Our extra nugget of joy, our show and tell, with lovely Martin and Shirley.
I have no idea what it is you're going to talk about, but something that brings you both joy, or have you chosen your own joyful thing?
I think we could share it.
Okay.
What do you think?
Have you got, yeah?
Okay.
So for me, dogs, animals, bring me so much joy.
As soon as I look in their eyes, it just fills my soul.
They make a home, a place to be, like, just so much.
joy they bring to me
and I'm going to
tell you about my little dog Iris
who was rescued from the dog meat
trade in China
Oh my word
Which was not a nice start in her life
But I'm a patron of a
dog rescue called
Rushden Dog Rescue
And I was
I already have a toy poodle
And I said I just would love another little toy poodle
For Poppy
And I saw this picture of this little dog
who was just matted, thin, homeless.
And I drove down to Rushden, brought her home.
You don't know what you're going to get when you rescue a dog either.
You don't know their temperament.
Oh, my goodness.
She is the dream dog, absolutely in love with Martin,
cannot get enough of him, jumps on him, like, oh, she literally lives on you.
But, yeah, my dogs, they bring me so much joy, yeah.
Have you got a photo of virus and poppy?
I do have a photo, yeah.
Go on. We'd love to see a picture of that.
Martin, what brings you, Joy, apart from the dogs?
Apart from the dogs.
All right, I'm going to go with something that's quite practical,
because I am never happier.
My happiest moment at the moment is when I am covered in mud and in my garden, right?
I can spend all day out there.
I'm so pleased you put in my garden.
I didn't know where you were going.
Covered in mud.
I can spend all day out there until Shirley calls me in for tea, right?
It's like your mum used to me.
Yeah.
I think Shirley brought me something a little while ago
that I would never happy with, right?
Because we have a few apple trees in our garden.
And so, you know, you can always get the ones that are lower down.
Shirley brought home this apple picker that you can get to the top apples.
You can get...
You can get the windfall apples that you usually have to wait
until they're blown off and they, you know, the rabbits eat them and everything else.
But she's got this pole and he's got a little baskinger in the top with some sponge in it.
And you can get the best apples that you've ever seen in your life.
The biggest, the sweetest, the best ones, the windfall apples that you have to wait for.
That brings me more joy than anything else.
I wish you'd seen behind the glass that the team are cheering.
They were so great.
They've got their arms in the air.
It's just fantastic.
So you get your windfall apples and you don't have to wait.
Yeah, because we have a whole bunch of apple trees.
and we always turn it into the loveliest apple juice, you know.
So, yeah, it's great.
Have you got the picture of the dogs?
I'm looking for the picture of the dogs.
But the other thing I've remembered,
do you remember I said we're sex, we're sexagenarian.
It's not right.
She's going back to the sex bit.
You're big in a roll shop.
No, it's fine.
I'm trying to find a picture of the dog.
No, go on, come on.
So in the last, on Tuesday's podcast,
you did put yourself out there and say that you and Martin has
Sexigenarians.
I only just found that out that day.
So is that what the word is?
If you just checked it?
No, I haven't checked it.
It's just come into my brain as I'm looking for the dog picture.
We've got to check this.
Sexagenarians.
All right, I'm going to check this.
That's what we are, Martin.
Right, let's have a look.
Go on, have a look.
Look at you two on your phone.
I'm looking at pictures of the dog.
I've got about two million pictures on my phone.
Oh, here's look at her.
Hold on.
Let's have a look.
Oh, okay.
That's like a...
He's just a teddy.
And you are called a sexagenerian.
So you two are sexagenarian?
Yes.
Okay.
We'll give you that.
We used to be new romantics.
Now you're sexigenarians.
Now we're sexigenarians.
Oh, Martin Shed, thank you so much.
Thank you.
It's an absolute pleasure.
