welcome back to backwoods backstage you all you know you're rolling here live at dreamville
24 brunay straight from the a we got my dog nap green we sitting in the trap with none of the
miss freaky tea tea and koreen how you doing i'm good how are you all show us a love
yes thank you looking like a cute ass harold yuku barbie exactly you got it she gets it
i love it how you doing today i'm great i just got out stage and i feel so good like i had so much
love on stage like it was it was great i'm excited see the high on you like you like you still
flowed man i'm sorry that how did that like what are you first thinking when you get off stage
after a good a great performance like that and you you're on that high what you're thinking
always asked and turn around like did i do good and everybody's like yes and i'm like
Okay, great.
So it's always just like, when you're up there, you can't see yourself, so you don't know.
But I always just like, I turn around to see the crowd, like, did I do good?
So that's just always my first thing.
Oh, for sure.
They were rocking with you.
Yeah.
How does it feel to be performing this year at Dreamville?
Like, do you like festivals?
Are you excited about that?
Yeah, I was really excited because, you know, last year and the year before that, a lot of people were like, you know, why isn't tea around on the, you know, why isn't you perform a year from North Carolina?
And so this year, I was like, and so I saw my name.
And I was like, yes, finally.
So I was really excited about that.
You know, I'm from North Carolina, and Raleigh has always shown me love even when I first started.
So coming back was great.
Winston-Salem.
So it's like two hours ago.
Yeah, this is homecoming.
Yeah, exactly.
So I'm like, oh, finally I belong.
So I was really excited to be here.
That's good.
You got a lot of people from the crib that pulled up.
Yes, I saw them in the crowd and they were like.
They were throwing a heart.
Yeah, it was so cute.
It was like, dang, that's love.
That's what's up.
Yeah.
How you, so being from North Carolina, like, obviously you got this cool,
ass sway. Like, it's just, it's like
different. Like I say, it's kind of like a little
get-up hair to cool Barbie.
But what do you feel like you got your
style from, or what influences your style?
I think really it's mostly
from my mom just letting me be myself
and allowing me to be around different types of people
and friends and being able to do sleepovers
and let me do cool experience.
Like my friends will ask me to go to the beach
or like go on a cruise. And I think
a lot of my friends at that time, their parents were like,
no. But my mom let me allow
me to do that, allow me to try
any sport I wanted to try and I mean I think that and just cartoons yeah yeah so that's really it
this a true story we um we was in Charleston South Carolina and you know when you first
getting a run of cars like you know you have listed a radio stage till you plug up so your son was
on and I had never heard this I was like who is this and that when Los was like you ain't heard
freaky tea they heard it up man to have a car full of niggas blast in your shit
You know me
Okay, freaky tea
Okay
That's cute
That's cute
I love that
That moors my heart
That's so cute
So like
When I saw you on the lineup
I'm like well we got to sit down with her
I gotta tell you that
Oh thank you so much
I'm gonna cry too
That's what's up
No but you're so fresh in the game
Like you said you already gained a whole bunch of variety
of fans like what's something that's on your checklist like as you navigate through this industry
um i definitely want to get well i work with tyler creator and then i want to do um some stuff
in japan so i can see that yeah doing some voiceovers is on my checklens um give us an example
like what a voiceover like like i don't know like if a cartoon if somebody had like something i
could like do voice oh just do a cartoon i don't use my regular voice i can't think about okay like a little
boy in elementary oh god uh hi hi you know what's funny about that's so hard to do though
you know what's so funny about that people thought i was a little boy a freaky tea they thought
i sound like a boy so i'm like when you first came out yeah it's still people under my comments like
i thought this was a boy this generation so fucked up so you know i'm just gonna use my regular boys
i guess it's neutral who is somebody you uh would uh would like to see at the festival while you here
Because, you know, after you coming outstage, who's somebody you might stick around to see?
Oh, Glock.
That's my boy.
Yeah, Kie Glock.
His fans are crazy.
That's my boy.
Okay, that's what's up.
Key Glock.
He always does a good show.
Yeah.
Are there any people in the industry that you want to, like, collab with or work with in the future?
Yeah, so I already, I said, you know, Tyler the Creator already.
Farrell, Siza.
Love, Cizzo.
Oh, that would be dope.
Yeah.
Yeah, and then it's this artist called Joji.
He's really fine.
I can go.
I got a list, girl.
I'm ready.
Like, y'all will help me.
I can pull out the list.
Who are you listening to right now?
I listen to a lot of Pierre Bourne.
A lot.
I've been listening to a lot of Ken Carson lately and Destroy Lonely.
I really like them.
Their music actually grew on me because at first I was like, you know, but I'd be in the car.
I listen to it every day.
And Shadee, I listen to Shade every day.
Okay, yeah.
Take it back.
That's what's up.
that's what I'm
Paradise
that's my song
right there
Yeah
Like you're so cool
Like you know
How to explain it
Like you got that
Southern like
Hospitality to you
Like when you're talking
Stuff like that
So it's like
You feel like you're talking
To your cousin
I was about to say your cousin
Yeah
Your cousin
Who'd have made it
Like your cousin
Who'd have made it
Exactly
Exactly
Really
relatable
That's what's up
Yeah
What's on the agenda
To eat today
I don't know I haven't eating anything
When I'm nervous I can't eat
For real? Yeah I can't eat nothing
All I have is a Celsius
It don't matter how nervous I ain't I'm gonna eat
It's like my stomach I just can't chew
It's your nerves
Yeah
Well are you just like running off adrenaline
Like you don't even feel hungry
Yeah nah
Because you killed your performance
So like after what you still don't even
It's gonna take me about an hour or two
And I'm gonna be like I'm hungry
Yeah like you still on the hide on like
How did the team feel about it when they find out you
Like on Dream Real
Oh my God
They were so excited for me.
Yeah.
Oh, my gosh.
Because that's a hot, like, I know there's got to be like a notch off the checklist.
Yeah, it was definitely on there.
So I'm like, yes, I did it.
Because everybody, like, you know, some festivals you have some hitter, miss type shit.
This whole festival, like, some hitters.
No, this is legit.
Yeah, they ain't got no feelings.
Huh?
Did you hear yesterday?
Oh, okay, yeah, it was some good performances.
Yeah, yesterday was cool.
I was watching the stuff on the Lowe and I was like, okay.
Like, I wish I would have been able to see sexy and Lil Yadi.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Sexy Killed it.
We saw sexy.
always kill her shit like I said sexy for president
I definitely want to do a song
with her I had started something for her
so we're gonna see
I'm gonna see that I mean I started writing something for her
yeah she'll fuck with you
yeah let's let's let's try to get
put it with me put that in the universe
like for real for real
you drinking uh actually I don't drink any more
but I'm smoking so we're okay
shout out the backwood
yeah we're rolling
okay so if you had to pick a variety
of backwoods which one would you pick to roll up
Oh, y'all gonna hate me.
I don't smoke backwards.
It's too harsh.
You know, I have vocal, um, core surgery.
Oh.
So I can't even, it's just, I just have to do papers.
It's too harsh.
Okay.
Yeah.
So.
I ain't gonna hate you for that because then you couldn't have made my song.
Make the song.
Right, yeah.
Hey, y'all want music or not?
No, real.
For sure.
Well, sure.
So look, you being from North Carolina, you keep up with the sports?
No, not really.
ain't gonna lie to you i was about to lie to but no no don't do that what are your hobbies though
like what do you like to do when you're not making music oh i'm i like to go outside so i'm
an outside person i like to go hiking i have bikes i like to do sales oh you when you say outside
you mean outside for real like outside yeah like i go hike i thought you're like hanging in the
club like shit you're talking yeah yeah i'm talking oh shit you're right um you thought she meant
like city girl yeah you like we outside like that you're outside yeah i'm touching
And grass.
Yeah.
Or I have Legos.
I put together Legos sometimes.
Oh, you like Legos?
Yeah.
Man, you smart and shit?
Yeah.
You do forintry, spoken word, all that?
I don't do all that.
But I like to listen to it.
But I like, you know, I watch anime.
I put my Legos together.
I like to order stuff from my...
You be nurturing your inner child.
Yeah, I do.
I go plant shopping.
I do like to be fun stuff.
I like plants.
I go plant shopping too.
I like, I have a few of them.
What's your favorite plant?
I personally love a peace lily because I feel like it's my favorite one to give people.
It lasts.
I feel like you can't really kill a piece lily.
Yeah, because I'm killing them.
But you can bring it back to life.
Like all they always need just a little bit of nurturing and you can bring it back.
But see, I feel like I try to and it's like I just overdo it.
Like it's too much water or something.
Yeah.
You ain't giving it that sunlight.
I'm working on it though.
What's your favorite plant?
I love orchid.
That's a pink flower.
But this plant.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I always kill orchid.
They never.
I don't think.
we just meant to have those they're seasonal they just yeah we're not supposed to
have them in the house I don't think so yeah but yeah this we over here getting into
yeah I see all yeah I yeah it's in nature yeah I love plants what's your favorite
plant oh tulips okay two lips two lips two lips two lips two lips you a nasty
freaky teeth oh my god dad that's real talk and I'm like yeah tulips you dirty dog
I feel you, though.
No, I like roses, though.
Whatever, whatever, like, be, like, price-related.
Price-related?
We talk about some cheap plants here.
Oh, them cheap?
Yeah, like, you could get a piece-illy.
Yeah, you could get a piece-illy from a grocery store for, like, $8.
Mm-hmm.
But it's the way y'all was talking about it.
I don't like that.
Me.
What?
Like, y'all were making, like, I don't know.
Like, you don't want to kill them and stuff like that.
Yeah, because, I mean, plants can be easy care if you don't know what you're doing.
You know what you're doing.
Like, orchids, like, you can overwater them.
Like, you have to put, like, three ice cubes in there
and, like, not too much stuff in the chest.
So, like, it's a whole dog or something, basically.
I like keep this stuff alive.
It's a human.
No, you're supposed to.
That's not, like, about plants.
It's my goal.
Yeah.
But I kill my bamboo, and you can rarely kill bamboo,
but I was gone, and I forgot to tell my mom to.
Yeah.
Check on her and stuff like that.
That's okay.
We got money now.
We get mo.
Pop your shit.
House full of orchids.
Right, yeah.
No, that's all.
Since you've been in the game, like, who's been somebody you've been excited to see or excited to meet or, like, surprised to me?
You know, it was surprising to meet Ari Lennox.
She came to my show in L.A.
And it was like, yeah, it was like, she's back then.
I was like, what?
She came to my show.
She's here.
Did y'all having some interaction before that?
No, no.
So that was the first?
Yeah.
And I was like, damn.
Yeah.
I was like, girl, makes my way.
We ain't called home.
Yeah, I was really excited because she's like, Arienix.
Yeah, but you don't too, though.
There's like some people see the art in this.
Yeah, she just gave me my flowers and she was like, yo, like, you are a star.
Like, you are so amazing.
And so we've been talking and stuff and I was just like.
Some music coming?
Maybe.
I think, I thought I think we can hang out.
Like, I always feel like hanging out is better because you can get a better vibe.
Yeah, like, let's get to know each other.
And like, let's just do fun stuff.
So we talked about getting up.
So, yeah.
I think you got some good tasting stuff.
I'm excited to see where things.
go. Thank you. Well, have you had a moment yet in your career where you were like, wow, I can't
believe I'm here right now. Like, and it was confirming like, yeah. What was that moment?
Um, I think, I think, like when I did Coachella, La Lotto brought me out and I was like,
oh shit. Like, I'm at this bitch. Yeah. I was like, oh shit. Like, I was like, damn, I'm really
back here. Like, I mean.
You know, I'm here on stage.
So when I came out, I was like, oh, shit.
Like, damn, I'm really here.
Like, I mean, I was on tour with Glock.
Like, it was just, what?
Yeah, I'm like, me from little Winston-Salem.
And see, and I think that's what, like.
Oh, I'm sorry to cut you out.
But I remember them telling me that same year that Coachella wasn't going to be able to happen.
They're like, oh, you know, it's too soon.
And you just, it's like, maybe next year.
And then literally, she hit me up and was like, I wanted to bring you out.
And I told y'all bitches, I do what I want.
That's what I was just wouldn't say like you even saying like being from Winston
Salem like that somebody hearing that it don't matter where you're from like there's no
excuse like you know how people would be like no they'm not from Charlotte or no I'm not from
this place or I'm not in a big city yeah that's why I did this this is why I stay here I didn't
move I still live there you know I want people to know like you can do whatever you want
to do where you're from such you from Winston a lot of people say you're not going to be
able to make it from here and I said watch this and I did and I still live here what's up
yeah and it's just the beginning
anybody all y'all can
like a lot of people were like
you know they gave up on their stuff
because I'm from Winston
and I'm not going to get noticed
but them seeing me do it
it's like they're picking it back up
like yeah I can't
and you're still in the grocery stores
and shit
I was just there the other day
and you're talking about
yeah
me and my daughter we'd be lit
like
oh what's your daughter name
Zoe
Zoe
Zoe
yeah what's up
and she'll let you know
it's like my mom
is Tia Corinne
she's star
yeah for sure
yeah
well I'm excited to see
how far you go
I feel like you got
a bright future here and you're going to accomplish so many things you know you got our support to
tell them what you got anything coming up next you want to um i think we're probably going to have
some shows coming up you know here and there but i'm really getting into my album bag right now
and i think i'll um i have a video drop in soon to one of my songs on my EP um so yeah we
probably gonna have some new music next month for sure all right let them know where they can follow
you so they can stay updated on everything you can follow me on all social medias under tia korent
O-R-I-N-E.
Clap it up for a man.
Show us for love, man.
We appreciate to stop.
Thank you.
No, thank you so much to have me.
Nice to have me.
Nice meeting you.
