Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Hello, America's sweetheart Johnny Knoxville here. I want to tell you about my new true crime podcast, Crimeless, Hillbilly Heist, from Smartless Media, campside media, and big money players. It's a wild tale about a gang of high-functioning nitwits who somehow pulled off America's third largest cash heist. Kind of like Robin Hood, except for the part where he's still,
Starting point is 00:00:30 from the rich and gifts to the poor, I'm not that generous. It's a damn near inspiring true story for anyone out there who's ever shot for the moon, then just totally muffed up the landing. They stole $17 million that had not bought a ticket
Starting point is 00:00:46 to help him escape. So we're saying like, oh God, what do we do? What do we do? That was dumb. People do not follow my example. Listen to Crimless, Hillbilly Heist on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Kyle McLaughlin.

Listen to the big take from Bloomberg News every weekday afternoon on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, welcome back. We live here at the 2025 BET Awards Media House. Yeah. We're only talking to legends today.
Starting point is 00:03:01 We're only talking to people who make it moves today. We're talking to movie stars. We're talking to actresses. We're talking to rappers, comedians, singers, pop lockers, pickpockets. Goldfish players. Come on, man. We're talking to the movers, the shakers, heartbreakers, the parking space fillers. And this dog that we got in here with us right.
Starting point is 00:03:26 He a dog. of the real multi-talented singer actor comedian probably I guess a little bit a little bit
Starting point is 00:03:37 little drama in there a little drama hey man none other than Jacob Lattermore hey what's popping man thank you for having me
Starting point is 00:03:45 yeah we need the audience clapping for you that's all love this is all love I appreciate see how quick we find people for you that's love right there man I feel good to be here
Starting point is 00:03:54 man BET Awards 2025 man it's like It's a good time. It's a good time right now. Man, what you've been up to? Get us up. Just drop my album, May 2nd, title JL. Season 7 of the Shire Inn right now.
Starting point is 00:04:07 No, for sure. Renewed for season 8. Damn, don't play with it, man. Man. Good, man. Just working it out. You know, that's big in the TV world. Eight seasons?
Starting point is 00:04:18 They usually say anything past five. Yeah, anything past five is lit. So I'm super grateful. I mean, because, you know, the film industry, like, turned off for a minute. four minute like it was like a whole film strike so but y'all didn't took their franchise to a whole another level yeah i mean shout out to lena man we it's it's a big ensemble cast like it's so many characters and it's like it's a dope way for to bridge the gap between o g actors in the game and then like a lot of these new actors that's just starting out this is the launching path for
Starting point is 00:04:47 their careers you know what i mean you know one of my favorite things about the shaft yeah is watching how far the story can evolve yeah just watching the characters develop you know yeah it's just real and raw like we we don't try to always please people with things like you know what I mean Emmett's going through like some stuff like he's like he's having to take responsibility but sometimes he complain a little bit you know what I mean and the girls be like why he complaining that's his son but it's like that's life that's real life you really stressed out you're not always like okay yeah I got it yeah that my next we was just trying to pitch the shoulder Tyler pair about what the baby dad is be going through yeah
Starting point is 00:05:20 yeah we know about we need our story Tyler got a here bro you know what like even on the show, like you show the sign of like the baby daddy could be cool with the boyfriend. Hey man, it can happen. People need to see that in real life. It can happen. It's called co-parenting. It can't happen. That is called co-parent. It can't happen. It's definitely. No,
Starting point is 00:05:40 definitely can't happen. So I mean, we definitely, we're seeing like a young couple like Emmett and Keisha be forgiven and gracious and like work each other's like things out and you see this young couple like really doing life together. You know, and it's growing up, right? It ain't always
Starting point is 00:05:56 It's pretty, you know what I mean? So it's like, I think it's so dope to see on screen because we're in a generation now where it's like, you do one thing, it's, we're gone. Your first little mistake, we're out of there. We ain't about to, you know what I got so many officers. And nobody's going through nothing, no. You just fuck up one time and it's over with it. Like, we done.
Starting point is 00:06:12 That's fair to music, too, don't you think? Absolutely. Yeah, yeah. I mean, we got to fight for the love, man. We got to fight for unity and family. Like, I think that's- You're bringing the love back. I'm trying to do it, man. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:06:23 R&B, I've always done it. I think it's just the timing of just where I'm met right now. Like, a lot of people don't even know I do music. Yeah. Like, that's, I feel like a new artist right now. That's what I was saying, brads. Like, I was about to ask you, you going and you're shooting this show that's wildly successful. Then you're going to the studio to, like, basically your other job.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Yeah. Yeah. How do you keep the passion going for both and give them both 100%? It's been times where I stayed out of the studio for like a year or six months. You know what I mean? So I've been working on the album since season four. So I recorded a batch of songs that year, then was out of the studio for a few months, live with those records.
Starting point is 00:07:01 I may listen to them in between scenes while we filming. I'm like, oh, this still sound good a year later. Like, you got to keep this one, got to buy this one, got to keep that in the vault. You know what I mean? And that's why I was like, let me take my time with this album. So if I do drop an album, like, it's like, it's timeless. It don't feel, it feel good, no matter what era we in. Do that keep you hungry, though?
Starting point is 00:07:20 Like, even, you know, you're a successful actor, but, like, you still want to prove yourself as a music. So it's like, they're sleeping on me. I got to wake them up. Yeah, because, I mean, you got to think, like, nobody's reached all their territory yet. You know what I mean? It's the world's so big, man. Like, it's countries that I could walk into, they've never seen the shot.
Starting point is 00:07:38 They've never heard of my music. They don't even know who, you know what I mean? So I think it's always good to know, like, hey, there's always more territory to conquer. But also, just also focus on your fans, too, because sometimes you could drive yourself crazy trying to get the whole world involved. But, you know, when you're just trying to create a business and create a brand, you just need your fans. You need a good amount of your fans to be supportive, and you can capitalize on it. Gotcha. Yeah, it can't change too much too fast.
Starting point is 00:08:01 Yeah, that's right. Because you've got to bring them alone. Like, some people like to be a part of the movement. Absolutely. And the growth, then they see the potential and they want to be down with you to see you get to that other side. Yeah, absolutely. Because sometimes, like, when I find a new artist and then I see a show of theirs, I'm like, oh, they fans singing back to them, let me go listen to their album. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:08:19 Because I think that's what's happening with a lot of artists. You know what I mean? So many artists out got their own following. And they had that catalog. That catalog. And it's so much content dropping at once. Now, you know what I'm saying? It's like 80 albums a year from one artist dropping.
Starting point is 00:08:35 You know what I'm saying? So, like, you got to really keep up. They come and they go. You don't even know they out until you hear somebody listening to it. That's right. All right, man. For the 2025 BET Awards, we came up with our own segment. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:08:48 And that segment is called, what the fuck you got on. Okay. And you just tell us what you got on. Oh, man, I got them on some Gucci shoes. man this real real life juji yeah yeah yeah i think i forget what shirt this is i ain't gonna lie i forgot i forgot it's not about the brand yeah yeah you just you just explaining what you're we're just talking so fit it fitted fit his shirt you know good good texture comfortable you know um don't forget the hat it's an n yc hat actually it's a harley davison n yc hat it's nice you know
Starting point is 00:09:15 i mean got the jury on little ice not too much you know real real respectful yeah clean little street but a little just keeping it clean i'm out the way but i'm in the way You know what I mean? In the way, outside. That's it. Let them know where they can follow you and catch up with everything you got to go. And by this album, man.
Starting point is 00:09:32 Tell them. Yes, sir. J.L. I'm out right now. R&B has never left, man. What's the song we need to go to right now? We download that J.L. What's the song we need to list too late?
Starting point is 00:09:42 The fans loving again. The fans loving win-win right now. All my social media at Jacob Lattimore, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram. What else out there? Some other stuff out there. Everything at Jacob Lattimore. So again, that's the song I need to check out.
Starting point is 00:09:56 Shout out to my brother, Woody McLean. He produced it. Oh, that's good. Yeah, yeah, that's all. Yeah, that's all. Hey, 2025 BETT Awards, Jacob Lattermore. We're out of. J.L.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Mike. Johnny Knoxville here. Check out Crimeless, Hillbilly Heist, my new true crime podcast from Smartless Media, campside Media, and Big Money Players.
