Starting point is 00:00:00 And we're live and we're met. No, no, no, no, no, no. Stop. Yeah. Stop. Stop. Okay. Tom.
Starting point is 00:00:09 Yes. Why are you upset today? And we'll get into why I'm upset today. Why are you upset today? I want to take this, Tom? You do it. And this is going to be, guys, guys, if you don't like my rant or whatever, this is going to be.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Turn this shit off. This is the episode is mostly going to be rants. If it doesn't, like if we hit 50 minutes, like, sorry. No mailbag or whatever. Like, you guys know we're good. We'll get you. But like, so the last 24 hours or so, I have been arguing, well, making arguments of then being ignored or not.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Condescended to, frankly. Condescend it to by, in history circles, a pretty well-known guy, Brett Devereaux, famous for the blog, a collection of unmitigated pedantry. I'm going to say, I'm not a bitch, right? I'm not a coward. I know. I've met you. I won't say that his blog sucks because he's a good military historian.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Do you want to say it? I can say it. I mean, you could say it. Yeah, I think his blog sucks. Yeah, you could say. I like his blog. I'm not going to read it anymore. No.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Because I know who he is. Right. Which is a coward. Right. You know, you're a knee thing. Look up that one in history. That's not in your field. But you're a knee thing.
Starting point is 00:01:25 The eret nithing. So, Breit, is a poster child of white guy who gets expertise in a field believes his doctorate is universal believes his doctorate is universal. This is crazy how they make universal
Starting point is 00:01:44 doctorates, right? Many such cases. As two assholes with one master's degree between them. Well, oh yeah, you don't have your... I don't have one. Yeah, that's the joke. That joke, yeah, yes, right, yes. I'm on one hour's sleep. I spent all night posting. I know, I saw.
Starting point is 00:02:00 This is the thing. My wife was like, no, you were right. She wasn't like, you shouldn't have stayed up. She was like, no, you're like right to be mad. Like, my wife does not encourage me staying up late posting because I get cranky and mean. I am fueled by anger right now. Not because, oh, I'm owned. Because you are a coward.
Starting point is 00:02:20 You do not engage when people critique you. You, all right, I don't, I want to actually like timeline this instead of rant, like I said. Do you want to set the scene? Do you want to set the table? Set the table for these folks? So Brett Devereaux has, so the thing we have in common is we both have a bachelor's degree in history, right? And that's where I actually outclass him because I minored in PolySai effectively, like, you know, all but. That's not, that's not, you should.
Starting point is 00:02:48 It's not real. Listen, I have two parents with policy undergrad degrees. I specialize in political philosophy. So I have read, I have read just like, I don't get into this. I've read everything from like, like, Aristotle, like Aristotle, like Aristotle,
Starting point is 00:03:02 Plato, you know, through, through, um, Bakiavelli, Hobbs, Locke, Smith,
Starting point is 00:03:08 Marx. That's where I was introduced all this stuff. I was a fucking libertarian. Like, but I still know these things. I read these things. I don't have a PhD,
Starting point is 00:03:18 right? But I'm not an idiot. And I am well read. And I have a fucking master's degree. It's not in history, but it's an education. And I got it from a real school. So,
Starting point is 00:03:28 let's let's let's let's be real hang on i'm on his cv now give you want a cell phone number i'm not listen if brett if you're listening to this if you're not a coward you'll be listening to this i'm not threatening or anything i would love to talk to you in person about this i would love for you to be my dms and actually engage with me honestly but you won't but let's get to this so he has a he has a bachelor's he he has a bachelor's he hey hey hey other people we know friend of the show my went to UMass. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:04:01 He got his master's in classical Siv at Florida State. Not a real school. Not real school. Go Gators. He got his Ph.D. in history and NC Chapel Hill. His dissertation was the material and social costs. Because it was going to do or what's going on? You ready?
Starting point is 00:04:17 This is his dissertation. I want to tell me, is this about 20th century political ideology? The material and social costs of Roman warfare in the third and second century is BC. Is that 20th century political ideology? No, I don't think it is, Tom. No. The only connection is that the name of the political ideology we'll be talking about has its origins in Rome. Fascism.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Yeah, fascism. We're going to be talking about fascism today, folks. All right. He's a well-published scholar, right? I, he is, again, I'm not saying this guy is a fucking, he doesn't know his shit in his field. He knows how to count the rivets on a Roman helmet. He knows, like, What a lorica Hamadas, like, how the rings were constructed, how the Romans, you know, how much salt they gave or whatever the fuck they did.
Starting point is 00:05:05 You know, how the, how many Dix, they needed to draw on the walls where the camp was considered complete. Did he put Dix facing a different direction in the cardium? Because guess what, Brett, I studied Roman history too. I'm not a fucking PhD in it, but I don't know what I know a thing or two about it. You know? I got to say. So I'm reading his CV too. I want to sit the scene for you at my house.
Starting point is 00:05:25 I am sitting here at my living room table, talking to you, because I was too lazy to go to my office. And I have a laptop now. To my right is Corinne, who is doing her level best to ignore us. Tor, I appreciate it. Yeah, I was here first. I was here first. You were not here first. You literally weren't.
Starting point is 00:05:47 What are you talking about? No, you literally weren't, though. Can you just let her know that I appreciate it? Yeah, Tom appreciates it. Back to the arguing. So this. Chalkle fuck. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Listen, I got in a beef online the other day, as we know. We're going to get to that. This is the grievances episode. We got to do these like, we got to do these like once a quarter.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Yeah. You know what? Because it's funny. We talked last week about how we don't get like angry anymore. Well, we're fucking getting angry now. We're back.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Yeah, we're so back. I'm thinking we're back. So hang on. Hang on. So if you'll take a journey with me, Tom, and scroll down, on his CV to public engagement. Yes.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Fuckface. With podcast interviews. Yes. As public engagement. Fuck off. If we had like any guest, any guest who went on, well, there's your problem. Any guest, you included and said, well, for public speaking, I've been on a couple pods, I would shoot you in the face.
Starting point is 00:06:52 I would be, I would be consumed by rage. I really, I really be so. He's really popular on the boiled leather audio hour. I don't know what that is. I don't know what that is. The state with Brett Devereaux on three moves ahead. Econ talk. What is this?
Starting point is 00:07:05 Frem and Mirage. He's not, he's not, he, apparently he does have some, like, Roman economy stuff, which is fine. Great. You do not have expertise in 20th century political economy. You're not, you're not a scholar in World War II. You play hearts of. Iron 4 a lot, dude. It's in your fucking CV.
Starting point is 00:07:28 You play Europa Universe Ellis. So do I. Hang on. You are a paradox brain, my friend. I don't want to, I, I am reluctant to say the following, but I'm going to say it anyway because again, grievances episode. Yeah. So I looked up the boiled leather audio hour.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Yeah. They are a George R.R. Martin. Okay. Podcast. He's a nerd. Boy, that's fine. He actually has great post on token. Which is fine.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Hang on a damn second. And I was like, okay. you listing a podcast appearance. So certainly they have like a huge amount of listeners, right? Because it would, no, 258 people on Patreon. Okay. Okay. That's not, that's not.
Starting point is 00:08:08 That's comparable to us. That's us. Yeah. If you went on this podcast, unless you're Matt, which we got to schedule that at some point. Oh, yeah, we do. Unless you're Matt, I don't want to hear it. Or Patrick, I guess. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:24 U.S. Naval History Podcast. All right, so there's a cut. Why is he on the U.S. table? I might as well take my... He must have a little slap jump on the table right now, bud. Yeah. Kids are learning history.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Work featured in an article in the Atlantic. Not writing an article in the Atlantic. He was featured. He was mentioned in a... He was mentioned to dispatches. Okay, that doesn't count. We were in the Boston Globe by that logic. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:54 He's written for foreign policy. The New York Times. I mean, that's... So is Roz. The Chronicle of Higher Education. Garbage education. Garbage publication for garbage people. Except for my mother.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Oh, he was on a Jonah Goldberg podcast. That's interesting. Oh. Oh. Yeah. He's got his Patreon earnings on here. Yeah. $67,000 to date of 2024.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Now, not our Patreon, obviously, nothing like that. But I'm not going to say anything else. You're not in the top 10, bud. So, Jona Goldberg, you may remember from liberal fascism, suicide in the West, that guy. He is, he is, I can't remember. He's a, he's a right-wing idiot. He's right-wing idiot. He's kind of a never-Trump or question mark, but like release himself in a wiggle room.
Starting point is 00:09:49 He, he kind of regret it that he sort of, his thesis is that like, fascist is that, like, fascism. is actually left wing. Yes, I've read liberal fashionism. Actually, liberal. Yes. Liberal and left wing are not the same thing. Yes. Brett, if you had taken the same polysyclicity classes or political philosophy classes that I have,
Starting point is 00:10:11 you would know that, like, Adam Smith and John Locke are not the same thing as Carl Marx. Can I say just one piece of ramp that's from me? I get so mad when people talk about Adam Smith as like, you know, the wealth of nations is like the fundamentalist. It's not even about capitalists. It's about anti-mercantilism. Yeah. It's about the free market. And guess what? We are closer to Adam Smith in the ideology than a modern liberal. Yeah. Because he hated landlords. And the visible hand of the market is a fucking joke. He's making fun of people. And he was a direct influence on Marx and Engels. Right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:56 And like, like, even if you're an, even if you are an anarchist, you, you can't discount Marx and angles, right? Because anarchism, like, springs out of that first working, international working minutes, right? Like, that's a split. But they, they, they, they drew from the same well. Yes. No, no, I'm not, I, I, I, I don't dispute that. I've read Marx. I don't. Yeah. I, I was a college once. I am obviously, I am obviously a Marxist, right? Yeah, no, we all make mistakes, Tom. Um, it's the best mistake I ever made. because it made me very, very good at understanding how the economy impacts the course of history. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:35 And I would love for Brett to actually be honest and tell me if he just disregards historical materialism. Like, what is your theory of history here? Like, what's the historiography? Like, is it great man theory? Is it like some sort of like combination of different things? Where does system at fit? You modern, modern history. See, he's back in the, he's back in the fucking.
Starting point is 00:11:56 the third century, BCE. Dude, you don't avoid Marxist historiography. You cannot avoid Marxist historiography in the modern day. It is impossible to avoid. It is fundamental to our modern politics. And you can't avoid talking about fascism either in the same hand because conditions that lead to the rise of fascism also lead, also led to the rise of socialism. So let's get to this fucking take.
Starting point is 00:12:20 He is, so he came out as like, I'm center right, like two months or three months ago. And since then, this coterie of fucking little globe emoji NAFO guys now fucking loves him. I, he, I was, if you don't follow me on blue sky, feel free, Tom, Tom Payne on blue sky. I was quote tweeting morons who thought they were getting digs at me. Dude, you don't know who you're dealing with. I'm an asshole. I am better at shitposting than you are. I've been shit posting since I was 12.
Starting point is 00:12:54 your children's or bots. I had six, no, seven now guys go, some variation. Oh, it's not communism. It's just sparkling authoritarianism or something like that. Or if it's not fascism, Melissa, it's from the fascisties region of Italy. Get another quip. Be original. This is your Reddit brained.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Get the fuck off the non-credible defense Reddit, you fucking idiot. That's how you guys talk on there. You sound like a fucking moron on blue sky. and you show your ass. You don't know where you're talking. At least Brett, if he actually engaged with me, could account, right? He could argue.
Starting point is 00:13:31 I've seen him make arguments. You can't make an argument because you're a bunch of fucking idiots. There's like two people who actually like engaged with me and then refused to like continue as I was like, no, I'm telling you this is what I said. Let's get to this whole thing. All right. So Brett now has this like, you know, little collection of center right, dip shits. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:56 He hasn't blocked me yet. Congratulations. Yeah, I have a muted. Because he's been quote tweeting me or quote skeeting me a lot without actually addressing me. I am like the disruptor or something like that he called me. The derailer. That's my new name. The derailer.
Starting point is 00:14:14 Actually, I should make that my, I'm going to do that right now. Account handle. I don't want to change my handle. I'll break this up. Go to profile, edit profile. The thread derailer. Yeah, see, guys like us who aren't insecure, when you say dumb shit about us, we wear it with like a badge.
Starting point is 00:14:44 Yeah, I'm your thread derailer because I stopped your circle jerk. Okay, I apologize. I really need to get to what actually happened here first. All right. So let me pull. We're not even going to do the intro this week. No, we're not doing the intro. I'm not even going to fucking put music on this one.
Starting point is 00:15:00 We're just going right the fuck in. He is still posting, man. He is still fucking, I'm scrolling through. This dude is fucking posting. Dude, this guy, this, this interaction today is making me feel like, I don't know, Stalin might have had, should have maybe killed a few more people. He might have had a point. Because I'm like sort of like the Castro like like like Stalin's like I did a lot of bad stuff.
Starting point is 00:15:27 He did some good stuff too. But like the preponderance is like, ah, he probably shouldn't have killed so many people. I don't know now, man. This is what you do. Okay. So let's go to the let's go to the, um, oh, academic freedom. You are acting as if there is a consensus scholarly definition of fascism across those fields rather rather a range of over rather than. I think is what he meant to say.
Starting point is 00:15:52 I'm not done. Of overlapping the definitions often accompanied by an admission that social submissions are fuzzy and more of a failure resemblance. No. Okay. That's wrong.
Starting point is 00:16:01 All right. So here's what start. Wait, here's what started. I think. Read a fucking book. Yeah. I have to show all those things.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Wow. It's going to be all peaks, baby. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Some of these posts before he showed his ass, I actually am like, oh, I have likes. I'm going to throw and removing the likes. I'm going to throw in the likes.
Starting point is 00:16:20 I want to expand on this. You never want to know your next move, Tom. Yeah, go for it. So, yeah. I want to expand on this on a sure threat. No, I don't know. Yeah. I want to expand on this is a short threat.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Fascism sucks. Okay. True. If it's not going away. It's effectively in a permanent part of modern representative of politics because it's effectively part of permanent human nature. We have to be prepared to push back against it basically forever. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:43 He said that? He said that. That's what started me getting annoyed at him. What? That's not. That's not. What? He, so, so here's, so here's,
Starting point is 00:16:52 Here's thrust number one. Brett Devereaux thinks that fascism is a part of human nature. And actually, I'm going to go unmute him real quick just so that I don't have to like uncollapse his fucking post. He's so funny if he fucking delete his shit. Dirty delete. Unmute account. I've never heard of being so mad I unmute a guy. Then then this is the next post, right?
Starting point is 00:17:18 This is three days ago. And I have been kind of like sub-tweeting him. for during this time. Sure. Yeah. As we go. And he must have figured it out, right? Fascism is not, in parentheses, sorry Marxist friends, in parentheses, a product of hypercapitalism. Yes, it is. Social democracies produce fascist, communist countries, through an almost political carcinization, come to resemble fascist regimes.
Starting point is 00:17:42 See Stalinism in North Korea to evolution of the CCP into an authoritarian nation. My anarchist friends, please withhold all judgment, okay? All right. Cassie, I'm talking to you. If we're getting DPRK apology, I'm hanging. We're not. We're not. No, I have, I have on this podcast, because this, I presume that we are a left-wing audience made left-wing
Starting point is 00:18:06 critiques of actually existing socialism. I have done that. I have said, China's foreign policy fucking sucks. When it comes to Israel and stuff like that, they do some good things. I am optimistic that China will do the things it does. I don't know if it will. But if you're a news site. Can I just do in soft power?
Starting point is 00:18:26 Like a lot of soft power? China's really good at that while we're throwing it out. But I will listen. If you're from a NATO country, I don't give a shit what your takes are on China. I don't care. You are propagandized to such an insane degree. And again, it's a circle jerk. It's funny because like the leftists will like break up and yell at each other
Starting point is 00:18:48 over these like tiny little differences. and then like these these fucking dipshits will like rally around the NATO flag. So next post, fascism is not new. In a sense, it is old. Fascism is the emergence of our old pre-liberal, pre-enlightment emotional gestures bubbling through the cracks of modern society. Suspicion of outsiders, the desire for uniformity, a strong leader for conquest of the outcru. Next post. Fascism with sucks as aberrant because we, because it's in like emphasis, are so modern.
Starting point is 00:19:18 but wanting a strong leader to suppress minorities and lead your tribe and a brutal war which will enslave and massacre your neighbors and take their resources. That was the default mode of most polities before modernity. It's kind of the default mode of most states now, honestly. You know, we just do it through trade and alliance and stuff like that. All right. He keeps it going on. We lived in Brut.
Starting point is 00:19:40 He's doing, he's doing the Hobbsian. The like like nasty. Brut. Yes. Guess because guess what, Brett, we read. dumb ass we fucking read shit just like you can read shit alleged life yeah only people with PhDs can make opinions though um we have changed our environment to liberals so so you can't remove a thousand years of culture revolution so basically he's saying fascism is like this like a bottle up human
Starting point is 00:20:10 nature that expresses itself and is a product of modern society like you're using the modern state to enact these sorts of things. Brett, I'm still manning you right now. Okay? Have you heard of this? I'm trying to make you sound as coherent as possible in order that my takedown is even stronger. You should try this once in a while.
Starting point is 00:20:37 You should try this. And I suggested this to you because I'm an educator. And actually, I have a master's degree in education, something you don't have. I'm a better educator than you, just so you know that. because I don't get mad at my kids when they say dumb shit.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Not to their faces. So this is like an impulse and he said it was not powerless. We had to fight fascism. Okay. People in the comments mixed. Lots of people
Starting point is 00:21:06 who yeah very much so. Yes, boss. A lot of people saying, come on, man, it's a very specific from political economic conditions.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Yes, which it is. It doesn't mean human nature, et cetera, etc, etc. What, what, can I just say at someone like with a, like, who works as a social worker and deals a lot of human behavior?
Starting point is 00:21:27 What a pointless way of looking at the world? Yeah. Just a super nihilistic bullshit. Humanity is an inbuilt, is it naturally not, not nihilistic. Altruistic species. We would not be where we are if we weren't altruistic. Absolutely. Do, are we shitty to outgroups and stuff like that?
Starting point is 00:21:45 Sure. Yes. But is that necessarily baked into culture, big into our. our DNA, is that, like, like, behaviorally part of us? Or is that, is that culturally ingrained? I'm on the culturally ingrained side of thing. I don't think, I think, hey, I don't know this guy. I might be wary of you until I know you.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Might be like a defense strategy when we're like a hunter-gatherer or like you come across the street. Right. Right. But it doesn't mean I'm going to kill this guy because I don't know him. Right. That's- I'm not a cop. Or someone who lives in Florida.
Starting point is 00:22:18 Yeah. I don't shoot a 22-year-old, like, baseball player because he banged in the back door of someone's house, which happened last night. Yes, did. So there's a couple people in here saying stuff. I come into this. I was, like, making some comments. But I want to say, let's talk about where I come into this, because I, again, sub-tweet it, sub-skeet it, whatever. And then last night, he was like, oh, I'm going to respond to you.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Because you're in my comments now. Right. And let me go back. Dude, I have posted so much in the last 24 hours. Yes. You know, saying, I like his work. I regularly read his blog. This is not his area of expertise.
Starting point is 00:23:06 He's not a sociologist. He's not an economist. He's not a 20th century historian. Anyone can challenge any academic, but this is not being his field. Widely opens the field to critique. And this is me in response to one of his guys saying, man, you're really drawing out all the I have no relevant expertise, but let me tell this story in whose work I haven't read, but why he's wrong about the history crowd this
Starting point is 00:23:24 week. I fucking read his block, dumbass. I know more than him about this subject. Because he is a guy who can count the hairs on a fucking Satorian's helmet. You can tell me if it's a fucking Spath or a Gladius. You know, which Oakshot type it is. Oak shot type my dick. Fuck face. Uh-huh. It's type. It's type. It's type. It's type Type 5.5.9. All right. Got a little lightheaded there. I'm running on fumes, but it's okay.
Starting point is 00:24:00 I'm running on anger, too. I, people start engaging with me. I'm going to find his, I'm going to go into my notifications and find his, like, first reply to me. So give me a second. My, my internet's a little slow right now. I love blue sky. What a great website. It's not vibe coded at all.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Because when he, when he commented, I was like, I knew I'm going to get a bunch of morons in my comments. So you did. Yeah. All right. 10 hours ago. We're still not there yet. Yeah, but. 13 hours ago.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Wow. This started last night. Because it was late. It was close to midnight when he. It is 5.45. All right. So here's what I said. All right.
Starting point is 00:24:48 I'm arguing with this guy. This is not Brett. I'm talking. This is like some dip, dip shit flying monkey. I mean, I don't, he's like, people crying out of the war worker
Starting point is 00:25:00 less qualified to talk about and he is. Wrong. I am just as qualified as he is. And I say, maybe it's the difference of our feeds. The primary thing is that
Starting point is 00:25:07 his take that fascism comes from a reaction inherent human nature and conflation of fascism with communism. Because he, he, in one of those, he's like,
Starting point is 00:25:14 China is, is fascist, which is a fucking moronic. take. It is not fascist, okay? You don't have to like China, Cassie. You don't have to like modern China. It's not fascist.
Starting point is 00:25:29 You can call it authoritarian all you want. I don't give a shit. I don't give a fuck. I'm not getting into China. I'm not getting to China discourse with fellow leftists. I hate China discourse so much. It's mind-bogglingly numb. All right. So, I don't think,
Starting point is 00:25:46 and I don't think, I don't think, I don't think, I don't think Brett's a fascist. No. And then this guy, this guy, I'm replying to, again, I'm still assuming good faith here. I mean, I don't know where you're seeing him right. That if you're, what you're seeing, he said he sees fascism as a collusion of our ancient inclinations towards violent tribalism, meaning our modern industrial state capacity. And I say, yes, I just addressed this.
Starting point is 00:26:04 I said that. I disagree with him on that. And then he comes in it. I say, I categorically disagree with his definition of fascism. Fascism is a pre-modern flavor of reaction. It's a modern flavor of reaction. It's, I'm saying reaction here. I mean right wing, right?
Starting point is 00:26:18 Like reactionary. Right. I had a guy going, well, it's not 1805 reactionary shit happening in, it's not the clericals in Paris or in the, all right, dude, just chill. Far right. There are many. It's brought on when the bourgeois faces proletarianization. Very simple right there, right? Right.
Starting point is 00:26:41 This is like the core thing. And for the listeners, fascism is a movement. is a movement that arises when the capitalist class, the bourgeoisie, no feels threatened because it doesn't, it's losing control over government, over its jobs, they're feeling that they're going to lose their power. Workers are not easily cowed. And the workers are getting it too good. So they use the state to oppress the workers, right?
Starting point is 00:27:14 Yes. And there's a merging, and this is what Mussolini said, a corporatist merging of the state and the capitalist class. That is fascism. There are other forms of right-wing authoritarianism. Right. It's not a catch-all. Exactly. It's not a catch-all.
Starting point is 00:27:35 I just saw a DM pop-up. I was like, is this motherfucker actually reaching up? But it's a friend of the show, Stephen. I'll get back to you later, bud. He's, Brett. Not now, sweetie. Daddy's mad on the internet. So Brett replies to me. He goes, that's a definition which consists entirely of stolen basis from a historical standpoint. Assuming causation and baking into your definition is not exactly rigorous analysis.
Starting point is 00:27:57 I'm not assuming causation. It's the definition of the fucking thing. Right. It's not. How is it assuming causation? Fascism is a reaction. Yes. Literally yes. It doesn't spring from nowhere, dude. It's not just authoritarianism. It's a specific type of modern authoritarianism. And authoritarianism is a word that I have issues with.
Starting point is 00:28:21 But we can use it here to be like just like have a ground. Right. And I said, listen, from a historical standpoint, every fascist movement has evolved out of reactionary movement in the capital's class. How can it be defined if you can't mention from which it arises? Authoritarianism and reaction fascism are related, but they're not the same thing. And then he goes on this whole thing. What are we defining here is the capitalist class? And I say, dude, you read fucking Karl Marx and undergrad just like me.
Starting point is 00:28:43 you know what fucking capitalist class means. You know what the bourgeois are. You know what the petite bourgeois are. You know what the proletariat is. You know what the lump of proletary is. Because every fucking history major learns that. Every single one. It's part of it.
Starting point is 00:28:55 It's part of every fucking college curriculum. Maybe not in Florida. Then people are like, well, you know, what about the ones are remandia that was like a student movement? Like, oh, they didn't bring the bourgeois. I'm like, oh, okay. Fascism might look slightly different in different places.
Starting point is 00:29:14 That's how it works. So the nationalist movements, we know this. It's, it's, and he goes on and he quote tweets me. And, and, you know, tries to make me look like a fucking idiot. Right. And, dude, your definition of fascism that it is, is an inherent thing in human nature using the modern industrial machine to enforce this like, impot thing is a fringe take. It is not accepted by, by modern day scholars.
Starting point is 00:29:41 Right. I'm sorry, dude. go count the fucking nails on the fucking Caligulae. All right. Go fucking check those boots out. You are not a political scholar. I want to emphasize this. Just because you are a white guy with a PhD doesn't mean you know everything.
Starting point is 00:29:59 I'm sorry. As a white guy with a master's degree, I don't know everything. Maybe if I did get my PhD, I would finally achieve enlightenment and start becoming a big time Atlantisist. I fucking jump off a bridge. And he does the sparkling authoritarianism thing. He's like, I think the real problem here is defining ideology of political movement exclusively by the way you think it emerges both because one, you may be wrong about that and two,
Starting point is 00:30:26 what if the same ideology emerges some other way? Is it just sparkling authoritarianism? Dude, stop with the Smarmy Reddit shit, man. What? Get, make a fucking point. So Brett has quote tweeted me like five times. Right. Every single time he has deliberately misinterpreted,
Starting point is 00:30:44 interpret it, my take. And I want to, I want to say there was one thread with, uh, he's a mutual mind, tricky bill. He's like in our mention sometimes too. And he's a lib, but he's a nice guy. He was like, oh, well, the, the Molotov-Ribbetron pack was worse than the Munich agreement. And then I went to the whole thing about the, the, the Franco, Anglo-Soviet, uh, alliance and how right, the rabid fucking psychos in the UK derailed that because they, because they wanted to see, uh, liked Hitler. Yes, it did. And I just was like guys in 1936 really fucking liked Hitler. A lot more people that would ever admit to it. Just like in 10, 20 years, so many MAGA people are going to, maybe not MAGA, but like the Republicans who voted for Trump, like, I didn't vote. Yeah, I'm not like
Starting point is 00:31:34 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. They're going to lie and say they didn't vote for Trump. Right. The, all right. So I want to get to the to the next. point here because this is where I I spent an hour typing this up and this dude doesn't fucking engage with it. He's he's busy like typing his fucking shit away, not engaging, deliberately misinterpreting what I'm saying because he doesn't like it because I'm a Marxist. And he's assuming that I didn't like his critique of China that I'm a big time fucking China guy. That doesn't make any sense. And I'm not. Again, I have hopeful. I have optimism for China.
Starting point is 00:32:14 but I'm not going to, I'm not going to, I'm not going to, I'm not going to, we're not getting into that, right? We're not getting into that. I, like, it's, it's stupid. It's not, they're not, like, like, if you're like a, like a communist, China's not coming to save us, guys. Nope. It's not, it's not their policy. They're not doing, doing, um, permanent revolution. They're not trots.
Starting point is 00:32:32 I'm sorry. Um, dad. Well, that's just, um, so let's see, let's see. because this is a I keep forgetting which version of the Portland the Cascadia flag is the Nazi one The one with the pine tree is not right That's the hill to heaven
Starting point is 00:32:56 No no the Cascadia flag The dog flag Oh yeah yeah yeah The one with the tree is is chill The one without the tree is Nazi I think The pine tree I just came across my As I'm looking through this
Starting point is 00:33:09 seven hours ago. So this was, I hate how long it takes to scroll back. I'm sorry, guys. I'm sorry, Liam who's on the end of this, Rand. You're going to get your time. Don't worry. Thank you, Tom.
Starting point is 00:33:24 Love you, bud. Love you too. We want to make out now. Sure, man. I can do that. All right. I do want to shout out all the shooters that came to my aid. I don't, I only, I have.
Starting point is 00:33:39 like one and a half K people almost. These guys got 37k my ratio though I'm getting like 1.5 I actually did the math I'm getting like 1.52% of my followers like reacting and he's only getting like a like 0.3% or something like he's not getting shocked
Starting point is 00:33:57 but yeah I mean you know shooters shooters shoot in all ways um 15 16 17 hours ago okay I said um Yeah, category.
Starting point is 00:34:10 Disagree? There's the reason we do. All right. So this is what he said. And this is like the thing that made me go apoplectic last night and I couldn't sleep. Right. So I said, I categorize, I was talking to somebody else. I categorized with Brett's definition of fascism.
Starting point is 00:34:22 Fascism is a modern flavor of reaction, right? I said that. It's many flavors of reaction or politics is one of them, but they're not interchangeable. And he said, yeah, see, there's a reason we do not define ideologies or historical movements as a thing that happens as a result of causes X and Y because that's assuming the conclusion. you define ideologies and movements by their ideas and principles and ask why those emerged when and where they did. I have a degree in history. You are not history. And I say this, you're not history embodied.
Starting point is 00:34:51 You are not the corporeal. You're not the goddess historian in persona. Plus I miss something. Right. Yeah. Yeah, you, listen, the goddess of history would probably be a little hotter. I'm just going to say. I'm not saying you're ugly, dude, but.
Starting point is 00:35:07 your drip is really bad. I'll tell him. Yeah, you look, you're trying to look like, like a British guy from, you know, yeah, British. All right. And I, I apologize for this being like, I'm reading my tweets, but I actually, we got a filer anyway, man, I don't care. I say, I don't like, I'll paraphrase. I don't like his definition of fascism because it's not the definition of fascism.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Right. It's ultra reactionary. It's far right. It's revocan caste. It's ethnic supremacy. This is my, like, one definition I feel like I've actually. come up with fascism. It's an aesthetic cargo coal. It's supposed if things look like now what you thought they look like back when things were great, then suddenly all things will come into place.
Starting point is 00:35:47 So we got all, you know, all women go back in the kitchen. There's no, there's no black people. There's no immigrants. There's no gay people. It's all just white guys in suits. With PhDs in history from. Yeah. With PhDs in history, final off. Yeah. Suddenly things would be great, right? Right. And it's like no material analysis because like you want to talk about why 1950s maybe we're like prosperous for white Americans is lots of union jobs. Lots of fucking union jobs. And actually a much higher income tax rate on the on the on the on the on the highest spenders.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's not an authoritarian thing you dislike motherfucker. Right. I know the origins of fascism. I've read Gabriel Dianutio's dumb bullshit. Right.
Starting point is 00:36:34 He's he's a fucking estate. he's a little he's a little fancy lad that's who fascists the fascists come out of this yes they come out of Volkish guys who read fucking uh what was oh Carlton S. Coon
Starting point is 00:36:50 and shit like the coming of the passing of the great race and all this race science bullshit all this comes together Jim Crow the fucking Confederacy they had an influence on fascism They're proto-fascists. They read their letters.
Starting point is 00:37:09 We talked about this before. They read like fucking fucking fascists in their letters about black people and about abolitionists. You don't have fascism without the rise of industrial capitalism. It does not happen because you need the classes and the contradictions to be in that particular order. And guess what? We're having that right now. We're having it right now because. the the and i remember i was saying like like not that long ago like i was like i don't think
Starting point is 00:37:40 trump's a fascist he's almost a fascist but not quite no i i i recant that he's a fucking fascist yes yes there are there are fascists in our government right now and and they think deporting people and being cruel and disappearing immigrants and having no you know like no vaccines so the weak are purged and all this shit is is them trying to enact they're they're very weak compared to the Nazis like attempts at this purity
Starting point is 00:38:09 you know the taver rattling with Canada like you're going to go to invade Canada that's Levens realm shit so it was Greenland yeah exactly that's Nazi shit that's fascist shit
Starting point is 00:38:20 the the the there's not that much left to innovate right it's just AI and money going it's imaginary money go listen to trash future if you want to learn about the shit money is fake it's real. It's all collapsing. It's a slow collapse, just like the climate. It's not happening. It's not
Starting point is 00:38:38 happening immediately. It's getting worse every day. The bridge is not repaired. Exactly. Right. Yeah. The bridge is good until that, if the one girder finally goes. Right. And no one comes to fix it. Right. Right. It's a collapse. And there's not one there as we know. The most, and it's funny because in one of his comments to me, he kind of admits this part. The most reactionary class is the Petit Bourgeois. These are the small business. owners, the small-time landlords. Yes, we know. They are the ones risking proletarianization. And I had a writer for the Economist Alliance that no one in 2026 is facing
Starting point is 00:39:15 proletarianization. Are you fucking serious? That's bold. There's no small businesses going under right now. Really? It's bold. I'll give them that. And I called him a red baiter and I said, you know, you're, you, he cues me at one point of like a priority, making him a definition of. fascism. Well, you're your definition of fascism. A priori comes from a desire to paint like, uh, fucking
Starting point is 00:39:38 China, the Communist Party of China as fascist. Which is bananas. Right. That's last night. I'm just engaging with his minions overnight and then this morning, again, he keeps repeating this shit. He keeps quote tweeting me, saying things like to get these
Starting point is 00:39:54 like little approval points from his little minions. Um, again, I appreciate all the real shooters out there. Um, who were backing me up. I have a mutual who's like an actual fucking historian who was like, no, Tom's definition of fascism is the mainstream definition of fascism.
Starting point is 00:40:15 That is what we, this is what we operate from. And Brett is wrong. And, all right. I'm going to, I'm going to get towards my, towards my, like,
Starting point is 00:40:27 this is the third act now. Okay. I'm scrolling up. I'm scrolling up to today. I couldn't get, it's tough right now. with me it works. I couldn't post all day. It's crazy how he can post all day
Starting point is 00:40:38 being a working academic. Good for him. You know? He must be very busy writing his books. Listen, hey, maybe he is fucking, you know, he just says, they're just started his fucking computer all day. That's why I never, that's why I decided not to go in academia. I was very seriously considering it.
Starting point is 00:40:53 And I had to talk with a couple professors and they're like, do you want to sit and write all fucking day? Because that's what this is. I don't. I don't. I don't. That's why I didn't go to, like, working for the Fed. Yeah, there you go. Trying to find his last couple. Is there?
Starting point is 00:41:14 He found another post from like earlier today. I said that someone has a faulty premise. I want fashion to be fine as it's broadly accepted by historian to economists and political scholars who are actively engaged in study fashion. You can call it what you want, don't whatever you want. This guy wanted me to name what he like, well, what is this like weird hyperethnic authoritarianism? I was like, I don't give a shit what you call up.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Don't be dense. Yeah, you're splitting as much as you can. I'm a lumper. You're a splitter. Like, shut the fuck out. And then Bragg is like, one thing I find striking is almost week-long discourse. It's a freeway or you need to listen to Scars of Fash and Prehistory as if there's some strong consensus in exact the definition of fascism or the peaceful and final past. I've read the scholarship.
Starting point is 00:41:53 There isn't. I've read the scholarship, motherfucker. It is. And you don't like Richard Wolfe. Oh, your little pet, your little pet scholar. Dude, Richard Wolf is an actual fucking economist. and he studied fucking the economy of the USSR. He knows what he's fucking talking about.
Starting point is 00:42:07 What's the fucking sniffing guy? Slavarjijek. He knows what he's fucking talking about. The fucking sniffing guy is at all time. There are so many fucking historians, Eric Hobsbom, all these guys who have a working definition of fascism, which is a right wing reactionary movement emphasizing revivism, ethnic purity,
Starting point is 00:42:27 and this cargo-called idea of like things were to be better if it's only just like it was back then in some mythical past. it never existed. And it's brought on by contradictions of capitalism and bourgeois are afraid of losing their powers. So they ally with the state emerge with the state partially. That's what we saw in Nazi Germany. It's what we saw in fascist Italy.
Starting point is 00:42:49 It's what we saw in fucking Iron Guard, Romania. We saw this in fucking Japan. This is what, Japan is a little bit different, but there's some, there's some similar trial. I was going to say corporatist. Corporateist. Yeah. Francoist.
Starting point is 00:43:03 Franko's spin. Yeah, all right. They're different, their phalangis or the fucking weird integralist in Brazil. Whatever are these dumb.
Starting point is 00:43:09 Again, these are H-O-A, not H-O-A, hearts of iron for ideologies that these guys, it's all points on a spreadsheet to them. Oh, how many fucking points to make,
Starting point is 00:43:20 to get Hitler overthrown by, by base spear? Fuck off. Fuck off, dude. You do not, you are out of your depth. You are relying on, quote, tweeting me,
Starting point is 00:43:32 calling me the thread derailer instead of actually addressing me or DMing me. Like I said, they're open, dude. DM me and actually engage in the space. I'll fucking pop on camera with you, dude. I will prove you fucking wrong. But you are a coward, man. You need to have your little monkeys come out. They're little your little shooters that come in and all misinterpret my ship.
Starting point is 00:43:55 All try really hard to get under my skin. I had a guy try to call me a local. I was like, dude, you are making an ass of your. in front of all my followers. I know we're not, we're not so using that word. Locale? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:08 What year was that from? About 2007. Yeah. Like, like, get the fuck off 4chan, dude, or Kiwi Farms. We're a fucking Nazi site you're on the hell. Yeah, fucking Nazi. You're, the dude's like, your ideology is dead and buried. And then he sent me a disco-elisium quote.
Starting point is 00:44:23 Like, that was, like, that was written by fucking communists. You're dumbass. That's a nostalgic quote about what communism could have been, but it wasn't because of whatever reason for our own human feelings because of because of reaction. Play the game. And the reading comprehension of these morons is, is nothing. They are their children.
Starting point is 00:44:45 Brett, you can read the scholarship, but you don't. You don't know this. You keep citing Umberto Eco. Okay, he's not the only guy who wrote about fascism. Shockingly even. Yeah. And I like Umberto Eco. Like, he's a good author.
Starting point is 00:45:00 He's a medievalist. He wrote in name of the rose. Yes, yes. I haven't read it. I've heard it's amazing. I'm not throwing shade on a imperial ego. Dude, you are not a scholar. Stay in your fucking lane.
Starting point is 00:45:16 And I think that's why I got under his skin because I said, you need to stay in your fucking lane. You're wrong. And I'm emphasizing, you are wrong because you're out of your death. You don't know what you're talking about. I, to get to a point, I have saying, I brought up, you're avoiding Marxist scholars. Right. Admit it.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Purposely. You don't want to engage with historical materialism, which means that you don't really want to engage in actual modern discussion of fascism because you cannot have it without historical materialism. There are scholars out there, there, there who are not communists who will say, well, I'm a Marxian. Like, I don't follow Marxism. but I do follow like historical materialism and I use that historical method when I'm coming to analysis. Right.
Starting point is 00:46:08 Yeah. I took a class in historiography, Brett. Okay? Like I have a degree in fucking history too. And because we both have bachelors in history and I spent way more time studying this stuff, I'm actually more qualified than you are. Also, I'm a communist.
Starting point is 00:46:26 I read a lot of political theory from not just my side. You cannot synthesize these things without being informed. And you're not informed because you have hubris. And you think you're better than everyone else. And you rely on the approval of your little clapping seals to make you feel better. For whatever inaccuracy, you're a good historian, dude. You're a fucking shitty public educator. Right.
Starting point is 00:46:55 You do not know how to do discord. as well. You're a condescending prick and fuck you. Hold on. Ah, you're full of shit. Fuck you. I rest my case. Your honor. Okay, 48 minutes. How you doing? You're my therapist right now. It's all good. I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope people enjoy it, but you have a rant. I do. Yeah. So, I'm going to enjoy this because Corinne's going to get to hear this again. So as we know, I am a Swifty. We know this about me, right? This is public knowledge.
Starting point is 00:47:37 Everyone's allowed, like, I'm a comment. It's your Swifty. Right. Yeah. Everyone gets one, right? So I posted a relatively, what I thought, not innocuous, but like relatively tame take on the hell site. I will, since we're just reading our own tweets now. Yeah, why not?
Starting point is 00:47:55 Fuck it. Who gives a shit? I have nothing to do I got nothing to do up to this except we've got a Taco Bell so hell yeah hold up one second let me
Starting point is 00:48:03 I for my own sanity muted this obviously yeah I didn't even see you getting into this lucky you I got 9600 likes so that's pretty funny Is this one blue sky or Twitter? Twitter
Starting point is 00:48:16 Oh that's why I don't I don't ever Yeah it's smart So I said I know that I personally put maybe too much value on formal higher education But Jesus Christ is Taylor's soy pseudo-intellectual bullshit nonsense getting tiresome. I follow that up with, quote, I'm your English teacher, close quote, and I say fuck off. Well, I say with like six Fs.
Starting point is 00:48:37 Also, before the Swifties finders, I have seen Taylor more times than you dating back to the fearless tour. Okay. So my beef here is sort of, I don't really have a thesis. And again, I don't really give a shit because this is the grievances episode. but I don't understand and am not sympathetic to Stan culture. So that's one, right? Where to me, this idea that like these, like I understand. And as someone on a much more small scale who deals with like parissocial relationships, right?
Starting point is 00:49:12 Like people come up to me in public and talk to me and come to my shows and that's great. And that's wonderful. But there are people who are like a little too invested in one there's your problem. Sure. That happens with every. It does. It does. It does.
Starting point is 00:49:24 But like, I don't understand this like, oh, like this very milktoast take of like she is a pseudo-intellectual dude. Like I am not shitting on on her lack of formal education. I'm not. She moved to Tennessee when she was like 14. Sure. Became the biggest pop star in the world good for her. We can get into her other shit later. But like we're going to deconstruct Swithyism right now because again, we're filling air.
Starting point is 00:49:51 This is not a sports show anymore. This is grievances. No, this is just a podcast. This is the angry guy podcast. Yeah. It's the collection of unmitigated cowardice, but we're not the cowards. Speaking of which, FCF's ball started eight minutes ago. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:03 That gets, that gets a. Talson, my. Sorry. Thank you. Are you done? So I am not belittling her for having no formal higher education that I'm aware of. and she was homeschooled. She transferred to a high school that allowed homeschooling in Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:50:26 I can't speak to Tennessee's graduation or academic standards. But they produce Morgan Wall. And so you can, you know. So what I am saying is like the whole, I'm an intellectual. She said a quote, I'm not even going to bother to look it up because it doesn't matter. But basically, I like insulting people with insults they have to look up in the dictionary. And they don't know they've been insulted, right? Okay.
Starting point is 00:50:54 Yeah. Let me, let me try and pull the quote. Hang on. And to wit, that reminds me of one of my favorite lyrics of all time, which is from the modest mouth song, Oh, Bankrupt on Selling. So as you're doing that, it's, well, I'll go to college and I'll learn some big words and I'll talk real loud. God damn right.
Starting point is 00:51:15 I'll be heard. You'll remember the guy who said all those big words, he must have learned in college. Okay. Right. So again, that's a trailer trash guy. It's like dream. I want to be a smart guy who can say, I can be fucking what's his name in the Boston movie where he's the janitor and he goes to school. Good well hunting, bud. Thank you. So, okay, again, I'm not like this is like obviously formal education is higher formal education is out of place. Is that a rich for a lot of people? They don't need it in a lot of cases. You don't need it. You just you just need to read. Right. You need, right. But here. Here's my beef is twofold. One, she refers to herself as an English teacher. This is kind of her gimmick. It has been a gimmick since 2014.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Is she certified? No, she doesn't have a college. She has a doctor of fine arts from NYU, go violets. She can get her emergency shirt then in Pennsylvania. Got to do something. But, you know, you're not an English teacher. And to me, like, that belittles teachers, which, like, there are plenty of criticisms to make about like,
Starting point is 00:52:21 about teachers and teaching and whatever and the American education system large, right? That's fine. You married a golden retriever lady. But like the whole like, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:52:30 I'm an intellectual, like I'll give you a quote from one of her songs. You know ball. I know Aristotle. You do not have Aristotle. I know you fucking don't know Aristotle. We all know you don't fucking know Aristotle.
Starting point is 00:52:41 Like, Aristotle, by the way, is like the least, like everyone just reads Socrates and Plato. It's like, yeah, he was there. We, you know, you did some decent stuff.
Starting point is 00:52:49 Right. This is nonsense, right? This, like, and the whole, like, again, I can't find the quote. I don't give a shit. But, you know, I, like, I'm like this weird, like, again, pseudo intellectualism where it's like, I'm going to put on airs just, and then I say this. And people are like, someone was mad at me for being a social worker, which is insane. And because I, I apparently am up to my eyes in art school debt, which I never went to art school and B, no. Is that how social work? You, to become a social worker, you have to go. to art school. That's interesting. I'm going to have to tell the social workers at my, at my, my, let me read to the tweet.
Starting point is 00:53:25 That's a real good one. They probably chat GPT that because that's like a chat, chbted ass insult. Yeah. Go do. It's so, they're so bad. Well,
Starting point is 00:53:36 again, this is, this is the shit, right? Is it like they're not, you know, they're, they're just, you just sound dumb.
Starting point is 00:53:42 Hang on. I got to find it. God damn it. What I doing? Okay. Looking up that bad. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:53:51 I, you sound like a, a fuck insult, like the R-sler, right? Fuck plus the R-sler. Oh, okay. Who's eyeball-deep. Wrong who's, by the way. Oh, no, it is the right. Who's, God bless. Eyeball deep in student loans
Starting point is 00:54:05 with your arts degree working at a shitty job, mad at the world, L-M-F-A-O. Okay. Let's go through that. No. I love my job. I'm a social worker. I get to help old people all day. And on top of that, I host a podcast and my friends. That makes money. I like that. You don't have student loans.
Starting point is 00:54:20 You don't need them because you have a very successful podcast. Podcasts. Yeah, the extremely successful podcast. Yeah. Top 10 actually. Yeah. And it was just kind of like this was, and then she, she or they go on indefinitely, just, you know, basic generic insults.
Starting point is 00:54:37 And then I got, I got the last one in, which I was very proud of. Have you ever listened to Meen by Taylor Swift? I got that in. I have never willingly listened to Taylor Swift. The only time I ever ever listened to it was at your fucking wedding. Yeah, you don't need to. It's, she's a pop star if it's fine. Fine. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:54:54 No, I'm not saying that you do or not. But, like, there's this, like, weird defensiveness of all celebrity fans now, right? Like, I have been, I've gotten Bar, Nicky Minaj stands, Barb's mad at me, Joe Swift fans mad at me, et cetera, et cetera. But what I don't understand, right, is, like, she's not an intellectual. And I think what it gets to is that it really bothers her that she's not an intellectual. It's an insecurity thing. If she wants to be an election,
Starting point is 00:55:24 she wants to be wild red, I mean, good for her. You have the money to fucking retire and go to college, any college. It does not matter. You literally can just attend every course. You can put your name on the fucking building. That's what I would do. If I was, if I was that wealthy,
Starting point is 00:55:36 I'm taking all the classes I've ever wanted to do. Right. I'm getting, I'm getting like eight PhDs. Or masters. I don't really want to do that PhD. Yes, you do. I get a master. I want to specialize.
Starting point is 00:55:46 I get that knowledge. I don't want to do research. I just want to know stuff. Audit courses, man. You can do that. There's all these, there's tons of, yeah. Okay. So, like, you have effectively all the money in the world. You have infinity million dollars. You're a billionaire. And that's unethical and evil, right? And whatever. We can talk about that in a separate discussion. But, like, it's not my fucking fault.
Starting point is 00:56:10 You, like, didn't go to college. It's not my fucking fault. And you have the power and money and resources to do that and you choose not to. Because there's never enough for you, right? because you're a turbo capitalist. If you're Taylor Swift, the only thing that you can possibly perceive is, I guess, Travis Kelsey's dong, by her own admission, the song would. You can listen to it. It's a horrible song. And two, money, right?
Starting point is 00:56:34 This is all there is for her. This is all there is for, like, all these fucking turbo hypercapitalists that I don't fucking understand or, like, an unsympathetic tale. And on top of that, like, these fans, and I feel bad for, like, these sort of, like, teenage girls and then young women who idolize her. It's like she sucks. Yeah. I mean, kill your idols, but like she sucks. And like this
Starting point is 00:56:56 pseudo-intellectual bullshit nonsense where again, you don't need formal higher education to be an intellectual. No, right? I'm not any better than anybody because I have a degree from fucking Rutgers. Obviously. But I... Queens College, baby.
Starting point is 00:57:10 I also don't... What's that? Queens College. But I also don't put on airs of being like, I insult people so you can't understand what I'm saying. Which, let's get back to one thing. We're about to close the hour mark out, so I want to finish on this. If you insult somebody and they can't understand it, that's not a fucking insult. The whole point of an insult is to harm someone or do harm to their feelings, right?
Starting point is 00:57:31 That's the point of an insult. It needs to be something that they can understand so that it hits home. Right. If it goes completely over the head, they're not going to do. Congratulations. You've accomplished nothing. And like, that's what I'm talking about. It's a pseudo-in-luxal bullshit nonsense, which comes for a place of insecurity, but that's also not my fucking problem.
Starting point is 00:57:48 I don't think, again, I don't think I'm better than anyone else because I have a fucking math and economics degree from Rutgers of all places. But like, I also don't go on talk shows or on TikTok and say, I'm a genius and you should listen to me. I have no fucking formal edging training in education. Like, that's why I don't show run. Well, there's your problem. You know, there's a, there's a very similar person who just passed away. And I know there's, there's, there's not everyone agrees to die. Like, die part.
Starting point is 00:58:13 Like, she just died. She did a lot of fucking philanthropy. Right. Pick your moment. Online communists. You could, you could, who has the beef? Did you guys talk about her in one episode, WTYP, or am I imagine? No, we didn't.
Starting point is 00:58:27 You're thinking of Roz's guest appearance on Trailbellies. Because Roz has opinions. Yes, he does. They're not unionized. They get good benefits. Same thing with Costco. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:40 Costco is unionized. No, they are not. They almost want to, they authorized a strike, but they backed down last night. Hang on. I have to go look. What am I thinking of that's not union? FedEx? No, I know that FedEx is.
Starting point is 00:58:54 Like a grocery store chain? Oh, 1.3 million workers, including more than 18,000 Costco workers in counting. Yeah. Costco gives non-union workers, so there are non-union workers. Yeah. Yeah, but they're mostly, and they still treat their employees as well. Like, Costco has like very low turner. It's one of those places.
Starting point is 00:59:15 You know what I'm thinking of, I'm not thinking of Costco. to get fucking Trader Joe's. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But they're like relatively decent. They're relatively decent therapy. They're allowed to sit down, you know.
Starting point is 00:59:28 Right. The, what was I going to say? But yeah, like, Dali Part and like she died and like whatever, whatever you think. Like, she did do philanthropy. She was a capitalist. She's very good at making money. She was an incredibly intelligent businesswoman. But she did actually do a lot of good.
Starting point is 00:59:44 Taylor Swift, you could, how many girls could you send a copy? And Taylor Swift, to be clear, has also donated a pile of charity. That's fine. Whatever. I don't know. I'm not discount. Unfortunately, I do know this because I had to look it up in case I had to get into more arguments on Twitter. Taylor Swift has donated hundreds of millions of dollars.
Starting point is 01:00:01 Okay. Good for her. Good for her, right? But I should be direct. Like, you like, this is where I would like, not. Just cut checks for people. She was like, no, like your house burned down. Here's like six months income.
Starting point is 01:00:14 Like, like, my. no, we're not giving you any fucking, like, all right, that's pretty sick. Like, that is what you're, like, like, I started the foundation. That's kind of like a tax haven. That's really what, like, that's like, it's not. It's like, it's like the Quaker idea. If you, if you give to charity and say it, it doesn't count, like in that sense. Like, if you have an ulterior motive, like, I think less of your charity.
Starting point is 01:00:36 If you're just like, no, I'll just open my bank account and get people money and like send bucks to kids and shit like that. Like, again, like, I'm not, I will never besmirch someone who's like, like literacy is important. I'm going to send books to kids. That's amazing. That's good thing. Like, like, I'm a fucking English teacher.
Starting point is 01:00:52 A lot of my kids can't fucking read. They get benefited for that. They still can. But, yeah, like, if you want the pretense of being, like, a public intellectual, which is kind of sort of like the thread between these two things. We have, like, a public intellectual who's got lots of degrees and he's a fucking serverable prick. And then we have someone who wishes she was and kind of is like, do we stole a valor?
Starting point is 01:01:15 Like, You know, English teacher stole the valor. It belittles people with education, right? Because you have to go to, like,
Starting point is 01:01:24 if we negate emergency search, you have to go to what? Undergrad. To be a teacher? Yeah. Pennsylvania. Yeah, you need a bachelor's degree. You need,
Starting point is 01:01:32 and you need to do your student teaching. You need, like, your 60 credits, and then like, within whatever area you specialize in. And if you're like a, if you're a high school teacher, it's actually more. Right.
Starting point is 01:01:40 You need content area. You can't just have a degree in education. I was able, it's funny. I was able to get my degree of my certain social studies because I had so many history credits. Like, I had like 90 credits. It's just for a lot for you at some point. Like, I had been, I changed my major so many times.
Starting point is 01:01:58 Like, I had, they're like, what history classes do you want to count? Because you have like 20 of these. Right. Extra. So, like, is there anything in particular you want us to put on the fucking, the fucking form? I was like, do whatever, whatever, the highest grade. The high grade wants to do that. Sorry, I feel like I stepped on like your final point that you were going to make.
Starting point is 01:02:22 No, no, you didn't. It's just like the whole, you know, oh, I'm a, I'm a public. No, you're not. You're not. You're not. You're very talented. You're very talented. You're very talented to pop star.
Starting point is 01:02:33 And that's fine. And I'm sorry that that's not enough for you. And I'm sorry that's not enough for your, your fans who again got mad at bangers that I was making back there. But it's not my fucking problem. It's going to be funny if there's more backlash to this part of the podcast than to my like 50 minutes of hatred against the guy where I literally called him like not a very nice thing in old English. It's probably one of the worst things you could call a man in old English. I didn't call him that. I called him a coward and a nothing.
Starting point is 01:03:07 It's basically you're a nothing. Like you're a vile, contemptible creature. And just like Travis Kelsey. Actually, I have more respect for Travis Kelsey than I do for Brett Devereaux because Travis Kelsey is like a golden retriever like lucked into. He's just lucked into marrying Taylor Swift and being a very, I'm good at football. Right. Exactly. I just, I'm not, I'm just not interested in hearing it from now. Yeah. It's, it's, I think yours is like because you like her music, this is extra grading. Yeah, exactly. To me, to me, it's like a little bit of like, I don't give a shit.
Starting point is 01:03:44 Not I'm saying that your anger's not valid But like I have gotten annoyed There's a there's a band that used to listen to called Gloryhammer is like a power metal band But like the band turned out to be like racist And then on Reddit I said something completely unrelated
Starting point is 01:04:00 The lead singer misinterpreted my thing And like called me something I was like fuck you, you're dumbass I got a band from their Reddit Right What a fucking little bitch Christopher Bose You're very talented musician
Starting point is 01:04:12 I'm more than willing to give you credit, but you also kind of are a little racist bitch. Right. What's it? I have never seen so many N words from a Scott. Like, you're not even from America. Jesus. You shouldn't even be allowed to say it, not because you're white, because you're not from this fucking country. Like, white guys should be mad that you said it because you, hey, you ain't from here.
Starting point is 01:04:33 What do you fuck you talk about? That's our word. Stolen valor. Yeah. That's, that's, because you're just stealing KKK Valor. So I guess Taylor Swift, come on the pod. We'll discuss this. Brett Devereaux, I am telling you.
Starting point is 01:04:51 Don't come on the pod. No, open invitation. We'll talk about this. You are going to be put through the ringer. I'm not going to give you a single excuse. I'm very good at arguing. I believe in you. I'm very good at arguing.
Starting point is 01:05:05 And you are not. You are not. As we've seen. You won't do it because you don't have your shooters with you. and a guy who fronts and acts tough only in front of his boys is not tough and I know that because I grew up of fucking Kensington
Starting point is 01:05:20 and you knew that too you know that too it's a general thing if you want to be tough 1 v1 I'm not asking you to fight I'm saying debate I'm not going to fight you I'm not threatening anybody
Starting point is 01:05:33 I'm going to fight I'm going to fist fight Taylor Swift leave that in that's what's destroyed She's tall, dude, she's 5-11. It would be like a fair fight. She's from why I'm missing, man.
Starting point is 01:05:49 Have you seen her? I've seen where she. I know. I know what why I'm missing is. It's the Bucks County of Redding. It's the northeast Philly of Redding. It's where the white people left because there's too many brown people in Red. You can go see. Yeah, white flight is not different.
Starting point is 01:06:04 That's not the point. I accidentally walked into a mission barbecue in uniform because I didn't know what Mission Barbecue was about. And I got saluted like 40 times and just left. That's what Wio missing is. Yeah. So, Burke's counting. Not even once, dude.
Starting point is 01:06:21 Yeah. Why is there a true barbecue? Because we love America. All right. And then I'm hungry. The Lake of America. Don't. All right.
Starting point is 01:06:31 So this is obviously not a normal pod. We'll do a more normal one next week with the start of football and all that kind of shit. But this, I'm going to just listen to this tonight, put it out. You can send it to Brett Devereux. I want him to hear this. I want him to realize that he's a bitch. I want him to know. I want him to know it was me.
Starting point is 01:06:52 I want him to know it was me. Tom Payne says you're a bitch and you will not come on 10,000 losses. Do you want me to tweet that out of the sheet? I can tweet that out of that. Yes. I do. Hold on one second. Yeah, you got you have shooters.
Starting point is 01:07:05 We have a lot of the same shooters, but you have more. I can't tweet that from. the podcast account. No, you don't, well, even your personal accounts, more shooters. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:07:14 yeah, I don't want to threaten your business. You're lively. Fuck it. Come on WTIP. I'll guess. We'll all make fun of you.
Starting point is 01:07:22 You have, I'm a paradox gamer. What's his, what's his, what's his, oh, I got it. On Blue Sky? Yeah,
Starting point is 01:07:28 I got it. Come on 10K and debate us if you ain't a bitch. Dude, do whatever you want. What are we on blue sky? 10K or 10,000 losses? I think it's 10K, it's 10K losses at blue sky.
Starting point is 01:07:46 That social. At 10K losses, that blue sky, that social. Is it? Because it's not coming up for, do I not follow us on, oh,
Starting point is 01:07:52 there it is. Do you not? I was going to say, I put it in the chat. Come on, Blue Sky, if you're not a baby bitch. And set.
Starting point is 01:08:05 I love you, Lee. And immediately muted so I don't get yelled at. that is that's the real that's where the real posters are i want to show i just want to say i changed my thing earlier to the undefeated poster yeah and some guys got really mad at me for that like on they're like you're like you're you're you're you're even don't reference like dumb ass just mountbatten got blown up day so happy that to everyone who celebrates i think i might have to photoshop because rachin set me the undefeated army like the like the little like challenge coin
Starting point is 01:08:35 logo thing. I might have to make that into a Tom Payne on defeated poster. I'd buy that. Anything else before we get out of here? No, no. Oh, and fascism sucks and so do you, Brett Devereaux.
Starting point is 01:08:52 So do you. You've, you think you've you've fucking put this in your CV you don't mess. Fuck you. Fuck you. All right. All your fill of shit. Fuck you.
Starting point is 01:09:05 Bye.
