It's called Crimeless, a true crime comedy podcast. Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Who would you call if the unthinkable happened? My sister was y'all 22 times.
Starting point is 00:00:39 A police officer, right? But what do you do when the monster is the man in blue? This dude is the devil. He'll hurt you. This is the story of a detective who thought he was above the law until we came together to take him down. I said, you're going to see my face till the day that you die. I got you, I got you, I got you. Listen to the girlfriends, untouchable, on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I got you.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Dr. Laurie Santos from the Happiness Lab here. It's the season of giving, and this year, my podcast, The Happiness Lab, is partnering with Give Directly, a nonprofit that provides people in extreme poverty with the cash they need as part of the Pods Fight Poverty campaign. Our goal this year is to raise one. $1 million, which will bring over 700 families out of extreme poverty. Your donation will put cash directly in the hands of these families in need, and they'll get to decide how to use it, whether that's school transportation, purchasing livestock, or starting a business.
Starting point is 00:01:44 Plus, if you're a first-time donor, your gift will be matched by giving multiplier, which means more money for those in need. Visit givedirectly.org slash happiness lab to learn more and to donate. That's give directly.org slash happiness lab. Hi, I'm Radhi Dvlukaya and I am the host of a really good cry podcast. This week, I am joined by Anna Runkle, also known as the crappy childhood fairy, a creator, teacher, and guide helping people heal from the lasting emotional wounds of unsafe or chaotic childhoods. But talking about trauma isn't always great for people.
Starting point is 00:02:17 It's not always the best thing. About a third of people who are traumatized as kids feel worse when they talk about it. Get very disregulated. Listen to a really good cry on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. cost. I didn't really have an interest of being on air. I kind of was up there to just try and infiltrate the building. From the underground clubs that shaped global music to the pastors and creatives who built the cultural empire. The Atlanta Ears podcast uncovers the stories behind one of the most influential cities in the world. The thing I love about Atlanta is that it's a city
Starting point is 00:02:47 of hustlers, man. Each episode explores a different chapter of Atlanta's rise, featuring conversations with ludicrous, Will Packer, Pastor Jamal Bryant, DJ Drama, and more. The Full series is available to listen to now listen to Atlanta is on the iHeart radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast we ready nigger yeah hey welcome back to one music fest it's your man Carlos Miller and I got them lovely ladies over there from poor minds and we got one of our partners in here with us right now yeah yeah yeah nigga ever in the history of niggas ever this the first nigger that I heard say nigger four times in the roof.
Starting point is 00:03:29 Nigger, nigger, nigger. Nika, nigger, unlocked a portal when he did this shit right here. If you say, nigga, four times, something special happened to you. Man, the heavens in the earth move apart. It's not raging down Henderson. Than that boy,
Starting point is 00:03:41 Trinidad James in here. We made it. We back on the couch. Hey, man. What's up, family? You've been going crazy per usual. Hey, man. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:03:51 And you just did a song on one of my favorite, Herbert Hancock's song. Oh, yes. watermelon man come on man hey man come on now shout out to herbie hancock shout out to his team for even allowing us to clear that sample and you know didn't tax me i've paid but shout out man because they didn't have to do it um i love it i love it i'm so happy that that's in my discography because not many people got to do that sample yeah man one thing about your music when you see the visuals that you put with it it looked like you actually having fun yeah
Starting point is 00:04:26 Not like on camera fun. It looked like it's a one-take shot, you can't fake that shit. So, man, what do you draw your inspiration from? Man, what keep you going after all the ups and downs and turmoil from the industry? I ain't going to lie to you. I mean, I always surprised myself
Starting point is 00:04:42 and remind myself like, oh, damn, nigga, we got more in the tank. Like, when I do something or make a song or put something on, it's just like an inner black feeling of, like, I feel like I'm still doing what I'm supposed to do. do. Yeah. I'm not doing too much. I ain't never fuck nobody over.
Starting point is 00:05:00 And, like, God just aligns it where it's like, my actual job is to live. Right. Everything else is what I do. Yeah. Now, we would be crazy as hell not to ask you. What is the, what's the motivation for the outfit?
Starting point is 00:05:14 Yeah, what's the inspiration for today? I love the grill. Hey, I got one. Damn, twin. Hey, twin. Okay. You mean got whispers on his shit. He do. That's all. Look, I'm a bit of different.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Today, all day I dream about sex. All I do is dream about sex, and they were gold. I said, I got to go gold with this. Come on now. Gold socks, because why not? The gold matches the flag. This is truly that flag, by the way, with the gold stripes. Yes, sir.
Starting point is 00:05:43 The flag matches shoes. These, I got these in London, a brand called KTZ. And I'm a little overweight. So when you put on the tights, they get you good on the head. It's factual. It's like a little snap. You already snatched me up, so I'll be on stage and, you know, I don't want to be twerking on stage because, you know, I got a little ass on the side, little ass on the back.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Tighten it up. Look it tight, make. Tight. I feel you. I love some tights myself. Come on now. And then I was like, hey. You know, shit.
Starting point is 00:06:15 You don't got to see all this. You know who it is? Yeah. This is one of my ladies right here. A little curl. A little curl. Now I want to ask. I want to ask you about.
Starting point is 00:06:24 I want to ask you about. this right because I remember when you drop your first mix tape yes sir don't be sorry as fuck safe safe as fuck every day no what the project was called don't be safe yeah but the acronym was don't be sensitive as fuck every day okay yes sir now look I remember when you posted the shit it was it went viral you was on there responding getting in people like hey man you ain't got to fuck with it ain't dropping for you but did you think that it would become like historical at a point in the Atlanta music oh no no um I dropped my first project so that I could start trapping music.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Right. I was ready to trap it out the trunk. You know what I'm saying? Like, you can go do the research right now and mark my words. You will not find another black man that was not born in America that has ever dropped music like I did and be as successful as it happened for me in the beginning. Never. Everybody else, you just didn't know when they won the man in motherfucking Indiana. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Like, you didn't know about Indiana. Yeah, yeah. You know about the nigger when he popped off. That's true. So when you saw me, nigga, I popped off. I was brand new. Man, how it feel though? When like Bruno Mars hit you up and say, I want to sample this shit?
Starting point is 00:07:39 You get a lot of people who fucking with the shit. Well, honestly, that goes back to your question of like, what keeps the nigger motivated? You got to think about it. If you come from nothing, you don't got no mentor. I didn't grow up with my dad when I needed them to. So I don't have no nigger telling me the right thing. I am the right thing. So I got to wait till another older gentleman or older woman that I respect say something to me that resonates with my reasoning mind.
Starting point is 00:08:03 I think I'm doing the right thing. Just like every other black man in America, black woman in America, if we don't got no goddamn role models or no person like letting us know that this is right or this is wrong, we are just doing. We just do. So that's what I've been doing. And when Jay-Z, Beyonce, Andre 3,000, Bruno, when they pour into me, nigger, I put that in. a special body. Yeah. We sip that like one little sip a year.
Starting point is 00:08:29 That's all I got. You know what I'm saying? Like. But you are like a true creative. Like it's not a lot of people who are truly creative, innovative, and have their own pace, their own flow. How do you feel though when you see people steal from you and don't give you your props? Because a lot of people would be like ask, hey, can I have this?
Starting point is 00:08:49 Can I buy this? But some people don't ask. Right. How does that make you feel? I'll be honest with you. with you. I appreciate it from the standpoint of like in the beginning, like the first five to six years. Yeah. I was like, okay, cool. If they're stealing from me, I must be doing something good. I ain't tripping. Rock out. Because if I go in on it, then it's going to keep people, I won't know
Starting point is 00:09:13 who's stealing. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? It's like if you call them out, then they're like, oh, no, we can't, no, I want you to steal. Yeah. Because when you steal for me, you keep me alive. Yeah. When you do, when I write a song, somebody or somebody steal something with me the real niggas who know what's up going to be like oh that nigga trying to be trinidad yeah and they'll hit me they'll they'll DM me like look at this nigga trying to be you yeah i've been seeing that for every year it's a nigga that want to go trinidad every year some nigger decided to go trinidad every single year and what it feels like it's around Halloween time like now yeah
Starting point is 00:09:45 and you get on and it's every year see the little kids every kids I see a nigga when he was when he was as a kid, show me his outfit, like, you know, it's to be influential. Yeah. As a black man, black woman in America, that is actually one of the hardest things to be appreciated for. Yeah. People will know that you're doing it. People know that you're doing it. People know that you're trying to hold their dick.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Yeah. Yeah. They know. Talks about! You are funny as hell. A nigger still act like you ain't told two million jokes. Bitch, stop playing. Yeah, heck, man.
Starting point is 00:10:19 Are you with y'all? I agree. You crazy. Once gang got me and God got me, we good. Yes. So you came on Poor Minds recently, and then for karaoke, we did your song all the way. So many people love the song. You obviously make a lot of hits.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Do you have another single coming out soon? Yes. Well, right now, the next thing, I'm going to drop Gold Jesus. It's a song called Gold Jesus. Okay. And then I'm going to drop my project. Okay. You love gold.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Do you ever wear a silver? Yeah, I do. Okay. I love gold. I love gold. Yeah. We born. They give us gold. They give us gold when you're born as a baby.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Wow. A little piece of gold to put inside your pamper. Oh, wow. I ain't had no gold in my pamper. Me either. We had Duke. All we had was a little doo-doo. I want to ask you this.
Starting point is 00:11:06 You're an OG snigger head. Yes, sir. From camping out, yes, sir. Waiting in line, two, three days. But now it's like you're on that level. And I follow your IG. Yes, sir. I see you hit Paris and France.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Yes, sir. Go get you some swag, man. Do you feel like? the days of, like, you know, the sneaker culture. Do you feel like it's dying on? What's happened is that as a man, you're a man first. You're a man before you're an artist. You're a woman before you're an artist.
Starting point is 00:11:34 You're a man or a woman before you're a sneaker head. So as you grow as a woman or as a man, you will grow out of things. That thing is not dead. You're just dead to the feeling of loving it. And that's really what it is. It's like, I don't have to love sneakers. I'm already a god right I don't have to love it so for me I'm more focused on like since the pandemic I've made six shoes like my own shoes yeah so and homework homework you know do your
Starting point is 00:12:04 homework and then um next year right now in real time we're working on my actual first sneaker like my own sneaker yeah so as like I said as a human first your job you're obligated to grow when you grow you don't just grow in size. You grow out of spiritual feelings, too. You don't just grow out of clothes. You grow out of liking the same shoes. Likeing the same niggas. Dealing with the same.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Hey, they hit home by now. Hey, Lex, slow it down. Hey, hey, hey, hey. We had to get, we had to one music face. Don't come over here preaching. Oh, but we love a good word, though. Oh, they know. That's why we went viral because we got to.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Hey, no, we was eating them up. We're the viral. They weren't ready for us. All right now. All right. I'm going to wrap this up, but I got to ask you this. Yes, sir. As an artist from Atlanta, not an Atlanta artist.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Yes, who? How important is it to see things like One Music Fest be held in the city? I pray, I pray, and I pray every day that more things like One Fest will come to Atlanta. Atlanta, Georgia on the whole, is beautiful if you don't get so caught up in what everybody's tell you you get caught up in which is strip club and that type of idea we love our ladies of the night we love them we love them to death but Georgia Atlanta is so much a big of an ecosystem so I pray for new festivals to come festivals that's like rolling loud and all the things that brings value I mean we got the World Cup coming like that's a festival so many people that's a festival
Starting point is 00:13:46 Yeah. And so don't be scared to come to Atlanta, baby. We don't bite. Well, folks, there you have to. Love you, love you. We love you out of which. We like family at this point. At this point, and we want to tell you, man,
Starting point is 00:14:01 make sure you keep pushing the envelope. Always. I love that. You an innovator. Thank y'all. Yes. Love, poor minds, 85 style show. You already know Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Trent Day, James. Homework. Yes. Yes, let's do it. Have you ever listened to those true crime shows and found yourself with more questions than answers? Who catfishes a city? Is it even safe to snort human remains?
Starting point is 00:14:27 Is that the plot of Footloose? I'm comedian Rory Scoville, and I'm here to tell you, Josh Dean and I have a new podcast that celebrates the amazing creativity of the world's dumbest criminals. It's called Crimeless, a true crime comedy podcast.
