Starting point is 00:00:15 Adele, Adel Park, this is our extra nugget of joy. This is for reasons to be joyful, we like all of our guests to show and tell. You can either bring something in or you can tell us about it or you can show us a picture on your phone. What have you brought in to surprise us or what brings you joy? I didn't bring it because it's breakable, but I do have it on my phone. I have a hobby because I'm very proud of hobbies and I think hobbies are really important. You've got lots of zips in your bag. I know.
Starting point is 00:00:45 I'm looking... How many zips do you need in a bag? Well, this one, today I'm out doing about four things. So I've got several changes about outfits. Okay, one, two, three, four, four zips. I'm going to just talk you through it. Okay. So what I would have shown you, but it was breakable
Starting point is 00:01:00 and I had to bring lots of outfit changes today and lots of books and different things for different people today. So I couldn't carry it. I have a hobby, which is I collect old plates, vintage plates. And then I make. I design it and make decals, water slide decals that go on these plates. What's a decal? It's like a little sticker, but it's a particular sticker.
Starting point is 00:01:23 And then I write a little message on them that I call them my adages, which are sort of, you know, my great thoughts in life, like we can all wear crowns. The pictures are, if you could see it, I'm going to have to. Oh, she's even got a handbags. Oh, she's found it. Good. The handbags for tonight because I have to hide my speech in there tonight because I've got a speech to do. Now I've got to put the phone back on.
Starting point is 00:01:45 So I make these little pictures and I sort of 1950s pin up girls. But the whole point of that was quite competitive in those days. And women were sort of, you know, a little bit stay at home behind the kitchen sink. And I'm reinventing that. I'm playing with that. So I have like girls reading books and it says, Sh, bring me cake. I'm reading.
Starting point is 00:02:07 And that sort of thing on these little plates that I make. So let me show you. And I love them. And they bring you joy. Huge joy. And I hope they're bringing lots. of other people joy because people keep saying to me you should sell them but I don't want to sell them them I want to give them away all the time to lots of lovely lovely people so here's one for example
Starting point is 00:02:25 okay so let's have a look but you can you can whizz between there's lots of photos of them so clever quite please I'm reading I'm going to show the camera that and there's lots you can flick shall I show another one yeah okay let me just hold on let me just get it as a plate so people see that's a plate there we are and it's really cute because you know these plates were pre-loved and I'm giving them a little bit love again and they just make nice little trinket dishes and whenever I go to a friend's launch now
Starting point is 00:02:53 I always take one for her or him and yeah they are you're so talented my word it's just a bit of fun that feeling when and there's a woman lounging with a drink in her hand
Starting point is 00:03:07 yes you're so talented and there's a few sort of out of office and bop which you know oh I love this one Oh, this is, that's hysterical. It says, I look sweet, but don't test me. And she does look very sweet.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Yes. No, you are so talented. Thank you for all the words. Thank you for putting so much out there. And for also firing people's imaginations because a lot of people find it very difficult. And life is very difficult for a lot of people. And books are their solace. Books are a place that they can go to to escape.
Starting point is 00:03:45 It really is because we can, by reading, we can have lots of other lives. It increases empathy. Everybody knows readings about education. Of course it is. But it's about entertainment and empathy as well. And that's, that, you know, that is joyful. That is fun. And something we can share.
Starting point is 00:04:03 And we can share it for free because there are libraries. I mean, I love it when you buy my books. Oh, I love a library. Yeah. Love it when you buy my books. But there are libraries as well. So, you know, it's not exclusive. It's something for everyone.
Starting point is 00:04:15 But also the wonderful gift of reading a book that you love and then handing it to a friend. Yes, and saying you need to read this. You love this. Well, everyone will love your books. Thank you so much. Thank you.
