Starting point is 00:02:50 Dr. Drew Pinsky. You're listening to the Adam and Dr. Drew show. Yeah. Get it on. Got to get on the chest. Get it on.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Dr. Sports, five, six, six, six, over there in New York city city get on get it on man what's going on saw you on gutfeld the other night i'll fire it up yeah buddy i that stuff
Starting point is 00:03:14 pisses me off i told you that was getting to me right to this business the language police have been i don't know why it doesn't make you pissed off you had to grow up with it you know and i sort of this this new thing where it's more important to call the the dude that murdered some poor nurse who was out jogging to i don't care what the f you call him to even worry about the language around that asshole is speaks volumes about who we are dealing with as the language police. Yes. Well, it's sort of like queers for Palestine. You know what I mean? It's like, no, I don't know what you mean. Keep going. I'm interested. Well, you people who are queers for Palestine or, you know, for the women's rights movement or Black Lives Matter or whatever it is, You do realize that there are people being slaughtered and raped all over the
Starting point is 00:04:10 place and stoned and thrown off buildings for being gay and stuff like that. But you're worried about some legislation out of Florida that says we can't read graphically gay books to toddlers. You know what I mean? that says we can't read graphically gay books to toddlers. You know what I mean? And so it all shows a gross and sort of wild misappropriation of energy. You know, like the entire. Also, they reveal themselves. Yes, they completely reveal themselves.
Starting point is 00:04:43 I see you. I see who you are with absolute clarity now. Thank you. Thank you for making it so clear. There's a bunch of gangs probably run by cartels that are stealing catalytic converters from middle class. I say middle class and poor people because rich people park their cars in a garage. In a closed space, yeah. Yes, a secured space.
Starting point is 00:05:07 We're talking about working folk who park their car in the street or the driveway, and they're getting their catalytic converter stolen, and you're going after Toyota. Right. And so there is no real difference between going after Toyota versus going after these gangs who are stealing
Starting point is 00:05:26 catalytic converters and arguing over illegal immigrant versus illegal migrant versus guest to the United States. You know, there's it's all kind of the same discussion. You know, China has destroyed the world with their virus that escaped from their lab. And we're yelling at people for calling it the Chinese virus. Right, right. But it's all the same. It is the same.
Starting point is 00:05:57 But help me. Help me with something. Because the Toyota thing is the same. The Chinese virus is the same. thing is the same the chinese virus is the same and and yet it didn't have the same clarity that the murderer had which was you know when you go the chinese virus they go oh no no it came from a wet market you go wait a minute wait immediately you're on your heels like wait a minute you're saying it's less racist to say they eat animals in a wet market than and hold on wait what's that you immediately get into a quagmire usually this is no this was clarity man clarity i see it i see you good for you you are shitheads
Starting point is 00:06:33 you are clearly shitheads well to me it's um more the news anchor asking the question and less the aged politician who's is trying to backpedal and save some face with some base some base that doesn't really exist in the sense that really all started with pelosi she came out with it straight away and i I was like, okay, I see you. But they're making a miscalculation. It's like, listen, most Americans do not care that much about the trans movement. They just don't. They care about gas prices and meat prices and egg prices and things of that nature and a secure border. They just don't care that much about the trans movement. But you guys want to talk about the trans movement the whole time.
Starting point is 00:07:33 And most Americans are worried about illegals or undocumented or guest workers or whatever murdering citizens. We're not that caught up in the nomenclature. And however, hold on, somehow you've listened to 4% of your base that is up in arms. There's 4% of your base that doesn't really care that a chick was murdered, but is pretty upset that the president used the word illegal. And you're're gonna cater to them or the trans movement or whatever it is or climate or whatever is that the base
Starting point is 00:08:11 that the very small minority of your radical base cares about which is kind of insane oh but but in the it's the reason this was some sort of what I want to examine why this was such a dividing line for me, why the clarity came through. It's kind of interesting. And and before I'd always be like a little back on my heels, like, oh, no, no, they're not comfortable. I want them to be comfortable. What is it now? How you just get confused. This was there was no confusion about this.
Starting point is 00:08:43 This was, hey, you are hey your president used language that was fine and you want to make an issue of it around an a murder of an innocent woman and you don't give a fuck about the woman okay got it the other thing and emmy can find the clip probably if he can hear me i don't know if he can hear me but he's he'll find that clip of biden with the news reporter um it's also really telling because he did an exchange and in that sort of impromptu exchange he did two things he flubbed the girl's name, the murder victim's name. He flubbed her name. And then moments later, maybe 10 seconds later, he used the term illegal. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:36 So there were technically two flubs in there. The reporter that interviewed him was not interested in him flubbing the girl's name which is very telling oh absolutely he it's part of the same theme i'm bringing right he wanted to make he wanted to make a meal out of him saying illegal now if biden were savvy and i and i sort of think all politicians should should do this which they they never do and they always have to pile on like during the speech itself biden said something weird he's like yeah yeah but many many other people are murdered by legals yeah yeah or or illegals i didn't know he said yes there yes yeah joe yes it is it is true that there are people who are in this country legally who also commit murder.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Yeah. That can't be prevented by a stout border. That's not what we're talking about. But I'm glad you wove that in, that other people get murdered. I do love non-points, number one. Number two, he, since there's 44 years of footage of him saying illegal alien, illegal alien, illegal alien all through the 70s, 80s, 90s, up 2000s, you know what I'm saying? Illegal alien. And it was said ubiquitously throughout the land as everyone said it. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:11:16 And it's basically this is equivalent. This is equivalent of me calling X Twitter. It's like it's all we said for years and years and years and now it's x and i just said twitter so shoot me do you know what i mean like this is what we did so yes i slipped up but it's only because i've said it i've been on the day of saying this for 44 years right and 10 minutes ago you guys said we couldn't do it. Right. And I noticed this back in medical school, actually
Starting point is 00:11:50 in medical training, when there was a weird pronunciation of words. Skeletal. Skeletal. Remember that? No, I only remember it from you. Yeah. And it changed again, like, after and and i and it changed again like after my residency
Starting point is 00:12:06 so it's almost like every generation needs to put it rub its own stink on everything one of the ways to do it i one of the ways all i'm saying is there's something semi-natural about it at least i can tell you um i can tell you since i I had a front row seat to it with my grandmother, the word correctors are always narcissists. Yes, yes, yes. It's basically like you're in trial and you're saying, this guy, Stephen Johnson, murdered his girlfriend in cold blood. And they go, it's Stephan Johnson. Oh, my God. Excuse me. Stephan Johnson.
Starting point is 00:13:00 Please refer to my client's name correctly. Stephan Johnson. And you go, oh, well, I was told it was Steve. It's Stefan. And now you're arguing about something else. Do you know what I'm saying? Don't call me Tara. God damn it.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Right. We were, we're trying to talk about something, which is your performance or you hurt somebody or you murdered somebody or whatever it is. But we're not arguing about that anymore. or you murdered somebody or whatever it is, but we're not arguing about that anymore. We're arguing over the fact that you said Hispanic instead of Latinx, and now we're arguing about that. So it's what the people who don't have an argument do.
Starting point is 00:13:36 They love getting caught up in the, you know, it was always, you know, it was always, I noticed that during COVID, like, people would get up in front of the city council, right? And they'd get the microphone and they'd go, now you have 60 seconds. And they'd go, my daughter has special needs and you shut the schools down. And she's languishing at home. And they go, sir, pull your mask up, please.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Mask up. And then the person would be like, huh? Yeah. Anyway, my daughter, because of you people, closing schools is now languishing. Sir, your mask, mask, sir, mask, pull the mask up. And now all of a sudden, what are we doing? Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:14:16 There is thousands of hours of like angry parents addressing city councils and school boards where they're just being yelled at to pull their mask up yeah yeah yeah well interesting right is there but think about that connection between language policing and mass policing yeah right yeah same impulse right and so and so i want you to help me uh i i want to understand the policers uh because your mom was one and i and i always ask you my grandmother was a big my grandmother was a big police the worst the worst the worst your mom was one of them she was certainly a convert but your mom was a a car
Starting point is 00:15:00 a sergeant at arms in the policing world uh and, and I, and I, we know how narcissistic she was. We know that for sure. And so there's no longer any conversation about this, not yes or no narcissistic impulse. It's a narcissistic impulse. I got it, but, but I don't understand it. It's excesses. Maybe I don't understand how we, how we end up here. It's, it's sort of mysterious to me.
Starting point is 00:15:26 It really is. You know, it's so funny. Just apropos of nothing, I was having a conversation with a friend of mine on the phone the other day. And he said, geez, I don't get what's going on with California. We get George Gascon back. We do? I think he's going to get reelected or whatever.ed whatever oh my god i think we can look it up i know unbelievable well emmy can look that one up uh i mean that's because that there you go we got to get out of there hold on i know he goes
Starting point is 00:15:57 but that's not my point he goes um then he's talking about adam Schiff, right? Oh, now the Biden interview is nine minutes long. That's more like it. Yeah. We don't want the whole thing. Quiet, Drew. Now, listen, we're looking for 40 seconds, Emmy, where he's being asked about the name or asked about using the word illegal.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Illegal. Okay. But anyway, my friend, and he goes, he goes, Adam Schiff looks like he's going to win again. And I'll tell you, I just voted for the other guy. I just voted for Steve Harvey.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Steve Garvey. That's correct. I thought you said Steve Harvey. I did say Steve Harvey. Okay. Because you said Steve Harvey. I did say Steve Harvey. Because he said Steve Harvey. So I didn't say anything because I realized he just screwed up. He knows he's not talking about the
Starting point is 00:16:56 game show host, Steve Harvey. You know what I mean? So then he goes, I'll tell you what, I don't know who even know who Steve Harvey is. I know he's a baseball player, but that's all I know. But I voted for him anyway. And I said, all right, he did it again.
Starting point is 00:17:11 But I still know he's not talking about Steve Harvey. Right, right. So I just let it go. He did it five times. And then on the fifth time, I just literally said, I said, Matt, I wasn't going to say anything because I don't like when people do. I know you know you're not talking about Steve Harvey, but now you've said it five times. And I'm just going to step in and say that it is Steve Garvey, in fact, and not Steve Harvey.
Starting point is 00:17:38 And then he immediately went, oh, yeah, yeah, no, right. Sorry, screwed up. But the point is, is I didn't want to correct him yeah and i wasn't going to correct him because i knew what he was saying yeah uh but the fifth time he said it i was worried he was going to say it to other people well that's i i by the way i'm sitting here examining my own behavior going why did i do that and i thought oh because we're on a public thing here i don't want people to think we're voting for Steve Harvey or that this man wrote in Steve Harvey or something. Right, right.

We'll play the first clip of him just up there in front of the State of the Union where he's just screwing it up. But again, the part to listen to,
Starting point is 00:19:28 the part where he screws up the victim's name, I don't really care about. He's old. No one brings up that it's the name of an interesting coach, a football coach for USC. Oh, it's been brought up. But nobody really brings it up. I almost brought it up on Gutfeld.
Starting point is 00:19:45 I've heard it brought up. I bet nobody really brings it up. I almost brought it up on Gutfeld. I've heard it brought up a few times. They don't dig into the history, but they do bring it up. I'm aware of it because somebody's brought it up more than once. But it's more the part where he talks about legals
Starting point is 00:20:01 or illegals causing thousands of deaths. Again, I don't know what his point is. The point is, is if this person was not let into the country, then Lake and Riley would be alive. It's not, are there other murderers who were born in the United States? I think that's understood, right? I think. Okay, here it is.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Wait a minute. I'd be a winner not really. I... ... ... ... ...
Starting point is 00:20:38 Lincoln Riley, an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal. That's right. But how many thousands of people being killed by legal to her parents? I say, all right, goes out to you. I don't know. What's his point? Like, OK, it's one more, but it's just one.
Starting point is 00:21:02 Yeah. You know what I mean? What about the rest of the dead people yeah here what about the people that died in the titanic i mean that wasn't you know that wasn't because of illegals was it uh i do love the hard-hitting questions from the from the news establishment when they're asking him about what about using that word like it's not why did this person not get deported the first time they got arrested that's not the question and uh what's up with screwing up his uh what's up with screwing up
Starting point is 00:21:38 the woman who was murdered's name no it's it's it. All right, we'll watch it. Sorry. But during your response to her heckling of you, you used the word illegal when talking about the man who allegedly killed Lakin Riley. An undocumented person. And I shouldn't have used illegal. It's undocumented. And look, when I spoke about the difference between Trump and me, one of the things I talked about on the border was the way he talks about vermin, the way he talks about these people polluting the blood. I talked about what I'm not going to do, what I won't do. I'm not going to treat any of these people with disrespect. All right, hold on.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Pause it there for a second. You can treat people that viciously murder nursing students who jog with disrespect. Right. You know, I'm not going to murder nursing students who jog with disrespect. Right. You know, I'm not going to treat any of these people with disrespect. Well, I would argue that incarcerating somebody for their lifetime is possibly treating them with disrespect. How about that, Drew? It's all such weird and crazy lip service.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Like, I'm not going to treat, you know, it's like, you just go look. There are people who come into this country illegally, and the majority of those people are looking for work, and they pay their bills, and they take care of their kids. But some of those people are murderers, and those people need to be taken care of, and those people shouldn't be treated with respect. Right. That's right right it's pretty easy it's so transparently political it's sort of gross
Starting point is 00:23:11 the gross part is when he's like those people built let me run it back five seconds but that's what i was responding to also hey those of us that are your parents are your great your grandparents are immigrants, right? Yeah. Yeah. Find out from your dad how they what they had to go through to get in this country. I mean, Italians did not have an easy go of it. Trust me, the Ukrainian Jews were not.
Starting point is 00:23:38 They were interested in having them here. What I don't get also. Hey, news reporter, reporter, ask some follow-up questions. What do you mean those people built the country? You're talking about illegals built the country or immigrants built the country? Yeah, but legal immigrants built the country, not those, not illegal immigrants. All right, we'll run it back five seconds. I'll give it a shot.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Any of these people with disrespect, look, they built the country. The reason our economy is growing, we have to control the border and more orderly flow, but I don't share with you at all. So you regret using that word? Yes. Just so we can exonerate you. We exonerate you. Now, you've got a birthday coming up wow what happened to the news man yeah and by the way why do you have to control the border if those people are just coming over to build the country i don't yeah we uh you know yeah
Starting point is 00:24:38 it needs to be orderly but let's say let's increase it yeah whatever yeah so we get our country wire down so they can really get in. Come on now, you're hurting them. I've, you know, I've had politicians in the past where I've went, eh, I don't see eye to eye with this guy or I don't, whatever. But I've never had a sort of disdain mixed with a, I don't even know what the fuck this guy's talking about half the time like like i really you know i you know i i wasn't a big but it's probably not him though it's probably people coaching him up you know what i mean and no but he's free forming it there when he's talking about building the country and he's talking about baggage handling claims you want a little more room and you see
Starting point is 00:25:31 it's a i gotta look at emmy and laugh it's like every every single trip i go on it's like first class yeah how much 3 300 bucks,300. Not going to do it. What's business? $1,800. Maybe. What's coach? Coach is $275. Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:56 What's coach plus? That's an extra $55. What do you get on coach plus? I think you get four inches of knee room and they put you by the exit window, the exit hatch there. That's every discussion. It's never like Emmy books tickets and then the price shows up.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Oh, what is this? What is this extra $50 for? It reminds me of the price I just love that thing. I just love that exchange. You get an extra, they charge you an extra $50 for knee room, but you don't know that exchange you get an extra charge an extra 50 for knee room but you don't know it till you get to get on the plane it's like you don't know it who who doesn't know
Starting point is 00:26:34 it who books okay i don't know the check cashers the check cashing places reminds me of that you're like what why is that an issue oh yeah that's gavin newsom well that was his number one issue check cashing and homeless but but it's interesting how this left seizes on these things they seize on these weird i don't know what do i know you buy a bag of funyuns there used to be 22 funyuns in a bag of Funyuns. There used to be 22 Funyuns in a bag of Funyuns, and now there's 19 Funyuns in a bag of Funyuns. Yeah, okay. All right, anyway, gas is $5.50 a gallon, Joe, in California. Can we peck away at that one a little bit?
Starting point is 00:27:20 What about the Funyuns? Fun size, that's nothing fun about it. That's a small Snickers bar. I don't, I'm very intrigued. I'm sort of beyond, I'm floating into the zone. I'm not angry anymore. I'm floating into a zone of amused and intrigued. I'm floating into a zone of amused and intrigued.
Starting point is 00:27:50 You want to get up there and make a speech about knee room on an airplane that nobody, nobody ever experienced what it is that you're saying. Yeah. Nobody. There's nobody who watches this and goes, oh, man, I remember that time. I got the extra knee room, but I didn't know it. And then it turned out I paid for it. There's no, there's not, again, there's not a human being who's experienced what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:28:16 I mean, it's like when AOC goes, these people, this, yes, they're robbing. This is a mother with three children who wants a loaf of bread. It's like no one's ever experienced that, AOC. No one has ever seen it. We see mobs at the Apple store. We don't see single moms at the Panera. No one's ever seen a Panera having their bread basket looted. It doesn't exist. You know, Gavin Newsom,
Starting point is 00:28:48 the true face of homelessness, a mother with a full-time job who just got divorced. No, that no one's ever seen it. It doesn't exist. Why is this a talking point? You know what I mean? Yes. Your job is to take an angle and kind of stretch it out a little bit, but you can't pick angles that don't exist. Do you know what I'm saying? Well, they do, which is weird.
Starting point is 00:29:17 It's really weird. Adult behavior. Yeah. For me. Like I said last night on, or the other night on Gutfeld was the, I did a little dive into George Orwell's, you know, sort of rhetoric on language policing. And he's got a lot of stuff on that. But one of the things I didn't realize that he was aiming at was colonizers. He was saying that colonizers use language policing as a way of getting control of the colonies so the very people that have
Starting point is 00:29:45 framed the world as colonizers and colonies they're using the same technique of the people they hate the most so okay well done yeah it's really um and the kind of the question is, I always I always get back to. Saying, like, well, what's the problem? You know what I mean? Now, now I'm saying that what your grandmother would think about this. Jesus, the problem isn't Biden or the politicians or whatever, because they are going to do what they're going to do. It's kind of weird and sad that they do it. And if we didn't, if our people didn't respond to it,
Starting point is 00:30:29 they wouldn't do it. Right. So somebody must be responding to it. I don't, I don't listen when, when he's talking about extra knee room and service charges and stuff. I don't know that anyone. They're just confusing. They're confusing extra luggage fees and they just got confused about how it works. So they don't fly. They don't fly with the rest of us. So just got confused about how it works. They don't fly. They don't fly with the rest of us.
Starting point is 00:30:47 So they got confused about where the fees come in. You've got to find that clip again, Emmy, because it's befuddling to me. The question is, why aren't normal people just going, I don't know what the fuck you're talking about? Which should be everyone's universal right or left side of the aisle. That should be your number one answer to these proclamations, which is I don't know. You know, when comedian Orny Adams was doing my show several months ago and the head of the Soccer Federation of Spain was being was being ousted because he planted a celebratory kiss on one of the players. I was yelling, who cares? Who cares? Who cares? And Orny was saying, look, if she feels like a victim, then that's her prerogative. And I was yelling at him. You're
Starting point is 00:31:37 the problem because everyone needs to stand up and go, what the fuck are you talking about? Well, that's very much like the language stuff. Yes. Yes. All right. We have the clip, which is great. All right. Here it is.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Decision. Some airlines, if you want six more inches between you and the seat in front, you pay more money. But you don't know it until you purchase your ticket. Look, folks, these are junk fees. They're unfair and they hit marginalized Americans, the hardest, especially low-income folks and people of color. And people of color. All right, so there's a lot to unpack there.
Starting point is 00:32:17 You're acutely aware of the extra. First off, he goes, some airlines charge extra. No, all airlines charge. Every airline charges for extra knee room because just like any restaurant, some restaurants charge extra for shrimp cocktails and appetizers. Not some, all. All because you're getting something extra. And by the way, the thing you're seeking on an airplane is space.
