Starting point is 00:00:06 The adrenaline pump through your veins probably since the 80s. Yeah, you're right about that. You forget what it feels like. Back in the 80s, I could have gotten stabbed and survived, too. My mother was a piece of shit. I'm glad she's dead. I had a car accident. It's kind of a tragedy. If you die jumping inside the tiger thing, you're kind of an asshole.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Tell him, Steve, Dave. Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Tell him Steve Dave. We got Walt here. We got to get him here. How you stanking? We kind of have Q here. He's, uh, he was, he was, um, barred from coming here by traffic. Too much traffic.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Too much road work. They closed part of the Staten Island Expressway. I don't know, no, I don't know why, but, uh, you know, when the trip's going to take 50% longer, I'm just like, I'll just know. It's not worth it. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, Walt has an interesting question when we were, uh, waiting for you. We were talking.
Starting point is 00:01:29 and because getham had brought up a story about a guy in the UK who jumped into a tiger enclosure got killed and surprisingly they didn't kill the tiger well good yeah that's what we said good for him but Walt asked like if you had to jump into an enclosure at the zoo what would it be now get him started getting him started naming like small varmints like squirrels and groundhogs and shit like that. Like a snowy owl pen or some shit like that. Yeah. Something that's something that like you can't be sure it's not going to attack you.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Right. Why am I jumping into it? I think that. Gun to your head. Someone is like, you know, you got to do it. You got to jump into something. They're going to give you a choice of what enclosure you're going to go into. It's what you got to do it if you don't.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Boom. Boom. Well, what am I? I guess that it's sad because like I'll jump in the, groundhog pen that won't be an issue that's exactly what I said Ganim was like I'm going to go into the boa constrictor fucking close you really
Starting point is 00:02:37 think that you could I don't know do you think a bow constrictor could squeeze that neck yeah I do only goes around me twice I'd be wearing him like a thought by the time we were done yeah why did he jump in the tiger did he say was he like it only happened like two three hours ago
Starting point is 00:02:58 so I'm not really sure. They say it was agitated. Wow. Well, you know, it's, every time you start feeling down about your own life, you just think at least you're not going to end up as tiger shit. That's true. But, but like in the grander scheme of things, like, let's say I got into a car accident and got all mangled and shit,
Starting point is 00:03:21 and then they have to have like a closed cast to get funeral for me. Like, I got all fucked up and that's how I died. Like, I don't know. maybe I would rather like go the way of like you know the natural cycle of things but you have cats Q has cats you know how they toy with things and then like once it's dead it's like okay I don't care about it anymore just walk away yeah yeah uh yeah I guess but like you know if you die in a car acts it's some kind of a tragedy if you die jumping inside the tiger thing you're kind of an asshole yeah you know yeah so it's like it's how do you want to be remembered yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:03:58 Yeah, people are like, oh, my God, what a tragedy when you're in the car accident. Otherwise, it's just like... Whether they just discount the previous part of his life, or that he's not an asshole because he died in a car accident? Yes, it's like a change of life. All the other stuff he said and did before. It doesn't count against him. I died a hero. Yeah, and Sid's got whitewashed.
Starting point is 00:04:20 But if he jumped in the tiger, but it's like, he's fucking asshole that said all that shit, he fucking jumped from him. That is he jumping the tiger dead. Then everybody would be like, he got whitewashed. what he deserved. Well, that's your job, that Q to say, like, I thought he, I heard him say he thought he saw a child in the enclosure and went and jumped in to save it. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:40 You got to spin it. I'll do whatever I can. Absolutely. He might have said some stuff, but his last act was very generous. It's not America. You know, shit like that. I was going to say, is there ever been anybody like that who's been, like, publicly panned?
Starting point is 00:04:57 and then they did something like in their final weeks or months that like we've deemed them. I'm sure there's multiple instances of people who kind of got away with leading a not so glorious life. And then, you know, in death they were kind of uplifted into a realm of that maybe they didn't deserve just because they died. Well, don't you think that that's standard? Isn't that what we all? Yeah, like very few people, like when they write an obituary or give a eulogy are like shitty to the person. Sometimes you see it. Sometimes you see an obituary where it's like my mother was a piece of shit.
Starting point is 00:05:39 I'm glad she's dead, you know, like that kind of stuff. And God bless those people for sharing. But for the most part, for the most part, it's just like thoroughly mediocre people dying and being giving a lovely speech by the people that love them. And then we all move on and forget. Yeah. it seems to be the or was, you know, I don't know what it is now. I think the world is different now.
Starting point is 00:06:03 I think that there people are more willing than ever to let you know that just because that person's dead, they were a doucheback. Oh, yeah. Right, yeah, like the wake is a lot different than online. Like the obituary starts
Starting point is 00:06:21 with like the noted brick thighs in tiger pancakes. Yeah. Yeah. I, well, try it, sorry.
Starting point is 00:06:34 No, go heck you. No, if you got more on that, I, I was going to, I was going to shine an ant that I met the other day
Starting point is 00:06:41 a little bit. Oh, yeah? Yeah, shine. You got a new aunt. His name is the marvelous ant. He works in Marvel Comics. I didn't want to say his real name.
Starting point is 00:06:52 But I ended up talking for like a half hour the other day. I mean, in your listener multiple episode times works in the bowels of Marvel comics Walt he says he brings you up as an artist for things I guess that's ignored the mailroom guy's talking about Walt Flanigan again he says he's going to he says he's going to push and get you in there somehow really what's he do for Marvel without revealing his name uh the bowels yeah the bowels of Marvel oh okay got you yeah not He's not the janitor. But I went to see the vision thing at Comic-Con. They showed the premiere episode.
Starting point is 00:07:33 It's fucking awesome. And I got to go to the after-party Walt where I secured my financial future. Have you heard about midnight marvel at all? I have. The midnight line. You don't read them, right? It's not in your line. I don't read anything really old, anything new.
Starting point is 00:07:48 Yeah. But I heard about it. Yeah, I read it. It's like horror takes on it. The first issue just came. came out this week, this week, I think. And went to the after party at Marvel and they had them laid out everywhere, number ones, stats of them, Walt, for people to just take.
Starting point is 00:08:05 And people were like putting their drinks on them and shit like that. Like, way disrespectful shit. So I started by gathering a little fucking corner of Nick condition number ones, Fantastic Four X-Men and Spider-Man. It was fucked, dude, I got like four each, bro. Oh, there's a lot more than that. I was going to go for big money one day, buddy. I think you're going to say I got like four short boxes of every issue.
Starting point is 00:08:31 No, no, no. But for a moment, I was back to my like, it felt glorious to be like a little collecting rat again. You know what I mean? Like worrying about creases and prices and stuff like that. It was a fun growback. Well, my friend Terry made the, you know, made the show. So it's not that hard. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:51 You know how it is, Walt. Your friend makes a show. Next thing you know, you're collecting vision comics. Yeah. Well, there weren't any vision comics. It was X-Methon. It was Spider-Man and Fantastic Four. Number ones, of which I have in Mint, Mint edition.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Are they bagged and board it? They are bagged and bored in now, buddy. It might be now is the time the strike dough cue when the iron is hot, though. Like, you know, I'd immediately after this episode, it's done recording. I'd run to eBay and post them. I remember those days. Oh, yeah. Sort of doing to find the best ones to put up on eBay.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Going to reservist boxes to pull them out. Oh, yeah, we got shorter on our water. Sorry about that. It was so much, it was so much fun to be in that mode again. It really was. You don't do that? No, I read everything mostly digital now. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Because. So your local. Staten Island comic book shop, it hasn't seen BQ come through the door? They probably see me like three, four times a year. They don't see me weekly. Oh, wow. Okay. That is a big drop off then.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Yeah. Did, uh, did you? Yeah, it's just, it's like I'm on the road and like I want to reread a storyline. I just zip, zip, zip, download it and I'm, you know, I'm in bed reading it. It's too convenient, Walt. That's why comic books now, they're, they've eliminated the 49, I mean, the 399 comic book. Did you see that? They announced that.
Starting point is 00:10:19 that Marvel is, it's all $499 now. Really? Yeah. Everything went up. It's like the cheapest comic book cover price is $4.99 now. That's astounding. Like you think of some of the guys that used to come in, the reservists, like, you know, like Mr. Nice guy or something. And like how, like that, it would be, what, $500 just like you?
Starting point is 00:10:38 Like the guy got so many comics. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's, what do you see as a future in a way? world where the cheapest comic book, now the standard price is $4.99. Not talking about double-size issue, just a standard normal issue is $499. Do you see that as being unattainable, like in terms of...
Starting point is 00:11:05 I mean, it's certainly... Constricted, yeah. Like, when I was working at Blockbuster Video in the 90s and now, look, obviously 30 years on, things are going to change. But I think there were like $1.25 back then. like late 90s. And I, you know, I could go next door my break to Krypton Comics and
Starting point is 00:11:24 get all my books, 10 books. And like, I would end up coughing up like under 20 bucks and being like, oh, I don't know if I can afford this, you know, because I was making it so little. So now it's just like, yeah, I don't, like, you would be able for 20 bucks to get four books. That's rough, man. That's really rough. That's rough.
Starting point is 00:11:41 But I don't think the, what's it called the inflation calculator or whatever? I don't think it really, is accurate though in terms of how comics have chosen to you know navigate like they're the way that they have advanced to the price point doesn't match other items though
Starting point is 00:12:03 like they're substantially higher than they probably should be compared to other um products like their costs are crazily um you think it's the paper it's like all the paper it's like all the paper paper, like, it's all that shiny paper now.
Starting point is 00:12:22 I think it's, I think it's, the industry is just too large, like, in terms of, like, all the people that you got to pay at Marvel, you know, from the creators to everybody else. It may just be there's just too many, too many people trying to get a slice of that one comic book pie. And that's why it's good. And the dwindling readership means that, okay, well, if we were, if we had a bigger audience, maybe we could keep it at this price. but since the audience is shrinking, they got to bear the brunt of a higher price point. So you try to ring it out of the people who are left pretty much? What else you do? Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:13:00 Right. I mean, it's a limited scope. You're a limited audience for this product. And that means that they have to pay a higher price if they want it. Like, I remember my grandmother used to get the newspaper daily. Yeah. Like it was maybe five bucks every two weeks. She gifted a mail.
Starting point is 00:13:17 And we had to pick up a newspaper for something like a year ago, remember. And it was $3, $3 for an Asbury Park Press Daily Edition. Just for the paper, yeah. It is. And if she was still getting the paper, like it would probably, you know, it would probably be like 50 bucks now for, you know, two weeks for the papers. Yeah, my parents still get the Asbury Park Press. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:38 But do you think if they drop the price back down to like two bucks, comics comes roaring back or? No. I don't think there is a magic bullet to solve this. And if there is, it's not going to come from this dope. Talking about me. I don't have the answer. You were pointing at me.
Starting point is 00:13:57 I don't have the answers, man. Those are difficult questions. But I hope, though, that the industry can survive a $4.99 standard comic book. I mean, the industry's gone through a bunch of people who try to save it. People have said saying have been ringing the death of. bell for comics forever, though, and they've been wrong. So probably this is just another person screaming into the void that, like, it's over. And probably they'll still be publishing well after we're all gone.
Starting point is 00:14:31 Now, Q, when you buy a digital copy, is it the same price as a regular comic? Yeah, you get like a 10% discount, but it's the same. It's the same. Yeah, they, they fuck you on that. Huh. And I know why they do it, because if you could buy it for so much cheaper on the app, nobody would go to complex stores. Like, I get what they're doing. I don't disapprove.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Like, I'm fine paying the same amount as the paper ones. Yeah. I never, like, I've gotten stuff on, like, the Kindle and shit. And I never feel like I really own it, you know, because I'm just like, if my account goes away or I forget a password, it's like it's done. I don't have those books anymore. Well, you don't. Yeah. You don't really own it, right?
Starting point is 00:15:13 Because let's say, okay, let's say I have Amazing Fantasy 15 on my iPad. And I go around and go like, I got Amazing Fantasy 15. You're like, holy shit. I was like, yeah, here it is. Check it out. You don't own it. You don't own it. You don't own Amazing Fantasy 15.
Starting point is 00:15:29 It's meaningless. It's worthless on a digital file. Yeah, I agree with that. I agree. But, you know, when you're in the middle of Tucson, Arizona, 1 a.m. And you want to read a Green Lantern book, you can download it right away. Yeah. But that's what I feel will be, that's the saving grace of the comic book fan, though.
Starting point is 00:15:52 They know that they really don't own it. And to really own it, you have to own a physical copy. And that essence of the hobby of that it's collectible or it has a value, that will carry it, you know, a little bit more than, you know, people just being like, I'm just going all digital. Yeah, I agree. Yeah. There's that essence of the hobby is a factor in keeping it viable in terms of being a collectible and sought after on the aftermarket.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Tell him, Steve, Dave. Q's just nodding. Yeah, I'm listening. I'm soaking in Walt's point. I agree with him. Bad news about Reacher. What? Well, he went woke and evidently now he's broke.
Starting point is 00:16:52 What did you leave? The actor or the show? The actor. Yeah, the actor Alan Richardson. Is that his name? Richson. I guess he's like a real outspoken, liberal kind of guy. And his last movie tanked hard.
Starting point is 00:17:13 And the studio execs were blaming him for. it and he's since been told to fucking pipe down. Where did you hear this information? I read it in the post. No, I read it in the post. Yeah. Let me see if I can find it. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Is it the post, though, a conservative newspaper? It leans conservative, I think. Yeah. So they have every reason to say, to make up this rumor that Alan Richardson's been told to pipe down. Well, they said that about a lot of actors and actresses. Like, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:42 you don't know if they're really being told that. Yeah. And there's no way to prove that that he's been told that. People like to blame a poor performing movie on the, the audience being upset about an actor in it or something, which I've never, I don't think I've ever not watched a movie because of an actor, because of an opinion I had about their,
Starting point is 00:17:59 their politics. Like, I don't like, I don't much. You paid to see a movie. So nobody gives a fuck what you think or what you're doing because you're stealing all the shit. It's not true.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Yes, it is. Yes, it is. Do you ever pay to see a movie at how long? No one gives a fuck about the guy who's fucking stealing his shit But I was paying for movies I did watch Nealido Q Oh what's you think I'm loving it
Starting point is 00:18:26 Really fucking the villain is an evil cult Okay nice Right up my alley man It is fucking great Is her ass kicking? Oh yeah she kicks ass Yeah All right
Starting point is 00:18:40 Just so wearing like the fruit loop t-shirt shirts and shit like that, like the cereal shirts that they tried to make her wear like the first few seasons of Reacher. Oh, I'm not, what does that mean? No, she just always wore shirts with like cereals on it. Like that was her character. Oh, I didn't even
Starting point is 00:18:56 probably even notice that. No. Maybe I'm misremembering it then, but I always thought like every time he showed her in the first couple of seasons of Reacher, she was like chewing on cereal wearing a Count Chocular shirt or something like that. I was like, that's one stab at her character development. She dishes out plenty of
Starting point is 00:19:12 fucking broken bones and bloody noses and, you know, she's, she is a, it is a nice spin-off for this Reacher universe, though. Okay, great. I highly recommend it. I don't know how it ends, but I'm like, I'm like halfway through it, and I'm, I'm digging it so far. How's, um, the last season of Reacher, I just finished up. You weren't wrong about the finale.
Starting point is 00:19:39 Yeah. Um, pretty painfully apparent. what they were trying to pull. Yeah, yeah. Has it been dumbed down, do you think? Like, over the previous seasons? Give me an example of how you think it's been dumbed down. I just think, like, it's so much more comic booky now than it has been in the past.
Starting point is 00:19:58 Before it seemed like a real action series, and now it seems like, like, watching this last season, I was like, I see why Q and Walt love it so much. It's like a live action comic book. It really is. Like, you can't kill this guy. Okay, but yeah, but I feel like you're, you're, you're. points may be valid in terms of the, but I didn't see it as a comic book cliche more as the one, as a, the old movie cliche where you, the villain can't keep, you keep thinking the villain's dead and the villain keeps popping back to life. Right. At the end, that to me was what I saw in terms of like some tired, recycled cliches where like somebody gets thrown out of a window. And they're still capable of getting up and killing some. Not only just getting up, but fighting to the, yeah. Yeah, that was crazy.
Starting point is 00:20:45 And, like, Ritcher gets stabbed so many times at the... Did you see the finale cue? Yeah, yeah. He stumbles. He falls, you know? Yeah, right? What does Brian want? He fucking stumbled.
Starting point is 00:20:57 She digs a knife into him, twists it, brings it up like you're supposed to do when you're trying to kill somebody, like, like cut their guts out of him. And he's just like, ugh. And it keeps fighting, like... Adrenaline, bro. Is that it? Yeah. Yeah. You know, you haven't had an adrenaline.
Starting point is 00:21:12 You're going to run through your veins probably since the 80s. Yeah, you're right about that. You forget what it feels like. Back in the 80s, I could have gotten stabbed
Starting point is 00:21:20 and survived too. These days? Also, that knife is like mostly taken up all the muscle that's got to go through before it's his inside.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Yeah. He's got a thick wall of muscle. It's like cut through a steak. I was wondering like, because you look at Reacher and you're just like, this is like a Michelangelo's
Starting point is 00:21:40 sculpture, right? Like the dude's body is like the idea of perfection. I was like, I wonder what his stunt double looks like or his like his double that like, you know, when he's standing. Well, what do they call that again, Q? Stand in. Yeah, thank you, Walt. You had to go to Q for that?
Starting point is 00:21:57 You forgot. I was on a movie set in 1995. That's true. You're right. Yeah. Yeah, I wonder what his stand in looks like. Is he just as big and cut? A linebacker.
Starting point is 00:22:10 I mean, this guy's just got to be more tall. all, right? I mean, there have to be someone out there that. That kind of looks like Reacher. Good question. Yeah. Or maybe they got a kid, like someone on stilts. Would you be upset, Q, if it, you know, if the post also reported that Reacher had kept the frame and the look of the character by doing some chemically, uh, treatment, some chemical treatment.
Starting point is 00:22:42 to keep that physique, would you be upset by that? Or would you feel like, oh, my God, he's cheating. No, I wouldn't feel like that. No. Certainly not to his face. Anybody who injects anything into their body to change the shape is a fucking loser. But you're prescribed it, though, right? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Like, your life depends on it. I'd die, otherwise. But Rachel's only, His only reason for doing it is the paycheck. So he could be Reacher in season 8 or whatever. He's an actor, man. Like, this is what I've been saying all along. Like, I want them to do what they have to do to look that way.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Well, you know, he can get rolls if he drops about 250 pounds and he's a little bit, he's a little bit, you know, a little bit more wiry. He sure could, but then he's going to do the reacher roll. Well, get some other guy who does it, you know, the old-fashioned way would steel and iron and measurements. Working out. Tom Cruise. That don't matter.
Starting point is 00:23:49 That don't matter in the slightest. Give me the hunks. So anyway, yeah, the Reacher star Alan Richardson claimed that studios have discouraged him from discussing politics publicly after the actor drew attention for his political rants. He jokingly remarked? I guess so.
Starting point is 00:24:10 What movie was he in? He was recently in a movie called A Runner. Really? Yeah, and it really underperformed. It was like $17 million against like 35 to 45. And 17 is worldwide. So it only made 14 domestically. And it got released theatrically.
Starting point is 00:24:26 Yeah. Yeah. They didn't do a good job PR. I didn't hear about it. Yeah, you would think like. And right now he's a big fucking big deal. Yeah, for sure. I hear he's going to be in a movie with Arnold though.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Really? Christmas morning. that's a good pair yeah I would see that well Arnold just they just released a trailer for a movie where Arnold is um Santa Claus is that it it might be it I heard it was a Christmas movie
Starting point is 00:24:53 The Man with the Bad Yeah I didn't watch it but I kind of saw it It was on TV somewhere that yeah it's it's in It's him as Santa It's called The Man with the Bag Yeah When to come out? December 2nd I'm prime
Starting point is 00:25:07 When Santa It's not even a theatrical movie I can try Prime account. I can watch it. Yeah, there you know. When Santa Claus discovers his iconic magic sack of present has been stolen by a rogue elf with a grudge, he has to turn to his naughty list. He enlists Vance, Richinson, Reacher, a skilled former thief to help assemble a crew of misfits to pull off a high-stakes holiday heist to recover the bag before Christmas. I like a good heist movie.
Starting point is 00:25:31 I'm always a fan of a good heist movie. Ken Jong's in it? Jane Krakowski's in it. Oh, wow. Kyle Mooney's in it. So we got some names in there. Krakowski's so she's sitting in the rank for funniest woman alive, I think. Yeah, I agree with that.
Starting point is 00:25:48 She's fucking hysterical. Yeah. It could be good smart comic. Good smart comedy. That's funny because like I like on the service, even with my love of Arnold and even with my love of Reacher, I'm like, hey, all right. Sounds like something. Hopefully it's fun.
Starting point is 00:26:01 I probably won't watch it. But you drop in her and I'm like, oh, now I kind of want to watch it. Why do you think it's only going into? streaming, though. That feels like a movie that's got some cachet to it that could do some damage at the box office. I don't know. Just the Amazon made it, you know?
Starting point is 00:26:20 They're like, they're making movies too, bud. They don't release shit in theaters. I'm sure the man with the bag was the fucking lead actors when Amazon paid them what they had to pay them to do the fucking movie. So the plot
Starting point is 00:26:35 of runner is a former soldier medical courier must deliver a rare organ to a terminally o' girl while being pursued by a cartel who wants the same organ. And it's Richardson and Owen Wilson. And I was going to bring up Owen Wilson. It sounds like mindless fun, kind of like. Yeah, exactly. Mayhem.
Starting point is 00:26:54 I can't stand Owen Wilson. I don't know who that is. Can't stand Owen Wilson? Yeah. I just something, I've never found him really good in a movie. See, I really like Owen Wilson. I just like Luke Wilson. Anytime I see Luke Wilson, he just sort of plays the same character, that like,
Starting point is 00:27:08 mopey kind of guy. I think the only movie I would like Darwin Wilson in is a West Anderson film. I like Flip Wilson. There you go. That's some old school shit right there. My Wilson is in the 70s, bro. We're in a dress. What was that character he did?
Starting point is 00:27:28 Geraldine. Geraldine. Back when you could do shit like that. But a dude can walk around in a dress and it'd be funny. Everybody loved it. Yeah. Before Tyler Perry ruined everything. Carol D.
Starting point is 00:27:44 I think old school remains as one of the best comedies in the past, like in modern times. Old school holds up so funny. I would agree with you on that. That's great. Yeah, and that's Luke Wilson, right?
Starting point is 00:27:57 Yeah. You know, I know frat humor is not going over too good these days. No, not really. A frog humor? Frat humor? Yeah. Oh, like Animal House?
Starting point is 00:28:09 It's no longer. Yeah. It was recently a Hulk or Fluffel about like a gang bang at a college and the girl said that she was drugged and raped and the guys were saying no, she wasn't. It was like seven guys at Cornell. That's like, so you feel that like the studios are like, you know what? We're going to stay away from frat set-based comedies. I think you're going to see a movement in this country. If I know my America well, I think you're going to see a movement in this country to just fucking abolish frats.
Starting point is 00:28:40 I think you're in like I think that's coming. I think that's going to come out of this. They're constantly being busted for hazing, even though hazing has been outlawed for how long now? Like they're like they always find like these poor like pledges in a basement like in their underwear like all wet and have like fucking food all over them and shit, you know? Yeah. I mean, that's the problem because like there is a certain amount of hazing that you just roll your eyes and be like, you know, if they're like, here's a binkie. You got to walk around with this in your mouth all day at school.
Starting point is 00:29:07 You're like, all right. Like whatever. But then you're just like, we're going to fuck you with this with this strap on like, you know, while we call you in cow shit. You're like, wait, what? Right. Yeah. After you drink this bottle of ever clear. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Swallow goldfish. So, you know, as always were our own worst enemies. Not that I was ever in a frat, but people take it too far. They just take it too fucking far. Well, frats aren't the only thing that aren't the only organizations that have hazing. I mean, like, you know, football teams. I'm sure there was some good-natured hazing in the fire department. Yeah, we had a, uh, we had a.
Starting point is 00:29:38 We had a football hazing incident. This is going back years ago in Home Delaware, like they were playing naked twister. Oh, yeah. And everybody got busted. I still think that was just a coach who was like, who desperately wanted to play naked fucking twister. And I'll say, I know how I can get my.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Hot one, hot two. This is a play. I'll just fucking frame it in the guiseing. And I'll be able to watch all these young, nubile fucking athletes. Yeah, climb all over each other. In the name of hazing. Yeah, that's what I mean.
Starting point is 00:30:13 We take it too far sometimes. I mean, yeah, like, if you're in a football team and you're like, and I'm like, I want to become an NFL player, I don't care, man. I don't care. There's no way a coach could convince me to get naked and play twist. Play twister. Yeah, that's a fucking stretch. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:30 I don't care how much of a team guy I am. Like, rah, rah, rah, you got to take one for the team, bro. Take your pants off. Yeah, get naked. straddle me. Red, right, left arm blue. We would like, the new guys like would get
Starting point is 00:30:50 bucketed. You'd get a bucket of water pour on you from the roof. You know what I mean? Like, like stupid shit like that. I think I've seen a picture of me with a balloon attached to yourself. Yeah, they attached a balloon, the balloon when I went shopping at the, for the meal. They would put a Thomas, a tank engine balloon, clip it to the back of my bunker gear. So you're walking around thinking you look great, but you look like a fucking, you know, shit like that. To me, that's funny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Not so much like when people end up in the ER. No, no, not when people are like scarred and shit like that. So I don't know, you know, I don't know how Animal House is going to be viewed or old school is going to get viewed. But they are fucking funny movies. There's a comment on threads last week, uh, reaching. replied to a fan who expressed disappointment that Amazon Prime video series would not adapt a book in the series where Jack Reacher kills his way through a white supremacist
Starting point is 00:31:45 militia camp, which sounds fucking awesome, right? So who's not touching it, the makers of Reacher? He said, yes, he said, my favorite book and fun fact, I had it approved until someone got reelected. So he's blaming Trump for not being able to make to adapt this book. What's the name of the book? Let's see, hold on if it's even. says it here. I don't think it says.
Starting point is 00:32:12 Yeah, it just says it. Is the guy who wrote Reacher still alive? Yes. Yeah. Really? Yeah. He just recently came out and said that he killed the Tom Cruise movies. So we could get the Reacher and everyone loves. Yeah, yeah, yeah, pretty much. I had to make the sacrifice. Okay, it's called Die Trying. It was released in 1998. It's the second book.
Starting point is 00:32:31 I wonder how rich this writer became now that Richard Blue. I'm sure he was successful before this. Oh, yeah. But I wonder how much this has, well, made the bottom line grow. Yeah, they're like, we want to adapt. Well, almost every book. Right? I mean, I wonder how much the bank account was affected by the success of this fucking TV show.
Starting point is 00:32:53 I'm sure. He's, he never has to write another Reacher book in his life. The guy. Would you want to see Reacher go crazy, though, and go, like, maybe into outer space, like, like, like, where he get, like, he gets caught on a spaceship. No. Like, like, like, like Moon, like, Moon, or stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Like when James Bond went to space, do you think there's a line where you can't have Reacher Cross where it gets too silly? I thought it was getting stabbed 50 times. But I guess I was wrong. Terrorists take over the ISS and they had to fly him up under cover
Starting point is 00:33:26 so nobody knows that what's really happening. In zero gravity and Richers fighting in slow motion in a spacesuit. Blood drops like flying through the air. Yeah. I think it would be silly, but it sounds like something I'd love to watch. you know, there's definitely a line where that you go over and it's like it becomes something that it wasn't originally.
Starting point is 00:33:47 But is that always a bad thing? Like, I don't know if you told me that the next season of Reacher was fighting aliens on the moon, I'd be like, I don't know how they're pulling it off. I'll tell you what, I'll be there every week to fucking find out. Well, I think you pull it off, not aliens, but almost like Moonraker. Like, it didn't hurt James Bond to have that fucking silly-ass Moonraker. Like, it came back in a big bad way after. that. So, I mean, you just let him get out there and do some, shoot a fucking laser pistol and beat some fucking Russians in space and come back home and there's a parade.
Starting point is 00:34:21 And then he gives up a homeless one with a sandwich and we're on to the next fucking season. Oh, he has to parachute out of this space station. And he got him like going through the atmosphere. Oh, yeah. I'll tell you what, here's the problem with that, with that season. if they make that season of the show. People who do love the show would probably be annoyed and pissed off. And to me, they'd kind of be right because, like, everything comes with a cost opportunity, right?
Starting point is 00:34:49 So for the season that they make, where Reacher's fighting Russians in space that we love, and we're here every week being like, this is fucking awesome. Like, the real Reacher fans who have been reading the book since the 90s and shit like that and, like, who love Reacher and love the show for what it is would be like, this isn't Reacher. Like, why are you? the guy gets on a fucking greyhound and he goes to the next town and he finds troubling. And they'd be right.
Starting point is 00:35:14 You know what I mean? They'd be right to feel that way. But you and I would be right to be like, yeah, but fuck that though. He's in space now. I just couldn't be like, chill out. Chill out, nerd. Who are you saying this too? On the internet?
Starting point is 00:35:29 On the old school reacher. Oh, okay. Yeah. Chill out. Yeah. Well, I mean, actually, isn't it what they've been saying to us comic fans for the past fucking 10 years? This reach. Chill out, nerd.
Starting point is 00:35:39 Stop gatekeeping. Where you're like, well, this character has never looked or sounded or did any of this. What's wrong with you? Q, I got to see. Well, it's just that I've been a fan for 50 years. No! Reacher's in space now. I would love it.
Starting point is 00:35:58 I got the season ending for you. He parachutes out of the space station, you know, parachutes back down to Earth, lands near a diner, takes off his space helmet. This space suit goes into. the diner is about to sit down for some pie and this guy just smacks a little kid in the booths, boots over. Next season. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:16 I mean, it sounds like a great ending to me. I don't know. He just looks at the father slapping his kid. He goes, no. And they just stands up and walks off camera. Ah, it'd be the best. Oh, yeah. You just see his back eclipsing the camera.
Starting point is 00:36:34 Yeah. Yeah. The father's eyes go really wide. Yeah. the fucking Reacher approaches. Why isn't Lee Child listening to this? Yeah. So ultimately,
Starting point is 00:36:45 Reacher listened. He said, you know how many phone calls I get from studios? Like, would you shut the fuck up? Please stop talking in public. He's like, I mean,
Starting point is 00:36:52 it's not chaos. I'm after. It's actually the opposite of chaos. I'd like a little, I'm not going to get into it. You don't want to see my rant starring these goddamn fucking politicians everywhere. I'm not going to do it.
Starting point is 00:37:01 Sony told me not to it. I'm not going to say anything. Not today. Not today. And then he said, Epstein. And then, And then when he was done, he fist-bumped the moderators and said, peddows win.
Starting point is 00:37:13 Are you sure this really happened? I mean, it wasn't even actually reported by the Post. It was reported by the Christian Post. And the Post picked it up. I'm a little leery of anything from any paper. Any paper. Yeah, I agree. You know, I don't care.
Starting point is 00:37:31 I don't believe anything. They all frame it to fulfill their own agendas. Oh, he said, He said that one of his comments was Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he's their poster child, and it's unreal. I don't understand it. One month later, he claimed he was met with violence for sharing these and other views.
Starting point is 00:37:52 I don't know how he was met with violence, though. Wasn't he, in fact, convicted of rape? I don't think so, was he? Yeah. Civil. Gene Carroll. Yeah, not criminally civilly. Well, all right.
Starting point is 00:38:05 So, you know, and then he's not wrong. I can't figure out where the pedo thing comes in. Because a lot of people say that, but I wasn't sure. I think he's cast on what he was. Oh, the Epstein thing. Okay. Got you. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Yeah, that makes sense then. All right. Yeah, but wasn't he like, I don't understand. Like, the Democrats have had that report forever. Like, didn't you think if there was something damning in there? Well, they would have released it. Well, I think it shows you that both sides are unwilling to do anything about it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Both sides have had opportunities to fucking clean, clean, clean up and fucking arrest people and no arrests have ever been made. Why is that? Not even both sides. There's independents who are in the government who could do release this stuff too.
Starting point is 00:38:51 Obviously there's people in there from both sides that. Let's just play a cool. Well, just how about we all agree we play a cool? It's a classic I've seen play a cool defense. Oh, boy. Blue Chew is the official sponsor of Tell them Steve Dave.

Starting point is 00:40:11 It won't go away. They don't go bad. They drop in efficacy. Like, you know, the effectiveness of it, like, you know, because the medicines and sides start to degrade. But, like, if you keep them in optimal conditions, they can usually last longer than, you know, the best by date, like food. All right.

I've got one here from a very loyal, long-time aunt who asked for a favor. His name is Church Jackson, and he has a new novel called Carney, spelled C-A-R-N-Y. Not to be confused with Carney, K-A-R-N-E-Y, which was a... The masterpiece by Flanagan and Johnson. Which is coming back. I got it remastered and recolored.
Starting point is 00:43:28 Get out of here, really? Yeah, which will be a Patreon gift in probably 2027. Nice, all right. Nice. Yeah, I hated the colors in the original. So I pay to have it all recolored and re-lettered, because I guess the lettering in today's world is, it needed to be a different, I don't know, different fun.
Starting point is 00:43:49 Right, whatever the fuck. Too confusing. But we're back to Church Jackson's. Carney, written under the name Church Jackson, and is available now on Amazon. Carney is set in the grimy world of 1970s territorial professional wrestling. Oh. Back when the business was protected, the drives between towns were endless, and the men on the posters were exposed to feel 10 feet tall. At the center of the story is Duke. To wrestling fans, Duke is the perfect American hero, world champion, beloved everywhere he goes. Charismatic, handsome, and seemingly untouchable. But underneath that image, something is very wrong. As Duke travels, travels from the territory to territory,
Starting point is 00:44:37 Carney slowly pulls apart the difference between the man the public thinks it knows and the man driving alone to the next town. It's part wrestling novel, part psychological horror, part road story with a grimy character-driven tone and a lot more going on underneath the surface than just what happens in the ring. If you like wrestling, crime fiction,
Starting point is 00:44:59 psychological horror, damage people, making terrible decisions. I get a lot of, I get enough of that. Hello. Or books that leave you feeling like you need to wash your hands afterwards, please give it a shot. Search Carney, C-A-R-N-Y by Church Jackson on Amazon. If you pick it up, leave a review.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Independent authors live and die by word of mouth. So please support a fellow aunt. All right. You like wrestling, right, Q? And you like psychological horror. You like people making bad decisions. I love it. Yeah. Yeah, I'm in. I'll go on Amazon order. I actually went on Amazon to order while you were saying, and I forgot his name. Could you give me his name one more time? Church Jackson. That sounds like an action hero right there.
Starting point is 00:45:46 Is that his real name? Yeah. I've never met anybody named church ever. Church Jackson. You know, when you see church, you better pray. Right? That's a good tag log. If you ever see church, Dan, and Ali, you better get on your knees and pray. Meanwhile, it's some fucking nerd writing books at his house. He asked that we roast them. Oh, yeah? Well, I got a roast for him.
Starting point is 00:46:13 It's not coming up at all on Amazon. It's not coming up on Amazon. That's fucking roast one. I was about to buy this book and I can't. Where do you go? One two, one two. Okay, there you are. There you are.
Starting point is 00:46:24 We lost it for a second. You can't find it, huh? I can't find it. I can't find it on Amazon. I did find out that the reason I can't get down there today is because a woman went on the Staten Island Expressway driving in the wrong direction and caused a horrible accident and that's why the road was closed. So I figured that out.
Starting point is 00:46:41 I'm going to send you a link to the novel queue. Okay, thank you. And I also double checked and, no, you can't call Trump a convicted rapist because it was a civil. Right. Well, you got to tell that to a lot of people because they all say it. Well, you know, they're probably talking about the fact that the judge said like even though, I don't know, I read two lines. So I don't know exactly. But apparently the judge says it meets what he thinks the common definition of rape was.
Starting point is 00:47:09 But he's not a convict. So do with that what you will. I don't think that's going to change any minds about Trump right now. Probably not. I don't think so. If I could just advertise something a little? No. There you go.
Starting point is 00:47:25 Okay. What was it? I would think that eBay stuff. Oh, yes. Yes. Okay. I'm sorry. I want to ask you this, Q.
Starting point is 00:47:32 I want to ask you this, Q. If we're getting into it. I mean, I don't, this is not an attack on get him. I think his heart is in the right place. He's thinking like this is a good business decision. But I need somebody to tell him like kind of like frame it because I can't seem to get through to him that this isn't the way you should be conducting business. He's printing photos of people around us and are you like around us and are that come and come and go in the T's DeSty Town universe. And wants to sell them, and we make the money off the photos.
Starting point is 00:48:06 Like, he's got a picture in the shell that he wants to sell on eBay. As a gag, you don't bash Ming for selling pictures of Q, icons. This is different, though. How? It's just different because I think Ming is like, I think he's living, like, you know, at a fucking trash cans, I think at this point. It's desperate times for desperate measures, I think. I think he's eating pork and beans. He looks like Oscar the Grouch.
Starting point is 00:48:38 And maybe, you know, maybe, you know, I saw a dog food can in his backpack in his backpack here last time, but I don't know he doesn't know the dogs. I was like, oh, man. So I don't care if he sells fucking photographs and he printed online of Q. If Q don't have a problem with an idol. But it's so weird that you made fucking pictures in the shell. and they're like, I'm going to sell these. Are you getting them to sign them?
Starting point is 00:49:05 Yes. Okay. Yeah. I'm sure that if you ask him like, hey, I print out this picture of you, can you sign it and I'm going to sell it and give all the proceeds to the ASBCA you're saying? No, this is something. That's completely different. He's going to keep the proceeds.
Starting point is 00:49:17 No, it goes to our store. Oh, okay. Yeah. Okay, that is a little weird thing. It is, like, I kind of appreciate the go get them this of this. But it's kind of like they're, yeah, this is not what you. probably should be doing, though. Well, if it's me, Walter Q,
Starting point is 00:49:35 totally makes sense. The ancillary guys, though, yeah, it's a little... He's got a show on Patreon. He's got two or three shows on Patreon. I know, but it's not the way you conduct business with people. He's the showrunner for combo book, men. So that doesn't mean he has no say... The showrunner for a dual survival.
Starting point is 00:49:53 Some guy selling merch on his face on it. Like, I want to see one of his friends be like, you know somebody selling pictures of you? How much were you looking to get for him? I was going to see I put him on eBay as a starting at a dollar auction. I see. I only got like five printed up because I had a, when I go order eight by tens, I have to order a certain amount to, you know, complete order.
Starting point is 00:50:15 I told him don't make pictures of Teddy. Who else? A teddy, and he still went ahead and made pictures of a teddy. I'm paying for him. I pay for these out of pocket. Who are the people you chose? Like, who are the people? I did
Starting point is 00:50:28 I did Walter's the Baron Me Yeah I'm okay with that Two of me I did two of Teddy After I said I don't think it's a good idea I said I don't really like the
Starting point is 00:50:40 I don't like the idea of Of putting out to the aunt Hey buy a picture of my dog That's so fucking like People want it though Did you say you're getting the paw print Yes I'm going to be doing the paw print on Yes they do
Starting point is 00:50:53 They put them on a lottery ticket I'd be curious I got to be honest. I'd be curious to see if he could sell some teddy pictures. I bet you could. And I don't like shitting on the guy. As much as people are like, yeah, right. I don't like doing this.
Starting point is 00:51:07 I don't like being like because I love when he does bring something to the table an idea. So then when I have to shoot it down, I know it's disappointing. And he feels like, oh, my ideas, you hate. So you think you're your ideas, then you love him. What idea did I steal from you? Please. I've suggested a Tesdiopoly TSDopoli
Starting point is 00:51:29 TSDO You suggested that I suggested it years ago Oh It's even on it's It's even on it's even on When did I ever say I thought a testoply
Starting point is 00:51:38 You didn't You didn't you didn't You said it was a horrible idea You didn't like it It was I said it's a horrible I did because the amount of work That would have to go into it
Starting point is 00:51:44 Would be fucking monumental And we did it And it's been a success Yeah But it wasn't because of you It was because of Q said it I kind of I had the idea
Starting point is 00:51:55 It's been on the board in the back for two years now. So, okay. All right. Quit stealing his ideas. So Parker Brothers, has no saying is that you had the idea first for in the Monopoly game. No,
Starting point is 00:52:09 I had the idea to do that as an idea for a patron. All right. What did you want to push anyway? So the Monmouth County SPCA is having a fundraiser. And I saw it and it kind of touched me in a deep down level. I decided to join in. When I was unemployed and I had my cats, they helped me fix them all,
Starting point is 00:52:25 help me get them shots. I just had two cats adopted for now. So if you can head on over to give.govundme.com slash get him Steve Dave before November 25th, you can help me and a bunch of animals out in our area. All donations go straight to the SPCA and are currently being matched by an unnamed donor. So any little bit to contribute will be doubled. And right now I'd like to thank Kate Hall, Sherry Perone, and Stu Greenberg, and an anonymous donor who has so far helped me raise $420. Wow.
Starting point is 00:52:53 $420, nice. Yeah. And you don't want to give away anything else? No. That's it for right now. Yeah. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:53:02 Get them. There's more to it, Q. There's more coming. This is going to have fireworks. It's just going to have a pow at the end of it. I can't wait. I'm going to get a pet of cat. So was all the Nishell 8 by 10s?
Starting point is 00:53:16 Is all the funding? Was that going to go to your ASBCA fund? Maybe now, yes. Minus eBay fees Assuming I see him before November 20th What it's even weirder, cute Is that it's not even the shell It's an AI version of the shell
Starting point is 00:53:34 Oh, that is a guy What'd he mean? He put a photo of the shell into AI And said turn him into a mafioso Like a godfather Like Steve Martin in My Blue Heaven So he looks like fucking Who's that guy in the 90s, that mob boss?
Starting point is 00:53:51 Oh, John. He looks like Chang Gotti, Michelle. It's great. It's great. I love it. That's amazing. You got to give a cut in the shelf if you do something like that, though. You just can't do it without telling them.
Starting point is 00:54:05 That's what I'm trying to get at. It's not like I'm not going to tell them. I'm not going to have, hey, here's sign five photos just for me. And you got to give them money to do it. You just can't do stuff like that. Q, how much your own money is Ming giving you for those eight-by-tons? I know you want to use Ming as the example. but that's not the good example, though.
Starting point is 00:54:24 Yeah, Ming's like on a different, like, fucking plain, man. Well, Ming doesn't represent us. Right. You know? Not a real way, but Gettam does somehow represent us. So, you know, we have to contend with that. And I don't, and I'm not coming down like I was like furious about it. I was just like, I don't think this is the way we want to treat, you know, the people who we deal with.
Starting point is 00:54:51 who are our friends and who are we rely on you know to come in and help us out on the on the on the patron and everything that's all otherwise all the other ideas like i still say it's a fucking it's going to be hard to top when you put rubber bands around the fucking hangers at the stash so you're close you've been coasting on that for a while you're getting closer every day top of that one so how about factor Factor? Uh, IE factor, QEE Factor, Walt gets a pass. Uh, again, it would eat factor if you could afford it or they were giving them a free factor. Yeah, I've had some factors.
Starting point is 00:56:32 It's delicious. Have you had some factor? Yeah. All right. You like it? Yes. All right. That's all we need to say.
Starting point is 00:56:38 Let's get real and let's eat real. Head to factor meals.com slash 50-E-SD-50 off and use code T-E-SD-50 off to get 50% off and one free breakfast item per box for one year, while supply. lies last until 1031, 2026. That's code T-E-S-D-50 off at factormeals.com, T-E-S-D-50 off at FactorMeals.com, and see their website for more details. And then we have Walt's favorite sponsor. All right, we got four this week, huh?
Starting point is 00:57:07 Yeah, because we skipped last week. Apologies to everyone. Q got a cold. He was felled like the Martians and... War of the World. World. World. I was fucked.
Starting point is 00:57:16 I forgot about that. Yeah, I got hit hard, man. That was brutal. I worry about your constitution sometimes, Q. Like, as you get older, I'm like, I can't have my friend falling ill and, like, getting pneumonia or something. Well, you know what it is. It's just the sheer amount of, anytime I'm in the crowd,
Starting point is 00:57:37 that's it, right? I know I know I'm getting sick. And I went to Steve Burns. He was shooting a movie up on St. Louis. I went up there to see it. I went to the rap party. And it was just, like, jammed into this bar. And I was like, I'm definitely getting sick.
Starting point is 00:57:50 So I do have more than the usual amount of people coming up to me and, like, lab at my face. And that's, I think, what does it. I did, to put your mind at ease, get that full body, like, fucking scan, like the super scan that they do, the Pernova one. And I got the results today. And aside from some mild degeneration in my spine, which is normal for my age, everything's looking great. Love it. Yeah. So no major problems.
Starting point is 00:58:17 So you're shrinking, huh? It's like the start of like, it's more like a bulging disc thing going on back there. But even when they give you the report, they're like, yeah, but it's like it's completely normal. And if it's not affecting you, just leave it alone and don't worry about it. Right. All right. Yeah. That's the best news to hear that.
Starting point is 00:58:37 Where you're like sweating it when you're ready to open the file? No, not really. I feel pretty good aside from, you know, getting colds and fucking flus every other week. So do you think that there's a tipping point where you're like, you know what? I can't do the crowds anymore, man. I can't do it. I think that was five years ago. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:55 I tipped over, buddy. That was it. I've tipped. Now I only do it when I have to. Like, you know, my party and days are over. Um,
Starting point is 00:59:04 for the most part. Okay. Speaking about, just go to the big fucking Wanda vision party? Yeah, except for that. I didn't go in, I didn't go in the,
Starting point is 00:59:15 you know, I was in the area for people. Yeah. For slaught. That makes a show. Yeah. The washed masses instead of the unwashed masses. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:25 You can't wear an N95 when you do these events? Bunny suit. I don't want to be that guy. Would you rather be laid up in bed for 10 days? The boy in the bubble. No. I don't want to do it. Yeah, you just fucking roll in and a fucking, like a six-foot gerbil ball.
Starting point is 00:59:44 We're at the very least like an oxygen tank strapped to his back. No, but how do you steal the? the comic books from the table if you have the your assistant who's who's fucking left to fucking fend for herself with all the germs attacking her yeah really I can't be around this guy
Starting point is 01:00:04 protected in a fucking impenetrable bubble I'll tell you what though it would have been worth it one of the visions it's not one of the vision quest is that is that good when's that drop it turns next week it turns age of all
Starting point is 01:00:20 Ultron into a mere prequel for a TV show. Ooh. Yeah. Like, it's so much better than age of Ultron. Like, it's just fucking takes it. It takes the dangling threads from that and turns it to something like completely awesome. Nice.
Starting point is 01:00:35 People are going to be really happy with it. It's been a while since Marvel put out something on TV, right? Yeah, I think so. Quite some time. They've kind of abandoned the platform, huh? I mean, well, not in a big, bad way to come back with this, but it felt like they've definitely turn a direction, I guess, to the theatrical movie. Yeah, they even canceled Daredevil is done now.
Starting point is 01:00:56 This is the last season. Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah, this is it. Last season of Daredevil. Ooh. That's, I don't know. But they're bringing back all the, all the defenders are back for this season.
Starting point is 01:01:10 That's cool. They had a, yeah, they brought them up on stage. They did. But then they said that they were canceling it. And then the audience started booing and got sad. It was a weird event. Take a good look because you're not going to see them for much longer. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:24 So get them while you can, people. Why fucking, why you tell them that now? Why not just fucking save that for when you're not on stage? I don't think you can keep secrets anymore. I don't think you can keep secrets anymore. I think it was already out there. But did you know he walked past me that Daredevil, that Charlie Cox? I didn't know that.
Starting point is 01:01:45 He's a Brit. He's not an American? Yeah, I knew that. I didn't know that. He spoke. buy like a fucking, like some cockney actor bullshit going on. I thought that made you like him like ten times more. No.
Starting point is 01:01:57 Your affinity for, uh, yeah, hello, governor. I love it. I love British men and women. He fooled me. I was fooled. Yeah, those,
Starting point is 01:02:07 so Spider-Man, you know, he's a Brit too. Yeah, I found that out too, but yeah, yeah, they're taking all our parts. Hey, really? Is it Superman? Isn't that guy, is that guy American or is that guy British?
Starting point is 01:02:17 I don't know. But yeah, they're really good at hiding their British tongue. Yeah. Yeah, they are fool me. The Queen's tongue. It is fucked up sometimes when you see these actors and actresses that come from like Australia or England and it's like their accents are perfect. Yeah, like how the fuck do you do that?
Starting point is 01:02:38 You know, to keep it suppressed and not fall back into your dialect or your or your, what's it called your. You know, like accent or whatever? Yeah. Yeah, I agree. So prize picks. Woohoo. All right. Visit priespicks.com.

How are you feeling about the Lions, Walt? Not good. Not good? I know how I'm feeling about my Cowboys. Your cowboys and the lions are in the same boat.
Starting point is 01:03:53 They both have defenses that can't stop colds. Sorry, Q. It's like, Achoo. But at least I don't see the Lions, the Lions employees bashing the quarterback as he walks suddenly back to the locker room. Yeah, that was a weird little video. But, yeah, it hasn't been a great kickoff to the season for. me. I got the VC box and it should be
Starting point is 01:04:24 the greatest time of moment of my existence being able to watch everything. But when the lines don't win, it kind of like dampens my enjoyment of the VC box. You know, in all its options and games that it affords me. It brings you some sorrow as well. Yeah. I guess it's just like anything else in life. You know, nothing is a cure all for, you know,
Starting point is 01:04:50 There's ups and downs and everything. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Prize Picks injury protection policy. Price Picks has your back when other apps don't. Starting point is 01:06:04 Prize picks, run your game. I do have a sports related question for WAL and Q. Walt's very into sports. Q, I know you're very into baseball. Have we reached the point yet where... People can finally accept that, like, if they catch a baseball in a game, you know, like a, you know, it popped into the crowd and you catch it, you don't have to fucking give it to a kid. Oh, you don't have to. I don't think so.
Starting point is 01:06:33 I saw a story the other day where, like, some guy caught a ball and this kid, he's four years old, his parents send them six rows back to ask for the ball. And the guy was like, no. And his reasoning was, he goes, I've been coming to games for 31 years. years waiting for this moment. He's like, I finally caught a foul ball. And now I'm going to give it to some four-year-old? I don't think so. Well, that's why you should go to every game with a fake ball in your pocket. And then when a kid comes up to you, give him a fake ball. And you keep the one you caught. Have you ever seen that video? Yeah. No. There's a video where this young kid catches a ball and there's this really cute, like, young girl behind him. And because, yeah, they're just, they show in the slowmo. He pulls out the ball he's got in his pocket and he gives it to a little. and she is like, oh, my God, gushing over him.
Starting point is 01:07:21 And that's like the fake wallet, you know, if somebody, like, stops you and, like, demand your wallet, you give him the fake wallet. Yeah. And you keep the wallet with all your credentials and your credit card. Well, you should throw it. Throw the wallet. Yeah, you throw the wallet.
Starting point is 01:07:32 So they have to, and then you go the other direction. That's what I do. That's what you do? Yeah. What's the best I do? Well, I would do if I was ever. Okay. I think you'll have time to go pick up the wallet and stab you.
Starting point is 01:07:46 Because I don't think you're getting away all that quick. Well, with my Ridge wallet, it has a pretty good aerodynamics. Aerodynamics plus it's heavy, so it's going to go far. Yeah. It's going to go far. And it'll survive. Yeah. So this guy said, fuck that.
Starting point is 01:08:01 No way. I'm not giving you the ball. He's become a villain. A little bit of a villain. Not as much as like the Karen, the Philadelphia, Philly's Karen. Is it weird that we've not yet identified her a year later? Oh, they don't know who she? They still don't know.
Starting point is 01:08:15 Yeah. If you catch a ball in his... a kid right next to you and you kind of ripped it from his like his ability to catch it then i would be like i don't know give it to the kid but right we've we've seen that yeah it was like six to eight rows back kids four years old and so and people i saw comments where like people are like this kid is privileged enough to be at a baseball game at four in these nice seats like because they were pretty good seats so like fuck this kid i mean if you don't take your shot though hey what's all the worst that it could be the guy could say is no if he says he said he's
Starting point is 01:08:48 says yes, you got a baseball. Right, but the guy that says, like, now the guy who's saying no is in a bad position because everyone loves to jump on shit like that. So he's like, oh, fuck, now what? Like, I got to tell this fucking four-year-old now. You got away what's more important, your image or a fucking stupid ball in your 40s. 31 years, this guy waited.
Starting point is 01:09:07 31 years. I just be like, I already gave it away. Like, sorry, kid. Like, I gave it to someone already. Like, lie to the kid. Let him get used to life. But you're on live TV, though. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:17 And there's people recording it. I texted my nephew. I texted my nephew. I was like, dude, I caught a ball. I'm going to give it to you right away. Right. That's what I would say. I'd be like, look, I already promised my nephew I'd give it to him.
Starting point is 01:09:29 I don't have to tell you. I never understood the joy of getting a ball that isn't like a hundredth home run ball or something like a meaningful ball, you know, like a Mark McGuire ball or something. If you just catch a random ball, I probably would give it to the kid too. But it's a game use ball. Like it's part of the game. It's part of the everything that's going on. Right.
Starting point is 01:09:51 Yeah. I guess like I don't care about baseball at all in any way, shape, or form. So if I caught a ball, like I happened to be at a game and I caught a ball, it would be meaningless to me. Hey, speaking of baseball, I saw the Yankees were in the playoffs and how they do. Not good. No. They're out already? Not good.
Starting point is 01:10:07 Oh, they're out already? What was it, a one game in elimination? No, they lost three out of five. They lost the... Oh, shit. That happened. So they played fucking three games. already?
Starting point is 01:10:18 They're gone, buddy. Huh? Yeah, they're gone. Wow, that was incredibly fast. It felt like it was only last week they were talking about the series. Yeah, they lost the first two games right away. It was boom, boom, and then it was just a matter of time. Does it affect your mood in any way, shape, or form at this point, or if you're kind of
Starting point is 01:10:39 like lost the hunger or the interest? Nothing affects my mood anymore like that. No, no. Because Gettom was I'm incapable of reaching those highs anymore. Gatim was pretty upset. It's been a rough two weeks for him and his sports teams. His Cowboys can't win.
Starting point is 01:11:00 His Rangers can't win. Well, they're winning. No, no. Rangers were winning. But they lost their best player. They were number one in the Metropolitan Division. And he's all moping around. And all it takes is me to go like, who's the coach in the Cowboys?
Starting point is 01:11:12 And he can't answer. I go, who's the captain of the Rangers? He can't answer. And I'm like, you really shouldn't be upset by this, bro. If you can't answer those questions, you cannot sit there and give me fucking attude that the reason you're fucking in a bad mood is because your fucking sports teams aren't playing well. Get them shut down pretty fast. Pretty fast. So are you saying I can't enjoy music unless I know everything about the band?
Starting point is 01:11:43 No. Okay. But I'm saying that if you're going to allow yourself to come in here and I'm ready to sit down and do some work and you're like, and I'm like, and I can tell us something's wrong. What's wrong? You go like, fucking cowboys, man. Yeah, like if you're listening to music, you're not, you're not like wallowing in your own. But if you're slamming shit and you're fucking slamming the door and I'm like, what's matter? It goes, Cowboys born.
Starting point is 01:12:06 No, it was not bad? Oh, my God. Heron. Would you tell me the other day I should put on two jerseys? Yeah, I told him. If you want your team, because he tells me he has a lucky jersey, and I texted him, he told me they were going to win because he had his lucky jersey. And I texted him as soon as they lost.
Starting point is 01:12:25 I was like, you should have put on two jerseys. He didn't answer that. I should have walked around like with three jerseys on. Your three luckiest jerseys. You can't even lift your arms and bring a natty to your fucking lips. Because it's so tight. Like the kid in a Christmas story, his arms are all fucking up. While I rub my lucky duck.
Starting point is 01:12:52 Was it a duck? It was a duck. He's a duck and you had to, what, sit in a certain position? Yep, I did. Okay. But you know what? The next day, though, if it didn't work, I didn't take it out, maybe I did. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:14 Yeah, if you're that far removed from it, I don't know how you allow yourself to fucking get down into dumps if they don't do well, though. I don't have much. And he took it. He took it from you. He took it from me. why don't you get into it I'm like why don't you know the name of the coach
Starting point is 01:13:49 and the players and all the stats I'm usually I think that would be right up rally he's fucking almost blind drunk he can't remember anything when the gay's like he's got like fucking 17 beers or empty beers around them I was gonna
Starting point is 01:14:12 we were gonna hit learn something today but it's a visual so we're gonna save that Okay. Okay. Actually, too, there's a Hanukkah Barbie and there's a Nazi Barbie that have just been released. Yeah, I know, really opposing Barbies, but we'll wait until next time because the visuals are important here. Why would there be visuals next time?
Starting point is 01:14:32 Because Q will be here because we can't see anything on the screen without, yeah. Okay. I think I meant visuals for the audience. For the audience. Yeah, no, no. Well, I try to put the articles in the show notes, so. Yeah. We're recording the Halloween episode.
Starting point is 01:14:46 next week, right? Yes, next week is the Halloween episode, the yearly much anticipated Halloween episode. Me and Gatam just put it to bed yesterday. Nice. It took us quite a while to get it all ready, but it is ready. Will Rogers help me with it? He is the Halloween guru. It seems like every Halloween
Starting point is 01:15:09 he has had some really good ideas for the last couple years. I had to make sure we have just a right amount of Sven Goli in it. No Spanguli for all you who don't like Sven Gulli. A living legend, a pop culture giant. These guys don't like
Starting point is 01:15:28 it, sad. I did have a question for Walt, which was I was watching a short clip on YouTube of the Price is Right. We've all seen... Classic. Classic Price is Right. Yeah, like old school Price is Right. Yep. Bob Barker. Now,
Starting point is 01:15:43 in order to be on that show and to be like, you know, on the dais, you have to really be over the top excited. Now, we've all seen fake Walt on comic book, man. I was wondering, could you muster that level of energy to be on the prices right? Could you do that? Well, how'd they know that person was going to be overly excited,
Starting point is 01:16:07 though, until they called them. They didn't know how they would do that. No, no, no. But I think every person there is just like, I got to be overly excited. Otherwise. Yeah, like, they, They dress up in costumes.
Starting point is 01:16:17 The audience goes knowing they're going to get selected because of a certain way they're dressing or a certain way they're acting. But not let's make a deal where they're in costumes. Price is right was. Well, they wear shirts and stuff like Pick Me, Bob, like that kind of shit. Okay. And I believe they have people. They will dress in costumes and stuff like that. So if I went in, I played it's cool, like Joe Cool.
Starting point is 01:16:39 And I was like, I don't care if I'm fucking picked or not, bro. Yeah, they're not going to be happy with that. They're not picking me. No. Nope. You got to do fake Walt times 100. Oh, man. I don't know. They probably interview you beforehand, I would imagine. Yeah, from what I've heard.
Starting point is 01:16:54 As the audience comes in, they... Yeah, from what I've heard, when they're handing out the name tags. No, the name tags. They have people who are judging how excited the people are and if they're going to be good candidates. So it's not a random thing where they're just like, come on down. I don't believe so. You're the next contestant. No.
Starting point is 01:17:10 So it's not just a random thing. Wow. So that would really piss me on. if I fucking went out there and I didn't get picked then. I've also heard that sometimes on, it's like you're calling in for like a radio show to win a contest. If you answer when they answer the phone, you're excited like,
Starting point is 01:17:24 oh my God, I'm in the caller. They'll sometimes pick you because they'd rather have an excited person on the phone when they reveal the winner. Okay. And they'll say like, oh, yep, you were number 100.
Starting point is 01:17:34 Oh. Could you do it, Kew? Could you, could you muster that level of excitement? Yeah. If I wanted to do it, I would do it right.
Starting point is 01:17:43 Yeah. yeah, that's why I wouldn't do it. But if I was, let's say I started dating someone that was like super into it, you know what I mean? And she was like, all I haven't wanted to do is go on the prices right. Right. And do it. I could get into it. I could, I could put something on and pretend to be fucking happy. Pretend to be happy. Yeah. And like, you know, instead of being like, what the fuck am I doing here? Right. Yeah, I would do it. I could do it. And by the way, how awesome would it be to be on the
Starting point is 01:18:14 price is right. Like that sounds like a pretty great. A pretty fun time. Yeah. Yeah. I'd be into that. Yeah. Some of those games, man, like watching this old school game, I was just like, how the
Starting point is 01:18:23 fuck, like she had to guess the numbers, like the, she basically had to guess the price of a car. Right. And she was only one number off. And she didn't win the car, but I was like, Christ almighty. Like these games are. You're impressed because somebody in 1978 knew the value of a car. You don't know what the current values of a 2026 car.
Starting point is 01:18:44 Depends on the car. Like, I couldn't, I could never guess exactly the amount of a car. Could you? I think I could come pretty close to the, what, uh, close don't count, brother. You got to get it exact, otherwise you lose. I, well, isn't it like one over? Like, you know, as long as you don't go a dollar over, like. No, no, that's for like just to get on to win the car and stuff.
Starting point is 01:19:05 The showcase showdown. Give me a fucking brand of car. Well, I'm not going to give you your car because you might know. Let's say it. Let's say a, like Q drives, like a Jeep Wrangler. Jeep Rangler, they still make that? Sure. Sure do.
Starting point is 01:19:19 Yeah, they probably have like five different models. Yeah, see? So at 2026? Yep. 37. Snuggins! Snoog! Snoot, Sood, Sood, Soodoo, and, too, and, I'm going to say 37.
Starting point is 01:19:34 38, 8. 8.50. 2026, Jeep Rangler, Rubicon, four-door, sorry, two-door model. Yeah. 37, 850. That's what you think the MSRP is. Yeah. Q, 2026 Jeep Rangler, Rubicon, two door. You're picking one of the most expensive models.
Starting point is 01:19:56 Give them the sport. Give them the, like, let's give them a shot at winning this. The Rangler Sport. Because, yeah, because the Rubicon's going to be like start at $60 grand or something like that. Okay. Okay. So, 2226, Jeep Rangler, Sport, two-door model. Two doors.
Starting point is 01:20:15 This is not a Jeep. It's a Jeep. It's a Jeep, it's a Wrangler. 34650. What is it? 36035. Pretty close. I mean, it's not exact, but it's a, I'm in the ballpark.
Starting point is 01:20:35 You're definitely in the ballpark, but to win the game. It seems really impossible. You're also guessing five numbers. You only had to guess four. So it's more difficult for her. But don't give me like chances. Let me for you, rather. Don't give me chances like they like the horn.
Starting point is 01:20:48 honks, you have four numbers right or the, you know. She got a chance to change one number. Okay. And she changed the wrong number. Oh. What a shame. I just think, yeah, I just think if you were kind of up to date on the current values of cars, I don't think it would be that daunting a task.
Starting point is 01:21:07 All right. Well, let's say not even cars. Let's say a gallon of milk. Okay. How much is a gallon of milk these days? I would say it's got to be close to $4.99. $4.99? The average price of a gallon of milk.
Starting point is 01:21:21 Second, 369. Okay. I was thinking a whole milker. Right. This is skim we're talking. How about buttermilk, Q? There was a guy he went all both showcases because he went and memorized all the prices for all the items that they averagedly used on prices, right? Yeah, there was a guy who figured it out.
Starting point is 01:21:45 There's a whole documentary about him. Yeah. Who figured out. And they thought he cheated and they turned out now like he was just like almost like the guy who figured out the patterns on. Yeah, but that guy, that's not the same, I don't think. In what sense? Because if you memorize, you don't have no idea if those items are going to show up on the game show. But if you're memorizing the pattern, you know for a fact that you're gaming the system.
Starting point is 01:22:14 But I'll say, like let's say they use 400 items. on average in a season of the prices rate, just memorizing those 400 items. That's just doing like rain man shit. Yeah, that is definitely. I don't think it's like rain man. I'm like, there's people like you who memorize sports scores.
Starting point is 01:22:27 I think it's the same level. I consider myself a kind of a rain man. A drizzle man. I think he more of a Tom Cruise than a Dustin Hoffman. Oh. You could sell that teddy photo now. And the last thing, Q, I'm not a Tom Petty fan. Okay.
Starting point is 01:22:50 But I did learn something very interesting about Tom Petty. The song I Won't back down. Yeah. Was written, I did not know this. It was written because somebody, an arsonist, tried to fucking wipe out him and his family in 1987. Yeah, burned down his home. Burned down his house. They were trying to kill him in his family.
Starting point is 01:23:11 And they never found the guy. They never found whoever did it. Never found out who it was. Yeah, kind of nuts, right? Any motive, like what was the motivation? Was he? They don't fucking know. There was clearly arson.
Starting point is 01:23:23 Somebody chose his house and went to burn it down. Also, it may have been. He didn't even know it was Tom Petty's house. I think they, I think the prevailing thing. I don't remember the exact sentence in out of the cases was like somebody targeted Tom Petty's house to burn it down. What state was in? That's rough.
Starting point is 01:23:42 California, probably, right? Yeah, I think it was California. Yeah. So he got the last fucking laugh, man He wrote a fucking hit song about it Probably bought about fucking 400 houses off the residuals of that song Yeah, really
Starting point is 01:23:55 Go ahead burn one I don't give a fuck I got fucking 399 more Good old time Yeah, so I thought that was pretty interesting Yeah, his wife and his daughter lived in the San Fernando Valley of Encino They moved into the house in the mid-80s He achieved major success
Starting point is 01:24:14 and then some fucker tried to burn down. He said it was arson. They found evidence where somebody had cut a hole in the back fence on a hill and had been watching the house probably for a period of time. And really early one morning they came down and set the house on fire. It was a wooden house, so it went up really quickly, the whole place, just like a matchbox. It went up really fast, added Tom Petty. Fucking nuts. Fire report caused a million dollars in property damage.
Starting point is 01:24:37 But fortunately, some of Petty's original tapes were salvaged. Yeah, they say his recording students. was in the basement. That kind of helped save a lot of stuff. Yeah. So all this shit didn't get burned up. Thank God. Which is good.
Starting point is 01:24:51 Genius. Which is good. Genius man. Genius level. I got my Tom Petty shirt on that. Yeah, I was going to say. Yeah, that's pretty. Oh, there you go.
Starting point is 01:24:57 I haven't noticed that. That's my guy. All right. Got anything else, Walt? I was wanted to ask you guys, why do you think that the name Dick is short for Richard? I have always wondered that And somebody asked me that today And I didn't know
Starting point is 01:25:18 I didn't know the answer There was a couple of things My daughter asked me that And she also said to me When I was like I saw I was upset about the lions Not as upset as Gidem was But she said something that was so profound And so like made me go
Starting point is 01:25:32 Like just put my world Just kind of like flipped it immediately Who the fuck cares She said something To the effect that just made me go I had no answer for. Maybe I thought you guys might have an answer. Why don't you just root for the team that's going to win?
Starting point is 01:25:51 And then you'll always be happy. Like Jimmy. I was just like, whoa, that is putting it, like taking it and stripping it down to its most simplest form. But just like, just be just whoever wins at the end, just say that was the team you're rooting for. And you'll always be in a good mood. but you're not rooting you're like I hope they don't win but if they do I guess I'll be happy
Starting point is 01:26:20 the rooting's gone you're just waiting so you wins but there's no stress there's no anxiety there's like you could just sit there and eat put your feet up and be like what I don't care if the scores just tell me when it's over what kind of a yeah but like what kind of a monster
Starting point is 01:26:36 sits there and roots for like the bigger guy to win I don't know. Like, don't we want the underdog to win? Isn't that what we want? It doesn't matter. Like, so if the underdog wins or the favorite team wins, all that matters is that you just say when it's over, oh, that's a team I wanted to win.
Starting point is 01:26:59 Who are you telling this to yourself? Yourself? Well, I mean, I'll try this, Walt. I'm willing to try this. Like, who's the number one team in football right now? Right now, the best team of, there's a couple of unbeaten teams. There's the Niners, the Vikings are a four and oh, but I don't think they're for real. And I don't know.
Starting point is 01:27:21 I mean, there's a, the Rams are, or, we're favored going in. And you got the Seahawks, the defending Super Bowl champions are the Seahawks. So you, someone knocks them out, they're the guy. I don't watch, I don't watch football. I never really cared about it. Gotcha. So I will, I'm going to try this experiment this season. Okay.
Starting point is 01:27:40 You tell me who the number one team is every week, and that'll be my team that week. And we'll do a little test to see how it goes. Okay. You know, maybe there'll be a hollowness to it. You know what I mean? Where it's like I don't feel I'm really getting anything out of it. Or maybe I surprise myself. Something's shifting things that it's like it's fucking awesome.
Starting point is 01:27:58 You know, I'll give it a shot. I'm perfect for this. Yeah. This is, yeah, I don't have a dog in this fight. So I'm a fucking Seahawks fan now. Next week you'll tell me who the fucking fan I am of next. It's going to be a great Super Bowl You'll always be happy
Starting point is 01:28:14 I'll always be happy It's going to be a great fucking Super Bowl for me this year Because my team is going to win I'm very fucking excited I love this idea This is great Yeah but I think that Like that comment can only come from somebody
Starting point is 01:28:29 Who has Who looks at sports and fandom Almost like an alien though What that person who tells us me like, I don't get why you're doing this because just wait till it's over and then look at the score and then whoever won just be like, that's the team you wanted to win. And you'll always be in a good mood. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:28:53 It's a great theory and I'm on board. I've bought in 100%. Tell him, Steve, Dave. Oh, I had your dick answer for you. Oh, okay. Wait a way. Is it blue shoe? No, it comes from a medieval English trend of shortening common names and creating rhyming
Starting point is 01:29:09 variations. So shortening in the middle ages, people frequently shorten the long name Richard to Rich or Rick. So a popular naming habit at the time was to create rhyming swaps by changing the first letter while keeping the sound. So variations, Rick rhymed with Dick and Hick, which eventually faded away. And the same rhyming pattern created other common nicknames from that area, such as Will turning into Bill or Rob turning into Bob. So it was just an English rhyming thing, that cockney shit they do. Wow. Cool. All right.
Starting point is 01:29:42 There you go. Okay. See, people, people, I hope people didn't tune out when they heard, uh, tell them Steve Dave. Because now we've learned. I don't think they missed anything. Nah, that's okay. All right.
Starting point is 01:29:54 Bye, everybody.
