And here we are on the Friday where we bring a little nugget, a little extra.
We have a show and tell where on reasons to be joyful, we ask you our celebrities and our guests, to bring in something that brings you joy.
And I am so delighted to see what is in front of me that brings you joy.
It's my flower crown.
I'm actually going to take a picture.
I've got headphones on as well.
Yeah, that's good.
I like it.
I love my flower crown.
Fabulous.
You got it?
Keep smiling.
I'm smiling.
Yeah, lovely.
There we go.
And I love it for so many reasons.
Firstly, because this one particularly is made by a little kitchen table business.
A friend of mine called an eater who makes them just for joy.
Just for happiness and joy.
When I wear it, it's a really good indicator of finding out who my humans are.
Because as you wear it out in public, it confuses people.
Does the flower crown?
May I hold it?
Yes, of course.
Thank you.
You may.
Yeah.
Why does it confuse people?
Because people, you're a middle-aged woman walking around with a flower crown on your head, and it's not Glastonbury.
They kind of go, they smile.
And so it makes people smile instantly
but some people sort of stare
and I always think
okay you're probably not my human
if you don't understand the flower crown
it's okay that it's not bringing you joy today
so it's a spreader of joy
but it's also a great indicator on how
other people are kind of judging you
but I'm also getting to the depleting
estrogen stage
and two things happen to women at our kind of time of life
is we either sort of descend into a beige mac
with all the same haircoat
and we sort of disappear a bit right
Or you get those wonderful women, you know, like Iris Appfeld, you get those wonderful women
who just embrace it, embrace the colour, embrace the wrinkles, embrace the whole lot.
And you see them, don't you, sometimes in high streets where they're dressed in tally and pink
with a Marilyn Monroe handbag and lipstick that's a bit wonky.
And that's the woman I want to grow into.
So I am going to keep wearing my flower crayons.
Please do.
And grow into that, it would be a joy spreader.
I think they're just wonderful thing.
Are you sure you haven't read my book?
Do you know what, Kate, you really, you are.
And like I said at the very beginning and the last episode,
that everybody knows you and everybody adores you.
I cannot imagine anybody not getting you or loving you.
You spread joy, you spread love.
You are truly, truly a magical spirit and you're an earth angel.
So thank you for being on this planet.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Such a lovely thing to say.
I'm also messed up and messy.
Good, but that's healthy.
Normal.
And I do, I do, you know, I shout at my kids and, you know, but that's normal.
And the point is we are gorgeous human beings who are so imperfect.
And isn't that a great thing?
It really is.
Thank you.
