This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much
that my podcast called Playing Along is back.
I sit down with musicians from all musical styles
to play songs together in an intimate setting.
Every episode's a little different,
but it all involves music and conversation
with some of my favorite musicians.
Over the past two seasons,
I've had special guests like Dave Grohl,
Lave, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolf, Jeff Tweedy,
really too many to name.
And this season, I've sat down with Black Pumas, Alessia Kara, Sarah McLaughlin, and more.
Check out my new episode with John Legend.
I feel like, in a lot of ways, our careers are paralleled in some ways,
but they just never intersected for some reason.
I know.
Listen to Nora Jones is playing along on the I-Heart Radio,
app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Have you ever listened to those true crime shows and found yourself with more questions
than answers?
Who catfishes a city?
Is it even safe to snort human remains?
Is that the plot of Footloose?
I'm comedian Rory Scoville, and I'm here to tell you, Josh Dean and I have a new podcast that
celebrates the amazing creativity of the world's dumbest criminals.
It's called Crimeless, a true crime comedy podcast.
Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I know he has a reputation, but it's going to catch up to him.
Gabe Ortiz is a cop.
His brother Larry, a mystery Gabe didn't want to solve until it was too late.
He was the head of this gang.
You're going to push that line for the cause?
Took us under his wing and showed us the game, as they call it.
When Larry's killed, Gabe must untangle the dangerous past,
one that could destroy everything he thought he knew.
Listen to the Brothers Ortiz on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, everybody, it's Chuck and Josh from the Stuff You Should Know podcast, and it's that time of year again when we knuckle down to do our annual holiday episodes.
We collected our best past classic holiday episodes and compiled them into a 12 days of Christmas toys playlist that the whole family can enjoy.
That's right. Maybe you missed it the first time we detailed the history of Beanie Babies, Monopoly, or Yo-Yo's, and a whole lot more.
So listen to the 12 Days of Christmas Toys playlist on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Who would you call if the unthinkable happened?
My sister was y'all 22 times.
A police officer, right?
But what do you do when the monster is the man in blue?
This dude is the devil. He'll hurt you.
This is the story of a detective who thought he was above the law until we came together to take him down.
I said, you're going to see my face till the day that you die.
Listen to the Girlfriends Untouchable on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Hey, welcome back to One Music Fest, Backwoods backstage, Lex.
Yeah.
What's up?
We're wearing to the legs.
We only talking to the legends all day. This is crazy.
Next, you want to do it?
I'm just over to the leg.
Yay!
Hey!
Oops, that goes my shirt.
You ate that up.
Oh, that goes my side.
The couple of my head.
What's up?
You should have sued the shit out of Twitter.
You should not have?
You should not have.
It was a tweet before they came out with tweet.
Exactly.
And was.
I was going to.
My manager dropped the ball on that.
Hey, you ain't want that.
It's right.
I know. I know.
I know.
How the hell have you been?
I've been good, working a lot, you know.
I've been looking for you since about 99.
Carlos, that's a lot.
No, because you remember, we come from the era of that.
You had to find them in real life.
You know how a nigga's like, bro, who you like?
Who I'm like, tweet?
Yeah.
I've been around.
It wasn't on Instagram DMs, basically.
You had she had to run into it.
If you would have been on Instagram, I promise you, I would have been in the end.
I was living here in 99.
I moved away from here in 2014.
Oh, wow.
I love.
I love.
I had to go get closer to my mom to go down in Florida.
Should have said some.
I should have said some.
I should have said some.
I could at least be one of your favorite exes by now.
And let me give you your flowers.
Because I remember seeing you on 106 in Park when they debuted the video.
I remember because we used to run home.
Yeah, we did.
And just seeing you.
And you were so beautiful.
Thank you.
See, you know, like, women at the same skin tone as us.
And I just remember seeing you like, oh, my God.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
There was an important representation that we needed.
Yes, of course.
You know what I'm saying?
Yep.
Yeah.
Thank you.
And then the pipes was piping, too.
Then you could really sing.
Thank you.
Yeah.
And sound great in person, too.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
How's it been out here at one music fest?
It's been amazing.
I just got off stage with my brother D.
Nice.
So I did the quarantine set with him.
Oh, yeah.
And I have a show at 6 o'clock on the Toyota stage.
So, yeah, it was fun.
I love to see people still react to the song like they ain't heard it before,
but it's their favorite songs.
I'm like, oh, y'all still want to hear it?
Absolutely.
Yeah.
You got hits.
Thank you.
He was over there with the whole Timberland Missy Camping.
Yeah, face.
What was that experience like, getting to work with those people who still got the longevity?
It was amazing because we had met each other in 94.
I auditioned to be in a group DeMonte had.
And I got in that group, and that's when I met Missy, Tim, McGoo, Play-Up, we was all a part of this basement crew.
It was all the basement crew.
And that's how I met them.
And we've been in the studio working since then.
Yeah.
So it's just amazing.
Those are my family.
They're my family.
Yeah.
What you said, man?
And you look so good.
Like, I just, you haven't aged.
Like, you literally look the same.
That is so crazy.
I'm trying not to.
But, you know, that's what they say about black women.
Listen, it don't, what, look.
The black don't crack.
I'm just, you know, staying out of trouble.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Staying on my grind, that's it.
That's it.
Eat good, water, rest.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's it.
Look at Carlos.
He's all, he's like, griny.
Blushy.
He's blushing.
Oh, you're blushing.
My bad.
I'm the lyrics in my head, and they, you know,
what you what I did.
Last night.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Look and look.
Yeah.
Still so high.
Still so hot.
So will we see like another collaboration with you and Missy?
Like, yeah, we got something in the works.
I got a new album coming out.
Oh, wow.
I want another freak song.
You want a freak song?
I want another freak.
But I love how discreet it was.
Yeah.
We didn't know what we were singing.
We didn't.
And I had to lie for a long time about what it really was about.
Yeah.
It was about that.
I have to lie and say that oh, it's about praying the God that you love your body.
Yeah.
A good way to say it, but no, it's about that thing.
You know, we still say that about ourselves.
Yeah.
But a pecan brine?
Yeah.
I mean, and the times were so different back in the day.
Like, I feel like these days, you could just come straight out and say what the song is about.
Back then, it's like people were so a little bit more judgment.
But that was the good other song is that if you know, you know, that'd be graphic.
We can read between the line.
Yeah.
You see how they responded when it got graphic.
Yeah.
Now we got to have the mixture of both.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We got to have the hard and the soap.
We got to have some gravity.
Then we got to have some sneak, you know, some little hard and soft.
Yeah.
I like that.
I like that.
You grow.
Look.
You.
M.
M.
M.
Look at him.
What else, tweet?
Let's go get my new single.
single is out right now it's called toot-toot you got a single called toot too yeah i like that
what that now what i know about being being done in a relationship because the person is taking
advantage of you oh advantage of your time and you're like just you're running away with too much
like you're doing too much yeah i gotta go bye you left i met no i did leave but i might leave a
date for you but we'll see it's like that that's what the song is about when you're leaving
he's he gone he's already gone for about six years then oh don't tell you don't you don't
All right, Carlisle's back.
You bet?
All right.
Y'all ought to be on a date tomorrow.
Okay.
You're saying he's going to pull up in that old school on your ass.
I love it.
I love old school.
I don't want, I don't want nothing to happen.
Thank you.
Yeah, I got to come get you in some safe.
Oh, yeah.
He got to pull up in a bed.
That window's a blessing you behind that tent.
Once they see me out there with tweet, we're all over the internet.
Thanks.
This is going to be on the trade room.
Come on now.
And they don't like, need one of us.
They hate to see you happen.
Yeah.
Oh, those is silly.
Oh, my God, I love it.
I love it.
So, yes, I have to ask you, being here at One Music Fest, hitting the stage, killing it, all of these years later, how does it feel for everybody to still be going crazy?
It's a blessing.
Like, sometimes I have to really pinch myself because I'm just to if it's a dream or not.
But you think out of sight, out of mind.
out of mind people don't want to hear the song but when I hit the stage it's like you know
they want to hear it they want to hear more than just oops though they want to be like smoking
cigarettes beautiful all of that type of stuff girl we know the whole album word for word bar bar for bar
no skip no so you coming out with a project now it's a lot of new people in the game new
army so who is like a new artist that you would be like you know what they make some good music
They can match me in the studio.
Leon Thomas, I absolutely.
Oh, yeah.
That boy, Cole.
We love Leon Thomas.
He's going to pull out that car on your head.
She's good, too.
Yeah, but Leon is doing his thing right now.
He is.
He's killing it.
He's performing today, too.
Yeah, I can't.
I want to see you.
I love it.
Yeah, me.
You want me to go over there with you and make sure you good.
I walk you over there and make sure you get.
Not you're going to secure.
You're going to walk around here by yourself.
You're talking about.
Got to make sure a girl safe.
Yeah.
Make sure you say.
Okay, thank you.
Nobody going to fuck with it.
Thank you.
Now, we would love to get you to come on both our shows and get the extended.
Yeah, I would love to.
I would love that.
That would be nice.
