I knew I wanted to obey and submit,
but I didn't fully grasp
for the rest of my life what that meant.
For My Heart Podcasts and Rococo Punch,
this is The Turning, River Road.
In the woods of Minnesota,
a cult leader married himself to 10 girls
and forced them into a secret life of abuse.
But in 2014, the youngest escaped.

Do you remember Vine? It changed the internet forever, and it vanished in its prime.
I'm Benedict Townsend, and this is Vine, six seconds that changed the world.
The untold story of genius, betrayal, and the app that died so that TikTok could thrive.
From overnight stars to the fall that no one saw coming, we're breaking down what made Vine,
Iconic. Listen to Vine on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
I always had to be so good, no one could ignore me. Carve my path with data and drive.
But some people only see who I am on paper. The paper ceiling. The limitations from degree screens
to stereotypes that are holding back over 70 million stars. Workers skilled through alternative
routes rather than a bachelor's degree. It's time for skills to speak for themselves.

stage and we're sitting here with the
talented Kyes from Dreamville
Records. What's up?
You're talking about me when you said funny
I thought you're funny. I don't know what I'm going to say.
I know you're going to say.
Almost way.
I got a little joke.
All right.
You funny?
He's talking to tell a little joke too.
I mean, I got a little funny bow.
Funny looking.
Huge childish.
Okay, I have to know.
We are on in your stomping grounds right now
because you are a Dreamville artist.
at Dreamville Fest.
How does that feel being an artist signed to Jay Cole
and being at the festival?
It's amazing.
Every year, it's the same thing.
A bunch of love, family, Dreamville family.
I've been with them for the past, like, 10 years.
This shit every year, you feel,
me, this is supposed to be the last one.
I'm seeing the rumors on the Internet
that it ain't going to be the last one.
I don't know what's true or not, you feel me.
You're supposed to have the tea for us.
You just said it.
I'm reminded my business.
I just looked on Twitter.
No, but yeah, no, it's amazing.
It's always love.
It's a good vibe.
ain't no, you know what I'm saying?
It's dope.
Okay.
So how did your journey start?
Like, how did you get around Cole?
Like, how did you get on the label?
Shit, I just dropped the song in like 2014.
I'm from L.A.
And at that time, my boy just had like a plug on the blog.
It's like the blog area and shit, you feel me?
And that shit was kind of going crazy on the blog.
My homie that went to my old manager, Matt McNeil.
He went to school with Cole in college and showed him the song.
And then Cole wanted to meet me and shit.
And then from there was history.
You know what I'm saying?
I played on the rest of the shit I had.
And then, yeah.
He was like, come on.
Fuck it with me.
Fucker with me.
He's going to slide.
Do you feel pressure being signed to J-Col being like he's such a big artist?
He's still dropping music.
Do you feel like you have to live up to that?
Nah.
No?
Not at all.
I think because we like, the way he like, we operate is like family.
So it's like, it don't feel like that.
And like, I'm a natural competitor.
So, like, of course, like I'm like, you know, when I get in there,
I'm trying to take everybody head off of shit from him to get everybody.
So it is what it is.
but I don't feel no pressure.
I wouldn't say it's pressure.
Maybe something else, but I wouldn't say it's pressure, though.
Had there ever been a time in the studio,
and he pulled you to the side, be like,
Lebrough, you went harder than me.
You know what?
He ain't said it, but them records ain't came out, so I assume.
Oh, I assume.
I assume.
He had to rewrite a verse,
to change the bars up.
I assume I had the better verse.
You feel this.
I ain't going to lie.
Oh, he's a lot.
He didn't put that one in the box.
You should wrap it tomorrow.
Look, just lick the bitch.
Just lick it.
Just lick it.
Just lick you.
I might just do it.
I might just do it.
Who knows?
Nah, but, no, I mean,
there's been times where I was so ass too
when niggas just took me off and tell me.
So, you know, it happens.
I understand that.
It'd be like that, you know?
So since we're here at the Dreamville Festival,
and obviously you've been to a lot of them,
could you tell us about what was your most memorable experience?
Damn, you know what?
They ain't really been.
this is probably going to be the most memorable because in the past like four years I used to get lit a lot
I actually my first time being sober I'm like 10 months sober and shit oh my god that's like it yeah yeah yeah yeah I'm like two months sober right now okay we'll clap for sure I don't blame her but now so this probably be the most memorable for sure other times it was a good time though you feel me but I don't know nothing to detail I was slowly like you really get into experience yeah yeah it's like I'm experiencing it for
real, for real this time, and getting to soak it in.
I feel that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But, no, I mean, shit, crowds is always great.
I don't know.
On the spot, I'm, like, bad with that.
No, it's not bad.
It's great.
They take her head to do rehab nothing.
They try to make them go to rehab.
Anyway.
She's going to get her Tito's if she don't do that.
You know, we got to get the Tito's on.
Okay, so let me ask you this.
Being that, you know, you've been signed to Dreamville for a while,
you know, we all know how to carry ourselves.
and meet people who are of higher, you know, celebrity.
Yeah.
But what was a moment where you met somebody and you were like, oh, my God.
Like, I can't believe I'm in the studio with this person.
This is crazy.
And it was like a full circle moment for you.
Shit.
You know.
I'm sorry.
Maybe I think when I first got in with Cole, I think because I was such a big fan of Cole.
So I think that was like the first time.
And I wasn't around no industry shit in my life.
Like, I'm from that world.
So I think that, me meeting Cole and being in the stew with him was like my mind-blowing.
Yeah.
I don't think I felt it like that since then.
Maybe Kendrick.
I was in there with Kendrick one time.
That was another, I'm from L.A., too, so I'm biased with that.
You know what I'm saying?
So I think that was another time where I was like, damn, that's crazy, you feel me?
So it's fair to say you was team Kendrick?
No, no.
I'm team, I'm Dreamville to the core, you feel me?
But I'm team hip-hop.
I love a sport, you feel me?
Like I said, I brought my business very well.
Yeah, yeah, I'm on business very well, you know what I'm saying.
Yeah, yeah.
So, yeah, nah.
Is there anybody, like, you want to work with?
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Who?
They be hearing.
What I just say about that topic of the,
every time somebody asks me, and I'm going to leave, I'm going to leave it.
You always be like that, like, who?
Look, I still spoke, you know, I still spoke.
You know, I still spoke, yeah.
But, yeah, I know I'm going to leave hearing, be like,
damn, I should have said this, but, uh, I don't know.
Shit.
Yeah.
Okay, that's fair.
That's fair.
We're going to walk off and be like, ah, damn, I should have to be like, ah, damn, I shouldn't
say that shit.
I want to work with Knows.
Oh, hell yeah.
So, hell yeah.
I ain't choosy.
Hell yeah.
I'm so.
Okay, so what are your like next goals?
Like, what's you got coming up or what is something that you're working on this year that
you are definitely trying to accomplish and finish?
Oh, man.
I'm trying to, like, for a minute I couldn't drop because
some shit with Interscope or whatever
So I finally got free this year
I'm still with Dreamville clearly
Right
But now I'm looking for a new home
And as far as it's like distro and shit like that
But I got a bunch of projects in a stash
Ready to go
Probably like three four of them things
To be honest with you
So I'm just ready to release
I just drop like three
Just freestyles back to back one a week
So I'm just trying to get my feet back wet
Get the ball back rolling
And get back in this shit for real for real
So yeah
I'm gonna drop them projects
At least two to three this year hopefully
You feel me
And just get the ball back roll
You feel me?
Hell yeah
Can't wait until you go crazy.
Hell yeah, yeah, we're trying.
Can you tell us about maybe an artist that you're working with
or that you worked with on a song coming up that might be coming out?
To be honest, it's a lot of me.
Don't forget, nigga.
I'm already forgetting.
I'm already, I'm already.
Oh, yeah, this is hopped on.
No, I mean, to be honest, the new shit has been a lot of me
and I haven't reached out to them or thought about what features I would want on
them songs in.
So it's just all me and just, because I've been locked in on my,
go with myself and shit and just knocking my part out.
And then I'm going to get to that after.
So I still got to work on that part.
Okay.
I got some of mine, I think.
Okay.
Well, cool.
We'll tell everybody where they can find you at.
Oh, you find me at everywhere, Instagram, fucking TikTok, Twitter,
Kaiz, C-O-Z, C-O-Z, C-O-Z, C-O-Z, C-O-Z, on everything.
You'll find me there.
Or C-O-D-Y-M-A-C-L-L-A-C-L-L-A-C-L-L-A-C-L-L-A-C-L-R.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Of course.
Thanks for having me, for sure.
You did.
All right.
