Listen to Family Secrets Season 12 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, man, welcome back to the 85 South Show. We are live here at the 24 BET Awards, BET Experience. And now, you know some people. You know some people that's worth a couple hundred. You might know some people worth a couple thousand.
Starting point is 00:02:53 But the people I know worth worth a community. And that's exactly who we get. got to hear with us, Ms. Camilla. How are you doing? How are you doing? Man, I'm doing great. First of all, big salute to being on a dope-ass show with my homie. I had a rap shit. Thank you. Yeah. Man, tell us about it before we even get into any of this, man. I just haven't got the chance to kick it, catch up with none of y'all. So just run it down for me. How was it? Building and creating that. Rap, rap shit is the greatest show to work on. I think my experience.
Starting point is 00:03:27 to like TV and film, I got spoiled because the way Issa just took care of us, just being on a set with like women, like writing, creating, acting, like it was just a lot of black people, black people in. I love it. And I mean, I had a great time. I learned a lot, you know, and I'm bit by the bug. Like, that's all I want to do, you know. Of course, I'm, you know, I do music as well, but like acting is something that I'm very. very passionate about and the longevity in it is just way different you know yeah what was it like to jump into you into your acting bag from from your music bag to your acting bag back to your
Starting point is 00:04:08 music bag what was that transition like for you well as a kid I was always playing like make believe and you know talking to myself right you know I'm a little crazy I'm a little that's one of the things that we lose is you know when you get older that's one thing we got to keep our imagination yeah um so I mean it really just allowed me to really be myself And then coming on as like a leading lady, you know, you got people there like anything you want. Like, I think I gained weight on set because I was like, oh, man, like they got bacon, they got oatmeal, they got donuts. It's different when you can send somebody to your favorite restaurant every day, right? And I can eat fish, chicken, and all the different.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Listen, I had a great time. Absolutely. But, yeah, I also learned a lot. And, you know, I learned that I definitely want to write projects and give other people opportunities. because when I got rap shit I didn't have no type of representation people like well how do you got in the room God that's what it is
Starting point is 00:05:04 manifestation yeah manifestation you know so now I'm represented by UTA and a lady named Doreen Wilcox but like I want to get people that are like me like opportunities absolutely now look BET Awards
Starting point is 00:05:20 24 yeah are you looking forward to seeing anybody have you ran into wanting any of your favorites like what's it what's it been like for you what's you've been in your experience I'm looking forward to seeing Glorilla okay like yeah Glowp I think everybody love Glorilla you gotta love Gloria like even this our second day here like some kind of way she always come up she come up sexy red come up and Billy Isle that is been I love Billy Isle everybody does Billy Isish is that girl for sure and she had she had the cookouts
Starting point is 00:05:55 You would pull up with her Bumping some rap shit Yeah Now but you were saying Now you're going back to the music bag Now I'm going back to the music I'm back outside I got a song that I'm about to drop
Starting point is 00:06:08 I tested it on Instagram And it like went crazy Right So that's the record that I'm about to drop And I feel like I'm back outside Just because honestly When I started doing TV and film I saw no need to do music anymore
Starting point is 00:06:21 You know because a lot of artists Like when you look at Will Smith and J-Lo But let's exclude J-Lo But most people who were And I'm gonna tell you why to me I know why Most people Most people who do like
Starting point is 00:06:33 Who jump into film They don't go back to music no more And somebody A little birdie was like Maybe you should just stop doing music And I was like Maybe you're right And like a fool
Starting point is 00:06:43 I stopped doing music Don't ever do that again Listen man I'm like so now It's kind of like I'm a new artist again I'm getting back out there But it's like
Starting point is 00:06:52 I got something to say Because usually I used to live in the studio now I'll be like I don't feel like going to the studio but if I got something to say I'll be in there yeah so like it's kind of like working out you just got to do it yeah and then now I don't feel like I got to be bleaching in there and just staying in there I feel like I've I'm I have some type of success for myself right I'm saying when I walk in rooms it's a little different so all I not got to do now is just make hits you know so I'm back outside I ain't mad at it at all what's your social media and where can they catch up with all the things you got
Starting point is 00:07:24 going on the things um it's it's chameleon i ts k a million and um i'm on youtube everything is the same across the board makes you go to my website get some merch i just dropped the new clothing line called maco's mad again okay okay um i wish i would have brought me some merch i got to get you some merch i was just about please the merch is raw and and i i i went with that concept because you know success really pisses people off you know do something great put some more points on the board continue to piss these hose off you know and holes could be men too so you know we got the
Starting point is 00:07:59 the merch just dropped and yeah so you're here for the whole BET experience I'm here for the whole BET experience now look now we can't let her leave without asking who you looking forward to working with 2024 and forward
Starting point is 00:08:13 okay 2024 I'm looking forward to working with Friday I actually just seen Friday down there yeah he's managed by one of my home boys and I'm looking forward to working with Glorilla. Okay. I'm going to keep saying Gorilla.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Listen, when she, and this ain't no like, I ain't no dick rider. Like, I don't ride a hotel. Like, if I fuck with you, I fuck with you. But when her video went viral, when they first posted it,
Starting point is 00:08:34 my homeboy, he has a blog. And he was like one of the first people to post it. And I commented, I say, I like this. And sometimes you can't pick your own hits, but you know how you could just pick other people.
Starting point is 00:08:43 I knew that shit was going to happen for her like that. So to see grassroots and to see how, like, just with the power of the internet. And what God can do, man. Like, when people, overlook you man like you become overbook so like i just i just love that about her you know so and you tell you ain't you got a like a genuine spirit like you know man you got to keep god listen
Starting point is 00:09:05 i'm a like i'm a real nigger for real so in hollywood like fake stuff for me people be like you know you got to be fake just and it's hard to you to do that it's so uncomfortable so for i don't know but no but for real like people actually really have to do that so for me to like stay grounded and protect it you got to be spiritually connected to the father so i always give him you know his credits when it's worked for me blue i was like lord if you make this song go viral i always talk about you and tell people where my blessings came from so i i got to make good on it you do so look man your energy is so common and peaceful man oh thank you it's just so dope to just just be around that man and we can literally sit here and do this all day yeah but we got to get you on the real
Starting point is 00:09:48 show when you come back to i would love to anything you want to leave them with anything I want to leave y'all with man man get your money man get your money man if that don't motivate
Starting point is 00:10:02 your loss ain't know with what get your money 85 South BET Awards 24 chameleon shift leader Carlos we're out of here
