This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Who would you call if the unthinkable happened?
My sister was y'all 22 times.
A police officer, right?
But what do you do when the monster is the man in blue?
This dude is the devil. He'll hurt you.
This is the story of a detective who thought he was above the law,
until we came together to take him down.
I said, you're going to see my face till the day that you die.
I got you. I got you. I got you.
Listen to the girlfriends, Untouchable, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
I know he has a reputation, but it's going to catch up to him.
Gabe Ortiz is a cop.
His brother Larry, a mystery Gabe didn't want to solve until it was too late.
He was the head of this gang.
You're going to push that line for the cause.
Took us under his wing and showed us the game, as they call it.
When Larry's killed, game must untangle a dangerous past, one that could destroy everything he thought he knew.
Listen to the brothers Ortiz on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What up, y'all? It's your boy, Kevin on stage.
I want to tell you about my new podcast called Not My Best Moment, where I talk to artists, athletes, entertainers, creators, friends, people I admire who had massive success about their massive failures.
What did they mess up on?
What is their heartbreak?
And what did they learn from me?
I got judged horribly.
The judges were like, you're trash.
I don't know how you got on the show.
Check out Not My Best Moment with me,
kept on stage on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcast.
Hey, everybody, it's Chuck and Josh from the Stuff You Should Know podcast,
and it's that time of year again
when we knuckle down to do our annual holiday episodes.
We collected our best past classic holiday episodes
and compiled them into a 12 Days of Christmas Toys playlist
that the whole family can enjoy.
That's right.
Maybe you missed it the first time
we detailed the history
of Beanie Babies, Monopoly,
or Yo-Yo's, and a whole lot more.
So listen to the 12 Days of Christmas Toys playlist
on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
Have you ever listened to those true crime shows
and found yourself with more questions than answers?
Who catfishes a city?
Is it even safe to snort human remains?
Is that the plot of footloose?
I'm comedian Rory Scoville,
and I'm here to tell you,
Josh Dean and I have a new podcast
that celebrates the amazing creativity
of the world's dumbest criminals.
It's called Crimeless,
a true crime comedy podcast.
Listen on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, welcome back.
We are live at One Music Fest here,
live in Atlanta, Georgia.
At the backwoods, backstage, Lex, Trail.
I'm having a fan moment over here.
I'm going crazy over here.
We probably fans for two different reasons.
I'm just saying for all the men out there.
Okay.
We lie you.
Me and my partner, when I tell him this shit, I can't wait.
No, because every day we be like, bro.
Hey.
He hit me all the time.
Like, you in Atlanta, you ain't ran into it yet.
I'm just saying, you've been fine.
You're going to be fine.
We love you.
And as far as beautiful women go, you want to our eyes.
generation of talent and I had to tell you that I don't have no I don't have no music
question I just want to look at you fast I love your freestyle about it I love your freestyle
hey and let me tell you I'm a fan you think real fast too thank you I love you I'm a fan
are you because I used to have the knuckle ring hey and the hound tooth okay they couldn't
take it off of my body but are you serious bro the knuckle ring love that and the house yeah okay
I mean, and just even like your hair cut was iconic base.
And all the girls wanted to cut their hair off with like the deep bang, short hair
cut with the highlight.
I mean, I remember driving the class, I got this crazy feeling.
Hey, I'm going to be, hey.
I mean, the hits are like red.
Thank y'all.
So I'm calm now.
I'm calm now.
Carlos, go ahead.
I hate it out.
Hey, Big Head.
Sorry, Carrie.
We had to get it out, Carrie.
How did you work with him?
Hey, Big Head.
None.
Man.
I appreciate the love.
I've never seen him blush.
Shut up.
And he's really blushing.
Never seen him blush.
You just don't understand.
We're going to get some music questions out the way while he finished blushing.
Yes.
Okay.
So let me ask you this.
You are a vet in the game.
Ping game, we all know about you.
We're very familiar with it.
How do you feel about the state of R&B in 2025?
The state of R&B in 2025, it's actually, it's turning a corner.
It's becoming more soulful.
I'm proud of it.
It's something we're getting back to a place.
I mean, I think we can still kind of filter out some of the vulgarity
and get even closer to love, but we're on our way back to love.
So I love that.
I like that you said that because I'm not going to lie.
I like Ratchet music, I do.
But when I'm listening to my R&B, I'm not going to hear that.
I'm trying to make sweet love.
Yes, it's so hard.
Like, I was trying to make, like, a Bay playlist, right?
Yeah.
Without things that were offensive to him or me.
Yeah.
And it was a little hard.
It's hard.
To stay in the vibe without, like, oh, oh, man, I can't use that one.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
So, but we're getting back.
We're getting back to love.
We need black love.
We got to promote that more.
Speaking of which, what you like to do?
on like Saturdays.
On Saturday?
On Saturday.
Like when it ain't nothing?
Like you ain't work?
What you'd be liking to do?
Man, work.
Play.
Well, my work is play.
So I like to write.
I like to, I might rehearse.
You know, I have like a microphone set up in my house and I might go just sing, you know?
So work for me is play.
I might go to my studio and lay some vocals or write a bridge to something, you know?
You know, so I think that's one of the things that I'm so fortunate for, because for me, I get paid to do what I already would be doing, you know?
What you like to eat?
I like to, I like, I like everything.
I like everything.
I like everything.
I like everything.
I like every cuisine from every country.
Every country.
Yeah, my love it.
But you're going to take itself a country home.
My palate is very vast.
Yeah.
Very vast.
Very vast.
I wish the economy wasn't messed up right now.
You made me at the wrong time.
And you're also, you're very multifaceted.
Like, outside of music, I've seen you been in your acting bag lately, too.
So is that something that you've always wanted to do, or is that something that you just stumbled up on?
I guess a little bit of both.
I was a theater major at Emory University here.
Okay.
So it was, and I grew up, like, doing musical theater and things when I was a child, but I got away from it.
Music, you know, so my only experience prior to becoming an artist was music videos, shooting music video.
That's where you can get your little acting on.
But, yeah, getting back to that was absolutely, like, somewhat like a homecoming for me.
And also, I felt like such a novice.
Like I felt like I didn't know shit.
I felt like I was starting over with it,
which I love to feel like I'm growing and learning something new.
I never want to feel like I am at the pinnacle of any art.
I'm always growing, always learning.
And that's what acting does for me too.
I love that.
Is there an artist, like, whether old or new,
that you haven't worked with, that you like,
if I can write a song for them, we can go to the top.
Honestly, okay, I'm going to have to go with the late great D'Angelo.
And not just because he's on the forefront of our minds.
I actually tried to work with him when he was alive, but he wasn't working at that time.
So that was one dream that is obviously reignited, like, oh, like, I'm gutted as a fan.
And as a songwriter, I'm gutted that that can never happen.
So, yeah.
Yeah, but also Lauren Hill.
Okay.
This is the question I want to know.
Okay.
What's your comfort show?
What's my what?
Your comfort show.
Comfort, what?
Show.
Yeah, that you watch.
Oh.
Oh, okay.
Like when you're on the couch with the sweats and the place.
Okay.
The dog right now.
Family guy.
Oh, okay.
I like family guy.
I love family guy.
I love family guy.
I was not expecting that.
Me either.
What?
I like family guy.
And I like South Park.
I like...
South Park is a good one too.
Okay.
I'm with the office girl.
So one music fest is in Atlanta.
Yeah.
And what does that mean to you as an artist to see a city that you're from and that you love, host something like this?
Man, first of all, it's like a reunion.
Because these are people I've known in the industry almost...
Shoot, I don't want to age myself, but...
I know how old you are.
I know.
I know.
Like, there are people.
in here that I've known for like 30 years.
Yeah.
So it's a reunion.
It's black.
It's beautiful.
Like, there's so much beauty here.
You're here.
We, thank you.
There's some beauty in here.
Thank you.
And y'all here too, but it's her.
And the men, like, it's just, it's, there's no city like Atlanta.
There's no place that you could hold something like this.
And it'd be cool, calm, copacetic.
We don't got no gang violence like that.
You know what I mean?
It's like it's love.
So it feels amazing.
I come every year, even if I'm not performing.
I've been waiting to see you.
Because you get on these interviews, and then they be like,
what kind of me and you like?
And you'd be like, I like regular dudes.
We ain't never seen you with no regular dudes.
And the world ready to see you with a regular dude.
You just ain't seen it.
I've been with regular guys.
Okay.
They ain't here no more.
So I'm going to ask for the guys, though.
Are you single?
I am single.
Okay, serious.
That's what I'm saying.
That's crazy.
So obviously.
That's crazy.
That's crazy.
Carlos knows a lot about shoes.
Let's see if you know a few things about Carlos.
Don't tell him, I'm starting over.
Okay.
My pants don't matter, Carrie.
My pants don't matter.
Your wholeness got deleted.
It got deleted.
That's not did prior to this time right here.
That shit don't matter.
I'm about to be a better man.
You're about to be.
Well, call me when you're already a better man.
I'm just saying, because sometimes love come around.
And then it knocks you down.
But you got to get back up.
That's true.
And I'm trying to get back up.
And she sang about that winging, love me, love me, love me.
Okay.
You know what love was.
See?
He's going to teach you, girl.
Okay.
So, what is Carlos Miller's nickname?
What's his nickname?
Yeah.
They call him this on the show all the time on 85 stars.
I wouldn't know that.
You don't know that whatever you said would have worked.
You could have said anything.
Juma!
Hey, Juma!
What's up, Jumma?
That's right!
Only Carrie can call me that.
That's her little nickname for me.
Don't you call me that.
Junebug said a little bit.
It's a sense.
What famous artist shares the same birthday with him?
She's like, I don't even know this thing's birthday.
It's a legendary singer.
Is it?
Male.
Male, legendary male.
Are you a Libra?
No, I'm an ARI.
ARI.
You're an legendary ARI.
Who is a legendary ARI?
I don't know either.
He passed away many, many moons ago.
But he's very legendary.
Like.
Michael Jackson is it start with an M.
But not Michael.
Marvin Gaye?
Yes.
Yeah.
I love how you're asking.
She knew that on top of the dome.
Yeah, you'd have made it to the lightning round.
She knew that off the dome, man.
Right.
Man, Carrie, we love you so much.
It is a blessing to sit here with you.
You are a legend.
Do you have some projects coming up for?
What can we expect?
Yes.
My new album, We Need to Talk, is on all digital service providers right now.
Yeah.
It's a three-part project, but two parts are out right now.
The third one's coming very soon, like in the next coming month.
It's a project I'm super proud about, and I really hope people check it out.
I want y'all to check it out, too.
Let me know what you think.
Yeah.
Hey.
Do you want to give on a 95 shout?
Sure.
I would love that.
Only if you freestyle.
I will.
I got to see.
You pinkies.
Okay.
Ooh, you got some nice pinkies.
Let me say.
Oh, you got some nice things.
Oh.
Hold on which hand you write.
You write.
Let me.
This is the one you write to his name.
All right.
I like that.
That's the head.
Thank you, Carrie.
Thank you all.
I have never seen Carlos Peters.
Amen.
Thank you, Carrie.
Before, I'm just dedicating this show to all the fellas.
Yeah, she's that fine in person, too.
I need everybody to know.
And she smelled fruit like some fruit or something.
Man, y'all get up my girl, Carrie Hilsey, y'all.
Thank you.
Who would you call if the unthinkable happened?
My sister, it's y'all 22 times.
