Starting point is 00:01:18 that's just me. Perez Hilton. Drinking all the tea that goes on in this world. And with the way social media is, I just can't get enough. I'm obsessed. It's like every day something new and scandalous comes out and I want it all. I'm the OG of entertainment gossip. And if you are like me and have an unrelenting thirst for all the drama that's flying around,
Starting point is 00:01:45 you should listen to my podcast, The Perez Hilton Podcast, available wherever you get your podcasts. Recorded live at Corolla One Studios with Adam Corolla and board-certified physician and addiction medicine specialist, Dr. Drew Pinsky. You're listening to The Adam and Dr. Drew Show. Yeah, get it on. Get it on. Dr. Drew. Yeah, buddy. Physician mixing specialist.
Starting point is 00:02:17 I'm a mixing specialist, man. What's going on, man? Oh, well, you know, the world came to an end recently in Los Angeles. We had rain. Yeah. Just rain. Just rain. Well, there might have been wind somewhere.
Starting point is 00:02:31 I certainly didn't see it. A little bit of wind. Maybe. A little bit of rain. I really got victimized by this. By the press? Yes. Oh, dude.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Why? Okay, tell me. Well, it's by the press and then by others. Okay. Is it like your daughter freaking out about COVID? Yeah, I mean, yes, yes. We don't, okay, a million places. This happened to my wife, too.
Starting point is 00:03:01 No, but this is, okay, I'm up north. I'm at Pebble Beach. Yeah. And I have a condo in Malibu, and the skylight, the main skylight in the main sort of entry hall, stairs, blah, blah, blah, is busted. And it's not cracked. It has a hole in it. Ah. And blah, is busted. And it's not cracked. It has a hole in it.
Starting point is 00:03:29 And the hole is large. It's not pinprick. It's a chunk. It's literally. What happened? That's weird. It's an old skylight. It's a long story. But there is a piece missing that is approximately 10 inches wide by 13 inches long.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Like it's a big chunk. The size – It's not like a quarter. It's a foot. No, it's the size of the opening of a five-gallon bucket. Yes. It's gone. Yes.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Right? So I hear while I'm in the Bay Area or up at pebble beach i hear like on saturday oh there is a typhoon blowing in and i'm like i'm like wait a minute you know so the thing about malibu is malibu doesn't do a lot of bugs and flies and mosquitoes and stuff like that yeah you pretty much just kind of leave your window open at night. It's just not a lot. And it's always somewhere between 62 and 79 degrees. So the hole in the skylight, it's just not that pressing because it's never cold.
Starting point is 00:04:43 It's not hot. There's no bugs. How long has it been there? There's no security issue because it's on the roof. It had a crack for a while and then just semi-recently the piece popped off and is nowhere to be found. popped off and is nowhere to be found. And so I'm online trying to find like replacement covers, you know, and lots of talk about sizing and getting it repopped there, you know, whatever you do online. So I found a place and the place will make you one sort of that size.
Starting point is 00:05:26 It's 550 bucks or something and you could replace it, the flange isn't right so i have to kind of figure out how i'm going to attach it to the flange part but i leave on uh thursday sun shining you know ocean seagulls in the air sun everywhere nary a talk of anything and And anyone who knows Southern California, it doesn't rain in the middle of August. No, it rains in February. It just never. So I leave. And then, of course, on Saturday,
Starting point is 00:05:55 I have to hear stories about the typhoon bomb that's going to be landing in L.A. And there's nobody in the condo. There's nobody around. It's going to be landing in L.A. and and there's nobody in the condo. There's nobody around. It's just empty. And I got a huge hole in the roof and I'm in, you know, 350 miles away trying to drive cars, too. Right. Yeah. Well, no, I was just there as a spectator this year. So then they then I keep hearing Sunday night, Sunday night. This thing is is blowing hearing Sunday night, Sunday night, this thing is blowing in.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Sunday night, it's going to be a gale force, typhoon-type winds are going to be blowing. So me being my usual self, I'm like, well, we got to get home Sunday afternoon or something before the thing blows in. And then I'll just get up there with some plastic or something, try to figure something out. I wake up Sunday morning. Oh, it's on in LA. It's on in LA. I thought it was blowing in Sunday night.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Oh, no, it's on. That's what I keep hearing. It's on. So now I'm panicking. And I'm like calling my guys on a on a Sunday morning going you know wake up uh I need you to go over there and get up on the roof and blah blah blah because I'm picturing a typhoon he's hitting also a storm surge storm surge and I have this wide open hole the middle it's in the middle of the condo you know it's gonna flood and i'm starting
Starting point is 00:07:25 to have thoughts about like insurance and stuff now like what are we gonna do um i get uh hold roberto thank god wake him up you know he's gotta head over with the plastic and the home depot and the whole nine yards um then we're driving in uh last from Pebble Beach, and it's kind of drizzling like the whole time, and nothing else is happening, and then just more sort of drizzle and more rain. It rained. Yeah, it rained. It rained. I mean, that's the most I will say.
Starting point is 00:08:01 I will say it rained, and there was some wind some of the time yeah in some places yes and that's all we got with this not the typhoon bomb and the storm surge and everything not to tie gale force winds all that bullshit they were at 10 15 miles an hour all i ever saw and the rain basically stopped early in the morning and now there's no rain there's nothing and there's nothing uh but they canceled school i have i've no school okay you were this if let me only you were a high school student now you'd be the happiest high school student on earth the best oh i my son didn't go his whole like ninth grade year and half of his tenth grade year. My son ostensibly didn't go to high school. And now they're trying to cut more days off him for rain.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Right. But let's – okay. What I'm saying to everybody is it rained for less than a day, and it just rained. It was not gale force winds, and it wasn't – It was not extraordinary rain either. It's just typical LA rain. Let me give you the Mason-Dixon line. I live way down PCH.
Starting point is 00:09:16 If it ever really rains, there is bulldozers out there trying to clean up PCH. You'll know if it rains in SoCal by whether PCH has lanes closed or the bulldozers are there trying to clean up pch okay you'll know if it rains in socal by whether pch has lanes closed or the bulldozers are out or whatever if you if not that then it didn't really rain i just drove right i drove home last night no but i was thinking about that this morning as i drove in because we have a hillside that comes down during real rains too and i thought to myself oh but it's usually like day three all right week-long rain that it starts to come in. Not one day of rain. That doesn't do anything ever. Except fill the river up for a minute.
Starting point is 00:09:50 I mean, it does, you know. That's why we have that big cement basin that we call the LA River for flash floods. So we don't have them anymore. For homeless people to sleep. Well, and that's the big problem. They can get washed away. And then, by the way, all their stool and pee now goes out in the ocean without sewage treatment. So that's going to be awesome.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Stand by for the warnings about the water, but no mention of why. Well, so now let's break down the game film here. Okay. First things. You closed all the schools in L.A. County for a non-event. Yes. It was a non-event. I woke up, I got my car, I drove down PCH,
Starting point is 00:10:29 I drove here on the freeway. The only thing that was missing was traffic. There was no traffic. People stayed home. There was no flooding on the freeway, no flooding on PCH, no landslides, no nothing. It was a non-event. So you closed schools.
Starting point is 00:10:42 All right, so now you have to kind of think to yourself, why? You know, what are the decisions? First off, who screamed louder than me over the last few years that teachers don't like going to their job? I was thinking about that. They don't like it. I was thinking that about you when they announced the school closure today? Yes. And the way you can tell by anybody not liking their job, anybody, first things first, once you remove pay. Now, when I did construction, you didn't get paid if you didn't show up.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Right. And when I did some certain forms of comedy pay you didn't get paid if you didn't show up well wouldn't that be interesting once you oh it's some of that interesting yeah you'd see a market change i mean that's changes people yep immediately right uh number number i mean what if i told roberto yesterday look you can go up on the roof and put the plastic down with the sandbags or not and get paid. Either way. Then who would deem it too dangerous to go up on the roof? Okay. So teachers do not like work, but it's no different than any other member of the sort of federal government. Like if you told TSA at LAX, you don't have to come in today, but you get paid, they'd all happily stay home. They're basically low paying, miserable
Starting point is 00:12:12 jobs or medium paying, miserable jobs. And people would rather get paid a full day to take a me day. It's sort of, of course. Of course. So now what are we dealing with? Well, what we're dealing with is two things, I believe. We communicate too easily. Ooh. And the communication too easily leads to some unexpected results. See, if I was canceling something with you, something social, whatever, back in the day, it was A. Well, back in the day, you'd find out I was canceling because I didn't show up.
Starting point is 00:12:53 You know what I mean? I couldn't get hold of you or I'd call you at home and your phone machine would answer because you'd already left for the restaurant. Before the phone machine. Or before the phone machine. Like, all right. But back in the day, you'd have to talk to somebody, and you'd have to go, you know, I'm not going to be able to make it to dinner tonight.
Starting point is 00:13:09 And then you would go, oh, me and Susan made reservations for four already. And then I'd go, I know. We brought out a special bottle of wine for you. We made guacamole. Now I just text you. Sorry, not going to be there. And I can say whatever I want in a text. You DM me on social media or something.
Starting point is 00:13:27 I just say, yeah, rolled my ankle, bronchitis, whatever. I just text you. It's easy. Yeah. When we were kids, if school was closing down, somebody needed to get the message out to a lot of people. Yeah. Overnight.
Starting point is 00:13:42 Yeah. I didn't know how they did it. By the way, you would find out the school was closed down because your kid went to school correct and got turned around and walked home that's what would happen right and then you would have also found out that the fucking school wasn't flooded and the roads weren't flooded and everything was dry and everything should have been open and you would have never tried to pull that shit off. Right? Right. And so, in other words, in your head as a ninth grader, you would have been like, hey, man, I'm just going to say the streets are flat.
Starting point is 00:14:11 I couldn't get out of the house. But you wake up, go outside, nothing. Right. You can't pull it off. They don't want to work. They pulled it off. They do want to get paid. Well, this is the problem then when you have this sort of big weaponized union.
Starting point is 00:14:26 LA Unified is unionized or weaponized, and they're just making proclamations, and that's that. Well, and in a weird way, it's like a business that can't make profit anymore because the union has sort of ground everything down. That's what's happening to the school system. You can't attract students now because they don't want to be a part of this or these parents that care don't want to be subjected to this. All right. Let me tell you about fast growing trees. Oh, man.

Starting point is 00:16:03 Get 15% off your entire order at fastgrowingtrees.com slash ads now to get 15 off your entire order get 15 off your entire order at fast growing trees.com slash ads you know you know i'm thinking of also is that now we're gonna get people go you don't care about somebody had a mudslide in their backyard and you're being insensitive yeah listen if you live in southern california and you're in a zone that gets into trouble in the rain you know you live there that's what you know you live in that kind of environment. And when it rains, things can happen. Not because there was a monsoon, not because there was a cyclone, because it rained. And, yeah, and then if it rained in the desert,
Starting point is 00:16:35 they don't have the big cement river that we all hate, you get flash floods. That's the way it is. And I'm sure there's a lot of people that got some shit from the rain. They took some hits. It rained. Look, a little experiment. The Glendale City School System is closed down.
Starting point is 00:16:55 But I'll tell you what's not closed down. The Glendale Home Depot. That's wide open. You can pull into the parking lot, get out of your car, walk into a dry warehouse, buy whatever you need, and push it back out to your car and load it up. If we're capable of that, then I'd say we're capable of keeping schools open. You know what's interesting? In the same city. Yes.
Starting point is 00:17:16 And there's this weird – we have this weird thing with – which if you do something for one – you got to do it for everybody. I'm guessing that – the the la unified goes all the way out into like victorville in the deserts and stuff and i'm guessing out there there might be some schools that needed to be closed and guess what they should have closed those schools not everybody else you know that's the weirdest thing that we do now it's like fucking weather it's just weather when do i when do i when do we become such pussies? When? I've been screaming about this for a long time. It's also, it's not just living in a kind of bubble. You have to really connect the dots now.
Starting point is 00:18:00 So what you have is you have people who are sort of hanging on to the levers of power. Right. Yes. And the way they get control is through fear. Yes. So COVID comes along and they go, oh, boy, I got a snap in action. What is it you wanted to do? You're not doing that anymore because it's too dangerous.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Because it's dangerous. It's dangerous. Dangerous. Because it's dangerous. It's dangerous, dangerous. What they're doing with everything. They? The people who are in power with the sort of compliant media is they go.
Starting point is 00:18:35 They're more than compliant. Yes. They're active participants. Active participants in line. They dig at its eyes. Yes. Yes. So they are basically doing this. They go, oh.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Then they tie it to climate change. Then also, once they tie it to climate change, now there's a bunch more rules that are going to be, you know, you got to get rid of the gas stove and the barbecues out. You know, a lot of a lot of that, a lot more power. A lot of that, a lot more power. And then they make it so by closing the schools. Yes, yes. So it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Yes. So they go, the biggest problem we have in this country is white supremacy. Well, there's not enough white supremacy to fulfill their promise.
Starting point is 00:19:26 So then they go find it. And that's when, you know, the ATF squad raids some preacher who's, you know, rural, whatever, who stood in front of an abortion clinic 20 feet from the door, you know what I mean? And then they film and see,
Starting point is 00:19:42 do you see what's going on? We had to close the schools. You see what happened? You don't think COVID was dangerous? Then why did we close the beaches? Why did we close the schools? That's my question. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:55 That's the whole point. And now they're going to steer it to climate change. Yes. Oh, clearly. And so. So any weather is an opportunity for this. Every fire, every rain, everything is an opportunity. And so now the pitch. And by the way, we're not saying it has nothing to do with climate.
Starting point is 00:20:12 We're saying the hysteria they're creating, these are opportunities for that. There was a marginal amount of rain yesterday. A marginal amount. Yeah. Can I tell you this? I drove from here, from Glendale, California, to Malibu on the beach at 10 o'clock last night. If this was anything close to anything that they described, you could not make it. No. There would be road closures.
Starting point is 00:20:47 And by the way, storm surge. Waze just took me the fastest way. It's not like I had to get off and go around something or anything. I just drove from here at 10 o'clock at night with the windshield wipers on slow. Well, let me just say that the part of that drive is right up against the ocean. So if there were a storm surge, that would amount. And the rest of it is driving along cliffs that come down routinely when it rains hard. Yes.
Starting point is 00:21:11 And none of that happened. No. And no trees. By the way, trees don't really come down. There was nothing. There was nothing but open freeways. No flooded freeways. No nothing.
Starting point is 00:21:20 Well, here's the other interesting chapter on this, which I flashback on your daughter freaking out about COVID and making you wear a mask and all that stuff my wife dealt with that with our entire family because she wanted to drive from orange county to pasadena on was it sunday morning sunday morning yeah and they were like you can't you can't drive hurricane you can't drive she's like, it's raining. I'm getting in the car. And by the way, our thing is on the beach, too, that she was driving from. No problem.
Starting point is 00:21:51 No waves. No nothing. No, I know. I mean, people are fielding calls all day from family members in Wisconsin asking if they're okay. Well, and then the earthquake. I mean, I forgot to tell you my house caved in to an earthquake. Oh, no, no. Wait, wait. I didn't feel it. That was the earthquake. okay. Well, and then the earthquake. I forgot to tell you my house caved in to the earthquake. Oh, no, no. Wait, wait.
Starting point is 00:22:05 I didn't feel it. That was the earthquake. Right. Ojai, this is the other thing that people have to recognize. The earthquake was in Ojai. It was centered in Ojai. And Ojai is the same distance from Pasadena and Los Angeles as Philadelphia is from New York City, guys.
Starting point is 00:22:23 That's the distance. Really? Philadelphia, New York is, guys, that's the distance. Really? Philadelphia, New York is Ojai to Pasadena. And if something happened in Philadelphia, do the streets empty in New York? Is that what happens? God, could you imagine if it snowed here? Kids would never go back to school. All right.
Starting point is 00:22:38 So you have Deer Spot, and I'll explain the perfect storm we're dealing with here. All right. Blinds Galore, of course, our friend. Let Blinds Galore make it easy to get the custom blinds and shades you want in your home. Check out BlindsGalore.com during their huge Labor Day sale, and let them know we sent you.
Starting point is 00:23:44 That's BlindsGLaw.com. They have these big sales and it's really, that's the time to hop in there. I just ordered five. Yeah. I mean, I don't even hesitate anymore. That's where I go to buy window coverings, period. Boom. So, the perfect storm. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:00 The perfect storm is agitate and frighten the citizens, especially the moms. Get the moms in the tent. Get them agitated and scared. Then people in power go, now I get to act. You need me. And I'm going to start shutting stuff down.
Starting point is 00:24:20 And by the way, anybody brings up anything contrary to me i will make sure they were stamped out yes we'll go after them canceled anyone who goes on twitter any such nonsense i will anyone pushes back like i push back against the la unified school district oh oh they're coming after me i'm gonna go after that uh then i will explain to them that there is a danger. The danger could be COVID. It could be an attack on our way of life. We're going to lose our democracy. Democracy's hanging. That's right.
Starting point is 00:24:57 In the balance. Oh, yes, of course. That's what we're voting on. That's right. I forgot about that one. Keeping our democracy. Yes. So all the people who are not going to vote for Gavin Newsom are against democracy.
Starting point is 00:25:08 Yes. Right. So it says the guy closes down every restaurant, every beach, and calls Ron DeSantis a dictator. Yes. But okay. Then get the news. Get the news to sell it. Scare the moms.
Starting point is 00:25:23 And then say, see, this is why you have to vote for me which is basically saying here's what they're running on now um look maybe we're not great at the border maybe we're not great with uh maybe not great with the taxes maybe we're not great for the economy and you know maybe oh sure gas costs 550 a gallon it used to cost 250 a gallon two years ago and we were energy independent stuff like that okay but yeah we are talking about the climate we're talking about your kids not being able to grow up in in a world where they don't have to wear a space suit or something we're talking about a democracy that's that's hanging yes in the balance so okay you. So, okay, you want a little
Starting point is 00:26:05 cheaper gas, you want a little less regulation, you want to stiffen up the border, this is all fine, but what about this? And that's what they're sort of, that's how they do it. Look at the shiny object over here. You know, there was another interesting thing we haven't talked about that happened yesterday
Starting point is 00:26:20 that Newsom, in his infinite wisdom again, declared a state of emergency before there was any damage or emergency there you go well who's in charge now he he there was nothing once you do the state of emergency then we don't get then the loyal subjects don't get to do anything without asking permission of the dictator why don't I'm so bewildered by this following piece. Why doesn't everybody feel like that? It's so odd to me. I think it's a combo between people not knowing and then-
Starting point is 00:27:00 Not knowing or liking it in some weird way. There is a like. There is a need it in a weird way. There is a like. Yeah. There is a need it in a weird way. That's like, that's not, what is that? It's trauma, I guess, or victim or what the hell? I don't know. You and I always talk about that. Like what part of this feels satisfying to you?
Starting point is 00:27:20 Well, they usually, let's think about it. They'll usually point at what? You don't care about other people? You don't care about the people with the mudslides you don't care you don't care that's what always comes back right no no that's all it's a problem i do care that's the problem i care what they're doing to you you don't care about the brown and black kids you want to reopen those schools that's right it's like guess who fell the furthest behind idiots you know what i mean like yeah you know you don't wear a mask out on the trail so you don't care you know what i mean like yeah you know you don't wear a mask out on
Starting point is 00:27:45 the trail so you don't care you know what i mean yeah i i don't know people have proven to be marvelously disappointing in a very short period of time that in the character department that we noticed that was at the beginning of covid that that became clear but why isn't it becoming clear to everybody now what they're doing like i asked you yesterday you called me said hey it was how's the weather i said let me look because i don't even know oh it's drizzling and and we and you said something about oh i'm hearing stories i said when are we going to stop everybody stop listening to the press about everything i it's all false it's all amplified it's all distorted it's all unreliable i did not know that it is now drifting into the realm of the weather so if what what i'm saying is is if you would have asked me a couple years ago
Starting point is 00:28:37 uh when you read the new york times and they're doing a story on trump or they're doing a story on covet i'd go i don't believe any of it yeah but they go but what if they're doing a story on Trump or they're doing a story on COVID, I'd go, I don't believe any of it. But they go, but what if they're reporting on the weather? I'd go, oh, well, yeah. How much could they distort that? They can report the weather, obviously, or if there's a maritime disaster or something, I would believe them on this vessel that got washed up in Nova Scotia or something.
Starting point is 00:29:01 Yeah, no, not that stuff. I just wouldn't believe them on anything to do with Hunter Biden's laptop or something like that or who Tucker Carlson really is or something. I wouldn't believe any of that. But, yeah, I would believe the weather. Now the weather's gone. Gone. It's crazy, right?
Starting point is 00:29:17 But the weather is not just the weather.
