Extra nugget of joy on reasons to be joyful,
we ask our guests to bring along something that they can show and tell.
And I've been staring at that black box in front of you.
Right.
Okay.
What, tell us.
So in this little box is not a piece of jewelry.
It is a silver thimble.
Now, this thimble was given to me by my mom,
and it was her mom's.
My mom's mom died when she was a baby.
So she never got to know her.
But this is hers.
And it is the piece of her that I have of my lineage on my mum's,
mom's side of the family.
I had a beautiful, I had a beautiful, amazing step-granny on my mum's side,
because my granddad married again.
But this was Margaret Kelly's.
And I just love it because there is something so extraordinarily magical and powerful about thimbles,
traditionally, historically,
but it is also such representation of feminine power
and craft and genius.
And when we made bad sisters,
they said to us that Sharon has this friend
who's an incredible jewel,
I wish I could remember her name,
but she made us all a little charm on a pendant necklace thing.
And Derbler, the director,
who also directed Chameless.
That's where we first met.
Oh, how wonderful.
I know.
I love the circle of life.
Anyway, Derbler said,
so, Anne-Marie, do you have, like, pain?
What could we have?
And I said, well, could mine be a thimble?
And so if you spot watchers, viewers,
if you're watching Rad sisters,
you'll notice that Grace wears
a little golden thimble on a chain.
And it's that.
It's for my mama.
Oh, Mary Alistocrity.
That's who it's for.
And, yeah, so it's just for me,
it brings me joy because of, I just feel the wake of my ancestry, you know, and I love that
feeling and also it's, as I say, there's something so gorgeous about the magic of thimbles
and the creation of things, beautiful things and practical things and what people do and the
stories people tell when they're being creative, you know.
That is amazing.
Do you know, what's so interesting about asking this is that, no two people's,
Joy, the thing that brings them joy, is the same.
That's incredible, isn't it?
Because I really thought about it.
I was like, what?
Yeah, and then I just clicked.
Of course, that.
Yeah, it's true.
It also gives you such a keyhole into somebody.
It really does.
Thank you.
My absolute pleasure.
Thanks for asking me.
