This is an I-Heart podcast.
I knew I wanted to obey and submit, but I didn't fully grasp for the rest of my life what that meant.
For My Heart Podcasts and Rococo Punch, this is The Turning, River Road.
In the woods of Minnesota, a cult leader married himself to 10 girls and forced them into a secret life of abuse.
But in 2014, the youngest escaped.

Take the kids to camp.

I was definitely saying, bro, we just go to crime.
We had a whole crazy church league.
You got to leave.
Yeah, yeah, you know you got to go ahead and play.
Yeah, all right, you gotta go ahead and play.
I'll be here, Sunday.
They used to make us recite a Bible script before we play.
Yo, stop playing.
Look, God.
Are you from here?
I'm on the West Side.
All right.
Yes, West Side Atlanta.
My Lady King.
Gotcha.
NL K.
No, he passed in 2013, no.
No, he passed in 2013, but he was a pastor.
All right.
All right.
Yeah, man.
I grew up in the church.
I got you.
All day.
Where it up?
I'm bringing my blood on here.
He's ain't going to play drum.
We ready.
I'm going to buy my drunk sit.
I'm going to get a friend.
I'm going to do it before and now.
I'm going to let him come in with his clothes and then we're going to go get some more clothes.
We're going to put him in some 85 South man.
We should have kept them eight in ones.
They're wrong here to bring that man here.
Oh, we should have kept them and one.
Hey, look at.
We've got to go get up a new glove.
Hell good, fuck.
They're part of the intervention.
Todd, give me one.
What you're gonna hear?
Pre-show.
Pre-show mix.
What you want to hear?
Don't you on the show.
Don't me one.
Really just put them in real.
Don't do that.
That shit likes, is it right.
Oh, who I want, what I want to hear?
Where are you going?
I've been trying to find one.
It can get higher and higher.
Oh.
Boy, y'all going to have me riding home texting random motherfuckers tonight.
That's a goddamn vibe right there.
What's there right there?
Oh, ooh.
I'm in your brain.
Brown sugar.
Let's do a...
What?
That brown sugar, why I'll be in that like this.
This is so, I love it.
Being there with a little white woman, huh.
No, hell no.
This ain't for you.
It's not for you.
Hell no.
I'm loving your brownship.
It's not for you.
Oh, God.
What I want, bro.
It's popping off of this.
Brown sugar.
You got you called.
How, man.
What's your feeling?
You know, Diagelo sound like he, he sing like he playing the guitar.
He didn't play the guitar.
And this song about smoking a blunt.
Yo, it's about smoking weed.
Yeah.
It's it?
Brown sugar.
Even got a big sister by the name of chocolate tag.
Brown sugar, babe.
They're pretty little bit.
They persisted when I hit it,
make the minute.
I don't think y'all are with you.
Okay, okay.
Let me tell you about this girl.
Maybe I shouldn't.
I met her in Philly.
A feeling.
Wow, that.
Okay.
constantly, it's why my eyes are a shade, blood burning me.
Uh-huh.
We ain't gonna make you no money off the episode, y'all.
No, this is a pre-show.
No, this is a pre-show.
Oh, okay.
I'm about to say, because that's a minute a half.
They're gonna be in friends, man.
Yeah.
I hate all that stuff.
I'm tired.
Good, great.
We get your money.
We did your money?
Yeah.
Really, we're celebrating.
No care.
Right.
Right.
Fair you, Zach.
Y'all don't play it on the radio.
No.
I wish she could be a way.
They can still get the screams like how they would normally get,
but it doesn't, it doesn't affect your screen.
We need a radio station.
You see what I'm saying?
Like we played, you still get screams.
Technically, it's still a scream.
Right now you should be getting played,
getting money instead of you saying, take that down.
It's going away from the views.
So our views should accumulate to some screaming.
Literally.
I feel where you make too much sense.
You know what I ain't in front of do, no shit.
They're like someone.
The money flow would be like that, though.
Yeah, YouTube, you know, if it's, you can't play nobody's stuff.
They ain't yours.
If it ain't registered yet.
They're fine.
Yeah.
If you're registered, they come to get.
Hey.
That's like YouTube, but some people who got your songs behind on their video,
they're not going to get paid for it.
But who's going to say that YouTube giving you all the money?
They just give you what?
They're giving you.
Here you go.
Penis.
How much I'm getting you?
That's what you made.
How much I'm getting a per screen?
What you say that electric piano call?
Pender Rhodes.
We put you up on this.
On the dog.
My dad was a fan of the musician.
A word of finning.
Get to a dollar.
And kill me.
You play the organ, too?
Yeah.
You play the organ?
Yeah.
Oh, I saw that little or that road.
Yeah, that one.
That ain't nice shit, but.
I heard about you on the keys.
I saw some, but I'll wait till we really start to bring it.
Yeah, that's a bullshit.
All right, let's do it.
Yeah, what that is.
Prepare the pimpy, please.
E.
Ooh, that's the golden mic.
Yeah, that's the golden mic.
Okay.
Brush it out, man.
Ooh.
Too much.
Oh.
That's a hot mic.
That's a hot mic.
Come it down,
the way down.
The vocal.
Come me down.
Yes, sir.
Yes, sir.
Oh, this you, my bad, gentlemen.
I'm sorry.
I had to control over here.
Yeah, I can't control him all the way down.
Because you're going to sit on.
Come down just on another bit.
Yes, sir.
Because when I ain't talking over, the speaker.
Yeah.
Just smooth.
Yeah, that's smooth.
We've got a tie driven in the house.
Yeah!
Yeah!
Who we got, D.C.
We got tight driven in a house hole!
I got to bring in, I got to walk you in to the trap.
I got to walk with my wife, Tidtribbing.
Yeah, yeah.
Lickland to the tribe.
Who we got?
Tye tripping the glades in a trap.
Gotta break in time.
They say if you can't take a joke on no.
Tad triple a gland.
No, not in all those two.
Not all of them.
Tad triple a glance.
Tad triple a glance.
Tad triple a leg.
Who are you get?
Tertribilla Glenn
Tertrievee Lugland
Tertrievee
Lougham
You know
Hey man
Oh there you have it folks
I love
I love it
I play a partner
I had third cousin
on our father's side
everybody cousin
Tert Triblet is in
Yeah
Thank God
What up?
Yeah
Yeah
You got
Can I say there's all jokes aside, you are an amazing performance.
Exactly.
Thank you.
Thank you.
That takes a lot.
That takes a lot.
That takes a lot.
And then not only do you, you do gospel, but it's ministry.
Yeah.
You feel me?
And to actually, like, really be engaged in it and giving the world to the people, man.
You know what I mean?
Like, you're really uplifting people's spirits and I want to just tell you, like, we're going to kick the jokes, but we give, we give, I don't know what I'm saying.
I appreciate it.
Thank you.
Thank you.
You bring us up to speak, man, give us a brief introduction for those of you, you know, of our audience who may not be too familiar or know what you got going on, how you came to the game, and how you start killing the game.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, you know, me, I'm a church boy, man, grew up in church.
My, when I first came into consciousness, I think I was on the front row of church somewhere.
And my grandma was the pastor at the time, and my dad was on the organ, and my mom was like directing the choir.
You know what I'm saying? That's my world.
Who was watching the baby?
He was right there.
Nobody was watching me.
Jesus was watching.
So that was my whole reality growing up.
You know what I mean?
I was the black skinny buck tooth guy
who got clowned and bullied at school all the time.
You know what I'm saying?
So that never felt good.
So I didn't feel comfortable there.
I only felt comfortable in my little small church
with my family, about 50 of us, whatever.
So when I got a age and was able to play,
I was about 12 years old, you know,
I spoke in tongues.
I got the Holy Ghost.
You know what I mean?
You couldn't test the keys unless you did that.
My church was very religious, very legalistic, very, can't do this, can't do this, can't do this, can't do this, can't do this.
And I appreciate, I appreciate the foundation, but not the tradition.
You know what I'm saying, let all that go.
But I started playing defender roads around that time, 12 years old, just taking over.
Then my dad became the pastor, then I'm playing the organ, and we just cultivating this sound.
When I say we, my brother started playing the bass after a while.
My mom bought him like every instrument.
He like landed on the bass.
Like flute, trumpet, sax, nothing was working for him.
One day he was coming downstairs and I was making sense on the bass.
He was like, that's mine.
You know what I mean?
He took it and he didn't put it down yet.
He played for John Patis now.
He don't play for everybody.
John Legend and everybody and every other John.
He played for all the John.
So we started cultivating the sound though.
Like just yumble, just 13, 15, 16 years old.
And in our garage, just like a garage band.
Like me and my cousin and this sound that we would put like hypnotize in the hymns.
You know what I mean?
Because we were so bored with how everything was, all the hymns was the same.
All the churches were the same, all the...
She was like, pass, me not...
I was like, do, do, do, do, do...
Me not close.
And the church mothers ain't know what I was on.
They was like, yes, Jesus, yes.
And the young people was like, I'm feeling that!
You know what I'm saying?
When they found out we got in trouble.
that we got in trouble, but we started just trying to find another way, another vein.
And that kind of grew that we had in my own group.
I started my group, 96, 96.
We immediately did this movie called Prince of Egypt, which was an animated journal about The Life of Moses.
Yeah, so they actually made them brown in that movie.
They made it a movie.
No, I wasn't in it.
It was a cartoon.
I know the cartoon because we're watching it now.
We was in the soundtrack to the movie.
Okay.
So we were like the only choir in the soundtrack, so Faith Hill was on at Whitney Houston.
So when we did the movie premieres, we was the only, like, group of choir backing everybody up.
Faith Hill, fall in love with us.
Everybody, we go on tour with Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.
They sold a soul tour.
We go on tour with Don Henley.
And I go from this small church to the world, to stadiums and arenas, like, talk about culture shot.
So I went from, you know, you can't win.
to this whole world, and it just opened me up.
From that point on, I was like, oh, I ain't going to be the same, y'all.
The world is bigger than just what we thought God was
and what we think, you know, this world is.
And from that, we was doing this whole neo-soul movement in Philly.
So the Roots, my people love y'all.
My first album was in the Root Studio.
Jill Scott, Erica Batu, DeAngelo, Belial, Flau,
all that whole sound.
We was playing for them.
All, we was playing for all of them.
One of the, her name is Vivian Green, we're basically cousins.
She was about to get signed to Columbia Records.
So she said, I got to go.
She was singing her ass off.
Huh?
She'd be singing her ass up.
Oh, you're like, okay, see, I love Vib.
So, shout out of Vib.
So she was like, Tad, I need you to put together a band, a couple of singers.
I'm doing a showcase for them.
They like my demo, but they just want to see me.
So I put together people from my group, you know, they was called GA.
My gospel group and my band, they was called Soundcheck.
So I've got a couple of people we did the showcase.
and Tommy Mottolan was like,
yo, and Donnie Ainer, they was like,
we love Vivian, we're going to sign her,
but who's that guy?
Because I just got energy,
I was on the keys like,
you know what I mean?
I don't be chilling.
I'm always giving everything.
I'm always like, ah,
who the guy on the keys?
And the producers were like,
well, that's a different story.
That's a gospel guy.
He's gospel, but thank you.
We're going to sign Viv, right?
He said, yeah, we're on a sign Viv and the gospel guy.
Right.
I was in there, like,
I ain't had no black and white.
I ain't had no bio.
I ain't had nothing.
Yo, within a couple of months, I had a contract sent to me.
They ain't heard no music at all.
And we got signed to Sony, Columbia Records.
Don't tell me God ain't good.
My story is real.
You can't tell me God ain't real.
So we had our first album out without all that.
And from there, it's just been like, boop, boop, boom.
And God's just been blessed, man.
So now I got my latest album is called All Things New.
Just came out Friday.
Well, I don't know when it's going to air, but it just came out recently,
and the response has been really, really good on that.
But the journey to get to that was kind of crazy,
and I'm sure we'll get into some of that now.
Yeah, but that's me, man.
I've been married.
I'll be married 25 years in December.
Woo!
How you doing it?
December.
What?
How you doing?
What?
What?
We can talk about that.
How do you do it?
How I do it?
Yeah.
Messing up.
Mistakes.
Learning.
Humility.
And communication.
If you can make those be your best friends
in any relationship, not just marriage.
You and your homie.
Humility, communication.
As soon as we offended, we out.
Soon as ain't something we like, we out.
It's just like swiping on Instagram.
I don't like what you said, bye.
I don't like what you did, bye.
You can't treat people like that.
You jacked up too.
You messed up too.
Some people are worth going beyond the offense.
And you know how much you love somebody
by how much you go beyond an offense.
an offense.
So I told my wife,
we're going to be in this forever.
So I'm offended by some of the stuff
she did and said.
She's offended by some of the,
or argue like anybody else.
But she's worth going beyond that to me.
And if the person ain't worth it,
then your love level's probably
you're on four or five or six.
But if yours is on a hundred,
that's real right there.
And that's lasting relationships,
whether it's a boss, employee,
wife, boohing,
whatever it is,
relationships,
My heart bleeds for relationships now
because everyone is about themselves.
Everyone has a list of how you're supposed to be
and if you don't meet the criteria,
people are disposable to people, man.
Love don't exist no more.
It don't.
Not that real thing.
You know, very rarely do it exist.
So we're trying to be that and examples of that.
And through many bumps and bruises,
through infidelities, through all of that stuff,
through stuff that couples do not make it through,
It was tough
It gets rough
It gets crazy
We separate
You sit over there
I sit over here
You stay in Jersey
I'm going to L.A. for a minute
But at the end of the day
With God on your side
And with some humility
And communication
And understanding
And finding somebody
Who's worth
Going beyond
The hurt
The offense
The betrayal
Some people are worth it
Everybody ate
To you
And that's fine
But she's worth it to me
And when you find that, you're going to be married a hundred years.
Thanks.
Two girls, 16 and 20, so y'all pray for me, please.
Wow about that.
And that's me.
I'm a leader of a church called Live Church in Orlando.
We be chilling.
I love it.
Shout out Live.
I love y'all so much.
And I'm just enjoying life, man, and enjoying the journey.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm just making the world a better place, one conversation at a time.
Thanks.
And that's real what you said about the humility and conversation.
You feel me?
Yeah.
That's what keeps the nation together.
But, and it...
Go ahead, brother.
Speak, pastor.
Once you offend it, though,
that's the leading character
in your new movie of thoughts.
Like, that's it.
You just see the pain
of what you've been through,
the offense of what happened.
How could you do that to me?
After all out, man,
that's all we see is red and black.
And I'm not saying we shouldn't feel that.
That's even the problem.
Bible says be angry, but said not.
Be angry, but don't, all right, don't let the sun go down.
You're still mad. You're mad all week.
Right. You mad all month.
I remember the movie Life with Eddie and Martin.
They mad 40-something years.
They wasted all that time.
Because all this song is red.
I get it.
Been there, get there.
But, yo, and it's not the easiest thing to do.
I depend on God. So I'm not telling anybody to do anything in their own strength,
but I'm not here to preach.
My story is I depend on the Holy Spirit.
I depend on God.
Asked him for help and through the wisdom he gives, through the knowledge he gives, the way he gives, it takes humility because it's not like, well, lo, you may not, like, it takes that discipline.
And people don't feel like doing that.
It's like, nah, you know exactly what you did and why you did it.
You know exactly what you said that you know.
And they do sometimes.
So we feel justified in holding that resentment and that angle like, nah.
Like this is our justice
This is my justice to me
This is me protecting me
And doing me right
And sometimes to a certain extent
You need to do that because you don't want to be a doormat
You don't want to get pushed over or abused
And I'm definitely not encouraging that
However, it got to come a time
Like I said, yo somebody got to be worth it
Besides your kids
Your kids can do no wrong to you
That ain't the most tripling
Come on
You feel me? Don't touch that
What this? Don't do that
But as soon as you got rules with your spouse or whatever,
it's like you ain't got, your fuse is short.
Somebody got to be worth it.
And if we worth it to God,
that he's going to get on that cross.
I believe he did that for us.
I believe that.
If we were it to him and we still ain't even thinking of,
you know what I'm saying?
Somebody in our lives should be as well.
But even, I do not want to go here.
Go hell.
You better go that.
Because we're dead.
We weren't on you to come in.
Y'all waiting on me to come in?
Yeah, we brought you here.
You brought you in.
You're at the house.
You're at the house.
It's touching.
God welcome all over here.
It's touching.
No, I'm not.
I'm just touching.
But I need to be able to get in brief.
I do your thing.
All right.
All right.
You're going to be happy.
I need to be able to take it in.
That's what we're going on.
I'm like.
No, I didn't know why you brought you.
We wanted you to get this deep.
Got you.
Even race.
Racism.
Everybody.
talk about the white man and this
and that and there's a lot of truth.
I'm not denying any truth.
You know what I mean?
I stand for the truth.
My whole thing is about the truth.
But that's...
Go ahead. Go ahead.
But...
At what point
do we respond differently?
What people do to you
reveals them.
How you respond reveals you.
One more time.
Say that again.
Say that again.
What people do to you, it reveals them.
Wow, that's whack.
They tried to, they, wow, I can't believe they did that to me.
They, they wrong for that one.
How you respond reveals you.
So I'm trying not to let happenings get me out of pocket.
It's got to be a way I could just be forever chill.
There's got to be something that I could just lock in and, okay.
You know what I'm saying?
It didn't move me off my pivot.
If it don't mess up my faith, my family.
or my finances, I try not to let it get me out of pocket.
You understand what I'm saying?
So when everybody put up posting and there's a hashtag every week
and we're getting out of pocket, now I know that as a nation,
we got it, something has to change and I get all that
and I'm not trying to be political.
That's why I want to go here because I'm not on a political thing.
I'm on the kingdom tip right now.
But at some point, we've got to not emotionally invest
in so much that we are now out of line or deterrent.
in our destiny or what's best for you.
Now, you are out of pocket for your purpose
because you're so upset at either what you see online
or what has happened to you personally.
Anger, Moses, yo, is a guy in the Bible named Moses.
Talk to me.
I'm not just being funny, but...
Yo, he was supposed to go to the promised land.
God said, yo, speak to the rock.
He hit the rock.
And God was like, oh, okay, so you're so mad at the people
that you're going to disobey me, you ain't going to see the
promised land.
Moses doesn't let these people do all these ten plans.
in the red seat and he didn't make it because he was mad he was so mad all he saw was black like yo so i don't want
another person to make me miss it no i don't want no i don't want no i don't want no there's another
guy in the bible his name was jonah he got on this boat he was disobeying god said go this way i'm
going this way he got on that boat and he robbed the boat he rocked that whole boat that boat started
they was like who messing up on here who whose problem is
essentially what they're saying is
I know how to cause problems in my own life
I know how to rock my own boat but this
rocket ain't me somebody
is somebody outside of me is causing my ship
to have turbulence to have causing my heart
to be troubled causing my mind
to have warfare I'm giving them too much
of me you understand what I'm saying
especially if you don't know especially if it's a post
especially if it's the president or whatever
It's too much to invest in when I got things around my house to take care of, my kids.
I still got a goal I'm trying to reach.
I still got da-da-da-da-da.
And I'm not mad at knowledge.
I love knowledge.
But at a certain point, when you get off your pivot and all that stuff, I think it's good to pull back for a minute and look at it from a pure view.
That's why I love the pandemic.
People like, you love the pandemic?
I love that time.
Well, not the pandemic.
I don't want nobody to die.
Not the virus.
but the quarantine, oh, bro, I loved it.
I wish we could do that every other year.
I love it to pull back from all systems
and things that I was connected to
that I didn't even realize I was part of
habitually things I just did.
You had to unplug.
You had to get back to you.
We're supposed to get to savvy.
Because some people could never even imagine a day
or a week or a month where you can't go outside
or go to work.
You can't go do this.
Do you understand that?
Where it's life of death is urgent.
Is it worth it?
Right.
What's worth it?
Right.
What's worth going outside?
It says in the Bible that it's certain things that we're supposed to do.
Straight up.
You see what I'm saying?
That is required for us to do that week.
And this is why it says it because you are detached from all the things that's got you deterred from the right.
Even other relationships.
Now we back to that.
How do y'all feel about that?
Like the relationships, how do you relate to people?
Do you feel like, you know, you got a long fuse with people?
got patience or is it like...
I ain't got no patience.
That's why the place me
to do this. I don't even
like people. Got you. I understand that.
He said, I'm going to put you around so many
people. And not even
that, they come to you for everything.
You got to make them smile.
You got to make them happy.
Not only that,
but I need for you to see the joy
that it brings
them. But that's going to make
you feel good.
So even though I don't like y'all,
I need you.
I need you.
That's everybody's reality.
And that's a humbling thing.
You understand what I'm saying?
Mm-hmm.
We need each other.
I need you, motherfucker.
I know.
I can't stand you, but I need you.
Word.
I know we say we self-made and all that,
but nobody self-made, yo.
Can't do it without the people.
Yeah.
So we got to get a healthy perspective of relationships
so that we can be
we're supposed to be in the earth.
Now I'm about to go a little bit deeper now, but I'm chilling.
Talk.
I was doing this study.
I forgot his name, forgive me.
But this ain't me right here, but this is something I study.
I'm going to add me to it.
He was talking about how most of us live out of,
and my wife brought this to me because she was doing some therapy.
And most of us live out of unmet needs, right?
So we have a lot of unmet needs which cause like complex trauma.
So let's say a basic need from a child from the ages of zero to 12 is love,
affection, safety, affirmation, validation, encouragement.
These are all basic needs.
So when I don't get that as a child, I don't get safety, my dad ain't there,
or, you know, I grew up with just my mom and I don't feel that safety or protection.
When you three years old, and that's a basic need or validation, little Johnny, you're going to be amazing.
And your, Ty, you're going, without that basic need from the age of three to whatever,
you either shut it down.
Like, I don't get affection from my mom because dad left and she's always working.
So affection is a basic need.
If I don't get that, I either commit what they call soul suicide and I just kill that part of me
or I look for it in anything, which is where addictions come from.
Now I've got alcoholism.
I'm just trying to soothe the pain of not having a basic need.
It's painful at that age
We are of age now
We grow men
But when you five and four
It's painful not to have
The basic needs met
So we're wired to go away from pain
Towards pleasure
So I'm gonna shut it down
I don't need affection now
You grow up in the hood
You go, I don't need it, I'm good
Yeah, you're just hard
Now you're married or dating somebody
You don't know how to be affectionate
And you're crying at a fucking cartoon
And you don't know what
Tom and Jerry
Tom and Jerry
Man, they're trying to hug this, mama.
You were mouth.
Oh, man, shit.
Oh, shit.
What you know what you know, man?
I ain't never seen what beautiful shit like that before.
He's a beautiful, fuck, man.
What you're watching?
What are you watching?
Shrek.
Yeah.
He's the feet on the tide to knock.
That's a good dog.
He got him.
He got one.
He got one.
He found your one.
Word.
She stayed.
She stayed.
Man, every time you look on social media, man,
one of the black band got to talk about some love and shit,
they're going to start crying.
They got this new card game commercial.
This lady was like, tell me why you love me, that nigga said.
Just cut the way you love me.
He did not explain it.
Brother, that's what I'm saying.
We're not used to love this black man, bro.
How affirmation is love.
Yeah.
Literally.
Like, it's not a...
Maybe like, so how do you want us to love you?
Well, if you read the book, you understand.
A king, we reap out of the most simplest motherfuckers.
You're right.
We're simple.
You're right.
Simple.
Simple.
Yeah.
It's a little shit.
Yeah.
You tell your man, wake him up and tell him here, King.
Just watch the energy chain.
Mm.
Mm.
True.
You see what I'm saying?
Yeah.
It makes a nigga go out here and it's just that emotion of saying, okay, I do have a backbone.
Yeah.
I know when I, because I'm getting that.
affirmation because even when I walk and I'm talking like it yeah I'm a king
yeah so you sometimes your girl a lot of us do things for our girl because she feeds us
she feeds that she feeds it yeah yeah because we ain't having we was going up we ain't got it man
if you grow up in a hood or in a religious church like me the whole vibe is fear right it's like
you in a jungle like they call new york and you know the concrete jungle so like the hood is like
the jungle and the main thing there like only the strong survive you gotta be tough you're
You got a roar at, roar at this invisible enemy.
Yeah, you feel me?
You got to just like, ah, make sure you, you know, I'm not playing.
Because that's fear, that's fear.
So fear and love can't exist in the same place.
Either you're doing something because you're scared or you're doing something because you love.
When your car is making a strange noise, no matter what it is, you can't just pretend it's not happening.
That's an interesting sound.
It's like your mental health.
If you're struggling and feeling overwhelmed,
it's important to do something about it.
It can be as simple as talking to someone
or just taking a deep, calming breath to ground yourself.
Because once you start to address the problem,
you can go so much further.

Remember the movie pass era,
where you could watch all the movies you wanted
for just $9, it made
zero cents and I could not stop thinking
about it. I'm Bridget Todd,
host of the tech podcast, there are no girls on the
internet. On this new season, I'm talking
to the innovators who are left out of the tech
headlines, like the visionary behind
a movie pass, black founder, Stacey
Spikes, who was pushed out
of movie pass the company that he founded.
His story is wild and it's
currently the subject of a juicy new HBO
documentary. We dive into how
culture connects us. When you go
to France, or
Are you go to England, or you go to Hong Kong?
Those kids are wearing Jordans.
They're wearing Kobe's shirt.
They're watching Black Panther.
And the challenges of being a Black founder.
Close your eyes and tell me what a tech founder looks like.
They're not going to describe someone who looks like me and they're not going to describe someone who looks like you.

So I grew up performance-based.
I didn't get any validation
unless I played or did something
or you live right, you're doing what God's say.
Now you accept it.
I didn't get acceptance unless I perform.
So now I've got a performance-based mentality.
Now I'm around people like, hey,
I feel like I have to perform.
just chill and be tied, because I'm not going to be accepted of love.
You know what I mean?
A lot of us got that type of, it's a different way of how you're showing it.
Yeah.
Because like even when you bring it down.
Yeah, they're not showing it unless you're doing something.
Unless you're doing something.
So we don't know to do that.
Like if you do that, they're not accepting and you're receiving the love that you need.
That you should have had before you perform.
So now the child think they always got to clean the dishes to care daddy love.
See, that's another thing.
See, like we always feel like we have to do something to be love.
That's what I'm saying.
But we grew up like that, y'all.
And I'm not mad if the parents,
the parents had unmet needs,
and their parents had unmet needs.
They're just being a man, though.
There's nobody just love men, unconditional.
You got to do something.
Like you said, our rewards are performance-based.
If you're not a provider, if you're not a protector,
that's pretty, you either get to be a provider or a protector or a protective provider.
But if you're not doing any of those two things, you pretty much useless.
You're not, nobody's view.
They don't respect you as a man if you're not.
Being a provider.
the breadwinner or the one who's providing the safety or the one who has the resources.
That's culture, though, man.
That's not humanity.
That's not healthy humanity.
That's culture.
And I get it that man, the heads and we're responsible and all that.
But it doesn't mean to degrade or disrespect or not honor if we're in that space where we're, you know, going towards or whatever.
Because right now we're living in a time where I say a man can upgrade a woman and she has.
you could not say nothing,
but she,
Taney ain't got that.
But I'm like,
it's not vice versa
that a woman has something
and go find a man
who has nothing
and not
it's still.
It's just fun of it.
And instill in him
like he's a king.
Got you.
You see what I'm saying?
Like he turned him
into a king.
He was lost.
Yeah, yeah.
He needed you.
Yeah.
But he had nothing.
He's a man with nothing
going to meet a woman
with everything.
You're a man with nothing.
Where are you going to be
meeting these
successful as women now?
Well, let me say this.
Walking back.
Sometimes, if you got vision, like, if you got vision, I ain't had nothing.
I was playing for my church.
I was making, I don't even know, $100, $100 a week.
My wife, her father passed.
So she came into some change.
When we first got married, she put up money for the first apartment.
Her mom gave me the first car.
I ain't have it.
So she carried, like, that first year.
The marriage, like, and I'm like, whoa.
You know, I brought my, I paid the rent.
But to get us in place, you know, you got that first and last month.
Yeah, yeah, you need that deposit.
You don't need that part of the first and last month.
I got $500 a month.
I ain't get between.
I need you.
Man, man.
Come on.
Then you got to put the utilities, you got to set in with all that.
We got to make that hard-ass phone call.
They're looking for you.
That one.
That one.
These folks are talking about they need another something.
Yeah.
No, I gave them one.
That.
We need another co-sounding, man.
So I had one to hold me down.
for a minute you know I mean because she believed in the vision and where I was going
right I understand a man not having nothing but if you got a vision at least right
and goals and working towards him but that's what I'm saying but that's the thing the
vision is there it just made me the process so it's just the way the tables are turned
and we have to have something I got you like it's hard like it's safe for she was
with me with us when we had something this I'm having you she made she made
thing around yeah because she ain't used to that you gotta
uphold her lifestyle as well how was it that women
I don't know I've been out of the game again I've been married 25 years
how is it that a lot of women though can get these things apartments
solid jobs da da da da da because somebody else they don't have to do everything
somebody gonna meet them halfway right same sales they got a lot of a lot of women
have silent investors without fucking I want to make who's gonna make things happen
right the you know that hard phone call yeah I got you
call is easy for them.
Yeah, they said you can make the check out,
or you can just go online.
So humility, there's male pride.
It's the male pride.
And women are proud of going to go on a college.
We ain't going to work at Target.
So look at our homie see us there, but why not?
They feed that to them like, oh, you being the king by doing that,
instead of the bigger trying to put her on some line.
Well, you ain't had to be making any four o'clock in the morning
to fall, bitch, I'm asleep.
See, that's the worst part about it, though,
because you don't never know at what level that you're at,
bro.
You want me a baby.
There's always going to be somebody.
on the next level who got more resources than you.
The man with the most resources is going to have more than everything.
Yeah, if she don't have nothing, if you got a little bit,
that's a lot to her.
Right.
How many women are like that, though?
They go from man with more to man with more to man with more.
That's the game.
That's the game.
That's exactly.
They just keep dating up.
But are they women?
The nigga who got the most.
So they never, they never like connect with nobody and like really like, yo.
No, it's an incredible security blanket.
I do a girl right now.
If you meet a girl, if you meet a woman, and she dates professional athletes.
No cap.
She don't just date one.
You would think this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for somebody to meet somebody who's rich and famous and successful.
But you got to keep it right.
This is who she dates.
This is her dating pool, the entire league.
All these motherfuckers are rich.
And those dudes, they never really had a girl that looked like something.
Right.
So once they get the attention, the un-
Unmend needs, I got you.
Now it's like, you got to understand.
A nigga ain't never had no hose,
and all of a sudden he got some money.
And that shit is.
I got a hole now?
Right.
Oh, I ain't never had the holes
and you're telling the these men you said,
they're doing anything I can say.
You can watch the levels of how that shit works.
Like the rapper boyfriend, that's like the intro.
That's like your starter baller.
Right.
Then one of them guaranteed contract athletic niggas show up.
150-em, yeah, them motherfuckers show up.
And then it's another level.
You're gonna build that nigga four months down.
You made sure to take the real ball.
Just be some random-ass baseball player with $100 million.
Can he speak?
So love don't exist across the board.
You never even know who these mothers are.
That's a small percentage.
That ain't, all.
But what I'm saying is.
No, we ain't even women.
Yeah, because that ain't even women.
I would put them in the whole category or, yeah.
Yeah.
There's some holes in doing that.
There's some women out of, like you said, it's helping their men.
But they don't get the acknowledgement.
Man, that's what I'd be saying
because I know for a fact, it's
real, right.
Those women are, right?
They're catching hell.
Because they are believing in bullshit
and they still supporting their out of.
That's what I'm trying to say.
It'll be the bullshit, nigga, that'd be running
them motherfuckold to the ground.
Right.
Yeah.
And we got to say that.
Babers, we know it's y'all out there.
But we know it's bullshit that niggum
that's running y'all to the ground.
What we're trying to tell you is,
me, that nigg ain't getting with a real niggum.
So y'all can be a power cop here.
He didn't fuck their confidence up,
Don't she think don't nobody want her but him right and he ain't even shit to have
He ain't shit that nigger siren is pirate he know took three refund shit and went to the club
He can fuck up everything he touched everything everything everything he touch ain't dropped yeah
Hey but you do you like man hey hey hey you're the laid dick for larger
But she left around for a long time that's the thing though
But it could lie that motherfucker for a long time.
We didn't think dick got so much value.
It do.
Don't take the value away.
Man, you know how many times women get dick off a dick or in a day?
They ain't never short them.
They're in a week.
They're like ads.
You can't stop the ads from popping up on your phone.
Man.
How many of them motherfuckers' ass you think they're going to click, though?
She ain't turning all of them down.
She might not fucking the day, but she'll throw a few of them in the freezer.
Right.
They keep some dicks around.
She's more pussy than you ever got.
Her pussy backed up for the next three years.
She knows the next four, five niggins she gonna fuck.
She didn't already put them in order.
Right.
Ain't nobody just showing up getting no pussy these days.
You gotta be on the wait list.
Like you're buying a Ferrari, my nigga.
These three niggas who been taking care of her the months
that she was just playing the niggas over.
I must know the owner because I ain't waiting on the last.
I know the owner.
Some motherfuckers don't.
We're pulling up in them on the bad ladies.
Yeah, man.
Part that was close.
Yeah.
They're running.
People are right there right there.
Going up coming down.
Yeah, you ain't going to be up that long.
Going up coming down.
This is a motherfucker like, no, take my shit to the garage.
I'm fend to be over here.
See, that's the point.
I got somewhere to be.
I got another meaning to go to.
You don't get the luxury, bro.
Whoever you, something like, the girl you want to fuck somebody really trying to cuff her.
Yeah, that's every girl.
The only reason that she's not letting this man cuff yet
is because she got three more pieces of the pussy she want to give up.
I'm going to get it.
about the sheep. They look, they're like, wait a minute, I need to get the place before they
go. I'll be outside five more minutes. Just let the street light come on.
Five more minutes. Five more minutes. I'm getting all the free plates until there. Ain't no more
place to get. This is a cultural tutorial for me. No, can you know.
Oh, gee, we didn't let's go on outside. In the last 25 years, man, man, when you was out here in the
streets, it wasn't a whole lot of pussy out here. Yeah, well, I don't know. No.
Man, I was out here
For the 9-9 to the 2000
Because you lit
That that ass up
That was the year
That everything got fucked up
For real
Everybody always praised that shit
But that's the year
That's the year that everything
got fucked up
When they
When the 9-9 in the 2000
That's what I'm telling you
It's like somebody had
The motherfucking thing
And they just flooded
The streets with pussy
When it was just giving pussy
It way with reckless abandon
And now pussy don't even have
No value to them
We used to be like
Man that shit
was fly. I got some pussy. Now it's
like
you got some pussy.
You know what the equivalent to getting
some pussy is, man? It's like
smoking the blood. You can smoke everywhere
now. Pussy
isn't exclusive. Women give you
some pussy first now.
Yo.
First. Yeah, they give you the pussy first.
What's you going to do now? Now you got to talk to me.
The pussy's out the way. You want to smoke?
But you can't out fuck these new women.
These men, I can't smoke. I don't know. I don't know.
They're doing real push-up now, not them girl push-ups.
These are a different breed of motherfuckers.
Oh, me, if you do a push-up like me, I'm leave.
I'm the type of- You get down there and do a whole push-up down, two-thous out of you.
I mean, that's why it's, I mean, I guess ways matter.
Ways matter.
I mean, I'm the type of dude by nature, and my nature, I'm a rule breaker.
You know what you mean?
Like.
You're just going to break the rule.
You're just going to do what they say don't do.
what they say don't do.
Yeah, I enjoy everybody going that way.
I'm going this way.
Everybody stand up.
I'm sitting down.
I enjoy that naturally.
Okay.
You know what I'm saying?
When I say naturally, I mean like, you know what I mean?
Like, with God's help, I, I kind of stay in the rules.
If the, if the speed limit is 55, I'm definitely going 70, 75, 80.
That ain't 50.
Everybody else doing that too, though.
Okay, cool.
You guys got what I'm saying.
Hold on, hold on.
Hold on.
Say that again.
That's for safety.
One more time for the people.
Okay, so there are ways and rules and laws set up for relationships for safety from everything we're talking about.
We just don't like to go by.
Who is abstinence?
I mean, see how quiet it got in the entire Atlanta?
Because we could talk about how messed up all this stuff is, and I'm like, yeah, y'all right, y'all right, y'all right.
But that's that way, that's that way.
It might not be, though.
Would you say?
That might not be the right way.
That's what I'm saying.
I'm suggesting it's strongly that it's not.
Like even now, a lot of us are talking about and I'm no, I want to say, I'm no saying,
I am not perfect, y'all.
I just talked about infidelity and my marriage.
I was one of them dudes like, yo, I'm finally getting attention.
Whoa, did she like me?
She liked me?
And she like, hey, you married now.
I'm like, oh yeah, that's right.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
Oh.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying.
When that first started happening for me, I was like, wow, I was jaded by that.
was jaded by that.
But my point is saying that the rules,
the ways are already established,
we don't enjoy it.
Everybody's talking now about the abortion thing.
Right.
I'm not even going to get on that.
But nobody is talking about like abstinence,
which is the step before that unless you rape,
and I ain't talking about that.
Yeah, it's too many what ifs.
You understand what I'm saying?
Nobody's talking about like the step before the issue.
We just talk about the issue.
because the step before ain't sexy
it ain't fun
it's not culture
it's not what everybody on
I don't know if I could do that
I ain't got no self-control
I need to hit this this and that
who want to be by themselves
who want to not have sex
so we gotta get married to fuck
I'm just saying
there are way
I'm just saying
right right right
look at you so you gotta get me
I see you scratching that nose
I am not I am not laying the rules
I always tell people
I'm not the judge
I just work for him
and again I'm feeling
I felt like this
Moses stood up and said
thou shall not kill after he killed somebody so I'm that I'm not saying I'm just saying
there is a way to avoid all of that area of frustration fact that we just talked about
but it can't just be you on that she got to be on that too you understand you're saying no
or that doesn't happen no it doesn't happen or you don't want to do it don't exist I know
even if it that's what I'm saying there's not enough of that to go around I understand I understand
I understand so
So you're so we're saying here like that's impossible
No it's not impossible
It's a discipline dude it's a discipline no it's a discipline no it's a discipline
It's temporary
That shit ain't working in the fucking world
It's not possible
Ain't nowhere in the world we're doing that
In the world it ain't a tribe that do that
It ain't a culture that do that that shit is happening
Even the people who go to church and say
You're right?
You can't be married until you're 35 years old.
Well, why are you fucking 96 women in this church?
Yeah, right.
This man, some fucking going to happen.
You put two people around each other.
They fuck it.
All that shit gonna go out the window.
It was fucking why they was making the Bible.
What you think they did when they was leaving?
I got to go to Bible in the morning.
Go ahead.
They shot up suck it to the penis.
Again, I'm not preaching
And I'm not to tell you what to do
Yeah, I understand
Yeah, word up, right up
Word up, man
Yeah, I'll tell you
So you're too far gone
As a people
It's not, that
We're not built like that
The people who put that shit in place
Wasn't even built like that
These was freaking motherfuckers
We're in powder wigs
And they had mutilated genitals and shit
These people are fucking weird
This whole shit that we
following is created by some fucking weird-ass people.
All right, let's go, let's go, let's go deeper, though.
Let's go, yeah, let's go deeper, let's go deeper.
It's going to go real deep, because, like, we're going to sit here and talk about all the
shit in the Bible, talk about all the shit about how black people lane, all that shit,
talk about that shit, talk about that part.
That shit wasn't even created with us in mind.
Let them tell it we're supposed to be slaves.
We got that, all this old bullshit.
I don't get parts.
I don't know we got enough time.
I'm not saying you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I got you.
I'm speaking to
I'm saying, I'm going to.
People like to pick what's
healthy for their argument,
but they're like,
they can read the rest of that.
Yeah.
You don't know the second part?
Yeah.
Like, how are you just going to keep saying
the same shit over and over again?
Most of this shit that people
try to use an argument.
Yeah.
Ain't even in the Bible.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
A lot of this shit is just an interpretation.
We're not going to all see this shit
like, like you said,
thou shall not kill.
Right.
Unless.
Right.
Most I'm going to try to kill you.
You feel me?
But, you know, but the commandments were made for the wicked.
So it's two things.
No, not unless I tell you to kill them.
It's unless for everything.
Doubt shall not look at your neighbor's wife.
Unless she was looking at you first.
It's got to be a grip, but y'all got to get some consent.
He's deeper than that, though.
Everything is, and that's what I'm going.
That's what I want to go.
So you got the law, which is the thou shale nots that you're saying.
Made for the wicked.
Right.
And then you got the spirit, though.
That's.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Talk your tongue.
Go on.
I'm not disagree with anything.
To me, to me, we all got the voice of God in us.
I call it.
I don't believe that.
I got you.
That's why we rap.
Everybody don't even believe in God, first of all.
They don't have to for him.
If he's speaking, you don't got to believe in him or not.
Exactly.
You speak?
Yeah, but your belief is your response to the voice or not.
not. So if you don't believe it, you're not going to respond.
And I mean, you don't, we call it intuition or something told me not to go there.
Man, that's the voice of God. We ain't that smart, bro.
Yeah.
Yep. So I'm just saying, hold on.
Some people are and don't have that.
No, listen, listen to me. Just hear me out.
To me, it's called like the secret place, right?
God can and does communicate with any and everybody.
Hold on. Just hear me out.
he could communicate with sinners
he could communicate with save
he could communicate with water
stand out let my people through
he can communicate with
birds and animals
y'all come two by two to this art
he can communicate with anything
like who is this man that the winds and the seas
obey him peace be still and a storm stop
he could communicate with anything
not even just people so how is people
out of his reach just because we don't respond
to him and we don't stop doing what's right
oh, what's wrong, da-da-da-da.
Don't mean he ain't speaking to us.
So I feel like he's speaking to us,
drawing us to righteousness or what is right.
We take baby steps or no steps at all,
or opposite steps.
It does not mean he's not speaking,
and that's why he could be a fair judge.
So let's say, when you get to heaven,
and he's like, bro, I've been telling you all this time,
I've been feeling that.
I've been feeling something in my eye.
That's God like trying to
Why are we so sold on this concept of heaven?
Why let's forget heaven that?
There's something greater than all of us that brought us here, bro.
Maybe.
So who, so, okay.
So if you don't believe that, period.
I didn't say nothing about what I believe.
See what I'm saying?
That's why, that's why this whole thing is so subjective.
Because it's a million and one, what ifs.
What if we do, we could be doing this whole thing wrong.
It could be the flip.
Because just like you said
Like you said, the wicked
No man is perfect
But what if somebody was
Maybe he was God's son
Even he couldn't survive in the wickedness
So we're just gonna say
What should mean he couldn't survive in a weakness?
They killed him
Just because he was of a higher source
And a higher power
And he had the ability to transform
Or reigncaronate or rise after the death
like so if he if he did get killed if no he did well he said no man
I lay it down he said no man takes my life I lay it down right that's the Bible
right so if you're gonna say he ain't have to go for real for real because you really could
slap me that's what I'm saying but so in this situation who won the good
Hold on, hold on.
Which one was you on?
What's what I'm trying to tell you?
Fuck y'all, man.
But see, that's what I'm trying to tell you.
It was bigger than him.
Why did he do it?
Why did he do it?
He had a purpose.
Right.
He had to go do what he had to do.
You gonna get hit.
Yeah.
Because if they do it to you, they're doing to anybody,
but get what?
Keep going.
Yeah, I just love to be objective about this shit.
I love it.
That's why I said, talk to him.
I love it.
It's all ways it's the possibility.
It's like, I don't try to, I don't,
I don't try to, I don't knock.
anybody's religious belief because I think it's a million and one ways to get to God.
Okay.
And there is no right or wrong way to do it because it's, like you said,
that there are a million names that people call God.
But it's the same entity and they feel the same way and they have the same passion
as you do in your translation.
You get what I'm saying?
Yeah.
But once you tap into it and you really know what going on, you feel me?
You just break it down, like you say, interpretation.
Once you break it down and you really see what going on,
because you will believe an American history book,
And I don't want to believe this book, I ain't even sitting here and tell me that we was in Egypt and all this and these folks ain't black.
Even sitting here telling me, I already say, yeah, he's going to bring us out of the wilderness, but we're going back in the slaying of 400 years again.
It's telling us.
We just, like you say, we want to sit and believe and do it everything else.
Absinence, that is a former way of him getting closer.
Right, right, right.
My former way is keeping the Sabbath.
I understand that ain't perfect.
I'm gonna fuck these holes.
I'm sorry.
See how you pick and choose your sins?
But that's not sense.
Hold on.
But everybody got, hold on, hold on.
Let me say this.
Everybody has their own relationship.
That's what I'm saying.
That's the...
Oh, come on, man.
Come on, man.
Moses was a doubter.
Oh, man.
Moses was a doubter.
You're not using other people
who fucked up to justify you fucking up.
No, Moses was a doubter.
No, I don't matter.
He kept blessing Moses.
Now, I had to see?
Moses kept down.
Was he really down then?
Yes, he was.
Every time he said something, he was like, I don't know.
Man.
But see, God, it's all.
Man.
Oh, man.
Moses might have said that for God, like, I can see your heart.
I'm God.
You don't really feel like that, Nick.
No, he goes a more blessing.
He made him comfortable.
Why?
Because he still had a purpose.
They already said, God will spite for him like when you don't listen to him.
He ain't.
I'm going to tell you one time, God does get angry.
He was for the key of the people.
Yeah.
One of the people had to tell him, hey.
He talked him down.
Boy, it's in the Bible to Exodus, first action is all, uh, uh, I don't want to think, I don't want to say Aaron or Moses, but they stop.
Let me ask y'all like, they said, they said, why would you kill my people if you're leaving us out of, out of the wilderness, you're taking them back to Israel?
He was like, you know, go ahead, go ahead.
He was like, you're right, go ahead.
What do you like?
Y'all keep it like.
You keep down this.
He said, I'm sure to you.
He said y'all go ahead.
God was like, all right, y'all go here.
There's no doubt.
There's no doubt about God.
It's just to.
I don't doubt the interpretations.
But check this out.
I'm with you on that.
And I'm with you on that.
Because I'm not, I believe in God and all that.
I'm, you know, I'm very.
I can't get you speak Moses at him.
So look, could I say this?
Very in life.
Can I was just going to ask like, do you think God had an old lady?
God had an old lady.
You think God had an old lady?
You think God had an old lady?
And I don't feel like he would give a man an old lady
if he didn't have one.
Well, the Bible says he did nothing without wisdom.
Mm-hmm.
Wisdom is considered a she.
Wisdom is considered a she
every time it's mentioned in the Bible.
See, I'd be on this shit.
I'd be thinking he was hitting on Mother Nature.
What you say?
Who's Mother Nature.
Exactly, who was God.
What'd you say?
God is a spirit.
And then Mother Nature is a what?
Nature is natural.
It's got to be something natural.
What that mean?
You tell me.
You brought up.
Everything has a spirit.
Mm-hmm.
So when you see a tornado or earthquake,
is that God?
Well, they blame that on who?
What you mean?
They blame Mother Nature.
It's Father God and Mother Nature.
Mother Nature is Santa Claus, bro.
Now Mother Nature ain't real.
See, see.
That's not even in the...
We're talking about a specific source.
I'm talking about a specific source.
They didn't have a blood in the Bible?
I'm talking about a specific source.
The Bible.
Now, we're talking about...
I'm just talking about that book.
That's all I'm talking about.
But did you say every time they reference God, it was a goddess?
No, every time they referenced wisdom, it was her or she
in the Bible.
What makes you think this Bible is real?
It's real to me.
But it's a book.
I got you.
We're on the earth then, right?
That's a book.
It could be Harry Potter.
If you believe the words, there's a Bible too.
And H2O is water.
Go beyond the truth.
We believe H2O's water.
Go beyond the truth.
If you try it down, if you try it, if you put H2O together and try it and it's water, you're going to believe it.
I tried the word.
I tried God.
And I believe it.
It works for me.
He works for me. His ways work for me.
I don't always follow his ways and he's still good to me.
He's still good to everybody.
Yeah.
He is good.
I am black.
I can't change that.
I can't come here and not be black because everybody in the room white.
He can't come here and not be good because everybody bad.
He's good.
And the Bible says his goodness leads people to repentance or repent means to change your thinking.
He's so good.
It made me be like, yo, I've been wilding.
After a while, I don't know if you're 50s, 709.
Or on your deathbed, you can be like, I've been wild at my whole life.
He's been good.
But that's what I'm saying is, objectively, somebody had to teach you to believe that.
And I tried it for myself.
You're right.
Right.
Two plus two is four.
Then when I did this, one, two, one.
It is!
Right.
I had to be taught first, but when I tried it, it's true to me.
So it's not about the teaching.
I get brainwarks.
I've been there.
I've been in a witchcraft churches.
I've been in a cult, like, church.
Like, you got to do this and you got to do this.
But didn't they believe what they believe the same with the same conviction that you believe what you believe?
They believe what a different perception.
That's exactly.
With a different perception.
Exactly.
With a different interpretation.
But don't they have a Bible also?
It's a more than monetary gain.
It's not sitting there telling the people and breaking it down as of a history book.
This is a history book.
Lack of wisdom.
This is a history book.
This is a history book.
Yes, exactly.
We're up here giving it a feel good speeches.
Right.
I don't want to feel, I don't want to hear a feel good.
speech break this down but I'm saying at a certain point right in in our
ancestry right these exact same words were used to manipulate a situation right
how can these be the same words that you that you think because we wrote it they
took it from us and tried to tell us what they thought it meant I think that's a good
answer you ain't finished sitting here that's why they tried to use slavery
There ain't nothing but a way of saying involuntary servitude
if you couldn't pay me back my debt.
If I gave you some and you couldn't pay me back,
now you're my slave.
You got up in seven years.
It says, thou shall not beat your slave.
Thou shall not hit your slave.
And if you do, you must be put together.
Then they try to use that and tell the slave
with this, why you was a good slave.
It said right here to buy them.
They don't even know what this mean.
They got it from us.
They try to tell us what it mean.
That's why when you go and read it for yourself,
Thou shalt seek the knowledge if you want it.
If you move your feet and walk towards me, I shall feed you.
Period.
How serious is youth vaping?
Irreversible lung damage serious.
One in ten kids vape serious,
which warrants a serious conversation from a serious parental figure like yourself.
Not the seriously know-it-all sports dad or the seriously smart podcaster.
It requires a serious conversation that is best had by you.
No, seriously, the best person to talk to your child about vaping is you.

Remember the movie pass era, where you could watch all the movies you wanted for just $9?
It made zero cents, and I could not stop thinking about it.
I'm Bridget Todd, host of the tech podcast, there are no girls on the internet.
On this new season, I'm talking to the innovators who are left out of the tech headlines.
Like the visionary behind a movie pass, Black founder Stacey Spikes,
who was pushed out of Movie Pass, the company that he founded.
His story is wild that it's currently the subject of a juicy new HBO documentary.
We dive into how culture connects us.
When you go to France, or you go to England, or you go to Hong Kong,
those kids are wearing Jordans, they're wearing Kobe's shirt,
they're watching Black Panther.
And the challenges of being a Black founder.
close your eyes and tell me what a tech founder looks like.
They're not going to describe someone who looks like me
and they're not going to describe someone who looks like you.

And then after the wild history becomes now,
I'm real life walking in faith, trying to every day.
What's so hard about it?
It's scared.
Flesh.
What's so hard about is my way.
Jesus even said, who I believe is God in flesh,
Jesus even said,
y'all, is there another way to do this father?
I don't want to go on that cross and die.
Let this cut past.
I want to do another way.
He didn't want to do things God's way.
It's the ways, because I got a way.
I want to live my life.
I got a way I want to do relationships.
I got a way I want to make money
I got a way I want to
finesse, whatever.
And God is like,
my way will bless you.
That fight between
what you want
and what he wants for you,
it could be the thing.
Like, you can have a gut feeling
on the inside.
That's a positive thing.
And you can override it like, nah,
nah, like when I was talking
in the beginning about humility
and communication,
you could have heard something like,
yo, you can forget,
you should forgive this.
Forgive.
Well, what's wrong with forgive besides you not wanting to release something?
So on so many different fronts like that, that's why it's hard.
That's why it's hard to live for God because of what I want to do.
And when I leave this spot and I'm in Atlanta chilling and I'm surrounded by everybody
else doing something, we want to do things God's way and we're in the trap.
I'm exposed to everything not his way.
We want to, I ain't, my mind isn't even why.
to be like that.
My mind is wired to survive in the trap.
And you're telling me to do, so that's what fights his way
and his spirit.
But you still got it.
You're still going to get conviction.
You're still going to have, you still going to go to the funeral like,
I need to get myself together.
You still go to the weddings, like, I really want that.
You still want to have these moments when the baby is born.
You're like, oh, God is real.
You're going to have those things because God
ain't going to ever stop dealing with you, bro.
Sis, whoever you are on any level,
he ain't ever going to stop dealing with you.
Not because he's narcissistic and controlling.
controlling he loves you and he knows what's best for your life period he put you here he made you
he said you are the chosen people he created you chosen for what you are you got that's different
everybody got different pet you are the chosen you are the chosen people but it's to be your life
see how we're going on your wife circle this is a wide circle no here it is here people this is what
I believe you're chosen to do but this the thing you are the children what this what I think
Adam here by itself it's not good for man to be here alone I'm gonna send him a help
right not just for sex not even just a wife I'm gonna say help mm-hmm help
another human was created to help so you're here to help somebody and
something in some way period every human purpose is to help another human or
situation in some way wash the car do here do podcast preach rat cut hair
Every purpose, do clothes, make couches.
Everybody's purpose is to help somebody.
Now, God directs you as to, your giftings help.
You know, I'm gifted in doing this, or maybe I'll do this to help.
And when we don't do that to help another,
when we just do it to make money and we just do it to take,
I don't think you're walking in your purpose then, not just saying it and wrong.
But when you do stuff just to take only,
I don't think personally you're walking in your purpose.
Because I think the human...
Humanity about connection.
To serve.
at the end of the day at the goal of God
in heaven that we objectively believe
I believe it. He's going to say well done
good and faithful
serve it. You helped my people.
You helped. What you hit me for?
This is not about
me.
My job is to keep this conversation
going. I'm using
you. I'm being sacrificial right now.
How else what if we
provoke these conversations?
Somebody had to be this person.
He said, somebody didn't have like, right.
And Jesus going to burn his feet.
Right.
And he said right there in Exodus,
he who look at tithes too long
and not going into the land
a promise of servitude.
Don't tell me about my God.
God might have put me here to do the shit
is all scared to do.
He put me here to appreciate all the tithes.
My job, laugh if you want to.
Oh, no.
That's your job?
God might want, Carlos, appreciate all the tithis.
Even the ones that look like sweet potatoes and dog ears.
Yeah.
Dog.
How's that going to help, though?
How's that too?
You don't know what I do.
Dog ears.
Did it look like dog ears?
Get your boys.
Get your boys.
Get your boys, man.
Hunting dog ears.
Oh.
Get your boy, man.
Cut your dog.
All right.
A hound dog here.
That's a hound dog.
Yeah.
Because everybody ain't in light, you got this.
Niggas.
Just to be niggas.
This niggas smoke these blunts and drink up some of this liquor.
Goodness.
Boy.
You still got to help.
You still got to help.
You still got to help.
You got to help.
You got to do it.
Shit.
If it wasn't for some of the devils, we're God with nowhere there.
I didn't know whether I'm in.
Shit.
I had to do some of the devil's work first for some experience.
You had to do it first, right?
God damn, I had to do something for God to work on.
I didn't want to show up in my shape.
Perfect.
He's going to rebuild me anyway.
Why would I show up in good shape?
How I'm going to know I'll like liquor if I'll never drink none?
How will stop smoking weed?
I never start.
This ain't anymore work, yo.
Don't know.
Shut up.
This ain't the intimate work.
That's an illusion.
How I'm going to reach the people if I ain't never been one?
How are you going to be after you?
I can tell the young man.
They stop rolling them bloods in front of it.
I ain't never wrong nothing.
How are you going to be abstinent?
How am I'm going to be asking if I don't know what I'm missing?
You're doing that.
Come on.
You're doing it.
How I'm abstain if I'm out here being consistently.
They didn't got me drunk off this love in the streets.
I'm drunk in love with the love in the street.
The streets showing me so much love, I forgot God's love.
You forgot.
You got some of the street.
Where you think that love?
Where you think that love the streets came from?
God!
He put it somewhere where I can get raped to it.
I got you.
He put it on my level.
Yeah, man.
I know God loved me.
He got you.
You come.
He didn't brought me to do too many times.
You want to God's favorite people.
God fucks with you.
I seen that nigga turn 40, $42.
I woke up that nigga was counting words and fives and all types of shit.
This nigga won every denomination.
Had a stack of tens all way up to a hill.
I said, boy, you're using.
This denomination.
Boy.
That's the deal with him.
That niggins would gamble on anything, bro.
That nigga gambling on Monopoly one night with real money.
Boy, walk everything.
Come on now.
You ain't no time.
God be all up in this trap, for real.
I do know that.
All up in him.
I know that.
I know that.
I think religious people don't think God ain't in that God.
It ain't know where he's not.
Come on, man.
He part of it, he gets on.
He ain't know where he not.
Yes, up.
Ain't know where he not.
We be taking them everywhere we go.
No care.
I already know.
He lead us.
He already there?
Yeah, he'd be waiting for me?
Oh, yeah.
He'd be waiting for you?
Oh, he'd be waiting for me.
The little stuff just be laid out when I'm there.
Yeah.
You can't wait.
I go out there.
Give him your tendererone.
It's crazy.
Yeah.
Huh?
I mean, your test to roast.
No, it's a testimonial.
Tetrazine.
Tell him about your testosterone.
Tell him about your testosterone.
All right, hey, he's coming.
We always kicking mad flavors in here.
We always so much love to God.
Yeah, yeah.
It wouldn't be me if I didn't ask the hard questions, though.
It's dope that you came, though, for real, and.
Yeah, a lot of people don't come.
Yeah.
We try to get Yolanda Adams in their mom-in-lawful.
We just, yeah, we're just trying to get a lot of people in here.
Word.
Yeah, man.
They got to kick that, they got to kick that, that,
in this environment.
Yeah.
Because it's a lot of people that we touch, you know what I'm saying?
Yeah, and I got love.
I ain't worrying about nothing.
I ain't worrying about, uh, uh,
representing God in an environment, like, how could you,
it's like, yo, I got love for you.
You better, because I represent them.
Yeah.
Full front.
Yeah.
We don't.
We don't.
He was just talking.
All right now.
I feel it.
The enemy is not welcome here.
Not to Tom.
Not 10 times.
You hit me?
My ride, my staff.
I'm gonna tell some people like, I'm like,
yo, y'all got to go.
Y'all got to do 85 south, man.
I did it.
That's some cool brothers, man.
Yeah, I appreciate it.
Yes, sir.
You got one to your left that's going, you know what I mean,
make sure the partner.
keep going yeah well I'm gonna make sure I ask you know oh my god got me wrapped
tight though in a little fluffy ball a blessing
flippin ball god got me wrapped in a starter coat of blessed uh-huh I'm a
scorn cat is a blessing I even got a blessing all in my glove
exactly but he got me wrapped in a in a little fluffy ball and a little fluffy ball
It's a little fluffy ball.
Yeah.
That's how it happened, though.
When I first went out, like I said, the President Vita thing, and I first went out and all that, that's what I, that's the person who I ran into, like, real people who didn't go to my church and didn't, you know, respond to God like me and all that.
And I had to learn how to communicate to everybody in love and not like, oh, you're not just part of mind.
You're a warrior, brother.
Word up.
Yes, sir.
Yeah.
You're doing this work now, because like you said, you got to come down here and be with the people too.
Yeah, yeah, man.
I love y'all, man.
I love this.
I want to come to one of them closer.
Ooh, yeah.
They're gonna be lit.
Ooh, all the way.
That'll be lit.
Energy start to finish.
I love what I do, man.
Hey, that's fun.
At the end of the day, people are inspired,
they got some hope, they got some faith.
What's the name of the new album again?
Do All Things New.
Grab it.
All things new.
All things new.
Go grab me.
All platform.
Go grab me.
man, go grab it, all things.
Hey, you ain't just got to listen to gospel
in the morning, people.
Right.
Be at nighttime.
Yeah, man, but you can listen to it,
whatever.
You feel the urge, you know what I'm not allowed me
to change it from no gospel.
That had no album.
I wasn't allowed to smoke you nor for no.
What?
You even look like you.
What you doing?
Nah.
Don't take that radio pole.
Man, what?
She'd be flashing it.
That how I know they,
uh, eh.
Oh, Rance Allen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You hit them those good.
I thought that was the auto to the mic.
No, brother.
I do the other purpose.
Okay, okay.
I appreciate you for stopping by though, brother.
Of course, man.
What do you want to ask me about the drums or something?
Oh, no.
They said, you said, I think he was on cab on stage thing.
I might be wrong.
Oh my goodness.
This man said he's the dude to play the piano on Crimea River.
river, right? That ain't you?
Yes.
Yeah.
You know, really sit here and do all that argument that ain't even telling me about that before.
And then he reacted like he didn't do it.
I thought we're about that, what they say?
What they say?
I was saying all that talk about to say.
You ain't even saying that all that argument.
Well, listen, God did create dirt.
But people were dirty before it was dirt.
Dirt don't hurt.
And dirt don't hurt unless you get on your shirt.
They ain't got to make it work.
That's hard.
Yeah.
Oh, no, yeah.
We was in the Rooke studio, and Timberlin was in there just rocking beats.
And me and my homies was just playing, playing.
And I was on the electric piano, call the Whirletzer.
And I was like, do, do, do, do.
Over the one of the beats, do, do.
Oh, keep that going, folks.
I was like, okay.
Do do, do.
Yo, then the whole song just started coming together.
Yo, it was crazy.
And I brought my group in.
We on there, Cryming.
Yeah.
That's y'all.
Yeah, that's me.
You called the hole.
You said, I made a hole in this.
He said, oh.
He said, oh.
He said, oh, no, don't know.
Justin might have said.
He said, crap.
I mean, man.
You did.
You're ready.
You're waiting.
You see?
You know, you slipped in here.
He called me.
He said, oh.
He said.
He said, if you listen to my,
it's vocal.
If you listen to the,
to the,
just raw audio.
Yeah.
All that part.
We said that, and I paid it on there.
I got like $200 on that thing.
$200?
No, I got $2,000.
I'm about to say.
You got more than that.
I should.
That's all.
Without that.
Yeah, that's how to business goes sometime.
I ain't mad at it.
No.
I'm saying that's how I go sometime.
If you don't negotiate stuff before and you don't know what you're doing it.
And I'm 20 years old.
I'm 20 years old.
Fuck up.
Got you.
Yeah.
Waiting out see just.
Where'd you see him, man?
I don't know.
I'm just telling him.
Hey, that's Timberlin.
Timberton was the producer of that.
That's my boy.
Timberton.
Yeah, that's my boy.
That's my boy.
I ain't mad at him.
I'm trying to do a versus.
Facts.
Ooh, yeah.
Get you in there.
Who you want to see?
You and Kirk?
I would love to do one with Kurt.
You're putting it out there right now.
I ain't got as many hits as him,
but I would just love to do it.
I don't know.
That just be so energy.
Their energy, right?
That should be crazy.
Have he ever shared the stage with me?
Like, yeah, someone that were, like, on the same caliber.
Is him?
You know how, like, you know how that be with artists.
They don't want to, they try to take it away from them.
You know how that is.
You know, we see it all the time.
You know, I don't know what you're talking about.
I know, I feel it.
I don't know what you're talking about.
It'd be like that for Gospel, too.
What?
You're going to feel about congregations.
What?
They said gospel music has gotten too radical.
That's crazy.
It's going too far.
That's crazy.
It would be like that too, especially on their hair.
That would be crazy, though.
I would love that.
Uh-oh.
Sound like we got to get a gospel exploding for real.
Right.
Aversive, type of treatment, catfrey.
How y'all fay going to be with that?
Y'all can't be looking gangster?
I can't be gangster?
Yeah.
What?
They both go have that instead of the head boxing.
Why are we got?
I don't know, man.
That's just
Something
Like so is
What is in here?
Hold on, hold on
Okay, let me ask you
Go ahead
What you want to have
Don't forget
You said why we got
The praying hands
Brough
What could be some new
Bible signals
That we
Like an signal
That we can put
On the chain
There's got to be something
There ain't nobody
Got a chain
With a iced out
Noah's Ark on there
Not even
Low Yada
And that's a vote
Fact
You might be on
Or something
That's fact
You get a whole
Well you get a whole
well, you get TV Johnny to make you a big whale,
make it look like the B&Me shark,
but then you got the iced out Jonah in there.
And he's sitting in there reading the Bible.
Okay.
I'm gonna give me a lion's den.
And is the lions going to come out?
There's too much.
I love it, y'all know.
With the head.
But Dave, he's sitting there with like his hand on his chin.
It's too much.
That's too much.
That's too much.
It is.
Or a fiery furnace.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The burning bush?
Now, that's fine.
That's fine.
That's fine.
That's five.
I'm going to get me a lion coat.
You're talking about lying in the last shot?
The mouth's going to be said right on my head.
He wanted to walk a lion in the last show.
Yeah, he did.
He did say that.
And I'm going to get that motherfucker and I'm going to sit the mouth right here on my head.
And you're going to be walking around, just eating by lying all that.
I'm going to walk around my house with the line.
But I wonder when Samson went to go cut his head like, his barber's like, you're serious, really?
Who is Samson's barber?
Yo, let me ask you this.
I know a lot of people think a lot of church people are judgmental,
which a lot of them are.
Right.
Is the streets judgmental of...
No, the streets got way more respect for the church
than the church actually will acknowledge.
That's why it seemed like it's judgmental.
If you see your pastor...
Because I'm saying, like, street niggas respect the church.
You get what I'm saying?
They're like, they're going to do street nigger shit.
But even if a motherfucker's standing out there and they're smoking,
And then like, oh, hold up, bro, that goes on church folk.
You feel him?
Like, it's a lot more respected in that aspect.
I mean, if your pastor is out there drinking and stuff like that.
If you saw your pastor have a glass of something on,
when you see your pastor at a club celebrating something like that,
how is that view by the streets?
It depends on.
My father's seeing me sell cocaine, so I don't want to do you.
It depends.
The pastor is drinking.
The pastor is.
I don't know that nigga get drunk.
No, it's the, it's the smell it when he's sweating.
It's the hip.
critical side of it that would make it like
if this pastor one of them
who tried to like condemn you for that
giving him to his church
or being there every Sunday or the church
man. But if this is a pastor
who respected in the community amongst
the grandmothers and the like you get
what I'm saying then it's just like
it's just like it ain't like you're going to turn on them
but it's like there ain't no way you're going to try to
outcast people and you out here living
it's almost like
I don't know when Obama and it was in office
and his kids wasn't on Facebook they wasn't
It's kind of like you can't be normal because you represent America.
Is that because America is judgmental and the kids can't go to parties?
It ain't that it's just a perception that when the pastor's up there preaching,
he doesn't relay the message that he is one of them.
So I have to give a lot of real life circumstances.
Black communities, we put certain people on pedestals.
Okay.
But if the pastor tell you, you're going to see me in the clothes.
I understand when you want a little Henderson.
I'm going to have a little Hiddison when I leave here.
You're not going to see me after three.
See what I'm saying?
After three, if you see me, that's the death.
I'm keeping the real.
Can I keep the real?
But till about 2.30, that was me.
Uh-huh.
I was on Facebook.
I said this thing.
I may have said this thing.
I may have said this thing.
But if they say if they were like bad,
I got you, man.
I got right.
You put it out there like you...
Like my pastor always relayed, like...
When he relayed the message, he put himself in the position.
And he's like, okay, let me tell you, I'm not telling you a little I'm perfect.
Yes, I don't want to help all y'all.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But my duty is to help all y'all.
You see what I'm saying?
So he's like, oh, when you see me helping, knowing that I'm going beneath me.
I'm going beyond me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm going beyond what I want to do because it's a purpose.
Yeah.
So that's Christian life.
That's living for God, period.
Fact.
Going beyond what I want to do for the greater purpose.
But I feel like it's just like in anything, though, you're going to get what you give out.
If you judgmental and you hypocritical, people are going to know that.
And they're going to know, even if it's not to everybody, they watch how you treat everybody.
It's a lot of people who ain't righteous.
There's a lot of people who are just what you call regular church folks who got the best intentions, who really, like you said, have.
taking their walk and know what their faith is
and, you know, really live by at least most of that.
But like you said, everybody going to live their life.
Period.
So they are our pleasants, not the judges, love them
and let them have their own journey.
You know, you can't be judging people
because you don't got no hell to put them in men.
I ain't learned that growing up.
It's not up to you to put people in hell.
I ain't know that growing up.
Yeah, the judgment.
I thought my passion was the bouncer at the,
The club heaven.
Really?
Yeah, to please them to get in.
Yeah.
You understand?
They scare people with religion.
Yeah.
The three years.
They scared.
Once you break out of all that realm and all that and be free and be like, you know what, I'm
going to do this journey for me, but I know there's a doctrine, because there's a manual
for everything.
So yeah, I understand how you feel, but once you realize what this book is talking about,
and you're going to seek the knowledge of other individuals who are
understand that's on that same page and y'all have these particular discourses so you can
enhance your knowledge on the book that's what you're going to do you want to reread this
not going to read it first time and get it yeah you're going to be reading this for the rest of your life
yeah there's going to be stories you ain't see it's a lot there's some stories in here you ain't
see the first time you read you're going to be like oh yeah oh yeah everything makes sense
hey that thing five that ain't really five read the first five book read the tutorial
It's alive.
It's alive and I think everybody know it.
You're about to get into action.
Jesus!
Oh, God!
You know, everybody, everybody know it when they're-
I'd be like, holy shit!
You're going to go.
But you still say holy.
Right.
Right.
You still say holy, you got, that's God.
You're going to bring.
He's going to come out.
You're going to come.
You know what I'm saying?
Don't worry about it.
He's going to be, he can't probably
about he a pastor.
Don't look at me like that.
You're talking about it.
Got it caught.
Word, word.
Can't wait to preach.
We'll wrap later on.
What do I see your handshake?
No, don't care.
You know, that pastor's shit
with you know, you're like,
y'all at different church.
Don't do it.
We're already in, you know,
Kevin boys in there.
You know, we're already in there.
Walking up for us.
You got your car.
Yeah.
I'm gonna be in there.
When you get there, you see me, I be like,
Ty, what's up, man?
You're gonna cry.
Oh, Jesus, Matt, though.
Yeah, I did in hell.
You're talking about?
I told you.
Yeah.
What?
Yeah.
Yeah.
What?
What?
Oh!
All they put in here, way different.
It's all good.
You live in.
Time.
Make yourself at home.
You're gonna start off.
You gotta stay on the west side of it.
on the west side of it doesn't.
I'm from the east side, though.
It's cheap over there, though.
You're just cheap over there.
We're on East Heavy.
You ain't ready to big business like that.
Prelegation, but the refrigerator is white.
Anyway.
It didn't get steven, bro.
No, that's real.
Word, man, I love it.
But just know that you welcome any time to come to the travel.
Thank you, John.
I'm talking about even if you want to just come and try out a new sermon.
Word.
want me to just be objective to this.
I need to hear your feedback on this.
Yeah, yeah.
I love it.
I'm gonna give you my number.
We can just kick past the business.
You know, talk about, you know, church functions.
Yeah.
I love it.
Thank you for the love, man.
Thank y'all for the love, man.
Thank y'all for the love.
No, we appreciate you.
What if you start hitting me for real?
I'm like, Loz, let me run these churches now.
You know I am.
You know I am.
Sister Agatha has decided to make oatmeal and cranberry.
Cranberry cookies
For the same.
Cranberry
Saints in the field of

in St. Louis.
We're taking a youth choir
to St. Louis.
St. Louis. We'll be
doing that fate
at the end of August
before the school stars back.
I get with Brother Clayton English, if you would like to discuss our travel package.
We still got a few travel packages available for the trip to St. Louis, amen.
Amen.

We've been going every Saturday.
I'd like to remind everyone if you have a Coke can, please give me.

The sisters are done sending up the food down upstairs.
So we're just going to end this one in the prayer today.
Brother J.O.N.
Did you give us something to let Brother Tyke take us away?
Yeah.
We would be remiss if we had him in the trap and we didn't at least let him lead our benediction.
You can also see Sister Agatha about further information for the trip to St.
Louis.
Louis.
Church, we got a special guest in the house with us today and like I said, we'd be remiss to not get a house.
few words from my good
pastor from down
and live church
that in Orlando
Florida.
If you come down
the main trip and you go past
that 7-11
and you hang that right
and you make that first left
and you come all the way
down the street.
Almost perfectly wrong.
You just see you.
Pastor, the triplet over there.
You got a lovely congregation
and some nice grass out there
front of that church also.
Nice neighborhood.
Okay. Nice neighborhood.
Property values going up.
Hold on to that property.
I know the devil's coming through there every week trying to get you to sell.
Every week?
Sell.
No, no problem.
Thank you, Lord.
Thank you, Lord.
Oh, Rose.
A lot of people lost out there.
I'm not going to take on too much more of your time.
I just want to leave you with a few words to live on something that you can maybe,
maybe take with you.
Uh-huh.
You can't hide from God
because he knows where you're at.
That's what he's going.
I said one more time for all the people in the back.
I said, you can't hide from God
because he's no way you at.
And he'll put that love
where you can get it.
Brother, Ty.
Come on, brother. I love that.
Talk your talk. I love it. I love it.
I love it.
Well, nobody's too far from God, man.
No matter what you do,
no matter what you've done, no matter what you plan on doing.
You're not too bad that God don't love you, man.
That's what I want everybody to know.
You can just get in your feelings and feel like, man, he ain't want nothing to do with me.
That's man.
He's not like, man.
He's God and he's loved.
And he just wants to draw close to you as you draw closer to him.
So however you do it, man, however you connect, you know, I used to grow up praying, oh God.
It ain't even like that.
It's like, man, I don't even know where to start, God.
But I want to talk to you.
You can be real with God.
You know what I mean?
He already knows your thoughts.
far off. You're not going to shock him with nothing trifling or nothing. You're not going to shock
him. He's not going to be surprised. You can't catch him off guard. He loves you just as you are.
He just wants you to get better. So just because he loves you as you are doesn't mean he wants
you to stay as you are, especially if it's dysfunctional. So may I receive the love of God y'all
by receiving it. Connect, pray. Let's do that right now, man. God, thank you. Just for bringing us all here.
85 South. Thank you for the entertainment that they bring to people, the smiles that they put on people's faces, the knowledge that they bring their people. Thank you for these brothers who committed to doing this to better our community, to bring some joy and laughter.
Laughter is good like a medicine. People can get off meds just listening to these brothers. So I'm grateful for what they do. I pray for each and every one of them right now that you increase them in every way, spiritually, physically,
financially, relationally, socially.
Just bring them increase, let your goodness overflow in their lives.
We're in a real world right now, having real issues.
But just prove yourself to be greater.
Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world.
And no weapon formed against us shall prosper.
We believe that, even though we don't feel it sometime.
We believe that even though we don't see it sometime.
We believe that, even though we don't understand everything,
We choose to believe it.
So I pray for everyone who's watching and who's listening,
that they will get a greater awareness of who you are so they can walk in their purpose.
We're sick of being confused, man.
Sick of being distraught, distressed.
We're sick of tired of being sick and tired.
You are the only real answer.
And by that I mean, if we seek you first, you will lead and guide us.
It's not just pray, but it's pray first.
it ain't just look to God
but it's look to him first
and when we look to you first
you then say hey do that
say this go there
do that
and as we obey those words
the steps of a good man
it's ordered by you
and we get better and better
each step lights up
each step lights up
and we just thank you
for your love for us
thank you for never letting us go
when we try to run from you
and do our own thing
we still hear that little voice
on the inside
you're still pulling on us
you still will
us. If we make our bed in hell, the Bible says, wow, you're there. Where can we go from
your presence? So help us to not try to run from your presence now. Help us to humble
ourselves and say, you know what, our way might be good to us, might feel good to us, might
seem good to us. But if it ain't lining up with you, man, give us the strength to align
ourselves with you. Because that's the best way for us to live is in you and in the spirit.
Bless us, bless the rest of the year,
bless our endeavors, bless our families, our loved ones.
Keep us all safe, the world is crazy,
but keep us all safe from hurt, harm, and danger.
And we'll acknowledge you more, we'll seek you more,
we'll do better in honoring you with our lives
and our commitments and our decisions as your spirit helps us.
Thank you for never leaving us alone.
Horrible to be by ourselves.
Thank you that we never have to be alone
because you're always with us.
Bless us and keep us in Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen.
Amen.
