Drew Pinsky you're listening to the Adam and dr. Drew Pinsky. You're listening to the Adam and Dr. Drew show. Yeah, get it on. Got the... Dr. Drew's board certified citizen. All right, so what we're talking about was eighth place on the podium. Now, if I had my druthers, I would instruct my child, if they came in anywhere past third, to leave.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Yeah, or if they want to support their peers that won. Oh, and stand out in the crowd and applaud for them. You're right. And certainly my son, who came in eighth place, we could just go home, you know what I mean? But we weren't because there was a medal ceremony for coming in eighth place. And then I said, I disagree with this, and I don't think there was a medal ceremony for coming in eighth place and then I said I
Starting point is 00:03:07 Disagree with this and I don't think it's a good thing and then all of society would look at me as if I was a bad Person. Yeah. Well, they disagree they'd have uncomfortable feelings about yes I know not not a bad person that might do harm to others But I just mean what's wrong with me, you know? And another instance during T-ball famously, no, listen, here's the thing. If you're too young to pitch a ball or hit a ball or whatever, that's fine.
Starting point is 00:03:38 You don't need to invent a non-sport so that they can play a sport that they can't play. You know what I mean? Well, let's drain the pool so we can have the toddlers play water polo. It's like, now they've got to learn to swim and then they could play water polo. Yeah. They're too young. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Let them get older, then they could play baseball. Yeah. Anyway, you know, Sonny hits the ball, maybe hits the tee. I don't know, the thing falls forward. They throw it over everyone's head. You have to yell at everyone to keep running. They stop at first base. All they did was throw the ball over the place and he gets this inside the park home run.
Starting point is 00:04:14 But it was because the other team was five-year-olds and they were inept. Then we're leaving, it's like, well, we gotta get the home run ball. Oh boy. I said, no, we don't need any home run ball, and it's like my wife is like what do you mean? Sonny's home run ball. I'm like No, that's it's not a home run. I
Starting point is 00:04:34 Had home run balls there were balls that went over a fence Unfortunately later. I had to use them So we couldn't even my you know how stupid and cheap my family was? Yes, I do. All they, just buying me a ball would have just kept me engaged and out of the house the entire day, every summer day, and they still didn't, they wouldn't buy a ball.
Starting point is 00:04:59 But I would repurpose three or five home run balls from Little League, I would just use them eventually. It started with good intention. You'd write the date on it and go, there's your home run ball. At some point, you didn't have baseball and it was summer and no one was getting them. No one had one and my dad wasn't going to buy three of them or something and bring them back. So we just go get the home run ball. But, yeah, Sonny had a home run ball.
Starting point is 00:05:28 And I was explaining, he didn't hit a home run, he doesn't need a home run ball, and I don't know what he's gonna do with it, but, and also we shouldn't fool him into thinking he's good at something he's not good at by giving him a reward. That's the problem. Right, and then I become the bad person in the equation, which I disagree with.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Agreed. Let's kind of, we got to dig into that a little bit. So in the historical context, so this is like almost 20 years ago, this was normative parenting, this kind of nonsense. This is all normative parenting. Well, here, can I say this? Yeah. This is normative parenting on the side of the patriarch. This is the father's normative parenting. Now, stifle yourself there, Jerry. I'm listening. I'm trying to understand this. Go.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Dad would say, you came in eighth place, I'm firing up the station way. We're going home Yeah, mom would go but Bert they're having them out that get in the car woman and they would leave That's how it worked Right and then at some point but but that was also the time when dinner was waiting for him because he worked all day And paid for all the groceries and the mortgage Okay, we decided at some point that the women not only deserved a vote, they deserved the lion's share of the votes.
Starting point is 00:06:53 They needed to be satiated, otherwise things were gonna be uncomfortable in the home. You know what I mean? So then we moved into the space where a lot of guys did a lot of stuff they disagreed with, but it's like, I don't want to get the fucking old lady upset, you know? I don't want to deal with this. So then I, with the other sane dads would stand by and watch my son get a medal pinned on him for coming in eighth place
Starting point is 00:07:24 and wait for the home run ball to be retrieved from the ball bag. Conscientious objector. By the way, there's no version of this for women. Like, you know what I mean? They act like it all the time. But really, what are you getting them to do that they just disagree with and don't want to do? How did COVID go? You know what I mean? I announced that Purell was bullshit. I announced that Mass were bullshit. I announced that putting gloves on... Good luck! Did you think everyone just in my home just adopted because I pay for everything? It's just, oh, well, he's... He's in charge.
Starting point is 00:07:55 ...keeping the lights on around here, so I guess we gotta do what he says. No, they yelled at me to take my shoes off before I came into the house. They're resentful of you. Oh, of course. But that's the new piece, is that, hey, old man, who do you think you are? Yeah, I'm the guy with wisdom who pays for everything. That's who I am. Well, that just pisses them off.
Starting point is 00:08:14 I get it, but what I'm saying is- But what do we do with that? Well, we're fucked, because they somehow decided they knew the best way to do everything, and they're not yielding results is what I'm saying. Ours are tried and true. This is what gets results. This is how it works. You're just the gym coach saying, climb the rope.
Starting point is 00:08:38 That's how you get results. And I know that to be true. And I am here to ask for forgiveness or express my guilt at having been part of the problem. Not just in the sense that I was cosigning that stuff, but I'm such a moderate, I would have been one of those people going, Adam, it's all right, let's see how bad, how much is it going to be a problem? Let have their, but, but I would argue now, now, uh, examining it, the solution level of this, I would argue for somebody like me, you have to find somebody with better, you have to find a source. You know what I mean? Like I, I would now know
Starting point is 00:09:20 if you said something and your instincts were strong, I'd go, okay, I got to listen to that. I would now know if you said something and your instincts were strong, I'd go, okay, I got to listen to that. 20 years ago I would have been like, maybe. But so, so maybe is, is one of the solutions to this is getting people with good instincts and listening to them. How do you find those people? How do we know where those people are other than, you know, sort of proof in the pudding? I mean, I guess we look at who, who. Okay. So we're fucked because we're fucked.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Well, who was in charge of COVID? Who was the expert? Who was the authority? Who was in charge of Los Angeles and COVID? Barbara Ferrer, some sociologist bitch with an axe of fucking grind who solutions about everything were just stay home. Yeah. So, but she's the authority. Yeah. So, don't listen to me if I'm trying to set some policy at my house about not dipping myself in
Starting point is 00:10:14 Purell or, you know, quarantining bags outside the house or whatever it is. If, don't look, Barbara Ferrer says to do it. Yeah. And she's the authority. Or the mayor, or the governor, or whoever. So now we have a lot of fucking dingbats in positions of authority. I mean, I was just, I don't know why, I gotta visit this. I sit, and I fantasize.
Starting point is 00:10:40 I was picturing, and remember that tape of, I think his name was Russell Simon from SoFi Stadium? Oh yeah, of course. I love it. The director of facilities, or something, facilities. Right, right, right. Now, he's the poster child for shitheads during COVID. Right, of course he is, but he's the authority. I know.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Right, and we all have to listen to him. But now you have to- Do we get the video? Should we watch? I'm just kidding. Yes, I wanna. Right. And we all have to listen to him. But now you have to... Do we get the video? Should we watch? I'm just kidding. Yes. I want to revisit it. Every year. Every year and often we got to revisit this guy and any opportunity to shit on him or to remember how ridiculous these people were. Right. But now we can see it through the lens of masks do nothing. Now it's now, now we can see it. At the time he came out with it, there were some dispute or some people go like, not outdoors, well never outdoors. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:32 By the way, I saw you had a great tweet this morning or maybe yesterday where you show an airport with people six feet distancing with masks on, 20 minutes later they're all packed into a plane together Yes, as though what did we do with those six feet distancing waiting in line to get on the plane? Here is is Russ Simon. What's this guy's name? Who's not wearing a mask? I have to you know what? It's funny when you won't go back and look at this stuff half the speeches You know when gavit newson was giving a speech about not wearing a mask, it's so fine, taking a picture with Magic Johnson, but then he had his mask in his hand.
Starting point is 00:12:11 But during the speech, he's not wearing a mask. Of course. Well, he really makes the mask up during meal, during bites. Between bites. Well, he is between bites. Between bites, he's speaking. Okay, let's just watch it. But by the way, if you ever were back, one thing that would drive me crazy
Starting point is 00:12:25 how Biden and Fauci would ceremoniously take their masks on and off. Like there was so much to it. But the thing about it is they would sit silently breathing through their nose with their mask on and then they'd go up to the dais and they'd pull it off to begin bloviating. It's like, does this, okay, let's just watch this blo,
Starting point is 00:12:46 again, this should be in the annals of stupidity. The protocols include a mandatory mask requirement in the stadium for everyone two years of older, regardless of their vaccination status. Hold on, hold on a second. First off, 10 seconds after everyone needs to be vaccinated and then we're gonna be fine, and then I don't care if you're vaccinated or not,
Starting point is 00:13:06 you can't come into work or I'm in danger because I'm vaccinated, but you're not vaccinated. So you're endangering me or you're vaccinated, but you need to wear your mask. Well, everyone should just pump the brakes collectively. That's what I'm saying. This is insane. You're not making any sense at all.
Starting point is 00:13:23 External locus of control, tell me to do something. You need to wear that seatbelt when you're outside the car. When you're inside the car, you don't need it as much. You know, it's like, does anyone stop and go, what? What, what are you saying? All right, here's here's Russ Simmons or Simon. Well, Russ likes sheep. I know. For everyone two and years of older,
Starting point is 00:13:41 regardless of their vaccination status required to wear a face covering in the stadium and the tailgate areas, except while actively eating and drinking. It doesn't mean buy a bucket of popcorn and eat it for two hours actively eating and drinking. We are onto you. We're on. Listen to people. Do you want this? How much of this do you want in your life? How much of nonsense? Of this guy telling you, I see you. I know what's in your heart, you black heart. Also, tailgating is nothing but eating and drinking. That's all tailgating is. There's no board games, there's no sitting in silence.
Starting point is 00:14:22 There's just eating and drinking. That's all you do at a tailgate, Russ. So to say you have to wear a mask when your tailgating is insane. At that point in the history of COVID, we knew for sure there had been two cases of outdoor transmission in the world. Right. And that was an unusual circumstance of somebody close contact All right, it does not happen. All right, so let's not listen to these assholes anymore and we they need to be ridiculed Early and often early and often. That's the way I roll make fun of all these people shame them into shutting the fuck up Well, because I don't want to hear Russ
Starting point is 00:15:02 Come up to the mic again and spew more bullshit because they are narcissists. They're particularly sensitive to shame Oh good, so so if you mock they're exposed to shame and they shrink they they get angry sometimes Hmm, and they may but just keep at it. Keep keep going. All right. Anyway, I know Got some messages from guys who work for this guy and they don't like him They like when I make fun of him. Thanks, Russ. Any more pearls of wisdom, Russ? Any other things you became an expert at 10 seconds ago? How could that guy be a good boss? He can't. He's a douche. Right. But also, here's what it would have taken. He would probably go, well, the city of LA mandated,
Starting point is 00:15:42 blah, blah, blah, in which case there's a way to enforce things and not really enforce things. And by the way, explain that I'm not getting off on doing it. It's like, I'm sorry, this is what the counties require me to do in order to open the stadium. Ultimately, what we really needed is telling them to fuck off. Like, they closed the beaches, but in Orange County,
Starting point is 00:16:02 the sheriff's like, I'm not closing the beaches. Dana Point, yeah. Dana Point and other parts in Orange County, the sheriff's like, I'm not closing the beaches. Dana Point, yeah. Dana Point and other parts of Orange County, I think. And they just said, look, you wanna close the beaches? Come close the beaches, I'm not doing it. And everyone just went to the beach. Yeah. That's kinda how life works.
Starting point is 00:16:15 By the way, that's where I went out to restaurants, was in Dana Point. Right. Go support Dana Point, everybody. They were the sanest city in America during COVID in the midst of the insanity of this thing. Well, if anyone needs to know, there's little patches of red cities amongst the blue wave
Starting point is 00:16:34 that is LA and California, and the little patches of the reddish cities tended to not be as insane as San Francisco or whomever Burghams back Let the record show I'm a dick the new animated series created by Adam Corolla and brought to you by the daily wire Featuring Alonzo Bowden. Hell. Yeah, he catch you doing something wrong. He took a screwdriver at you Megan Kelly getting into being an esports mom. It's like being a soccer mom. Who can stay in her pajamas? Kyle Dunnigan.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Mom, it's heated, does acupuncture, and can insult my competitors in 20 languages. Danny Trail. Sharing this moment with you makes killing all them guys worth it. Patrick Warburton. Real Men Stuff Feelings Down with Red Meat Cigarettes and Violence. And Roseanne Barr. Hello, Mr. Burcham. Let me flip the red and the blue. We, two days ago, had an election in France. I have been saying for a year and a half now, something is going... Two years, something is going on in France,
Starting point is 00:17:54 something is going on. I can see it. And lo and behold, Le Pen swept the entire country and Corsica and everything. She had a little trouble in Paris, shock, shock, but she swept everywhere else, her party and she. And there was quite a bit of movement in a similar direction in the EU Parliament, which Christine Anderson has been saying is gonna happen for quite some time as well. So things are shifting. I don't know if you're aware Macron then shut down his government and asked for new elections, which is interesting. My suspicion is it will just mobilize people further. Yeah, I mean, there's a very unfortunate dance that goes on and it's turned into a bit of a, sort of a dance now where people show up and they go,
Starting point is 00:18:50 we're gonna do these things, you know, that's the diet and exercise people, you know, and then the other people show up when they get in power and they go, now we're gonna undo these things. But the things that they're undoing are just sort of diet and exercise, just kind of, kind of, look, if you advertise the border's kind of porous, then a lot of people are going to pour into the border and we're going to have a problem with the border, so you can't really do that. But a lot of it is, I'll tell you what most of it is based on,
Starting point is 00:19:21 because I come from this group, at least on my mom's side, they have some sort of misbelief that people are generally good, will do the right thing when confronted with it, are challenged with it, and poor people are noble and decent people. They think that terrorists hate us because we bomb them, but if we stop bombing them then the terrorists would go away. Like we've created this thing and they have this sort of, it's that kind of community policing thing, you know what I mean? Like, look, we can't have patrol cars and armed guys in uniforms rolling into these communities
Starting point is 00:20:10 and agitating these people. And then that's why they lash out. What we need is ambassadors who understand because they don't want to commit crime, but we agitate them. You know what I mean? They kind of treat humans, and especially black people, like animals. You know, they kind of treat humans, and especially black people, like animals.
Starting point is 00:20:27 You know what I mean? Like the dog was scared of you, that's why it bit. You came in, you were menacing, and the dog bit. But the dog's not a bad dog, and the dog doesn't wanna bite you, but you scared it. Or he thought you were trying to hurt the owner when you hugged the owner.
Starting point is 00:20:43 And he lashed out. That's how they talk about poor people, black people, and Hispanics, essentially. Like animals, right? But they want to do the right thing, but we don't let them to do it right. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna take the police, we're gonna tell them to stand down,
Starting point is 00:20:58 we're gonna have some ambassadors, and then it turns into a shit job. I mean, they look at that, drug addicts and homeless, it's kind of the, you know, how much, first off, how much compassion and dignity talk do you want to hear when you're saying, these, this population, this homeless population, you know, they need to be treated with dignity.
Starting point is 00:21:24 The guy's got, he's out of his mind on fentanyl, he's got a load in his pants and he's sleeping on the street. What are you talking about? He needs discipline, he needs structure, he needs authority, he needs the fucking opposite of what you're talking about. So to save his life. To save his life. And potentially the young woman who runs the shop on Melrose that got stabbed, you know, because of the homeless guy, what I'm saying is, is your plan is the opposite of something that would work. And then it causes more of a problem. How do you think it makes me feel?
Starting point is 00:22:01 These are all illnesses that I know how to treat. It makes me feel? These are all illnesses that I know how to treat. It makes me insane. So now we have that, and now eventually, people get to their saturation point, then a new regime comes in, and then they start undoing all of that. And they do that for a little while, and then they get back into power and undo what was already done, and now the dance.
Starting point is 00:22:22 This has been going on for a long time. Yes. How many times? I've been saying forever, like how long? How long? When are we gonna get it together? The difference between now and back when we were younger is the results are more immediate now.
Starting point is 00:22:35 We're seeing the border, we're seeing homelessness, we're seeing criminality on the streets, or we're seeing it now. Maybe it's technology, but people are changing their minds faster. Now also there's a mobility that nobody, you know, if my mom and dad didn't like the way the wind was blowing in North Hollywood, it would have been, you know, 1977, it would have been tough shit. Yeah. Where are you going, Pops?
Starting point is 00:23:06 Right. How are you going to move to Texas or Florida? What are you going to do? Good luck getting a U-Haul. You don't have a credit card. You can't buy a baseball. You can't buy baseball. I mean, what are you going to do? You know what I mean? Apply for a business license in Texas or something. It's like, we just sat. Now, there's nobody who can't, you know, Matt Vandellier just moved to Texas, you know what I mean? Why? He doesn't have to get, wasn't rich, doesn't have relatives in Texas, you know, it's just like, we're moving. They can do it now. Pete Slauson It's good. It's one of our strengths is the 50 states and all the differences amongst them. and the fact that I was listening to an economist recently who was saying that
Starting point is 00:23:47 the most significant contribution we can, or investment we can make in young people is luggage. Yeah. Because you move where the opportunity is. That's how this country has really always thrived. All right, I got another subject off the subject here. And I can't figure this out, but maybe, maybe the kids will know it. There's all this talk about Caitlin Clark's
Starting point is 00:24:08 not making it to the Olympics, right? Yeah, I wanna understand this too. I'm glad you're bringing this up. I don't know what to make of this. I don't know what to make of it either, because is she good enough? Well, first off, I will say this. I watch, sparingly, but I will watch some women's basketball.
Starting point is 00:24:27 And they don't make, they don't make moves like the men. I'll say that for them. It's a little more pedestrian, the moves. But Caitlin Clark makes some moves. Like she does some step back with the three and put, you know, she does, she looks really skilled. There are others that are skilled as well, but I've taken note that, oh, that's, she's serious about it.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Like that's not, that's not a chess pass right at the three point stripe or whatever. She's got some skills. So she seems good enough, she seems good for the business of basketball. And I guess people are upset, but I don't know why. Why did she get leveled by that other player last week, too, that was confusing to me? By the way, if you want to know the difference between men and women, there was on full display there. When the one player just clocks Caitlin Clark and sort of a cheap shot and the
Starting point is 00:25:28 other team member kind of walks over and gives her a hand to get off the floor, the benches would have not just the benches, the staff would have come in too. There would have been a brawl if that happened on a male basketball team, don't you think? Probably, maybe. Maybe. Well, certainly. In a hockey game. In certain eras, yes, depending on the history with the two teams. Yeah, I suppose so.
Starting point is 00:25:53 That kind of stuff. But I don't know if she's not there because they don't want her there because she's not good enough, like couldn't help the team, although it seems like she could help the team. And then it seems like it would be good publicity. Yeah, she doesn't seem liked by team members of the other team anyway. Yeah, I think there's a certain racial component going on here.
Starting point is 00:26:17 Yeah, I wouldn't be... A component, it's a component, Drew. I don't think there's any way... Does anybody speak up about what's going on behind the scenes? Does anybody say that? I don't know, I mean, why isn't she on the USA? Is anybody going like, hey, I heard them talking in the locker room, they hate this bitch,
Starting point is 00:26:33 or anything, like what's going on? From what I've heard, it's the exact same people that caused that, that we just saw with the hip check. The same player, the coach of the US Olympic team, they're all just against her. But at the end of the day, they're all African American as well. So it seems like it's a race thing But that is just as bad as saying if they were all white and there was one black woman They were had her out. I go must be right. It's like, hmm. Let's let's think of let's think of I don't think it's as I don't
Starting point is 00:26:58 think it's as because The reverse sort of racism thing or whatever we're gonna call it now, I mean, what's DEI? You know what I mean? It's just sort of flipping the script, like, okay, your dad got the job because he's white, now you're gonna get the job because you're black.
Starting point is 00:27:16 That was 40 years ago, and now it's now. You know what I mean? And I don't, you know, people sort of gussy it up, but it's really what, kind of what you you're saying right? There's not much more It's only the justification for maintaining it if it was any issues with it. Well we have a Kamala Harris is the vice president because she's a black woman Okay, well that means there's some white woman or some white man that didn't get the didn't make the Olympic team Okay, so we're kind of okay with the premise of it, you know?
Starting point is 00:27:48 Although we don't call it racism, we just call it opportunity or whatever it is. I'm so in love with the whole Kamala Harris scenario. I love it, because I was driving in, listening to the radio, and it's like a lot of people, it's like they don't think Biden's gonna make it, you know what I mean? But then what?
Starting point is 00:28:04 Kamala Harris? And they go, well, they can't give it to Kamala Harris. Well, they can't take Biden's gonna make it, you know what I mean? But then what? Kamala Harris? And they go, well, they can't give it to Kamala Harris. Well, they can't take it away from Kamala Harris. She's the first black woman of, okay, you guys fucked yourselves so badly. It's so awesome. So awesome. And it didn't even take that long. It didn't take a few years.
Starting point is 00:28:20 I told them it was the worst idea ever, and here we are. So who votes for the Olympic team? That's the question, Emmy. See, if I'm trying to figure this out, because if it's selected, look. Can't you say this? Maybe she's a difficult person. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Maybe Caitlin is a really tough person to work with. Yeah, but by all accounts, Michael Jordan was pretty tough to work with. There's a lot of personalities in sports and you fucking get the best. But women's sports? It's going to be fun. I'd love to watch them all fight. But they could be less tall.
Starting point is 00:28:53 What I'm saying is this. Maybe. If the sports writers of America vote or the fans vote or something, then I would go, fine. They didn't get the votes. Yeah. vote or something then I would go, they didn't get the votes. You know what I mean? But if it's a six person panel, and I'd like to see what their history was,
Starting point is 00:29:12 but if it's a panel and they just decide, then maybe there is some tomfoolery going on here. Some shenanigans. Thank you for resurrecting that word. Yeah, brought back Tomfoolery. All right, and then, but there is also a thing that I don't think most people get. What's that?
Starting point is 00:29:36 Just trying to explain to a lot of peoples it pertains to race. It's the sort of, imagine how much harder Kamala Harris had to work to get where she is today because she's a woman of color. My thing is she's only here because she's a woman of color. It's exactly the opposite of what you think. And I was looking at Brittany Greiner, who was jailed by the Russians, right? And there's a lot of well, she's a lesbian. She's a black woman. So we don't care about her. No, no You have to get her out because of that There's a white reporter who works for the Wall Street Journal or whatever. He's just a heterosexual white dude
Starting point is 00:30:18 He's been in there the whole time there people that were Taken by the Russians before Brittany Greiner, they just didn't have any of those intersectional points, and they weren't gonna be a talking point for the Biden administration. So if you think about it, the worst position you could be in is having no intersectional value to the right administration who wants to make
Starting point is 00:30:44 a talking point out of you and being locked up. Now, the worst is you're going to be Derek Chauvin, right? You're going to be a cop with the video of your knee on the neck of a black man. Okay, you're done. You're getting murdered. No, no. But if the Ruskies put you in the gulag, you're not going anywhere either unless you have some sort of
Starting point is 00:31:05 bona fides that makes it important for them, for the news cycle to get you out. We have to remember what they did to get Brittney Greiner. Do you remember what they did to get her out? Oh yeah, they released like the merchant of death or whatever. Right, but that- Worst international- Terrorist, arms trader. You're making my point, which is that's, they wouldn't give that guy up to get the Wall Street Journal guy because he's just heterosexual white guy.
Starting point is 00:31:34 We're not getting anything from that. We don't value those guys. They're not of value to us. Can I say this? Shouldn't it just be tenure? You know what I mean? Like, I'm the president. We gotta trade the merchant of death
Starting point is 00:31:47 for somebody who's been in captivity over there in Russia. Okay, who was there the longest? Yeah, you would think. Maybe something like that. But there's a reason they haven't thought of that trade before. That's why the other guys have been sitting there. Right. It's not worth it to them.
Starting point is 00:32:04 Right, but for Brittany it is who made the team that's why I was looking at that all right the Olympic team I should say Las Vegas gonna be doing doing a live pod there that'll be tonight 730 Josh Wolf super funny Michael Yopi up on stage with me as well.
