So on reasons to be joyful, we have a little extra, a little snippet, a nugget, a delicious morsel.
Charlize Bateri, we would like you to show and tell something that brings you joy, please.
Well, it's not my body, so.
Do you know, I suppose somebody might suddenly rip off their clothes.
Do you know, somebody might be like, if I had the body for it, I would.
Right, I am going to show this to you.
It's a little heart.
You can see it's all made, and it's made with $2 bill.
one of my best friends made this for me
my friend called Kate Lee
who has been my friend forever
she's now living in America
she literally left to live in America
the day my daughter
the day after my daughter was born
so she came and she was actually the first person
to hold her
and she visited me and she flew out the next day
and she apparently a two dollar bill
is a really lucky thing to have
and she folded this herself
She did that.
I'm allowed to touch it?
Yeah, you can.
She made it her as a throat at you.
I know, precious.
But she folded the whole thing.
Yeah, it's origami.
Yeah, it's origami.
She folded the whole thing herself.
And I love it because it's a little heart.
And I just love that her hands made it.
And she's a makeup artist, my friend.
And she's literally like, she's so amazing at doing really delicate, beautiful things.
And, you know, she's just, she was literally here.
She was literally here in London.
two weeks ago and she's like she's my mate forever you know she's a good Yorkshire last and she's
really funny and when there's three of us get together me nick and um kate and honest to god when
we're together it's absolute chaos i went to my friend nick's photographic exhibition last night
she's she's a fashion designer but she did a bit photographic thing and it was about um old people
and there was a photograph of three women walking down the street in new york i couldn't stop laugh
and I went, that's us.
That's literally going to be the three of us.
Literally, they were about 80 years old.
And you could just see that the...
You know that thing?
Like, I remember seeing my mum with my aunt.
So my dad's sister, my aunt Joyce,
my mum and her met at junior school
when they were like four or five years old.
And that's how my dad, that's how my mom knew my dad.
And they were friends from that day
and remained friends.
And I remember when my daughter was probably about,
four or five years old.
We were all at my mum and dad's house in Glasgow
and my cousins were there, my sister
was there, all the kids were there, so all
the grandchild, everybody was there and I remember
all, I don't know,
the guys had going to do something and all the
women were sitting, it was a proper old school,
we were all sitting in the living because everybody didn't get out
and we had cleared up and done everything
and my mum was sitting on the floor,
my mum always loved sitting on the floor
and she was sitting in my aunt and her, we were all
sitting around talking and my aunt and her
started like chit-chat and her.
and it was the first time I'd ever noticed
and I went oh my god
and I don't know whether it was because I had a child as well now
but literally I went it's like
everything had stopped out
and they were literally like those
probably as if they were 10 year olds talking to each other
and I thought it's funny how when you know someone at a certain age
it's almost like that's how you will always speak to them forever
because I know that I do speak to people differently
that I know that I've met recently
than my mate's my mate Gillian or something
we've known each other since we were four.
14 and we were literally like, I remember our friend in London thought we were, we didn't
like each other at first. And I was like, well, we're best mates. And she was like, my friends
from Glasgow's way on. She's, oh my God, I thought he's were bickering. I thought he's were insulting
each other. And I was like, oh no, like, when you slag each other in Glasgow, that's like, it's like a
term of endearment. That's like, like, as we like each other, we're just like noising each other
up. And so friends bring you joy. Yeah. Friends are the most important things in my life because,
you know, my friend, ragy, it's like, I'll like call up. I'll be like,
what happened to do, you know, everything
it's like, they're the most important
things when anything's bad, when anything's
good, all those moments that we share
together, cooking together,
you know, we all literally
got together the other night and all our kids
are now in the 20s
and literally all the kids were home
and we were, they were all
kind of sitting out in the terrace
and we were all in the kitchen
and we were listening to them all laughing and everything
and we kind of just always had that moment
with each other going, God, things have changed.
now we're the oldies
and they're the new generation
coming up and it's a great feeling
to have that history and that
friendship with people so yeah my friends
are really important
