Starting point is 00:00:16 So for our Friday, extra nugget of joy, for our show and tell. Anne, what have you brought along that brings you so much joy? You've brought a necklace of scissors? It's a pair of sewing scissors. Oh, goodness me. Okay, pass them over because I've never seen this before. Are they antiques? Well, well...
Starting point is 00:00:38 So this is a... So for people who aren't looking at this on YouTube or... So you explain... I'm just going to... Make the noise. So what is the... Oh my gosh, it's beautiful. So they're a Victorian...
Starting point is 00:00:52 They're a reproduction of Victorian sewing scissors. And so I didn't mention it earlier because I'm obsessed with hobbies. I took up sewing the year before last and I am obsessed with it. Are you wearing anything you've sewn? I'm not actually, annoyingly. So what do you make? All sorts. I predominantly make...
Starting point is 00:01:13 I'm all about sustainability and... Good. using household textiles to make items. Yeah, and I really, really, I didn't realize how much it would, to begin with, it was just something I just wanted to pick up. And I'm obsessed with it. It brings me such joy. And I very much want to...
Starting point is 00:01:31 So give me an example? Of stuff I've made. Yes, but what sort of thing would you make? Would you get an old teetcloth and a sponge? So I have made a jacket from an old table runner. I've made... What? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:44 I've made... Okay, so I made... Okay, well, I'll show it to the cameras. Okay, so this jacket you made out of a table runner. Yeah. That's fabulous. And then I've made like some vintage. Oh, there we go.
Starting point is 00:01:57 I made that from some curtains. Oh, this, I love, I love this. Because my colour, I love orange. Oh, so you've got some orange dungarees from curtains. And they, that top bar. You made that? And I don't have been sown about two months when I made that. I've been sown a year now.
Starting point is 00:02:13 But I'm really in team making. What I want to do is, make bespoke evening wear for like carpets or events or whatever. So that's what I'm moving on to. You could wear a, you could, you could, you could wear, you could make something out of a carpet for a carpet. Yeah. You made that. So I'm making something at the moment that is a pair of curtains and a Turkish rug.
Starting point is 00:02:36 And it's a two piece. It's a really cool two piece that I'm making. Yeah, I've made all sorts. But I'm really, really, really, I didn't realize how much I would love it. I just kind of picked it up because I was a bit. board and the great british sewing bee is my favorite show i've seen every episode twice and i just thought i'm going to join i started i joined this really sweet um sewing club at the barbican library at the end of 2022 and then thought i'm going to get a machine and so my family got me a
Starting point is 00:03:02 machine for christmas and it's just it's just my thing but when i was on the famous five so it's coincidentally that this is from the famous five um sarah who was in the costume department she had a pair of scissors like this and i would always be like Give them to me, give them to me. And she wouldn't. And then this was the wrap present that they gave me. Yeah. Oh, so your two worlds colliding beautifully.
Starting point is 00:03:25 And so I currently, on the weekends, I do a short course at the London College of Fashion and I wear this around my neck and I just use them as my scissors. You are just the world. I hope it's ready for you. I just love them so much. Oh, I'm so pleased they bring you joy
Starting point is 00:03:42 and thank you for sharing that with us. Thank you. Oh, you are joy. Enjoy it personified. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. It's been such a pleasure.
