you guys come up with ideas, right? Right. It's not all that Casey Joes character, right? Right. I can't imagine that. Okay. All right, so you have, okay, so.
Starting point is 01:00:31 Tential Joker. Bits. Challenges. If he says that he's any uses any of them, and you use any of them. Yeah, we might be in some believable problems there. It'll be, I'm just throwing some, just don't check.
Starting point is 01:00:41 Yeah, like something you're sure to something. All right, so. Like an old weiner circle shirt that did itself. All right, sounds like a little weiner circle shirt that didn't sell. All right, so you can't have any, how many bits did you go on with? Oh, no, the whole book is, I just made three. I thought three would be, three would be good. This is good, because this is what we do with Sammy.
Starting point is 01:00:54 Yeah, let's do it. Okay, so I come in and I'm like, all right guys, we're gonna do a show where each of us has to man like a suicide hotline. Yeah, people call in and like we're going to say to Sal, like somebody calls in and they're like, Hey, my I'm really down, man. Life is dark like my six-year-old just died of leukemia. And Sal has to keep saying, I know how you feel and then come up with like then you give him something like I know how you feel, but something that's not even on par with like so it's like I know I got stuck in traffic where I have out or like
Starting point is 01:01:29 he's like um he's the the the the woman's like oh my my kid diolochemia and sells like I know exactly how you feel I was at the Starbucks and some tweens when they could fun on my muffin top you know like something like something like that right? they could funnel my muffin top. You know, like something like something like that, right? Oh, you know, speaking of somebody works at a comedy network, you had me at, you had me at my son, died of leukemia. And, you know, you could just feed the inappropriate stuff
Starting point is 01:01:56 and whoever gets to the person is the on the line the longest without hanging out because they would win, right? Well, you wanna take these one by one severe, yeah? Oh, I don't know. I can't get better than that. No, you might be able to. But you know that's not gonna go.
Starting point is 01:02:11 No? Was that the idea for the whole series? Is it you guys just answering a series? That's just one bit. No one's, you don't know for sure if someone's gonna call up and say that about their child. Yeah, I mean, it's got a couple other problems. That's one of them.
Starting point is 01:02:22 Yeah. No, but you don't know that that's going to be someone's going to actually call and say that's why they're calling the hub. Right. Yeah, but it could be something that could be something else incredibly depressing. It could be something like I broke up my girlfriend. Uh-huh. It may not be that heavy. They're reaching out to help though. And you're and you're trying to one up them what lame ass shit. Yeah. Yeah, that's Brian's scenario. Right. Sounds like that's where he's going. Okay. All right. Well, I don't think that one's going to fly. You don't like that one? Okay. Yeah. One is there's no camera on the suicidal parts. And so you don't get to see them kill themselves.
Starting point is 01:02:56 If they do. Yeah. You do it on Skype. Do you Skype suicide? Yeah. Oh, I don't know, but I bet you see a lot of hot tattoos, if you do. Battle like older, lonely guys. Do you have tattoos? You don't have tattoos. Are you not allowed? I think you're not supposed to. It's not my thing anyway. I have low tolerance of pain.
Starting point is 01:03:16 In the cemetery, you have tattoos. I don't know if they, I think they, again, loop holes. I think they're- One of my best friends is Jewish, he said that to me. Oh yeah? Sunday Jeff. Sunday Jeff. Oh, interesting. Yeah, I think they're like one of my best friends is Jewish. He said that to me. Oh, yeah, Sunday Jeff I'm just saying yeah, yeah, it's not my thing though. Yeah, but Sunday Jeff He's not he's not yeah, he's not as a practice. He doesn't practice like he turned shit on right and left I don't know. Yeah, he's he turned to TV radio like you know, he was supposed to drive a car right yeah
Starting point is 01:03:43 No, he worked a drive How old are the car, right? Yeah, no, he works outside. Yeah. How old are the kids? My kids? Yeah, pretty young, right? 85 and 2. So, are they still in the phase where they're not rebelling against that yet?
Starting point is 01:03:54 Not yet. Now, you see that color. I think what worries me is growing up, like, we didn't have iPhones. But the notion of, for us, it was a matter of, like, you can't pick up the phone. You can't take the phone off the wall and make a call. But now, it's like, your whole life is your phone. So, yeah, I think that's going to be hard to, it's going to be hard
Starting point is 01:04:10 battle. They have a lot of friends who also do this on Saturday or a lot of friends who don't do this. Both, you know, they have both. Again, it's really just my, your old, my, you know, five-realm-two-year-old or, you know, too young for it. So when we get into the future where they're like putting chips inside your eyes. Right. And stuff like that. It's going to be for it. So when we get into the future where they're like putting chips inside your eyes. Right. And stuff like that. It's going to be some issues.
Starting point is 01:04:28 Already, when we deal with it in hotels, because hotel rooms are really key, it's all key cards, right? So that's all electronic. So that's a good example of people who are much more religious than I am. Just keep it open. They'll just leave and they'll leave the latch open and just hope for the best.
Starting point is 01:04:45 So the key is to find out where those people are staying and then take all the show. Wow. But for us, if we're away on the Sabbath and we'll just, we'll use the key card. Because again, there's no way around this. Yeah, and other people will say, well, there's a way around it,
Starting point is 01:04:58 but we just don't think it's a smart way, yeah. So it's those kinds of things that I think are gonna get harder in the future for sure. I feel like we're sort of steering away. Yeah, let's get back to suicide. This next one, this would be like a joke around joker challenges. Now what they call it? Yes, that's when that's when only two of us go. Right. So two of you are on a, say, a Salon Joe, right?
Starting point is 01:05:23 Or in a bathroom stall together. And there's a glory hole. Some guy comes on the other side. I feel like I'm taking this. I'm serious. You're the one that came up with this. All right. On the other side.
Starting point is 01:05:37 So it's like how what's his name? Uh, uh, candy camera did the naked candy camera. This could be Joker's after dark. Right. Okay. Right. All right. And they're in a bar where like a glory hole This could be Joker's after dark. Right. Right. And they're in a bar where like a glory hole wouldn't be like shocking, right? Right.
Starting point is 01:05:50 So what you guys have to do is like remember like when you went to the mall and you're like which one of us is worse looking or whatever. It would be like that. Like you would undermine each other's blow job skills. What? We actually got a blow people? Well, no, it ends when it comes through. Like he's like, I picked that guy and then it comes through. You can make the case for why our glory
Starting point is 01:06:11 holds should be the one that's penetrated. Why? Yeah. They're side by side. I mean, Jimmy, you want to feel this one? Sure. I didn't think I'd say this, but we go back to suicide, how much? I got one more. This is a punishment. You have to go into a grocery store, like in a house, like at cost-cours, something they give away like a Yannis sausage or whatever, little samples. One of the guys has to set up in like a highly ethnic neighborhood, and they're promoting a new bleach called white power.
Starting point is 01:06:46 And they have to. And they have to try to get someone to buy. So you go to, so what is the idea that you're trying to do here, Brian? You're trying to make it so you would never pitch to me again. Like how is, how is this making me eager to work with you on a future?
Starting point is 01:07:06 On a future? And you'd be like, oh, he was just kidding around. It was a weren't real ideas. So you got that. He's got Hitler. He's got any symmetric stuff. At least mine's just like that. No, it's not.
Starting point is 01:07:17 That third one sounds like the kind of stuff we've actually done on the show. We've done white power. What we do? In a black neighbor list. Well, maybe not quite that far. You could say that to a white person to see how they react. But we've sometimes pushed the line a little bit. He wants to squash it. Yeah, I said when I first heard that right there,
Starting point is 01:07:38 it's like that to me sounds like it would be a gag because it's you know, it brings up all the uncomfortableness. Uh huh. The guys having to like, to like you know kind of like ten they don't understand the connotation of the of the brand Sure and like you know having to play the oblivious Joker, what about this cute takes place in statin island now anything. Okay. That's good Sounded better. I mean I don't even think anyone would look sideways Yeah, I know They really cool. I'll take some. So, all right, so you think that we can get that
Starting point is 01:08:08 white power, Joe. White power bleached throat. No, I don't. Okay. I did just to be clear for jokers after dark. I think it's, I think it's, I think it's, of the three, it was the one that, that, yeah, but it's still feel a little far away.
Starting point is 01:08:22 Little off, off brand. I had an alternate and practical coroners. Okay. What do you pretend you're a coroner and you have like an eye when you have students around? Why? And the guys tell you to say stuff to the corpse or you, or you claim the corpse is your mom.
Starting point is 01:08:39 The cadaver. Could we get away with a fake corpse on the neitha thing? Or do you have to see the corpse? You would want to see a little bit of it. Because they're not going to have a sheet of it. They're not going to like show a corpse. Even like a walking dead looking corpse. They look good.
Starting point is 01:08:59 Yeah, but then you... What do you mean? Oh, like a... Made up, make up. Yeah, just make up. Oh, I don't know, Sim. Could we do that? Maybe. So how to play out exactly? What do you mean? Oh like made up make up make up make up. Oh, I don't know some could we do that maybe
Starting point is 01:09:07 So how to how to plan exactly so we're teaching a court where the professors in an autopsy course. Yeah, like say like a Quantico. Yes You're done in the quarter. I mean, I fought like a local All right, CSI has a Cosmone has a mortician's course. And then we have a fake dead body set or even better, one of the jokers is the body on the table.
Starting point is 01:09:35 Shenanigans and Sue. Can we get away with that? Yeah, I can see, I mean, it's a little like we did a CPR bit, right? A few years ago, it was a little more morbid, but you could probably do something in a coroner's office. I don't know about the Joker being the corpse because that's more of like jump out and
Starting point is 01:09:50 yell boo. It doesn't seem like our show so much, right? You should be able to deal with, what it does with all these jokes. Sorry, you know what, you know funny. Let's just do a kick. I gave you four solid fucking bits. Alright, what are you have to get? I mean, I just stay on comic book and flicking.
Starting point is 01:10:08 You gotta hit me up with something. Don't worry, the fact that I'm Jewish. Alright, no, it's not bad in that way, but it does now. Your sound like you're hard to please. I mean, because I didn't say yes to the suicide hotline comedy hour. That makes me tough. This idea spun out of Brian asked me to come up with in practical Joker scenario.
Starting point is 01:10:33 And I was trying to come up with something where like, you guys were given high colonics, but I couldn't figure it out. And then something else, I had this other idea of a show based kind of like on practical jokers, but each week it's a different it's a different contestant pool. And the challenges are always the same, but oh, they're just twists on them. And it could be produced by the jokers. It could be like from, you know, in practical jokers, Bruce is showing it was I'm taking the name from an old bit we did on tell Steve Dave called are you Worston Hitler?
Starting point is 01:11:07 Okay. So it would be a challenge based game show where a pool of five new players every week are given a series of four tests to complete until four players are eliminated and one person remains to become, you know, the champion of that episode. Does that person have to prove that they're worse than that? Well, these are the 12 fucking orders. Well, to Nemo, we're obviously, we're just using the title, because you've heard that phrase, are you worse than that? Yeah, I'm familiar with the phrase.
Starting point is 01:11:36 I've heard of this guy. Is it anything to do with what the show is though? Well, it sure we're going into here. Sure. If the producers, which would would be you, sure, when you take this on, feel the show works better if everyone but the contestants are in on the joke. I'm open to that too. Like, so like we just the contestants, I'm glad that you're flexible. The contestants, it's like much of an icy wolf screaming in a phone. Poor semi.
Starting point is 01:12:02 It's like much more noisy, well screaming than a phone. Of course, Jimmy. You're all wise, I'm a little swastika, man. That's coming up in the dirt. If you're hiding or nothing. You know what I'm saying? Like the contestants think they're going out in the real world and trolling, you know, like, like, what the guys do. Yeah, but it's really over there.
Starting point is 01:12:17 It's reversed, so they are going out. And the, but they, but everybody's in on the joke. You just get higher actors or anything. We have a show that's a lot like that actually. I'm true A family's famous. Yeah. Oh, you're just doing ideas and wait a minute I don't know if a famous has done this one yet. So every week these are the famous mention it work They work in a hotdog joint Chicago Estulate. Uh-huh challenge one would be called the Are You Worst and Bernie Made-Off Challenge.
Starting point is 01:12:45 Okay. Where in every week that challenge is based on scamming. Mm-hmm. So the first week could be you had a scam, retirement village, you had to go door to door, and use your skills in scamming them. And whoever scams the least gets eliminated. Okay.
Starting point is 01:13:03 And the old people that they're scamming are real people? It could be. It could be. Okay, so this is where you're flexible. The old people could be in on it or. Or we could go cold and you just really go into a retirement community and see what you're at. I'm trying to take advantage of seeing you.
Starting point is 01:13:17 You're giving the money back at the end. That's kind of you. And they're doing it. It's so free game though. And after, you know, after they've given over, let's say they're like savings, you could be like, thank God, I also help them out. Like, don't be so gullible. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 01:13:30 What the fuck's the matter with you, asshole? Um, so that's the burning made off challenge. That's challenge one. We eliminate the person who doesn't get the most, whoever gets the least amount of scamming money is eliminated. And then there were four standing. And then we go into, um, are you worse than Jared from subway challenge? Oh yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:55 Are you worse than Jared from subway challenge? Every week this challenge is child predator theme. Uh-huh, sure. So let's say in the premier episode we get one contestant, where all the contestants have to go into a Parker playground, dressed oddly quote unquote, where they have thick cook bottle glasses, dirty stained t-shirt, super tight sweatpants, and they must ask and receive permission from parents to take photos of his or her child on the playground.
Starting point is 01:14:22 I'm awfully familiar with describing what this person looks like. Well, he picked me up to come here today. Okay, testing who gets the least amount of photos is eliminated. So then we're three. What a loser. Suddenly my ideas seem good. Yeah, challenging and then go to the third challenge. Brian, you got anything else on it?
Starting point is 01:14:42 Are you worse than Osama bin Laden challenge? Uh-huh. Every week this challenge is terror sympathizer themed. Okay. Week one content on the premiere episode, you have you always have to change the challenge, but always be this theme. So every week you know what the themes are. Contestants, let's go door to door or go to a university dressed in Middle Eastern attire and ask for donations for Americans for ISIS foundation. Every guest the least amount of donations is eliminated.
Starting point is 01:15:08 So whoever wins the game, whoever wins at the end of the episode gets sent away to a super max prison. Is that the idea? No, none of these people, I mean these are all done. Right. It's tastefully done. This is like who will go, this is a mirror turned on society. Sometimes we see the people who are good
Starting point is 01:15:25 Mm-hmm, and then we see sometimes people who will donate or who will how far will they go to win the prize? Yeah, I'm sure it will sign a release Everyone's face is blurred and every episode so then there's then there are two standing So this is the final challenge which we get to always the final challenges. Are you worse than Hitler challenge? Sure and the final challenge is always Nazi based You can't hear that enough in a pitch The final but no not just not just in the pilot every episode the final one is not TV There was a great great Hitler bit and impractical
Starting point is 01:16:02 One of my favorite ones ever when you guys were acting as caricature artists And there were people sitting on the side of the drawing. Hitler reading a banana. Yeah It was Joe was sitting there drawing a picture of a girl and then at the show chart it was Hitler reading a banana But do you remember the network notes on that? Wait, where you want my time now is before the note on that was we can't say Hitler We it was it wasn't a reading a banner. It was a dictator reading them. Oh, interesting. Because it now worked. You don't want us to say Hitler. One of those other dictators of the small mustache. Yeah. So you got to think of an entirely new name. I don't think this could ever hurt. I think don't you think that this was a web-based series?
Starting point is 01:16:36 It would be in me. It would be the talk for maybe for like a month or two. Yeah, I can't see a single flow of this idea. I think it's perfect. Let's just go right. Put it right on TV. No, no. You're saying dual web series, because you can do anything you want. Yeah, but I think it would, I think it would set the internet ablaze. True.
Starting point is 01:16:52 You had people who were really, like these five contestants were really willing to go and say these things. And if they were in, if they weren't in on the joke, how far are they willing to go to win? How far, how worse are they willing to go to win? How far, how worse are they willing to be to get the prize money? How much is the prize money that you got?
Starting point is 01:17:11 $100,000. Perhaps so. Perhaps so. That's easy, right? Well, truth to cowardly to take on this idea. Yeah, I think lots for sure. But just like the Joker, you know, how you are, they are fed lines. Uh-huh. Let's say the Nazi based challenge. Sure. You have to go to your maybe your, you set up a family of all actors, kids, and you have to, the two lit remaining contestants are vying for this, this is the, this is the Nazi theme challenge.
Starting point is 01:17:38 You have to go in, maybe dressed as a Nazi party clown, right? And you have like Jerry Lewis in that movie. Oh, no, you're just, you have, you're definitely there's no doubt about it you walk into the house you go step into the house you got your clown makeup on maybe you got some you got swastika around your eyes like you you get five desperate people who want to be on TV who are willing to do it for the prize money they think is there I? I Think this would come out like bump fights where people are like
Starting point is 01:18:09 Bump fights for like a month. Yeah, but then everybody hated everybody to do with bump fights It's like deplorable like people was just like fuck those guys like what about we tried to watch bump fights We couldn't get through it. What was but where was Bum Fight? Oh, you don't remember Bum Fight? So it was like early 2000s. No, I think it was late, yeah, you're probably late. Bum Fight was, you could order a DVD of people who would pay Bums to fight each other. Then we'd just go in alleyways and like cock fighting, which is a nice thing.
Starting point is 01:18:37 Yeah, we would videotape and then sell a DVD. Oh God. And then, my goal was to do it on DVD, it was a tape. Yeah, and they had, it's probably late was even on DVD. It was a tape Steve Irwin was still alive and they had the bum hunter I mean I'm gonna be fucking crazy in between the more career Cochifieds they would have this guy called the bum hunter who dress like Steve Irwin Do you know you know? He dressed like Steve Irwin and he put on a fake Australian accent
Starting point is 01:19:06 Yeah, the bum hunter sounds like a porn and he would and he would go into abandoned villains and late and alleyways. Yeah Bums would be sleeping Almost Almost people would be sleeping and suddenly they'd flick on that light and then and it was all real Yeah, and you would just see the bombs go like they would be terrified and then they flick on that light and then it was all real. Yeah. And you would just see the bombs go like they would be terrified. And then this guy would leap on it. Yeah. And like, they were crocodiles and tie them up. Like, tie their hands behind their fucking arms. They probably thought they're going to kill the
Starting point is 01:19:40 lives. I mean, it was. And like like almost to the one, almost to the bum, they would like, they would just get some misamom and just stop fighting. And then the guy was saying that after they would trust me, like, now look here, we got this bum. And then we make up a fake history of the bum. And then there was just cut to a bum cock fight.
Starting point is 01:20:00 My God, it's gotta be on YouTube, right? I gotta check. It made millions of homes. How much did it make? Oh, so much more. Well, how come much more how come well I said so you don't think this could set the But I think they lost it all lawsuits lawsuits how fat doll actors and we get the falling the five contest because it's a We're showing them they're turning like we're showing them how solace they are and how and you know teaching lessons like man Don't always just look for money and fame seems a little heavy for us us. Don't push. Don't sell your soul or sell your, what's it called your, you know, your, your, your evil spirit, just for a quick buck, you know.
Starting point is 01:20:36 Yeah, but don't you think that Nazi imagery is going to, but that's why you can't, but you can't call it all your worst in Hitler then. And that is, that is a phrase that's, that's why you can't call it all your worst and Hitler and that is that is a phrase that's that's bandied about a lot and also says like you know like I said in my first set it i mean you really shouldn't be using that phrase because there's nothing worse than Hitler let's take it out of the lexicon using this game show which would be like tell them steve davis first original web series
Starting point is 01:21:04 right Which would be like tell them Steve Dave's first original web series right? Setting the bar pretty high If Ming starts acting in this manner you're not gonna get another season of a combo, man. That could ultimately be. But if we get a bunch of, but if we get bum hunter money for that month, we can retire on it. Yeah, that's bum hunter fuck you money. I don't know, but like, but why is it so horrible though if it's, if the only people who were in on it are the contestants though and It's almost like a social commentary though
Starting point is 01:21:54 Because you're having a children's party with a Nazi clown, but everybody's in on it though except the contestants So you're giving them the you they have to read spew this vitriol this horrible vitriol as the Nazi clown and they don't and they're like are they torn? Are they gonna do it are they just like you guys like are you gonna say this? It's not as bad as this but are they are they willing to say like they have index cards They don't know what they are and they're the most like Racist ugly things ever right and they have to say it's in the course of their clown act and if they can't do it If they blink and they're like I can't do it then they then you know they lose and if they and if they're like, I can't do it. Then they lose. And if they do it, then they win. And then they find out that they're all... But if they do, but it was like, well, it really shows they win. But the only three words.
Starting point is 01:22:30 The family was all in on it anyway. Their actors paid to do it. But is like, is the reveal like a laughing good time? To who? Is it uncomfortable? Is it uncomfortable comedy? A la, the office, I love like, isn't it all like watching them squirm and be like, oh my god, can I say these things?
Starting point is 01:22:52 Can I do this? Well, obviously a little different because it was scripted. I feel like if Michael Scott walked in and a Hitler costume. At least it was a writer who came up with an actual person walking into like a nursing home and stealing money. I feel like for a hundred, for the possible of a hundred grand. Dude, I feel like funerals with a Z maybe are on the other side. We've got one more. We were refining it the other day.
Starting point is 01:23:25 I know. I knew I shouldn't have pitched it. No, I think it was going to be a tough room. It's a tough room. I know funny. Holy shit. But I mean, it's all about using, it's all about also like showing people like... Yeah. Don't use these phrases because... You might want $100,000 to do
Starting point is 01:23:52 I didn't think about that you're really giving a hundred thousand hours to the worst piece of shit I'm gonna have to be the most like him there but you know that but you also gonna sympathize with them like you wanted the crap you want to be like Sympathizes? No, because they know they're not you know they're not not these sympathizers. You know they're not Terrorist sympathizers. You know they're not child predators. They just they just have it in there They're thrown into the mix and they're like holy shit. I got to do this right on wind What am I willing to do to win this? Am I willing to sell out on everything I believe in or not? See, all right. Now that is a great log line, right? For a show. Yeah. If you strip everything
Starting point is 01:24:31 else away, yeah. It just feels like it just feels like every other detail. It feels like the examples that you've come up with are not the most sellable, but the idea is sellable. Look at you of like, I I know right? Correct me if I'm wrong. No, no like the idea that log ones a good one of like what are people willing to sell out? What ideals they're willing to sell out for money, but I just think this probably Better examples then you don't think that it's you don't think that like having to like try to be like the Reactions are hysterical. Well, they're not because you're saying that they're faked. Well, we can go with people who are unaware, but I think then you're really... Oh, okay. So you could send somebody as Hitler going into an actual Jewish family and seeing
Starting point is 01:25:15 how that works. Is that the idea? Yeah. It's a Jewish... That one you can never, you can never have someone... Don't be insensitive, Jimmy. That's really sick. I don't know what I was thinking guys. I don't know if I'm... That one, the clown one has to be...
Starting point is 01:25:31 That has to be set up where only the contestants are oblivious what's going on. Yeah. But then... And it's just, it's a mirror, like you shine like, oh... I've never mentioned you had that. What did I... What cost did I win?
Starting point is 01:25:45 Hmm. See you have to live with yourself in your $100,000 in cash. But everyone's like what a piece of shit. At least I got 100 great. After taxes, 50. Oh, make it something more and more digestible. Like 10 million? No, let's make it, let's make it 10,000.
Starting point is 01:26:00 Uh-huh. That's not a lot. I thought you were going to adjust to create. Yeah exactly. Because I got to create a Yeah exactly I don't want to be a monster. Forget what I said before. Well, I'll text her.
Starting point is 01:26:09 Make the money less. But even like, you know what the, I know like terrorism is a, is a, is a important issue. It's in right now. But like, if you go, if you go up and you don't think like, oh, it has to be like, hey, I'm, I'm trying to get donations for America's for, for ISIS. Right.
Starting point is 01:26:24 And you have to like sell it and you're like, can I get a dollar? Can I get a dollar? You have only one reaction. The reactions are gonna be great. That's where the, that's the humor. That's where you're like, are you kidding me? No, I don't know. You're gonna get people who just kind of look horrified
Starting point is 01:26:37 and say no thanks and then I shouldn't walk away. I feel like that's the thing with Joker's is that it's more, I think the absurdity is what makes Joker, you know, you have, I don't know, if it's that that heavy I just kind of feel like someone soliciting for I just takes a real risk of like eating yes that's right then everybody in the park is in and they have to like they have to like like I have to chase the Parker look at him. That'd be amazing. I watched that. I watched it. All right.
Starting point is 01:27:12 What about this? Funerals with a Z. This is our last shot. So do you take pitches that I'm not working on? I mean, I like this, but yeah. So I didn't even know that about you. I didn't know you took pictures. So you, like somebody's agent will set up a meeting with true. And how do they pick you to go into,
Starting point is 01:27:38 because it's not just you, there's a team. So which ones get assigned? So it depends on, so often they go through the vice president the VP So I'm an executive producer so angel for instance is my boss And she's a VP so she has you know She's worked with the VP level usually they work more with the managers in the agents so they they Depending on who those agents and managers have relationship with all Senate to different people sometimes a Pitch will come in through Marissa, right, and she'll just say oh, I thinki would be good to take this. Sorry, I think someone else would be good to take this.
Starting point is 01:28:07 So funerals with the Z. Mm-hmm. Sounds like it's right. We were trying to refine it yesterday. We were sitting around talking. Walt says You go out on your like man on the street type interview and you're like, hey, did you hear vanilla ice died? And then you get that person's reaction and did you you hear vanilla ice died? And then you get that person's reaction. And you tell them like we're getting some sound bites for tonight's news. Okay. I'm with the such and such news. We're gonna have some sound bites. You know, man on the street reactions to the news tonight. And I like I didn't hear it. It's a death every week. Yeah. Okay. Maybe a couple deaths to show. It couldn't it's not just one couldn't carry. I know you guys would probably want to move away
Starting point is 01:28:43 from some of these D list guys, but like our sea list, I shouldn't carry. I know you guys want to move away from some of these D-list guys but like our sea list I shouldn't say. Sorry, but they say apologize. Robert Finwinkel. People who are instantly recognizable to the public have we'll have a reaction like Bonitucci or a tone look was a backup. You just say hey you know did you hear the news today? He passed away. Can we get your feelings on this? You know, because people dated with Bolly, he would be too big for this though. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:11 And it would be, you don't want universally like. Yeah, you want to hit like, they get a chance of them saying like, why, who gives a question? I didn't like them. And he was a clown or he was a, he was a, it was a worse thing than about rap music ever or whatever. And then you have to go around the corner. And then is pops out
Starting point is 01:29:26 Why you dissonally like that? And then they got a backtrack and will they backtrack and it's by the end of the segment Well, they'd be like, you know, I actually did I like you I'm gonna go pick up your problem this week or something Yeah, it is like where to your mother? It's easy. It's easy to book definitely get those I think vanilla ice might be free Well, I mean you could just take all the people that are on your other shows, like worlds craziest or worlds wildest this or that.
Starting point is 01:29:49 We don't do it anymore. Yeah, well, that's hard. So we need to have Danny Bonta do a show. I feel like we're moving away from all that. Only A-list celebrity. You must still have Tonya Harding's phone number, though, you could just be a car. And then with that, you bookend it with celebrity announcements
Starting point is 01:30:04 like that. And you kind of like get the you it's kind of got you for the the pedestrian You're like oh you're alive you also get that moment where like they like they thought a dead person just popped up that they you just were They thought was dead for a few seconds. Mm-hmm. I don't know if the reactions gonna be that like shocking I just think I don't know. Yeah, I don't know you guys really believe in this one? We do, so much so we were gonna shoot some test footage yesterday using me, but we were afraid no one would know me by name. They'd be like, was your Brian Johnson died like who's that? So then we were like, should we just go to people
Starting point is 01:30:37 that definitely know me 100%? But you're family here with Aaron? Like Tom from Redies, we're gonna be like, hey Brian died and then see what he says then I'd pop out You think he's gonna bad So we don't have the test for what if what if what if you up, shit that people said on Twitter about famous people? And then, but for the most part, that was called haters. What was positive?
Starting point is 01:31:11 What was positive? There was a show called haters. But you're not getting, people are more, are so much more unlikely to talk bad about the dead. That's why if you can get that one person to be like, you know, who's kind of in the moment, and it's like I couldn't stand them. The things I feel like the reactions you're gonna get
Starting point is 01:31:28 are mostly people just be like, oh, that's so sad. You know, and I don't know what that is. That's all I've got. Well, that's why we go with the real ones in the middle of the show then. Uh-huh. Tell them about the real like people who will like write in, who wanna do, who wanna stage your fun few roles on someone they know a few roles. Oh yeah yeah because we're talking about
Starting point is 01:31:49 that that show cheaters. Yeah you never seen a show cheaters. No you never saw that footage where you got stabbed and you saw the boat. It was the best ever you thought your So significant other was cheating on you who could hire this TV show to set up Cam's and to follow them around and expose and you would get you could expose them on camera Okay, and you know you would have the host then why'd you do this? He's all upset why you do or she's all upset and you would try to you'd have like Testimonials in between the footage of like, you know, like I'm so up about this. I can't believe she's did this to me or he did this. I think if people assigned for there must have tricked him with the signing somehow. Well, they sometimes they blur out the face of the
Starting point is 01:32:32 driver. Obviously, they wouldn't sign off. But on, but on funerals though, let's say your boss is treating you like a dick. I'm not like this. I'm not like this. Yeah. Yeah. President Cummings could, yeah. They won't put a map of stand out. It's like you're like, well, I said, you feel like you're not being, you're not, your
Starting point is 01:32:53 work is not being appreciated at the office. Uh-huh. You, you set up a funeral. You figured that out. And you have. This isn't what, the way you pitched to me, though, isn't it? No, I don't want to, because I know, go because I can talk because this one's a little bit more Palatable if I said family. Oh, you're trying to water it down. Oh, this is the water down
Starting point is 01:33:11 Yeah, that's good to know. I'm glad you're holding back You go. He's trying to sell it. I know. No, I hate you to say something offensive You sell the co-workers in the wash. You have someone go in it like somebody a fake cop He was on his way to work today. I just want to let everyone know. Bill passed away on the way into work today. He's like so far so good. Bill's dead. Keep talking.
Starting point is 01:33:40 He's not a no yet. That's the way I know way to work today. I just want to let everyone know. And then what happens? And then I have more memorial service. There's been fake cameras set up beforehand. And Bill gets to hear the aftermath of how they really felt about them. We should go back to work ever again. People are like, oh oh fucking thank Christ.
Starting point is 01:34:05 What the fuck is this? And he gets what he's looking for and that like he felt unappreciated but then he sees all the love and all the appreciation that they really did have. You think seeing people like actively morning would make really like fun television? Well just for a little bit, that's not like you go through the whole feeling.
Starting point is 01:34:23 That's definitely not a comedy. Right, okay. It's just so you go through the whole future. That's not a comedy. Right, okay. It's just so you know. Is there a scene? Yes, you're all okay. It's not a comedy. You want to get the young graphic. You want to be the young graphic.
Starting point is 01:34:31 Okay, God. I mean, that's how you just do a few girls who might just get, you know, you might be getting only the cherry-acchi crowd. Sure. You might not know what it is, but you want that scene on the end so you get the young. No, all the kids are all over the world. I don't want to be old people. Look, a types somewhere.
Starting point is 01:34:45 S-takes, eurls. And then you reveal, though, at the year of Veele, he comes out and he's just like, and he says, like, I've been feeling down, I've been feeling like my work wasn't appreciated. I call the suicide, like, and you know, I try to get a blowjob on a glory. It's a mending thing.
Starting point is 01:35:03 And I would cook all bad, too. They could be like, they have from math, they could be like, this is really where you do that. We can replace Bill. He sucked at his job. So was that going to the actual funeral? No, no. You know, okay, the cut is barely done with the announcement
Starting point is 01:35:18 before they have the temp in there. Bill's like, what the fuck? HR's here, and he's like closing the case on his phone. Oh, originally you pitched it as like, it was a dad who, like the cop was telling his wife and kids like, oh, your dad died, you know, on his way home from work, I guess it would be. And then, you know.
Starting point is 01:35:42 That's the little two, that's the little dramatic though. The shock of seeing him come back, because he's gonna come back and reveal himself. Right. It would be too traumatic for a family member, I think. Yeah. But not like, I mean, you're talking about. You're not talking about.
Starting point is 01:35:54 This would be like the boss maybe, you would be like, oh, I didn't know you felt that way. Me or me, a great hug at the end. Like, I'm not gonna treat you like that. I'm not gonna lever let you ever think ever again. Right. That you're not a vital cog in this machine. I'm not going to lever let you ever think ever again. Right. That you're not a vital cog in this machine. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:36:08 So the idea is that big death has really put things in perspective. Sometimes all it takes is taking your own death. Oh, that's a great tagline. Sometimes all it takes is you. That's why we want you on this. Oh. Yeah. I thought of that one a long time ago that we just dust that one off because we knew you were coming
Starting point is 01:36:27 Yeah, I appreciate it. Nobody nobody bitten Different ideas though like the celebrity one and this yeah, cuz the celebrity like you just want that reaction Because he just because you it's cheap, too. Just walking up to people on the street. Yeah, yeah, it's definitely cheap Well, yeah, because he's well, it was a show was called Hater. Mm-hmm. It lasted a month. Mary Lopez hosted the reality show where famous, that pairs famous people with their biggest anti-fans. Celebrities are given the chance to confront civilians who hate them and try to convince haters that their animosity is misdirected. Can you imagine? Mm-hmm. Being that so and these are not small names Kim Kardashian snooki? Why do you think failed
Starting point is 01:37:09 The promise sounds was it hate over to Z. No, it was H8 are For a copy why this too confusing right yeah people like what is this? I thought is a type of like females with a Z which I know exactly what's going on It's not like funerals with a Z which I know exactly what's going on Yeah, I never I remember seeing the promos were but I never saw never saw that that sounds like a like it sounds like a real cheap cheap cheap show that could be on like some real small cable channel Yeah, will the celebrities be able to win over the people who just like them the budget, you know to get a Now but back then probably it was this 2011. Yeah, we had the funerals was a
Starting point is 01:37:46 long, it was an idea of a long time ago. I think it's the one that go, what? To me, could we get like 10 gram from the network to shoot up like a tape? Is it real?
Starting point is 01:37:54 Yeah. Oh, for that idea? For funerals. Yeah, absolutely not. Okay. Oh my God. I'm telling you, man, it's off.
Starting point is 01:38:01 There's a tough audience, man. We have not been able to get another show on the air. You fucking put up over that, man. That's a tough one. Yes, man. We have not been able to get another show on the air. You fucking put a top over that, man. And funerals with his evening. I meant Jogas Wilders fucking good, bro. Were you in charge of that? Yeah, that was my show, too.
Starting point is 01:38:15 Yeah, that one had some bumps. What were the bumps in Jogas Wild? Why do you think it didn't succeed? You know, I don't know. Can you take this one? Why do you think Jogas Wild didn't succeed? I think Joker's wild didn't succeed for two reasons. One, it wasn't the best show that we can make. We were under the gun, we were under production.
Starting point is 01:38:34 We were trying to do two shows at once and figure out the live show. So, so, our, but and the sketches that we made were funny, but They could have been produced a little bit better. They don't look that great. It wasn't the best thing to show But more than that people are fucking dope's I think people expect and like you in a certain role Yeah, that's a show. What'd you stuff outside that right because because it didn't look bad They look horrible and it was funny I still like a lot of things and like some of the some of the bits that aired on that show we've shown in the live show and they kill they kill every time and
Starting point is 01:39:12 But we were getting comments like This is scripted or wait this seems fake to me like people Didn't get that it was scripted they thought it was like we were trying to get one over on them that it was in scripted. A lot of people aren't that bright. A lot of people aren't that bright. I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, I think a lot of people tuned in because the bar is set so high for jokers right now, but in a different way. So I feel like even if it's good, if it's a different show, people aren't going to give it the same shot, you know? And ratings were pretty good though.
Starting point is 01:39:47 They were. Why did they get renewed? Because it's still had pretty fucking higher ratings. I'm glad it didn't, because it was just too much work, but. I, to be honest, I don't remember this point. I don't remember, I don't remember the numbers being that great.
Starting point is 01:39:59 I think they were, they were pretty good, but they weren't as high as Joker's for sure. No, they were, they were like, 0.8, 0.8, I don't even remember. They were doing pretty good. I don't know, I mean, it was just, that I can't answer. I don't remember exactly why Joker's for sure. No, they would've gotten like 0.8, 0.8, I don't even remember. They don't pretty good. I don't know. I mean, it was just that I can't answer. I don't remember exactly why I didn't get picked up.
Starting point is 01:40:10 We didn't have a lot of fights on that, did we? No, not too many. I don't have any fights on that. No. No, I think we saved it all for Staten Island maps. Did you care, Q, when I got canceled? No, I was happy. I was happy with it.
Starting point is 01:40:28 It was too much work, not of pay. And the react was doubled down on the react. Like, yeah, I was not upset when it went away. I'm not even seeing it on Wikipedia. That's weird. But people like it. It just happened in the UK. We got some very nice email about... Yeah, you guys are multinational, we hear.
Starting point is 01:40:53 What's that, Drew? Well, Joker's, yeah. Yeah, these guys are big in a lot of countries, right? India, I hear Indians. I got a lot of messages today, people asking when you guys are coming to India. And... Yeah, we opened up Twitter to fans that Sydney was going to be on, see if there was any questions. Sydney, were there any questions that seemed good? There were a lot of questions about what's my favorite punishment challenge we've done. What are the guys like in real life that sort of you know that kind of fair I don't know a few people asked which is the real cues is he the one on Tom Steve Dave or is he the one on Joker's because he seems different
Starting point is 01:41:32 a little You know, you haven't listen to him Steve. They haven't listened enough. I mean I I but to me I mean my sense from what I've heard is you know, you're pretty I feel like you're salt you're yourself on both shows It's not like you're putting on an act and either want right? Well I'm dancing. I saw him dancing. I saw him dancing. I don't know. The one that was missing was an organ grinder. Ah!
Starting point is 01:41:58 Ah! Wow, was that being told to dance? I don't know if it's air yet. The one where you're wearing the bells on the jacket and the grocery store is dancing around. Oh, that's a funny one. We started dancing in that one. But that was just a big foul left, though. Right.
Starting point is 01:42:13 So that's in probably, I don't know, probably tell them some of the day, but we also, we've in the later years of tell them some of the day had started taking on characters, a little bit on the show, a little bit, mainly to piss off our own audience, which doesn't make a ton of sense when you think about it. The whole tax thing only kept going on and on because people reacted so negatively to it. So that's why I would talk about it all the fucking time. There's also a more recent one that...
Starting point is 01:42:43 The Hillary thing? Well, some some of you know, the biggest the text. Yeah, it's the Hillary thing kind of the Hillary thing fizzled because the payoff never came because the payoff was she was supposed to be on Joker. Do you remember that? Oh, with my Hillary Clinton. Yeah. And then that just went away. Oh, we're thinking about maybe doing some sort of a promo for the network. Yeah. And so the but it never came. So that that joke died on the line. So like maybe Brian being like against politically correct culture. Well, unfortunately, that's right. But you know, you've said certain things on here. And then. That were that were said in just to play up a character. Yeah Your ghostbusters review no
Starting point is 01:43:36 You haven't seen the movie when you see it then you can then we can talk. Okay. Did you see ghostbusters? I did not know okay All right Okay, I mean, I'm just saying I've seen I've seen us the two things on here Well the taxing definitely went on way long the only reason reason the colonel thing is still going is because that asshole wrote that letter saying he didn't like the colonel thing. You know, get him for a while. I was only brought on to a to troll and annoy people. Yeah, yeah, that's true. Yeah, I was more out of spite. I was getting on more than I thought he needed to be on. But then I actually was like, sure, literally, he's literally an oil well. Yes. And he will spit gold constantly.
Starting point is 01:44:13 Yeah. If you just, if you just strike at the right spot in his body, you'll, or guess I'm fucking, like gold. Yeah. You disagree with that, Brian? That we've, we've taken on certain stances just to annoy people who have voiced dissenting opinions?
Starting point is 01:44:34 Yeah, maybe at times, say certain things that you know will get a rise at a people. But for me, it's more like I'll say stuff that I know is offensive on purpose right. Oh then you're definitely you're you're you're you're then you're doing it then. Push your buttons. You're just doing it just because you know it's going to get a reaction. Sometimes but generally not I'd say like the tax thing with you is really the only thing that were or are you being like the the LaFaria? Well that was something yeah that I from day one was
Starting point is 01:45:14 like that's let's just not say that or that you don't like fat chicks. Yeah and I never said that the tax thing was definitely the longest thing that I kept going just to annoy people in the audience. The tax thing was definitely the longest thing that I kept going just to annoy people in the audience. Um, I don't know. No. Actually, you know, let me rephrase it. Sometimes I won't cut out offensive stuff because I know. Because it'll bother people. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:38 Very rarely do I cut anything out. We keep it real with a Z. So, all right. So, Simmy, no questions came through that you thought were worth answering. You know, I could certainly answer. I mean, there were a lot of questions about the live event that we got coming up there. You know, things like that, things that were specific about the show. Right. Did we even announce that?
Starting point is 01:46:00 Yeah, we announced that it's happening. We didn't announce a lot of details about it, but yeah, we announced Nitro Circus November 3rd, Prudential Center. We're having a live event. Yeah, live season finale. In Jersey. In Jersey?
Starting point is 01:46:17 At the rock. That's right. All right. Yeah, I'm trying to think, I mean, there were, again, a lot of questions, a lot of people always want to know what you guys are like, who you guys made in the Joker's are like in real life versus on TV, but it's pretty much the same, right? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:32 Joe's a little more business like behind the scenes. Yeah, I'd say so. I think that would be the one that would surprise people, because I say it all the time, I'm like, he runs the show. Yeah, he's much more, he has that serious business side of him for sure. Yeah. Yeah, I guess, more, he has that serious business side of him for sure. Yeah, yeah, I guess, you know what, that's interesting. I feel like he's the one that if when the camera start rolling, he's a little different in that sense that he's just, he can be buttoned up, but that's a, it's not bad, you know. No, not anyway, shape. I think without Joe steering the ship like he does, we would be, we would be in rough shape. Yeah. Um, this is the story. The story I was telling.
Starting point is 01:47:05 Somebody's phone is causing a was at this. Yeah. Okay. Sorry. Um, I mean, the story I was telling was my first. No, it just started. Okay. Um, the story I always tell is the, my first day that I worked on Joker's, we were shooting a special, um, where you guys were on a rooftop. It was one of those episodes where you guys are just, you know, shooting the shit and tossing a clips. Right. And I got there and I saw you guys doing it and we had about like five minutes of you guys going back and forth. And then I turned to Pete McPartlin showrunner and I was like, I think we got enough. And he's like, oh, we haven't started rolling yet. You know, this is just hanging out. And I was like, oh, you know, it's the
Starting point is 01:47:39 chef. It's the, so it's, I knew you guys are exactly very very similar on on screen and off Are you open to taking pitches from the tell-mseave Dave crew in the future? So I mean sure or do you if this was a preview of what's the come? Or do you feel like these ideas Well, it took a serious But you feel that these ideas have a have right, have, have, have often any interest that you have from talent, talent, to your day of production. No, I'd be, I'd be happy and honored to take a pitch.
Starting point is 01:48:12 I, yeah, these ones feel a little off for true TV, but, but, um, but yeah, I would say, you know, my door is always open, guys. So when we go into pitch, dyslexia, the game showlexia, the game show. A couple people tweeted about that. Yeah. We're going to have a big round about dyslexia game, like a championship amongst our players and our universe. The characters, the characters, but the people who make up the tomes these day family, it can I send you the file then?
Starting point is 01:48:44 Sure. I've got such great gameplay and family, and can I send you the file then? Sure. I've got such great gameplay and such like, what are you talking about? It's the most frustrating game I've ever made. No, but I've got, I've got, I've got, I've, I've, I've, I've fine tuned in. Why not one true three? I feel like, uh,
Starting point is 01:48:58 It's a fucking great, that's a legitimate game show. I don't want to take away your thing. But, uh, there, there's, there's so much new twists and turns. It's not just the two rounds that we had before. Now there's like there's truly strategy. Jimmy, what's the opposite of a horse? The opposite of a horse? Yeah. Oh God, that's hard. Take a step. There's no wrong answer. There's no right answer. What's the opposite the opposite of a horse? Yeah, I'm brain-searning with that one Um, I mean, I mean, this is to this is to the context of a context. I guess I go to see I guess I go to zebra but it's not okay Not a car. I'm gonna go to car
Starting point is 01:49:36 Yeah, you wouldn't you would go see a car if you're playing a game like Let's take this okay, you weren't talking about within the animal family. You just mean in general Oh, no, no in general, but you have to figure out Okay, then a car is a fair answer What if I said this um bread stick? That was like a wakenings The ball If I said bread like if I said, what's the opposite of bread? And what's
Starting point is 01:50:07 the opposite of stick? What's the opposite of bread? Right, that looks like it's in the food family. What's the opposite of bread? And it's a category is food. Okay, what's the opposite of bread meat? I don't know. Yes. Yes. Okay. Don't don't don't mistake this chemistry for me like in the idea So you got the first one. Okay. We know it's bread and meat. So it bread stick the opposite is meat What's the opposite of a stick pie? Oh? Loaf Jesus Jesus oh, but is a ball the opposite of
Starting point is 01:50:46 stick? That's the question. Oh, yes, I mean, yes, it is. If you don't think so, you're an asshole. I think the fundamental flaws, you don't know what the word opposite means. You think you can't you cannot judge a game of this I'm telling you Sure I can't need to see the file you need to listen to the whole game played with all its nuances and it's the strategic elements And I have I have a set design uh-huh two come through the two players Especially built chair where they're back-to-back when they're giving these clues Uh-huh chair that they're there back-to-back and they have to speak to each other should have led with that that they're there back to back and they have to speak to each other. You should have led with that. You should have led with that.
Starting point is 01:51:24 You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that.
Starting point is 01:51:32 You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that.
Starting point is 01:51:40 You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. You should have led with that. We don't have a Tom Steve Dave. We don't have a producer squash in all this fucking. No That's that's that flows like Like what's the call when it float like water? Not water, but like it's like string stream of consciousness Mm-hmm. That's what Tom Steve Davis. No filter. There's yeah, we don't have to abide by sponsors or
Starting point is 01:52:02 But we don't. Yeah. Yeah. Got Fandall again this week. You like football? Well, I do like football. Who's your team? I'm a jazz fan. I'm more of a baseball guy.
Starting point is 01:52:13 What about Fitzpatrick, should he sit? I don't know. To be honest, I'm more of a bandwagon football fan. Baseball is my sport. I'm a big maths fan. Well, then you know about Fandall, because a fantasy baseball is just as big as football, right? Are you into that?
Starting point is 01:52:24 I'm very, I'm going to fantasy baseball at him to the daily leagues like Fandall and stuff like that, but But I I do a like a rotisserie fantasy festival. I did one. Yeah, man Football and Fandall that's a word pushing this week. Q. Yes, how'd your team do last week? Q I have a team What What team, any fandom? Yeah, you don't have a football team that you like? No, somebody was supposed to run it for me. Oh, football team that I like? You don't roof for any certain team.
Starting point is 01:52:52 Oh, man. You're not a giant guy or a jack guy, because you're, No, I don't like New York teams that play in Jersey, Walt. I like that. You know what I'm saying? Like, if you're a New York team playing New York, I hear that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:53:04 But you could put your skills to work I'm gonna say it. Like if you're a New York team playing New York. I hear that. Yeah. But you could put your skills to work and go win cash and fandals one week fantasy football contest. So you don't have time. You sound obviously very busy. Just one week. And you're not going to work in and Sundays for like it's so free. You can.
Starting point is 01:53:20 Yeah. There's nothing goes on Saturdays, right? So well, college football, but you can't. I'm going to get a fantasy football college. Yeah. So should I do that Fitzpatrick Center now? Who's that guy at the Broken Jowel last year? That back up?
Starting point is 01:53:33 Oh God. Should he get a shot at it? Well, I just don't know if I got to do something crazy about money. I don't think they're ready to send him yet. Among Sunday million dollar tournament, Walt. There's a million dollar tournament. Paying out at least a million dollars in prizes. Do I have to do I have to spout any any knots you probably can't that I want that money or is it just no?
Starting point is 01:53:55 I don't have to raise money for ISIS nothing like that. I guess it's a whim. Exactly. You have to stop kids in a playground. It's wearing a fendill shirt. And then you have to get that off. I forgot to tell you this part though. The end of the segment went when it's revealed that who's getting eliminated. You have like an in-unison like a crowd going, you're worse than Bernie Madoff. You have like you have like a like an in unison like a crowd going your worst then Bernie made off
Starting point is 01:54:26 And then somebody tases the He gives him an oversized jack for a hundred thousand That would probably make a good bit on Fameless casting for that show right? Yeah, for sure that would work. We yeah, family We we have a show this famous with David's Bade Which is actually kind of similar where people where people think they're going on a reality show But really that's it's sort of like Joe Schmo from a show, this famous with David Spade, which is actually kind of similar, where people think they're going on a reality show, but really it's sort of like Joe Schmo from a show, so it's that.
Starting point is 01:54:50 I forgot about that. I did forget that you guys had that show. Yeah. I would have pocketed that one for, you know, the place it was. It's like, family, we have like, it's fun. Is that a David Spade? You can't almost dressed up like Go to fandall.com click the join now button and use my promo code T.E.S.D That's fandall.com promo code TSD void reprimary got something right here. You're right
Starting point is 01:55:17 Yeah, you know, he got for Bobby for fandall like see you got some info. No, I don't have info No, when it said voidware prohibitive, I was thinking of like taking a shit where they don't want me to. Hahaha. Did you do a lot of phone faces? Yeah, yeah, yeah. A lot of problems. Well, people seem to, I guess I understand, too.
Starting point is 01:55:36 They're like, how do I know if I was in the first 25 or not? Yeah, there's a lot of people, I think it's Fandual's website, but this week there are no, there's no incentives. I gave way, probably, we're probably no more patches left, so do not join up the Fandall and think you're getting a patch this week because you're not, only do it
Starting point is 01:55:53 because you want to support the show. No patch, don't be so greedy. Yeah, come on man, how've you gotten enough Fandall? Yeah. We got Ring. No this will be good for you, Sammy. Yeah. Ring. Yeah, because, you know, somebody, some fuck up shows up to your house on Saturday. And oh, wait, no, because you would have to use your phone then, right? Isn't that how you use it? Yeah. Let's go to Sunday.
Starting point is 01:56:19 Okay. Sunday. It's any day but Saturday. Okay. Yeah. Some weirdo shows up to your house and they're like, hey, man, it's got thick glasses on. It's got a stained-teach. It's like Swiss ice, Swiss pants. And an icon. And I'm like, why don't you like my idea about the Swiss ice hotline? Yeah, no. And they're like, hey, I heard you on Tom Steve Dave
Starting point is 01:56:42 and you were yelling at Q. And they're all hot hey, I heard you on Tom Steve Dave and you were yelling at Q and they're all hot under the car about it. You could have this conversation. You got a map of Stan Island tattooed on his forehead. He's really pissed at you. He's a mess. All right, I got it. I get where he's coming from.
Starting point is 01:56:58 Right. Probably some chupyboss. The ring of security. Where it's like, it's a big is basically a camera that you put on outside your outside your door and somebody and you don't even have to be home because there's an app and somebody rings and they're like hey Sammy like you know like how these people are leaving their their hotel room doors open so you know you don't have to do that you can just
Starting point is 01:57:21 fucking check it out see the person see if you want to talk to maybe some dickhead that's always borrow money or whatever. You're like, I'm going to pretend I'm not home. We're going to the doorbell. Yeah. Like security. Security camera. Yeah. Security camera in a doorbell. Yeah. And it's also, remember how Ferris Puella had to make that tape that played? Yeah, sure. This you could actually talk into your phone from anywhere in the world. And it comes out through the doorbell. You could be like, yeah, you could be like, I'm taking a bathroom. I can come to the door. Okay.
Starting point is 01:57:48 You could be a Cali, maybe you're shooting the premiere episode of Funeral's song. I'm not gonna the door at home. You can talk to them. Or you got you decided to produce a script I wrote called Down Syndrome the movie. Downs with a z. Yeah, we got to work together bro. We're missing out on golden opportunity. But anyway, yeah, yeah, so you're in California and somebody. You know, I don door. Are you down with downs? Yeah. Yeah, this is good. I'm telling you, that movie's gonna fucking be fun. Down to the most.
Starting point is 01:58:32 So I'm in California. You're somebody who raised my doorbell. I got a wife and kids. You're just like, honey, don't go to the door. Let me check this out. The guy on sweatpants. I'm sorry, I can't come to the door because I'm in the bath. Yeah, I'm in the bowl.
Starting point is 01:58:43 Take a bowl bath, so I can't. I'm cleaning I can't come to do it because I'm in the bath. Yeah, I'm in the bowl take a bowl bath So All I'm cleaning my guns. Yeah That's a good one. I like that. Yeah, I'm sure putting my booey knife And then yeah, then you can have on your phone Maybe press a button and you can have like a dog barking like crazy in the background Uh-huh, you probably don't be quiet be quiet. Okay. Wait, is this is this is an idea? It's an apple a dog. Be quiet, be quiet. Okay. Wait, is this an idea? Is this an apple? That's unincluded in the ring secured. Just say about the dog parking thing.
Starting point is 01:59:15 That's a whole separate. Ring, you should get on that. Yeah. No, this is, this is just, this is something you buy. You get $150 off your kit. If you go to ring.com slash T E S D. And you never have to answer your door again really unless you want to because rings made it Homeburgler every 13 seconds That's crazy man, that's crazy. Do you think there's anyone see me at the network who Dislikes us to the point where they're waiting for Joe Gersinger cancelled now. No, no Hey, there's a lot of love for you guys. Q. There's a lot of love honestly. Yeah, yeah, it seems like it There might be some I mean is there somebody at the network who hate you guys? Yeah, it's the person and they're waiting for you. What do you think it's gonna be like?
Starting point is 01:59:56 I mean, I know that the comic book lover and you want would love a villain. I love a villain There are no villains. I get I like everybody the network say the paranoid. I know. That's true to. Well, nobody has a hundred success rates. He's looking for the black clothes. How does that news? All right. So true. We shoot season six, right? And true decides not to renew for seasons. So how does that news get delivered to us?
Starting point is 02:00:22 Oh, you went charge of that. No, my, my guess is that that's probably above my pay grade. That probably, God, that's a good question right now. I don't want to, I'm glad I don't want to be the one to make that call. Attached. Yeah, I'm like, hey, right, don't come back. Do we get called to the office?
Starting point is 02:00:41 That's a good question. I would imagine it would happen in person, but my sense senses at this point It's all parties. Well, I don't think there's gonna be any surprise. It's not gonna be like oh, you know, sorry We're just we're just killing this off. I know what they do. Right. Simee fakes his death And depending on how you react. Right. You're on the computer. We heard recently that the upper you might not this this might have
Starting point is 02:01:18 been above your pay grade but I heard recently that the that the upper etch on it the network although I would say you're in the upper echelon of the network, although I would say you're in the upper echelon, but like even above you was was annoyed at us recently. Have you tried for negotiations on the live episode? Did you hear any of that? I did not hear any of that. Okay.
Starting point is 02:01:34 So I'm sure it was warranted though if they were. No, I have no idea. Are they grading the jokers? I don't think they're greedy. I think they look, I think that this, I think it's, you know, when you get to this point when the show's in the successful, you're gonna try to fight for some money.
Starting point is 02:01:51 I think that's warranted. Sure. Well, I can't speak to the details of it. We didn't. I'm not involved on the money side really. In this case, once it was explained to us, what the financial reality was at the episode, we were like oh well a
Starting point is 02:02:05 folk and coarse and it went away in two seconds. I will say you know this that the network does try to make you guys happy they try to try to. 100% but we had basically all right let's say we get X amount for an episode right now if you're doing an an episode four times as long as normal, you're doing a two hour episode. Would you expect to get X times four? Is that a serious question from me in the show I'm on? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:02:34 Or for you. It's a how hard it is for us, I guess. It's not a show that you would probably rerun a lot, right? The live episode? No, no. Yeah. This is a lovely one or two time or maybe that we can.
Starting point is 02:02:47 No, that sort of thing. And I'm not even setting them up. Like, that's just the initial question. So now you're doing four times his work. Would you expect to get paid your rate times four? Times four? I mean, you would think, right? It's not unreasonable.
Starting point is 02:03:01 Everybody else getting paid times four? Now, this is, like, you mean the crew and all of them? Yeah. Probably not, because they get paid on a different rate. Right. But... Is it your idea?
Starting point is 02:03:12 No. Whose idea is this, with this two-hour show? To the networks. It was mine and that. I would think that you maybe, maybe two times would be fair. I don't know about four times. But, well, I'm not saying that we should get paid four times, but you could see how the initial thing would be fair. I don't know about four times. But while I'm not saying that we should get paid four times, but you can see how the initial thing would be like,
Starting point is 02:03:27 oh, that's great. We're doing, we're living two hours instead of a half hours. One four times and knowing they'll settle for two times. We ended up settling, well, once the reality of the budget was explained to us, there was no argument. There was no argument. We were just like, oh, okay. So that's where it came from.
Starting point is 02:03:42 Why not bring it up? Why not bring it up? Right. But is there ever the sense of the network that we are diva-ish? Did you ever hear that? I haven't heard that in a long time. Not a long time, but it's been like weeks, I think. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:03:55 But it does sometimes you'll hear that. I think full disclosure, I haven't heard it in a while. I feel like there were definitely, over the course of three years where there are times where you guys wanted something that seemed above and beyond, like it probably happened, but honestly, nothing comes to mind. Nothing, we had somebody at the network who was like, who the fuck did these guys think they are?
Starting point is 02:04:16 Yeah. That has had them and said it at the network, right? Who do these guys think they are? Because there was one or two demands that were just a little lofty. Yeah, I wonder what those would have been I would fucking love to I don't think it would have been the map the map the map. No, no That seems reasonable
Starting point is 02:04:31 Map does see now my reactions to the map was maybe a little bit like he's come around on this old bit It wasn't it wasn't about the map. It was about it was pride on to the next battle though There is no one but they know more battles. I've given up It was a prize on to the next battle though. There is no more but there are no more battles. I've given up, or you're not thinking about them up anymore, you totally gave up. So this is cute going back into the mode of, I really don't, I don't give a shit about any of this.
Starting point is 02:04:51 Yeah, you'll get a call later on. Yeah. Well, no, well, what the Benjamin Cat thing, I was, I was hoping we were gonna turn that into something bigger and that one away. Unfortunately, we did shorts for another show. I remember this was one of the times where a, oh, we were yelling.
Starting point is 02:05:10 And we got into it on this one. I was furious. I don't think I was on the phone. We were texting. We texted a lot about this one. We disagreed on an edit, on an edit. I still disagree with you. I don't feel, what happened was,
Starting point is 02:05:23 is we got hired to do, we didn't I got hired to help Shepherd how would you say it? Yeah, these cats these shorts base for another show on true based on Benjamin cat You're right, and I was super excited. I was doing it for free. I wasn't even getting paid. I got Just sound silly say but I got forced to get paid My whole thing was like I don't give a shit at all. Like, I'll just do it because I think it's fun. Who forced you to get paid? This was not North South.
Starting point is 02:05:52 Somebody said you have to get paid. They're like, you have to get paid. But I had said, I don't even give a shit. I said, I money, money wasn't even, that didn't even come up until after we shot, actually the episode. Because I didn't care about money. In fact, I took a pay cut in the end.
Starting point is 02:06:09 I mean, edits came in and I thought they were so funny. And then, and this is where I wonder if you'll admit this. If it's true, but the edits that came back, I strongly disagreed with. They, they just weren't to me. Weren't funny. Like they Like they ripped out the humor, they made them less mean, they made, they just made it not funny and bland to me. But you said it was your call, but it wasn't your call, was it?
Starting point is 02:06:41 But the edits for that period? Yeah, I think you were just taking a hit just to end the whole situation. I think I was partially my call and partially other people weighing in also, because that was for a show that wasn't really my show. Right. So, but you took it on yourself like it was your call.
Starting point is 02:06:56 Yeah. And when I calmed down, I was like, all right, I see why he did it. Because, well, I mean, that's one of the things that's tough about working at a network, is you're not, you know, sometimes you're taking other people's opinions into account and you're sort of trying to, you know, ultimately I'm speaking for the network. So like, even if there's something that, you know, sometimes I have to sell things that, you know,
Starting point is 02:07:20 it can get complicated. But I just didn't feel you I just I just know you you're a funny guy So I couldn't see you agreeing with their cut and that's what it was dropping. I mean nuts I was like there's no way and that's why he keeps saying when I said I know I know it's funny Because I knew the cut was funny like that was what I said. I was like I know it's funny. I know it's funny Yeah, not like I know it's funny although they might have been that too Do you consider showing anyone else these the at the time showing anyone else these like opinions like the people who wrote it and directed it are the writers on a practical jokers who have years of UCB experience and are very funny.
Starting point is 02:07:58 And they they know what's funny like they were funny, like they were funny. Like, you were fighting for the other show, which I'll remain nameless. I was fighting for the writers who had no, and the director who had no voice. So I was trying to pop up my feathers a little bit on their behalf. And I just, I was like, I couldn't get how you thought that they're at it's were funny
Starting point is 02:08:22 because there were no jokes. It wasn't a single joke left in that edit. I was like, this is fucking crazy. Yeah. Um, but, uh, yeah, that one didn't think of it as well. I was saying we all hoped it was. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:08:36 But I just felt like you were just saying it politically. Were you saying it politically a little bit? I think part of it was. You know, that makes me feel better though. If you couldn't see the value in Benjamin Cat, then I'm not feeling so bad that he's not that into... Are you worse than Hitler or Funeral's? Hmm. Oh, it puts his whole...
Starting point is 02:08:54 It puts his whole... It's definitely... It puts everything in perspective. I'm not giving up on the suicide, huh? This guy is not what the fuck he's talking about. I think we should focus on Funeral's. I'm coming around in all these acting things. I think we should focus on funerals. I'm coming around and all these items. I think we should focus on funerals.
Starting point is 02:09:09 So we should pitch semi a show, I think. All right. Not legitimate, we're not on air though. Yeah. All right. I think we should develop funerals into something. Yeah. Come in, guys.
Starting point is 02:09:23 We're so that one true three. Let's have one true three is a legitimate show. Yeah, that's that that will sell. One true three is great. Celebrity one true three. Yeah, got ice of vanilla ice in there. We'll take this off. Wow.
Starting point is 02:09:38 All right. So that's it. We got to wrap it up. Thank you for coming in. Pleasure. Yeah, thank you. We got this off to our out three. That's great. We got to wrap it up. Thank you for coming in The pleasure. Yeah, thank you. I'm so sure I was great. That's great. Well, I'm fun old disturbing, but you know Expecting nothing less. I think I think feet for a first time thrown into it. I think you did really well Thank you. I appreciate it guys. I think I think the second time we better
