So that's why they can't fly no faster because if fuel was still at the same price that it was back then, then planes would go. I'm going to be a pilot, too. It'll probably take you, it could take you five hours, four and a half, five hours to get from New York to London. the eight and a half nine. Damn, good. I'm gonna be a pilot. It's highlight the city, you know what I'm saying? It's not just limited to the city. We got people from other cities too.

Fact. It's a dope-ass comedy scene in the letter that I don't think gets the respect and the claim that other big cities get. Right? You know what I'm saying? And so anytime we can put that light on that, we got to. You got to come through if you're going to do some candy.

You got them to come through ATM. Right. We just tough crowd. We just stuff crap here. It don't matter. It don't matter who you're doing the show for, you're doing a show for the black folks, you're doing a show for white folks,

and doing show for Hispanic people, and doing shit for old folks, doing shit for young folks, all the crowd's gonna be making me laugh. You gotta prove it, and yeah. So that's necessary, because like you said, it's looked at as the trenches in regards to comedy, but it builds you to where you can go into any room

and thrive, you know what I'm saying? And you know, and y'all too specifically coming from out of that, that, that gauge of knowing how that shit go. Like, I know I had to be nostalgic for y'all to be, to be back at that tape off your shoulder low. To be back in that, and it felt like the trenches for y'all, but it's odd shit, though.

So it ain't like, it's the first time that it's hot. You know what we, that's what we were going for. We were trying to get that, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, because we used to go to that room, way back, we didn't see. When it was on Rob, we were a road. Right, even before that, when they moved, before they moved it to birth down.

We used to me and jazz were across the street. When y'all's back? Like, fucking around, running my pops out there. But they always had a little show back there, right? They always had a little show. But they were, it was just one of them little rooms. Bring one of the boss. Oh, that spot used to be, yeah, everything different.

Yeah. The punchline was on Rosal Road, but that spot was comedy gold, Jerry Farber, side door. The one dude that tried to make you bring people and not pay you no money. That's how I started. The bring the shows. Yeah.

Bring a show. That's high stuff. Where does bring a show? So you, it costs $25 to get on stage. But if you bring five people to watch you perform, then you don't have to pay. So that's you brought a show. So you bought, that's why they call it bring a show.

Bring five people, then you don't have to pay to get on stage. But I can never get five people to come, so I always had to pay $25. That's why I was crazy when we went back to Greensboro and sold all them tickets. And they were like, well, I've been fucking with you. No, you haven't. No, you have not.

My nigga, I couldn't get you to come when the fucking ticket was five dollars And now you want a hundred fifty motherfuckers for free. Right. I think this is crazy, bro. This is crazy. All the way. So he would give you a portion of all the tickets you brought out.

So you break five people, they pay $20 or whatever, he'll give you 10%. Right. I said, that's stupid. I could just get them five people to give me $20 because they love the world. Right. They ain't no care. Yeah. You need $1.

You can just keep the $100. Yeah. Yeah. And I can't talk to them for about an hour each and get all these jokes. That nigga will go get you 10% of $100? Yeah. Then they were you $10, bro. But you're bringing the people.

I'm gonna give you $10. Hey, man, they're gonna get you $10. Nick. You're amazing. You're like you. You're right. You're like, you. Hey, man, bring this $20 for me, bro.

because it wasn't just a comedy club. This is back in the day when motherfuckers used to, you know how motherfuckers go to clubs and lounges and shit. When I go to a club or a lounge, I'm like, let me talk to the manager or the owner. Hey, we need a comedy night in here. Because every one of them clubs don't have, they got a night, they don't make no money.

They got an off night. What's your off night? Give me Wednesday. I'll take that over. Thursday. What's your budget? We ain't got no budget. Let's build it up.

If I build it up, I ain't gonna have no budget when it's built up. Because it's gonna be mine. Yeah. All right, bet. You're gonna get the food, I'm gonna get the dough there. Then you gotta give me some of that food money because now I got your kitchen booking.

Now we gotta come through with the grill thing. And we got to do this, you know we got to do this shit at least six weeks, because I don't give a fucking where you got a comedy room, man, it's gonna take six weeks to get the motherfucker for it. Right, to get it right. Remember where that shit started? Remember when we just showed up the schools?

Yeah. And we started hosting. It's like the first year doing comedy. It was the only people that showed up for the show. Yeah, because I hosted that shit. We were taking the show over. Two different times. Just because...

It was so rowdy. Could nobody host this shit? Right, right, right. Right. That was your first room? Would you say that? What was your first room in the city? That was yours?

I don't remember. What? Was it sugar? No, that squawes were before that. But we didn't stay there long, because that shit was just chaos. Y'all were like the bad boys of the country. I can't ride for real. Everybody lying around.

You got that's going to run around. Nobody going to admit this shit. But he was right there. Like, when we came on the scene, we're the motherfuckers who got everybody in the scene. got everybody in the city to fuck with each other. Because these people didn't do this room. Everybody was just doing this two or three room.

When we went to everybody's shit, everybody else started going to everybody. Everybody started going. Bro, we had air, like, it was this white people night, Monday night at Stubbaugh. Shout out to Stubber. Me and this nigg is to be the only niggins down there. Only more.

It was one, rest of peace, Egypt. Other dude that would be down there. Big Drew. Big Drew. Yeah, but that was it. that we're going to do that. And it was just a Monday night that had people standing room on the cheap drinks.

You can still smoke in that bitch. Yeah. Damn. So how does it feel now to get to the point where you got not just this platform, but something that, you know, that's the element of where you started, that comedy, to have your own shit that's yours.

You know what I'm saying? When you walk in the room, you ain't got to worry about nobody putting you up, because you put them motherfuckers up. It's just back to it. It's back to it. Because come from the host That whole wait, that whole not getting up shit didn't last no time.

Yeah. Because even the night's, even the . That wasn't going to be an option, right. We created a demand early. It went from, can we get up to, hey, y'all going up. Then it go from y'all going up to the motherfuckers who hosts the room like, hey man, y'all want to do a little something? Come to do my room.

And then it come from, hey man, I got a few dollars for you if you want to just, you know, go up there, Fuck. Hey, since y'all in here, man, if you, at least say something, because they see ya. It didn't last long. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Right.

So y'all made y'all wave quick. Because you gotta keep the mind. It was a whole little gap. Atlanta comedy was fucked up. It was a fucked up place. There wasn't no comedy clubs for real. Uptown was not back yet. The old Uptown had fucking gone.

The one is on Mayor Street. The one before that? Right. Because that one, we were giving that bitch open. They didn't have no liquor license because they used to be a club. Yeah, we performed in that bitch about two weeks straight. Right, right, right, right. The first couple weeks that they opened when we were down every nigga.

The sugar slushes. Your milkshakes. You'd be on stage, you don't hit them but blenders going up. Damn. They had no liquor lights. Frozen drinks. So these motherfuckers specialized in frosty treats. He's going stupid.

You know what they're having to do comedy and they're drinking a milkshake, lactose to the motherfucker. They had about five blenders there to go off all of the same. at the same time, so. So there was a wave of comedians, maybe about three years or four before we started. That was like the last real wave, and then we got- We got some piece of it, right?

yeah, but once they seen, every time I went up what I was doing, they just stopped charging me to go up. And then after they stopped charging me to go up, probably like two months after that, the owner of the club was at one of the open mic nights. He just stayed usually, because he got a place across the street

called Arizona Peace, which was like, you come to the comedy zone, you come to the comedy zone and you get a free ticket to getting the Arizona piece. Like, so he would be an Arizona piece. He didn't really give a fuck about the open mic. So one night he happened to be over there

and he seen me go up. And after he seen me go up, he was like, man, you ever hosted before? And I was like, yeah. But I had, yeah, that's what you're supposed to do. Yeah, I was like, hell yeah. I host all the time, bro. I mean, hosted like a boss, man.

So I'd be hosted for me. I was a weeker. What they go, me? That's all I do is hosting. I'm the host. Me, I'm the hosting. So he was like, I'm going to try you out because the dude who was like the local celebrity in the comedy game, Chris Wiles, was starting to do shows outside of the city. So he was like, I'm going to try you out this Friday, come up and host a show.

And I remember the headliner was Tom Simmons. And I went up and I did the host of the show. And they, mind you, this is a, I'm talking about all white room, bro. Like, redneck white people, bro. And he was like, and I'm thinking that it was going to be like the open mic night. I got in there and seeing them truck of hats and that flannel, bro. I was like, oh, shit. So I went up, and I remember the first thing I said was like, who liked NASCAR?

Everybody was like, ooh, I was like, fuck NASCAR. It was like, wait a minute. I was like, I'm just playing because they don't let no niggins do it. And that was my first thing. And after that, I was hosting. I started hosting the Friday and Saturday. That's how I kicked off for me. So I started on stage in front of some people

that didn't look nothing like me every weekend, bro. All the way. Every weekend, my nigga. Man, I should have to do something. That's how the star bar was for us. People would go up and they would have some jump how we would go be. Well, that's how a lot of the white rooms was here.

Because they thought everybody was fun, you know. But, hey, they're on their ass. Why? Yeah, ho-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. She put that motherfucker in the microwave. Oh, what? That'd be one-potted there. Oh, what?

I think I didn't bit the fire. That's that hot-h-h-ha. You know, microwave. You know, microwave be hot for a cinema. Exactly, name. Bob move that shit around, like, toy and say, they're going to look back. Look at that shit.

First show I got a hundred. Yeah, first show I got a hundred dollars for was that Cousie's Biker Bar and fucking Mayberry, nigga, North Carolina, this shit was crazy.

I'm talking Mount Airy, brother, real Mayberry. Motherfuck gave it was a hundred dollars. Most racist shit I ever did in my career to this point. But I took to hunt it. It was about, at least. At least a bit, four, five hundred people in that bitch. We went out to that spot. Yeah, a big-ass barn.

Rest my ring in the middle. That's a good-ass ball in the floor. Who with the headline? The second level, uh, Zoo. Zoom, man, you opened up a four, uh, for Zuma. We both did. Yeah. It was a show like four, five people.

With that five. Thank you, I got it. It was a real show. It was me, him, Nesto. Zoo? It was a run. I mean, it wasn't a run, but it was just a road. Like it was once a month or something, right?

Mm-hmm. Go to that bitch, eat them good ass wings, let that man pay that money. Go and drive back to the house? Mm-hmm. Yeah, we're cheating. For real. $15,000, it's all in after two hours.
