Starting point is 00:00:00 Recorded live at Corolla 1 Studios with Adam Carolla and board-certified physician and addiction medicine specialist, Dr. Drew Pinsky. You're listening to The Adam and Dr. Drew Show. Yeah, get it on, got to get on. The judge is going to meant to get on. Doctors Board for a Csicestine to Specialist. Pow. Pow.
Starting point is 00:00:23 So, what's on your mind, sir? I got a bunch. Oh, I don't know. I have a slight obsession. Slite. This is going to be good. Well, a sort of an obsession with telling people what to do and telling them over and over and over and I pay them. So they're getting paid to do what I tell them to do.
Starting point is 00:00:42 I'm just wondering. They're not going to do it. I just wondering where they straight up sort of extreme obsession would be if that's a slight obsession. Well, I don't. You mentioned every day. Well, here's what I tell people all the time. I tell this to my ex-wife. It tells us to everyone.
Starting point is 00:00:55 I don't ever want to discuss these things ever again. But we're going to, if you cannot achieve this, and it's simple task. You know, so you take something like Mike August. So I had a long talk with Mike at the beginning of the year. And I said, Mike, I don't want another year of typos and dates wrong and wrong stuff on the internet on the dates for the shows and the stuff. So we're in July now. You're going to have to go to the website. our website, the club's the website, and you're going to have to check stuff.
Starting point is 00:01:30 I don't want the wrong, a lot of, like, there was like, I'll give you for, I'll give you an example. He's not the man for that job. I get it. He's in my end getting paid for that job, but there's no amount of convincing, you know. I go town to town. I do a strict hour of stand-up comedy, and it's good, and I'm enjoying it. There is an old description from like five years ago where it's like Adam, comes into town, doesn't have a joke, takes all the audience suggestions.
Starting point is 00:02:01 That's the description on some of the stand-up clubs. I then go, Mike, that's not what the... I don't want people buying a ticket to the show thinking that's what the show is. It's the opposite of that show. It's none of that. It's all pre-planned jokes. So go to the website, tell the guys at the club to switch it out, but, as previously discussed, go to the website and check it, would you please?
Starting point is 00:02:30 So we have a funny thing, which is I got a show coming up at Huntington Beach, sea lights at the beach, fun show, outdoor venue, it's cool. And the flyer, which got to us, says my name is spelled. Oh, right. Right. So we caught it. and Chuck sent a note to Mike to fix it, except for Chuck wasn't explicit.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Chuck just spelled, he just sent Mike a note with my name misspelled. Yes. Which I, now listen, I had a funny conversation with Chuck yesterday. Chuck claims he's free and clear now. Of what? Of any responsibility because he pointed it out. Right, right, right. I said to Chuck, for Mike August, that's not enough.
Starting point is 00:03:22 Right. That's not enough. You just know who you're talking to. You know your audience. My whole life. People try this shit all the time. I said to me, he didn't, you know, I go, you don't know who he is? You don't know he is.
Starting point is 00:03:35 It's on you. You got to know who he is. Yeah. Okay. Sadly, sadly. Mike first claimed he got no email from Chuck. It's still misspelled on the website and had a long conversation about going to the website and checking. Wow.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Before that, no, at the beginning of the year. I see, I see. But the point is this. It was sent to Mike. Mike. I like the way it's, look, what's comical is the Adam Corolla show insignia is on there as well as the misspelling of your name just below it. Oh, yes. It's spelled two different ways in.
Starting point is 00:04:17 one inch apart. Well, but do not, let's not, let's not underestimate people's ability to fuck up. Yeah. Can we do that, Drew? Yeah, I'm just trying to see who you look like in this doctored picture. You don't look like yourself. That's a picture of me. No, but it's doctored up in some way.
Starting point is 00:04:38 It's something, it's not right, right? What'd you guys do to it? The mouth, something's wrong with the mouth. We didn't make that, but yeah, it does look AI. Yeah. Well, wait a minute. That's a picture, but they did something. It looks like it was enhanced in AI.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Yeah, it's like your mouth is in your mouth. Oh, why do you do that if you just have a picture? To make it look better. That's what they'd imagine. Let me go closer. There's a. Hold on. Drew,
Starting point is 00:05:04 it's just a picture of me. We use it. You know, it's quite a bit different when you get closer on. This is you at your finest, Drew. I'm in the middle of making a point of talking about something. What's going on? AI? What's going on? Yes, let's have another discussion about nothing. All right. Now I'm getting... That's a picture that they use of me.
Starting point is 00:05:28 I understand. That looks like the picture they use of me. Yes. But you're... Hold on. You and Chuck think just the mouth was altered to look better. Is that what you think? I think they took a little... They do this thing, this brush when they put a picture up. So you think somebody... was thoughtful enough to try to shave a few wrinkles off my mouth or something, but misspell my name?
Starting point is 00:05:56 I think someone at the venue was given that headshot of you. And they just put, they threw that headshot into AI and said, make a flyer. Right. And then AI messed with your. Exactly. All right.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Now I'm going to go look. Why does AI need, I don't go away. I don't know why it does. It turns what they put it in. No? Anything? Yeah, I'll give you a little, a little bit on the map. Yeah, it's all I'm saying, a little bit.
Starting point is 00:06:28 I know, but, okay, Drew, your point is, what is your point? By the way, your point is that doesn't look like me. My answer is it looks exactly like me. At a distance, you start to look like somebody else. That's all I'm saying. It's no big deal. That's a big deal. Who does this look like?
Starting point is 00:06:45 Who does this person look like? You're looking at it now. Does it look like somebody? Anything I say, you're going to show. Now, tell him, Mark DeCarla. Well, who? So if I show this picture, if I show this picture to someone who's familiar with me, they'll go, who's that? No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:07:02 It's our picture. Yeah. Okay. I'm not sure what your point is. I really don't. It wasn't a point. Okay. Well, then be quiet if we're talking about, I'm trying to, this is you going, what's this over here?
Starting point is 00:07:17 I'm talking about something. We're talking about the flyer, but go ahead. Keep going. Yeah, we're talking. about the misspelling on the flyer. The picture just looks like me. I don't know, some AI or whatever, but I'm not, I have no quarrel with the picture since it's a picture that we use. And it looks like the picture we gave that. Fair enough. All right. Now we've got to find the real picture and see if AI did a little something to my mouth, but nothing else for some reason. That's
Starting point is 00:07:46 the question. All right, anyway, that might. So we sent him Nick sent him this flyer, sorry, not Nick, Chuck sent him this flyer and just wrote in bold my name the way they wrote it, which is on Chuck, because that's not nearly enough for Mike. Right. Mike said this never happened. No email, first of all. No email, which is always what he just does to get you to go away. I emailed Mike like Mike emails me, which is nothing in the actual email.
Starting point is 00:08:21 email just the description. It's true. It does that to me too. Yeah, just the header. Right. I get it. Which I don't mind. That's funny.
Starting point is 00:08:28 But by the way, I'm fine with that. If you just do the header and you just go, his name is misspelled on this flyer. And that's all it says in the header. That's enough. But you just wrote my name. That's not enough to make Mike. Mike doesn't have that kind of concentration level or he, whatever. So anyway, it's pattern recognition.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Yes. Mike says he never got. the email. Then, of course, Mike always says that about people who sent him an email clearly. Right. So then Mike, we found the email and Mike wrote back nice. That's what Mike wrote back. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:03 So. And then I had to call Mike and say, Mike, you wrote back nice to an email about being misspelled, but it was a little ambiguous. Fine, it's ambiguous. But you need to contact these people and tell them they've missed the flyers wrong. Yeah. That was a week ago. And as of today, it's still wrong.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Then I had to contact Mike again, and Mike was perturbed that they didn't change it. But then I had this conversation again with Mike. You must go to their website and make sure they changed it. That's what I keep saying. Everyone's a fuck up. I'm telling you, you know that. So that's why you need to go to their website. website, which is a long discussion we had at the beginning of the year, because I said,
Starting point is 00:09:54 I didn't want to do this. Today, we're supposed to have a guest in here, but it was the time got confused. They're on the East Coast. They said 10 a.m. They got up at 7 a.m. We didn't say Pacific Time, and that's on us. Now, I had no idea that this would be my adult life with computers, that people would do this as much as they do, but they do it a lot.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Later on... People shouldn't be afraid of AI taking their jobs. I was saying that... I was having the conversation with Chuck about know thy neighbor. I may have made that up. But what I'm saying is when Chuck was trying to work his way out of his involvement in this debacle, I said, no, no, Chuck, you know first-tank. who Mike August is.
Starting point is 00:10:51 So you must adapt and overcome. At that moment, Nick came in, and I said, Nick, the first show at Huntington, the first show, sorry, the early show, this Sunday at Torrance is sold out. So do not put that up there to plug. And then I said, Nick, you and I've had this conversation about checking the website and seeing if the show's sold out and not putting up on the plug six times. But I brought it up this time because I know who you are. You're the guy who gets to do this.
Starting point is 00:11:28 And then I said to Chuck, see how it works, baby? Now, it's sad that I think of you that way, but that's who you are pattern-wise. And now what do we have here? This is your picture again. And comedy on the beach, but look, pattern-wise, I'll give you the greatest pattern one. I'm not sure why we're looking at this, but pattern-wise... This is the current website.
Starting point is 00:12:01 They haven't changed it. Oh, they haven't changed it. Yeah, well, I figured there's no way they changed it. I don't care that much. I'll tell you what I care about, Drew. This is my kind of green Eminem's Van Halen kind of thing. I don't, I just care that nobody cares or that, no, here's where I care. I care about not being able to achieve super easy edicts.
Starting point is 00:12:25 You know what I mean? Like this is the most basic thing in the world. It was caught. It was pointed out in advance. Mike ignored it. Then it was caught again. Then I told Mike and then Mike told them and then they didn't change it. And then I told Mike to catch it again.
Starting point is 00:12:40 And I don't care that my name is misspelled. I spent that my whole life has been misspelled. I don't care. It's that we can't achieve simple things. I don't really care about plugging a show that's sold out. I care that I can't achieve that. Yeah. I care that I can have multiple, multiple conversations with people I employ,
Starting point is 00:13:02 and they can't achieve that. Yep. That's what I care about. Or at least I'm sort of more, and I'm sort of interested in it. I'm interested in how the young dudes work. but that is the new world order we're living in. And the world order we're living in is late people are late, and that's that.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Yeah. And there's all the discussion and all the begging and all the haranguing and all the cautionary tales. It doesn't really matter. That's just Mike August does what Mike August does. And he does a lot of good things. Yeah. But there's no talking him out of this. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:39 It's weird. Can't do it. And it's, and it's, but it's the same with going to the website. See if the show's sold out and stuff like that. It's just not really doable. When I think about it, it's kind of like changing people with addiction. They're having all kinds of horrible consequences. They do it over and over and over again until suddenly they go, oh, I got to change this.
Starting point is 00:14:03 And then they're willing to change. But they may go for years or maybe never get to that point where it gets through to them. All right. Some people change. Now we need to find the original photo. See if AI did something weird to my mouth. It's hard to tell. It's hard to tell.
Starting point is 00:14:22 I'd say not. So, Drew, you're a certain, you and Chuck were how wrong about this? It makes me wonder if, who did somebody do something in a picture? It's all I'm saying. It just looks a little not like you. That's all I'm saying. You look a little waxy. Yes?
Starting point is 00:14:41 I don't know, Drew. It's a picture of me that. just a picture of me. I don't know how it works. It's all. Just an observation. Just talking about. Nothing. Nothing special. Nothing. I'd rather we move on. I don't know why it's even a discussion. It's just a picture of me that we use.
Starting point is 00:15:01 It's several years old. It looks like me because that's what we use. Each of us is more wrong. Me for talking about the poster that we were talking about. It's you and fucking Chuck. It's you and fucking Chuck. It's Chuck agreeing with you for no fucking reason. And then me just having a picture of me that we use. Yeah. All right. But you're saying the something.
Starting point is 00:15:21 I've never seen that picture, by the way. So I mean, I've never seen the picture. It's just the one we use. Yeah. Okay, good. All right. But it needs to be, what should we do to it? Something's already been done to it.
Starting point is 00:15:31 What's been done to it? Like, like, that's this, something. I don't know what. I don't know. I'm not, I can't. Does anybody know whether or not there was any kind of, Photoshopping? Because usually there is, right? Yeah, I don't know. This is just from our archives.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Yeah. We photoshopped it from six years ago or whatever. No, no, no reason. No. What would you do? What was wrong with the Photoshop? Nothing wrong with it. What would you do? Nothing. It looks too waxy. Yeah, looks waxy. The skin color is a little not yours. And there's something, I don't know, something here. They expanded something in your jaw, which is good.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Looks good. They didn't touch the picture. Nobody photoshopped. Drew, there's no photoshopping in this picture. They didn't expand anything or change anything. There's just a picture from a photo shoot. So when people do photoshoops and they give you the photos, they never do any photoshopping? Yes, Drew, it's never been invented.
Starting point is 00:16:31 It's never happened. You're arguing like a fucking bitch now. You're arguing like a chick now. Happens every time. You just sound like a chick. You just argued like a chick. Okay. Yes, photoshopping happens.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Right. Every time. No, not every time. Pretty much every time. No, it does. There's a photo shoot from eight years ago. We just took the pictures and they put the pictures up. They don't Photoshop it.
Starting point is 00:16:53 For dudes, for comedians, they photoshopped. I mean, they might put makeup on you or something like that. And they might do some sort of evening out at the tonally or something. But I don't think you're talking about Photoshop. That's Photoshop. I was showing you. They have a kind of a painting thing they do, but I'm not interested. No, they're not, this is an old photo shoot.
Starting point is 00:17:17 Not interested. Okay, so, all right, so you're, but your assertion it was Photoshop. Well, did I use the wrong word by saying Photoshop? Maybe that's the, maybe that's the problem. I don't, I don't know. No, nobody did anything. Color adjusted, skin tone change. What, would I show you use different language?
Starting point is 00:17:36 I don't know. I just feel like I'm looking at a picture that looks like me from five years ago. I don't know why there's so much discussion about it. I don't know either. Drew doesn't know either. It is Chuck. Nobody knows. It's just stuff that happens.
Starting point is 00:17:52 Okay. I don't know. Maybe I have to find another picture from that photo shit. I'm not thinking it's a bad picture. It's a good picture. But now I don't want to talk about this fucking picture anymore. Why do you bring stuff up? I mean, first...
Starting point is 00:18:06 Okay. It's just a picture of me that we use. It's not been Photoshop. I'll have to go find the photographer and figure out what he did. We can do that. There are other pictures from that shit. All right. We'll take a break.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Get back to Dumbot, Drew, and Chuck. By the way, Chuck doesn't know what he's talking about. He's just disagreeing with me. He's not really doing anything. He's just kind of on autopilot. They may have just messed with the mouth a little bit. All right. Quick break.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Right back after this. Home serve. here's the thing about the home disasters that sneak up and bite you. Most of them costs more than a car repair. Homerspinsurff offers plans starting at $4.99 a month. So when something goes wrong, you're not scrambling. You just make one call. Regular homeowners insurance usually doesn't cover a lot of the day-to-day wear and tear stuff.
Starting point is 00:19:06 You could be on your own for plumbing failures, HVAC breakdowns, and electrical issues. Home serve makes it simple. Just pick a plan, and when something goes wrong, just call their 24-7 hotline to start the repair process. I've had plenty of pipes first, but now I don't panic. I just make a quick call to homeserve, and I'm good to go. Am I right, Chuck? Your next costly home repair is already coming. Act now and get protected with a plan through homeserve.
Starting point is 00:19:43 For 50% less your first year, go to homeserve.com slash ADS to find a plan that's right for you. That's homeserve.com slash ADS for 50% less. Savings compared to renewal price, Boyd in Florida. Hello, and welcome to Plutofo. If you knew the name of the movie you'd like to see, just stream it for free on Pluto TV. where all your blockbuster favorites are landing all summer long. Catch Anchorman, the legend of Ron Burgundy. Fantastic.
Starting point is 00:20:11 The Matrix trilogy. Welcome to the real world. Mean girls. Shut up. Titanic. I'm the king of the world. And so much more. For showtimes, press nothing.
Starting point is 00:20:21 They're free 24-7. That is so fetch. On Pluto TV. Stream now, pay never. All right. Now, Drew, yes. Unless you want to talk about pictures.
Starting point is 00:20:33 Okay. I do not want to talk. about. Sound like a chick with your arguments, man. That's true. I'm taking that in. Good. Take that in.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Take that chick argument in. All right. By the way, because the refuge of the damned when it comes to the argument is when they go, so you're saying no one has ever fill in the blank? That's always, that means you're out. You're out argument wise. Yes, I agree. That's a chick argument.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Yeah. Okay. Now. I watched Master and Commander. So good. The best. And the beginning had a warning. And the beginning had a warning.
Starting point is 00:21:16 You know, it has that, you know, it says it's, I don't know, 1801, ship to the line, blah, blah, blah. At the beginning it says contains tobacco depictions. Because they didn't have cigarettes back then. But they had to warn us that watching this gritty film where young boys are being having arms amputated and people being run through with cannonballs and run through with swords and so on and so forth. They had to warn us that there were going to be depictions of tobacco use in it, not cigarette use. Now, most everything else says cigarette use. But this is 1799. pre-cigarette, but these guys are sailors.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Yeah. And someone may have a pipe. Yeah. Or do they have smoke list? I don't remember it, but. Nah. As I was watching the film, the guy who played the doctor, seemed in one scene came out onto the deck smoking a tipperillo,
Starting point is 00:22:26 a little cigarettes, whatever they call those things. things. Paul Bettney, who was great in that, Andrew put that on the screen. He was like smoking a, what would have been a hand-rolled cigar cigarette kind of thing from back in the day. I feel like that film doesn't get enough accolade. Everyone who saw it, loves it. Yes, and I agree. Visuals, you know, and that was before, wasn't it before they had drones and things? Some of those visual pictures of the ship at sea from way up high.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Yes. Yeah, yeah. It's amazing. amazing, amazing movie. But as I looked at this, people are sort of like, well, who cares with the tobacco? And my thing is like, this is a big deal because this is the beginning of the end. This is when we started safety, safety, safety, everything, regulatory, everything, lawyers, everything. There's no reason on this planet why we needed a warning about tobacco.
Starting point is 00:23:28 use or depictions of tobacco use. None whatsoever. Somebody made a rule. Somebody followed that rule. Somebody caved to that rule. Somebody said, look, we need this, or we're not going to get that, or we have to fill this out, and that's going to be notarized or we're going to attorney, and we just start going down that road. I remember them trying to sort of shelve Pinocchio because there's a CNN Pleasure Island where he's smoking tobacco. Right, right. Cigars. But bigger picture, we declared a war on tobacco and vaping and turned a blind eye to fentanyl, heroin, weed, everything else.
Starting point is 00:24:17 We just, we said, we will hand out syringes to junkies on the street, but if you're standing on that street smoking a cigarette, you'll be cited. Yeah. I, you know what I'm convinced of, Drew? If they were taking somebody to the firing squad and that person wanted a last cigarette outdoors
Starting point is 00:24:42 at the firing squad, the state would not allow the cigarette. Am I right? I think that could well be right. It would in California. Now, we wouldn't have the firing squad, but if we did, you would not get that last cigarette. Think how crazy that is. That's where we're at. Safety,
Starting point is 00:24:58 Uber Alice, and I'm telling you people, these aren't little things. These are symbolic things. The vaping was just caught in the crossfire. It was, what do they call it, collateral damage. Because they became so focused on tobacco, they convinced themselves that nicotine is bad. And therefore, anything that has nicotine in it is as bad as tobacco. It's brain poison, bro. Brain poison.
Starting point is 00:25:19 You've seen the commercials. Oh, my God. You know, where like the 15-year-old, they vaped earlier in the day, and then they go to their room and their mom goes, honey, would you like a sound? You get out of here, you bitch! Because it poisoned my brain. Yeah, they need to smoke some weed instead to bring that down.
Starting point is 00:25:36 To mellow out the brain poison of the fake vape, stupid fucking tobacco nut jobs. This is true. It's all, it all falls under the same fucking umbrella. It's why we got butt-fucked by COVID. Same fucking
Starting point is 00:25:53 safety pussies everywhere. No, you're right. We didn't realize we were so far down the road. where they could just pull the trigger. Here's the nicotine commercial. Yeah, yeah. It's great. It's brain poison. Oh, serious music. Come on.
Starting point is 00:26:05 What can I do to help you? Come on, buddy. Headbound. What? Hey. Hey. Okay. I said I don't want to talk about it.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Wait, trade. What are you doing? You know, when someone gets some nicotine, how they spaz out? Learning difficulties. Okay. Brain poison. Oh, God. By the way, what are you talking about brain poison with nicotine?
Starting point is 00:26:34 There's zero. That means nothing. So these people, we give them money to run PSAs and shit, and then they just fucking lie about nothing. And then it scares dumb chicks who sit home and they go, oh, that's a big deal. Yeah, they invented third hand smoke. Somebody invented third hand smoke. So for the first time, however, Who's been yelling about this the entire time?
Starting point is 00:27:01 Oh. Well, you obviously, I'm thinking how many decades have been. Just me. Go ahead. Tell me how long I've been yelling at this shit. 30 years? Yes. And it somehow for me dovetails into all the shitty public service announcements.
Starting point is 00:27:15 That's what I'm saying. Yes, that's what I was yelling about. Airplane safety. McGruff the crime dog. Here's why. Here's what it is. There's shit. We can.
Starting point is 00:27:28 could do. With the money that we spend doing shit. We live in a world where nobody uses their turn signal. I can't fucking figure out what people are doing when they're like driving toward me or in the right lane. I don't know because no one
Starting point is 00:27:42 but we're running ads for brain poison that don't do anything that's neither here nor there. We're just fucking wasting time, money, resources. Sorry, go ahead. So Mayor of Donnie did do one thing
Starting point is 00:27:58 recently. I'm going to finish the thought about fentanyl and syringes. So syringe exchange programs were supposed to be exchanges where you bring your syringes in and you exchange them for new syringes. Well, that quickly got abandoned to just, we're to hand out needles. Right. Now there's needles fucking everywhere, right? All over the ground, all over the parks, or everything. Mdami is offering 20 cents per syringe to the drug addicts to bring them back. All right. That's good. That's motivation, right? human motivation. It keeps the aluminum cans off the ground. You're going to see the same guy collecting syringes, I guarantee it. But the downside is it's a $3 million plan, meaning that $2 million of it is going to be administration. Or maybe $2,500,000 is going to be administration.
Starting point is 00:28:45 So as usual, the government can't do anything right. But I just like the fact that motivation was being represented. Yeah. On the other hand, he has a economic head of his Economic Council, whose parents were Peruvian Marxist guerrillas. He's brand new, apparently, came up here as a Peruvian Marxist because there had been a, what did he call it? He used some damning word, a capitalist, a bad capitalist direction of Peru. So we had to come up here. To the United States. United States. Yeah. And Martha McCollum was interviewing this guy. She goes, why'd you come here? If capitalism is bad, why are you here?
Starting point is 00:29:31 Right. Of course, no answer. But he does want to eliminate the police, empty the prisons, do away with real estate. And his big thing was he's going to put through a constitutional amendment that doesn't allow anybody to make more than 10% on their capital investments. You know, I yesterday, Drew, went to a traitor Joe's. And I thought, Jesus Christ, you could never have this under their system. No. And Trader Joe's is, it's perfect.
Starting point is 00:30:07 It's a perfect metaphor for this system, which is tons of variety. I'm surprised at how inexpensive a lot of it is. Like when you look at a big old piece of fresh salmon and it's $8.75. It's like, Jesus Christ, this thing made it from Alaska to this shelf here in Pasadena and it's $8.75. And by the way, I can cook that shit up and eat for two or three days off of that piece of salmon. Get some rice for nickels and... Yeah, yeah. By the way, fuck everybody with these people don't have enough money to eat healthy.
Starting point is 00:30:48 fuck right off. Fuck off. That's bullshit. And all you're doing is sort of making apologies for stupid fat people. You can go to that Trader Joe's. You can get those eggs.
Starting point is 00:31:00 You can get that salmon. You can get that rice. You can get the beans. You can do whatever the fuck you want. Everything is like surprisingly inexpensive. And by the way, you can finish up with a $9 bottle of wine
Starting point is 00:31:15 or $11 bottle of vodka. Everything is. fairly, you can't believe that this thing got here for this price. It's clean. It's orderly. Everybody works there, works there because they want to work there. They get paid. What they get paid is between traitor fucking Joe's and them.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I don't know where the government's hand needs to get involved. I've said this a million times. What is this minimum wage living wage? don't know why it exists. It shouldn't exist. It exists in their retarded bent world, it exists, in Liz Warren's world, it exists so that McDonald's doesn't pay black employees a dollar an hour. That's why the government needs to be involved, because otherwise they would pay them slave wages, except for no one would work at McDonald's. Right. So these guys, choose to work at Trader Joe's. There's some sort of scale. There's managers and assistant managers
Starting point is 00:32:25 and the produce guy who's been there for 20 years. I imagine he's getting paid more than the guy's in the parking lot, collecting the carts and bringing the boxes in. Okay, everyone's walking through that place. Everyone is happy. It's totally efficient. It's clean and orderly. And they have everything. Efficient is the word, right? Yes. Yes. So how much of the government do we want involved with that process? And then what would the government do differently? And why is it necessary? So at its core, free markets are about creating efficiencies, right? More and more efficiencies. Because that's where your opportunity is. If you can make a more efficient product, there will be a market for it and there will be an audience for it. Yes.
Starting point is 00:33:13 Are you familiar with the old wealth of nations by Adam Smith? Not to bring up. I know the name. So he didn't actually coined the term Invisible Hand. He talked about how a butcher and the person buying the meat, they don't work together out of the goodness of their heart. The guy wants to buy the meat at the lowest possible price, and the butcher wants to sell the meat. And they arrive at a place that's most efficient. And somebody else coined the term,
Starting point is 00:33:41 then the Invisible Hand works to set the price. He also talks about, he describes a P-Corp, coat that a that a sailor's wearing on the wharf. And he goes, where do that? Wait, are there depictions of tobacco involved with this maritime situation? I think you have a pipe. I need a heads up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:03 And he talks about how that piquot wasn't made by one person. There was somebody shearing the sheep and then do work in the wool and then creating the textile and somebody had to produce the buttons and some. button special, put the buttons on. And all of that's in levels and levels of efficiency that make for the affordable p-coat that a sailor could afford and be able to wear. As soon, anything that the government does creates an inefficiency. Yes. They're the worst allocator of capital on earth. Nobody does it worse. Yes. And if they put their hand on the scale anywhere, you know, now I understand you want to make sure there are no monopolies and you want to try to
Starting point is 00:34:46 create level playing field and fairness. Yes, absolutely. It needs rules. The game needs rules. Then it needs to be played. The game must be played. Yes. But they don't want to do that.
Starting point is 00:34:59 They want to be in control of everything. Yeah, I get it. All I'm saying is, is why don't people go through a traitor Joe's and understand how miraculous it is? I think they assume there's a good person there doing good things on behalf of good people. You know what I mean? that there's somebody not needing to make profit? They have some fantasy about what that is.
Starting point is 00:35:21 They don't think about it at all. They don't think there's a good person. They don't have any thoughts. There's three different varieties of cherries you can buy. By the way, I stare at those cherries, and I'll tell you what I conclude right after this. For over 25 years, Bet Online has been one of the most trusted names in online sports and casino games.
Starting point is 00:35:46 And this year, it's all about soccer moments. As the world stops here, 48 nations and 104 matches, every one of them is a decision that is yours to make. BetOnline has all the live lines and player props on everything sportsbook and casino through the whole tournament. No limits. And when you are right, you get paid. No ceilings, no excuses.
Starting point is 00:36:07 26 is your year for the soccer championship. Bet on at BetOn. I stare at those goddamn cherries, Drew. and the best fruit in the world, the best, I don't care what anyone says, the rainier cherry. It is the best. Is that the sort of yellow and red one? It saddens me. I don't know which one that is.
Starting point is 00:36:30 Is it the yellow and red one? It saddens me. I'm sure. I know what's called. I know that's the yellow one. It's the yellow, the little red in it. It is so good. It is like the best fruit.
Starting point is 00:36:41 It has a firmness that the other tone has. Well, we'll also explain this. I'm not one of these, you know, conspiracy theorists, but I love summer fruit. I love apricots and I love nectarines and I love peaches and I do not buy any of them ever anymore because they all taste like shit. They suck. There's no more good apricots. I tried. They look good.
Starting point is 00:37:11 They do not taste like they used to taste. I think they've bred them out for size. Well, size and sort of ease of peel. No, no, it's not ease of peel. I mean, of opening, you know. No. That's returned. Well, the ones I remember used to smush more than that.
Starting point is 00:37:31 Well, they were out in the sun. Yeah, okay. No, they size and like durability. They want them to look good and they want to be able to be shipped without being bruised. I literally, my favorite fruits, nectarine. I don't buy them because they're so fucking disappointing now. And I got some apricots the other day just hadn't tried them in five years and bit into my first one. I was like, it tastes like shit. It looks great. Tastes like shit. Bois and berries are that way. A lot of the
Starting point is 00:38:01 summer fruit is gone. Shit taste department. Cherry's great. Canterloat. The melons are fine. Blueberries are good. Blueberries haven't changed. But the boys and berries. the raspberries, the nectarines, and the apricots, and the peaches are all gone. Now, Boisbury is an invented fruit. That's true. At Knott's Berry Farm. Nottsbury Farm. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:25 But here's the point. I'm sitting there at that Trader Joe's, and I'm looking at three different kinds of cherries, right? Yeah. And I love the rainier cherries. The rainier cherries are the most expensive. And you get the least in the container. because they're a lot better.
Starting point is 00:38:46 And then you look at the other one, the mid-sized one, and you get a few more cherries and a little cheaper price, and then there's the other one. And then you just sit there and go, well, this is life, isn't it? You want the good stuff? Good. They know what the good stuff is. You know what the good stuff is.
Starting point is 00:39:01 And guess what? It's reflected in the price. And then AOC would be like, why do these poor people of color have to pay more for the rainier? They're more popular. They taste better. It's a better product. People pay more.
Starting point is 00:39:16 I don't know. Why do people pay more to go see Sabrina Carpenter than they would to see a cover band at a bar? Right. Why? Why is the Taylor Swift tickets this much? How come the Super Bowl tickets are more than the preseason? Right. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Greater desire to see it? Greater demand. Do you want to force the NFL to charge pre-game, you know, preseason prices for the Super Bowl? Well, your mom and grandma wouldn't have any prices. I don't have any tickets at all. No, they want to be free. Or should they be free? And then how are we going to pay the players?
Starting point is 00:39:57 Like, this system works its way out perfectly as it is now. It's all in the Trader Joe's. It's all. You want the good stuff? You want the good cherries? It's two bucks more. You know how my brain works. I need to know why Reneer cherries are called Reneer Chairs.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Rainier. Yeah, Washington. Because then, is that why? Because they're from the Mount Rainier sort of region? Well, since cherries are grown in Washington state, I think. That would make sense. And Mount Rainier's there. Yep.
Starting point is 00:40:30 And I'm going to do a crazy math. I didn't know they were growing. Like if cherries were made. I didn't know cherries were grown in Washington. That's already news to me. I think you can pretty much, I think now you can grow everything everywhere, but Washington is kind of where they're front. Not right here.
Starting point is 00:40:44 There it is. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Well, now I will remember it. I bet I could quiz you on this in seven months. It could be. It's possible. It's a try.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Let's try. Yeah. Rainier chair is so fucking good. And here's the thing that's weird about me. I don't know if you know this, but I'm literally a millionaire. I was staring at the cherry offering and I was like, all right, you get one pack of rainier cherries. Those are $7.99. And then you get one packet of $5.99 because you're not going to get two of the rainier. What are you talking to? And I stood in front of it for a while and I was like,
Starting point is 00:41:24 Adam, that's $2. Yeah. It's $2. It's $2 different. You said it wrong. It's $2. I said, fuck that. I got two rainier. I got two rainier packages. How do you like me now, girl? Big spender. That's right. I don't know if I've told this story. on this show. I probably heard because I'm so taken with it, but it's a story about John D. Rockefeller. Have you guys heard me tell this story? No.
Starting point is 00:41:47 Okay. John D. We haven't heard the story, by the way. What? We've got to hear the story to tell you. Yeah, okay. You've heard me. I've told you.
Starting point is 00:41:55 I must have. Tell the story. John D. Rockefeller, of course, very wealthy oil tycoon. Jack's never heard of. Keep going. Okay. He had a driver, and he would go to work every day,
Starting point is 00:42:07 and when he arrived to work, he'd give him a $5 tip. This driver loved Mr. Rockefeller, worked for him his whole life. And later, he started driving his son also. And the son would always give him a $20 tip. Some years later, the driver retires. And he still loves Mr. Rockefeller, the senior Rockefeller. They're good friends.
Starting point is 00:42:29 He's retiring. And the driver says to John D. Rockefeller, Mr. Rockefeller, no offense by this. We're dear friends. I have no resentments. I just, I'm just curious. If you could help me understand, I've noticed that you always gave me a $5 tip at the end of the day, and I appreciate that very much. But then your son always gives me a $20 tip.
Starting point is 00:42:53 And without taking a beat, John Rockefeller goes, his dad had money. Yeah. Then that's money. That's financial psychology, right? Yep. The other thing I noticed in terms of something I've been talking about for a long time, I noticed it on the ride in. There's a woman where nobody formally was.
Starting point is 00:43:16 There's little things. I said stuff like street vending stuff is a big, big symbolic issue. People don't seem to care, but it means it's an indicator that your town is going under. But what it's an indicator of, which is an L.A. thing, it is free needles for junkies. but if you light up a cigarette in the middle of Central Park, you will be arrested. Right. Right. So it's very stringent enforcement for sort of taxpayers and zero enforcement, health or skilter,
Starting point is 00:43:54 for another group of these people. When did you invent the phrase for Santa Monica? Tough on taxpayers, good on homeless. Yes. That was 30 years ago. Well, I started noticing quietly many years ago when I was driving down the Forre Salon Highway that they were selling illegals were street vending flowers. And on the other side, cops were given out speeding tickets. And I noticed that and I said, this is bad.
Starting point is 00:44:26 You can't have this. You can go to Tijuana and everyone just does whatever the fuck they want. or you can have strict enforcement of everything. That's street vendors and speeders. But what you can't have is blind eye to criminality and overtaxation and overregulation on this other group. And so I was driving here and I saw for the first time on a corner where I've never seen any street vending, a Latin woman had set up and she is making homemade tamales and she's selling tamales. Now, I love tamales.
Starting point is 00:45:05 And the thing about tamales and street food in general is every pussy I know, if they went into a sushi place on the west side and it had a C or B hanging in the window, the grade, they wouldn't go in. Right. But they will fucking eat a tamale that some bitch made her apartment in Van Ice. God knows what, under what kind of conditions with what ingredients. I'm guessing, you know, some of the cheapest ingredients you can get to make the tamales. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:38 So. Maybe not the freshest. Well, look. Who knows? I would eat the tamale, and I don't care. But I would also eat shit off the ground, and I'd also eat old-ass food. And you do C&B sushi. I would do any of that.
Starting point is 00:45:55 I got Hungarian food made for me in Vegas a week and a half ago. on a Thursday, a week later, I was eating fucking goulash that I brought home and I didn't have, I didn't have a fridge in my hotel room. Nice. Now, hold on. You can't leave the shit out for two days. I brought it to the club and put it in the mini fridge in the club, but it still was outside for half a day.
Starting point is 00:46:22 And then fucking brought that shit back and I ate it. I ate all of it. So, and I'm fine. But that's the reason I never get sick is because I do that shit all the time, which everyone doesn't believe, except for you better start investigating that shit because you're all fucking your gut up by being pussies. But we'll call a pussy guy. I'm saying in a world, Los Angeles, the most regulated place in the world.
Starting point is 00:46:48 And there's no such thing as you rebuilding your home and the pals say it's just, I'm going rogue. I hired a contractor and an engineer. These guys are experienced and competent. I'm paying them. And I don't, I don't care about permits. I don't want a deputy inspector. I don't want a soils report.
Starting point is 00:47:04 I'm not paying for a soils report. I'm billed my house for my family. It'll be safe because we live there. Now, that doesn't exist. No. But if you'd like to make your own food and bring it out to the street and sell it without any regulation,
Starting point is 00:47:19 well now that's fine. But the restaurant across the street, if they would like to just start serving beer and they don't have a liquor license, they're fucking going to put a fence. around that place. Yes. And you can't smoke cigarettes on the beach anymore.
Starting point is 00:47:34 So does that include your backyard and stuff, too? Oh, well, they'd love it. They'd love, they'd love, ah, God. How about your empty lot that your house burned down? You want to, you know. Get out there with a cigarette. People, now, and you can find for the next show, but 13 years ago, I brought this problem up with Gavin Newsom about street vendors.
Starting point is 00:47:57 I told him this is a problem, and he liked street vendors. He's like, what? They're the entrepreneurial. They're doing the thing. He's like, I like that guy. Jesus fucking Christ. Well, now it's a disaster. Because Gavin Newsom likes that guy.
Starting point is 00:48:14 He defends that guy. He wants that guy. Well, to be fair, there's more of those lining Forest Lawn Boulevard than there is the one florist. So those are voters. Right. I, or potential voters, depending on how you guys, certainly census voters. and Drew, I saw a story out of New York where they're just on the street selling supplements and Tylenol and God knows what dick hardening cream. And New York is just completely out on the street now.
Starting point is 00:48:45 That's his thing. That's Mandami's thing? Mondonis thing, man. You just let the criminals go. He spent, here it is. Here's a picture of it. This is the supplement lineup. I can't quite identify where that is.
Starting point is 00:48:59 but yeah leave these people alone man they're just entrepreneurs doing their thing with impunity yeah yeah again go to the beach light up a cigarette see how fast you fucking lifeguard comes over who knows how much that stuff is bootleg or not i have no idea safety safety safety safety safety safety safety all right we fucking listen everybody this is a big goddamn deal um i'm telling you when i was 16 I went to Tijuana. I came back. And your big takeaways,
Starting point is 00:49:34 they fucking sell everything out on the street. So it's chaos. It looks like shit. Huntington Heights. That video, Washington Heights. Washington Heights. I don't even know where Hunt. Where's Huntington?
Starting point is 00:49:46 I don't know where either of them are. I just thought I read that. Oh, you know where Washington Heights. Is it Brooklyn? I don't know. It's Upper Manhattan. Oh, way up there. Like north of Harlem.
Starting point is 00:49:58 Yeah, yeah. Like in the hundreds or something? Yeah. Yeah. Chuck knows baseball. Annie knows New York topography. You got to know what you know, man. When you've walked as many dogs down as many avenues, Chuck has.
Starting point is 00:50:18 Try to call him the big dog. All right. No, wait. What's your dog name? What's your nickname? Jay Moore calls me King of the Dogs. He's King of the Dogs. King of the Dogs.
Starting point is 00:50:30 All right. right this Saturday hunting beach sea lakes good place outdoors fun and then torrents after that first show sold out but still some tickets for the second show and then uh going to new jersey july 30th uh uncle vennies and then uh new york city oh get myself some pharmaceuticals out of iranis drew did his first stand-up set over there did it was too long evidently well you know you're asked to do five you did ten But that's all right.
