Tell Tom Cruise what to do with his life.
He really needs your advice, you fucking morons.
I'm in Dollar General.
I'm sure you guys have never been in Dollar General.
Only when we're gooning.
That's right.
Just to maybe just not do so much door-dashing.
I know people like it, though, but it's killing me.
Tell him, Steve, Dave.
Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Tell him Steve Dave, Walt's here.
Get him as, I mean, yeah, get him is here.
Q is back from the UK.
Yo.
I'm here.
Have you picked up any new Britishisms?
No.
No.
No, I talked to a surprisingly few amount of British people.
Oh, really?
Yeah, a lot of, a lot of, a lot of, uh,
A lot of wandering around and drinking.
Yeah.
Yeah, stuff like that.
Just wandering the streets.
Yeah.
Oh, it's so great.
If Q had stayed for a prolonged period of time and he, let's say, close to a year.
Right.
He just loved it so much.
And he came back and he did have an accent.
How big of a douchebag would he look like?
It would be content for the next year.
Coming back like Madonna.
Yeah.
I was going to say, yeah.
Did a medallia and madonna with that.
I would love to try it.
I'd love to live there for you.
I really would.
It's just the greatest.
Like he's dropping bloody.
Well, hello.
Cheerio.
Just like a Staten Island, like British.
Oh, cheerio.
Yeah.
What's there, governor?
He's the new Gordon Rams.
He just throw out insults.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Great town.
I was wondering, well, you might know this.
but I saw highlights from a football game
and Tom Cruise and Taylor Swift were there
and I think it was the Kelsey Box?
Okay, so you saw that game.
Chief Broncos, Monday Night Football.
Yep.
So you saw them talking then?
Yes.
What do you think they talk about?
Oh, shit, that is so heady
that it makes Tellmsteed Dave look like special needs.
I sell comics.
Like a conversation between two kinnitus.
Right.
Maybe a kindergartner and a preschooler.
Aren't they like 30 years apart?
I think so, yeah.
They're all levels that are like.
Illuminati type stuff?
Yeah, they're like, they're talking about shit, like time travel.
I was thinking like probably Scientology.
Yeah.
He's trying to like woo her.
He doesn't really bring it up Scientology much anymore.
I wonder what happened there.
Yeah, I don't know.
But when I saw them.
He took a drumming saying,
he's not acting his age.
He was on the cover of GQ I saw,
and people were bashing him for posing without a shirt on.
Did he look good?
If you took his head off at the body,
that's a body of like a 20-year-old dude.
So why are people giving him shit?
Because he's not acting his age.
Who's to them to tell?
And it's not any like it's obvious he's had work done.
Any of these fucking bitches.
It's not a real body.
Tell Tom Cruise what to do with his life.
He really needs your advice, you fucking morons.
But yeah, I do feel for the guy, though, when, you know, like, he can't even, like, have a photo shoot without a shirt on without people just giving him hell.
Like, he works that hard to look like, like, a 20-year-old and it's not, and it's still not.
And it's still like, oh, yeah.
You're doing something.
Oh, you're like what you're doing?
Boy, let me just fire up.
I mean, what, it's not even off.
It's just open.
You know that that's basically off.
I wouldn't pose like that.
I wouldn't either.
I mean,
I'm posing like that.
Yeah,
but that was...
When I'm posing like that on our album cover?
It was 20 years ago.
We saw an 8 by 10 of that.
Dude,
if I had fucking abs like that,
you wouldn't get me with a shirt on.
I would never fucking wear a shirt.
It'd be so in your fucking face.
Now, if that was,
if that was a female on there,
who was like,
looking sexy.
Looking sexy.
No, no.
It would be empowering.
Depends on the field
With Sidney Sweeney
Oh, then it's not.
Oh, no!
But I'm worried!
I had written that down like
the Sydney Sweeney thing.
She's back in the news.
Yeah.
She's doing,
have you seen any of the pictures, Walt?
No.
No.
No.
It's for a sports betting company.
And she owns.
Oh, she owns it?
She's like a big stakeholder.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
So she posed like very, very, very,
sexy with
well naked
different yeah
naked with
a hockey stick
with a basketball
now is that
though but this is
this kind of
treads on
murky waters though
this is definitely
encroaching on like
muddying the waters
of like getting young
men
all hyped up
like oh my God
you know
hot beautiful naked woman
go on
I might win money
right
It's like it's like their brains aren't wired enough yet to realize that's their fucking problem.
I don't sound like my issue at all.
This is taking advantage.
I had to make mistakes in my 20s just like everybody else.
Why does this fucking assholes get to get off?
I don't know.
I think she's praying upon the week.
That's not even what people are pissed about.
No?
People have just pissed that she's hot.
People are just pissed that she's like fucking hot.
Like that's literally driving some segment of society insane.
And also that she's setting women's rights back 50 years.
In what way I can't.
I got to say, there's some shit going on out there that's setting women back.
It's not Sidney Sweeney.
She's not single-handedly responsible for your racing.
In fact, she makes me like women more.
She's fun.
Yeah.
I'm like, oh, yeah.
I remember when chicks used to be like, this is great.
Now, it was kind of weird to see people like twist themselves into knots to tear her down for it.
I was like, guys, like, oh.
They're like, she lost two hundred.
100,000 Instagram followers.
Meanwhile, she has like 25 point something million.
Oh, no.
It didn't seem like she cared.
But, yeah, it's not the first type that, like, I mean, she's not sports related,
but I saw sports related, like, athletes, females, given her shit, talking about, like, you know,
this isn't what female sports is all about.
Yeah, are you socializing sports?
But it's happened before.
I mean, every sports illustrated, they have Olympians in there and stuff.
They've also been under the criticism, though, when I've done it, too.
It's not like they escaped without any criticism for sexualizing.
Right.
I'm saying, though, that...
The Sports Illustrator fucking magazine was fucking ripped apart for how gratuitously sexualized it was.
And what did this have to do with sports?
Mm-hmm.
You know, back in the 70s and the 80s.
But they don't complain about other female athletes being on the cover, like half-naked.
Like one of the, the, the, Serena or Venus, one of the sisters.
Yeah.
Was naked on the cover and you didn't hear shit about it.
I don't have a problem with that either.
I could go for it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
If I looked like the serenia says, if I had that sort of tennis body, I'd be on that cover too and I'll clothes on.
Can't keep the clothes on you.
You couldn't keep clothes on me if I had a body worth showing anybody.
I think you have selective.
Shower with a T-shirt on.
Because Sports Illustrated took a lot of criticism for publishing that year after year.
The bikini issue?
Yeah.
They still do it, though, don't they?
Or did they stop?
I don't know if they even have a print magazine anymore?
No, it was to me, it was like, this one actually did hit my radar because it was just like, I read an article that was like, that was a rebuttal.
This is what got me into it because I read an article that was a rebuttal to Sidney Sweeney posted a bunch of photos of female athletes doing, you know, kind of what you're done, what Brian had just referred to.
And then this fucking one writer was like, yeah, but they're athletes.
Sydney Sweeney doesn't have the license to do this with sports.
And blah, blah, blah.
And I was just like, okay, now we're getting it to like 20-20-type fucking discourse where it's like, all right, who's issuing the license?
Yeah.
Can I be the guy that issues a license?
Because I'll do it right now.
Like, who?
You're going to rubber stamp her license?
She's rubbing stamp her right in.
Like, who is in charge of the license?
Because why do you rubber stamp hers, though?
I rubber stamp to everybody because there's nothing.
There's no fucking license.
There's no license.
She's a human that enjoys sports like all of us.
You can do what the fuck she wants.
But she owns the.
company, though.
Good.
That's a strong fucking successful woman.
Isn't this what we're supporting?
I thought so.
I thought so.
But when you own the company and then you go out and do this, it's kind of like,
it's fishy.
I don't think so.
I don't think so either.
Again, it's like, you know,
they're using sex cells.
We all know that.
So,
so Tom Brady advertised one of his own companies wearing just a
pants, you know, topless.
What's he selling?
Well, I don't believe that.
What's he selling?
Like the crypto he did.
What's he selling?
Pokemon cards.
The crypto he did.
His card shop.
Yeah.
His card shop.
Yeah.
Crypto is bad because it's not a safe for sure.
But if he was selling like if he was like he had his shirt off and he's selling his jeans.
Yeah, I'd buy those jeans.
Are they perfect jeans?
What if he's holding up some playing sports cards?
Are they his sports cards?
From his store, yeah.
Or just his brand of sporting cards.
He's opening up like he's going to put up like.
Yeah, he's got to publish some cards.
Yeah, I don't think that's pride.
Because if you're into sports cards, that's fine.
But if you're in gambling and that kind of, in crypto too, it's like it's this, you could lose money and your status and your fame or your sexuality can make people kind of lose their minds a little bit and not realize that like, oh, man, I probably shouldn't do this.
This is not a good idea.
And you get just got caught up.
Why isn't a good idea?
I don't hear the reason why.
Gambling?
Yeah.
We don't got prize picks this week, do we?
No.
Let's talk about how awful gambling is.
Really, the only winner is.
And this is the hypocrisy that I love.
Society seems unwilling to just be like, yeah, right, we're being a little bit hypocritical here, but we don't think it's good.
Everybody acts so fucking righteous.
Wholier than now.
And so holier than now.
But when it comes to gambling, the only people who win are.
the are the house.
If you win too much, they ban you and they have every right to.
Yeah, that's when they do a lot of...
Yeah, but that's their business.
Like, it doesn't...
Yeah, so there's no way for you to win because you're stacking the deck against you.
If you're going to...
If you go into it, knowing that.
People think, people think they have a system.
I got a system.
I can beat it.
But who am I to tell them that they don't have a system?
Who the fuck am I to tell anybody how to live their fucking life?
Because if you do have a system, they'll shut you down.
Okay, but again, like, who am I to tell anybody involved in that situation, what I think
about it?
Like, that's my point.
wait like I got I'm not the gambler I'm not the gambling company I got nothing to do with any of it
why the fuck am I do you know what I'm saying it's like don't you don't you feel for the people
who get preyed upon know who are who have these who have might have issues with gambling and
they're being bombarded constantly with these like you can't even you can't escape it now it's
like in your face it's constant commercials and now we've got a fucking hot chick being like
yeah come gamble finally you might have it
chance with someone like me.
Right. I mean,
I,
like it's even in the sports cast.
At the start of your sentence, I was like, yeah, I have empathy
for people like that, but then by the end,
when they're like, I see touch, me gamble,
I'm like, no, I don't care then.
Like, I don't care. Like, I don't.
Like, I feel bad for people. We have to
look out for that portion.
Who are these hypothetical people?
You've made all these people up.
There's not an example of this person.
There are literal people who lose on
sporting events and then go after the referee.
for making the right call, sending them death threats and stuff.
So what is that?
Everybody's life.
Everybody's mental.
So you can't account for like you can't tiptoe around every like we can't see Cindy
Sweeney half naked because some guy who gambles too much might fucking get it into his head to
use her company.
It's just wild.
To me it's the hypocrisy that there's no personal accountability.
I don't, I get why why people have the argument that you're saying.
Well, it's not like I'm like I don't see that side of it.
I do.
It's just a fucking hypocrisy.
which you just fucking pointed out on your own
because you're a fucking smart person
and you're self-aware enough to be like,
nah, I know we're doing the gambling thing.
But still,
but it's like it's the holier than now motherfuckers
that I thought went underground.
For some reason,
they're sitting there.
They bring them right back up.
They know better than everybody.
They know better than fucking me.
They know better than you.
They know better than Sydney Sweeney.
They know better than everybody.
But all right, so let's say you're a rival gambling site
to Sydney Sweeney's.
Yeah.
And let's say her,
this ad campaign now takes.
It works.
It works and now they're losing money.
Okay.
But it works.
Is that unfair though that like, okay, she has her own gambling site now?
And then she's posing half nude or almost nude.
And now that's an unfair.
They have many paths.
It's not even playing field.
But business isn't fair.
Nobody's like, nobody's talking about fairness of business.
They can hire an equally hot.
Yeah, there's more Sydney Sweeney's out there.
More they could go in another direction and be like,
like, hey, we're not doing that. We're going to be
the classic.
We're going to be the classic. Here's
a fucking guy in a tuxedo.
You know what I mean? See how it sells.
We're a family.
Try it. But like to sit there
and be like, and if the Sydney-Sweeney things work,
then it's just like, then
that's what fucking people want. And that's what
people like. I'm just surprised in this day
in age it works when it's so easily.
Because it's so easily
access now that type
of content.
Sure.
Like in our days growing up,
that's a total different story.
True.
But now it's like, what the,
like how is this so like a big deal?
That I agree with.
That I agree with the hundred years.
Why are we even talking about this, right?
Because people get upset at shit and you're like,
I don't understand why.
Yeah, because you can see this,
you can see a bazillion of girls who look like this.
Anywhere.
Anywhere.
Like,
so why is this a big deal?
Why does this move the needle at this point anymore?
They just,
I guess because of the first, like, I've got good genes.
Like that brought her into the public eye in terms of like, letate on her.
So now doing something equally, if not more sexy.
It's, it's, yeah, it's driving people not.
They hate her.
But if it was Lizzo up there with her own betting company, she would be celebrated.
Without a doubt.
100%.
And then the, and then it was like I'm rewatching some James Bond movies.
And I just watched Daniel Craig walk out of the water in that fucking little blue, blue fucking thing.
I didn't sit there and go like
Oh, do you use a deal
You'll create to sell Jay's Bond
You're using a new man's perfect body
To sell Jay's Bond
And I can't take like
You just like fuck
That looks like a fucking really superior human
I wish I looked like that
Fucking Hugh Jackman in a
Deadpool
That was a callback to
Was it Ursula Anderson?
It doesn't matter when it was a callback though
I'm just saying like I don't get
Like there's just
I don't get what fires in people's brains
Outrage
We're there
I know but why
There's so many real things to be outraged
But it's hard to sustain that outrage.
So you have to constantly keep stoking an outrage fire by throwing new sticks of outrage into it.
Like now they're saying that the Trump administration is going to loosen whale protections.
Right now the law is that if you accidentally kill a whale, it's just as serious as an offense as if you purposely kill a whale.
And he's changing that law.
And to me, I'm just like, that's fucking way more fucking worth getting upset.
set about than Sidney's
How is that even on the fucking administration's
radar? Like what fucking whale
killing company is like
giving him and putting this in even into
his radar? Right. Right? You've got to think like
why, who is fucking right now benefiting
from that they're going to be able now kill whales and be like
ho hoopsie? Oopsie! Yeah. Right. I'll tell you who's not benefiting
the whales. Exactly. Well, I think what it is
is like around here like in New Jersey, we get a lot of whale strikes
because we have all that shipping,
and there's more whales coming back to this,
like the bay over here.
So they're getting more whales washed up
and then they can go off to the boat owner.
Good.
Who do you can't,
it's not like you can turn to avoid a whale.
No, but you can work on develop.
If there was money in developing a technology
to keep whales away from the boats.
Or then you would see that.
Instead, they make it like,
nah, let's let them keep hitting whales.
It's like, to me, that's so infuriating
in a way that Sydney Sweening
holding a baseball bat over her nipples.
It's just not.
to me.
But you know some fucking company has
fucking donated enough money
to make sure that it gets
on his desk so he could be
like, you know, we will not penalize
people who kill whales.
Accidentally. I love to see the outrage
to go in that direction. Never.
No, never. A minority of people
who are a minority of whale lovers
who will get pissing. They were right all along.
The whale lovers were right all along.
Motherfuckers.
Yeah. So it's just, that's really what gets me,
Walt is just
I know.
But then again,
and then I do that.
And then what I'll do is I'll be like,
all right,
I'm just deleting Twitter and Instagram
off my phone again for four months.
And then I don't care about any of it.
I'm at that.
The Sydney Sweeney put me to the point where I'm like,
I have to get these apps off because I'm starting to notice what people say.
And I don't want to do that.
I don't want to do that.
Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue,
Walt,
still being published today.
The 2026 just came out.
Alex Earl, Tiffany Hadish.
Haddish.
Hattish.
Hillary Duff.
She's a comedian.
And Nicole Williams English.
Yeah, she was in that Eric Andre movie.
Yeah, yeah.
Bad trip, which is so fucking awesome.
It's so funny.
Bad trip is great.
Yeah, it's really good.
Yeah, so they're still doing it, Walt.
They're still out there publishing that man.
I mean, Marvel started to reprint, started the swimsuit.
In the 90s, yeah.
No, they brought it back.
It's back now.
It's back now?
Yeah.
Is it gratuitous cheesecake shots?
I didn't buy it back then.
I'm not going to buy it now.
I actually, I have to, I was buying everything.
I bought those, I brought those magazines.
Yeah.
Are they worth anything?
I don't think they're worth anything, but boy, yeah, what a waste of paper.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I called it Lizzo is in the Sports Illustrated.
Right.
And Lizzo should be in Swift.
Actually, she looks really good there.
She's in a digital cover.
Yeah.
Well, I think that's part of the thing.
She went back, she has backed off her body positivity thing and went on GLP ones.
I know people are mad at her.
Yeah.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, well.
She's not part of the fat team anymore.
Let me see here.
I got to, I made a promise.
I had a dinner party, Walt.
Ooh.
Yeah, I had a dinner party.
Fancy.
Pinkies up, everyone.
Yep.
Had, who was there, Chuck?
Oh, yeah?
The ambassador and his wife.
Okay.
Alex.
You know, Alex.
And Sarah, you know the girl with the pink hair?
She comes to everything related.
Yeah.
Related.
Yeah, they came over for,
and Marybeth cooked a Mexican.
Oh, wow.
She had some guts on it.
It'll cook Mexican.
With Alex there, I know.
Yeah, yeah.
He brought some salsa.
Oh, very cool.
And I invited get him, but I didn't hear back.
Why is that getting him?
I was, I had already had plans for.
So why don't you tell me?
What were your plans?
Why don't you just text me to be like, hey, man, thanks.
I was cooking something already.
Oh, yeah.
I did hear that that, that's assembly line up here with a fucking crock pot and rice and all this shit.
I don't understand, though.
Yeah.
And I, yeah.
And I, yeah.
And I knew Justin was going over.
He stopped in, so I just assumed it would get along to you.
Right.
Oh, that you had.
Yeah.
It did.
I didn't know what you were doing, though, with these crockpots and this assembly line of rice and food and all kinds of stuff.
What were you making chili?
Yeah.
Chili, okay.
Nice chili.
All right.
So that is more enjoyable for you than an evening with people talking, and you'd rather just be alone.
It was football and Chile and
What?
It was football and Chile and, you know.
Oh, it was a Sunday night?
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
We had a great time.
That was fun.
Oh, well, yeah, thank you for the invite.
Yep.
You got it.
Let's see.
You're watching lanterns?
I haven't watched it yet.
I heard good things.
Yeah.
Okay.
That didn't sound good.
There's good in there.
There's a lot of confounding why is this.
You're up to date on it?
No.
The third episode made me be like,
I'm just going to wait a little bit.
bit. Have you even tried to tackle
Reacher? It did finish less. Oh, no, I did. I watched
the first four episodes.
Oh, what you think? Great. Oh, it's
great. Doesn't stick to land. Really?
Oh, it's a bummer. Yeah, the last
episode is kind of like
bordering
onto silly and
so over-to-top, unrealistic.
Oh, no.
I'm not going to give up.
I just, I know this is not a
spoiler in a way, but... I know
how the season ends because it's how every season
Yeah, don't worry about it.
But the big baddie, you know how like at almost like a video game, like the big battle at the end of every story.
It involves, um, reach you having to take down two females.
Oh, okay.
And those two, those two Asian girls?
Yeah.
Oh, and they all chop suey and shit like go, oh, wow.
It sounds fun.
You're saying it's not, they don't, I don't know.
I still have a hard time believing that someone who weighs as much as, let's say my daughter.
Yeah.
I don't care how much fucking jihad.
too, she knows. If you're going up against somebody,
the bulk of Reacher
and he lands one, and he lands multiple
ones, you're not getting up.
I don't care how much fucking
Confucius say,
chop. We saw it with his neighbor.
But
it's so, but it's so fucking apparent
too that you, like
the producers of the show
are a little bit worried
that the taste in your mouth, they don't want to leave.
Orreach is just destroying
destroying women.
So at the end,
they have to fucking do a little bit of
PR to remind you
that Reach is a fucking awesome dude.
There's two instances.
At the end that you're like,
oh, okay, this is to make up for the fact
for the last half hour,
beat the shit of two women.
Here's like,
this guy's a great guy, though, even though he just did it.
Do you remember the shit,
did you remember the shit Schwarzenegger took
at the way they go through Terminator 40?
Or it's T3, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
She's a female robot.
It doesn't matter.
No, no, yeah.
And I think that that was something that the makers of Reacher had to consider.
And I believe that is exactly why there are two such forced things at the end that you're like, okay, I see what's going on here.
You want to hammer home that Reacher is a fucking beautiful human being.
That just kills bad people.
Did he save another dog in a yard?
Close.
Okay.
Close.
He saves an animal?
And a homeless woman.
Did he save a whale from a ship?
How do we find this?
How do we find balance to scales here?
Homeless woman and an animal.
That's the last thing we go out on on season five.
They're like, Nicole.
Isn't that my punisher?
Neely did not pop up.
Neal Lee did not pop up in this show at all.
But I know her new show just dropped.
All eight episodes dropped at once, unlike Reacher.
And I'm going to tackle that starting this weekend.
And I'm hoping that Reacher makes at least a cameo in it.
I know he does.
I know for a fact of it does.
So I was at this, I can't remember the name of the bar, I would say it, in London.
And this guy, I ended up talking to him, he was a Joker's fan.
But he was Reacher.
He was the dimension to Reacher.
And I even once I got talking to him a little bit, I even brought that up.
He's like, nah, he goes, I get it.
He's like, I get it all the time.
Because he is, he's like within like an inch, maybe of a minute.
bigger than the guy who plays Reacher.
Okay.
Giant.
And once I was talking to him a little bit, and I realized, like, my neck from his looking
hurting.
And I turned to my friend, then I was like, all right, we both watch Reacher.
He's like, yeah.
I'm like, in what world do you see me fighting this guy?
And he was like in no world.
It's just like, the thing of you just like, who would fight Reacher?
I'm telling you, no one would fucking fight Reacher.
Nobody wanted to stand next to this guy.
He was so fucking intimidating.
So Drunk Hugh wouldn't take him on.
No, if he did, he wouldn't be.
He's got to have.
Drunk Hugh 20 years ago.
I know.
Like, this is the mistakes he's talking about on you when you're 20s you make.
Some people bet because Sweeney, what's your name?
Sweeney,
Sweeney,
and he goes up with some beer muscles against a guy of the stature of Richard.
So your name's Richard, is it?
Even idiotic, 25-year-old drunk Q has enough, like, self-preservation to look at a guy like that and be like,
I'm not getting through this unless this guy wants me to live.
So you just can't do it.
It's like being around.
someone that big is just like, it's really
fucking intimidating, like the thought of like
scrapping with them. It actually made me
think you and Richard. That's why when I got him over London, I was
reminded of Lacher. Isn't it like
beautifully shot this season? It's great. I like
the city vibe. Yeah, it really is
a well-done show and I just
I get it though. They're a little scared
of what the novel,
I guess, I guess it's in the novel that, you know,
the big battle at the end is two chicks.
Okay. But
I get at this day and age, it is
You have to be a little concerned if you're putting out that kind of content and what the reaction's going to be.
He did fuck her first.
Yeah.
They mentioned it too.
She goes, I don't know what I'm going to enjoy more.
Fucking you are killing you.
Oh, really?
Oh, yeah.
I love it.
It's like they wrote the season for me because he says no once an episode.
I love it.
There is one kill.
No is the greatest thing.
In the finale, though, there is one kill by Richard that is like, it doesn't matter how bad, like the ending within.
they get that one kill is worth the
viewing of the last episode.
It's such a ingenious, just like,
oh, that's such a cool way to kill you.
A fucking bad guy.
A bad guy.
A bad man.
A bad man.
Bad person.
I started watching, I know we're just talking about TV shows now,
but did you watch Dark Manor?
It's an Apple TV show.
Okay.
It's fun.
I don't even want to say what it's about,
but it's really,
I think Wall
you would like it a lot.
It's a sci-fi.
It's smart, dumb.
You know what I mean?
They present the show the sci-fi.
Like it's smart than it is,
but it's also dumb enough.
They dumb it down.
That we can understand it.
It's smart enough that I feel smart,
that I'm following it.
They pull off a good trip.
And it's all sci-fi and alternate universes.
And you think I'd be sick of that by now,
but they do another spin on it that I'm like, that's pretty fucking cool.
It's a mini-series?
It's a second season just started.
Okay.
Dark matter.
Dark matter.
Yeah.
I will put it on my cue.
Yeah.
Cues Cue.
It's got Jennifer Connolly in it who somehow at age 55 is just, I mean, she looks better than.
Isn't she the one who went through your toll booth when you used to be a toll booth guy?
And you were like, wow.
Yeah.
When I was in my 20s, I was working the toll booth in the battery tunnel.
And I did it for a summer.
And it mostly, it was, it was the 11 to 6 a.m. shift.
And most of it was just me texting Brian until he fell.
asleep at like three in the morning.
But she would come through at night.
And I would, we got to, no, in the morning, rather, when she was headed into Manhattan, her
and Paul Bettney would come through because they're married.
And, you know, after a while, seeing the same people, like you get to know, you, you know,
and she was just fucking, I'd be like she's so stunning to look at.
Yeah.
Yeah, she drives through.
So.
Anyway, dark matter, yes.
All right.
Check it out.
Check it out.
I think you like.
All right.
Well, we got two minutes, Walt.
should we just call?
You want to call?
We have an interview.
Remember I spoke about it last episode with the publisher of Clover Press,
who now has the Marvel Masterworks.
Just a short little interview.
Just kind of let them talk about the Kickstarter.
I'll tell them when it comes on,
but I'm very excited about the release of these books.
It's my favorite all-time line of publications
and is so happy that it's coming back in a big, bad way.
What was the reason, when I brought up the Punisher to you,
you were like, they can't do it for some reason?
No, they could do it, but I think they are going to do it,
but there are so many little tiny appearances before he gets his own book.
That was it, and they have to get all those in that?
Yeah, they do a chronological order of appearances of the character in the masterwork.
So it's going to be amazing spider.
Man, a lot of issues, everything before he got his own book, before you even get to the first
Punisher number one, which the Mike Zek one.
Right, right.
Yeah.
They'll do it, though.
He's too big of a character not to do.
I bet you there, I betcha Clover is going to do it in the second wave.
That's how I'm asking that.
That's going to be my question for this interview.
I just want to make sure how stupid I was going to look at it.
No, there are no stupid questions, right, get him?
Well, only the ones not asked.
There you go.
Wow.
Our friend of mouth of 148.
Your call has been forwarded to voicemail.
The person you're trying to reach is not available.
Uh-oh.
You blew it.
You blew his big chance.
All right.
Maybe another, maybe another episode.
You'll try again five minutes.
Yeah, we'll try them in five minutes.
Yeah.
You know.
We got some ads to me?
Of course.
This has been a rough fucking two weeks for me.
And this is just like an icing on the cake.
I'm just talking about in general, like just been, it's been, uh, not, I don't want to say rough.
That's not, it's just been like a Charlie Brown kind of, uh, kind of couple weeks with,
my second job
and everything.
Oh, yeah.
It's been fucking shitty.
That sucks.
Or it could be awesome for us.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Stories are we going to get out of it?
It literally has made me a question like,
like maybe it wasn't a good decision to just take the easy route out
and become a comic bookstore manager in my 30s.
Maybe I should have learned a trade.
Oh, I hear you.
I think that all the time.
Maybe I could have been a plumber,
electrician,
It's not too late, I guess.
It is way too late.
Like, they're not taking me on as an apprentice at this age.
Yeah, I was going to say, Walt the apprentice.
Yeah, like, I was pondering every easy route I took one night door dashing just last week.
As I said, like, so I got, I'm out there and I have a goal that I said for myself every night.
And I got an offer that took up like a third of the goal.
And I was like, I don't care where I got a drive.
I said, I'm taking that.
You know, I got my, I got something I want to listen to on the radio.
And like a Lions podcast.
I was like, it's over an hour left.
I said, I'll just drive to this.
It's fine.
And but what it was, well, this could be him.
It's Hank.
I'll get back to that.
All right.
Hello?
Hey there.
Hey, Hank.
How's it going?
Good.
How are you?
Good.
I'm Brian.
You know Walt already.
No, you don't.
Yeah.
Oh, no?
I thought you guys had communicated, right?
No, no.
I haven't communicated with Hank until right now.
Oh, okay.
Oh, wow.
You got Q here.
Hello.
Hey there.
And get them.
Howdy.
Cool.
So we're here to talk about Marvel Masterworks, right, Walt?
Yeah, just, I just want to do a quick little interview, try to get the word out to our listeners.
I know for a fact that I talked about your kick.
Starter, or Clover's Kickstarter last week, and I converted at least one listener to back the Kickstarter, which is, it's launched.
As we saw that, someone said, thanks, Walt, for letting me know.
Oh, okay, cool.
And I want to also let you know, I am the 470th backer of the Kickstarter.
I'm a proud backer.
I am on board.
Oh, fantastic.
Thank you.
So, yeah, if you just want to give a quick, your.
For those of us that aren't aware of what.
of what you're doing over there
because you just sell it to us a little bit
because we want to spread help to throw the word.
All right.
Sure.
So a little while back,
Marvel had made the sad announcement
that they were putting the Marvel Masterworks line on hiatus.
And you could hear a collective groan
from all of us hardcore,
hardcover collectors who have been collecting this series.
Gosh, I mean, next year would be 40 years.
And so we reached out to Marvel.
saying, hey, you know, we understand that it might not have penciled out for you guys anymore,
but for a small outfit like us, we could make something like this work.
Do you think you'd be open to that?
And we sent them the email, and they had basically responded right away saying,
funny, you should mention that, because we're so happy with what we're doing with what
you're doing with the Marvel Art of books that we do for Marvel.
We were wondering if you would be interested in taking on Marvel Master Wars.
Oh, nice.
It was a really great timing for our query and their desire to actually find someone who could take on the line.
And then from there it was just a matter of working out all the details, putting a plan together, and here we are.
So now that you're the guy in charge, are you putting through characters that you wanted to see all along?
Are you like, now I'm the captain now, and now you get to do the characters that you want?
Well, we're very cooperative with Marvel.
So we put together a list.
We were working with Corey Settlemeyer, who's the editor who's working on the line when it was being published by Marvel.
And he had kind of a blueprint of what they were planning on doing.
But clearly what they were planning on doing wasn't something that they ended up doing.
So it was an opportunity for us to make some suggestions.
And to your point, kind of get some of our favorites in there.
One of Clover's guiding principles is we publish books that we like and we publish books that we want to see.
So we put forth a couple of suggestions.
And a lot of the masterworks depends on what material is available, how much needs to be remastered,
because a lot of these files, a lot of this art is not in great shape.
And a lot of it's perfectly fine and ready to go.
So it's the mixture of those two things.
but we were able to put forth a couple of our favorites and our asks
and we ended up getting those on the blueprint for the next couple of years.
The other thing, though, is you've got series that are already running.
So our first campaign, we kind of have a nice mix.
We have Supervillain Team Up, which is a new volume number one.
So if you've never collected a Marvel Mash work, this could be a great one to start with.
But we also wanted to make sure that the folks who had invested in the,
the other 389 volumes over 40 years weren't left hanging.
So we're finishing off the Tomb of Dracula series with the last volume, volume 6.
And then we are continuing the Mighty Thor.
This is Walt Simonson run.
This is the arc that has the Frog of Thunder.
Yeah, frog right?
Yeah.
And then we are starting up on Uncanny X-Men the Jim Lee run, where he had maybe popped in
to the series a couple times beforehand.
This is where he becomes the series regular with Chris Claremont.
So that's a great one.
And gosh, where are you, can I ask where you are on the Punisher?
Is that in your blueprint?
Yeah, it's on the map.
Absolutely.
It's coming up.
Oh, because that's when Walt started telling us about, you know, what you guys are doing over there
and the great, great work that you're doing and bringing back the line.
That was my first question.
I was like, oh, man, I hope they get to Punisher because he's one of my favorites.
He's definitely like top three characters.
Oh, absolutely.
Oh, yeah.
What are you looking forward to, Walt?
What are you hoping he does?
What do I?
Well, gosh, I mean, I have so many nerdy inside baseball questions that I don't know.
It's been throwing him at me all week if you'll even answer them.
But can I ask you a few questions?
Well, first off, the Kickstarter has launched, correct?
It has.
and you are ready at your,
what your goal, right?
You've already hit it?
Yes, we funded and we're storing past.
So we're doing good.
We can always be doing better, though.
So thank you for this opportunity.
And how do,
I guess,
I guess just go to Kickstarter and type in Marvel Masterworks.
Yes, it should come up with,
it should come up with no problem on that search.
Okay.
So I just have,
are there any,
is there any chance that
Clover will try to get Marvel TeamUp and include Marvel Team Up 79 the Red Sonia issue.
Yes, that is in the works.
That is in the work.
Why is that so important to you want?
Because Marvel Team Up 79 published and I guess 70, I guess it probably was in 1979
has a Red Sonia appearance when Red Sonia was licensed by Marvel since that issue.
publication done by John Byrne too in Claremont.
Since that issue was published though, Red Sonia now has a home at Dynamite.
So anything anybody does with Red Sonia, I guess you need to have, you have to have some
sort of negotiations with Dynamite who owns the rights to the character right now.
Is it a good issue?
It's one of the greatest Marvel team up issues ever.
Oh, wow.
Mary Jane Watson is transformed into Red Sonia.
Now this is what Comics for Comics.
I love it.
Well, it's right.
It becomes a rights issue, so we have to negotiate that, and Marvel has to be involved with that.
So it's not a done deal, but we're hoping.
Now, with the crowdsourcing and crowdfunding, like, you could even say, like, we need to hit this mark to get this issue published, right?
Yeah.
You could actually put out there, like, we need to hit this number to get Marvel Team Up 79 in,
in a Marvel Masterworks. I think that would be
the ultimate incentive to carrot on the stick.
If people know, like, hey, we hit this mark, we got it.
Right. Sure.
But it's less about the money and more about the rights, right?
Yeah. All right.
How about ROM? I know that if you're going to be doing any Hulk,
Power Man and Iron Fist, and Marvel 2 and 1, especially if you want to finish off Marvel
2 and 1, you've got to have ROM.
Is Marvel still got ROM or is that or is that lapse now?
as they say on Facebook it's complicated right so but but that is also in the works okay i thought i read
recently something about rom getting back to marvel or something like that yeah marvel did get
the rights back to rom they did a couple of beautiful omnibuses but as of yet i don't there has been
no rom appearance in any of the regular titles that would be masterworked okay just a few more
So I have a wish list.
And I know you can't say definitively yes or no, but can you be, can you give me like hope or no hope?
Give them a wink.
If I just throw out some volumes I'd love to see.
Because I'm a proud owner of all 389 Marvel Master's.
I do the marble variant, the marble covers.
So when you guys came back, I got to say it was, it was like almost like a religious
experienced to you know because I told I told my friends that like I don't know if I could even buy
another book ever again like with you know I felt like I should I should have just like stopped
collecting when Marvel announced they weren't doing these books anymore there was nothing left
for me it felt like in the world of comics so you were depressed for like a good two weeks yeah
all right so how about the son of Satan oh you know so you're you are now officially the six
person to ask wow oh that's that's a sign six yeah
6%
6262 more
660 you need to ask
That's the challenge
Because these books are not cheap to make
And as a result
To the price point on these are pretty high
But one of the reasons why
Marvel could not continue doing them
Is people have their favorites
But do enough people have that as a favorite?
So your number six on Son of Satan
I would imagine that that's a volume that would benefit from, hey, if we can make this number, we'll do son of Satan.
Because we would need a guarantee that we've got X number of people who are out there who actually want this.
Okay.
So there's hope.
There's hope.
There's hope.
Okay.
Here's one that may, this is a Hail Mary.
There's probably no hope, but I'd love to see it.
Red Wolf.
I would say never say never, but there's probably less hope for that.
I knew it.
I knew it was a.
Not even six people have asked about Red Wolf.
Only one.
Only one so far.
So you're number one on the list.
How many people have asked for Punisher?
Oh, hundreds.
Great.
Perfect.
Yeah.
I'm good, Walt.
Okay.
I only have two more.
Nova.
Hope.
Hope.
Okay.
Good to hear.
And I think this one's a no-brainer.
I think it's got to happen.
Moon night.
Oh, absolutely hope.
Awesome.
All right.
So, you know, I do want to point out that we're not just doing the Marvel Masterworks, the books alone.
The cool thing about doing a Kickstarter is we can do a whole bunch of archival extras.
So we've got some original art replicas that are representative of each of these books, including the, I don't know if you guys remember, I certainly do, the sales poster for the Frog Thor run.
There was a huge poster that was sent out to retailers to put in.
the stores. We've got the original art scanned from
a Walt Simonson's collection. And we're
reproducing that. We have a couple
covers. Is it the frog with the hammer
swinging, like in the arc over? Yeah, I know what you're
talking about. That's great. You remember that? And it's like, you know, what are
they doing to Thor? So we're reproducing that, which is fantastic.
I want to point out, something that's never been done with
mash works up until now is we're doing signed editions. So
each one of these will be signed by a key person on the run.
So our X-Men book is signed by Chris Claremont.
Our supervillain team-up is signed by Steve Englehart,
Tomb of Dracula, signed by Marv Wolfman,
and then Walter Simonson doing Thor.
So those are special editions that you can opt in on.
That's cool work, man.
I mean, it sounds like you're doing the Lord's work to me.
I really mean that.
Before we let you go, can you tease?
Can we get any kind of an exclusive here on
or just even a hint on the second wave of the masterworks that you guys will be doing.
Any hints?
So, yeah, one of them will be a first volume of an X-Men-related series.
So we'll be starting a new series with a new volume number one.
X-Caliber?
I think X-Factor.
We're just guessing.
We're trying to stir the pot for you.
I think X-Factor.
Or new mutants.
New Mutants chronologically.
would come before X Factor and
I had more fun reading out Excalibur.
Yeah.
Alan Davis.
Certainly a few,
uh,
a few choices.
Oh.
I do want to wish you the most success with this venture and I,
I sincerely,
sincerely hope it's a massive financial
windfall for Clover Press.
And if I could just,
I would,
I could sleep at night.
If you,
I could sleep at night.
If you could just,
just tell me that you are definitely, without a doubt,
going to finish Warwolf by night in the Master.
There's only one volume left.
If I could get just, it's going to happen.
It would be like, you could add years to my life.
He needs it.
He's had a rough couple of weeks.
I will give you the answer of there's hope.
There's hope.
It's not definitive.
That's not enough to make me feel like getting off the ledge, though.
He's telling you this.
Is there anything more?
you can say.
You'll have to have me back on the show so I can get it more definitive as we go along.
All right.
All right.
Well, thank you for your time.
Thank you.
Thanks so much, though.
Thank you.
All right.
I appreciate it, guys.
Okay.
Bye.
Take it easy, buddy.
All right.
Wow.
Wow. I couldn't get him to say definitively.
No.
Yeah.
He doesn't want to commit to it.
There's hope, though.
There's hope, yeah, but.
You want more than that, right?
You want, you want, like, oh, I'm working on it right now.
It's funny you should mention that.
Yeah.
Do we have any ads?
Yeah, you want to do the ad first?
Oh, can I do an ad for Bruce Campbell?
Can I tell people to go see his movie?
Yeah.
Ernie and Emma, he's doing a tour right now at the Alamo Draft House.
The movie's great.
Bruce does a Q&A afterwards.
It's fucking awesome.
They're probably all sold out already, but, you know, I would say go to Bruce's
Instagram, which I think is Shimp Malone, and he has it all there.
Or mine, it has it there too.
Because the movie is worth seeing.
It's really, really well done.
and that man is worth supporting to the moon and back.
And that's my free ad for Bruce Campbell.
Can I stick in a free ad?
Yeah.
Come check out our eBay page.
It's a T-E-S-D-T-E-S-D-General store.
You know, T-E-S-D, Town General Store.
We're putting up stuff every week, you know, exclusive things, sign things.
Yeah.
Oh, cool.
What's up with the $2 bills everywhere?
That's the thing I'm doing.
It's just one of those get them quirks.
But they're all.
over the office. I walked in there was like this
just the way he rolls.
But why, accepting it to get a thing, why is there a stack of
$2 bills on the... Because I just got up from the bank today, so...
But what are you doing? What's the get-em thing?
It's just something I'm doing.
I'll tell you all.
Owning money? I don't see what you mean. Something you're doing.
This is something I do to, just
be so somebody will ask me.
Mission accomplished. You fell for it.
Yeah, you fell for it.
All right. All right.
Guys, what do women want? Indeed.
Stability?
Masterworks.
Yes.
Masterworks.
Where we'll find
Final edition.
Kickstarter.
If you kickstart,
if there's
any listener who kickstarts,
mention TSD.
I don't know if you,
I guess you can leave comments,
right?
Yeah,
there's comments on the Kickstarter.
Mention TSD.
Well,
he said he already got one.
Yeah, I know.
We need more to one
to become a podcast
that's a mover
and shaker in the world of comics.
Yeah, I'm going to have to do it.
I'm going to have to jump in
on this Kickstarter.
Yeah.
And then if you tweet it out
under your,
I'll do it.
Yeah.
That's a loan is
going to.
I don't know.
You don't think you have the gravitas?
I don't think I really nurture social media to be the guy that people look, yeah, I don't really do it.
Suddenly you come on, you're like, hey, buy this.
Yeah, yeah.
People are like, yeah, all right, dude.
But I'll try it.
Okay, we know that guys, we know that women want and need Masterworks.
But also, be her rock with Bluetooth.
They're sponsoring the podcast and sponsoring your bedroom performance.
That's right, Bluetooth.
The only thing that makes me harder than Masterworks.
is Blucho.
His blue show?
All right.
He went from thinking
about Spider-Man
to not finish him.
Spider-Ban
be the only thing
that can get him started.
What a journey.
Is that a hard cover Masterworks?
I'm hard as I'm a hardback.
Is that Mary Jane
in a red sonia outfit?
You're putting on a show.
Your wiener is no longer
just an organ.
It's a star athlete.
You're like a slugger in the 90s.
Juiced up and ready
to knock it out of the park
and break a record.
It's time to make your bedroom
noise again.
says, hello, neighbors, like a bedpost knocking against the drywall at 2 a.
It's such a weird analogy, the villainized baseball players who almost ruined the sport.
Yeah, it is strange, isn't it?
I was thinking of the same thing.
That wasn't, like, viewed favorably, right?
It's a scandal.
It's the asterisk.
It's all over the fucking time.
Remember when you were young and getting hard was easy.
Yeah.
You could look at one page of good housekeeping or a shapely tree stump and be ready to go.
Well, Bluchu brings all that back.

One thing that's become part of that reset is Raycon's essential open earbuds.

Just one more thing is the wannabes.
They asked me, if Justin Kyle asked me to read something for him,
on Friday, October 2nd, what's his name, Maxwell,
is having a wrestling event.
Yeah.
Almost when, but I'm going to see Jim Norton with Troy on this October 2nd,
so I couldn't go.
There's a four-color demon ant moot.
It's a meetup at the Down Arcade at 6 p.m.
It's 1113th Street in Birmingham, Alabama.
Nice.
I know they've recruited Jeff, Sunday, Jeff, to make a video message for them.
He's going to be recording it soon.
Oh, that's great.
Yeah, that's dollar shave.
Oh, nice.
Oh, is that what that's out there for, the jack and stuff?
Every Sunday makes it was way down here.
I've got to film him as Dollar Shave.
Oh, nice.
It's been a long time since we've seen Dollar Shave.
Yeah.
I don't know if Jeff knows this yet, but...
So it's Saturday, October 3rd, the retinal wrestling event.
Doors are at 530 shows at 6.
The All-Good beverage company.
In Alabama?
In Alabama, Birmingham, Alabama.
Oh, okay.
Road trip, Walt?
Yeah, no, I don't think so.
Yeah, so Google Retinal wrestling.
That's pretty far, Alabama.
Yeah, it's a little bit far.
You're right.
Let's see what else we got here.
Oh, you were telling your story, Walt.
Oh, yeah, yeah, about...
just kind of wondering if, you know, this is a viable.
Why you're not plumbing right now.
So where did I leave up?
I said I got like a good offer.
It was like a third of what I needed.
You were going to listen to your podcast.
Yeah.
So I didn't care where it was.
It was almost like I'm not even going to look where I got to go for 30 bucks.
Yeah.
I don't care.
I know it's going to be far because you don't usually get offers of $30 unless you've got to go pretty.
far out of your way.
Okay.
And then while I'm,
while I'm driving to get where I got to go,
to pick up,
it was two alcohol orders.
Well,
one came in,
a second order came in while I was driving.
It said,
we could add this to your route
if you want another order.
It's another additional $5.
I'm like,
well,
if this is on the way,
I said,
yeah,
absolutely,
why not?
But I thought it was weird
that it was at a different,
um,
liquor store that I had to pick up
at two different liquor stores.
I don't get,
fuck, who cares, you know, whatever.
So I pick it up, but it was only worth $5, though.
So I got back in the car and then I, you know,
it's the surprise to surprises when I click on the phone
and it was like the fucking liquor store is in,
it's on Route 9 in like, I don't know where,
but I would be going to fucking up to Rutgers.
Oh my God.
Spend more in gas than you'd be making.
Yeah, I'm like, I'm going all the way up 18.
up to Rutgers and I'm like oh well I mean I already accepted it you know I knew it was going to be far
it's it's 35 bucks you know whatever maybe I'll get something on the way back and it'll be it'll work
itself out as I'm driving there though my phone rings and it's this liquor store I'm on my way to
and they're like hey when are you going to get here and I was like well I'm on the way I don't know
how long I mean the phone says I'm because I have to pull over to take the phone call and I said
it's probably like nine minutes away.
He goes,
yeah,
well,
I'm closing.
I'm not waiting.
Oh,
my God.
And I'm like,
all right,
well,
I don't know.
Like,
well,
then you're going to have to cancel it,
I said.
Yeah.
And when they canceled it,
though,
that was the,
that was the $30 order.
Oh,
and I sat there and I realized that.
I was like,
oh my God,
so where,
wait are I got to go
for this person.
I had to wait and see where I had,
and it was,
that's what it was.
And then she was up by Rutgers.
Oh,
Jesus.
So I had to drive a bottle of alcohol to Rutgers for five bucks.
Jesus Christ.
Did you lose more in like tolls and gas?
I didn't take I took 18 all the way up.
I took 18 all the way up.
And 18 is a fucking nightmare.
Yeah.
It's like a light every 30 feet.
There's a light.
So I'm just sitting there stopping and stopping.
It took forever.
And I'm just sitting there going, this is fucking madness for five bucks.
Like this is not like I feel like I'm being taken advantage of by DoorDash.
Like they should, just because it's not my fault that that store closed, I should get the money.
I was on my way there.
Yeah, committed to it.
I was committed to it.
I was committed to it.
I was committed to it.
Yeah.
Now, can you, if you accept something, can you then turn around and cancel it?
Like if you're like, I, you know.
My daughter said I should have, but.
Yeah.
I just continue on.
I was like, all right.
So then what do you do with the alcohol?
I gave it.
I didn't get there to get to say.
If you cancel.
Oh, yeah, I got to bring it back then.
Oh.
Okay.
Yeah.
So that was one instance.
And then there was another instance, again, where I'm sent to Best Buy, the electronics store to pick up, I get that a lot, Best Buy.
A lot of people need cables delivered.
And I'm just like, how to fuck the people not have these cables?
Like, if you got all the other equipment, how do you not have the cables?
But it constantly be getting cables and delivering them to, a lot of to hotel rooms.
I guess people who stay in hotel rooms.
Oh, that makes sense.
Yeah.
Yeah, because they're hooking their other one, I hook their laptop up to the TV.
Yeah, and so I'm in Best Buy, and I'm looking for it, and another order comes in.
A second order comes in.
Like, it's at Best Buy.
I just got to pick up another thing at Best Buy.
And I'm like, all right, I'll do it.
I'm here anyway.
So I find the thing that the cable, I finally find it.
It took me forever to find it.
And then I find out with the second item is because they don't tell you until you're done with the first one.
It's a fucking 55-inch television.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
A 55-inch television.
How could they not let you know?
You might not have the...
Exactly.
I didn't.
I did have my Jeep, but I had all shit in the back.
Oh, that's nuts.
Yeah, I have a picture of it online.
I like, I'm like, I don't know where...
No.
You're fucking...
Oh, there.
It's right there.
Oh, wow.
So it's not heavy, so it's not like I'm lugging a lot of weight around, but it's...
It's also I got to wait now as I...
I tell the person that at Best Buy, I'm like, yeah, I got to get this television.
Yeah, well, all right, well, hold on.
You're going to have to wait until he gets somebody goes in the back and gets it.
It was fucking half hour for the person to bring the television out.
And how much that person fucking gave me to deliver our TV?
How much?
Five bucks.
Five bucks.
Five bucks to deliver a television.
That's fucking crazy.
That's being taken advantage of it.
Yeah.
That's nuts.
If you could fucking order a TV, you can afford to pay more than have a delivery.
That's insulting.
$5 is ridiculous.
Yeah.
It was like, it's that.
And then there's, you can't.
one other thing that it was just like one thing on top of another was I mean dollar general I'm
sure you guys have never been in dollar general only one we're gooning that's right you know what it's
I forgot all about that but every time I go into dollar general I'm like this feels like I'm in another
dimension yeah this store is not on planet earth this is a store that like has its own like
like dark matter yeah I feel like I've traveled into a different fucking
time and era and and and fucking dimension at times because the lighting is weird.
The AC is at like double zero.
It feels like it is so cold in there.
But all their freezers are not really working up to snuff or the food.
So I'm in there looking for something and they don't tell me what the aisle it is and they only
show me a picture of the brand, the logo that's on the brand.
And it's called an imperial spread.
Do you know what imperial spread is?
No.
Do you know what it is?
No, I never heard of it.
And I'm like, what is imperial spread?
I don't know what that even means.
Like, what is a spread?
Like, for bread?
Like, like.
I never even heard the phrase spread.
Crackers?
That is the one thing when I'm sitting there and going, okay, when I went to the person at the counter, I'm like, hey, I just doesn't sound crazy.
I said, but what's imperial spread?
And I look at it at me
Like it's for
It's to put on
It's a spread
He goes you put it on food
He goes
I was like oh it's a food I said
So I was like
Oh I think you put it on crackers
Right
So I go by the potato chips
I go by the
You know I'm looking for like
You know those little salsa jars
Yeah right
I'm looking at everyone
I'm like none of them say spread
None of them say spread
And finally I asked a customer
Some lady
I was like this lady's probably gonna know
She's a mom
She looks like
And he's like
Oh yeah
It's a butter she goes
Oh
I'm like oh
I think you know
that head slap, you know, that when you hit you smack your forehead.
Fuck, it's butter.
So I go to the, to the cooler.
And I've been in there 35 minutes.
Jesus Christ.
Because nobody will help you.
Like, no, like, and it's, it's just maddening.
So I go there and I finally find it.
But when I grab it, I'm like, this does not feel right.
I know it.
It's so soft.
It's like, it feels like, it feels like a squishy ball.
Like you do for, like, you know, for anxiety.
Yeah.
So I'm like, all right, whatever.
But I also had other things in the cart, though.
So I go up and pay for it and I put everything in the, you know where a kid sits in the cart and they put their legs through?
Yes.
And so the kid is facing you in a cart.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
And their legs are like their knees are out and their feet are dangling.
I put all the items that I had purchased for this person in that area.
I didn't put it down in the bottom.
So as I'm leaving.
the store, I hit the little bump that you go over.
And I didn't really, I didn't think I hit it that hard.
But when I took a step outside, it felt like I stepped on something.
It felt like I stepped on a baby's head.
Oh, no.
I felt like I stepped on like a child's head.
And I look down and I look and I see like the spread, the imperial spread all over the ground.
After you checked out?
After I checked out.
And so it's all over the bottom.
bottom of my shoe and my feet's all slippery and I'm like
motherfucker. So I'm like, let me go
to the guy and just be like, hey, I stepped on the spread. He's like,
maybe he'll get me another spread. I can go take another spread?
And I was like, I go, I fucking stepped on the spread. I go,
he goes, is there more he goes? I go, yeah, he goes. He goes, all right,
we'll just bring it up. So I bring it up and then he brings it up.
I thought he was going to give it to me for free.
So I lost like a dollar, there's only $1.79 or whatever.
But it's still the principle.
Yeah.
Like, yeah, so that was, it, it's just been like, I don't know if it's, I don't know if it's working out though.
Yeah, that would bug me because I would be like, all right, minutes of my life are ticking away.
It's like fucking go and lose $1.79.
But you know what?
I had the idea.
My wife brought it up.
She was like, you've always been saying that you have this all your, all the artwork you did for the comics.
I've been sitting on it.
She said you're going to save it for years.
Your retirement.
She goes, I think it's time.
She's not wrong.
So I'm going to, what I'm going to do is I, and I don't feel it kind of goes against my, like I didn't want to go to the ants to like, I need this or I buy this.
No, this is this.
Like if I put this on eBay, I think it'll hit more than just.
For sure.
There's people who buy original art.
Yeah.
Because it's original comic book art from legitimate series.
Right.
I'm not relying on just
listeners to be like, oh, only
they'll buy it. Like, there's other people
that buy it. Well, it's something that has known value
in the world. Yeah. Yeah.
What you got here?
So I've got, I'm going to list
this week. I'm only going to do like three or four
a month. Just to get you out of that.
Just to maybe just not do so much
door dashing. I know people like it though, but
it's killing me.
It's sucking my soul out.
That was a crack of truth.
Slipped out right there, man.
So that first piece, that usually, I saved everything.
Yeah.
I put everything into a tote.
I didn't really throw anything away.
So I have things that are not just, like, pages of art that were published.
I have sketches.
So it's, like, things that might go for, like, that won't go for a lot of money, but, like, you know, if it only goes for 10 bucks, it's like, you know.
That's two dashes right there.
Yeah.
That's somebody.
who gets a piece of artwork, you know, for a nice price.
And you don't have to go to Rutgers.
Yeah, you don't have to deliver a 55-inch TV.
So I got the very first sketch I did of the very first Patreon gift we offered, which is the Joker statue.
The Joker poster wearing the TSD three heads.
Yeah.
And he's holding an iPod laugh.
And it's on a what would you call it, 8 by 10 paper?
Yeah.
And it's just a pencil and marker sketch.
It's rough, but I thought it was interesting.
Yeah, it's cool.
Oh, yeah.
I thought it was at least unique.
And speaking of really unique,
I've never mentioned this,
I've ever told anybody,
I don't like the listeners, you know it probably,
but when we were working on Carney in 2005,
2004, 2003,
the comic book for IDW,
before it found a home at IDW,
Sunday Jeff was going to ink it.
It was going to ink more pencils.
First time I'm hearing of this.
Yeah.
So Sunday Jeff started inking Carney,
but when me and Brian sold Cardi to IDW in 2005,
they only had the pencils to look at and say that if they wanted it or not.
I didn't have any ink pages to show them.
And when they agreed upon it,
I told them I had somebody working on inking it,
and they said, well, the pencils are tight enough.
I don't think we need anybody to ink it.
Now, they may have been the truth or may have been like,
we don't want to pay a third person.
You know, to work on this.
So they said that they would just shoot it from my pencil.
So if you buy a piece of Carney artwork, the reason it's not inked is because...
Carney was never inked.
Carnie was not inked.
They just colored it from the pencils.
But I have a Sunday Jeff inked page that was...
It's never published.
Oh, right on.
Looks good.
But it's my pencils on Sunday, Jeff inked it.
This has got to be back in 2003, 2002.
It was great.
I know the page, too.
It looks really good.
But yeah, this is something that I thought was pretty unique.
And again, like, again, I'm getting into that charity.
I don't want ants to buy it.
Who else cares, though?
Sunday Jeff.
But I am going to put it in description, though, is it, you know, that it was definitely
what, it did not get published, though.
I do want to be clear about that.
But that's the original artwork.
It is original artwork, but it's not the original, that's not the page that's in the storyline.
Right, okay.
I had to redraw it as just pencils.
Oh, so obviously, I got you.
You know what I'm saying?
I had to turn in a different version of this page.
But this version is the Sunday Jeff version.
And the only one, the only few pages that he inked before I told him that, you know, hey, you don't have to ink it.
Right.
And my last page is the pencils for Cryptozov Man issue two before Wayne Jansen digitally painted it.
This is the artwork that he, the pencils that he painted over digitally.
It's fucking wild.
And if anyone wants to find them, the link will be in the show notes on Reddit.
On Reddit.
Yeah, well, it's going to be on the eBay page.
People are going to, yeah, so people don't hitch up.
So three pieces.
And I know what also I hate doing is setting a price, though.
I hate saying like, oh, this is worth this much of it's mine.
I can't stand that.
So I'm starting everyone off at a buck.
Whatever it goes to, it goes to.
And I don't have to be like that weird kind of like awful.
like, well, I think this is worth 100.
Sure, right.
It'll get where it's going to get.
Yeah, it'll get there organically on its own.
Sometimes that'll work out for me.
Sometimes it may not work out.
Like, I hope for more, but that's just the way the fucking ball bounces.
It's got to be better, though, than fucking, you know, having, you know, going up to Rutgers at 10 o'clock at night.
And we try to end the auctions on Sundays so that it's, you know, people are more likely to be at home.
So it's not like you're at work trying to bid with people.
And maybe I can get you guys to sign the Joker piece.
For sure.
Sure.
Okay.
All right.
That was it.
All right.
Walt, you indirectly helped pull a prank.
My buddy, Cardiff Electric, I've talked about him in the past.
He's a guy he streams on YouTube and he has a potato filter.
I don't remember anything.
Yeah, I've talked about him in the past.
But he's a listener and he listened to the episode where you were telling different stories.
And one of the stories was that you went to the pizza.
a place and they had a reward system and they never told you.
Somehow Cardiff convinced his podcasting partner to tell that story as if it were his own
and he did it. The guy did it. And then Cardiff revealed it that his podcasting buddy was a fraud.
And now everybody's going to him and be like, hey, tell me about that time you assassinated
Kennedy. Tell me about this time. And they'll bring up all these stories that obviously
had nothing to do with Rocco. It was just going. Yeah. Yeah. So you helped, Walt. Do you not
get it? He wasn't telling the story.
to like this is a, like he told it as if it happened to him.
Yes.
Oh, not in a, in the guise of like one true or three.
Can you find this story that was, or like, hey, hey, this happened to me.
Also, I found the Lindberg baby.
Like his lies got more and more.
Well, his lies did it.
It's the people that like chat in.
They would be like, hey, tell us about the time that you found the Lindberg baby or killed him or whatever.
Oh, okay.
I thought you meant he was just like up in his lying game.
No, no.
He was.
And so has he come clean?
He came clean
And he was just like, I don't know why I did
But I thought it was amazing
And this is a potato saying this?
Yeah, as a guy with a potato filter
What did you say?
What podcast is this on?
This is on
Bedabler.
The Bedbler podcast.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like Cardiff a lot.
He's a funny guy.
And did you know that he was going to do it?
Yeah, he messaged me and he said,
Hey, can you help me pull a prank?
So then I went after he did it.
So he pranked himself?
No, he pranked his buddy.
Rocco. It's on the same podcast, yes. But he
So he intentionally told the story knowing he would get called out? No. So Cardiff
told. Who's the potato? Cardiff. That's Cardiff. Just call him just calling potato.
Okay. The potato told Rocco, who's his podcasting partner. Okay. That this happened to him. To tell this story as if it happened to him. He's like, this is a good story. Just tell this story. And I don't know why Rocco wasn't like, well, why do you want me to tell the story that didn't happen to me? But he went ahead and did it. Okay. And then the potato
called him out and then now everybody else is calling him out too as a liar and a fraud so he set him up brought
him he set him up to lie sandbag them yeah okay yeah it amused me i thought that was funny uh what else do
we got here that might be oh i did want to ask you though if somebody loves everything do they
really love anything jimmy what what makes something i'm talking about him because i was just saying
this is somebody else the other day he uh he uh he follows somebody that i
also follow on Instagram.
Yeah.
Now, I hate follow this person.
Okay.
He evidently love follows this person because they are putting out the corniest fucking shit on their
Instagram account.
Okay.
And Jimmy just likes it.
And I even text them, I was like, how could you like this corny shit?
He's like, I love it.
It's funny.
And I'm telling you it is objectively not funny.
But I think that is Jimmy's, I know at least for me, it's his, it's his positivity and his energy
and his enthusiasm for everything that is contagious.
Like, I think I, like, we need more of that way.
I think we're, I think this room is too cynical at times.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think that we can fall on the other side and, you know, kind of like, hate too easy.
It's easier to hate, harder to love.
I would agree with that.
Everything.
Yeah.
And that is contagious.
And that is like, it's a good ying to the yang at times.
See, I don't feel like it's affected me at all.
Like, I hear that shit.
You don't like soak up that fucking, that energy when he's in the room and he, like, loves everything?
I do like when we do the catalog shows.
Because he does seem to be very informed about that shit.
And he does love it all.
Like to say, oh, everything sucks would not really work for the show.
But this kind of shit where I'm just like, come on, bro.
Like, come on.
This is so fucking, like, not funny.
I just, and I don't want to expose the person I'm hate because I like them too.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Wow.
What a wicked webb you.
I know.
I'm a quandary over here.
I don't know what to do.
But you don't even like to see other people like things.
No.
That is what's really at play here.
You don't like to see other people enjoy things, though.
Right.
Well, I can take people enjoying some stuff.
But like, if I think, if I look at this and I'm like, like I said, the cue, this is objectively corny and unfuny, then I have to start questioning the person who likes it.
Like, I question their taste, you know?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, I think you started questioning his taste when he proclaimed his love for the movie
Bros.
Oh, Bros.
Yeah, he even likes Bros.
Bros.
It's a movie about, like, this gay couple.
Like, it's a total gay movie.
It's not even like, oh, there's a gay guy.
Oh, this is, I know, Billy Eichner's movie?
I don't know.
I don't know.
I have been, it.
Maybe, I don't know.
Maybe it was a good story.
Yeah, it was a good, a rom-com for.
Could have been Billy Echner, yeah.
Yeah.
A rom-com for a new age.
For dudes.
For gay dudes.
What's Jimmy, though?
You can appreciate good storytelling, even if it's not a hetero couple.
Oh, fucking Apollo and Midnighter are awesome, dude.
Right.
Yeah.
So, I mean, me and Q love that.
Yeah.
Are you going to put a shit on us?
Yeah.
Not a funny of a shit now.
Later on when you guys leave, though, I'll be talking to get them.
Before we go, I did want to, I did have one other thing.
I wanted to ask you guys if I should be worried.
lately I've been having dreams
and I'm being visited by people have passed on
a lot
Really?
People you knew or like Ben Franklin?
No, it's all people that I've known.
And pets.
Oh, well, that's fun.
Yeah, but it's on, it's like every night.
They're rolling out the red carpet field.
That's why I'm like, oh my God, am I going to die?
Are they telling me that like to get ready?
because I'm going to be joining them.
Come to the light.
It is really.
I'm not fooling around.
It's like on a scary level.
Like I dream a lot, but these dreams are concerning.
They're not scary.
Like my father-in-law, who passed away, I don't know,
got to be over 10 years now.
I'm at home and I'm sitting there at the table and he just sits down and he starts
talking to me and over his shoulder I see that the Lions game is on and they scored a touchdown
and I look and I go I kind of like oh yeah the Lions just scored and he goes I'm here from
heaven to talk to you and you're more worried about this football game yeah well if you knew me
then you know and I kind of was like I kind of got like I felt ashamed in my dream yeah
that you know like oh my god yeah well like I'm sorry I had to apologize should be asking him
questions. Yeah, and he wasn't mad. He just kind of was like, hey, bro, come on. Perplexed.
Yeah, I'm like, come on. I'm here to talk to you. I'm here to convey some sort of message
and you're watching the football game. And then the other one was Rob Bruce. Oh. I am,
I'm looking through some magazines. I'm looking for a certain picture, like a certain angle or a
certain body position because I'm drawing something and I need to see see it in my head.
I can't visualize it.
And I'm looking through magazines and all of a sudden Robert comes up and he goes,
oh, that magazine's worth a lot of money or starts talking about the magazine.
And I'm like, I'm kind of blown away that he's there.
And I'm like, I'm asking where he's been.
And he's like, oh, don't worry about it.
He starts to laugh he does.
He just starts laughing.
Then I have my mother-in-law come.
Jesus.
Yeah, it is.
Like, I'm not fucking around.
It's really, really weird.
And then socks came.
one day and one dream and it really unnerved me where I'm like, is this something that I should
be concerned about that I keep dreaming of people that have passed on or beloved pets.
Maybe it's another angle to pick it up on Walt would be, you know, you've been having,
you just said the last two weeks have been like kind of existential crisisy for you and stuff
like that.
So maybe these beloved figures are coming out to like remind you.
It's like, nah, man, you didn't mess anything up.
You like, look at all these all stars you had in your life and, you know, these are all great
people and remember the love and joy that you had, not just the imperial spread on the bottom
of your shoe.
Could be that.
You know, you are the, you're the guy that, you are amazing and you're, that's why it's, it's
awesome to have you in my life because you always put a great spin on things.
Oh, cool.
Well, yeah.
You do.
You always.
I feel like I'm sitting here with Jimmy Sunshine.
You, there, like, there's nothing that you, for your friends.
that you won't take and spin to be like, don't worry about it, man.
It's great.
I know what I appreciate that.
You should get him when he's not on, Mike.
There's not a lot of spinning going up.
We're all complicated people.
We're all complicated people.
Yeah, but that's just what I, like, and last night, though, thankfully,
no dreams of any people have moved on.
But yeah, it was kind of like, I didn't even want to tell my wife the dot too
concern her, though.
So I'm just kind of like, this is weird.
Yeah, I think you take it up from the other handle.
You'll be happier.
Yeah.
Not you're going to die soon, which if it's going to happen,
it's not you can do about it anyway.
Wouldn't you think, would that crush your mind know?
If, like, if you kept having these dreams, you'd be like,
Oh, it's the first thing that pushed your mind in.
I'm not crazy.
You're not crazy.
But I think if you just think about it, another couple of steps,
it doesn't have to be that.
Right.
That's the fear.
That's the fear response, you know?
Yes.
And you got to get, you got to look at it from different angles.
Well, the last time, like, I've had some truly amazing, wonderful, comforting dreams of people who have passed on, have come back.
Yeah.
And I do believe it was legitimate.
I don't believe it was dream.
Okay.
I'm one of the, I do fall into that category.
I know people will be like, oh, boy.
Well.
He's a loon.
But I can't believe.
I believe, though, that I have had contact with people who have come to visit me after passing on.
I know for a fact, I'm 100% fucking, I know every fiber of my body is that Cooper came back to tell me that Teddy was coming.
Okay.
I never heard this before.
Oh, yeah.
Did you?
Yeah, I told you it was the day before Father's Day, the night before Father's Day.
I had a dream that I was at the stash.
I can't even tell you many times I'm at the stash working in my dreams.
Yeah.
The old, the real stash.
Oh, gee.
I'm there.
I'm working and I felt something brush up against my feet.
I look down.
It's Cooper.
And I'm just like, oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
Like, Cooper's back.
Cooper's back.
And I was like, I keep talking to him.
Like, where were you?
Where were you?
Where have you been?
You know, and he says, all happy, go lucky.
And I tell Mike, I'm like, I got to go home.
I got to go show Deb.
that Cooper's back.
I put him in the,
and I,
when we're walking to the car
in the back parking lot,
I noticed he has a long,
um,
straw like,
um,
piece of wheat,
like stuck in his paw because he's kind of,
he's kind of limping a little bit.
Okay.
And I stepped on it,
so it pulled it out.
And then he starts walking perfectly to the car.
I get him in the car.
We're driving home.
I could smell the fucking air.
I can feel the wind with the,
with the,
with the window open.
And he's looking at everything we're going home.
I keep asking him,
like, so where were you?
And he, obviously, he's
not talking or anything.
And I get home and I fucking run
upstairs and I, my
wife is in the bedroom
and the dog, Cooper starts
going towards him and she starts
crying.
And she's like, it's
awesome, it's wonderful, she goes, but it's not Cooper.
And I look down and it
wasn't Cooper. It was a different French bulldog. I couldn't
tell what he looked like, but it wasn't
Cooper though. It was a different
dog. The next day I'm telling her this story, we're eating pizza. I'm crying in a pizza parlor
telling it. And Michelle texted me and goes, Teddy needs a home.
That's amazing, man. Yeah. That's pretty crazy. That's why there's no doubt about it that
I believe that was a hundred percent something spooky and supernatural.
Can't discount it. I mean, other people would be like it's just a dream, but. Yeah, I had something
similar happened once where, and this was, this was in my 20s, I was, I guess, 23 maybe,
and I was having a discussion with my mom the night before. I might have told this story before.
And we were talking about God and I was like, I don't know, Mom, we believe in this God stuff.
And she's like, she said something to the effect of, which all religious people say, which is like,
you know, it doesn't matter if you believe in God, he believes in you. And she goes,
Jesus loves you. She's like, that's all you have to know, Jesus loves you. So, right,
so I got on the stand on a ferry to go up to John Jay College the next day. And at the time,
were like now when you get on the
Staten Island Ferry they let everybody off
first and then they open the doors
and then let everybody on. But this was
the late 90s. They didn't do it then.
They just opened the doors and everybody
passed each other on the way in and out.
So it's like you were dodging through
a crowd that was coming in and out
and, you know, it got fucking tight
on those ramps. And I was thinking
about what my mother had said to me and stuff
like that. And the second I thought
of my mom saying to me, Jesus loves
me, a guy comes out of
the crowd grabs me.
This is a fucking 100% true story.
Looks me in the eyes. It goes, Jesus loves you.
And then fucking got on the ferry boat.
That is a, look, tell me I don't have goosebumps.
It is a 100% true fucking story that I've never been able to.
What year is this?
This is, uh, just, it was John Jay.
I went to like one class there back in the late 90s, 98, 90s, something like that,
maybe 97.
And it was fucking, I, all these years later, I've never been able to even come up with
a non
not supernatural, but you know what I mean,
reason for it. Because coincidence
will only take you so far. Yeah.
I mean, that's in a very specific conversation.
At a very specific point in the conversation,
a guy singles me out and
maybe he didn't put both hands on me.
But he, you know, he just did that and looked right in my eyes
and said, Jesus loves you.
And what'd you say?
And it's just, he just kept going.
Like, you can't stop because the crowds are flowing.
What do he look like?
He looked like.
It's like, it's hard for me to remember.
He did have, he was wearing, like, a suit.
I don't remember what color.
So he was wearing a suit.
So it wasn't just like some guy who was just like, you know.
You're a crazy guy.
No, no, it was a dude.
I remember he had black hair and not long enough that you'd be like, it was Jesus.
But he had like longer black hair.
And I don't really remember his face because it was just such a shocking moment.
I think he had facial hair.
It was such a fucking shocking moment.
that I, like, it's still 30.
Did you tell your mom?
I don't know if I ever told my mom.
I've had to because it was such a fucking shocking moment.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
You know, that's what gets to that thing where you're like, all I know is I don't
know what's going on in the universe.
You know what I mean?
That's literally, the only thing is I know is that I don't know anything.
So, you know, I look to you though as the guy who, like, has got your shit together, though.
So, like, I don't like to hear you say you don't know what's going on because I look to
you as my, like.
Yeah, really?
Is there are guys or not?
I don't mean it in that way.
I don't like to hear that you don't like to.
Like you got it so, like you're,
you are so eloquent and your advice is so on the money and wise and you like,
you like,
you don't fucking,
you don't like seem to.
It's like perfect balance.
So yeah,
kind of like unnerzing when you're like,
I don't know what's going on.
Yeah.
I like to make it worse me.
I never know what's going on.
I'm giving up trying to understand what's going on.
And I think maybe that's what you're seeing.
Yeah.
I think that's, you know, a guy who's like, I don't know.
As opposed to worrying about what it is, you know.
There's a piece in being like, I don't know.
Nobody wants to hear their spiritual leader.
God, I don't know.
Don't come to me for answers.
Looking around, shrugging their shoulders.
Wouldn't that be more comforting now?
Still a leader I would trust.
Yeah.
I'd be like, all right, he kind of.
I know he's not lying.
He's got a stupid look on his face.
Kind of glazed.
Sunday Jeff's religiously.
I don't know.
Yeah, that's very nice you to say, but yeah, I don't.
So who knows what's going on.
Oh, okay.
I will say getting back to lanterns for a second.
Yes.
Let me know when you start watching it.
Okay.
Because I want to start watching it again when you hit that third episode.
Okay.
I can start this week.
Yeah, I'm very curious.
And it's not, I didn't like the third episode, but, you know, then I went to London.
So I haven't, I didn't stop watching because I was like, this fucking sucks.
But it definitely made me be like, eh, what is, what is we doing?
I've heard there's not a lot of superhero content.
The guy who plays Hal Jordan is so fucking good.
Yeah.
The guy who plays John Stewart is.
So, like, the cast is unassailable.
Great.
I just, I'm just like, why is this a Green Lantern show?
Is this the new direction for the DCU, you think?
Is this what we're, I'm surprised they're still doing shows, to be honest with you.
Well, I think it's not like Marvel, where they did like a hundred of them in two years.
I think they're being measured in what they're doing, which is what, like, Marvel has Vision Quest coming out, and it's fucking awesome.
So I think it's just like a matter of, I've seen the first four episodes and then like the last.
With special effects?
in between here and there
and it's good, huh?
It's fucking great.
It's great.
But,
but yeah, wait,
so lanterns,
yeah,
I don't know,
I'm just curiously there's not,
there's,
well,
I think it would have to be
honest and say that
the DC universe,
the James Gunn version of it,
is at a precarious point.
Yeah.
You know,
after Supergirl,
it's,
And I don't know if lanterns is doing great, doing bad, or doing mid.
But I think there is a chance, though, that if, like, it may be rebooted again with a different vision, right?
I know they just released a new trailer for it.
For what?
The lanterns?
No, lanterns.
But it's for the same season, though.
I guess it's a mid-season trailer for some reason.
Yeah, yeah.
Just clips, I guess.
But is this the direction you want to see the DC you go into?
No.
No.
No.
I would rather see a DCU that embraces what it is a little bit more than this.
That being said, though, he's so fucking good as Hal Jordan.
Is this, I know a lot of what I've seen, the complaints are that it's a bit too stuck on political issues.
And I say, has anybody read Hard Traveling Heroes?
I mean, Green Lantern, especially with...
who's the other lantern?
Green Arrow?
John Stewart.
John Stewart.
I mean, that was in the early 70s was a turning point for comics.
It's a high point in terms of tackling social issues.
So there's a history of those characters doing exactly what I think is going on in the show.
But is it, is it, is it, is what's happening that isn't, what's not there for you?
Is it a lack of villains?
there's a
there's a hackiness
to how they're
like attacking those issues
where you're like
really this is this is the way you're going like
it's just so weird to describe
like John Stewart's parents are so insane
and abusive that you're like what is this
like what why is this in the show
and then when you get to their explanation as to why
they're essentially abusing their son
horrifically as they raise him,
you're like,
wait, what?
Like, things just start
not making sense to me.
Is there any kind of, like,
uh,
big superhero,
no,
shiny stuff going on?
Not up until the point that I've seen,
but like,
but,
you know,
it's one of those things where you're like,
if you read comics and you know Green Lantern,
you're like,
some of these problems,
you're like,
shouldn't be problems.
Like,
the guy's got a fucking magic ring
that could do almost anything.
Like, why is this,
like,
why is this a struggle for him?
You know what I mean?
Like there's a lot of that where you're like this doesn't make it.
There's not, there's no so far.
And again, I've only seen three, three episodes.
How is it doing?
Do you know?
I did that.
I don't know.
I just don't know if it has the buzz, right?
I don't know if it's like, like it's weird that there's a major green lantern show.
And I don't really hear much about it.
Is it the fact that it's on HBO Max?
Is it the limitations of, I don't know, don't have that streaming service?
It's probably, but, but Game of Thrones is a fucking huge hit on HBO Max.
I don't know.
you know it just it just feels very odd to take green lantern and then be like
are we going to put them in a desert town where fucking basically nothing happens is it budgetary thing
has to be has to be has to be there's no other explanation for it like um yeah like the guard like
the guardians show up and it's just an actress you know what i mean it's it's it's not little
blue-headed big heads and no and they don't they show you at one point the uh john suites mother's is
like, are you really an alien, and turns into, like, the Guardian of the comics, but only
seen over the Guardian's shoulder, and you only see, like, this, like, the side of the face,
and you're like, well, but why are we doing? Like, why? Is there, do you think there's a future
still in the streaming TV shows? I heard Spider-Man noir, which you said you like, but I
canceled, yeah, I saw that. And I haven't seen yet, but I want to.
Yeah. How, if Nick Cage as Spider-Man can't move the needle enough to me.
make people watch.
I don't know what Amazon needed
to Greenlight the second season.
I don't know how you measure success
in streaming.
Yeah, I don't know. I'm not sure of how they get their
numbers or like, because I know like serious
satellite radio. Like it's impossible to tell
who's listening at any one time at any given
time. Oh really? Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know if it's
the same with streaming. I think they would have to
know the numbers. They know to the
number. Yeah. Who's doing it?
Who's watching? HBO says that
Lancards was the most watch program. I'm on
tallying 138 million viewing minutes.
Okay.
I guess that's good.
There's a lot.
There's a shot at the,
one of the episode ends with Hal suiting up and flying to,
I don't think it's Oa.
He flies to like a prison planet to see Sinestro.
And in that one,
in that like three minute sequence,
whatever it is,
you see the Green Lantern show that like,
oh, fuck yeah.
You'd like to see it.
Yeah, he's flying through space.
He's got the lantern.
He's,
it Cinesro and instead like, and then the next episode's like, well, does it feel,
it's horrific child abuse in some lectures.
And you're like, yeah.
If you take away the, um, the, the, the, the storyline and the, and the messaging, does it
look like a CW show?
No, that's for sure.
It doesn't.
No.
It looks better than a CW show?
It does.
Well, there's two answers to that.
The answer is yes.
It definitely.
looks better than a CW show. It looks like an HBO
type show.
But does that
mean it's a good fit for Green Lantern, I guess,
is the question? Which is
imaginative and bright and shiny
and has all these aliens and all
these weird concepts. But with
the major characters that
the Green Lanterns are
in if you're going
to create a successful DC Universe show,
should
should there be
a TV show? Like, like,
Or is that saying like these guys aren't going to be involved in anything but this streaming TV show?
No, because they're already involved.
Like Guy Gardner is in Superman and in the sequel, John Stewart's in it and Guy Gardner, I believe, in Man of Tomorrow.
Okay.
I think they're just, I don't mind what they're doing.
Like, I don't mind the split in the platform up as long as everything's like good.
And who knows, maybe this show ends up good.
How many episodes is it?
I think there's, I don't know.
It might be eight total or nine.
Is it done?
No, like I said, they just released the mid-season trailer.
Oh, so it's taking a break?
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
Like Walking Dead did?
No, no, no.
It's still going to be week in, week out.
I think they're just saying, like, they're just reminding you that they're halfway through the season.
Yeah, I'm curious what you think.
Before you watch a third episode, watch its first two episodes.
And I want to talk to you about that.
Okay.
And then we can talk about the third episode in a vacuum.
And then we'll continue on from there because I'm really curious what you think.
Five episodes.
Five so far.
released? Oh, no, that's what just telling
it says five episodes? Oh, it's a five-issue?
No, not at all. Okay. That's Wikipedia.
There's just five episodes so far, and they just released
a mid-season trailer by your own
information. So where does that put us?
I'm just reading off Wikipedia.
Okay.
IMDB says eight episodes.
Well, then they fucked up, because it's not mid-season if you
release it at the five point when there's eight episodes.
Okay.
I don't know. Maybe
maybe it does the thing.
I'm just curious to hear what you think.
Okay.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to watch it.
I will watch it and we can talk about it.
I don't know.
Awesome.
More comic book talk.
Well, you had a dinner party.
You should have did something fucking wild and crazy.
You should have came down.
He tried.
I didn't show off.
He came down the stairs like, you know,
pretend that you were having like some sort of like.
Oh, like a fugue.
state where I'm like naked.
Coming down the stairs.
You got it.
You got a fucking great content.
You just can't be like these people showed up.
Mary Beth cooked fucking a meal.
Get him didn't show up.
What do you guys guys?
End of story.
Well, I'm going to two weeks and a funeral this week.
Are you?
Yeah.
Who died?
What?
My brother's girlfriend, you know, Janice Hart's Grove.
Yeah.
Yeah, Linda.
Her mom died.
Okay.
She was 74.
How many times have you met her?
I would say just because she goes to family parties and stuff.
So I just saw her at a barbecue not like two months ago or so.
What she passed away from?
I think it was like complications due to like kidney stuff.
And then a friend of ours, sharp-eared listeners will remember.
At one time I told a story about going to one of Sage's classmates' homes.
And her parents were also named Brian and Mary Beth.
and Marybeth came to me the other day and she's fucking bawling.
I was like, Norm got hit by a car.
I'm like, that's, there's no other reason she would be crying this hard.
And it turned out that her, that Sage's friend's mom just died like out of nowhere.
Oh, shit.
Yeah.
Today's going to be Sage's first wake.
Oof.
Yeah.
So I'm going to tell her like, hey, this is what happened.
But, you know, we got to be there for, you know, the kid, her, her, her friend.
Wow.
How old is she?
She's only like 58.
She was pretty young.
So maybe you've got some good stories out of this.
Yeah, maybe.
Maybe you come, maybe you do something wild and crazy.
Bring back that fuse.
You probably heard about this.
I've got to create content.
How do I do?
I'm naked again.
I'm naked again.
He's pretending of the body was talking to me.
Tell him, Steve, Dave.
