week we do an extra little nugget.
We do a show and tell of what,
the thing that brings you most joy.
Would you like to share with us the thing that brings you joy, please?
So I, mine's twofold.
Okay.
So I posted a picture a couple weeks ago of,
of my British bulldog,
Buford, and he was wearing a little neckerchief.
And on it, it said,
my humans got engaged.
So that is the thing that bought me joy.
Oh my goodness, me!
Do you know, I was looking at your ring and thinking she's engaged with.
Last month, so this is very new.
Congratulations. Thank you very much.
He is heaven on earth. I'll show you a picture.
Wait, hold on. Of Joe or the bulldog?
Oh, no, the dog. Oh, the dog. The dog, of course.
Congratulations being on. How lovely. Was it a surprise?
Complete surprise.
I mean, look at the state of him.
Look at, oh, my human's going.
So a lovely production company I'm working with sent Beaufort gifts in case he was feeling
left out and they got him a collar, a chew toy, and a little neckerchief that said my humans
got engaged. So how did he propose not the dog? The dog wasn't there. So we were on holiday
in America and we were in our villa and I was literally just, we were literally just about to
leave the villa one morning and go and meet our friends. And Joe just said, he said, oh, I forgot
I've got something for you to wear while we're here. And close your eyes, it's only small.
open my eyes and there it was on his knee
and did you say yesterday?
I did. We've known each other since we're five
and we've been together for 10 years
so it was a it was a hell yes
Oh, how wonderful?
Went to a wedding? Have you thought about that yet?
Yeah, but we want to do it.
I mean, we want to get on with it.
We've been together 10 years. I'm not waiting another 10 for crying out loud.
We've got stuff to do.
So yeah, we'll look in the next year.
Oh, fantastic.
Yeah, so that's what brings me to.
That picture just makes me laugh
because he looks so happy to be wearing his little neckerchief
but he wasn't happy in between takes.
He was like furious.
He was like, are we done now?
Are we done?
So yeah, brings me such joy at the minute.
And I will tell you a funny story actually,
which is Doctor Who related.
And Russell won't mind me saying this.
So before we told everybody
and before I'd announced it on my socials,
Russell, God bless him.
when we were at the BBC for the premiere for Doctor Who,
he announced it to the wall of photographers and press.
No!
It was like, and I'm so excited to announce,
and I just went, no!
Look, honestly, those reporters did well
because they did not say a damn thing to anyone
because everyone was just like,
you can't say, she's still not told half of her family.
So your family didn't know,
and he told all the journalists.
It was hysterical.
He was so excited, bless him.
He was so excited, but it was just the funniest moment.
You know what?
Now, I kind of wish I just left them to it
because that would have been the funniest engagement announcement
on the planet.
Russell T. Davis says,
announces to the world that Ruth's engaged.
But yeah, so it's been a right month,
hasn't it?
What a wonderful month.
The best month ever.
And may it continue to be so.
And you've got to be on more and more and more
Telly. Oh, thank you very much. You promise me you will. I'm working on it, trust me.
I've got some really exciting stuff coming up next year. So...
But you're going to be showbus. I really can't tell you now.
You know what? I hate it. I hate it. It's one of the words. Say the line. So what's coming up next?
Oh, I'm so sorry, I can't say it. I hate it. Every time I say it, I can hear my dad at the other...
It's just stood in the kitchen looking at me going, who on earth do you think you are? What on earth is wrong here?
know. I'm working with some great
people and I'm writing, which
Oh, fantastic. Again, my dad, finally
you're using your degree. I'm so thrilled
because that was what my degree was in, script writing.
So, yeah, a lot of
really exciting stuff and
yeah.
More to come. More to come.
Ruth Madley, I say this about a few people.
You are in that group.
You are a joy spreader.
Carry on spreading joy. Thank you so much.
Thank you.
