So Todrick Hall, we always have this little extra nugget of joy, this special show-and-tell extra for this podcast.
And can you share with me something that brings you joy, please?
Do you want to see a photo?
Yes, please.
Okay.
So this is my screensaver.
It says midnight on it, and it's a pretend playbill for manifestation purposes.
Oh, okay.
All right.
Can I show everybody?
Oh, you've got it.
Sure, why not?
It is a musical that I'm writing and it's the musical that I would like to be my first Broadway show.
It brings me so much joy.
Like, the thing that I think of when I'm the happiest is when I'm working on this show.
And I'm just very, very excited for the world to see it.
It's a cool concept, an original musical with, it's an opera.
All of the music is sung from top to bottom.
And I think it's something that's going to change my life and change the way people view my artistry.
And I'm just really, really excited about it.
What's the thing that probably brings me the most joy?
I'm my happiest self when I'm working on that.
You tell me anything about it?
I can't tell you anything about it on the podcast.
But I will tell you off camera.
Oh, that's so cute.
All right.
Can you say what it's called?
It's called midnight.
Midnight.
So that's as much as we're allowed to know.
That's as much as they're allowed to know.
You can know.
Oh, I see.
Okay.
Yeah.
I won't tell you.
We will talk just as going.
But so this is the whole concept.
You've written the musical.
the music, the words, the story,
and I imagine the whole look of it as well,
because that's important to it.
Yeah, the aesthetic.
I've been choreographing it.
And I just think that I have so much to say.
I am an extreme empath.
And so sometimes I struggle with being able to, like,
separate myself from suffering
or things that are happening in the world.
It's in certain things.
I think that music heightens every emotion.
And sometimes you can say things through song
that if you just spoke it,
it wouldn't reach people's minds
and hearts in the same way. And so I hope that this show changes people's hearts and their minds.
I hope it makes people laugh and makes people cry and makes people look at life a little bit
differently and to empathize with people who have different experiences than them.
Tadrick-Haw, thank you. What a pleasure to meet you.
Thank you. Thanks for having me.
